Restaurant
Ratskeller is a popular chalet-style eatery and bar located in Government Camp, Oregon. It's a favorite among tourists and locals, especially on weekends when it's packed with sports fans enjoying the jumbo TVs for game viewing. The family-friendly venue offers typical American pub fare, deluxe burgers, and a variety of pizzas. Additionally, it boasts a great selection of craft brews on tap. Visitors can unwind at this cozy spot after a long day on the trails or slopes.
We sat outside and enjoyed delicious pizza, perfect wings and a stellar spinach salad. The salsa was less than great, but the chips were good. We enjoyed the games and just relaxed. Definitely a must!
Kasandra W — Google review
Pizza was mediocre but not terrible. Considering the location it was just fine. I will say the toppings were lacking especially on our Hawaiian pizza, maybe a total of 20 pineapple tidbits on the entire pizza. Kids loved it though and they did have gluten/ celiac friendly crusts to accommodate the special diet restrictions in our family. And that was the biggest reason we chose this specific place over the other 2 in the area who also offered pizza on there menu. I'd give it another try though in the future, I will say that much.
Justin A — Google review
Full disclosure: The pizza isn’t great but also isn’t bad. Their Bleu Cheese burger is amazing. Reminds me of the old McMenamins Captain Neon burger before they sold out. Great vibe inside, it will make you feel like you walked into a 1950’s ski chalet. The staff was super friendly and the service was prompt despite them being a bit understaffed. They have an arcade upstairs for the kids which was awesome. Overall cool place.
Brian H — Google review
The pizza was below average and the prices were high. The service was good. The one star rating is because there was a real live rat running around on the bar room floor. We reported it to the bartender and asked if it was a mascot. Apparently it wasn't.
J F — Google review
This place says they are dog friendly?? Really I think not. Our food was subpar and the manager of the place was rude and obvious. She accused our dog being viscous. Which he has never bitten anyone ever. If you want to treat your customers that way then maybe you should not be in customer service. We will never go there again. Just remember word of mouth can be your best friend or your worst enemy.
Deborah C — Google review
You know I was skeptical when I read the review best pizza and fries I've ever had... but hot damn that guy wasn't lying. I loved that meat lovers pizza. Also I really wanted garlic fries even though it wasn't on the menu, they whipped it up for me. I sat at the bar and the service was spectacular, friendly and timely service.
Pono L — Google review
Biscuits and gravy….these are the best we have ever had. Get extra gravy on the side for the potatoes or fries. So delicious!
Nicholas S — Google review
My family used to look forward to every visit to this place. The quality has gone downhill while the prices continue to rise. Pizzas were burned and brought to the table in unacceptable condition. Service is still adequate but for a place that makes you order at the counter and has no tableside service aside from food drop I find it ridiculous that they charge an 18% gratuity due to the amount we spent. I gave 2 stars due to the history my family has with this place but we will never come back. Ordered 3 pizzas and 2 apps, spent 150.00 for low quality pizza and then had to pay a mandatory 18% gratuity, service recieved wasn't worth stiffing but also wasn't worth an 18% tip

Brewpub
Mt. Hood Brewing Co. is a must-visit spot offering a variety of small-batch ales served on cask or nitro, along with an upscale pub grub and pizza menu. Additionally, it houses a general store where you can find all the essentials, gourmet treats, fine wine, beer, and even Mt. Hood souvenirs. The food here receives high praise with phenomenal burgers and delicious mac and cheese topped with garlic bread crust.
We really lucked out on this location. We went somewhere else during lunchtime and was told that it would be an hour wait for food to come out. Came here, food was quickly ordered and no sooner we drank half our drink, food was coming out! Great beer selection, and will come here again for that last minute beer before heading home from the slopes
Chris L — Google review
We go up to Govy 1-2x per month. Been doing this for decades. Beers here are good. Big fan! Been drinking them for almost 20 years. Though they’re food has tremendously gone down hill. They use to have amazing calzones. Big! But this last time we got a pizza to-go. No size choices. Just one size. And when we were waiting on the pizza the bartender was making fun of pizzas with great ingredients & veggies on them as “hipster”. Basically snubbing his nose at anything that wasn’t pepperoni. And just so happens we love pizzas with tons of veggies, which is what we ordered. But whatever. We drank our beer & got our pizza & left. Got back to our cabin we got for a few days & the pizza was tiny. Like a personal tiny pizza in a big box. Very deceptive. Disappointed to say the least. Frustrated. Feeling ripped off. Won’t go back. But we’ll drink their beers that are served up at Charlie’s Mountainview or Timberline Lodge. Definitely not going back for food.
Keyser S — Google review
Stopped in here while up at Mt. Hood and really enjoyed it. Had an excellent sour beer that hit the spot, and the fries we ordered were great as well. Service was friendly and made the visit even better. Solid spot to relax with good beer and food after a day in the area.

Very cool staple in Mt. Hood. The atmosphere is really great and welcoming. Very spacious and the staff is friendly. Have to admit, Amanda is very spirited, bubbly and an Amazing host!! She made my experience worth the trip. The food and beers are great and really good variety of beers and rotating seasonal selections. The wings and spinach dip were perfect, so flavorful and plenty of options for everyone. Can't wait to go back..
Eddie Z — Google review
Biggest problem when we went today was that there was no staff. Half empty restaurant, but the three staff they had on were RUNNING. We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated, another 15 to even get water, and then about 20 to get our order put in. Our waitress was so sweet, it was fully not her fault. When we finally did get our food, all of it was disappointing. Tasted like everything came premade out of a freezer bag and was just reheated. I would say give it a miss, but given they charge $22 for all their entrees they know they have a mostly captive audience here. Beer was good though
Cait M — Google review
Food and beer were great. Service seemed to struggle with the lunch rush. Servers were slow and seemed confused at times. I got the green chile soup and the Pale Ale, which I enjoyed.
Michael L — Google review
We stopped in for a family meal and overall it was a mixed experience. I ordered the Hatch macaroni and cheese special, but unfortunately it wasn’t to my taste—probably closer to a three-star dish. The Brew Pub Melt was decent, while the plain cheeseburgers were actually the highlight of the night—simple but tasty, and much better value compared to the other entrées. The pizza was just “medium” at best. What really stood out, though, was the price. Our bill came to $160, which felt unusually expensive for what we ordered. If we go back, I’d probably stick with the burgers, which were solid at around $10 each, versus the $20+ dishes that didn’t quite deliver.

Huckleberry Inn Restaurant, a 52-year-old family-owned cafe located at Mt. Hood government camp, is a popular stop for both locals and visitors. The diner offers classic greasy breakfast options, cheeseburgers, milkshakes, and doughnuts. Visitors rave about the hand-crafted milkshakes that are described as flavor explosions and journeys to milkshake nirvana. Some recommend trying the Big Man sandwich after hiking the Timberline Trail or indulging in their Heath bar milkshake.
Golly, I like this place! This is my second time eating here (I don't come this way very often) and it holds up. Last time I got breakfast food, which was delicious, and this time I ordered the Reuben. I was a little worried it might be overkill with the sauerkraut, but I thought it was actually very well balanced! My dad ordered the French dip sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. Oh, and this isn't Red Robins; when you order an appetizer of onion rings you get LOTS of onion rings!
Jordan H — Google review
We have been coming here for 20 years and it's still great. Ownership has changed but the food is still good. Love the milkshakes(they don't give you the metal cup anymore). The burgers, halibut, chicken fried steak, breakfasts are all great and the service is excellent.
Jason W — Google review
I stopped for lunch on the way to Timberline Lodge and had a good experience with the food. It was not busy on a Thursday afternoon and was told to sit down. I reviewed the menu and ordered a huckleberry milkshake and a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with fries. The Inn has a breakfast and lunch menu with burgers, sandwiches, salads, chicken dinner, pies, and homemade pastries. I received my order in about fifteen minutes with no problems. The milkshake was thick and not really sweet with a nice flavor to it. The grilled chicken was huge and not overcooked with a nice flavor. The menu prices have gone up over the last couple of years and is no longer a cheap bargain. Located on the Government Camp Loop, a short distance from US 26 and the road to Timberline Lodge. A little expensive to eat with good food, a menu with a number of menu options, and a nice location on Mt. Hood.

Cute quaint old style diner mixed with a mountain style. Very friendly, can tell it’s clearly family owned and run. We had breakfast, tasty food and plenty of it. Their Persian Rolls are fantastic!
Peter C — Google review
This is such a cool little restaurant with a cool alpine vibe. Great food with generous portions. You won't leave hungry that's for sure! Also, be sure to try out their fresh made pastries. My wife and I got one of the maple bars. It was delicious but also so huge that we had to get a to go box for it.

Great find after exploring Trillium Lake… Halibut fillets, fries, onion rings, Huckleberry Parfaits, homemade giant doughnuts… and much more… fantastic spot to relax and get quality eats. Cozy atmosphere and excellent service… and food was freaky fast!
Clint S — Google review
Our group of 7 from Missouri were so thankful we found Huckleberry Inn after spending some time at Trillium Lake. Excellent food and service! Thank you!
Courtney S — Google review
A pleasant surprise! We stopped in for dinner during the slow season and experienced both welcoming hospitality and delicious food! They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day which was nice and had a good selection of beers. We are picky (let’s face it - snobby) eaters and we both found out meals to be fresh & tasty with indulgent portions. Prices were very modest as well. Great food and great staff!

Nestled in Government Camp, Charlie's Mountain View is a rustic and cozy joint that offers a variety of pub grub and comfort food along with an assortment of beverages. It's a popular spot for skiers and snowboarders to unwind after a day on the mountain. The bar has a dive bar vibe, adding to its charm. While indoor seating is limited to the bar area where minors are not allowed, there's also an outdoor seating option with table service for families.
This is by far the best most authentic ski bar you'll find in the area. You can order any of the food from the restaurant menu too. I really enjoyed their crispy chicken bacon Gouda sandwich. A very good beer selection, mostly local which was nice.
Brian G — Google review
Overall nice restaurant, food was good but be careful of the sirloin. I didn’t realize it’s normally cooked in a crock pot, ours definitely was more chewy than not. Nice rustic atmosphere, great friendly service.
Peter C — Google review
When you go into a place you’ve never been in before, it’s natural to look for either a server, hostess, or sign directing you to wait or seat yourself. We didn’t see any of these. After a few minutes of no eye contact with the only person working behind the bar we walked on to the patio and asked the server. She was nice and let us know to seat ourselves and order at the bar. The guy behind the bar taking orders seamed dismissive, and like he didn’t want to be there. It was awkward. Also,It wasn’t very busy but it still took 40 minutes to get our order. The food was “average bar food”. We have no desire to return.
Eric G — Google review
My boyfriend and I come up every year for his birthday, for the past 5 years now, and we always make this a stop. We almost always get our dinners here, and it's always very good! My boyfriends is a particularly big fan of the chilli! Says its the best hes had. The bartender, which I also believe had been there a while, is amazing at her job and very friendly. I look forward to our times here every year (:
Raven C — Google review
Charlie’s Mountain View is the best place to stop for a beer and food after a day on the mountain or if you’re just passing through. Locals and out-of-town-ers alike love stopping at Charlie’s. They have a restaurant side for the folks with kids and the bar side for the “adult kids”. 🍻
PDX M — Google review
The restaurant is a cozy little spot right off the road, serving fresh and tasty food. The French fries came out piping hot, which was impressive. We ordered shrimp tacos, a Caprese flatbread, and a Caesar salad—everything was delicious. I absolutely loved it, and the service was excellent.
Mohita T — Google review
Food is overpriced and small in quantity. It lacks taste and flavor. The server was new and friendly, but i had to go and ask for basics i.e. plates, cutlery, etc. Nice small place, clean, friendly staff, but given the past ratings, we expected better food and service.
Himanshu K — Google review
My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way home from camping today. The place had good reviews and we were wanting some good breakfast, so we were super excited to support local and stop somewhere right in Mt Hood. We sat down and checked out the breakfast menu on my phone, didn’t get any service. I’m a bartender, and so I thought i’d go order up front to save the bartender from having to come to us if she was too busy (there were maybe 6-8 other people there). We ordered two plates of food, a mimosa, and a coke. We got our own water at a self serve station and a buzzer to come up to the bar to get our food when it was ready. All very much self serve style. Upon signing my check and tipping $6 on a $44 tab, the bartender turns to me and says “that’s not even enough to cover the kitchen”. I was shocked because commenting on someone’s tip is a) extremely unprofessional and b) it’s all self serve!!! I had to order up front, carry my own drinks back, pick up my own food when the pager buzzed, and she had even mentioned there was free refills on sodas but that I would have to bring the glass back up to get it filled. In no way was she actually providing service to us besides taking our order! I always tip 20% for service but if there’s no service being provided directly at table, there is no rhyme or reason for tipping that much. I felt what I tipped was fair and the bartender made us feel so uncomfortable. We ended up leaving without our food, and I told her she could keep the money so that she could pay her cooks “the appropriate amount”. All of the others in the bar were clearly regulars, and she treated them so kind, brought their food to their tables, asked for refills about drinks. Needless to say, we will never be returning thanks to this horrible bartender (older white lady, long ponytail).

The Glacier House is a charming family-owned spot with an alpine atmosphere that offers European comfort food, along with a selection of beer and coffee. The ski lodge pub theme creates a clean and cozy ambiance. While some visitors found the Gyro to have thin meat, others were impressed by the vegan options like the BBQ jackfruit sandwich. The burgers are juicy and the fries are highly recommended.
We both really enjoyed our meals! Black Diamond Burger and the Hood River Grilled Cheese, super satisfying after a long hike. The menu does not state that the sandwich has blue cheese on it, yucky.. thankfully I couldn't really taste it but if you're like me and despise it, I'd ask when ordering to be sure.
Ally R — Google review
Very bad experience. The food came very slow. I asked for hot water and the waitress totally forgot about it. Waited 20 min before the meal came. Ordered potato croquettes, weird taste and no meat at all. The tomato sauce is very sour and does not go with the potato.
Jiayi X — Google review
We were hoping for quick lunch stopover on the trip home, but instead we got super slow service from their 2nd-day-on the job server (35 minutes to get our food). The place is a bit plain inside and they had sleep-inducing 50’s-70’s music playing (weird), but the huge piece of salmon on my gluten-friendly salmon lettuce wrap was moist and tender. It could have used some herbs or spices, but their apple-vinaigrette dressing on the side salad made a perfect accompaniment.
Crystal M — Google review
We were quickly seated and Orders were quickly taken, food got delivered in 20mins Good presentation of food

On way back from Bend to Portland and stopped here on Sunday afternoon. Ordered 2 Mazama salads. Excellent salads with right mix of ingredients and apple vinaigrette (home made) was just right mix of herbs and oil/vinegar. Waitress was very friendly. Unfortunately they are very understaffed and service was very slow as mentioned in past reviews. Too bad as they have great food. Oh well hope they fix that issue.
Flash 3 — Google review
Food was amazing and that's about it. My hubby didn't get a napkin the whole time I gave him mine. We sat ourselves and got our own menus. The waitress were at the bar eating food and playing on their phones. I know they need to eat, but to give themselves a 25$ tip for doing the bare minimum.... is a little outrageous. If your party is bigger than 5, our was 7 then gratuity is automatically added on there. We will NOT be eating here ever again.
Zanders P — Google review
This was my first visit to The Glacier House and overall it was a good experience! The burgers were juicy and the fries weren’t soggy! The server was nice and attentive and the food came out relatively quickly. I’m regularly up at the mountain and will definitely be stopping by here again.

Wow! I'm not used to having so many vegan options. That was delicious and such a pleasant surprise. I had the BBQ jack fruit sandwich with an apple vinaigrette which was nummy in it's own right. The hubby had the cheeseburger and fries. The fries were delicious and he really liked the aoli sauce on the burger. Definitely recommend this place.

Surprisingly, a fantastic Mexican eatery can be found in this small town. After a visit to Mt Hood, it is well worth stopping by The Taco Shoppe. Notably, the service is excellent, drinks are superb, and the food is delectable. As someone from El Paso, I was pleased to find menu options featuring Hatch Chile which is just nearby. The tacos and enchiladas were delicious while the salsa and tostadas (referred to as chips) were superb.
Who would have thought that you could find an excellent Mexican restaurant in this tiny town? We stopped in after visiting Mt Hood. Well worth the wait. Excellent service, great drinks, and tasty food. This is coming from someone from El Paso. They had menu items with Hatch Chile, that's just up the road from El Paso. Anyway. The tacos and enchiladas were great, the salsa and tostadas (they call them chips) were excellent. A must stop place after a day of sight seeing or hiking.

Stopped in on an early May Friday afternoon. Looked like a fun idea whole walking down the street. Was quiet and we got great service. Got the special beef quesadilla with hatch chillies. It was outstanding!
Eric M — Google review
Took a chance and ended up with a pretty awesome meal here. Nothing fancy; the mahi-mahi special was two tacos, refried beans and rice , but it was fresh, nicely cooked and hit the spot. Beer selection is pretty minimal and ambiance inside (or out) is nothing to write home about, and it’s not as cheap as you might expect, but there are worse places in Govvy for a good basic meal.
Andrew C — Google review
My family stopped in on a whim to try this place. The outdoor seating is wonderful. We ordered the special which was Mahi Mahi tacos with beans and rice. Our son ordered a beef and bean burrito. The service was great! The food was full of flavor and the only set back was we felt it was a little on the spicy side. Yes, I believe in spice! But I also feel like the hotness was just a little too much. We still had a great time and would consider going back and trying something different. GF options. Kids menu was great
Kelsey B — Google review
Five minute service, good food, and the cashier was very nice. They even had music playing and a sports game on TV.
Noah B — Google review
This will definitely be one of my favorites from now on after a day snowboarding! The beef burrito was everything I wanted it to be and was so big I took half of it home. The chips and queso were probably the best I have had in Oregon. Their chips are fresh! I wouldn’t recommend the fish tacos 🌮 The service was top notch. I recommend their hot apple cider
Natasha B — Google review
I'm giving them a 1 because I can't give a 0. This was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. The chips are store bought and not made in house, the guacamole wasn't fresh as claimed, and we were shorted a taco. They are also charging a 20% takeout service fee that they didn't disclose up front. All together a very unpleasant experience. Edited to add: all members of my family experienced stomach cramping a few hours after eating and one had vomiting as well.

Ski & Snowboard Areas
Timberline Summit Pass is a long-standing ski area with a history dating back to 1927. It offers three downhill runs, nordic trails, and three tube hills for winter fun. Located near Summit Ski and Snow Bunny Snow Play Areas, as well as close to larger ski resorts like Timberline and Mt. Hood Ski Bowl, it's an ideal destination for snow enthusiasts. In the summer, visitors can explore nearby campgrounds and hiking trails around Government Camp.
The Summit area is part of the Timberline ski area, and those familiar with the Wy’East day lodge will immediately recognize the similar layout and design. The ski/snowboard terrain is excellent for beginners, and as a warm up for the more advanced runs up top for intermediate riders/skiers. There are no black diamond runs. If you have a season pass, fusion pass, or day pass, you can access the lift, and there’s a complimentary shuttle that will take you to the top and back down. If you want you can also use the Alpine Trail run at the top to get back to Summit, as it goes all the way down. In the spring you can take the Palmer lift to the highest accessible point that Timberline offers, and through connecting runs go down the entire mountain and to summit. While not required it is polite to tip the shuttle drivers. Cash is preferred, but some do accept digital tips as well. If you do not have one of the previously mentioned pass options you are allowed 1 walk up run down the summit terrain, or 1 run down from the top. You will not be able to use the lifts or shuttle though. Be aware that the lodge at Summit is closed on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s, so you will not be able to purchase a day pass from the bottom on those days. Doing more than 1 walk up run, or run from the top, without a pass will result in being asked to leave. It is busiest on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the lot does fill up quickly. You will need to arrive before 09:00am to be able to guarantee that you’ll find a spot on those days. There is no overflow lot, so once the lot is full you will need to drive up to the main lodge for parking. During the week however there is plenty of available parking, sand holidays.

Perfect spot for a beginner or first-timer learning how to ski/snowboard. Easy access from Portland. Nice dynamic pricing for 1/2 day options. Runs are the perfect length, a few different route and obstacles to take (narrow, rolling hills/jumps, trees). And the snow was nice and powdery.

Stopped on the way home from camping for a quick bite to eat at 10am. Best breakfast sandwich ever! Seriously the bomb. The view of Hood in the background with a hot cup of Joe. 5 stars. Awesome customer service. No complaints.

It's one lift at Summit but has like 3 tracks to snowboard. I paid $60 for a half day for me and my son. This place is awesome!! I'm a beginner and my son is medium rider and he had a blast, I was worried that he'll be bored of Summit but he had fun.

Great place for a fun day In the snow and great staff this is hands down best place to go with family. I do recommend always carrying chains in your car because road conditions change very fast but the roads are very easy to maneuver and plenty of space for driving and not to far from sandy.

Bearbeque poem. My rented house entrance had one stair, and there was a noise, I knew it was bear. At midnight he was, I just didn't care. Too late for hellos by the trash can fare. Too tired to greet the front door bear. I was sleepy and ghosted the bear over there. But the trash can noise continue for a while, and I wondered if evening's barbeque made bear smile. So, I thought let me see the bear enjoy chicken dinner, but I couldn't see him through the high door windows. So I moved to the kitchen and saw the winner. He was loving the sauce from Timberline Summit Pass, dear lord it was spicy, this bear will know when tomorrow in the woods its time to pass. G. Larry Leonakis July, 7, 2023 A gift to Timberline Summit Pass Restaurant Mt Hood, Oregon. Wonderfully pleasant hospitality! They also have diet drinks! Try their Marion berry shake.

Nestled mid-mountain, Phlox Point Cabin is Timberline's charming warming hut that has transformed into a delightful ski-in-ski-out lunch spot. Originally built in 1930 as an overnight shelter for Boy Scouts, this cozy A-frame offers a refuge from the cold with its inviting atmosphere and delicious food options. Accessible via the WyEast Day Lodge, it’s perfect for those looking to refuel after hitting the slopes.
Great warming cabin taking a break mid-run from the slopes. The fireplace inside is nice to warm up. They have a bonfire set up outside. The tacos are delicious especially the carnitas. My kids enjoyed the hot chocolate sitting next to the fire.

The woman at the counter had the warmest smile and brightest eyes I think I’ve ever seen in my whole life. I felt so bad about not answering her “how’s it going?” properly, I came back to ski a second day and try again. Regrettably I did not ask her name, but I hope she’s having a good “weekend” off. I’ll never forget that face. Oh, and the tacos were good too :)

What’s not to love about amazing tacos in a remote cabin in the woods? Great conversations around the fire pit. Only negative is the toilets nearby but cant hold that against these fine purveyors of squatch tacs

Best food on Hood but how many people who show up open the door and don't close it behind them... I didn't realize this many Jerries were raised in a barn! Are there that many barns in the immediate area i just haven't noticed?

Super warm and toasty inside, just when you need it mid-run. They have a bonfire set up as well, but we enjoyed the fireplace inside more. The girls working there were very nice, and had a good playlist going. The homemade chips, guacamole, and pico de gallo for $8 were also a must-have.

Best warming hut vibes on the mountain! Tacos are incredible, beers are way too expensive. Welcome to a mountain resort!

I like this place. Prices are a little steep but it’s a great stop if you need to keep kids happy with a hot chocolate break!
