We saw this Penang restaurant ok the Google map with a high rating so decided to give it a try. It was a late lunch, we arrived at the restaurant at about 2-ish and was greeted by the friendly lady boss. As we were looking undecidedly at the lunch menu, she offered us the dinner menu to see if there something that we would prefer instead. We ended with the curry chicken with steamed rice and Penang fried kway teow, both were really good, especially since it was our last day in Auckland after spending 10 days in NZ! The lady boss recommends that we must try their beef rendang the next time and if I come back to Auckland, that would definitely be on my to-eat list! I would highly recommend this place for their authentic Malaysian fares, especially the Penang dishes! It's walking distance from Queens Street and is in this eclectic neighbourhood filled with thrift stores and an Asia food court and supermarket. A nice neighbourhood to stroll and to look for hidden treasures.

Sri Pinang is a true gem for authentic Malaysian food in K’d road for over 34 years!! The dishes are full of flavour, generous in portion, and bring out the richness of traditional spices without being overwhelming. The roti is light and crispy, perfect with their rich curry sauce. Service is warm and friendly, making you feel like a regular even on your first visit. A must-visit spot in Auckland for anyone craving real Malaysian comfort food. Very affordable price. Will definitely come back again.

The best Malaysian restaurant in city by far. Have been coming here for last 18 years and have never been disappointed. Angie and her team are awesome. Keep up your great work.

Been wanting to try for a while now and so glad I finally did! It exceeded expectations and topped one of my other favourite, and similar Auckland Malaysian restaurant. We managed to get a table without booking (though Monday night) and the lady that served us was also super friendly. We got 3 dishes and an extra rice between 2 people and it was more than enough - we got sambal kang gung (malay veggie not on the menu but we asked if they had stock!), rendang beef, and stir fried spicy squid. Everything was super delicious and even my partner who is Malaysian said it was really good. 100% recommend.

CLAY POT CHICKEN RICE - A must have dish here. The clay pot chicken rice is served in a big sized clay pot, which comes out nice and hot. As time passes the rice at the bottom becomes deliciously golden and crunchy. Generous amount of vegetables and chicken. Abundance of ginger and garlic flavours. We also had the Beef Rendang following glowing reviews by everyone. It was nice, but I think I had too high expectations of the dish. Staff were friendly despite being very busy. Will be back again!

I walked in randomly without booking on a Saturday night, the place was really busy but lucky we were able to get a table. The staff was super helpful and friendly. My friend has a few allergies and they did their best to accommodate for it. The food was good, massive portions we ended up taking half of it away.

Beef Rendang lived up to its expectations. Food overall was fantastic. Took forever to come though. An hour wait for starters was too long while we witnessed others eating. Service is minimalistic. Food is divine. Very noisy tiny space.

I had high hopes despite my wife’s doubts. I wanted a burger but didn’t want McDonalds. Ordered a classic cheeseburger, but had to wait 10mins for it. When it did come, the burger was presented neatly and nicely wrapped for eating. However, wife said it tasted just like McDonald’s. Doh! 🤦🏻‍♂️ Patty on the small side, but I would add it came with generous servings of lettuce, and was slightly more sophisticated than maccers! But better? Jury’s still out.

So, it’s been a few years since I tried b better Burger. I find their quality has declined considerably since they first took the burger scene by storm. But a bad experience a few years ago turned me off and I haven’t been back since, until I visited the one in Auckland International Airport while waiting for a flight. I should have passed on this one too. The burger was ok, but the fries, once one of their signature items was cold and stale. I’ve had oven fries that have been better. Do yourself a favour and give this one a miss too.

Of all the places available, this is the Go-to place to get food. Cheap, fresh and soo delicious. The crisp fresh lettuce, actual lettuce leaves, not the usual shredded fast food lettuce crap! Tomato & onions both fresh too, complimented the beef perfectly. $12 for the cheeseburger, which at an airport for a freshly cooked burger is a bargain. Service was friendly & fast. This will be my spot anytime I'm in the NZ international airport 😊

Quite disappointed with both the service and food. The mushroom burger used to be great, but not anymore. This is my second and last visit. Sadly, it took away the excitement of starting the holidays. 😔

We ate here before our flight, ordered just 10 minutes before closing time. Guy who took our order was okay, lady that gave out our food was really nice! Fries were totally okay, burgers too. Obviously, you shouldn't expect a gourmet/artisan burger, but its much better than mcdonalds!

Had the bbq, bacon, cheese beef burger - with no cheese. So so flaming good. Seriously good burger. Mmmmmm

Our burgers 🍔 were tasty. 😋 The burger's meat was juicy as it should be. If you want salt, you can add it to your burger. We ate the Double Cheeseburger and the BBQ Bacon. Both were juicy and delicious. 😋 The bacon was not overcooked nor undercooked. We ate our burgers with Smokey Barbecue and Garlic Aioli, which we had with us. With those sauces, the burgers were just spectacular. 😋 Better Burger should make those sauces available to their clients.

Used to be my fav stop for Malaysian food, but not yesterday. Had nasi.lemak with fried chicken. so disappointed that chicken is dull, no taste at all.

The cashier, the staff are friendly 😊 The food is amazing..ordered for mee goreng, nasi lemak, karipap 2set. This is second time ordered for karipap..first time ordered for 1set is not enough because it’s too good. The portion of the food can be shared with two persons. Ordered teh tarik also and tapaw in my thermos..it is so good..feeling like in Mamak. Actually nasi lemak for take away but I insisted to eat straight away🫢maybe the portion of the sambal can be increase some more. They sent out a burnt roti for a delivery order. Have work ethics and some standards to your products, especially food. This is beyond disrespectful to customers.

If you’re after a cheap eat in central Ponsonby that is satisfying, nutritious and delicious, as well as good value then look no further. About $25/ meal and it was massive. They also cater for celiac using rice noodles.

Staff are amazing very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and well prepared. Not the best Raman ive have in Auckland but I would definitely still come back to dine again as the space ans team.are so nice. Atmosphere is great. Just the tables are so close together it kinda takes away from it a little and the two women next to us decided to air there drama and have a little domestic while my pregnant wife and I tried to enjoy a nice meal together. But I totally get why the tables are like that because its a small popular place and I would do thr same if I was the owner. Thanks team ar Takara you should all be proud of your efforts.

It is decently cheap for a bowl of ramen. It is on the less salty side, perfect for a Japanese palate, otherwise you can always adjust it by adding more soy sauce. It is decent enough for a quick yummy Tonkotsu Ramen, tho I think the Karaage is a bit overpriced.

If ramen is what you’re craving this one hits the spot. The seasonal tomato ramen filled my winter singed heart with joy. I’ve been here a bunch and can attest to most of the menu and say - I’d have that again. Depending on the night you either get table service or a QR code - personally I’m not a fan of the QR ordering as I quite like the experience of conversing and asking questions when needed but overall it’s still a really nice atmosphere. Bomb food, ace sake, the cocktails looked on form.

Nice and clean setting. The food was served fast and it got busy quickly. The dishes were delicious and the menu is extensive including a variety of dumplings.

Appalled at their rude service. We went in late at night (Monday) to the restaurant when it was relatively less busy and ordered one dish of fried dumplings. After waiting around 10 minutes, the lady working told me they had run out of the dumpling flavour that I had ordered, so we went with another substitute. After waiting around another 20 minutes on top of that, I began seeking a refund at how absurdly long the wait was just for one plate of fried dumplings. Other tables with much larger orders who arrived after us had been served before us, and dumplings are less complicated to cook. I first asked the lady how long it'll be, and she said it would be there soon. After waiting even longer, I complained about the wait and told them I no longer wanted the dumplings and sought a refund. While I was doing that, this man who seemed like the store owner kept grinning at me and my wife, as though he took pleasure watching us wait. I'm not sure if this was because my wife is black, so the staff decided to serve the non-black people who came after us with more complicated orders first. I won't make any accusations here, but I found it quite suspicious. Moreover, that man was playing games on his phone rather than doing something to help us get our food ready to us in time. It was very disrespectful. The lady then reassured me that the dumplings would be ready in "one minute". That "minute" felt like three minutes. The dumplings finally claim, and the lady did apologise for the wait. However, when we tried the dumplings, they were very bland. We were never told in advance about the absurd half-hour long wait time for a simple dish. We were already very tired and this very long wait that made us have to go to bed late was the last thing we wanted. Not to mention the disrespect we received.

Drooling good food!!! Tender tasty meat, broth to die for, deep fried food cooked to mouth watering perfection. This beautiful little restaurant may be small in size but the food is larger than life. You are seated with a menu that has plenty of options to choose from. To order you write down the correlating number from the menu on to a piece of paper, then take the paper to the counter where the amazing host looks after you. You then collect your own utensils, glasses, and plates etc and wait to be served. The food here is exquisite! Truly tantalizing. If you're looking for authentic, this is where you will find it!

Arguably the worst chicken fried noodles I've had for $20. They charge a surcharge of 2.5% for paywave and credit card transactions. They even charge you extra for takeaway boxes. You are expected to approach the counter for everything viz water, cutlery etc. Didn't feel welcomed at all. Definitely not at all impressed with their customer service. Food was extremely average for the price. They had only one variety of noodles (thick noodles). Honestly I've had so much better for a lesser price elsewhere. Will never be going back neither will I recommend this place to anyone else.

More or less wound up here on Accident since everywhere else was full on a public holiday. Best mistake I ever made. Food was incredible and portions were excellent. We even had a 10% Holiday Surcharge and still spent less than $20 per person (we weren't able to finish our food and had to take a dish home). If I had to recommend just one dish, I'd go with any of the dumplings. They're quite literally the best dumplings I've had outside of China. The noodles were also excellent

However, I was really looking forward to enjoying the dumplings at home, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. As I unpacked them, I discovered a hair in the food. This was quite off-putting and definitely affected my appetite. I hope the restaurant can improve their food preparation hygiene. During our visit, two waitresses were speaking very loudly, creating a disruptive environment. Their conversation sounded like a heated argument, which significantly detracted from the tranquility one expects in a dining establishment. Furthermore, a notable inconvenience was the complete absence of a toilet facility within the restaurant, which is a significant oversight for any public establishment serving food. While the quality of the food was commendable, the negative aspects of the service and the lack of essential amenities made for a less than ideal experience.

Eden Noodles is a popular Chinese cheap eats restaurant in Auckland. They serve a variety of Chinese food, with a focus on Sichuan cuisine. I ordered Spicy beef with potato on rice ($15.5). Ordering + Order and pay at the counter first. Picking your autistic seat + Staff pick it for you, fat chance it won’t screw you up. You can check my photo and video for the restaurant layout. Water & Napkins + Water is self service. + Napkins is on the table. Food - 8/10 + Actually I’ve tried this place twice. First time I ordered Wonton in chicken soup, it was delicious. Second time I ordered Spicy beef with potato on rice, the portion is good, big chunk of meat. The problem is the rice, too mushy and gooey. Flavour is fine, not my favourite. Service - 9/10 + As long as no one interrupts me eating and nothing unhappy happens. That’s already a 9. Good job. Overall I will give this restaurant 5 stars. 🤓👍

I finally checked out this place again.! Let's talk about their Dandan Noodles, because that's where it's at for me. The portion sizes are just very accommodating, they've got S, M, L, and XL. Now being Asian, my brain automatically goes for the M, and trust me it's a perfect satisfying amount. The L? You're gonna be stuffed, like Thanksgiving dinner stuffed. And the XL? Oh boy, that's gotta be the size they feed the All Blacks after a big game! Now listen up spicy lovers! If you're thinking about going for the mild or even the medium spicy, just... don't. Seriously. I went for the medium and it was like a gentle whisper of spicy. If you want that real kick, go straight for the spicy! Trust me on this one. The place itself is pretty popular so be prepared for it to be crowded. It gets quite packed which is a good sign, right? They're definitely kid-friendly and have some highchairs around, so toddlers are good to go. But if you've got a little baby, it might be a bit hectic with the crowds. The staff is super friendly, they move like ninjas! The whole place looked clean when I came, which is a big thumbs up in my book. So yes, Eden Noodles is one of my fav especially that Dandan noodle? chef's kiss....

Eden Noodle serves tasty, comforting noodles with rich and satisfying flavors. You can choose the level of spiciness, type of noodles, and portion size—the spicier it is, the more oil it has. Great spot for a quick and satisfying meal.

Incredibly disappointed at the Braised mince pork rice bowl. They have 2 serving sizes, small & large, and this was the large for $17. I brought the bowl up to the staff and asked if this was a large or small, and instead of giving me an answer, he asked what did you order? Told him i know what i ordered but i just wanted his quick thoughts on what size it was, he hesitated for a while before he said it's a large. I then asked him what does small look like, and he didn't really give me a clear answer instead tried to look busy and then preceeded to ignore a disappointed customer.

XL Chicken Plus was fantastic! paired that with the fries *chef's kiss* There needs to be a spicy seasoning option and not the weak spicy seasoning. I'm talking about stomach churning, lip burning, toilet crying, life regretting spicy level. Definitely coming back for that XL chicken goodness!

A big portion of XL Friend Chicken Extreme 🤩. The taste was good 👍 First time trying their Jasmine Milk Tea and the chicken bites rice bowl. They were so good 😍. Free milk tea for every purchase of rice bowl till 19 May 😍.

I ordered the braised pork belly rice bowl with a side of chicken bites and peach green tea with pearls. The food here is always super tasty and great for having a big meal or even just for snacks. I recommend having their rice bowls with a refreshing tea drink like the peach green tea! (Don't forget to add any toppings of your choice). The chicken bites are also super popular from here so it's a must try from the menu!

Delicious Korean pancakes. Brown sugar peanut, beef and cheese and ham and cheese. Good customer service and coffee and ice cream available.

SO DELICIOUS! One of the best foods I’ve had in a while. We tried chicken cheese, beef cheese and chocolate. All SUPER flavourful and yummy! Has a perfect amount of cheese in the savoury and generous amount of filling too. Chocolate wasn’t overly sweet, it was perfect! Has a savoury and sweet menu; perfect for a quick snack or a light lunch. Not to mention, a great price and very affordable! Overall, pancakes were doughy and flavourful - 10/10 recommend! Soooo tasty 😊 You can eat it by the beach or on the many benches nearby, it’s a lovely area but parking can be hard sometimes (but so worth it).

The worst butter chicken I have ever had. The sauce is so diluted it has no taste; the chicken was overcooked and dry to a point it's rubbery. The garlic and cheese naan was staled and again no taste to it. Won't go back again and do not recommend.

Adorable industrial cafe! This is a chain, but this location is so cool. You can watch them make and cook the bagels as you order. The sandwiches were very good and the ingredients high quality. A bit pricy, but well worth it!

This place made me fall in love with bagel ❤️ their bagel is crispy on the outside and soft inside. The sesame or spices on top of the bagel toasted with fire gives it extra fragrant. We had King Salmon and Mean Joe Green, and it’s so delicious and perfect for breakfast. Love the cozy environment too with fireplace, warm us up during cold weather. It’s a lil bit pricey but worth it 👍

I’m a big bagel lover, so I will give the bagels 5/5, ordered the basic bagel with only butter, soft and fluffy. You can see someone is making fresh bagels, and I loved how they represented sauces. However, the price is not reasonable, too expensive😭$5.9 for only a bagel with butter, if you want vegemite, $3 extra

Holy crap it was great - like a real Montreal bagel but a NZ approach (I asked for cream for my coffee and he got me heavy cream LMAO, but his colleague quickly said I think you need milk! Haha loved it!)

This was the absolute highlight of our day!! Ms. Nikita, Ms. Harwinda, and Mr. Alex were such a dream (along with the rest of the staff!)! We arrived planning to have breakfast and it happened to be a day where they were teaching kids to roll their own. Our kids (ages 3 and 6) had so much fun! They got to go behind the counter and roll bagels alongside the masters. Then they got to watch the cooking and baking process. The end product was so scrumptious!!! Thank you so much! Also, the filter coffee. We would go back just for this coffee.

I recently visited this restaurant over the weekend. I ordered the Spicy Chicken and the Dry Pot Cauliflower, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The Spicy Chickenwas a standout—boneless, tender, and easy to eat. While I would have loved a bit more crispiness, the flavor was incredible: spicy, savory, and perfectly balanced. The Dry Pot Cauliflower was tasty, packed with bold flavors that paired so well with steamed rice. It’s the kind of meal that keeps you going back for more! The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. But it is a bit pricy.

It’s been a while since we last went to Barilla Dumpling, but sadly, this visit wasn’t great. The dumplings were a bit disappointing—skin was quite thick and not much juice inside. Even the white rice was kinda dry and hard. We also tried the sweet and sour pork, but the meat was tough. Luckily, not everything was bad! We still enjoyed the deep-fried beans and the crispy chicken—those two saved the meal.

If you are after a feast of dumplings, then Barilla Dumplings is a good option. Lots of variety to choose from. Choose your meat filling and this may be with cabbage or Chives etc. Ask for it to be made Steamed, Boiled or Pan Fried. They have other dishes such as Fried Rice, Noodles and Stir Fried dishes too. Good value for money.

Food is average tasting but is inexpensive. The staff are attentive and quick to response. Fried rice and sweet and sour pork came out very quickly upon ordering but it took a while for the dumplings to come out. Sweet and sour pork was nicely done. The dumplings had thick wrap which made us feel bloated after eating. Over all, considering the price we paid for, it was good.

One of the signature iconic Auckland eats that are cheap and filling! I ordered the pan fried dumplings and I thought it wasn’t as crispy as it needs to be but filling was flavorful. The dumplings were juicy for sure.

Really authentic and nice dumplings! My go-to for dumplings. A Dominion Road classic. However be aware that the service is blunt and direct so no smiles to be had here. Still in their old premises after all these years but what's changed are the prices! Now a plate of dumplings is close to $20 sadly.

We were passing by Balmoral and wanted to get a quick dinner. Sholin Kungfu is a must try place, they have a lot to offer in their menu and the food is delicious. We loved the Kungfu chicken dumplings, hot 🥵 and sichuan pepper adds to the flavor and sensations. I would be visiting often to try all items on the menu, specially the steamed boas (buns) 😋

This is a 回族 (Hui ethnic group) restaurant, which means it follows Halal dietary practices. So, don’t expect to find pork on the menu, and you cannot bring your own food – something to keep in mind if you're dining with a group that has mixed preferences. The menu itself is unchanging, which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you're after. For us, it’s comforting to know exactly what we’re getting, and the dishes we love are always available. The noodles are the star of the show – fresh, chewy, and full of flavour. Whether it’s the beef noodle soup or the dry noodle dishes, the quality is consistently high. You can even see the chefs working in the open kitchen, which is located right inside the restaurant. It’s fascinating to watch them stretch and pull the dough by hand – a real showcase of skill and tradition. That said, there are a few areas where the restaurant could improve. The tables and chairs are often oily, which detracts from the otherwise authentic and casual vibe. It’s not a dealbreaker, but a bit more attention to cleanliness would go a long way. I tried their seafood handmade noodles. Delicious and chewy. The large portion is good even for two persons who are not super hungry. I also tried their kumara and taro balls. I loved them. They are good as dessert. Prices are reasonable and they have 2 floors so they can accommodate even a big group upstairs. Service was also quick and you need to pay when you order.

Delicious hand pulled noodles! Tried the cleaver sliced beef noodles and it was YUM. Meat was soft and tender. The lady in store was always all smiles and made every effort to welcome every customer that walked in and thanked upon leaving.

A good little place to have your meal. The seating is limited. The menu is quite extensive with both rice and noodle selections. There is also a special menu for daily specials. The service was alright as I think the staff couldn't understand us well and lacked of recommendation. The dishes were served fast and the portion was huge.

We tried beef noodles which were quite nice but also had lots of fat attached as per another review here. They serve hot tea for free which is quite nice prior to a meal. We also tried dumplings which were quite bland and not the best dumplings but not the worst and with the Chilli and vinegar sauce it was yum. I'd recommend trying it and seeing if it's up your alley for food

Great value for money, incredibly fast service. Food came out around 7 or so minutes after ordering! My personal favourite for dishes was the green beans with pork mince and the chilli chicken! We also ordered some chicken fried noodles and combination noodles which were both yum but nothing exceptional. The cucumber salad was nice and fresh and helpful to cut through the spice!! All in all great experience would 100% recommend for anyone wanting to eat out on dominion road

Finally got to try this restaurant after passing by a few times and always seeing it packed. Made me curious, and now I know why! The food is really tasty and suits our palate well. The dishes are rich in flavor and come out pretty fast too. The place isn’t very big, but definitely worth a visit especially if you like spicy food (they can also make it non spicy if you prefer). Highly recommend trying their Spicy Chicken, super flavorful and addictive!

I’ve been to Spicy House many times, and it’s always a solid choice. We always order the Chili Chicken, which is delicious—flavorful, spicy, and satisfying every time. The place can get pretty busy, but the service is quick, which is a big plus.

Rubbish food. Waste of money 💰($45) "I was disappointed with the quality of the food. I ordered spicy veg fried rice and got mild, and I asked for spicy food, and overall, the taste did not meet expectations. Then I called them they said bring food back.Went back there, got the replacement of extra hot veg fried rice, which I can't eat, thinking they got frustrated with complaint and put rice in fried chilly not chilly in fried rice. hope the restaurant improves its quality standards.

These clipped lid takeaway containers need to go. Please get something that CONTAINS the food. I packed my bok choy in here with the sauce and drove home and the liquid went everywhere. It opens very easily what’s the point of them? please provide regular containers for takeaway. Also the spicy food we ordered was not spicy and the store is called spicy house? Fried rice lacked flavour. Chicken in the chicken fried rice looked like it was boiled and it was very dry. We spent well over 200 dollars dining in and we did not get our moneys worth. Very good quality at a reasonable price. Everything we ordered is on point. I especially enjoyed the sparerib in secret sauce, intestine and sweet and sour pork. White rice comes free when you order. The place is small and has few tables so you have to plan ahead your visit when coming.

AMAZING! The place was fully packed on a Saturday dinner but the staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. The food came in quick and we were blown away Pork Hock- succulent, moist and flavorful! My young son loved this so much! Chili Chicken- my partner loved this! Deep Fried Tofu with sweet and sour- could be crunchier but still great Deep Fried Squid- delectable, spicy and just yum!! Our price range was higher all because we ordered a lot and basically took away a lot home too. Our kid just planned that his dad's birthday will be happening here. Definitely a must try and we are coming back soon (maybe next week 😆)..

Had been hearing a lot of good things about Sneaky Snacky so went ahead and ordered both their trademark donut burgers. Hot Chicken Donut Burger (Original Spicy, Non-glazed): The chicken thigh was delicious, super juicy and very spicy. Really appreciate that they are generous with the portion of chicken! The donuts were soft and fluffy, I think I might just prefer them over regular buns. The dill mayo and gherkins were a great addition. I have a high tolerance of spice, but the heat of that Nashville fried chicken can be a bit overpowering. I'd definitely recommend going for glazed buns to cut through some of that heat if you're ordering medium spicy or hotter. Original Donut Burger (Glazed): The best part about this burger was the glazed donut. Very unique and I'm glad it exists. The rest of the burger was just about okay. The beef patties were lacking some flavor and the kimchi fritter didn't really work for me. Could do with a better sauce to add some kick. Size of the burger was adequate.

Heard a lot about this food, unfortunately me and my two friends were very disappointed, overall we had both the chicken and beef versions of the donut burger, should we have known better than to purchase this yes, however excited at the idea we were disappointed to see that the execution was not there, incredibly messy, flavours were not really enjoyable, very wet, and overall a bit gross. Hot, soft inside, crispy outside, just divine! Every single dish was chef’s kiss. The service was lovely too—friendly staff and food cooked to absolute perfection. Only downside? Did a takeaway, just an all around good donut burger. The sour pickle cuts through the sweetness of the glazed donut bread, the chicken batter is crispy, meat is so full, juicy, and lean. The spice is a good kick, while the rich mayo with dill just brings the whole burger together. Tried the impossible patty as well but definitely go for the original chicken burger. One of the things I’ll miss about NZ honestly🥹

Outstanding fried chicken - I visited Peach's again after a long time. I forgot how good it was! The chicken was moist while the battery was crispy and packed with punchy flavour. I had the waffles which were super fluffy! 👌 The burger was juicy and hits the spot. Their 1L size drinks are also super handy especially if you're in a group. The peanut butter mousse pie is divine honestly.

Had the chicken waffles, absolutely delicious. The chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly,waffles were buttery and sweet with the maple sauce. Service was fast and friendly. A big car park at the back so parking nearby was easy. Definitely worth coming if you're visiting Auckland or are a local too 😊

The fried chicken was tasty, though not the best i had. And the portions including the sides could be a bit bigger. Visited on a friday evening and waited about an hour and half from arrival until the food came out. The ‘mild plus’ spice level was already quite spicy in my opinion. overall good good and service but wouldn't rush back if i have to wait that long for a table and food.

The home of amazingly made chicken, where medium will knock your socks off. Got the big dark because thigh is OP and breast meat is mid. Highly recommended, but wait times on Friday and Saturday may be up to 15 mins.

Everything was edible, but nothing special. Popeyes has more tasty chicken, and their sides are way better for a lot less money. The chips were terrible, frozen fries made at home have more going for them, these were sad & soggy. Coleslaw was below average, limp and tasteless. The place was busy so we had to sit outside, listening to some absolutely terrible "music". They had a Halloween theme going on so why not match the music? The themed drinks were a nice touch, so that added a star. Service was good.

We are regulars with my partner, and the food is always the same. He ordered the chicken waffles mild, and I got the baller medium (I like the spicy, but the medium is more than the normal level; it has a big click at the end of each bite)

What can I say, I really enjoyed it. You'll get excellent value for your money on top of a great in store experience. Just a friendly word of advice when it comes to the hot scale, don't be fooled by the Nashville "medium"... Look at the chillies on the Menue, it'll be a great indicator how hot it is ;-).

Free hot tea as soon as we walked in. Insanely good dumplings and excellent value for money. We cannot believe our luck finding this place. It's not a flash restaurant but it's not meant to be. It's supposed to be non-pretentious amazing street food, and it delivers! We will be back for sure!!!

Many people come here for the yummy dumplings, not me😜 I'm here to enjoy their great skills of Chinese stir-fry menus, they are just yummy as you can imagine. They welcome you to BYO so it's very popular around young kiwis. I really enjoyed how spacious this Barilla is! I’ve been to both Barilla Dumplings on Dominion Road now and the offer the same excellent service and food. We came for lunch and enjoyed the swift service and endless Pu Er Tea. Highly recommend their Vegan Dumplings and the Dry Tofu in Sauce dish. I’ve never had these tofu ‘noodles’ before but loved them! We ordered four dishes for four people and it was perfect.

They have a varied menu, fast service. There are many tables suitable for couples, families and large groups. Food feels fresh, full of flavor, not too spicy. Everything looks clean, the price is reasonable.

This is the shop if you want to eat Chinese dumplings. Both fried & steamed dumplings are delicious. Fried rice, sweet sour pork & other Chinese dishes are yummy as well😀

It had been awhile since I had ordered from here but ordered dinner from here recently and I went back three times to order dinner to takeaway. I ordered the cucumber salad (#73), wonton soup (#84) and corned beef Chinese burger (#9). All of it was delicious and I'd highly recommend drizzling the chilli sauce from the salad onto the corned beef in the burger if you order it. Great flavour as the burger is quite dry without some sort of sauce. You could even stuff some of the salad in it too or just eat it together. I've ordered #8 in the past but it was just a bit too fiery for me and should have a two chilli rating rather than one chilli. Staff are nice.

Xi Ann Food Bar is a cozy, small shop that punches well above its weight. They make their own noodles from scratch, which truly elevates the dish. We highly recommend trying their cumin lamb noodles—they’re delicious, packed with flavor, and the portions are huge, easily enough to share between two people. The unique, fresh quality of the homemade noodles and the well-balanced seasoning make for a memorable dining experience. One noodle cost about 15$.

My favourite place in the whole of Auckland for noodles. Don’t underestimate this small shop tucked away in the corner. The cumin lamb noodles are the best - flavour is spot on, noodles are nice and chewy and portion size is perfect. Always find myself coming back every couple months.

AMAZING food! We got the cucumber salad, the veggie hand-pulled noodles and the hand-pulled noodles with pork and it was soooo delicious! The portions were very good and the staff very nice :-) We would definitly recommend!

There’s really nothing fancy about Xi’an but there’s a lot that’s special about it. You go there for the hand pulled noodle soup and it doesn’t matter which one you choose, it’ll be good. If you like authentic food that’s full of flavour and of amazing value, then this is the place. Xi’an is an institution that will outlast any fancy restaurant out there. Would I like a beer with my food, yea I would but also, I’m glad I don’t get to have one - healthier you know. My pork noodle soup was everything I wanted it to be, warming and perfectly seasoned, it was a simple dish so it was nice to add a little pickled garlic to it, that tastes like Chinese medicine and not garlic at all - super unique flavour, not spicy, not even garlicky. I always get pickled cucumber, every place does them differently and I love all of them, crunchy, fresh, spicy, saucy yum!

Their hand-pulled noodles have a good texture. Flavours are fine too. But the meat portions are ridiculously insufficient, even for the extra large sizes.

I'd say that I'm surprised by this place! Firstly, the portions are huge compared to the price I'm paying (my pinky for comparison). The meat is extremely tender, noodles are perfectly bouncy, and soup is flavourful! As an Asian guy, I strongly approve this place!

We came and had lunch as part of the “restaurant month” specials. We had the pastrami and PB cookies with ice cream. Also ordered a poutine as we were starving. The vibe is very chill and we sat in the higher chairs in the middle aisle. Our waiter was very hospitable and made us feel very comfortable. Would highly recommend to others, although the number of patrons was already telling on how popular this place is. Thank you for a great time.

The restaurant is cool, it kinda too me back to NYC but the food was really avarage. The pastrami had no rind, no peppery taste, it cut too thick for pastrami. Fried pickles were good. Did the food make me wanna go back? Probably not. Too avarage and too expensive for what it was.

Absolute disappointment. Ordered the Meatloaf ($29), fries ($12) and coleslaw.($10) The meatloaf was two thin slices stacked on top of each other (zoom up on the photo, it’s also a small plate), a heap of spinach, gravy and the smallest amount of mustard and cranberries. The dish should have been called “Spinach with a side of Meatloaf”. Daylight robbery for $29! The meatloaf was very tasty though…..but two thin slices….what are you playing at??? The fries were meh…..they were salted and chicken salted….dear I say it, you get better fries at Burger King & KFC. The coleslaw was freshly made but wasn’t tangy…..it just tasted like cabbage and mayo with nuts. New World ($1.99) and KFC ($7) do better coleslaws. Very disappointing as it was a dinner and show night at SkyCity……Federal Deli dampened our night 😒

We had to wait about 20 minutes for our food, but it was definitely worth it. The meal was filling and delicious, paired with some nice, filtered coffee. The thick, meaty Reuben sandwich really satisfied our hunger. The option to order through the app is also a convenient touch.

Nice views with a little rustic feel. The stairs can be daunting in a long dress and place usually gets quite crowded. We were lucky to get a spot without reservation around closing time. It was more of a late night snack but there were other options if you needed more. Mocktails and prawns were yummy.

Central city venue that was convenient to us looking for somewhere in the heart of Auckland...and it was well staffed. I have had better food options here in the past. This time I didn't get the authentication of "tasty" Mexican food. Service was obliging but only after being prompted by us. However staff were very friendly. Sadly the food was not up to previous standards.

The OG Mexican Restaurant in Victoria St for decades. Visited recently after a long hiatus. Thought was closed down..but still operating. The food is decent and suggest stay on the authentic Mexican dishes. I had the fish which had a bit of a fishy smell. For desserts the churros was below bar..but the brownie was good.Otherwise a decent Mexican dishes and atmosphere. From my knowledge this place has been operating from the 80s.

A great Mexican atmosphere with food to match and a busy vibe. Staff were very courteous even under pressure from a busy night. A noticeable wait between 2 meals being served and the other 2 but we didn't mind. Probably not the spot for quiet dinner and conversation but that's not what we were looking for. Can't believe this was the first time I'd been here but was here for my colleagues birthday dinner and the food was just great! Fish, sizzling beef, tofu, chow mein, dim sum, sweet and sour pork and also ordered a chicken dish but can't recall which one specifically. The only dish I didn't like was the tofu but am not a fan of tofu in general anyway so this was not surprising for me. I had rice and of course BYO and I bought one of my favourite inexpensive wines (Brown Brother Dolcetto and Syrah). Can't quite recall how much the corkage is but think it is NZD3.00 per bottle. Our table was upstairs (I had no idea there was seating upstairs) and there's also tables on the balcony upstairs. I brought a cake and candles for the birthday boy. You need to book a table in advance unless you want to wait and there is a time limit if it is busy and it was on the Friday that I was there. Good location and the restaurant was a residential house so you're essentially dining in a former bedroom or in our case a former living room! Waitresses were great and took care of us.

Service was lovely, ensured we have a big enough table to accommodate a baby, a pre schooler and 4 adults. Food was tasty and fresh, very well priced for the area.

Very busy place specially on Friday evenings. You won't get a place without booking. We had good time as a group and everyone loved the food. Ice cream was very good. Plenty of paid parking and a free parking also available nearby in the streets.

Bit of a mixed experience. Great menu with range of options. Slightly pricey but portions are a decent size. The food we ate was delicious. The service on the other hand wasn't great. We were served all our dishes one at a time over a period of an hour, which made it impossible to enjoy the meal / experience.

The food and service were good. Hot and spicy prawns are a must try. However, the ambiance is not great. People are cramped into tables that are very close to each other making conversations difficult. The BYO policy allows people to get drunk, loud and rude. Staff are too nice to tell obnoxious diners to behave which makes family dining challenging. Perhaps they could have separate areas for people who want to drink and those that don't?

This vegan restaurant is perfect for a healthy and tasty lunch meal during a busy work day, plenty of seating. They've around three meal options and many salad options to choose from. Pretty tasty, healthy and reasonably priced

I'm back for a second order of mystery meals. Can't comment on service or atmosphere because I'm doing an online order. The meals are a good size, taste is yum. The only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 stars was that a few of the meals didn't have a lot of 'bite' to them- the texture a bit too mushy for my liking. I personally prefer meals with a bit more firmness and crunch. Overall though it was good and that's the reason I'm ordering again; it is very convenient and maybe this lot of 6 meals might be more on the 'bitey' side 😁

We visited for lunch today and were impressed with the excellent food and diverse menu options. The atmosphere was inviting and comfortable, making for an enjoyable dining experience. However, I was disappointed to find that the washroom was not clean, which detracted from the overall experience. Fortunately, I only discovered this after finishing my meal. Overall, this is a good spot for healthy and delicious food, and I would recommend it to others.

I had high expectations given the good reviews and hoped I have found the vegan place in Auckland but the food was quite disappointing . the meal of the day, the Shepard pie was lacking flavour and so salty. The salads were refrigerator cold so I question whether they were fresh...

Really fresh and delicious salads! I stopped in when they were having a sale - $5 for a regular salad. This was such good value for money. The salad was freshly made, filling, and healthy. The Shepard’s pie was a bit disappointing and didn’t have a lot of flavour. The rice treat was satisfying, and the dark “chocolate” was bitter but quite good.

Clean, simple, fast, tasty, and healthy meals. You can choose from the cabinet. The menu changes everyday 😋 The only suggestion is if they could add hot beverages into their menu that would be amazing 👏🏻

Iconic food truck serving burgers and chips over the decades. We had the Old School with a fried egg and beet root...and it was exactly what you'd expect. Fresh ingredients, messy, and delicious. Highly recommend while visiting the city.

Opens 630pm- if you’re there about 6pm you can see the cart being towed into place. From what I can see this is the 4th TWL cart in this spot. It’s an institution- I have been having burgers here (in my Uni youth at 1am) since 1987. The burgers are really 1950 style the ingredients, especially the crisp iceberg lettuce and fresh buns- makes the taste par excellence

You must come and have a burger here. If not, you cannot consider yourself as having visited Auckland. I always order their steak burgers instead of hamburgers. Really tender and full of flavor. Done simply and quickly by the friendliest people in the world. The food truck they operate out of provide the correct vibes for late night hunger solution to the party crowd. Always a pleasure.

Delicious food and friendly, flawless service! Highly recommended! The Thai-style pork ribs and chicken skewers were full of flavor, while the crispy chicken rice and Pad Thai are generously portioned - perfect for sharing. The roti and pork bun were also a hit. Portions were so generous we couldn’t finish everything and took the rest home ($1 takeaway box). The only downside is the limited free parking. Kiss Kiss was an awesome place to meet, chill and farewell one of our dear friends. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the chicken bao and the crispy pork!! The ginger fizz was nice too! A lovely place to dine, staff we're fantastic and friendly too.

The food is decent here. It's a nice change to have Thai food in an area that is otherwise dominated by East Asian cuisine. I enjoyed it. The decorations and atmosphere in general was vibrant and made this restaurant stand out compared to others in the area. Kiss Kiss is a nice place for a date dinner with your partner or a group of friends. Lastly, the service from the staff was excellent. All of the team was efficient at their work and polite to my friends and I. In particular, I would like to mention Quinn who was very hospitable to us. Thank you.

We went for date night and wow had a great time. Service was friendly and welcoming. We got table in balcony area and it was nice and cozy. Food was delicious, drinks refreshing. Booked a table for 4 for a family celebration. Food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Service was excellent despite being a very busy Saturday night. Definitely one of our go-to places for special occassions or when we have visitors craving Italian-inspired food. The espresso in my Affogato was a perfect finish to my meal. We also had a couple of glasses of Prosecco with our meal. My boys favourite dishes were the lamb ragu and beef cheek canneloni. Parking is a little tricky on Krd but possible to find street parking for our 8pm booking, with 15 minutes grace for our booking.

We have loved the vibe, the food and the service ! Small place with a great and friendly service. Waiter were good adviser. Food really interesting, different and delicious! Thank you, it's been a while I didn't enjoy that much to go to a restaurant and both enjoy the experience and the food! Great job!

5 of us for dinner on a beautiful Auckland evening. 2 of us arrived early and sat at the outside bar for a glass of wine. We then moved to a booth and opted for the set menu of 7 courses for $45 each. What a treat - food was all delicious but my favourite was the lamb rib. Most of our group opted to add a dessert, however these were all a bit chocolate heavy and I’m not a fan of chocolate desserts. My fellow dinners were all very happy. This didn’t detract anything for me as I’d eaten plenty, without being too full. I would totally recommend. With wine, the cost was still very reasonable.

Took friends there. Had the set menu between 6 of us. The flavours, the freshness and variety were exquisite. Beautiful wines weren’t expensive. Our waitress was amazing. All in all a great evening, we’ll be back real soon. Dave & Janine Chant

I’ve been a loyal customer for many years. I started coming here when I was still at uni and the shop was in the CBD. Now that it’s moved to the North Shore, I still make the trip just to get it. The vibe has always been great, the owner is really friendly, and the food is just as delicious as ever. Still my favourite spot after all these years.

Very unique food, I had two savoury options which was admittedly too much for lunch. The couple running the shop are very sweet and the service was great. Not much seating for eating in.

delicious pancakes! used to get them all the time in the CBD before covid, sad they closed down in town, but glad they still stand strong in two other locations, had my pancake treats(also the korean iced coffee was a bonus) today while in albany, they’re still 10/10 , if you visit auckland or in the area, please do stop by and try them out, the family who runs this place is very friendly and very welcoming! will definitely be back again soon

Nice and quiet corner with absolutely friendly shop services. It is always good to be able to sit away from busy street or cafe and enjoy some sweet. The pancake is very tasty. The red bean cake will be a must try item if you visit.

I always walked past No.1 Pancake witnessing the long queue along the pavement which discouraged me from buying/ trying, when they were still operating in CBD. Was stoked to stumble across them now reopened in Albany, when I was searching for my appointment venue on google map. They were literally just 2 minutes away from where my appointment was. Online order was made with pickup slot available in 10-15 minutes. Walked in to pick up and my order was all ready waiting for me. The owner/ operator was awesome and thoughtful, letting me know that I could help myself to the sauces in lil takeaway containers 😍. Had it not been raining heavily I would have chosen to sit outside and dug into the hot pancakes then and there to admire the charming shop decor. Alas I had to bring them home after 45 minutes drive and the cakes were barely warm. Nevertheless the pancakes were still to die for! I ordered one savoury (beef cheese) and one sweet (red bean). Generous fillings and not oily! Taste-wise : full of flavour yet not overpowering. Everything was well balanced and done to perfection! Now I finally know why people were willing to stand in the line for their pancakes! I will definitely come back for more when opportunity arise and try some other flavours.

Love the food. I especially recommend the original cold noodles, they are an absolute delight in summer. Army soup is a wonderful option for winter. I'd always get one or the other of these when visiting. They are just such classics to me. The restaurant is also situated at a nice location with Victorian Parking lot near it, I believe. And also nice stores to view around the place before or after meal as well which adds to the overall satisfaction. The side dishes are well made and a colourful blend: I especially love the kimchi. It is the perfect blend of saltiness, spiciness and other flavours. Just an awesome appetiser. Amazing restaurant.

I feel like the main dishes with $25-27 is extremely expensive (especially same price at lunch time). The portion is very small, the taste is average. There are a lot of other better Korean cuisine options in CBD.

Been going here since 2016 and the quality has been soo consistent 😍, we come back atleast once a month and it's just the best thing ever.. I always look forward to lunch the next day when I have their leftovers😂 easily the best part of my day

The food at Bannsang is absolutely unreal! Love the authentic experience of a full dish with all the sides, and it's definitely amongst some of the best Korean food I've had in Auckland. The service is quite good, and the atmosphere is chill and casual.

I have been here an embarrassing number of times this year and haven’t been disappointed once. Every dish I’ve tried on the menu (quite a few of them) have been delicious. My absolute favourite is the bbq spicy pork belly with kimchi. The service is always fast and friendly. The cold noodles are awesome too. I even took a big group of friends here for someone’s birthday dinner and everyone is still talking about how good the food was!!

A well established korean restaurant in Auckland CBD, with a solid selection of korean food at an affordable price with big portions. DWEJI BULGOGI - Recommended dish here. The sweet soy based marinade went well with the pork slices. It is served on a sizzling plate with vegetables that were not overcooked. Ordered an extra rice to finish the portion as it was so good. Yukgaejang kalguksu - the portion was large and generous. It was on the spicer side, however still delicious. The noodles had a chewy texture which was a pleasure to have and made me wonder if they hand made the noodles as it was so good. We were seated upstairs, however there wasn't particularly a serving staff based upstairs and no bell to get attention. Only noted on paying that a staff was monitoring via a cctv camera, which i think is okay but also a little uncomfortable knowing you are constantly being watched, rather than as a method of looking back to see if anything happened.

I just dined there with my 2 friends for dinner and the service was horrendous. We are so disappointed and appalled at the service. My friend hadn't finished her food and a female waitress very angrily cleared our table. We thought they wanted to close but 5 minutes after they cleared our table they seated a new table. This is not warranted. We will not be returning even though BannSang has been our go to Korean restaurant ever since it opened.

Absolutely delicious food and super friendly service! You can feel the love in the food. Had hummus and pita, kibbeh, falafel on rice and lamb mandi between two and it was perfect. Love the fresh salad as well.

Tried Hibiscus tea, Jordanian fajita, and Lamb Mandhi today — and everything was absolutely delicious! The flavours were so fresh and authentic, especially the lamb mandhi, perfectly cooked and full of spice and aroma The ambience was cosy and welcoming, and the place had such a nice Middle Eastern vibe, perfect for catching up or a relaxed meal. 💫 And the staff deserve a special mention, she was so sweet and friendly, made the whole experience even better! 💕 Definitely coming back again soon!

Very good service. Atmosphere was good, could be better. Food could be better however it did not appear authentic Jordanian. I have had authentic Jordanian shawarma and mandi before in Middle East. Shawarma bread seemed made from frozen bread… it did not seem fresh. The mandi meat was dry.

Highly Disappointing Dinner: Salty Entrees, Dry Mains, and Poor Service ​My family and I, all of whom consider ourselves foodies constantly exploring new restaurants, chose Petra Shawarma for our weekend dinner, a decision I deeply regret. ​We were all quite hungry and ordered an entrée and a main course each. I chose the falafel as my entrée, and it was so incredibly salty I couldn't finish it. It was practically inedible. For my main, I had the Chicken Shawarma with salad. The chicken was dry, lacked flavor, and tasted completely different from what I expected from a quality shawarma. While we were hungry enough to somehow finish off the main courses, the overall poor quality of the food immediately put us off. ​We had initially planned on ordering desserts, but after the awful mains and entree, we didn't even bother looking at the dessert menu. ​To top off a frustrating meal, my wife had a very unpleasant interaction with the server on our way out. As my wife politely said "Good night" while leaving the restaurant, the waitress questioned her in a way that made her feel uncomfortable and targeted. ​This dinner was a terrible experience from start to finish. The food quality was far below acceptable standards, and the poor service, culminating in the awkward exchange on exit, ensured we will never be returning to Petra Shawarma. ​Rating: 1/5

One of the most delicious and memorable meals I have had for a long time! The lovely wait person knew exactly how we should order and she was bang on. Four of us shared a few dishes and each one was just so good - fresh, nutritious, flavourful and authentic. It was cosy and comfortable and catered well for all dietary needs including excellent vegan choices. We will be back!

I recently visited this local burger joint after being away for a couple of weeks, craving a good burger. I found the place through a referral and was eager to give it a try. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, reminiscent of a mom and pop establishment, which I really appreciated. Parking was a bit limited, and there were only a couple of tables to dine in, but it seemed more geared towards takeout, which I understood. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, and the menu was clearly displayed on the wall. We ordered loaded fries, a mushroom burger, a chicken sandwich, and a calamari and jalapeno burger. The loaded fries looked appetizing, and I asked for the bacon to be substituted with ground beef. However, I was a bit disappointed to find the bottom layer of fries bare. The burgers were decent, but the buns fell apart as we ate, which affected the overall experience. The chicken sandwich was crispy but a bit dry; however, the fries were delicious. Overall, I enjoyed the ambiance of the place, but based on my experience, I may not recommend it specifically for their burgers.

i found this place through recommendations from people on reddit, and i followed them on Facebook. i was impressed with their weekly special burgers so i missioned it over there. i ordered the standard cheeseburger with extra pickles and added red onion, and a chips with aioli. there's a table outside the shop so i sat down to eat in. they bought my food out to me which was good. the portion of chips was great for $4, an overflowing chip cup in a bag, nice fresh fries. i liked that they had four choices of seasoning for the chips, and their aioli was great. the burger was okay, it is better than you'd expect from a takeaways shop, it was good but i wouldn't call it amazing. for the price it was fine, meat patties a good size, and being an onion lover i liked the sauteed onions on it. however there may have been a miscommunication as i didn't get any extra red onions on it. the added pickles were there and great pickles! i felt it was a bit heavy on the sauce, and the bun is a standard supermarket/tiptop type bun. the prices are pretty reasonable so im not faulting them on their food, just giving my thoughts. i liked how many options they had, from hot dogs to fish n chips to burgers to marinated rawfish and more. something for everyone. i think it's a good place for a reasonably priced feed, but if you're looking for something really special, go elsewhere (and spend more money haha) cheers to the team at big jays

The music playing is amazing. I made it to this restaurant, enduring my sleepiness and hunger. And the moment I ate the mexican, my stomach jumped up and my consciousness was awakened. I don't like spicy food, but the hamburger was so delicious that I ate it with gusto. It took me about 3 minutes to finish eating, but it felt like 10 seconds.

Got the cheeseburger, super steak burger and chimichanga from here. Everything was super delicious and fresh, and the burgers were the best I’ve had in a while😍😊 Really good value for money and an extra bonus is the sauces are amazing paired with the crispy hot chips. It’s great how you can choose your seasoning on the chips, and the service in store is great the people are really friendly. Overall a really satisfying meal and can’t wait to return and try out some of their other food. 😁💯🍔

I'm sorry but the burger was average and nothing to be amazed about. I actually think for all the hype about this place, it would of been bigger. Definitely will stick to burgerfuel. The fish n chips were oily. I don't think anyone can match marsics, glen innes. So clean and yum, and your fingers aren't saturated with oil lol I went to big js from reading these reviews and I'm sorry but it didn't hit for me $70 late um nope a burger and 3 meals for one packs. No way, fish was tiny, gone in one bite.

Everything on their menu is fantastic. The mac and cheese is so cheesy and good, and the burgers we've tried have been amazing. The weekly specials are so much fun, and this week is just banger after banger. Living nearby has been so bad for our bank account but so good for our soul, love this place so much ❤️

This Fish Market is a nice place if you like seafood. You can eat many things like fish and chips, prawns, oysters, and sushi. The food is fresh and tasty. The place is clean and not too busy. You can sit inside or outside. It’s a good spot to relax, eat, and talk with friends or family. The workers are friendly and helpful. There is also a shop where you can buy fresh fish to cook at home. The prices are okay – not too cheap, but the food is good. Parking can be a little hard, but the visit is still worth it. If you like seafood, you should try this place…….

Awesome fish market. Well set out. Grat that you can buy fresh fillets from Sanford and sons fishmongers and get them grilled for you at the fish market grill. They have something for everyone really. Great atmosphere. Lunch on a Thursday wasn't overly busy. Great service. I think it's better than Sydney fish markets.

The Auckland Fish Market is just a 15-minute walk from the harbor area, and my hotel concierge recommended visiting. It’s down a street that’s behind the main waterfront restaurants and bars. The market itself was much smaller than I expected. There’s only one vendor selling raw fish, while the others offered items like oysters and mussels, bagels, and sushi rolls (no fresh sashimi). There’s a small dining area with tables and chairs. My partner and I shared a bucket of mussels in tomato sauce ($15 NZD). The sauce was flavorful, but the mussels were a bit rubbery. On the plus side, the market has free Wi-Fi and public restrooms. There’s also a wholesale fish auction in the mornings for bulk buyers. Overall, compared to other waterfront fish markets I’ve visited in Europe or Asia, this one is small and underwhelming. I wouldn’t recommend visiting unless you’re already in the harbor area.

The place has been renovated since we last visited years and years ago. It definitely looks more clean and modern now. A few different vendors and there is also another food stall market area on the waterside just 1-2 mins away. A great place to come and grab lunch and have a stroll afterwards.

The outside service counter has a pretty straightforward menu and you order at the counter, sit at a table with a number and they bring the food. It's not fancy, but the fish is absolutely delicious and if you have a chance and at least one other person, I highly recommend the whole grilled red snapper. It is amazing. They cooked it to perfection. Just enough so that it was cooked through, but still tender, flaky, and juicy through and the seasonings were perfect. Topped with a few fresh aromatics, it was amazing to just eat through. The flesh on the bones is always more succulent, and the skin was crisp. Excellent with a side of fries and a salad and we had more than enough for dinner for two. Loved this so much and it was so fresh.

The restaurant is quite small with an open kitchen. Food was yummy and served very quickly. Reminded us of being in Italy, though the portions were smaller. Red wine recommended by wait staff was delicious.

My fourth visit here, this time with family to try the spring menu. We had the pear and honey special with focaccia, lamb shoulder pappardelle and the cacio e pepe. Everything was so yum, but the pappardelle was the standout for me. The staff were, as always, warm and helpful with great recommendations from the specials and wine menu. Always a great experience, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s on the next seasonal menu!

Had a great evening at Pici last Saturday the food, service, and atmosphere were all truly impressive. The fettuccine anchovy was a standout: rich, bold, and perfectly balanced. A dish that truly lingers in the memory. I also loved the selection of organic wines, with excellent pairing suggestions from the team. Sitting at the bar gave us a front-row seat to the kitchen in action — efficient, passionate, and inspiring. Overall, a delightful experience. I’d definitely return great vibes, delicious food, and a team that clearly cares.

I have to be honest my expectations are way to high for this place. Ive been wanting to try Pici for the longest time, tonight we picked this place to celebrate my brother’s birthday. The fettuccine with anchovy is way too salty for our liking I know anchovies are already salty but it’s excessive. The cacio e pepe was okay meh, not something that I would remember and rave about.

Great spot with handmade pasta. Stopped for a small plate and wine on the way through the city. It smelled great and was busy for a reason. Yum!

The staff were very well trained, all our needs were fulfilled but she was not particularly engaged. They also had a full house with just two people so maybe just understaffed and over stretched. Food was underwhelming. Some good ideas and flavours but often lacking substance. The atmosphere was amazing. Cosy candlelight, very intimate and felt special. Great date night spot for that vibe.

You arrive in heaven, meet God, kiss your gramma, and then they hand you this focaccia. The first bite of the crust brought tears to my eyes—divine. Everything was delicious. Plates to share (you don’t want to) and great timing from course to course. Some unique local wines are available and the semifredda was to die for. We celebrated our anniversary and would gladly do so again! Reservation may be helpful, we showed up at 545 and there was only one table available for walk up.

Hard working staff. Friendly, fast, helpful and gave great recommendations. They have pay wave unlike the shops in the Korean town. Very clean place. That’s always assuring. The food looked appealing and tasted great. I love watching the people prepare the dumplings through the glass window. There is a lot of that around here. So refreshing to be able to watch your meals getting made. You would definitely come back.

Came here the other day and ordered the Great White one (as I saw its under 500cals). Overall it was quite tasty but I felt the filling required a touch more seasoning ie garlic ginger etc overall though it was nice I decided to get the chilli sauce but would probably mix and match for next time

There is always a huge line in front of sumthin dumplin so i went there.. and it was fantastic! You can select the flavor and sauce. I would recommend adding some chili! It’s not that spicy and is a great combination!!

Got the OG with their chili. The dumplings are great, love the contrast of textures between the dough on too, the springy filling and the crusty yet mochi-like bottom. The sauce was just okay, it was kind of jammy but not in a good way. I'll get a different sauce nice time, because the dumplings were real nice.

A great takeaway food option in downtown Auckland. The dumplings are delicious, the staff friendly and efficient. Did not have to wait long in the middle of the lunchtime rush. There are a couple of stools inside and more seating outside on the street. A bonus is that they offer wholemeal dough wraps!

Definitely one of my top rated burger joints! Would order weekly if I lived in Auckland. I was in Auckland for 2.5 weeks and I tried it midway through the trip. I've eaten there twice now and both times were friken delicious!! Meat was cooked medium rare as well 😋

This is an every bite counts meal. You need the gravy for the salt and the sauce on the sandwich for the sweet. You pair that with gravy covered curly fries and a cold beer and now you’re talking!

Went here using First Table to get 50% off. The burger and loaded fries were great. I’d avoid the wings (but dry and not the best seasoning). The beer we tried was also great and it’s a cool little area. I do like how all the shop fronts are the kitchens and you eat in the middle atrium. I’d recommend a trip!

Had the Buffalo Chicken burger and it was just amazing. Great tasting chuck of chicken, very tasty sauce, right mix of salads and tasty sweet bun. Messy but tasted so good didn’t even mind. Chips also were absolutely golden as well. Would go back for the chips on their own.

I saw Khu Khu posted on their instagram about a $9 late night bites. I knew I must go as this is great value for money and there has been a few items on the menu I’ve been wanting to try and haven’t got around to it yet. I got the pineapple cocktail, satay tofu bao bun, dumplings and fried rice. All the food was BEAUTIFUL, taste and look wise! My only complaint is that the satay tofu bao bun was very messy to eat but delicious nonetheless. I don’t like mushrooms that much but ordered the dumplings anyways and no regrets at all, salty and perfectly cooked. I will be back for another late night bites! The restaurant was pretty busy so I decided to sit outside and asked if they could turn the heater on which the waiter had no hesitation to do so, lovely staff, great atmosphere. There sweet and sour chicken is my go-to so was nice to try some new dishes from them!

The front staff person was nothing short of phenomenal! Despite being the only one attending to all the customers, he managed everything with incredible grace and efficiency. His warm demeanor, spot-on menu recommendations, and genuine care made our dining experience truly memorable. He checked in at just the right moments, handled every request with a smile, and his passion for the dishes shone through. The food was tasty, but the service could use some improvement. I ordered a glass of Prosecco, which unfortunately was completely flat with no bubbles. When I mentioned it to the waiter, I was told that all the Prosecco was like that and that there was no more available. We dined on a Saturday evening around 6pm. I’d like to offer two suggestions: 1. It would be great to provide some training for staff on basic hospitality knowledge — Prosecco should always be sparkling and shouldn’t be served once it’s gone flat. 2. Please ensure there’s enough stock of basic drinks, especially on busy weekend evenings. Overall, the food was enjoyable, and I hope these comments can help improve the dining experience in the future.

Three tacos were rolled up all together like a burrito, was not able to seperate them because corn tacos were sticked together. Meat was cold, not even slightly warm, and flavour was very blend. It was $18. It would be better if it was rolled separately? I dont know much about the Mexican food but surely it was the worst presented food that I tried in few years. So shame. 😞

Came all the way here and was hoping for some amazing tacos on some real tortillas. Unfortunately they were closed at 8 pm, instead of 10 pm ( like it said on their website) . Very disappointed. The food looks good but didn’t get to try it. Maybe some other time

The tacos were flavourful but I probably wouldn’t go back. $18 for 3 small tacos is a rip off, especially when they charge for extra salsa. The tortillas are thin and usually you’d get 2 per taco but they just give you 1. The service was nice and the place seemed clean.

Lovely place to come and have some delicious and affordable food and drinks. So many tasty things for $8.88 on the menu and where else can you get a lager (or Pilsner) for $8.88. Cute set up inside. Tables for 6, stools round the bar and some smaller tables by the window. Would probably make a really good date place. We loved Aunty Hao’s Glass Noodles (which were actually flat thick noodles) and the beef salad. The prawn and pork shumai was pretty good, the chilli chicken lacked flavour. Being deep fried the chicken would have been kinda tasteless if not for the chilli peaces. Mum reckoned they were a bit salty. As an 89 year old Singaporean woman, she’s a pretty good judge of Asian inspired food. Nice place to come, service was helpful and friendly, cheap beer is always a winner. We loved our first two dishes, thought the second two were ok but wouldn’t rush back to order them. Again - probably a nice place to come with friends or for a date night ❤️

Lucky 8 has a nice, relaxed vibe with great service and a fun atmosphere. The food was decent, not extraordinary but still enjoyable overall. A good place to hang out with friends over a casual meal and drinks.

First time here since they changed the menu which was already good. Amazing food, staff, and ambience. Staff were really great. Spicy chicken and teriyaki chicken skewers (not pictured) were amazing, xiao long baos (not pictured) and beef dumplings were soooo good. Beef salad and curry chicken were decent but nothing crazy. Drinks were alright! Pretty good prices for the amount and quality compared to the average Auckland prices, can’t complain.

Great selection of food and very good priced. Order via phone and it comes right to your table non stop. I love this place

Came for a bottomless brunch on Saturday, they sat us right at the bar and we were delivered drinks almost non stop for the entire 2 hours. Live dj but wasn’t too loud. Incredible customer service, heaps of food provided & drinks were incredible. Highly recommend and will definitely be back soon

I have been to lucky 8 twice. I was impressed both times with the service and the food. I found the staff very attentive, despite it being a non table service restaurant. I found the app easy to order. The lamb ribs dish was a stand out. Overall it was a lovely experience. I highly recommend if you are feeling like casual dinning atmosphere.

Great ambience, friendly staff, great service and was even lucky to receive some free drinks. Affordable and drinks I had were yum. Reserved beforehand, so seating was immediate and they didnt mind that we stayed a little later. Highly recommended for that quick get together or dinner outing. Will definitely be back!

Food is delicious. I ordered beef japchae and kimchi fried rice and couldn't decide which one I liked more because they were both so good. Friendly service and a small selection of beers and soju.

I was really excited to try this gukbap since there aren’t many Korean restaurants in Hamilton 🥺. It was super delicious, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The portion of the soup was generous, and now I’m really full 😋 I wanna visit this place again when I head up to Auckland next time !

I walked in wanting a “Whole” Spicy Boneless Korean Chicken priced at $41.99, and what I got instead was this pathetic bowl of popcorn chicken. Honestly, my dog’s kibble tastes astronomically better than this. Food Review: the chicken pieces are ridiculously tiny — basically popcorn chicken size. The so-called spicy chicken has this nasty, greasy aftertaste that you don’t get at other Korean chicken spots in Auckland. The portion size is abysmal; what you see is $42 NZD worth of chicken. This restaurant doesn’t belong in Auckland, and frankly, it shouldn’t even stay in business. Take your money somewhere else — like I said, my dog’s kibble tastes better than this $42 disaster.

Since the ownership change recently, the quality of the food has decreased significantly, I have ordered the blood sausage soup expecting the sausage to be plentiful, but disappointingly only received 3 small thumb sized pieces on the side. For $26 this was a serious let down. I have visited the place for dinner after reading the older reviews but that no longer reflects the restaurant currently. I hope the owner can make changes as the current restaurant is a shell of its former self.

Great Korean near waterfront/Spark area, bibimbap was the best I’ve had and I’ve eaten at lots of Korean spots in the city! Can’t wait to return

Authentic and friendly Korean soup restaurant. They only serve one type of soup. It's very hearty and warm during winter. The soup was full of different cuts of offals and pork - make sure you add some condiments or make a dipping sauce for the meat. Don't think I would know what to order of my Korean friend didn't take me! So grab a Korean friend and visit!

Sun Dae Guk, 순대국 is very famous traditional Korean cuisine. Unbelievable, I was able to eat the authentic taste! All staffs are friendly and smilingoooooood!! Actually, I worried to them when I saw the announcement from the restaurant. Who would have been part of the order sushi at ramen restaurant? This is No.1 Sun Dae Guk, 순대국 here in New Zealand. It make you feel the spirit of Korean cuisine, I love it!

Great burger! Chips were different, I prefer normal chips which is what I thought I was getting however they are good. The photo is how many you actually get. Would definitely recommend this place for their burgers.

Craving satisfied! Great burgers for the price! You get your money's worth! A must try hidden gem here in Auckland! They also have free water. ;) I got fooled when I saw a $5 beer. It was non-alcoholic. Loool! Parking is quite tight as it is a narrow road and you park on the street. Kids meal so worth it and can feed an adult.

Lamb of god and the doctors order was 💯 GOOD!!! Would definitely come back!!! You should add milk shake to your menu!

Some of the best burgers I have ever had. The quality ingredients paired with the way they cook the beef lead to a very delicious meal. Their loaded fries are also delicious and not overpriced, like in many other places Finally the prices are excellent as well.

The best burger in the town. The quality is good. The price is acceptable. The working hours a short. The seating area behid the shop is cute. Something that I'm happy to recommend.

Without a doubt, it was the most exceptional burger I have ever had in Auckland. We opted for the GO NUTS burger and loaded fries. The burger had an incredibly delicious smoky flavor and the buns were something truly special. As for the fries, they were absolutely delightful. I owe a huge thanks to my friend for recommending this place!

Awesome burgers! Good quality good value. Great selection, everything looked so good it was hard to make a decision! I like the garden area out back and the blankets are a nice touch. There were no spring onions on the loaded fries, but otherwise good. Will be back soon to try a different burger!

Love the food. So much to choose from. It's great to sit down and have your pot of tea 🍵 brought to you as by magic. The place is not much to look at inside but use to remind me of some of the China town small side street eaters for students.

Have been to this restaurant several times. Has done some facelift outside. Inside was quite normal but spacious and pleasant. Not an upper class restaurant but the food was tasty and every time we dine in the restaurant the taste of the food was consistent. The price was reasonable. In fact the service was quite good and friendly. No worry, no language problem. The waitress spoke English. Booking is recommended if you have a big group. We still dine there occasionally. If you like Chinese food you may not like to miss this place.

The place is tidy and the shop took 2 shop lots. Heard their food was good and so just had to try. Had 4 dishes that included one steam dumpling. The dishes were a little salty as the balance between the amount of sauces used might be off. The flavours were lacking as one just can't figure out the taste! Perhaps overload of sauces, chilli, oil and possible even MSG. It was rather disappointing. Further, although we were the only customer, the wait time dishes between dishes need to improve as they came out quite irregularly. We even had to chase for our dumplings as it took almost 35mins after the first dish! Saving grace is the dumpling is fairly decent, otherwise it would be just one star. I would not be revisiting this shop anytime soon.

Fantastic place to be. This is our hot spot. Been coming here from past 6 years. There Hot and Sour soup is just mind blowing. Fried rice is one of the best fried rice I ever had. There hot tea is not as flavour as it was at other places. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. Always enjoy a meal over here.

I was hoping their "Dumpling House" dumplings would be good but it was just ok...I felt the skin was a little bit too soft like too much water. filling was alright. yum but nothing wow. slightly disappointed. but everything else was good. sauce they gave me was amazing.

Our family of 5 had dinner here for the first time and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. The French beans fried with mince pork was outstanding. The pork ribs dish is a must try. And don’t miss the claypot seafood tofo.

One of the best—if not the best—burger joints I’ve ever been to! The burgers were absolutely delicious, with soft, fluffy brioche buns that held everything together perfectly. Every bite had me hooked. The service was impeccable—super fast, well-mannered, and just all-round great. Honestly, you need a slogan like Pringles, because once you pop, you really can’t stop! Precariously located up a hill on a hill. Maybe for good reason. Fat Pukus changed my shitty day into happy. Food is GREAT service awesome and was quick given being packed. They have a specials menu on which i missed until after I ordered which has a pretty bold idea for a burger. Guess ill have to go back. Oh. No.

Just had my first burger at the Wynyard location after I’ve heard so much about them and it won’t be my last. As an American expat living in NZ for almost 10 years this by far is the best burger I’ve ever had. The burger and the bun itself are sensational. Yum, burger was so good, service was great, love the vibe of the place. Family decided to venture out for this and we were not disappointed, especially since my local is another well known buger joint and I didn’t think it could beat it. Definitely will be venturing out again! 😻

I order Fat Puku at least once a weeks. It’s my favorite burger, the Bernie Mac is my goto and the frosty fries are the bomb! It’s great tasting every time. STAY RAD!

I'll be honest, I'm not a big burger fan, but I go to Fat Pukus a lot as my son absolutely rates their burgers as 1 of the top 3 burgers he's ever had. Plus all of my colleagues LOVE them. I have to say that although I'm not a burger person, these are absolutely delicious and it's the only place I would ever eat a burger. The service is always friendly and welcoming too. Cool spot! So go and try them and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Hands down the best dumplings I've ever had in NZ! Big selection of flavours including the extremely rare lamb ones. The place is stylish and very clean. Good for family dinners out. As an added bonus they also sell frozen dumplings, so you'll never run out of goodness at home :). Totally worth a visit and highly recommended! A+++

This was an accidental find for my husband and I. It seemed like a great place to get quick bite on a wet Wednesday night. We ordered the pork and cabbage dumplings which were amazing. Their chicken and beef dishes were delicious too. It’s an authentic establishment wth homely comfort food. It’s probably has become our favourite dumpling place now. Keep up the food work guys.

An Impromptu visit for a dinner for 2. Great service. Great food. Great price. We had the 18 dumplings for $15, also have the half & half option, we chose 9 beef & onion, 9 lamb & carrot. Had them with soy sauce & spicy oil. Delicious. And off the chalkboard at entrance, Special #1 Beef, noodle & vege soup. Special #3 Beef & noodle soup, hold the soup. I enjoyed my time with my wife here. Thank you.

This is one of the more authentic dumpling places in Auckland. The dumpling skin is not overly thick as it is in many restaurants, the filling is generous and of excellent quality, and their steamed, boiled and pan fried dumplings are all equally good. Also, their prices are much more reasonable than far inferior dumpling places and the service is great. Highly recommend.

Tasty dumplings! My friend ordered Lemon chicken which was well flavoured but would recommend to eat with rice or as a share dish. I ordered Bianfu Noodles, although the taste was good I didn't realise they are cold noodles so I wouldn't get them again as I prefer hot noodles! Otherwise, I would definitely eat there again, service was friendly and the restaurant was clean and presentable. Would happily dine here again. :)

Really warm and kind customer service, the woman who cared for us, even gave us little rice pops while we waited for our food. Best dumplings I've had in ages, easily beats those on Dominion Road. We will certainly be returning! Thanks so much for a lovely meal!
