Bodies of Water
Yeojwacheon River is a stunning tourist attraction, adorned with cherry blossom trees that bloom seasonally. The river banks are embellished with art pieces and street food vendors, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll. The entire city is awash with the beauty of these cherry blossoms, creating a romantic ambiance in the air. Despite its popularity amongst tourists, the weekend can be quite busy.
Visited 2 April 2025. Just as beautiful as when I visited the first time in 2019. Lovely long stream with cherry blossoms canopy and decorations. This time, we had time to eat from the stalls set up for the festival.

At around 3pm on 25 March, 2025, our party of 12 people came. We didn’t see any cherry blossoms. What we saw was one of our members helping an elderly with her cart crossing a bridge where we posed for a group photo, it was so heartwarming.

Absolutely worth visiting in Jinhae at any time during the cherry blossom season (and quite honestly there’s no much in the area for food, cafes and bars/karaoke at any time of the year). We decided to stay in Jinhae to have more flexibility and peace about visiting the stream and the whole suburb is covered in cherry blossom trees! There were more people around during the day on tours, but the lights reflect off the flowers and stream’s water at night, so really night is a completely new experience alongside the street food and stalls. It’s day 1 of the festival today and we will be back for the flowers in full blossom one day. We loved it here!

I visited during the cherry blossom festival this year with a tour group and I would highly recommend the tour for this because I primarily travel with the the subway and this allowed me to take their bus to this location and back to Busan. It was also a good mix of guided / planned time and wandering around to investigate whatever peaked my interest. I travel solo and the rest of the tour group provided social interaction for a day which I enjoyed. I booked it on the Klook site and the name of it was "Jinhae Pink Cherry Blossom Festival Tour from SEOUL / BUSAN". There was plenty to do at this destination, snacks, photo ops, drinks, and local restaurants.

The Most Beautiful Place on Earth – Yeojwacheon Cherry Blossom Festival in Jinhae I had the absolute privilege of visiting Yeojwacheon during Jinhae’s cherry blossom season, and I can say without exaggeration—it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The entire stream was lined with endless rows of cherry blossoms, their petals dancing in the breeze like pink snow. The sight was breathtaking, something out of a dream or a movie scene. It’s no wonder people from all over the world found their way here. What amazed me the most was not just the scenery, but how international the atmosphere felt. I overheard languages from all over—English, Chinese, Japanese, French. It made me wonder: how did people from so many different countries hear about this hidden gem in Korea? It’s a testament to just how globally beloved the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival has become. The crowds were large, yet everyone seemed to be in a peaceful and joyful mood, taking in the natural beauty with wide eyes and camera phones constantly snapping. What’s even more remarkable is that it wasn’t just Yeojwacheon that was celebrating—the entire district of Jinhae felt like a massive, vibrant festival. Every street was decorated, food stalls were everywhere, local music filled the air, and people wore smiles that reflected the joy of spring. It felt like the whole city had come alive to celebrate the arrival of cherry blossoms. I’ve traveled to many places, but Jinhae during cherry blossom season is something else entirely. It’s not just a place to take pretty photos—it’s a place to feel wonder, to share beauty with strangers, and to be reminded of how magical nature can be. I can’t recommend it enough. If you ever get the chance, this is an experience you don’t want to miss.
Junghoon Y — Google review
Worth the travel and anticipation, everything was truly magical! 🌸🌸🌸 The Cherry Blossom Festival was an enchanting experience that beautifully captured the essence of spring. The trees were in full bloom, creating a breathtaking canopy of pink and white petals that seemed to stretch endlessly across the park. The atmosphere was vibrant yet peaceful,l everyone was coming together to celebrate the fleeting beauty of the blossoms. The sense of both locals and tourists were astounding. Everyone was in high spirits, sharing smiles and conversations with strangers, all united by the beauty of the blossoms. The festival did get quite crowded, especially in the afternoon, making it difficult to find a good spot for viewing the trees or participating in some of the activities. Arriving early is definitely recommended to fully enjoy the experience.

To anyone looking for a place to enjoy, relax and feel the spring vibe (especially for people living in a tropical country like me where there is only hot, hotter, and hottest type of weather), this river is the right one for you. We went there during the full bloom season of cherry blossoms and my experience is priceless. It was raining in the evening upon our arrival but it only added to the mood that I was feeling - excited. The river is a long one so make sure to see all the stops there and the food stalls around it sells tasty and affordable korean dishes. There are various coffee shops available too for any coffee lover out there so you won't have to worry about that. Make sure to come and visit this river of you happen to be in Jinhae and let me know what you felt.

Amazing! I still can't believe that I almost watch all the dramas that they shoot here. Visit here in Fall or summer. It's so cold in Winter coz it's near ocean.

Free entry. The most of the site was closed and undergoing a facelift. It is located very far out from Busan, in Changwon, so bus only. However, it is a very beautiful location with nice views. It is close to the water, had areas for picnics, taking photos and taking strolls along the coast. The restrooms weren’t fully equipped (I usually carry my own toiletries so I was ok).

Good place to visit even if it's in cold weather.

I’ve visited several drama sets over my many trips to Korea and this one is definitely one of the nicest ones I’ve visited. It’s a decent size and many of the buildings allow visitors to enter them unlike some of the other sets I’ve visited. Definitely worth the visit!

Jinhae Marine Park in GyeongNam Province is striving to become a prominent landmark with its impressive 120m tall solar tower. This marine park aims to be a hub for water sports, particularly yacht activities. A major highlight is the newly opened ZipTrack, a vast 1.4km long course that offers excitement and entertainment to visitors. To fully experience the enjoyment of others, one can visit the ZipTrack website for tickets.
To fully enjoy the entire place, you should plan to spend at least half a day, if not the whole day. Make sure to arrive before 5 PM, as the last tickets are issued then and the counter closes afterward. Please note that the site is closed every Monday, so plan your visit accordingly. And whatever you do, don’t miss the zip trek—it’s a must-try experience!
Sakthivel G — Google review
Jinhae Marine Park is another good leisure option here in South Korea. Located a few kilometers from Busan, this place has a marine museum, a destroyer museum, a large aquarium, and two large observation towers. One of them is a restaurant and to enjoy the view from the top, you need to reserve a table in advance. The other, larger one, we were unable to visit as it was closed to visitors, which was a great frustration, as this tower is the biggest attraction of the place. Parking is private and there is a small fee for visiting. The island has stunning views and I recommend coming in the afternoon to enjoy the Korean sunset.
Rafael T — Google review
Has good view and fresh air. Walking here is best. U can do fishing and camping here too.
Janelie I — Google review
120m high solar tower reflect GyeongNam Province's policy to make this place as a landmark of Marine Park. This marine park will be developed for water sports such as yacht. ZipTrack, 1.4km long, is opened and welcomes visitors. Keep in mind to visit ZipTrack website to ticket unless you have to see other people enjoying. SharkBoat is waiting for you to get you back. I expect ChangWon to make this place hot since JinHae does not have something good to see.

Chloe C — Google review
Yeah, I'm not particularly impressed. Colorful. but devoid of people and energy alleyways with a few nice looking galleries at one end. At 6:30 pm on a Tuesday evening, they were all closed. I wouldn't make any special effort getting here, but if you are already, you might as well take a look.

The Gyeongnam Art Museum is a venue that displays Korean artwork. It features pieces from local and talented artists, showcasing their creative expressions. Adjacent to the museum lies a fish pond, a play park for children, restrooms, and car parking facilities. Moreover, the museum offers wheelchair accessibility. Exhibits at this museum typically last between three to six months, providing ample time for visitors to appreciate the diverse range of art on display.
Two great exhibitions. Only KOR1,000 entry! Good space, well presented, fun things for kids. The ground floor coffee shop is not only excellent but bargain and top quality coffee. The whole experience is highly recommended. I’m amazed it’s is not on the common “top 10 things to do in Changwon” lists!

In the Art museum one can see art of Korean. And also in front of the art museum there is a fish pond, a play park for childern, restrooms and car parking. Also wheelchair is accessible there.
Salman R — Google review
Simple yet chic architectural design in its own way. Holds interesting exhibits throughout the year that are accessible on all of the museum's floors. Some exhibitions are free to view and it's well worth the time to go check it out with a group or solo. Located near Changwon's National university and in a very pleasant and fresh mountain air area. Hands down would go again... And again.
Elynn B — Google review
I thought they have a permanent exhibition and an "always changing" one too. But the whole museum was all about a permanent exhibition. Modern art, with videos, pictures. I just recommend if you like this "performance" art. There wasn't too many object, so I feel this big gallery so empty. The small park id so nice around the building.
Orsi B — Google review
Cheap admission (₩1000) and always has interesting art pieces. Also don't miss the outdoor sculptures around it. There's also a nice small park/garden with trees and benches behind the building.

The view is beautiful from here. But to be honest this type of art is not for me. It's too modern and abstract (it's just my opinion). So if you don't like this, you should visit this museum.

It is not very big but you can enjoy the art at your leisure. There is a great view from there. Staff are friendly and helpful. Guide book comes in different languages. There are a mix of paintings and sculptures. The museum is also close to his home and museum. It was interesting to see how his art developed as he had different experiences, such as from his time living in Paris.

(Translated by Google) Let me start with something embarrassing. After visiting the Masan Museum, I was going down to Odong-dong, and on the road right next to the museum, I saw a sign indicating the ‘Mushin Art Museum’ and a thought occurred to me. ah! Was there a museum with body tattoos in our country? Out of curiosity, I stopped by the tattoo museum. Admission fee: 500 won (as of 2023) However, to my shame, I realized that he was the person who created the semicircular sculpture at the 1988 Olympics Memorial Park, and that it was a sacred place where the world of work of a great man who lived and worked consistently throughout his life was completely contained. I even felt a sense of shame, wondering why I didn't know the tattoo artist for all this time. Moon Mun was born to a Korean father and Japanese mother from Masan, Gyeongsangnam-do during the Japanese colonial period. After going through all kinds of hardships, I learned that he was a true Korean who held Masan, where he grew up, in his heart, sang about nature, and brought up the deep spirit of harmony in human life. He came to Masan with his father at the age of five and spent his childhood under the care of his grandmother. At the age of 16, he smuggled himself to Japan and enrolled in the Department of Western Painting at the Japanese Art School. After liberation, he returned to Korea and actively worked as a painter in Masan, Busan, and Seoul. In the late 1950s, he participated in the Modern Art Association and presented works with strong expressionistic elements and naturalism. Then, around the age of 40, he moved to France and published outstanding sculptures such as <Man of the Sun>, and distinguished himself as a sculptor for over 20 years. When he was in his sixties, he returned to Korea and began concretizing the construction of an art museum. He spent 14 years building the Moonshin Art Museum, which had been his lifelong dream. This can be seen as the tattoo itself, a combination of the artist's life-long view of life and art. And around the 1940s, while he was studying abroad in Japan, Moon Seon worked as a shimonoseki, a shoe shiner between Tokyo and Hiroshima, a dye factory worker, an obstetrics and gynecology assistant, putting up posters, sewing corpses, a carpenter, a movie actor, a postal worker, and a hospital assistant. I paid for my tuition by doing this. He also sent the money he had saved to his father in his hometown and told him to buy land in Chusan-dong, which is now the Moonshin Art Museum. He did not get left out or become complacent in any situation and quietly did the work given to him. Separation from mother during childhood, Japanese colonial period, Korean War, life as a foreigner. Through this, you can feel the power to soar in his sculptures, which have overcome all adversity and created his own world of art.

Anmin Pass, which is full of fog, also provides beautiful scenery for a bike ride. Of course, when I'm having a hard time, I just take a car lol. View towards Jinhae... you can see the sea View in the direction of Changwon... city view haha Both have charm, though. The Jinhae direction, where you can see the sea, is slightly more atmospheric. As for the pictures in the direction of Jinhae, you should visit and see them in person. I went to see the Anmin Pass view without fear during the rainy season. I hope you enjoy the nice view haha It is also a good starting point for a hiking course on a day with good weather. Since you climb over the ridge, you can hike with less effort and enjoy the views from both Changwon and Jinhae haha. Anyway, it was a great day Enjoying the pleasant scenery. It was nice. From Anmin Pass, to the right is the direction of Jinhae Jangboksan Mountain. To the left, you can hike towards Sirubongbinghyang. The difficulty level of the hike is medium to medium. This was an unexpected find! Not too full and free, just be prepared for stairs stairs and more stairs! There is a great view of the city from the observation deck in the tower. There are also some nice trees and gardens around the tower, especially in cherry blossom time (early April). Up, up, up the stairs we go!

Went up early, around 10am. Small crowd but managed to grab the first paid tram up. Queue was at least 30x longer, spilling onto the streets, when we passed by around 4pm. View was spectacular, should take <1hr with the tram ride up. Its possible to walk up but only recommended for fitter people :)

O'Briens Irish Bar & Restaurant

$$$$affordable
Irish pub
Nestled in the heart of Changwon, O'Briens Irish Bar & Restaurant is a delightful spot that captures the essence of an authentic Irish pub. With a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, including Austin and Paul, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a long day. While their burgers may need a touch more moisture, they pair well with various sauces and are complemented by an enticing menu featuring paninis, fish and chips, burritos, and even fries served with ranch dressing.
A very cozy place to enjoy a few beers.....awesome people and employees and BEER!!!
Raul P — Google review
O'Brien's is a great little Irish bar in Changwon. The food is decent (the burgers are a little dry but with sauce they taste good), but the drinks are great! As an Irish person, the Guinness is overpriced, however, that's the norm in Korea, unfortunately. It tastes good though!

OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE - Changwon JungAng Branch

Steak house
Family restaurant
Outback Steakhouse Jungang is a lively Australian-themed restaurant that serves up hearty steakhouse fare, including steaks and seafood. The atmosphere is upbeat and inviting, with twinkling lights adding to the ambiance. The staff provides excellent service and even sings happy birthday songs for special occasions. If you sit by the window, you'll be treated to a view of the street below. The standout dish is their baby back ribs which come highly recommended.
Not your traditional USA Outback Steakhouse. This restaurant had some high end steak options. Prices were a bit higher than US restaurants. The food was delicious and the beer was cold. I will probably be back one more time during my visit.

We ordered pasta, salad and ribeye stake, the pasta was dry and the ribeye stake was tough. Salad was jus so so.

Extremely expensive. Steak portions available were very big so I had to order steak that was not my first choice. 70000 won for 150 gram steak a glass of red wine and the typical substandard korean steak

I had a hair in my shrimp pasta dish, slow service and very pricy. Menu is much smaller than in the USA. No blooming onion or burgers. Those around me who got ribs had better looking dish, if you go I would recommend that.

Bombay Indian Restaurant

$$$$affordable
Indian restaurant
If you're on the hunt for an authentic Indian dining experience, look no further than Bombay Indian Restaurant. Nestled in Changwon, this gem offers a delightful array of dishes that transport your taste buds straight to India and the Middle East. Diners rave about the generous portions and mouthwatering flavors that set it apart from other establishments. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for regulars.
Loved the food. The taste is comparatively more authentic than that of the other Indian restaurants around. The food volume is also not small. Definitely recommended for those wanting a taste of Indian cuisine.
Gloria A — Google review
This is not a place for anyone who is familiar with Indian food and knows that Indian food is all about flavor. If it weren't for the tender pieces of chicken, I'd be giving it 1 star. The garlic chicken tikka had tender pieces of chicken, cooked almost perfect, but absolutely no flavor of tikka masala or garlic. The biriyani was nothing more than basmati rice mixed with one of their chicken curries and was pretty bland.

Maharaja Indian Halal Restaurant

Indian restaurant
Asian fusion restaurant
Buffet restaurant
Maharaja Indian Halal Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem in Changwon, South Korea, offering an extensive menu that caters to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences. Renowned for its exceptional food quality, this restaurant has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. During my 15-day stay, I had the pleasure of interacting with the dedicated chefs, Mr. Rajpal and Gagdish, who consistently prepared fresh dishes with great care.
This was my first experience with Indian food in Korea. I highly recommend this restaurant! The taste was similar to high quality Indian food that I had eaten in the United States. Real Indians own and work in this restaurant and our dinner party included ethnically Indian friends who could vouch for the authenticity of this food. We tried many dishes including curry chicken, masala chicken, tiki masala chicken... the mango lassi was very delicious, the naan bread was also very good, and the after-dinner tea was very tasty too. The prices were extremely reasonable. The same meal would have cost two or three times as much in the United States. To give some perspective, we ate a lot of food, and each person only had to pay about 20 US dollars.

Great food. I had chicken tika masala, garlic cheesy naan bread ans rice. They provide peanuts. As you can see, the food was fresh, hot and delicious. I appreciate the staff being fluent in english since I didnt speak Korean. Plenty of tables and even some private tables. Is on the 3rd floor. (Took me some time to realize that) it was so good i went back a few days later.

Small but clean and well maintained. Parking is very close to the building and the airport is just off the main street. Very easy to get to. Prices at the convenience store were also not inflated, which is always nice. I didn't see any recycling bins, which is a shame.

It’s a small airport but has everything it’s supposed to have and most of all it’s located very close to the downtown area of the city, not to mention very well-connected.

Same as Korea neat n clean not so crowded. Didn't found much to buy or food cafe. Have limited flights.. People working around very humble and helpful.

The terminal area has very limited sitting spaces to deal with the waiting time before boarding. Especially at the airside (after security area), you may have to stand near the boarding area. Comparing to the expected passengers of two narrow body aircrafts, the airport has smaller number of chairs. Recommend to make it short time at airport.

Small airport in South Korea. Not crowded

Ulsan airport is small domestic airport. There are normally no waiting times at check in or security check. Inside the airport are some restaurants and a coffee shop. The airport is clean and everything is easy to find.

Gimhae International Airport

International airport
Airport
Visitor Centers
Gimhae International Airport, which has been serving the Basan area since 1976, provides a convenient travel experience for visitors. The airport offers a variety of dining options and direct rail service, making it easily accessible by light rail connection. Travelers can reach Sasang Station in under 10 minutes via the light rail, providing seamless access to the subway line and Inter-city Seobu Bus Station. Clear directions and signage within the airport ensure smooth navigation for visitors.
On 21 March, 2025, our party of eight arrived here direct from Hong Kong. On passport control, waiting time was reasonable, and there was no need to show the e-confirmation of preregistration of the person. Green customs channel was friendly. On 27 March, 2025, our party of six returned (two members left earlier). Before checking in, we first went to the loss and found to pick up a lost smartphone of one member who left earlier; then, we did the tax refund registration at an e-kiosk. After checking in and while passing through security clearance, two bags of kimchi couldn’t be carried on board and we surrendered them. After security clearance, we went to a tax refund counter to get cash refund (in won, yen or US$) and then used some of the refund to buy kimchi again at Lotte Duty Free. We’re content.

Pretty crazy that an international airport in a first world country, like South Korea is only open for set times. definitely a first for me, My spouse and others had to sleep or wait outside the airport with mosquitoes. Especially for tourist who have certain allocated checkout times. Seen better in 3rd world countries.

Please take note that the Gimhae International Airport is not open 24 hours a day. It is closed at 11.00pm and reopens at 4.30am everyday. Passengers cannot sleep at the airport to catch an early morning flight. The best option would be to sleep in a hotel in Sasang, a nearby town, and take the first LRT train at 5.00am to the airport. Checking in and going through the security screening is smooth and efficiently done here.

I was genuinely surprised and disappointed by the experience at Busan’s Gimhae International Airport. The lines were extremely long and moved painfully slowly — from check-in to security to immigration. The entire process felt disorganized and inefficient, and it took far longer than it should have. For a country as developed and technologically advanced as South Korea, this level of service is far below expectations. There was little communication or guidance, and the lack of staff only made things worse. Travelers were visibly stressed and confused, and there didn’t seem to be any urgency to improve the flow. I sincerely suggest the airport authorities look to countries like Singapore as a benchmark. Despite handling a much larger volume of passengers, Singapore’s Changi Airport operates with such speed and efficiency that you almost never have to wait in line. It’s a world-class example that Gimhae Airport could learn a lot from. Busan deserves a better international gateway, one that truly reflects the modernity and efficiency South Korea is known for.

This is a far below normal standard airport. Upon arrival of three flights in the morning, there is only one single immigration counter open for foreign passports. Korean passports using the e-gates still enjoy another three manual counters for pretty much no crowd. End up waiting 1.5 hours for 30 pay ahead of me to be cleared. Plus point though, the airport is clean.

Relatively small airport with one large duty free shop. There are several lounges, and it is clean. The gates are easy to find and there are lots of seats. One negative thing is that the security line requirements are a bit misleading. They told us we need to hand carry our battery packs, but they didn’t check that at security. Not sure what we were supposed to do, but it was fine.

Sure it might not be open 24hrs like almost every ither airport, but you know what? You can buy booze and food at street prices past the immigration terminal, and that's a massive win in my books. Probably my favourite airport.

Arrival custom, absolutely chaos. No clear direction where to queue, everyone just squeeze each other and hope for best. All the officer sit there and do nothing to direct the chaos. Queuing for 2 or 3 or 4 hours is frustrating, but how about if visitor don't even know where the queue start?? So much for international airport in developed country, awesome.
