Had a lovely visit to Schauinsland last week. Because of a temperature inversion, we got lucky and could see the Alps! Great views from the tower.

Lovely location, fantastic view from the tower - which is now open again. Great walking in the area. Wilder than Feldberg, if not quite as high. Would highly recommend getting the cable car to enhance the experience. Well worth the ride - great way of experiencing the wild landscape.

One of the best views in the black forest in my opinion. It is quite easy to arrive by public transport from Freiburg, and there are many trails to hike and even a small lake behind the mountain. The cable car is an easy and fun way to get to the top. When I visited the tower was closed, which is a shame but still amazing views all around.

Great landmark for hiking. Bring your book as well as a drink. Sit at the top and relax. You’ll have an amazing view of the valley. Super beautiful paths for walk. If you have a semester ticket or a regional ticket, you’ll get a discount for the cable car.

Cable car pulls you to the top of the mountain and rest of the way is hiking. There is a red line for steep hike, whereas a green line for easygoers. We took the red line to the summit. Incredible views of the black Forest and the hike was super nice through the thick pine forest. Highly recommended.

Nice place, decent fun experience with the cable car up. Scenery was nice but not amazing. It is something different for people who want to get away from the city. The ease of reaching here through public transport is a great plus point too.

One of the gates of the old town. Very beautiful and very nicely restored. An interesting old-new contrast is given by the tram line that passes through the arch of the gate, on which modern trams pass.

Beautiful architecture. Worth the walk. Besodes, you can find a great bakery below the gate. You can find a good variety of sandwiches and sweet breads. Perfect spot for a photo and snack pause ⏸️!!

The Schwabentor is one of the only two remaining old city entrances of the fortified city of Freiburg. It is a beautiful tower with a special architecture that lets you into the city center. From here you can walk into the center to all the shopping streets. It is a beautiful building with the painting that depicts the legend of Schwaben. With its merchant carrying barrels full of money to buy the city of Freiburg. The idea was not only absurd but even funnier when they found out his wife secretly took the money and replaced it with sand and stones 😂

Nice gate that leads to the hill on the edge of the city with many walking and hiking paths. Its in good condition and a main sight in the city.

Very interesting small museum inside the tower.

A large and very impressive place, with beautiful interior architecture. The main hall is stunning and worth the visit. However, the climb to the top is not particularly special. Once you reach the upper level, you can pay extra to go a bit higher, but it’s unnecessary and not worth the money. The stairs are narrow, making it extremely difficult to pass when people are coming in the opposite direction — the same problem on the way down. You can also see the bell up close, but be aware that the sound is deafening.

Freiburg Cathedral is absolutely beautiful, full of incredible details everywhere you look. The architecture is stunning. Every corner of the cathedral shows amazing craftsmanship. It’s truly a must-see! ✨

It's free to visit no entry fee needed. Loved the tinted glasswork and the atmosphere. Very peaceful as other churches around. What catches the eye is the architecture. Worth a visit.

Cathedral’s history started being Romanesque church around 1200, transitioned to Gothic structure in 1250s (inspired by nearby Strasbourg cathedral) with West Tower being completed in 1330. While the city was heavily bombed in WW2, cathedral survived with minor damage (likely due to being notable landmark for Allied Bombers).

Nice cathedral, beautiful Gothic architecture. It's obviously a very touristy place, but I think it's worth a visit. I've been there on a weekday but it was still crowded. It's obviously one of the most interesting places to visit in Freiburg.

A large open area near the cathedral, surrounded by many cafes and restaurants, and the nearby streets are full of clothing and cosmetics stores, and there's everything.

A not very large museum, housed in the building of a former church. In general, you will see religious art. A unique and interesting fact is that there is a small room where you can watch the restoration of some paintings live through the window. There is a small painting exhibition in the attic. On the ground floor is an temporary exhibition with objects from the former German colonies in Africa. If you are not a fan of religious art, you visit it in about an hour.

Excellent museum. Not very big but quite interesting, especially because of the gothic statues and (pseudo) gargoyles that you normally could have admired only from a huge distance on the cathedral tower. You can walk up to them and also see them from above. Similarly they have some beautiful stained glass that you can admire from up close. Apart from these statues and the glass they have a fine collection of medieval paintings and (other) sculptures. Another bonus is their organ, which was played at noon on the Saturday that I visited.

An excellent museum. I truly enjoyed the wonderful artworks on display. The lady at the front desk was very kind and welcoming. However, while visiting the second floor, one of the gallery attendants seemed a bit overly strict. I did not touch any artwork and kept a reasonable distance of about 30 cm, yet she repeatedly said "No, no, no" and followed me around, which I found quite unpleasant. Despite this, I greatly appreciate the museum and the effort put into providing such a remarkable experience.

The museum is set in an old church which has been renovated and converted. Beautiful building with an outstanding roof showing the ancient oak beams. All the pieces are of religious significance and all beautifully maintained and preserved. Unfortunately the staff watched you like a hawk which really put you on edge...

A must-visit musuem while in Freiburg! Beautiful museum full of amazing art pieces from the medieval ages set in an ancient monastery. All the descriptions are well written and the museum is organized well. Much of the museum has been well preserved and restored, and there is a lot of construction on the exterior but it very minimally affected my experience inside. Great addition of an elevator for those handicapped or not capable of going up many flights of stairs. The special exhibits on the bottom of the museum and top were very engaging and well curated.

During my visit on a Saturday there was supposedly a fire alarm and all guests had to be removed from the building. The Museum closed down much earlier than it was supposed to. We couldn't get back inside later to complete our visit, no money back or a voucher either. Many guests didn't even manage to go to the first floor. I missed the third floor, which I really wanted to see. This has never happened to me before in a museum. An unpleasant experience.

A nice place for a picnic and swimming. It's also a good place taking a stroll or even running. The scenery is also good.

It’s a massive park around a Great Lake of Flückiger See, the lake is very clean, people enjoy sun bathing and relaxing while some other enjoy swimming, or even other water sports. It’s filled with sport activities around the park, you can find a restaurant, and toilets around this park. Ducks, geese, turtles and fishes are clearly visible. Benches all around so you can rest and enjoy the view. It’s easily accessible by public transportation.

Central Park? Nice try… but have you been to Seepark? Right next to the city center, yet it feels like another world. Sunsets over the lake, chilled beer in hand, friends on the grass, ducks doing their thing, pure Freiburg magic. Seepark isn’t just a park, it’s a lifestyle. Come once, stay for hours. Come twice, fall in love.

great place to chill and enjoy summer. it's like a paradise, where you will experience peace and joy with family and friends..here you can swim, have picnic, grill, dine in the resto, enjoy the view, play with ducks and tortoises, dive for aome people, sun bathing even naked, or even just read a book by the bench or by the green grasses...so many possibilities to enjoy here...best thing is that it's free..

I love this park. It's a great space to run around and/or do a workout at the outdoor gym and/or have a swim in the lake. There are also sports facilities like a 400m track, a soccer field and swimming baths adjacent to/within the park. There is also a rolling hills section when you can take your trail/mountain bike on. If it's your rest day, there are great spaces to just sit or lay and people-watch or bird-watch from the grassy lawns or the numerous towers. Groups of people come here to toss a ball around or play spikes all. Couples just doing romantic stuff like picnicking and watching the sunset are also common. There is a nice boardwalk that arcs over the lake which is also a great sundowner observation spot. You can lock a padlock on the balustrade for goodluck for your relationship haha. Sometimes you may also see some people rope swing from the boardwalk into the water. Pay close attention to the water life. You will find fish, birds and TURTLES. If you're hungry after your visit, there are shops a couple hundred meters from the park which are easy and quick to get to.

Nice adventure and mini golf, nice playground, nice place for kayaking , boating and fishing, nice parking. Will cost you 6euro for 3hrs up

Nice park overall, it's just a shame that the buildings have been tarnished by graffiti.

Wiwilíbrücke otherwise known as Blue Bridge is symbolic post card image of Freiburg. In Past the bridge used to have a tram line connecting two parts of the city. Later, it was removed and only opened for cars. And currently, it is only for pedestrians and bikers. At one end of the Bridge, a bike meter is installed which records, the number of bikes passing through the bridge. As Freiburg is also known as Bike city of Germany, this bridge symbolizes biking. Freiburg Marathon yearly, is hosted over this bridge. From the bridge, the Herz Jesu Kirche, otherwise Stuhlinger church can be seen, which adds scenic characteristics to the Blue color bridge during sunsets, and night.

You'll see some people enjoying their time while watching the sunset on top of it, often during spring and summer time. Surely it's a wonderful evening for them. If you love photography, this iconic bridge in Freiburg is worth to be captured.

South of the modern train station is the Wiwilí Bridge, which, thanks to its blue paintwork, is consequently not called the Red Bridge but the Blue Bridge. The chic building is listed and only accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. Cars have to find other ways. The bridge is worth a visit and opens the way to many other sights.

It's a lovely place to spend an evening with your loved ones or near ones.

Watching the sunset from here makes bars & restaurants obsolete.

Free to walk about. Nice place for kids to run around in the water. Square is pretty big. There are events here from time to time. There is nothing much here aside the sights otherwise. There are places to sit around and enjoy too.

Open space to walk, for kids to play with the fountain....some rallies or group activities are also done here.... Near tram stations and the freiburg hbf...it is a place to stop-by and take a moment to breathe while watching people come and go.. Though i think the city can develop it more.

Nice place to sit and enjoy the sun. The site is named for the synagogue that was built here but destroyed by the Germans during Krystalnach 1938. You can see the outlines of where the synagogue stood with a brief explanation of the place.

The space could've been used better It's such a big square with so much wasted potential

It is the floorplan of the synagogue burned down by Nazis during WWII. It is located in a crowded square in front of the Freiburg Theatre. More info in the pictures.

After reconstruction this is a carfree zone 'where living is easy'. Just sit down for a moment or two and enjoy the people walking and bicycling by, the students sitting around and chatting/having fun and the full trams rambling past the square

Peaceful and thought provoking

Beautiful place! Schlossberg tower is 35mt high and you can join the view of the city from there. Of course to get to the tower, a walk in the forest is recommended.

Best place to see sunset in Freiburg. Would recommend to go there during sunset time. Also you will get good view of city from top and all along the way.

If you enjoy hiking, discovering old cities, walking in forests, cultural visits to old castles, this place is absolutely right for you. A must visit for adventurers who come to Freiburg. There are two ways to go up the mountain; the long paved and slightly inclined road which of course is longer, and the other steep, spiral short way to the peak. I took the shorter one upward and the longer on my way down to enjoy the beauty of both. Up at the highest point you find a historical compass map for the directions and cities inside Germany. On your way up, you’ll pass by 2 telescopes through which you can view any direction you want really close. To use them you’ll need 50 cents or 1 euro coins. There is a nice restaurant with breath taking view where you can enjoy your meal right on the mountain of Schlossberg. Suitable for families, couples, friends and children but with care and caution. Take a lot of photos there and enjoy the nature!

One of the most recognizable sights in town, the gate is most beautiful from the inner city side. Shame there is a McDonald's located next to it. However it's stunning still. Too bad its not open to the public.

Freiburg has two surviving medieval city gates: Martinstor and Schwabentor, both originally part of the city's 13th-century fortifications. Martinstor, the older of the two, was significantly modified in the early 1900s with Neo-Gothic additions that gave it its current height and clock tower.

Spent two days in Freiburg with friends. The beer was really great, the food not so much. I ordered a tarte flambée and it was just as good as a frozen one made at home. The view was great though. We‘ll definetly go back there again, but just for drinks.

Amazing view over Freiburg! The food was just okay, not the highlight, but the setting makes up for it. Walking up the hill feels totally worth it once you sit down with a cold beer and take in the scenery. A great spot to relax, especially on a sunny evening. Definitely come here more for the atmosphere and the view than for the food.

Amazing views and decent fries (a bit stale)! The issue is we ordered a pilsner and a radler and we couldn’t taste the lemonade in the radler at all. It was honestly hard to detect a difference between the radler and the pilsner so I’m almost sure they made a mistake but they gave me the beer and said it was a radler. I also didn’t see lemonade get poured in the glass. That plus the stale fries and slightly steep prices means I would only come back for the incredible views!

Easily the best located of Freiburg’s three beer gardens. Amazing views and great beer. Self service. Go for the views and the beer: Skip the food, which isn’t that good. Accessible via lift or walking up the hill.

The cafe was recommended by our airbnb host and only managed to visit on our last day. The restaurant were closed and only the cafe were operating when we visited for breakfast. only pastries and some tarts are available.

That's an awesome place to dine when you go for the cable car ride, they have this outdoor dining too but it's mostly crowded, people keeps coming as it's the only close restaurant there, don't miss the view over the top.

What a beautiful view from this place. The food was fresh, delicious and well presented. Customer service was excellent, with a very relaxed and extremely friendly approach. They speak multiple languages so not having command of the German language is not a problem. My family and I are happy to come back. Please note that the outdoor area is not smoker free so if you have issues with cigarette smoke, it is better to sit inside.

The service is very friendly, attentive but not overbearing. They are very helpful and willing in accommodating dietary restrictions. The food is a great mixture of northern Italian classical ingredients with the chefs innovative approach. The wine list is a great selection of Italian wines from across the country. This has been the best dining experience I have had in Freiburg for a long time. The combination of outstanding food and service in a beautifully thought out ambience is refreshing and I hope this place will stay in business for a long, long time!

Very charming restaurant with some amazing dishes and a good variety of Italian wines. The two signature dishes were outstanding.

Waitress are very friendly and professional. Quality of food are good and very delicious. Will suggest take the "Eichhalde Minü", so can try various dish.

We enjoyed our walk up to the top and climped the tower for a brow across the mountains to the snowfields. Worth the walk but it is a trek and will take you a good hour and a half (or so) up and back with the top of the tower included.

Great place for a bit of hiking but paths should be better colour coded and the place lacks of public maps or information in English. We had been stopped by at least 10 walkers for advice and luckily we had a downloadable map on our mobile to help. Unfortunately the tower is closed until autumn. Some places seriously needs cleaning and tidying up as we have seen lots of discarded dirty shoes, clothes, needles and bottles just above the station where the views would have been excellent (but we were scared to walk across on that level and turned back to find another path). Lovely and clean places to rest on the other side and around the cross.

After climbing up we were rather disappointed to find the tower closed and encased in a large fence. Some of the views on the way up were nice and the paths were well maintained but the summit is full of trees and I personally think it isn't worthwhile, the view is better from some of the other points on the hill.

I love this turm, haven't been here since 2011, but it's just as good as I remember. Awesome views, and feels super safe to walk up and down, and plenty of space to pass people.

We stopped by for lunch after hearing some good things, and overall, it was a pleasant enough experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was cosy. I tried a few of the soups, they were definitely the highlight for me. Each had a distinct flavour and the seasoning was spot on. The lentil soup, in particular, was lovely warm and comforting. That said, I wasn’t completely blown away by the rest of the meal. The mains lacked a bit of depth and could’ve done with more creativity. It felt a little on the safe side🤝 Still, the service was great and the team did their best to make us feel at home. I might come back for a bowl of soup and a quiet afternoon, but I’d probably try somewhere else for something more memorable. Thanks.

They served the worse ice-cream I have ever had. It was full of ice pieces inside and god knows how old it was. I ordered bcz I thought they do fresh. Its just turist scam. Only the view they have nothing else.

My experience here was very brief. I came on a Wednesday, 1,5 hours before closing time, for a piece of schwarzwald kuchen and a beer. Dattler was recommended to me for one of the best places to get schwarzwald kuchen. As I arrived, the waiter was very accommodating and friendly. Throughout the night the various staff have been very polite and professional. I sat outside, next to wall which overlooks the city including the cathedral. This view is probably one of the best in the city. It started to rain while I was enjoying my cake and beer and the staff lowered screens between me and the view to protect me from the rain but not low enough to block my view (very considerate). I had been waiting to try this cake for a long time so my expectations were high. It was really nice but I realised then that I'm not a big cake lover. No fault to the cake, it's just not my preference. I only ordered cake so I don't feel like I can give a fair rating for the food, only the service and atmosphere.

Great view of the city. Nice place to get the black forest cake with coffee or have a cocktail. Their meals are quite expensive though. We were able to get a seat without having a reservation. Would recommend after taking the cable car up Schlossberg.

This restaurant of fine German dining has its act together. Definitely worth the experience. Service was attentive and courteous. The ambience is amazing, wonderful view of Freiburg. If possible schedule your reservation 1-1.5 hour before sunset if the weather is right you will not be disappointed. The food flavor was excellent and the meat tender with just right medium preparation. Many compliments to the chef for near perfection! One of the best for sure. Romantic and quiet indoors, open air and cozy outdoors.

Absolutely good experience. I have been here maybe 15 years before but I was well impressed. I admit that we were lucky and got one of the best tables at the terrace. I recommend booking in advance because the terrace was fully booked on Saturday already a day before. The place is well kept but not too formal, the obvious highlight is the terrace with the amazing view on the city. The service was really good, fast and attentive without being intrusive, and at least some waiters speak English. The food is also quite good, quite a twist on typical German foods. Also a wide range if vegetarian and vegan options is available. Prices are in line with the quality, medium-upper range. Will be happy to come back in the future.

There are a lot of customers in this restaurant, so you need to wait. At that time, I couldn't see the Black Forest cake at the scene, and I was very disappointed. But the manager told me that he would take out the finished cake soon, and he would keep a piece for me. So in the end I ate the Black Forest Cake and it was delicious. The cream had a strong cherry wine flavor and the cake was soft.

If you are visiting Freiburg, no hotel offers a better location. Communication in advance was excellent, clear and accommodating: we ended up with exactly the room we wished. Staff went out their way to please, especially front desk and the breakfast staff. Breakfast was very good. The room was spacious and impeccably clean. Freiburg is a great place to base a visit to the Black Forest. The hotel restaurant is very professional and courteous.

This review is about the restaurant and not the hotel. This place offers an authentic German dining experience and food was great. Directly at Münsterplatz in a charming old building. Inside everything is well-preserved, cozy ambiance with rustic decor. Overall friendly staff but at times it felt that they were not very professional addressing a couple of issues we had regarding orders.

After three days in Germany, my wife and I finally had our first real meal at Oberkirchs Weinstuben—and it was unforgettable. The food was authentic and beautifully prepared, the service was professional yet warm, and the ambiance captured the charm of Freiburg perfectly. Nestled in an excellent location near the cathedral, this spot is everything you’d hope for in a traditional German dining experience. Highly recommended!

Excellent lunch & service. Great position with an olde world field. Eaten a lot.of trout & mine with potatoes was excellent. My wife had the sausage, lentils & spaetzle

Spring rolls were cold in the middle and most of the potatoes were raw in the middle. The summer salad came with half a cherry tomato, for 25€ you’d expect at least a whole one. Service is very slow. The restaurant is a gouge. Extremely disappointing for the prices on the menu. Avoid.

Location was pretty good once we found the correct entrance! No AC- there was a fan which was fine. Bathrooms were nice.

We went there in December. We went to eat at their restaurant but didn't stay at their hotel. The service was quick. The waiters were very accommodating and friendly. They even gave us a pack of tea because it was after Christmas. The food was of good quality and quantity. Really worth it for its price. The sausage were really tasty, the salad and the stuffed food that is in the picture.

very beautiful view of freiburg cathedral!!! pina coloda tasted good. only thing was for some reason we weren’t allowed to eat any food that we ordered outside, so we only got drinks, which we had to carry up about 3 flights of stairs to the balcony. but other than that, they had nice music and seating.

Went there for some drinks and cake. We ordered the cheesecake—not the best I’ve had, but decent. Drinks were good, though nothing exceptional. The view, however, is absolutely stunning—worth visiting for that alone. The service was excellent: super friendly and attentive.

Although there was a perfect view here, my coffee and cake were served seperately. I should say that I had to ask for my cake. When the cake arrived, my coffee had already gone cold. I don’t know why the food should be servedat different times. Also, the cheese cake was fine, but not special.

Nice 360° view from the rooftop

A really nice and well situated restaurant on 5th floor in Altstadt Freiburg. It also has a toproof 360 degree view outdoor bar (and food) overlooking the roofs in Alstadt and with magnificent views over Freiburg, of Schwarzwald and the mountainridges to the west into France. A can warmly reccomend this place for that special dinner or a lager group of friends, plenty of space they have a menu with many choices, a nice winelist and bier.

The place have a great view of the city, and they have elevator. I find this place a bit expensive, but for the view I suppose is worth it. I recommend the terrace to take a drink with friends, and enjoy the view. The personnel was very kind, even though we order just water.

Quite a small museum We entered for free with the welcome card. I liked how the objects were presented. There is a good content for children. And interactive stations. P.S. Maybe you should lock the rooms which are not meant to be visited by the public or put a paper on the door saying „private“ or have a better sign on the wall how to get to the toilet (in the basement). When I was searching the toilet, I opened about 4 rooms which I was not supposed to (not part of the museum).

Small and nice. We came with our teen children and spent about 2 hrs. In many of the rooms there are summaries in English and Spanish. There are a couple of interactive activities. The best is to wear a Roman military costume… those guys we athletes! 100% recommended if you want to know more about the ancient history of the region.

I dont know if we were just lucky or if they play more often. Can absolutely recommend for any touristes or visitors :)

Your not taking this Bahn to fasten what else would be a day hike. The walk up is pretty easy and if you happen to need to wait for the next ride to get down, walking was probably faster. A return ticket was six euros, I would advise to take a one way and walk down.

You can pay for one way or round trip. The ride takes 3 minutes. We did one way. Then you can either walk down (10-15 min) or take the elevator. It takes you up to the restaurant Dattler where you can get some black forest cake and enjoy the view of the city. Would recommend!

A cute experience. This train helps us cross first half of the hill so we can save some energy to climb the next half and the tower on top. Very clean, beautiful park, with the playground for kids, and a large pound with ducks swimming around, just like fairytales coming to life.

A lovely park, with lots going on. We went on a sunday and there was a man doing an excellent bubble performance for children, and a silver band playing music. Also there's a funicular to reach a beautiful viewpoint over the city.

A lovely green Eden just a short walk away from the very lively city centre. Good place to relax and recharge batteries for small and big.Enjoy the sunshine next to the lake or get some lovely cooling shades under the big trees. Good playground and often live entertainment.

Lovely, clean park with playground area for kids. Great for picnic outings and outdoor grilling (only in designated areas). Also great for fitness enthusiasts who can go for a jog, or run up the hiking trails and stairs. If you like, you can go up the hill using the Schlossbergbahn. From there it's about another 15min hike to the top, where you can enjoy breathtaking views.

A nice park especially for the kids with slides and swings and other things. Including sand to play in and duck pond. Plenty of walks up the hill. Coffee shop for good coffee.

A wonderful experience riding the historic cable car to explore the amazing views of the Black Forrest mountains. There weren't any crowd when we were there during the Easter holidays which is lucky. There is an affordable coffee / drinks vending machine at the foot hill station where you can purchase a nice drink to enjoy for the trip.

What a joyful ride, and that just to get there. Fair price for the trip up. The view is worth it. Go up the tower a short walk up and the 360deg view is stunning.

Fabulous site not far from the town of Freiburg. You can take a tram then bus to access it. We took the car. Cable car ride spectacular and reasonable prices. At the top there are fabulous 360 degree views of the black forest, with lots of trails to explore. There is also a mine you can visit whilst there which although all in German was interesting to see. A restaurant, lots of seating, perfect for a picnic. Really enjoyed the morning there. Touted to be the longest loop cable car in Germany it takes 20 mins. for a round-trip. Hiking 🥾 to the top is more enjoyable than cable car. You get a fairly good view from the top.

This was an excellent area for walking and taking in the scenery but the Schloss (castle) is just a fancy decorated front of the Water Department's pumphouse. Not a real castle.

A short trek up a small mountain leads you to the Wasserschössle. When you reach it you get a limited view of parts of the outskirts of Freiburg. It's not the most exciting place but it looks nice and the walk isn't too bad.

This site is open all the time - no tickets required. We walked to the Ruine Schneeburg from a carpark about 2km down the hill. It was a beautiful scenic walk (mostly uphill) on a dirt road that turns to mud after rain/snow. I would not recommend to walk after it has rained. The ruins themselves are great, but not extensive. It was worth the photos in my opinion :)

I took quite a strenuous 5km jog/hike from the Black Forest Hostel to get to the turm. The tower stands tall, high up on a hill in the middle of a wooded area. You may cross paths with cyclists and other hikers along the way. You need to climb another 5 or 6 levels to get to the top of the tower. Becareful! There was a wasp nest somewhere ontop when I was there in August! The view is great as you can judge by the pics. If you're going with your partner and want to do the lock thing for goodluck then I guess that's an idea for you (check the pics).

Very good views, besides the fact the tower feels pretty wobbly at the top. It's a bit confusing sometimes which way to take, but coming down is very quick. Definitely a good quick hike to do new Freiburg!

Was somehow expecting a Burg or at least Ruine 😅 there was none. The view is amazing and the hike quite enjoyable. I hiked from Günterstal to Kybfelsen and then back in Freiburg from the other side of the mountain: highly recommend doing this if you are looking for a day trip (~5 hrs door-to-door if I remember correctly)

One of the best Freiburg views. Climb isn’t necessarily hard and it offers a scenic overview of the city. Make sure to come at sunny days or dusk for a special experience. Depending on fitness and you’re starting location climb takes 1-3 hours.

I was there with a friend we started our hike from Freiburg Herdern and it took us around 4-5 hours for round hike. In order to get the key, you have to go in and to the top of the Zähringer Burg.. You can get this key from the "Wald-Restaurant Zähringer Burg" which is just 10 minutes walk from Ruin Zähringer Burg... You have to give your identity card or passport as a caution for the key....
