Nature & Parks
City Park is a beloved destination in Launceston, offering a variety of attractions for visitors. The park features well-maintained lawns, gardens with large English trees and flower beds, and accessible pathways. Notable highlights include a giant chess set, the John Hart Conservatory, and a children's playground suitable for different age groups. Visitors can also enjoy the duck pond and observe Japanese Macaque monkeys at 'Monkey Island.'
Absolutely gorgeous little park. It is so well maintained and the gardens and trees are beautiful. The monkeys were added bonus not expected. So definitely stop by for a visit to relax or eat lunch in splendid surroundings

Normal park..good for walk..haven't seen Monkey ;) its huge and can park outside for 2 hours.. for visitors nothing special
Saima K — Google review
I wish I'd had more time to spend here. It was beautiful. I particularly liked the Sensory Garden. I was there between rain showers and it smelt beautiful. City Park is easily within walking distance of the centre of Launceston, we walked here with coffee. The Japanese Macaques are fun to watch. If you want to go somewhere to spend a few minutes this is a good place they will amuse adults and children alike.
BlueBelle's E — Google review
The park is quite big. With the exception of the Japanese snow monkeys, there was not a lot to see. Very little plants and flowers, altho it is winter.
Cindy C — Google review

The Queen Victoria Art Gallery at Royal Park is Australia's largest regional museum, featuring a diverse range of exhibits. Visitors can explore a planetarium, colonial art collection, blacksmith shop, and an ongoing exhibition on the extinct Tasmanian tiger. The gallery showcases life art of Tasmania's first peoples, works by artists from around the world, as well as pieces by local school children and community artists. One unique highlight is the Chinese Guandi Temple that has been relocated to the gallery.
Superb gallery & a credit to Launceston. We just visited the Michael McWilliams exhibition, very fortunate to see so many of his beautiful and amazing artworks together. Thank you to QVMAG & all who made this happen.
Marcie B — Google review
Great showcase of local artists and Indigenous history. Extensive section dedicated to Indigenous crafts and way of living. Also a Chinese temple on site from the tin mining days. During our visit they featured the hyperreal works by Sam Jinks which were heart wrenching and eerie. Parking can be tricky around the area, but there are some spots across from the gallery.
Jay — Google review
Really enjoyed our visit to the QVMAG on Sunday morning. Not only did we enjoy the two Exhibitions, but we also found some interesting information regarding a book I purchased many years ago that came from the Kaw Family who ran a Shop in St John's Street, Launceston.
Bob W — Google review
Great art gallery with really good and interesting exhibitions. At the time I was there, they had Sam Jinks and Helen Wright. Highly recommend!
Joshua T — Google review
Travelled Especially from Hobart to visit the Michael McWilliams exhibition, it was amazing and unforgettable Also down stairs the Queen Victoria Gallery had another exhibition on Tasmanian Indigenous people it was excellent as well
Helen B — Google review
We recently spent 5 days in Hobart. After seeing that the QVMAG had Michael McWilliams’ collection on display, we made a day trip to Launceston just to see it. Whilst we didn’t have time to see everything, what we did see and experience was excellent and definitely worth the drive. Looking forward to a longer visit next time!
Amy M — Google review
The Queen Victoria Art Gallery in Launceston put together something truly special with Gentle Protagonist: Art of Michael McWilliams, which ran until March 23rd. McWilliams has spent decades creating detailed paintings that tell a story while reflecting on Tasmania’s changing environment. Was breathtaking The exhibition featured a salon-style wall, an eye-catching display packed with his works, showcasing how his intricate paintings build upon one another. Bringing together 100 paintings from private collections across Australia, it was a rare chance to see them all in one place. His work, filled with native wildlife and introduced species, invited people to think about how human activity has shaped nature over time. A lot of effort went into tracking down these scattered pieces and arranging them into a clear journey through 34 years of his art. Each painting had a story, and together they highlighted how McWilliams’ style evolved. For those who couldn’t visit in person, there was an interactive virtual tour, and the good news is that a companion book featuring his work will be available soon. While the exhibition may be over, its impact lingers—whether through its thought-provoking themes or the sheer beauty of McWilliams’ paintings. If you missed it, the upcoming book is a great way to experience his artistry.
Stuart A — Google review
A great local art gallery highlighting a diversity of work from artists all around Australia. For me, the standouts were them highlighting local young talents and giving them a platform With no entrance fee and a welcoming environment, I'd encourage everyone to pop in and take an afternoon to embrace what this place has to offer. Donate if you can to support places like this; we need more of them

The National Automobile Museum of Tasmania is a must-visit for car and motorcycle enthusiasts. Located near the North Esk River, this museum showcases an impressive collection of classic cars, including well-preserved Porsches, Bugattis, a 1969 Fiat Spider, and a Ford Mustang from the same year.
Great museum for motoring enthusiasts. Last time I visited was in the late 90’s as a child when living in Tassie. Was great coming back (albeit a different location) as an adult last Wednesday morning when holidaying in Tassie . If I wasn’t with a restless 2 year old, I would have spent much longer looking at each display. Top picks for me were the Tasman Bridge Monaro, black 48-215 Holden and the maroon MKII Jaguar 3.8. Entry price was reasonable for the size of display, everything was well presented and the gift store had plenty to offer, especially for diecast collectors like myself - was happy to head home with an item missing from my collection. Will be keeping an eye out on your website/facebook for future Diecast purchases! Three different staff were present when I visited, all were friendly and helpful. Hopefully my next visit won’t take me 25 odd years to come back to Launceston!
Codie F — Google review
A cool little spot in Launceston for the car lover. Each car has it own story and description associated to it. There is definitely some special and one of a kind cars in the showroom. There is also a gift shop at the front of the museum which has lots of different memorabilia and car based trinkets. Entry is $20 for an adult. Ample parking at the front of the museum.
Mitchell D — Google review
Amazing display of historic cars and bikes. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit for any pistonhead.
Jim W — Google review
Awesome stop while in Launceston! Beautiful cars on display to view! Gift shop & where you can press your own car coin. Lots of info about the cars on display & beautiful pieces of history!
Chelsea O — Google review
A tremendous cross-section of motoring history including a 1951 Vincent 'Black Shadow' motorbike; 1960s GT 500 Lotus Ford Cortina; 1956 Lotus 11 sports car; XY and XR GT Falcons, XU1 Torana and several classic Holden Monaros, and much, much more. A car lovers delight!
David E — Google review
Great little museum! Cars and music in absolutely stunning condition with interesting information boards about the exhibits. Spotlessly clean and bright. Very informative and enjoyable!
Patrick J — Google review
Definitely worth visiting, great collection & variety of cars
Ray P — Google review
Cool museum with great ecclectic collection of cars and motorcycles. Judging by the older reviews and pictures, it seems like the inventory displayed is rotating, so that's excellent! Easy parking, friendly staff, great shop too! And when you're done, cross the street and bring the family over to the kids park or a good coffee.

Cataract Gorge Reserve, First Basin is a sprawling 5km urban reserve featuring a mix of bushland and cliffs. It offers an array of walking trails suitable for visitors of all skill levels. Situated just a short 15-minute stroll from the city center, this natural oasis runs alongside the picturesque North Esk River.
Longest single gondala ride - beautiful reserve. We saw wallaby and peacocks.
Jenny M — Google review
After visiting for twenty years we were dismayed to find we had incurred an infringement notice. Apparently we had parked in an oversized parking space (a car had just pulled out of it). I suspect we were not the only ones to do this (to see the look of shock on a few other faces). It was particularly busy an there were vehicles moving all around and we honestly did not see a warning notice. So, although we thought we were doing the right thing by paying our dues as usual, we had failed! The fine is over $100 which takes a lot of paying on a pension. I hope this advisement saves someone from suffering the same fate!

The James Boag Brewery, located in Launceston, has a rich history dating back to 1881. The brewery offers guided tours of its facilities, providing insight into the brewing process and the brand's fascinating history. We had an amazing tour on the Monday just gone at 11am. We had an awesome tour guide who was so knowledgeable and you could see she genuinely loves her job! It was so good to try the beers at the end of the tour, they were beautiful!!

Must Visit! 🍻 Loved this tour! add this to your Tasmanian bucket list immediately. The James Boag Brewery tour in Launceston is 100% worth your time. You get the story of how James Boag went from “beer dreamer” to local legend, plus a walk around the brewery itself. It’s kid-friendly with interactive bits, and at the end, you get to taste 3 fresh beers. Totally recommend. 5 ⭐️. Cheers!

I am unable to provide much insight regarding a guided tour, as I did not participate in one. However, the provided description was quite helpful and sufficient for a self-guided experience. It is a wonderful location with excellent beer, where one can enjoy spending several hours with friends.
Shubham N — Google review
Highly recommended the tour. We really enjoyed the fascinating tour of the whole brewing process along with the rich history and pride taken in this amazing facility. Friendly waves from workers as we walked through made us feel welcome. Our tour guide , Jess , was being mentored by Bec and they were both excellent in delivering a positive enjoyable experience. Jess, while new to the tour guide role was completely competent, confident and embraced the task with a smile and good sense of humour and in the tasting session at the completion of the tour she shone with her knowledge and fine sense of taste explaining the intricacies of various Boags beers 🍺 Thank you Jess and Bec , both passionate Boags Ambassadors 😁
Glen R — Google review
Excellent experience touring the Boags Brewery in Launceston. You are shown the workings of the Brewery, the history of Boags Brewery including a wonderful story of heroism from the past, the whole process of their brewing process and of course, a chance to dabble in a paddle of their finest brews.
Normandy J — Google review
140 year old brewery with tap room, as well as tours. $45 per adult for the tour. Their main hospitality area is currently under renovation, but there is still a small bar and merchandise store open. Classic range of beers available as a tasting paddle (4 beers for $20). Take home packs or slabs available for purchase. Only food is chip packets, no hot food available. Staff were very welcoming and very knowledgable on the history of the brewery.
Georgia D — Google review
We had a great experience on the 3pm James Boag's Brewery Tour yesterday. Our guide, Ashley, was outstanding, she struck the perfect balance between making the tour educational and keeping it fun and engaging. Her knowledge, passion, and sense of humour made the whole experience memorable. Ashley is a real asset to Boag's. The included tasting afterwards was the perfect way to finish. All the beers we tried were great, and we especially loved being able to sample a few that aren’t available anywhere else. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Launceston whether you're a beer lover or just curious, it's well worth it! 🍻
Lee — Google review
Great experience, guide was so knowledgeable of the history of the brewery and also the city! Great way to get the kids involved with a map to find things around the brewery made it more fun for kids! Definitely a must if you come to Launceston and you enjoy great beer!

Amazing place to visit. Great staff. Fun time. Just overall amazing place that is sure to be a hit with the whole family. I've been here with my dad previously and this time with my son, and both enjoyed the whole place. Totally different age groups and both loved it. I will be back again with other visitors in the near future :)

A must do if you’re visiting Launceston or just passing through! Great fun for kids and adults alike. There are plenty of exciting activities like rock climbing, cliff walks, cliff jumps, and zip lines. The package deals are reasonably priced compared to other places. You can easily spend a full day here, but even half a day is worth it. Everything is well organised, and the staff are super friendly. Free parking is a bonus. We didn’t get to try the restaurant, but it looked nice. The only downside was that there’s no photo booth or way to get pictures of your activities – that would’ve been a great addition!

"Penny Royal Adventures in Launceston, Tasmania, offers thrilling experiences. Ride the 925m zipline, take a scenic gondola ride, or hike. Enjoy wine tastings and gourmet meals. Explore Rail Track Rides and Tree Top Walk. A must-visit for adventure-seekers and nature lovers."

A good adventure park, staff are really helpful and accommodating. My mate did a zip line through the mountain and she said it was great!! 😊

Parking was very lacking, and most of the activities you had to pay for. This place is mostly for children in my opinion. However it is really unique. We spent less than 10 minutes there as it was not I threshing for just adults.

We visited on a Sunday and was not crowded. The place is nestled by a stunning waterfall, Penny Royal Adventure offers a mix of excitement and relaxation. Experienced the adrenaline of cliff adventures, the mystery of the dark boat ride, and the challenge of rock climbing. After the fun, unwind at the cozy on-site restaurant The place has their own hotel also. A perfect getaway for all people with all ages. We all enjoyed well

One of the best adventure parks..there are activities for every age group in this place . Friendly staff and easy accessibility makes it a favourite one for families. Our kids enjoyed the zip line, cliff jump & cliff walk (bit scary where the nets are off)..picking up the right activities and packages will help you get best out of it. A cafe, restaurant and bar is situated inside which offers variety of items. A must visit in Launceston if you have kids..they will have a good time..

I enjoyed the Discovery Wine Tour immensely! Terry took great care of us (his fab 5!) and curated a great day visiting 4 of the best Tamar Valley wineries. Finished with new friends and a cellar full of delicious drops. Thanks for a fab time, see you in 2 years for the reunion tour

We had an amazing experience with TVWT, so well organized and Terry's knowledge was amazing with the vineyards, the history of them and Launceston & surrounds. As a local, I learnt so much and we take this for granted. Our friends who experienced it with us absolutely loved it. I would certainly recommend doing a tour with Terry and his team and get to eat great produce and drink amazing wines.
Mick A — Google review
Wow, this was the best wine tour I've been on. Terry picked me up from Grand Chancellor Hotel @ 11.00am. We did 4 wineries, Velo, Marion's, Moores Hill and Hinton Bay. These wouldn't be wineries that you would usually visit, but they were all amazing. The last one, Hinton Bay was by booking only and our hosts were amazing. The tasting was in their dining room, so unique and what an experience. Lunch was at Rosevears Hotel where we had a choice of about 6 dishes and a wine or beer. Terry was a wealth of knowledge about the area and wineries. Don't miss this tour if you like wine and your in the Launceston area.

We had the most amazing day with Tamar Valley Wine Tours! 🍷 From start to finish, everything was seamless — they were so easy to communicate and plan with, and really worked around our group to make the day perfect. The wineries were stunning, the food was beautiful, and the whole experience felt relaxed and well-organised. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day even more enjoyable. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Tasmania — an absolute must-do experience! 👏
Sinead T — Google review
The Tamar Valley Wine Tour was definitely the highlight of our Launceston trip. Terry was super friendly and gave great insights into each winery, the grapes, the owners, and the region. We felt really well looked after, and the group size of 10 was perfect. We loved every minute and came away with quite a few bottles - even some sweet wines I never thought I’d enjoy!
Michelle G — Google review
Exceptional value for money. Terry is amazing, kind and patient and his knowledge of the local vineyards is great. Velo wines was such a wonderful entry point with yummy wines and the lunch at Rosevears was gourmet. Travelling through the valley - without having to drive - gave me an appreciation of how beautiful this valley is when you're not focused on driving. I highly recommend Terry and his company. You get so much more than what you pay for - he needs to raise his rates!
Lisette C — Google review
What an incredible day with Tamar Valley Wine Tours! Our guide, Terry, was truly the guide with the mostest—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about creating a memorable experience. Terry took us to some absolutely remarkable vineyards, each with its own unique charm and flavour. His insight into the region and the wines added so much depth to the tour, even for those of us who aren’t wine experts. You could tell he genuinely cares about showcasing the best the Tamar Valley has to offer. Couldn’t recommend Terry and his team enough. Thanks for a fantastic day, Terry—we’ll be talking about this one for a long time!

A fantastic gallery and exhibition space for local designers and craftspeople to showcase their amazing creations. Some beautiful pieces on display and some for sale. It is inspiring to know there is such wonderfully talented people out there who can firstly imagine a design concept and then actually build the real thing with such incredible skill and precision. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely loved this gallery. It won't take you too long but they really have stunning pieces and they display them really well. The shop has beautiful things too (very dangerous!) and staff were adorable on both sides.

Brilliant place to visit displaying hand crafted furniture and craft items. Has a shop but brace yourself. Quality artisan work cost a bob or two. Right next to the city park as well. Free entry.

Beautiful, wooden pieces!! furniture for my future dream home*** there is a merchant side and a museum side. Museum cost $4-6, but free for local residents. Situated next to City Park, suitable for drop in when visiting Farmer market on Saturday.

Such a great feeling here! Loved the furniture on display and the general vibe. Will definitely be returning when Im in Launceston.

Some interesting wooden pieces on permanent display. With a small retail sales area. When we visited there was a 'cement' exhibit also running. This place is quite different to how I remember it. I'm sure there used to be a much wider range of locally made Tasmanian wood products for sale. Now it seems to be more focused on the exhibition side of thins.

With various options available including morning, lunch, and full-day cruises, there's something for everyone.
We went on this cruise on 3 Dec 2024 (couple) at 3:30pm It was well worth the time and low cost. We booked in advance. Duration 1 hour, went up the Estuary / Harbour, and then to the Cataract Falls. The Skipper was the guide, he was good - Thank you. There was recorded commentary filled in various places along the way. The Harbour was interesting and historic. The old Bridge was worth photos and the history. The Cataract Gorge was good to see and photograph. Yes, well worth the experience.

A beautiful, relaxing cruise was had this afternoon, thanks to Tamar River Cruises and Captain Johno and staff. Lots of interesting facts and stories were told. Lovely afternoon tea supplied. Weather was terrific, even if a little cool, but it didn't detract from a great experience.

I enjoyed the 50 minutes boat cruising in the Tamar river. The Captain 🧑‍✈️ of the boat was keen to impart the history of the town.Along the river, the view was stunning and the rock formations tell the story of the place, will recommend this to everyone who will visit to Launceston.

Such a stunning and informative cruise along the Tamar River. The guide delivers an in depth history of Launceston, some well-known historic figures of Launceston and other natural attractions and features, that will keep you engaged and amazed.

We did the one hour river cruise. Very informative and we saw a lot, learning the history of Launceston. We took our tour on November 11th @ 10:30. The most impressive part, for us, was the playing of the Last Post at 11:00 to honour those who served. Very classy. Would recommend this tour to family.

Highly recommend the afternoon 2.5 hour cruise. A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon but also a great way to see the river and especially the Gorge. All the staff we dealt with made the trip more enjoyable. I would recommend booking and, if you want to sit on the top deck, arriving early. The wine tasting was enjoyable as was the commentary.

Took the river cruise in late March recently. It wasn't full but a good size were on board. Enjoyed the whole experience. It went up Tamar river first before going to the Cataract Gorge. Got a complete view of the gorge from the river first and also from higher when we did the gorge walk later

I had a fantastic experience with Cataract Gorge Cruises on the Tamar River. It was a relaxing way to spend a summer afternoon, and the entire trip was a perfect blend of tranquility and scenic beauty. The atmosphere onboard was lovely, with a calm and peaceful vibe that allowed me to unwind and fully enjoy the surroundings. The river was serene, and the gentle flow of the water added to the sense of relaxation. The views along the way were stunning, with the natural beauty of the Cataract Gorge and the surrounding landscapes making it a memorable journey. The cruise staff were welcoming and attentive, ensuring everyone had a comfortable experience. Their knowledge about the area was impressive, and they shared interesting facts and stories about the history and wildlife of the region, adding an educational element to the trip. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this cruise is an excellent way to explore the Tamar River .The combination of breathtaking scenery, calm waters, and a laid-back atmosphere makes it an ideal activity, especially on a warm summer day. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

My son absolutely loved the Queen Victoria Museum! 🦖✨ There were so many interesting things to see, from dinosaurs to the interactive science displays, and he didn’t want to leave. The staff were friendly, and it’s a great place for kids to learn while having fun. Entry is free, making it a perfect family outing in Launceston. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Tasmania with kids!

We had an amazing experience at the Queen Victoria Museum in Inveresk! It’s incredible that such a high-quality museum is totally free to visit. There’s so much to see and do, from fascinating exhibits to hands-on activities that keep both kids and adults entertained for hours. It’s a great place for families to spend the day exploring and learning together. Everything is well presented, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Definitely a must-visit spot if you’re in Launceston!

Wow, I absolutely loved this place. It’s so simply understated and that’s exactly what makes it special. While it doesn’t have a huge number of objects, the exhibitions that are there are genuinely interesting. It’s the kind of place you might only visit once or twice, but you’ll remember it. What really stood out to me was how they’ve kept the old warehouses and buildings in such a way that it feels like someone could just walk back in and start using them for their original purpose again. It’s incredible so authentic and thoughtful. The Food Bank gardens run by OzHarvest were unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I’m from Brisbane, and honestly, Brisbane could never compete. There’s this quiet brilliance about it all nothing overdone or trying too hard. It just is, and that’s what makes it wonderful. The staff were really friendly. I did struggle a bit to find where to get coffee and food, but that might’ve been on me. I was on holiday and happy to wander around at my own pace. The layout wasn’t but was confusing, I just didn’t put much effort into figuring it out. I was on holidays and peopled out at that point. I’d recommend everyone visit at least once. It might not have the same spark on repeat visits, but it’s absolutely a must-see.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk is a captivating and diverse cultural hub. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th‑century railway workshop, it offers engaging exhibits on Tasmanian history, natural science, and industrial heritage. Highlights include impressive dinosaur fossils, interactive displays at the Phenomena Factory, and immersive planetarium shows. The museum is well-organized, thoughtfully curated, and free entry makes it accessible for all. Friendly staff enhance the experience, making it a must-visit for families, history buffs, and curious minds.

My party was looking for something inside to do on a day with questionable weather. This fit our interest in history and it's free. The museum shows different parts of Tasmania's history. More open plan than any museum I've been in before but it really works. It allow the people to flow through. There are outbuildings that are there for exploring too, including a public display space. Immediately outside the double doors is the childrens area. It's interactive science. It looked like a lot of fun to this adult. Included among the exhibits that I really liked were the taxidermy and the Tasmainian Tiger sections. That small section of the Tassie Tiger is so tragic and emotional. The final one I liked is travel in Tasmania over time shoes and walking canes, bikes, a side saddle. Basically the why and how's transportation is the way it is in Tasmania, it's unlike anything I've seen in a single place. The Planetarium did cost $9 per adult but it was definitely worth it. We chose to see We Are Stars, featuring the voice of the ever talented Andy Serkis. The presenter, a volunteer (as they all are), skillfully showed us through what was going to be in the sky when that night. I highly recommend taking the time to go to the Planetarium on a trip here. Parking is paid and on the grounds of UTAS Launceston. But it's free if you visit on a Sunday. The site is largely wheelchair accessible. There are certain outbuildings that will be harder to access, most importantly the rail workshop.

I passed through here 4 times in 2 days as I was staying at marrilac house in brisbane street in the city centre 2 nights as a driver for my cousin who was in the LGH. I think it was about 1.9 kilometers walk each way. So the 4 times I walked through this park it was a welcome relief to take a few minutes to relax In the park before continuing on my mission. Beautiful park. Saw lots of pigeons, but had no food so I crushed a few acorns after peeling the outer skin. Some of them had a nibble but most weren't that interested. But it did draw them close enough in numbers to eat out of my hand. This fountain is totally so beautiful. The dark grey colours tho really don't do it justice. A sandstone colour would make it stand out & reveal it's beauty way better. I am so glad that the drunk bunch of youths being idiots are no longer hanging around there anymore as many have said here also. & the peace & tranquility of this relaxing space has returned to its beauty once again.

This is a wrought-iron bridge with one span at the mouth of the South Esk River in Launceston. The bridge was constructed in 1864 in Manchester before being transported to Launceston. A second nearly identical span was added in 1904. This bridge section was created in Launceston. The crossing was renamed King's Bridge at that time as well. It is a nice historic structure and approach on foot from the town centre to the Cataract Gorge entry, you cross the bridge to begin the track into the gorge. Worth a brief stop for a picture or two.

I usually don't get kebab, but because of a friend's recommendation, I decided to go to this place to try their kebab wrap. I ordered the Samosa with the LOT. While I was eating the wrap, I noticed that there was a piece of a Stainless Steel Scourer in a bite I took and could only get half of it out and a small piece of the Scourer got stuck in my throat. I am in the ER now waiting for nearly 4 hours to have x-rays and see a doctor. Their negligence has cost me my time, money, and loss of pay as I am a casual employee, I will not even get paid for being sick. A $15, kebab, and their terrible food safety has cost me over $300. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Hope you fix this issue. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Visited this shop last night and ordered a regular mix HSP with 4 saucesThe container was about 60% full, barely any sauce, what’s worse is the ¢50 charge was 2 extra sauces but not enough quantity of the sauce…what a joke. The quality of the meat was poor. The food was edible but only just… save your money go elsewhere if possible. The 2 stars is only because it was open late and no other options available. Won’t be returning.

Fabulous day out with Stephanie and our fellow wine companions for the day: Bob & Carol! Perfect balance of food, wine and fun conversations. Excellent value for money and relaxed day out. Tasmania never fails to amaze me: the perfect climate for the best food and wine and both were perfectly showcased today along interesting commentary from Stef, wide variety of tastings from passionate cellar doors along the West Tamar Valley!

Incredible day exploring the beautiful Tamar Valley. Jeremy was a wonderful host - generous with his kindness & knowledge. The wineries were fantastic - Winterbrook was a stand out along with Loira Vines with a scrumptious lunch! Thank you so much!

Excellent day spent in tue vineyards with Jeremy. He is calm and very knowledgeable about wines as well as Tasmania. We visited: - Velo Wines - Holm Oak (check their tennis rackets!) - Small Wonder (lovely cheese and meats platter) - finished at Swinging Gates (Doug was am amazing host, he is passionate and likes to experiment with wines - I have my first white Amarone). They also have some nice domes that you can rent and sleep with the grapes.

Jeremy was a fantastic guide and took us to some amazing wineries. He went out of his way to show us some additional spots that meant a lot to my family which was greatly appreciated. Lunch was delicious and we couldn’t recommend this tour highly enough
Hayden C — Google review
Look, TBH you only have 2 companies in Launceston that do small group wine tours. So this company has no competition to motivate them to evolve. Tamar Valley wine is amazing!!! This company did not impress to say the least. Your host, a 70 y/o white collar man, loved to talk about things he was interested in, really lacked the ability to engage with diversity. The tour stated “4 wineries”, which, on the last 15 wine tours I’ve done around Australia, NZ and US… it is the understanding your “tasting at 4 wineries. However on arrival at the third winery we were having g lunch at Small Wonder Wines, on assumption we would be doing a tasting and then choosing a glass with lunch, we were met with attitude and distain from the worker. We explained we would be happy to pay. Again, pure attitude. One of the group went out to ask the diver if he could please explain. To which he came inside and gaslit us! Talking down to us like we were children saying “oh we never said there would be a tasting here, and the last venue we go to has big pours”. And then comments were made about lack of time, but when asked, ok, when do we need to be gone by, there was no direct answer. After that discussion with tone, he then suggested we do it with lunch… but with an attitude of “stop being difficult”. The group were embarrassed and said nothing more. We also hurried our lunch thinking we were time sensitive. I had messaged with the booking and again with confirmation I required GF at lunch and it was acknowledged. My platter came out with bread all over it. Now this was awkward- as we were already on the back foot. I was met with a snarl and eye roll “we were never told” The same platter came out with breadcrumbs all over it.. and GF crackers placed instead. I didn’t complain, I was already so embarrassed. And sure enough, I got very ill. The bus was tense after that, with one of the gentlemen’s volunteering to sit up the front with the host, as the women felt uncomfortable. At the last venue, we were again gaslit , when asked what time we needed to leave. No answer, he was asked directly 3 times with no direct answer. So some of the members of the group snuck out and went to the gin distillery next door for a tasting. That was the most enjoyable part! Ahahaha. There was no music played at all! No laughter. It was uncomfortable. Improvements: - state you only taste at 3 wineries. - Don’t gaslight or talk down to customers like they are children. - Talk more about the history of Launceston, colonisation, indigenous community? - Talk less at your customers. Instead Ask your clients about themselves, do some icebreakers. This experience is about them, not you. - Play some music! Let people enjoy the fact they are having a few drinks and laughs!

We had a great time with Jeremy. He has excellent wine industry knowledge and is a thoughtful tour guide. We visited 5 wineries and had a really nice grazing platters at winery number 3 and 5. Definitely recommend if you’re in Launceston or looking for a new destination.

This tour was amazing! Steph took us around to all the wineries, giving us in the in-depth background along the way. She even sat with us at some of the tastings to give us more information. All the wineries, plus lunch, we went to were were fabulous and we loved the wines - bought many bottles!! We loved the extra touch of the cheese board Steph provided at our last winery. Would highly recommended to all!

Fabulous wine and food Tour. From woe to go we had professional and friendly service from Steph and Jeremy. The van was clean and comfortable and Jeremy was an excellent and very informative driver and host for the whole day. We visited 4 different small wineries (Velo, Winter Brook, Loira Vines and Swinging Gate) and at each one we had knowledgeable and passionate owners conducting the tastings. The variety of wines was well chosen with an amazing lunch at Loira Vines. Thanks Steph and Jeremy.

If you're seeking legal guidance in Tasmania, look no further than Ross A Hart Barrister and Solicitor. Recently, a visitor sought assistance for a Ukrainian couple looking to escape Europe and relocate to Tasmania. Although they were directed to the Migrant Resource Center, it became clear that their focus was primarily on other nationalities. This highlights the importance of finding specialized support for unique situations like this one.
Popped in to get some advice on helping a Ukraine Couple escape from Europe and come to Tasmania, the Staff member sent me to the Migrant Recourse Center, but apparently they are not interested in European Refugees or an Australian returning to Australia, they are only interested in dealing with Ethiopians etc. So I will need to chase up someone who can help, just wanting to know which Visa would be more appropriate for the Couple. They have already lost their house and possessions in 2014 and want to come to Tasmania.🤔😊

Steak house
Black Cow Bistro is a stylish steakhouse located in a former butchery, featuring vibrant murals and offering premium, free-range beef. The restaurant pays homage to its roots as a local butcher's shop by showcasing grass-fed, free-range, dry-aged Tasmanian beef. Tasmania's strict regulations against artificial additives in red meat production and the focus on free-range grass-fed cattle result in high-quality meat from happy animals.
Visited this cozy restaurant on a Friday night and had a fantastic dining experience. We started with a scallop each and shared the pork belly for our entrées. both were delicious, and I especially loved the fresh, salad that accompanied the pork. For mains, we ordered the scotch fillet and eye fillet. The steaks were tender, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. We also really appreciated the thoughtful pacing of the meal. It was great to have a bit of time between courses to enjoy and digest. Our only regret? Not saving room for dessert! We’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Launceston.

The Eye Fillet is so nice and tender! Oysters are fresh but a bit small on the day of our visit. Jasper was a great help in offering suggestions on what to try. Wanted to try more stuff on the menu, but our small appetite made it impossible. Immediately made a booking for dinner the next day when we were settling our bill 😝

Went to the Black Cow Bistro while we were in Launceston for our babymoon. We picked this restaurant based on the high ratings as we were looking for a location for a celebratory meal. The steak was nice, reasonably cooked, but unfortunately a little bit tougher than I would expect for an eye fillet. We have visited a number of mid-range and high end steak restaurants and competitively unfortunately, the Black Cow didn't stack up against our favourites. The mushrooms and beans for the side dishes were quite nice, but the best side was definitely the potato galette that came with he steak. The bread was delicious, but of course you can't really go wrong there. It did take a while for the meals to come out, which wasn't that surprising given how busy the restaurant was. Service was fantastic, and this is primarily why I'm giving a 4 star rating instead of a 3.

What a terrific experience. Delicious entrees including oyster kilpatricks, scallops, kingfish, steak tartare and octopus... All sublime. Mains comprising eye fillet, porterhouse and slow cooked rump were all devoured heartily. Each were cooked to requested style and on point. But overall the deserts were heavenly and well worth leaving room for including yuzu lemon tart and frozen caramel slice. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Anthony H — Google review
We visited the Black Cow Bistro on our first night visiting Launceston, and we couldn't have had a better experience or better tasting food. The quality of the meat was excellent, with little to no force needing to be used when cutting a piece - it was that juicy and tender. We shared with our waitress that we were celebrating our anniversary, and when our dessert came out, they included a small candle of celebration, which was a genuine and human touch. The dessert was simple yet hit the spot perfectly! I would highly recommend visiting here for a special occasion, or if you would like to indulge in some high-quality service and food.

Mudbar Restaurant is a modern Australian dining spot located in Launceston's iconic Seaport. It offers an intimate dining room, al fresco seating with marina views, and versatile lounge areas. The restaurant boasts an extensive wine list featuring Tasmanian Pinot Noir and a diverse cocktail selection. Its food menu offers a memorable modern Asian-style dining experience suitable for various occasions, from intimate dinners to casual lunches or group events.
I had a wonderful 31st birthday dinner at Mudbar with friends. The interior aesthetic and atmosphere were perfect, classy but still relaxed. The staff were kind but not overbearing and personally wished me a happy birthday. The food and drinks were delicious and my friends said so too. We all liked that it was quiet enough to talk (but not too quiet). A perfect dinner experience.

Highly recommend if you love great food, good cocktails, and a happy, laid-back atmosphere!

Dinner at this place was a little different. A bit of improvement from the floor staff would go a long way — having to wait and look around just to ask for a napkin was slightly frustrating. That said, the gentleman who served us was kind and thorough when explaining the menu. The cocktails and oysters were absolutely delicious! 🍸🦪

My partner and I had such an amazing experience! Food was to die for, The best oysters and scallops I have ever had! I would come back to mudbar if I could get those scallops again & for Pete’s service it was some of the best service we have ever had.

Mudbar is a popular venue for events so we made sure to book well in advance when planning our friend’s birthday. The team leader met us when we arrived and set everything out for us, which was very welcoming. However, when it came to ordering our entrees, one team member seemed very unhappy to serve us that we were there or she went through some personal difficulties ,honestly made all of us uncomfortable. We were even contemplating whether it might make sense to just leave, but we did not want to spoil what was intended to be a memorable celebratory occasion. Fortunately, we had another team member who took over our table, she was great and showed good professionalism, even helping us out with photos. The food was really very good—a big thank you to the chef! The group loved all dishes we ordered, and the birthday dessert with the special message was a nice touch and we really appreciated that.

Mudbar makes for a great place for Lunch; right on the water with a scenic outlook and a really laidback vibe. Service was friendly and attentive, adding to the experience. Most of the food was excellent, though the noodle dish missed the mark with vinegar overpowering the other flavours. Aside from that, a strong showing and definitely worth a visit.

Amazingly good food. We both love cooking and it was refreshing tasting so many flavours and textures. The chef is a genius combining food with sauces. I had crispy soft shell crab and my hubby had 2 starters : scallops and pork belly which were both amazing. The crab had delicious crispy texture and tom yum aioli and salad was interesting mix of fine leaves shredded and well dressed with asian style flavours. I had the duck as mains and the black sauce was hard to analyse but flavour was really lovely. Waiter explained it had a cheese Gochuchang mixed into it and black beans. The desert was a perfect end to a great meal....

Excellent drinks, food and atmosphere. Edit: the chilli cocktails quite nice, but a bit overwhelming on the amount of spiciness. That's coming from someone that likes spicy food. The taste was so nice though. The mango one tasted amazing all around.

Cataract on Paterson is a stylish bistro located on the edge of Launceston's CBD, set inside a converted warehouse. The menu showcases fresh Tasmanian produce, with a focus on high-quality grass-fed beef and locally caught seafood like oysters and scallops. One of its unique features is the option to cook steak, prawns, scallops, or salmon on a 400-degree volcanic stone at the table.
Great food. Great vibe. We did wait 45mins for our food but we were warned beforehand and it was worth it in the end. Wife ordered the scallops hot stone dish and I ordered the scotch fillet. Steak was cooked to medium and was super tasty and tender. Scallops tasted fresh, sweet and juicy.
Glen P — Google review
The salt and pepper squid tasted fresh and it was appropriately seasoned with the special salad dressing. The amount was more than I expected. The stuffed cob was good too, the cheese went well with garlic butter on bread. For main, we were frightened that we might ruin the eye fillet on stone, but we found out that any way you do it, the meat tastes just fine! It tastes nice both when rare and done. We were recommended by the staff to cut open the meat for better control of the heat. Do order a dessert to wrap up the meal here. The amount was generous, we had the caramel popcorn banana ice cream on stone. It was really nice and fulfilling. I was noticed by email that $30 no show fee applies if I skip the reservation. So Pay attention to that if you are going to book.

A special shout-out to Gabrielle, who was an absolute sweetheart. She was the one attending to us and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. Her kindness, professionalism, and warm demeanor truly stood out. Highly recommend this place to anyone needing cataract care — they go above and beyond!

My experience in Cataract on Paterson was incredible. First, the oysters were the most fat and juicy ones I had ever eaten. The lemon is also very sour and I didn’t know that until I squeezed too much🫠🫠🫠. The steak was very nice as it was cooked perfectly medium rare, with a tender and juicy inside with a crispy outside. Yet the medium well one was slightly negative as it was a little bit chewy and wasn’t as nice. The linguini is also recommended as it has aa little sour taste topped with juicy prawns. Just a perfect match. The waiter was very nice and kept refilling the water without us asking her. What a great start to my trip.(I went here on 29th July 2025, so the prices might change a little bit)

Geronimo Aperitivo Bar & Restaurant in Launceston offers an upscale dining experience with a stylish Eurocentric menu and craft cocktails. The restaurant's rustic-chic surroundings, including sun-soaked alfresco area and recycled timber interior, create a cosmopolitan ambiance. The menu features small plates like duck liver parfait, crab and corn ravioli, and chargrilled tiger prawns, best enjoyed with generously sized Aperol Spritz.
I recently had dinner at Geronimo Apertivo Bar & Restaurant and ordered oysters (natural, pepperberry mignonette & Parish Vineyard Riesling granita), the half shell scallop and the prawn, tomato, chilli, garlic, feta baguette to eat. To drink I opted for the Prince cocktail. The oysters were fresh and flavoursome, I enjoyed them all. I could taste a hint of pepper in the pepperberry and there was a slight sweetness to the granita that worked with the saltiness of the oyster. The half shell scallop was equally delicious, the bourride sauce was nice and creamy and I loved the crisp kale. The standout for me were the prawns. The broth was beautiful and comforting with a lovely tomato flavour that was soaked up by the crunchy baguette. I would happily order this again. The prince cocktail was so pretty and I loved that you can smell and taste the lavender. The complimentary asparagus popcorn was a nice touch. I was really impressed with both the menu and the service at Geronimo. Everything I ordered was delicious and the staff were helpful in assisting with menu selection. I rate it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5.

Food was very nicely presented, all looked amazing! Taste-wise though bit of a miss, nothing outstanding except the anchovy crostini which was unique! The king prawn ravioli was also very chewy which was weird, otherwise it would've been great. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and good portion sizes.

Solid quality pan-Mediterranean food. Good varieties of vegetarian dishes and side dishes. The broad beans falafel is especially excellent. Lobster pasta is excellent, although is a little short on actual lobster, delicious sauce though. Wine list by the bottle is extensive, more limited by the glass but a good range. Has outdoor tables that are dog friendly.

Went with my wife to celebrate her BD, had a lovely dinner here. The menu reads well, and the idea of many entrees with one main and sides was great. We decided to try a set menu and chose Signature main to share with 5 small plates for the table. It was one of the best restaurant experiences we had in Tasmania, the best restaurant in Launceston so far. The place itself is very cosy and the service was great, we served 5 small plates at reasonable intervals helped to keep the table from looking crowded. Although the Charred Stanley octopus was a little bit overcooked, the Beef Carpaccio (raw) and the Kingfish Crudo (sashimi) were out of this world, totally well prepared and delicious. The Empanada had stuffed well with braised beef, and the Local crab & corn ravioli was puffed up soft and fully cooked. Our main was Lamb Rump, cooked exactly as ordered (medium) served with eggplant as a side, which was so flavoursome. Overall, although the food was a little bit pricey for the portion, the taste was perfect, we were extremely impressed with our meals. We will definitely be returning.
Hamed S — Google review
We really enjoyed our dining experience here, although found it was too much food and on the expensive side. The decor inside is nice and it's a pretty chilled ambience. The food was all tasty. We went for the second menu option with a selection of small plates and a standard main to share. It was nice. Would recommend a visit.

My taste buds are still salivating over this experience. It was heaven on a plate, such amazing options all cooked to perfection. From the meat to the veggies, and of course the dessert. I was just loving every mouth full. Definitely grab a good bottle of wine to enhance the experience. Lovely staff too, Nicole was the best! Can’t wait to be back again!!

Overall this restaurant has so much potential, but a cumulating list of execution errors results in a disappointing dining experience. Food The menu reads really well, and the idea of many entrees with one main and sides is great. What we received was average at best. Octopus was so over cooked we were chewing for minutes on each bite. Empanadas were alright but the onion jam was incredibly acidic. The kingfish sashimi was enjoyable, probably needs more dressing to bring the dish together. The sourdough flatbread was solid. I’d suggest having oil and balsamic or butter as a side to this. Corn ravioli was unusual but enjoyable. For main we had lobster pasta. It was as if the chef did t taste the dish before sending it out. Completely bland. No seasoning whatsoever. The sides of zucchini was average and the mixed leaves did the job. The portion sizes were overall massive. Way too much food. I’d have preferred half as much with an increase in quality of execution. There was about 400g of pasta and about 40g of lobster and 4 cherry tomatoes. Way too much pasta and not enough of everything else including sauce. For what the price was I certainly felt ripped off. Drinks I absolutely love you can get cocktails in half serves. Allows you to try your way through a few on the menu. I had intended on trying 6 half size drinks. In the end I only had 3 and the main reason was the staff lacked attentiveness. At every other restaurant I go to, when the drink is empty they take the glass and ask what to have next. I had an empty glass twice for more than 15 minutes and none of the staff noticed. Was certainly a dampener on the experience. Overall Get the chefs to taste the food and season accordingly. Adjust the portion sizes down. Make staff reasonably attentive. This place will be the best restaurant in town. It’s so so close but missed the mark in so many ways.

STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE. Would’ve wanted to give rating of 0/5. I actually got more and more angry as our dinner progressed and as each plate got served. The amount charged for the quality and serving size of food is incredulous, abysmally small, an absolute RORT. Not even Sydney eastern suburbs would be that unreasonable.... AND, all of the dishes we ordered were actually not that nice - not executed well, not quality ingredients, weird flavour combinations or too salty. I really don’t get the rave ratings about this place! As we weren’t too hungry We ordered the $50 pp menu for a table of 3 of us that comes with 5 small plates to share plus a dessert each... so if you count dessert as $15 per plate, it works out to be $25 PER PLATE OF FOOD WE GOT. You can judge for yourself ...Look at my photos of the portion size we got on each of the 5 plates (and the plating was snack food style, not something you should pay $25 for): - 3 croquettes (ie 1 croquette each), - 3 dumplings (ie 1 dumpling each); - a beef tartare (2 small mouthfuls each) - 3 ravioli (1 each) - 3 tiny tiger prawns - the size of an index finger (1 prawn each). I can honestly say, this is my first restaurant where I was ordering takeaway from a Thai place around the corner, even before all the mains were served as we knew we wouldn’t even be half full by the time we finished.

Breakfast restaurant
Tatler Lane by Sweetbrew is the result of a passion for community and exceptional coffee. This cafe, located in the heart of Launceston, has been pivotal in introducing specialty coffee to the area. The all-vegetarian brunch menu with Middle Eastern influences is highly recommended. By day, it operates as a top-notch brunch cafe and coffee roastery but transforms into a fantastic bar at night.
Nice place, the food was excellent, tasty and well presented. Staff was friendly and helpful. They knew the menu and were happy to suggest. We had the tomato medley and the omelette. Both were very nice. A little on the large size for us but ok. Music a little intrusive. Heavy on the beat, but being boomers probably to be expected. Coffee was really nice. Would come again.

We stopped here for brunch our first choice was booked and busy. Aren’t we glad we did service 5* and a beautiful vibe too. What a lovely space all 4 of our group ordered something different all equally happy and empty plates. Green Shakshuka eggs delicious

A delicious twist on the classic Shakshuka! The creamy green sauce is fresh and flavourful, perfectly paired with poached eggs and toasted bread. Light, wholesome, and beautifully presented — a must-try for brunch lovers. 🥚🌿🥖 The Omelette of the Day was light, fluffy, and full of fresh seasonal flavours. Made with free-range eggs, it tasted wholesome and perfectly cooked. A simple yet satisfying breakfast option — fresh, filling, and beautifully presented. 🍳✨ Best waffles ever! Beautifully presented with perfect smoothness, balance, and flavour — hands down the best in terms of decoration, texture, and taste. Absolutely irresistible! 🧇✨

We are from Melbourne, so have pretty high expectations. We were not disappointed! This is Melbourne level brunch in Launceston! Both the food and the coffee were absolutely exceptional. I highly recommend the Green Shakshuka! I would definitely come back again.

Amazing food, piccolo was great, as was the batch brew. Nice vibes, clean, 100% recommend to anyone wanting a good coffee or a bite to eat. Not too loud, and no cars whizzing past because it's tucked away

Such a cosy and vibrant spot! The coffee was amazing, food fresh and flavorful, and the atmosphere had that perfect Launceston charm. Great place to relax, chat, or just enjoy a good brew.

I only had a takeaway coffee here but I could say service was very good and so was coffee. The restaurant looked really nice and inviting. Unfortunately we didn't get time to dine in this trip but will come here for a meal in the next trip.

Kings Bridge Bar & Restaurant is a delightful family-friendly destination that caters to all your dining needs, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With its inviting atmosphere, you can choose to relax in the cozy front bar by a warm fire during chilly days or enjoy the spacious Watermill Conservatory Room. For those sunny afternoons, the courtyard provides both sunlit and shaded spots under umbrellas. It’s an ideal place for unwinding with drinks and snacks after exploring nearby attractions like Cataract Gorge.
Totally surprised to find this place open early on a Sunday morning. Stopped here for coffee and ended up getting a breakfast burger as well. It was fantastic had the perfect ratio of egg and bacon. Check out the pic below. Quick and friendly service, even sightseeing advice. The building itself has a heap of history and multiple rooms for different atmospheres. Was nice and warm on a cold winter's morning.

You walk in, and it's like stepping into a cozy cabin, but with better lighting and a fully stocked bar. All that wood gives it a warm, inviting vibe. Plenty of space to soak up some rays and watch the world go by. And the ginger beer? Fantastic. Seriously, it had that perfect balance of spicy and sweet. I could've sat there all day, sipping ginger beer and pretending I was on vacation. The service was solid, the atmosphere was chill, and the whole experience was just… pleasant. If you're looking for a place to relax, enjoy a good drink, and bask in the sunshine, Kings Bridge Bar & Restaurant is a solid choice.

Food was amazing Atmosphere was dead… I went on a Thursday night. I’d like to come back on a night where there’s some entertainment. There wasn’t even music playing, just ABC on the TV with subtitles. My tip… go when there’s some entertainment.

Best steak in town. Selections of beers, wine and cuisines in the menu. Cozy design! Love to come back again…

Food was quite disappointing. It was edible but the pasta was bland and really over cooked, like it came out of a can. They also had a surcharge because it was a normal Sunday so they lost another star for that.

Hubby had the Steak and said it was the Best steak he had ever had! Melted in the mouth. Prawn tacos also highly recommend, soooo good. Wow, the service, the meals and the facilities are fantastic!!!!!! Can’t wait to go again!

Nice bar and restaurant in Launceston. When you enter, there is first the bar and you walk through to the restaurant. We only had dinner at the restaurant. The food was amazing and portion sizing was generous. The prices were fair, perhaps leaking towards the cheaper side. Service was friendly. My only complaint is that service was a little slow for both ordering and receiving food, considering the restaurant didn't seem overly busy. However it was a public holiday so potentially they were just had low staff levels.
Mitchell D — Google review
If your staff hasn't been trained how to treat customers, do something about it. Loved your food, but the young blonde eyelash lady has a superior, nasty attitude. My friends won't be back . I was really disappointed in her behaviour and delayed service as well as my $20 drink....the most basic looking cocktail ever. Will give you another go,but also like to have a chat to the manager. Your food and atmosphere is great. We all really like it.

Mexican restaurant
Function room facility
Restaurant
The Prickly Cactus is a vibrant restaurant located in the heart of Launceston, offering a laid-back atmosphere with wooden floors and a casual vibe. This spot is known for its delicious burritos, housemade tortillas, and an impressive drinks menu featuring margaritas, tequila, beers, wines, and spirits. Whether you're looking for casual dining or planning a special event, The Prickly Cactus has got you covered.
When I visited Launceston, I dined at The Prickly Cactus, a cozy Mexican restaurant. I tried their mixed chicken and beef fajitas, and I truly enjoyed the dish—it felt authentic and flavorful. The chicken was particularly well-marinated, with a subtle hint of star anise that elevated the taste. If I visit Launceston again, I would love to return and explore more of their authentic Mexican food offerings. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and generous with their service, while the atmosphere felt warm and genuine.
Ziyad A — Google review
This restaurant was recommend to me. And it was a good experience. The staff were great. They did allow for menu changes which was great. For my Burrito bowl I was a little disappointed in the corn chips as they are slivers as illustrated in the photo. They didn’t taste that great in my opinion. Overall though our meals were great.
Paula A — Google review
Our dinner at The Prickly Cactus was without a doubt the best meal we had on our recent trip to launceston. We started with the catcus bread (basically a tortilla pizza) and it was amazing, I wanted to order another one right away. My husband had the beef burrito for his main which he said was really good. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and it's quite possibly the best one that I've ever had. If we are ever back in Launceston we will without a doubt be going there again!
K M — Google review
Loved it, quality Mexican food for the whole family, including 2 young kids who don't like spicy food. So good.
Alex R — Google review
We absolutely love mexican and have it regularly. Like many others, we based our attendance on the initial reviews. It's a nice looking place and the decor has the mexican theme, but if I'm going out to experience Mexican, wouldn't it be nice to hear some Mexican style music in the background. Unfortunately hip hop or rap, whatever it was, not pleasant. The waitress was pleasant and quick with the order. We ordered nachos with a view to perhaps add to the order when we finished that. Nachos had those round corn chips and the ratio of cheese was all wrong. The bottom third of the meal was just corn chips. Taco Bills do a great salsa. This was not. Even , El Paso from the supermarket is superior to what was served. It was more sauce than a salsa. I don't like giving rubbish reviews, so my only advice (particularly re nachos) is source a better salsa, go with a bit more cheese and finally, download a mexican music album. It'll be worth it.
Peter J — Google review
Had a chicken burrito with rice and salad. And we shared a cream cheese cob. I have been here years ago and it's was fantastic. But NOT today, It was so tasteless and filled with more rice and hardly any chicken. So very disappointing, . My hubby had a beef burrito and the same thing hardly any beef and filled with tasteless rice we had drink each. The salad consisted of a few lettuce leaves, 1 slice of cucumber 1 strip of capsicum and a bit of red cabbage $88 what a waste of money it would of been better if we had stayed home and had a sandwich. The waitress was lovely tho. WE WONT BE BACK!
Colleen C — Google review
Great service, but the food was just low-key not good.
Maddie B — Google review
Crowded. We ended up in a back space that was not particularly warm. However the food was worth it. I had something called the Chilli Con Cactus. This was a take on Chilli Con Carne, with some beautifully sauteed vegetables and chillis mixed with chicken and a moderate amount of spicey hot sauce. I had been worried that they might swamp the vegetables and chicken with the sauce, but they didn't, so their flavours still came through. My wife had a fish and prawn on avocado with some sort of white sauce. Also yum. For drinks we had a Red Flamingo Margarita. Beautiful. Well worth visiting.

Restaurant
Dynasty Chinese Restaurant in Launceston offers a vibrant dining space adorned with gold decor and colorful ceiling murals. It is renowned for its Cantonese and regional Chinese dishes, which are prepared with a modern twist using fresh Tasmanian local produce. Guests can enjoy banquet dinners featuring soup, entrees, multiple shared dishes, and delightful desserts like deep-fried ice cream.
Food is good. We live in Melbourne for over 37 years, the two dishes we had today were one of the best that my wife and I ever had. Thank you for the quality food! However service needs a little bit of work specially when new faces come in.The atmosphere is closely related with service. Finally wish the restaurant all the best!
James C — Google review
I’m not sure if knives and forks are standard here or they just see me as a middle aged white guy. Even the green tea came in a mug with a handle. The food was ok. Not sure if I’ll come back as there’s other Asian restaurants about that should have chop sticks and nicer cups for green tea.
Braden H — Google review
My wife and I ordered the fish and ginger with shallots, and Chinese cabbage and vermicelli, and rice. The food portions that came were too small for two normal sized adults, and we were still hungry. The fish dish was tasty, however apart from the small serve, there was also too little sauce that came with the meal, meaning there was not enough flavour, and when you mix it with the rice it is too dry. They skimped on the sauce. Good restaurants know the right balance of sauce for the dish. The cabbage dish was even smaller in portion than the fish, even though it was also a main meal, and there was too little cabbage. The end result was we paid $67 for a skimpy meal. We felt ripped off. There was no value for your money. The waitress asked us how was our meal. We said that the servings were too small. She didn't have the decency to reply and ignored us and walked off. That was rude. When we paid, we told them about our experience. They said that the servings are their regular servings. We won't be regular customers though. Poor value for money, and they don't care much for the customer experience. Why would you return.

My family of 4 and I came to have an early dinner arriving at 5:25 thinking we’d have a quick dinner and go home, we ordered our drinks and our meals (we got the dynasty banquet) our drinks and our soup came out not long after however think we waited nearly 30-45 minutes after our soup for our entrees, the soup was abit bland needed salt, the entrees were ok I wasn’t very impressed it was just kinda ok, then I think we waited 25-30 more minutes for our mains, the sweet and sour pork along with the fried rice was probably my favourite, everything else I wasn’t too impressed by, the Mongolian lamb was the spiciest one I’ve ever had, the calamari was extremely spicy and left a hot feeling on my lips until I left, the food wasn’t very good overall, I then kept trying to get the attention of the server and she looked at me multiple times and walked away then when she did come over she was rude and I had asked for Take-Away containers and our deep fried ice cream, when we got the deep fried ice cream it was the worst I’ve ever had the crumbing was something I’ve never had before, there wasn’t any sauce on top it just wasn’t very impressive. There were 2 other servers who were lovely and kind.

Has been A favourite Chinese restaurant... Owners and menu has changed... so its now a little different to what we liked.... the staff ( 1x waitess) was working her butt off and did well to wait about 9 tables herself.
Janeil — Google review
Fancy Chinese restaurant with excellent service. All the food we ordered was delicious. We will definitely return. The only thing is that the price is slightly high for the size they offered.
Denni A — Google review
We went here last night. Arrived at 5.45PM the restaurant was not very busy. Ordered soups and mains, got the soups. Then a lot of tables came in and the kitchen served them all their entrees and forgot about our mains. At one point a waitress rushed over to our table and said nothing! Just stood there. I said to her, ‘did you forget to place our mains order? We are still waiting for our mains’ but she didn’t say a word to us, she just ran away. A complete lack of communication at this point, we were left guessing what’s happened?? We were catching a flight and decided to not wait for our mains and got up to pay for our soups. We had been there for 1 hour at that point. We were greeted at the front of the restaurant with our mains. I explained that we didn’t have much time and thought they had forgotten about our meals. We were told that they were very busy and I could come out into the kitchen to see how busy they are! We declined the invite to see the kitchen, and decided to stay and eat the mains. Our food was bland, lifeless and oily. Wow, could not believe how tasteless the meals where, extremely disappointing! One of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever had. I can’t recommend this restaurant on service or food. If something has gone wrong with placing an order, at least have a proper conversation with your customers to let them make an informed decision, don’t just run upto the table, say nothing and run away, and expect them to understand what’s going on. Our total was $98…we regret going here.

Believe the hype. The walnut croissant is fabulous. The chicken sandwich is fresh and the coffee is delicious. Seating in the cafe is comfortable, well spaced and there’s a second level for more seating. I don’t know how they manage it but the walnut croissant is a different level crispy and fragrant with the walnut filling. As a tourist, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and the staff were friendly. Would recommend 100%
Jonathan G — Google review
Ordered 2 white coffees, the morning bun, and the chocolate walnut croissant. Slightly pricey bakes at 8-9AUD per item. Coffees were the best we had in launceston. Morning bun is effectively a cinnamon bun, but I thought it lacked a bit of flavour even though the texture was nice. Was also a bit of too much of the same thing. Chocolate walnut croissant is better! More moist and easier to down. Tastier too. Came on a weekday morning at about 9am, did not have to wait for a table.

We've had coffee and pastries there on the 2 days we were in Launceston. Coffee were great and the pastries were amazing. Special shoutout to the spanakopita and the hot pie. They are serious about their pastries and it shows in the quality they delivered. Staff were very accommodating as well and babycino are free to keep those kids happy!

Delicious pastries and coffee! We stopped here for breakfast and enjoyed everything we had. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Make sure you try the “morning bun” (pictured) if you go. I wish we were in Launceston for more than one night so that I could eat one again 🤤 haven’t stopped thinking about it since!!

not only is the flat white very good, their cheese toastie is VERY good: like top 3 i’ve ever had. its crunchy, cheese is tasty, and it even looks really good when it hits your table. the place also looks really nice. there’s even a 2nd floor!! definitely come here with a friend and try their cheese toastie (basically their ham and cheese toastie minus the ham)

This is a popular café in Launceston that most people would probably stop by if they’re in town. It has two levels of seating and the prices are pretty standard for a café. I went around 9 AM and it was quite busy, but there’s short-term parking available. The taste was nothing mind-blowing, just okay, but the atmosphere was really nice.

They target tourists as they cannot appear before a judge and contest the fines, no one answers the phone either. Shitty behaviour. We parked an hour in a zone that allowed free parking for 1 hour (1P) and got a 40AUD fine 35min after already. Absolute BS, very dissapointed in this place.. Visiting from interstate today and my kids absolutely loved the centre! Hits included the Inflatable Ninja Challenge floating course, outdoor waterslide, diving boards, heated pool, outdoor rec pool, and of course the cafe for snacks. Hands down the staff were friendly, alert and approachable. Had a good yarn with a young lifesaver outside who was educating both myself and kids about water safety. Launceston is lucky to have such an awesome venue. Keep up the great work.

fantastic location, clean and safe. Only downside is need to be aware of the time, usually its very busy even just to do quick laps. Unannounced bookings by different school and squads left regular members with less choice to do laps.
NAVDEEP S — Google review
Change rooms, bathrooms, walkways and eating area are filthy and in a state of disrepair. Pools are lovely though. It would be an amazing place if a decent cleaning regime was in place. This is an ongoing concern for the 6 months my child has been attending.
Google U — Google review
Disappointing. Really the only place to swim laps and quite expensive to just get in and do so. Pool is filthy inside and out and the women's changing rooms is just sad. Rust on the lights and the showers look like they have been there since the place opened. Charging $3.40 for a locker is disgusting since there is no where to keep your belongings safe. Most days there aren’t enough lanes available for people to swim safely. Needs a massive upgrade and a membership program for people who swim for fitness so it’s not so expensive.
Taylor R — Google review
I generally like the pool, but someone tried to steal from my backpack while it was left unattended at one of the tables (I left it closed, came back to it open). Nothing was stolen because my valuables were in a smaller pocket. But I told the receptionist about this in case they could warn the other pool goers that a thief was about, or check the security footage and discreetly ask the individual to leave. However, I was told that they know about thieves, it’s a common problem, and they only send security footage to the police if something actually gets stolen. The receptionist’s attitude was rather rude and dismissive, as if I was the problem, and that I was making her life harder by trying to help others not have their valuables stolen. I’m honestly surprised that, if the pool knows this is a common problem, they don’t have warning signs up or strictly advise patrons use the lockers.
Sarah S — Google review
Theirs some really good things, like all different size pools, the spa is gorgeous, and the staff at the Cafe especially the gentleman I cannot complain about in the slightest!! However changerooms need an upgrade, needs to be a deeper pool or even just two lanes for free swim that aren't just for laps, for adults who just want to enjoy themselves but can't do laps. There was so much sand in the spa which has me confused. Take the good with the bad !!
Montanna W — Google review

I was here with my son, god-daughter and nephew. The staff were amazing. Very friendly, helpful and they went out of their way to make our visit better. I highly recommend. Shame they made the toddler area smaller in lieu of the laser tag, but twice now I’ve came and gone and the inflatable bouncy castle was completely deflated. Theres just not enough to keep the kids entertained in the new spot. Also they were playing Promiscuous as soon as I walked in, bit weird for a kids place, I reccomend Kids Paradise, cheaper and a large space.

Do yourself a favour and take your children elsewhere. Extremely Inappropriate music was being played. High prices for indoor playground crap. As well as no food allowed in you must buy it. Way too expensive for what it is as well as unfriendly staff.
Courtney J — Google review
Misleading..... When going in there and purchasing tickets, we got a center pass and airtime regular 'session' for our two kids, with no explanation of exactly what a session was, considering the price we were paying $41 dollars, when paying for the tickets, no conditions were explained. After paying, getting in, changing shoes and socks (yes, you have to buy the grip socks) it was about 8 minutes then the kids played, after a time 30 minutes, we were told to stop and the session was over, we were surprised but figured the staff manning the airtime were going to lunch or the morning session finished. No, the 30 minute session ended.... We then took our daughter to the playground, after about 10 or 15 minutes, we were told her time was up, getting fed up now, we asked for clarification and was told we could pay 'extra' to keep playing, when asked for the receipt, it clearly says 1 hour on the center pass and no time for the airtime, very misleading.
Jason R — Google review
We travelled from the NW coast, but not impressed with the pricing at all, they charge different to what is listed online (so dont trust that if your visiting). Maybe they earn commission🤔 I just paid $27.50 for my 4 year old to play for 1 hour. $49.30 in total for 2 kids (inc socks). No explanation when booking in for why the exhorbanant price! I went back and asked after reviewing the prices online (where it should of cost $35.50, which is still rediculous) the lady told me that the price she charged for my 4 year old is not listed online, so therefore made up 🤔. It appears they charge just charge whatever they want. Utter disgraceful. **in response to your reply. Your response is incorrect, i was not explained anything. And yes, your prices on the website are clear. But no explanation on the amount charged was explained. I did approach staff to question it 5 minutes after arriving, and she told me the price she charged me isnt listed on the internet. I also wrote the review whilst sitting in Airtime right after i questioned your staff member. Also, your information is incorrect, i presume you are confusing me with another patron as i was not rude to anyone, or did i ask for a refund or discount. So please get your facts straight, it is a very unprofessional response from your business. *****to your most recent response. I could sue for defamation. Considering the lady i spoke with about the price thought i had a little girl, i can guarantee, you think i am someone else. And i can see there are other recent reviews about the cost of your venue. Considering you are the "owner" you are extremely unprofessional in your very public responses. I did not swear at any member of your team, nor did i ask for a discount, refund or whatever else the patron you are referring to did. That was not me. Maybe a more professional response would be sufficient and pull you out of the hole you are digging Lex"fun" into.

Obviously the price for what you get is not balanced - sooo many reviews about it 🙄 Your employee actually told us to our faces that NOT ALL prices are listed or explained on your website.... Also noticing the amount of "mistaken identities" . I do question how 12 year olds can work with children 🤷‍♀️ Definitely not very professional attitudes at your business. After the experience my friend had yesterday I am not surprised tho - could be sooo much better! This will be interesting 🤣

Good for the younger kids but there's really not much for kids say 8+. The trampoline area is small and crowded. The inflatables looked great but another cost to use them. The toddler looked really great too, nice big play area, ball pit etc but again, another cost to enter that. Better arcade than the local bowling alley and definitely better ticket to prize ratio!

Saint John Craft Beer Bar, located on St. John Street in Tasmania's north, is a celebration of the contemporary craft of beer making while honoring tradition. The bar offers an intimate and relaxed local atmosphere with a focus on quality ingredients and independent brewing. With up to 14 taps featuring international, Australian, and Tasmanian craft beers, as well as over 170 bottled options, ciders, wines, and spirits, it's a haven for beer enthusiasts.
Great vibe & definitely worth stopping in to sample their tasty beers & food. Smooth beer, tries the Morrison Lager 👌 then grabbed a quick feed after work. Cheeseburger was very good, Fried chicken tenders on the side left me feeling very full 😁 Fun atmosphere, 7pm was the Meat tray raffle & all you have to do is purchase a drink or food at the bar to receive a ticket. Well done, it got the patrons on their feet when raffling off the trays. Love the beer, smooth tasting 🍻

Best cheeseburger I've had in Launceston, and the chips were to die for. Assuming they've been par boiled and fried twice. Absolutely delicious. Will be back for the cheeseburger. The drinks are very expensive, but you sign up to that by coming in, so no marks lost for that. Fantastic decor and vibe.

Saint John Craft Beer Bar is an excellent spot for anyone who loves great food and drinks. The burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly — one of the best I’ve had in a while. The beer selection is impressive, with a wide range of local and craft options to suit every taste. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff make it a great place to unwind and enjoy good company. A must-visit for burger and beer lovers alike.

ADDIT: Came back here during peak time to try the menu and further explore the drinks. Unfortunately, we couldn't do this - wait time in the kitchen was over an hour and drink service slowed right down too. While I recognise places get busy, I thought this was a bit much. The location is very large and I think this adds in part to the problem; too big to serve everyone in it. The beers are still too tier, they just need to work on capacity a bit and working with higher numbers ---------------- Walking by exploring the town and this place caught my attention quick. Coming in and the vibe is the first thing you feel - multiple rooms with a bit of a dive bar feel, however, more elevated The alcohol options are endless and need to be further explored What we did have though tasted great and was served by passionate staff When I come back here for a feed I'm sure this place will fall into my must-visits, but for now it's a must from a drinks-and-chill perspective.

Have you ever had those days where work has been busy, you get home and all you want to do is have a beer, a burger, maybe a quick catch up with your mates over a nice beer and meal. Today was one of those days and I couldn’t fault Saint John Craft Beer Bar. Being a Thursday night it wasn’t that busy. 1st time here the bar tender was good and suggesting a couple pale ales I might like. For food, the special was a quail burger, so that immediately got my attention. It was delicious! And served with some crispy fries perfectly seasoned with salt. You can get sauce apparently, but I like mine naturalé.

We had lunch here today. The bartender was helpful & delightful, however the female kitchen hand was unpleasant. There were four of us & we ordered a charcuterie board & cheese platter. She bought 3 napkins, 2 knives & forks & no plates. I asked for these items for 4 and she was hostile and did not she meet the request. A young male subsequently came & I renewed the request. He bought the additional items without delay and with a smile. The female obviously has a problem with patrons.

What an amazing place for a dinner or a quick bite in Launceston. We went there for food on our only night in Launceston, this place has a short menu but extremely well executed. We decide to get just some bites, like chips and the special of the day, a layered potato with ham and cheese. That was a very good surprise. Great texture and flavour with an amazing sauce. Later on we had the tacos, that are a main thing on their Menu. We had the fish, lamb and pork tacos. The only one that wasn't amazing was the pork. The rest was very good. They have a very goof variety of beers and wine to try. Highly recommend.

Great craft beers. Cheese burger tasted how a cheese burger should taste - nice bit of grease but great flavour. All sauces made in house (other than tomato). We got hot chilli, it was excellent on the chips. Lovely service.

My partner and I both had a relaxation couples massage and wow it was great. Amazing atmosphere, both ladies very professional, thorough with our massages and made us feel very comfortable 😊 very knowledgeable and give myself solid advice on why I get lower back pain and how to correct it to prevent it becoming worse in the future... probably one of the best massages we have ever had so thank you 😊 🙏 we will be back and recommend to anyone who is Launceston in need of a massage.

I have never been to a day spa, so was abit anxious. No need to worry as from the moment I arrived I was treated like a VIP. Angela was my assigned spa therapist and her care and attention were second to none. She was so experienced in her massage techniques. Her soothing words and manner were outstanding. I left there absolutely relaxed and happy 😊

I had booked my partner and I in for a couples package and chose all the components of it that I wanted. The staff were so lovely, the whole space is absolutely stunning and so well thought out. The massage, Indian head treatment were to die for!! We both walked out so relaxed and wish we could do it everyday. Do yourself a favour and book in. It was the perfect start to our first kid free holiday. Thank you cinergee!!

I had a pinched nerve in my lower back, which was incredibly painful, and I decided to have a remedial massage at Cinergee. This was the first time I'd had one - and was the best thing I could have done! Ange Smith was my therapist, and the effect was astounding! She was extremely professional, and was very thorough. She worked on all the tight muscles, released blockages and got fluids flowing again. Ange has many years' experience and is very knowledgeable - and was happy to share advice, exercises, dietary information etc, for which I was truly grateful. She also passed on extra information that I requested, which I found really helpful. I am now pain-free which, after having had back pain for so long, is an amazing feeling. I will continue to follow her advice. I highly recommend Ange if you want thorough treatment - she has certainly helped me immensely. I am sure their other therapists are also very professional - I'm just relating my experience. I found all the staff at Cinergee really friendly and helpful, and will definitely be going back for regular tune-ups.

We had an amazing morning celebrating a hens party, it was wonderful that the six of us could enjoy the spa and sauna and then one of Cinergees most amazing treatments. We loved the space where we could relax, drink tea and even give ourselves a card reading.

I was gifted a massage from a beautiful friend...and this was utterly heavenly!! I have experienced a number of local businesses that offer massage...Cinergee wins hands down!! The room was perfectly warm. The bed was heated, my masseur was a musician of muscle. If I had to pick on fault, it was that there was someone next door cleaning up which was a little distracting...but that only lasted 15mins. Other than that. Every person I encountered upon arrival to leaving was lovely!! I have already teed up my next visit and will be treating another friend of mine to this amazing experience!!

First time on a hot air balloon and it was def an unforgettable adventure. John and Clare were so nice and easy going. They made sure we had a wonderful experience. From the min we met to the sec we said farewell, the whole journey was smooth and fun. We got to see them blow up the blow and assemble the whole thing. It was fascinating to see them put everything together. Once we were up in the air, the scenery changed instantly and it was so stunning and breathtaking. We happened to be inside clouds as well, which was really something and plenty awesome. The landing to me was probably the most interesting part of the whole experience. We ended up landing on our backs, literally. The basket tilted and fell on one side 😂, which was not scary at all but only fun. We were secretly hoping that’s how we would land. Wish granted. We also got experience putting the balloon away, so be ready to get your hands dirty. As we purchased the $450 pp pack, we got to enjoy a meal afterwards, which we both loved too. Thanks again to John and Clare for your hospitality and great experience. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. And we enjoyed every second of it. All the best to you for your future journey.

Nice grassy sloped park. Great place for a picnic, and has clean toilets. The playground has been modernised and would suit age four to ten. Dogs allowed on leash, and there are poo bags provided. There is a half court basketball court in good condition. The park has fabulous views to the east....right out over Launceston city.

Launceston Kayak Tours offers a memorable experience for visitors to Launceston. The 1.5-hour tour takes you up the Nth Esk, back into the Tamar and up the gorge, providing a magical morning on the water. Led by experienced guide Arron, who is personable and knowledgeable about the area, this foot paddle kayak tour allows participants to use their leg strength while keeping relatively dry.
An absolute crime to miss if you are intent on touring Launnie! For beginners, its a good place to learn kayaking, for experienced rowers, its a good place to improve or hone your skills. For both groups, its a good place to tour the city by boat and enjoy the scenery. Plus the boat we were given was very simple to operate. A big shout out to Aaron who guided us through the river, ran through the safety demos real quick, and took lots of photos for us. Highly recommend going here, it's worth the bucks !!
Hemant K — Google review
We had a terrific afternoon tootling around the gorge on the kayaks. We had not used these type of kayaks before and my teenage sons loved them. It was a terrific way to enjoy the gorge and the river. Aaron was an excellent guide - letting everyone interact and have fun. Thank you! Great experience and great value!

Arran was incredible and made our lives a thousand times easier by assisting us with our eldest daughter, so we could focus on our youngest. Next time we are back in Launceston we will be booking another kayak adventure. Thank you Arran!

My friend and I had a great time kayaking with Aran in the Seaport of Launceston. It's foot paddle kayak so you not only use the strength of your legs but also keep relatively dry. It was a beautiful day and Aran was gracious with our lateness. We had an enjoyable time and the weather was lovely. It's definitely worth doing when you are in Launceston.

Here's a 5-star review for the Launceston Kayak Tour: **Absolutely brilliant experience!** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Just completed the kayak tour down Cataract Gorge and it was fantastic. What a lovely perspective to see this stunning area from the water - you really get a different appreciation for the gorge's beauty when you're paddling through it rather than viewing from the walking tracks above. Aran was an absolute delight to deal with throughout. Professional, friendly, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe on the water. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Launceston. Perfect for a Sunday out enjoying the sunshine - would definitely recommend the visit! We stopped by here recently to find stalls from all over the world and tried the Korean BBQ Chicken from Chunk of Chung, Cajun Fish Tacos from The Wooden Ladle, Apple Pie and Hokkaido Cheese Tart from Spring Day Bakery and the Pork and Veggies Korean Pancake from Tassie Korean Kitchen. All the food that we tasted was absolutely delicious but our number one choice for the day was the Chunk of Chung BBQ Chicken on a Stick and their Pear and Cinnamon Kombucha. We loved it so much we went back for seconds! This was such a great way to try different cuisines - they have an area for kids to be entertained plus live music and an outdoor area set up for dining. All the stall holders were in great spirits and the vibe is definitely laid back. We loved ‘travelling’ around the world at this foodie festival!

Absolutely beautiful place enjoying our 2 night stay so far. Close to all amenities very responsive and easy check will definitely be back. Really good accommodation in the middle of CBD. Alex n bec sound like wonderful people. Support your locals

Price is what you pay, value is what you get. Very disappointing accommodation, way too pricey for the level of service and quality provided. Maintenance needed pretty much everywhere - unstable and unscrewed chairs, dirty/yellowish quilt, some light bulbs not working, old fridge freezing the food and so on. Weird tobacco smell when we checked in. Only doorcode and WiFi work well. Location is great though.
Quentin J — Google review
Very clean and spacious apartments. Really enjoyed my stay. Private too with easy parking being a converted house. My only real criticism is it gets freezing inside of a night, the heater even on highest setting is way too small for the apartment, so bring extra bedding or a sleeping bag.
Chris B — Google review
CBD Apartments Launceston. I don’t normally write bad reviews, but when some place boasts 4.5/5 and it doesn’t come close, I had to warn others. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. The advertising both written and photographic overstates what is provided. The only positive was the hot water. There was no coffee table just a big empty space. No alarm clock or iPod dock. The check-in email mentioned a compendium with maps, etc, there was none. There was a remote and manual for a stand alone heater for the bedroom, no heater though which means it was freezing at night. They highlighted soundproof windows but you could hear a mouse fart in the room next door. The front door also rattled in the wind, we had to shove cardboard in it to stop it. You are only sent info on the car park on check in. Our hire car would not fit without risking damage. The worst part was hygiene. There were dirty cups in the cupboard, and dirt on the desk. The washing machine smelt strongly of mould and saving the worst for last which was the sofa bed. The photos speak for themselves. We had to buy a cover just to sit down. The stains were revolting. We tried to contact management the day after check in. The phone is rarely answered and does not accept messages. The email address provided returns a bounce back as it is full. Even the virtual messaging doesn’t work so you couldn’t cancel or request a refund.
James H — Google review
Little over priced, spare mattress was pretty rancid and rough in all honestly. One of the bins weren’t empty, no dishwashing liquid provided and the tv stopped working halfway through, even though the remote was functioning fine. Convenient location; close to the city, yet quiet. The overall look of the apartment was really nice, and the condition was great, however a bit too pricy for what we were given. Try harder next time XOXO
Abbey C — Google review
I’ve stayed at CBD Apartments Launceston a couple of days per month for the last 18 months and I do so for good reason. It’s a great location, competitively priced, offers car accommodation, is neat, tidy and warm, Bek & Alex make booking easy and you can indulge in Netflix and that’s all you should want from short stay accommodation. On a couple of occasions I’ve had to cancel at what I consider late notice and fully expected a financial penalty but Bek couldn’t have been more gracious.

We stopped in for lunch and arrived early, before the restaurant opened so we opted to grab a couple glasses of sparkling wine to enjoy by the fireplace. The cellar door is quite charming and the sparkling wines were delicious as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Once the restaurant opened and we were seated, we had a look through the menu. The setup is quite similar to Stillwater. They have some a la carte "snacks", but you choose either 2 courses (entree + main or main + dessert) or 3 courses. Some courses include a supplement, but this is noted clearly by the server. We started with a half dozen oysters and I think they were the best we had on our trip to Tasmania. So clean and fresh, and the shallot mignonette was a perfect accompaniment. We both opted for entree + main, but it turned out to be way too much food, especially in light of the half dozen oysters we had to start, so just be aware that the portions are quite large. I started with the octopus and my wife had the pork jowl. Both were really tasty, but again, quite large, so after finishing them, we were already getting pretty full. For the mains, my wife had the market fish and I had the lamb rump. The fish was flaky and tender with a crisp skin, which offered a nice textural contrast. The lamb rump was so tender and juicy with a nice fat cap that been slightly crisped. It was super rich and decadent, but paired quite nicely with their Pinot Noir. The service, just like we experienced at the cellar door, was exceptional throughout the meal. The property itself is also very picturesque so if you arrive early, walk around (respecting the signage, of course) and take photos. Overall, whether you're coming for a tasting at the cellar door or eating at the restaurant, you'll have a wonderful time.

Food was delicious but be prepared for some wait, as service is likely intended to slow you down from any busy life and take time to enjoy the experience and surroundings. No a-la-carte options available - you have to get the set menu. My partner and I got 2x 2-set courses ($85) but split combinations to be able to sample an entree and a dessert across. Here's what we ordered: Barbecued Scottsdale pork jowl - extremely well balanced, equal parts meat and fat, which was rendered well. Dry aged pinnacle sirloin - decent, with really good leek. Though a proper steak at a steakhouse would be better. Braised cressy lamb shoulder - tender, flavourful, but slightly salty. Lots of lentils and fennel was tasty Cheese platter - simple, but best of the dishes in my opinion. Please get this over any of the dessert options (even though I've never tried). We opted for the Brie, and accompanying items were absolutely fabulous. And the manuka honey to tie your cheese stacker together - O.M.G Josef chromy pinot noir - medium bodied, light-medium taste depth Josef chromy Riesling - nice and dry, as described. But I wonder if I may have preferred the sweeter pepik Riesling. Would I come back here for the food alone? Maybe, mostly due to price concerns. Would I bring a date here to impress? Absolutely. Dined on a weekday morning in August without reservation and queue.

I had my birthday lunch at Josef Chromy. From beginning to the end our experience was exemplary. We had the gorgeous Timmy (Tim Tam) looking after us. She made us feel so comfortable and was incredibly attentive and effervescent. The food and wine was divine. Highly recommended on every level. Ps: the Martini special was to die for.

Why......???? I don't understand all the great reveiws for this restaurant. I'm new to the area, and, after reading such great reviews, and seeing some very nice photos, l was really looking forward to an excellent experience. But l was sadly disappointed. The venue, the view, the staff, were all fine, and the food quality was ok. But, with all the huge overheads that are involved in running such a place, why skimp on the size of the servings? The cost of vegetables would be the least expensive part of the meal, so why only put a teaspoonful of lentils and a spoonful of cauliflower puree (and some salad) with the main on a plate? Surely it would be just a fraction of the overall costs to be a little more generous? We came away from our lunch today feeling unsatisfied, and arrived home for a cheese platter and our own dessert to finish off our meal. In future, l was thinking to bring our family and guests here for a great dining experience, but l will now be looking elsewhere, sorry to say.

Thank you to all staff involved in making my partner and myself feel welcome and at ease... We thoroughly enjoyed the wine tour by Ella... The food and services from Josef Chromy Wines' restaurant were above and beyond expectations... So a big thank you to all those who provided high expectations and professionalism 🙏

Lunch at Josef Chromy's Cellar Door & Restaurant. Beautiful garden, very tasteful food, warm service.

A grand luncheon experience. Seating inside is most comfortable. View out is panoramic. Service by all you contact is warm and responsive. Care taken for food allergies to be highlighted. Food is top notch as it should be the high standard restaurant. Wine selection just perfect for meal selected.

This is a review of the Joseph Chrome Wines restaurant. We did not do the wine tasting. We got the set menu for lunch. The service was very, very friendly. The food was delicious. We found the atmosphere very relaxing and elegant environment.

Zoos & Aquariums
Tasmania Zoo is a private zoo housing over 100 rare, exotic, and native species, including primates and Tasmanian devils. Visitors can enjoy the Wild Nights tour to see giraffes, African dogs, nocturnal animals like big and small cats, wombats, devils, and foxes. The zoo offers personalized learning experiences about the creatures from knowledgeable staff members. Animal encounters are available at reasonable prices with friendly and caring staff who ensure the animals' well-being.
This is the perfect family owned zoo. The staff are lovely, it isn’t overpriced, there is so much to look at and there is endless animal experiences. My family and I went during the week and did 17 experiences total between the four of us. We had booked the experiences the night before and our experiences ended up going from 11am-3pm initially however, the lovely woman at the front desk offered us to change this so it was more convenient for us. We got to do ALL our experiences together as a family through the morning with another lovely young lady. We got to pat, feed and cuddle with our animals and spend quality time with them. There wasn’t one inch of this zoo where there wasn’t animals, you can clearly see them through their enclosures as well. There is a variety of animals to hand feed, you can get up close to sheep, llamas, emus, wallaby’s, a donkey and kangaroos. Highly recommended this as a must visit. 💯😁

We had an awesome morning at the Tassie Zoo. We went all out and booked a Meerkat experience as well. The Zoo has a great variety of animals, they were very close and easy to see, easy to follow the map and our son loved the 2 young dingoes. You can hand feed the kangaroos & wallabies in one section and then the farm animals further along. The only animal not on show during our visit were the capybaras. We also enjoyed the gift shop and picked up a few Knick knacks for ur family and friends.

We had a great time and did many of the wildlife experiences which were the highlight. A truly unique and memorable experience for us. The zoo has so many different animals and there is something for everyone. The staff and keepers were so friendly and really made it a special experience. It was so good to see how well the animals are looked after and how nice and spacious their enclosures were. We will be back next time we are in Tasmania!

What a magnificent gem to visit . Beautifully nestled in a quiet spot . The animals have decent and natural enclosures, decent size too . I was treated to have the close encounter with the red panda. Absolutely magical(still smiling ) .. The Zoo team, are wonderful, polite and legitimately caring for the animals. This place feels more like a sanctuary than a zoo.. Serene, green and beautiful. I love the greenery and a wonderful variety of trees and plants too. Mandy was absolutely gorgeous, caring, passionate and warm.. Cannot wait to go back..

Tasmania Zoo is my favorite zoo in Tasmania!!! Definitely won’t miss the devils and wombats encounter here!! Especially the ticket price is lovely ☺️ The animals were kept very well here ( all look healthy and well ). The staffs were kind and friendly. There’s plenty of species of animals to see. A good place to enjoy an half/all day with friends and family here✨

We all really enjoyed Tasmania Zoo. The enclosures are great for the animals. A few were elusive (the Wolf, Lion and Snow Leopard) but there was still so much ro see we didnt mind. Also, we really enjoyed the Jurassic swamp!
Angie J — Google review
The zoo has a lot of animals, some native and a lot of exotic animals, especially monkeys. The enclosures are not fancy but they do the job and you can see most of the animals quite well. The zoo did not accept our student cards as there was no expiration date on it even though we were able to show our official enrollment letters with dates of enrollment, which was a bit disappointing.
Tim G — Google review
The Tasmania Zoo is absolutely beautiful and the perfect location to walk around on a beautiful winters day. All of the animals seemed so happy and well cared for, I really just wanted to cuddle the red panda, it was so cute and fluffy! Would definitely recommend the zoo to any and all age groups.

Gorge Scenic Chairlift, established in 1972, offers a breathtaking 457-meter journey over a vast river basin within a well-preserved natural setting. Visitors are captivated by the stunning views of the gorge from the chairlift, making it an unforgettable experience. The area is meticulously maintained with vibrant gardens and well-kept pathways that beckon exploration.
Best way to get a different vantage point of the area. Don’t be scared, it’s completely safe for all ages, size, shape, gender and beliefs. Get the across and back ticket as both have different angles/views and charm of their own. Highly recommended - you get to see the peacock and wallabies too
Codyiander — Google review
Our first time here from Melbourne, just wanted to try out the chairlift...we were very early so we did not have to wait. We got our ticket straight away. I was terrified to be on my own as I fear heights, but I was lucky that the friendly lady behind me was on her own, so we supported each other during the chairlift ride 😅 We discovered lots of amazing treasures, built and natural...we walked for hours and didn't even feel tired...so many amazing things to see and hear...the suspension bridge was another highlight among others. Definitely recommended spending the day there 👌

Visited Cataract Gorge Reserve – Such a beautiful and relaxing place to explore. The chairlift gives great views over the gorge, and the walking paths are peaceful and easy to enjoy. The peacocks wandering around are a lovely surprise and make the visit even more special. A perfect spot to unwind and take in the natural beauty of Launceston.
Faisal C — Google review
Beautiful place with such amazing views; we took the Chairlift $15 per adult. And walked back down. The peacocks are so beautiful and their sound moves through the Gorge which is absolutely stunning. The views are incredible and they have some pretty amazing walks too. There was a bistro, but we never had a coffee etc. Would definitely recommend for a day outing - wear comfortable shoes!
SDP — Google review
I am afraid of heights but it was a good experience for my family. The chairs are slanted back and move slowly. I did see one particular person who was quite overweight and the bar could not close properly and the chair lift was durable. I also saw little kids, who had a bit of a gap between themselves and the bar and they were fine too. At the end, there were lots of peacocks, some wallabies and other animals

A nice scenic walk and can do hiking around. Not to far from Launceston city. A great deal $6 parking all day good for a family pinic day. Viewing peacock doing a great show on their pretty feather listen and feel river stream contant flowing

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited! Perfect for nature lovers and families with young kids. The area is filled with peacocks 🦚 and wild wallabies that make the experience magical. The breathtaking views, flowing river, and lush bushland make you feel like you’ve stepped into another world – almost like heaven on earth.

This place is a must-not miss when visiting Launceston. The chairlift is such a great experience, from the start to the end. You are first assisted to board safely by very friendly and accomodating staff, and then once you have boarded, you'll be greeted by an immensely panoramic beauty of nature. Along the ride, you'll see the gorge, serene waters, pretty peacocks and the overwhelming feeling to just savour the mesmerising view. At the end of the ride, you'll see Wallabies freely roaming around. The place is perfect for both kids and adults. Will definitely come back on my next visit to Tassie!

Tamar Island Wetlands Centre is a nature preserve located in Riverside, Tasmania. It features a lagoon with a bird observation area, a visitor center, and guides. The wetlands boast a boardwalk that takes visitors through reed beds and offers sightings of various bird species such as swamp harriers, shorebirds, egrets, and ducks.
One of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks. Sign says 3km/1hr return though I clocked 4km/1.5hr return (at a moderate pace with stops). Easy, flat boardwalk, leads out to Tamar Island with toilet & BBQ facilities + a tap.. nice spot for a picnic though I couldn’t imagine being bothered to lug all my gear that far to use it. Mostly same scenery along the walk, though thats to be expected for wetlands. We spotted 16 different species of bird. Visitor centre open from 10am from Wednesday onward. Entry via $3 donation though this isn’t mandatory & it appears locals use this walk for daily exercise anyway 🙂 🦢🦅🦆

Pleasant walk, about 2 klms each way, most is boardwalk but dirt track in parts. Plenty of birdlife in the waterways. Donation expected Information centre wasn’t open despite the posted hours saying it should be.
Wendy T — Google review
This wetland is a place has beautiful and ever changing views. One of my favorite spots to unwind, such a peaceful place, and what you see really depends on the weather, the light, and whether the tide is in or out—so every visit feels a little different. I usually spot black swans, and sometimes ducks or seagulls. If it is a lucky day, you might even see a wallaby or pademelon. And there are always lots of birds around if it is the season. When the tide is high, the water turns into a big, still mirror reflecting the sky, it’s absolutely beautiful. A great place for a quiet walk or just to slow down and take in nature.
Antonia G — Google review
A lovely place to visit. The staff were really friendly and full of information. You can spot some special birds if you're lucky!

Brilliant place, saw some lowland copperheads and a wide range of bird species. The range of habitats is impressive too. The volunteers/staff were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly which was great.

Went there with a nice weather! The staff at the visitor centre was so friendly and helpful💕 The walk way opens 24h, takes 1.5 hrs return with awesome view and vibe, hope we can complete it next visit 🤠

The office closes at 4 pm but the broadwalk can be accessed any time. Plenty of wildlife to look at. We saw a snake at the end of the walk.
