The House of Raminten

Mentioned on

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
The House of Raminten is a vibrant restaurant that offers classic Javanese cuisine in a vintage setting with traditional decor. The establishment is named after the soap opera character, Raminten, which the owner used to portray. Upon entering, guests are greeted with an eclectic display of pictures and caricatures of Raminten adorning the walls, creating a whimsical atmosphere.
"This restaurant is a culinary adventure, where every detail is designed to create an unforgettable dining experience. Replica horse-drawn carriages inspired by the Jogja Palace and real stables in the back create an authentic and magical atmosphere. Raminten statues and flowers adorn every corner add to the exotic feel. But the most stunning is the placement of a large bathtub/jacuzzi in the middle of the dining room, which creates an interesting contrast and makes you feel like you are in a dream. The taste of the food is equally amazing, with a delicious and innovative blend of traditional and modern. If you are ready to experience something different and unique, this restaurant is the right choice – make sure you bring cash to enjoy the experience to the fullest!"

Super hot restaurant with lots of heritage stuffs, such as pictures, carriage and so on. The foods they serve is yummy and taste with Indonesian flavor. The cost performance ratio is really high since the portion is really big. However, since there are too many customers all the time, be patient with your orders since it takes around half an hour based on my visit this time. The staffs are really professional to serve you all the time; however it is still traditional in payment by cash only. Not credit, debit or online transfer here. To sum up, a wonderful restaurant to revisit again. Enjoy.
Abbott H — Google review
Recommended for international and local tourist. The atmosphere is rich with Javanese culture, the traditional décor and music to the staff’s attire. The menu offers a wide variety of local dishes at very affordable prices, all served in a cozy, dimly lit setting that feels both quirky and authentic. It can get quite crowded, especially at night, but the experience is worth the wait. Perfect place to enjoy good food, culture, and vibes in one spot.
Okys — Google review
Various choices with lovely price Very local and affordable The only thing that might worthwhile to mention is that you need to endure the smoking sitting in the smoking area or you have to floor seating with you shoes off

Visited this place back in 2018. Just got a chance to post this and share our experience back then. What we remembered was that inside, this restaurant had heritage and exotic design and stuff. We sat on the floor (lesehan), but tables are available as well. We ordered menu bareng for 4, ayam koteka and dawet jumbo. The food was yummy. The sambal and the sate especially. Love the dawet jumbo is so perfect for the weather in Jogja. Overall, we had a nice experience while visiting Jogja. 😊
Li L — Google review
Very good food at very affordable prices! Totally understand the queue outside. Not even a fan of mi goreng but really enjoyed this one, despite it being a little salty. Chicken and egg mixed in bamboo was a little dry but the sambal goes too well with it - we even asked and paid for extra sambal. Beef was very tender and the stir fry was more sweet than savoury. Kiwi drink was so good and refreshing - do stir before adding the syrup as there is already sweet concentrate at the bottom of the drink. All this for 118k. Splendid.
Z — Google review
Yes, the waiting game is crazy but it’s all worthy! The food is what you expected it to be, very comforting and for a famous restaurant it’s so affordable. And the service is amazing, all the staff nice Just don’t go here when you are extremely hangry and got no extra time for waiting There’s a little inconvenient about the food so i give it 4 stars
Primalia N — Google review
The ambience is geared towards tradition. All seating is on the floor and we have to take off our shoes. Service is fast and good. Thankful for the waitress who patiently answered our queries and gave good recommendations. I got the gudeg. It's a traditional Javanese dish. I enjoyed it a lot. The chicken was well marinated and the stewed jackfruit added a unique flavour to it. In addition to that, I enjoyed the tempe goreng with the sweet and savoury kecap manis. The goreng pisang was a little lackluster. Overall it was a good and unique experience. This place is always full. We went at 2pm and even at 3pm there were still people waiting for a table.

Mediterranea Restaurant by Kamil

European restaurant
Mediterranea Restaurant by Kamil offers a delightful blend of French and Mediterranean cuisine in a minimalist setting with wooden accents. Since its establishment in 2012, the restaurant has been committed to sustainability by sourcing local ingredients from Yogyakarta's farms while also importing some essential items. Chef Camille, known as Kamil, hailing from France, showcases his passion for food through an extensive menu featuring authentic Mediterranean dishes like pizza and kebabs.
Looking for the best western food in Yogyakarta and I bumped to this beautiful restaurant. They have quite extensive menu and most of them are intriguing. I tried some of their dishes, ordered some steaks and desserts too… They are all tasty and well priced too, definitely will be back for more. But maybe not on holiday season and be sure to make reservation… 😉
Budi H — Google review
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences in Yogyakarta. The food was outstanding, every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I especially loved the squid ink pasta and the wood-fired pizza, both cooked to perfection. Service was warm and attentive without being intrusive, making the whole meal feel relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was cozy with a Mediterranean charm that made it perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic flavors and excellent hospitality in the heart of Yogyakarta.

Tried out this famous restaurant while traveling in Yogya. And since it was on a Saturday, the place is packed. So better make a booking before coming to avoid waiting time. Actually they do have plenty of seating area, including smoking & non smoking parts. They also have a shop attached to it that sells bakery items, local & imported goods. For the menu, it was quite vast with options of European and Asian food. So we opted for Duck & Pistachio Pâté, Mushroom Pizza, Entrecote with Cafe de Paris Butter, & Tiramisu. All of the food tasted great. Just for me the pâté needs a bit improvement because the texture is a bit hard so it’s hard to spread on the bread. Portions are hefty so it’s possible to share. Also the good thing is that service fast and the team is very attentive. And if you can, get the chococlatine, it was so delicious!!!!
Maharani — Google review
Our Favorite Place in Yogya! Flawless Food and Service Mediterranea is our absolute go-to restaurant every time we visit Yogyakarta. The food is consistently excellent, and the service never fails to impress. The bread and pastries are the freshest and best in town. We highly recommend the Duck Confit, which was outstanding, along with the Beef Lasagna, Piede de Boeuf, Tiramisu, and Rocher Three Ways—everything was perfect. Bonus: The small shop inside selling unique local products is a great touch! A truly reliable and memorable dining experience.
Bagfetishperson B — Google review
We went to Mediterranea after visiting the Royal Garden, and it was honestly the best decision we made in Yogyakarta! We took a Grab to get there because we were craving pasta and some Western food after days of eating local dishes — and this place absolutely exceeded our expectations. The food is incredible — world-class quality, beautifully plated, and bursting with flavor. We were shocked that it wasn’t overpriced at all! Every time we dined here, our total bill was just around 100,000 IDR, even though we ordered multiple dishes because we wanted to try everything on the menu. Everything was just that good. The ambiance is warm and inviting, the staff are kind and attentive, and the whole experience feels genuinely special without being pretentious. I also noticed that Mediterranea has won a TripAdvisor award, and it totally deserves it. This became our absolute favorite restaurant in Yogyakarta — we went back every single day until we left the city. If I ever come back to Yogyakarta again, I swear I’m coming back to this restaurant. It’s an easy Chef’s Kiss 💋🍝 from me.
Joneaj L — Google review
We had dinner here. Although I had a reservation for a later time, we decided to try our luck and go there earlier since we had an early activity the following day, and the server found us an available table. Restaurant was very clean, service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious. This restaurant is highly recommended for both couples and those dining in groups, especially if you want a taste of that Mediterranean menu.
Marisa M — Google review
Food are fresh and authentic, worth the price. One waiter kept coming to our table with other people's order, guess he was just lacking focus. Parking space is limited.
Kalista S — Google review
This is, I think, my 5th time here and a must-do everytime I visit Jogja.. so, I've only visited Jogja 5 times. We went all out this time. Appetizers: olives & feta cheese, hummus & pita bread, beef carpaccio, and tuna tataki. Mains: magret de canard (duck) and lamb shank with quinoa. Desserts: applie pie tatin and panacotta. Drinks: Bordeaux wine from France and Leonardo Da Vinci from Italy. As always, 10/10. Server was attentive and the vibe of the place was relaxing.

Roaster And Bear Restaurant

Mentioned on

Western restaurant
Roaster And Bear Restaurant is a luxurious and trendy cafe that has become a favorite among young people due to its super cute design with teddy bears in every corner, making it a perfect spot for Instagram-worthy photos. Located near Tugu Yogyakarta, this upscale restaurant offers a variety of international menus at varying prices, including snacks and drinks. The restaurant's beautiful and modern design creates a casual and relaxed atmosphere. One of the must-try dishes here is the steak.
Food is great, there's also great deals for food and drink packages. The place got cute big teddy bears. I love the food. Service is super great and everyone has great hospitality. I love the sweet iced tea. It tastes really good.
Bellinda S — Google review
We had dinner here as it was conveniently next to our hotel. They managed to make vegetarian options of pasta and pizza. The mini pizza was delicious. The decor is modern and pleasant with large soft toy bears for cuteness. Staff were attentive and we had a good meal here.

Cute place with nice soul, jazz, music, they have indonesian and western cuisine for everyone's taste. Came here for fast lunch, happy I choose this one. Cute for Instagram photos, gatherings friends family.

Roaster and Bear is hands down one of my favorite places to eat in Yogyakarta. I’ve been here countless times and not once have I been disappointed. The food is consistently amazing. I’ve tried their risotto, pizza, pastas, tiramisu, and everything has been spot-on. The service is excellent: staff are attentive, friendly, and helpful without being overbearing. The ambience is also a major plus: calm, cozy, and perfect for those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere away from the noise and crowds. Whether I’m visiting for brunch, dinner, or dessert, I always make time to come back here every time I’m in town. Highly recommended!
Aura P — Google review
Great restaurant with many different options. Interesting but delicious flavour combinations (I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and apple and some other ingredients). Pizzas are also great. Nicely thin and crispy. Staff was friendly, helpful and quick. The feta cheese that was in the salad was sadly not the Greek feta I’m used to (it was strangely creamy and tasted a bit musty) but that definitely did not negatively impact the meal and experience at the restaurant. I would definitely go here again. The drinks were also very well done and they had lots of varieties of mocktails and soft drinks. Great place
Anouk T — Google review
We came here for dinner. Restaurant is very modern and perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner. Menu is well balanced with both Indonesian cuisine and Western cuisine. Had a few beers and some wedges. As for the mains, I had steamed chicken with soup, my first time eating it and it was so tasty! Husband had a beef burger with chips which was as expected. Food and beverages were reasonably priced. Cleanliness was also on point. Waiters were so welcoming and nice! What was new to us was that orders are placed directly from your phone by scanning a QR code, super efficient! Highly recommended both for couples and for big tables.

The place served affordable and delicious ans juice steak, perfectly cooked and paired with just the right sauce. The cheesecake and desserts were absolutely delightful!

Visiting this place for dinner turned out to be great. Not too loud or crowded, a nice spot to relax near Tugu Jogja. The ambience, food, and beverages are excellent and reasonably priced. The staffs are helpful and very warm, superb!

Sundanese restaurant
Gubug Makan Mang Engking Soragan Castle is a recommended fine dining spot in Yogyakarta, offering a unique experience of dining inside a medieval castle with European-style architecture. The restaurant is known for its beautiful saung-saung surrounding the fish pond, creating a charming atmosphere. Guests can enjoy delicious seafood dishes as well as grilled chicken and ribs.
A great place to chill and eat. The environment is breezy and nature-like. You could feel the silence of the forest, and also the sound of fishes swimming. The taste of the food, for me is pretty good, although the price is pretty standard for a tourist spot, and the staffs are nice too. Overall, its a good place to try out, and it could be said that you’re paying for the experience (decors, environment, etc)
Timothy W — Google review
The restaurant is spacious! It’s your kinda go to place for an event or big gathering. The atmosphere is traditional and tropical. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. It’s too sweet and not spicy enough for Indonesians imo. I wouldn’t go back for the food, but I might for the size of the restaurant as they can accommodate a lot of people.
Rhea R — Google review
Dining here makes you feel like royalty—good service and a lovely atmosphere! While the food is decent (nothing extraordinary), the overall experience and reasonable prices make it worth a visit. Perfect when you want to treat anyone without breaking the bank!
00Y — Google review
Service is good. Atmosphere was all good till we saw a big rat jumping and running across the dinning table of the hut where we were sitting. Food was below average. Not worth recommending. Prawn meat was dried. Squid was okay. Kangkong tasted bland. Ayam kecap manis was dried though the sauce was okay. Crab was really bad. Crab Meat was all mushy and tasteless not even sure was it spoilt or overcooked. Personally i do not recommend here. There are other much better food options out there
YR — Google review
Food is below average. Squid salted egg is rookie level (disappointed) Gurame is average.. Iga bakar is okay. Honey prawn on stick is okay.. Sweet Please do not believe me. Pls try and rate it yourself. I am giving my honest feedback. Plus the price is steep probably given the fact that its one of the oldest restaurant in jogja and the castle setting is good.
Firdaus ! — Google review
Good food, good service, good place. The price maigh bit expensive, but it worth. The food taste always consistent in a good way. The place always clean. The fish therapy pond also plush point spot to wait while preparing the food.
Kame K — Google review
The place is favorite my one, and food? Way too standard, meaning it's nothing special. My first time visit was amazing, we we're sitting in gazebo with Fish for to get relax view. Water was clean, but the second time it looks dirty. Well it's still worth to have an experience. Many Instagramworthy spots that we can take pictures. The staffs were friendly even though a bit slow. Prices were adorable inexpensive. They have big enough parking space, so it's really helpful in busy hours
Adinda F — Google review
spacious place for eating with big families, good ambience, quick service and friendly enough staffs, the foods were delicious although well the prices are little bit expensive but worth it. my favourites are udang bakar madu and kepiting lemburi,

Abhayagiri is a tranquil restaurant located in the hills of a charming village in Prambanan, offering stunning views of the majestic Prambanan Temple and Mount Merapi. The restaurant features a luxurious take on Javanese traditional design with earthy yet lavish interiors. It offers global cuisine including Indonesian and international dishes such as Chicken Cajun, Bebek Kebuli, Oxtail Soup, Beef Wellington, and more.
Very nice place with spectacular view of Candi Prambanan and Mt. Merapi (when the sky is clear). All of the food was great and nicely presented. Kudos to all of the staffs especially Mr. Ahmed (sales banquet), Ms. Sofie (sales executive), Ms. Dini (PIC on duty at the day of our event), chefs, and the super helpful and friendly security team. I recommend this place to do gathering/event, even for a simple dine in experience.

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing scenery while enjoying quality food. With a view on the Prambanan temple and the Merapi volcano in the distance, you really can’t go wrong with this place. Good to book in advance to get a good spot looking out over the city.
Bert S — Google review
Abhayagiri Restaurant is one of my favorites. The food and drinks are all delicious, and the area is huge and perfect for Instagram photos. We can dine indoors with air conditioning or on the terrace, where we love to sit and take in the view. If you have kids, the kids also enjoy horseback riding and interacting with the pigeons and guinea fowl. Dont worry,, the car park is massive.
Agustine P — Google review
I had a wonderful experience with **Mr. Erwin and Ms. Cha Cha, the photographer, during the complimentary photo-taking session at Abhayagiri Sumberwatu Heritage Resort. Their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail were truly impressive. The entire experience was smooth and enjoyable, and the photos turned out beautifully. I was very satisfied with their top-notch service and highly recommend them to anyone visiting the resort.
Yudhish J — Google review
Food is like just ok for their Indonesia fare…. service wise - staff not very attentive as there’s hardly anyone stationed at the outdoor dining area…. Ordered all our food at once and dessert was served before our main course… not asked not told about it… when asked if this can be served later, we were told it’s already made… process could have been better … Saving grace is the view.
Aaron K — Google review
Great food, excellent view, unfortunately it was raining heavily when we were there, jadi ga bisa explore the venue. We'll be back for sure.
Erzadilla H — Google review
The place has stunning views of Yogyakarta! But I’d recommend to come in the morning for breakfast/brunch or at the evening for tea time or dinner, otherwise the weather would be too hot. The food is taking a long time to come. The staff is helpful, but only to some selected groups. It’s incredibly pricey, but perhaps the views compensate the price.
Aninda D — Google review
Had a wonderful birthday celebration here! Staff were very friendly and helped to arrange for the birthday cake with customised happy birthday wordings! Food was presented beautifully! We had the best table with nice night view with lightings across the city. Restaurant ambience is nice! Overall very good!

Gudeg Pawon

Mentioned on
3 lists
$$$$affordable
Javanese restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Yogyakarta, Gudeg Pawon is a culinary gem that has been delighting locals and visitors alike since 1958. This beloved eatery specializes in gudeg, a traditional dish made from young jackfruit simmered for hours in rich coconut milk and aromatic spices. Served alongside rice, chicken, and sambal, each plate offers a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors that truly captures the essence of Javanese cuisine.
Gudeg Pawon Selera Nusantara is an essential destination for those seeking an authentic Yogyakarta culinary experience at night. This spot offers the rare and memorable opportunity to dine directly in the kitchen, immersing visitors in a traditional and lively atmosphere. The food is not only flavorful but also enhanced by the unique "pawon" (live kitchen) concept. Perfect for those eager to savor authentic gudeg, it's best to arrive early to avoid long queues. Highly recommended dishes include the spicy krecek, bursting with rich and savory flavors, the tender and well-seasoned kampung chicken opor, and the tempe bacem, which perfectly rounds out the meal.
Diasdo S — Google review
If you want an authentic Javanese culinary experience, then this is a must go. Gudeg is so well known as Jogja traditional food, made of young, unripe jackfruit cooked with coconut milk gives you a distinct and unique flavor. Some people associate it to be similar with a very tender beef. You can view the old kitchen they use to make this meal, nothing fancy, no aircon not even waiters 😊 but to see the uncle put gudeg, krecek, chicken/meat, egg and all the ingredients to your plate and hand over to your hand directly, well.... that's something very personal, folks 😍 I don't have to comment on the taste, it's 11 out of 10 for sure! And still... Quite affordable, this place got my 100% recommendation ; you will not only got the delicious meal but cool experience 🤩
Piter H — Google review
Finally back again after 19 years ago for the first time eating here.As far as I remember, the kitchen hasn't changed much, only the access road to here is wider and brighter. There are no long queues like before, also the opening hours are earlier due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a rule that prohibits activities not to exceed 9 pm.What I like about the gudeg here is that the gori is not too sweet, wet and the sauce is thin. The opor chicken is tender with a savory sauce and the krecek is soft with large pieces. If you want it spicy, you can ask for cayenne pepper in the krecek sauce and then eat it with the side dishes. Ah, this Pawon gudeg is so delicious, I recommend it!Besides, it reminds me of the nostalgia of the old days when I ate with my ex-girlfriend who is now my wife.. Hehehehe..
Rico A — Google review
Lucky when we arrived only 2 people queue. When we about to pay, lining up to the door. About 15people. Gudeg not too sweet. Ayam is chewy and nice. The kerecek is spicy and salty. For those who like salty version will like this. The ibu2 is super friendly. Just eat first and pay later. It looks like they dont write it down our order.( 5 of us) but apparently they have a book written all of the order.
KeruPug — Google review
Still one of the best Jogja yet not sweet taste of gudeg dishes, love it! now open earlier rathar than 10pm on wards!
Bayu P — Google review
Went here before opening hours and second later tons of people came and start to filled up the place. the place is not really big, and we eat wherever we want. the taste is good, the price is pretty high and the portion is normal.
Clarissa E — Google review
[+++] Such a unique experience when you could enter the traditional kitchen of the gudeg and witness it directly [++] I prefer this kind of gudeg where the sweetness is mild and yet also has decent spiciness from the krecek [+] The price is super affordable for a domestic tourist like me
Tara M — Google review
Ok let's be honest, the Gudeg defenitely just an ordinary gudeg and nothing special about the taste, you could find a way better one across Yogyakarta. The thing is..what makes this place so famous is the 'concept' and the hype of net, that's all about it. They sell the food in a humble traditional village style kitchen (which make people think its the most authentic, we know people go crazy for this kind of concept and hype right?) and only open for 3 hours (which make people think it would sold fast, so long queque is happened). The food serve directly from the hot pot, so you will eat it while it still warm. The service is lousy and slow (old man and woman serve food, pay, and talk at the same time). The price is not that affordable for Yogyakarta standard either, higher rate than other bigger proper Gudeg restaurant (especially this one who sell from 'traditional village style kind of kitchen')

Gudeg Yu Djum is a popular restaurant in Yogyakarta known for its delicious gudeg, a traditional Javanese dish made from young jackfruit cooked with coconut milk and spices. The restaurant also offers other accompanying dishes such as fried chicken, sweet soy sauce eggs, and marinated tofu and tempeh. Additionally, visitors can try the Bakpia, a traditional snack available in various flavors that are perfect as souvenirs.
We came here tontry gudeg and we loved it. You can sit and eat your order of gudeg with some amazing tapioca chips
Pablo R — Google review
This restaurant is a chain that specialises in the iconic Yogyakarta cuisine called Gudeg. Gudeg is generally composed of stewed eggs, tempeh, rehydrated beef skin, and chicken depending on your choice of toppings. However, when we arrived here (this was before dinner time), they were out of almost everything on their menu, so we had to order the shredded chicken menu. The overall flavour was good, but the portion was disproportionately small. I don't feel like I received good value for the amount that I paid for. The atmosphere was hot and humid, the floors were dirty, and the service was quite inattentive. I can understand the place being open to the outdoors hence the hotness, but the air circulation inside wasn't good either so it made the heat worse. I don't think I had a great experience eating here, so I don't recommend eating at their Malioboro branch. Maybe other spots are better. ⭐ 3/10 For more food reviews of restaurants all over the world, follow @allyeatsfood on Instagram! ❤️
Ally I — Google review
I had the Nasi Gudeng Suwir. The taste was good. It was supposed to have shredded chicken in it. It had two slivers - see it in picture at the bottom left! Very small portion. The irony is that I got one to go for my daughter, and the portion was significantly larger, but still very small amount of chicken. Unfortunate they ruin the experience like that. I feelt robbed!
Calin S — Google review
The taste of the gudeg is actually good, but I tried the duck and it was too rubbery and quite hard to chew. This branch itself feels a bit uncomfortable, the place is small and not very clean. Another thing that really bothered us is that many singers kept coming inside asking for money, which made it hard to enjoy the meal. The prices are also a little too high compared to what you get. But overall, if you’re looking to try authentic gudeg, it’s still worth the experience.
Zakaria F — Google review
Overrated Do not recommend - food poisoning after eating here, with diarrhea and vomiting afterward It’s possible that the coconut gravy wasn’t fresh? The skin stew (krecek?) had very oily smell, and overall the dishes were much too sweet for my taste
X T — Google review
This restaurant is very famous for serving one of the most popular local dishes, Gudeg. Even though, it is super authentic, I can't say I enjoyed it very much, the dish is made of weird ingredients that I am not used to. You pick a chicken piece of your choice (Breast, Thigh, Neck.. Etc) and it's smothered with their signature sauce, served with rice, palmed sugar jack fruit and fried cow skin. It was an experience for sure worth trying
Loay — Google review
I'm sorry, absolute rubbish. Gudeg Suwir had no chicken in it at all. Extremely sweet jackfruit and rice and something like cow skin. I've been to several cities in Indonesia, this was the worst food I've ever got. Overrated.
Usame K — Google review
Gudeg Yu Djum is a legendary culinary institution in Yogyakarta, renowned for its authentic gudeg crafted from a family recipe passed down through four generations. The original restaurant began in the 1950s and has since expanded to several branches, including one near Malioboro and another on Wijilan Street. It’s celebrated for maintaining the rich, traditional taste of gudeg cooked over firewood—imbuing the dish with a distinctive smoky aroma and well-rounded sweetness.

Very interesting and exciting concept with vast range of varieties of mushrooms! A very fun way to showcase mushrooms and elevate vegan cuisine as well. Love the idea and the concept. A few menu might be stretching it a bit and might not have the best balance, but still truly appreciate their creative ideas.

Stopped with friends for early lunch. Place was quite because it was still early and raining. Vegetarian dishes with a large variety and so many incredible flavours fused into mouth watering dishes. Food was vibrant, flavorful, full of colours and portions are good and priced well encouraging you to try different mixes and options. Staff were pleasant, service was quick. Beautiful gardens and water features to explore and there is a gift shop selling foods and clothing. Not being vegetarian I was pleasantly surprised by what can be done with the right ingredients and some creative flair.

A must-visit in Jogja! Loved their creative mushroom dishes — fresh, tasty, and full of unique flavors. The place is spacious and has a fun local vibe. Stayed a while after eating to check some Cuanday trading signals. Great spot to enjoy good food and sneak in a little market watch.

Everything here is about mushrooms and all in the menu is made from mushrooms, even sate. It was all delicious. Our tourist guide Mr Yoga brought us here after visiting the Borobudur Temple and we enjoyed the food and nice atmosphere.

A Must-Visit Culinary Spot in Yogyakarta! 😍🍄 If you’re planning a trip to Yogyakarta and looking for a unique culinary experience, Jejamuran is a place you shouldn’t miss. Eating at Jejamuran was undeniably one of the highlights of the Yogyakarta trip. The creativity in turning mushrooms into such diverse and flavorful dishes is impressive, even for non-vegetarians. It’s perfect for those who are looking to try something different yet authentically Indonesian. 🍄‍🟫Here are some recommended dishes you absolutely must try: 🍛 Tongseng Jamur 🥦 Tumis Brokoli Jamur 🫔 Botok Jamur : Wrapped in banana leaves and steamed, the botok jamur is fragrant, soft, and bursting with earthy umami flavors. It’s subtly spiced, with grated coconut enhancing the natural sweetness of the mushrooms. 🍢 Sate Jamur : One of Jejamuran’s most popular items. The mushroom satay is grilled to perfection, slightly crispy on the edges, and doused in a rich, nutty peanut sauce. Overall 10/10

Enjoyed my lunch of mushroom dishes. They also have fried chicken, prawn and fishes dishes which are not on the menu.

Vegan friendly resto in Yogyakarta, as most of the menu are made from mushrooms a.k.a. “Jamur.” Worth a visit, because they taste and menu are varied. Must try: Karedok Jamur, Sate Jamur, Pepes Jamur

Nestled in the bustling city of Yogyakarta, Angkringan Kopi Jos Lik Man offers a unique culinary experience. This renowned spot is famous for its Sego Kucing, which consists of rice and an array of side dishes like Sambel Teri and Oseng Tempeh. What sets this place apart is its signature Kopi Joss coffee, where charcoal is used to infuse a distinct flavor into the brew.
This is street food done simple. Everything roasted over coals, everyone in a relaxed environment on the pavement. Very nice experience, very pleasant and helpful host. A must try in in jogja.

Another new and unusual coffee... but the taste is amazing. They told me coffee with charcoals has their functions, which is to ease the bloated tummy

A great place to hangout especially if you want some traditional atmosphere. Taste of the food is delicious, they have many variations of satay. You can ask to re heat the satay, and they will grill the satay again. It will be great if they re grease the satay with kecap or their own sauce. Rice also very delicious, all of the variant is worth to try. My only complaint is there is not much snack or gorengan, only satay, rice and drink. Price is okay, not on the cheap side, but also not to be considered pricy.

A MUST VISIT in Yogyakarta night adventure. This place is the branch from the original Kopi Joss, back in 1968. The taste still the same from the last time I visited 20 years ago. It's cheap, humble, yet delicious.
Denni S — Google review
Came here in the evening before dinner to try the charcoal coffee and it did not disappoint. I was told that the charcoal helps to reduce the acidity of the coffee and I feel that held true. The coffee was smooth and tasty once it had a chance to cool down. The restaurant had a chill vibe with many locals laughing and enjoying their food and drinks. The seating was mostly on mats on the ground. I recommend giving this place a try

Do you know a famous place in Yogyakarta where university students, cyber communities such as bloggers and chatters, journalists, artists, pedicab drivers, and even hookers get relax and involved in a warm conversation? When you studied in this student city, where did you usually hold a discussion with your friends about your paper's themes of tasks? One of the places you mention must be angkringan Lik Man that is located at the north of Tugu railway station. It is understandable since the place is famous with Yogyakarta communities. No formal rules apply in this place but tolerance where people are willing to shares space, for example, and to aware of each other's feeling. YogYES invites you to enjoy the nuance of angkringan Lik Man as many other people has experienced as well. From Malioboro Street, you can walk northwards until you reach an alley right to the north of Tugu railway station. If you turn left, you will directly find this famous place on your left side. To identify it, just look at two big containers connected with a bamboo, brazier with burning charcoals, and rows of neatly arranged glasses. Angkringan Lik Man is legendary because the seller is the first generation of the angkringan sellers in Yogyakarta most of whom come from Klaten. Lik Man or uncle Man whose original name is Siswo Raharjo is the son of grandpa Pairo, the first angkringan seller in Yogyakarta who has been running this business since 1950s. The stall with angkringan concept that used to be called 'ting ting hik' was inherited to Lik Man in 1969. Since then, other angkringans mushroomed in Yogyakarta. When you arrive in this angkringan that starts to open at six o'clock in the evening, you can order hot or cold drinks. The favorite beverage is Kopi Joss, coffee served with hot charcoal plunged in it. The superiority of such coffee is lower degree of caffeine after being neutralized by the charcoal. Such finding was resulted from a research done by some students of Gadjah Mada University who often hang around there. The main menu is sego kucing that consists of some rice and stirred-fried tempe and tiny sea fish cooked with chili. Other food such as fries and fried jadah (made of sticky rice) are also available. The delicious sego kucing served warm goes well with fried tempe or others like skewered quail's eggs. It does not have to spend much money to taste delicious menu. Most of the foods can be served warm if you want them to be. Just ask Mr. Man to warm them on the charcoal for a while. Some side dishes such as mendoan (tempe fried with flour), filled tofu, sweetened tempe, chicken head, and of course jadah are more delicious when they are grilled before being served. Usually people eat sego kucing on banana leaf as the packaging of it. Otherwise, you can ask for plates to put more than one portion of sego kucing. Two seat arrangements are available for you to enjoy your meals. If you want to seat near the seller in order for you to chat with him or to ease you add some more dishes, you would better sit beside the brazier. However, if you want to be able to have a chat with your friends, it is better for you to sit on the mat spread on the pavement across the street. The spread of the mat reaches as long as 100 meter. So, don't worry of shorting of space!

Kopi Joss been one of the must visit in Yogyakarta. I came her for their 'sego kucing' with tons of cheap side dishes (send my love to sate2an ❤️) and charcoal black coffee for sure! I love the ambience of sitting around at trotoar with bunch of buskers.

The food is gooood! They have many variants of snack and you can sit for hours without noticing. I tried the Kopi Jos, it's good. I recommend to go here if you want to hang out with friends.

Tempo Gelato Prawirotaman is a popular spot in Yogyakarta, offering a delightful experience for dessert enthusiasts. With its vibrant and inviting atmosphere, it has become a favorite hangout for the younger crowd. The gelato shop provides an array of exciting flavors such as passionfruit, raspberry, snickers, and green tea. It's the perfect place to indulge in childhood favorites or discover new sweet treats.
Best gelato in town, the level of sweetness is balanced and has a lot of flavour choice. Price is good with several option of cup size. The place was neat and cozy to hangout.
Frens R — Google review
The place always has a fun vibe, with so many unique flavors to choose from from the classic chocolate and vanilla to local-inspired ones. The texture is creamy, the taste is rich, and the portion is generous for the price. It’s always crowded but worth the wait, definitely one of the must-visit spots in Jogja for something refreshing and sweet.
Amanda D — Google review
Best of the best gelato in town ! But I think they should improve the queue system in order to manage a best and great experience for customer, an automatic number bell would be great. So here's the way you order: go to cashier and choose your number of flavour to get a ticket, I recommend you choose 3 flavour in the cup for 50,000 rupiah (around $3), or you can choose 2 flavour in the cup or with cone. After you got the ticket, wait your number to be call and you can choose the flavour (you can test it btw if there's no line behind you). I recommend the Cinnamon and Thai Tea. Oh, better you come around 9 to 9:30 pm, more faster queue because is near the closing time (close time is 10:30pm)
Odie D — Google review
For a gelato shop, they really go all out here! The decoration is top-notch, and the place feels super cool even when Jogja’s weather is blazing hot. They even provide a water dispenser with paper cups — nice touch! Lots of comfy lounge seats and high stools too, so no worries about not getting a spot. Tons of flavor options, including some unique ones. I tried basil and ginger — surprisingly really good, especially for someone who loves spices like me. Plenty of cute photo spots too — definitely coming back!

Welcoming ambience and many delicious flavours at this Gelato 🍨 spot not too far from Malioboro. You first pay 💰 for the quantity and size that you want before proceeding to order the flavour with your payment receipt. A really smooth and quick process even when crowded.
Amos S — Google review
I tried Temp Gelato in Yogyakarta and got a small cup with two scoops for 30,000 IDR. The portion looks small at first but it is more filling than it seems. I had the salted caramel and banana flavors and they were both very good. The place itself is huge and was packed with people when I went. Still it seems to be a popular spot and worth trying if you are a gelato lover.
Lydia C — Google review
A very famous gelato place in all Yogya area! Be ready for a long queue. I waited for about 20 minutes to get my order. But it's worth the wait, the fresh and sweet gelato and sorbet really suited to cool down the hot Jogja weather. Although finding a seat and parking is a bit of hassle, but its an experience.
Ratri A — Google review
With the expectations of being a popular place with gelato it exited my guesses. It’s thoughtfully decorated, well organised and delishes! Recommend cinnamon or combination of white chocolate and passion fruit. Try it out even thought it’s highly popular - it is with the reason!

The airport is comfortable, spacious enough, but there is very little variety in the places to eat. We left the plane at 12 noon, and there was nothing ready at the food stand. Finally, we just ate snacks sold there.

Jendral Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang is a pleasant airport! The airport is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. Staff are friendly and helpful, making check-in and security processes smooth. The facilities, including restrooms and waiting areas, are modern and comfortable. Food options are decent, with local flavors available. Overall, a great experience for travelers!

Major upgrade from the old airport. There's only one entrance for departure and arrival which also serves as public-commercial space. The well designed airside lounge also compact and easily traversed from one gate to another. Too bad SRG is not a major airport so you cannot drop and store the checked baggage before the scheduled counters open.

New airport of semarang, modern construction, much larger than the old one, not so crowded, almost every commercial space has been rented and in operation. The passenger waiting room is large 👍

Ahmad Yani Airport is a commendable small international airport that successfully serves its function as a welcoming entry point to Semarang. It prioritizes efficiency, cleanliness, and a modern aesthetic. While the food and shopping aren't its strong suits, the excellent service and ease of transit mean you can quickly be on your way to explore the wonderful sights and cuisine of Semarang and Central Java.

Convenient with direct train (KA BIAS) to city. Comfortable, clean with Javanese ambiance. Some find food/shops pricey, terminal could be more modern.

It is small but convenient airport near solo, central java. The terminal is clean, not too crowded, and easy to navigate. Check-in, security and boarding are usually smooth. Few shops and outlets are also there, thought options are limited compared to bigger airports. Transportation to solo and nearby cities is straightforward with taxis and buses. A calm and efficient airport for domestic travel.

International airport in Solo, but technically located in Boyolali. From the airport you can reach the Solo city by taxi, bus, or train. By train (to Balapan Station) you can book directly in the counter or book online, the ticket price is 7k. By taxi you can book directly in the counter near exit gate in arrival area, and for bus you have to go to bus terminal near parking area.

The airport has so many changes since the last time I was here. Now seems they having a lot of improvement including new boarding area. The concept is so good, the boarding area is in the same area with the food court, and there is no more glass wall to separate the area like before. The rest room is also good and clean. So comfy, they even have baby closet in it.

Yogyakarta International Airport

International airport
Airport
Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is a modern and spacious airport that has replaced the old Adisucipto International Airport for commercial flights. The new airport offers a friendly and comfortable experience with its artistic design, plenty of dining options, and bright interior filled with natural sunlight. It provides a great view of aircraft movements from its floor-to-ceiling glass facade. However, it's located quite far from the city center, taking about 1.5 hours to reach.
Taking the airport train from Yogyakarta station to the airport and it took around 35 minutes. During the trip, we are accompanied by the beautiful view like hills and rice fields. if you will take this airport train, u have to book the ticket first on the web and it is better to book well in advance, if you want to take the airport train with the cheapest price 😉😊 When I arrived at the airport, I was truly amazed to see the airport—it's extremely large, magnificent, and exceptionally clean. What's even more impressive, you can't hear the sound of airplanes landing or taking off at all. If you're looking for something, you don't have to worry because, you can find many shops selling food, souvenirs, and minimarkets. The airport is also located near the beach and hills, which makes the scenery even more beautiful.
Azzahraa I — Google review
We were at this airport for arrival and departure. The airport is very large and not all sections are in use. It is pretty far from the city, so travellers need to allocate at least 1.5 hours of travel time. The wheelchair service here is efficient. There are many places to sit and wait at the gate.
S C — Google review
Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is really quite an amazing airport. It’s not crowded with tourists, and mostly locals use it, which makes the experience smooth and stress-free. The baggage belt service is handled carefully, and luggage is received without delay. The shops and washrooms are clean and well-maintained, and the overall environment feels modern and comfortable. With fewer people, there are no long lines — entry and procedures are quick and easy. The staff and locals are also very helpful and friendly. Overall, a wonderful airport experience! ✈️👏
Nur S — Google review
A medium size airport that seem too big for the amount of flights and travelers that it handles. It is very roomy inside and quite efficient, probably partially due to the fact there are relatively few people using it. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops past security, but not one bar, which is fine. A good amount of chairs and a fair amount of charging stations. Decent free WiFi. The only bad thing is location. At least an hour and a half drive from Yogyakarta.
Bobby C — Google review
Yogyakarta International Airport is modern, clean, and easy to navigate. The facilities are new and comfortable with a few shops and places to eat. The airport is far from the city but there is a direct train that takes about 30 minutes and makes getting there very convenient. Tickets cost 20,000 IDR and I recommend buying them in advance on railink.com since they tend to sell out quickly. Overall it is a smooth airport to travel through and a good gateway to Yogyakarta.
Lydia C — Google review
My flight got delayed thrice here so we arrived past 8pm, i got stamp right away at the immigration queue and good for entry, there’s staff before you get out and into customs which will guide you to input your details on the tablet - a mandatory when entering jogja. It’s smooth. The only problem was when I got held for questioning at the customs police not by my baggage but because I was meeting someone here, and questions like that. I thought at first he won’t allow me exit as he took all my things and even my documents - my insurance and all. Luckily he did but to an expense of i almost almost get left behind by the last trip of train. The airport is pretty massive. - when I was at the train station and was about to purchase new ticket, my physical cards won’t work on their machines so I have to withdraw cash to the atm booth which seems to be 2km away. It would be nice to put up a booth just outside the train station. I was able to withdraw but the last trip of the train almost almost left me. A buzzer beater

The Glagah Relief art installation at Yogyakarta International Airport is a masterpiece. This stunning piece seamlessly blends traditional Indonesian motifs with modern design, creating a breathtaking visual experience for travelers. The artwork highlights the rich cultural diversity of Indonesia, making it an excellent representation of the nation's artistic talent. The Glagah Relief art installation is a must-see for anyone traveling through Yogyakarta International Airport. Its beauty, cultural significance, and immersive experience make it a memorable part of any journey
Radhakrishnan N — Google review
Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) offers a modern and pleasant travel experience, though it's located quite a distance from the city—so it's wise to allocate at least two hours for the journey, especially with one-way traffic along the route. Despite its remote location, the airport impresses with its cleanliness, friendly and polite staff, and a welcoming atmosphere that reflects Indonesian hospitality. Inside, you'll find a good range of facilities, including clean restrooms, comfortable seating areas, prayer rooms, and helpful information boards. The food options are mostly local chains, with some familiar names like A&W available even in the waiting area after check-in. There are also souvenir shops and cozy rest zones to make your wait more enjoyable. For convenience, YIA is connected to the city via the KAI Airport Express train—an efficient and affordable transport option. Overall, YIA stands out as a well-designed, traveler-friendly airport that offers both functionality and comfort.

Adisutjipto Airport, located in Yogyakarta, Java, serves as a gateway to domestic and international destinations. Despite its small size, the airport offers good service and comfortable waiting areas with the aroma of freshly baked bread. The cultural richness of Javanese traditions is evident throughout the airport, providing a unique experience for travelers. Additionally, it is conveniently situated near various attractions and hotels in the city center.

Very busy airport with so little facilities. The airport is not big, that’s why it’s so crowded. Rather uncomfortable due to its size. You could find charging station, souvenir shop, lounge, and so on. But it can’t help. I think it has to be improved due to more and more people come to Yogyakarta

These days this airport only serves limited number of flights. The rest are moved to the new international airport about 50 kms away. This results in the lack of traffic of passenger in the vicinity. Like a closed business, the narrow passage is pretty dark.
Gole R — Google review
Very small international airport, still have some big brand fast food and coffee in it. This airport will operate till 2020 and will change to new airport, by the beach and 50km away from city. No sim card selling found upon arrival. Immigration and customer officer not friendly
Richmond H — Google review
The international airport in Yogyakarta which in my opinion is very small in size like a bus terminal. but the service is good, waiting room is comfortable. In here , you will smell something like a bread. Very taste. Many things make this airport different from other airports. namely cultural diversity and local wisdom of Javanese culture which is very thick at this airport. The saddest thing at this airport is the narrow apron so that many planes have been delayed to wait for landing, so the plane is circling above the Kulon Progo area before landing. The density of this airport has exceeded its maximum capacity. Fortunately there is a replacement airport even though the replacement airport has not been 100% complete. Yes, Yogyakarta International Airport is a replacement airport for this adisutjipto airport.
