Nestled in the heart of Cody, Wyoming, the Buffalo Bill Center of the West is a must-visit destination for anyone intrigued by the rich tapestry of American Western history. This remarkable complex comprises five distinct museums and a research library that collectively celebrate the legacy of William Frederick Cody—better known as Buffalo Bill. Here, you can delve into captivating exhibitions that highlight not only his life but also showcase Plains Indian culture, stunning western art, an extensive collection of firearms, and fascinating insights into natural history.
I visited the Buffalo Bill Center of the West recently, and it far exceeded my expectations. I originally came for the Firearms Museum, since my son is deeply interested in the history and mechanics of firearms, and I was blown away by the depth, organization, and sheer scale of the collection. You could spend hours in just that one wing, it’s a world-class archive of American firearm history, and it doesn’t shy away from the technical, cultural, and ethical complexities. The other museums are equally compelling. Each one feels like a complete experience, whether you’re exploring Plains Indian culture, the Draper Natural History Museum, or the Whitney Western Art Museum. You can tell that the curators care about nuance and authenticity. The entire center gives space to both the mythology of the West and the realities, honoring Indigenous history while acknowledging the contradictions of frontier life. I’m a member, and my experience with the staff was mixed. Some staff members were helpful, others seemed disengaged. Still, the campus is well laid out: clean, clearly labeled, and easy to navigate. I also appreciated having a comfortable snack area and coffee shop on site. It’s a great place to take a break between museums, especially if you’re spending a full day exploring. The educational programs and volunteer opportunities are another plus, reflecting the center’s broader commitment to learning and community. Whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or traveling with family, this center offers something rich and meaningful. If you’re anywhere near Cody, Wyoming, don’t miss it. It’s not just a museum, it’s a place that invites you to think, feel, and engage with the complicated history of the American West.

This was one of the most informative museums I have been to in a long time! What a find! So much information on. Buffalo Bill and Wyoming history! You could spend a whole day here! The gun exhibit is absolutely incredible. Hundreds if not thousands of vintage and modern weapons that were used. Fascinating to watch and learn the history of them. What an incredible collection. The art exhibits are fantastic with some oil paintings you mistake for a photo. The details are incredible. Its clean, organized and so quiet for a nice stroll to learn something new. They have a cafeteria and great options for your whole family even a salad bar with plenty of seating! Refillable drinks, coffee, snacks.... and even an outdoor playground when the kids get restless. An absolute gem!
Caiti C — Google review
Wow, this place is amazing. There are several exhibitions, the art, the buffalo bill and the firearm sections were my favorites. These were impressive. The native American section is nice but is limited, I have been to the Smithsonian one in the national Mall and it is much better.
Dr. Z — Google review
This is a fantastic museum! Your ticket is good for 2 days. It's several museums in 1 spot. Make sure you look for the box with the embosser for a unique keepsake. It stamps a seal on your booklet at different stations. The men will even love this stop, it has a great firearms museum. Must see if you come thru Cody.
Linda R — Google review
Very nice museum(s). The different areas were well put together and everything was so clean and well lit. They have done a great job! Take 2 days to see it all...
Brad H — Google review
Loved this place!! It was so cool! Lots of history and enjoyed a lot of the exhibits. They have a g*n exhibit that was huge if you’re into that sort of thing. Lots of indigenous art, paintings, period pieces and biology lessons. Would go back to spend more time if I could! We spent about 2 hours but could have stayed longer.
Alison P — Google review
These museums were amazing! We took part in the scavenger hunt, and it made our experience that much more enjoyable. There was a raptor experience, and we enjoyed playing "Fact or Fowl." This full day experience was absolutely worth the price of admission.
Kathrine C — Google review
This is a massive museum complex, so many different things to see. Honestly, I don’t know how you could do it all in one day, but it’s definitely worth stopping in for the time that you do have. You can learn so much and see so many neat things. Highly recommend for all ages. There is definitely something for everyone here. We also were lucky enough to finally see the chuck wagon in action and enjoyed trying the beans and sourdough biscuits, Which were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this museum for anyone in the area.

Old Trail Town in Cody, Wyoming is a captivating family attraction that offers a glimpse into the history of the Old West. This unique site features 26 historic frontier buildings dating from 1879 to 1901, which were carefully transported and reassembled under the direction of Western historian Bob Edgar.
What a fun and interesting place to visit. We absolutely loved our visit here. The place is just dripping with historical accuracy in the exhibits. Everything is well preserved and presented. Definitely a place we would revisit next time we're in the area. Highly recommended
Gary G — Google review
I could have stayed here for days! The history and artifacts and buildings are amazing! Stories about the old and wild west connected to the cabins and their locations. It's a living museum. You can picture the people and their lives while exploring.
Schreilafarm — Google review
We really enjoyed this self guided tour! If you're in the area, take an hour or so to visit. The original artifacts and cabins were wonderful to see. I loved learning more about our history.
Amy D — Google review
A great welcome with detailed information about the town and its history. Interesting to see how people lived, and thought provoking too. It does feel though, as it was well put together initially, and left that way. A lot of stuff looked as though it was going to deteriorate a lot more than it already has without some care and attention .
Catherine S — Google review
So cool to see what an old Western town would have looked like. Great preservation of history. You can really let your mind wander and imagine what it would have been like to live in one of the cabins or shop in the General Store or play poker at the Saloon.
Debbie S — Google review
Excellent place to experience old American wild west society. The artifacts belong to various timeline, but gives an idea how people back then lived. The commerical establishments are preserved and provides glimpse into how capitalism evolved. It will take two hours or more if you focus on details. Otherwise you can browse through within an hour.
Subash P — Google review
This was 1 of out many stops on our roadtrip and I would recommended this. All of the old cabins and items well preserved and displayed. So much historical information packed into this old town.
Ruby S — Google review
We go once a year. There’s just something about the smell of old wood and leather. Many of the cabins are from local areas and have been relocated to create this old trail town. So many neat artifacts to look at with information plaques to read. Several colorful characters are even buried here. The museum is located on the original site of where Buffalo Bill Cody first established the town of Cody.

Cody Trolley Tours offers a one-hour loop that showcases historic homes, public art, and the Buffalo Bill Reservoir. The family-owned business provides an authentic experience of Cody's rich history and modern-day charm. Starting at the iconic Irma Hotel, named after Buffalo Bill's daughter, the vintage trolley-style buses cover 22 miles of Cody's late-19th-century history. Visitors can enjoy entertaining mock gunfights staged outside the hotel on summer evenings.
Book it now! Seriously stop reading, sign up, get ready to laugh and book it! Book it! Book it! Best experience in Cody. Granny and I went to the rodeo, we walked the museum, we even went to Albertsons and nothing compared to this amazing ride. The jokes were funny, the ride was smooth. It was a hot day but they had a/c going so not too bad. The guides are super organized and prepared and the information was fun to learn. If you’re in Cody and you don’t stop by the trolley, you’re missing out. Grandma said she felt like she was in an episode of Daniel Tigers Neighborhood so she hummed the song all afternoon following our trolley ride. Gotta do this, people. Book it. Worth every penny and then some! 5 stars but only because we don’t have an option for more.

This is a great way to start a trip in Cody. Give a great lay of the land and history with dad jokes. Highly recommended.
Trey H — Google review
I love the Cody Trolley tour! It was so fun to ride on the trolley and hear about the history of Cody. The driver was great and the announcer was fun and informative. Definitely recommend! We also do their Christmas tour in the limo every year and it's just so fun!! The driver is wonderful. They know all the best places to see and there was room for the whole family. They even had treats at the end. Such a great, memory making trip! My children loved it too.
Cedar T — Google review
Awesome entertainment while enjoying the tour. Tracey was a very spot on communicator, held everyone’s attention the entire time. Well worth the cost!

Really enjoyed the tour with all the history on the town.

Excellent and very informative tour! We learned about the history of Cody and with our limited time in Cody, feel that we got a wonderful overview! The trolley is very comfortable, and the guide were very interesting! Loved the visual aids to supplement their discussions. Highly recommend!

Had an amazing time on the Cody Trolley! I've lived in Cody my whole life and still learned some fun facts about my hometown! Friendly guides, good drivers, and a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone passing through and wanting to learn about what makes Cody special.
Megan B — Google review
We try to do trolley tours in all the towns & usually enjoy them. This one was boring, though driver & host were very nice. I guess there just isn't that much in Cody to get excited about. ***Response to owner. I appreciate your insights. I guess it is just a comparison to similar tour types in St. Augustine, Dublin, Savannah, etc. I travel a lot. I appreciate offer of a refund. You have to earn a living so I am ok. Again, I would say the tour guide and driver were great. Informative and humorous. It was that it was somewhat boring. If taken by itself, and not compared to our other experiences, I'm sure it is lovely for others. Thank you for your response.

Shooting range

At the Cody Firearms Experience, visitors aged 8 and above can partake in a unique opportunity to shoot a variety of historic firearms, including an 1861 Springfield rifle and a Thompson Tommy submachine gun. Additionally, modern guns like the Glock 9mm and AR-15 are available for firing. The staff at this indoor shooting range prioritize professionalism and safety, providing thorough explanations of what to expect and all safety regulations.
It isn't every vacation day that an event will leave an enduring fond impression on you and your family. Not knowing what to expect, we entered the shop/gun-range/history & cultural center and met with Deputy Alex. He was finishing up some work behind the counter but was quick to greet us. There was no pressure to sell you anything, just dialogues on guns, its capabilities, capacities and commencement of usage. As we talked to Deputy Alex, our conversation got more interesting by the minute. Our eyes were directed to a wall display of firearms with synopses written under each. Then there was the Gatling Gun, which he said that we could fire that one too. Boy, did our eyes got bigger. He knew his trade well and he had a straight forward, simple and modest tone throughout his teaching and professional instruction. At no time did we felt unsafe under his watching eyes as we took to the range, and that includes an 8 year old boy who has zero firearm experience. The experience were incredibly rewarding. I handled the musket and the old Henry and came away with a deeper understanding of how our boys fought during those dark times. This isn't just a gun range but American history preserved and experienced. Though very knowledgeable in his trade, Deputy Alex knew what he knew and when asked beyond that scope, he did not pop smoke at me but redirected me to Deputy Junior who was aptly able to satiate my historical curiosities. At the end of the, I had only one question left, "Where's the Sheriff?"
Joseph T — Google review
This was a combination Fathers day and birthday gift. It was a very unique experience. Max was my instructor and historian on the weapons. Ask for Max...he did a great job!

Great destination when I am in Cody. Learn about history, rent cool guns to shoot, throwing axes too, friendly crew, great selection.. a must see attraction in Cody, Wy
Gear W — Google review
I had so much fun! When I drove past and out of the corner of my eye saw the sign saying "shoot a gatling gun" there was no question I was going! They have a selection of shirts to buy and you can use it as your target! If you are into guns give these guys a try.
James N — Google review
This was a really unique experience for my family. The people who work there were very professional and helpful and made it enjoyable! A must-do if you are anywhere near the Cody, Wyoming area!
Christy F — Google review
A must if you are into Western area guns!! We had sooo much fun. Great service and even better instructor - really patient and a lot of respect - especially towards my ladies - really appreciated. We took our time and so many different guns and rifles - still the instructor was easy going explained the handling well and did great with the kids. We m.u.s.t return and do this again. Recommended !!!
Phabean — Google review
We are tourists from the Midwest. My adult nephew had such a great time shooting a Winchester rifle (the gun that won the west). Everything was done professionally and with safety in mind. Wyatt-his instructor-very ably handled the 'first timer' jitters; an excellent and patient coach, who built him up. Making a reservation online was super easy. A fun thing to do for tourists when visiting Wild Bill Cody's town.

Dug Up Guns was awesome! Hans is the owner, and he is a kind gentlemen. He offers knickknacks and historical gifts for a great price and the museum is free. He has an amazing collection of historic firearms and the man is a wealth of knowledge. This was a great place to stop while we passed through Cody, Wyoming.

Very interesting display of found guns from various wars & eras. Makes you wonder about the owners, how the guns were actually used & the eerie question of how many people died because of them. We got a big kick out of Rudy, the owner's adorable dog. He's an exuberant host and greeter!
Paula F — Google review
What a wonderful place! I have been wanting to visit for years and finally got a chance. Drove all the way from Denver to see it and it did not disappoint. We spent 2hrs there and will be back for more. Hans is a wealthy of knowledge and The research he does is top notch! Don’t miss this place when you’re in Cody!

Fascinating exhibit! If you like history, guns and interesting stories you'll like this museum! Hans has quite a collection and is friendly and knowledgeable and easy to talk to. We spent hours looking at the guns, reading the stories and imagining the lives of the former owners of the guns and other artifacts. His collection spans quite a bit of history and you'll learn a lot, not just about guns but about the lives of the former owners and the time periods they lived in. I highly recommend going and remember to leave a generous donation!

Just left this amazing museum a couple of hours ago. The amount of history under roof, and the research the owner has put into each specimen over a 43 year timeframe, is incredible. Well worth a visit. Admission is donation only.

It's a family-friendly spot with chuckwagon-style buffet dinners and live cowboy bands starting at 6:30 pm from early June to mid-September. The most organized event I’ve ever been to. The food was 10 out of 10. The service was amazing. The band was fabulous. I cannot say enough good things about this experience worth every single penny I am a local here in Cody And will definitely go back even just for the food!5 stars! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Exceptional experience from the food to the entertainment. Service was better than a 5 star restaurant. Music was great and served all genres. you could go two nights on a row and they have an odd and even show. No matter your age 100 to 10, you will not be disapointed. A MUST do while in Cody. Best pulled pork we have ever had. I could go on, but experience for yourself and be ready to be part of the entertainment!
Mark M — Google review
It was convenient to have a ride from where we were staying to the restaurant & then to the rodeo. Food was really good, loved the pulled pork & brisket (was too full to try the chicken)! The kids were excited to get to go onstage and med help with the performance.
Deanna B — Google review
My husband set up the date night, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a fantastic time. So much fun! Great music, talented musicians, and some comedy thrown in. Their wait staff and servers were incredible and hard working. Always with a smile. They make you feel welcomed from the moment you walk through the doors. The food was delicious, all you can eat, and even with the many people in attendance, the lines moved quickly and our wait time was short. We highly recommend it when you're passing through Cody or even if you live there. Great time!
Debi T — Google review
If you miss this experience your going regret it. A great dinner of buffet style pulled pork brisket beans slaw macaroni and cheese cornbread all served by the band and working staff. Dinner topped off with a brownie and ice cream. Meet the owners who welcomed everyone. What a pleasure to go there. The band Triple C Cowboys featured some amazing artists. Ryan a decorated guitar player and volcalist...not to leave out Marty, Johnny and Joelene a star in their own light. The show runs an hour after dinner and ends before the Cody Rodeo so you can attend both. Please make reservations for the best seats because this is so popular it sells out. DON'T MISS THIS
Vickie H — Google review
Highly recommend! Cody Cattle Company was very organized to feed all those people great food. The band was very talented, fun with not only cowboy songs but a variety of songs for everyone. Very entertaining. Had a great time and will return again when we come back to the area.
Vickie A — Google review
Where do I start! The food was beyond what I expected such a great value and a great time spend. Musicians are very entertaining super funny and very talented. The show ends right before the rodeo so we were able to get to see both hundred percent guarantee a good time. There is also a gentleman there with a little donkey, super friendly.
Katrina M — Google review
Hands down an experience you won’t regret. The tickets are customizable including up to dinner, show, and the rodeo. The dinner had plenty of options to accommodate different dietary restrictions, was buffet style bbq and a big variety of sides selections, all you can eat, and DELICIOUS. The entertainers were present from the time you walk in the front door and even help provide refills and take your empty plates during the meal. The show was engaging and fun for the whole family. Don’t be afraid to take your children…they’ll love it.

The Cody Firearms Museum is one of the five museums at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, offering a comprehensive look into the history and significance of firearms in American culture. While exploring this museum, visitors can witness an extensive collection of firearms that played a crucial role in shaping the Wild West. The museum's exhibits provide insight into how these weapons have influenced American history and society.
Fantastic museum to use up 2-3 hours of your time depending on how through your visit is. Lots of art from local artists in the form of sculptures, paintings, unique firearms, and natural history. If you like history, firearms, or art, this place is a must see while you’re in Cody.
James K — Google review
Having visited the Firearms Museum before the 2019 renovation, I anticipated a great experience when I returned recently to see the renovated and expanded museum. Pros: * A huge inventory of firearms from various periods, including unique and unusual items. * Bill Ruger’s Hawken collection, which is nicely displayed. * Many Browning prototypes and the Olin collection of Winchesters. Cons: * Lots of wasted space. * Most of the items are in drawers (for use of space, but I thought lots of wasted space could have been utilized for a better display.) * Randomly organized. * Poor lighting downstairs along with items displayed in drawers prevents seeing much detail or color. * Many of the information cards are obviously incorrect. Examples: a Remington Model 513S manufactured about 1940 is listed as a model 613 made in 1907; a Winchester Model 94 in .44 Magnum is listed as “.43 caliber.” (.429 bore rounded to .43, but the cartridge designation would be more useful); a Glock 32 is listed as a .357 “magnum.” Many, many examples of such errors exist. Overall, I was very disappointed in the new museum, but I appear to be in the minority based on the other reviews. Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.
S S — Google review
I have visited this museum many years ago and it somehow looked different in the past.Unfortunately way too many great masterpieces are hidden inside the cabinets.
Steve K — Google review
Poorly curated exhibition of a giant collection of firearms. Pros: they have a GIANT collection of firearms. Cons: the way the museum is set up doesn’t make any sense. Nearly all exhibitions include historical or contextual information below a completely unrelated group of firearms above. I’m really not sure why it’s set up like this. It’s a giant miss. I almost gave it one star but they do have a comprehensive collection.
Ben — Google review
I am sure they have a lot of our history, it is not all on display There is a lot of carpet and glass Difficult to take photos The gift shop lady was very rude to me

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with Red Canyon River Trips and Wild Mustang Tours, offering a variety of guided tours in Yellowstone and Cody, WY. Witness the untamed beauty of wild mustangs as they roam freely in their natural habitat at McCullough Peaks Wild Horse Range. Experience the thrill of a "safari" style journey from Cody to the grasslands, observing these majestic creatures grazing and interacting within their herd.
This tour was AMAZING!!! The tour guide did EVERYTHING he possibly could to get us to see these horses. He was full of knowledge, including where the horses normally stay. He brought us (safely) close to the herd and we got to see a bunch of wild horses. He absolutely went above and beyond to find a herd to show us. He even found us some cows :) I will definitely remember this tour for the rest of my life. (These pictures were taken extremely zoomed in, we were not out close with them)

We knew that seeing the Mustangs could be hit or miss. It was a HIT! I was able to shoot many many photos of the Mustangs AND get a fab shot of a Pronghorn ( bucket list for both!). Justin was our Wonderful Guide & made sure we all had great opportunities to view these magnificent creatures! Justin - You CAN see the eyelashes on that Pronghorn! ;) - Cheryl Black ( Bob)

Sunny was our guide and she was amazing! She was very knowledgeable about the land, laws, and horses, and was so personable. She got us close (but in a safe, legal distance) to the horses, and ensured we got a family photo together! Can’t imagine a better experience.

This was amazing. We saw 2 different herds. 1 of well over 100 from a distance & our guide was determined to find a herd much closer & did much to our surprise. This 2nd group was probably 60. I could have sat all day & watched these horses

Amazing tour guide Avery on our short whitewater rafting trip! We took our first trip with our 11,9 and 6 year olds with ease. Learned lots of the natural hx of Cody, and had an adventurous 1.5 hr ride down the river. Highly recommended. Great tour, fair price, and worth the stop!

Cody Lodging Co offers an amazing tour of the East Yellowstone area with unique amenities that no other company can offer. From accommodations to tours, they have everything you need for a perfect Yellowstone vacation!
We had the most amazing tour day! Sunny was so knowledgeable, and tailored our experience from the very start. She knew the best times to get to each spot, even when to wait some of them out for better views and fewer crowds. But that was just the tour. Sunny made us feel like we were spending the day touring with a favorite aunt. She held my daughter's hand (that's her in the photo), and watched over my son with a careful eye. She planned out bathroom breaks, and a tasty picnic lunch on the patio overlooking Old Faithful. We had fun conversation, and were blown away by her knowledge of the park. Sunny very clearly has a deep love for Yellowstone, and was eager to answer any question we had. We could not have asked for a better guide on our perfect day!

There is more to Wyoming than Yellowstone! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you book a tour with these guys through Bear Tooth Pass. Absolutely STUNNING views! I got to touch Precambrian rock at the summit at almost 11,000 ft! This was THRILLING as someone with degrees in geology and geophysics to touch rock that is 4 billion years old!! We saw a moose, deer and the cutest marmots. I could go on and on! And I’m from Colorado with the mountains in my backyard. Cody was an awesome tour guide!!

We booked the 2 day Yellowstone tour and our guide Sandy was wonderful. She took us on the upper loop the first day which was full of wildlife sightings. Day 2 was the lower loop which included Old Faithful and all of the thermal features. She is very knowledgeable and we had a full 8 hours in the park each day. We recommend this tour!

We had an amazing experiance today with Deanna from Cody Wyoming Adventures. She was super friendly and helpful in answering any questions we had. She made the trip enjoyable and very relaxing. It was so nice to be able to explore Yellowstone National Park stress free and with a tour guide that made the trip fun and exciting. She knew of several places that were not only amazing and beautiful, but had we not taken the tour, we would not have known they were even there! She is not only very professional but also very personable and down to earth at the same time. The ride was super comfortable and enjoyable, especially when we got to open the top and have an open-air ride. It's an experience like no other. From seeing the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone to watching Old Faithfull, to being able to see the wonderfull scenery along the Shoshone River, we could have never been able to see it all had we driven ourselves. Watching the steam vents, spotting wildlife, and seeing the waterfalls and rapids were among some of our favorite places. Being able to have all the snacks, drinks, and lunch provided as well was just another level of professionalism and personal touch that Cody Wyoming Adventures offers. We were very impressed that they were able to cater to our specific dietary restrictions. We would very highly recommend considering useing Cody Wyoming Adventures for your next tour in Yellowstone National Park.

Had a lot of fun on this 55+ Lower Loop tour of Yellowstone. We only had one full day in the park and this was the best way to see as much as possible. Our guide Alison was very personable and full of fun interesting facts and stories. We saw all the best sights, bison walking right next to us on the road, had a nice picnic lunch (they accommodated my GF request), and did some laughing along the way. Highly recommend.

The Wild West Spectacular is a popular summer event that celebrates the legend of Buffalo Bill Cody through a musical extravaganza. Featuring talented dancers and singers, this production has been captivating audiences for five years. The family-friendly show includes the Wild West Gunfight, where actors reenact old West shootouts. Even those who aren't typically fans of theater or musicals have praised the well-written script, impressive sets and costumes, and engaging performances that offer insight into the history of the old west.
The Wild West Spectacular is indeed a SPECTACULAR and amazing show. Beautiful sets. Great costumes and acting and singing. Great show tunes. Local history is woven into the production. If you happen to visit Cody, you must take in the show. Definitely a show for adults and children alike. I highly recommend it.

Our party of 12 had the pleasure of seeing this show during our visit to Cody this week. What an incredible performance! The history, the talent, the singing, everything was enjoyable. Special thank you to Annie and Louisa (😁) for visiting with us prior to the show and giving us history of the building and convincing us that this was a must-see. (They were right!). If you’re on the fence or typically not interested in musicals, don’t hesitate - it’s SO much more than song and dance and we learned a lot. Thanks again!

I am not normally a theater spectator, but this show was very well done and enthusiastically played out by everyone involved! Until coming to Cody I did not know much about Buffalo Bill and this show was extremely historically accurate and informational and I would recommend it to anyone! Thank you! Well done!

The Wild West Spectacular is worth every penny! We went three times last year because we enjoyed it so much. We were pleasantly surprised this year to find they switched a lot of things up. We may just have to go back again before the summer is over! There is a lot of talent in this show and behind the scenes.

It's a very intimate setting and there's no bad seats. We were comfortable in regards to temperature and space. The acting leaves something to be desired. I've seen better performances at community/school theatre. The young Irma at our performance couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. The dancing was very good. If you go in with the mindset that you're watching community theatre, you'll be great. We had the opportunity to go see fireworks so we left at intermission. It was the right choice. Also there's a few instances of profanity and a sexual innuendo. Will likely go over kids heads. Just thought that was worth mentioning since they list it as family friendly.

My son and I were in Cody for the museums and a tour of the Old West. We decided to get tickets to the show on a lark. We both thoroughly enjoyed the show! My sone is 16, and I am not... We walked out of the theater saying to each other " This is what entertainment should be!" The cast greeted us on the sidewalk while exiting the theater. We thanked them very much for the ride. It was Awesome!!

My husband & I really enjoyed the Wild West Spectacular show in Cody! The singing, dancing, and acting was top notch, and we learned a lot about Buffalo Bill, Wild Bill Hickock, and friends. Their history is amazing! Thanks for a great show!!
Shirley S — Google review
The Wild West Spectacular Show absolutely blew us away! From the moment the lights came up to the final bow, we were completely captivated. This isn’t just a show, it’s an experience that transports you straight into the heart of the Old West, complete with daring outlaws, sharp-shooting heroes, and incredible storytelling. The cast brought so much heart, humor, and energy to the stage, it was impossible not to smile. The choreography was on point, the live music was toe-tappin’ fantastic, and the costumes were so authentic they made you feel like you’d stepped into a time machine. The action scenes were thrilling, the comedic timing was perfect, and the entire production was polished to perfection. What truly makes this show stand out is how it blends history, entertainment, and family-friendly fun all in one unforgettable package. Whether you’re eight or eighty, there’s something for everyone to love. If you’re anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor, grab your cowboy hat and get to the Wild West Spectacular Show. You’ll laugh, cheer, and maybe even shed a tear. It’s a rootin’-tootin’ good time you’ll be talking about long after the curtain falls! 🤠🎭🔥

Nestled just a short stroll north of Sheridan Avenue, The Historic Cody Mural and Museum is a captivating destination located within the Church of Latter-Day Saints in downtown Cody. This stunning mural, crafted by Chicago artist Edward Grigware, intricately illustrates the early days of the church and its members' journey from the East to Utah. Grigware dedicated nearly a year to researching this rich history despite not being affiliated with the church himself.
A great place to learn some histories about Mormon and the pioneers. The hosts are very nice and gave us a great welcome and shared a lot of information. Thank you.

When I was told to visit a church meeting house let it was a tourist attraction, well I was pretty confused. This is a very cool, unique thing. while still serving as a meeting house for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, this building has a unique and amazing history. go check it out. The at work and story are great. The kids got their own tour (with permission) they learned all the thing kids would love to learn and then got to play some games, while the adults had enough time to dive a little deeper into the history of it all. Free, no tickets needed. All are welcome, people of any or no faith.

Gem of a spot. We were greeted by a lovely couple who showed us the mural, which includes a brief and well done automated presentation, the museum which presents a fine historical overview of the region, and a quick introduction to the genealogy archives collected by the church. Stu S — Google review
As a mother who regularly visits my daughter in Cody from North Carolina, I’ve always enjoyed discovering new gear and learning about this unique and unfamiliar region through Sunlight Sports. On a recent trip, I was given a copy of Sunlit Trails, the trail guide written by the store’s owner and sold at Sunlight. I couldn’t imagine a better resource for exploring the area. What stood out to me immediately was the introduction—it’s packed with local knowledge that you simply can’t get from a generic guidebook. The safety tips alone could be the difference between an unforgettable adventure and a serious mishap. I can’t stress this enough: read the introduction—it’s essential, especially for someone like me, an outdoorswoman from the East Coast, who isn't used to the unique challenges of this terrain. I also appreciated how the book outlines trail difficulty, whether or not it is dog friendly, estimated time to complete each hike, and the best seasons to attempt them. Since I visit Cody at different times of the year, this information is incredibly useful. Even my daughter, who has lived here for 12 years, plans to buy her own copy because it’s so well-organized and easy to understand. Sunlit Trails will be my go-to guide whenever I hike in the area. I especially love the checklist at the back—it’s a fun and practical way to track my hiking adventures!

Thank you for a great time Sunlight Sports!

With performances running from early June to late September at 6:30 pm, it offers a great way to spend an evening after dinner in town.

The main reason we came as far east as Cody after visiting Yellwstone was to see Dan Miller's Cowboy Music Review. It's a wholesome, family-friendly hour of entertainment that will leave you pining for more. The whole group obviously loves sharing their love of music, and their enthusiasm is infectious.

Took grandson to the dinner/music show, he said it was the "Best". Dan, Wendy, and Hannah put on a marvelous show. Great musicians and just wonderful singers, we were well entertained. The trio are so talented and personable. The hour show went by too quickly. We wish they would come to the " U. P ". Am so looking forward to seeing this trio again, they sing in variety of styles, and music which would please anyone. Would like to give them a 10. They have a new theater just a few doors down from the Irma Hotel, great location and theater was very comfortable. Liked the closeness to stage/singers, they made you feel right at home.

Husband Warren and I saw the last show of the season in 2013. We loved every minute of it. Accomplished musicians, great music, wonderful voices and good old fashioned humor and stories. If we ever get to Cody again we will be getting tickets for the dinner and show. Keep up the great work!

We took the dining package & show for a lovely evening in Cody Wyoming. Started the evening dining at the Irma Hotel, and then slipped up the block to gain some great seating for the show. My recommendation is to arrive before the posted open doors for the best view. Posting a picture of Wendy, who you'll talk with to secure your reservations. The music had variety and Dan will help you reminisce about music history, especially songs of the West. Above all, my wife enjoyed it, and considered it as a great date night. Don't miss this opportunity.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Dan was funny, entertaining, and personable. His daughter Hannah had a wonderful voice and man, could she play the fiddle! The other lady had a beautiful voice and was quite funny as well. We loved the songs they sang. Would do it again!

The tickets/meal are pricey and the food was OK. Performance was great, except it was clearly geared to retirees and older folks. The greeter/ticket taker warned us about not letting our kids fuss or cry. There was only 1 other child with her grandparents besides ours. If you are looking for a cowboy/western show for your family, this would not be the one to see. It just was not kid-friendly enough or entertaining to them.

Amazing time with Dave! Did the cabin crawl trail! The trail was just 20-30 minutes away from Cody and it was amazing! Going through the open meadows and seeing the wild flowers was amazing. Trails here are not well marked as other trails I’ve been (no color codes) so I highly recommend going with someone who knows the area.
