Came during Mother’s Day, so many cakes were not available. Prices here can be on the high side. Truffle bar bread cost RM24. Good pastries, expensive for Penang standard. Hot chocolate was better than their coffee. Place was packed but service was generally good.

I try only this cake.. buy only one because it's too pricey for me. But I enjoy this experience Soo much. Enchante is a layered cheese cake. Biscuit base, rose cream cheese mousse raspberry compote raspberry rose lychee cremeux. So the top layer has the richest sensation, sweet sour and flower fragrant aroma. The white cream cheese has mild rose fragrance. And the filling is sweet and a bit sour. I love this sensation, will come again for lemon cake❤️

Overpriced but not bad when you have certain cravings at a certain time. It was the only pastry shop that opens early and we were craving for pastries. So kudos on being the early one 9am ..although we are used to pastry shops being opened earlier in other countries. But this will do for Penang and Malaysia 😂 The pastries are good. We came here twice now, only not happy with the scones being served with butter instead of cream...I find it weird in my 2 decades of dining in 5* hotels and restaurants. They have really good looking desserts which are exhorbitant in price, but maybe it just shows the limited skillset we have in this country. All in all, a good place to come to if you are in this part of the world and need some good pastries and willing to pay.

Bought fruit danish for RM 13. Generally price on the steeper side. Most cakes ranging from rm20 and above. The pastries are delicious. Can get other pastries as well (croissant, pain au chocolat, etc). Ambient cafe environment with helpful staff. If not into sweet drinks/coffee, they do provide plain water for free. However, parking is a disaster here. Could hardly find any parking place. There is a private parking lot situated within 300m from the store but still quite full.

Cute little cafe in George Town. We stumbled upon this cafe while walking around and decided to pop by for a drink. We had lemon tart (RM 27), Ice Chai Latte (RM 16), and Ice black coffee (RM 12) and we loved them all! Bonus: they take credit cards

TRANSPARENCY IS THE BEST POLICY Tucked along Beach Street, Le Petit Four doesn’t announce itself loudly. There are no floral walls or gimmicks - just a quiet confidence in the pastries, the space, and the pace it offers. I’ve always loved the blueish exterior - calm, understated, a little European without trying too hard. It catches your eye without shouting for attention, and somehow sets the tone for everything inside. I came here two years ago with my close friend and my mother. We ordered kouign-amann, a pistachio tart, TWG tea, and a refreshing lemon mint cooler. The kouign-amann had caramelised edges and soft, buttery layers. The tart was delicately balanced, with roasted pistachios adding crunch and richness. Everything tasted honest, made with patience. The interior is quiet and minimal. No neon signs telling you to “live, laugh, latte.” Just natural light, soft tones, and space to sit with your thoughts. It felt deeply Penang: thoughtful, rooted, and not trying to keep up with a trend cycle. Café culture in Penang and KL often runs on different speeds. In KL, cafés tend to aim big - big aesthetics, bold plating, fast turnover, and a visible awareness of how things will play online. Places like Flaaaaaah at Four Points lean heavily into visual spectacle, with pastries that feel like they were made for the camera first and your palate second. KLCG strikes a warmer balance - heritage charm meets local flair - but it still carries that polished city rhythm. Le Petit Four is different. It doesn’t demand attention. It doesn’t posture. It just serves you a good pastry, and lets you decide what to make of the moment. Yes, Le Petit Four is said to be Halal-certified by JAKIM, and at the time of my visit, I cross-checked it through reliable listings. However, the certification isn’t clearly shown on their official platforms, so if that’s a concern, it’s always worth confirming again.

This café is truly something special. We came here for breakfast and were instantly charmed by the calm, inviting ambience. If you can, grab a seat by the front window overlooking the road—you won’t regret it. The pastries were absolutely delightful, and the drinks were just as impressive. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but well worth it for the quality and experience. Highly recommended.

A bakery that I have been patronising for over 20 years. I used to make it a point to pick up bread and buns when I’m in Penang to take back to KL. It’s certainly good quality and value for money compared to KL prices. Recommended to visit if you’re in the area.

A local friend brought me here 10 years ago, and I finally came back for a second visit. Saw some reviews saying the cinnamon roll is a must-try, so I gave it a shot — and it was really good! The curry puff and walnut sourdough were great too, definitely worth trying! Plus, there is a huge foodcourt just 5 minutes walking distance… where u can try the chendol too.

This bakery looked like it was an old establishment which survived and stayed strong for a long time. For our surprise, they had many varieties of breads with unusual flavors. We were intrigued to try everything but unfortunately, we were in Penang for a short time, so we didn't get the chance to come back to try their other freshly made breads. We bought: Graham cheese bun - whomemeal flour soft bread with generous cream cheese filling. Custard choux - thick yellow custard (consists lots of eggs), slight salty crusty choux. Complemented each other well. Kiwi muffin - with poppy seeds, slight tanginess, not too sweet, moist. Definitely will be back to try their sweet corn cheese twist & lemon tart. Eyeing on those when we visited last time 😆🤭

Old school bakery which is around for more than 20 years in Penang. You definitely feel like walking through the time tunnel once you entered the shop. You are first welcome with the fragrant wheat smell as the bread was baked freshly in the shop. There are varieties of choices for bread, pastries, muffins and they also have sourdough now! All the items look tasty and fresh. Some of the items was cheap while some are slightly expensive. For example, their sourdough bread are less than RM10 but some of the basic bun such as coconut bun are RM 4. My parents personally feel the coconut bun are a bit underwhelming as the bun might look big but the coconut filling was actually not many, it is not filled up in the middle of bun. Instead, you can see clearly in the picture the darker green colour was the shredded coconut filling while the lighter green part is the bread. The coconut filling is one small circle in the bun. Will probably revisit to try their other items such as baked pastries, sourdough bread and wholemeal bun but definitely not this coconut bun. Also, the architecture of the shop is interesting as the shop owner did not change much of the shop exterior and interior structure, the building has the British colonial era vibe. It is super hard to get a parking there, it is easier to park inside nearby New World Park paid parking lot, and walk to this shop which is only 3 minutes walking distance away.

The best cream puff, banana pie & chicken curry puff I have ever had 🥹😭 Penang’s pride !!!! Highly recommended !!!

Old School Bakery. I found this place on google map and the reviews looked good. So I went down to pick up a few buns and a loaf of bread. The bread and pastries were surprisingly fresh and good and very reasonable. I loved the curry puff, chicken pie and Egg Tarts. I bought a loaf of Sliced Multi-Grain Bread. It was fresh and soft even after 3 days. My only regret was not buy more stuff !!!

Greeted by whiffs of freshly baked bread and pastries… delightful as we were lost for choices what to buy. Obviously forgot to take photos of all the goodies we bought but I will list them down. 6 cream puff - delightful light cream and decadently sinful 4 egg tarts - bigger than my palm 1 butter raisin bun - thick gluten sins 1 butter purple potato bun - a bit healthier but that is just me justifying my purchase 1 sourdough cranberry loaf - oh so good 1 English muffins - received nod of approval from wife and everyone that was in the bakery 1 cheese corn bread - daughter ate it quietly no sharing Total damage 80.10. Well worth it as it accompanied us from Penang back home, and we had them for breakfast till 2 days after.

Service was so-so, chill vibes and the place felt a bit narrow and packed. Interior is very rustic which suits the shop name. It was crowded but the shop opens late, making it a great dessert or supper spot since the menu is of variety. Ordered the signature tiramisu cake which look quite big and tastes not bad. The matcha latte was good too. The best part is being able to draw on the tables (crayons are given) which made the experience really fun. Food was fine and the price was unsurprisingly expensive but overall it is worth visiting for the unique experience and considering the time it opens for too!

I had high hopes for this cafe, but unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired. First off, the service was incredibly slow. I waited over 20 minutes for a coffee. The staff didn’t seem very engaged, and it was clear they weren’t prioritizing customers. The coffee, which I was expecting to be the highlight, was lukewarm and bland. For a place that prides itself on its brews, this was a major letdown. The ambiance was also disappointing. The seating was uncomfortable, and the overall vibe didn’t feel very welcoming. It was crowded and noisy, which made it hard to relax and enjoy my drink. To top it off, the prices felt way too high for what I received. There are plenty of other cafes nearby that offer much better value. Sadly, I won’t be returning. I hope they take some time to address these issues. If I can give zero star, I would. p/s; Don’t order for the big breakfast. It’s probably the worst bb I’ve ever had in my whole entire life. No explanation needed!

Went here with high expectations but left feeling thoroughly disappointed. On entering the staff were all busy but eventually got shown by a blunt young man to a table in the ‘dining area’, not the busier ‘cake and coffee area’. The room wasn’t particularly atmospheric with only 1 other table occupied. Went for the Signature Bon Ton 3 Course Laksa set. After a long wait-about 25 minutes the food arrived …altogether! I wasn’t expecting everything at once. The top hats were fine albeit the chilli sauce was mild and no ‘kick’. The Malaca Nyonya Laksa was drab and lacked taste and more importantly was lukewarm. The black rice pudding was again lacklustre. I finished the meal and didn’t bother waiting for the bill. Again, staff nonchalantly disinterested, took payment at checkout.I was expecting them to ask some feedback about the meal but nothing. I just left bewildered! It seems their better reviews are for cake and coffee. Maybe I should have studied them more carefully!

The cake is nice specially the Banana passionfruit cake very refreshing, the Tiramisu is signature must order. The rest okie only. We order 2 spaghetti one vegan and one pesto chicken but taste is not Pesto more like assam laksa taste 😜😜😜(maybe is their own specialist). Price is on high side be prepare for exclusive price. Exclusive price but lousy service specially a lady in short hair super rude like do not welcome any guest (cause not just to our table is to all guests). Be prepare to pay 5*++ price no star service 🤭🤭🤭 oh one last thing never never never order the Lime juice (@RM 10++ per glass tase like drinking water only) super super super disappointed.

Cafe was dimly lit to the extent that it was not comfortable to the eyesight. Also had a hard time reading the menu. Coffee was not bad, but small servings. The cakes no doubt using premium ingredients but were too sweet. Price was quite steep, if not one of the most expensive around Penang. RM17++ for a cup of small hot latte. Go figure.

This is one of my favourite spot when I'm in Penang. Chill place, nice food and wide selection of cakes. Tiramisu with alcohol is a must try

Honestly just come here to hangout till late while eating some good cakes. Dont expect good service or good food. You can honestly get better food in the area at a cheaper price! But vibes and the interior are 💯 But low key wish the food was good 🥹 even thought I had a great time . I went back home thinking about the RM180 I just spent and felt completely unsatisfied and hungry 🥲🥲🥲

Awesome service, was greeted the moment I touched the door handle, great atmosphere, great music, not too loud, and not too soft. Amazing food, however açai was slightly too watery, however the food otherwise was super good including their drinks Order: Orange Juice (fresh) Passion on Chapel (Mango, Passion fruit, Honey, Ice) would however be great if it came with a straw otherwise it was good:)

This is quite the institution among Penang cafes. Our first visit since moving here a couple of years ago. It's a cafe that has so much going for it, and importantly it offers diners space and privacy with tables spread out generously. Now the food. I ordered the fish and chips. Excellent. Light, fluffy and with a crunch the fish was superb, as was the Tarter Sauce. The chips were cut to my liking and seasoned just right. My wife opted for a set meal - soup and dessert of the day plus a dish from a limited selection of six dishes. She asked for the chicken burrito. That's where it went downhill somewhat. Explains the 4 star rating. My fish and chips arrived first. The soup and burrito came about 10 minutes later, together. The mushroom soup was sad. Diluted and nothing mushroomy about it. The burrito was tasty and filling, but in all honesty it was only a wrap. Key ingredients of a burrito weren't in it. But this snafu apart, everything else was great. Service was quite friendly. The Pandan Gula Melaka coffee was excellent. Being offered now to mark Black Kettle's 10th anniversary, it should find a place in the regular menu. So for the sake of a soup a star was lost. The brownish bowl of water shouldn't be passed off as soup in any establishment, least of all in a place that isn't cheap, and where almost everything else works like a treat. We will definitely be back. Loved the ambience, the book shelves, the relaxed vibes.... just so warm and inviting 👍🍽😋. I so badly want to up the score to a 5.

The black kettles are a lovely touch, and the place is both roomy and comfortable. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is peaceful, so I work well here. Music in the background did not disrupt my Zoom meeting with my international offices. Fresh juice, tasty fish and chips, and steaming tea were my orders. My son had a delicious spaghetti set with soup and dessert, while my daughter-in-law had an average "nasi lemak" dish. I don't think the price is really steep. It will serve as my place of work every time I am visiting Penang. Poor Point: Nonexistent

Absolutely loved this one ! Iced Black flat Coffee perfectly balanced flavors with the smooth richness of coconut milk. It’s refreshing, light, and just the right pick-me-up for any time of the day!! Plus thanks for the cookies. And the staffs are friendly! High five ! ✋🏻

Decided to try Black Kettle café as its eye-catching frontage drew us in. The interior was a pleasant surprise—spacious with high wooden-beam ceilings and stylish décor. Our hot coffee drinks were decent, though not particularly memorable, while the chai and matcha cold drinks were average. Burnt cheesecake is good. Service was prompt and friendly. Overall, it’s worth a visit for the quiet and relaxing ambiance we experienced.

The food is flavourful, highly recommend their pasta dishes. Place is perfect for brunch and also great for casual work session. The staff are very friendly and inviting too.

Black Kettle is one of those cozy spots that just gets it right! great coffee, tasty pastries, and a relaxed vibe that makes you want to hang out for a while. Tucked away in a nice, scenic area, the place feels super welcoming, whether you’re just grabbing a quick bite or settling in with a good book. The coffee’s a standout. Smooth, rich, and way better than your typical café brew. You can tell they use quality beans and know what they’re doing behind the bar.

Remember, you come here for delicious, high quality homemade cakes. Oh, and for great coffees. Huge selections of homemade cakes at reasonable prices. You can tell that it is made with great passion and high quality ingredients. I tried the Chempedak cheesecake and the black sesame with tofu cheesecake. Both were very different in tastes but equally delicious and satisfying. Quaint place to meet after lunch or dinner for your desserts cravings. Or simply, catch up with coffee and cakes. A must go….

We always come back for their cempedak crumble — it’s our absolute favourite! The crumble is fragrant, buttery and has that perfect sweet tropical aroma of ripe cempedak. Soft inside with a crunchy top, every bite feels nostalgic and comforting. Today we also tried the chicken pie, and it was hearty and creamy with tender chicken, mushrooms, and flaky pastry that melts in your mouth. Nicely baked and filled generously. Overall, a cosy spot for comfort food and cakes — perfect for tea time or a relaxed catch-up. Definitely worth revisiting again and again!

Nely's Passion Heart is a little slice of cake heaven, tucked away in a narrow street in George Town. Nely is truly passionate about her cakes, all made to her personally crafted recipes and her uncompromising quality. Her many creations are like a magnet to cake lovers. I keep coming back for my favourites - too many to name - like the cempedak cake, cempedak cheesecake, onde onde cake, durian cheesecake, banana cake, carrot cranberry walnut cake, .... I wanted to try the chicken pie today, but being midweek, it wasn't available. Best to come on a weekend to avoid disappointment. I got to try her excellent sourdough instead, topped with scrambled eggs and alfalfa. Nely's Passion Heart is not only all about her lovely cakes. It's another cafe in George Town that does excellent coffee. Notwithstanding the limited street parking, Nely's is a cosy nook for meeting up over cake and coffee.

Had the best time here meeting up with friends from what feels like a lifetime ago. We met the awesome creator of the bakes, who graciously shared her story of passion that goes into each item - yes, even the selection of coffee beans - you're gona have to ask her to share with you too. The coffee here was THE BEST i've had in Penang. The cakes we ordered are packed with flavour, yet not sweet; bringing out the simple complexity of ingredients and texture that pastry is supposed to have. Wish we had time to go back again but they are pretty packed on the weekends and we were only there about 2 days. Definitely a return spot for me. So much to try!!

Cempedak cheese cake super flavourful! Red wine Black Forest cake kinda special, but we doesn’t really like thick cream😬

Had the pleasure of eating dessert at Nely's twice while in Penang. Nely the owner was very friendly conversational on both visits. Cakes that I tried were the mango / passion fruit ( which was absolutely fabulous), hummingbird cake ( also very good), and coconut with yam. I was happy with all three desserts. Definitely give it a try if you have a sweet tooth.

A great place to go for some wonderful homemade cakes. We had a cake each with drinks at Nely's,... and took another 4 back with us. All were absolutely delicious. We also met 2 of the resident cats 🐈,... Onglai (ginger cat,... which means "Pineapple" and/or "prosperity" in Cantonese) and Blackie,... both who were super friendly and got lots of petting.

One of the best pastry shops I’ve visited. The shop smells heavenly the moment you walk in. Everything is baked to perfection, especially the croissants, crispy outside and soft inside. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Great place to grab coffee and relax. Will definitely come back.

The food is fantastic. I tried the mixed danish and it is perfectly cooked. The sour and the sweetness blend-in together made a perfect combination. The strawberry and the blueberries are very fresh and tasty. I gave it 4 stars because the price is a bit on top, and the drink is not very good. I drank “dirty” coffee and honey lemon. Both are mediocre to me

The staff are lovely! The atmosphere is so charming with soft French music playing. I ordered a ham & cheese croissant with a cup of rose oolong tea and it was divine! Buttery, flaky pastry paired perfectly with the fragrant, floral tea. I left with a banana & chocolate croissant to take away because everything looked too good to resist. Big thank you to the staff!!!

If you’re a pastry lover, this place is heaven! 🥐✨ They have such a wide variety – from flaky croissants, bomboloni with all sorts of fillings, to these gorgeous crème brûlée tarts. The crème brûlée is a must-try – rich custard, caramelized top with that perfect crack when you bite in, super tasty! 😍 The almond croissant is another winner – buttery, flaky layers with a generous almond filling, topped with sliced almonds and powdered sugar. Honestly, it’s the kind of pastry that makes you want a good coffee on the side and just sit back to enjoy. Love how everything is fresh, beautifully made, and presented so nicely in the display. Definitely a spot I’d come back to whenever I’m craving something sweet and indulgent. 🍩☕️

Rarely have I been so impressed with anything to make a review. But just, wow. Everything we tried was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Nothing too sweet! You can really tell they love their craft here. You would easily pay small fortunes for this standard if you were in Europe. If you’re in Penang, you have to try this place.

A Taste of Paris in Every Bite! La Vie En Rose Patisserie is truly a hidden gem for pastry lovers. Their croissants are absolutely divine — perfectly golden on the outside, with a crisp, buttery flake that gives way to a soft, airy center. You can tell each pastry is made with care and authentic French technique.

☕🍰 Such a charming coffee shop with beautiful pastries and great vibes! My boyfriend ordered the classic latte and honestly… I had latte envy 😅 - it was smooth, simple, and just perfect. I went for the Tiramisu Latte, one of their recommended drinks. It looked amazing, but as a first-timer, I didn’t realize you’re not supposed to mix it - and yep, I totally did! 🙈 The staff were friendly and the space was lovely, but I do wish they gave a little heads-up on how to enjoy the specialty drinks properly. I’ve seen other cafes do this, and it really enhances the experience. A small tip that could make a big difference! Still, a great spot to chill and sip - and I’d definitely go back (and get that latte next time!) 💕

The garlic bread is scrumptious. Baguette also good, the akaks always offer me free samples! They have a good soy milk too but it's too sweet for me. Overall will always buy breads here.

Is this bagel or white bread made with the shape?? From the ingredient n texture it’s like white bread and selling it at Rm5.10 Is this serious?

This bakery has some unique and delicate flavour breads. The German Garlic Cheddar bread was the one that really impressed me, it has a strong garlic flavour and surprisingly there was cheddar cheese inside the bread. However, the pricing of their items were mostly higher.

I really like the blueberry and strawberry cheese cake at Love A Loaf. Its very cheesy and not too sweet. The Milky Butter Bread is good also. The shreded coconut makes it more tasty. Plus, I love DREAMY MILKY HOKKAIDO ROLL ^^ The price is not really affordable ~~

Ordered a different variety of food items. The cheese stick, opera cake, tiramisu and fried sausage bun are good! The are good and the cakes are not overly sweet. But I do not like the croissant and the Swiss roll.

Love A Loaf Bakery Cafe has proven to be one of the favorite bakeries for the factory workers (working nearby); evidently seen from the relentless queue during lunch time on weekdays. Business is brisk as well even during odd hours. Go later than 3 pm and you might find yourself in an awkward situation- an almost empty bakery; the best time to visit will be around noon to 2 pm.

Good quality bread and Pastries. They have 18 seats inside and option for coffee. Not very crowded. They do not have a card payment option. Cash and touch and go options are available. There is a huge car park opposite to the bakery.

A 1 star because I saw some unwelcome "guests" scurrying around inside the shop. And i have photo proof of one of them. Pretty appalling especially when they leave dining cutleries out on the table. And this isn't some cheap road side store. Im paying more than 30 bucks per pax. Saw another 1 star review highlight the same issue 2 years ago so it seems they haven solved this issue. If you're still brave enough to eat there, I would suggest to stick to the pastry/bread. Cakes were pretty good apart from one rancid walnut. The pizza was meh. Ive had many better sourdough pizzas. Tuna toast - the bread was great. The tuna wasnt so great. And they didnt even bother to let the cheese melt. It was still in pieces. Totally not what I expect from a highly rated cafe such as this.

This cafe is tucked away in a quiet, somewhat hard-to-find location, if you’re not specifically looking for it, you might easily miss it. Parking can be challenging, as there aren’t many proper spots nearby. You could risk parking along the double yellow lines, but I wouldn’t recommend it as you might get towed, and dealing with the impound lot would be a major hassle. Inside, the cafe is spacious, comfortable, and pleasantly cool thanks to the good air conditioning. I visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon when there were no other customers around. The staff were chatting and joking among themselves rather loudly which is not a major issue, but it did make it a bit hard to get their attention at first. That said, the plus-sized waitress who served us was especially attentive and friendly, so kudos to her for providing a great service. We ordered the Tuna Sandwich and the Chicken Rotkraut Sandwich, which arrived quickly (understandable since we were the only customers). Both were fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, and I’d definitely order them again. The drinks were good too, though a bit on the sweeter side for my taste. Price-wise, it’s a little on the higher end for the portion size, but I’d say the quality and freshness make it worthwhile. Overall, this café offers good food, a relaxing environment, and attentive service. I’d happily return for another sandwich and to explore more items on their menu.

Been having breakfast at either of Yin’s outlets for this past 4 mornings. Thankful that this outlet opens early at 7.30am for us to have a nice breakfast before heading off to the airport. Their omelette breakfast never fails to satisfy. Their sourdough bread is wonderful and I see many locals coming to buy. I am even buying one to bring with me on my flight. Pastries and cakes are delicious too. And most importantly for me, the coffee is very good.

This cafe has delicious sourdough. The environment is very cozy and inviting. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area. It's a great place to relax and enjoy some good food. I'll definitely be back again soon.

Worth braving the ☔️ for this sourdough bread sampler — 3 types of bread, 3 types of spreads. Very generous portion for 1 person and quite delicious 🤤 I think it’s ingenious because I ended up buying a whole loaf to bring back to SG. Still tastes really good once heated up. Will definitely bring back some more bread when I visit again. Staff was friendly and food was reasonably priced ☺️👍🏼

We went here to have “light breakfast” and ended up having veggie & cheese sandwich with extra sourdough slice, cheese scone, cinnamon danish and a warm cup of hazelnut latte. My husband and I obviously loved it. My personal faves would be the soft, warm cinnamon danish and hazelnut latte (with oat milk) which is the best I’ve ever had! 🥰

Lovely cafe, was recommended to pop in by a fren. Was here at lunch time, did a long walk in the rain to get here, didn't feel like sandwiches, so ordered d sourdough chicken noodle. Ok, i ain't going to call home n rave abt it, but in its entirety, a decently homey bowl of noodle, i enjoyed🙏😊. Had d kopi americano, shd have asked to have it serve later, my issue. But server shd have asked. Decent enough brew. Was it worth my walk, yup, i m glad i braved d rain n walked. Was told, i had to buy d scones, i will do a takeaway, later. If thete r some. Let my noodle sink gently n let my kopi seep into my cells first,i m still sippppping slightly tooooo cold kopi🙏😊❤️👍. Thanks.

What stood out the most was the plants and terrariums in the cafe, I felt like entering into another world. The dining area was even cooler, like old Victorian expensive house dining experience. Big serving of cakes with many flavors. Had to share the durian cake, tasty and big.

Firstly, I'd like to acknowledge how friendly and helpful the staff were. when you enter the shop, you are greeted with a wall of succulents and a cabinet full of cakes. The ambient eclectic, artistic feel peaks your interest and relaxes you simultaneously. I went all out when I came here. I tried one alcoholic (Unholy Hennessey), and one non-alcoholic slice (Cempedak King Deluxe). One slice would be enough for 2 people, but I'm a huge eater and could easily eat the Cempedak King by myself. The Unholy Hennessey was definitely a 2 person job. The cake was quite rick and full of flavour. I can see why they cost a little extra than normal; you pay for what you get! I loved the mango tea, too! I'll definitely be back again!!!

Cheese cake is good, very rich. Price is on the upscale but the size is much bigger than those ordinary cheese cake size.

Their cakes were super hugeeeee, but the taste was so so, maybe should’ve tried their signature flavours. The cream cheese was super dense and thick. The ambience and decor were quite random, left the place feeling confused haha. Interesting experience though.

The cake here slices are huge!! Very unique taste. Tried their TWG Tea Oolong Tea cheesecake, refreshing, top with orange cheese flavour, bottom with Oolong tea flavour though is not very strong tea taste with a bit of bitterness with some longan in it which is indeed unique. We 2 person couldn't finish it, need to take away the remainings. The environment is full with greenery especially the entrance area. We visited the place around 2pm, very little crowd, we could enjoy the place and take our time to take photos.

The terrarium makes you walk into Amazon jungle. Choices of cakes can be from common tiramisu to spicy flavour;one slice can be too much to handle for 2 person. Love the mocha flavor

It was a strange feeling I got in there. I didn't know there was a cafe, the building was hiding in trees and bushes. I tried cempedak cake, that was so good, I love cempedak. But of course, the price was expensive. But okay because I was dine-in and the atmosphere was very good. It was like classic, monalisa painting, yeah kinda mixed feeling there.

The food there was very tasty and healthy. I could feel how much effort the owner was making to achieve that. I actually came here purposely for the tofu cheesecake. It was super delicious, and the best part is… the cake is not too sweet and is healthier compared to other cakes. The bench seating was a little low and not very comfortable. Just a reminder — it’s hard to find a parking spot in the morning. For sure, I will visit this shop again!

Joies sourdough has crisp crust and moist, chewy inside, with a naturally tangy flavor. Creamy pesto pasta and red pepper soup also super delicious. Unfortunately, they will stop the business temporarily. I'll definitely visit again when reopen.

I personally didn't like the light bulbs in the fan, that's on the wall. It makes the place look old and badly decorated. Hanging those bulbs would be nicer. There is a few seating sections. Some near a water fountain, bar tables, normal table seating. They have a nice cat sleeping outside. No pets allowed inside. Presentation ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Food was nicely plated and presented. The coffee has nice clean art on it.

I visited this restaurant in March 2025 and was delighted to have come across it while staying nearby. The relaxed ambiance made for a wonderful dining experience, and the food was truly enjoyable. The staff were exceptionally friendly, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. A highlight was the freshly baked sourdough, which was absolutely delicious. Overall, it’s a great spot to unwind and enjoy a lovely meal!

Food overall is nice and tasty. It is exceed my expectation. Pesto is nice. The tofu burger is also nice but slightly spicy for kid, due to the sauce. Portion is nice and perfect for an adult. I will suggest to add some rice menu for more selections. Price is above average and hope can lower a bit or give discount. Parking a not a problem as you can park at Molmein Rise

Having piccolo latte here. The staffs here are very friendly and helpful. She explained to me about the coffee so detailed. The piccolo latte is nice, it is not to "milky" so I still can taste the coffee. While I am having my latte, I saw some people is come and go taking their sourdough order. I love sourdough so I tried buying one too. It is the red yeast cranberry one. It is great. The bread is a bit soft and sour (I love sour) and I love when I bites the cranberry. So if you prefer the sourdough soft, this place is a great choice. Love the experience here. If there's a chance, I will come again and try the soup or anything else ❤️

We were brought there by a friend who recommended their Japanese tofu cheesecake. Indeed it was really nice! Their main dishes are all meatless and are great choice for the healthy geeks. Definitely a must try!

This is not the first time I have been here. Their pastries are so good. Months ago i was here with friends and we tried their cakes, the Tarte Au Citron had a intense taste of lime, those who love Tarte Au Lemon and sourtooth will in love with this. This time I tried Cinnamon Stick. Buttery, light texture and crispy, balance in sugar and cinnamon powder. Their tea and coffee are good in quality as well. I prefer my coffee lesser milk but remain the shots, they made me piccolo latte that not in the menu. I would like to try other pastries, definitely will come back. P/s: I take away some pastries, and they are so sweet to put an instruction about the way to reheat the pastry before consume.

During our stay in Penang we came here twice to have breakfast, and it never disappointed! You are met with a wide array of pastries, delicious coffees and really helpful staff - it is worth listening to them because the sesame seed croissant was indeed a special culinary experience. Don’t hesitate to try The Maker when you are looking for a quick but tasty bite!

Amazing café to wind down or catch up on some work. The staff were friendly and suggested a few pastries to try - and their options didn't disappoint! Not much spaces with plug points but still very accommodating nonetheless - Oh , good jazz music too!

I was admiring the varieties of their bakes and was rushed to order. And later went to choose a sit and noted most likely some rat poops on one of the sitting cushion. My croissant serve to me bit late and the new trained staff seems unapologetic about it. The croissant was great but the place really need to improve overall hygiene.

Beautiful room & pastries. Foccaccia available on weekends, although I recommend their eggtarts and croissants. Coffee was surprisingly good too, although the cappuccino was too foamy for my taste.

A Satisfying Visit That Met Expectations We came to this café with expectations based on what we read online. And it lived up to them. Good service from friendly staff. Excellent service which is very rare nowadays in any cafe or restaurant! Friendly helpful & attentive. The patient young Chinese gentleman at the counter was exceptional, knowledgeable & assisted us in deciding which teas to order, came over to our table & check on us, if our tea needed topping up of hot water. Went on a Tuesday afternoon hence it wasn’t crowded. We ordered: -Mango Tart absolutely Devine. Sweet generous amount of mangos, not too sweet, thin crust. Perfect for a hot day. -Pan Au Chocolate was also to our liking, light & crusty with just the perfect amount of chocolate inside. -Good quality French earl grey tea leafs! Toilet is upstairs which is not air conditioned & very hot, can be improved with adding a fan for better ventilation.

Nothing special for around 15RM slice of cake. I've tried better cakes with those price range. Tried tiramisu and one other type but i forgot the name, the taste is mid. If you want to try, make sure you order for takeaway since there's no chair to sit. The building'a design was pretty, but inside the building does not reflect the outside design😅

Ordered salted caramel coffee cake 1kg for sister's birthday. I ordered via phone on 7 Sept 2022 at 7.34pm to the staff called Ah Hao and request to pick up on 11 Sept 2022 (more than 2 days for the shop to prepare my 1kg cake order based on the owner reply on 25 Sept 2022). I requested an 1kg rectangular cake but end up receiving a makeshift 1kg cake by combining two 0.5kg into one and you still can see the gap line at the middle of the cake. What make this an even worst experience, is that the staff didn't mention about this during the time of order and I unable to make changes when I pick up the cake. Because I bought this cake for my relatives to celebrate her birthday on the same day.

The ambiance of the place was nice. The cake we bought was excellent, my son had a blast eating his birthday cake. They gave candles and a birthday sign to put on the cake since there was no place to write. I just wished the staffs were friendlier; there were no welcoming greetings or a "how may I help you" but there was no doubt their cake was worth the money.

Famous sourdough centric cafe located in Queens Waterfront- food here was mediocre and a little bland but portion wise is sufficient for one. We tried the wild mushroom pizza that had pesto sauce as base and was generously topped with stir fried mushrooms. The pizza was very earthy but tasted bland and the pizza crusted tasted very bready (not very proofed). Carbonara was very creamy and could use more salt. The grilled chicken was juicy though. Kombucha was tangy and refreshing! Service was relatively fast and free water (self service) is provided.

Came here for some refreshments . The cafe was great from a-z. Staffs were very helpful and kind. Had hot mocha which was 5/5. The sourdough was one of the best I’ve had. Their kombucha is 💯, wish I bought more 🤤 Very recommended and will definitely come again.

I ordered the Salmon Benedict with a bagel. The sourdough bagel was the star—chewy and perfectly tangy, it was a fantastic base for the rich smoked salmon. The poached egg was cooked perfectly, with a gooey yolk that blended beautifully with the hollandaise sauce. The Americano I had was also very good, with a strong aroma and smooth flavor. Overall, the food was excellent. If you appreciate good sourdough and a well-executed brunch, this is a great spot to visit in Penang.

Worst chicken breast salad I had, it was so tasteless and dry. The grilled chicken was so tough! And even the fried version wasn’t great. First and last time here. Disappointing food.

Love the cakes! Their mango cake is light and has huge chunks of mangos as topping. If you are a tea lover, you must definitely go for their earl grey opera cake which has a rich tea aroma. The rich coffee flavour in their tiramisu is very tempting. I deducted one star for there has limited parking spaces.

We came here because of the reviews. This cafe shares a space with adjoining cafe next door and you can order items from either places. I would say the items are nice but priced much higher compared to other cafes we had visited (or even the ones nearby), and I don’t think it’s worth the increment. Here’s what we had from both places: • Wild berries tea (RM11.50) • Coffee (RM20) • Banana poppyseed muffin (RM12.30) • Ham, egg and cheese brioche (RM18.50, very tiny) I believe the reason why is the crowd here is mainly tourists and westerners who can afford to pay. Just to give you price comparison, we can get muffins for RM8, coffee around RM10-14 and pasta dishes with meat at R20+ at nice cafes elsewhere.

I visited this cafe a week ago. It is cozy and not congested in the morning. It is easy to find a public parking lot since most of the shops are not open until 10am. The flat white coffee is good and I will go to the place again. I enjoyed the croissant and bagle. Love the atmosphere and the friendly people.

Burnt cheesecake was GREAT! Nice hideout place after a long walk in the sun. Love the ambiance, service was friendly. But the matcha latte was disappointing, too much form and way too bitter.

Absolutely loved my stop at Mugshot Cafe! I grabbed an Iced Americano (RM11.50) and a slice of their Fruit Cake (RM13.60). The Iced Americano was perfectly refreshing and strong, just what I needed in the Penang heat. But the real star was the Fruit Cake – it was incredibly moist and packed with a generous amount of delicious, plump dried fruits. Not overly sweet, just a delightful balance of flavors and textures. It truly felt homemade and was a wonderful treat. Highly recommend both!

Macallum Connoisseurs never failed to impressed with their carefully crafted coffee and meals. Still great vibes and quality cafe after moving from a warehouse to a better compact minimalist environment. Great for early coffee talk, fulfilling lunch and an evening stroll.

Went for lunch around 12:30pm and it was a full house. The crowd only started to clear around 3pm. The atmosphere was nice with a modern interior, but conversations were a bit difficult due to the echo. It gets quite noisy when the place is packed. They offer set lunch with free drinks and a good variety of food to choose from. The food tasted ok and portions were generous. I especially enjoyed the crispy fries, and the pesto sauce on the lemongrass chicken and chicken breast was delicious! We ordered individually by scanning the QR code provided, but it ended up a little messy for the staff. The waiter had to keep coming over to confirm our orders, which was surprising since it was all done through the system.

I had a great experience at Macallum Connoisseurs Coffee Company. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, with a variety of dishes that cater to different tastes. Overall, a lovely spot for a relaxing meal and coffee!

First time here since they moved to this new location. Never had a headache getting a car park. Due to the empty walls without any curtains or fabric, sounds bounce back very loudly, creating strong echoes, which is a very annoying sound. Surprisingly, the food is good with a reasonable price for a cafe. Meanwhile, they are cashless payment only; no cash.

This is the first time we came here ever since the cafe moved to this new location. There are over 10 free parking slots next to the place that are reserved for their customers which is convenient. The environment is simple but has a clean modern touch to it. The staff service was good and it did not take our food too long to arrive so we we did not have a problem with it. The food variety is limited to mostly pasta and western food. We ordered the Mediterranean spiced chicken thigh and fungi obsession pasta which was delicious. The only problem I see is the food portion is small and some dishes like the burger do look overly simple with an under-sized portion. Their beverages (ice chocolate and latte) were average and purely made without adding anything else like condensed milk, sugar, etc so it won’t be to everyone’s liking. There are some cakes (red velvet, apple tart, etc) here for those sweet tooth lovers but the variety is limited. In terms of the price, bear in mind there is a 5% SST and 10% service charge. The overall price is a little expensive unless if you go for the lunch set as opposed to the ala carte. Overall, this place is suitable for gatherings but not for those looking to make reservations for a special occasion.

Just had lunch with colleagues. Started with 2 servings of mushroom soup - had a sourish taste, kinda weird as it progressed. Decided to inform the service staff - took a bowl back to the kitchen. No feedback until we checked out. Was told a 10% discount given on the total bill for the 'bad/stale' soup. It is not the discount that we are asking for. Do have the decency to let us know that it is a 'slipped'from the kitchen. We are returning guests, disappointed with the food quality and management practice.

I had the upside down mango cake which was very good, but I expected it to have fresh mango. This one was sugary and processed. Maybe even from the can. Now sure. The case underneath was nice. There is a huge variety of cakes and I guess most of them are nice. Inside is spacious and good for big companies. Strong WiFi and good service are included.

A nice place to visit for breakfast or brunch. They have alot of varieties of pastries & cakes. Everything looks tempting. Drinks just ordered from the next-door cafe mugshot as they collaborate as one. The vibe is happening & full with crowds. Pastries taste good but the turnoff is that it's served cold so u can't get the warm flakiness pastries. It becomes hard & not easily bite.

Rain Forest Bakery in Georgetown, Penang quickly became my happy place—I visited three times because their bread, is downright addictive! The pistachio, lemon, and banana cakes? Pure yum. Warm butter croissants? Yes, please! Mornings got exciting with their Avocado Egg sandwich, though picking just one felt impossible because everything looks too good to resist. Plus, Mugshot café right next door serves up tasty coffee, yoghurt, and smoothies. Their yoghurt may be a little fancy-priced, but it’s totally worth the treat. Breakfast goals achieved!

Absolutely amazing cakes. We had the carrot cake and some extremely chocolately chocolate cake. The owner is an extremely nice guy, and clearly knows how to make cakes. Family run, and outstanding.

A traditional bakery shop and their signature is cream puffs. As a Penangite, I would say that their cream puffs are one of the best in Penang. However, they have recently increased the price per box of 10 pieces from RM16 to RM19. Overall, must try.

The fresh cream puff is so yummy. Texture of the puff is soft and not stingy on the fillings. One bite and mouthful of cream. Recommended. Also the sponge cake is nice too.

It is such a wonderful place. It feel nostalgic. They have all your childhood favourite bakes. It is like being a kid in a candy store but it is a bakery instead. They have old school birthday cakes with sprinkles. Their cream puffs are incredible. The best I've eaten so far. Their tiny pastries and savoury delights are equally good. The service is wonderful. Despite being packed with people, the aunty took time to explain the various types of desserts available and cake choices. She was kind enough to share that I can pre-order various cake flavours or walk in to get a birthday cake from their pre-made selection. They are open daily which is a plus. Parking is difficult but you can have someone wait in the car for you. It is a must stop. I highly recommend trying their cream puffs and cakes.

Chanced upon this bakery and thankfully I did! They had 2 types of puffs - Cream or Custard for sale. I got cream as custard was sold out. But o m g the cream is not cheap whipped cream, the texture is more of a custardy cream!!! Super nice. Comes in a box of 5. Cream was just the right amount of sweetness and the puff crust is thin & soft. Super generous amount of cream too like its gonna overflow. Definitely must try! Also tried a piece of cinnamon bread which was average. Cute shop auntie was so friendly and warm. Will highly recommend!

Swens cakes are super delicious, they've really have the patience to bake, decorate and all ingredients are so fresh. My favourites are durian cake and ondeh ondeh cake, the owner had made an extra mile to arrange for the delivery too, I am truly appreciate for their support and it has made a real difference for someone like me - an outstation customer.

We had a very last minute notice, and wanted Swen to make a custom gender reveal cake for us on the same day. He said OK, and delivered us a very beautiful cake (picture attached). Not only that, this was the most DELICIOUS sponge cake me and my family has tasted. I don't remember the last time where me and/or my family has finished a whole cake! the cakes looks pretty but tastes pretty average for its price point. the portion is huge, ideally it would take 5-6 person to finish 3 slices of cake to savour the cake properly without getting sick of it. the ingredients are probably why it’s a bit on the higher price point so it’s justified and production place is clean too. p.s. people left the door open a few times which dropped the temperature of the room eventhough they are using centralized AC. i think it would affect the production too. as a dine in customer, we were quite bothered by it would love to try other flavoured cakes like chocolate, caramel, etc! :)

Cake is great, with many subtleties and complexities in their flavours, compared to other cakes that I have eaten which are often just one-noted. Their environment is also great with nice lighting and chairs. They also offer great service, look at the picture I drank all the water!

They specialise in cakes & they received plenty of orders for whole cakes. Average quality I can say. It's pretty, but taste can be better. The ambience is like olden days classrooms.

Probably not my type of cake. The cake taste like sparking sour on the first layer. My intention was to buy fruit cake since my mum love it. Unfortunately my family friends not able to eat more than 1 piece due to high sour taste 🥲. I like the staff services and cake designs but definitely not the taste

I am so impressed with their Mango sponge cake (5 stars), that's why I went onsite to check out other cake. Don't order the Lychee Rose cake( 1 star because the sponge cake part so tasteless and hard, not fresh)

We had such a pleasant experience with Whisk Penang. They were very accommodating and kind, even helping me with a last-minute order without any fuss. The lychee rose cake was not only beautiful but also tasted amazing — our whole family really enjoyed it. Highly recommend them for both their service and their cakes!

All the cakes there looked so delicious and made me feel like trying them all! I chose the “Almond Guanaja”, and it was really delicious. You can really tell that they use good ingredients to make each cake. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It would be perfect if only the prices were a bit more down-to-earth. Haha..

Looks nice to see, a bit too sweet for my liking. Although I ordered a tea flavoured dessert, the taste is not apparent. Matcha latte tastes bitter ( bitterness is not like the usual matcha should be). Note: pork free

Was craving for some macaron and found this place. Parking can be a challenge. From the front desk this place has its own kitchen but not in the shop. All pastries are done in house. Extremely beautiful pieces. Place was clean and a good place to chill surimg the afternoon. 4 star as I found the macaron a bit on the dry side. Will amend during the next visit when i try the cakes.

Beautiful works of art in the form of delicious cakes - a surefire topic of conversation. Reasonably priced, you can get a tray of 4 mini cakes for just slightly over RM100. Service is immaculate, they write a chocolate happy birthday sign, and give you a box of cutlery that includes candles, knife and sporks.

Always love Dolce’s cakes, but it’s their coffee that keeps me coming back. Their mocha is my boyfriend’s favorite! This time they surprised me with two flower balloons—so cute and thoughtful.🥰

Very nice and chilled cafe suitable for brunch/lunch. It’s a café owned by the owner of Peninsula House beside the building. The prices are not cheap, but the food quality and taste are worth with the rated prices, and the most recommended food is their Shakshuka, which I think is the best in town. We will definitely come back to visit again next time!

Place was quiet in terms of crowd as there are many seatings available, mostly indoors but a bit noisy overall. Interior is simple and minimal aesthetics. Service is basic, food is not worth the money and just come for the vibes. Ordered the conchiglie with seasonal mushrooms which arrived cold. Rice paper was a bit soggy. Tried the Kyoto Forest as well, the waffle was crispy which was nice, and presentation looked good, but the rice puff was hard and soggy. Matcha latte was average, leaning more towards strong and bitter. Overall experience was so-so, slightly below average. Nice for aesthetics but okay to skip for the food especially since they are overpriced.

Ambience / Design • Very modern, minimalist / industrial chic. Lots of natural light, high ceilings, indoor greenery.  • Good for photos / IG (“Instagrammable”) spaces.  2. Food & Desserts • Waffles generally well-liked. Varieties like the heart-shaped waffles, Apple Crumble, etc.  • Tiramisu often singled out as a signature dessert.  • Some mains also get praise — for example, the Prawn & Pumpkin Risotto is mentioned often.  3. Coffee and Drinks • People appreciate the coffee selection, specialty drinks, and cocktails.  • Matcha drinks also show up, though sometimes with mixed feedback.  4. Good for chilling / socializing • The café is considered a nice place to hang out. Relaxed vibes.  • Spacious in the Micro Roastery location makes for a more comfortable setting than smaller cafés. 

Food was good but the selection were not that many. Seating environment was a bit awkward though. Desserts are nice but rather pricey especially when they are mostly waffles. But a great place to try out if you are looking for something different.

Came here for coffee break around 3-ish yesterday. Very big cafe and loving the atmosphere. Only order hot white and 70% morka chocolate as our dinner is just few hours away. Not much snacks available for teabreak but they do have many dessert option which looks amazing~ will be back to try the brunch, dessert menu next time when I come to Penang next year~

I came here because I saw so many people recommending this cafe, but honestly, it was quite disappointing. The dish I ordered was supposed to come with two strips of bacon, but both were mostly fat — probably 90% fat and only 10% meat 😭 It looked really unappetizing and I lost my appetite just by looking at it. I could barely eat it. Maybe other dishes are better, but this one was definitely a letdown. Hope the café can improve on food quality.

First impression — very Korean café vibes! Lots of natural light and a clean, minimal design. The café feels premium — they even use Aesop products (love that!). Staff were super helpful and informative. The Espresso Tonic had a nice, balanced taste, and the Matcha was thick and really good!

Do not be confused by the 2 shop lots with the same name located on the same row. One is perpetually closed because it functions as the production area. The actual one is the one next to the corner lot coffee shop. If you are walking around in this area, it will be worth your time to come in here to browse. They sell a lot of Chinese style traditional cookies and kuih. Except for the boxed ones, all of them are freshly baked. You will still probably end up buying some because visually they look simply enticing and delicious. This will be proven when you eat them later. Yummy yummy yummy. They have too many choices for me to enumerate. You will need to come here and look at them yourself and you will be happy you did. I found all of the ones I bought delicious and will definitely drop by if in the area.

One of the old Chinese style pastry shops in Georgetown. I have been visit this shop since I was a kids. I love their brown sugar cookies, lotus / red beans wedding pastry and all the old styles cookies Super awesome. Recommended

Saw this very vintage shop while walking around the area, bought some traditional coffee and small pastries. Only thing that can be improved is I asked which flavor of the pastries is the most recommended or the signature of the shop cause there are quite some flavors, but the young lady cashier just said she didn’t know, disappointing answer for such a long-history shop tbh.

I’ve always admired this bakery for its long tradition, and it used to be a place to get truly classic bakes. However, I recently tried their mooncakes and found them quite different from what the older generation used to make. The filling had an unusual texture and the taste wasn’t the same rich, authentic flavor I remember. It seems the recipes or methods may have changed over time. Still, it’s nice that they continue the tradition, but those looking for the old-school taste may find it a little disappointing.

Visited this shop in May 23 and wanted to try their 马蹄酥 but they did not have samples for tasting. So we bought a pack of 10 and tried on the spot. We ended up buying more than 10 packets because it was good and still tasted as good a week later after we returned home. Visited this shop again in Jul 23, and bought more 马蹄酥, and the excellent quality is maintained. Crispy and soft skin and the filling will flow slowly out on the first bite. Very satisfying food. It is now our must visit shop in Penang. Highly recommended.

Recommended by a friend to come and try on a sunday morning brunch time. Sourdough kaya toast is quite special. Toast is soft and easy to chew. Butter was flavourful and kaya was not too sweet. Bonus point. They peel the half boiled eggs! Roasted pork with noodles looks good too. Taste wise is there and pork was crispy. Bacon and cheese croissant was soso, the cheese was too hard to cut, croissant wasn't so flaky. Cream cheese cranberry croissant is good to pair with coffee as the filling is abit sweet. Kopi was kaokao which is good, cappucino tasted normal, but it was served in a traditional coffee cup which was cute. Overall, will come back just to eat the sourdough if i ever visit penang. Good for bread lovers.

Conveniently located in New World Park, Sin Seh Kai A Micro-Artisan Bakery in the heart of Penang Island, Breads and Pastries are baked fresh in small batches daily. To be considered an upscale mix of local Penang and some sort of international style of cuisines. They are more famous for their breads and local brew coffee. There are both outdoors and indoor seating, and outdoor seating can be quite hot and especially sunny and in hotter weather, while the indoor seating has air conditioning. Parking wise, customers can choose to park at New World Park, a huge parking area and space.

This store can get very busy in the morning. They served quite decent bakes and it’s reheat before serve. Filling inside cream cheese cranberry croissant is the right amount but I wish they can put more dried cranberry. The butter amora doesn’t make it greasy. It’s also flaky and fluffy from the inside with the filling. Best go with ice americano. Just love the morning with this simple breakfast. Perhaps next time can try more vibrant breakfast menu.

Still one of my favourite pastry shop/cafe in Penang over the years. Such a unique place where one can find the finest sourdough bread while still enjoying local delights (with a western twist) Their croissants are exceptional!

Love the butter cake they have here. You need to preorder it beforehand. The butter cake is dense and sweet. Its the type that is perfect to go with tea or coffee for teatime. Will I order the cake again? No, sadly. At that price (RM98) for a small cake, it is not the type of cake you will always get, even to treat yourself. Food is alright as well. They have rice, noodles and even breakfast set. Coffee is pretty great! Will I come again for the food? Also no. It is just alright. There are other places with nicer food.

It’s ok, for croissants made (supposedly) with Lecure butter they are so, so. Coffee was too hot and subsequently burned. Scrambled egg portion was cooked nicely. If you’re from a developed country the cost is low, if you’re a Malaysian it’s not a bargain. They serve bacon though, that’s a bonus. Would I come here again, definitely a no from me.

The butter cake was viral in social media, rm98 each. I bought 4 in different flavors. Taste wise was not bad, the cake was moist, overall I’ll rate it 3.5/5 for the taste. But not really worth buying it at rm98. What made me make review was the service given. I made the payment 3 days in advance, together with rm24 delivery fee. On the day, there’s no update on the delivery until I called. After that then they send me the lala move link, which I notice that lalamove charged them rm10.90. No refund was mentioned until again I requested it. End up guess how much they refunded me? Rm11 ! Why ? Because according to the staff, their boss will collect 10-20% for delivery 🤷🏻‍♀️ in case raining and the delivery price will hike up. But in this situation where my delivery service was charged at rm10.90, and the customer need to ask for refund. Yet you still wanna charge extra 😂 what is this ?? Not that I’m mind that rm2, but this behavior disgusts me. Just take note that they will charge extra on delivery

As an Australian ex barista and coffee snob, was pleased with the coffee , well frothed and clean extraction, lovely beans. Was only disappointed they ran out of oat milk so couldn't have a second one. Also enjoyed the eponymous " Kwason", great lamination, can taste good butter. Also tried candle cake - a little gimmicky but fun. White chocolate shell with wick on top, layered sponge and blueberry cheesecake filling. White chocolate shell a little thick in my opinion - white chocolate overpowered a little and could use a feuilletine or some element of crunch that would satisfy the cheesecake craving when cheesecake is referenced in description.

The apple cinnamon escargo was absolutely wonderful and the pastry is good. Raspberry beignet was filled to the brim and not too sweet. Paired it with flat white and hot chocolate for a filling tea time for 2 😋

I had a Long Black. I like the taste. Mellow and mild, not demanding but very shooting in the morning. Just the way I like it. They makes the patisserie on the premises too. Will definitely return for more.

We ordered pistachio croissant (good), pepperoni and cheese bagel (I’ve tasted fresh bagels abroad and this tastes old), scone (without sauces nor cream :), the inner is moist and denser than usual. “Moist” as in excessive butter) Also, the green apple mojito is plain, as you can see from photo, syrup + soda and ice?

Decided to try this place out as a recommendation from a friend. I had a vanilla latte with sun dried gochujang bagel and a croissant. Easily one of the best croissants I've ever had! So so crunchy and sweet. Everything about it was absolutely spot on! 🥐🤍 The bagel was tasty and delicious but was really difficult to cut into. Honestly, that was the only downside to it. Otherwise so so good!

A small little bakery in the heart of the UNESCO world heritage city. We found this place on Google map. Please bakery is beyond our expectation in many ways especially in terms of services, hospitality, quality of the food and coffee, as well as the ambience. The owner was so kind to share with us so many interesting stories about the historic preservation, everyday life's stoeiss, deep sentimental history of the city, as well as the current stage of development in his historic city. We recommend this place for food, as a place for hanging out or remote work (excellent internet and great wake up coffee all day long) and for chilling with friends.

Had the cny menu today Bread, soup or salad, and duck confit with rice. The soup is very flavourful, leaning to the saltier side, pairs well with the bread, cranberry in the bread adds a layer of flavour when dipped in the soup, it was quite fun to feel the changes. Duck confit is abit overcooked, some part was hard and on the verge of charring, but the seasoning is very well done with the orange sauce. The rice that came with the main is covered in duck fat so it's not the plain average rice. Service is nice, everyone was smiling, the timing between dishes is good. LesGrains is an elegant and inviting bakery which has the best in town delicious high quality patisserie and serves a good wholesome breakfast too. Their cinnamon knot is just heavenly, a must try. Most importantly, the cleanliness of the premises is impeccable plus the service crew are polite and engaging.

Came with my wife to buy some sesame oil and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of other products available. Service wasn’t terribly friendly excellent almost like having your own personal shopping assistant.

Bought TSP here, didn't see any staff I could ask here. There were 3 staffs at the counter and they were just chatting. Took few items and asked at the counter then one entertained us. Then after one approached us to offer their products. I like the TSP, bought few including mooncake. The service can be improved. Place is huge, I thought got many products to buy here but there wasn't many though on display.

From humble beginnings, it has grown into a conglomerate with lots of locations. I have been eating their biscuits on and off for decades. While their packaging has improved and now looks more slick and modern, I feel their biscuits nowadays tastes more manufactured and generic. It has lost its delicious baked aroma and the filling no longer has the fresh nutty smell I am used to. It's still OK as a gift as long as you don't have a memory of how it used to taste. However, the teelseed / sesame oil is still the undisputed king. No brand comes close in terms of taste and aroma. If you had to choose and you enjoy using sesame oil, it's a no brainer. Buy the sesame oil. Give it away as a gift. Your receiver will thank you.

The shop is nice and was greeted by a very warm and friendly elderly gentleman. I bought the almond cookies which was a big piece and brown, delicious. The tau sar pia is super delicious because it’s the type I love which is sweet with a hint of salt with the aroma of fried onions. Reminds me of my childhood trip to Penang Island. Highly recommended to visit this place.

Nicely decorated oven baked traditional pastry shop in Burma Road Penang. The pastry is fresh and crispy. They have various type of fillings and taste delicious. They also sell buns and tea leave egg. Price is reasonable.

Feels abit hard selling. Want 3 items but “insist “ 4 in a plastic packaging. Need to pay paperbag for take away. Using pastic containers also doesn’t seems to be environmentally friendly. They didn’t even inform me that there are holes in their packaging ( refer to photo) . Some of the flakes dropped into my bag and dust can drop on to my tart. Char Siew Pastry is average and Egg is only slightly better. Should be more open if client just wants to buy a pc or two to try. The shop gave a feeling that they are just interested in driving their sales. The client will definitely come back if service and pastry is good and will buy even more. 1st impression counts.

Me and my girl coming here to buy some Hopia for bringing home. Asking about the price and a box set 12pcs for 50.10RMB. But I told her that I cant bring Durian product back to my original country or otherwise I will get fine 500$. She still insisted for me and my girl to get the old box with 12pcs (2pcs each flavor) with all flavour included, and we say no no to Durian flavour. I think is the owner try to sell me the old box with the idk how old is the product sitting there on the bench. Yeah so we order new box with our own choice of flavour. We got 4 mango and 2 each other flavour except durian. Went to cashier with the owner again and charging us 20pcs of Hopia instead of 12pcs. We're thinking about paying around 50RMB for the 12pcs box but instead paying 80RMB. After the owner left to serve another guess, we checked the receipt and found there's mistake. I asked the owner to check again and she just realised pressing 12 instead 2pcs on the last flavour. So I corrected her and get my money back on 10 extra charges. Very good shop and lots of flavour cake. Just make sure to check your receipt before you go after paying. We as tourist normally didn't check every receipt for every purchase when we travel. Cheers! The rating is honest by our experience.

I thought I would visit this place and try to find some pastries which I could buy back home to try. Visited on a weekday the shop was quite empty, but upon walking in was amazed by the variety of items that they were selling. I felt so happy looking at the display that I wanted to buy and try one each then buy more and bring home and share with my family. Unfortunately there were quite a number of items which were not recommended to keep for more than 2 days, basically because the pastries were freshly made without preservatives. I decided to just buy a few and try to finish them within 2 days and was disappointed I couldn't buy more. Tried a couple of them and would say the overall experience was good and would definitely try them again. First was the egg tart. Nothing to fault the egg custard and the tart shell was to my liking, not hard and not too thick. Then had this small little ball like pastry which was actually a tau sar piah and had durian filling in it. Very unique and nice and very short shelf life so really have to come Penang for it. The chicken bun had a nice flaky outer layer and the meat was well cooked. Very tender and not too sweet suitable for young and old. Last one was the wife biscuit, very nice and fragrant wintermelon filling, soft and not too sweet too. A very good traditional store worth visiting.

The store design is attractive, makes you want to go in and have a look. The staff was very welcoming, she invited us in while we were standing outside. We tried the egg tart and the assorted box. Personally, I find that the taste is above average but not the best I've had. Perhaps the other popular items might taste better, but we were too full to get more.

A must try when coming to penang, they're char sew pao is really good, the pastry is very different and unique with a sweet coating on top. They're egg tarts were okay and the pineapple tart was way too sweet with a piece of pineapple inside

Love the chicken floss pastry 西施酥. Actually all the flavours are nice. Great service too. The lady was very patient with us while we decide what we need to purchase as gifts. They can pack the pastry in 4, 8 or 12. The box of 12 comes in a nice gift box. The others is a clear plastic box with a nice sleeve. Can also buy single items. We didn’t try the egg tart but many locals whom we speak to never fail to mention their egg tart as their personal favourite.

They open business early on Saturday. That's wise move. We were here at about 9am on Saturday. Crowds are decent, usually 4-6 tables occupied at upper level. Overall: environment is cozy, foods are okay for breakfast, coffee taste is more towards "sour".

Place is newly opened, the balloons are still filled with air so I would say the place is not older than a month, i'm guessing :p). Place is spacious/wide. It can accomodate groups especially those who are doing coffee and chat. There is a wide selection of drinks (milk tea, coffee, etc), bread and pastries. Price is affordable. The black pearl is soft and freshly cooked (because they ran out they have to cook again :)). By the way, the store is cash only.

Tried Original and Taro crepe cake Original: have a hint of honey flavor, good cream and solid in a good way, not too sweet. Taro: layered with yam paste, creamy & smooth texture, perfect sweetness. Must better taste compare with many other brands or cafe. Seems like they really understand Crepe Cake 💯✨

Finally had a chance to visit after eyeing this place for months. The cakes definitely taste as good as they look. While the pricing can be considered expensive by some, it is totally justified with the quality and effort put into these cakes. They're honestly the best crepe cakes I've ever had. Every layer of crepe is paper thin and the creme is evenly distributed, so it feels like cutting through soft butter. Taste-wise, I preferred the fruity flavours as there is more depth. Parking: Not too hard to find. Ambience: I was surprised that the place wasn't packed on a long weekend Sunday afternoon. I guess it's somewhat a hidden gem still and I hope it stays that way so I never have to wait in line to get cake 😂. The heritage house-convert-shop has a very calm and quiet atmosphere with 3 sections (the main counter/front, the bright middle room, and a dark back room) with about 10 tables in total I think. Very comfortable space to have cake and sit down with friends for a quiet chat. Overall: Will definitely come back. Will definitely recommend.

Soooo very happy with the Mango and Coconut cake I ordered on the weekend. I got a vegan cake for the first time, to accommodate my Aunties dietary requirements and my goodness. The flavor and the lightness of this cake was amazing. Everyone was so impressed and could not believe it was vegan! I'm going to have to get another for my own bday coming up :D

It was an important celebration, and unfortunately, the damaged cake really affected the moment. To be fair, their initial response was touching — they reached out and even offered to compensate us. That gesture meant a lot at first. However, as the conversation continued, it became clear that the offer was just for show. There was no sincerity in the follow-up, and in the end, nothing actually came from their promise. We remained calm and polite throughout. We didn’t demand anything or act aggressively. But it felt like because of that, they decided they didn’t need to take us seriously anymore — almost as if they only act when a customer is loud or angry. That’s what truly disappointed us. We weren’t after any freebies — the occasion itself was irreplaceable. What upset us was the lack of sincerity. If you don’t mean to follow through, then don’t offer compensation just to appear caring.

The cake come out beautifully. Just a heads up, multi-tier cakes are usually drier than single tier cakes to prevent the cakes from collapsing. The hazelnut chocolate flavour is delicious and the artist did a good job sculpting the figurine out of fondant based only on photographs!

Ordered this beautiful space galaxy theme mirror glazed cake for my son's special birthday celebration. He chose dark chocolate noir as the flavour of the mousse cake. The cake was truly delicious. The luscious decadent chocolate mousse cake just melted in mouth. Love the crunch base as it added texture to the cake.

We had the egg tarts, and a serve of the curry puffs. OMG, the curry puffs are definitely the best we’ve ever had, as they contain an egg inside, such a great touch. And the eggs tarts, they are full of yummy custard, and really nice, flaky pastry. I could only dream to get such nice curry puffs like this in Australia. Apologies for the lack of photos showing the curry puffs, they were so delicious, I forgot to take a snap before eating. You’ll just have to trust me.

This is a grab and go shop. They have some herbal and healthy drinks to aid with digestion. They have pastries for snacks or a light breakfast. The egg tarts come out at 10 am and are worth waiting for. They have a nice, flaky crust. Middle is smooth and full of flavor. Prices are all cheap. The curry puff was good, a bit spicy. The wutaro yaki has some chicken in it, I thought it was just okay. It’s not something that I would order again. The salted egg pastry was also okay, it didn’t have a strong salted egg taste. It was kind of bland. The drinks are tast and worth buying. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I believe they open at 9:30 am. The times on Yelp are wrong.

This shop sells very delicious local pastries, which are freshly baked. The egg tarts and kaya puffs are delicious. They sell herbal drinks and eggs too. There are photo spots within the shop. The male staff there is helpful and friendly. He helped to take photos for us.

Visited the Penang Road outlet — great experience! Conveniently located in a tourist-friendly area, the place has a charming old-school Chinese shophouse vibe and is clean and welcoming. We were served by a Chinese male staff member who was friendly, not pushy at all, and patiently explained the menu items when we had questions. We tried quite a few things, and I highly recommend the Guilin Gao (herbal jelly), Chrysanthemum Tea with Goji, and the Egg Tart (soft with a light, fluffy crust!). The Char Siew Bao was good, though I wasn’t a fan of the Wife Cake (老婆餅), probably just a different style from what we’re used to in Singapore. Note: Seating is very limited (just one or two small tables), so it’s best to takeaway if you're planning a visit. Overall, worth a visit and would recommend!

Fresh, straight out of the oven Chinese pastries. The egg tart and pandan salted egg yolk pastry are must gets! They also offer a variety of drinks that are great for cooling you off in the summer heat.

Room is unmatched with advertise. Disappointed Room design is weird, not clean room , not clean air conditioner. Amenities is very small, not enough. Low WiFi, cannot use. Low pressure of water . No lift. Uncomfortable.

This place has so much potential. They need new management team to rebuilt everything. At least make it liveable. Now it feels soul-less. Dark and gloomy. Water pressure is so sad. Cant shower properly. Room is ok but got that damp feeling. Location is the only thing that makes people chose this place.

Our go to lodging in Penang. Mr Suman is the main man who manages the guesthouse. Always very helpful, can’t imagine this guesthouse without him around. Nice location, rooms are okay and functional with an industrial concept. Filtered drinking water and laundromat available for guests.

A friend of mine from Penang recently brought me a unique snack that I had never tried before. The flavor was delightful, with a perfect balance of sweetness that made each bite enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend giving it a try; it’s definitely worth experiencing.

This slightly sweet slightly savoury tambun biscuit has been in my dreams since I first tasted it 30 years ago. I finally made my way back to Penang to savour this freshly made biscuit again. Nothing you buy overseas can compare. While I love their products, I'm afraid I don't love the attitude of the service staff. Obviously they're not worried about sales! And regardless, I'll always love this biscuit.

Him Heang has only one outlet and it was quite a hassle getting there (to a tourist like me staying in Batu Ferringhi) Fortunately we were visiting E&O Hotel, Blue Mansion and Laksalicious. From there it was about 1.2km walk and it was manageable for us. As mentioned by other reviewers, the shop was quite crowded and noisy. Fortunately I spotted what I wanted and just grabbed 10 boxes of Beh Teh Saw which I guessed wasn’t that popular. The payment counter was manned by an old man and he was getting impatient with an old lady who didn’t understand what he was saying and gave him the wrong amount $$. But finally the old lady had a friend to translate for her. The old man may seem rude but I think it’s just impatience. At another counter, a lady was patiently explaining what the tau sar piah was so I think overall their service wasn’t that bad. Back home, I was impressed that the beh teh saw were individually wrapped and they tasted fresh and crispy. I don’t like Penang’s version of tau sar piah so I didn’t buy any. One suggestion: perhaps Him Heang can arrange delivery for tourists? We will be glad to pay.

Him Heang is one of the few established biskut tambun specialist of Penang. The store is a retail front for their baked goods for a quick buy and go. Staff were very friendly and helpful in guiding what would be suitable. They had some samples we could try to see what we liked. The biskut tambun is truly what I enjoyed the most. We enjoyed a good chat with them when we were there. They shared with us that they make it fresh daily and lasts 10 days because they do not use preservatives or additives. The biskut tambun is very fragrant, not too sweet and has a really good texture. They seem to have limited parking spaces at the front of the store. I highly recommend visiting this store and getting their baked goods.

I think the staff there aren't quite helpful to explain what is what to a non Chinese. The food sold has become so very pricy. Gotta find new options. The Heong Peah is flat, not crispy, almost all of it is not air pack well. Ipoh has better and cheaper ones. Please find other options for these type of snacks. Again, not worth the price.

The rivalry between these two Chinese confectionery heavyweights , Ghee Hiang and Him Heang has been simmering for years, each claiming a loyal following and a piece of Penang’s pastry pride. Here’s my take: Ghee Hiang’s beh teh saw. let’s be honest, comes wrapped in thick, heavy pastry that feels more like a burden than a treat. Just take a look at that photo. Now compare that to Him Heang’s version: crispier, lighter, and oh, that sesame fragrance! The moment you bite into it, there’s a gentle nutty aroma that dances up your nose. Him Heang simply nails it, flaky on the outside, aromatic within. It doesn’t just taste better, it feels better. And let’s talk price. Him Heang gives you 8 pieces for RM12.50. Ghee Hiang? Just 5 for RM12.90. So not only is the taste falling short, the math doesn’t add up either. Where’s the premium going? It certainly isn’t into better ingredients. Sure, Ghee Hiang has the whole heritage story, established first, longer legacy. But you don’t bite into nostalgia, do you? You bite into flavour. Into value. Into a balance between craft and cost. On that front, Him Heang delivers, plain and simple. Sometimes, it’s not about who came first. It’s about who does it right, right now. And in this case, that’s Him Heang.

We came here as it’s closing soon. I came here many years ago and it is a history in Penang now. We love the waffle as it is tasty with the rich chocolate sauce. The soup is quite thick and creamy enough. We love the soup as well. The pumpkin sauce pasta is not my favorite, it is kinda bland. The place has full of board games which attracted many youngsters.

Order their Bacon & Mushroom Carbonara and English Breakfast as our dinner, taste so so and the portion is small for that price. Can't feel full after finish it. Honey Matcha also can't taste honey. Free plain water is provided. After eating I know why don't have people on sunday night because not worth it although the price in the menu is nett price. But this price I can eat more delicious and big portion pasta at other cafe. A bit disappointed to this cafe. Hard to find parking around this area.

Good food and experience for dining, food are fresh and the mango smoothie was also delicious. Went there on a very sunny afternoon, felt a bit hot and aircond is not cold enough. Another thing is food portion is a little small, the smoke duck spaghetti is quite small plate.

One of my fav cafe in Penang. Used to come here often. Decided to drop by again today. Food quality is still good, but the waffle with scramble eggs & bacon was a little disappointing. It’s not salty. Coffee is still good. Service is so so. Server forgot cutleries after serving food. Even gave me the wrong bill when I went to pay. Other than that, it’s alright.

Came here for dessert and just chilling. Place has a lot of coffee choices but not a lot of fizzy drinks choices, which I would preferred after a sunny day. Dessert limited to only waffle and two cake choices (coffee and passion fruit) and two ice-cream choices which is matcha and vanilla. They have more main course and snacks but didn't try them. Ambiance is relaxing and cozy, with a hipster theme. Price is also not too expensive. Great place if you love coffee and wanna grab a meal, but not really for dessert. Still the drinks we tried and their ice-cream are quite nice.

Hin Bus Co Community n Arts Centre is a jewel for Georgetown. This cafe is totally industrial chic and compliments its fantastic location. Top marks for ambience. My latte was very good too. Cannot comment on the food but I suspect it is up there as well.

My first impression is that this café looks cool. Welcomed by friendly and helpful staff. I had shakshouka served with toasted Bengali bread. The tomato gravy has poached eggs and is rich in flavors. The bread is also spread with garlic butter. My friend also got her a light meal because we had other areas to explore. She had wild mushroom soup with toasted bread. We enjoy this thick and creamy soup with decent umami flavors. Because I noticed that this café specializes in coffee, I chose to take away ice hazelnut latte and belatedly regret buying only one coffee.

Great environment. Acai bowl was not up to my expectations. Acai base was barely frozen. Pretty much drinking acai juice. I don't think peanuts and largest slices of unpeeled apples complements acai well in terms of taste and texture. Made the bowl taste salty and stringy.

Very nice staff. Muesli far too sugary, bagels ok but simple without salad on the side. Cream cheese bagel is literally just a bagel with some cream cheese. Hot dog very greasy but the kids loved it. Beautiful market on the other side of the cafe!

Such an amazing cafe. Wonderful coffee!! (Coming from a big coffee lover) and sooooooo delicious cookies. I can’t recommend this place enough. The staff is so nice too. The cafe is super cute with lovely decor. They even have a small shop section, where you can buy their marshmallows and other nice things too.

We ordered the Mallow black, a honey lemon and a classic snore (homemade Graham, milk chocolate and salted caramel marshmallow). Super indulgent with rich chocolate, you have to get a smore here. It paired so well with the saltiness of the salted caramel marshmallow. The Mallow black was a fun sweet twist on a coffee classic, which was topped with vanilla marshmallows. The honey lemon was cool and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. The service also couldn't have been more friendly, and even accepted us despite all of our bags.

The server is really friendly and patience when it comes to service. The drinks pair really well with the marshmellow! We sat beside the window and it was really comfy - enjoying the sound of the rain with warm matcha and chocolate ❤️

Oasis of tranquility @ Huey on a forever-busy street (Lebuh Carnarvon) rich in intra-ethnic conflict between wealthier Hokkiens (on modern caffè side of Lebuh Carnarvon) & « cheaper » Cantonese side of wantan mee stalls & undeveloped shop-houses among which you will always find parking spaces any time of day- unlike Hokkien side of Lebuh Carnarvon & Kimberley St where you’ll be fighting to park. Just ignore stupid English street name after imperial English secretary Earl of Carnarvon.

As a matcha fan, I think this is the place one must visit in Penang. I actually wanted to visit this shop because I saw previously they had a season where they had black sesame items but they have stopped as it was purely seasonal. The owner told me they actually change the menu quite often based on season and also availability so the pictures you see on Google Maps might not always be available. Since they are a Matcha shop, they specialize in matcha items and have more matcha items readily available, but they also don't produce big batches of pastries and also can be unavailable if you come late, so try to visit early. I asked for recommendations and tried the ones that were recommended, the matcha latte and the matcha swiss roll. I actually wanted the yuzu matcha swiss roll and she said there yuzu will add sweetness to it so I decided to keep it just the matcha taste itself. Have to say the quality of the matcha here is pretty good. Loved the strong matcha taste in the latte, and the swiss roll was definitely a delight to eat. The chiffon was so light and soft felt like it could melt in the mouth, and the cream also was super light you couldn't feel the weight of it even when it's in the mouth, but most of all I thought the matcha taste was quite strong and I loved it. Very good matcha experience here and would recommend this place for anyone who loves matcha. Prices are okay but definitely value for the quality.

For matcha lover, you should give yourself a try in this small cozy tea house. I like the matcha latte with moderate bitterness and surprisingly the serving was in big cup. Between matcha latte and matcha burnt cheesecake, I prefer the cheesecake; quite strong matcha taste and not too sweet. However, one thing disappointing me was the attitude from the waitress which is completely not welcoming the customers at all and very rude in answering the question that I asked. The face reaction given clearly shown me that she felt annoyed and frustrated. She was also not paying attention and scrolling on her phone. Hopefully service can be improved to attract more customers.

Decided to try their usucha, initially the lovely barista wanted to give me unkaku by Marukyu Koyamen, but i told her i have the whole line at home already. So she let me tried one of their house single origin (super cool of her). I cant recall the name or origin, if you’re a real matcha lover(NOT W THE MILK TYPE), do ask her. Really nice profile, high umami has some fresh bright taste. Very subtle bitterness but doesn’t at all linger long in the mouth. Loved it. The matcha latte was also very good. The matcha barista lady is actually very engaging and very pleasant to talk to. Discussed about diff matcha topics and all. She’s very knowledgeable and passionate about matcha. I cant comment on other ppls experience with this cafe and their staff but the experience and service I received from them were super nice, friendly and warm. Easy to strike up convos. Love their matcha burnt cheesecake very much, very soft and delicious, had a strong matcha taste. An absolute matcha lover's spot besides the good selection of japanese available here. Enjoyed the desserts in a cozy and zen ambiance.

The overall experience was quite underwhelming. Cafe looks cozy but the space felt slightly stuffy and there was a noticeable dust. Not a very comfortable environment to relax or enjoy. I ordered the Pure Matcha and was surprised by the portion served. It came in a very small volume that felt more like a matcha shot rather than a drink. It did not feel like good value for RM20, especially considering the portion (see image). I also tried the Matcha Burnt Cheesecake. Flavour OK but dry. Staff did not seem welcoming and based on this, will not return.

We decided to get a cake from Sunflower Homemade Cakes after our breakfast in Tanjung Bungah area. This cute little bakery is located in Double Spoon. The place is beautifully decorated with plants and flowers. The inside of the bakery is so cute and has a few varieties of cakes and cookies on display. We decided to get the Walnut Coffee Cake for an early birthday celebration. The cake is so fresh and delicious! They were very generous with the chopped walnuts and the buttercream icing tasted amazing, full of coffee flavour. Every bite was a delightful one. Yummylicious!

Glad its not so sweet.... And the layer cake is simply excellent. Soft and very rich in favor. And again... Not the extremely sweet. A strong 5 star rating to the taste at a very reasonable price.

Freshly made coffee. Absolutely perfect egg tarts with raisins inside! I think that's quite unique. And the glaze on top was a joy. The tart was soft and yet not mushy. The chicken floss bread was good too. Their iced coffee with milk was made from a fresh brew and the taste is strong yet balanced. Friendly service as well. This place has a good atmosphere, offering croissants and pastries. Quite good looking cakes too. Available for ordering to go.

10.90 coffee take away pricy with the mini cup. This is not a coffee shop, serve the pricy coffee ☕️. Disappointed .

An accidental found, walked by this place while going to a massage spot upstairs and saw some pretty interesting pastries .. had some garlic bread and croissant and the staff were courteous to offer to heat it up and it was marvelous. The cakes also looked good too but never got to try.

Really good food and drinks. Not giving them a five star as when we opt to eat at the restaurant they did jot warm up the food as the other bakeries usually do. But food is amazing even their teas and drinks.

As a dessert lover, I was extremely disappointed with the Tiramisu and crème brûlée I ordered. Both of them weren’t tasting great at all. The tiramisu was overloaded with the topping and under filled fillings. The crème brûlée didn’t taste great and had raisins! Bruh! Who puts raisins in them! Yike. It was the worst food I tried in Penang. Can surely go try better bakeries in Penang. This isn’t good enough.

What kind of a bakery is this? Opens only at 9 am, many things such as croissants are only available in the late morning. Very interesting

This shop is definitely not an easy one to find mainly because it's blocked by tree and located deep inside. Better walk using Google Map, since parking nearby is mostly occupied. Variety of handcrafted old school biscuits. Bought their famous pepper cracker and coconut tart. To me, the cracker taste like crispy chicken biscuit (鸡仔饼). Taste ok, not very peppery. Crunchy and thick. Coconut tart was a suprise. Outer layer crunch like a cookie. The paste inside is soft, moist and sweet with the aroma of coconut. A very pleasing dessert. Going back again for it.

Really old school and a little difficult to find. In a back alley and the sign board is hidden as there are huge trees blocking. Has popular old school biscuits for those who miss. Everything is pre-packed so they are pretty fresh.

Old school master still making one of Penang's traditional cookies. The shop is very secluded and difficult to find. But once you found it, it is a gem.

Very old school Chinese bakery. Do pay them a visit when you visit Georgetown, Penang and try their famous coconut tarts and pepper biscuits. Yum!

This cafe is located inside Chapel Street cafe. 3 cafes housed in the same lot. Quite confusing for tourists and even Grab drivers. The burnt cheesecake is not bad but a bit sweet. Service is good but only cash is accepted here. Love the setting and deco

The original cheesecake taste is good, but the bubble bang milk is just average. You might find it hard to locate the cafe for first timer, it is actually located beside a temple without sign board. The cafe ambient is nice, suitable for instagram photo!

I totally can’t understand the craze over this bubble milk tea and bubble tea cheesecake. Both the dirty boba milk tea and hojicha boba milk latte taste just like water mixed with those powders. Doesn’t even taste like milk at all. The babo (tapioca) are too chewy and not really fresh for me. The burnt cheesecake is just soso. Not soft enough and not delicate enough. But at least that’s the only thing I feel acceptable among the three food and beverages I had ordered. The tapiaco is not good also. Personally I think I won’t be coming back again only if the quality of the beverages and food got better.

Ordered bubble cheesecake with Earl grey flavor. Cheesecake was indeed satisfying. Appreciate the service provided by the barista, with nice ambiance, we had a pleasant time there.

Cheese cake with bubble tea brown sugar so yummy. And the deco of the cafe also so cozy, modern and nice.

Not really as so good as the comments go. Cheese cake is ok, pricy as predicted. The bubble milk tea just below average for me. More places can serve better and CHEAPER bubble milk tea than here. Environment quite nice, thats why it gets more than 2 stars.

I live quite close by so Love A Loaf is always a go-to bakery for me. My review here is about dining in but of course as with any other Asian bakery you can take away all manner of bread buns, cakes, sandwiches, and cookies! Some of my favourites that I think you can’t go wrong with are: 💚 Fuji kaya bread bun (love how soft the bread is!) 🥐 Almond danish (sufficiently sweet and nutty) 🥪 Any of the box sandwiches (I’ve tried them all and they’re always fresh and generous with the fillings!) 🧀 Cheese cake (creamy and just the right amount of sweet) As for dining in, you’re able to get the buns and cakes to have a quick bite at the cafe as well. They also have pasta options though I haven’t tried these. I think the atmosphere is pretty chilled and the service is very friendly. One small thing though, if you don’t like the bright sunlight then dining in might not be an option for you during the day because it can get rather bright. All in all, a reliable bakery with plenty of options 👍🏻🥰

Newly renovated Love A Loaf with cozy 'cafe feeling' decorations. Different bread and pastry selection exclusively at this branch. Dynamic lighting and comfy cushion provides a welcoming environment for a good coffee session. Pastry goods have good presentation and are on the higher price at around RM4-RM7 per bun.

Very disappointed with this outlet. There used to be fresh buns and lots of options sharp at 8am but it got delayed to 8:30am and now, at almost 9am, the shelfs are empty with a few overnight left over buns. Very disappointed that one used to be a well managed outlet has deteriorated so badly.

Nice simple cafe bakery. Ordered a chocolate cake for birthday celebration, overall it was very chocolatey and satisfying. Also bought their pastries and bread and were surprised how delicious and priced well too 🥐🥖🍰☕️

The cafe is cosy but not the service. Perhaps my expectation was higher. Bought garlic sausage and hoping staff will heat it up since I dine in. Nothing and I just can't be bother to ask. Ordered mocha ice but taste like cappuccino ice. The champ Belgium cake is superb, with rich of chocolate taste and not sweet. Both staff (Chinese girl and malay girl) are not attentive, one of them was busy playing with phone. Didn't say thank you whatsoever despite me thanking them upon making payment and upon the Chinese girl delivered the mocha to me.

A lovely place with a wide selection of buns, pastries and cakes to choose from. They also have these " Humming bread pair " sets that are perfect for a simple breakfast. I really enjoyed their "Bacon Runaway" .The spaghetti bolognese was average , really plain .Their double chocolate drink was thick and creamy and the coffee was decent. Though the prices are above average , you're getting a bang for your buck in terms of food quality.

It's a quaint shop within the neighborhood that offers comfort drinks at a fair price. There's a good selection of baked goods although I didn't get to try all of them, but they all look fresh and tasty.
