Loved our visit to Agrarian Kitchen. The Garden Tour was fantastic and well worth doing. Thank you to our wonderful guide, originally from Brazil, for sharing so many interesting insights about the garden. I can see how much passion he had for his work! We all left feeling very inspired to cultivate our own garden and start composting. The food at the kiosk was delicious, especially the cherry sauce. I only wish we had made a booking at the restaurant! Next time!

Spent an enjoyable afternoon in the grounds and restaurant of this lovely regional foodie complex, which includes a cafe and cookery classes. The set menu provided some interesting flavours, with the bread, cherry/elderflower pannacotta and pork, celeriac + mustard the standout dishes. Staff were knowledgeable and efficient.

Such a special experience! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the team and walked through the garden and enjoyed our first course and a wine in the greenhouse before making our way back to the main dining room. Huge shout out to David, our waiter who took care of us - exceptional service and very friendly and to Sam our new chef friend! Thanks Team, will be back on our next Tassie trip!

Dining at The Agrarian Kitchen is more than just a meal, it is a beautifully curated experience. Housed in a thoughtfully restored old asylum, the setting is rich with character and surrounded by stunning gardens. It is peaceful, immersive, and absolutely worth the drive out from Hobart. You will want to allow at least three hours. The degustation is generous, relaxed, and filled with so many thoughtful little surprises. I will not spoil them here, but trust me, they are part of what makes it so special. The menu is built around produce grown on-site and sourced from nearby, celebrating the best of what is in season and sometimes daily changes. We had the wine pairing, which was seamless and elevated the meal beautifully. My business partner chose the non-alcoholic pairing, and I have to say, it was a standout in its own right. Not only does The Agrarian Kitchen offer a non-alcoholic beverage pairing, which is rare enough, but it is entirely made in house by Beverage Manager Alex Keene. These drinks feature house made syrups and fermented concoctions using foraged and homegrown ingredients, crafted with just as much care and creativity as the wine. Each was completely unique, and I ended up trying every one. All were impressive and absolutely delicious. You can also order individual non-alcoholic drinks separately, which is a great option for those who do not want the full pairing. The whole experience, from the warm and genuine service to the attention to detail in every course, makes this one of the most memorable dining experiences I have had. A true Tasmanian gem that delivers both substance and soul.

Flawless - totally lives up to the hype! We had the best day out at The Agrarian Kitchen. We started with the garden tour, had a coffee then did the asylum tour. We concluded with the magnificent degustation. Laura and Amy took amazing care of us. The food is exception and the atmosphere perfect. I was particularly impressed with the alcohol free flight option. We will definately be back!

I loved my experience at Agrarian Kitchen. Was lucky with amazing winter weather & sitting outside on the lawn. Did the garden tour and the gardener(brazilian fella) did a great job answering questions etc. nice food. Definitely worth a drive👌🏽

A delicious tasting menu that celebrated the most humble of fresh, seasonal and local produce in wonderfully confident, thoughtful and elegant ways. Complex simplicity at its very best -- Bravo chefs! Service was very kind, immersive and charming and the vibe of the venue was light, expansive and open. My one criticism, you can taste the rusty pipes in the still water, which is not great. Cannot wait to go back!

This is Australia's oldest continuously licensed pub. A good claim to fame as it is near Hobart, Australia's second oldest city. It is an interesting building. And the dining room is cool. The lunch we had there today was well presented and my steak was cooked as requested. As a drive from Hobart or if you are heading to or from the valley it is worth a stop.

We stopped in here for lunch and everything was AMAZING The food was next level, absolutely delicious and everything was seasoned to perfection - definitely not your average pub meal. Good sizing for price too (both very full after just ordering mains!) The service was also 10/10. Very friendly and attentive and helped us figure out how much to order. Would recommend to everyone who comes through! (We had the cauliflower and a ribeye)

Part of meal was burnt. Compensation? Female manager offered to pass on feedback to chef. Crap service. Never again. UPDATE - Will from the Bush Inn sorted this almost immediately. Very pleased this establishment cares about its customers and rights misdemeanors with haste and respect. Deserves a second chance.. Cheers Will 🍻

Had dinner here last night. Absolutely delicious food. Highly recommend the Southern Fried Chicken burger 🤤 So much flavour! Excellent service. Friend said his Scotch Fillet was beautiful, best one his had. Amazing!

Our family went on a Sunday for a Birthday lunch. I can't believe how good it was. Service A1 and the food was outstanding. We were a party of 13 adults and 5 children , everyone raved about their meals. Considering the place was packed with probably 150 to 200 patrons they did a magnificent job. Do yourselves a favour and go there.

Last evening my daughter, grandson and I had a meal at this excellent old pub. Located overlooking the upper reach of the Derwent River, the pub has an outdoor eating area (Summertime) and roaring log fires in Winter. Excellent food, served hot and fresh by very pleasant and attentive staff. Not too expensive either and Guinness on tap.

We had a lovely lunch at the Bush Inn 6 people all enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere and great selection on the menu. The cauliflower Mediterranean was yust delicious . Definitely coming back. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

On our last night with travelling around Tasmania for the past 3 weeks we ended up in the quaint little town of New Norfolk. Lovely town. While wandering around our group of 4 came across the Shanghai Restaurant and decided to go in. It presented very nicely and we sat down and order chicken and sweet corn soup for entree. It was nice but nothing out of the ordinary. For mains we ordered special fried rice, satay chicken, beef strips in garlic and ginger sauce and combination chow main. The food was exquisite especially the beef in garlic and ginger. Large portion. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Enjoy Shanghai is probably the best Chinese restaurant this side of the Derwent. eat in or take away is always delicious ,we have been customers for about 8 years now and have yet to be disappointed with our choices from the vast menu .We recommend this venue for lunch or just a quiet dinner in the comfortable seating of the restaurant.

Have always had a nice meal. The duck is usually especially nice. Their give a reasonable serve of vegetables too with their meals that have them. BYO. The serves are average. As you can see this is a decent serve of chicken and chips.

Love this place, food is just so beautiful. The people there are lovely and service is great. Worth every cent. Would go more often, but it's nice to be a special time.

The quirky feel of the store made you feel like eating in a 50's era Cafe. The melamine tables and old style metal chairs added to the authenticity. The coffee was very good as was the soup and Nachos we ordered. Very well priced.

It was certainly an experience 😁😁😁 . The elderly couple that own and run it are very sweet. Beautiful grounds. Good beds. Very very old fashioned and old style accommodation. We didn't have dinner here but it smelt fantastic!! Very quaint. More suited to an older generation. The history on the house is interesting.

Amazing experience, my daughter booked so I wasn't sure what I was in for but I soon felt at home. The owners looked after our every request going above and beyond to make it the best experience with a home made cheese platter ordered at the last second and a bottle of wine on the verandah. Very clean very friendly and such a pretty grounds for those that like to take a walk. Thanks, so much

What a wonderful place to stay. Especially if you are interested in beautiful old houses, Tynwald is 200 yrs old. The interior is just as it was then, so very interesting inside and out in the gardens. The owners are both chefs, we didn't have an evening meal in their restaurant but if breakfast was anything to go by then I'm sure dinner would be wonderful too.

Real trip back in time. Beautiful experience, really clean and lovely place. Gary and Pam are incredibly welcoming and great for a chat. Food was great, especially the desserts! Thank you again, would recommend staying here to everyone I know.

Stayed at this establishment a few years ago and me and my family are always reminiscing on the beautiful stay we had. such magical mornings, waking up to the sun-rise on the balcony peaking through the trees. Very comfortable sleep and a beautiful and relaxing environment. We will absolutely be returning soon! Cannot wait for COVID to end to come back!

The building was lovely and took you back in time, lots of character. Had a nice breakfast. The only negative I have is check out was at 10am however, the lady that runs the hotel came into our room at around 9:45am and began stripping the beds whilst we were packing up the rest of our things. It kinda reminded me of staying at my grandmas place. We felt rushed and pushed out the door in a hurry. I understand that they had more guests arriving later however I thought that was unprofessional and unwelcoming. I think they’ve been there too long working hard and are due for a holiday.

The place is lovely, I’m really impressed with the designs and the decorations inside, very unique that you can rarely find anywhere else, like an escape from the city. Pat and Gary are so friendly and welcoming, love their cookings as well :) The rooms are great with the veranda looking over the garden full of flowers and a very good view of the mountains. I love the Tynwald park in front of the hotel too... We will definitely come back here again!👍🏻

Lovely old style crepe pancakes available with a variety of fillings, but you only get one. After your meal go for a walk around the Ponds and feed the salmon. Bring a picnic instead and enjoy the ambiance. They also have a museum with fishing memorabilia.

The highlight of this restaurant is their pancakes, which were quite good. Despite its location near the trout pond, the food doesn’t seem related, which was a bit misleading based on the name. However, overall, the food was okay and the service was satisfactory.

Can't recommend, an amateur operation. The salmon patties were out of a pack, the so-called salad was largely a pile of uncut, undressed leafy vegetables, also out of a pack. Twenty dollars seemed expensive considering how poor an effort it was.

Such a pretty place by the ponds. Nice, friendly service, food was pretty good. Flat white was a smaller serve than normal. Savoury pancakes ok, but not a lot of flavour, could use more filling. Hamburger to was good. Will I go back?......yep!

Nice waiting staff. Unfortunately that's where the 'nice' ends. Waited over 45 minutes for a bowl of wedges and a chicken snitzel with chips. My son had a hair in the crumb of his snitzel and was argued with by the owner that I wasn't getting a refund (he ate 1/4 of the chicken and no chips) I argued that I wanted a refund and was told he gets his chicken already crumbed so it's his suppliers fault. Argued again and was offered half a refund. Terrible food, terrible management

Great venue, and service from bar staff. As usual, I ordered a chicken Parmi, and was happy with my meal. The pricing was also very reasonable. We don't visit New Norfolk often, but will certainly stop in here again when up that way.

We were looking for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Firstly, what a great reception, a friendly waitress with a welcoming smile. Prices were good. Both of us had the schnitzel and it was incredible! Value for money! We will be back.

Dropped in for a quiet Friday Lunch. We both had excellent dishes and a bottle of wine at a very good price. Will definitively come back. No photos of the meal, but both our plates were very clean at the end.

I haven’t stayed in the rooms yet, but I do go here quite often for Lunch, Tea, play pool and play the pokies with friends and my partner. Staff are always friendly and up for a chat and the food is always delicious, the rissoles are my favourite and go to meal every time! The parmies are always a hit and the seafood is always spot on, there’s honestly nothing on this menu that won’t hit the spot!

I skipped lunch, walked in a ordered the lamb shank! Filled me up and was the best one I have had yet! Meal was quick and service by the lady at the bar was on point! I will be back! 🍻

Had the Seafood selection which is the very best I have ever had. Amazing product cooked superbly and in incredibly generous quantities. Will be a regular customer for sure and congrats on the new renewed look. Pre ordered but was a delay getting it cooked. They apologised and upgraded our garlic pizza and gave us an extra bottle of cordial for no charge. Pizza was tasty and full of toppings. They may be a bit slow but they are very popular for good reason

Delicious pizzas, need more workers/ more experienced workers as they usually take half hour to an hour to finally answer their phone even when not overly busy. Been into their shop a few times and most times the phone is just left ringing.

Had the Aussie pizza tonight and was completely underwhelmed. Base was dense, base sauce tasted like it was just tomato paste and the toppings although generous had no flavour at all. Will not be going back.

The restaurant is OK. It is nice and pleasant. The service also good. However I was very disappointed with a pizza which meant to be with chicken. The chicken was some processed chicken bologna or ham or some roll. It wasn't a real chicken meat, roasted as it should be. And that really turned me off. So I would never go back to that place. But that was many years ago and maybe now th the quality is good. I would still recommend this place, but with caution.

Pizza is good but home delivery very slow, usually over an hour. And people, a margarita pizza is made with tomato, mozzarella and BASIL NOT OREGANO. Suggest they google their recipes. Jump to 2019. 2 years after the top review, I receive a rather passive aggressive email from the manager stating that they make margarita pizzas that way because they like to be different. Huh???? Hmmm, I must have hit a nerve. I wonder how they make Hawaiian pizzas, onion, chili and peperoni?? A RECIPE IS A RECIPE. Glad we don't eat there anymore.

We had a Bushranger pizza last week. The topping was tasty but the base was not cooked through and soggy. Very dissapointing!

I bought a combination fried rice supposedly with chicken fillets, beef fillets, king prawns carrot and broccoli…. Well there is absolutely no meat in this at all of any sort. It is nothing but stodgy rice with a bit of carrot and a few bits of broccoli. If it was not so far to go back I would have returned the meal and demanded a refund.

Really delicious and very surprised. I had Combination Fried Rice and Sweet and Sour Pork. It was fresh, cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious, definitely recommend if stopping in New Norfolk 😊

One of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever been to. Had the duck soup to start, which was the most flavourful soup. Also ordered the Chilli Herb Chicken, Duck with Mushroom and Combination Fried Rice. Everything was so good and very reasonably priced. The owners were so lovely and welcoming. I'll honestly dream about that soup after we leave Tassie. Will definitely be back on our next trip!

Terrible. Not sure what has changed, either new owner or the old owner has made a fatal business decision. A couple of months ago it was the best big prices of fish with crispy light batter and great chips. Today it was small chewy fish with the thinest layer of soggy batter possible and a mediocre portion of average chips. I was so excited to eat there food again and it has left me disappointed. I will never go back. Only reason I would want to go back is to take a dump in the deep fryer, it could only improve the food.

Freshly seafood and freshly cooked. No hotbox soggy food. Crisp batter,breadcrumbs or grilled. Environmentally friendly cardboard packaging. Also local jams etc available. Great service! :-)

Fish & chips made to order, no bain-marie here. Chips are big & thick & fish can be crumbed or battered. Limited trading hours.

Phenomenal spot! We arrived at around 7pm, 4 of us, no booking at all and there were two large tables of people but the owner was happy to chat with us and we were seated immediately. The space is beautifully decorated with local arts and crafts and lots of natural wood that makes it warm and inviting. Prices were affordable and the food was fantastic and we didn't have to wait long for our delicious meals. Overall it was an absolutely delightful experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

I loved this place so much I gave every single staff member a tip. (4 people) 1. I could see, smell and taste the garlic on the garlic bread. You would be amazed the amount of times I can't! 2. The salmon (hmmmm...could have been ocean trout) was cooked medium....for the first time in about 5 salmon meals in Tasmania! 3. The veggies were really good...in my opinion, the best so far. 4. It was BYO so I could take my own 2016 Taylor's Reserve Shiraz. I am a fussy Red wine only drinker and have not seen one bottle of Taylor's or Peter Lehman anywhere yet on my travels. The wines in my opinion have been severely lacking. 5. The cost for meals was pretty much the same as the Pubs I have frequented throughout Tassie, but it was far superior. WHY IS THIS PLACE NOT PACKED EVERY NIGHT?!

We had talked about coming here for a long time so decided to give it a try. We'd previously had an abysmal breakfast in this location, but we assumed owners had changed (I still assume this is true). Upon arrival we were given menus. In our discussion over what we liked the look of, we realised they were DIFFERENT. Mine had two vegetarian options, my wife's had a sole dessert (creme brulee). The prices were also different but it was only at the last minute that we realised the fillet mignon had Bearnaise sauce on my menu and not hers. So when we ordered we asked about the sauce, the waitress first said it did come with that, then that this was only on the old menu and she would let us know if it came with it, or ask the chef (who is new) to make me one. She did not return. Our starters were crumbed mushrooms and croquettes. They were quite nice, we definitely enjoyed the first course. The meals came, and there was no Bearnaise sauce, a fact that would certainly have led me to change my order if I had been told. I had asked for the steak to be on the rare side of medium rare, which was good, as it was barely medium rare, and still reasonable, if a bit disappointing without the promised sauce. My wife ordered pork belly with scallops and chicken skin. We were told there were no scallops, but in the end there were. They did not appear to be cooked. The chicken skin took the form of a dust on the plate. The pork belly itself was passable, but far from great. My wife had to cut it with my steak knife. She did not finish it. She also ordered the vegetables and I ordered the chips and salad, so we could share. She got asparagus and zucchini, char grilled. The zucchini was nice, and I'd have had some asparagus, if I had Bearnaise sauce to put on it. Her potatoes were described as 'crispy' but they were in fact soft and unappetizing. My salad was quite reasonable and the chips were actually very nice. We shared the chips, given how bad the potatoes were. As we knew the only dessert on offer was Creme Brulee, we did not stay for dessert. Had they only shown us the current menu, i would have ordered differently and we may have ended up feeling closer to 3 stars about this place. As it was, it was reasonably disappointing, given the price point. New Norfolk has an excellent pub that would have only been marginally cheaper, but would definitely have provided a nicer meal.

Had the share platter tonight with my mum. Oh my goodness, talk about divine. Highly recommended. Great food and great prices. The staff also help make it a night to remember.

Very rude lady. I ordered three flathead and chips, but when I was putting sauce on, I realized one flathead was missing. I went back to let them know and was going to ask if I could get a small flake instead since it was the same price. Before even listening properly, they started cooking another flathead. By this time, I had already waited 10-12 minutes, and I didn’t want to wait any longer because my child was getting unsettled in the car. When I tried to ask for the flake instead, the lady just kept saying, “No, no!” over and over. At least the man there understood and gave me the flake. Definitely not coming back.

The food here was delicious, though, I am not sure if there was something wrong with it. I ate approximately 13.5 kilograms of kebabs, various types, and after doing so, i must admit i felt quite sick. After eating 3 family meals my stomach felt a bit better. I still wasn't full though, so maybe they need some more filling food.

i went there and there's a big guy working he ate my chips to "make sure" they weren't bad. He also took a bite out of my chicken nuggets. his name is Daniel hes massive he needs to be fired as this breaches so many health violations.. I'm very disappointed in this place. heard it was nice and the guy working is over weight must eat a lot of his own product

Chips were soggy and weren't fully cooked, gravy was nice. Chicken burger just didnt really taste like anything. Service was quick and staff nice enough.

I had never given this place a thought until i drove past a few days ago and felt the need for food and coffee. Walking in it is spacious, well laid out with covid safe distancing. First of all the staff are excellent and really friendly, the food is amazing! The fish, potato cakes and burgers are all fresh and made in house. The coffee is smooth and hot. Would recommend for a lunch snack! ☺

The same roll I purchased lastnight was $5 more today because avocado is extra and beetroot is extra if you don't have meat 🤯 Worst subway ever...salad items are often rotten so please look before you order.

We were served by Jess! Very rude and disrespectful! Everything was such an effort for her. Customer service is definitely not her strong point. Maybe some training or not putting her in front of house may be in order.

We had Jess serving us today and I was absolutely disgusted. My son was answering all of her questions in a timely manner and she was so rude to him. He's 12 and he kept looking at me like what did I do wrong. Her behaviour was shocking. She was acting as though there were customers waiting but we were the only people in there. Do not go here unless you're starving to death.

Food isn't fresh... The price changes daily for some reason... I won't buy subway again because this New Norfolk shop is a failure... Shop elsewhere in my opinion...

They forgot my bacon. I asked for bacon. They always forget it. I need bacon because who wants a garlic aioli sandwich with pickles by itself. Stop being stupid and grow up. They should paid less for this. It is honestly hideous. I’m mortified.

Tonight my partner and I were served by such a kind girl (Beks)? her customer service was amazing. Previously before us a customer had ordered around 5 or so subs and she smashed them out by herself so quick and patiently, keeping in mind she was in the shop by herself no other colleague that I could see. I just want to say how professional she was in this situation and the way she held herself together. She deserves some type of acknowledgement for this amazing work. Plus her subs were the best we have had for a while. Prompts to her Keep up the great work! :)

I came in today to grab some lunch and the girl (Tash) who served me was awful. She was extremely rude. The manager witnessed this and cringed but didn't appear to have said anything to her. Such a shame, the rest of the team that work here are really nice but i won't be back if she's working.

Was looking forward to what sounded like great food but was very underwhelmed. The drunken Noodles we dry and tasted reheated and also has chilli in case you're allergic. The beef rendang was a 1/4 portion but not bad flavours.

New fried chicken joint in New Norfolk at last! Chicken was fresh, hot and juicy. However needs seasoning and more flavours. (Ordered the spicy chicken, could not tell it was spicy unless sweet chilli sauce on the side is what makes it spicy?) Chips were cooked in oil that wasn’t quite hot enough. Ended up airfrying them to drain the oil and crisp them up. Place is brand new and very promising. I hope to see them grow and flourish. Looking forward to going back and trying the chicken burger next time. Edit: 22/11/24 Went back to try the chicken burgers and the mash potato+gravy. Was a busy Friday night, owner was doing really well for how busy it was! Chicken is really juicy and flavoursome now with a new batter. Chips were crispy and mash+gravy was filling. Highly recommend.

We ordered from here for the first time tonight and couldn’t be happier. The staff were lovely and our food arrived nice and quickly. My partner and I both really enjoyed our meals – we got the southern chicken burger with chips and it was delicious. Definitely keen to order again!

Ordered the chicken strips, $7 for 3 massive, crispy strips. Was absolutely delicious, will definitely go back again. Much better than the other options we have in New Norfolk and cheaper too.

Had the vegan Thai Pad for lunch. What an amazing authentic Thai dish, just the right amount of heat from the chili (on the side, in a separate container). Thank you for bringing your culture to New Norfolk 🙏❤️

I wish I could figure out a way to post a photo of our meal. My husband ordered a pad Thai and the prawns are literally black and off. The ladies who served us were lovely but the food is inedible for such a high price as well.

Pad tie king prawns. Prawns were rotten beyond belief how they could serve such garbage is madness. If this meal was consumed 100% would have been violently ill. Edit its not a scam ill be taking said meal into council how dare you serve such garbage.

Literally will not be buying pizza anywhere else. Absolutely 10/10- and that dough! 🤌🤌

I preordered a large number of pizzas for my birthday. The staff were very helpful with pizza suggestions and many people commented how great the pizzas were. Would highly recommend. ☺️

Wow we called in here today as we were going to the car show we have heard many good things about pantry on the park and I can now say the customer service is excellent the lady even gave us a couple of jam donuts to try after our beautiful bagels thankyou so much from the coffee to the bagel to the donuts all were beautiful and we were really happy to see our grand daughters colour in up on the wall it is so nice to see all the local produce too we will definitely visit again when in the area and we can now also recommend to others like they have done for us well done on your exceptional customer service and the food we wish you all the best in the future with your great shop 🍾
