Wow! This small restaurant felt like such a hidden gem! The service was incredible with a very friendly waiter who engaged well with everyone, even popping to the sister restroom a few doors down for another bottle of wine. The food came out when it was ready making the service seem slow but this was perfect as we could enjoy each dish thoroughly. Lots of vegan options - I would highly recommend the garlic bread and mushroom & white bean soup. The portions were large and perfect for sharing. I wish this restaurant was near where I lived so I could go back!

Absolutely stunning. Tried to come last year on vacation but couldn’t get a table as they were overrun with guests. Finally moved to Coimbra and we had to make it one of our first stops. Every bite was a delight. We had the degustation menu (for us, it was chestnuts with caramelized onions, beets with yogurt and pistachio, marinated goat cheese, and chickpea spread), figs with port, and the white beans and mushrooms. We chased our palettes around the table and were excited every time we returned to each plate. Every bite seemed better than the last, as we sat and enjoyed for two hours. The server taught us about the wine that we chose, and we were pleased to find it fit our meal perfectly. Neither of us is a dedicated vegetarian, though we never exclude vegetarian options, and this was easily one of the top ten meals of my life. Cannot recommend Fangas Veg enough.

Amazing little tapas restaurant, the food is just delicious, my fav was mushroom and white beans stew, also very good selected wine. For us this dinner was a highlight in the city of Coimbra. Just love it 🤗

We came here for dinner following our hotel’s recommendation, what a gift! Food was delicious, portions are generous and perfect for sharing, and the staff super friendly and efficient. Many vegan options. Definitely recommend the figs in porto glaze, perfectly paired with port tonic or a glass of house red.

Great food and service. The Eggplant Gratin was especially good. Food comes in forms of tapas so I'd recommend getting 2 tapas per person and sharing everything for a full meal. The pictures show the avocado toast and poached eggs!

This was absolutely delicious ! I never felt the urge to write a review immediately (while still sitting in this restaurant) until now. I had the lasagne together with the chickpea salad which was more than enough and a great combo. Highly recommend coming here ! By the way, this is the veggie version of the larger restaurant just next door.

This is a restaurant with a modern decor. The grilled young goat meat was delicious as well as the risotto. The cod had lots of salt, the 'migas' and soup were salty as well. The dishes are not cheap so they should have attention to this. The service was friendly. Recommended.

Not sure where to start: from a beautiful and cozy room to the excellent food made by Da Maria do Céu. Our server who happened to be the owner’s daughter Rita, made us feel welcome and at home. Very pleasant and enjoyable young lady. The food was outstanding - we had the goat and the portabello risotto. Both have the quality of local product and the homemade touch by an excellent cook. I’m thankful and definitely recommend this restaurant. I will be back!!!.

Took a while to find somewhere as all the restaurants on Google maps had closed and no longer existed so found on a chance. Thought this would be a good one to try a different dish and the goat menu was tempting when looking outside, unfortunately no prices outside from what I remember. Only scored a 3 as we ordered a carbonara for the kids and it came out very peppery, it was replaced free of charge without pepper, although the service was adequate it was minimal and the goat dishes were expensive so unfortunately didn't get to try any. The food we did order for 2 adults was great both traditional Portuguese dishes and one was particular from up north. If your a local or more common to the Portuguese language and like good tasting food then this is a place to try. Was a little bit of a let down for us tourists

Just 5 minutes away from the Conímbriga ruins you can enjoy true Portuguese food in a true Portuguese ambience. There is plenty of space to park in the surroundings and on top the village is very tipical. Nice and efficient staff. Price in line with normal Portuguese restaurants (+/- 25€ person) Recommend it.

Having eaten two times here, I had two experiences, first one good, second one borderline bad. The place is nice and service was nice too (one waiter very friendly with with the kids), but two times they forgot our order. About the food, the Picanha had many nerves and the portion of meat small for the asked price in my opinion. Some of the sides didn't fare better, something resembling "Migas" looked good but taste was bland. The octoups on the other hand looked and tasted good. Me and family left restaurant feeling we had a pretty average meal, below what reviews seem to suggest. Don't know what happened, maybe we were just unlucky that day.

Food was great! Online menu should be taken as a general sample though. Menu we ordered from was created by chef and everything was very good. I even liked the green bean soup and I don’t like green beans. Def worth popping by here.

Go to Murphy's Irish Bar across from Jardim de Sereia. It's incredible with 4 floors and live entertainment. Tell the manager Danny Pintu that Brother Jay from NYC recommended the place. He took care of me all night with gracious hospitality.

Aesthetically this place is amazing. However all their staff seem annoyed or bothered. I’ve been here a couple times hoping for a different experience only to be disappointed. I can’t put my finger on it. Other than they spent all their money on environment, little on staff development. Went to the awesome top floor to enjoy my drink not knowing it was for people eating ONLY as we were rudely told. Instead of saying this area is reserved for patron eating, would you like to see the menu, she ushered us out of the area. Missed sale opportunity!

Live music was so loud it became uncomfortable to stay inside. It was impossible to have a normal conversation and the overall experience was unpleasant

Absolutely awful experience. We spent €80 on food that was barely edible, everything was either bland or insanely salty, to the point where it felt like we were being punished for ordering. Not a single dish was enjoyable. To make matters worse, the place was completely empty, yet the staff still found a reason to ruin the evening. We quietly sat down to play a card game, nothing loud, nothing disruptive, just a simple game between friends, and were told it wasn’t allowed. No explanation, no logic, just a flat-out “no.” Since when are bars not places for socializing and games, especially when there’s no one else around? This place lacks basic hospitality, decent food, and any sense of atmosphere. Save your money and your time, there are plenty of better spots where you’ll actually be treated like a customer instead of an inconvenience.

We had a birthday dinner that was completely ruined by the restaurant staff. One of our guests wasn’t 18 yet (though she will be later this year), and as it got close to midnight, we were asked to pay and leave because she couldn’t stay past 24:00. All we wanted was to sing “Happy Birthday” to the birthday girl and then leave right after midnight. We were in the RESTAURANT area, not the CLUB , but the staff showed no flexibility or empathy. They insisted we leave immediately, which completely destroyed our plans for what was supposed to be a special evening. The food was good, but due to the atmosphere and the lack of understanding from the staff, I won’t be returning. Honestly, I think the restaurant should consider having a more thoughtful policy—maybe allowing underage guests to stay just 10–15 minutes past midnight in cases like birthday dinners. A bit of understanding could make a big difference.

We didn't get to see much of the bar as it was mostly closed. They also didn't really give us a time for when it opened upstairs for food. We went twice and still didn't get to try it

Although I came during the time that the kitchen was closed, I was impressed with the variety of beers and ability to still eat some peanuts. This pub is also large, apparently has live music every night except Monday, has plenty of TVs, and ample outdoor seating. This is the perfect spot to just grab a beer....or I suppose party at night!

The staff is so, so nice. We needed a place to eat after 9 on a Sunday and, even though the kitchen was already closed, they were really sweet and sold us warm and fresh bifanas. The bifanas tasted great and the desserts are pretty amazing too. Hoping to visit them again soon.

You gotta try this place. Different excerpts from Elvis movies on different screens with a main screen showing fantastic 50s dances accompanied by the music of that time. The food is excellent burger territory, with plenty of different beers to choose from and pizzas if you're not a burger person. The staff are friendly and helpful and try to give you what you want regardless of the language difference. Try the Portuguese Burger...GREAT! Also excellent Padron peppers!

I had a wondefuly chicken bites starter with a lovely strawberry milkshake. The milkshakes do live up to the hype. The burger meat and bacon was great, the buns were generic and I asked for sauce on the side but it was added anyway. The "cheddar" is what I call american plastic cheese, I wouldn't recommend unless you like that cheese. However forgiving the above. The whole experience was lovely, and there are of course goods and bads about the food. The atmosphere was lovely. With a great selection of modern country music

Great vibe with unusual fun decor and service with a smile. Big selection of burgers & pizza. We tried chicken, beef and vegetarian burgers all came with chips and a dip. Unanimous with everyone best burgers theyve had and the milkshakes were huge and sublime. With drinks approximately 15E a head. New large car park to the rear. Reservations not taken or required. A friend suggested the place and booked the table. It was an amazing experience from the food to the service. We had tuna tacos, rice with seafood, dessert and wine. Everything espectacular! We have tried rice with seafood in Spain but this is another style, worth trying! And we were treated like kings. Thanks!

While looking for a place to have drinks Santa Sede was recommended. Had an absolute blast!!! The owner (I think it was the owner was very nice). We lucked out with the entertainment and stayed until 3am.

I had a delightful experience at SANTA SEDE - Urban Club. The steak, bathed in a flavorful sauce, was exceptional. Hidden gem of restaurants! Pleasantly surprised from the moment we were greeted. Served bartenders choice of drink, a refreshing sparkingly citrus bubbly, starter's Salmao was perfection, Asparagus was fresh and crisp, the clams & mussel were amazing, the sauces served with all have your taste buds exploding with happiness. This little unassuming place was wonderful. We had a gathering of Expats and needed a restaurant that would accommodate all of us and Luz & Vida stepped up! Thier meals were amazing. They had several options on the menu including salmon, beef, chicken and a vegetarian option as well. The portions were hearty and the atmosphere was lovely! We did let them know in advance the number of people and the time we would be there so they could reserve our tables. Everyone was able to relax and have a good time. The food was great, especially the goat. It was very tender and flavourful. We also enjoyed the chicken and sardines. We also had a tasty custard dessert. The staff did not speak English but they were friendly and helpful. Google translate was useful.

No one spoke English but with our translation app and pictures we were able to understand each other just fine. My husband and I both ordered the daily green soup which was delicious. They also bring you complimentary fresh baked bread and olives 🫒🤤. For lunch my husband ordered the roasted goat (Cabrito ) picture below and I had steak with rice (Bife) , potatoes and greens. Almost across the street from one of our home vacation properties is a great neighbourhood eatery that serves authentic Portuguese fare at great prices. Typical, local and delicious.

Great food, ordered the steak à la 'Conversa Fidalga', the sauce was awesome. It comes with a slice of bread below the steak, but I'd recommend ordering an extra bread just to wipe all that sauce from the plate. The food overall was excellent and with the perfect amount of food per person, the service was above and beyond (they helped us reach a pharmacy to buy medicine for my youngest daughter who was getting sick) and the atmosphere was very inviting for families with kids. They were super nice with kids. Will gladly return.

I really want to give this place 5 stars but it is very rare that I give 5, in all honesty it probably deserves the highest marks possible. Excellent food, great ambience even with just a few people in and some of the best staff I have ever encountered in any restaurant, Carla our waitress was 1st class and would be a credit to any establishment. I thoroughly recommend that anyone within striking distance visits and enjoys a very good meal at a very affordable price. Thanking all the staff. Bon voyage Carla.

Elô Sushi Restaurante Our first visit to Elô Sushi Restaurante was on a beautifully sunny day afternoon many days of rain, clouds and fog. The restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows with tasteful horizontal blinds and a mostly Southern exposure looking out onto a grassy area. It was so welcoming. The place is very well decorated and the seating is very comfortable as well as attractive and blends well with the surroundings. AND, it’s not a concrete echo chamber—it’s possible to have a normal conversation with guests without raising your voice to be heard over the din of others reflected by the walls, ceiling and floor. This, to me, is a HUGE difference from many other restaurants in the area—and invites me back to enjoy the food and conversation with friends. The young waiter was pleasant and attentive, and recognized our friends from previous visits. The owner was carefully observing the sushi chef as he was preparing the food and came out to assist the waiter as more guests arrived. He brought out a dessert with a sparkler for a guest who was very pleased. My wife is not generally fond of sushi so finding other items was a big plus for her—and me (she shared delicious gyoza with me and enjoyed a pork noodle dish with a tasty broth). I ordered tuna & salmon sashimi and tuna nigiri. I am spoiled when it comes to sushi and so my first trip to a new-to-me restaurant I stick to basics that I can use to gauge the quality of the fish. I was extremely impressed with the quality of both the tuna and salmon, but ESPECIALLY the salmon—it literally melted in my mouth. The tuna was firm and tender and very delicious. I finished my wife’s noodle bowl and it was delicious. Next time—it’s sushi rolls for me along with more of the mouth-watering salmon. Elô Sushi Restaurante is DEFINITELY on my go-to list now (and it doesn’t hurt that it’s only about a 20-minute drive from our home). I only wish I had found or been told about this restaurant long before and I thank our friends for inviting us to join them. I can absolutely recommend Elô Sushi Restaurante.
