Where to eat: the 44 best restaurants in Port Antonio

We came here because our hotel manager advised us to go. When we saw the 3,9 score on Google we were a bit hesitant, but the pictures of the food looked good so we decided to just go and try for ourselves. Glad we did so. We ordered the curry lobster with plantains and it was nice. Other guests had nice looking food on their plates also 😍. If we would've come earlier we would've tried other dishes also. Mind you, it can be hot inside, so make sure you sit under the fan. Also, their cat seems to be famous and very social 😉

Ordered fish and steak meals. Fish meal was good. Steak serving was very small and served on a bed of wet vegetables. Not at all what was expected and not filling. Place also needs general maintenance works.

Had an amazing evening yesterday the food was on point. The shrimp curry was A-Mazing full of flavours and delicious. The waitress was attentive and friendly. A gem in the parish of portland. Cannot wait to go again

Fantastic place to have dinner / breakfast. The best food we had so far traveling through the Island. The owner is a super nice gentleman; in addition to delicious food we had great conversations!

This spot really didnt live up to my expectations. Drove a long way to check this place out, only to find the facility under new management and the owner/chef/cashier/waiter and his cat attending to our needs. The food wasnt good and of the three dishes only two persons partially tasted the meal. The chef/waiter/owner didnt even care to say anything about the third person not touching the meal. The only sad thing is I didnt read all the reviews before visiting. Definitely not going back

Fabulous place! Red snapper with plenty of scotch bonnet peppers (as requested by me) and lobster with the most incredible garlic sauce I've tasted. Such a welcoming host/chef and his teenage daughters were delightful in serving. 5 stars, definitely recommend!

The chef/owner is incredible. The lobster fried, the red snapper in curry sauce, all was incredible. Plus the atmosphere with the music and the view of the ocean made it 10/10. Definitely eat here, you will be happy you came!

After a morning drive deep into maroon country, we arrived back to Port Antonio ready for lunch. Having read good things, we decided to try soldier camp and were delighted with our experience! Everold greeted us warmly and explained some of his background, then outlined the menu options which were extensive enough to give a choice but at the same time keep it real. Two steamed bass with okra from his tree and fried plantain and one crab with roti later, we were well fed and satisfied! He’s passionate about using real ingredients and skilled at preparing them, we’ll be back again on the weekend!

TOURIST TRAP. AVOID! Got here, place was deserted except for a drunk guy hunkered down at the nearby table. No music until our driver asked the owner to turn on some low key 70's tunes to amplify the vacant vibe. Granted, we were early for dinner, but it felt eerie, and the lack of service was, even in Jamaican standards, appalling. Owner finally came out and told us the daily recipes. Ordered the oxtail (2), and the coconut curry shrimp (1), which people have raved over. An hour later, our guide asked about where our dinner was, and served us two more Red Stripes from the bar. Crickets from the owner. Finally, dinner arrived. Super small portions, curry seemed like it was from a package, and fully unsatisfying. Bill was $90 for slop. I have NO idea why this place is raved about. Overall, it was TERRIBLE

Well cooked, tasty food and excellent service by Soldier. Came away very satisfied and happy. We would have like to dine there again but ran out of time in Port Antonio. I give this restaurant 10/10.

One of the best meal so far in Jamaica. Wish we are it here earlier in the trip so we could have come here more often. Delicious lobster and even more delicious coconut shrimp and fried green plantains.

We were recommended this place by the person we're staying with. He called ahead for us to see what was on the menu (which is advised). We travelled by taxi, which is also advisable as the streets which lead you there are narrow, uneven and double parked. However the sat nab instructions are correct. We were the only diners which gave the evening an air of mystery. The restaurant is rustic but clean and full of old flags from all corners of the globe. The owner's daughter waited on us and she was super kind and sweet. There's no written menu or price list. I am assuming because it's just a small place, using seasonal produce the menu and prices will fluctuate. Also it's really a local Jamaican cash based place (they do have a card reader but it will charge back in USD) which means the prices are very reasonable given how much effort goes into the cooking. We paid roughly 11000 for 4 people (including drinks) which given the night before we ate at Gee Jams and the food there was nowhere near as good and paid 5 times as much then, this should put the lack of menu and pricing structure into context. As the food is freshly cooked by the chef you must be patient as this is not fast food but home made food. When the food arrived it was beyond words. The crabs were whole, red and fresh. The chef let us break into the legs with a cracker then he broke the body, as we failed miserably. The snapper was whole, light and fluffy which complemented the beautiful coconut curry with lots of fresh vegetables. The shrimps were juicy, firm yet tender and also went well in their curry sauce. All of this was accompanied with rice and peas, and plantain. The meal was plentiful and nourishing because it was so well cooked and seasoned. We got to meet the chef. He was wonderful and really humble. If you want apcal, Jamaican restaurant run by someone who cares about cooking then this is definitely worth visiting.

My aunt was visiting from New York and we drove from St. Mary to go there. I was urged to go just by the warm and welcoming voice over the phone. The food was excellent, just right. The staff was very courteous and friendly too, and it's the first restaurant I went to with complimentary wet wipes😊. I loved the rustic outdoor feel...it felt like 90s Jamaica in the dance hall. I'll definitely visit again.

I recently spent a week in Jamaica, and dining at Roots 21 Kitchen was one of the highlights of my trip. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with genuine warmth that made me feel at home. The atmosphere captured the essence of Jamaica— vibrant, and full of good energy. The food was absolutely unforgettable. I tried the jerk chicken, oxtail, and curried goat, and each dish was seasoned to perfection with that rich, authentic Jamaican flavor you simply can’t replicate anywhere else. The fresh ingredients and bold spices truly stood out. The side dishes—rice and peas, festival, and plantains—were the perfect complement. Everything tasted homemade, with love and care in every bite. Personally, my favorite drink was the frozen coffee! I did have a few of the other drinks on the menu and I really couldn’t complain. What really impressed me was the consistency. I came back more than once during my stay, and each visit was just as satisfying as the last. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the staff made sure I was always comfortable and happy. It's Not worth the hype I saw this place from a YouTube video so I decided to try. Waited 1hr 55min to get my food. The food wasn't worth the wait. They also have a 'Dutch-pot' concept, which I was not fond of -the concept needs to be relinquished. I would not visit again. However, Portland is a great parish so the location is good.

This definitely needs to be redone. The food was good. The service was excellent. The prices were good. The portions were good. We enjoyed ourselves. We had various different off the menu. I have the lobster people in my party had the oxtail someone had the shrimp. Everything was good no complaints. We’ll definitely be back.

I had an amazing time at Roots21 when I visited on my vacation. The food was so good we went back more than once and the vibe is so dope. They also have a smoke shop on site with lots of goodies.

The food was a 10/10. One of the best restaurants on the island in my opinion. From the taste to the presentation. However, the service wasn’t the best. The waitress was not pleasant at all. Definitely needs to be trained in customer service.

Roots 21 is a true hidden gem in Portland! From the moment you arrive, the warm and laid-back atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The service is genuine, and you can tell they pour love into everything they do. The YaadMan Things platter was out of this world, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and cooked with that authentic island touch. But the real star of the evening was the coconut curry fish with bammy. The balance of spices, creamy coconut, and the soft, golden bammy on the side was absolute perfection. It’s easily a 10/10 dish, comforting, fresh, and unforgettable. If you’re ever in Portland, Roots 21 is a must-visit . Fritzroy & Lewis service was impeccable. Come hungry, leave happy, and know you’ve experienced some of the best local flavors Jamaica has to offer.

Good option for Port Antonio! We had dinner there 3 nights. Everything was delicious - stews, coconut shrimps, curried goat. The drink selection could be better (red stripe and coctails please :)). The waitress is very kind and attendive. Would recommend in Port Antonio!

Where do I start..My mother, cousin and I went for lunch at Fusion Bites, WOW. The restaurant was welcoming. The customer service was excellent. Our server (we cannot remember her name) had a unique name was very attentive and made us feel at home. The food was so good we went back twice. The 2lb escovitche fish and steam vegetables is the best we have had in a long long time.. the children's menu had a very good selection even for the fussy eaters. COMPLIMENTS to the chef who we met the second time we had lunch. I'm not sure we'll be able to fit in another visit before we leave but we WILL BE BACK. Peace, love and blessings to you all. A wonderful gem we have found.

Great food, all 5 dishes we tried were super tasty, the oxtail was a bit spicy, but wonderful. Our server Asianeek provided some great service, with a witty sense of humor. The restaurant is located on the top floor of the Royal Mall, don’t be afraid to ask for directions :)

As of December 2023, this no longer exists. We searched the location and finally got confirmation from a woman who worked nearby that it had closed permanently.

Had the beef burger loaded with ripe plantain. It was nice and loved the fries as well. Owner was pleasant and polite as usual. We arrived a little before opening and she still accomodated us.

Once I'm in port Antonio this is my go to spot for ham and veggie burgers. Must have burger would be the full house burger with fried plantains. Love it!!!

If you see this very unassuming hole in the wall on your journey you must stop and try the plantain burger!!! It was delicious and fresh. They fries were hot and just right. The drinks on the other hand was ridiculously overpriced.. my tip is to go across the street and buy from the shop. Friendly service and such a charming hidden gem. I loved it!!!!

We popped by as in the area from the UK. Fantastic hosts who welcomed us with excellent potato cake, the meat and the veggie burger are 5*****. Great value and a lovely time. Thank you so much guys!

For the size of the portions or burgers the price is not appropriate! The burgers are ok but not more! The salad as a side dish was only cabbage without dressing! The fries have tasted fat after old fries. Price performance not good!

The food is okay, but the burger are small. That would be okay if the sides were bigger & better. But the chips tasted like old oil and the salad had no dressing. The waitress also forgot our ice. We were disappointed. But to be honest there are not really better restaurants in that area. Maybe better go to Port Antonio.

This place serves some good thin crust pizza and a mean pasta! Its an unassuming building in the heart of port antonio but authentic italian dishes! The servings are on the small side but its worth it!

For the amount of times I've been going to Portland and never previously dined there I could kick myself. 10/10 must dine at establishment once you're in Port Antonio, Portland Parish Jamaica.

I’ve been dying to eat here but I never will. The gentleman behind the counter was utterly rude and only seemed to care for white tourists. I respect myself too much to take his nasty attitude so I left immediately. Great pizza can be found all over the world and trust that I would know. It’s a bad representation of Italians and Jamaican hospitality. PS Maybe if some more light was in the place he would cheer up. It was gloomy, small and didn’t look like much to eat at.

The staff was very friendly! The food. My Goodness the food was great!!! The portions were reasonable. The view from the restaurant windows are so captivating. All and all it was a wonderful experience! Ordering dinner there now while I am writing this. However the restaurant could do with some more upgrades.

The food is absolutely well prepared and mouth-watering. We could smell the aromatic seasonings going into our meal before it was even ready to be served. The entrance is a bit confusing and don't be discouraged by it's "shanty" appearance. It looks nicer on the inside, I promise. What it lacks in decor, it a thousand times makes up for in the cuisine.

The restaurant itself has a great location right on the beach, we went right at sunset so it was very beautiful. The food quality was good, we had curried goat and Barby fried chicken. My complaint though is that the food was somewhat cold and the portion size was small for what I paid. We paid $800 Jamaican per plate. I've lived in Jamaica for 2 years and honestly you can get more food with just as good quality or better and not pay as much at a random cook shop that isn't so touristy.

European place in the 3rd world country

We tried the restaurant only, not the hotel. The staff were very friendly, the ambiance is just blissful. Nice place for photo opportunities and just to relax in a quiet place with good company. My advice - the food is done to order so ensure to ask how long before you order. Ours took exactly 1HR and 2mins to arrive, but by the time we started eating, the lateness was a thing of the past - the food was GREAT.

The food is trash. The meal lacked flavor and wasn't seasoned properly. All they did was put a lot of salt on the wings. I've never had chicken this bad before. Our server was nice and tried to accommodate us but the kitchen staff need to be fired cuz I could prep a better meal with my eyes closed. I paid $65 USD for 2 servings of wings and fries. I wouldn't mind the cost if the meal was palatable. I boxed it up and gave it to the dog. Speaking of dog they had one in the restaurant the entire time. This is unsanitary!

The rooms were great and the food excellent. Definitely gonna be going back again. All the rooms face east so you'll be greeted by the sun (for all my late sleepers)

It is great place for intermacy and privacy. The view of the sea is breath taken. It's a hidden gem in Paradise. Support Jamaican ; as it is one of few Jamaicans established resort.

The environment is very quiet with a beautiful view though it could use a bit revamping where the bar is located ... Warning the food is ridiculously over priced we had two drinks and a order of curry goat and oxtail that came up to $8000jmd and the food wasn't even made fresh its reheated as we Jamaicans call warm up food service wasn't good can't help to feel we were taken advantage of won't be going back and the road to get there is littered with pot holes . In reply to this establishment the person who catered to us told us he had to heat up the rice when he was told the rice was hard my food was fine but this alerted me that the food was being reheated which at that price u would think it's made fresh it took about 30min to be prepared curry goat and oxtail can't be cooked that fast and we were the only ppl there I'm not here to put down your establishment but u should take these negatives and use them to do better ... The roads I understand and it is a beautiful place truth is the food is over priced and wasn't freshly made sorry my review isn't 💯% positive

Gotta give credit to this place for actually having good pizza in Jamaica. Amazing owner. Feels like you’re going to your nonna’s house and you can’t ask for anything more. Don’t go in expecting real deal italian pizza, but go in expecting family vibes and affordable good food. I do recommend calling ahead! Small kitchen and team. Which makes it even better.

The restaurant is open on Wed-Sat. But, it was closed when we visited it on Saturday at 5:00pm. I understand the cook went home early. The bar was open with cold beer. Don't know if it's open on Sun-Tue when restaurant is closed. This place is really quite nice. Just a bit worn out.

It's a great spot with a beautiful view. The hostess Rose was amazing and the food was great. Will go back again.

I stopped here and had a frozen drink, pepper shrimp, and fried plantains for lunch. They were all amazing. The staff was very friendly and welcoming as well. I planned on coming right back for dinner if things wouldn't have come up. I will definitely be back.

Dining experience was top tier, customer service was wonderful. The food is unmatchable, well seasoned and cooked to perfection, I would recommend any and everyone to dine here and to bring a friend or family member. It was truly a great experience. Hats off to the chef and the owner Richard Coore as they turned a good night into a memorable one for me and my bae.

Best Easter bun! I've buying their bun for seven years straight. I almost did not buy any bun because shoppers Fair did have any all week. I went today and they're in stock. Really tasty and affordable.

I had an amazing time here even on a cold cloudy day. This was hands down the best part of my trip to Somerset. Upon arrival, things start off rocky. The prices for non Jamaican are a bit offensive to be honest. I hate that these are the fees but after I got over it, it was an enjoyable experience. The hidden waterfall was perfect. It you do come here I suggest you wear water shoes. I walked around barefoot and it was okay but I would’ve preferred swim Shoes. Also bring a water proof case for your phone to take pictures at the falls. This place is definitely a day activity. Theres a pool, a slide, a bar and the staff was very welcoming and friendly as well. Aside from the price, We had a good time. I have to stress that. I would definitely come back here and I would encourage others to come as well. Thank you for making our trip memorable!

After all these years, I anticipated that this place would've at least maintained its beauty. Sadly, it's looking tattered and torn. Fortunately, the falls and river is mostly clean and still majestically beautiful. The staff is very polite and helpful. The bathroom facility was clean. The boat ride to the falls is short but very satisfying when done right. Patrons were constantly being reminded of rules around sanitization and safety - all locals. Sadly. We went the Tuesday after Easter Monday and was charged "holiday rates". It's still one of my favorite place to pop in. It just could use a face-lift and decent food court/bar.

The experience was the best, the falls was awesome, the environment was well keptz the place had a great vibe, the workers were friendly and attentive, the cold fresh water was very refreshing it was just an awesome experience that you just have to be there to experience it for yourself

I loved the falls, didn’t go in the pool too much kids so I let them enjoy my part too 😅, another slide thing I let them enjoy that too for me. I think the houses need fresh painting though and the pool walls, more birds probably because the one that was their wild and then the man indicated that because he’s in the cage that long he’s not gonna come out now. More colors flowers. The falls was nice..

Absolutely breathtaking! Went during the work week, so it was only me and my friend with the tour guides. There’s an entrance fee $1000 (locals) and $1500 (tourists). It was very quiet and we went closer to closing time 5pm so we didn’t stay long. But we saw the tour and went under the falls, had a massage from the falls and swam for a bit. Would DEFINITELY recommend and return!!

I love you Portland ❤️. Somerset Falls, definitely had a blast even though they were experiencing a drought. A must visit with family and friends, it's a Vibezz 😄. Don't be afraid to jump into the 6 feet deep water near the falls, I sure wasn't. Just remember your life jacket please if you don't know how to swim like mwah 😅. Definitely visiting in the near future 💕

We went on a Sunday,surprisingly there weren't a lot of people there. There were 2 birthday parties. The pool area was very empty, not as crowded as I expected it to be. I had ordered food from the restaurant and waited about 25 mins. It was worth the wait because it was freshly made. The walk to the falls is about 5 mins . The scenery is gorgeous on the way up. We expected a long line up by the falls as well, but we only waited about 5 mins for our tour. Our tour guide Alex was very professional and very friendly. He encouraged us to try everything and made us feel comfortable. Over all very good experience.

So fresh! So plentiful! Belinda hauls in the ingredients everyday to make meals for those going down the Rio Grande. Meal was delicious. We shared the fish - sooo flavourful! Loved every bite! The plantain was amazing! Best to order ahead just in case she runs out. Meal was $3000jmd and so worth it - Drinks however were pricey - we shared a Ting and our raft captain had 1 drink and it was $1300jmd. We swan off shore after our meal. Was perfect stop!

I host retreats in Portland Jamaica every 6 months. Belinda’s is a must stop when we go rafting! Ms.Belinda is amazing! Her food is delicious!!! Her staff is warm and accommodating! I wish o could eat at her place everyday!!! A must do if you are in Portland❤️

It’s the only place to eat on your Rio Grande rafting trip, but don’t think that means to expect less than the best. Belinda has a couple of choices of meats each day and a plethora of Jamaican sides. Her goat curry is hot, flavorful and the most tender I’ve ever had. For about $20USD ($3000JMD) we got big meals for 2 and rum punch. Call ahead (or have your hotel do so) to make sure she’s open when you do your raft tour. I’d do the raft tour again just to have lunch at Belinda’s!

Belinda's food was DELICIOUS 😋😋. So good I had the curry goat with all the sides. Was $2000 JMD and $1000 JMD for two drinks for the captain and I. I would sail down the river again just to eat her food. So good.

Belinda is a fabulous chef! We had heard good things about her food but we were blown away by the variety of all we were served, and the portions were generous. Our bellies were nice and full, and we are so pleased to have had the opportunity to try Belinda’s delicious food!

This truly is a once in a lifetime experience. Dickie welcomes you into his adorable, quirky family home on the waters edge (think Alice in Wonderland) and serves you up the most fantastic 5 course meal. The food was Michelin star quality at budget price. We had the most delicious veggie omelette we'd ever had, and the freshest lobster and fish. If a unique, quirky dining experience is your thing, Dickie's is the place to go.

We were fortunate to be spending time on our holiday with a native Jamaican. She said this restaurant came highly recommended. Otherwise by look of outside, probably would have passed. You cant appreciate this place until you walk in the door. It is built on a steep hill. So when entering, you don't go far before descending some pretty steep stone steps. There are several levels each of which has a semi-private dining experience. It is certainly not a five-star experience so adjust your expectations. It's Jamaica man. Very warm and friendly people you deal with. Decent food. It is propper protocol to call your order in ahead of time. Our experience at Dickie's enriched our holiday. I highly recommend it.

Super beautiful, it looks like nothing from the outside, barely large enough to go in. Also many taxis didn't know where it was, so be sure to mark it on a map. We needed to not take a route taxi to get there. We walked in and it was a set menu, it was a five course meal of fruit, fresh coconut jelly and water, soup, veggie omelette, shrimp and fish, and cake. Super delicious, dickie is a wonderful host, but definitely not the cheapest meal- about $24 American, but totally worth it!

This is the best home-cooked meal you will have in Jamaica! From soup and fruit to a delicious omelet to amazing fish, just remember to bring your own beverages, and call ahead for any size group. Dickie and Joy and their family are delightful. Every place setting is unique, and the art, mementoes, and sculpture adorn the dining rooms, which appear to be suspended off a cliff over the ocean. NOTE: not for people who would have trouble with steps or uneven floor.

Simply loved it! Such a simple yet unique setting. This place doesn’t serve alcohol but I don’t know if it’s byob.. a question worth asking? What I do know is that this place is definitely worth checking out. I have dietary restrictions and I am a mother of a two year old. I was happy to find this place as they were happy to work with my diet, still provided me an authentic experience in their very unique setting. We onlycame here for lunch as we had just arrived to Drapers and hadn’t gone shopping. We were the only ones there. The waitress was rude and not welcoming at all. Defo had an attitude. Appeared upset that we’d taken her away from her phone. The fish was defo not fresh that day and cooked heavily in oil/garlic and mashed potatoes average and vegetables fairly bland. Nothing special. Would not go back based on staff behaviour.

Just as Portland is a hidden secret, Ms Vanessa‘s restaurant and Inn, is something spectacular! From Janelle’s sweet smile to Wayne‘s quietly working and Darren cutting down coconuts, and as always Ms Vanessa and her landscaping gardening abilities are all what make this place very memorable! I can’t say enough good things about this family atmosphere. I had Tameka come do a massage for me by the Koi pond and we did yoga every morning with the fresh fruit and I came back so relaxed with a fresh mindset. Staying and dining at the Inn at the cove was a real treat. Vanessa and her staff are lovely, the property is cool and relaxing, and more importantly, the food was a 10/10. This is one of my go-to places whenever I'm in Portland, across from Frenchman's Cove and a very short drive from the world-famous Blue Lagoon.

I had the opportunity to stay at Inn at the Cove near Frenchman's Cove in San San recently. I was quite happy with my stay. It was very clean, nice pool, comfortable bed. What blew me away was the customer service...Vanessa and Brown Man (aka front desk staff, concierge, chef and IT department) paid such attention to me and my family and the food...so good. Best escoveich fish I have had so far! I would recommend this pearl...it's a bit off the beaten path but we'll worth it for a comfortable stay. Thank you Vanessa and your team!

The food was pretty good... the fish was a good size... I had curried coconut fish was very delicious. You receive 3 festivals with the order however the festivals were very small. Some baking powder would be a great addition to the festivals. The customer service can be better. We werent noticed when we got in.

The experience at Cynthia’s was exceptional! A pre-order was done and a reservation made and upon arrival the table was set and we were warmly welcomed. Had lunch and breakfast at Cynthia’s and she didn’t disappoint. Both were group meals, the spread was good and tasty, the kids loved (and finished) their meal too.

I truly enjoyed my experience at Cynthia's. Her customer service was great. Called her in the morning and told her what I wanted for breakfast. She had it ready by the time we got there. The food was fresh and delicious. If and when I return to Portland I'll visit again.

Go here if you want good, local food *on a beach* where you can take a dip while you wait, or just talk with people and learn about where you are. If you want a reliable menu (Cynthia serves what she has, call ahead if you want something specific) or punctual service (maybe our food was given to another table first by accident, it's a family operation) head to a restaurant elsewhere.

One of the best meals we had in Portland. Cynthia has a couple of options (fried chicken, grilled fish and vegetables when we were there). Her Jamaica sides are amazing: breadfruit that had the perfect crust, festival (fried dough) that was the perfect balance of savory and sweet. She is also a super friendly and warm lady. The fish, chicken, sides, 4 beers and tip was $5000JMD. There are a lot of shops on the beach, her place is to the left as you enter.

Great food in a beautiful location. Portions were generous and there was a nice vegetarian selection too. Very reasonably priced drinks. The beach location is stunning. Cynthia was also extremely hospitable and made us feel very welcome.

The food was very good, didn't like the mash though, we ordered appetizers and my husband got his and was finished before I got mine. The server was ok, she tried but just think she needed some more training. What I mean by server needs more training is, we were seated at a table for four, she didn't remove the extra settings, didn't pour us water and took awhile to check back on us. Upon arrival I wasn’t impressed parking was limited and the front of the business gave average business. HOWEVER! When I scaled the steps to second floor it was like I entered a different world. I was greeted with a warm smile and a modern chic setting so clean the workers must had clean each title individually. Where the star of the show was the food and the customer service let take a moment to talk about the view this place offered. The open porch style dining experience created a panoramic view of the ocean coupled with the most beautiful sunset I’ve seen in my lifetime it would be hard pressed for me not to give this place a solid 10/10. Highly recommended!

This was hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Port Antonio. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and the service was just as impressive as the food. The wings were perfectly crispy, seasoned to perfection, and addictive. Traveling all the way from Lucea, Hanover after a very bad experience for the first time at Roots 21 kitchen and bar, which is where our initial stop was, we decided to go hunting for another spot to dine since we traveled so far and we found this spot on Google maps just 11 minutes down the road. Great customer service, amazing view of the sea, the atmosphere is 10/10, lovely soothing music. The setting was right, food 1000% would recommend, taste great if I could shake the chefs hand I would, and it will full your belly because it was 7 of us, we sat together and we had to take home the rest of our food. But the seafood boil sauce was a little on the salty & spicy side but it was great and was a belly full and they had everything on the menu but if they didn’t have something they would tell you beforehand before you ordered or they would sub it for something else but they will tell you first. They give you a visual of the type and size of fish you’re getting before you order. Whenever you visit DI HIP STRIP ULTRA LOUNGE ask for a Miss Jennifer she will get you right. Her customer service is top tier, she checked on us, made sure we had water and all the necessary utensils, got all our orders correct down to the T🤭 we all got the blended fruit punch and it was amazing. Miss Jennifer even asked if anyone of us was celebrating a birthday and gave my mom in law and my boyfriend‘s uncle a special treat and the staff sang happy birthday, since they were both celebrating their birthday on the same day. I would 1000% recommend DI HIP STRIP ULTRA LOUNGE! I just wish it was closer to home and not so far 😭😭

After a long day of driving, this was a great first meal in port Antonio! We tried the fried chicken and the beef, both were delicious. The rice was also so yummy, it had a hint of coconut which made it even better!

We found this great restaurant in Port Antonio after a long day. We received a very friendly welcome and the menu was explained to us. A vegetarian dish was also no problem. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty.

Their food is a typically good love the spicy chicken wings and cow foot. My husband likes the stew peas, stew pork and fried chicken. The potato salad and mash potatoes are tasty also the fried rice. I wish they made an actual pasta salad instead of plain macaroni. They have a nice selection of beverages to choose from and their cheesecake is pretty good. The staff are friendly and helpful. If I had one suggestion is to speed up the service. They tend to move slow, but coming from the U.S. I am use to our customer service being more efficient. Otherwise, I would recommend this place. It's always clean inside, the staff looks clean and the food area is also clean. No parking is available but you can park by the seaside and walk over in less than 2 min.

What i really liked about this spot was that aside from the standard jerked and fried chicken they also have sweet and sour and barbecued chicken. Both Sweet & Sour and BBQ were delicious. I would definitely come here again.

The best restaurant in Portland. The food is always what you are looking. The menu is extensive with an wide variety of sides. The bbq pork chops in the brown gravy are amazing, the stew pork, the bake chicken the fried chicken could go on and on. Stop in! It's worth the stop, the staff is professional, courteous and efficient. There is little to no wait no matter how crowded it is. Great job! Thank you for the consistently good food always! 👍

This is a restaurant that is located close to Frenchman’s Cove Beach. It is accessible from the main coastal road a few kilometres from Port Antonio. I had the escovitch fish with plantain and red beets and it was fresh and delicious. The service staff was courteous and efficient. There was ample parking available in front of the restaurant which is part of the Inn of the Cove hotel. The ambiance of the restaurant was laid back and comfortable. I would definitely dine here again.

You get to eat looking out over the beautiful garden. The menu has fresh seafood on it, which is nice. The food is tasty and looks attractive. We had a rum punch that was killer! You can combine eating here with going to the nice beach called frenchman’s cove, which is just across the road.

This was our first meal in Portland having spent a week on the west side of Jamaica and it was, and still is, the best Jamaican food we've eaten to date with a price that would make you eat seconds...if you had space. However it's not just the food but the homemade juices too...check out the Sorrel..you will drink plenty. This was the first place where the rice and peas were made properly, and made of gungo (pigeon peas). The delicate blend of thyme, gungo pea water and seasoning was spot on. The meat for the dishes was cooked to perfection, the fat was rendered and crisp, there was lots of meat on the oxtail and the vegetables were fine and fresh. We liked the food so much that we dropped by for breakfast too, and what can I say, The Akee was so fresh and intact, not that mush you get out of the tin. Also it had proper vegetables in it (peppers and tomatoes), which many places omit yet charge like they are there. I got talking to the owner Vanessa who is dedicated and passionate about food and providing excellent customer service. Her culinary skills are excellent and it was nice to see her passing them onto her staff who also provided us with first class service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to sample what Jamaican food really tastes like, find out more about how it's cooked and where the fruits and vegetables come from- as they are there in front of you on the splendid gardens that surround the restaurant. Oh and the prices are in Jamaican dollars which also makes a change! Update: We loved it so much that we chose Vanessa's for our final meal in Portland and in Jamaica. Third time around and the food was tops.

I really enjoyed coming here every morning for coffee and breakfast. The woman here were super friendly and helpful offering many suggestions of things to do. They also have rooms here to stay which i found out later. Will definitely be coming back.

My recent consecutive visits to Vanessa’s fine food for breakfast were far from satisfactory. Both days, I ordered sunny side up eggs with bacon, expecting a fulfilling meal. However, I was met with disappointment as the eggs were consistently broken. Additionally, the dish, which was supposed to include nothing but two tomato slices and toast, lacked the promised accompaniments. To exacerbate the situation, on the first day, the bacon was served after I had finished my meal, and on the second day, they were out of bread altogether. Considering the steep price of the breakfast menu, one would anticipate a higher standard of quality and service. It's disheartening when such a simple order cannot be executed properly, particularly at such a significant cost. Overall, a very disappointing way to start the day indeed.

The drive to Portland might be a harrowingly long one depending on where you are staying, but it will give you time to see the real jamaica as you pass coastal villages, droves of coconut trees kissing the roads, and an abundance of farms with fruits in season. The location sits directly on the beach and you will instantly feel the vibe of tranquility as soon as you exit the car and smell the aromas of soup cooking. A tent will be organized with pillows and a table on the ground, chairs are available for those who would prefer to sit in them. Take this time to grab a swim, explore the cave (but make sure you have shore shoes) while the food cooks . By the time you have enjoyed the tranquil waters, a round of soup with both lobster and chicken will be served. Both soups were light, with just enough flavor to prepare the pallet for the heavy meal to follow. The prearranged menu allows you to select three main dishes (meat or seafood) that included lobster, snapper, jerk pork, curry goat, oxtail, jerk chicken, fresh vegetable slaw, rice and peas, and festival! The lobster was sweet, and not overcooked, the snapper fried nicely and seasoned, the jerk pork tender. The vegetable slaw was crisp and a nice balance to accompany the seafood and meat. Basmati rice was used for the rice and peas, cooked to perfection with a slow hint of heat and fresh coconut milk. I have never tasted a festival that had such sweetness yet held the perfect density and remained fluffy. I don’t care if you are a fan of juices or not, the cucumber lemonade is an absolute must, and since a fresh coconut comes with the experience, don’t forget to bust it open and scrape out the jelly. Now, please remember this is outdoor cooking using wood and coal in a rustic environment. Don’t expect that bland resort food, or quick service. Prepare your mind to enjoy island time so that your expectations of the experience are not tainted. The food is all cooked fresh, and on site after arrival, so please understand if the wait time seems extended. All staff assist in cooking and serving, but are friendly and attentive. Take a minute to visit the guys under the tent over the flames, nothing but happy smiles ready to answer questions and explain what’s bubbling in the pot! This is a hard working crew, make sure you tip them well and give honest feedback about the food and service, I am sure it will be much appreciated! Areas of Improvement The restroom needs running water, and didn’t have toilet paper during my visit, but there is a pipe outside with running water for you to wash your hands. The timing of the food, while I did enjoy the experience, the food took almost 3 hours and that is a problem because nobody wants to spend all that time in the water. The seating is on the sand and very low and could be difficult for an elderly person to get up off the sand and pillows. While the staff is attentive, time could be managed a bit better to provide a more pleasant experience and much quicker delivery of the food. Yes I would book again, but I would hope the areas that need improvement would have been addressed. Enjoy Unnerved Traveler

The food was very good. Everyone was very kind and helpful. We were not impressed with the music selection. We would have appreciated more island vibe music to help lift the atmosphere. The beach was very nice but it needed to be cleaned. $10,000 for two vegan meals and juice was well overpriced. Was originally $12,000 until we questioned it. We live in Jamaica so we know the going prices. We thought we had a new hangout spot, but we can not afford to be repeat customers as we had planned. We paid 3 times higher than average. The island has "foreigner price" but this was too high. Food is cooked to order, which we love. You can enjoy the beach and patiently wait for the food to be prepared. They also except reservations. We are glad we were able to experience it but can't afford to come back, unfortunately. We wish Oshea and staff all the best.

The experience is nice. Definitely for seafood lovers. The music is good, table set up good and catering style ok. We had a little wait for the food and my chicken was cold but everyone else with the seafood enjoyed it. I think it’s a little pricey, the cost can be scaled back a little. Drinks not included and the serving size is a little small. But it’s a nice authentic Jamaican experience on the beach.

My family had our family reunion at Oshea’s kitchen, it was awesome, food was great, everything was on point. Finger licking good food. Wish we could have another reunion soon, vibe was right, beach superb and staff was so friendly yet professional.

The Zaca Bar is hands down my favorite spot to spend a Saturday night! I recently went for their open mic night, and the experience was incredible. The drinks were spot on, and the food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done. But what really sets The Zaca apart is the atmosphere. Being right by the sea at night, enjoying the cool breeze and the breathtaking view of the ocean, is pure magic. It’s such a perfect way to unwind and soak in the beauty of life. I’m definitely making this my regular Saturday night hangout! Highly recommend.

So I went there on my birthday the service was so pour order before I came I had to sit 2hours before my food come 44 minutes for my appitezer my baby food came first we order drink and it never come the poor girl they have drilling up and down the stair I had to stop till she take over our table am so disappointed because it was my birthday and on top of it I had to pay 10% service charge for what sitting there with no one to attend to us the girl sit in the bar hold time on her phone she not even take the time to ask if we are ok I think you all need to hire people with experience and not just person with certification cause the don’t know ntn i wont recommend no one there tumps up to chief the food was good but the service make it bitter and spend like 29435 for nothing I had to even take my cake home without it even cut

Two stars because they usually have good Patties, but: you can choose between veggie, cheese, chicken, beef, shrimp patty. We ordered two cheese patties and one beef patty. What we got was three beef patties. When we told them we ordered two cheese patties and only beef patty, we got told all cheese patties come with beef. Since when??? No customer service.

Inside is way too warm. Can't they afford a good air conditioning system for all these dedicated customers? Come on Juici, you can do better than this. Many are complaining about the temperature.

Drive through customer service needs improvement, I had to ask the cashier if she was in a rush, I wanted to upgrade to a large soup one day she told me it was done and it wasn't, the 2nd day she told me it was difficult to do, the 3rd day she mixed up the order. What's most distracting is while they're making your change they're on the headset taking another order

I buy regularly from this Juici location and I don't have an issue. Due to what I order I have to call beforehand to find out if it's available and they answer the phone 85% of the time which is great compared to many businesses in Jamaica. If what I want is not there when I call they will prepare it if I ask. The environment is clean, the staff is friendly and professional.

Can you imagine having lunch with this view??? I drove 2hrs & 30mins for the food and the scenery. Steamed fish was freshly caught and the seafood soup was so good, I had to get some to go. Add Carby’s Sportsbar to your next Portland’s itinerary, you will love it!

Tried to give this establishment a second chance after a very bad first impression.. but they have not managed to make a better impression. Bad customer service & bad food much better places along the long bay stretch.

Food was affordable and most of all the meals was delicious,mouth-watering appealing nice and tasty. Satisfaction was the second most popular choice to describe the great customer service at carby's sportbar & grill.👍

I order 2 beef burgers and chips. My son and grandma say it's better than K.F.C. The chips was hot even when reach my location. Definitely coming back

This is a wonderful family run restaurant directly on the beach along the east harbour of Port Antonio close to the Folly Ruins. The restaurant has a nice selection of vegan food along with fresh seafood dishes. I had a vegetarian plate and Ital stew along with a soursop juice. All the items were fresh and delicious and prepared to order. The server/manager Chase was courteous and professional. There is limited parking available right in front of the restaurant. The view of the harbour from the back of the restaurant is spectacular. The ambience of the restaurant was casual, calm and comfortable. The portion size of my meal was generous and the cost reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to those who enjoy fresh, healthy and authentically Jamaican cuisine.

I was in Port Antonio looking for a place to eat and found this place with great vegan options, I had no cash on me that night but next day I went back there to try their food and it was definitely one of the best I tried. Food was amazing, nice vibes, welcoming people and nice beach view. Recommend it 100%.

Having Oliver prepare a meal for us and hanging chatting at Survival Beach was one of the best experiences of our trip. The food is fresh, balanced, and prepared with pride. We went back twice we loved it so much. You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not check it out!

Everytime when i come to Hope Bay , to visit friends in Swift River, first stop is Oasis Sports Bar... nice bar with friendly staff ... very clean !! Good prices!! Nice Cocktails.... greetings from Austria !!!

Very peaceful atmosphere 😌 right on the sea side. The restaurant is very quaint and rustic. Mr Cover is very warm and welcoming and to top it off the food is amazing! I had the roast fish with sweet potatoes and it was chef's kiss. I highly recommend 👌

Stopped there on my way to Kingston just to grab a drink. I found Covers to be quaint, cosy and romantic. I plan to stop longer on my next trip to Portland and have a meal as well.

BEST PLACE TO GO!! If you want to get one of the best jerk chicken, pork and lobster, with amazing music and good vibes Cover's bar & Grill is the spot!!! The owner and his sons were exceptional 👏🏽 👌🏽 they were so friendly and welcoming, they put their heart and soul into the food making it begin the best jerk food we've ever gotten in a long time..Honestly I don't know what else to say than just GO THERE YOURSELF AND I PROMISE YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.. Not even Boston jerk centre is no where close to Cover's Bar & Grill.. This will definitely be my first stop when I'm heading back to Portland

I highly recommend this place for a peaceful and friendly atmosphere. Delicious Jerk chicken/pork, steamed fish and bread fruit cooked in the embers of the fire pit. Good music and hammocks overlooking the sea.

The atmosphere is calming while also being in the middle of busy Port Antonio. The vegan patties are filling and the lunch specials are tasty with creative additions. Raw meals, fruit smoothies & fire jackfruit ice cream, Vegan! Also, massage services and bulk superfoods, spices & herbal teas on the other side. The owners and everyone who works there are helpful & inviting

The whole menu is legit—I really love the soups and patties best (options includes lentils, chickpeas, pumpkin and more). The soups have body and spicy flavor. I also love that on the other side you can purchase all kinds of natural protein, herbs and oats/bulgar/etc. Plus the place has a great view and is breezy even on a hot day.

Delicious... eating patties as I'm writing this. Pumpkin was delicious & so is Lentil. The shell of the patty is Fabulous, guessing it's a wheat/grain. The lentil stew is also very delicious. Yes! I found two spots now for veg in Portie. I really enjoyed this one, great place to check out, next door is an herbal place.

There was a power cut but that made it a real candlelight experience. Bruschetta was really good. Caesar salad was ok. Salmon dish with veg excellent. Beef lasagna too much salt and mangled. I'd go back to try more things on the menu.

Chef is Italian and makes delicious food. Reasonably priced in an elegant setting. Beautiful views surround the restaurant. Quiet and romantic, but also for families.

Local dishes lack deep Jamaican flavor. Loud music blasted at the outside dining area. But the server was quite pleasant
