The Oyster Inn is a laid-back inn on Waiheke Island, offering stylish rooms and a restaurant/bar with complimentary breakfast. It's known for its trendy ambiance and stunning sea views from the veranda. The inn is also home to the Rams and Dolphins, making it a hub for sports enthusiasts. The restaurant provides a fresh and distinctive dining experience in Oneroa Village, attracting visitors seeking unique culinary experiences.
I cannot recommend this place more highly. As a local on Waiheke island we are very lucky to have many amazing restaurants/wineries to choose from. Yet it’s the ones with exceptional service, food, wine lists and views… this is what draws us back. This place really spoils guests. The staff are exceptionally trained, personable, knowledgeable and deliver the best local cuisine fresh from the island. My dream spot to bring friends at every opportunity. Thank you oyster inn for creating this amazing place to enjoy.

We loved our stay at the Oyster Inn. The rooms are very few and are right next to each other which is perfect for our family. It was easily accessible for my father who has mobility issues. The rooms are clean and modern . The restaurant is lively and the staff are super engaging and friendly and the food is delicious. I’m so glad we opted to stay right in town so that we could walk around, enjoy the beach and the cuteness of Waiheke Island!

Was here to celebrate with friends but perhaps due to large group our orders were delayed. 🥲 waited for approximately 45 mins, other tables finished but ours weren’t here yet. Overall still a good experience with the food — oysters, fish & chips, steak, all made to perfection and everyone enjoyed. Apart from the service (which I believe could be improved) the rest was amazing. Will be back again if I’m visiting waiheke! 🙏🏼

Great spot for my birthday lunch on Waiheke. Food was delicious. Best oysters we have had so far on our NZ holiday. We also had fish and the oyster brioche bun. All cooked beautifully, super tasty and fresh. Great wine and drinks menu - my Margarita was delish. Beers on tap were great too! Our waitress was super helpful and friendly. Highly recommend a visit if you’re on the island. Thanks for having us Oyster Inn ☺️

Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience! The staff were incredibly attentive and kind, the food was completely spectacular! We ordered the sharing menu of a red wine, beef pasta, tiramisu and focaccia and it was tremendous! The best pasta we’ve ever had cooked perfectly al dente in the tastiest sauce that paired beautifully with the focaccia and wine! I also got a super tasty salted caramel espresso martini that was expertly crafted served in a chilled glass. Then the tiramisu was so light and not too sweet, the perfect end to a perfect dining experience! The tables were clean, the view was perfect, the music was nice and not too loud, it was nicely busy and popular but the staff made sure our table felt special! Could not recommend this place enough!!

I've stayed at The Oyster Inn several times for extended stays, and each time Sharon, Mateo, Amanda and the rest of the team have taken such good care of me. The rooms are lovely and the food is amazing. The oysters are delicious, and every morning I was treated to a wonderful breakfast. A big thank you to everyone at the oyster inn!

A great restaurant in Oneroa for a drink with friends or dinner. An interesting menu with something for everyone and the best oysters. Highly recommend for a casual night out where the staff are friendly, wine and food selection is very good and service is excellent.

If you are spending a night or two in Oneroa on Waiheke Island, this is a great, central place to stay. With just three rooms, the Oyster Inn feels exclusive. The decor is uncluttered and calming. The Oyster Inn restaurant, only steps away from the rooms, serves excellent food and wine.

Mudbrick Vineyard and Restaurant is a renowned winery located on Waiheke Island in New Zealand's Hauraki Gulf. It is celebrated for its romantic ambiance, high-end modern cuisine, and breathtaking panoramic views. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience nestled in the vines with sweeping vistas. It has gained recognition as one of the top attractions on Waiheke Island, offering visitors a picturesque setting to enjoy fine dining and wine tasting.
What a wonderful way to get a brief taste of Waiheke! we only had a brief time and this was recommended as the best place to visit if we could only go to one winery. So glad we took that advice! The views are stunning, the staff was so friendly, and the food was delicious--as of course were the wines. We took a cab from the ferry depot and arranged with the same driver to come back for our needed departure time, which worked out perfectly. Would love to visit more of the island's wineries in future but will definitely want to make a second trip to Mudbrick.

I had my wedding at Mudbrick in October 2025, and it honestly couldn’t have been more perfect. The weddings team (Dina and Constance) were amazing from start to finish — they always replied to my emails so quickly, usually within hours, so I never felt left hanging. I met with Dina the day before the wedding to go over final details and do a quick run-through, which made me feel so calm and confident about the big day. On the day itself, everything ran so smoothly thanks to her — she was everywhere she needed to be and made sure everything went to plan. The food and service were absolutely incredible too. Everything happened like clockwork, and our guests are still talking about how beautiful and well-run the day was. If you’re looking for a wedding venue with amazing communication, flawless service, and the most gorgeous setting, I can’t recommend Mudbrick enough. I planned my entire wedding from Australia and it was completely stress-free because of how incredible the Mudbrick weddings team was.

Visited today primarily for a tasting. The lady in the cellar door was extremely welcoming and gave us a delightful and informative experience. The wines were wonderful and the environment is superb. Some negatives: 1. We were encouraged to taste our wines on the terrace above the cellar door. It was a really nice spot but the music was being played at disco levels which made it impossible to enjoy the wine in a relaxing way. The whole environment lends itself to enjoying a nice wine in a peaceful environment with great views, but sadly the techno-disco spoilt this. After the wine tasting we went to the newly opened Robyn's Glasshouse for another glass of wine and a snack. We ordered the Charcuterie sharing board (almost 70 NZD) and we're really disappointed when a tiny board of food was delivered to us. TBH it was barely enough for one person, let alone two. The bread sticks were stale/soft so we politely complained to the waitress who, rather than apologising and replacing them, said she'd "talk to the chef about the issue". Eventually 4 new bread sticks were provided that were OK, but we left Mudbrick still hungry. For the cost I would have expected a lot more food and a more friendly type of service.

Had a tasting there which was very customer focused. Enjoyed the quality of the wines (except the sweet white as I'm a more dry person). Enjoyed their Chardonnay & 2022 Reserve red Bordeaux. Bought some wine & enjoyed the fantastic view, whilst sipping the wine. A must try. A cut above other wineries tastings on the day.

We had the most fantastic experience at Mudbrick - I highly recommend visiting! Brooke did our tasting, she was so friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable. The wine was absolutely delicious (we went for the “Waiheke Tasting” and we loved all four of the wines). We sat outside, the views were incredible across the island and Auckland in the background. The waiting staff were friendly and the food was absolutely delicious and so aesthetically pleasing. The foccacia was the best I’ve ever tasted!

lunch was superb! Oysters was excellent, very fresh , succulent and sweet. appetizers all good. braised octopus the best, beef ribs good (though not quite in the class of Akira back), confit belly pork ok. The main courses - rack of lamb was superb, eye fillet (fillet mignon) was good, very sweet, texture medium rare not the best, fish was ok. desserts were good. the chocolate with expresso and bailey cream, and a tart and macha all good 9.11.2025

The restaurant and venue is amazing! This is a review regarding the wine tasting - once we arrived, we were welcome by the woman host and walked upstairs for the wine tasting. Firstly it was a hot day, instead of sitting underneath the shaded area we were put on the wooden picnic type tables with no water. The tasting started, she didn’t have a spittoon ready and went to get an empty water glass tumbler. Sitting in the hot sun with no water and a full stomach from lunch prior, we apologised to her in advance and said we were a little tired so please don’t feel offended if we didn’t ask any questions. We politely tasted all the wines and listened to her describe all types without any interruption. Once the wine tasting finished we thanked her. My friend then went downstairs to the cellar door to purchase a wine and walked into the wine tour host speaking extremely rudely about our group to her co-worker. My friend was served by another staff member and said she shouldn’t be speaking about our group that way. We were a group of 9 - a few Asian, Kiwis and Australian. There is no need to be racist or speak ill about us in front of other customers. Extremely rude and unprofessional.
Annie W — Google review
Mainly here to review the restaurant but for some reason it's only giving me the hotel categories. But here is my evaluation: Food 5/5, Service 4/5, Atmosphere 5/5 The food was amazing! And also the wine flights had a good selection to choose from My highlight though was the stunning views. Not surprisingly, this location is a popular venue for wedding dinners. Overall I really enjoyed the experience

Italian restaurant
Fenice Cafe & Restaurant is a casual beachside eatery located in the heart of Oneroa on Waiheke Island, Auckland, New Zealand. It's just a short walk from the beach and easily accessible by a 5-minute bus ride from the passenger ferry at Matiatia. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere where visitors can enjoy watching village life go by. Known for its quality cooking and excellent service, Fenice specializes in pizza and pasta dishes.
Enjoyed a breakfast here on a Monday morning in an outdoor seating overlooking Oneroa township. Monday is a relatively quiet day on Waiheke without the weekend xrowds. The menu for breakfast and brunch was reasonably comprehensive and well priced. The restaurant was busy and frequented by locals which was a good sign
Chris C — Google review
A decent spot for brekkie on Waiheke—Fenice is conveniently located on the main street and is easy to find. Their menu offers safe, classic options, making it a great choice if you’re dining with picky eaters or looking for something familiar. From the breakfast/brunch menu, we tried a few classics: eggs Benedict, sausages, and muffins. The eggs were slightly overcooked for my liking but still decently runny. I felt the sausages could have used more flavour and seasoning to stand out. It’s a lovely spot with a good vibe near the beach, offering pretty good food. I’d love to return and explore their dinner options.

We had a lovely breakfast at Café Fenice Italia to start our day on Waiheke Island. The food was delicious, the coffee was great, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A charming spot to enjoy a peaceful morning before exploring more of the island.

We took refuge from the rain here and had a lovely meal and drinks. It was so nice to sit underneath the mini patio roof and hear the rain patter above. The food was delicious! Absolutely exactly what we were looking for and didn’t even know it.

Enjoyed delicious Brunch In a sunny day with a Fabulous view of Oneroa Beach. The sitting area is nice and cozy. Salad, Pasta and Tiramisu is mouth watering, must try this place if you are looking for an Italian cuisine. I always Support Local Restaurant 😋
Shubham K — Google review
Lovely place, had come highly recommended by so many people and it didn’t disappoint. I think the waitress was new so it was a little bit slow but the food and coffee more than made up for it. All the staff were lovely and friendly. We had coffees and brunch, both had clean plates. The nicest creamy mushrooms I’ve ever had. Coffee was to die for. Great place to eat, lovely atmosphere - would eat here again.

Had a great meal at Fenice. We tried the Margherita pizza, calamari, buttermilk waffle, and iced coffee, everything was delicious, especially the iced coffee (so gooood!). The staff were super friendly and made the experience even better. Will definitely be coming back.

A little slice of Italy on Waiheke! 🇮🇹☀️ Fenice is the perfect spot for anyone craving Italian on Waiheke. The atmosphere is perfect for a cosy lunch. The pizza? Amazing! The base is perfectly crispy and the toppings are quality. We paired our pizza with a lovely Prosecco rosé. The staff are super kind. Highly recommend! Can't wait to come back one day!🥂

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a wonderful experience at Tantalus Estate! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was exceptional. What impressed me the most was the restaurant’s consistency in delivering an outstanding menu. We first visited a year ago and were blown away by the delicious food. Coming back this time, we were thrilled to find the same high standards—every dish was amazing! It’s rare to find a place that maintains such excellence over time. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience!

Just popped in for a tasting - 1 wine and 1 beer. The location is great if you want to hit up a few wineries at once and if it’s a nice day, there’s not much better than sitting outside for a tasting. Only downfall.. if you want one of the somm guided tastings, you need to remain inside. Outside you only have a simple, self guided entry level wine option. HOT TIP - There’s a back gate you can ask for access to the other vineyards without having to walk all the way back down to the road to go up the other driveways.
T S — Google review
Good food but overall service was too slow for me to give this place more than three stars. There are places that can balance time management and food quality. We came at 11.45am and by the time we were served our mains it was 2pm. Everything could be better timed. More customers started coming at 1pm and that’s when the service levels dropped. Servers were polite and knowledgeable but it just couldn’t make up the service. We were interested also in the wine tasting experience but took it somewhere else instead. If you did have to come here, I suggest the pork cheek and the beef. Both cooked tenderly and goes well with the recommended wine on the menu.

Tasting was marvellous with excellent knowledge of wine making. A very enjoyable experience! Getting to taste the reds & taste changes through the years was very interesting. Nice job guys!

Really fabulous dining experience at Tantalus Estate - beautiful setting amongst the vineyards and lush country with incredible food. Meticulous is the word that comes to mind, looking at each dish is a visual feast with all the elements beautifully arrayed and lots of colours and flavour pops ready for every mouthful. Salmon, lamb, beef were all fabulous and yes, you should get the truffle fries! The desserts were equally impressive both visually and taste wise, special shout out to their take on a Snickers bar.

Fantastic food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Me and my friends picked the lunch degustation menu when we visited. We were all impressed by the quality of food and the presentation. Very nice wine to go along with the food. The staff were really friendly and considerate, giving us a table that was easy to access as a person in our party had mobility issues. Overall a great experience

Food and wine were excellent! The beef steak was one of the best I've had. The cheese and honey alongside a riesling made for a fantastic dessert.

Casita Miro is a relaxed venue with a focus on tapas, offering picturesque views of vineyards and water. It's open for lunch and weekend dinners, providing an excellent wine tasting experience with passionate presentations. The menu features superb croquettes and Te Matuku Oysters. This popular spot on Waiheke Island offers a lovely winery setting with good food and friendly staff, making it a great stop while exploring the area.
A Rainy Day Delight at Casita Miro 🍷⛅️ Despite visiting Casita Miro on a rainy day, the experience was nothing short of wonderful. Nestled on the slopes of Waiheke Island, the restaurant offered a cozy yet elegant ambiance, with our table affording a great view across the vineyard— atmospheric in the drizzle. We opted to share tapas for lunch, which included Croquetas de Queso de Cabra, Patatas Bravas, Gambas al Ajillo, and Ensalada de Tomate. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, perfectly complemented by a glass of Rose wine. The standout dish was the Croquetas de Queso de Cabra—goat’s cheese balls drizzled with honey—a combination that was irresistible. The service was warm and efficient, adding to the overall relaxed and enjoyable vibe. Casita Miro proved to be a memorable lunch destination, rain or shine. A highly recommended stop if you’re exploring the delights of Waiheke Island.

I visited this Spanish restaurant for the first time after being invited by a local friend. For my first experience and introduction to the restaurant, I was truly impressed. The place was exceptionally well-organized, with a fantastic atmosphere and very professional staff that created a great vibe. The food was outstanding—definitely Michelin star-worthy. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience that perfectly combined excellent service, ambiance, and cuisine.💫

Had a delightful experience here for my anniversary lunch! Did the wine tasting to begin which was great, the red Miro wine was our favourite. We got a couple of mains and some patatas bravas too which were all delicious! Service was spectacular aswell, just a shame it was raining otherwise it would have been a 10/10 experience - we will be back!
Sasha J — Google review
this was such a treat and absolutely no regrets. service was amazing - we were served by Adriana and she was really warm and hospitable. we had asked her to recommend is a bottle of red and she highly recommended the syrah, which all of us absolutely LOVED. when we were researching on vineyards to go to, it was important to us that the food portions were decent as the last thing we wanted was to have a lunch set that had really tiny portions. looked through a number of google reviews across many vineyards and casita miro's reviews looked really good when it came to the food and their portions (there are some vineyards where the portions look absolutely measly). and the food was absolutely G R E A T. we loved every single dish. Adriana also helped us to get the pork main cooked a little more as that was our preference, and we really appreciated the hospitality shown. my husband doesn't take cheese, and he was able to replace his cheesecake dessert with a few scoops of sorbet. what is even more important to call out was my dad dropped his ring at the outdoor area where guests can lounge on the mats whilst enjoying some food and wine. called the main line and was attended to by Michelle. Michelle was very patient and assured me that they'd check once service ends, and it was a pleasant surprise to receive an email from Michelle that my dad's ring was found! we paid a small courier fee to get it shipped to family who stays in Auckland, and the way that my dad's ring was wrapped carefully in the packaging was so thoughtful. wanted to write a lengthy review to commend Michelle and the team for their hospitality, integrity and thoughtfulness. we are so thankful that we got to go to Casita Miro, and 10000000% would recommend.

Authentic Spanish-themed vineyard experience. The tapas were really delicious! I must also really comment on the beautiful plating of the food, truly a delightful experience. A very interesting selection in the wine flight, from the easy drinking, to the really out there types. Appreciated how the staff really went out of their way to get us a table too on a packed Sat afternoon. Overall a fantastic experience

We stopped here for lunch on our e-bike ride on the island. Great food and lovely views. Very friendly service. We had the Pan y Salsas plate, which was a wooden plank with homemade focaccia bread, hummus, oil dips, and mixed olives. So good! We also had fish croquetas and asparagus. You can also do a wine tasting in the restaurant (reservations recommended) or on the terrace (first come first served), or on the lawn. Nice views of a vineyard.

Nestled in a picturesque valley adorned with olive trees and vibrant vines, Stonyridge Vineyard offers a romantic and exotic setting for cafe dining, private events, and weddings. The vineyard is renowned for its French-inspired Cabernet blends and is considered one of the top ten must-visit wineries globally. Visitors can indulge in wine tastings, savor gourmet platters that complement the wines perfectly, and explore the beautiful surroundings.
An Unforgettable Experience at Stonyridge Vineyard – Waiheke Island I recently had the pleasure of visiting Stonyridge Vineyard on beautiful Waiheke Island, and wow — what an unforgettable experience from start to finish. To be honest, I’ve never really been much of a wine drinker - but that may have changed forever after this visit. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning surroundings and relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The vineyard itself is absolutely picturesque, like something out of a postcard. Shout-out to Ella for the warm welcoming as we went in! Your a star! Our wine-tasting was taken with Gary, and it was truly exceptional. His knowledge of both the wine and the vineyard’s rich history brought a whole new appreciation to the experience. He was passionate, engaging, and made learning about wine feel effortless and fun. After tasting a variety of wines and learning how to truly appreciate the flavors, I think I’ve officially converted! Pinot Gris may just be my new drink of choice! Gary, if you’re reading this - thank you for making it such a standout experience! 10/10 recommend Gary for your tastings! Now, let’s talk about the food… incredible!!. Every dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully plated, and perfectly paired with the wines. From rich, savory mains to delicate fresh starters, each bite felt thoughtfully crafted and elevated by the wine it was served with. But the real showstopper? The cheesecake! Hands down, 100/10. If I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I absolutely would. Creamy, dreamy, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious—it was the perfect sweet ending to a flawless meal! Thank you Chef Sam and Chef Arnaud! The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit, and I have to give a special mention to the Manager - Jaden - who was absolutely wonderful—approachable, professional, and clearly loved what they do. You could feel the positive energy flowing from the entire team. To the incredible team at Stonyridge - Chefs Sam and Arnaud, the staff (S/O to Vale, Kiki and Mathis), the wonderful manager Jaden, and of course Gary....THANK YOU for such a memorable day. I came in as someone unsure about wine, and left as a total convert with a new favorite drink and a full, happy heart. I’ll definitely be back!

We did visit a couple of vineyards during our day trip to Waiheke, and we loved Stonyridge. It was a bit less crowded than other major vineyards, but it has so much character. It is very peaceful, and the scenery is so beautiful. Highly recommended!

This was the second winery I visited during my trip to Waiheke Island, and overall, it was decent. If you're catching the island tour bus, be prepared for a decent walk from the bus stop to the winery. The walk does come with some beautiful scenic views, though. When I visited, the winery appeared to be undergoing renovations, which limited access to certain areas and likely affected the overall experience. I did the $25 red wine tasting, which included three red wines that were quite enjoyable. I liked one enough to buy a bottle to take home for $65.

We dropped by Stonyridge Vineyard and were warmly greeted by their accommodating staff. The surroundings were absolutely beautiful—lush greenery, peaceful views, and a tranquil atmosphere that made us want to stay longer. We picked up a bottle of their popular red and took a moment to soak in the natural beauty around us. A lovely and relaxing stop that truly captures the charm of Waiheke Island.

Keeping in mind that they are doing building work there, they have kept most of the view unspoilt whilst you enjoy your wines and food. Fantastic customer service who knew their wines and who were very welcoming. Wines were good and were reasonably priced. I would return again definitely.

Vino Vino Restaurant & Bar is a Mediterranean-style dining spot located in Auckland's Waiheke Island, offering stunning views of Oneroa Bay. The restaurant is known for its inventive twists on brunch and lunch fare, making it a favorite among locals. With a comprehensive menu and an extensive selection of local Waiheke wines, the restaurant provides a delightful dining experience.
My wife and I were on Waiheke Island and decided to have breakfast at Vino Vino. My wife had 2 poached eggs with Bacon and toast. I had the Vino Vino Big Breakfast with 2 eggs, potatoes, bacon and creamy mushrooms. Everything tasted great! I do not generally order bacon, but this bacon was perhaps the most flavorful bacon I've ever had. Service was quick with ready refills of a bottle of cold water for us. We sat outside with a view of the water. While we had breakfast, the lunch and dinner menu look quite good. I recommend Vino Vino for anyone looking for quality food while visiting Waiheke Island.

I saw all the good reviews then we picked this restaurant. Sorry that we were very disappointed. We ordered seafood chowder, not creamy at all, very watery and the bread was cold. (I had to asked them to toast it) My husband ordered BLAT that made by burger bun and not fresh. I knew we came in just before 11:00am, but we expected a good food at that price. However, the views were good and stuff were friendly.

Had an amazing dinner with my family at Vino Vino last week. Was a beautiful evening and we sat out on the deck with a great view of the beach. Had a range of tapas for starters, steak and the patatas bravas for main and chocolate nemesis for dessert and it was all muy delicioso! The place had a very warm vibe and everyone was very friendly. Can’t wait to go back.

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious and everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was just as impressive. The Dhannajaya (DJ) added a great vibe to the atmosphere. We especially appreciated that the owner came over to check in with us personally. it really made us feel welcome and valued. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back!

Wow !! What a wonderful surprise today when we randomly selected Vino Vino for lunch on our day trip to Waiheke. Our random choice was due to the incredible views. From the start to the end the service, meal and attention was first class. We have been fortunate enough to eat at some incredible restaurants throughout the World and would have to rate this establishment right up there. The food was faultless with a perfect combination of ingredients.Connie and staff…congratulations.

Overall a nice experience - a couple of things were unavailable due to the fryer being out of action which limited the menu. The food was nice, seafood chowder was nice for an entree but I wouldn’t say it’s what you expect, but still a nice addition to a light lunch. The view was beautiful and it’s a great location. Good service

Stopped in for breakfast to line our stomachs before a day of vineyard hopping — and honestly, what a perfect start! The views are gorgeous, the staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the food hit the spot — fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. There was a little wait for my hot chocolate (it turned up after the food), but I forgave that instantly because it was the best hot chocolate I have ever had. I’m still thinking about it! Sadly, we had to dash to catch our bus, so I didn’t get a chance to ask what chocolate blend they use — but whatever it is, I need it in my life.

This restaurant was a lovely surprise. We just wanted to stop by for a quick coffee but the view was nice so we stayed for a bit longer. Staff are very friendly. Highly recommend the pavlova.

Cable Bay Vineyards is a popular destination for wine enthusiasts, offering tastings and small plates in a picturesque setting. Situated within walking distance from the Matitatia ferry, it attracts day-trippers and overnight guests who can stay in a villa on the property. The expansive grassed area provides a perfect spot to relax and enjoy outdoor sculptures while savoring award-winning wines.
Wine was good, food was great and so was the service. Had a great time here. Standouts were the kingfish, truffles fries, and beef tartare.

My wife and I went here as part of a Waiheke Island wine tour at several places, with Cable Bay Vineyards being the first stop (mid-March 2025). The property itself is absolutely gorgeous, and the views are breathtaking, overlooking the ocean from the hills. It was our sommelier’s 2nd class ever, but she was totally engaging, charming and professional. It made the experience that much more enjoyable. We sampled various different wines. The quality was good, but I admittedly had better for my personal tastes at other spots on this tour, as well as throughout our entire trip. Would still recommend if you’re making a day-trip ferry to the island!
Mike G — Google review
We made a stop here after a bike ride over the island and had some wine and tapas before returning our bikes. Nice modern building. We sat outside on the terrace with a view of the sea in the distance. Shoutout to the chef for their new tapas menu. We loved the patatas and the mushroom arancini’s. Our server was nice, attentive, and helpful.

We had lunch here and it was almost perfect : the food was very good: we loved the oysters, as well as some classic dishes that were really well executed (gnocchi, roast cauliflower). The wines are excellent. The service was very amiable and professional. The location and views are stunning (see attached). It is a shame you would not allow me to taste a wine before ordering a glass. I assume you are doing this because you are trying to promote your wine tasting sessions, but this is not consistent with the restaurant experience you are aspiring to deliver. You should reconsider this « policy ». I might have bought even more wine after my lunch!
Ed — Google review
The cocktails and pizza we had were incredible—definitely the best gluten-free pizza I've ever tasted! The service was top-notch, although the calamari was a bit rubbery. They were really apologetic about it and took it off our bill, which I appreciated.

Nice experience wine tasting with my friend. I enjoyed the explanations given for each wine. Friendly staff. Well priced.

We had a wonderful experience at Cable Bay Winery on Waiheke Island. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was calm, welcoming, and beautifully scenic. Sam offered outstanding service—friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel relaxed and unhurried. We were able to sit outside and soak in the gorgeous views, which made the afternoon even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, perfectly cooked, and paired perfectly with a glass of the Five Hills 2020 vintage, which we loved. We’ve visited several nearby wineries, but Cable Bay truly stands out for its combination of incredible food, wine, service, and ambiance. Highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Waiheke Island!
EAW — Google review
Walked down to this winery after Mudbridge, which was great. However, I preferred the standard Shiraz here at Cable Bay than the top end Shiraz at Mudbridge. The food was fantastic at both locations honestly. The main difference was in the service. At Mudbridge, it’s more of a quick tourist in and out experience. Sam, our server, made sure we weren’t rushed, was incredibly informed about the island and wine of course. Kiwis seem friendly by nature, but it was like hanging out with someone you’d actually want to share a bottle with. So, if you have time for a great view, wine and convo, head here and spend a few hours, and ask For Sam

Te Motu Vineyard is a charming spot nestled in Waiheke, New Zealand, offering a delightful farm-to-fork experience at The Shed. With a fusion of South Korean and local flavors, the rustic gourmet kitchen presents meticulously crafted dishes like seared kingfish tataki paired with world-class Bordeaux-blend wines. The vineyard's history dates back to 1989 when the Dunleavy family started planting vines, resulting in exceptional blends like Te Motu and Dunleavy.
Absolutely fabulous food in a magical setting, and really great service too (thank you Holly). Would go so far as to say this was our best meal so far since arriving in Auckland several days ago.. such a fabulous, foodie city but this place takes it up to another level. That lamb! Those vegetables! Huge compliments to the chef
Melanie W — Google review
I had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant! The starter—lamb ribs—was a bit of a surprise, but everything else absolutely delighted me. The highlight for me was the fish ravioli. I highly recommend ordering some focaccia on the side because not a single drop of that delicious sauce should go to waste. I was craving some rum baba, and this is definitely the place to find exactly what you’re looking for. It was incredibly tasty. The wine selection here is also top-notch, making the dining experience even better. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to recommend both food and drinks. Definitely a place worth visiting!

Did the 4 wine tasting for $30. The wines were of great quality and all very enjoyable. The Scottish lady’s (sorry didn’t get your name) service was very knowledgeable and engaging, thank you. I still reckon it’s more than a 7 min walk up the hill though!! 😉

From the moment we arrived for our 2 PM lunch reservation, our experience felt genuinely special. As two couples in our 50s visiting from Hungary, we were immediately welcomed by the laid-back and inviting vibe of the place. We started off simply, each with a glass of delicious red or rosé, saving our three-wine tasting for later. Every dish we tried was a delight—four creative starters and three mains, all shining with fresh ingredients and thoughtful twists. The food had that fine dining flair in its combinations, yet nothing about it felt overly formal. Instead, the atmosphere was relaxed and warm, making us instantly comfortable. The true highlight, though, was the sense of heart and creativity in every bite and sip, clearly a reflection of the passionate family behind the winery. We were incredibly lucky to have Paul D, the owner, guide us through the wine tasting. Paul is a fascinating person who generously shared not just his knowledge of the wines, but also stories from his own background. He took his time with us, and we felt genuinely honored by the attention.
Barbara S — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting experience at Te Motu Vineyard. The staff were fantastic storytellers and answered all our questions about the winery and the wines with great enthusiasm. The only criticism I have is that getting to the venue can be a bit of a hike (about 15–20 minutes) if you don’t have a car. While it wasn’t much of a problem for us, it’s something worth noting! Thankfully, the weather was lovely, so we got to enjoy the beautiful views along the way.
Sang K — Google review
Incredible! Worth the trip to NZ alone! Food was one of, if not the best meal I’ve ever had and paired with the wines just made the whole experience memorable! Thank you!
Stephanie W — Google review
My partner and I had lunch at Te Motu last Sunday and honestly, it was unforgettable. The food was flawless — full of flavour and perfectly done — but the wine… that’s on another level. Easily some of the most beautiful wines we’ve ever tried on Waiheke, maybe anywhere. If you’re lucky, like we were, the owner himself will stop by your table and guide you through each pour, sharing stories with so much passion you can’t help but get drawn in. We even tasted vintages going back to the early 2000s — rare, aged wines still full of life and depth. It felt like a privilege to experience. The focaccia deserves its own mention — unreal. We will be back soon

This place was by far the highlight of our waiheke trip! I have no idea why this place is not #1 on the winery list. Not only was the wine fabulous, the food was amazing. The chef deserves a Michelin star. Each dish was absolutely delicious. Definitely try the lamb ribs and the ceviche! It was so good! Service was lovely and they had a DJ set up for late afternoon. We had a baby so we left beforehand but it looked really fun! You can also take photos of the vineyards nearby. It truly was so great! I will definitely be back!!

Situated below the Red Crab in central Oneroa, it's known for its excellent food, coffee, and wine selection. The restaurant has received positive reviews for its offerings and is considered a must-visit spot on the island.
Fantastic service, great food and beautiful views! Lovely experience all around! Really tasty juices were a highlight but breakfast is yum too with great presentation. Justin was really patient and friendly when answering tourist questions on best vineyards to access on the island!

Wai Kitchen is a great spot—easily accessible with free parking nearby and a lovely view of the sea. The staff were warm and accommodating, which made the experience even better. We had the pork belly poke bowl and eggs benedict—both were tasty and well-presented. The hollandaise was a bit too buttery for my taste, but that might just be me. Overall, a relaxed and enjoyable brunch stop on the island!

Great place to get brunch and have a view of the bay. They had some amazing eggs Benedict. The prices weren't bad either. Also, the service was great, our waiter gave us some fun tips of things to do around town.

Good service getting offered a table further up with a better view as it became available. Waiter with the moustache was funny. Eggs benny and pancakes were great. Food came fast. Views were 10/10

Great spot with the best view and light room. Menu isn't extensive or as traditional as other but the team are more than accommodating. We had a a great waiter who was attentive, funny and warm - tall grey haired man (didn't catch his name). Coffee was really good as well. Would come back.

I only saw your defensive reply a year later, guess my comment was on the same “speed” as your kitchen. I even checked my chat with my friend from that day: from the moment I said I’d ordered to when I finally got that unbelievably bad yakiudon, it took 1 hour and 10 minutes. I remember asking the staff because it was taking forever. He checked the ticket, went to the kitchen, and after a while the dish showed up. So yeah, you probably forgot my order, and your ticket record isn’t right. I’m not the only one who’s left a bad review, but sure go ahead and rudely argue back to each of us. In times like this, I hope bad businesses get replaced by good ones. hopefully faster than you serve food. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– I'm sitting in the restaurant writing this review. my overall experience was disappointing. The customer service was just average, and despite the picturesque setting, I had to wait over an hour for my food. Unfortunately, the long wait was not worth it, as the dish taste is really bad and expensive. Not a place I’d recommend for a memorable meal.

Their dishes are crafted with locally sourced ingredients, resulting in a unique fusion of authentic Thai flavors. The Red Crab offers an extensive menu that caters to all tastes and preferences.
If you're in the mood for authentic Thai food, you should check out this place that offers not only excellent cuisine but also a stunning ocean view! The ambiance is great, and the food is unbelievably delicious—truly a must-try if you’re hungry for Thai flavors. I highly recommended

Beautiful view of the ocean from our seat that we had. The pad Thai tasted extraordinary. I enjoyed every bite of it as it was superb in flavor and spices. The pad see ew on the other hand was lacking flavor and wasn’t as impactful as the pad Thai. It was a little bland but still good enough to eat. Overall a good place and I would return.
Jaquez T — Google review
Nice Restaurant and Bar with view at the sea. Between 12 and 3 PM was Lunch Special. I took Pad Thai for (Rice with Chicken) 15,50 NZD. It was delicious. Common prices are around 25 - 30 NZD. The possibility to sit outside is great. Smart, there is quite a lot green including some smaller trees to hide the houses in front. This works fine. In this way you can enjoy the wonderful view. Clear recommendation.

The Red Crab is our go to for a Friday night. Food and drinks are always awesome - the Pad See Ew is a must! Guy and Yam are always so hospitable and remember our drink order every time we go in. Absolute must if you’re on Waiheke :)

I usually prefer to do takeaway from here as the restaurant itself has an odd atmosphere and seems geared towards tourists. That being said, it is generally quiet! The food portions are good and though they don't always have prawn crackers, the spring rolls make up for it.
Joe D — Google review
Please donot visit this place if you are after nice customer service. We had to wait 45 minutes while we watched 2 tables besides us who ordered after us eat and leave and we still weren't served. Only to realise the server didnot leave the order at the kitchen. As I went to pay, all I expected was a heartful apology and some kind of a resolution as our 2 young kids and ourselves totally lost our appetite. Instead both the guy at the till and possibly the lady, the Manager acted so rude and denied everything we said and behaved as though I was just making up things. Lastly they gave a 20% off and yelled never come back, instead of apologizing to their actions. To top this up, even followed us out to the road side and ruined our perfect weekend get away at Waiheke. Sick people!! Stay away!!

Paid NZ$39 for 2 persons lunch. The fried rice and pad thai were tasty. However, the chicken was slightly too hard and bland. Service was friendly and efficient. I paid in cash as there was a surcharge of 2.5% if pay by credit card.

Three Seven Two is a beautiful restaurant located near Onetangi Beach on Waiheke Island. It was named after the first three digits of the island's phone number, reflecting its strong sense of place. The restaurant offers light and seafood-led dishes that are best enjoyed on its small but perfectly formed terrace, providing a bright and breezy atmosphere to spend an afternoon.
My husband, friends and I had an exceptional time. The service was very attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere (right on beach) was enjoyable. Food was delicious. There were so many flavors and textures. We had creamed paua, rotolo pasta, fried eggplant, braised goat shoulder and crispy potatoes. We liked them all and couldn't pick just one as a favorite. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had lunch at Three Seven Two today and loved it. I ordered the Whole Flounder, which was deftly prepared, tender and tasty. My wife ordered the Duck Breast, which was very flavorful and enjoyed immensely. It should be noted that our dishes were preceded by a plate of bread with olive oil. The bread was wonderful and the olive oil was good. The ambience in Three Seven Two is calm, clean, bright and comfortable. Service was excellent. I highly recommend Three Seven Two for quality food in a wonderful atmosphere.

I went here for lunch today and it was honestly one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. I got the beer-battered snapper, which had a perfectly light and crispy batter, and the snapper itself was tender and full of flavour. The chips were the real standout — soft like mashed potatoes on the inside, crispy on the outside, with little crunchy crevices that made them irresistible. The salt and pepper squid was also fantastic. The lovely couple who run this place, along with their big friendly dog Andy, were warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!

We had two unbelievable meals at the Local, probably among the first days they were open for the season! The service was friendly with good banter and the food was sensational, especially with the view overlooking the ocean providing some extra mental seasoning. I enjoyed the cheeseburger with bacon and a pop one day, and fish and chips the other. The fries/chips were standout, being among the best I have ever had. I would come back for a casual meal anytime.

We opted for the "Trust the Chef" 3 course meal. It came with an assortment of starters, an entree, a main, and dessert. The staff were very attentive, explained each item as it was brought out, and offered blankets as it cooled off. The food was fabulous! One of us did not want fish so we ended up with different entrees... a king fish sashimi and a venison... both delicious. These were followed by a perfectly cooked grilled lamb steak. All finished off by a vanilla creme brulee. We would definitely go back. Total cost for 2 (including 3 cocktails and 2 coffees) was NZD 290.

Easily one of the busiest places on Waiheke Island on the weekend. Great atmosphere, nice and spacious but tables well spaced for privacy. Food was very delicious! Paired well with the recommended wine from the waiter too. My only critique on the food was the octopus was a little bit rubbery and tough, perhaps a bit more could be done in the prep to make it more tender. Other than that, enjoyed the experience. The Hennessey and dessert at the end topped off a great night

Very good weather in a restaurant with the awesome seaview. However I was told that Kina on the toast was sold out😕. That's really unacceptable. It showed on the daily specials with today's date on it. And I was ordering it right after 12pm when the restaurant opened. So I changed it to cavalier on Tina. And asked for a proper cavalier spoon. And the waiter check with manager and brought me a ceramic spoon. That's not I would expected in a realitively high end restaurant. Anyway, I chose to use my fingers and enjoyed the view and weather more. I probably won't back to this restaurant again.

The dishes chosen were Grilled Pork Ribeye cooked to perfection, beautifully tender Roast Duck with Asian Salad and a very tasty Leek, Egg & Parmesan Crumble, wasn't a perfect match with our mains but it was our choice and we loved it. Great outdoor play area for kids too. Keep up the good work!

Visited the Heke brewery and kitchen on day trip to Waiheke. The location is beautiful (and the weather was perfect). We started with Whiskey tasting in the brewery. Knowing our whiskeys and asking the right question turned our visit into quite a drinking experience. Well beyond what we just paid for. It was a great hour. The local distillery does punch above it weight. Do try! We followed with beers and meal at the restaurant. Beautiful food and friendly staff Great unforgettable afternoon.

My partner and I were looking for a place to hold a small ceremony for our marriage and the staff at The Heke could not be more accommodating to us. They set up a lovely area outside for us to hold our ceremony and they went above and beyond to make sure it was perfect and it was! We had lunch after the event was finished and was delicious! We even tried their Whiskey and beer and that was so good too. Thank you so much for an unforgettable day, we will be back to try out more of the menu in the future for sure!

This is one of those popular restaurants: huge area with indoor and outdoor dining and a huge kids playing bouncing pillow. It is a family friendly restaurant. The food was great but the portion was not very big. There is a souvenir shop and tasting room on the premises.

What a surprise package!! We had brunch/lunch at Heke Kitchen which ended up being our favourite part of our day trip from Auckland. The food was incredible. Whilst there were many regular options (ie burger & chips, wood fired pizzas, etc) we ate from the ‘seasonal to share’ menu choices. The Crunchy Sichuan Cucumber was especially memorable. I have never had cucumber prepared this way or taste so good. We also had a fresh fish and braised lamb dish with each complimenting the other. To top it off, the staff were very attentive, friendly and fun without being overbearing. My price point included a bottle of bubbles and a couple beers - so good value for money. We’ll be back here on our next trip to Waiheke for sure!

The Heke is a must-visit on Waiheke Island. We enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and great food. We ordered the lamb curry, chicken burger, and the whiskey truffle. Each dish was full of flavour and beautifully served. The highlight was scoring one of their renowned whiskey bottles to take home. With its kitchen, brewery, and distillery all in one location, The Heke offers a well-rounded and satisfying experience for food and drink lovers alike.
Darell N — Google review
We had the absolute best time here! We went to have a whisky and beer tasting and Myron was so knowledgeable on the processes for all of the spirits and beers with so much background knowledge. He was the best! We had lunch afterwards and the chicken and cocktails were so delicious with nice quick service. The waitress we had was also super sweet! Highly recommend for people that love whisky, beer, great food and a nice gin. Great views to top it all off!

The Courtyard Waiheke Restaurant and Garden Bar is a popular spot in Oneroa with a relaxed, beachy vibe and stunning water views. The menu features Mediterranean-inspired dishes like house-made pastas, fresh seafood, and international twists. Guests love the sunny courtyard and evening atmosphere created by festoon lights. It's advisable to make weekend reservations for guaranteed seating. The restaurant offers awesome service, a great atmosphere, and delicious food including standout dishes like seared scallops and fish pie.
We were told this is a good place to eat and ooh la la we loved it! Creative menu, excellent cook on everything. Every dish has heaps going on but you can taste every ingredient. Really enjoyed the vibe too, homely, and a very nice touch with the wine on display.

Delicieux! May not suit everyone's needs but it did ours! The chicken was fantastic. The portion was massive. The snapper/prawn pasta was tasty. Broccoli on the side was great. Staff were great and bubbly despite being busy. Had to have dessert and stay longer... An amazing cheesecake/creme brulé! And a rich chocolate tart. Everything delivered.

One of the best I’ve been so far in Waiheke, staff is very friendly, proactive and kind. The food was absolute heaven. Thank you for the experience.

Met one of my favorite chefs on the island here. It’s the one of two places I’ve eaten out at on the island and after hearing the head chefs story one night of living and growing up on the island, I was happy to put my money behind this. I like to know where my money is going. I am very conscious spender. The food was excellent and prepared right in front of me. I had the best seat in the house I like to believe.

Possibly the best prepared steak I’ve ever had. Fried crispy on the outside, perfect medium rare on the inside, simple butter sauce. Delicious. Friendly and speedy service. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Amazing food and service. Every dish we ordered was delicious and the service was impeccable. Thanks for an incredible evening and memorable food. Look forward to coming again ☺️

The crumbed chicken with brown sauce was a hit. The only downside with the restaurant was that it was raining and some of the tables were exposed to the wind and rain, and to try and cope the tables were crowded together so there was very little space between them. We had a lovely vermentino wine that is well recommended.
Nigel M — Google review
We dined on a saturday evening and the plce was quite booked but the server (didnt get his name but he had cool dreadlocks!) was friendly and quick to help us out. We had a great time with some grilled scallops, gnocchi and potato bake. Adviseable to book on weekends to get guaranteed seats.

Located in Oneroa on Waiheke Island, Too Fat Buns is a popular spot for gourmet burger enthusiasts. The restaurant offers a variety of fully loaded burgers, including options for vegetarians and vegans. Customers rave about the juicy and succulent burgers, flavorful spices, and delicious aioli served with the chips. While some feel that the small shop is a downside, others appreciate the fresh taste and filling nature of the burgers.
We were supposed to have lunch at a winery but after reading reviews and seeing photos of their burgers I cancelled our booking and we are sooooooo happy we did. Quite honestly it was the best burger we have ever eaten, ever. We both had the Big Beefy (I had bacon as an add on)… wow. Just wow. Every single 5 star review is 100% bang on. The freshest ingredients, juiciest meat, prepare to get messy.in a great way. The chips were fantastic although we only needed 1 serve not 2! We are so full, fat and happy. It cost us $85 each to come over on the ferry and get the hop on hop off and this was the highlight of our day. It’s very easy to see how they’ve won so many awards. The owner is an amazing human being and his passion for sourcing local produce and creating brilliant food is evident from the second you arrive in the alley situated groovy cafe. I want to eat here every day for the rest of my life.

By far the best burger ever. I had a Big Beefy Bun with Swiss cheese and my wife had the same burger but with bacon and blue cheese. We both were blown away by the freshness and amazing flavors. If I am ever passing through NZ again, I will make the effort to come here again.

Ajadz Indian Cuisine on Waiheke Island is a great spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The restaurant offers a wonderful atmosphere that complements their delicious Indian dishes. While there might be a bit of wait for the food, the staff are apologetic and the meals are worth it. Some feel that the portion size of rice could be larger, but overall, prices are comparable to other Indian restaurants.
Ordered the dhal fry and malai kofta curry. Waited 30 minutes for the food to arrive but staff were apologetic and the meals were tasty so it was worth it. Portion size of the rice could be bigger as they only gave us a medium sized bowl of rice to share. Prices are on par with every other Indian restaurants.

We got takeaways- amazing food at a great value. Our only negative was that the delivery was 20 minutes late. A phone call to say that the order would be later than expected would have been great. However, I would recommend the food.

Well placed on the road between Matiatia and Oneroa, this shop offers a great range of gelatos and sorbets. The quality is as good as any from Italy. Servings though a little pricey are generous making this a worthwhile destination for your gelato stop.

Ana is very kind and gave us great recs for gelatos. We tried the mango, lime, passionfruit and salty coconut passionfruit, both excellent. Then we came back 5 hours later to get the biscoff tiramisu. All 5/5

My favourite New Zealand treat when I'm visiting from Australia. Hard to have only a single scoop. But pease, IGC, bring back the Salted Caramel and Pic's Peanut Butter ... it was the BEST!

Visited on November 3rd around 2:30 pm. My husband asked the attendant a few simple questions about the products, including whether a certain item was made with local ingredients. Instead of responding politely, she reacted with an unexpectedly aggressive and defensive attitude, raising her voice in a way that was both unprofessional and uncomfortable. He chose to proceed with the order to avoid confrontation, but the exchange left a very negative impression. Customer service should never make patrons feel unwelcome for asking basic questions. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this place.

Such a gem! One of the best meals we had in NZ. The ceviche will change your life. We were basically licking the plate. Cocktails were fantastic. Doesn’t feel as touristy as other spots on the island which is nice as well. We were only stopping in for a snack and it was so good we ended up doing full blown dinner here. View of the ocean down the road from outdoor seating. Thank you to the chefs and wait staff for a wonderful meal and time!!!

Had breakfast here after a swim at the beach. I ordered the haloumi breakfast burger. Filled me up for the rest of the day. My friend ordered the potato rosti. Enjoyed our meals. Toilet sign tells you to walk to the beach and use those (yeah for real!) Coffee was good. Service is ☆☆ as no spoons served with coffee, waitress walked off when we asked for them. Didn't bring water to the table. This is just something I prefer when dining out. Good establishments will do this when they're on top of the service skills without prompting. Recommend

Edit: have changed to 5 stars because of the owners reply. The service was great when we were here! I think my experience was down to personal taste and the items we chose. We were slightly disappointed by this place unfortunately! The short rib had a sauce on top that tasted like straight Watties BBQ sauce, the meat was very nice and tender but the sauce ruined it. The market fish was delicious though! And our drink was quite nice. We felt it was overpriced for the portion size.

The restaurant embodies a laid-back, 'slow food' philosophy, crafting each dish with care and championing local produce while minimizing waste. With its tranquil ambiance and delicious offerings like Shakshuka and Berry Granola, Akito provides not only good food but also good practices.
Definitely recommend stopping here if you’re in the area. The portions are substantial, we ordered too much and wish we had an extra stomach to take it all! Coffee was beautiful, service was quick and the different seating areas give everyone a bit of choice for atmosphere. Not the cheapest, but I feel like it was money well spent and we didn’t leave disappointed. The place was quite busy too which suggests others think it’s a good place too.

We had breakfast this morning at Akitō Eatery and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The dishes were simple yet crafted with exceptional care and flavour – truly delicious. I ordered fried eggs on toast with grilled halloumi, and it was absolutely perfect: fresh, well-balanced, and cooked to perfection. My partner had the avocado salad with halloumi, which was just as impressive. What really stood out, though, was the outstanding customer service. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable, especially considering we had just arrived from the ferry with luggages, a stroller, and our 3-month-old baby. friendly, fast & amazing food...what more is there to say? everything was cooked there and then, the crunch on the chicken in the burgers (ordered the blackbird) was insane, buns toasted to perfection (may I add they didn't charge extra for gf), sauce was heavenly and didn't feel the usual need to add something more (usually that underused seasoning people forget about called SALT!!). chips with accompanying sauces were yum too - fresh, hot and crunchy. these guys are legends and a definite must.

The place seems to be for locals, not necessarily tourists, so the prices are reasonable, the food is delicious and there is a nice atmosphere. The burger and steak (perfect medium rare) are highly recommended! Plus the delicious Hazy beer.

Went here after moving into our new place and couldn’t be bothered to cook! Wife went for the goat curry, whilst I opted for ribs. Goat curry was out of this world and accompanied by some great Naan bread. Ribs fell off the bone and a massive amount of them accompanied with a plate stacked with slaw and chips! Absolutely loved the food and service and will certainly be back!

Last night on the island we decided to pop down the road to a quiet resturant in Surfdale for a quick meal. The resturant wasn't busy so our expectations were low, however the meals were spectacular!! The pizzas are made up of super crunch thin base with loads of prawns, that were fresh and huge. I had a Malaysian beef curry which was delish!! Salads were fantastic too... pizza bread just delicious 😋. This resturant is family owned and we were really looked after. Great pricing, huge meals but also great qaulity.

11 years in service for Waiheke, the proof is in the pudding. The atmosphere and venue is cozy. The service is amazing. The food is even better. The baby back pork ribs-the meat literally falls off the bone. The spicy chicken wings- your nose runs in a good way. The slow cooked Lamb shank, Scotch fillet and if youre like me wanting to try something different-wild Goat curry are absolutely delicious. Kids are catered for too so makes for a good family outing.

The smoked baby back pork ribs were absolutely incredible — tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The smoky aroma hit as soon as the food landed on the table, and the meat just fell off the bone. Perfect balance of seasoning and sauce without being overwhelming. Easily some of the best ribs I’ve had, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

Tried to dine there tonight after looking at menu that said they cater for allergies and had build your own pizza etc. We arrived and once I asked what I could eat off menu as a ceiliac person all the food I asked if it was safe for me the answer I got was IT SHOULD BE. I asked her to check with chef and that's when she came back saying that he not want to serve me and can be 100% and he not sure what I can eat. If your going to offer food options and you offer gluten free if would be a good idea to actually have food safe for me to eat. We had ordered a drink and once they realized that I was Har to cater to there was no more service for 20 minutes and when we decided to leave and pay for drinks she then asked if I still wanted to order. Sorry but I need to say they are poorly equipped to run or understand food requirements.

Cute spot with super reasonable prices! They had just ran out of the lamb shank (*cries*) so instead I got the goat curry, which comes with rice and garlic naan for just $30. It was really good and a significant portion - I took half of it home. Sadly I wasn’t able to make it back to try the lamb shank but it looked and sounded amazing judging by the other table. Great little hidden gem in Surfdale!

French restaurant
Located at the Three Lamps end of Ponsonby Road, Island Frenchie has undergone an attractive transformation, garnering attention with its revamped appearance. The traditional crepe machines have been replaced by a sophisticated wine bar and bistro, helmed by owner Alex Roux. Carrying on the success of former establishments Pastis and Bouchon, Island Frenchie captures the essence of French dining in Auckland, radiating a carefree joie de vivre that appeals to all.
Great place to get breakfast in the morning after a day at the wineries! We got the dusty brekkie and coffee and everything was fresh and made quick! Nice people who own the restaurant

I love this cage the food is amazing and the service is awesome. Definitely recommend the fish tacos or burgers. I want to go there every day of the week. The price was super cheap for tasty meals. You should definitely come here. Five stars.

This is easily the best breakfast I’ve had on Waiheke. I wish I had found it earlier. French toast to die for. Best and simplest B/E roll with really fresh Cibatta. But best of all it is priced so fair.

My husband and I came here three times in two days and tried to order as many things as we could because everything was amazing - the food was unbelievable and much cheaper than a lot of other places, the coffee was the best we've have in a long while, and the owner was the loveliest Frenchman! We wish we could have stayed longer to try more dishes but it will have to wait until next time. What a gem of a spot, start here so you don't need to go anywhere else. Favourite dishes: everything we tried was fantastic but my favourite was the dusty breakfast (filled homemade ciabatta) and the coffee, and my husband's favourite was the fish tacos.

The best place for breakfast & lunch on Waiheke Island! Lovely spot with few seats outside, offering stellar breakfasts with REAL french patisserie goods (only place we got a like-in-Paris croissant in weeks...), as well as yummy sandwiches & burgers around lunchtime. Prices significantly lower than rest of the island while the food is better here. We came back twice during our three day-stay on the island!

Lovely people , I really enjoyed my fish taco , thank you ! They have too some pastries, we did try the canell which was delicious 🤤 Update : we kept visiting the place all days during our holidays since the food was the best that we try on the island, loved the beef salad , and the loaded nachos with pork belly was sooooooooo gooooodddd, we try too the almond croissants , and my partner loved his bacon roll. If we come back this will be the place to go for us , we did try most of the island restaurants and take aways and this is our fav so far

Lovely little place. Cute little pastries. Coffee is a bit too bitter to my liking but others may like it. A few outdoor tables for sitting. Right opposite the library so can visit there after the breakfast.

A cute little place to have a quick bite before going to the beach. The coffee's really good and the fish tacos are simply delish 👌
