Shinto shrine
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Suwa Taisha Kamisha Honmiya is a collection of wooden Shinto shrines and worship halls located in a serene forest at the foothills of the mountains in the Suwa Area of Nagano Prefecture. It is renowned for its historical significance, being related to Takashima Castle and originating from a god mentioned in the oldest remaining history book, Kojiki.
Visited this famous shrine in Nagano every new year these years. Love the atmosphere and you can eat and shop along the way to the shrine. Parking area is too busy during new year holiday but lucky enough to fine some vacancy a bit far from the spot.
Cecilia C — Google review
We enjoyed this shrine very much, tranquilly located on the edge of a forest and seemingly in harmony with the grand, towering trees that surround it. It is hard to appreciate Shinto shrines if you are not Japanese, or don't have a cultural and aesthetic understanding of their meaning, architecture and significance. But this one is just naturally attractive even if, like us, you have little understanding of what you are looking at. So much beautiful wood in the construction, and a pleasing absence of the signage that seems ubiquitous at many such places and that so badly mars the aesthetics. Easy to get to by car, with free parking available nearby. Not sure how to go about getting here by public transport.
Howard B — Google review
It was a very nice shrine with very good vibes.

This was a huge complex. I liked how everyone was dressed in traditional clothes and taking care of the site. It was cool to see a blessing being performed for safe travels for a truck driver and his companion. I was able to get the shrine stamps here. Everything was so well kept. I liked the sumo shrines that where as well which was cool. After visiting here I ate some nice jelly like noodles at a nearby shop which was perfect for the very hot day.
Scott C — Google review
This is the biggest of the four Suwa Taisha shrines. Lmts of interesting buildings and stuff. I enjoyed much here. The main god is famous for Sumo wrestling.

I visited in late January. One one hand it appears run-down—some structures were off-limits due to renovation, but on the other, it just feels really ancient. I did a little bit of research on this place prior to visiting (as we should, to appreciate the place more), and I knew this shrine is very culturally significant and one of the main ones in the country. It’s considered a power spot by many, but the only power I felt was the cold fingers of winter tucking themselves down behind my neck. It was cold. This shrine is one of the Suwa shrines that house the sacred logs that some brave, brave people ride down a mountainside during a festival that’s held every 6 years or so. I forget the name. I’m writing this on my phone half-dizzy after a strenuous hike.

This area has many beautiful shrines. The Shrines are all next to the mountains, so you feel connected to nature. It is a really peaceful here.

Suwa Grand Shrine (Japanese: 諏訪大社 Hepburn: Suwa taisha), historically also known as Suwa Shrine (諏訪神社 Suwa Jinja) or Suwa Daimyōjin (諏訪大明神), is a Shinto shrine in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. It is considered to be one of the oldest shrines in existence, being implied by the Nihon Shoki to already stand in the late 7th century. It certainly carries a pride of place and there are thousand year old trees around the shrine. Set in a peaceful tranquil forest. A Shinto ceremony was held as we passed by for a large Japanese company and its staff.

Public bath
Old-school public bathhouse dating to 1890 with simple tiled tubs for men & women.
(Translated by Google) This is a public bath located just before the slope leading to Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya. I have been to several Shimosuwa Onsen, but I thought this was one of the hardest to find. I relied on the information that it was behind a building that looked like an office and near the slope leading to Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya. I was worried about whether I would be able to find it, but surprisingly I was able to find it easily. I parked in a parking lot called Yotsukado in the shopping district. I told the person in the management building that I wanted to use the hot spring and my car number, and they told me that I could get a stamp from the person at the reception desk and there would be no parking fee. The entrance was just past the noren curtain, but there was only a vending machine installed alone in a dimly lit corridor. It felt like time had stopped. I got a stamp from the reception desk and entered the changing room, where there was an old-fashioned weighing scale. I had the urge to take a picture, but I couldn't because it was prohibited. The bathtub was a long, circular bathtub with a pillar standing in the center and hot spring water pouring into it from two places. A fair amount of water was spilling out of the bathtub. This is what you'd expect from Shimo-Suwa Onsen. When I got in, the temperature was just right. I thought that all the public baths at Shimo-Suwa Onsen were too hot to enter, so I was surprised to find that some were just the right temperature.

Natural Hot spring public bath 10 minutes from a JR station. Thought difficult to find, the red Noren with "ゆ” is easily spotted from the street. Cost 280 yen, a hair dryer 10 yen. A tub style similar to Do-go Onsen in Matsuyama (Round tub set in the center of house, hot water run from a center of the tub.) Bring your own soap, and towel. Enjoy.

(Translated by Google) Of all the public hot springs in Shimo-Suwa, this is the best of the best to me. It has a spacious, retro space that looks like a tiled warehouse, and the water is hot but manageable. The arcade-style entrance is also a unique attraction that you can only find here. It's a small thing, but I was quietly grateful for the free lockers for valuables. It's about a 6-minute walk from Shimo-Suwa Station I followed Google Maps and arrived right away♪ The entrance is at the end of a narrow passage, but there was a sign in front, so I found it right away! I bought a bath ticket from the ticket machine just inside the entrance The bath fee was only 300 yen I can't believe you can go to a hot spring♨ for 300 yen these days! I think Suwa is heaven♨! ✨(lol) I handed my bath ticket to the counter attendant and off I went! ' So I put my wallet and cell phone in a tiny locker for valuables, put my clothes in a clothes basket, and put my luggage on a shelf! The bath has an oval bathtub in the center. Some public baths don't have showers, but this Sugano Onsen has 9 shower areas on both sides, all with hoses and faucets! The facilities are perfect, just like a normal public bath ♨️♪🤗 After washing my whole body thoroughly, I soaked in the water✨ The faint smell of sulfur tickled my nose😆 I don't have a water temperature gauge, so I guess it was about 42-43 degrees? 🤔 The tube that the hot spring discharges from is upright in the center of the bath, and the water flows out in two parts, left and right. A wonderful bath♨ with fresh water pouring in all the time After the bath, gulp down some Yatsugatake Dairy Coffee Milk! 🥳 If there was a bath♨ like this nearby I'd want to go every day♪🤗 ♨♨♨♨♨ (Original)

(Translated by Google) This was the first bath on my 2025 Nagano Gunma Hot Spring Tour. The water was clear and colorless, with plenty of it, making it a very pleasant experience. The building is old, but it's well-kept and comfortable. I was impressed by the shower, which was kept at a comfortable temperature despite not being able to adjust the temperature. Also, since the nearest parking lot was unavailable due to an event, I used the tourist parking lot 300 meters away. Is it because the hot springs are treated as a shopping street?! It was free. (Translated by Google) In a word, it's a "retro hot spring bathhouse." Truly the most retro of retros. The fourth batter in the retro club. The facilities are dated, so those accustomed to super-sento (super public bathhouses) might be taken aback. There's a saying that goes, "In hot spring areas with abundant hot spring water, there's a public bathhouse. You should definitely bathe in one." I visited this hot spring to learn this saying, and it really made me realize that it was meant to deepen my understanding of the area... (lol) However, since I'm a person who won't compromise on the toilet, the only thing that bothered me was its age! The water was warm and comfortable. The quality of the water was moist and perfect. It was only 280 yen, so it didn't hurt my wallet at all. The milk after my bath was even better. The lady at the front desk was overflowing with love for her hometown, and it was truly heartwarming. It was a truly great experience. A local said, "This place has the most flavor," and I can see why. It was a bathhouse I'd like to return to someday.

Kurumayama, located in the central part of the Yatsugatake mountain range, is a highland peak that offers a variety of activities throughout the year. In winter, it's a popular spot for winter sports, while in warmer months, it's ideal for nature hikes. The area features stunning 360-degree panoramic views of the Northern Alps, Central Alps, and Southern Alps.
I went in winter so it’s a ski resort . The view from the very top after taking 2 chairlifts up has got to be the most breathtaking view I’ve ever seen . I want to come again for a hike during other seasons.

A grassland plateau above the clouds Kurumayama is a grassland plateau situated at 1925m between Lake Shirakaba and Kirigamine, along the panoramic road known as Venus Line. Like the nearby Lake Shirakaba, Kurumayama is a mountain resort which offers a great selection of activities in the middle of nature. A ski lift which operates all year round can bring you at the top of Mt. Kuruma-yama in 15min. From there on a clear day you can enjoy a breath-taking 360-degree panoramic view of Mt. Fuji, the Yatsugatake Mountains, the three ranges of the Alps, Mt. Asama and more. Nature is capricious but Kurumayama can boast an unparalleled high “clear sky ratio”, so chances are you can take a great picture. If you are an early riser, we suggest you try the sunrise lift. On the weekend, the lift opening time is sometimes anticipated to take you to the top before dawn so you can see the sun rise. With the right weather conditions, you might also see a picturesque sea of clouds form at the foot of the mountains. In winter, the mountain turns into a ski slope. Kurumayama Kogen Skypark Ski Resort features a wide piste with few trees, a layout which is fun for everyone from beginners to more expert skiers and snowboarders. Kurumayama and the adjacent Kirigamine are also a great spot for hiking. Once you are on top Mt. Kuruma-yama, you have access to a trail with hardly any ups and downs, perfect for any age and level. A light walk of about 4h will take you through Kirigamine to Yashima Wetland and back. Back in the day the area used to be a grazing ground and the locals kept vegetation growth under control to make sure they had soft nice grass for the cattle. Nowadays there are no more cows, but the scenery remains unchanged. The gentle slopes forming the plateau of Kurumayama and Kirigamine are covered by a thick layer of grass which is livened up by colorful flowers in the summer and pampas dancing in the wind in autumn. There are over 600 types of flowers growing in the area, but a special mention goes to nikko-kisuge, yellow daylilies, which covers the hills of Kurumayama and Kirigamine in mid-July. The altitude is not so high but the view is wonderful because it is an independent peak with no trees or mountains to block around. Although it is good even in the summer when it becomes grassland, I think that the snow covering period is the best. There is a lift just below the top, and you can go to the top of the big outlook by just a few climbs. Mt. Yatsugatake, Mt. Fuji, Southern Alps, Central Alps, Mt. Ontake, Mt. Norikura, North Alps, Mt. Asama, ...! It's a wonderful view as if you were in the center of Japan. Climbing this much easier, there are not so many mountains with spectacular views. Moreover, descending is skiing and it is in a blink of an eye to the foot. Please come and enjoy the scenic beauty on fine day of clear air in winter season.

The Chino City Togariishi Jomon Archaeological Museum offers a fascinating journey back to the Jomon period, showcasing over 2000 relics that reflect the artistic proficiency of this ancient era. Visitors can explore national treasures such as the Jomon pottery, Venus, and Masked Goddess, as well as unique stone tools made from obsidian. The museum provides English pamphlets for self-guided tours and also offers guided tours by historians.

It was like you were sucked back to the Jomon period. Amazing history! There is an English pamphlets from the counter. I went there alone but there was a group that was guided by a historian, I tagged along for more info. Every relics and clay made has a story to tell. Behold! There is a joyous Jomon fire festival at night on the 1st week of October where they sets up several bonfire. Free hot soba soup and tea are served too. Bring a picnic mat for sitting on the grass. Dance and enjoy your night away! So ethnically tribal!

A very interesting museum showing the history of human settlements in this region of Japan. Some really nice examples of earthenware and stone tools, as well as some recreations on the grass huts that works have been used. The grounds were delightful to walk through (although the "Big Rock" is probably not worth the longer walk, particularly if anyone has walking difficulties... It's not very big!!)

Discover the elegant aesthetic of Japanese prehistoric art The region has a long history going back to the dawn of Japanese civilization, over ten thousand years ago. In those bountiful and peaceful times following the ice age that we call the Jomon period, people led a serene lifestyle which allowed them to pursue artistic proficiency in their crafts. The over 2000 relics that were excavated at the foot of the Yatsugatake all but confirm that. If you like art and design, we suggest you pay a visit to Togari-ishi Museum to explore the ancient and mysterious world of Jomon art. The museum features a great number of elaborated clay figurines, bowls, jars and utensils made of obsidian. The pride of the collection are the statuettes of the “Jomon Venus” and the “Masked Goddess”, both designated as National Treasures,. The two exhibits which dates back to 4,000-3,000 BC are voluptuous and graceful, executed with great attention to details. In the park adjacent to the museum you can explore six traditional Jomon pit dwellings which have been reconstructed to show visitors what a village of that time would like.

Half-baked. The english version of the website doesn't include trip-critical information about their hands-on ceramic experience. It also fails to mention that the hands-on experience is not available when the work area is booked for group classes and where that information is found. I tried emailing them a few weeks prior to travel and they never replied. The facility itself has really quite a nice quiet atmosphere, and it's clear they have gone to some effort to make their instructions usable for all(using pictures)- but- the instructions are for a solid clay figurine, so it can't be fired or posted. The reason I go off the beaten path is to discover and recommend new things, and in the process help the local businesses, but this time I find myself forced to give a low rating. Would I have braved the sparse bus service to go here had I known I was going to be lugging 1kg of wet clay around for the rest of my trip? Hell no!

If you are interested in Japanese archaeology, especially the Jomon period (16,500 to 2,400 years ago), you can't miss this place, where you can see the national treasure standing clay figurines up close. At this facility, you can view two national treasure clay figurines (Jomon Venus and the Masked Goddess)and several pieces of pottery, as well as many valuable Jomon period relics.

While accessible by car, it's not recommended due to limited parking and potential crowding.
Shirakoma Pond is a stunning, tranquil spot surrounded by mountains at 1,500m elevation. The crystal-clear water reflects the changing seasons, creating a magical, mirror-like scene that inspires photographers and artists alike. Please note that this is "Mishaka Pond", not "Oshaka Pond".

A popular spot for photo enthusiasts to capture beautiful scenes. Visiting towards the end of October, with the mountains ablaze in the hues of red and yellow leaves, provides a picturesque backdrop at the Misyakaike Pond area. Enjoy the tranquil beauty of the Misyakaike Pond, highlighted by the changing autumn foliage. Even for those not keen on photography, a visit to this area offers the chance to appreciate the surrounding environment.

This hidden gem is quite a distance from the city, making it inaccessible without a car. While driving is suggested, the breathtaking views and wonderful air quality are absolutely worth the trip. It's highly recommended if you can spare the time to take a walk and appreciate the surroundings.

2024.08 A very nice and quiet pond, originally built as reservoir usage. When there is no wind, the reflection is so beautiful ~~~

We walked to this pond as an extension of our hike through the Yokoya Gorge (we started from the Otome Falls and finished at the Oshidori Falls - which are nearby and also worth a visit). You can also go by car, but I wouldn't recommend it. The day we were there (3rd week of October), it was quite crowded with bus loads of tourists, and because the parking lots are quite small, the cars were backed up down the road while people waited for parking spots. The pond is certainly worth visiting. The reflection of the blue sky and fall colours in the pond was quite impressive.

We went on January 1st and onset of winter, the roads leading up to it were icy in a few places so don’t recommend going without winter tires as it’s very risky. It’s not a very big place and it’s ok to visit if you are enroute to somewhere else but not just for this. There were a lot of other cars covered in snow and they have a dedicated large trucks and earth movers parking and a nice public toilet with AC.
Pavan K — Google review
The mirror lake is difficult to reach even by car due to tight turns and narrow one car sized roads. But once there, you can park, use the portable restrooms and walk over to the mirror lake. You can only see it from the side of the road so don't expect to get any closer. It can get crowded but the best place to stand is in the middle to capture the tree and cloud reflections.

Nice viewing of garden and mountain in the background thru the very large windows. The restaurant has relaxing ambience, good service and comfortable seating. Lunch menu is reasonable, although dinner menu is a little pricey and rich in its variety. Advance booking allows you to choose the window table

A very mediocre venue. The food was bland and not made with local ingredients. The atmosphere was sterile. The restaurant had tried too hard to make everything pristine and perfect and forgotten to add any genuine atmosphere.

(Translated by Google) I visited for the first time when I was staying in Tateshina. It's a wonderful place with a view of the Yatsugatake Mountains right in front of you. Everything looked delicious for lunch, so it was hard to decide. The menu changes about once a month and a half. I can see why it's named after the Imperial Hotel. The food was carefully prepared and looked beautiful. The service was attentive. I had a very good time. Unless you have a villa nearby, it's difficult to get there without a car. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that I couldn't sit back and enjoy a glass of wine (lol). I'd definitely like to visit again. Thank you for the meal. (Translated by Google) Visited on Sunday dinner time in July 2024. We received the same course and kids plate as last year. The menu changes regularly, so it's never exactly the same as last year. Again, great food and service. We had such a wonderful time that ☆5 is not enough. Visited during weekday dinner time in August 2023. I made a reservation for the ``Ryujin Pond Shore'' course and the kids plate for 3,200 yen (reservations required for dinner and kids plate). When I made the reservation, I was told that ``During the busy season, there is no à la carte service during dinner time,'' so if you want to eat à la carte, it's best to check in advance. Also, the menu changes regularly, so it's a good idea to check the website, including prices. The restaurant's atmosphere, service, and food are perfect, as it bears the name "Imperial Hotel." Personally, I felt that the quality was more than enough for the price. I think it's mainly used by villa owners, but it can also be used by the general public. You can also bring your children with you, and there are children's chairs available. I am grateful for such a wonderful French restaurant and its openness to accept families with children. In addition, the entrance is like a hotel entrance, so everyone except the driver can get off directly at the entrance, which I thought was a good idea when the weather was bad. There is a 10% service charge. Kuroudo is a charming ramen joint located about 45 minutes from Yamanashi. The restaurant is housed in an old miso storehouse, giving it a unique character. Despite its cramped space and small parking lot, the delicious food more than compensates for it. The menu mainly consists of Kanji, but the steaming hot ramen with various over-the-top topping combinations is a must-try.
Insanely good ramen! Best I’ve ever had by far. My ramen standard has been completely blown out- not sure it’s possible to get a better bowl of tonkatsu. The pork was absolutely delicious and that egg was just perfect. And the staff was super accommodating to my limited language abilities. Very friendly. Could not have been a better experience.

My friends and I drove about 45 minutes from Yamanashi to get to this lovely ramen joint. The establishment is cramped and the parking lot is a bit small but the delicious food more than makes up for it! I couldn’t read the menu very well because it was mostly Kanji but I ended up ordering a bowl of Tonkotsu ramen with garlic, and extra egg, and a side of gyoza. It was probably the best ramen I’ve ever had. The chashu was tender and fell apart in the broth and the egg had been boiled and marinated in soy sauce but had a runny yolk. The broth was amazing! It was salty, rich, but had a slight kick to it. I washed everything down with an ice cold Coke, which was the perfect addition to my meal. When I went to pay it was a bit expensive: Around ¥1,700 for just myself. But honestly, it was worth it. I still think about the delicious ramen I ate at this restaurant and I can’t wait to visit again!

Nestled at the base of Mt. Yashigamine, at an elevation of 1500m, Lake Shirakaba is a picturesque mountain retreat surrounded by birch trees. The 4km-long lake offers a range of outdoor activities including kayaking, canoeing, and horseback riding. Visitors can also enjoy biking along the well-maintained jogging road or try their hand at freshwater fishing for rainbow trout and bass.

Lake Shirakaba has become a tourist destination, but the 3.8km running course around it is a blessing. In summer, university relay teams from all over the country come here for training camps, and bicycle manufacturers' athletes come here, making it a mecca for sports. You'll want to applaud the athletes with familiar team names.

Pre-intermediate skiier here. Good skiing ground for intermediate skiiers. They do have beginner slopes but it rained several days before so they left the beginner slopes unattended, which is a pity. Also the snow is thin.

(Translated by Google) I went to Shirakabako Royal Hill in Nagano Prefecture to go skiing. I headed to the slopes with excitement and excitement. The ski slopes are in good condition as there is more snow than usual. It had been a while since I skied, but I was able to pick up the pace right away, as if my body was still learning how to ski. How long was it slipping... Of course, from sunrise to sunset! ! Throughout the day, we were able to fully enjoy the charm of Lake Shirakaba Royal Hill. Thanks to you, my muscles are sore all over my body! Shirakabako Royal Hill is a wonderful ski resort that can be enjoyed by everyone from beginners to experts. I would definitely like to visit again.

(Translated by Google) Although the slope is compact, it is a challenging ski slope. The snow quality is good and the weather is stable. As posted on the website and social media, it certainly feels like there will be a lot of sunshine. There are also plenty of kicker and rail parks. A ski slope that you will never get tired of. This is a ski resort that everyone from families to advanced skiers can enjoy.

(Translated by Google) It's easy to ski on. It's true that it might not be satisfying for hardcore skiers. I experienced skiing for the first time on a high school field trip. At the time, it was my first time, so I thought, 'So this is what skiing is like. Oh well, it was fun.' The instructor was quite funky, so maybe that made it even more enjoyable. I never imagined that 25 years later, I'd be visiting, not as an instructor, but as a chaperone and instructor for a kids' ski class. Life is quite interesting. The runs are generally wide, so I think it's just the right size for kids to experience skiing for the first time.

(Translated by Google) Despite being a small ski resort, it's a great option for fun. During the day, especially on weekends, it's always packed! The night ski resort is open every day from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm, and there are few people, making it a great place to practice. The place is well-located and easy to access. The only problem is that it's been snowing less each year, and the slopes are getting harder. * It's now March 2024, and I went on the 12th. It snowed heavily all day, and I was able to ski in powder snow almost 30 cm thick. ☃️☃️☃️ It was a lot of fun! If it doesn't rain, the slopes will remain good with enough snow until the beginning of April. Ski resort
Kurumayama Kogen SKYPARK is a winter sports facility that caters to both novice and skilled skiers. This destination offers skiing terrains suitable for various skill levels. During summer, visitors can enjoy hiking on the trails while taking in the breathtaking views. A restaurant is also available on-site to cater to guests' culinary needs. Overall, Kurumayama Kogen SKYPARK provides year-round entertainment for outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure and relaxation amidst nature's beauty.
I hiked this mountain during autumn. The autumn scenery is just amazing, like grassland of Africa (haha, really). You can even spot deers here (the dotted ones). There is a restaurant on the way up where you can try soup curry and bread which is a must try when you’re here.

There is a chairlift that brings you to the top of Mt. Kuruma. If you want to hike from here to the top, it would take a long time(more than 2 hours one-way according to the guide). The chairlift is split into two sections, and it takes about 15 minutes combined. The second section is rather high compared to the first one! It's a bit nerve wrecking as it shakes but it's fun. Make sure to get the tickets before going to the boarding zone.

Nice ski resorts, with just enough of everything - variety of slopes, services in the ski centre and also good access. I would say there are more slopes for beginners than advanced.
Maria B — Google review
Probably one of the best places to ski in shirokaba. Facilities are really up to par with good mix of beginner and advanced runs.
David C — Google review
This resort area is very good for all season. You can skiing in winter and hiking in summer. If you don't like hiking and just want to see from the top of mountain, you just only take a ski lift. But I recommend that hiking is much suitable in this nature.
Hasshi H — Google review
Enjoy the magnificent panorama Get on the mountain lift and in 15 minutes ascend to the summit of Mt. Kurumayama at 1,925m of elevation. From the top you will have an unhindered 360-degree view of the three ranges of the Alps, the Yatsugatake Mountains, Mt. Asama and more. The scenery from the observation spot is truly superb and on Sundays and festivities the lift starts running before dawn so you can see the sun rising from behind the mountains. If you are lucky, you might see a sea of clouds engulfing the valley beneath. In the summer, the gentle grassy hills which form the Kirigamine plateau are covered by clusters of brightly colored alpine flowers, such as yellow day lilies and red azaleas. In winter, the mountain slopes are turned into a ski resort.
Rural J — Google review
Nice highland park for summer hike. A ski lift can take you to the peak where multiple trails branch out. The lift btw is way too safe, slow, and close to the ground that even my 80yrd dad could enjoy it.
Shuli — Google review
Typical tiny ski resort with poor snow conditions. Snow was mostly man-made, so it was icy on the morning and slushy in the afternoon. But access by car from Tokyo is good, which was the main reason we picked it.

Restaurant
Kurumayama Sky Plaza, a restaurant located at a ski resort, offers an extensive and substantial menu. Though some may find the staff's demeanor impolite, the food surprises with its unexpected deliciousness. For instance, the miso katsu bowl features a unique twist with a generous coating of white miso on the cutlet instead of traditional miso sauce. Another standout dish is their crispy Sanzoku-yaki grilled fried chicken.
Cool !

Located at the base of the mountain near the lift. They have a few free parking lot. Inside there's a souvenir store, with some basic mountain gear. A couple of restaurants too.

Meals are expensive and too salty. Yakiniku don had very little beef and rice was mushy. Tempura was too wet and not crispy. However, the view of the ski slopes was great. Would recommend to get food next door instead.

(Translated by Google) Kurumayama Sky Plaza is open in both winter and summer. There is a lift ticket sales booth. There is a souvenir shop on the first floor with a huge number of items. On the left side is a takeaway cafe with soft serve ice cream, small pancakes, waffles, etc. There is also an eat-in space, where you can eat while looking at the ski resort and plateau in summer. On the right side of the store is the Kurumayama Shrine office, where they sell goshuin and stamps of four kinds. The second floor is the main restaurant, which is very large and I think it can seat 500 people. The menu is rich, from slope food to Korean cold noodles, bibimbap cold noodles, teppanyaki hamburger, chicken grill, etc. It is convenient for taking a break or having lunch, and the windows are large so you can eat while looking at the view outside. There is a toilet at the back left of the first floor, but since there is no toilet at the top of Kurumayama, it is better to use it before taking the lift. There are automatic ticket vending machines and staffed ticket booths. You can get a 10% discount if you purchase in advance through ASOVIEW. Just in case, it's a good idea to bring an umbrella or other rain gear. The weather on the mountain is changeable. You'll need to change lifts halfway up the mountain. There's also a restaurant halfway up. There are no toilets, drink vendors, or mountain huts at the summit. The terrace has benches and an open feel. The breeze is pleasant. There are also various photo spots, so you can enjoy taking photos. You can enjoy skiing in the winter, and it can be enjoyed throughout the year. There are also trekking trails, so wearing mountain climbing gear and hiking are also recommended. The trails are rugged, but well maintained.
