Beaches
Batu Ferringhi Beach, located 11km from City Center, George Town in Penang, offers a thrilling holiday experience with its array of adventure sports and leisure activities. Visitors can enjoy jet skiing, parasailing, buggy rides on the golden sand, deep sea fishing, and banana boat rides. The beach is also known for its mesmerizing sunsets.
A Perfect Beach Getaway in Penang! Batu Ferringhi Beach is truly one of the highlights of Penang! The beach is clean, the sand is soft, and the sunsets here are absolutely stunning. The vibe is very relaxed during the day, perfect for a peaceful walk or just lounging under the shade with a book. In the evening, the place comes alive with the famous night market nearby offering everything from local street food to souvenirs and handicrafts. Plenty of water sports are available too — jet skiing, parasailing, and banana boats for the more adventurous. The surrounding area has lots of beachfront resorts and cafes, so it's easy to spend the whole day here. Highly recommended for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. Can't wait to visit again!

This beach definitely has potential, boasting beautiful scenery that makes it a pleasant spot to visit. However, its current state holds it back from being truly great. With some attention to organization and cleanliness, this could be a fantastic destination. The lack of proper upkeep is noticeable and detracts from the natural beauty. Furthermore, if they take care of facilities, particularly bathrooms, it is a significant drawback. Improving these aspects would vastly enhance the visitor experience and allow the beach to live up to its full potential.
Fatima A — Google review
Batu Ferringhi Beach is an okay spot for a beach day in Penang. There are plenty of restaurants and bars lined up along the shore, and many places host fire shows at night, which makes the evenings lively. The backdrop of trees and mountains adds to the scenery and gives the beach a nice vibe. That said, the water isn’t very clear and the sand isn’t soft or white like you might expect from tropical beaches elsewhere. Still, it’s one of the better beach escapes in Penang if you’re looking to get away from the city and enjoy a relaxed seaside atmosphere.
Hayan . — Google review
Batu Ferringhi Beach is a mix of postcard views and unexpected fashion choices. The sand is soft, the waves are gentle, and then you look up and realize half the people in the water are fully dressed like they just wandered in from the mall. Jet skis buzz by, parasails float overhead, and somehow it all works — chaotic but charming. A great spot for sunsets, people-watching, and wondering how those jeans will ever dry.
Miles M — Google review
A Quiet Beach (Visited on September 10, 2025) One of beach can be found at Penang Island is Batu Ferringhi Beach. Batu Ferringhi Beach has clean and pristine white color sand and vibrant light blue color water. Looks so calm and peaceful on the same time. The traits of the beach doesn't correlate with the popularity. Batu Ferringhi Beach remain quiet. Very suitable for introvert. A bit out of topic yet useful information, Batu Ferringhi Beach can be accessed from Starbucks Batu Ferringhi branch. It had direct access to the beach, albeit needed to across the outlet at first.
Handi S — Google review
Not the most exciting of beaches and it judt didnt look inviting to swim. Perhaps just the sandy sediment but it felt dirty. Maybe it was the wet weather and under better conditions it would be nicer. Just wasnt a fan here. Perhaps visit if you have nothing else to do.

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Gardens
Nestled in the natural landscapes of Waterfall River Valley, Penang Botanic Gardens is a 30-hectare public park featuring a diverse range of botanical exhibits. Despite being commonly known as 'Waterfall Gardens,' there's no actual waterfall within the park. However, visitors can still enjoy exploring the extensive tropical rainforest, rare species of ferns, an herb garden, and an orchidarium.
Penang Botanical Gardens is a beautiful and peaceful escape right outside the city. The grounds are well-kept, full of lush greenery, and home to a surprising variety of plants and wildlife. It’s a great place for a morning walk, light hike, or just to enjoy nature. Highly recommend visiting if you want a break from the bustle of George Town. A perfect spot for both locals and travelers to recharge in nature.
William O — Google review
The Botanical Garden in George Town is like nature showing off. 🌿 Lush greenery, giant trees, flowers everywhere—it’s the perfect spot if you want some peace, fresh air, or just a break from city life. Walking through feels like you’ve stepped into a real-life jungle postcard. But… let’s talk about the real bosses of the garden: the monkeys. 🐒 They’re not just monkeys, they’re naughty monkeys with PhDs in mischief. One moment you’re admiring the plants, the next you’re checking if a monkey is planning to “borrow” your water bottle, snack, or maybe even your dignity 😉😁. They’re funny to watch...but keep your bags closed and your food hidden, unless you want to star in their next comedy show. Just remember—botanical paradise above, cheeky monkeys plotting below. 😂
Souad Y — Google review
Penang Botanical Gardens - Free admission - Nice and spacious area to walk around - lots of trees. It takes about 2 hours to walk around. There are many branching paths, but each path is not very different. - but be careful of the monkeys, some are quiet and some are aggressive. - Finally, it extremely hot.
Tashin J — Google review
Really beautiful gardens to walk around and search for wildlife. Don’t expect banks of flowers as there are very few, but lots of amazing forest trees and some narrow paths winding through the trees and following water ways. Great to spend 2 or so hours enjoying the stunning scenery. Please don’t feed the monkeys and if photographing the them do not get too close to younger ones as their elders may get a bit protective and angry.
Jonbristolbs4 — Google review
This place is very calming and stress free environment.. Is very close to mother nature and suitable for kids too.. Recommend place for morning joggers.. The only downside is we have to walk all the way in because there's closure road due to construction but overall is a nice place..
Boon W — Google review
The Penang Botanical Gardens is one of the most refreshing spots to escape into nature while still being close to the city. It’s a beautifully landscaped area with wide open lawns, shaded walking paths, and a mix of curated gardens and wild greenery. 🌿 Nature & Scenery The gardens are spacious and well-maintained, featuring a variety of plants including orchids, ferns, palms, and unique tropical trees. Some areas, like the lily ponds and fountain gardens, are perfect for a slow, relaxing stroll. There are also small waterfalls and streams, which add a natural charm to the setting. The Understorey Florarium is an interesting stop if you enjoy learning about local plant species. 🦜 Wildlife As you walk around, you’ll likely spot plenty of monkeys and squirrels. The monkeys can be cheeky, so it’s best not to carry food openly or get too close. Bird sounds fill the air, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. 🚶 Walking & Hiking There are several trails that connect to nearby hills and forest areas, making this a good starting point for longer hikes if you’re up for it. Otherwise, the paved paths are comfortable for a casual walk, even with family or kids. 🌸 Atmosphere The overall vibe is peaceful, though weekends can get crowded with joggers, families, and tourists. Mornings are the best time to visit for cooler weather and fewer crowds. 💰 Entry & Accessibility Entry is free, which makes this an incredible value. It’s also accessible for wheelchairs and strollers in the main areas, though some trails are more rugged. Parking is available near the entrance. ✨ Overall A must-visit in Penang if you enjoy nature. It’s not only a botanical garden but also a blend of manicured beauty and wild rainforest edge. Perfect for a walk, photography, or just to enjoy fresh air away from the city buzz.
Hayan . — Google review
I visited Penang Botanical Gardens on a weekday morning and found a peaceful, green space close to George Town. 😊 Entry is free and the main gate has a small cafe for overpriced coffee and cold drinks. There is a small foodcourt too by the entrance. I walked the main path from the gate, past the lily pond and along the stream toward the quarry and secret garden, and the whole route is shady, easy to follow and full of birdlife. If you like bird watching this place is excellent. 😍 I added the birds found in this area image to my review for you birdwatchers out there 😌 A small stream with gentle falls runs through the park and there are lawns and benches for resting. Trails are signposted and some lead into longer hikes toward Penang Hill if you want to explore further. Wildlife sightings are frequent: I saw dusky leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, lots of birds and many butterflies. Practical tips: go in the morning for the best experience, bring binoculars and a camera with a zoom lens for birdwatching, and keep snacks zipped away because macaques can get bold 😅. The park map and the bird ID images I attached are helpful for matching what you see to names. Overall, the main walking loop from the gate to the quarry and back will give you the best variety in one visit and can easily take two to three hours if you stop and watch. Facilities are basic but generally clean, with public toilets near the entrance and limited parking. Bring water, sun protection and insect repellent for comfort.
Pritesh — Google review
Nice gardens, monkeys were interesting and a bit of fun. I headed off on a steep side track that lead to some water falls, very peaceful but what a sweat on the way up.

Penang Hill, also known as Bukit Bendera, is a must-visit destination in Penang, Malaysia. Visitors can take a unique tram to reach the hill and enjoy breathtaking views of Georgetown port terminal, Penang Bridge, and the city's skyline from various observation decks. The hill offers a serene retreat with its diverse array of tropical plants and vibrant flowers at the Penang Botanic Gardens.
Fabulous day enjoying the stunning views and finding wildlife in the trees, bushes and plants. Walk around quietly and keep your eyes open to find some amazing wildlife and insects Absolutely amazing venue with clear well maintained paths.
Jonbristolbs4 — Google review
Penang Hill, locally known as Bukit Bendera, is a refreshing escape from the heat and hustle of George Town. Reaching the summit, over 800 meters above sea level, is an adventure in itself, thanks to the iconic, steeply inclined funicular railway. While lines for the train can be lengthy during peak hours—a quick tip: consider the fast-lane ticket to save time—the view from the top makes the journey worthwhile. The peak offers spectacular, panoramic vistas of the island, George Town’s skyline, and the mainland. It's especially magical during sunset or when the city lights twinkle at night. The air is noticeably cooler, often dropping several degrees, providing genuine respite. Beyond the viewing decks, the hill is steeped in history, featuring colonial-era bungalows and diverse religious sites, including a mosque and a Hindu temple. The prime attraction, however, is The Habitat. This world-class rainforest discovery center features the Curtis Crest Tree Top Walk and the Langur Way Canopy Walk, allowing visitors to walk high above the 130-million-year-old rainforest. It's an immersive experience for nature lovers, rich in flora and fauna. Penang Hill is a charming blend of natural beauty, colonial heritage, and modern eco-tourism, offering something for every visitor seeking cooler climes and breathtaking sights.

So much of new development since I last came in August 2025. Tram service is good, organised, and efficient. Didn't have to wait for too long. The experience of going uphill and downhill in the tram is interesting. Once up there, you will be greeted with gentle and chill breeze, it's so refreshing. There are a few platforms for photo shooting and enjoying the view of penang island. A lot of souvenir stalls and there's a food courts where you can enjoy local delicacies. So many kid-friendly activities here. For this trip, I visited the Habitat, a reserve forest where u can take tour guide to bring you through the forest on the canopy bridge, it is well maintained and the scenery is just spectacular. We stayed here till sunset. What a perfect experience to enjoy the beauty of Penang.

Penang hill was literally the highlight of our visit to Penang island. The cable car ride and the view from the top are none to second. We were unfortunately late so we didn’t manage to visit the habitat which was a pity but maybe a good reason to come back.

Penang Hill is definitely one of the must-visit UNESCO sites in Penang! 🌿 The view from the top is absolutely stunning and the weather is super cool and nice escape from the city heat. Loved the tram ride up, smooth and scenic! 🚞 Great place to explore and spend quality time with family. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Penang!

Best place to overlook the whole Penang Island. We are lucky as it is low season in Nov and weekday, don’t need to wait too long for the cable car to go up. A refresh walk after raining too. 😌

Went up by train. Cool and breezy evening. Penang Hill offers a contrast to the warm and humid island. Great view of Penang city at night.

This hill is a beautiful place combination of beauty, heritage, modern eco tourism , breathtaking and many more. This is at the 800 meters above the sea level and it is away from the town. Very clean place. The hill is very steeped, one ca experience various flora and fauna,130 million years old rainforest etc. Lastly, reaching the peak itself is an adventure in itself. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Penang, the Dhammikarama Burmese Temple is a stunning testament to Burmese architecture and spirituality. Established in 1803 by the local Burmese community, this temple boasts intricate golden columns and an impressive giant Buddha statue that captivates visitors. As you stroll through its beautifully landscaped gardens, you'll encounter various shrines adorned with colorful sculptures and unique statues, including a fascinating replica of the world supported by mythical horse-like creatures.
It's temple from burma. I'm not sure why thye still call "Burma". Anyway this temple is very big. And the sculpture of the main hall is awsome. It's decorated on the wall and ceilling. I cannot imagine how they made. And there is a tower at back, and you can come up to the top (4th floor?) by elevator and you can see the temple from the top.
The W — Google review
This Burmese temple is located directly opposite Chaiya Mangalaram Thai Buddhist Temple. Similarly, it has been decades since I last visited and really relieved to see this temple is well maintained. I visited on a weekday and am glad I made that choice. As this site is a recommended tourist & historical site, going a weekday meant it was less crowded and I could enjoy the sights there. During my visit, there were almost no tourist in sight except for Buddhist devotees at that time. Some tips and highlights: - There are no issues with photos and videos of the temple (inside & outside). - Shoes must be taken off before entering the buildings. - There are plenty of statues, carvings and paintings; worth taking your time admiring and looking through them. - There are some sections of the temple where artwork, Buddhist trinkets, statues, Burmese Jade and many more items sold. - When I visited, there was a monk in the main shrine hall that was available for blessings. - The temple has a building housing many standing Buddha statues. In this building, there are beautiful wood carvings all over. At the back of the building, there are many different statues representing the different countries. Each statues has slightly different facial features representative of that country. - There is no admission fee. Visitors are welcome to donate any amounts they wish to. - There are beggars on the temple grounds but nothing to worry about. Overall, the temple has a very peaceful atmosphere. I would happily return again to this temple any given day.

Beautiful Burmese temple. You arrive and feel calm walking around. The statues and temple are beautifully presented and people are very friendly

The Burmese Buddha temple with lots of Buddha statue. Peaceful and feel Clam place to visit. This Burmese Buddha temple is opposite the Chaiya Mangalaram Thai Buddha temple.

Right opposite the Thai Buddhist Temple. If you are looking for inner peace just walk around the monestary. The wood worked paneling and gold leaf work is just amazing.
Muhammed H — Google review
This is about the best Buddhist temple I have ever seen. I have been to most Asian countries. Well worth a visit.
David P — Google review
It is said to be the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia, divided into two by a street. You can take bus number 201 to get there, which is not very far from the old town of Penang, making it very convenient as the bus stops right there. The most striking feature in the left temple is the paintings above the corridor on both sides, depicting the life of Buddha. These paintings are not by a single artist; their styles and quality vary, all funded by Buddhists. Some of the paintings are exceptional, while others clearly exhibit the style of Relikh. The temple is adorned with various statues, complemented by green vegetation, creating a beautiful scene. In the main temple, monks are performing rituals for the faithful. The Buddha statue worshipped in this main temple is a modern creation, not only differing in facial and bodily appearance from the traditional Buddha images but also adorned with an electronic light halo on its head. Across the street is the Reclining Buddha temple. Inside, the Reclining Buddha measures 33 meters in length, the largest I have seen. The one I saw in Yangon, Myanmar, was 27 meters, but this one seemed smaller, perhaps due to its height. Behind and beneath the Reclining Buddha are columbariums for storing ashes, each niche marked with photos, birth and death dates, and various urns. It was striking to see the ashes of a graceful, beautiful young woman and a handsome, clear-eyed young man who had left the world in their twenties, truly a lamentable sight. Here, too, donations are called for and welcomed, but without the pervasive smell of money like at the temple of extreme joy. Temples mostly rely on donations for survival, and as long as it is not excessive, it is considered normal. Near the end of the visit, a friendly reminder on the wall warned of thieves stealing shoes left outside, which could be a disaster in such hot weather, prompting a swift departure.

Adventure Zone is a hotel-based amusement park in Penang, offering a variety of all-age activities such as slides, video games, and a playground. It's the perfect place for kids to unleash their energy and take a break from the hot sun, as the entire building is air conditioned. For RM 35 per entry, children under 12 can enjoy the soft play area and indoor slides while parents can watch from the waiting area for free.
Amazing. Suitable for short escape to bring the kids to drain their energy. Especially when it is raining. We didn't say in the hotel but we can still enter the place with some additional payment of course
Muhsina H — Google review
Nice place for kids to have fun, remember to wear socks, with long pants and long sleeves.
Hong T — Google review
This is probably the best "theme park" I've ever been too. We went as a family and all had a great time. Zip lines, high ropes courses, trampolines and reasonable priced food. We felt the operation was quite safe and that is very important in a park of this nature.
Michael R — Google review
Good place for a rest with kids up to 9-10 years old. Prices are not high, especially during weekdays. The adventures include both: waterpark and gamezone. For gamezone the kid needs to have socks, long pants and a T-shirt with long sleeves. These can also be bought at the location, quality is good, but prices are quite high.
Yuliia C — Google review
RM 35 per entry for each kid under 12, parents enter FOC to watch at the waiting area. We visited the Adventure Zone when we were on our way home after visiting Entopia, weeks ago. My kids had a lot of fun even without the long sleeves. They were wearing short sleeves + long pants + socks. Suffered some blisters, minor bruises and scratches a little bit because they were rough boys but they had so much fun. It was all smiles and they were sweaty after 1-2 hours of fun. Slept so soundly that night.
Mindemeanor — Google review
Decent place for kids for 2 hours. Not alot of equipment and setup, more suitable for older kids from 7. Slides or what you call it is too steep. Could have been better given the price and far location
Zheng T — Google review
Amazing indoor playground. 26rm per kids for hotel guest and adults go in for FREE. Long pants and sleeves needed for the gigantic slides. Well maintained facilities and toilets. It is a bit crowded during weekend but more fun for kids.
Jiarui S — Google review
Pretty fun place for kids. It's mainly 3 big slides. It caters mainly for hotel guest but walk in guest are allowed in for rm35 per child for 2 hours. Kids should wear long sleeve shirts and pants with socks. U could buy socks and the shirt here but no pants. Staff is friendly and helpful. My kid had a fall an cut her upper lip which started bleeding. They came in very fast with the first aid kit and helped us out. Would probably come back again

Nature & Parks
Penang National Park, located on the northwest shore of the island, is a 1,213-hectare oceanfront park boasting diverse habitats and over 400 plant species. Despite its small size of 23 square kilometers, it encompasses forests, mangroves, and a long coastal stretch with timber trees lining powdery white sand. The park offers various trails leading through jungle terrain and along the coastline to landmarks like the Muka Head lighthouse.
RM50 for park entrance fee, for foreigners. The trail takes about 1.5-2hrs. Trail start from Hiking Area@Penang National Park (Taman Negara Pulau Pinang). There is to and/or fro boat rides from here, at a chargeable price. Trail ends at Pantai Keracut if you taking boat (follow the memorial lake sign at the split trail). The boat pick up time is pretty on time.

Nice nice place for exploring penang nature. Excited to get deep in to the jungle following the trails. Cons: the price for foreigner is high (rm50), ticket counter temporarily closes at noon.
Ngocthao H — Google review
I visited Penang National Park last week. So far, the place is really nice and I enjoyed it, which made it a good experience in Penang. However, I had a very unpleasant experience at the counter. For me, the staff were a bit rude. We didn’t know that starting from October 1st it had already gone cashless. The staff at the leftmost counter—when we asked, “Oh, why is it cashless?”—he replied, “I don’t know. You can ask HQ.” What? Then we asked, “Where is HQ?” and he said, “Go ask Google, I don’t know, don’t ask me. If you want to go, pay. Pay by card. If you don’t want to go, then don’t.” He spoke in English, but at the same time he was ranting in Malay. And of course, I understood, but I stayed quiet because he was talking to my partner. I pretended I didn’t understand Malay because I didn’t want any argument. Then I paid with Visa. But please educate your customer service. Their attitude is very rude. And yes, why couldn’t they answer very simple questions with very simple answers?
Raama M — Google review
Did the hike to turtle beach and boat ride to monkey beach. Rather fun though wet weather caused the soil to be muddy ad slippery. Bring your swimsuit as the turtle beach is nice.
Elaine Q — Google review
Beautiful hike through the jungle, it takes about 1.5h from the entrance to turtle beach. The hike is initially mostly uphill for about 40 minutes and it would definitely be best to wear closed shoes since it can be very slippery. Turtle beach is beautiful and empty, however doesn‘t provide any restaurant/shop. We then took a boat to Monkey Beach, which - as the name suggests - is full of the monkeys on the picture. It has two small open restaurants, one of which offers malaysian food, the other offers western food (fries, chicken nuggets etc.). The boat afterwards took us back to the entrance - you could also walk the rest. Entrance-fee to the park is 50 RM per person (senior citizens >60y enter for free!), for the boat we payed 120 RM for two people.
C M — Google review
Entrance fee was MYR 50 for foreigner was too steep as it was essentially a hiking trail. Took the Turtle Beach Trail, took us more than 1.5 he as it rained heavily before we started off. The trail was quite challenging as some parts were muddy. Came back to Telok Bahang by boat. Stopped at Monkey Beach. Turtle Beach and Monkey Beach were sandy and cleaner than Batu Ferringhi.
Lloyd O — Google review
We visited the National Park Penang where we had a fantastic day and experience. We hiked the 1 - 1.5 hour tour to the turtle beach where we visited the sanctuary and chilled for about an hour. The boat picked us up and brought us to the monkey beach where we spent another hour and enjoyed a coconut. After that the boat took us back to the spot where we started the day. We started around 1 pm and finished around 5:30 pm. Entrance fee is 50MYR per person and the boat fee was 120MYR per group (2 pax). Cash payment only but there is an ATM next to the entrance. Coke Zero 6MYR Coconut 10MYT

The Habitat Penang Hill is a must-visit attraction on the island, offering an educational and enjoyable experience in the pristine rainforest. Visitors can explore the lush tropical rainforest, learn about its flora and fauna, and take short nature trails. The highlight is the treetop and canopy walk that provides a unique perspective of the area.
The Habitat on Penang Hill is absolutely worth the price of admission. The trails offer a pleasant hike surrounded by nature, and the treetop walk provides spectacular views and photo opportunities. Along the way, there are plenty of insects, birds, and other wildlife to observe. The highlight for me was the Langur Way Canopy Walk—breathtaking and beautifully designed. Everything was very well maintained and clean. For those not comfortable with heights, there’s an alternate trail that allows you to bypass the canopy walk.

I’ve been to Penang many many times but never to Penang Hill. Penang hill surprised me on the upside and The Habitat was the highlight of the visit. When we visited, the weather was cool and so, the walk was extra enjoyable. The jungle is pristine, the place is clean and the canopy walkway was very well done. More so the Curtis Cresent. We encountered a few interesting creatures - a black and red caterpillar, monkeys and a black yellow squirrel which was so healthy that its fur was glossy black. Malaysian with an OKU card goes in for free. Thank you to the mgmt for the kind offer. Much appreciated.

Wonderful experience throughout. The park is well kept, the view is stunning, signages are easy to follow. I love it how they are not overly commercialised, the gift shop carries good options, and the cafe items are reasonable. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable. They have water dispensers dotted around the park, which I very much appreciate. We’ve got tonnes of great pictures. And icing on the cake is that there is buy 1 feee 1 promotion on Sundays through Sept - Oct!

The Habitat Penang Hill was one of the most peaceful and refreshing places I visited in Malaysia. After the short funicular ride up Penang Hill, I entered this lush rainforest reserve and it felt like stepping into another world. The air was cool, birds were chirping, and everywhere I looked was a sea of green. Walking along the Curtis Crest Treetop Walk was the highlight, standing above the canopy with a 360° view of Penang Island, the mainland. The Habitat preserves one of the last remnants of Penang original rainforest, believed to be over 130 million years old. Its designed not just as a tourist spot but also as an eco-education center promoting conservation and sustainable tourism.

Loved it - If I could give Habitat a 6th star I would- absolutely loved this place. I love trees, nature, forest bathing, etc. - so Habitat is great for us. Loved the sky-walk from both a highly visual experience of walking at tree 🌳 top level but also from a sheer engineering feature perspective. Great also to meet Andrew S and habitat team and understandit better. We also loved the pathway as this takes you out of treetop s abd brinngs closer to the rich flora and fauna. Great coffee and good quality merchandise at the store. Recommendation - get straight off the Funicular and go to Habitat. Loved 😍 it. Comhghairdeas 💚 agus Tog go bog e 💚

Wonderful immersive experience, allowing a tree top view with the canopy walk and skywalk. The staff were hugely knowledgeable sharing great insights - especially Andrew Stevenson who shared a fascinating account of how they managed to construct the canopy walk without any disturbance to the rainforest floor. The Habitat has also been designed to make it fully accessible for disabled visitors. Also a great experience for kids. And finally a welcome few degrees cooler than Georgetown ! ☺️

The Habitat Penang Hill: An Immersive Rainforest Escape The Habitat at Penang Hill offers a profoundly refreshing escape from the hustle of George Town, plunging visitors straight into a 130-million-year-old tropical rainforest ecosystem. This eco-tourism attraction is dedicated to conservation and education, providing a high-quality experience that highlights the island’s rich natural heritage. The key attractions are designed to give unique perspectives on the canopy. The Langur Way Canopy Walk, a two-span stressed ribbon bridge, allows you to stroll high above the forest floor, offering close-up views of the diverse flora and fauna, including the endangered Dusky Leaf Langurs. For 360-degree vistas, the Curtis Crest Tree Top Walk is essential. As the highest viewing platform on Penang Hill, it provides stunning, unobstructed panoramic views stretching across the island and the Andaman Sea—a perfect spot for photography, especially during sunset. The well-maintained 1.6km nature trail, originally a colonial-era path, is accessible and gentle, making it suitable for all fitness levels. Along the way, informative panels detail the region's biodiversity, from giant squirrels to exotic insect life. For those seeking deeper insight, the guided walks and specialized experiences like birdwatching or forest bathing are highly recommended. While the funicular ride and entry fee add up, the pristine environment and the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in this ancient ecosystem make The Habitat a worthwhile, memorable, and tranquil retreat. It's a must-visit for nature lovers seeking peace and spectacular views.

It was a great experience walking the Habitat with Mr Lau and Khye. Mr Lau’s bird spotting was outstanding. He helped me hit my 100th lifer which was my target and Mr Khye explaining to my wife about the plants and flowers around was very interesting. We were hit by a heavy downpour midway through the tour but that didn’t dampen our spirit. Overall it was a morning well spent. We will definitely come to Habitat and go for the tour again in our next visit. It’s a tour I strongly recommend for first time visitors to Habitat. Thanks and looking forward to visit you guys again. 🙏😄

Hawker center
Restaurant
When visiting Penang, make sure to stop by Long Beach Cafe, also known as a hawker center, for a taste of authentic local hawker food. This open-air food court offers a wide variety of Malaysian favorites such as Char Koay Teow, Nasi Lemak, Satay and BBQ Chicken Wings at reasonable prices. The cafe is popular among both locals and tourists due to its delicious offerings.
Really fun place, lots of food stalls in one area. You sit at a table then head to order food from the various stalls, they deliver it freshly cooked to your table. The satay at the entrance are delicious, really like the dumplings too! Serves beers and pork too. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in ferringhi

The Fried King Prawns and Calamari at SIZZLING PLATE is excellent! Char Kway Teow noodles is tasty. Penang Laksa is yum ! Very inexpensive foods overall. It’s an interesting food hall under one roof. Very casual place with plastic lawn chairs but it’s comfortable unless you want an air conditioner or more comfortable restaurant 👌

Amazing food court place, pretty clean, pretty easy to find a table, a centralised drinks place, paid in cash, tried a Malaysian, Indian & Chinese place over the 2 nights of coming here this week, all food was yummy and economical prices, thank you! Also, recommend trying the barley drink, it was pretty good!

Came here from a recommendation by a friend. Absolutely loved our meal at Jimmy Seafood Grill Fish! Jimmy and his wife Po Em were so welcoming — you can really taste the love and passion they put into their food. The flavours were bold and full of zest, with perfectly cooked squid and the freshest grilled king prawns I’ve had in ages. A real hidden gem run by a lovely couple — can’t wait to come back!

Large venue and whilst it seems super chaotic at the first look, it's a pretty organised food court. The venue is fairly clean and has decent airflow from all the fans. Each table has a table number and a lot of stalls will give you a buzzer to collect your food when it is ready. Others will deliver it to your table once prepared. Both take payment after food arrives, instead of at the point of order. We tried the satay that is near the entrance. It had a 20 min wait as it is quite popular. 10pc ayam satay for 16myr. The sticks were meaty with minimal fat and tasty. On another night we got some more for take away, still good but a long wait. 2x small Char kuey teow for 18myr from the stall on the right next to the oyster stall. These were good, the prawns were fresh and meaty. Oyster omelette from the stall next door, I think 9myr. Acceptable apparently but not many oysters. Hor fun, again decent but nothing amazing. The ayam mee goreng from the stall next to the satay one, this was decent. For drinks, Barley tea panas, Milo ais and fresh coconut were fine, coconut is very fresh. Not the largest food court but a decent selection. Our first meal for 3 ppl cost 71myr. You can prob get away with a basic meal for about 10myr to 18myr if your want to stick to a backpackers budget.
Louis T — Google review
The food is a bit expensive for local people because the shop mainly attracts tourists from other countries. Some of the food is a bit bland, but some is tasty. Long Beach Cafe can do more better next time
TIMOTHYTINGGI — Google review
Tried the sizzling noodles, paprik fried rice and fried oyster. The fried rice and noodles were pretty good. The fried oyster came drenched in oil, it had me questioning whether these clams were from the sea or oil rigs 🥲 Could barely eat a quarter of it. The food court itself has a good number of stalls with a video variety of cuisines to choose from. Along the street leading up to it is a number of stalls selling souvenirs of sorts. Parking was slightly tough to find, beware of overpriced public parking spaces, saw one that was RM25 per entry which is wayyyy overpriced. A little bit further down (next to the Starbucks) are parking spots priced at RM7-10, thats a better range.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Hands down the best mall in Penang!" This place is absolutely incredible and a definite must-visit. It offers the perfect mix of shopping: you have high-end luxury brands like Hugo Boss and Coach on the lower levels, but if you head up to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors, you’ll find great budget-friendly shops and everything you could possibly need for mobile phones and tech. Don't miss the food court! It is sublime—very affordable, high quality, and always bustling (for good reason). Whether you are here for dining or shopping, it is absolutely banging. This is one of the most popular shopping mall in Penang. It has been around for a long time, yet it is still very popular now. TEDDYVILLE MUSEUM PENANG, located in Batu Ferringhi, is Malaysia's first teddy bear museum featuring a rare and historic collection of bears dating back to the 1900s. Housed at the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton, this unique attraction showcases an extensive range of teddy bears in various shapes and sizes. The museum offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the history of Penang through these adorable bears.
A very cute museum that uses teddy bears to depict a variety of Penang and Malaysian cultures. It is actually inside the Doubletree by Hilton. Starts with a nice history lesson about teddy bears too. Adults may find it a bit boring except for some instagram photos but a completely worth while place to visit with kids

Visited the musuem over the weekend with my 7 yo boy. The teddyville showcase the evolution of teddy bear from the early years. And it has many life size teddy and also with a combination of diorama which highlight so much of the tiny details. Job well down! We had a great time there as it was not crowded and had the time to slowly enjoy the details of the display which showcase the Penang culture and heritage. The manager was friendly and took the time to explained to us how the museum came to live. It’s a must visit for teddy bears lover :) and not to mentioned for double tree Hilton guest we are entitled a 50% off the ticket price which is a steal for us!

Love this museum and it tells a story of Malaysians and shows our celebrations in Malaysia. The owner was friendly and even gave us a short tour of the museum by explaining where he got the bears and where the bears originally came from. What a kind man. The museum is big and we end up spending 1+ hours there exploring, reading about the histories and taking photos there. We bought postcards as our souvenirs and the owner even gave us stamping and stamps for free! Love it so much! This museum is located inside a hotel. So, you can just park up and go into the hotel. No parking fee is needed when you park inside the hotel. Just tell the security guard there where you’re going and they’ll direct you to a parking spot. Overall, I had a great experience here! They accept cash and QR as payment method!

a museum specially dedicated to teddy bears, yes! a museum filled with teddy bears. located about an hour drive from Georgetown, step inside & you’ll be fascinated by the evolution, the history, the facts & fascinating stories on each display. I was fortunate, thankful to the museum staff, Mr Ben (if i’m not mistaken) gives me a lot of information about the museum, every details on the display is well explained which makes an interesting read. there are also sections dedicated solely on the island itself, Penang, from the early days to modern history & transformation, everything is well documented & of course, with the bears as their main character. there is a gift shop located at the end of this tour & the souvenirs were also adorable, cute & nicely decorated. an interesting experience not to be missed, suitable for everyone & really worth a visit.

This is one of the oldest family run art gallery in Penang showcasing the original artworks by Chuah Thean Teng and sons. Chuah Thean Teng was the pioneer of batik painting in fine art form and his sons have continued his legacy by taking this artform and developing it in their own styles. Their paintings are collected internationally by private collectors and museums. This gallery is worth visiting if you are an art lover and would like to learn more about the history of Malaysian art and batik painting in particular. The rest of the store sells trinkets but it is the art gallery at the back which is the highlight. Take the opportunity to talk to the artist Chuah Thean Teng (son) to learn more about the works.

Went here on October 5 for dinner and ordered the margarita pizza which was pretty and tasted good (recommended if you like tomato since the taste of tomato was strong) I had char kwey tiao but it was a little dissapointing since i had expected wok hay and more flavor but the one i had was a little bland in comparison. My parents ordered satay and omelette oyster, my mom didn't like the satay, my dad said it was okay but he prefers the ones in Indonesia. My mom and dad liked the omelette oyster, said the oysters were fresh and that the egg/batter were crispy on some parts that made it good (though i don't like oysters) oh yeah, and my mom said the shrimps in my char kwey tiao was fresh but i don't really like what makes seafood fresh.

Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm is a contemporary indoor and outdoor destination that offers an immersive experience with live butterflies and other insects. With almost forty years of history, it remains an engaging and educational attraction, particularly for those fascinated by these exquisite creatures. The facility features interactive workshops and activities, focusing not only on butterflies but also showcasing other insects such as silkworms and spiders.
You simply must see this place. A waterfall greets you right at the entrance. In the centre is a great tall tree with the curtain-like vines hanging down creating an ethereal and almost magical vibe to the landscape✨️ And with the colourful butterflies fluttering free, it was a picture perfect scene. We sat outside the little café and drank in the sound of the waterfall. If you're lucky, those little beauties 🦋 will just land right on you. It's the most marvelous photo opportunity and moment to cherish. They have other little guests too - frogs, lizards, spiders. There's a exhibition place to learn about butterflies. A real treat for the family and a wonderful way to spend 1/2 a day together 💖

We went here in the morning and pre booked our tickets through look as they are cheaper tickets were 60 ringgits for adults and 44 for children and free for under 3s. As you walk through the entrance you greeted by hundreds of butterflies flying around all the plants. You navigate your way around the various paths exploring all the things that have to offer. From spiders, lizards, fish, beetles, all things creepy crawly. Both our children loved it. We then stopped at the cafe and the food was pretty good and not overly expensive.

Beautiful outdoor garden with informative exhibits We came here quite late around 5pm (last admission). I bought the daypasses from klook as they were far cheaper than buying at the counter. The entrace staff politely asked us if we want to change our visit on the nextday as we may be rushing through the exhibits. Since we already there we choose to continue the visit. If you like taking photos or learn through all the exhibits you may need to spent more time in there. Since i brought my daughter she only want to focus on the butterflies, fishes and the animals.

If you're looking for a family-friendly, educational escape in Penang that's equal parts enchanting and Instagram-worthy, Entopia (the Penang Butterfly Farm) is an absolute gem. Tucked away in Teluk Bahang, this massive indoor-outdoor living museum feels like stepping into a lush, tropical fairy tale—complete with thousands of free-flying butterflies, exotic insects, and even cheeky lizards scampering about. I spent a full afternoon here, and it was pure bliss for both the inner child and the amateur photographer in me. The highlight? The sheer abundance of butterflies—vibrant blues, fiery oranges, and delicate whites fluttering everywhere in the massive rainforest enclosure. They're so tame you can gently touch them (with permission, of course—staff guide you on how), creating those once-in-a-lifetime close-up shots. Pro tip for photogs: Early morning visits mean fewer crowds and softer light filtering through the canopy, perfect for macro lenses or even your phone camera. I walked away with a memory card full of ethereal pics! Beyond butterflies, the exhibits are a treasure trove of creepy-crawlies: Stick insects that camouflage like pros, massive beetles, colorful katydids, and a whole section on ants' underground empires. Don't miss the lizard lounge—chameleons and geckos blending into the foliage, adding a fun, prehistoric vibe. It's all so interactive and well-curated, with info plaques explaining life cycles, habitats, and conservation—making it a fantastic educational spot for kids. My little ones (ages 5 and 8) were mesmerized, asking questions non-stop and even "adopting" a virtual butterfly through the on-site program. The layout flows beautifully: Start in the cool, misty indoor zones (great for escaping Penang's humidity), then wander the outdoor gardens with ponds and bridges. Entry is reasonable (around RM59 for adults, cheaper for kids), and you can easily spend 2-3 hours without rushing. Just wear comfy shoes and bug spray—nature calls! Overall, Entopia isn't just a visit; it's an immersion that sparks curiosity and awe. Highly recommend for photographers, families, or anyone who believes in the magic of metamorphosis. 5 stars—book your tickets online to skip lines!

Andrew's Kampung, located in Penang, is a popular family-friendly restaurant offering a wide range of delicious dishes that cater to everyone's tastes. Despite some mixed reviews about the food and ambience, it remains a go-to spot for many tourists. The restaurant is known for its fair prices and often receives rave reviews for its consistently delicious offerings. It's advisable to make reservations in advance, especially during peak dining hours.
The Outlook of the food is equally as good as the taste. It has the good taste and the presentation in food. The portion is quite generous considering the location and price. Run by a humble elderly husband and wife, it provides a good dining experience. Not to forget, the very good service that they are providing. The only downside that i can pick off is their location which can be quite inconvenient and maybe hard to find. Will definitely come again without a doubt. P/s: if possible, call and book for a table before coming if you are coming in a big group as space can be quite limited. Btw they are pork free restaurant.

I always bring my family along, and they love it just as much as I do. Honestly, this place makes me want to move to Penang just to eat here more often. Highly recommended for anyone seeking not just a meal, but a truly memorable dining experience.

Had a pleasant dining experience at Andrews Kampong. Service was good and the food was served promptly. We tried the Marmite Chicken, Kampong Rice, and Clear Vegetable Soup. The Kampong Rice was flavorful, and the Marmite Chicken paired well with it. Overall, the food quality was above average, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Do note that the restaurant is located on the second floor, which may be easy to miss if you’re visiting for the first time. A good spot for a casual meal with quick service.

This was originally written in December 2022 when we first visited, I just visited again tonight and my review remains the same, as outstanding. We were recommended this restaurant by some locals at Batu Feringhhi to try Andrew's, after we found Knife & Fork closed. Wow this is amazing, fresh table cloths, inside or outside dining, cheap fantastic food and cold drinks, we were so impressed we went back a few days later for another meal. Andrew and the staff are very attentive and work like busy bees to keep everyone happy and welcome. It is upstairs via either very steep stairs or the very quick closing elevator that can transport you to the floor 2, bookings are a must and can be done via WhatsApp or in person😁

Tasty authentic food, good prices and a nice open balcony to eat. Staff are friendly and food service was quick. We really liked the pepper beef, garlic veggies and char kway teow. This place is a bit tucked away upstairs but worth going to.

Suffolk House Restaurant is a historical gem in Penang, offering a glimpse of traditional British colonial architecture. Once the former home of Sir Francis Light, it has been lovingly restored and reopened to the public in 2007. The house provides guided tours that delve into its rich history. Nestled in the scenic area of Air Itam, Suffolk House boasts a unique garden with century-old trees, providing a perfect setting for stress relief and afternoon tea indulgence.
Been back to this place multiple time for celebration as well as just for a night out dinner. Our latest visit for valentine day dinner was one of the best. We were serve by Garib, he was attentive & polite making the evening all the more pleasant. The steak here is one of the best found in Penang, I can't recommend it enough.

The food served is unique and presentation is nicely done. Service throughout the dinner service by Rafiq is 5 star. He made us felt welcome and comfortable for the entire dining experience. Would highly recommend to come if you are looking to treat yourself to something nice.

RM70 for fish & chips and mushroom soup? Honestly not worth it at all. The fish & chips were the worst I’ve had, its mushy, not fresh, tiny portion and the sides were underwhelming. The brulee was bland too, I could easily make a better version at home. The crew’s service was rather unpleasant. Just a few minutes after I finished my meal, they came over asking to clear the plate/table, which felt like they were rushing me out of the restaurant. On top of that, the restaurant is hot, I mean hot temperature. Parking has no cover and security. Reservation? I don't really think so, it is empty inside. For the high prices, the food quality is closer to roadside/hawker level. In fact, hawkers do it much better at a fraction of the price. Definitely not a place I’d recommend.

If you’re looking for a memorable afternoon tea experience in Penang, Suffolk House is a must-visit. The moment you step into this beautifully restored colonial mansion, you’re greeted by friendly staff who make you feel genuinely welcome. The tea selection is impressive perfect for both tea connoisseurs and casual sippers. The afternoon tea set is a delightful feast for the senses. Each tier is filled with an array of sweet and savory treats, all artfully prepared and bursting with flavor. The scones are especially noteworthy—warm, soft, and served with cream and pineapple & strawberry fruit jam. A word of advice: make sure you don’t eat too much before your visit! Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just indulging in a relaxing afternoon, Suffolk House promises a charming and satisfying experience.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and pleasant, and the food was delicious with generous portions. Had a wonderful dining experience at Suffolk House Restaurant. The elegant colonial setting and calm atmosphere made it the perfect place for a relaxing evening. The Western dishes were beautifully presented and full of rich, balanced flavours, truly fine dining at its best. The pumpkin soup is scrumptious! A special thanks to Rafiq, our attentive server, for going above and beyond. He kindly offered us extra starters, bread, and even coffee at the end of our meal. His warm hospitality made the evening even more memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for excellent food and exceptional service.

Rubin Mardini Cafe & Restaurant is a Lebanese and Mediterranean eatery located in Batu Ferringhi, Penang Island. It offers excellent food at great value, making it a popular choice among locals and tourists. The cafe has received positive reviews for its cuisine, although some have found the prices to be on the higher side for a local establishment without air conditioning.
We ordered madghoud lamb, kunafa & fries. All the food was scrumptious. The lamb is very tender! Everything was delicious. The waiter also offered mint tea to us, it was a great combination to enjoy with kunafa! The kunafa is freshly made, crispy on the edge and you can pour the syrup if you prefer more sweeter. The portion of madghoud lamb rice is good enough for 2 person. Overall, the price is reasonable
Atifah R — Google review
Humble cafe with one of the best freshly made from-the-heart Kunafa in town. The cream cheese complements the dish very well. I've asked to separate the syrup as we do not prefer our Kunafa soaked and too sweet. But, the syrup is just nice as not overly sweet. The Lamb Madghout is very tender. Didn't get to try the Chicken rice variations as chickens were all sold-out, so can't really comment on the true taste & marination. Chicken Kebab tastes quite nice as well. Mustafa is an excellent server, also fluently communicating in English & Malay, which helps the interaction with customers and in accommodating customers' needs, making it an enjoyable experience overall.

The food here is absolutely delicious! We ordered the Lamb Kabsa. It was amazing, perfectly seasoned, and the portion was more than enough for two people. Every dish was full of flavor and freshly prepared. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant has such a cozy, welcoming vibe. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat. Highly recommended!

As a Turk, I LOVED the lentil soup! Tasted like the ones at home 🥹 The Greek salad was also good! Eating good cheese after 3 months was very fulfilling 😅😭 The meat was ok… had also traditional Turkish tea~ Also good! The staff is very kind and was very patient with me as I spilled my water 😅

We chose this place after seeing it go viral on TikTok. So, we decided to try the Kunafa and Hummus with Lamb. To our surprise, it was incredibly delicious..seriously, so good! We were truly satisfied. The portion was just nice for two people, and the dining environment was cozy and comfortable. Definitely planning to come back again!

Don't be put off by the look of the store. It’s a small place that don’t look like much. But let me tell you, it’s not only the best in this area, it was the best thing we ate in our malaysia trip! We found the restaurant through Google Maps and chose it based on the reviews and it was a hit! The chicken khabsa was the best I ever ate, the portions are huge, you basically get half of a Chicken and a Mountain full of Rice (I would recommend young children to share a portion of it) and it‘s cheap! 5/5 For the food!
Burri C — Google review
I cannot emphasize enough on how good the food was. Main dish and dessert were both remarkable. We stumbled upon this restaurant while we were trying to find an indian restaurant which we couldn't find. There are both good veg and non veg options. If you're vegetarian or Indian, don't think before you go here. Worth it totally. We were struggling to get adjusted to Malaysian cuisine on our trip when we found this godsend restaurant. I would give more stars if I could!

P. Ramlee House, situated in Penang, is a museum dedicated to celebrating the remarkable career of Malaysia's iconic artist, P. Ramlee. The well-preserved heritage house offers visitors an immersive experience into the life and legacy of this legendary figure in the Malayan film and music industry. It provides a glimpse into his journey as a comedian, actor, singer, composer, and film director through original furniture and memorabilia on display. The museum also features a gallery showcasing P.
Great place to learn more about P Ramlee. Very educational and insightful. The guard there was happy to share his knowledge of P Ramlee, showing how proud he is with the artist. Good way to expose young generation of early entertainment in Malaysia, with black and white movie, clothes and also musical instruments. The house also educates young generation on how the olden time houses looked like.

This is a gem of a place. P Ramlee’s childhood home, preserved with an adjoining small exhibit, sharing the works, nostalgic pics and wisdom of the legend and icon. The place was very quiet with only another small group of visitors. We were pleasantly surprised with the insights and knowledge shared by the staff Mr Mohd Hafeez, of the life and works of P Ramlee. Entry fee = RM0. Well worth the visit.

Highly recommended for fans of P. Ramlee, Malaysian cinema buffs, or anyone curious about local cultural history. It offers an intimate atmosphere and a curated journey through the life of a national icon. If time is limited, it’s a meaningful stop you can easily fit into a half-day itinerary in Penang. The building is the restored wooden kampung house where P. Ramlee was born in 1926, now lovingly maintained by the National Archives . Though he didn't live there permanently, the house retains an authentic historical feel—nipah thatched roof, polished timber floors and original rooms like the living room, kitchen, bedroom, and even his bicycle and sampan . Free entry, open Tues–Sun (~9 am–5 pm; Fri brief closure 12–3 pm; closed Mondays unless public holiday) . Most visitors spend 30–60 minutes exploring . Small in size—can be fully explored in ~30 minutes if you're just browsing. Minimal interactive elements; suggestions include guided tours or workshops to boost engagement .

Went there yesterday. Not much signboard for direction. If u drive u need to pass through small off road lane which is just beside car wash shop. Once arrive, need to pay $5 for parking fees. Its about 5 minutes walk to the waterfall. The waterfall is not that fantastic but the water is bit cool. A video on our way out of the waterfall.

If only this God's gift of nature was properly kept with a safe walking trail, people's lives will be healthier. Now only the monkeys and langurs have all the fun, the occasional wild dog, lots of mossies will challenge you as you walk on loose rocks and construction debris.. On a pre-Christmas hike up to the reservoir, we found streams of water leaking from the PBA valve running down the slope, creating a muddy trail and wasting precious resource.

BoraBora @ Ferringhi is a laid-back spot perfect for enjoying sundowners with its plastic tables on the sand and stunning views of the sunset turning the sky into a beautiful coral hue. It's a popular place for tourists and locals to unwind, offering chilled-out tunes, cold beers, and delicious food like Angus beef and sizzling chicken. As the night progresses, the music gets livelier, creating a vibrant atmosphere by the beach.
The food was super duper good. We spent RM226 but its worth the price. The atmosphere is breathtaking. Right beside the beach, we also got the chance to see the fireworks. Blue lagoon drink was good but the best is? Definitely MARGARITA❤️..the staff were friendly too, the customer service is good too

Having dinner on the beach while watching the sunset at Bora-Bora Ferringhi is truly a memorable experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for unwinding after a long day. One of the highlights is the fire performance that takes place from 8:00 pm to 8:40 pm, adding an exciting and unique touch to the evening. We reserved a table and arrived at 6:15 pm to enjoy the sunset fully. A helpful tip: avoid sitting too close to the fire performance area, as the sparks can sometimes spread towards nearby tables. Sitting about three or four tables away from the performance spot feels safe and still offers a great view. As for the food, it’s decent—nothing extraordinary—but the real draw here is the laid-back beach vibe, a cold beer in hand, and the stunning sunset view. If you’re looking for great food, this might not be the top choice, but for a relaxing evening by the sea, it’s hard to beat. Overall, Bora-Bora Ferringhi offers a good experience, especially if you want to combine casual dining with beachside relaxation and a captivating fire show.
Alvin S — Google review
Such a fantastic spot by the beach! The atmosphere was lively yet chill, with great music and friendly staff. The highlight of the night was definitely the fire show it was so impressive and really added a unique vibe to the evening. Drinks were reasonably priced, cocktails were tasty, and the seating by the sand made it extra relaxing. Perfect place to spend the night in Penang if you’re looking for good vibes, good drinks, and an unforgettable fire performance. Highly recommended!
LEO L — Google review
This restaurant is very popular with plenty of seating. The service here is quick and friendly. The Sea Bass dinner was excellent, and the cocktails are generous. They feature in and outdoor seating, with a nightly Fire Show. I spent 26 USD for my dinner and 3 cocktails. They have their own parking lot. I will repeat.
Mark B — Google review
The Bora Bora Sunset is one of those places that tourists naturally gravitate toward—mainly for its uninterrupted views of the sun dipping into the sea, but also for its lively atmosphere. We were pleasantly surprised by how friendly and attentive the service was, which added to the overall experience. We ordered the fish and chips, the seafood platter, and the tomyam soup. The fish and chips were crisp and delicious, and the tomyam had a lovely balance of flavour—tasty without being overwhelmingly spicy. The seafood platter, however, fell short; it was on the small side for the price and lacked the depth of flavour we expected. The restaurant sits directly on the beach, complete with simple plastic chairs, but what it lacks in elegance it makes up for in energy. It’s especially popular for its nightly fire show, which was genuinely impressive and lasted for more than 30 minutes. If you want a front-row seat to the show, a reservation is absolutely essential.
Lina E — Google review

Located in the popular beach resort of Batu Ferringhi on Penang Island, the Batu Ferringhi Iron Waterfall is a charming natural attraction. Accessible to guests staying at specific hotels, this waterfall may not be as impressive during the dry season but still offers clear and cool water. It's a short drive followed by a 7-10 minute walk from an Indian restaurant, Kafe Vsassy.
This is a hidden gem in Batu Ferringhi. Just a fairly short walk from the resorts. It’s not signposted but we reached it easily with Google Maps. Some light jungle walking and rock clambering is rewarded with a serene set of cascades.
David S — Google review
Very peaceful natural waterfall an easy 15min walk from the main road. This is not a maintained tourist attraction and therefore doesn't have any facilities. It is a natural beauty spot at the end of a dirt road and it is well worth a visit.
Richard G — Google review
Nice quiet spot. No signs to this waterfall. It’s a 10-15 walk from the main road. One part of the footpath was very muddy after several days of monsoon downpour. Free - no entry tickets required.
Irene M — Google review
Tried to hike to the waterfall but only made it halfway — felt like a buffet for mosquitoes while being serenaded by a chorus of barking dogs. Not exactly relaxing. The only company I had were monkeys in the trees, who probably laughed at me turning back. Maybe the waterfall is nice if you make it, but for me it was more “National Geographic: Survival Edition.”
Miles M — Google review
Cool waterfall a short walk back from Batu Ferringhi beach. You take a unlabeled dirt road back about 10-15 mins and arrive at a bridge over a creek. Take the trail to the left and you arrive at the falls. You can climb around a little and explore or just chill in the large open area in smooth stone. Definitely worth the 15 min walk. Other Reviews: There are a couple dogs in a yard that are chained up, they might back, but are not that scary. Note that no one ever commented they attacked or bit. Don't worry about them. It is definitely not crowded so don't expect a bunch of people...you may be alone. The trail at the beginning is not very scenic, covered in trash on both sides, but it gets nicer.
Kevin M — Google review
Short 15 mins hike to waterfall. The coffee shoo charges RM5 to park there. Beware. Tell them you will come back to have tea after the walk, they will waive parking fee.

This is a very nice place to chill with friends and family. You can even do picnic or read a book here, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Gentle breeze and the cooling water from the waterfall make the place amazingly beautiful. Except this place is lacking in maintenance, what a waste. Hopefully improvements can be done soon.

My friend and I spent a gentle 90 mins on a guided tour with Elaine. She's knew all about the plants and how they were used in traditional medicine and cooking. The paths are narrow so I was glad our group was small, 6 people. No problem walking round in sandals. Lunch beforehand at the cafe over the road overlooking the beach. Peaceful moments letting fish nibble our feet in the stream. Paid 23 RM between us for each Grab journey. Bus much cheaper but at weekend runs hourly.

Engaging in water sports can add an exhilarating dimension to your vacation. Instead of just lounging on the beach, you can experience the thrill of jet-skiing at high speeds across the bay. In Batu Ferringhi, you can enjoy these activities without worrying about being scammed by vendors, unlike in some other Asian destinations. The beach may be a bit rough for those seeking relaxation, but it offers a beautiful environment for adventurous water sports enthusiasts.
Fun activities for strong hearted people as beach nice but bit rough

Was promised a 2km paragliding experience for 2 people at Batu Ferringhi beach for 300 MYR. The operator assured us we'd fly 2km along the coastline. In reality, we got a tiny loop that barely left the launch area - my GPS tracking shows we only covered about 400 meters maximum (see attached map screenshot with scale). That's only 20% of what was promised. The flight lasted maybe 2-3 minutes instead of what should have been a proper coastal flight. When you're up in the air you don't realize how short it is until you check the GPS data later. The price seemed reasonable for 2km of tandem paragliding, but for what we actually received, it was a complete ripoff. They took advantage of tourists not being able to judge distance while in the air. Would not recommend. There are surely more honest operators in Penang who actually deliver what they promise. Make sure to clarify flight duration AND distance before paying, and consider using GPS tracking to verify you get what you pay for.

The Night Market in Batu Ferringhi is a bustling and lively evening hotspot that spans the entire stretch of the area's hotels and restaurants. It offers a diverse array of hand-crafted souvenirs, clothing, and typical market knick-knacks commonly found across Asia. Visitors can enjoy the thrill of bargaining for great deals as the market is known for its affordable prices.
This bus station from the Nightmarket is difficult to find because it is not very obvious that this is a station. We had to ask a Chinese girl who was sitting at the bus station. There were also other tourists who were not sure if it was the correct location. It looks like a part of the nightmarket. At least there were some seats and the atmosphere is quite nice 🫶 3/5 stars

(Translated by Google) This bus stop is where you board buses running from Batu Feringghi Night Market to Georgetown and downtown Penang. The bus operating times displayed on Google Maps and the actual bus operating times do not match. On days with heavy rain, checking the timetable may be meaningless. However, there is a night market open nearby, so if you are hungry, it would be nice to have a delicious dinner at the night market. It would also be fun to bargain with the merchants to purchase Penang tourist products. Visitors who are in a hurry should use Grab taxi instead of waiting for the bus.

Located in Balik Pulau, the Tropical Fruit Farm offers guided tours of its 25-acre orchards featuring a diverse range of tropical and subtropical fruit trees. Visitors can sample various fruits during the tour and even enjoy a night river cruise. Families with kids are encouraged to visit this farm for an educational and fun experience. The farm also offers fruit plates and juices as part of the tour, allowing visitors to taste freshly picked fruits.
Bad experience to call grab to the farm, they all canceled the order suddenly. Finally I paid higher prices to the grab and asked for return trip too. He promised. However, when I got into the grab, he is asking for MR50/hour, if not, he stops my trip immediately. I just said i will pay the return free anyway and will think about the hour free. Luckily There is an oder for him to returncity, I don’tpay him. The farm tourist guy is very well experience and it is a small group 3 person only, so we have very details fruits tasting and explanations in the walk. A lots of farm news from the tourist guy. After the tour, I have 8 enzymes tasting, fruits and fruits juices too. It is a really good experience here. The farmer front desk is helping me to call the taxi from farm to Ferringhi walk bay in MR50 which is very helpful. Lovely place. P.S. Suggestions : if the farmers arrange shuttle bus (by 1/2 hour) to pick up from Ferringhi walk which to be more advantage and easier to the tourist.

We had a lovely tour around the tropical fruit farm this lunch time. My partner and I had Danny as our guide and he was wonderful and full of knowledge of the plants and trees around the farm. He offered us lots of interesting insights and information as well as a few laughs along the way. We loved the enzyme and honey tasting and opted for the package which included a fruit juice and some fresh cut fruit. It was all perfect with a super view on offer. I would recommend hiring a Grab for 4 hours on the app to save trying to book one at the farm when leaving. This worked well for us and meant we could fully enjoy the Tropical Fruit Farm without the anxiety of Grab/signal issues. We look forward to our next visit which we will hopefully time to coincide with durian season ☺️

A very interesting and educational fruit tour with an experienced guide who explained everything in detail and let us try many unique tropical fruits, especially miracle fruit. The tour took about 1.5 hours ,it was really worth it. Many of the fruits were ones I had never heard of or seen before which felt really fresh and exciting. The tour also included free tastings of enzymes and honey. The beetroot enzyme and kopi honey were the most unique and the best tasting. Coconut oil products are great, but the aloe vera soap was a bit drying for my skin. Highly recommended — just remember to bring an umbrella if visiting in the afternoon!

A hidden gem with spectacular views and a huge verity of fruits including all kinds of bananas apart from cavandish so great. Nice food and great fruit juices. There bi's more to the site than just the cafeteria though so feel free to explore. The route there is also very scenic whether comming in or going toward Batu Ferengi. A must experience really.

We planned to come here to try Malaysian durian, but it wasn’t durian season. They still had some durian from another city though (but in another farm), so that was nice. We got a couple of drinks and just enjoyed the peaceful nature around the farm. Then we found out there’s a 1-hour farm tour, so we joined — and it turned out to be a really fun experience! My boyfriend really liked it too. After the tour, they gave us two drinks and two plates of fruit, all included in the price. It’s a bit far from Georgetown, but totally worth the trip. 🌿🍍🥭

They have so many fruit trees you can’t believe your eyes! Our tour guide Danny was very experienced and gave a lot of health tips on when to use which fruit (eg. To cool down your body). After the tour, we had enzyme tasting and fruit juice / platter! Definitely recommend! Only challenge is to get a Grab car over there, so perhaps better to arrange something upfront.

The Penang Tropical Fruit Farm was one of the highlights of my trip! 🌴🍍🍊 🍉 Variety of Fruits The farm is home to an incredible range of tropical fruits — from well-known favorites like mangoes, papayas, and pineapples to rare and exotic varieties you don’t often see elsewhere. It’s a real treat for anyone curious about tropical agriculture. 🚜 Guided Tour & Learning The guided tour was both fun and educational. The staff explained the history of the farm, cultivation methods, and even shared interesting facts about each fruit. It was a perfect mix of learning and exploring. 🥭 Tasting Experience The fruit-tasting session was the best part — fresh, sweet, and bursting with flavor. You really can’t get fruits any fresher than this. 🌿 Scenic & Relaxing The farm sits on a hillside with beautiful views of the surrounding greenery and the Andaman Sea. It’s peaceful, refreshing, and a great escape from the city. 🌟 Overall If you’re visiting Penang, the Tropical Fruit Farm is a must! It’s a unique, refreshing, and tasty experience for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. Highly recommended for anyone who loves nature, food, and learning something new.

Ferringhi Bay is a vibrant destination with an array of dining options, including Hard Rock Cafe, Ferringhi Garden Restaurant, and Pinang Restaurant and Bar. Visitors can also enjoy beachfront dining at Sigi's Bar and Grill on the Beach or experience local flavors at Andrew Kampung Restaurant. The area offers diverse culinary experiences from Malaysian Exotic Burger to Thai cuisine at Golden Thai Restaurant. Additionally, there are opportunities for leisurely shopping in the vicinity.
Ferringhi Bay is one of those places that truly captures the beauty and charm of Penang’s coastline. Located right along the beach, it offers breathtaking views of the sea that make you want to slow down and enjoy every moment. Whether you visit during the day for a sunny, tropical atmosphere or in the evening when the sky glows with sunset colors, the scenery is unforgettable. The beach itself is clean and inviting, making it perfect for a stroll before or after your meal. The restaurant here is another highlight. The menu offers a wide range of local seafood and international favorites, all prepared with fresh ingredients. The portions are generous and the flavors are satisfying. I particularly enjoyed the seafood dishes—they tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned, giving you that real coastal dining experience. The drinks menu also has a good variety, from refreshing cocktails to fresh juices, making it a great spot to relax with friends or family. What really stood out to me, beyond the food and view, was the atmosphere. The staff were friendly and welcoming, creating a casual yet comfortable vibe. You never feel rushed; instead, you feel encouraged to sit back, enjoy the sea breeze, and take in the surroundings. Ferringhi Bay is not just a restaurant, but a place where you can make lasting memories, whether you’re visiting Penang for the first time or returning to your favorite spots. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to combine great food, friendly service, and stunning beachside views.

I was really impressed with this beach. The sand is clean, and it's a great spot for a sunset stroll or bringing the kids to play. There are many cafes along the shore. The fire show was a spectacular surprise! The only downside is the expensive parking, which costs RM2.50 for every 45 minutes.

Our second time there. UNESCO World Heritage site. First time was too busy on weekend. During the week was much better. They have section/place about half way up where they squeeze foot traffic to 2 lanes only. People Traffic jam supposed to get more business but just upsets people. It’s a nice experience though and you should go down. At the end of the Jetty you can take boat tours. Funny lady at the front had us test a free sample of Durian fruit, which actually cost 4RM. Which was very cheap by wasn’t free. She has great stories and if you can stand the smell it was fun. I can’t honestly say I would n’t try again. Smells as bad as it gets and tastes like onions. Ugh.

Ferringhi Bay is a chill beach with amazing sunsets. You can grab a bite restaurant containers during the day, and when the sun sets, the beach fills with music, drinks, and a relaxed vibe. It’s a great place to hang out, enjoy the sea breeze, and watch the sky turn orange. For women is a nice place to take photo.

A clean and beautiful beach in Penang. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing perfect for family outings or evening walks. There are many restaurants along the beach, but do be careful when choosing and make sure the food served is halal. Overall, a lovely place to unwind and enjoy the sea breeze. 🌊

Shipping container life. Club sandwich came in a basket with a handle and a plastic rose attached, neither necessary nor practical. Food was nice if a little difficult to eat, had to hunt for myself to find a napkin. £5.25 for a chicken club sandwich. Comparison... 5 people nasi kandar dinner buffet in Georgetown £23.12.
