Mediterranean restaurant
Dalmatino is a laid-back restaurant in Hvar, Croatia, known for its inviting patio and diverse menu featuring seafood, steak, pasta, small plates, and desserts. Despite being a budget-friendly option compared to other fine dining establishments in the area, it offers friendly service and delicious cuisine that has garnered excellent reviews from many tourists. The restaurant's popularity often results in a bustling atmosphere; however, guests can enjoy drinks at the adjacent bar while waiting for their table.
The food was delicious! We had the tuna, the Mediterranean gnocchi and the white fish. The service was excellent. We interacted with many different servers and they were all personable, kind and funny. The restaurant itself is very cute on a little side street. We had a great time !
Kelsey B — Google review
We stopped here for lunch on our maiden day in Hvar on the recommendation of our hotel concierge at Casa Benita. We had a spectacular culinary experience. Before our appetizer was presented, we were offered a refreshing aperitif of carob-infused chilled brandy. This was so refreshing given the day's temp of 34° C. Next, the chef offered gratis a fried polenta bar that was packed with flavor from multiple herbs and seasonings. For the appetizer we consumed the steak tartar with truffle slices and toasted baguette slices. This far exceeded the steak tartar we had on Split a few days earlier. For the shared main courses, we ordered the black gnocchi with shrimp in truffle sauce, octopus salad and curry risotto with shrimp. All were very delicious and the risotto was prepared to well done as requested. At the end of our meal we were again offered gratis a pine needle infused brandy to wash down our meal. We had three different servers who were most attentive to our dining needs. As for the check, the total amount was discounted 10% because we chose to pay by cash versus card. We highly recommend Dalmatino for anyone visiting Hvar and will certainly return when we come back to Croatia in a few years!
Khuong D — Google review
This place not only has great food and service, but they also go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome. My octopus salad portion was generous and tasty, and my husband’s curry shrimp risotto was mild with a rich seafood flavor. During our lunch, they offered us one complimentary small bite and three free drinks—which were really good—plus a 10% discount for paying in cash. Such a great experience!
Melanie Y — Google review
Make a stop here your priority! Totally phenomenal experience. The food and the vibe was amazing! From the moment we sat down, we were greeted with a smile and warmth. Each waiter had an interesting story to tell. I hope you get to experience this place on your trip to Hvar
Ryan J — Google review
This has to be one of our best meals in Croatia. The service is so great, they make you feel so welcome and the food was absolutely outstanding. Definitely coming here again while we’re in Hvar! We had the Istria Truffle Gnocchi and Octopus Carpaccio with the chocolate cake for dessert. Dalmatian food is 🤩🤩 and it was perfectly executed at Dalmatino. Highly highly recommend! Don’t skip this if you’re in Hvar!
Abigail F — Google review
They definitely have the best black risotto in Old Town Dubrovnik! We ordered so much and nothing disappoints! We had an octopus salad, fish of the day and pasta 💯 The staffs are accommodating as we didn’t have a booking but managed to squeeze us in. So make sure you book ahead of time especially for dinners!
Yvane F — Google review
I had an extraordinary dining experience at what might be the finest restaurant I’ve ever visited—a bold claim, but well-earned. The waitstaff operated like a perfectly synchronized team, anticipating every need with precision and warmth. Their knowledge was impressive, and their recommendation of a wine—now my absolute favorite— was spot-on. The truffle gnocchi stood out as exceptional, though every dish was a masterpiece. We capped the evening with espresso-martinis, and cigars, making for an unforgettable finale. This place is a true gem.
Stevan J — Google review
My partner and I visited this restaurant last night. I can honestly say this was one of the nicest meals I have ever had eating out. We had the Chateau Briand for the main, and granny's cake for dessert. We were lucky enough to get a table as during peak season this restaurant can be booked up to 3 weeks in advance. The food was excellent. The service was very attentive. Tony and the rest of the team went above and beyond. If you are going to eat anywhere in Hvar town, I would recommend eating in this restaurant. It was an excellent all round experience.

Restaurant
Chops Grill - Steak & Seafood is a relaxed restaurant in Split that offers a diverse global menu featuring seafood dishes, pasta, premium steaks, and delectable desserts. The restaurant has garnered attention for its exceptional chefs hailing from various countries with prestigious culinary accolades. Known as the city's authentic steakhouse, Chops Grill delights meat enthusiasts with top-quality beef selections including Wagyu beef and an array of cuts such as Black Angus prime rib and Tomahawk on the bone.
Ignore every bad review on here and listen up because those people clearly have no taste buds. Everything we ordered was delicious, EVERYTHING!! the steaks were perfectly cooked, the sides all full of flavor, the steak sauces were a perfect touch to top it off, and the drinks were amazing! Our waitress was very attentive! And a meal like this goes perfect with the restaurant set up and vibe! Dont pass this place up trust me!
Mossa Z — Google review
I had the steak fillet here and honestly, it was the best I’ve ever tried – perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The wine selection is amazing and pairs beautifully with the food. The atmosphere is just perfect – elegant yet relaxed, making it an absolutely must-visit spot in Split. A special thanks to Blazhe for the outstanding service – attentive, friendly, and truly made the experience memorable. Highly recommend Chops Grill for anyone looking for top-class steak, seafood. and a great dining experience!
Šarūnas N — Google review
Beautiful meal and last night at Split. The best steak and ribs dinner in awhile in Croatia! We had the Black Angus Rib eye and pork ribs with truffled potatoes and vegetables (capsicum, zucchini and mushrooms) on the side, and a bottle of the Italian Solco Toscana Syrah (Awarded best Italian red), went very well with the meal, easy to drink and smooth. Highly recommend this establishment. We enjoyed the atmosphere, with the soft live accoustic. Thank you to Ante, our wait staff for recommending the wine and for the service. Ante was quite, knowledgeable and super kind and friendly. A truly memorable evening for our last night in Split. Sad to be leaving.
L D — Google review
The service is extremely friendly, and the food is incredibly delicious – you can easily say this is the best steak in town. The prices may not be the lowest, but the taste and quality are at the highest possible level. We recommend it to everyone, and we will definitely come back when we’re in Split again.
Next V — Google review
Just brilliant! You should try mixed grill plate for two. Everything so tender, great side dishes and the Service and atmosphere is outstanding as well. Big compliment to our waiter Ivan R.! Of course it’s a bit more expressive than other restaurants, but definitely worth it. In other restaurants you pay 30€ for a steak that doesn’t taste well, so better pay 5-10€ more for an amazing one! We‘ll definitely come back :)
Maximilian S — Google review
A nice steakhouse in central Split. We ordered the chops grill for two (€68), which included chicken, sirloin steak, and veal. However, the price covers only the meat (sauces and sides must be ordered separately). At that price point, I feel at least fries or another side should be included, as paying extra makes it feel a bit expensive for just the meat. Also, I think I had the most expensive bottle of water of my life at Chops (9€ for a bottle of still water!). I rated the service 4 stars because when the platter arrived, no one explained which cut was which, so we had to figure it out ourselves. In my experience dining at steakhouses across Europe, introducing the cuts is standard practice. The meat was good, really juicy and very well cooked. The sauces (we ordered the bernaise and the truffle sauces) were very tasty too. My partner loved the onion rings, they were super crispy!
Perla B — Google review
One of the best places to have dinner in split. The location is perfect, as well as the atmosphere, the staff is polite, but the most important thing is the food which is beyond tasty, especially Steak Wellington.
Nikola B — Google review
What a great venue. Such tentative staff and great food. Great relaxed vibe. Expect to pay a little more for the quality of food and service. We took the kids and they didn’t treat us any different. Amazing meats cooked to perfection. Can’t recommend this enough. We booked to ensure a table but they didn’t seem overly busy the whole night.

Gradska kavana Arsenal Restaurant

$$$$affordable
Croatian restaurant
Gradska kavana Arsenal Restaurant is situated on the main square near prominent landmarks like Sponza Palace and the Rectors Palace. The cafe features a spacious terrace where locals enjoy their morning coffee, while tourists stop by for drinks and light meals throughout the day. If the terrace is full, visitors can explore the modernly decorated interior or head to the second eastern terrace overlooking the old harbor. Established in 1895, this restaurant offers modernized Mediterranean cuisine in addition to its renovated space.
Beautiful Scenery and a Memorable Dining Experience This restaurant offers a truly unique setting with breathtaking scenery. You can choose to enjoy a stunning view of the sea or face the charming town behind you either way, the atmosphere is peaceful and picturesque, especially during sunset. The food is very good, with dishes that are flavorful and well-prepared. Portions are on the smaller side, but just enough to leave you satisfied, especially since the quality is excellent. Every bite feels carefully made, and you can tell the kitchen puts real thought into the presentation and taste. The staff are warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing, which really adds to the experience. It’s a lovely spot for a quiet, scenic meal whether you’re stopping by for lunch or enjoying a romantic evening.
Dario J — Google review
The best place in Dubrovnik for breakfast. The view is stunning. Once seated, the service was very slow. The guys just swan around doing very little, while the women work really hard. That aside, the food was amazing! Super tasty, great portion sizes and speedy in its delivery. We LOVED the breads and spreads that came with it - a really lovely touch. Don’t let the bad service ruin what was a great breakfast experience.
Matthew D — Google review
Located by the old port area of Dubrovnik, this restaurant sits beautifully under the stone arches overlooking the small harbour — a lovely spot with great views. It’s part of the same group that runs other well-known places like Panorama, Dubravka 1836, and the fine-dining restaurant Nautika. We hadn’t made a booking but managed to get a table in the second row facing out through the arches. The setting was charming and ideal for a relaxed lunch or early dinner. We started with a glass of white wine and some bread. The bread selection (€3) included three different types — reasonable but nothing special, and we didn’t end up eating much of it. Prices overall were on the higher side, even by European standards. For the main course, I had the cuttlefish on a bed of potato purée with a squid ink sauce. This dish was excellent — perfectly cooked with a tender interior and crispy exterior, and the black squid sauce added great flavour, though I wish there had been a bit more of it. Service was friendly and professional. Our waitress, Draga, and the hostess, Maya, were both helpful , and I particularly appreciated that they offered a small tasting before ordering a glass of wine — a nice touch. Overall, Gradska Kavana Arsenal offers a beautiful setting and solid food, with standout seafood and good service, though prices are a bit above average for what you get.
Travelling D — Google review
This restaurant was the best we’ve been in Old Town. Walking around we’ve booked a table and came back 2h later. Absolutely helpful staff. Food was great. Squid done perfectly, grilled not fried. Same with octopus or veal. You might be surprised with fish soup which doesn’t include any pieces of fish inside. Great view on small harbour and part of walls. Prices are really reasonable. Especially compared with restaurant behind the corner where cocktails ware twice more expensive.
Lukasz L — Google review
Incredible view, excellent food & great wine selection. Our server Stjepan was very knowledgeable. He paired our food with different local white wines. The food itself is incredible, recommended by locals. My husband had the seafood stew and I had the set menu from the Good Food Festival. Very fresh ingredients and the flavors are well balanced. And it’s such elegant place!
Helen C — Google review
The overall experience is very good. Food is very tasty, we ordered fish soup, oysters, seafood risotto, and tuna steak. Our waiter Obren is very profession and asks for any help for the menu. He explained the dishes while it is served. The restaurant atmosphere is very good and romantic. We sitted in middle row outdoor and our waitr help us to take a picture with sunset and the arch of the restaurant. We also free thank you drink after. Highly recommended to come to this restaurant.
Albert L — Google review
First and foremost, shout out to Obren! Best service with the best server/sommelier. He recommended an excellent wine pairing with my sea bass. We had the Posip Intrada—white wine, very buttery. If you have the chance, please try it. Couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. The meal was €30-40, I enjoyed the sea bass and my friends came back a second time—both getting the Black risotto again. I would 110% come back and hope to see Obren again!
Precious A — Google review
Came here for Dinner twice because we loved the food so much! Obren was our server both times and was beyond knowledgeable about the wine selections and dishes, which made it easy to choose what we wanted each time. We got the black risotto, the truffle pasta, and the sea bass. All were presented well and flavorful. I personally preferred the black risotto over all of them. I would definitely recommend coming here and enjoying a meal. Thank you Obren for all your help and kindness during our visit!

Portofino

Restaurant
If you're looking for a stylish Mediterranean restaurant with excellent service and delicious food, look no further than Portofino Steak & Pasta. This establishment has an amazing atmosphere that's perfect for a romantic dinner, and the staff are very knowledgable about the menu. If you're not sure what you want, the waiter will be happy to make recommendations. In addition to great food, Portofino also offers excellent cocktails and desserts.
This restaurant is definitely worth the money. Excellent atmosphere, very close to the heart of the Old-town. The dishes are delicious and real eye candies. They have open kitchen. The staff are polite and proactive, like in the big book. Each dish delivery has a ceremony that introduces it. The terrace is excellent for morning coffee or early afternoon snacks. I give a heartfelt five stars and more nominate to Michelin.
Jozsi T — Google review
Great location in the Old Town of Split, in a shaded spot where even on hot summer days you don’t feel the heat too much. The service was excellent – very friendly and attentive waiters. The dishes arrived quickly, and the staff always made sure to ask if everything was okay. When it comes to the food, compared to other Croatian restaurants in Split, this one really stands out. The meals are not just typical tourist-oriented dishes, but carefully prepared from high-quality ingredients with a lot of passion. Starters, main courses, and desserts – everything was absolutely delicious. We were served by a waiter named Luka, who was extremely helpful and made the experience even better. Highly recommended!
Dan J — Google review
Absolutely fantastic service and incredible food! Don’t hesitate for a second—this restaurant goes above and beyond to make sure every detail is perfect. The staff are attentive, everything runs seamlessly, and the experience is truly unforgettable. Couldn’t recommend it more highly!
Lizz P — Google review
Fantastic dinner spot in Split, easily our favorite meal during our 5-night stay! Our server, Toni, was outstanding and gave excellent recommendations. We had the goat cheese salad, filet, ribeye, and ravioli. All perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Be sure to save room for dessert! We started with the Lemon & Raspberry Tart and the Warm Mascarpone Cake, both incredible, and ended up adding the Tiramisu alla Portofino (a deconstructed tiramisu) every bite was perfection. Highly recommend!
Joe C — Google review
I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. The customer service was outstanding – every staff member was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. A special mention goes to the manager “Toni”, who is such a lovely person with an amazing positive attitude. He really makes the atmosphere feel warm and inviting, which makes the dining experience even better. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the whole vibe of the place. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to and highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and excellent service!
Milad T — Google review
Service: Great experience with Toni! We had a lovely dinner for 11 of us and the staff did an excellent job keeping us served. Ambiance: Situated in lovely quad…great outdoor experience. Lighting is perfect. Food is solid. My favorite was the goat cheese salad. Desserts are creative and tasty. Beautifully played.
Grace Y — Google review
We really enjoyed our evening at Portofino. The place felt very calm and cozy. The servers were super professional and made us feel well taken care of. My tuna steak looked amazing, and while I’d have liked a bit more punch in the flavor, it was still really good. The lemon and raspberry tart was the perfect dessert. Overall it was a great experience, far from the typical tourist spots. Edit: We returned to Portofino on our final evening in Split, and it once again exceeded expectations. It easily stood out as the best restaurant we visited during our trip. The staff (Atanas) even remembered allergies from our first visit. We’ve tried most of the menu now, and everything was delicious. Definitely a must-visit if you get the chance.
Niklas — Google review
We went there for the grilled octopus but found out that it was only available for lunch. Nonetheless, the monk fish carpaccio and lobster bisque were delicious. The filet mignon and lamb rack were both excellent. Service was great!

Pizza restaurant
TuttoBene Pizzeria & Fast Food is a must-visit culinary gem nestled in the vibrant city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. This eatery has earned its reputation for offering an enticing menu that includes everything from mouthwatering pizzas and juicy burgers to flavorful chicken kebabs and wraps. Diners often rave about the freshness of the ingredients, which truly elevate each dish into a memorable dining experience.
Love this place. We were in town for 3 days. Went here every night. My partner is vegetarian and had something different each night. Lasagna was fantastic. Pizzas are amazing! And burgers (and veggie burgers) .. Are wow!! Highly recommend a visit here. Superb service and atmosphere too.
Steve T — Google review
Serves some decent options with the pizza being the clear standout – fresh, flavorful, and easily the best item on the menu. They offer some halal chicken choices, which is a plus. The chicken burger was average, and the chicken tortilla (doner) leaned a bit too salty for my taste. Prices are on the higher side for a fast food joint, but overall, a decent spot if you’re craving good pizza and need halal options.
Faisal A — Google review
Wanted to give a review because I was soo impressed by this restaurant while on vacation in Dubrovnik. We loved the location & were taking a walk & decided to come into this restaurant. All I can say is the food was phenomenal!! And the service was even better!! We had the sweetest guy Milan taking care of us! We all instantly felt so welcomed & he went out of his way to take care of us & provided top notch service! 1000% recommend this restaurant! Will definitely come back tomorrow!
Christian S — Google review
The Greek salad was really fresh and tasty definitely the highlight of the meal. The burger was average: the bacon a bit overcooked and the patty quite neutral in flavor. Still, a nice spot for a quick bite with good service and fair prices.
Andrii M — Google review
The last thing we were looking for was fast food on our last night. We had eaten so much on our trip through Dubrovnik that we just wanted something light. We ordered a couple of chicken gyros and a Greek salad. The gyros were a little light on the chicken, but plenty of filling. It was an interesting Greek salad as I’ve never had sliced pickles in one before, and it also had big chunks of feta. We were able to eat it, but didn’t feel the best afterwards.
Tony V — Google review
Amazing food, a little bit expensive. The service was very good, there was a big tv playing Kitchen24 on it. Would go there again, for the food. I had a delicious beefsteak with gorgonzolan sauce. The price was €38,-, drinks were also really expensive. Overall food was great.
Stefano D — Google review
❌ TOURIST TRAP – AVOID ❌ I ordered a chicken club sandwich… and it arrived without chicken 🫠. I asked the server to fix it, and they brought it back “corrected”: two random chicken slices — one completely burnt and rock hard, the other strangely marinated in curry (?? in a club sandwich). Totally inedible, and to top it off, I got sick afterward. Don’t be fooled by the “prestige” look and female bodyguards at the entrance. It’s all smoke and mirrors. 👉 DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, WALK AWAY.
Nermine L — Google review
The crispy chicken and chips were absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked, juicy inside with a golden crunch outside. The portion was generous and the chips were fresh and tasty. The burger was just as good – full of flavour, well-seasoned, and really satisfying. Great food, great value, will definitely be back again!

Bota Šare Oyster & Sushi Bar

Sushi restaurant
Bota Šare Oyster & Sushi Bar is a must-visit in Dubrovnik, offering an exquisite dining experience. The restaurant is renowned for its use of the best local bluefin tuna, shrimp, and shellfish to create beautifully presented sushi, sashimi, carpaccio, and tartare.
This was one of the best lunches we had in Dubrovnik, and much better sushi than some of the other places in town. The oysters were so delicious, we ordered a second dozen. The cocktails were also fantastic! All seven people in our party had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this place when visiting the area.
Christopher D — Google review
Proper loved this place. Amil from Bota was cute and witty and took really good care of us despite it being a really warm day. We had amazing oysters, sushi, gins and tonic and Prosecco. Everything was beautifully prepared and the sushi was soooo fresh. It was in a lovely location only one minute away from where we were staying which was a bonus. We had a lovely birthday lunch
Michelle M — Google review
Great sushi spot in Old Town Dubrovnik! The fish was very fresh and prices were fair considering the usual Old Town markup. Definitely book a reservation in advance—otherwise you could be waiting 20–35 minutes for a cancellation or no-show. Worth the stop if you’re craving sushi in Dubrovnik.
David C — Google review
We came across Bota Šare Oyster & Sushi Bar thanks to a local recommendation, and we’re so glad we went. It was also our very first time trying oysters – and what a perfect place to do so! The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, attentive without ever being pushy. The oysters were fresh and delicious, and the sushi was beautifully prepared. On top of that, we got a great recommendation for a local Croatian wine that paired perfectly with the meal. The setting itself is lovely, tucked away in a side street of Dubrovnik, which adds to the charm. All in all, this place is a definite recommendation! 🦪

Japanese Restaurant — Fresh fish, warm service, and a cozy coastal twist—this spot blends Japanese flavors with Dubrovnik’s laid-back vibe. ⸻ 🍣 Food & Presentation – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Fresh ingredients, especially the salmon. Nicely plated and appetizing in a simple, elegant way. 🧑‍🍳 Service & Hospitality – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding staff with genuine attentiveness. They read the room well, chat naturally, and add charm to the meal with small friendly gestures. 🪷 Ambience – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ More Mediterranean than Japanese, but calm and pleasant. Indoor air feels perfect in autumn, enhancing the relaxed dining mood. 💶 Value for Money – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reasonable pricing for the quality and experience offered. 📍 Location & Accessibility – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Easy access from the north gate of Old Town, though slightly uphill if coming from other areas. ⸻ Highly recommended if you want a break from Mediterranean cuisine and are craving good Asian (Japanese) food in Dubrovnik.
[K]uro S — Google review
We came for the oysters and stayed for everything else. The fresh oysters were top-tier—clean, briny, and exactly what you hope for in Dubrovnik. We ordered a full spread: amberjack ceviche, tuna nigiri, nigiri hot sake, spicy tuna roll, salmon skin roll, agemaki fantasy, and the fried Philadelphia roll. Everything was very good, but three things stood out: the oysters, the spicy tuna roll, and the fried Philadelphia. Those were next-level. Staff were genuinely friendly—not just polite, but actually warm and helpful. No attitude, no rush. They made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. If you’re in Dubrovnik and want fresh seafood with a Japanese twist, this place delivers. No gimmicks, just solid food and good people.

Butler Gourmet&Cocktails Garden

Restaurant
Butler Gourmet&Cocktails Garden in Zadar offers a unique dining experience for vegetarians and vegans with its Art of Raw menu, featuring fresh and raw dishes with a stunning view of the port. While traditional Dalmatian restaurants in the region also cater to vegetarian preferences with a variety of flavorful options, The Garden provides an Ibiza-like atmosphere in Zadar's Old Town, where guests can relax on day beds under white drapes while enjoying views of the sea.
An Exceptional Dining Experience – Compliments to the Chef and Gino! Our dinner at The Butler in Zadar was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of our trip to Croatia. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, with some lovely music in the background, stylish decor, and a beautiful outdoor setting that made us feel instantly at ease. Our waiter, Gino, was absolutely fantastic—friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to walk us through the menu, recommended some of the dishes according to our preferences and made sure we were enjoying every moment of our experience. His passion for hospitality truly elevated the evening. As for the food—it was outstanding. Every dish was a masterpiece, both in presentation and flavour. You could truly taste the care and creativity behind each bite. A special thank you and heartfelt compliments to the chef for crafting such a wonderful dishes. The detox risotto was delicious, and the slow-cooked meat melted in the mouth. We finished with the desserts which were beautifully balanced. It’s rare to find a restaurant where both the food and service are exceptional, but The Butler delivers on every level. Thank you again to Gino for making us feel so welcome, and to the talented chef for a meal we won’t forget. We’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re in Zadar.

Exquisite food and amazing service. You can almost feel like a royalty, with the “butlers” swirling around and doing their best to leave a lasting impression. We enjoyed gazpacho (superb), veggies burger and beef “pasticada”. Staff speaks fluent English and it was great that the place offered baby chairs & silicon plates for the kids, since we’re travelling with our 14 months daughter. Wholeheartedly recommended!!! Special thanks to Gino for exemplary service. We will definitely come back, if we are in Zadar in the future.

Our experience at the Garden Lounge was amazing from start to finish. Our server Luka was great. He was very polite and had excellent knowledge of menu items. The food was also top tier! We have been to several different stops on our European vacation and this was overall the best dinning experience! If I ever make it back to Zadar I will definitely visit again!

We came here on the last day of our vacation, and this place will always remain a beautiful memory for us. Excellent service, excellent food, atmosphere, cocktails, wines—everything! ⸻ Had dinner here with my wife and it was an outstanding experience. We started with a seafood starter that was fresh and full of flavour, followed by a perfectly cooked tuna steak that was simply extraordinary. The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive and professional, making us feel welcome throughout the evening. Highly recommended for both the quality of the food and the excellent service. We will definitely be back!

The food was nice and the waitress was very good at promoting food and drinks. The decor of the restaurant and the atmosphere were all good. However compared to some other restaurants we have been to in Zadar and many other cities in Croatia, I would said the price was a bit high.

This Tuesday we were served by Mia, who was incredibly kind and attentive to every request. We had a dreamy pasticada and also tried the pulled pork burger, which wasn’t really my taste but that’s just personal. The homemade tea is definitely worth trying. Prices are what you’d expect for the quality and location, and overall it was a great experience.

LAGANINI seafood • pasta • steak

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Konoba Laganini is a charming local restaurant in Split, Croatia that beautifully blends culinary traditions with innovative approaches. The menu is thoughtfully tailored to accommodate various dietary preferences and restrictions, offering options for vegetarians and those with sensitivities. Known for its elegant ambiance and flavorful seafood dishes, it's an ideal spot for a sophisticated dining experience. With both indoor and outdoor seating available, guests can enjoy fresh and delicious food in a cozy setting surrounded by stone walls.
The food and service were superb. We struggled a bit on what to order, but at the end we sought advice from the staff. It turned out that every single dish was amazing. The cooking style in Croatia in general may not cater to Asian palates, but those with an open mind will discover its wonders! Credit to Marco for detailed introduction to each dishes and wine! From the origin of food to how to elevate the flavour of food with different seasoning!

The service in the restaurant was very good. The salt mixed with olive oil to put on the bread was handmade and very tasty. The starter of prawns, tuna and swordfish was very tasty and made use of the ingredients as they are. The risotto and pasta we had as a main course were also delicious. The quality of the restaurant was excellent, without being spoilt by the richness of being in the old town. I would definitely recommend it!

A lovely venue with open air/closeable courtyard in the Palace precinct close to the Cathedral. The food was perfect. Great flavour combinations and perfectly seasoned and dressed. Great wine and sparkling wine options, we tried all 3 of the local bottles and enjoyed every one of them, especially the rosé. The service was impeccable Alex our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. We are staying just around the corner and will be back. They have great seafood and steak options also...as we observed and chatted to another Aussie couple who were thoroughly enjoying their swordfish tartar , eye fillet steak and truffle risotto. We and they had the Tomato Mozzarella di Bufala with peach and basil that was superb and our beefsteak salad was really good.

I’m not at all surprised by the many positive reviews for this restaurant — it truly deserves them. The food was outstanding, both in flavor and presentation. The service was exceptional; our waiter was attentive and genuinely cared about our experience. Although the prices are similar to other restaurants in the Split city center, the level of professionalism and service here felt like a true fine dining experience. Highly recommended!

We ordered truffle pasta, steak, cocktails and Rakija. Pasta was absolutely delicious. The best pasta I have had so far. It was with real truffle mushrooms. Steak was also delicious. Decent cocktails. We were too full for dessert, but wanted to finish with a sweet tooth so tried the tiramisu. Perfectly balanced sweetness and enough for sharing. Our server was so good. Too bad I can’t remember his name. But this gentlemen explained our Rakija options very well and helped us picking the finest to our likes.prices are above average but well worth the fine dining atmosphere.

Elegant restaurant located in the center of the old town in Split right next to Diocletian's Palace. Particularly noteworthy is the extremely courteous and very professional service and, of course, the dishes. The food is served very elegantly with interesting side dishes. I recommend the sea bass fillet and steak. Definitely a place worth recommending.

🌟 Review: Restaurant Lagnini – Split, Croatia 🌟 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ During our visit to Split, we discovered a true culinary gem: Restaurant Lagnini. What a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a beautiful space and attentive service that made our evening extra special. We started with the ćevapi, a traditional dish that was perfectly seasoned – rich, savory, and full of flavor. Next, we enjoyed the Istrian pasta, a real treat for lovers of Mediterranean cuisine: fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. For dessert, we shared the Detroit-style apple pie – a delightful twist on a classic, with a crispy crust and a filling that struck just the right balance between sweet and spiced. The afternoon was perfectly complemented by a glass of Pošip, a refined white wine from Dalmatia that paired beautifully with our dishes – fresh, fruity, and elegant. In short: Lagnini is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic flavors, a relaxed atmosphere, and top-quality food. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Wonderful evening, dishes are top notch, and the service amazing (we finally found the level of service we are used to!!) ambiance of 4 just because we were seated in the e small alley and had a lot of passages. We enjoyed it so much that we even checked if this was a bib gourmand from Michelin! Highly recommend

Adriatic Sushi & Oyster Bar in Split is a culinary gem that offers a diverse menu influenced by chefs from various countries. The restaurant boasts an impressive selection of sushi, including unique creations like fried oysters and Mexican burrito rolls, alongside traditional favorites like spring rolls and soft shell crab. For those seeking non-seafood options, the menu also features beefsteak and grilled salmon.
We had a fantastic dining experience, made even better by our incredible waiter, Peter. From the moment we sat down, Peter was attentive, knowledgeable, and warm—he truly elevated our evening. The food was exceptional. The sushi was some of the freshest we've ever had, all locally sourced. Every dish was beautifully presented, and Peter’s recommendations were absolutely spot on. The wine pairing he suggested was perfect, complementing the flavors of each course seamlessly. This is a place where both the food and service shine. Highly recommend for anyone looking for top-tier seafood and a memorable dining experience. We'll definitely be back!

We loved this restaurant so much. The food was delicious, we shared some sushi rolls such as California roll, spicy tuna and avocado roll. We also shared an amazing peach salad, the peaches were fresh and very sweet. My husband said the oysters were excellent and this was the first place we could find oysters available in split. The best part was our waiter Alex, he taught us more about the palace and its history. He was so kind and welcoming. Amazing experience.

Best sushi in Split and possibly ever!!! Perfectly prepared and best presentation ever witnessed. I've had lots of sushi from okay to what I thought was really good, but this was outstanding (new level to beat)! If you are a sushi lover would definitely go here if you are in city! It was expensive but quality was worth every bite. Unfortunately my pics are a little dark but served on ice and temperature was perfect!

We had the best dining experience ever. Such a must try restaurant. John, SUPER MARIO and Maladdin and all the rest of the staff were amazing and great. Food was amazing. Service was AWESOME. John gave us rich history and culture lesson. This is my top 3 restaurants I’ve ever been too in my life. Thank you so much for the experience and memory.

Had an amazing time, our server John had a great presence. His recommendations were spot on. The location, service and ambiance is exactly what you want from a relaxed restaurant in the middle of the city. The dishes had harmony in their flavours and we were constantly surprised by how all the extra elements added to our enjoyment of each bite. Highly recommend.

The service was one of the best quality. We had great recommendations, both about food and wine; and also about the city and sigthseeing. We were amazed by the food, the best tuna I’ve ever had. Sushi was amazing, was better than most of the Japanese restaurants I’ve tried. Sword dish carpaccio - definitely recommend. Special thanks to Peter for the great service and lovely conversation!

The sushi we had at Adriatic was very tasty. The fish is sourced locally and therefore tastes very fresh. Our waiter Ivo was very kind and professional. Desert options change by day - we had a very nice 'modern' applepie. The terrace is warm and cosy - the perfect date spot.

What a welcome to Split!! Our first nights dinner in split was exceptional! Superb sushi, the tuna belly sashimi was the best and I’ve had a career stint in Japan. Adrian who was on hand for menu and wine tips was really friendly and pointed us to a great wine Highly recommended

Pantarul

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Pantarul is a charming bistro located in Lapad, offering a laid-back dining experience with a focus on regional cuisine. The restaurant's name, meaning 'fork' in the local dialect, reflects its dedication to Dubrovnik's gastronomy. The menu features a variety of dishes such as burgers, fish, risotto, and meat plates made with fresh local produce from nearby farms. While the menu changes weekly, some signature dishes like sea bream and ox cheek remain constant favorites.
Came here for lunch on a Thursday. Only two other parties were here around 12:45pm. Excellent and friendly service, delicious seasonal food. Modern and elegant decor and vibe. I ordered an appetizer and main dish from the seasonal menu, plus two local beers. Highly recommended if it’s within your budget!

The spring rolls were very oily when you cut into them - the temperature of the oil must not have been correct. However, the beef fillet was delicious!!!! If you get anything you have to get that. Tuna was delicious and the gluten free cake was great.

An absolute delight to dine here. Grateful for the extraordinary effort from the kitchen to accommodate both gluten and lactose free. High quality cuisine and fantastic service. Thank you Nikola and others. Dined here twice in a week.

We got the meat and fish set menus (35 euro each) during the Good Food Festival happening around Dubrovnik and loved everything we had! The staff were helpful and friendly. Great place to eat!

We visited the restaurant by the recommendation of our host. The setting is very contemporary, quiet and warm. Our waitress was super welcoming. She explained more details about the different dishes which helped my parents decide what to get. Each meal had unique flavors and a great presentation. Loved it!

We were visiting from Australia, met a local who recommended Pantarul restaurant. So we booked a table, The food was exceptional, My wife and I loved it that much we ate there again the following night. Ordered two different meals and once again the meals were outstanding. Highly recommend. Thank you to all the staff at Pantarul. Nick & Catherine

One of the most exceptional restaurants in Dubrovnik. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was absolutely outstanding – every dish was bursting with flavor and prepared with the freshest ingredients. We ordered beef and fish steak, salad, bread and almond brittle - divine.
Katerina N — Google review
Pantarul was a peaceful escape just outside Dubrovnik 🍷✨ I came on a weekday evening with a reservation but noticed they had room for walk-ins too. The space was quiet, clean, and welcoming. The fish tartare came out on a warm plate, which was such a thoughtful touch 🐟🔥—fresh and full of flavor. The beef tagliata was tender and paired beautifully with the pepper jam 🥩🌶️. I tried the octopus special too, which was super fresh, though the cheese on top was a bit too much for me 🐙🧀. Ended on a high note with the whipped caramel almond brittle—so light and fluffy with the perfect crunchy sweet topping 🍮✨ While everything was tasty, the prices made it a bit hard to justify overall. Still, worth a visit if you’re looking for a calm, elevated meal outside the city!

Transportation in Dalmatia

Getting around Dalmatia can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Franjo Tuđman International Airport Zagreb

Airport
Franjo Tuđman International Airport Zagreb is the main airport serving Zagreb and its surrounding region. It offers convenient transportation options, including a bus service that runs into the city center every 30 minutes. While Croatia is often associated with its beautiful beaches, Zagreb boasts a rich cultural scene with numerous museums and historic landmarks. The city's Old Town features charming cobbled streets and medieval churches, while the New Town showcases a blend of architectural styles housing trendy cafes and gourmet restaurants.
I only arrived at Zagreb Airport (didn’t fly out), but from my experience, I was really impressed. The place is very clean, modern, and decently new, and when you’re about to exit, it actually feels pretty majestic—the ceiling is huge, like easily 10 meters high, and it gives the whole space a spacious, airy vibe that left a strong impression on me. The signage was clear, and the path from the arrivals area to getting outside and heading toward the city was very straightforward. I didn’t need to deal with security or boarding, so I can’t speak to that part of the experience, but as an arriving passenger, I had zero complaints. The bathrooms were on the cleaner side (even if there weren’t many), and overall, the airport just looked sleek and well maintained. Based on my limited but smooth and positive experience, I’d give it 5 stars.

The food was expensive and not great. €30 for 2 cheeseburger and fries and then had to pay a further €1 per ketchup sachet. Everything else was expensive, even supposed Duty Free! €25 for Kinder Buenos!!?? It was a small airport and the staff were friendly and it was painless apart from the expense and lacking food quality. Croatians are lovely people in general too so I gave it 3 stars in total. I probably should give it 4 stars because of the people, but the shocking food doesn’t allow me to.

having spent two full nights at this airport, i feel like i know it well enough to make a fair review. before and after security, the experience is totally different. unfortunately for me, i spent way more time before security. the airport is small and there’s not a lot of space to sit, plus the seats are really uncomfortable to spend the night on. i just ended up sitting on the floor near the restrooms because it was the only place i could find a plug to charge my phone. be warned: only a few of the plugs in this area actually work. going through security is a very smooth process, and after that, the airport changes. there’s a water fountain to fill up your water bottle as soon as you pass security. near the gates, there’s plenty of space, and the seats are 100 times more comfortable, with working plugs right next to them.

We depart from Zagreb airport to Turkey, the whole process from check in to clearance was very fast and efficient. Airport looks very new and clean. Saturday morning 7:30am, we arrived 2 hours prior to flight departure, check in at counter took us 10mins with minimum crowd. Security clearance was only 5mins. Still got lots of spare time.

Prices are much higher than the stores in town. Regardless, easy to get any croatia food/souvenirs at the airport before flying off. A water dispenser is available after bag checks and before heading to duty free shops.
Rise&Shine — Google review
The airport isn't large, but it's quite clean. In the check-in area, there's a coffee shop with a selection of pastries, a luggage shop, and a convenience store with a good selection of souvenirs. Two things I regret: First, there's NO LUGGAGE WRAPPING service here. Second, there's only one customs tax refund officer, and he's very slow, as he doesn't realy know his job, which leads to long queues. The check-in and immigration process upon arrival and departure is quite smooth. Towards the gate, there's a duty-free shop, a fashion shop, and two or three dining options.
Putih S — Google review
Small airport, good that you can arrive with public transportation from the city center. The checking of the lugagge is pretty quick so you pass fast to the door of the plane. The only thing there is not big option to grab something while you wait for the plane.
Miriam G — Google review
The building looks modern and sleek. That's the only upside to this airport. Otherwise there is no clear signage as to where your airline counter is nor any assistance available to ask. After searching for awhile we finally found the one small sign marking the Star Alliance Airlines check in. Security was a disaster requiring me to put my passport into a bin by itself, with nothing else in the bin. They then sent the passport into secondary screening where they swabbed the passport for the great danger it seemed to pose. Hahaha. Really!? Once we got to the other side the premier lounge was filthy with dirty dishes everywhere. Given the uncleanliness of the lounge we skipped having any food for fear of getting sick. Boarding of the plane was a disaster. Despite having two distinct lanes for first class and economy they let everyone stampede forward at once with no organization at all. The staff overall was cold and unfriendly. I've traveled through airports around the world and this one wins the prize for absolute worst. Truly an airport I hope to never have to set foot in again. A real disaster.
