The Quays Bar & Restaurant in Cobh, Ireland offers a delightful dining experience with its picturesque harbor views and welcoming staff. It is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The restaurant provides a lively atmosphere and an extensive menu featuring delicious dishes. Whether you're looking for a relaxing meal or a vibrant evening out, The Quays Bar & Restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy good food and great company in the charming town of Cobh.
Great location, great view .. nice view of cruise ship .. steak was well done while i asked for medium done chewy.. pasta was nice.. Staff response is not friendly.. not easy to get attention.
Rakesh V — Google review
Service great! Atmosphere great! Food not that much! Ordered a steak, requested it rare, came to the table well done. The steak looked like it was cooked on a George Foreman electric grill or some Lidl grill. For 34.50€ was expecting much more.Chips were very dry on the inside and had a weird taste. Mush peas looked like they were done 2 weeks ago. Asparagus were raw, felt like i was eating a stick from the tree. Will not be coming back.

The Quays Restaurant – Quick bite, decent view, no drama A solid spot to pause for lunch, a drink, or even a cheeky snack. Good location with nice views if you nab the right seat, always a bonus when your meal comes with a bit of scenery (or people) watching. The food? Fine. The service? Also fine. Sometimes that's exactly what you want. Conclusion: No Wow, but it’ll feed you, water you, and give you something to look at. I’d happily stop by again.
Jon B — Google review
Horrible experience. The service is good. Food is extremely bad, it just looks good. No flavour. We ordered their special of the day - yakisoba noodles. It was plain noodle. The beef burger is good, but not filling. The fish and chips, there was no flavour for the fish. The quantity was also less for all the food we ordered. Paying a lot for this food, not worth it at all. Plus, right after having this food, my friend and I ended up having an upset stomach!! Definitely not great rushing to the restroom every now and then. Horrible experience overall. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Ashley G — Google review
Stopped off for a quick drink while waiting for our train in Cobh (its a one minute walk from the station). The staff were friendly and atmosphere nice. We sat outside and had a lovely view of the bay and the huge cruise ship that had anchored there. Definitely recommended.
Damien S — Google review
Very underwhelming meal. The chips were dry, pale, and oddly chunky — more like half-boiled potatoes than proper chips. No crisp, no flavor, just disappointing. The pizza didn’t redeem things either: bland, and lacking any real taste or texture. For the price, I expected something much better.
Abhishek V — Google review
Food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. We will be back again

5/5 – Exceptional Experience at a Seafront Gem We can't thank Noel and his team enough for providing an outstanding three-course lunch for our group of 60. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and refreshing welcome drinks. Noel and his staff went above and beyond to make sure the afternoon ran smoothly, with impeccable service and attention to detail throughout. The food was absolutely delicious—piping hot, flavorful, and served flawlessly, even for such a large group. Every course was a hit with our guests, and it's clear that the kitchen takes pride in the quality and presentation of each dish. Noel was incredibly accommodating, communicating with us well in advance of our arrival to ensure everything was perfect. His professionalism and friendly demeanor made planning a breeze, and it truly showed in the seamless execution of the event. The restaurant itself is in a fantastic location right on the seafront in Cobh, making it an ideal spot whether you're stopping by with family or hosting a business event. We can't recommend it highly enough! Thank you, Noel and team, for an unforgettable afternoon and the exceptional service! We’ll definitely be back.

Irish pub
Nestled in the charming town of Cobh, County Cork, The Roaring Donkey is a delightful pub that captures the essence of Irish hospitality. With its newly added covered and heated patio area, it offers a cozy spot to enjoy good craft beers, stouts, or draft options while soaking in the warm ambiance. This local gem is particularly famous for its lively traditional Irish music sessions that resonate through the space on many evenings—perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in authentic culture.
A lovely, cosy & friendly bar. It looks unassuming from the outside, but inside it's very warm, cosy and full of life. The selection of drinks was great, the bartender that was working was a joy, and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend!
Adam ( — Google review
We visited the Roaring Donkey twice on 2 consecutive days, despite it being a bit of a hike up the hill to get there. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with chatty staff and patrons alike. We came away having learned quite a bit about Hurling. A great selection of drinks and I only wish that my local back home had more than one stout on offer. And the bonus for us .. it was downhill on the way back.
Stuart K — Google review
Amazing spot ! so cozy and welcoming, even to two dumb canadian boys. Angeling was a absolute gem of a human and treated us so well. thank you thank you for the company and service. Cheers from Canada 🍻🫶

Great beer and amazing football night atmosphere! But what made it unforgettable is warm and kind people. I'm definitely coming back when I'm in Cobh next time. P.S. Thank you for the hats Cillian!
Anna G — Google review
I walked through the front door with my phone to my ear giving final directions to my group on how to get there. I stood right inside the front door (it was cold outside) with the door closed behind me and wasn’t in the pub for 5 seconds (literally) before being shouted down by the clown behind the bar yelling for me to get out. Cobh is a beautiful town with great and welcoming pubs, this isn’t one of them. I come to Ireland annually, this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had.
James S — Google review
I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world. I’ve been to literally thousands of pubs throughout that time but there’s something very special about The Roaring Donkey. I’m from Cobh – but have lived in the UK for more than 27 years and it’s one of the few pubs I go to when back in Ireland. People are what makes a pub. Any pub. Without them, it’s just another room. Everything about this place screams authenticity. It’s somewhere you can relax, have a chat, or simply have a quite drink by yourself. In an age where there are so many daft “themed” pubs, “The Donk” stands out as a place where in the immortal words of the theme tune to Cheers: “Everybody knows your name”. Even if you’re a stranger – because someone will find out within 20 seconds of being there. One of the highlights is the live music nights, which bring the place to life with great energy. Whether it's acoustic sets, local bands, or themed evenings, traditional Irish bands, the entertainment adds a vibrant and memorable touch to the experience. But for me personally, what really stands out is the sense of community. It’s the kind of place where locals gather, conversations flow easily, and newcomers are greeted with a smile. Whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for a mighty session, this place is the real deal. If I could give 6 stars – I would gladly do so. Long may the place continue – and long may it set an example to others on how a pub should be.
Stu M — Google review
Lovely welcoming atmosphere!! As a solo female traveller from England, I wanted to check out a traditional pub with live music. I felt so at ease at The Roaring Donkey and was made to feel welcome. Thank you!!
Sandie M — Google review
We didn’t eat here and not sure if they have food, but this was our favorite bar throughout all of Ireland. Always a ton of fun and the locals are friendly. Great patio and reasonable prices. If you are in the Cobh area, it is a can’t miss as a tourist.

We have a lovely team day brunch in Ellen's before our trip to Spike Island. Beautiful brunch options 😋! I also got cakes to take away, they were also delicious! I would highly recommend Ellen's!

Our family of four had a wonderful breakfast at Ellen’s. We tried pancakes, French toast and the Eggs Benedict… all were wonderful. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the other patrons were all locals. Highly recommend!

A must for great food and service!! Best ham & cheese toastie I’ve had in many years .. quality and taste! Great value too. Will definitely come back! Lovely warm atmosphere

We read a review that Ellen's Kitchen was pretty good and was that review ever spot on! One of the BEST breakfasts we enjoyed in Ireland during our vacation. Very friendly staff (including the owner/chef who personally came out to check on us). The Full Whack will fuel you for an entire day!

We spotted this cafe on google and worked out it is quicker to get off the train station before Cobh to get there. The food was amazing and such a selection of cakes 🍰. The staff were so friendly I would highly recommend going here if visiting Cobh , it was a lovely 20 min walk along the waters edge to arrive in Cobh.

Fab spot - a must visit! My breakfast was a nice clean (not greasy) mini Irish. High quality produce. His was granola which looked like a work of art, and tasted delicious by all accounts. Highly recommend.
Geri D — Google review
Late posting our heartfelt thanks to Ellen and her wonderful team who looked after 9 of us for lunch a few weekends ago. As usual the service was 100% with a big fuss being made over the kiddies which is always a nice touch. We ordered from the main menu as well as the specials board. The spice bag was sensational as was the O’Flynn’s special. We all enjoyed our meals and were really looked after. Ellen and her team go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your experience and you can see the effort that is put into the dishes. We enjoyed it so much we went back for French Toast a few days later!

The service was good and the waiters very well dressed. The food was tasty and the soup really delicious.

One of the best meals we had all week. However a bit snooty to get in, felt like they were doing us a favour giving us a table when we didn't have a booking, even though only half full??? Haven't they heard that a good customers is not beneath them
Rhonda B — Google review
Easily the worst dinning experience during our week in Ireland. Most dinners were overcooked (shrimp, chicken, and the burger). The sauce in the lasagna tasted like American ketchup and whatever cheese they used it wasn’t moz. Then they charged for the wrong entree and tried to argue about it. Avoid this place if you can.
Ray P — Google review
Nice spot inside the Commodore Hotel. Had the Fish and Chips along with the Hot Garlic Tiger Prawns and a couple pints of Guinness. Both were very nice. This was my first Guinness in Ireland. After years of drinking Guinness in NY, I can say that the head is more creamy in the motherland but the pints in NY are not that far off. 🫣 The staff was very friendly and accommodating. No cash needed as they take credit cards. There was a bit of a wait for a table after 1:00pm.
David C — Google review
The food was good however the service was lacking. They were not terribly busy and we waited 5-10 minutes to be greeted by what I believe was the manager. She then went and got a server who seemed like she had much better things to be doing.
Stephen S — Google review
Finished our Titanic tour and headed here for dinner - my vegetarian food was awful and I sent it back. It had no flavor and my partner’s food was dripping in oil. Staff was great and understanding but I’d recommend skipping this spot
Megan W — Google review
Best meal we’ve had so far during our stay in Cork. We came upon this bar and restaurant while visiting Cobh for the day. They had seats available outside, which are great when the weather is lovely. The staff were great and the food was delicious! We had the chicken burger and chicken curry for dinner and fun on the beach and a pint of guinness for drinks. We will definitely be back again next time!
Jennifer C — Google review
We visited O’Shea’s Bistro on August 15th at 8:00 pm. We were told there was no table available at that moment, but that if we returned at 8:30 pm, they would be able to seat us. Trusting this, we came back promptly, only to be told that we had no table and that the kitchen was already closed. I understand that unexpected situations can happen in hospitality, but I find the lack of organisation and communication in this case unacceptable. We made the effort to return at the time we were told, yet ended up without dinner. It was a disappointing experience that left us feeling that customers were not treated with proper consideration.

Takeout Restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Sorrento Fish & Chips is a beloved family-owned takeaway spot in Cobh, known for its exceptional fusion of Italian flavors and delicious menu offerings. The place has gained a reputation as one of the top chippers in the area, attracting visitors especially on Friday evenings. While some have raved about the stunning double fish and chips meal, others have noted minor disappointments such as missing peas and tartar sauce.
Nice Sausage Supper yesterday, Chips were really nice.
Shane ( — Google review
Ordered a special pizza and donner meat & chips for collection, the person on the phone told me they have such donner meat which was wrong information (ordered 1 thing, got another) and when I called back he told me "so what you want me to do now" he didn't even apologise for the error they made, and on top of that there was something wrong with the pizza as we had digestive issues. I didn't take a photo of pizza because it looked good, but that was it apart from the taste it had. We ended up throwing half the food into the bin as we couldn't eat it and had to order food from another place as the person on the phone stated that he couldn't help us. So, thank you for the meal👌
ImAlex.25 — Google review
Ordered Online, Plain hot dog and chips with a taco sauce, not a hard order to be made fresh. Order was to be collected at 22:20 arrived up order was waiting and under a hot lamp. Chips were lukewarm hotdogs bun was stale and the taco sauce was gone bad 👌 this stuff should be made to order
George M — Google review
The management is not really up to the mark. Had a vegi pizza whose price was 8.90 on the menu but they charged me 9.30 saying that the prices has gone up. The taste is normal.

Very disappointed, ordered a @Sorrento Takeaway King Burger got a kids burger in my order instead... phoned to check and they said the order was wrong. Checked the bill, charged for a King Burger. I've been a customer since Sorrento's opened. My weekly order is "Over and Out". Done.

The batter on the fish was undercooked and the chips were undercooked, lacked seasoning and didn’t taste fresh, and possibly re-heated, so the meal was disappointing.

Delivery Restaurant
Supermac's & Papa John's is a fast-food eatery located in the heart of Cobh, offering a delectable blend of American-style burgers, chicken, fish, sandwiches and pizzas. This family restaurant on Casement Square brings together two culinary worlds: Supermac's, an adored Irish-owned establishment famous for their mouthwatering burgers, tantalizing snack boxes and crispy chips; and Papa John's renowned for its irresistible takeaway pizzas.
American here... Imagine if McDonald's and In-N-Out had a baby... but Chick-Fil-A could also be the father... and the baby had the branded colors of its In-N-Out burger mom, and the physical characteristics of its McDonald's cheeseburger dad... You can certainly opt for their bigger varieties, as the one pictured is a kids sized cheeseburger 🍔 Very tasty... they have numerous in-house specialty items, including "fries with sauce," and breaded fried chicken sandwiches... And yes, adjacent to Supermacs, on the left, in a small corner, is Ireland's menu take on the American pizza company Papa John's...

Ordered a snack box meal with strawberry shake. "You'll have to buy milkshake separate as it isn't included in meal" so charger for snack box and €3.50 for shake. I asked for no wing in snack box. "You'll have to buy the snack box with a breast as we usually put in a wing and drumstick" so I said I'll have a normal snack box with 2 thighs instead. (Got home with food and there was a wing and thigh in it. I am a former supermacs employee and I have never heard of this before. It isn't an issue in an other supermacs restaurant i have ever worked or been in myself. Didn't sit right with me at all

The Commodore Hotel is a relaxed establishment featuring an elegant restaurant, a nautical-themed bar, and a rooftop garden. This supposedly haunted hotel has historical significance as it operated during the period of the Lusitania and Titanic tragedies, deeply intertwined with Cobh's maritime history. The hotel offers a unique experience for guests interested in exploring the town's rich heritage. Additionally, visitors can enjoy dining at the hotel's restaurant and bar while taking in the great service and atmosphere.
The best part of this experience was the seafood chowder. So far this place and a place in Doolin have been the best! I would trust me if I were you, my family gave me the nickname chowder because that’s all I need ordering!
Amanda A — Google review
We booked this trip as a last minute get away for our anniversary. Overall it was fine, it was one of the cheaper options for sure. If your a younger couple looking for a cork getaway on the cheap side like us this might not be the place for you as we were the youngest people staying at the hotel by about 25 years. The staff were one of the redeeming qualities of our stay, they were very welcoming and friendly. The onsite restaurant however is not good. The food is mediocre at best and for extortionate prices. We got a light lunch of chicken wings (starter) to share, a bowl of soup (starter) for myself and a ham and cheese toasted sandwich for my partner and it ran us well over €50, I would give the restaurant a skip their is a local cafe right next door with far better food for a way more reasonable price. The rooms were okay, very dated but that is the vibe through the whole hotel. The bathrooms were more newly renovated but the shower did flood our bathroom. Please note that there is only 20 spaces to park and it is a first come first serve basis. Luckily we arrived before check-in so we were able to park on site. Parking is €9 a night so not the best option if you’re staying for the week.
Savannah F — Google review
Staff could be better like if someone is in floods of tears from girl with glasses being rude well it should be taken seriously. I don't want to be told don't be upset or told how i should feel by anyone. I didn't witness it so it didn't happen. It did happen. She is not suitable for that role whatsoever. Shame on her. I would like an apology but id say I can forget it. I got soup as if to say now drink that and close ur mouth. No way cos she will do the same to someone else. What difference does it make where I sit with my scone. I didn't feel wanted there by staff or feel welcome. As a result I had major panic attack. Main meal was great and the desert. Bloke who gave me my peppermint tea was superb. He knows how to smile and how to be pleasant. Compliments to the chef on that.
Siobhan K — Google review
Location great. Stayed on 1st floor, great views over bay, but stay was spoilt by noise from room above, not because they were being noisy but because the floor creaks under every step, made it hard to get to sleep. Average breakfast. Street parking only available when we arrived, free between 6pm and 10am.
Lee W — Google review
Nice and friendly staff, stayed on 1st floor and couldn't sleep properly because of the floors in the room above me creaking and squealing whenever someone moved. Booked breakfast for 8 as I was in a hurry, sat at the table around 5 minutes past, but food only arrived at 8:32 (an omelette I wanted with ham and mushroom and arrived with ham, cheese and mushroom) and some toast - half an hour cooking. Didn't seem to be busy either. Loudest doors you'll ever find in a hotel, difficult to close and lock unless you slam them, windows won't close properly allowing draft and sound in. Overall not the worst one, but I would definitely avoid it next time.
Mario B — Google review
Had a poor experience in Commodore Hotel with Breakfast. 35 mins waiting for breakfast with a booked placement. Service staff were very rude when we requested updates on the food, shouting across room in front of guests that the kitchen was very busy. Asked for toast on numerous occasions with none forthcoming. Really disappointed with this experience and will not be staying in this hotel again.

Great customer service. The mini Irish breakfast is delicious, so good that I regret not having ordered the Full Irish itself. Bacon was spotless, and I became addicted to their hash brown. Lake Panini is a must have! Completely recommended, if you're not a Full Irish breakfast enthusiast.

Lovely place to grab a bite in Cobh. Staff were v friendly and helpful. We got the toasted "Bay" paninis which had a nice ratio of vegan chz to roasted peppers and courgettes. Also shown are a side of wedges/chips😍 (Full vegan menu available)

Went for lunch with my wife and 1 year old daughter. 50 minutes later still no sign of our food (toasted sandwich, wrap and 3 sausages). Two tables came in 20 minutes after us and still had their food before us! We eventually got up and left. Definitely will not be returning

Visted here yesterday with family just before we headed of on spike Island tour, I ordered breakfasts for us all. Waiting 40 mins still no sign of food brought to table, So asked the waiter how much longer ? I was met with "we are very busy" hold in mind that there was about 9 customers inside most were already eating food. So we waited food came 10mins later and it was like a plate of grease tasteless and bland will never return again.

Absolutely delicious. We got the special of the day (homemade gnocchi) and it was some of the finest Italian food I’ve ever had. Super nice folks, highly recommend.

The stack of pancakes are huge! American style and amazing. Staff are friendly and helpful. Service was a bit slow the day that we were there but we were in no rush anyway ☺️

Absolutely filthy premises. From entrance door on the ground floor, up the stairs and in the large room where you must stand to wait for your order. A curtain is used to hide the kitchen from the customers. This is filthy and when it was pulled back I could clearly see upright glass door and full door fridges which all had items of clothing or other non food or kitchen related items in top of them. I didn't once see the lady who took my order wash her hands after handling notes and coins. Hand washing should be a priority and it should be visible to Joe and Josephine public to witness, in order to put our minds at rest. In my dish I found the nib of a biro (pen). I telephoned to inform them and was offered another meal. I have never returned and I never will.

Fried rice was one big sticky ball. Never had fried rice like this before. Curry was disgusting. Dark and strong thick goo with no flavour only corn flour. 1st and last time going here
Quacky Q — Google review
My first review, I ordered chicken satay skewers with rice and wonton soup, chicken was extremely fatty and chewy (inedible) and the satay sauce it was in was like gelatine, very gloopy and stringy like melted cheese, extremely (inedible) Rice was alright but I don't remember egg fried rice being so stuck together, And finally my wonton soup, dumplings were like non rendered lumps of fat chewy rubbery, but the soup itself was tasteful and nice. Quality check is needed

The food is amazing, but I must say the girl that works at the front desk is so sweet and nice to talk to, very good attitude, the building itself could be cleaner

I got apache in cobh tonight, I got a taco fry me and my friends, as I was eating I found a black hair in my food, I felt sick, the try offer me a new taco fry, but I was turned off my food with what I found, and I told them I felt sick and they did nothing for me,
McD M — Google review
Shocking customer service, staff are rude and unhelpful, food was average. Edit for restaurants kind response: I'm not bothered contacting you your service is shocking and as I previously stated your food is poor. Not the first time I had issues with my order as many times I've had missing items on separate occasions, incorrect order or my food was cold. Won't be seeing any of my business in future :)
