My family’s favorite place! Great food, fantastic staff, increibly beautiful place with a fun playground for kids. The whole family will love it and eat well!

Lunchtime at Mi Ranchita! We have been to several of these recognizable open-air restaurants on our travels. Festive atmosphere at times with music and staff in traditional clothing. Get your fill of all the typical Nica dishes. There is plenty of food for the whole family any time of the day. Drinks, sides, and all kinds of proteins for your liking. I had the mixed plate with the, make your own vigaron and skewers of meat barbecued to perfection. Homemade spicy pickled salsa really added to the whole meal. For breakfast, we usually order the typical meal with eggs and gallo pinto. Don't forget the fried cheese and sweet plantain. They do a great job of atmosphere and locations on the main roads, which seem to cater to the tourists, but nothing wrong with fancying up the traditional Nica food for large groups, foreign or nationals.

This restaurant is about 17.5 km from La Colonia Centroamérica. The place is big. The food was good and decent. The service was not so good but passable. Prices are similar to other restaurants but the food is a bit better. Recommend.

We arrived at the airport and our friends that picked us up said this is the place to go! We all order bajo. Let's see how good it is. I'll be back. Also they have these girls that come by and offer drink samples of wines and liquors. Bajo is a traditional Nicaraguan food plate. My mom always made it in California but this is truly a treat to actually eat it in my native country. It was absolutely delicious! We got buenelos for dessert!

The location is beautiful, the food was good, but they will rip off Americans who don't know the language, so bring an interpreter with you or go elsewhere. We went for the day, so I cannot comment on the condition of the rooms.

If you want to use the restaurant you must pay a minimum person at the entrance and pay the difference at the table. You can not just buy a water. Everything is an extras charge. The pool was cloudy and dirty. The restaurant food and drinks were good. Otto are server was very nice and helpful. No beach area so bring water shoes lots of rock. Lots of floating poop in the water. Great views though. There are more areas around the lake that offer more for less. I would go again but just to eat on the lake.

The worst place in Apoyo Lagoon. The place is closed compared to. other places around, there is no beach. I feel more like a crowdederestaurantant with ugly music than a beach place to chill. The entrance is crazy expensive. They assure you spend money on the restaurant (which I understand) but they do not include anything on the fee. If you go to any other place, you will pay 60% less; you can use kayaks and float. They charge extra even per a life vest, which I consider necessary even for the safety of the clients, but they want to make money even with that. Add the fact you can not add this kind of charge to your bill. We choose a table for. more people and instead of saying, can we maybe split it so we can use it for another group, they just told us we can't sit there and send us to a corner. There is no internet, no WiFi, just in ceirtants parts (where obviously we can't sit because we weren't a big prioritize group 💰 Don't expect too much of the menu. Is a basic Nica menu like any other place, but basic. Half of the dishes/drinks won't be available.

We went for lunch with a pregnant friend of ours. We paid the entrance fee and waited for 2 hours 15 minutes for food. We wanted a refund an hour after order because our (pregnant) friend was very hungry. The cashier agreed to give the refund and the horrible owner (the one who calls herself grandma) screamed at the cashier and told her she’d remove it from her wages. There was no apology and on top of that the food really was bad, small portion, over priced and over cooked. I would never give my business to this ungrateful grandmother.

If you want to have a good experience, then go somewhere else. The place is nice and I understand they ask you to pay a fee to get in, however the food was horrible, the waitress showed up every 30 minute. There are better places to go and spend less, eat well and have a good service.

The place is beautiful, the service is amazing , and the food is great but I got three plates of food and they charged me almost 100 dollars so don't come here if your outside of the country if willing to spend 100 for the food and the three drinks

What a great place. The cabin was small and cozy. The service it's awesome. Quiet night overlooking the lagoon calmed waters. The food in the restaurant is awesome and the amenities for the day pass are great pool, water sports in the lagoon....in a nutshell a great place to spend a couple of days resting and been taken care of. We were looking for a place to eat something different and walked around the central park. I've lived here in Masaya for over 2 years and never noticed this place. But to my surprise it was very nice, little steep on the price but it was a holiday ( Dec 25th). I had a fish fillet breaded style and my GF had beef steak which also juicy and well coked. I won't say I will returning soon BUT it is a place to take anyone you would like to impress spending over $30 with drink and meal.

Dropped in for a quick lunch after skipping the tourist trap restaurants at the Mirador half a block away. We received quick and friendly service. Burgers were tasty and cheap, beer was cold. We will return next time we are in Catarina. I give 4 for atmosphere not because it is fancy but because it is local, facing onto a typical Nica village street and seemed to be well taken care of and clean. The table didn't wobble and that is unheard of in Nica. I believe reviewer Betty Anderson must have dined elsewhere and gotten confused as this restaurant does not have a view of the laguna and the staff were wonderful, the food was not overpriced and it was quite good.

This restaurant is terrible. The food was mediocre and overpriced and the portions were tiny. The worst part is we saw a server blatantly overcharge a group of elderly visitors, then collect and pocket the US dollars they paid him and put the correct amount of cordobas in the till. I don't want to give it even a single star but I don't think I can post it otherwise...so I will say at least the view of the laguna was good.

This market will give you a taste of some of the goods Nica has to offer. There are lots of shops with all of them featuring a lot of the same items. (Hammocks, pottery, jewelry, etc.) It's a good place to get souvenirs. It is geared for tourists though and the prices of the products will reflect that. You can negotiate with them and they'll give a new price that's "just for you". There is a market about 4 blocks from this market that has prices for locals. This place is nice for a visit at least.

This old Spanish fort has been transformed into a vibrant local market. With hand made items , masks, and necklaces,, to various shirts, hats, shoes, and local produce. We stayed in San Juan del sur but stoped here to browse and shop. In the market there was live music , local food, great values and friendly faces. We are from America (Las Vegas) and used to the typical souvenir shop, this is definitely not it ! This craft market captures the culture and essence of the beautiful unique Nicaraguan people. Try to steer away from San Juan Del Sur , for shopping (if possible ). Most shop owners from San Juan Del Sur get all of their merchandise from here for dirt cheap and resell it to unsuspecting tourist at much higher prices. While in Nicaragua this is by far the best value for all your local souvenirs or beach wear.

Do you need souvenir? This is the place. It is safe, quality products, the key is to buy more than one and negotiate. The place is small but worth knowing.

We had such a great stay at San Simian Lodge! The location was so beautiful and peaceful. We saw lots of colorful birds around the lodge. We were able to swim in the laguna and use the kayaks. The food and drinks were fantastic. The lodge was able to provide transport to and from Granada. 100% recommend!

I love San Simian and hope to return soon! Daniel and his staff are wonderful, the rooms are nice and clean, the food is great, and the lodge is peaceful and relaxing! Highly recommend.

Definitely our most beautiful stay during our Costa Rica and Nicaragua trip. The scenery with the crater lake is beautiful and the resort itself as well. Swimming in the lake was an experience in itself. We spotted many birds and fish. Friendly host and personell. Very quiet, good food, and all the comfort you need.

Food was good, great flavor and cool but humus needs some improvements as well as the meal's portions. Lamb tasted great and the beef was awesome! Waiters were nice and attentive the whole time. Although we still prefer Pita Pita in Granada, we shall come back here when being in Masaya for errands.

Only ate dinner here. Food was tasty but the chips/fries served with three of our four dishes were very undercooked. We sent them back but they came back the same, so there's obviously a problem with how they're made. Also burger was ordered well done but arrived pink in the middle. Expected better for the price and received a modest discount for the inconvenience/dissatisfaction. Lovely spot by the lake, lights in the trees etc.

We had the absolute pleasure of spending 6 nights at this hidden gem. It is a beautiful boutique hotel set in a jungle-like environment on the shore of Laguna de Apoyo. The staff are lovely…very friendly and accommodating for all of our needs. We felt well looked after. The food, which was made from scratch, was excellent and reasonably priced. We relaxed in the various peaceful sitting areas at the lake, and also enjoyed the kayaks and the raft. The rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay. We highly recommend Casa Marimba.

We absolutely loved our experience here. Our meal was insanely well prepared and the service was amazing. Our server, Yailing, spoke little English but it worked for us! We are friends of Rafael’s and very grateful for his opening and keeping Casa Marimba going. The grounds are impeccable. We are looking forward to coming back during the day time hours. We ordered the specials which were fish & steak medallion wrapped in bacon. The size was immense compared to other places we’ve eaten but not cheap—well put together with the rice, vegetables, salad and protein source. Well put together menu. We ended with the special dessert, blueberry cheesecake and forgot to take a picture but the serving! If you’re two—go for one. Massive slice. Looking forward to coming back.

Came here for lunch when visiting the laguna as we heard the food was better than other beach clubs. Sadly I wouldn’t recommend it - it is very western food (pizza, burgers, pasta) but not executed particularly well. We ordered focaccia vegeteriana thinking it would be lovely bread with some fresh vegetables but sadly it was like a bad supermarket pizza, loaded with cheese and not very flavourful. It was much more expensive than the other options nearby as well (the beach club we spent the day at had a buffet for $290 proper meals for around $400 but this was more than $550 for just this focaccia pizza thing. Lovely setting though, might be nice to stay but not to eat

Casa Marimba is absolutely beautiful! The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, making the stay even more special. The food is a true delight, both in flavors and the overall experience. The rooms and beds are divine perfect for anyone looking to relax. If you want rest and tranquility, Casa Marimba is the ideal place. On top of that, the lagoon is spectacular, with warm, inviting waters.

We had a short stay because of an issue with our flight, but it was absolutely wonderful. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They even arranged transportation for us. The grounds were beautifully maintained. The food was fresh and delicious and a great deal in my opinion. The coffee and free breakfast were amazing. We swam at night and during the day. The water was so blue and warm. This place is a little piece of heaven. Thank you for making our first night in Nicaragua so perfect!
