Mole Creek Caves, located in the Mole Creek Karst National Park, cover 1,345 hectares and are home to around 300 caves and sinkholes. These limestone caves feature stunning stalactites, stalagmites, and columns, as well as glow-worm displays and subterranean streams. The main attractions are Marakoopa and King Solomons Caves, known for their accessibility and historical significance.
We visited both the Marakoopa and King Solomon Caves and what a treat it was! Our expert guides Shane and Sue were amazing not only with their knowledge but also the personality they brought to the experience!
Julie W — Google review
Definitely worth a visit! Su gave us a fantastic tour, she was friendly, knowledgeable, and even showed us some fun tricks. She clearly knows a lot about the cave and the creatures living inside. The glowworms were absolutely magical, like stars twinkling in the night sky. It was so quiet and peaceful. The crystal formations were stunning, nature never ceases to amaze me!
Antonia G — Google review
I did the great cathedral and glow worms tour. The caves and glow worms were fascinating. The tour guide we had was really engaging. While I was warned of the stairs on this tour I think it’s very doable for most people. You only do a handful of stairs at a time before a break to look and learn. Definitely a must do while in the area.
Eva S — Google review
Wow! Surreal being in the depths of the cave. Wonderful tour. We had a tour guide who sung in the cathedral part of the cave - i will never forget that experience. It was beautiful. Im not very fit, and thought this may be way out of my comfort zone, but it was definitely doable. Check out the tour times before you go, to avoid any long wait times
Joady R — Google review
It was an amazing experience seeing the Caves, learning how they formed millions of years ago, the grandeur is indescribable. It is definitely a place you need to witness for yourself. I recommend taking the guided tour. John was an awesome guide
Belinda B — Google review
Amazing caves, definitely worth a visit, did a tour of Marakoopa Cave on the underground river and glow worms tour. Guide Renee was very knowledgeable. The formations were beautiful and the glow worms felt like a surreal experience. Highly recommend.
Allanah E — Google review
Great inexpensive activity, not far from Launceston. I loved learning about the caves history. Shannon very friendly and knowledgeable. We'll be back with our children, they'd love it!
Amy L — Google review
I’ve been on quite a few cave tours and I would highly rate this one! (I did the Cathedral and Glow Worm tour.) Saw lots of glow worms, cave formations were fantastic, and there is a river running through the cave which adds an extra dimension. Tour was a good 50mins and our guide Sharon was fantastic. Do the 15 minute nature walk between the ticket office and the caves if you can - very pretty!

Marakoopa Cave, named after an Aboriginal word meaning handsome, offers underground tours showcasing stunning flowstone formations and abundant glow worms. The cave features two tour options: the Underground Rivers & Glowworms Tour and the Great Cathedral & Glowworms Tour. Visitors can marvel at straws, stalactites, crystals, and glowworms during these tours. It's recommended to arrive early for the scheduled tours as they tend to fill up quickly.
We did the cathedral walk. The guide.... she's simply amazing! Full of energies, humorous and bubbly. She simply loves her job and made everyone happy! This is a worthwhile walk to do, and if time permits, I'll do the other walks too. This cave system was very well preserve and I hope they continue the good preservation works.

We went to Marakoopa Cave today. We love caves so we have been many caves around the world. We think Marakoopa really tops it! I think apart from it was very interesting and we could even see glow worms in the cave, Renae made our tour so special! She was very informative, friendly, funny and she was showing us everything with passion! Thank you so much
Juliana — Google review
Great tour of Marakoopa cave. Stunning formations, very reasonable price ($19 per adult) and a big shout out to our guide Shane who was extremely knowledgeable, informative and hilarious. He is a real asset to this company.
Tracey — Google review
As an ex cave tour guide myself, I was blown away by both the extremely competent staff and the incredible cave. Shannon ran her tour better than any I've seen, with excellent knowledge and passion. Angela was fantastic and kept the tour group entertained with her bright enthusiasm. A fellow cave enthusiast I met on tour, and myself, agreed this was our #1 favourite cave ever. I spoke with other staff as well and they were all incredibly friendly and took the time to thoroughly explore my questions. The glow worms are magical, and the cave boasts more decorations than I could elaborate on in a review. Do NOT skip this cave. Can't recommend it enough. Thanks so much to Marakoopa cave and staff!
Jesh H — Google review
Stunning! Can't believe the cave is in this great condition! The rangers are keeping the cave in this mint condition! Give them a call and book in advance! Put on more clothes! Is pretty cold inside!
Kandrew L — Google review
This was the second cave tour our group did under the same company on the same day. The first being King Solomon Caves. It was absolutely stunning, made more so with the underground rivers. Our guide passed on a lot of knowledge and was entertaining as well. And if you're wondering, yes, we saw many glow worms. Would love to explore the third cave one day!
Suha — Google review
Beautiful caves, with an interesting history and unusual features. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the caves and made the tour an unforgettable experience. A little bit cold inside haha

King Solomons Cave is a small but stunning cave located in the Mole Creek Karst National Park, Tasmania. It has been attracting tourists since the 1850s and is part of a network of impressive caves in the area. The cave features delicate limestone formations with sparkling calcite, making it a must-see for visitors. Guided tours are available several times daily, allowing visitors to explore the cavern and its beautiful formations.
A place worth visiting. The staff and tour guides were friendly and professional. The tours run at specific hours so if you arrive early you need to wait until the next tour. I would recommend booking in advance. We wanted to visit the Mole creek cave as well but the tours were fully booked for the day.
Mahnaz — Google review
Absolutely fantastic cave, worth a visit! Stunning formations and Shane, the guide, was brilliant.

King Solomons Cave – A Hidden Gem Worth Every Cent! 🌟 We visited King Solomons Cave and were absolutely blown away by its beauty! For less than $20 per person, this tour was an incredible bargain. The cave itself is spectacular—filled with stunning formations and breathtaking natural architecture that left us in awe. Our tour guide was fantastic: knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the cave’s history and geology. Every explanation was clear and well-paced, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. We lucked out with a small group—just five of us—which made the tour feel intimate and personalized. The whole experience lasted between 45 minutes to an hour, and every moment was worth it. If you're in the area, don’t miss this underground wonder. It’s a must-see for nature lovers, explorers, and anyone looking for a unique adventure at a great price!

King Solomon’s Cave is a must-visit in Tasmania! The cave formations are stunning, and the guides are the sweetest — so kind and patient. They even went out of their way to find a piece of cotton for my father when he felt cold, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Beautiful place, wonderful people — truly worth the stop! 💛
SOUMYA — Google review
I really enjoyed the tour and our tour guide. We were a small group if 5, but you must book in advance to make sure you dont miss out. We ended up touring a second cave under the same company just after this one. It was 10mins away.
Suha — Google review
Absolutely fantastic cave tour and stunning caves. Great to see the dedication to preserving the caves and education about them. It would be amazing to see more education about the Australian Aboriginal history included in the tour education and the Aboriginal name of the land it is situated on to pay respects to our First Nations people. Really loved the passion of our guide he was excellent. This tour is suitable for low-high exercise levels and not too strenuous. There are some tight squeezes in regard to the width of the pathways so some dexterity and able to bend and manouvre is required. I would say some people with disabilities could certainly do the cave walk depending on their physical ability etc. It is not accessible for walking aides and wheelchairs however. Great tour, stunning. Thanks for a great experience in August 2024!
Haylz D — Google review
A truly remarkable experience. This cave was amazing and very reasonably priced. We had a small group and the guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It’s 9 degrees inside this cave so don’t forget your jacket
Bradc — Google review
There are three caves at Mole Creek open to view. The first one was Marakoopa Cave. This had some great stalactites and stalagmites. It also had resident glow worms. The best of the three was King Solomon's Cave. Absolutely packed with all sorts of formations. This Cave is an 11 min drive from the other 2. The third Cave started at the same spot as Cave one but veered off to the Cathedral. So you got to see the glow worms a second time. I did all 3 caves..

Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Mole Creek, Tasmania, is a renowned wildlife conservation center that offers daily tours to visitors. Since 1985, it has been a popular destination for observing native Tasmanian species such as the iconic Tasmanian Devils. The sanctuary provides an opportunity to get up close and personal with kangaroos and ducks while enjoying the natural environment.
Had already been to 2 other sanctuary in our 12 day trip to Tasmania, so wasn't sure if I wanted to do another wildlife park. Well how wrong was I, this was the best place, able to see all animals in beautifully set up homes. Had multiple devils in the same large enclosure so watching the interactions is priceless. The water birds and kangaroos top off a great place, friendly staff, a good variety of souvenirs. Best place.....
Fran W — Google review
Love being able to get up close with our Tasmanian animals. Also love that this sanctuary cares for animals that can't got back out into the wild, or help them rehabilitate. I feel the sanctuary needs a bit of money spent on some areas that are getting a little tired. Its a wonderful spot and I hope they can get a grant to help.
Amy G — Google review
Very fun day! I had a good experience here. Met many lovely animals. It was my first time to pat a little wombat and tassie devil so soft and cute. Recommend be there before 11 am for free interactive tours
Nutnaree P — Google review
I was very impressed with the staff and the overall experience. I also appreciate that they provide social services for the animals and am delighted by the care they provide. I especially admire how they ensure the animals' comfort is not compromised by visitors. The sessions led by experts, where one can learn about these species, are truly the highlight. Keep up the good work!
Shubham N — Google review
I had an incredible experience at Trowunna. I’m really appreciative of all the amazing work they do here. You can tell they really look after the animals and it makes me so happy that they are able to release healed wildlife back into the wild, and have breeding programs in place to boost numbers of these special species.
Eva S — Google review
My partner and I had a wonderful experience at the sanctuary. Seeing the range of rescue animals and how well they were taken care of was great. We took advantage of one of the free guided tours and got up close to a wombat and Tassie devil. It was also great to have a wander to each of the enclosures and hand feed the kangaroos and birds in between. It was a great trip and recommend people to check it out.
Emma B — Google review
Fantastic experience, very friendly and knowledgeable tour, where else do you get to pat a wombat AND a tassie devil. Well worth the trip, you can spend a couple of hours wandering around feeding the wildlife. Go for the beautiful song put out by the albino magpie!

What a brilliant place this is. A variety of wildlife for everyone to see, and the devil’s weren’t worried about coming out to say hi. There are lots of birds, kangaroos, wallabies and wombats. Brilliant work by staff and highly recommend you going in.

King Solomon’s cave was fantastic. Very informative guides. Family-friendly, can be challenging with young children. Several narrow passages, easily navigated by all ability levels.

Beautiful cave with crystal water enter through 2nd entry for easier walk. Also a splendid spot for camping Its free, clean, lots of camp fire spot , a lil stream of water flowing close by. And a fun cow sitcom brewing at neighbour’s field. It was definitely amusing to me There is also a convenient lil toilet

A beautiful place to camp, basic facilities but an amazing cave system to explore so bring a good torch and shoes to wear in the water. The walk to the waterfalls just 2k up the road is also a must do.
Andrew R — Google review
Great spot to camp. Protected from strong westerly winds by the hills. Creek running past. Long drop loos and a couple of wild caves to take a look at. Close to Mole Creek for supplies.
Jeff R — Google review
Tasmania is a fascinating place and there are several cave systems. This one is an old find and has some history to it.
Stephen B — Google review
Loved The short walk to see the falls The easy access to the cave Toilet facility's Vehicle access & Most importantly..... "Drum roll if you will" The spectacular cave's. Most certain the walls and roof of the cave are bluestone, which once use to have a limestone core. The limestone forever wearing down. Each and every year errosion creates new passages and tunnels as the icy mountain water to continues to flow. Inside this wonder, deep within turning ofthe light reveals a different world. "wish I had a proper camera".

Ice cream shop
Melita Honey Farm is located in the charming town of Chudleigh, also known as The Village of Roses. Visitors can treat themselves to honey ice cream while strolling through the rose gardens. The farm offers a variety of honey flavors available for tasting, along with other products such as skin care items and jigsaw puzzles. Inside the shop, there is a glass-fronted bee hive where visitors can watch the bees at work.
We spent a terrific half hour here one afternoon, and probably could have been longer, except we were rushing to do too much. The staff are super friendly and the shop is full of amazing little surprises. There is a great section with ALL the information about bees and bee keeping and honey. And the two best bits, are the extensive honey tasting and the selection of fabulous honey flavoured icecreams. If you are in the area you really shouldn't miss it. Extra bonus: the glass sided bee hive where you can see the inner workings of the bees world.
Derek W — Google review
Such a great experience trying all of the varieties of flower blossom honey flavours along with nut, chocolate, fruit, spice/chili, pollen/royal jelly augmented varieties and taking home bottles of my favourite flavours. Plenty of high quality local bee/honey themed products along with delicious non alcoholic meads, skincare/beauty products, bees wax candles and of course the decadent honey ice-creams!
Simon M — Google review
We were in Tas from interstate and of course had to visit a honey farm. There were about 35 or so varieties of honey to sample. The gift shop is also quite large with sooooo many attractive and unique items to purchase. I bought myself a vase and salt and pepper shakers. The ice cream i tried was also very tasty. Of course items in the shop vary in price, but no one is forcing you to buy. Toilets onsite which is very handy.
Suha — Google review
Melita Honey Farm is a delightful spot to explore and buy various types of honey. The staff are exceptionally friendly, making the visit even more enjoyable. I particularly liked the lemon lime honey, which had a unique and refreshing taste. Visitors have the opportunity to try different honey varieties before making a purchase, which is a nice touch. There is convenient street parking available, along with a few parking lots beside the shop. I also bought some Manuka honey for myself. Overall, Melita Honey Farm is a charming place with a great selection of honey and excellent customer service.
ThianYong C — Google review
Malita Honey Farm is the perfect example of how one beautiful theme can be brought to life in every detail. From the moment you step in, you can feel the love and creativity poured into the place. It’s not just a shop — it’s an experience! 🍯 They’ve got everything from delicious honey tastings infused with unique flavours to skincare, home décor, and an incredible info deck that teaches you so much about bees and honey. Every corner feels thoughtfully curated and full of charm. Truly a place where passion meets creativity — a sweet stop that shouldn’t be missed in Tasmania! 💛🐝
SOUMYA — Google review
I suspect this honey is no longer pure. I recently bought a new bottle of Leatherwood honey and compared it with the one I purchased back in 2020. The older bottle clearly stated “100% pure honey” on the label, but this new one doesn’t. Visually, the texture has changed — it’s become slightly solid and lighter in color, which makes me wonder if the formula or quality has changed. I’ve attached a photos. The bottle on the left was purchased around 2020, and the one on the right in 2025.

Absolutely need to pop in and check this wonderful shop and area out. We enjoyed going out of our way to enjoy the honey and many different products Melita Honey had to offer. We have had honey from our own property many times over the years, from salvation Jayne in SA, to Manuka in NZ and currently a thick dark honey from wild caught swarms in Victoria. I have "sugar bag bees" at my block in the NT, to help preserve the native bee. Hence, the visit to the honey shop. Today we met with a lovely lady who told us about her Tassie honey, and the Leatherwood was absolutely delicious. As a honey LOVER, I plan to buy this particular one again when I am back on the mainland.... It is a must for the honey lover.

Westmorland Falls is located in the Mole Creek limestone cave area on the Mersey River, alongside Lobster and Montana Falls. The falls are surrounded by 100-meter cliffs, creating a picturesque setting with several waterfalls and pools to explore. Visitors can enjoy spotting freshwater lobsters at Lobster Falls or take on various walking tracks near Mole Creek, including the scenic Westmorland Falls trail and Alum Cliffs.
Carpark at trailhead is up a small gravel incline & can fit about 3 cars. Not suitable for caravans as no turn around space. Sign says 4km 2hrs return. We took 1hr return at a medium pace + time at falls. The viewing platform doesn’t have the best view of the falls - you’ll need to climb over the stream if you want a better view. But the walk itself is beautiful, lots of pademelons & track is slight incline on the way to the falls. We weren’t able to find fossils but thankfully someone had left behind a piece of rock containing fossils. Found leeches on our clothes afterwards so be mindful of those.
Sam — Google review
Nice little walk, definitely doesn’t take 2 hours return. We did it in an 1hr15m and that included a stop at the falls and some time to observe the cute echidna foraging in a tree stump! Did manage to spot a small tiger snake as well. There are markers are the start of the trail so we didn’t have any navigation issues.
Miles B — Google review
If you are looking for a nice short hike Westmorland Falls has you covered. Family friendly, with multiple things to see for all ages along the way. The walk itself is 4ks round trip. The track is moderately flat 80% with some small sections of ups and downs. Along the way you'll cross over multiple bridges, boarded walk-ways and stone climbing steps. I took in all the walk had to offer at a relatively slow pace and was at the falls in 40mins, spending 30mins there I was back within 2hrs easily. There was one or two places the track can get muddy if it's rained recently. PROS: - Easy track - Family friendly for all ages - Multiple bridges and boardwalks - Gorgeous falls with recent rain - Sound of running water for 50% of the track 🤗 CONS - 600m before the main carpark the track gets a little rough, I wasn't in a 4wd so parked there and walked the 600m. If you do the same its the hardest part of the walk don't give up, - No pets allowed, - No toilet at carpark

Westmorland falls are just past Chudleigh. I love the directions - Caveside road into Wet Caves road. Turn left when you reach Honeycomb caves. What a beautiful 2 hour return walk, albeit a little muddy. But the mud was worth it - the falls are magnificent. But the special find was the incredible amount of fossils in the rocks below the waterfall. The tree ferns are enormous and so amazingly beautiful. We had this beautiful, amazing, spectacular place all to ourselves. The falls are in Mole Creek Karst National Park. A National Parks pass is required to enter. This is cave territory, too. Mole creek caves are not far away and are guided walks. Honeycomb caves are for experienced cavers only, so we decided that it wasn’t for us. In Tasmania, you do not need to put yourself at risk. There are so many other things you can see and do that you don’t need to. Waterfalls are a classic example. Why would you risk your life at a difficult falls to walk around when there’s waterfalls like this one that are a grade 2 walk. Plus, there are dozens of them. I hope you enjoy this video. It is one of the most beautiful falls I have seen. YouTube @jabindajoey like & subscribe to follow our adventures around Oz

Short 1 hour walk after half km of unpaved road. Beautiful trail with waterfalls at the end. Beware of leaches and be prepared especially when it's wet.... There are trail markers for direction. Can be slippery often..

Loved the walk to the Westmorland Falls. Lots of big trees and tree ferns, the 2 hours return walk was a good workout, but not too strenuous. There are quite a few steps and the track is well marked out. We saw two pademelons on the way. Bring good walking shoes!

A short walk through myrtle rainforest to a modest waterfall. It was quick flowing with 7 days straight of rain and melting snow when we visited. The walk up to the waterfall was relatively easy, but the return was tricker because the third of the track nearest the waterfall was incredibly slippery with mud. Wear good boots and gaiters, or pants that you don’t mind getting muddy. It’s not as well maintained as other tracks nearby like Alum Cliffs, but it’s easy to follow. It took us an hour and a half return including time spent at the waterfall.

This is an easy 2 hour return walk to a great waterfall. The track is natural but easy to follow. Wear hiking boots or old sneakers that you don't mind getting muddy. There is a short stretch of boggy dirt road before the carpark that might be risky for 2WDs if it's wet.

Mount Vandyke, located in Tasmania, was historically significant for the Aboriginal people who sourced ochre from its mines and the Gog Range. They used a network of well-maintained tracks for trading, hunting, and ceremonial activities. The area holds great cultural importance for Tasmanian Aboriginal people today and offers valuable insights into one of the world's oldest living cultures. Hiking up the challenging side from the Roland track is recommended for those seeking an adventurous experience.
Well worth the hike up the hard side from the beginning of the Roland track (veer off very steep hill to the right)

The Gog Range, also known as Toolumbunner, holds significant historical and cultural importance in Tasmania. This stunning area was once a vital source of ochre mined from Mount Vandyke and the Gog Range itself. A network of well-maintained tracks, kept clear through controlled burning, facilitated travel across this landscape. These routes connected key locations like Quamby Bluff to Mount Vandyke and were essential for seasonal activities such as trading, hunting, and ceremonies.
