I visited here once when it was inaugurated. It was a beautiful ecosystem for marine life. Fish were lively with a lot of corals. Now due to lack of maintenance/ negligence it’s completely in shabby. Most of the tanks have dead fishes. Almost all corals are dead. Most fishes are in very bad shape. It’s heart breaking. Has place to park the car on the road. Vizhinjam port and light house is also nearby.

I honestly don’t know what to comment. I was truly disappointed after visiting the famous Vizhinjam Aquarium, a place I had longed to see since childhood. Today’s visit felt like a mistake—I wish I had postponed it and kept the beautiful image alive in my heart. Sadly, the aquarium has fallen below even the standards of Neyyar Aquarium. Please, do something—just a little effort could make it so much better.

This place is very fabulous with a wide variety of marine species which we saw many types for the first time including the sea turtle and other different fishes.place is easy to locate and just 50 something for the ticket I think and the place is totally worth for marine and fish lovers

I visited the aquarium on a Sunday and still it was not that frowned. There weren't many fishes on display but it was good count altogether. My 2 year old daughter enjoyed it and so it was worth it. :-)

Popular for their seafood speciality in Kovalam. The restaurant is housed under Taj Resort and is open to both residents & non-residents. Perched between the sea and the lagoon, it offers a fabulous view and ambience of dining by the sea. There is a private beach access from the restaurant too, but it's usually advised not to venture in as the tide can be strong. The food is delicious, we ordered grilled sea crabs in a traditional kerala style preparation. The service was a bit slow but the overall experience is worth the while. Prior reservation recommended.

Bait is hands down one of the best beachside dining experiences in Trivandrum. We ordered the Seafood Sampler, Lamb Pepperoni Pizza, and Classic Crème Brûlée—and every single dish was superb. The seafood was incredibly fresh and full of flavor, the Lamb Pepperoni Pizza had a delicious twist that made it stand out, and the Crème Brûlée was the perfect, indulgent finish to the meal. As the other reviews say… a tranquil evening spent while watching the sunset and enjoying the sound of waves splashing among the well maintained lawns. The service was top notch, a special thanks to Mr Jyoti and Mr Suman for making sure we were well taken care of. Food was scrumptious, we are vegetarians and although it says famous for sea food… we had more than plenty of options to choose from and worth the price. Last but not the least- shout out to their celebratory chocolate cake- we had to eat inspite of being full. Amazing

Beautiful! Scenic! Brilliant food! We had a wholesome experience at this seafood restaurant of the Taj Kovalam which is very picturesque and calming. On arrival through the narrow lanes overlooking the backwater’s, You are greeted by the wonderful team, Mr. Clifton was very kind and made sure we were seated comfortably, he went out of the way to serve us the most delectable food and even surprised us with a personalised birthday cake. Love the place, food and service. Brilliant!

The location is amazing, and the service, but being a keralite, i must say the food is dissatisfying, you get much better sea food elsewhere. I will not recommend this place for those looking for a dine out. 3000+ per person is purely unjustified, except for the location. Also they serve only beer and whine, they bluffed us claiming they serve ‘drinks’ while booking the table.

Great spot for coffee and work/read with a view. The food is a hit or miss depends on the COOK! Small dishes for the price, but the problem is not the price, it is the service and kitchen! I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese. I repeated many times and with hand gestures to have the cheese IN the eggs. You don’t need me to end the story… you get it. The rest of our food came out wrong or overcooked. I just try not to send food back in kitchens I don’t know. We voiced our issues to the server who brought the manager. We asked for a salad (how wrong can you go with a salad) that is in the launch menu and were told that the cook don’t know how to make it as he is the morning cook (10:30am) and launch is at 11am. I will come back for coffee and work on the computer with a view. You won’t see me eating here. Go to German Bakery, Prawns Nest or Banana Leaf. Better service and quality food.

The food is still amazing here with choices from the East, the West .. and Fusion. The view is nice on the beach and it’s a bit more chilled air than right at the beach. Compared to six years ago the service sucks. There is just one, nice waitress working there. The rest are grim looking men with belly and beard not being welcoming at all.

One of the loveliest restaurants on Kovalam Beach. The view is splendid especially for Sunset. The Budda bowl is absolutely delicious. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant. The prices are reasonable, and the restaurant offers traditional, fusion, and some western dishes as well. It’s my favourite restaurant on the beachfront.

We were a group of 13 ladies staying at this hotel for to weeks. Doing yoga on the roof terrace every morning. The staff were very friendly, helpful, service oriented and always had a smile on their face😊 We had a great waiter: Àjiťh Kàbådďi, he was there for us from breakfast to dinner. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with the best view to the beach. I really enjoyed staying there.

Visit for the view, not the food. Ordered some sandwiches - veg & non veg. The breads for both these sandwiches were hard as brick. I kid you not, but those were harder than rusk. Literally had to eat the filling and leave the rest. Banana split was ok. Nothing special. Great view, good service.

I don't recommend the beef. I got food poisoning from a burger I ate there 2 weeks ago. That was my second visit since the first time I had butter chicken and that was delicious. The burger was also overpriced for the very small size. It was in between the size of an appetizer slider and regular burger. The menu said it comes with fries. They served 4 small potato wedges. Service is slow. There are young servers who barely speak English. One young boy who works there is shy and doesn't come by to check on you. I really like the restaurants layout and decor. The vibe is good. The food and service needs improvement. If it wasnt for the butter chicken I would've given 2 stars overall.

We were here a good time, the ambience is good and peaceful, beer is bad and and we have ordered a chicken fried rice that was also bad. I expected a little more food quality here. From the outside, it looks inviting—the whole café is designed with wooden interiors, giving it a rustic feel, and the seating arrangement is comfortable enough to sit back, relax, and enjoy the sea breeze. On ambience and location, the café scores well. Now, coming to the food—this is where things fell apart for me. We were two people, and we ordered: • Margherita Pizza (₹600) – Honestly, a big disappointment. The flavor was flat, the texture was off, and it didn’t taste like something worth even ₹200. If I had to rate it, it would be a minus one out of five. • Vegetable Sandwich (₹300) – Decent, I’d give it a three out of five. The sandwich itself was average, but the potato wedges served alongside were actually the star of the meal—crispy, seasoned well, and easily a five on five. The major downside? The pricing. We ended up paying around ₹1,100 for just these two items and left neither full nor satisfied. For that cost, the food should’ve been far more flavorful and substantial. What I did like, though, was the service. The staff were polite, attentive, and kept checking if we needed anything else. This restaurant is located on first floor on Light house beach Road. They have a vast range of menu items, that's why we chose it. The vegetarian food was not great but it was not too bad either. They have books placed right at the entrance to pick and read while eating. The restaurant is open with ocean breeze and fans helping you cool down after your walk. We stopped here for dinner. I liked the tandoori butter roti. The sea food was a bit better than the vegetarian items.

Really nice cafe on the first floor with a sea view, away from the hussle and sellers whilst eating, great friendly staff, food all fresh and over 2 days we had various food from sandwiches to fries to pizza to rice to vegetables all very nice, we also recommend the filter coffee the best I've had since being in South India. Ideal for brunch. You’d come to this cafe specifically for European and American style specialties, including real brewed coffee, fresh juices, proper salads, and their famous rosti which is like a plate-size latke. I recommend all of these particularly the delicious Energizer juice which I had as a variation with carrot, ginger, and parsley. It’s second storey with a great view of the beach. The staff were very nice and super helpful at accommodating my restricted diet - and when I returned they remembered all the things I couldn’t eat. There’s free wifi and you can sit watch the waves and chill….

Right on the light house beach, kovalam, this is a pretty nice set up. Great ambience nice view of the sea, ocean breeze, friendly staff..in short a great place to hangout. But the food is not up to the mark. Its not that it tastes bad or something, but for the price its not worth. If they could just improve the food it would be one the best places to hangout at the beach.

Had dinner at Tides and was amazing. The food was delicious and being out on the beach with the breeze was spectacular. It’s a must go if you’re in the area!

Went there with colleagues for company get together and dinner with our CEO. It was a very beautiful place and nice atmosphere and experience. Very calm. But I won't say the food was exceptional. It wasn't that kind of a 5 star experience. Just some fine dining experience. But still I liked it.

Beautiful setting at the sea shore with private beach . The staff was friendly though the cost of food and beverage is on the higher side is a place to visit . We enjoyed the view and the bite . The beer was chilled and awesome but the experience was impacted as the quality of wine was awful. Sediments in the bottle and after the staff saw that they gave us a bad wine to charge us for it was not acceptable so I would say that was disappointing. To all wine drinkers avoid this restaurant rather have a beer .

Waste of time. Discrimination towards bikers. Traveled from trivandrum to this restaurant. I went to dine in my bike and they told bikes are not allowed. Told us to park the bikes outside. Only cars are allowed inside. Very sad and disheartening. I have to pay so much for the food but they don't allow my bike to be parked.

So thankful that Sali stopped us on the small road and asked if we wanted to have lunch at their place. We decided to come with him. Happy for us! Amazing food, service and view. The calamari’s is the best I ever had. So tonight we had to go back for dinner. We had grilled fish and it was so good! Fresh and tasty. I could really recommend this place. Mr. Sali from Curry leaf is very helpful and friendly. He suggested some great dishes and the food taste and quality is excellent. Prawns, lobster and variety of fresh fish is available here. We visited twice during our stay and enjoyed the yummy food with a great view. A must visit when in Kovalam!

We were also pleased Sali stopped us as we walked close to the beach. We returned in the evening to his small family restaurant for dinner. Enjoyed a lovely fish meal. Overlooking the sea. Sali is a great enthusiastic host.

The vibes and views are something out of a movie and the kindness of the staff is overwhelming! Not a place to miss if your in Kovalam, run don’t walk, get to curry leaf for that sunset.

I recently visited this place, and while the view was stunning, the service left much to be desired. It was evident that the staff prioritized foreigners over locals, which was disappointing and discriminatory. The waiter attending to us didn’t take our order properly. I ordered pasta and cold coffee, but even after we finished the pasta, there was no sign of the coffee. When we enquired, we realized the waiter had either forgotten or ignored the order. The pasta sauce was excellent, probably the highlight of the meal, even though the pasta itself wasn’t remarkable. However, the cold coffee was extremely bitter and unpleasant. Overall, the location and view are fantastic, but the service and attention to detail need serious improvement.

One of the worst food I ever had. Zero flavour profile! Drinks, main dish sandwich all were underwhelming and a big let down. The view is really good and coffee is decent and the service is on time and fast but the main item aka the food is horrible. Avoid the place if you love your taste buds because the dishes and drinks are picturesque but not palatable.

Peaceful Seaside Retreat! German Bakery on Lighthouse Beach Road offers a truly serene experience. It's the perfect spot to enjoy some food, coffee or a beer while soaking in the tranquil sea views. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, with no loud distractions – just the soothing sounds of the waves and the gentle sea breeze. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the calm ambiance by the ocean.

Breakfast with a view! Visited German Bakery in Kovalam — the location is stunning, overlooking the lighthouse and the beach. Tried the waffle and egg sandwich; both were decent, but nothing extraordinary. Cold coffee didn’t impress. Overall vibe is great for mornings, but the food was average. Rating: 3/5.

The sunset view is awesome. Too costly, especially given the food isn't great. Hated the farmer's breakfast - felt too much like an Indian dish. The French toast was the worst I have had. Fish fingers was okay.

A Proper Breakfast spot in Kovalam Beach. it serves American Bf, Spanish Bf, German Bf, Seafood Bf and other varieties. Very beautiful view of Arabean Sea. Ambience is neat and clean. their cakes are must try. They have a vast menu offering wide varieties of cusines and recipies. A must try place for foodies. they also serve beer and has a smoking area. They serve food freshly prepared and served hot. Rates are on a higher side but the quality is really appreciated. Must visit Cafe.

I liked the food here very much. Their items are very good and unique. I ate chicken. I ate cumin rice and mushroom soup. I could not take a photo of the plate but its view and the food are very good. The price is a little high. Usually wherever you go in Kovalam, the price is a little high because it is on the witch side. That is why the food is very good. The service is also very good. The view of the beach is also good. If it was a little pocket friendly, it would have been very great.

Malabar Café has become one of my favourite places in the Lighthouse Beach area. It is small and cosy with a fine view of the beach. Also, there's a nice breeze from the ocean that feels comfortable in the hot daytime sunshine. The food is good, and the service normally comes with positive attention and smiles. After a few visits, especially Shaji remembers your favourites of dishes and drinks.

Had lunch and dinner both in this beach side restaurant. Had Dal Fry,Chicken Masala and Kadai Fish and Steamed Rice in lunch and fish curry and dry chilli chicken and butter naan in dinner. Every dish was delicious. Among them Kadai Fish was the star item which was served in a sizzling kadai. Only Butter Naan was not upto the mark. Staffs are well behaved. They accept cash,card and GPay.

This place is the most crowded and happening restaurant in Kovalam Beach. Most of the tables will be occupied by foreigners however I haven't observed any preferences given towards them. So I can propose that this restaurant is equally good for foreigners and Indian citizens as well. Sea foods are the most sorted out dishes in the menu, you can try some of the dishes with prawns which was excellent. Even their breakfast menu seems to be ok. Being Indian I wanted some extra spices in all my food I ordered and the staffs where happy to understand my taste and serve me well. During my stay at Kollam I had visited this restaurant 5 to 6 times and never had any unsatisfying experience. Hence I would suggest that if you are planning to visit Kovalam please try to visit this restaurant once and share your experience.

Such a lovely experience behind the main street of the beach. Food is truly amazing with Kerala Specialities And the man who took care of us is simply a sweet heart.

In my opinion, it’s the best veg restaurant in Kovalam close to the beach, a bit hidden but easy to find. Once we came there, we’d have brunch and dinner there daily. Huge menu, reasonable prices, delicious NOT spicy food, fast service and very nice stuff. Portions are quite big (for a woman), therefore you can ask to have half of the portion. Absolutely recommend it!

The best restaurant in Kovalam! You must to go without exception! Unni is the guy will attend you and serving all of people! That's maybe the problem about 19pm that restaurant is always full and you can wait for your meal 1 or 1.30 hours. That's not problem of this kind guy but also the manager of this restaurant. You should try the fruit plate for starting your day, the kerala coffee (really good) and every vegetable meal with kerala parotha! Each veggie meal can be about 150-180-200 rps. I came that place every day in my stage in Kovalam ! Thank you for make happier my belly and my digestion!😀

It is my favorite restaurant in Kovalam: calm ,next to the ancient temple with a very friendly staff and delicious fresh food. I returned there nearly every day during my stay in Kovalam, for breakfast, lunch, diner. All was fresh, cooked on demand and tasty. I loved all the curries, dal, butter masala paneer, all types of veggies in different sauces. Indian breakfasts, including masala dosa and iddly are delicious. If you have a chance to have thali for lunch, don’t hesitate, it is a pleasure for your eyes and stomach! Kerala coffee is worth trying, it reminded me Turkish coffee, tasty! I appreciated everything: service, fresh ingredients, delicious food, very attentive personnel. Thank you 😊

Not easy to find this restaurant. There are only 2 vegan restaurants options on light house beach. This is one among them. So if you are vegan then you will thank God to find this place. The ambience is average, open space restaurant ranging from Indian, Asian to continental option. I found the response from the staff bit dull, when went for lunch it was just empty. So I was expecting they had all time and resource to provide service. The paneer pakoda was only good. We ordered potato gobi carry and mushroom masala. The taste was not good, even though one was ordered less spicy and another moderate. The French fries were not at all good, not boiled and cooked properly. The shapes were too big for it to cook we felt. I dropped my plan of trying something continental here later.

I had an incredible experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely superb, and the staff were incredibly nice and honest. Chef is very helpful in preparing food based on our customisation as well. I highly recommend this place for vegetarians as they have excellent options. It's a popular spot among foreigners too. You can find it on a small road between Silverstar Hotel and Light House Beach in Kovalam. Enjoy your visit!

Suprabhatham is an organic veg restaurant located in the end of one of the alleys opposite Kovalam beach. The restaurant is a little tricky to find if you don't find the correct alley. The afternoon we dined we had the whole place to ourselves which resulted in good service. We ordered Fried rice and Pakodas which are made to order and tasted quite good. The menu is pretty versatile catering to both the Indian and foreign crowds that throng the beach. Accepting cards or wallets in addition to cash could bring in more crowd. Dined in : Oct 2019

The staff is very welcoming especially Shiva! They have a nice pond view with tasty rich food with lots of options. Service is fast and juices are fresh. Internet is super fast and you can work here with your laptop like you were in Starbucks. Many tourists and digital nomads visit this place. They have ceiling fans as well. It's also very cozy when it's raining like in my video! There are also so many fish in the pond they feed

We have a mixed feelings about this place. The restaurant is beautifully settled near the small pond and has the peaceful vibes. However, the food was below our expectations. Our usual order was Malai Kofta, dhal and plain basmati rice. Plus naan and chapati. Nothing special, just the average food. I would say that the prices are a little big higher than in the similar restaurants.

I visited this restaurant with my parents and we had ordered a wheat parrotta with their special kadai and bhindi masala for dinner. The food was quite tasty, freshly prepared & served hot & quick. Definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a pure veg restaurant. *A special mention* What really made the experience special was Shiva's kindness. We found the restaurant through a local route that was scary for us as it was dark.... We were worried about making it back safely and Shiva kindly offered to accompany us !! He made sure we reached our car safely even though it wasn't really needed. We truly appreciate his gesture & thank him for the memorable experience. P.s. - I recommend accessing this hotel from Kovalam Beach.

Lonely Planet....the only pure vegetarian restaurant available in Kovalam beach area. Tricky to find this place as it is located a bit interior part from the main beach area. You can ask locals to find out this place. Tried their tomato rice which was below average. Their idli was on point along with their masala Tea. Veg cheese sandwich was quite decent. Service at this restaurant was quite slow even the place was hardly occupied with a couple of tables. Overall and average place to have vegetarian options at kovalam beach.

I would like to start saying that the food is awesome. It is around 100 mtrs from the beach , you don't get a beach view while having food, but what one gets is good food. The food is reasonably priced and the menu is also quite big. The service could be improved, it is slightly on a slower end.

One of the best restaurant in Kovalam: •A Vegetarian's delight. •Situated next to a pond with lotus, fishes and turtles in it. If you are lucky you may catch glimpse of a baby turtle. •calming ambiance. •good management. Highly recommend.

The terminal is compact, and there are very limited food or shopping options, especially compared to newer or larger airports like Bengaluru T2. Don’t expect fancy interiors or breathtaking views here — it’s simple and functional, best suited for quick travel. Overall, it's okay for a short and quick journey, but definitely lacks the wow factor you get at more modern airports.

Trivandrum Airport is one of the busiest airports in Kerala, impressively well-maintained and clean.
