Laksa soups is to my liking, kinda umami. The laksa noodles not the usual rice noodles, it’s like made of starch, after cooked, it turned transparent. Curry mee not bad, but toppings are kinda normal, only fish ball , fish cake bean sprouts and some beancurd. Need come early as nothing much left when I visit during the afternoon 1pm.

Cheap and delicious! Right after arriving here, do not forget to stop by and have a bowl of mee kari! I get the special one and it is massive, barely can finish it, so big. The soup was thick and flavourful, not too spicy yet very savoury. Noodle was chewy and nice, not soggy. Definitely one of the best mee kari in Ipoh! Wanted to order nasi lemak but too full for that lol The travel to here is quite deep driving into the village, we almost thought we are lost. Look forward to come again here.

CHEAP LOCAL FOOD WITH GREAT TASTE I went camping and too lazy to cook. So I went tapau some food here to bring back to campsite and eat by the river. I only tasted mee kari and kuetiaw kicap. BOTH ARE DELICIOUS! my favourite would be the kuetiaw kicap. It was sooo delicious that I HAD TO DROP BY AGAIN before going back home. (And this time I dine-in) I hope the owner would provide a longer spoon because they serve the food in rather big +deep container... but the spoon is too short to eat comfortably (the fork is long though) Anyway, i'm already missing the kuetiaw kicap 😓

great mee kari with delicious sauce. we ordered mee kari biasa, which is already good enough. not sure what great stuff mee kari special has to offer. one must go visit again to find out. located in a small quaint village in gopeng.

Simple fare with country flare. Mee kari + Jelly makes a good combo. Thick spicy flavour, noodles well cooked amd gravy nice creamy & thick. Shop a bit out of the way and needs some guidance. But well worth the effort. Good embiance as well.

Nasi Kandar Royale Tok Ayah is highly regarded for serving an authentic Malay-style nasi kandar with a wide variety of lauk (dishes), offering both white and yellow rice options. We didnt get the normal white option anyways and straightaway given yellow rice option. We couldnt agree on this as the curry was overcooked. Portions are described as generous and satisfying, making the price reasonable, though some locals find it a bit pricey; the portions and taste make it worthwhile. You can always ask for more rice but we didnt get more. Staffs were not paying attention to customers, having chat while serving. Had a lambshank that supposed to be RM35 but suddenly became Rm45 at the cashier counter. Total Rm54 just a lambshank, nasi kuning, 1/2 telur masin. Overall, Nasi Kandar Royale Tok Ayah stands out in the Gopeng/Ipoh area for its flavorful curries. Need to improve some areas to close the gaps since there are many other better options

What I like: - Staff okay, service was fine. - Location easy to find. What I don’t like: - Taste very average, rice not good enough. - Fish curry was hard and not juicy, they just dipped it into gravy last minute. - Squid egg also just normal, nothing special. Overall: Nothing really stands out. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll come back unless no other restaurants are open and I’m really hungry. Not worth my money.

Not bad but must try again in the afternoon during low season. Stopped there on Sunday around 4PM, too late and most side dishes finished. But still a good spot in Batu Gajah not too far from Simpang Pulao Plus exit.

Went there on a weekday afternoon thus the place wasn’t busy. 4 stars base on the authenticity in taste and flavour of their Nasi Kandar. Speciality on their kuah curry (of course), just like many have mention in their review that it taste different from basic kedai mamak. Restaurant is easy to locate as well. Lost of one star as it is a little pricey for the locals but I feel that the portion is a lot. And also the cleanliness could be a bit challenging as the flies issue seems unavoidable (partly due to the weather) even though effort is taken in wiping their table clean.

Laksa was good. A bit spicy. However, there was this smell that cut my good feeling of the food. I am not sure what it was, maybe the surrounding.

Reservations required, call in advanced. This place is tucked away in a small corner as you drive towards Sementra Resort. It is basically in a wood shed managed by an old aunty with a few younger colleagues. They only accept cash payment, don’t even think of TNG, Grab or Mae, it does not work with them. Food was just meh. Nothing to shout about but thankful for such options in a remote Malay kampung area.

Need to call and prebook the meals as they only prepare just enough to prevent food wastage. Assam Laksa is very nice. One of the best around. Vege is fresh and well prepared.

Make reservations before you go. Seating is limited. It's a great experience for tourists to visit.

Excellent dining experience in rural setting. We lucked out and managed to have Beggars chicken w/o pre ordering. Chicken flavour was rich, intense and deeply satisfying. The Asam laksa was very decent, with prawn paste add on even more so. Vegetable was tender and nicely fried Probably best call ahead as they have limited tables The road leading to this place is very narrow and a bit rough in certain places. Beware of the high and abrupt speed humps

We booked 3 days ahead. But, when we arrived we were served with undercooked sugarcane chicken. Keep telling the owner, but she insisted it's cooked. Obviously the chicken meat is not cook and raw. And it's overpriced for uncooked chicken. Not that we never cook any chicken before. Though the laksa were good. And veggies portion were small even though we order the big one.

Asam laksa is good, the soup goes really well with the fried fuzuk. Other dishes just ok. The road to this place is very narrow. Drive with care.

Environment is nice but for the food just so so only... For the local cuisine can give 5⭐..(wok hei) But for the western cuisine only can give 3⭐.Drink only serve half. Service bad when we complain some of our drink is not serve, their just answer drink section short of manpower and leave their not follow up what is short. A funny thing that is one of the drink that we are waiting that is only A Coke 😅 so easy serving, why not go to check, it's our order its missing.? And just ask to wait until all the food are finish and even second round order for Paku Sotong. Second time complain only get our drink very disappointed.

Nice ambience. Old coffee shop with lots of interesting decorations. Would have been better if the food is nicer. Average taste though the plating is good. The chocolate cake was superb. Thick and smooth dark chocolate fudge covering over moist chocolate cake. We went for extra helping.

An old shop lot that has been transformed to a fancy heritage restaurant. The ambient is good and a good place to have photograph or “打卡” in chinese. Overall the food is overrated and overpriced in terms of the freshness and taste. Understandable for a tourist spot in Gopeng. However, the cuttle fish served with kangkung and the thai style grilled fish was nice, especially the sauce for both. Good service by the staff anyway. Recommended for first time tourist, one-off visit is highly possible.

Unique kopitiam in this small town. You will be surprise to not feel too hot during this dry weather, thanks to the wooden natural ventilation and without air con!!!.

Very bad service, spend 10 mins for the menu to come, then another half an hour for the waiter to order after we keep asking for the waiter throughout the half an hour, very rude staff, mentioning that they only have 2 waiters who will take orders, if cannot wait then leave. Long serving time, waited for 45 mins for the first dish to arrived and the last dish arrived another 30mins later. Portion is very small and unacceptable. Drinks is only served after we finished all our food. Will never be back again. Not recommended for those who are rushing.

Soup is weak. Taste bland. Price is okay. The additional sauce isn’t great too. We asked about grab payment. They say tak tau despite a very big sign promoting grab payment there. The staff don’t know what they’re doing too. Overall bad experience. Never come here if you can. But the nasi kukus is okay good.

Used to support this laksa from food truck until they moved to restaurant 10 years ago. The taste not as good as it was used to be. Even ordinary laksa can easily win. Very thirsty after eat. And the price have spike alot. Not sure if the original owner sell the business to other? And the restaurant is more and more hot everytime visit. I hope the tasty good old taste will come back.😭

A nice cafe not far from the Ipoh main town specialty in Laksa Sarang. Convenient access - ample parking around the cafe since it is in a residential area in Ipoh. It also has a surau for Muslim to perform prayer.

Laksa (northen style) was good but service wise need lots of improvement..i.e. cleanliness,tidiness and speed of food preparation. Only a person preparing food & another guy drinks. No signboard or signage outside🤦🏻‍♂️ Price is RM5.50 per bowl of laksa. Wifey says cheap😜

I just loved their laksa telur bersarang! Will never miss to drop by this cafe everytime i visit ipoh or nearby area.. very recommended. Besides laksa they also have nasi kukus or nasi lemak ayam berempah, not bad too. I am not the type who loves laksa, but this one really hit my tastebud! I just love that i can simply pick any number of lime cut for my laksa, as we can pick the condiments by ourself.. because i am the type who need to squeeze lots of lime to eat laksa to cover the fishy taste of the laksa gravy. In the case you need plain water, they provide plain water dispensed from 'coway' machine (good right).. self-service, just ask for the cups from the counter bar.

One of the favourite local laksa outlet and its always pack with customers. The tasty laksa telur goreng bersarang is a must, together with the different flavours of local 'pau' which uniquely decorated.

This is a Chinese restaurant located in the Gopeng town near to the Gopeng toll exit. (About 4-6 minutes drive away) It has an indoor air conditioned room and an outdoor seating. We ordered a steamed tilapia and it was great. The fish is soft and cooked to perfection. The sauce is fragrant and savory. Because we brought a baby along, we specially requested the chef to separate the sauce from the fish. (As you can see from my photo, the fish has no sauce at all) And even without the sauce, the fish taste awesome. My baby ate so much fish that day. The mango salad fried chicken is very nice too. Fried chicken is juicy and tender. Mango is fresh and sweet. The vegetables soup is very smooth and comforting. The food price is reasonable. We spend less than rm100 for 4 people. Initially being overcharged for water, the boss quickly rectified it and gave us a refund. Very nice and honest owner. Toilet is clean too. Parking is available nearby. But usually people just park right in front of the restaurant.

Air conditioning makes any place a bit better. We ordered 4 dishes, curry mutton was not bad, long beans and tofu dish was decent but the salted fish pork belly was way too salty. Portion was pretty generous overall. Good pitstop when traveling from KL to Penang during jam.

The dishes are really tasty, serve very fast, dining place got Aircond and a lot of green. Add on point toilet is clean. I felt the boss really put his/ her heart to operate this restourant

Great tasty dishes. the fish head curry, butter prawns, long beans lamb (melt in your mouth meat), paku veggie and sweet and sour pork (not much batter where you can taste the meat). The lamb can hold its own at any fancy western restaurants

On a cold rainy afternoon after gua Tempurung and white water rafting, this was an amazing find considering that we hardly ate for lunch. The lady boss is very honest. She suggested that one curry fish is usually enough for two, and it takes just 10 minute for most other dishes. We almost wiped dry the curry fish. We added a salted egg chicken that was fresh and generous. It is a restaurant with service, and the price is a bit higher with better ingredients. We would go back again if we return to Gopeng for outdoor activities.

Greeted by very friendly staff, ushered to very comfortable seating place with great music, served with great food with reasonable price! We ordered fish fillet burger, cheese baked rice, mushroom soup and french fries. Everything was fresh and delicious, they were also generous in the portion! Cute tea set too. Will definitely go again if we visit Gopeng one day 💯

Little surprise experience on the way home for CNY. The first impression was good with the fine decorations and the food was next. Reasonably priced with good taste and presentation.

It should be better if go at night. The air Cond room is closed and we have to sit outside. Hot weather with flies flying around near the garden. The waitress are friendly. And the food not bad. Can be improved.

Environment here is nice and quiet. The decorations here are nice and impressive. Food: 1. Tori Katsu Curry Rice(RM16.90): The portion is small and there's no potato or carrot together with it. 2. Ebi Fry Curry Rice (RM19.90): The bowl used for containing the food is nice, but not convenient to scoop from it. It's only suitable to use it for decoration. 3. Carbonara Spaghetti (RM16.80): It's definitely looked and taste like a Vegan Spaghetti even though it's not. Portion is very very disappointing as the price listed does not match with the portion given. Overall, the food are very disappointing. The price charge for the food is expensive which doesn't match with the given portion. The last time I went here, the food is nice and the price are reasonable with the portion given. They also changed their menu and there are less and less food options now. From having a variety of food from Chinese, Western, Mexican & etc to choose from suddenly only left a few Western options which left me speechless. There's also a language barrier between the customers and staff. Even though we've tried to communicate with the staff politely, they act like they doesn't understand what we say and laugh about it with the other staff which is rude. If the management is looking at this post, I hope you can make some improvement for this place. For now, I would not come back to this place.

Food: The lamb chop was a bit tough but the mushroom carbonara was okay. Decent food but not overly delicious. We came here so we could have a decent meal with the addition of the star of the show, the very tasty sotong/squid with paku/fern covered with a generous topping of sesame seeds that can be ordered from the little stall outside this cafe and delivered inside. The squid did not taste fishy at all and was very fresh and springy. We chose the medium portion for RM17. The stall was still open when we left before 8pm. MUST EAT! Service: Excellent service. Price: Decently priced. Atmosphere: Not crowded. Cost atmosphere. You can choose to sit outdoors like us or sit in the air-cond area. Lots of parking when we came here for dinner.

Beautiful place. The interior & exterior designs were mix of both classic Chinese cultures and modern cafe setup. The lightings were perfect, setting up a great cheerful environment. We had a great dining experience. Wide variety of foods and beverages. Quality wise great but taste wise just average. Love their beverages compared with their food. Price wise just acceptable. Tried the boiled cuttlefish and fern topped with savoury sauce, sesame seeds and peanuts. Not bad actually but overly rated and expensive.

Nice place to chill. Good ambience. Food comes in big portions. . The menu ranges from local to western food. But we tried the local ones only. Fried Kueh teow n meehoon, Asam laksa, curry laksa, Chee Cheong fun, wat ton hor. Good kopi c, white coffee, good red beans mixed dessert. Total bill 120 for 8 people.

To see this cafe in Gopeng was an eye opener for me. It's so rustic and authentic, almost like you traveled back in time a little. Food-wise, I don't have a lot of expectations because a cafe so nicely decorated would usually be compensated by the food taste. This is more so because the superb local market eatery is just 50-100m away. The western chicken chop is 3-stars but again, i didn't expect it to be phenomenal. However, my fried hor-fun with bihun turned out ok. A little too salty but it does have the required wok taste. I also sampled a piece of the local kuih. The price stings. One piece of "loh-mai-chi" is RM1.50. But it was good. I also liked how cute it was that our drinks were served with pieces of Marie biscuit. Service - well, can be better. The lady behind the counter is busy making drinks and being the cashier. She does not give eye contact. The foreign worker who serves is not able to communicate well and have difficulty answering inquiries. Would I return? Yes. Despite some of the short-comings, I like this cool cafe.

Vintage ambiance. Service not attentive as we were keep looking somebody to take our order. Menu was messy. Many food list in the menu but available was less. We ask for rice choice, waitress suggested us nasi lemak and white rice, which puzzled. Coffee just normal, spaghetti was good but curry chicken was cold and tasteless.

Roti canai need to be improve..the dipping curry taste good. Nasi lemak was ok.

Tasty simple food in Cool, Clean environment away from the heat outdoors. 2 Rice with 1 piece of chicken and 1 vegetable side dish each, 1 kasturi lime asam boi drink. Total RM18.80. One Wall decorated with ‘tudung makanan’ and small light green painting. Space well compartmentalised; Drinks Section, hand basin, giving a clean and structured look. Feel comfortable to eat here. Waited too long for the nasi goreng. The portion is very very small for the price. Kedekut betul 👎🏻. I ordered matcha latte but it tasted nothing like it. Too much milk. Overall, not recommended. Dont waste your time

If you are from Himalaya/Rock Garden camping resort and plan to eat here, just dont. We wanted to try the foods they displayed in their menu but ended up with disappointment. The foods taste were so-so, not to mention the lacks of staff during our lunch visit. Not going to repeat here again.

Price and taste on the balance side. Not that expensive and not that yummy. I think Nasi Goreng Ikan Rebus is their signature which I don't see many restaurants sell it. It would like to suggest the owner to handle fly issue. Too many flies, putting candles should help. It is recommended to take a quick stop if you're nearby the area, otherwise it is not worth the drive or the effort.

Parking not that spacious so if full you might need to park beside the main road. I arrived here for lunch. The place not trendy, not proper like any other restaurants. Its a dining area inside the compoun of the owners home. There are mosquitoes so wear some repellent. As for the food, at the counter the staff will guide you on how to order your meals. The food will prepare upon request. We waited about 15-20mins for our meals to arrive. The chicken gulai was coconut creamy. The prawns was large in size and superbly cooked together with the smelly beans in sambal sauce. The meal prepared for 5pax and cost rm73

came here for lunch , the atmosphere is nice all the green complete the vibe . we dont wait too long for the food , around 20-25 minutes like that . the menu we ordered overall with a nice portion , it's delicious and worth the price . but maybe the owner could've make an initiative to reduce the mosquito problem since the environment is forest but overall is nice

A perfect place to have a quiet lunch during hectic and busy weekdays. All food are great, and cooked upon order. You may order ahead so that you didn't have to wait long. The owner is a nice and soft spoken person. The place is usually not crowded during weekdays. Feels like eating at your own home.

The food is good and the price is reasonable but there are a lot of flies and mosquitoes. A little orderly and beautiful arrangement, will definitely grow this business which has been established since 2015. The owner is a kind and friendly person. It feels like a picnic under a durian orchard...even under a mangosteen tree.

Hidden from the main road and very unassuming place. The patin tempoyak is not as expected, a bit tasteless but can still taste the tempoyak. In fact all dishes are quite tasteless, perhaps less salt, sugar were used to keep the dishes healthy. The place has lots of mosquitoes, perhaps it is very near to some stagnant pool of water. If you cant tahan panas, this is not the place for you. No fan whatsoever.

We came here to try out the famed bamboo masalla briyani (we chose curry mutton) after watching YouTube videos and reading the reviews here on Google. We found the spice mix to be overwhelming thus we couldn't experience fully the flavour of the briyani. The mutton wasn't tender enough. The chutney was nice though. The staff (we suspect could be a non-local) could better serve customers if they can speak Bahasa Melayu or English. We couldn't understand a word he was saying when we wanted to order additional food items; luckily one of the bosses (we assumed) came and assisted. Overall, if you are interested in the novelty of trying out briyani served from a steaming bamboo and you happened to be nearby Medan Kidd or the Ipoh railway station, this will be the place for it.

Had lunch in their Sunway City Ipoh Tambun branch which is newly open in July. Place is clean, parking is easy. Ordered Bamboo chicken briyani which taste great. Had also tried their chicken varuval and peria goreng. Peria goreng unfortunately was too oily for me, varuval is okay. Will visit again in future.

The bamboo briyani was special and tasty. Other dishes were just average. Service was good and the staff were friendly.

First time ever trying this Bamboo Chicken Briyani rice here and to my surprise this is the best well flavoured Briyani I have ever tried. First of all the rice were very well flavoured and rich with spices, no need any curry to enrich the rice as it is already perfect in its own. While the chicken is very flavourful, with sweet and spicy in quite a big portion, overall this is one of a must visit place for banana leave rice and Briyani rice lover. They have variety menu and dishes to choose from. Totally a worthy place to checkout.

You must come here for the service! Never seen this level of customer service in kopitiams. Super friendly owner and workers. Food average. Nothing special. The Pandan coffee is actually hazelnut coffee to my taste. Too expensive for this location. Clean shop. I’ll come here again for the owner’s friendliness.

The white coffee iced was the most delicious drink I’ve had in malaysia. The Nasi Lemak, Steamed bread with kaya, glutinous rice with kaya and the mee kicap special was so yummy. The marble cake was nice and soft, 10/10. So cheap too, will definitely be coming back here.

Came here for simple lunch while driving back to Ipoh. Kaya glutinous rice is must order. They served warm glutinous rice. Service was great and uncle is friendly. Definitely will come here again for lunch

Very delicious kaya toast, kaya sticky rice and hot coffee. The soft boiled eggs are perfectly done. They still use the traditional bread which makes it so special. The right amount of kaya and butter on their bread. Toilet is very clean.

The kopitiam is located in a small and quiet town. The place is very clean. The boss is a friendly old uncle. He handles everything, from taking orders to preparing and serving the food. White coffee (RM3.60) is flavorful. A must try. Kaya butter toast (RM5.90) is crunchy and good. But the Kaya filling is a tad too sweet for our liking. Prawn noodle (RM8) - The soup has strong prawn aroma, but very salty. Mee kicap special (RM13.90) is very very salty. Nasi lemak (RM4.50) is okay. Pandan leaves give the aroma of nasi lemak. Sambal is not too spicy.

Nice white coffee (pandan too) and very friendly service esp the old couple with good English or Cantonese or mandarin.. the sell instant packet .. for me it’s on the sweet side)

Their herbal wine fish soup and stir fry kung po snakehead fish slices are both delicious. The intestines average because the texture is rather tough and chewy. Reasonable prices.

If you looking for fast service or a clean air cond place, skip this place. All fish r freshly dispatch then n there. A lot of strays dogs. Cooks n service staffs all laid back. If u order a pot of tea, go n fill up yourself. More self service. If u r into food quality n portions, this truly doesn't disappoint. Snakeheads. 1kilo and above. Many cooking choices. My fish of choice. Though they have red talipia, red tail catfish n etc. Had the cook pick up my fish before me. Had it done 2 ways. Kung Poh. Fillet meat fried with dried chilies and onion. Top part with skin was bouncy while the flesh was soft n sweet. Yummy. Herbal soup with wine. The head n bones. Soup was good. Can taste the herbs and the wine will kick in soon. Felt flush end of the meal. N it was raining. Was a perfect atmosphere. Bittergourd with eggs. A classic home dish. RM75.30. Overall a satisfying meal. Talk to boss wife who's a Thai. Ask thai chicken feet if u like it. As is served. Business is open for lunch. Then reopen at 4.30 to 8.30. Mostly family of 4 or more will be dining. Again, be prepare to wait. Good food takes time.

Waiter is not good service, dunno intro food, didn’t state expectation of waiting time, waited 1 hour with no informed any progress, decide to cancel the order after I asked. The waiter say have to wait half an hour more👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

The foods served here are superb although the shop itself looks a bit old. Fried noodle and rice are nice. The intestine fried with dried shrimp is recommended.

We had our lunch before an event. Was attended quickly and take our order by giving some suggestions for a group of 5 members of us. Make up our mind and ordered 5 dishes snakehead fish fried with onion ginger, remaining fish head to serve in pickle soup. Ordered Tofu topped with deep fried shrimp & pickle. Crispy sweet & sour pork, and Fried water spinach with belacan sambal. when the food is served we were surprised with the generous portion. We intended to cancel a dish out of 5 dishes however it was too late. Hahaha... Anyway, the food is so tasteful and we managed to finish it. The price is so reasonable we decided to make a come back if have opportunity.

Great Chinese food spot — tasty dishes, super affordable, and overall a solid address. Definitely a good bang for your buck, highly recommend.

Plenty of food to order. Seating is according to coloured chair which means which coffee shop you order from. Nam Chen (Green chairs) serve delicious coffee, tasty light toasts and half boiled eggs which are cooked quite perfectly. Wan tan mee : yien yien serves a mean wan tan mee. Tasty and with silky wan tans. The lye fun with tong tau foo and laksa (yellow board with red writing in the middle) seems pretty popular. The laksa is spicy too. Overall, the food is good. The yao char koay is cheap. I prefer hawker food at Penang anytime especially when this place is full of flies. Our drinks come with covers. Not planning to come here soon but when hungry, it has a variety.

I have tried the soup lai fun with yong tao foo, it is surprisingly good. The noodles is crunchy and the soup is simply taste original without MSG and salty. The best is the barley with fu chik and ginko. It is so rish. I also tried the porridge served with steam chicken i the afternoon. The stall is operated by two very very old "grand parents". It is long queue. Well, the porridge is good ut a bit salty for me. While the chicken, i admit it is quite unique where u can taste the chicken meet freshness and sweet juiciness. I think a lot of chickn rice nowadays has lost this sweet juiciness.

Came here on their public holiday in the morning,many stalls not open. I tried the laifun from no .8 stall,the curry finished dy,so we ordered kicap and soup,Yong taufu soso kinda bland ,the noodles also. If you would like a nicer laifun can go to other restaurants with a better environment. Hidden hem here is their chee cheong fun!!, the hongkong type ,kinda smooth and flavourful,super duper cheap only 3.50 ,maybe is small town but if this in kl super cheap. No 18 porridge and chicken was awesome! Must eat this here, the chicken very tender and smooth the porridge is like can see the rice not super soupy but goes very well with the chicken! Overall very reasonable prices food quality can be better so as the hygiene.

Good variety. Only tried the chee cheong fun which was good and much better than the chicken porridge.

I had decent laksa. Also available local kuih. Old school food centre, lay back atmosphere. Like it was 1990
