Service and atmosphere were great! The fish was nicely cooked, but i think the sea soup lacked a bit in the seasoning part... It was too mild for my liking and not as rich as i expected!

Me and my partner are vegetarian and were passing by this restaurant saw that they have one vegetarian option so decided to eat there but when the vegetarian plate arrived it was very little portion for what they we have paid. Meal was fried rice with little lentils (18€) it’s too much to pay for what we eat. I think the can improve the vegetarian meal.

The menu has a fantastic selection of dishes, we loved everything we tried. I love the creative twists on classic dishes (roasted octopus with spiced rice and toasted almonds) but The only issue which I think is the pricing of the main course dishes. They are way too expensive.

The food is outstanding— one of the best dining experiences in the area.

Amazing food. The fish soup is probably one of the creamiest and best I’ve ever had. The fried cuttlefish and tomato rice was better than in Setúbal. Amazing

Great food, an amazing service and the environment was just right. The appetizers were super, and although the wait for the “massada de garoupa” was bit more then I anticipated it was well worth the time. The “medalhões de novinho” was heavenly. The deserts…. They are must, especially the cookie cake with soft eggs, my goodness just amazing

The service was impeccable. Theatrical yet genuine. If that makes sense. I would say hands down the best service IN the Aveiro area. Everyone that came to our table from greeting, ordering, food presentation, & delivery all had such great service it felt like they had some kind of special training. The fish was fresh and grilled almost to perfection (i prefer a slightly more charred & chewy texture for my red snapper). However, my husband agreed the texture of the fish was quite consistent throughout the entire body of the fish. O and the cookie cake is fabulously naughty!

4.6 I recommend eating at Dori and making a reservation in advance. The food was great with generous portions. I would recommend the Lenguado and the octopus salad. The atmosphere was good and the waiter was nice. We were celebrating a birthday so we requested a special dessert but they forgot about it. They also switched up the meat doneness. Besides that everything was great.

We went here for my birthday. The service was fantastic. We enjoyed the food. We had previously gone afew years ago. We will definitely go again .

Was expecting better since I have heard so many good things about this place by my local family. We had a variety of local fish and some was overcooked and others were just ok. The fruit platter wasn’t great but the service was pleasant. I don’t think I’d return as there is no value and much better places along this little stretch of street

One of the best seafood places I have ever been. Everything was incredible. Services was magnificent and food, food was delicious. Special mention to the rice with octopus and prawns. We recommend this 100% for everyone who’s visiting that area.

I DON’T RECOMMEND IT!!!!! Don't be fooled by the first pictures. We had lunch here on the recommendation of an Aveiro tour speaker while visiting the city. For us, "The best restaurant" was actually THE WORST. I am fully aware that the restaurant’s specialty is seafood, however since I’m allergic, I decided to have a Vitela (Steak) for the value of €19. The Vitela came super raw and half of it was fat, as you can see in my pictures. We complained to the server about this and his response was "The chef said it is like that". Not helpful at all, unprofessional and 0 intentions to resolve the situation for a dish that was not worth the price. My mom ordered codfish and had almost no salt, no flavor. Good portion, it was ok but no flavor. In general, if you go, just order seafood. Apparently, based on my husband’s experience, it's the only good thing they sell. This is incredible , the most amazing fresh seafood , make sure you opt for the seafood stew , its akin to a luxury paella but submerged in fish stock , simply incredible , great service and a real local atmosphere , packed out so buzzing. Very traditional and family feel in a great location

I have questions, why this place has high rating? First of all, service is snail-slow🐌. And you wait long to get seated. Food - starters were good, but came barely warm. Mains - disaster. Also it’s super loud inside, you can’t talk. Probably slowness is due to lack of staff, but food quality can not be excused. And it’s not cheap. I think better options can be found around there. We were passing by this town and got negative sediment because on this place.

I ordered a Grilled Salmon and my wife a codfish. Both were fantastic! I think it tasted even better than the Michelin restaurant in Alcobaça I just went. The portion size was also very good. The desserts were only average, but again, the food is great.

A cozy restaurant, with nice staff. Good for seafood and fish. And try their award winning desert. Also, try Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato. (Clams with olive oil and garlic) Went alone but found it interesting for a romantic lunch or dinner.

We had the Fish Cataplana – absolutely delicious and the portions were huge! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We also tried the fish soup, which could’ve been a bit more aromatic, but still enjoyable. On top of that – they serve excellent coffee. Warm, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere made it a perfect lunch spot. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!

The manager/owners and waiters are extremely helpful and kind to me. I feel taken care of eating here. The restaurant is clean, seating area and decoration are nice. The fish is a bit salty for my taste, but salad, wine and desert - Portuguese cookie (recommended to me) and service are all great. I was full and happy after my time eating here. Thank you!!!

Great place, super nice staff, great food.Cataplana de peixe (fish) for 2 and bife (steak) for the kid. All served with a young fresh white Douro wine. Great meals, totally recommended place.

We biked here from the center of town to check out Costa Nova and found this lunch spot. It did not disappoint. At first the prices seemed steep for Portugal, but I thought it was justified. We ordered a mixed seafood (it's their house specialty) for two people (€45) and a half bottle of Chardonnay (€6) to help cool off. The seafood was incredibly flavorful and we'll cooked. And the portion was huge. We each got 2.5 rounds to finish this huge bowl of seafood. It reminded me of Bouillabaisse (I've only tried them in California) and this is by far the best I've had. Friendly staff and a nice spot. Highly recommend!

The hamburger was good for its price. The meat was delicious. The bread could have been softer. I wish the fries came with the hamburger. Or at least the sauces that came with the fries should have been free. But the ambience was great, i would visit again..

Our professor recommended this place to us, so we came for dinner. The place was cozy and warm. I tried the salmon sandwich, and it was tasty. The portion is big even though it is on the snack menu. They regularly serve the salmon medium, but I requested medium-well, and the texture was still fine, not too dry. For the drink, I had house tea, and it was refreshing, but don't put the lemon in for too long because it will make your tea bitter. My friend ordered the steak with prawn, octopus steak (didn't take a pic), and sangria, and nothing failed us. Very recommended!

This restaurant is right on the beach with great atmosphere and food. The squid in pasta was done perfectly with a heap of shellfish. It’s for two people but should not be missed.

This place made my trip to Portugal. Food was great, service was amazing (Pedro was serving us, please give him a raise :), ocean views stunning. White sangria deserves a separate call out, must try :)

The Bar now has a star here on google maps for me. The drinks, service and Ambiente is perfect! I am happy we went here. The highlight were the fries! But beside that they serve very good cocktails! My favorites were pina colada and Moskow mule! Thank you a lot for a good evening!

Tasty food, nice arrangement of the interior, very polite staff. The weather was very windy, but the garden in front the restaurant provides possibility to sit outside even in bad weather.

In my opinion it is not great. I’d rate it higher if prices were lower. The fish and cuttlefish was done ok. It was fresh and there was nothing really to complain about apart from the taste which was really boring. The dishes were paired with salad without any dressing so I assume the restaurant owner apparently wants his guests to take turn as cooks and prepare it themselves with only the oil they give out serving. Mind you you pay full price for this experience 😆. As of the staff they were nice but they shared no eagerness or interest in their guests. Mind you I visited minutes after opening and there were really not that many people and still after asking for the bill I had to wait for 10 minutes and after finally asking for the second time I’ve received it. All in all it’s just a tourist cashgrab don’t waste your time with mediocrity for the full price.

I had vegetarian sushi. It was good, but I’ve eaten better at this restaurant. Probably because I’m not a huge fan of intense flavours with fruits, and there was a lot of strawberry. Other than that, great value for the price! 8/10

We were expecting incredible sushi, but were happily surprised by the very cool decoration and nice attentive service. Both nice in the terrace and inside, doesn't get stuffy and is very nicely bright. Sushi was indeed amazing and tasty, parking can be done on the large sidewalk next to the place.

The mix of flavors and presentation were delightful! However, as a sushi lover, I would have loved to see more fish…🐟 We ordered two types of rolls and one nigiri, but I found myself searching for the taste of the fish 🥲

Very small, definitely need to book a table. It was full when we arrived. We had a table for an hour which turned out to be plenty as the food was so incredible we didn't need an hour to eat! Excellent prices and great portion sizes! 1000% would go back and recommend to others!

Fresh and tasty. All pieces were delicious and very fresh. Friendly staff and the service is great and quick. We sat outside with some friends and had a lovely time. They managed both Portuguese and English languages well and we all felt very welcome. Great experience and one to repeat, for sure.

Blue Beard would have certainly stopped here before heading out on one of his adventures. A small, cozy spot near the Praia Barra Ferrol that serves up some of the best sushi and sashimi dishes. Allow the wait staff to walk you through their menu and definitely go with their suggestions. The spicy miso soup was excellent with cubes of salmon. I have to be honest and say that I’ve never experienced raw salmon inside of a soup before. The almond covered shrimp appetizer was also a delight. The server recommended a chefs choice sushi & sashimi platter and it was also an amazing selection of fish. All the courses had an excellent pairing between sweet, sour, spicy and salty. Each flavor profile complimented the other in a way that I’ve only experienced on a few occasions in my life. At this point I was completely satisfied and could have asked for the check and been done. But… the server recommended dessert. And it was a phenomenal one but dessert that takes a a few seconds for your brain to figure out what just happened to your mouth. It’s like a party going on in your mouth, a bit of ice cream, a bit of fruit, a bit of rice and a bit of sushi, yes sushi, all while take a small bite of a line at the base. It’s a must try. We came during the off season, if you are visiting during summer months, make reservations well in advance. You won’t be disappointed, I’m sure Blue Beard himself wasn’t. Onto the next adventure…

Some unique dishes stand out from the void of common favourites. They still use Aluminium pots to prepare some dishes, for some reason I forget why I felt it important to mention this? They also serve one of the Gates acquisitions on tap, easily worked around by ordering local beer in a bottle. They close at 14:30 after lunch and are absolutely inflexible on the time and requests to modify menu items. Variations are not allowed but they will gladly charge extra for fries instead of rice.

Very good seafood, we had octopus, bacalhau and cod tounges in a group of 6. The service was friendly and quick, the food was amazing and the traditional lovely. There was no space for dessert though so we have to come back again.

Very welcoming family owned business. We felt very comfy at this restaurant. The staff was great, funny and welcoming. We ordered the lunch menu that included the entrée, main course and coffee. The food was tasty and well garnished (codfish pataniscas). Tradition bread from the region was served with olive oil and see flower salt. Great addition. We have decided to order a chocolate mousse for desert. It was delicious. This place is highly recommended.

The fish soup was excessively salty, making it difficult to enjoy. The cod fish was below expectations, lacking the freshness and flavor I anticipated. The octopus was average, not as tender as I tried in other restaurants. Overall, the meal did not live up to the standards I expect from a high-end seafood restaurant.

The place is beautiful and the food tasted wonderful. However, the service was too touchy feely with me. I ordinarily don't mind a handshake, a gentle pat on the shoulder, but this was a shoulder grab and squeeze, the type I would expect from a friend or a partner, followed by a couple of intentional grabs of my forearm. The service was also too slow. The food may have tasted great but had me sick after I walked out of the restaurant with food poisoning, which ruined the rest of my weekend. I had some oysters and grilled octopus.

The food was incredible, and the price matched the quality of the meal. However, the service was awful. I know it’s a touristy place with a lot of people, but PLEASE — if you know you can’t properly take care of your customers, don’t welcome them and don’t make them wait for hours outside the restaurant. I felt the stress of the waiters and didn’t feel comfortable at all.

The ambience of this place is really nice, and looks kind of upper class, but is relaxed and reasonably priced. Fish is fresh as it can be, and side dishes are great. And the staff is exceptional.

Off the beating path is a traditional Resturant serving some hard to find dishes: cod bladder, cod tongue to name a few. The special of the day was a multi fish stew at €10. The house wine was really good as well.

Great food, no more no less, we had the “mar e terra” for 3 people. Shrimp was amazing, meat was tender and juicy, the squid melted like butter. Cannot recommend it enough, amazing service too!

Authentic Portuguese food. The real deal. The menu isn't set in stone because the fish is sourced locally. Owner spent some time working in the USA and brings this international business acumen into the restaurant's operations. Highly recommended.

I had Chocos Grelhados, olives with bread and a glass of wine. The staff was super friendly and invested. The wine was chilled and bread buns fresh. However, the dish itself was horrible. Super salty, to the point that it was unbearable eating even after squeezing an entire lemon. There was an odd grill taste, the whole dish was a total disappointment - as the entire focus was on those supersalty squids. I would assume I just got unlucky or something. I had to throw them back in the rubbish bins which are at every other table. But the restaurant was super popular and look super decent. I’d give it another shot, maybe just abstain from ordering squids. The prices are super decent for the amount of squids there were on the plate.

Amazing food , service, and the dishes are heaping with great food

I believe I had the pork with mushrooms and fries with salad as well as the grilled shrimp and it was amazing. It tasted so delicious and the portion was pretty big with one entrée. You could share it with two or three people!

We stopped in for lunch with a group of 10. The food came in large portions and was excellent. The staff were great, and it felt like we had an authentic Portuguese experience.

Another iconic place in a must visit for all Humans in this area. This price of been around for 50 + years and is home to a lot of dishes revolving around chicken. They are famous for their charcoal chicken. The desserts are amazing and you get a huge serving of it.

Possibly the best restaurant in Aveiro. Its been around for over 60 years. Waiters are professional and the food is fresh. If you want a full Portuguese food experience that's traditional, come here straight from the city. It's 10 minute drive or uber..

Food was mediocre. Service was a bit intimidating; server was a bit of a smart donkey if you ask me. It was my 1st and certainly my last time dining here.

Delicious seafood. I followed the recommendation and had grilled octopus with potatoes & chopped vegetables. As a visitor from Canada it felt like an authentic experience.

Pretty good food, had the grouper with veg. The menu is in four languages which is cool, but prices are per kg, which is a bit confusing in my opinion. Overall a little expensive, great location, nice service.

We had a superb, varied and expertly cooked meal with the freshest of ingredients and a wonderful palette of flavours. From the tempura prawns to the vegetable gyozas, to the vegan tacos to the tuna sashimi, everything was stunning. The sashimi in particular is the best I've had – incredibly fresh, melt-in-the-mouth tuna. With welcoming, friendly and efficient service and a charming interior with further seating on the decking outside, this place is a gem and well worth every penny of the very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Fantastic restaurant! Starting with the staff, and that's a good start. We were kindly received, the food was on time and super tasty. My GF asked sushi and I asked chicken burrito. I like Sushi now. :) The deco is very cute, and even the bathrooms are pleasant :) (check the photos) There's plenty of parking lots around and the beach it's right around the corner.

We chose this place especially for our little "celebration". We were excited! The staff was kind and helpful. Menu selection is simple and sufficient. And that taste! It was a beautiful evening and the food was just amazing! We recommend this restaurant. We will be happy to return again for another tasting!

We visited this place two years ago. Owner of the place was very nice and welcoming, explaining how he is preparing his food, where he is getting his ingredients. That's right! Owner is the best chef around 👍. He prepared our dinner with lot's of care. We had wonderful dinner with great wine, new special food that we never tried before, strawberry 🍓 sushi🍣 and soup sushi, tuna tartare, tempura shrimp 🍤 and great seaweed salad. This restaurant is nr 1 in the aria and I would definitely recommend you this place if you are seafood and sushi lover. 🍣🍱🥂

The burritos were great. An overall interesting experience. Don't be put down by the at first unconventional mexican/sushi combo. Attracts a kind of millennial crowd specially during summer - not that there's anything wrong with that :).

We came to this Japanese & Mexican fusion restaurant twice whilst staying in Barra. It was fantastic! We had the tempura prawns, fish tacos and maki sushi platter, and we would eat this time and time again. The menu is not english however, the staff were so kind and attentive. The chef even came out to our table to give his recommendations and ensured that we enjoyed each course. It also has wonderful decor and it very reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

He his food is AMAZING!! Couldn’t recommend more. So fresh and beautiful. The Rumo steak is huge and so good, the octopus rice is just amazing.

A hidden gem. We were treated to a beautiful meal with gracious service. Fully recommend that you have a meal here. Waitress Ines was wonderful and extremely helpful. Really good value for money. €60 for main, wine, dessert and tea.

As someone stated before this is a hidden gem. Delicious food. Special reference to the starters that were just amazing. Location is somewhat odd but if you visit the Vista Alegre museum in the morning then you should come here for lunch.

Well cooked food either you choose meat or fish (& sea food). Nice wine selection. Starters, several to select from, are free. You just need to choose them from a round table (and you can repeat). Table employees are very friendly and efficient as well as the owner.

Very windy, but still nice

A tale of 2 crabs. We ordered eels. Sardines, soup, turbot and 1 crab to share. I can't understand why in a place that sells a lot of seafood that they served a crab that had been stored in a fridge far too long the meat was so dry and hard to get out the shell. Maybe they thought we were tourists and passing through. We showed the crab to the manager/owner and it was replaced with a sweet fresh crab like we expected in the first place. Anyone working in the kitchen would have recognised that the first crab was not fit for sale and yet they still served it.

The seafood here was absolutely delicious. Very fresh and tasty. Service is typical of Europe. Other than that, highly recommended for all seafood lovers.

Paella special was excellent. Truly one of the best my husband and I have had. Restaurant ambiance was clean and tasteful. Although, the young waiter brought a beer, appetizer, & bread we did not order. When I exclaimed how delicious the paella was, the young waiter replied, “of course, it’s delicious, we would not be a restaurant, if it was not good”. He seemed to be put out by our presence

Great food. Quantity of each portion is very generous, but keeping a really nice quality. Service is not amazing but makes the job. Not a cheap option but fair cost for the offer. In conclusion it is very much recommended if you are looking to a nice place and you can spend some money for it.

Great food, great service. I advise making a reservation in advance as they have a lot of guests (it's not about skin color as other reviews are suggesting, there are a lot of orders in the lunch time). Food was fresh and well prepared. I'm not used to seafood but I had no stomach issues. Recommended for everyone :)

I came last year in 2023, absolutely LOVED the “miniso” burger & onion rings. 🤤🤤 I came back this year & HAD to make sure I came back to eat the same meal, & to my delight it was the exact same tasting, delicious, juicy & perfect burger I have ever had in my life. The onion rings were also so delicious & the breading is soo crispy!! I’ll be back again next year, except i’ll be ordering like 5 burgers. Sooo delicious!

I had a great experience in this place. Our hamburgers were amazing, for me the Double Ring and the Barbacue Burger for my wife. They were delicious and the people who work there is very nice. 100% recommended.

Great food! I went there for a company dinner and everything was delicious! From the starters (specifically the clams), to the main dishes (octopus and veal) everything was well prepared and very tasty! I'm definitely going back, and next time I'll try the famous "Açorda".

The restaurant was quite busy when we walked past around lunch time, so we decided to give it a try for dinner. We had a fish soup, the grilled sea bass and prawn rice and we didn’t really like any of it. The fish soup was more like a purée. The grilled sea bass was okay but very oily and with a lot of garlic (saying someone who does like a moderate portion of garlic!). The prawn rice was soup like and overall rather tasteless. Some of the neighbouring tables had fried mixed fish, which looked tasty. So maybe we just went for the wrong dishes. The staff at least was really friendly. Overall, however, we would not go there again.

Mixed feelings about this place. I tried an okay soup of the day and very fresh "mixed fried fish", although it was just one type of fish. Not sure why it was labeled "mixed". It came with a soggy tomato rice that was not good. Kind of pricey for the amount of food. Service was very slow. Beware of the appetizers they bring to your table as you are seated. They are not complimentary. On the contrary, more expensive than a main course. I would stay away from them if you value your money.

Sétimo Ano de Praia is one of those places where, once you sit down, time begins to slow. Set on a circular wooden deck over the dunes of Praia da Barra, we had lunch with a direct view of the sea, while the children played freely in the sand right beside us — a rare kind of tranquillity. The atmosphere is rustic yet refined, with a natural charm that fits the setting perfectly. The menu focuses on simple dishes, full of flavour: fresh seafood, generous toasts, and well-balanced cocktails — all served with ease and warmth. It’s the kind of place you go to for a light lunch… and end up wanting to stay until sunset. A perfect little retreat for slow days, easy conversation, and simple memories — all seasoned with the taste of the sea.

Worst service ever! They keep on taking customers in when their service is chaos. Why would you do that?! Solve your chaos first. We had to order drinks and even salt to 6 different waiters and waited for almost an hour to get them when I finally ordered them to the person in charge. The food was meh. Clearance never happened. Maybe I wasn’t lucky today but I definitely do not recommend this place.

Having breakfast by the ocean at this beautiful beach restaurant in Portugal was the highlight of my vacation. The seafood platter was simply amazing and paired perfectly with a real Portuguese port. The view of the vast ocean was breathtaking and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore made for a truly unforgettable experience. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Portugal.

This place is located on a super cute street and had been recommended to me by a travel blogger. They mentioned getting the fish stew so we got the grouper stew, even though it was 68euros, we figured, it must be good! It was awful. Way too salty and just potatoes with fatty fish. There were no flavors other than salt and bay leaf and it was the most uninspiring 68 euro I have ever spent. We left very disappointed. Only good thing is it says it’s for 2 people but could easily feed 4.

I love the food in this place, I know it’s expensive but the bad thing about it was we ate a fish and paid for two fishes and after we said something they didn’t admit it and never give us the refund, was me and my husband and just one fish and pay for 2, we never go to this place anymore, they are a bunch of rip offs!! This was the fish me and my husband ate, one fish only and we paid $78 euros just for the fish!!

This pizza place is super popular. When we arrived, they were busy but thankfully we quickly got a table. The sangria pitcher is great value ! The pizza is good too and there’s lots of choices. Next time I want to try the steak on a hot stone.

We love this pizzeria! It’s one of the best in the barra/Aveiro region (pizza vinho is the other good one). We have been waiting for Brasao to open as they were closed throughout corona. We were so sad we could even order takeaway! I like their Quattro cheese 🧀 pizza 🍕. The service imo is always great. The waiter there is so nice to us and speaks great English too! The restaurant is cozy and the food is OK. We went there for dinner during the week but it is obvious they have staff that are not trained/new and only one Brazilian waiter was giving an outstanding service. The seafood rice was OK and we ordered for 2 people however, the portion it was big. So take that in mind when you order, perhaps for 2 people that are used to eat a lot it might be worth it. We took the leftovers home because it was still rice for 2 people 😅 I would come back here for the food but something that really annoyed me is that for some reason all the 3 waiters disappeared for long periods at the same time and the desserts took a long long time to be served.

Best Seafood restaurant we've been to in Praia da Barra and Costa Nova. Service is amazing. Food absolutely delicious. The cataplana is to die for and their marisqueira just as good. Their stripped bass was so tender and moist. Don't forget the house white wine... spectacular!

Our servers were amazing! Our food? Amazing! We just came from Italy and this is close as we have had to traditional Italian pizza. We also had the burning noodles which wasn’t that spicy but still delicious. The bruschetta was also very good. We also had to bottles of Vino Verde. Right next to lighthouse and beach.

The best pizza in Praia da Barra by far! Rome has some serious competition for the most creative combinations of flavours, as well as the lightest crusts. The staff are especially kind and make you feel at home right away. They'll make every effort to make your meal as pleasant as possible. Don't miss the excellent Sangria Branca, which is also the best in Barra. If we could go five times a week, we would!

We had the pleasure to visit this place on 21st of December and what a good joy. This is a family business preparing homemade Portuguese dishes with care and quality. We followed the owner recomendations and at the end we couldn't be more satisfied. Highly recommended if you are to visit Barra or want a serious, tasty meal.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. He mentioned it was small and not fancy but excellent food. He was right! We were treated like family. My husband had dorado fish and really enjoyed it. I mentioned I was vegetarian and would just have the soup and the waitress that was the daughter of the chef would not hear of it and said her mother would cook up a dish for me. It had potatoes, broccoli, cooked carrots that were not overdone and a kale dish with a hard boiled egg. All was seasoned perfectly. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We were looking for grilled Sardines one rainy morning in Costa Nova and stumbled across this local restaurant. Despite a bit of a language barrier, we had a fantastic dining experience. We had grilled Sardines, grilled chicken and all that comes with those entrees. This was our first time eating grilled Sardines so one waiter showed us how to do it properly. My wife was much better than I was but it was nothing short of delicious. We love local joints off the main streets to get an authentic experience. This was it!

Small local spot, very limited seating, the food was decent but nothing to rave about. Big issue we had was once we sat down they dropped off a basket of bread and an assortment of cheeses and spreads, we thought it was complementary and almost started eating however thankfully we asked and we found out they charge for everything they gave to use. Mind you we never asked at all for this and they did it to every table (see photo of it). For a little thing of butter it was $1 euro! When we went to pay they tried to charge us for a couple things even though we didn’t eat, thankfully they removed those charges.

A pizza ain't pizza without pepperoni! Guys if you folks from the restaurant are reading this, invest in some pepperoni!

Very nice and cosy place directly by the beach. I had the risotto with gambas and veggies, an iced tea and a hot chocolate. The risotto was really delicious and the service was great and attentive. I spent the whole afternoon there, the environment was really nice.

Absolutely loved this place, the awesome food, the fab staff and a beautiful setting. It was without doubt our best meal so far in Portugal. The prawns in garlic and the fish Ceviche starter were both incredible. The octopus main and picahna were also excellent. Only 1 tiny gripe, the fries were undercooked and soggy but there was so much food we didn’t even bother to send them back :-) They also have an extensive wine list with lots of very reasonably priced choices. Top marks to all involved but a special mention again for the staff who were all exceptional!

Great place to dine in. Great service, atmosphere and food. Will come back again when I come to Aveiro.

We managed to get a space on the 2nd service, and it was very nice! The food is excellent, the service is good, very nice place with probably a great view during the day. Not so much space, so much better make a booking if you plan a dinner there.

Maybe the best entrecôte steak we've ever eaten, but fried potatoes were too crispy from boiler. Natural potatoes with olive oil would be perfect.

My wife and I had a great experience at Zazzaro yesterday. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The food was very tasty and well priced. Recommend the vinho tinto de casa, Arancini, bruschetta and pizza. Not pictured but equally tasty, was their affogato!

Zazzaro Pizzaria Restaurante – A Top-Class Experience We visited Zazzaro without a reservation and were warmly welcomed – clearly a popular place, but the staff still made room for us with great hospitality. We both had pizza followed by tiramisu for dessert. The quality of both the food and dessert was absolutely top-notch. The pizza was perfectly baked with a delicious crust and high-quality ingredients, and the tiramisu was one of the best we've ever had. There is honestly nothing to criticize. Highly recommended!

Awesome pizze in a very nice place, and very good service! Perfect tiramisu! By the way... we forgot a box of unfinished food on the table when leaving... and the waiter came running after us to give it. Very nice.

I went here with coworkers and it was a great lunch! The waiters were fantastic and cozy atmosphere. We all ordered pizza and mine was the Diavola, spicy pepperoni. They were delicious, thin crust, as I like! The wine list is great with good options and at a great price.

Had a lovely meal here during our stay July 2025 . I had a very juicy burger with homemade chips , the burger had a fantastic taste to it but I’d have thought it could have been a bit bigger but excellent all the same, the pizzas are very good value and extremely tasty , the service is the best you can expect , very mannerly and obliging staff , the cost is good for the quality of the restuarent. I would definitely recommend this place to all .

We ate in this restaurant yesterday evening on the recommendation of the owner of our B&B. What a hidden gem. A waiter called David was so helpful and took the time to spend time with us. The food was delicious and the two desserts we had, panacotta and an orange tart with cinnamon were amazing. Sadly we only found this restaurant on our last night otherwise we would have gone every evening. Thank you

Great meals, this is my eighth visit past month, food is always fresh, at lunch time they have 3 different dishes for that day, great garlic butter with warm bread. Lunch time soup, main course, wine and coffee is included for 9 euros, i suggest reservation or be there by 12 if you don’t want to wait. Enjoy

If you want traditional, go there. It's a restaurant where the locals go to eat. You can try there some less usual parts of cod fish like tongues.

Good affordable food in Sintra

Good place to stop for lunch after visiting the Praia de Gafanha. Tasty hamburgers and fries, and the staff made 2 very good improvised vegetarian sandwiches for the ones in our party that didn’t want to eat meat. Communicating in English with the waiter was a little hard but, he made it work. Would definitely recommend!

I have been living in Portugal for two years and working in the service sector 14 years. I lived by the ocean for half a year and visited this cafe almost every day. This should not happen and I leave one star for the terrible service and the raised tone of the woman who apparently is the manager there. I arrived on an electric scooter, plugged it in and ordered coffee. There was not a single sign that I could not do this or that this service was paid. I wanted to charge it a little while I had some coffee. Moreover, I had already done this in other cafes in the area and no one allowed themselves to behave like that with me. And what’s more, I don’t behave with my clients and they can always charge their phone or scooter when they relax with us. When I finished my coffee and started reading the newspaper, a waiter boy came up to me and said that I was wasting a lot of their electricity, and this woman immediately ran up and shooed me away in a rude tone and said that I should have asked permission first and that it was expensive. When I asked how much and where the indicator about the amount weighed, she ran away. Seriously? A lot of? An electric scooter will eat as much as a mobile phone in 10 minutes. I have Portuguese friends and clients and I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's a shame that such a service is in a place where there are now a lot of tourists and locals.

Be careful guys. Got FOOD POISONING there. Twice in the same week i got really sick out of this place. Used to go there after work around 7-8pm to grab dinner. Normally is the only food I have before going to sleep. so im 100%sure it was from out of there. First time I couldn’t be sure if that was the reasons for being sick( vomiting, nausea, and a bit fever) But second time was one of the worst conditions I’ve been in my life. Diarrhea, vomiting, really strong pain in the stomach, even got to faint on the bathroom. Had to go to the hospital and even skip work due to this. I dont have the proof of the payments from the place and I paid in cash, so cant do much about it, legally. ( or if someone can help me w that ) Tho I can recommend people not to take this risk. Spoke to a few friends around and they all told me the same, food there is a bit sketchy. Stay safe :)

I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody. The service was atrocious. The restaurant is supposed to open at 12 pm but it only actually opened closer to 12:15 pm. We were a table of 4 people and we sat down in the terrace at the same time as the people at four other tables. After waiting for nearly 10 minutes, I had to wave the waitress over to tell her we were ready to order as she had essentially ignored us up until then. She was unpleasant and looked very disinterested by us. She had already gone to all the other tables to take their orders. By the time we ordered, one of the other tables had already received their food and drinks. Incredibly, after repeating our order to us to ensure she didn’t miss anything, she forgot to place an order for the plate of sardines ordered by my mother. Of course, she only realized this 45 minutes later. Meanwhile, the dish for my wife and I, which had a 30 minute preparation time, arrived after almost 45 minutes. The other tables on the terrace had already finished their lunch and paid their bills. I told the waitress that the service was a disgrace but she could not have cared less. The staff did not even try to smooth things over by offering a discount or a free item in the house. I’ve grown accustomed to average service at bars and restaurants but the service we experienced here was unacceptable.

Cosy restaurant with fresh and simple seafood dishes. My parents and I had the grilled Bacalhau and grilled seafood mix. Both very delicious. Great prices too. Service was quiet and quick which we like :)

Great local food and very friendly service if a bit slow and forgetful. You can only pay with a Portuguese credit card and they don't tell you until it's time to pay. A bit strange for a place in such a tourist hot spot. However we had cash so it wasn't a problem. In general very nice and good value.

Good food but overpriced. Although it is a signature chef restaurant, the food is not awesome as it should/could be. I ate seafood and fish rice and it was not very good as it had too much tomato and peppers - felt like a homemade tomato rice dish as opposed to what was supposed to be. The dessert was very good.

The restaurant is nice and the food is good but Overpriced ! we paid 94 euros for a dourade do mar for 3 !! When we can expect to have these fish for 30/42 euros the kilo in good other restaurant it as 62 euros here. We are local in barra and know the price of those fishes . It was not cooked that well..

The food is just really good definitely will be back. Had the cockles for appetizer and razor clam rice and it was SO tasty with their house hot sauce.

Wonderful staff, good environment and delicious food. From the "Mushrooms a Bulhão pato" to the traditional Pataniscas, without forgetting the super tasty Squids with green sauce. For the desert I tried the Leite creme with the caramelized sugar on top. Wonderful. Will be back for more for sure.

The staff was very kind and friendly. We were in Praia da Barra for one night and found this last minute. Since we don’t speak Portuguese navigating the menu was challenge but the staff provide assistance and great recommendations.

Ordered a whole chicken (frango de churrasco) to go well in advance, it came with only one leg. Didn't notice until we got home. Without the other leg it was just a bit too scant for three people. Asked for medium spicy got zero spice. Still tasty and the fries were good. The seafood salad (salada do mar) wasn't bad but nowhere near as good as in the Churrascão, another restaurant a few blocks down the road. All in all an okay meal at a decent price, but you can get better. We'll give it another chance, maybe.

Rude staff, would give them a big 0 if I could, I was just there today at 11:30am,sat outside in the shade with my niece ordered coffee and a drink, owner came out told us rudely "you cant sit here, this section is for people that order food, you have to sit there!" Pointing to a table that was out in the sun,I looked around there was NO ONE sitting to eat food, I said "there is no one here, I cant sit here?" With a finger gesture rudely said"no!" I for sure know where NOT to eat.

The place was very small with tiny chairs to sit on. None of the staff spoke English which made things difficult. The food was nice but that was all.

I was really looking forward to experiencing this place after noticing the large sign advertising the rooftop bar and restaurant - actually on a ship, which also serves as lodging. Very cool concept! When I entered, I was asked if I was checking in. I replied that I was just hoping to have a drink if they were open. The response was, “Okay, upstairs,” in a tone that felt surprisingly curt, especially considering there were no guests seated at the time. Still, I gave the benefit of the doubt and headed up. Once upstairs, I wasn’t sure whether to stay inside or go out to the rooftop. The same staff member asked, “Beer?” rather abruptly. Since I can’t drink beer, I asked what else was available or if there was a menu. The response felt impatient - “What do you want?” Another person nearby (the only other one in sight) suggested “gin and tonic,” which I would have happily ordered, but the staff member said, “No, I don’t make cocktails.” I asked about wine, and he replied, “White wine,” again in a forceful, command-like tone. When I asked what kind, the answer was again, “White wine!” - this time even more aggressively. It felt uninviting, and unfortunately, I no longer felt comfortable staying. I thanked him and left, but could hear him continuing to speak in a clearly annoyed tone as I walked away. It’s possible the bar wasn’t open or that there was some internal issue, but if that was the case, a simple explanation would have made a big difference. I approached with friendliness and curiosity, and was genuinely hoping to enjoy the space. I share this not out of frustration, but in the hope it helps the team improve consistency in hospitality. The setting is amazing and the concept is strong, but my experience felt unnecessarily hostile. I hope this was a one-off and not reflective of the overall environment.

Rooms are clean, good service, friendly staff. Location is great being on a boat, but a bit distant from city center. Anyway is a good experience.

Reception perfect ,small room and bathroom like in the plane but ok. Very good bed. Breakfast good. Price worth it.

A unique hotel on the water front. Rooms were cozy, bed comfortable, and hot water. Check in was great fast easy. Employees were all awesome, breakfast was buffet style, fresh coffee. The two nights we stayed the kitchen and bar were closed for dinner. We got lucky on last night , and had spritzers in the lounge. That was a treat. Staff was great

We did not stay in the hotel, only went for lunch. Hoping for a nice family meal aboard the boat. Very unfriendly service. Waiter, service staff, barely acknowledged us and it took 30 mins to order or receive drinks even though it was not busy. Expensive, tiny portions, very difficult to get a check to leave, and unfriendly as we finally departed. Also: there were flies everywhere. Big disappointment for our day in Costa Nova.

We loved the idea of an hotel on a boat. The staff there were very nice and helpful. The location was great. Breakfast was good. However, we were disappointed by the rooms. The first room we got had a cigarette smell in it. The window was opened in the room so we can assume that the hotel was aware of this situation. We immediately asked for another room. The staff was very helpful and switched us to another room. This other room didn't have the cigarette smell. Unfortunately, in both rooms the carpet was dirty. The walls were paper thin so we could hear everything going on in the other rooms. Bring ear plugs and you will be fine :) Overall, we had a good stay in this hotel.

Rooms are small, it’s good for something new to experience, but the service is bad! They AC did not work, the room got heated up to 29degree . On checking with receptionist the man was least bothered to come and check , instead he said you can open the window and sleep 😑 due to which there were bunch of mosquitoes in the room alll night ! For the money they charge, no dental kit is shame, I could not give bath to my baby because bathroom is very tiny ! Basically there is no room service , you cannot call up for Anything!

Staff went above and beyond for service, very accommodating and friendly! Food was amazing, particularly loved octopus and monkfish (pictured below).

Food never disappoints. Their clams in garlic sauce are probably the best I've had. Service is great and it's one place you don't have to worry about closing for lunch. Their house wine is great. Their Bream fish amazing. Definitely a place to stop by and enjoy some great food while enjoying the beautiful sea view.

Decent little spot just off the beach. With transparent windbreak so you can see the sunset. Fairly inexpensive for a beach beer, but they said they couldn't take card when we were there. Friendly enough staff.

We had the buffet, not good at all food was very low quality and tasted it had been cooked the day before, the chips were bad. On top of that the buffet is expensive, the plates from the menu looked better but also expensive. Only worth a visit cause of the view.

If want to experience you should go. Food similar to other places around.

I've been coming here for years. I absolutely love this place. Great Portuguese style hot dogs. Huge beers and great prices! It is also right on the pier so after you are done drinking, you can go for a quick walk on the beach or the pier. Nuno is the server that I have seen for the past couple years. He's awesome! Even speaks english!

Not allowed to use your laptop here. They only want retirees, no working people. Go down the beach a bit, there are bars with much nicer ambience.

Service was very quick and efficient. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. They do not bring a bill to the table, you simply go to the till to pay when you are done.

Came here to get their BBQ chicken and by far the best tasting and biggest one. Also tried their grilled cod with potatoes and absolutely delicious! Eat in or take out and the atmosphere is really nice and laid back.

You can count on a good meal here! Best Portuguese chicken and French fries I've had ( and I've eaten alot of chicken and fries in my life) nice casual atmosphere... great place to take your family to eat a satisfying meal. Highly recommend it! As a dessert I ordered the Molotof .... and it was yet again the best I ever had. So glad I came here to eat, I found my new regular dinner place for eat in and take out. Service was excellent!

Excellent chicken. Got to say it was the best I have ever had. They are closed from the 11-20 of July 2022. Service was attentive. Place is a little dated, but it’s part of the ambience.
