Nestled in the charming town of Orvieto, Trattoria del Moro Aronne is a delightful spot that embodies the essence of traditional Umbrian cuisine. This rustic eatery offers hearty pastas and an impressive selection of local Orvieto wines, all served in a warm and inviting atmosphere adorned with rock star memorabilia. Run by Manca and his wife Luana, this family-owned establishment aims to create a homey dining experience for every guest.
We had two meals here at oriveto. Chanced upon it and then realized it was previously many years on michealin. Still needs to get a michelin star..though.. time to get thier star back. Wild boar pasta. , tried pegion ( eat with hands ), amazing, ing tiramisu, MUST visit in orivieto. If I had more nights would have eaten daily here..

I wish I could have taken better pictures. The food was outstanding! The best eggplant parmigiana I have ever had. The attentive and caring staff did everything to accommodate our late walk-in. I would eat here for lunch and dinner every day if we lived close by. What a fantastic meal!

This place was magical. They deserve to be in the Michelin Guide again for sure. Don't miss the Lasagna and if they have the asparagus pasta GET IT. One if not the best meal we have ever had!

My husband had dinner here on our one night in Orvieto and would absolutely recommend! Cozy, intimate restaurant and delicious local cuisine. We tried the carpaccio, wild boar pasta, and pigeon. Everything was cooked wonderfully and very reasonably priced. Service was a bit slow but normal by Italian standards. The dining area is fairly small, so make a reservation or be prepared to possibly wait.
Jackie T — Google review
A small restaurant hidden in a narrow alleyway that you almost would not notice close to the Duomo in Orvieto. The chef herself served our table. It was a little hard to communicate in English, but she was very friendly and patient. My favorite was the wild boar stew with chocolate and candied fruits, but the ravioli and nidi di rodine pecorino e miele caldo were both very good, and very rich and filling. Overall a nice restaurant in the old Orvieto town.
Rong M — Google review
We dropped in here for a late lunch and were really "wowed" by the food and service. I had the fava bean carbonara and it was incredible! Good table wine. We enjoyed our meal so much we came back a second time.
Lm S — Google review
Wonderful food and very kind service—my friend and I ate here this evening & had a great time! When we ordered our appetizer, it was strange that the menu did not list the topping on the bruschetta—which I think was a type of pâte. Normally something like that would be listed on a menu—especially since bruschette traditionally have many different toppings, but it was tasty and was served alongside five or six different slices of local salami and prosciutto. The restaurant has a couple of dining rooms that are small and we sat in the front dining room. We stayed for around two hours. we were almost to the first customers to come in and by time we left the place was full. I'll be back sometime!

A Hidden Gem in Orvieto – Absolutely Phenomenal We had dinner at Trattoria del Moro Aronne in Orvieto, and it was one of the most memorable meals of our trip. Important tip: Make reservations. This is a small, cozy restaurant, and we watched them turn away multiple walk-ins throughout the evening. The Wine: Don't overlook the house red – it's excellent and the perfect complement to their dishes. And limoncello at the end of the meal was fantastic! What We Ordered: Eggplant Parmesan (appetizer) – Quite possibly the best I've ever had. Perfectly executed. Bird's Nest Vegetarian Lasagne with Pecorino and Honey – This was Creamy, subtly sweet, and so light it practically melted in my mouth. The combination of savory pecorino with a touch of honey was absolutely divine and surprisingly refreshing. Tagliatelle with Wild Boar Sauce – Pure, rich deliciousness. No tomato in this sauce – just deep, concentrated flavor that lets the wild boar shine through. Steak with Gorgonzola and Chocolate – My husband's choice, and he loved it. Who would have thought it paired so well! It was delicious! Dessert: We ordered both the tiramisu and the "chocolate cake." Get the chocolate cake. It's not actually a cake – it's a warm, molten chocolate mound surrounded by cream. Heavenly. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, and the service was wonderful. This place delivers an exceptional dining experience without any pretension. Highly recommend!

Macelleria Pucci is a must-visit food destination in Italy, offering an exceptional culinary experience. The porchetta is described as the softest, tenderest, and most flavorful ever tasted. Visitors praise the friendly and attentive staff, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant's homemade meats and delicious dishes receive high acclaim. Additionally, the wine selection is fantastic. Despite language barriers for non-native Italian speakers, recommendations from the staff ensure a delightful dining experience.
Oh I’m soooo happy!!! I was waiting for a burger like that for a year and went for a search of it everywhere I could! This place is heaven for the meat lovers, freshly and lovingly prepared at the premises, their beef tartar sushi, cuts of supreme pork and other wonders are like from a fairytale for carnivores. Wholeheartedly recommend ps. The chips were real, hand cut and delicious ❤️

One of the best and most amazing places I’ve visited worldwide! Food out of this world, every bite was a joy. The whole team is super friendly, especially Samantha with her kindness and great tips. A bit pricey, but absolutely worth it!

Wow! I'd like to begin this review with the fact that I'd been waiting years to try this place. I first started following them from the U.S. with the intention that if I ever went back to Italy I would make it a priority to get here. Staying near Milano with a quick trip to Roma, we made a detour so that we could try it. It did not disappoint. While I would liked to have had a tagliere, we had to get the food to go. We ended up getting the porchetta, porchetta chips, guanciale, candy bites, french fries, focaccia, and visciole crostata. The meats and sides were all amazing. I typically don't eat a lot of meat while at home, but I'd move to Terni just to eat at this place everyday. As for the crostata, it was the first place in a while that I'd seen visciole so I couldn't resist getting it. However, while the dough part was good, I couldn't really taste the visciole. But let's not kid ourselves, you don't go to a macelleria for the crostate. Finally, the service was great. The staff are really friendly. We had a wonderful experience and hope to go back when we can sit down and enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Enjoy!!!
Cassia G — Google review
Best place for meat and salumi in the Umbria region. You can both take away or eat in the restaurant. Both places offer top quality food and the prices are quite affordable. Sometime might take some time for the takeaways but it’s worth it waiting.
Marko P — Google review
Macelleria Pucci was not as good as expected, food quality was insane but i believe the place has become too famous which has attracted the masses. Unfortunately this made the service very chaotic and the ambiance unpleasant.
Souto C — Google review
The most delicious Porchetta-everything I've ever had. Also, gracious staff that also speaks English.

We missed the lunch window and they graciously sat us as they were preparing dinner service. I loved the gnocchi and the Caesar salad. The carbonara was a little too salty but that’s just individual taste.

Amazing food: all pasta freshly made! Friendly staff and nice location. Also very good pricing. I would totally recommend this place!

Fantastic lunch during our family’s day in Orvieto. Delicious food and wonderful service. Our 1 year old daughter was able to enjoy the Carrot Soup and Gnocchi with us. Highly recommend for anyone spending the day in Orvieto while exploring Umbria!
Bryon F — Google review
One of our favorite restaurants and experiences in all of Umbria! The patio was breathtaking and the food, especially the pistachio filet, was truly memorable and remarkable. The pastas are all made by hand each day and the restaurant was beautiful and so clean and we really enjoyed our time here. We brought our kids as well and they loved their food. They also had high chairs and lots of space inside and outside.
Matthew S — Google review
A lovely place for lunch or dinner. There was plenty of seating inside and out. We went for the asparagus and speck risotto and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly, also reasonably priced. Would definitely return if we came back to Orvieto.
Timothy K — Google review
Excellent dinner for our last night in Orvieto. Setting outdoors was lovely, even with it being a hot day. We particularly liked the carrot soup, tagliatelle with wild boar ragu sauce and the risotto.
Katie B — Google review
Beautiful food and excellent service. We loved the local natural wines, and the pigeon was delicious.
Rebekah S — Google review
The starter "Pozzo degli Etruschi" is something more than delicious. Great raw ingredients, wisely mixed. Main courses, pasta at first, are superlative. A step down the meat (tagliata), but guys what's the pasta ... Optimally cooked, well hand-preparation, magistral and histrionic sauces and flavors. Oh my God! Super! Desserts very good and a very good quality coffee. 5 stars for starters, 7 pasta, 3.5 meat, 5+ dessert. Good job guys, keep pushing!

Nestled in the heart of Orvieto, Trattoria La Palomba offers a delightful dining experience that transports you to a world of rustic charm. Here, you can savor traditional pasta dishes alongside exquisite wild boar specialties, all crafted with care and authenticity. This cozy eatery captures the essence of Italian cuisine while providing a relaxed atmosphere perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal.
We came specially from Rome to this restaurant to look for the best pasta carbonara. I can officially tell you this is the best pasta carbonara I ate. We also had the beef fillet and it was just mind blowing. I can’t recommend any more on this place, it just so good I wanna live in their kitchen
Omri H — Google review
Nice place with outdoor seating available. I tried a local dish—pigeon in olive sauce. It was a small portion but very delicious and flavorful. My family also enjoyed their meals. The service was okay—don’t expect smiles or warmth. It felt strictly business, and at times, it seemed like the staff didn’t enjoy being there.
Artem T — Google review
Amazing experience to taste a little bit of history. We went there on a Friday night for dinner. I was looking forward to try the pigeon dish. We had a starter with some ham and salami cuts. That was just ok. Nothing special, but not bad. We ordered to dishes, for my wife the boar ragu, that was good and with very good depth of flavour. Myself I had the pigeon with the olive sauce. And that was a very nice experience, the sauce with rosemary and olive oil where the pigeon was cooked was amazing. The pigeon itself I can describe as a lean duck. In general good experience, taste a little bit of history of orvieto with that dish.
Thiago B — Google review
It’s always a big pleasure for my tummy every time I return to Palomba. The food is consistently delicious, and the staff are always warm and welcoming. In the summer, I especially love sitting at the outdoor tables surrounded by the beautiful flowers on the walls — it adds such a charming touch. Thank you, Palomba, for staying true to yourself and not changing over the years. Please never change!
Baiba S — Google review
When in Orvieto this is a must reserve. We visit the city 2-3 times a year and La Palomba is always on our reservation list. Great traditional food. Friendly staff and a guaranteed good quality meals. If you don’t reserve it will likely be full!
Cliff H — Google review
La Palomba came highly recommended by a long time friend and visitor to Orvieto and it did not disappoint. When you are standing of the apex mountain of the most amazing Italian dish you have eaten and you look up you will realise there is a higher apex where they are serving the tagaliatelle alla “Don Marcello”. You simply must try it.

Outstanding food. Best "matricciana" I've ever have in my life. Must try the house olive oil - superb. Very nice wine list. The house wine is a great deal, but you can choose between a great variety of italian wines. Great staff. A place to come back and enjoy over and over.

L'Oste del Re is a charming osteria nestled in the heart of Orvieto, right across from the iconic Torre del Moro and Palazzo dei Sette. This delightful eatery offers a menu filled with traditional dishes at very reasonable prices, making it a favorite among both locals and visitors. The rustic decor features exposed wooden beams that create an inviting atmosphere, complemented by friendly and attentive staff who are always ready to assist.
We ordered the wild boar in three different dishes and also got a Porchetta sandwich. All of it was so delicious! All the meats are gluten free so my wife loved that! Service was great and really cool inside with lots of history!! Really good price too.

The food a this place is good, but the pânico is on of the best I had in my whole trip across Italy. We were there for lunch, I had the beed stew that was amazing, very tender and packed with flavour. My wife had the panino of the season with figs, that was one of the best paninos I ever had. Highly recommend. We went later on the same day for some other dishes, the fungi pasta was very good Special shout out for their house dessert with ricotta, some house made jam and hazelnut. Very good dessert
Thiago B — Google review
This is the worst place in orvieto to get a porchetta sandwich. We should have known that this place was a joke when the proprietor or who allowed us to be seated outside wouldn’t let my son and i to split a €12 porchetta sandwich. Then he would not let my wife sit down with us to just have a beer or bite of our sandwiches which incidentally were horrible (one slice of lousy porchetta and a potato smear). Unless she bought a meal too. Many other better places for delicious porchetta in Orvieto besides this tourist trap.
Dennis B — Google review
Loved the Umbricelli pasta here! We had two and both were delicious!
Dylan H — Google review
We went looking for fresh truffles for lunch and asked if they had any. They told us it wasn’t the season and that only the truffle sauce was available. That was fine, but when we politely decided to leave, their reaction confirmed we had made the right choice. Instead of simply respecting our decision, they responded with arrogance, saying things like “try to find it” and “all you’ll get anywhere else is frozen truffles”, followed by more arrogant comments. Their attitude was unprofessional and unwelcoming. We were grateful we walked out — I’d rather spend my money somewhere that values its customers and we did, in the corner there is another restaurant and treated us very nicely.
Rys J — Google review
˚ ༘ 🇬🇧 L'Oste del Re ♡̆̈. The fresh pasta was quite chewy and a dente!! Absolutely love the texture but We couldn’t try the truffle pasta 😭🥲😢 cos it’s not in the season right now we only got the pasta in truffle sauce🥹

Restaurant
Duca di Orvieto is a renowned restaurant that offers historical cuisine, featuring traditional regional dishes and grandmother's recipes. Another option for food enthusiasts is Casa Segreta, where farmer-chef Lorenzo provides hands-on cooking classes at a local market and country house, accompanied by homemade wines and olive oil. Both experiences promise an abundance of delectable Umbrian flavors and free-flowing wine.
It was a nice restaurant with a homey atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful, and even though I do not speak Italian, I was able to smoothly place my order. The carbonara was served with truffles directly grated over the top, which allowed us to enjoy all the aroma and flavor of the truffles. The bread was a little dry, which was a little disappointing, but the overall impression was good.

Amazing food and service! Very authentic experience at super affordable prices. We had the lemon honey chicken and the Carbonara and they were both incredible! Must go!

Superb. Very interesting, historical take on the menu. Everything was delicious. Service was incredible. They took our dinner reservation for a night they were to be closed by mistake. We got there and the chef had opened the place just for us! Highly recommend.

Chef Adler perfects traditional Orvieto style recipes. Her herbs and spices are unique. The lemon chicken and umbrichelli with traditional ragu used were exceptional!

A must try if you are in Orvieto! Went there for lunch, and the food was absolutely superb! My very demanding Italian husband is still raving about it. Recommend trying the truffle or porcini pasta and the herb roast beef (must have)! They offer some dishes dating back to 500s. The lady owner is amazing, very attentive and passionate about food!
Karina K — Google review
I’m so glad I found this place! They have historical recipes from the 15th and 16th centuries. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with lemon and chestnut honey, a 16th century recipe, and it was soooooo GOOOOOD!! Absolutely delicious! And surprisingly filling. The lady that served me, I’m wondering if she’s the owner, was so friendly and patient with everyone. Also the food was served very quickly. Fast and friendly service along with DELICIOUS historical foods = perfection! In all seriousness, I’m actually planning another trip to Orvieto from New York City just for this restaurant very soon. I need to try all the historical recipes they have!

Stopped here while travelling north on the A1. The place is not right out of the highway, but also not too far. If not in a rush it's a great option for travellers. Staff was friendly and attentive and pasta was really good. There's both shaded outdoor seating and indoor seating with AC. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially with larger vehicles. We had two pasta dishes for dinner. The better one was the homemade pasta with sausage and porcini mushroom even so were not fresh. The other pasta cacio e pepe with truffles was ok. The flavor of the truffle didn't come thru as i had envisioned. They should shave the truffle rather than cooking them in the sauce. Wine list was good at fair prices.

La Pergola in Orvieto is a hidden gem located near popular tourist spots. This family-run trattoria has a cozy dining room and a charming walled courtyard. They have been serving traditional Orvieto cuisine since 1975, focusing on dishes made with local ingredients like truffles, pork, and beef. Their specialties include casseroled wild boar and gnocchi with bacon, spinach, and truffle sauce.
Definitely try this place—delicious! It's as good as I remembered it being years ago when I came here the first time. Everything from my cocktail to the appetizers to the pasta, I ordered was wonderful! On my picture of the cheese tray, note that we ordered a double portion, so double the price! It was served with a delicious apple ginger compote. My pasta, the green one, was a cacio e pepe with mussels and my friend ordered an appetizer of grilled pumpkin (which was served alongside couple of other things) and it was all wonderful. We had a nice local Orvieto Classico wine and the bread here it homemade and delicious! Don't miss eating here. It's easy to make a reservation here on Google Maps also. I will note that the bathroom, while clean, was missing the toilet seat (the 'ciambella') which happens often in Italy, so for anyone who would need to be seated... just a heads-up, haha! It was a very clean bathroom though. it seems they just had one toilet and one sink for all customers.

Pretty disappointed relative to reviews. Everything tasted undersalted, and the service was only so so. Huge wine list and lovely setting
Nicholas M — Google review
I happened upon this place because it was the ONLY restaurant I found open on a January Monday in Orvieto (I walked to 10 other closed locations that were “open” on Google hours). The dining room seemed a little odd, but once I went to the bathroom and saw the incredible patio through the restaurant, I would have much preferred to be seated there. It was not mentioned to me, although I was the only patron in the restaurant when I arrived. As for the food, I was blown away. The Amantriciana with Umbricelli was unlike any I’ve had. Delicious. The house focaccia and loaf were exceptional. I also bake long-ferment sourdough and know a good one when I get one. Tiramisu was interesting, crunchy cookies in the bottom with no coffee flavor, but perfectly not too sweet. As the restaurant filled in, I noticed many people were getting the artichoke and cod appetizer dish, wish I would have added to my order had I more room. People were licking their lips. I may go back for the diaphragm and shrimp bone marrow dish. Brava!
S H — Google review
Read raving reviews about this place and the crowd, so I came early to be the first few customers at the opening for lunch. The menu is seasonal and changes based on the freshest ingredients they can get. I ordered the grilled lamb and a glass of the local Orvieto Classico. Everything is PERFECT! The bread is perfect too! So delicious that even though I was so full from just the main course, I can't help but have another slice! The grilled lamb chop is the best I've ever had from anywhere in the world (other than the freshly grilled whole lamb in Mongolia)! The lamb was perfectly grilled, it has a crunch on the outside (like roast pork) so when you bite into it, the fat crackles but still very tender on the inside. The fragrant lamb fats ooze with each bite! It was paired simply with sour purple cabbage. You know it's pure good food when it doesn't need much fancy stuff. Marination was just right, not salty at all and you taste the lamb perfectly. Heavenly deliziosa! I wish I had a stomach for more but will have to save it for next time!

The staff were happy to take a reservation for our group of 8 in just 60 minutes after we arrived, perfect amount of time to explore Orvieto at night and find drink to pass the time. When we returned the table was set beautifully. Some of us are vegan and vegetarian and they were more than happy to accomodate by altering some dishes. The food and wine was absolutely incredible, all 8 of us were blown away by the presentation and taste of our dishes. It’s not the cheapest dinner you’ll find in town, but it is absolutely worth the price!

It was a sleepy evening in Orvieto and the front of the restaurant was pretty empty but the menu was tempting so we ventured inside. They have an inside courtyard in the back and that’s where the action was. The Baffo Orvientano is for bacon lovers and definitely recommended. We had a risotto which was very good as well as the wines.

We are so happy to find this hidden gem in Orvieto. We had a cod as starter, tagliatelle with black truffle, lamb with hazelnut, and tripe as main dishes. All very good! We also asked for side does-- mixed salad and spinach are both excellent.

Very private and cozy place. My family stopped in for Lunch in June 2019. Staff was very friendly, service was perfect, food was cooked well and tasted great. The prices were very reasonable, and they had a good selection of wine. I would visit this place again if I am back in Orvieto.

Antica Bottega al Duomo is a charming family-run restaurant located near the cathedral in Orvieto. The eatery offers a variety of delicious dishes including hearty pasta, seasonal vegetables, panini with slow-roasted porchetta, and antipasti platters featuring local meats and cheeses. The rustic ambiance and homey atmosphere make it a perfect spot for a quick bite. Visitors have praised the friendly staff who provide excellent recommendations for food and wine.
We had a wonderful meal at Antica Bottega al Duomo! Food was gorgeous and service was wonderful. We had the pappedelle wild boar and spaghetti fungi. For desert our wonderful hostess gave us almond biscotti with desert wine - fabulous. Our only regret was it was our last night in Orvieto and we could not return! Wonderful food, service and value for money! Highly recommended.

Our best meal in Italy! We loved the warm family service and the fresh meat and cheeses. With the bill they brought us this delicious sweet wine with biscuits, and the truffle pasta was delicious. They're so genuinely friendly and the best cooks. Will never forget this place!

The Osteria Antica Bottega al Duomo is a really cozy place with a rustic interior and nice, warm lighting. Prices are a bit on the higher side (pasta dishes around €15–18), but the portions are fine. The Service was okay. The pasta dishes were very tasty, and the tiramisu was light and fluffy. I dislike that they didn’t allow one person to have a menu and one person taking a pasta plate (both or none) and can’t see the reason for that. Another downside: not very sustainable. They use disposable table covers and single-use packaging for cutlery and napkins, which feels a bit unnecessary for such a nice restaurant.

We were in Orvieto on March 9th, and have since visited many other places. Now already in Thailand and I finally have sometime to sit down and comb through millions of pictures. This family-style restaurant is minutes away walking from the grand duomo. A must go! We strolled in around 3pm so it’s quiet. The woman who received us spoke flawless English and was filled with smile and good spirit. She recommended food and wine to us - everything turned out to be fantastically delicious. We ordered home-made red to go with our food. She also generously treated us with after meal wine (strong!) and another sweet wine to go with complimentary dessert (so good!). Check out the emptied glasses on our table😅 A pleasant chat with the owner revealed the story: she had opened and operated an Italian restaurant in North Bergen New Jersey in the US for many years, before going back to hometown Orvieto for her daughter’s education. She and Lucy had a great ‘rendezvous’ about Jersey City over places they knew in common. This might explain all the free treats we were offered😆. When you are in Orvieto and near the Duomo, do pay a visit to this place - you won’t be disappointed, in any way.

Alert alert - tourist trap! Chad comes out and offers you a taste of wine and cheese. Alert alert!!! Ordered wine and never got it, and still tried to charge us. Waiters argued in front of us on whose responsibility it was. Don’t order the veggie sandwich!! Cheese plate looked okay - but how can anyone get that wrong?!

Stop browsing - go here! One of the very best meals we’ve had in the whole of Italy. I had the wild boar sauce on pasta and it was divine. My partner had artichoke pasta in truffle oil and again it was amazing. Service fantastic atmosphere soft and warm. Well priced as well with decent size portions.

Mezza Luna is a charming trattoria known for its extensive menu of regional specialties at affordable prices. The restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with dishes like spaghetti carbonara and grilled local beef, complemented by local Sangiovese wine. Visitors also praise the authentic gnocchi and the creamy, potato-y pasta. While some may find the food to be good but not exceptional, others are impressed by the quality and uniqueness of dishes like lombrichelli with funghi porcini.
You know when people talk about the life-changing meal they had that one time in Italy blablabla, yeah well this is the place and the carbonara is the meal. You may want to fast for a month before you order it because it is huuuge. Honestly. It's enormous and so good (image shows one portion split on two plates). As you're sitting in this little cave of a restaurant you can see a tiny lady through the kitchen window making it in the back. The Chef. The service is very nice too. The lighting is flourescent and unflattering but you're not here to look good, you're here to have your life changed.

Food was amazing! We had the Spaghetti alla Carbonara and the Lombrichelle all’ Amatriciana. The carbonara rich and plenty. We liked the Amatriciana better with its touch of spicy and flavor. We shared the Veal with mushrooms.excellent flavor. I had the house red. It was busy from the start. So no real interaction with server. I would have like to ask more questions, but not possible here. Reservations a must. Our host from our Airbnb made us a reservation. We went back a second time we liked it so much. Prices good along with the sides we had.

Orvieto is quiet and friendly smallish town in Umbria and the food there is exquisite. Mezza Luna is no exception with some outstanding dishes severed by wonderful people in a very "homey" restaurant setting. Nonna would be happy here. The carbonara was very rich, delicious and a fantastic breakfast since I had to take half back to the hotel, it was sooooo much food! This was our last restaurant to visit in Orvieto and we were so happy to have made it in with no reservation. The staff was very generous and graceful to our needs. It will be a joy to revisit this restaurant when we move to our house in February next year. Finche non ci incontreremo di nuovo.

Wonderful literal hole in the wall. This restaurant was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. Their signature dish is carbonara, but our waiter suggested an antipasti and a few pastas to share. A+ excellent experience. Just got out from dinner. What a fantastic experience. My wife heard about it from Rick Steves. Verdura Cotta, sautéed chicory was a 10 as was the spaghetti carbonara, and I don’t even like bacon. The atmosphere is very local with a sprinkling of Americans. Antonio is the star of the show. Just go!

We had lunch at the restaurant. It is possible to eat outside as well as indoors. We opted for indoors even though, we had our miniature schnauzer with us. By the way, we did not have a reservation, the place was empty and we were concerned that the experience might not be good. We were wrong; the food was fresh and yummy and the service excellent and friendly. Tagliatelle with the artichoke with dried tomatoes and ham was perfect and the wild boar stew ,surprisingly ,not gamey at all , delicious ! Many thanks to the chef and the crew

Nice place with pizza and local dishes in the centre of Narni. Good service and possibly to sit both inside and out in the middle of the street. The outside place is shady and cool on a warm summer day and you will really share the street with the traffic. It is possible to find space inside for bigger groups of people. The restaurant accepts credit cards. There is also a shop selling local cheese, ham and sausage connected to the restaurant.

Before our trip I spent considerable time reading reviews and recommendations for restaurants along the way. Il Malandrino Bistrot was our choice for Orvieto, and it was amazing. I didn't get all the pictures but our group had the fritters (tempura!), spinach and tomato salad, vegetable lasagna, pappardelle (with wild boar! yummy!), rabbit and a seafood/shrimp stew. All thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Dolce was excellent too!

We are regulars here because the owner Ricardo is so warmly welcoming and the food is so good. A modern take on traditional dishes and always a menu of the day to keep things interesting. Fried veggies and seafood with a soy dipping sauce as an antipasto, or warm shrimp salad with salsa rosa ( like Thousand Island Dressing) is unusual and delicious. Excellent pastas like the one with porcini and galletti mushrooms I had last week. Cous Cous panzanella is a twist on an Italian standard, and his sou vide cold roast beef with basil mayo is another. Both delicious. Moderate prices makes this the whole package. Worth a detour.

Overall this is a great place! The service is great, location lovely, great atmosphere. The food was good, but felt like it could be much better. We ordered a beef tartar with egg yolk and truffles as a starter. This dish has great potential for those who love tartar, but unfortunately the seasoning was just off. Would not recommend that dish for tartar livers because it's just disappointing. The salad with the fried cheese was nice. We ordered two pastas next, that were pretty good (especially the truffle one), however both were very salty. The terramisu was wonderful!! To sum up, it's a nice place no doubt, but the food can be better :)

a jazz themed eatery. Photos of jazz musicians line the wall and jazz music plays. The amuse-bouche was aspic of zucchini and tomato. Our appetizer was especially beautiful and it tasted good, too. The white is buffalo mozzarella. The seafood tagliatelle was also tasty. The restaurant serves the dishes halved into two plates if you are sharing which is nice. Our next course, cod served with potatoes, wasn't so great. For dessert we had tiaramisu which was delicious. The service was impeccable. For environmental reasons we try to avoid bottled water and so asked for tap water. They provided a small carafe for which they charged. The first time in our lives that we were charged for tap water. The 2€ charge was actually more than the €1.50 cost of a large bottle of sparkling water we had in a different restaurant the next day.

An excellent restaurant located in the medieval part of Orvieto. Immersed in old cellars and rock chambers of the southern slope. The impression at the entrance is electrifying and it only gets better from there. The menu includes extraordinary compositions based on simple, local specialties, but combined in a surprising way. That's why I decided to have pasta with fennel sauce and black cabbage chips. I have to admit that it was the best vegetarian restaurant dish I've ever eaten. On the menu it looked almost banal, but in taste it turned out to be refined and original. In addition, I ordered top quality beef slices with grilled vegetables which I also highly recommend. A beautiful, authentic experience.

My lovely and I enjoyed lunch here with family and friends in 2005 and had a wonderful experience. It was with some trepidation that we returned one score later as we had no desire to diminish the memory. It brings me great joy to report dear reader that Le Grotte del Funaro has lost none of its magic. We had emailed in advance to reserve a table and were delighted to be seated by the window. A view of the rolling Umbrian hills is a glorious adjunct to proceedings. We started with the delightfully fresh panzanella before moving on to the sea bass and the suckling pig with roast potatoes. Both of these were a testament to the ease with which Italian hill top towns producing amazing dish after amazing dish. Washed down with a local bottle of Orvieto rossi this was another meal to remember. We will be back in 2045!

Loved it ! Totally a must do when in Orvieto Located within a underground cave in italy this was the place to visit for our one night stay in Orvieto Before you arrive and enter the restaurant the location is high and you look over the valley which is just amazing view We arrived in sunset and this was extra special - the best time for a photo The staff very kind - we booked and then changed our time due to getting drinks earlier but they were happy to accommodate us which was kind Food was excellent - wine great and bring within a cave very unique Orvieto is a small city perched on a rock cliff in Umbria, Italy. Duomo di Orvieto, dating from 1290, has a mosaic facade and houses a marble Pietà sculpture. The Pozzo di San Patrizio is a 16th-century - Orvieto has many hidden caves but this is the only one with a restaurant within side a cave Very unique - great food and unforgettable night

It is ok, but not a place to come back. The reason we stopped for dinner here is you can watch the sunset from the wall a hundred feet away. The food (especially the spigola) is over salted, probably to mark the deficiencies of preparation, the pasta is so do, and the sauce (cinghiale) is over-salted too. People at the next table were quite happy, though. So it might be just a personal preference.

Another fortunate discovery for us in Orvieto. And very near to our hotel. We had gone to the same restaurant for three of our first four nights and last night decided to try something new. And are we glad we did! The restaurant has an enormous underground grotto where most people eat but we sat on the lovely patio, with a view of the countryside. From our first bite to our last, we were beyond thrilled to have discovered this place. For antipasti we had Panzanella and the Zucchini tartare. Both refreshing and flavourful ( everything tastes better in Italy!) then our pastas were nothing short of spectacular. Maltagliati with artichokes and Tagliatelle with lemon, lime, ginger and pink peppercorns. Again, beautifully served and delicious. We had an apple crumble and a coffee bavarois. A fitting finish to an incredible meal. And our server was lovely and very helpful. We loved it so much that we made reservations for dinner there again tonight!

Amazing opportunity to eat in a place inhabited for 2500 years. Wow! Other restaurants in Orvieto serve slightly better food and this is mainly a tourist attraction, but service is better than in most Italian restaurants where waiters tend to leave you alone for a little too long. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst meals we’ve had in Italy. The staff and setting are nice, but the food was not at all good. Salads with no dressing or seasoning, pasta with no sauce, the cod tasted like a refrigerator and the cannelloni was so hot for the entire meal, which probably meant it was cooked in a microwave. Skip this place!

Exceptional dinner on a drizzly Sunday night in Orvieto. The handwritten sign caught out eye with delicious words like "snail... rabbit... pigeon." We knew we had to find here. Upon entering the austere dining room, is a warm & friendly smile from, we assume, is the owner acting host, who seated us promptly without reservation. We were served warm bread, fresh olive oil, house wine which was a freshly corked bottle of Vino Rosso 100% Sangiovese - bold & dry. We ordered the snails Orvieto-style which was served in a tomato sauce full of fennel - I don't typically care for the overwhelming flavor of fennel but in this instance the unique flavors were welcomed and as the snails were perfectly cooked, it all paired well with the bread (although I did add a lunch of salt). Next, the Primi... Minestrone cuppa & Carbanara con guancale. The soup was literally the most delicious, hearty, flavorful, chunky, unctuous soup which was only enhanced with a drizzle of olive oil. It especially hit the spot on this drizzly evening. The carbanara was silky, glistening and rich with all the flavors of fatty but crispy guancale and grated pecorino. I'll be surpassed to find one better. Lastly, the Secondi... rabbit and pigeon. I've never tried either and absolutely loved both! I picked the bones clean on both portions. Our waist said I had "good fork" which I felt was highest compliments. This is a must try while you're in Orvieto or worth a special trip.

The best meal we had on our entire Italian adventure. And it was an accidental discovery. The gnocchi was potato perfection, they melted away on your tongue. And the wild boar, simple but awesome. Halfway through our meal we switched plates so we both could enjoy these great dishes.

The food and the atmosphere were very good. And the service too untill we realised we had been literally cheated. The story is as follows. They put a plate of ordinary bread and industrial plastic-packaged gricini on the table, which we didn't ask for, nor did they ask whether we'd want it. That bread made it's way to the bill as euro 12!!! (3 per person). So, it was not a price for the unordered bread - it was a service charge. But when I was footing the bill I explicitly asked whether tips were included in the bill. And the lady said "no". An so I left 10 euro in tips. All in all, i was conned into leaving a total of 22 euro of tips on 150 euro bill for what I truly ordered. I believe it's a lie when you charge for smth that noone's ordered and then say that tips are not included. Otherwise the place is worth visiting.

Nestled in the picturesque Valnerina valley, Osteria dello Sportello is a culinary gem that captures the essence of Umbria. Housed in a beautifully restored palazzo crafted from local stone, this charming venue offers intimate dining rooms with breathtaking views of Arrone and the serene river Nera. The menu celebrates authentic Umbrian cuisine, featuring seasonal ingredients like tender meats, legumes, and handmade pastas—all prepared with care in traditional styles.
If there was the chance to add 10 stars I would had done it. This was not just a dinner but an experience. The staff is lovely, the menu is both traditional and contemporary, with a great selection of high quality food and wines. A glass of wine and a small appetizer are on the house. The place is an old palace, makes you feel like you're in a fairy tale. And most importantly: the prices are super fair. We really felt at home, will surely come back.

Amazing restaurant- beautiful setting and a terrace with outstanding views. We were given a perfect table. Food is wonderful - on the posher side of the food we've eaten in Italy ie before ordering you're given an amuse-bouche, with twig-like grissini and a test tube of what seemed like flavoured tonic water! Rest of meal was amazing - steak was a standout as well as the Aubergine parmigiana. We were served by Sarah - English was great, went through the entire menu with us and was generally so helpful and friendly and therefore made the experience a very relaxed affair.

Restaurant up on a hill in an old and interesting building. Very delicious foods, great atmosphere. Especially the desserts, visually very appealing and the tastes are perfectly balanced.

The Osteria is located in the fertile valley of the Valnerina. The area of Umbrian delights. The venue is in a curated palazzo hewn from local rock. Small rooms with incredible views of Arrone and the river Nera - the lifeblood of the valley. The dishes are authentic local and seasonal. The meats, legumes and pastas all delicately prepared in the Umbrian way. My favourite, lamb chops “scottadito” (burn your fingers) because they are grilled over coals. The meals are deliberately not rushed to allow sufficient time to digest ahead of the next course! Slow food! Takes some adjustment when visiting from cities where restaurants force two-sittings on their patrons!

The owner, Fabio, is hands down the nicest guy! We came here on our one night in Orvieto, we had the Malasati and Margarhita pizza, so yummy. The wine is also delicious. The rest of the staff is awesome, as well! Definitely a must if you’re in Orvieto!

Highly recommended by our place the villa where we staying. The service was very slow, we had a reservation for a party of 8. Four in our party did not receive their food after 2 hours of waiting. We tried to pay the bill and leave and we were told 5 more minutes for 45 minutes. We never received the food, but paid the bill and the manager refused to address the issue and did not remove the charge for food we did not receive. We observed other guests did receive their food. It was a very disappointing evening and we will not return.

We placed an order and 2 HOURS later four guest in our party DID NOT HAVE FOOD. THE MANAGER MADE NO EFFORT TO ADJUST THE BILL FOR FOOD WE DID NOT RECEIVE. We had to leave when our transportation arrived. We did note other patrons who arrived after our party, were served. I WOULD AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.

Fit us in for Easter Monday long lunch on what must have been the busiest day of the year (3 other recommended restaurants turned us away) - this was our last hope! Away from the crowds, very professional staff but friendly and tolerant of our pig Italian. Big serves of antipasto, delicate pasta course, chunks of veal for main and lovely white mousse dessert accompanied by far too many big thick fragments of chocolate Easter egg. Mineral water, local wine, coffee, great ambience with tables populated by families with youngsters, millennials with Nana, yuppies (is that still a thing?), old timers; all made this a meal to remember. And, apart from wine, fixed price €35. A splurge, but if you're going to splurge, this is the best value way to do it.

Excellent local traditional food plus excellent pizzas. Quality is extremely high. Service is run by young people, always kind & efficient. Really like home made food, not difficult to be digested nor too salty. Excellent mineral water from the famous Tullia source. Reservation absolutely mandatory, despites the huge number of seats. Location is very convenient, right out of the historical centre of Narni. Ambience is extremely basic, in the basement of an ugly modern building typical of Italian reconstruction time after WWII. But this place is absolutely worth a visit.

Carlo Bravo trattoria is a small, secluded corner of the historic center in Orvieto. The owner's eye is always present at all tables, letting everyone know what dishes to order and ensuring that the food is simple but good. Dishes like crouton with fava bean puree and panzanella revisited with couscous are both delicious, while sliced beef and beef tartare are also fair prices.
We visited Argillae Srl winery and were told by the owners daughter that the amazing food was prepared by Giulia’s husband who is the chef at Da Carli’s. Our lasagne was one of the best we have ever had so hope to go to this restaurant before we go home. Highly recommend the winery too with the tour and wine pairing. Had a great day.

This restaurant in the city definitely serves tasty food. The atmosphere is great, and the outdoor seating is very enjoyable. However, they made a big mistake on our bill and overcharged us by more than €40, which we didn’t notice until we got home. Everything is done manually, so be sure to double-check your receipt before paying.
Artem T — Google review
Disappointing Service and a Meal That Didn’t Sit Well The biggest issue at Trattoria da Carlo was the approach to guests. The welcome wasn’t warm — it felt rather arrogant. We asked to sit in the coolest, most shaded area, but were refused because the table was set for three and we were only two. Only when we were ready to leave did they finally let us take it. Tables for two are also quite cramped — there’s no space for a handbag, hat, or personal belongings. We also saw a family of four arrive, and the mother, who was casually chewing on a half-finished apple, was immediately and strictly told that even finishing it while waiting for their meal was not allowed. The tone felt unnecessarily harsh. To top it off, the food didn’t sit well with me — my stomach reacted with higher acidity, which is very unusual. When service is without love, there’s a very big possibility your stomach will respond the same way.

We are staying in the hill town of Orvieto and wanted a place for dinner that was close by. It’s only a 5 minute drive from our parking spot and I’m glad we drove. It’s not what I’d call “walkable”. It was well worth the short drive! The food was amazing and the service was warm and inviting. We did make reservations (and so did half of the other people eating). They were quick to respond on WhatsApp. The food was wonderful! I had the Umbrichelli pasta with white ragu sauce. It was delicious. My wife had the Tagliatella with black truffle and it was the best we’ve had so far. Dessert was a chocolate mouse with salted caramel and peanut crumble 🤤🤤🤤 Their house wine was also very good and at €15 for a bottle, well worth it. They speak English but we had no issues using our broken Italian. Our server was also kind and helped us with pronunciations 🙂 The view is wonderful. Ristorante La Locanda Del Conte Nitto is a charming restaurant located in the old town of Amelia. The decor resembles an old wine cellar with stone walls and wooden accents, creating a cozy and rustic atmosphere. Guests have praised the excellent service provided by the staff, particularly highlighting Maurizio as a gracious host.
We found this place by chance, and literally because we had been turned down by another restaurant which was already full. We were very lucky to have been turned down. This restaurant is in the cutest little street, with a living room as an entrance. Everything is tastefully arranged, decor-wise, in the style of old Umbrian and Tuscan country houses. The service is excellent, Maurizio is the most gracious host, being present but not invasive. The food is spectacular: the quality of the produce is really high (you can taste it in the raw produce of one of the appetizers, where there is no place to hide). Portions are really generous, you'll walk out very well fed. And the price is surprisingly low when compared to the decor of the place, and the service, both very classy, and, of course, the quality of the food. Highly recommended! UPDATE Since we were so happy the first time, we went back for more and tried different dishes from the menu. We were not disappointed: the tortino the ricotta and pecorino was delicious as well as the Greek salad. But the costata di scottona was so satisfying: a great produce perfectly cooked, it was like butter in my mouth. Once again, highly recommended!

I was really looking forward to lunch here and was so disappointed. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere. It started out ok, but we did notice while sitting there that the lady serving seemed very stressed and other tables waited a long time for most things. It completely fell apart when I waited about 10 minutes after my partners arrived for my main course. It was obvious when we pointed this out that they had forgotten it. Then it was luke warm and the side order of garden green beans also arrived and they were from frozen beans. Obviously we like to eat together not separately . They were gracious to not charge for my main or the beans but this still doesn't really make up for this awful experience. Honestly can't recommend this place.

Tipica Trattoria Etrusca is a charming restaurant located just across the street from the Duomo entrance in Orvieto. The menu features a variety of 'Orvieto style' dishes, offering a unique twist on traditional Italian cuisine. The restaurant offers vegetarian options and is known for its well-prepared and delicious regional food. Guests can enjoy their meal on the patio with a view of the Duomo. The staff are friendly and accommodating, ensuring a memorable dining experience.
I had an incredible dining experience at Tipica Trattoria Etrusca in Orvieto, Italy! The owner and his family were such gracious hosts. He had a good sense of humor and humored my American palate and preferences without judgment. He gave a private tour of his wine cellar dating back to the Etruscan period. The food and attentive service were beyond measure! I highly recommend and would definitely go back!

My family had a wonderful experience here. Food was wonderful, service was fantastic and the atmosphere was just perfect. Very traditional food, great tasting and lots of it. The owner and staff are just beautiful human beings and treated us like family. Would highly recommend this to anyone seeking a non tourist experience. Please take some time to search this restaurant out, you won’t regret it. We will be back for dinner very soon

Fantastic dinner, focus on freshly homemade and unique food of Orvieto. I have eaten there a few times and always delicious. The truffle dishes are fantastic, and if want a truly Orvieto dish, try the pigeon! Andrea and Claudio are the perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful in recommending both food and drinks. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, make sure you look inside as the original arches and floors, plus cellar from the Middle Ages! Close to the Duomo Orvieto.

We had a wonderful, friendly, and entertaining waiter named Andrea. He recommended the their special minestrone soup, and we loved it. If ever in Orvieto (a hidden gem in Italy) this restaurant is a must!

Wow!! Probably my favorite meal during my entire 2-week trip to Italy and Austria. The main guy was incredibly nice and ready to please - I have a lot of dietary restrictions (no dairy or gluten) and he allowed me to create a custom pasta dish, with the ingredients I wanted. The chef also made a noodle free minestrone soup that was delicious!!! Service and food quality top notch!!

I traveled to Italy from late April to early May. On the day before returning to the United States, my wife and I went to Orvieto, a town not far from Rome. The place was full of medieval charm, and I thought to myself that it was the perfect spot to beautifully conclude our trip to Italy. We took the funicular up into the town, visited the famous cathedral and museums, and wandered through the alleys while catching glimpses of the traces of the Etruscan civilization. Around lunchtime, we began looking for a restaurant. After weaving through the maze-like streets, not knowing exactly where we were, we finally spotted some restaurants, and one of them particularly caught our eye. We decided to go in. Inside, it was fairly quiet, but all the outdoor tables were full. The waiters were busy serving the guests outside, and with such perfect weather that day, it was no surprise. As I lingered a bit near the entrance, a waiter quickly approached me and asked, “Vuole mangiare fuori o dentro?” (“Would you like to eat outside or inside?”). Since the outdoor seating was nearly full and one of our group had pollen allergies, we chose to sit inside. The name of the restaurant was Tipica Trattoria Etrusca, which definitely carried the feeling of Etruria. A typical Italian waiter brought us menus and spoke enthusiastically, but since I had already read beforehand that Orvieto was famous for the Slow Food movement and its locally made pasta, I ordered accordingly. We had beef steak, tagliatelle with wild boar ragù, a unique local pasta called umbricelli, and of course, Orvieto wine. They offered Orvieto as a house wine, so we ordered a full liter. Orvieto is renowned for its white wine. In fact, I had known about the town primarily because of its wine, long before visiting. I had studied this very region back when I was attending wine school years ago. Sitting there with a glass of Orvieto wine in hand, I felt a deep sense of gratitude and wonder—“So this is where I finally get to drink it.” The taste of the local wine was unlike any white wine I had ever tried. There was a honey-like aroma, and although it was a very dry wine, it carried a subtle sweetness along with refreshing acidity. It was like someone who had only ever eaten spicy bibim-naengmyeon suddenly discovering the true flavor of mul-naengmyeon. The wild boar ragù was so delicious that I couldn’t help myself and asked, “Mi può portare un po’ di pane per fare scarpetta, per favore?” (“Could you please bring me some bread so I can do scarpetta?”). At this, the waiters gave me a thumbs-up in approval. But this time, the owner himself came over. “Do you know how to do scarpetta properly?” Instead of answering, I simply used the bread to wipe my plate clean and enjoyed every last bit. The owner, however, didn’t quite look Italian to me. “E lei italiano?” (“Are you Italian?”) I asked. “No, sono egiziano.” (“I am Egyptian.”) Ah, that explained it. I decided to change my greeting. “Salam aleikum” (“Peace be upon you,” the Arabic greeting). His eyes widened, and he immediately replied, “Aleikum salam! Are you Muslim?” I noticed his English was excellent, which of course made sense—running a restaurant like this would require speaking multiple languages. “No,” I replied, “I am Catholic, but I respect my Muslim brothers.” At that, this cheerful, over-the-top owner called over the waiter who had been serving us and insisted that we take a photo together. We laughed, took pictures, and most importantly, enjoyed one of the best meals of our trip. I couldn’t help but say, “Now this is truly authentic Italian food.” A proper meal doesn’t just double the joy of traveling—it also deepens the memory of it. I would love to return to Orvieto one day to enjoy this food again. And I sincerely thank the restaurant staff who made our visit such a delightful experience.

We travel to Italy more times a year, and like to visit different regions and try the local dishes. We were looking for this experience in Orvieto too. This restaurant was perfect - it was quiet at lunchtime, we were very happy with the meal, the wine selection and our waiter, Andrea. Also our dogs were welcome and got fresh water (and refills...). Thank you for the superb service, we highly recommend this restaurant!

We decided to make a Corot pilgrimage to Papigno. It did not disappoint. The only restaurant we found open for lunch on Sunday in town was this Sicilian seafood restaurant. How lucky!! The mussels were some of the best I’ve had lately, the orata was perfectly cooked and a good cassata. We also had some great local white wine as well. Nice staff. A perfect meal for a perfect day. Will definitely go back.

Amazing place, perfect for a relaxing lunch/dinner. Fish as good as the one you can find in Sicily (where the owners come from) which is quite surprising given that Umbria has no access to the sea! If you are around to visit the hills of Umbria or simply after a nice stroll around the Marmore falls, this is the place to be. I would recommend the ‘antipasto misto’ which is made of 5 cold and 5 hot started. Bravi!

Lovely place to eat. Extremly nice and rich portion of meat. Chocolate cake missing a bit of a sugar but I guess that's just me and my sugar addiction xD Lovely and nice staff! Notthing else to add.

If you are looking for a fish restaurant in Umbria because you are tired of lentils, charcuterie and meat, keep looking? Thia place States on their website that all their fish is fresh. Then you look at the menu and you notice they have an asterisk next to almost each item stating it could of been previously frozen, doesn't sound very fresh to me and didn't taste like it either. The place always has a decent crowd but it's mostly locals who have no other choice. I would avoid at all costs as the quality is just not there and there are plenty of other options around the area highlighting the food of Umbria. After all, isn't that one of the reasons for coming to Umbria in the first place?

Four of us had lunch today. What a find. Very good value set lunch. Beautifully cooked. Choice of 3 pastas. Interesting main courses - the tuna in particular was superb. Lots of different vegetable choices. Ice creams were really good. Good wine list. The service was delightful. So helpful and enthusiastic. Pleasant setting. We hadn’t booked - we got there before 1pm and had a nice table - but it was very popular so it might be sensible to phone ahead. Excellent food and fairly priced. Recommended.

Especially the tagliatelle with hare ragù and white chocolate, and the gnocchi with beetroot, honey, lavender, and Taleggio cheese. The pork ribs were incredibly tender, but in my opinion, they should have used a little less BBQ sauce (it overpowers the flavor too much). Not sure why the name, Carpe Diem? The establishment is a far way from seizing the day! The interior is dreary and tired and in desperate need of a deep clean. The menu has some local offal delicacies for the brave explorers. The environment did not instill the trust I needed to be adventurous. However, the Jamon Seranno served with bruschetta and tartufo was a great combination. The two cirioli dishes were disappointing for an area that prides itself on this type of pasta. Sadly not a franciacorta in sight!

We had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. We ordered food and drinks, and while the drinks came fairly quickly, about 20 minutes later a waiter came back to tell us that 3 out of the 5 dishes we ordered weren’t available. The menu is already very small, so it’s hard to understand why they couldn’t inform us right away. By that time, we had already started drinking, so we had to pay for the drinks and leave to find another place to eat. The dishes on the menu were also quite confusing — nothing really classic or clear, just strange combinations that didn’t sound very appealing. Would definitely not recommend this place.

Most ridiculous and unfortunate place to stop for lunch in one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. Save yourself from the headache of dealing with ignorant non Italian people serving food that's expired. They most rude people I have met in this beautiful city. Most disappointed ☹️😞 they make soup one bowl at a time and only had one bowl of soup to serve , because they use fresh ingredients and only had enough fresh ingredients to make one bowl of soup to serve their first customers for the day. Second request on menu was also not available. We chose to leave and paid for the order we never received. Folks don't waste your time at this place.

So many wonderful options for vegetarians, vegans and even a tough customer like me, vegan and gluten free. The service is very friendly and helpful, and there are English speakers in the staff. I hope to come back here again.

Trattoria Tiberina is a hidden gem that truly captures the essence of Italian cuisine. Nestled in a picturesque location, this charming eatery comes highly recommended by locals and travelers alike. Visitors rave about the delicious food, particularly the pasta, which reflects the rich culinary traditions of Umbria. The family-run establishment offers an authentic dining experience at surprisingly reasonable prices, making it an ideal stop for those on their journey to Le Marche or simply seeking a delightful meal.
This place was fabulous! Some of best food we ate in Italy was in this place. It came highly recommended by our Airbnb host and I'm glad we visited. I was a little surprised that the food was so well priced too. Very authentic. Highly recommend!

On a cute side street in Narni, it’s quite pretty, but not got a view over the countryside like the restaurants nearby, and the food is average - it very much depends on the dish, the local egg/truffle and truffle pasta dishes are probably better than cod for example.

Loved the Trattoria dell'Orso down home cooking restaurant! The food was amazing and the service was spot on. Specializing in dishes with truffles and game meats, this place is a must-visit in Orvieto. The tiramisu was also fantastic!
Amazing Restaurant! What an amazing little place off the beaten path! Being vegetarian there were a good choice of items on the menu. The truffle pasta was absolutely amazing, as well as the tomato bruschetta! Be sure to get one of their fantastic desserts. We had the tiramisu and pistachio semifreddo, along with the l'orvietan amaro. Which we ended up buying a few bottles at a local shop. The service was impeccable. A must if you visit Orvieto!

This restaurant was recommended by both our accommodation hosts and by a good friend who is a long time visitor to Orvieto. We made a reservation earlier in the day to ensure we could secure an outdoor table. The staff were very welcoming, attentive and friendly. My lovely described the lamb as “Bellissimo”. Cooked to perfection. Having completed the tour of the Orvieto Underground earlier in our visit I finally took the plunge and ordered the local delicacy - piccione (pigeon). It was cooked well and I am glad to have had the experience. The house red was more than acceptable - a lovely drop. With the visit.

Authentic Umbrian cuisine at this cozy trattoria located on a small street near the Piazza della Repubblica. The decor, service, and food were all characterized by understated elegance. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience after a day of exploring Orvieto.

A hidden gem in Orvieto. We stumbled upon this restaurant on our 1st evening in Orvieto. We did not have a reservation, but they were still able to seat us at one of their outdoor tables. Which was perfect for us. The service was excellent. The food and wine were delicious. We will definitely go back next time we are in Orvieto.

Wonderful little Trattoria, chicken cacciatore was the highlight. Umbrichelli with truffle and cinghiale rags was excellent.
Stephen D — Google review
I had lunch at Trattoria dell’Orso and was very disappointed, despite the high ratings. The service was inconsistent: one server (wearing glasses) was extremely rude — he never looked at me, spoke only in Italian knowing I couldn’t understand, and even turned his back on me when I asked a question. It felt xenophobic, something I’ve never experienced before in Italy. The other server, however, was polite and professional, and the only reason I give two stars instead of one. To make matters worse, my table overlooked trash bins on the street, which spoiled the atmosphere, and the food itself didn’t make up for the poor experience. I would not return, and I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Nestled in the heart of Orvieto, Enoteca al Duomo is a charming wine bar and restaurant that perfectly captures the essence of Italian culinary tradition. Just a stone's throw from the iconic cathedral, this family-owned gem offers an inviting atmosphere where you can savor delightful local wines alongside a delectable array of cheeses and cured meats. The menu features traditional Umbrian dishes, including mouthwatering pasta and succulent pork specialties, making it an ideal spot for a light lunch or an afternoon aperitif.
Enoteca al Duomo is a special place that captures the spirit of Orvieto. Emiliano and his family moved here from Rome over twenty years ago searching for a slower and more fulfilling way of life. You can feel that sense of peace and pride in everything they do. The view is world class and one of a kind, and the umbrellas offer the perfect shade for a long lunch or a glass of wine. Emiliano’s kindness and sincerity make you feel like an old friend. If you are looking for an authentic and gracious experience, spend time here and support this wonderful family.

The restaurant enjoys a great location and offers an appealing, thoughtfully crafted menu with some really interesting choices. The food itself is worth a visit. Unfortunately, the experience is undermined by the service. Staff tend to be stiff and come across as condescending, which can make guests feel more judged than welcomed. The food is of high quality and would be perfect for a seafood lover like myself. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Terni.
By far the best seafood in the region of Terni. The whole Branzino (or Spigola - Sea Bass) and the Orata (Gilt-head Bream) were spectacular. The service was excellent and the prices reasonable for the quality and quantity of seafood. We'll be back

Grechetto wine and lemon sorbetto at the end. Good quality for price. To be suggested

Even if Umbria isn't washed by the sea, la Locanda del Poggio offers the most delicious, freshest seafood meals that you can get around here. I suggest to get "menu fisso" that includes a great variety of warm and cold antipasti, different kind of pasta or gnocchi, fried seafood, giant shrimp, wine, lemon sorbet, coffe, grappa and limoncello. Don't expect to feel hungry after that! Portions are huge and food is really well seasoned and cooked. If you are a tourist in Umbria i think this place is worth to spend lunch or dinner also because the view of the surrounding mountains leaves you breathless. A reservation is suggested because the place is always full.

Ristorante Da Gregorio, a family-run establishment, offers a remarkable dining experience. The son impresses with his exceptional service and extensive knowledge of food and wine pairing. The restaurant boasts a simple yet charming decor against the backdrop of vineyards. Their menu consists of regional and family dishes prepared with high-quality, fresh, and seasonal ingredients.
This was an incredible and heartwarming meal. GREAT food and wine, with a pretty creative and diverse enough menu which was a godsend given the recent similar meals we’ve had in Montepulciano and Orvieto. We got tailored recommendations as well as customized wine pairings for my boyfriend and I respectively since we had different dishes. The family was also flexible enough to allow us to do half portions for the pasta dishes, so we can also try the off-menu items (and the portions were still plenty!). But what’s special about this family-run business comes down to the sincere care and attentiveness that shone through Davide and his family’s service throughout our dinner. Upon asking for and getting your typical mosquito repellent, Davide, the son, proactively went aside to get me a natural plant remedy, followed by his father offering up a treatment cream to use after the fact. And when I went to ask Davide to do something celebratory on the dessert for my boyfriend’s birthday, before I even said the word, he told me his plan to do something special. He remembered my very brief comment over my phone reservation more than a week back, and said “that’s my job” - I appreciated the professionalism and attentiveness. Sometimes what differentiates a good meal and a great meal is really in the details and safe to say Ristorante Da Gregorio really lived this up. Highly recommend a drive to this super quaint town just for this dining experience!

Visiting Da Gregoria is an experience in service, hospitality and outstanding cuisine. Davide, our server and sommelier described all food offerings in incredible detail with flexibility to try many courses. The food is all seasonal and locally sourced. The wine matches are unique and thoughtful. The food preparations are flavourful and well presented.

Absolutely delicious and pleasantly presented. I loved the celebration of the last tomatoes of the season by featuring a simply presented and herbed grilled beefsteak tomato appetizer. The atmosphere is peaceful. A very pretty location. Professional, excellent service. My one reservation is to be careful with how they serve the wine. They give roughly 2 once pours. You think you are at first tasting the wine but when they pour another 2 onces into your glass this counts as your 2nd glass. It adds up.

A Hidden Gem in Umbria – A Culinary Delight! We stumbled upon Ristorante Gregorio quite by accident while en route to Castello della Sala vineyard in Umbria, and what a fortunate detour it turned out to be! From the moment we arrived, we were treated to an unforgettable dining experience that was both authentic and full of heart. The food was nothing short of exceptional. Every dish featured locally sourced ingredients—succulent wild boar, tender rabbit, perfectly cooked steak, and herbs fresh from their own garden, all brought together with their own olive oil. The flavours were bold, rustic, and true to the region. A special mention must go to Davide, the sommelier, whose knowledge and passion for food and wine elevated the experience even further. His handwritten wine list was a charming touch, and his pairing suggestions were absolutely spot on. It’s rare to meet someone who delivers their recommendations with such genuine enthusiasm and depth. We originally came for lunch, and were so impressed that we returned two days later for dinner—both times equally memorable. It’s not often you find a place that leaves such a lasting impression, and we’re so glad we found it by chance. A well-deserved 5 🌟 from all of us. We’ll definitely be back when we return to Umbria next year. Grazie mille, Ristorante Gregorio!

At first everything was fine, nice place, normal service, there is a fish menu for those who do not eat meat. Large selection of wines. Before leaving I noticed a large selection of rum, and since I like to try unusual rum that you will not find in a regular bar, I asked for one glass. In general, I am used to the fact that in tourist places a good unusual glass of rum in addition to a plate of chocolate and fruit will cost 12-15 euros per person. But in this restaurant just drinking rum at the bar before leaving cost 25 euros ;) something to think about when visiting this place. Otherwise, everything is ok ;)

Lovely location on the lake . Food is excellent. Good selection of pizza and some meat. Generous portions, the price is correct. Book in advance as the place was fully booked mid-week at end of July. Service was alright to start either and then slowed down which dampened a bit our enthusiasm. overall a good experience.
Valeria F — Google review
Unwelcoming service, mediocre quality pizza. Don’t understand the average 4.3 rating. Doesn’t represent the quality of our experience at this place. We arrived 19.00. Although it is stated here that the place opens at that time, we were sent away with the info that they open at 19.30. When I looked surprised I was asked if we wanted to make a reservation. So we did. When we came back at 19.30 there were 3-4 tables already filled (so others were allowed to sit down earlier? Btw: a more elegant way to receive a customer would be to offer them to sit down and have a drink, informing them that the kitchen only opens at 19.30.) Despite lots of tables being available when we arrived, we were placed at the most remote table of the place, where 2 of our party of 4 were facing the wall. (Plenty of tables remained available, some for the whole duration of our meal, so telling us there was no other table free to offer us a nicer view of the lake at the time we arrived would not be an adequate explanation.) When the pizza’s arrived, they were tasteless, rubbery and soaking in oil. (I should have read the 1-star reviews here, I see now, because that description also provided by others looks familiar; but we originally went by the average 4.3 scoring - which is very misleading). We had ordered one of the more expensive wines on the menu (the Montefalco). The wine itself was fine, but when it was served, the bottle was simply opened and the wine poured into our glasses, without letting us taste in advance. (Which is customary practice for any decent place to eat, especially in Italy, where usually good quality food is served with pride.) During our meal, we saw another couple who apparently were not happy about the quality of their pizza. The owner/boss came out and started quarreling with the couple… All in all: the location on the lake is the best thing about the place. The wine (that was good thanks to the winery, not necessarily to the credit of this place) tasted fine, but was served sloppily. Being first sent away, and then offered the most remote terrace table with restricted views made us feel “tolerated” rather than welcomed. The pizza’s were below par - and certainly not the quality we expect to be served in a 4.3/5-rated pizzeria in Italy.
Yvette G — Google review
We had great pizza's. The service was also very friendly. Highly recommend
Danny L — Google review
The manager was an absolute rude one. I asked a question about what was on the bill, and instead of simple answer you were arguing and defending for no reason. I dine often in Italy since I live here. I work in restaurants for nearly 20 years and I know what are the service charges. What I want to say there was no need for you being rude and raising your voice. I didn't expect any special treatment, simply you don't talk to people that way. It is simple manners to have in relation with others. And you continue to fight here on the review page. I don't speak to anyone like that, especially to my clients that I serve.

We also ordered the formaggio starter, but received the full salami and formaggio starter. It was really good, but more food than we wanted. I honestly don't know if it was a mistake or not because there definitely wasn't a language barrier. Otherwise we enjoyed our meal and evening there! I also heard another guest arrive later than us say that he was told to order the rosé because it was special in some way. Hopefully you'll get the chance to give it a try!

Amazing place with outstanding food. Glad we stopped by.

Recommended this restaurant from the local hotel we were staying at. Unfortunately didnt have the best experience. We ordered our food and then were asked what we would like to drink. My wife asked for a cola which they don’t serve… yet no alternative given. My friends just ordered water and I asked for a red wine. I then even asked if they had anything such as lemonade etc which again was shot down with a no. Our drinks arrived and I was presented with a full vase of red wine. I mentioned that I only wanted a glass to be returned with “ you should have said “ ( considering my friends had all being asked what they wanted to drink and my wife all replying I thought this would of been obvious and in my defence if the server was unsure maybe they should of asked me - after all I’m the customer ???!!. Anyways onto bread gate - we were served bread in a bag ( yes customary some places) without any plates to start, we were nearly done with the bread when the after thought to put some plates out began. My friends whom are vegans had pretty good food throughout and they were relatively happy with their food. My carbonara was fine very authentic. However my second meal and what my wife had as her main - grilled beef fillet - well I can say I’ve never had such an awful fillet steak in my life - I’ve eaten all over the world previously working with the formula one Grand Prix circuit so I’ve had Italian beef fillet plenty at the likes of San Marino in years previously. The fillet was burnt on the bottom which left a charcoal and a hard crunch bitter taste. The whole fillet had so much fat in it, was it even a fillet. My wife had similar issues with her steak but it was nothing on par with mine. I picked apart what I could and left a deconstructed piece of meat on my plate ever clear for the sever to see and ask me if anything was up. Or how was your meal etc. But no nothing not a word… even when clearing up the half drank glass of red wine that the server accidentally knocked over smashing the glass on the floor. Not a word. They offered to replace the glass of wine and I just explained it was fine and the moment had now gone. We all finished up and I asked for the bill, taking myself to the bar to pay it so we could leave. The server reduced my bill by 2 euro to compensate the wine that was knocked over- I chuckled and was polite just saying I was not bothered what the bill was I was happy to pay to go. Maybe they were having a bad night I don’t know. But my personal experience was bad and it so disappointing after being recommended it and also reading all the good reviews online. I hope it was just a blip but for me I would not return as there were so many issues which could have been rectified if the establishment had wanted to put some effort into my groups experience.

Good things: Food wise, menu is very interesting and typical of a zone. Pasta was delicious. Bad things: service is ... weird. We found shreds of broken glass on the floor that our dog was about to eat, picked up one piece and gave it to the waiter who said "sorry" and ignored the rest of the glass. We moved the dog to another side and told a different waiter about the glass, he also said "sorry" but ignored the rest of the glass under table🤷After we asked for the conto we waited for another 15-20min although staff was not busy, after which I just went directly there to pay. Was met with quite a strange attitude. (Just to add, we had an Italian with us and we're ordering everything in Italian, and our impression of the service was the same)

The restaurant is very nice. It has a "medieval" feel and it is located right in the center of a medieval town. The menu has all the essentials with no frills. It is real homemade food so, as it is written in a notice outside, if you want to eat there you should take it easy and wait for the necessary amount of time for your food to be ready. It's very small so I think that reservation is more than advisable.

Pizza restaurant
Pizzeria Charlie, a renowned establishment in Orvieto since 1989, is a local favorite for authentic Italian pizza and wine. The restaurant's courtyard offers a delightful open-air dining experience during warmer months. While it may be popular with locals, visitors are also welcomed warmly by the attentive staff. Guests praise the warm hospitality and exceptional food, including the must-try liver pate paired with sweet wine.
This place was recommended by our Airbnb host. It was the best meal of our trip. The service was excellent. I have Celiac and need to eat gluten free. Staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free foods and took good care of us. The food was delicious. Would definitely recommend! If I’m ever back in Orvieto, my husband and I will be back for sure!

I had the salmon pizza, Pizza Diavola, and tiramisu — everything was just great! The pizzas were flavorful with perfect crusts, and the tiramisu was a delicious finish. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere made it a great dining experience.

We came across Charlie’s earlier in the day and were slightly disappointed we hadn’t found this restaurant sooner. Later in the day, we arrived at another restaurant where we had reserved a table but had to walk away as we were told our family of 5 would need to sit separately. We thought we would try to get into Charlie’s… we arrived and the lovely gentleman found us a table. The atmosphere was lovely with tables well spaced between other customers, the eating area was lit by soft lighting adding to the atmosphere. Staff were warm and welcoming. Service was excellent. Good was wonderful. It was a fabulous meal for our final night in Orvieto. So glad we came across your beautiful establishment. It comes highly recommended. Thank you!

A beautiful little restaurant tucked away in Orvieto with a pretty lit outdoor seating area at night perfect for smaller groups of people. Delicious pizzas; the mattonella with Gorgonzola and pears was amazing, and all pizza sizes are perfect for one diner. Prompt service and excellent prices!

The service was terrible. After taking our order and bringing the salad, our waitress never came back, like ever! (A different person brought our pizza.) Had to get her attention for the bill. Like we didn’t exist, so weird. Food and atmosphere were nice though.

Absolute gem of a place. Five star setting, service, location and food for very reasonable pricing. We loved it and will for sure go there when we are back in Orvieto. The staff and setting are just spectacular!

Sicilian restaurant
Le Terrazze Di Piediluco is a pleasant eatery with delicious cuisine that combines Sicilian and local Umbrian flavors. The dishes are creatively prepared, reminiscent of a more upscale establishment. The location is attractive, offering beautiful views of the lake from its terraces, which surely make for a delightful dining experience in the summer months. However, one downside is that during our visit in winter, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold due to reliance on only a gas stove for heating.
Love food delicious staff are freindly smiling

Awkward experience! We choosed mix crudo for two which was nice but totally insufficient for 2 persons and one Ciriole with river shrimps in tomato sauce, 1 dessert...we spent 42€ per person. When I complained that the dose was not enough, the owner replayed quite sharply and in a arrogant way...I DO NOT recommend this place it is ridiculous! Bye bye

We visited here on our honeymoon in 2011. After walking through the main street it was the only restaurant we found open in the evening. At the time none of the waiters spoke English or German so we had to communicate with a lot of pointing and gesturing. We all had a good laugh. Nice food and the wine was so good that we ordered another to take with us on our travels. One of the best experiences of our trip and a story we tell to this day.

I was warned by some weak comments in the rating, which were sounding quite balanced...so I was aware that this will not be as special and excellent as the rating promises. No complaints at all...just the food itself is highly overrated from pov. The food was indeed okay...the ideas behind it...even though the taste they wanna create is regrettably in the end mostly covered by imbalanced ingredients, which cover up other flavours. I had the Parmigiana noodles with spada, which were not bad at least...but the super weak tomato sauce was destroying the whole image. I can recommend this place nevertheless and to me the service was good 👍. The location is okay, not directly placed on the shore of the lake; but you can see it from the terace. Best regards and normally I would have given three stars...but I left the price benefit ratio out of rating.

Nice service, good food, decent presentation of the dishes and reasonably priced. The dishes are sort of a mix between sicilian and local umbria cuisine, and they deliver the creativity you may expect from a more refined place. Location is nice, and albeit we went in winter, i bet the terraces are very pleasant during summer overlooking the lake. The only issue during lunch was the cold. The place was freezing cold and made the eating experience a bit uncomfortable. It seems that there is only a gas stove heating up the place that started to be warm long obly with the body heat of the patrons after we arrived and the place got full.

If you love seafood then this is the restaurant for you. If you don’t, go elsewhere because the entire menu is seafood only. The waiters were very friendly but the service was appalling. We waited 50 minutes for the first course (pasta for the kids), and a further 40 for the mains. Also they charged a cover charge (coperto) per person which I am never a fan of - especially as it was not mentioned on the menus. This was the charge for 4 pieces of bread? It was the most expensive light lunch we have had in a long time. Two main courses and sides, two pasta dishes and 4 soft drinks and it was nearly €90.
