Museums
The Otsuka Museum of Art, located in Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, was established by the Otsuka Group to celebrate its 75th anniversary. The museum houses over 1,000 full-size reproductions of famous Western artworks such as the 'Mona Lisa' and 'The Last Supper' by artists like Picasso, Renoir, and da Vinci.
Really enjoyed the museum. We arrived right around lunch time and decided to eat at the restaurant before walking around the museum. Lunch was very tasty and came out quite quickly. The menu is limited though, so if you have dietary preferences, you may want to eat elsewhere first. Lots to see in the museum. We spent about 3 hours looking around, if you’re really into art and analyzing paintings, you’ll need more time to really look at everything.

Visiting the **Otsuka Museum of Art** was such a cool experience! It's not your usual museum—everything is **ceramic reproductions** of famous Western masterpieces, but they're all **life-sized**, so it feels like you're touring the world's best galleries in one place. The **Sistine Chapel replica** was mind-blowing—you can even **take photos** (which you usually can't in real museums!). My favorite was Van Gogh’s *Sunflowers*—so vibrant! The museum is huge (4km of galleries!), so wear comfy shoes. A bit pricey (¥3,300 for adults), but totally worth it for art lovers!
TimBerg — Google review
It has 5 floors of remade art. Its not the real thing. But still fun to observe and see with your own eyes. I appreciate they have arrows on the ground to point which direction you should go. They have many cafes and places to sit and enjoy the view. I appreciate how many chairs were available to sit and relax in. I was there for 5 hours. I would have loved to stay longer. But with time constraints we had to head out. I do appreciate the lighting and the recreation. It makes you want to see the work in person. I hope I can do so one day. I would plan this as a whole day event. But if you are with kids that might not be possible. The Naruto whirlpool tours boat are near by if you want to find something different. Enjoy and take your time.

The Otsuka Museum of Art is a huge Museum that cannot be covered in one day and needs few days to see everything. The collection of reproductions from all periods, starting from ancient history through midevil, Renessainc, Baroque, Impressionist period, expressionist, until modern art is amazing. Highly recommended to any art lover!
Ehud B — Google review
Excellent museum with a lot of interesting painting and presentation. 3300 yen of entrance fees was worth. There were a lot of exhibits and easily 4 hours could be spent here. There is a museum parking located (600m awat) near the naruto sightseeing boat parking. The museum is courteous enough to provide free shuttle vice versa.
Hock T — Google review
This is my favorite museum in Japan. Everything is a reproduction made by transferring ceramic two boards. You can take pictures, you can shoot video, you could even touch them.
L.E. O — Google review
This is a marvellous museum. If you visit Japan, do make an effort to visit this highly unique museum too. It is like this: whilst in Japan, you can tour the most historic and famous tourist destinations of Greece, Italy, Spain and others, all at once. How? They have recreated these places with astonishing technology. The technique of applying every colour to tiles – meaning any colour or image can be depicted on tiles. For instance, the most famous Impressionist paintings appear utterly lifelike, yet they are actually projections onto tiles. Visitors are even encouraged to touch them, revealing they are neither originals nor actual paintings. It is truly astonishing what modern technology can achieve. I repeat, this museum is an absolute must-visit. You will not be disappointed. After all, you can experience famous sights from around the world all in one place.
Max H — Google review
It is a MASSIVE museum with thousands of famous paintings in the world. It would take half a day to explore the entire area. These paintings are not the original ones but very close replicas. They offer some museum tours and it is very helpful for understanding the background of the works. I am not sure if they offer tours in English or other languages, but I think at least they provide an audio tool that explains them. The museum doesn’t just have a great replicas that made from pottery. It also replicates surrounding areas like caves and architecture transporting visitors to different places. Additionally, there is a lovely cafe where you can enjoy some food and drinks related to the arts and the area.

The Uzu no Oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum is a hilltop complex that offers stunning views of the Naruto Strait and features a large onion sculpture. Due to renovation work, the Michi no Eki Uzushio has temporarily moved to a nearby hilltop and operates as Michi no Eki Uzushio in Uzumachi Terrace, offering various island specialties.
20250324 A small stop but I love this place probably because I like onion! Got great view, a few nice onions to take photo with and a lot of onion goods to buy. It was our third stop with these kind of goods but it was the biggest.

If you drive and have enough time then can consider to come here. It is very far and at the end of the awaji island. View is good but no need to purposely come here. Many local visited here and queued for the overpriced onion burger. Many cars over the weekend and jam to enter the car park

A must if you are in Awajishima. The view on Shikoku is beautiful and the restaurant on the 2nd floor is very good with a very nice view (I advise you to directly go there and register yourself, you can then follow the waiting time on your phone). As for the activities, it is mainly just pictures and a nice crane game that cost 500yen, which you will still receive onion whether yo win or not. I STRONGLY advise you to go there at the opening as it is just too crowded starting 10:00.

May 19, 2025 A must-visit on Awaji Island with spectacular views of Shikoku and several giant onions as photo ops. So many quirky onion goods to buy as souvenirs!
Andromeda T — Google review
A hilltop where can oversee the bridge from a distance. Free parking. The souvenir shop sells lots of “awaji onion” related products. Onions planted in this area are more sweet and less spicy. The hamburger booth next to the parking lot is famous in Japan, so I had to wait in a line for 20 mins to enjoy this gourmet. Overall it’s worth to spend few hours at here if you never came before.

Road station Uzushio, also known as Michi-no-Eki Uzushio, is a popular stop for travelers looking to experience the local flavors and culture of Awaji Island. Situated on Naruto-misaki (Cape Naruto), it offers stunning views of O-Naruto Bridge and the possibility to witness the powerful eddying current in the strait. The station is renowned for its original award-winning hamburger, made with ingredients that showcase the region's culinary prowess.
Nice views from Awaji Shima across to tokushima, Shikoku. You can see the uzushio whirlpool from a distance. It’s quite amazing. The toilets in the rest stop are modern and clean. There’s a lot of wide parking space. There’s a gift shop there with local products and produce like the famous onions from Awajishima. There’s a lot of local stuff for dogs too which is great for dog lovers to buy a gift or let your dogs enjoy. Did not see Awaji dog products after this. A nice pit stop on the journey from Shikoku to Awaji.

Spectacular view with restaurants, a museum and souvenir shops. Great place to hang out and to dine in with the perfect scenery! This place is a must visit if you are in Awaji!!

A small roadside station, but it offers an amazing view of the Naruto Bridge and the Naruto whirlpool in the distance. The Awaji beef burger and onion burger are a must-try, though I did not get the chance to try the onion ice cream. The souvenir shop sells plenty of Awaji products, including a variety of Awaji onions, and even offers free self-service tastings of onion soup. The interior is narrow and can feel very crowded on a weekday, probably due to the start of school holiday. We had planned to visit Uzu no Oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum, which also serves onion burgers (same brand), but the traffic jam there was terrible, so we ended up here instead, with a smaller crowd. I would love to return in cooler weather if I have the chance.

Very beautiful place. Nice to get the view of the Naruto (thus is a little far away) and buy some souvenirs. Loses a star because the ice cream does not have any taste at all.

The sunset sky, the Seto Inland Sea, and the onions shining dully in the setting sun were an exquisitely beautiful sight, and I captured it in a photograph. It was only a brief moment on a whirlwind tour, but I felt like I wanted to visit again and take my time.

Whirlpools Cruise

Embark on a unique adventure with the Whirlpools Cruise, sailing through the Naruto Strait to witness the awe-inspiring natural phenomenon of whirlpools. The strait, located between Awaji Island and Shikoku, is renowned for its powerful tides that give rise to some of the most impressive whirlpools in the world. On this retro sailing ship, you'll have an open deck vantage point to marvel at these natural wonders up close.
Wonderful experience of the marvels of nature. Ticket prices are reasonable ¥2500 per adult for this 1 hour cruise excursion. There’s many cruise timings per day but there’s only certain timings that have strong chance of the whirlpool. You can check their website and buy tickets directly online which is better than buying tickets upon arrival since you may not get tickets. Easy to exchange the tickets at the counter with the QR code. The parking area is across the building so it’s a bit confusing but the place is small so you can walk over easily. Descriptions on the cruise is only in Japanese so if you don’t understand Japanese, it could be hard to get deeper information about the phenomenon but it’s still ok to go explore this. Interesting that there’s multiple whirlpools happening simultaneous, as I thought it’s only a big one. There’s a small but well stocked gift shop there with local & regional products. Suggest you guys to shop while waiting for the cruise as you should arrive 30 min before cruise starts. After the cruise many people rush to shop, especially tour bus tourists so it’s crowded.
ML — Google review
New experience to see Naruto whirlpool. I checked the forecast on the website , bought tickets in the machine tickets and walk to the pier, got warm welcome from staff , in the boat they had a lot of Japanese, only me is tourist. Used time around 45 minutes, staff speak only Japanese.
Cherry J — Google review
Recommended to book your cruise ticket online 1 day in advance and check the forecast for the visibility/size of whirlpool. You can also purchase at the counter, subjected to availability. Arrive at least 30mins before your cruise departure time. If you have bought your tickets online, exchange for physical tickets at the counter. Ensure your phone/camera has secured straps or they are securely fastened to your selfie sticks. The captain will steer the ship near the whirlpools and there is a narrator speaking in Japanese who will tell you where the whirlpools are. The cruise is about 45mins. Unisex toilet is available. Overall it is an enjoyable cruise and you will get to see Naruto whirlpools (naturally occurring) that is a result of the exchange of warm and cold water currents.
Larry K — Google review
It was a wonderful experience...i had fun...there werwn't a lot of people which is great but maybe because it's winter and price is reasonable...they even have a tatami room below deck...
Kristyl K — Google review
There are different boats leaving the center. Check the schedule and whether it coincides with the peaks of whirlpool activity. Usually that would be in the morning or late afternoon (impact of tides). The cruise is ~1 hour duration. Thus if the whirlpools start to wane by 11am for example, you would not want to take a 1030h cruise. It takes about 25-30 minutes to sail out of the harbor to Naruto bridge. This is our opinion. There is no doubt that being close to the whirlpools in a large ship is one of the safest option. But with a good camera and timing you can still take great pictures of the swells.
Mel M — Google review
An interesting yet exciting cruise . Cost of the cruise is reasonable and waiting time too was acceptable. Downside was, feeling a little unsafe as no life jackets was compulsory during the cruise but maybe thats just us land lovers . There are two types of cruise....one on a big boat and another on a small one. Each at a different port. We chose here with a smaller boat as its nearer to the looking glass bridge above.
Aryl S — Google review
I have a very good experience in Whirlpools Cruise. I booked a trip marked with a good whirlpool scale in advance. On that day, we went there at around 10 with cold weather and sky started raining. The staff from the cruise immediately prepared hand warmer and raincoat for every visitor. The trip on the cruise was never bored. When we set sail, staff on land pick up some large paper hand to wave and say good luck to us. They even prepared water cannon to salute to the ship. During the trip, they have arranged a guide to introduce the surrounding area and history of the whirlpool. On the upper deck, the ship got a heated room for those who feel cold and wanted to enjoy the view indoor. Others like me can walk around the ship and watch the beautiful scene and amazing waves under the bridge. The tide under the bridge was the cause of those whirlpool. Although it is an amazing view, it is also hard to observe a significant whirlpool like what they have showed in video. Nevertheless the whole trip is very enjoyable and it is a must go activities if you visit Awaji Island.
Javin Y — Google review
We followed a day trip with the local travel agency. I'm not sure about the entry fee. The whole trip takes about an hour +, and the cruise guide converse in Japanese. There is no translation or information on board about the whirls pool. You get to see the whirling pools up really close, and the ship will turn around for each side of the passengers to see it. Such a phenomenon cause by 2 different currents, so whirlpools occur. There is queue for public and separate fees to pay for adults and children. There are many timings for cruise ship in a day. There is a small museum about the wildlife, video and photos in basement level inside the cruiseship, same direction as going to the washrooms. Is good to bring children to see the phenomenon.

Awajishima Onion Kitchen is a popular gourmet burger spot located in Awaji Island, known for its delicious burgers made with hefty rings of locally grown Awaji onions. The menu features a variety of mouthwatering options, with prices starting at 770 yen and above. Visitors can enjoy their meal in the indoor or outdoor seating areas, and there's also a car park available outside the store.
The Awaji beef onion burger was super delicious! I originally came for the onion burger, but the Awaji beef impressed me even more. The patty was grilled perfectly, with a smoky aroma and rich, flavourful taste. The onion ring was also very tasty. We had to wait a little for our order as there were more people than I expected for a weekday, probably because the summer school holidays had just started. I had planned to visit Uzu no Oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum, which also serves onion burgers (same brand), but the traffic jam there was terrible, so we ended up here with a smaller crowd. This area is very well-known for its onions. Accordingly, this place offers a wide variety of onion-based hamburgers. They weren’t bad, but I was expecting more onions, if that makes sense. There was a very long line because it was during New Year’s but that’s nobody’s fault. The onion ice cream was interestingly good.

Delicious burgers and good view of the Naruto whirlpools, but get there before 11.30 am or you will be waiting in line to order for a while.
Les L — Google review
Probably just my lack of experience with Japanese burgers, but that word apparently doesn't have to mean a hamburger patty. The burger that I had, the onions were the main event, and there was a pile of shredded meat on top of that. That may sound like I didn't like it, but I loved it! Onions are the thing here, of course, and the onion rings and onions on my burger were incredible. The lemonade that I got had a bunch of lemon zest bits in it, which was also new to me and I was surprised how much I liked it.

Awajishima Onion Kitchen is a popular spot on the island, known for its delicious burgers featuring Awaji beef and sweet onions. The beef burger stands out with actual beef pieces, fried onions, raw onions, and mayo/tomato sauce. Despite the long lines on weekends, it's worth the wait for this unique burger experience. The onion rings are crispy and sweet but may be served cold at times.
Waited in line for at least 30 mins to get the best burger on the island because another store was on rest day, basically everyone just rushed to this only store opened. We ordered beef burger with onion, lemonade, onion rings and beef croquette. Beef burger was not just ordinary burger you had elsewhere - it was actually beef pieces (instead of beef patty) with fried onions, raw onions and mayo / tomato sauce. It was super tasty. Onion rings are crispy snd sweet but were cold when served. Lemonade wqs refreshing after eating so much deep fried / oily food. Beef croquette was served hot with creamy potatoes inside, kinda running I would say. We later returned the store to try icecream and yoghurt too. It was made with local dairy. Icecream was smooth and rich in milk flavours, the acidity of yoghurt drink at the bottom made a good balance with the sweetness of icecream on top. Recommend trying if you visit Awaji Island!

So glad I made it just before they closed for the day! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had the onion gratin burger 2h after I bought it (due to the long journey back to osaka) but it was still yummy. So were the onion rings. Would love to return some day!

(Translated by Google) It was a fun experience. There are various onion souvenirs and sculptures, making for fun photo opportunities. You can stroll around the area and find various photo spots. The burgers were delicious, and the onion milkshake had a unique spicy flavor. Even on a Monday, it was crowded, and there was a long wait to park in the parking lot right in front (parking is free). I recommend parking in the temporary parking lot (also free) before your destination and walking up the hill for about five minutes. Yakiniku restaurant
Barbecue restaurant
Arii-tei is a must-visit yakiniku restaurant on Awaji Island, known for its excellent value for money. Despite the need for reservations and occasional wait times, the delicious Awaji beef and special roses make it worth the effort. The establishment's long-standing reputation and commitment to quality are evident in their attentive service and friendly staff.
A local Yakiniku restaurant, their staffs are very helpful and friendly, even we speak different language. Really appreciate. I will go back again because of their service. The place is comfort and cozy. Car park is located on the front door side. Reasonable menu price and top quality of meats. Don’t forget the onion.

(Translated by Google) Entered the restaurant around 17:30 on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Ordered salted tongue ¥950, top loin ¥1,350, special belly ¥800, handmade sausage ¥350, assorted grilled vegetables ¥200, Chinese cabbage kimchi ¥150, spicy tendon soup ¥490. Menu prices Everything was cheap, but the portions were small except for the soup. The meat was especially delicious, and the sausage was cut into rings from the beginning, so it had a texture and taste closer to fish sausage than it did to be crispy and juicy. The spicy tendon soup was more sweet than spicy, and was delicious in its own way. There was a vacancy this time, so I was lucky to be able to enter the restaurant without even walking in, but I think a reservation would normally be required on this date and time.

(Translated by Google) I went there after an acquaintance recommended it! It's a great value restaurant that requires reservations. I was looking forward to it because it's a yakiniku restaurant frequented by locals. I'd read some reviews saying that the service differs between locals and tourists, but the food was served quickly and the service was great. The meat was tender and delicious! The sauce is a flavor that seems to be a matter of opinion. It's soy sauce-based with a strong dashi flavor, so it might not suit miso fans... It went well with the fatty cuts. We went on a Saturday just after 5pm, but customers kept coming in and it quickly filled up. By the time we left, there were customers waiting. I recommend making a reservation! We ate a lot for two people and it cost about 8,000 yen, so it was a great deal! It's a great place when you want to eat cheap, delicious meat!

As it was 5pm on a weekday (opening time), we were the only group inside the restaurant, and two other groups arrived a little later. The yakiniku was very good quality and delicious. The staff are all family members, so even small children were helping out, creating a great atmosphere. The Akita dog outside is on a leash to keep it from escaping, but since people sometimes smoke outside, please don't litter it. I stopped by the Road Station Awaji, and I have to say it was an okay experience. Firstly, I'm not particularly fond of bridges, but I must admit that the Awaji Bridge is truly impressive. The architectural marvel and the scenic views it offers are remarkable. As for the Road Station itself, it served its purpose. It provided a convenient rest stop with some basic amenities. You can find restrooms, a place to stretch your legs, and a few stalls selling local snacks and souvenirs. It's a practical pit stop for travelers passing through the area. While it may not be a destination in itself, Road Station Awaji does offer a brief respite and a chance to admire the magnificent bridge. If you appreciate engineering feats and want a quick break on your journey, it's worth a visit. However, it may not be the highlight of your trip if you're not a fan of bridges or looking for more substantial attractions.

I went here a day before my birthday. Since October is Naruto’s birthday, if your birthday falls on Sept or Oct, you can request for a birthday sticker and stick it on your shirt and the staffs will wish you. As a Naruto fan since childhood, this place is the only place I really wanted to visit when I came to Japan and it didn’t disappoint at all. I bought the tickets from Klook and the process was very direct. To get there, just follow google map but once you reach to the station and it’s walking distance to the Naruto park, better take Uber to cover the walking distance. There were no clear signs where to go and stuff and Uber was reasonable priced and go to parking lot F. And vice versa when you getting back, just use Uber to the bus station. Everything was so good here, I really enjoyed my time. Truly made me so happy. The missions and attractions. It was small but it’s very nice. And the Ichiraku ramen, you MUST eat it here. It was so yummy, just wow. Overall if you’re a Naruto fan, you’ll really enjoy it. I really loved my time here.

A kid friendly #theme park for anime lovers. It is a huge park with lots of activities. Some of the parks are quite expensive. However, even if you do not join these activities it is still a nice place to visit and enjoy nature since it is a huge green park with a nice playground. It has a small pond for kids to play and enjoy hot summer days. For parents, l recommend you to bring a small tent or chairs with parasol. Although vending machines are available, l suggest for you to bring your own drinks. There was not an entrance fee, and there was plenty of parking space. Also, you can access there by complimentary shuttle service.

Huge park space with endless walkways. If you like nature you can enjoy a long time here with the whole family. Many people having picnic or running about here on the weekend. As it’s a natural environment there’s many insects!! In autumn I saw so many spiders! Freaky for me but maybe interesting for some people. It’s good to immerse yourself in fgs vast nature. Akashi Kaikyo National Government Park is a beautiful park set on the mountain on Awaji island in Japan. It is built of concrete and has tiered boxes of planters in cubes terraced up the mountain side with different varieties of flowers and plants in each cube. There are also tiered, water fountains and reflection pools clad in thousands of shells at the bottom. There are many stairs, but you can take several of the elevators up to the top. It wasn’t very busy when our bus tour came there in the morning. Tropical plants and pampas grass was swaying in the breeze from the nearby ocean. The elevators do not go to the very top of the garden, but there are stairs if you want to see it from the very top. I liked the curved, mirrored animal wall with its white and gold creatures in flight inside one section. At the very top it is certainly breathtaking and had lovely views of the ocean. I have definitely never seen a place like this in my life before! The flowers were still in bloom in October as well. A very peaceful, pleasant experience and there is also another large park at the bottom that, unfortunately we didn’t have time to see, but it did look lovely from above!

This park is BEAUTIFUL and was one of our favorite places we visited in Japan. This is a two ish hour bus ride from Osaka. If you need a break from the business of Osaka, I highly recommend visiting here. Even if you don’t need a break, I recommend it. It is fairly easy to get to (just use Google Maps for transportation) and you could spend the entire day here. The pedal boats were especially fun, and you can feed the koi fish.

Very very pretty flowers for about a month in April-May. The fields aren’t actually as big as they appear in photos though. In reality it’s just slightly disappointing. Not a lot of places to sit or much shade and just kind of an old park. It was a nice visit overall though

By far the most amazing flower/landscape park in Japan I visited and I visited many! Huge territory very well maintained, exquisite landscaping, lots of various flowers and plans (of course Spring and Fall are the best seasons), lots of benches and spots to admire, wide sea panorama, low price, nice not expensive hotel nearby for a overnight stay, which is recommended. Excellent!🌟

The Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge is a remarkable suspension bridge that connects Kobe City and Awaji Island, spanning the scenic Akashi Strait. It holds the distinction of being one of the world's longest suspension bridges, offering tours to its exhibition center and top. Opened in 1998, it was once the longest suspension bridge globally at 3,911m.
I have visited Akashi Kaikyo Bridge on multiple occasions. I vividly recall the thrill I experienced during my initial crossing through the glass platform situated underneath the bridge. From this vantage point, we were able to observe the sea below, with boats passing directly underneath. Additionally, we witnessed engineers conducting their inspection shifts, driving through the lower stage of the bridge. The experience was truly remarkable.

The Akashi Kaikyō Bridge also called the Pearl Bridge, is one of Japan’s greatest engineering marvels. It Connects Kobe (Honshu) with Awaji Island, spanning the Akashi Strait in Hyōgo Prefecture. the Total length 3,911 meters (3.9 km). The main span is 1,991 meters, making it the longest suspension bridge span in the world (a record it still holds). Height: Bridge towers rise 283 meters above sea level. Opened: April 5, 1998. Before the bridge, ferries carried cars across the Akashi Strait — a dangerous waterway with strong currents and storms. In 1955, two ferries sank in a typhoon, killing 168 children and adults. This tragedy pushed Japan to build a safer permanent crossing. Construction took 10 years (1988–1998) and used advanced earthquake- and typhoon-resistant technology. The 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake struck during construction, shifting the towers apart by 1 meter — engineers adjusted, and the bridge was completed successfully.

A very interesting tour of this impressive bridge. The tours are run by former engineers and crew of the design and build of the bridge so they are very knowledgeable. Your trip will start with an orientation and safety briefing. All items you will bring with must be secured by lanyards to you. They will provide you with everything that you will need before heading out on the tour. Once your orientation is completed, you will head down to the bridge construction exhibition on the main floor. Following your tour of the exhibitions you will make your way out to the bridge promenade. From the promenade you will enter into the maintenance area beneath the traffic surface. The walk from the promenade to the support tower is approximately 1.4kms. Once you arrive at the support tower, you will head up by way of a maintenance elevator built into the core of the tower (from floor 17 to floor 98). Making your way through the support tower core and onto the observation deck on top of the tower will require moderate mobility. They do confirm that you will be able to navigate this portion of the tour before allowing you to proceed during the safety briefing. The views from the observation area on top of the tower is amazing to say the least. The view is well worth all the work to get up there and well worth the cost of the ticket.

Located in a picturesque setting with breathtaking views of the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, おさかな共和国 えびす丸 is a grill serving delicious seafood rice bowls and conger eel. Despite being a popular tourist spot, this eatery offers affordable prices without compromising on taste and freshness. The grilled oysters, although inexpensive, are perfectly cooked and tender.
Simple small restaurant to have our fresh fish and oysters. We find the food not bad and it is quite reasonably cheap for the oysters.

(Translated by Google) This is a fresh seafood bowl restaurant located inside a roadside station. It's probably famous for its raw whitebait. If you go at lunchtime there's usually a long line, but since I went in the evening this time I was able to eat without waiting. The food is so fresh and delicious! The deep fried octopus was also chewy and delicious! Being able to see the Akashi Strait up close is amazing!

(Translated by Google) I ordered a bowl of raw whitebait from Awaji Island in November 2025. Ordering is done via a touch panel. You collect your order when your number is called, and then return it to the return counter when you're done. A regular portion is 880 yen, and a large portion is 930 yen, so I went for the large portion. It was delicious and had no fishy smell. However, when I had it five or six years ago, it had a refreshing citrus-flavored ponzu sauce. Tea is self-service.

(Translated by Google) The octopus tempura was crispy on the outside and plump on the inside, making it very satisfying to eat. The sea bream with egg on rice was also fresh, and when eaten with the special sauce, it was a luxurious taste! Orders are prepaid and all self-service. It's set up like a food court at a service area on the highway. Your number is called and you receive your meal when it's ready, so it's perfect for those who want a quick meal. I took one star off because it can be a little difficult to find a seat when it's busy, and because it's self-service, some people may find it a little hectic. But overall I was very satisfied! I recommend this restaurant for those who want to casually enjoy fresh seafood from Awaji Island.

Are you looking for a complete and elaborate dining experience? Well, Kitora is not the upscale establishment you might desire for a romantic date night. However, it offers satisfactory fare that will suffice if you're simply seeking a quick and satisfying meal. The restaurant boasts an inviting atmosphere and talented chef who prepares delicious seafood dishes. Additionally, their prices are reasonable, making it an accessible option for any budget-conscious diner.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. Food was great, service was lovely, and everything was reasonably priced! :)

Authentic taste and friendly service. If you’re staying at the Grand Nikko Awaji or just discovering Yumebutai you should dine here for dinner they open at 5pm. There’s a big selection of foods choice from tempura, udon, Awaji local beef in different ways, grilled, sukiyaki, shabu shabu etc, sashimi or seafood bowls and more. Prices are reasonable and even locals dining there so I think quality and price should be ok. The drinks are self service such as tea, onion soup , coffee but it’s a bit diluted. Service is friendly and food served very promptly. Quite an enjoyable dinner time and it’s linked by a walkway to level 2 of the hotel so it’s very convenient otherwise it’s very dark outside after 5:30pm and you can’t find your way easily.

Masazushi, a sushi restaurant located by the roadside station, offers a delectable and refined dining experience. Despite its initial appearance of being pricey, the quality and taste of their sushi surpass expectations. It presents an elegant alternative to ordinary conveyor belt sushi establishments. The location itself is remarkable, providing a scenic view of the renowned Akashi Kaikyo Bridge.

Masazushi is remembered as a light house in the darkness for hungry sailors that evening. We were traveling from Kobe by train to the station on the other side of Awajishima. We walked around parks at the waterfront. Our plan was to have dinner at Awajishima. However, it was extremely confusing to find a way to cross the bridge. We learned how to catch the bus to get there, but the challenge started after we reached the next bus stop. No taxis and no bus at all. We were waking and walking and walking down to get to the village. Then we reached the place where I wanted but that place was fully occupied. It was already dark. We never gave up and found Masazushi. 🥳 The omakase course there is immaculate. Most of all, I recommend ordering extra uni and sea eels. The restaurant people heard our little adventure tale, and the pretty waitress said that she would feel obligated to drive back to the bus stop, and she did. I love their hospitality and their state of art food.

The sushi made from local fresh fish is the freshest and the best. Awaji Hanasajiki is a breathtaking park located on Awaji Island, celebrated for its stunning seasonal floral displays and panoramic views. Spanning 15 hectares and perched at an elevation of about 298 meters, this vibrant garden showcases a kaleidoscope of flowers throughout the year. Visitors can revel in the beauty of tulips and daffodils in spring, sunflowers and cosmos during summer, followed by autumn's rich salvia hues.
The scenery is still beautiful even though there weren't a lot of blooming flowers when we visited. I also love how the paddy/ flower art was designed by children! It's free admission but you can patronise the souvenir shop and purchase local specialties. P.s. the public toilets here were spotless.
YJ K — Google review
The view here is beautiful, with flower fields spread across a hill overlooking the sea and the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge in the distance. It is not a full sea of blooms and not large in scale, but it has its own charm. I visited in late July and literally melted walking under the scorching sun, even with an umbrella. Parking costs 200 yen, and admission is free. There is also a restaurant and a souvenir shop selling Awaji produce and local specialties.

After a quick stop at the Aikashi-Kaikyo Bridge, we decided to visit this flower park. The park was well-maintained and wonderfully peaceful. The flowers were beautiful. We spent an hour in the park. Parking was cheap (200 yen) and the restrooms were very clean. The park itself wasn't expensive, but the bridge toll made it a short and expensive visit (2,410 yen times 2).

Awaji Yumebutai is a massive complex that includes a conference center, hotel, and memorial to the 1995 earthquake victims. Designed by Tadao Ando, it sits on the site where land was excavated for Kansai International Airport. The area features stunning gardens and buildings that celebrate water and light, as well as Japan's largest greenhouse. Visitors can admire the fantastic landscape and appreciate the architectural inspiration from Ando Tadao.
Awaji Yumebutai is a truly unique and peaceful place. The stunning architecture and beautifully landscaped gardens blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings, creating a calming atmosphere. Walking around the site, you can’t help but feel inspired by the design and the views of the surrounding landscape. The contrast of modern structures against the lush greenery is striking, and it’s a perfect spot for a quiet stroll or to simply take in the beauty of the area

Fascinating architecture by one of the greatest contemporary architects. Don't miss the greenhouse! It's a miracle in fine gardening. Also nice for kids, there are plenty of beautiful little spaces for them. The other buildings show signs of aging, but that doesn't diminish the perfect blend of landscape gardening and modern architecture on a rehabilitated piece of land.

Worth the trip. The indoor garden is inspiring and the outdoor structure is equally impressive. Heavy use of concrete to form artistic courtyard and fountain and stairs and viewing platform. Even though the weather was humid and hot, we managed.

Nice resort, made by Ando Tadao, in a great location and view. The room in the hotel are wide, much more than usual Japanese hotel (European 4+ stars hotel standard). Clean, calm and beautiful. And great place.

The architecture gardens were very cool, it would be amazing in spring with more flowers. The combination of urban structure and nature is fantastic.

A rather large but well-maintained complex, great for a stroll if the weather is ideal. Admission to the greenhouse costs 750 yen so we skipped that, but the step terrace (there is a lift) is adorned with beautiful flowers. I'm not an architecture buff but I thought overall this was a meaningful project by Tadao Ando - the land where this complex stands was originally a wasteland, due to the soil excavation needed to fill the artificial island where Kansai airport is built on.
YJ K — Google review

What a gorgeous place!! The architecture is fascinating! Although there are signs everywhere letting you know where to go, it feels like a maze because of the layout of the facility. Every angle of this place is so cool. The step gardens are beautiful! I must go again on a sunny blue-sky day. And definitely in the spring when I assume all the gardens will be full of bright flowers! The botanical museum was also so interesting! There were SO MANY kinds of flowers and almost every one of them was blooming!! What blew me away the most was their displays of carnivorous flowers! SO COOL!!! HIGHLY recommend making the trip if you can!! You could easily spend 3+ hours wandering this place. Parking is confusing at first because the Google map marker I used for navigation was placed at the stupid street intersection 🤦🏽‍♀️ if you're driving, turn in towards the main facilities (i.e. away from the sea), then go straight into the tunnel-looking entrance. It's a parking garage. There are a couple different exits to above ground so it doesn't really matter where you park in the garage.

The entrance fee was rather cheap (around ¥600) which was surprising because the flora displays were so beautiful! Though the indoor portion of the garden is small, it offered a beautiful selection of flowers arranged in unique ways. There is also a rose garden outside which is a perfect place for children to run around. At the end, we bought some of the onion potato chips at the gift shop, which were very delicious. I strongly recommend trying them!

Hello Kitty Smile is a large entertainment complex that is entirely Hello Kitty-themed. It features restaurants serving fresh island-caught food and offers Hello Kitty afternoon tea with views of the Seto Inland Sea. Visitors can enjoy a projection mapping hologram theater showcasing 15 minutes of Hello Kitty cuteness and have the opportunity to meet the special princess Hello Kitty, exclusive to this park. The facility includes a visually stunning restaurant, an adorable souvenir shop, and opportunities for photos with Hello Kitty.
Our family had an amazing time at Hello Kitty Smile, Awaji Island! My wife, our two kids, and I truly enjoyed the variety of activities available—everything was fun, interactive, and perfectly suited for children. Parents can also participate and help their kids complete tasks, making it a great bonding experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ensuring that visitors had the best experience. The place itself is beautifully designed, making it a dream destination for Hello Kitty fans! The only thing that could be improved is the food options to better cater to Muslim visitors. It would be great to see more halal-friendly choices in the future. Overall, it was a fantastic visit, and we highly recommend it to families looking for a fun and memorable experience!

We did the Hello Kitty Smile and Apple House experiences because the wife is a huge Sanrio fan. Buying tickets in advance, we thought we would breeze though - proved not to be the case. Plenty of parking, but you may have to walk (8 min for us). There were no separate cues for those who prepaid versus those still requiring payment which was honestly annoying and opposite of every other site/activity we took part in during our stay in Kansai. Inside was pretty awesome, but again the queuing was pretty bad and was quite stuffy. The unfortunate part was due to this, we were unable to take pictures with the hime Hello Kitty. Moving on to the Apple House, it seemed more coordinated and quick overall. Honestly, it's the epitome of a tourist trap and something to do if you want to burn time.

One of the places for girls and women alike... If you are a huge hello kitty fan. Do visit, there are things to see and photos to be taken. One of the best thing here is the photo taking session with the hello kitty which wasn't that long queue. About 5 minutes or so. The only bad part is the shuttle busses and public bus are limited here. There is also a restaurant at the side of the museum. I find the food 7/10 for my taste.. not the best but it's fine
Soh Y — Google review
The ticket pricing is high, considering what you are paying for. The only offerings inside are rhinestones displays, kitty wall art, mirrors, and digital art. Hello Kitty does make an appearance, which is a plus! As an adult and a fan, I was underwhelmed. However, my 5 year old daughter was thrilled by the experience. You can get a parent and child ticket for 3,000. I personally feel that it’s a money trap! It’s a place to buy overly priced food and ridiculously priced Hello Kitty merchandise.

Izanagi Shrine, located on Awaji Island, is a prominent traditional place of worship that honors the Shinto spirits Izanagi and Izanami. The shrine enshrines Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto, the couple gods of Japan's creation. Visitors can explore the 'Meoto Okusu' in the precincts of the shrine, known for its association with marriage harmony and good match fulfillment.
One of the oldest shrine in japan. There’s also a delicious choco vanilla ice cream at the souvenir shop when i dropped by while cycling the awaji island. Be sure to visit and pay respect. Definitely recommended to visit on any season.

Such a fabulous place to visit on Awaji Island! Incredibly picturesque, with pond, flowering plants, multiple structures, tea ceremony. Tickets for tea ceremony. Large grounds. 2nd parking lot across the street. Kakurai kiosk with original tea ceremony ceramic work (near tea ceremony). Cafes across the street, beach 5 minutes away.

My friend said its the oldest temple in Japan and its belong to the caesar family. There is a very old japanese cedar tree that age over 900 years. Consist of many tree and now only left 2 trees. The shrine itself age almost 1500 years. Beside the history itself there is nothing to see here.

Said to be the oldest shrine in Japan (and the roots of the Japanese nation). But even if it’s not, it’s lovely here. Come and be inspired by nature, find peace and pray.

For people interested in Japanese mythology, this is a must-see. It's a small shrine, doesn't take long to see, and there's a good atmosphere. It's a 30m drive from the highway, but it's a pleasant drive. Of you want to start your stamp collection there, their booklet is beautiful.

Ocean Terrace is an oceanfront grill featuring a spacious terrace with stunning sunset views and live jazz performances. During the summer, guests can enjoy a unique steak experience as the chef personally selects premium beef from Awaji for self-grilling on custom-made lava stones. The Awaji Beef, sourced exclusively from Tajima Cattle born on Awaji Island, offers exceptional marbling and a tender texture, resulting in rich flavors and a melt-in-your-mouth experience.
Around 2550Y for this lunch set. Quality and taste are 10/10. I cannot recommend this enough. For 2000Y more, 12/10 rating.

When I lived in Awaji I used to go a lot to this restaurant. It's a bit on the expensive end of price range but it's definitely worth it. You can enjoy a variety of meat there that either the chef will cook for you or you will cook on your own barbecue style" depending on the what you order. With that comes an all-you-can-eat buffet which has, again, a lot of variety. For people who are not easily sated with the portions you get in Japan, that's the place where to stop ! Also you will have the pleasure of enjoying a very nice view (I would recommend you to go for lunch and see the sunset from there) of the inner sea of Japan. The staff is very nice and they sometimes have people speaking English but they will do their best to accommodate you anyway. If you are in Awaji, make sure to stop by Ocean Terrace!

(Translated by Google) I ordered Awaji Beef, Awaji Beef, and Awaji Beef Fillet, and in the comparison, Awaji Beef was very tender, not greasy, and very delicious! I also had the Awaji beef fillet, which was also tender and went easily with a knife, so I think it's easy for people of all ages to eat. Baking it yourself is a little difficult, but I had fun doing it! The staff was quick to notice things like refilling drinks and bashing us, so we were able to enjoy our meal slowly and happily! Also, I visited at dusk, and I was able to see a very beautiful sunset, so I was very satisfied!

(Translated by Google) We ate buffet style. While it was a bit of a hassle to grill the meat yourself, the quality of the meat was excellent. In addition to the main course, steak, they also served a variety of fried dishes, curries, stir-fries, side dishes, and desserts like ice cream. If you're still hungry, I recommend trying them as well. The interior was also stunning. The entrance was reminiscent of a European garden, and the bull-shaped sculpture, the Tyrannosaurus rex statue, and the fireplace were eye-catching. Also, the waitress, whose name I don't remember, spoke Korean fluently and was very friendly, which made me feel good. Finally, I was so full that I ended up eating more than I could eat, leaving a lot to be desired. Thinking back, I still regret it.

Japanese restaurant
The restaurant こゝちよ offers a range of delectable delicacies such as Blowfish, spiny lobster, and conger eel in a simplified setting. Accidentally stumbled upon while searching for dining options near Honpukuji Temple, this Michelin-starred establishment caught attention with its mouthwatering menu. The hamo course (pike fish) was particularly delightful, showcasing meticulous attention to detail in both taste and presentation.
I know in Osaka, even in Awajishima, it is almost impossible( or rare to find) to find the restaurant that specializes only in Hamo. The way owner chef is cooking, deep frying, steaming, boiling, grilling is exceptional, incredible. Most of hamo restaurant has only one or two method of cooking Hamo. Owner chef is a true master of Awaji Hamo! You can enjoy Hamo as much as you can imagine here. Also i know Hamo is 100% wild-caught, hard to farm-raise. I’ve had hamo in Korea before, but nothing compared to this hamo. What is great to me is that all hamo used in the dishes are wild-caught near Awajishima. It was absolutely exquisite, mind-blowing. The most perfectly cooked Hamo i’ve ever had. Also i liked how the sauce, broth are not overpowering like it sometimes can be, but it was light and fragrant. Awaji Hamo is so nice and meaty, juicy, bouncy, a bit earthy. The soup broth is so refreshing. Whatever you imagine, the hamo will be beyond your expectation in terms of texture, method of cooking, perfect quality of hamo, etc,.

Found this place on accident when I was looking for places to eat near Honpukuji Temple. Saw that they had one Michelin star and everything looked quite tasty so we reserved two seats. We tried their hamo course (pike fish). It was delicious! Great attention to detail and taste in both the food and service. Great portion size as well...my mom and I asked to skip the last dish (porridge) because we were so full! Would recommend if you are in the area and looking for something a little more special!

Cafe
Circolo is a relaxed seaside cafe on Awaji island that offers large burgers and Italian espresso. It caters specifically to cyclists and boasts the best espresso on the island. Situated on the seafront, the cafe provides outdoor seating under shaded areas where patrons can enjoy their coffee and cake while gazing at the mountains of Wakayama in the distance. The owner is proficient in English and readily assists in suggesting local attractions.
May 18, 2025 Huge burger as the only item on the menu but it was oh so good. A ¥1,800 yen set comes with a cola or tea for free while you can choose other drinks for a small amount. The patty, sausage, pickle and most importantly the onion was super well seasoned and juicy til the last bite. The flower was also edible. I’ve never tasted such a sweet onion and it was my first meal on this island. We sat outside and the breeze was just right in May weather! Ah I miss this spot again already when I’m back in Tokyo now… Cash only.

Nice waterfront cafe with a vegan option. This is a place targeting bicycle lovers, they also have a very convenient parking space for cars and bikes. The menu is limited to one normal meat hamburger and one vegan hamburger. Vegan hamburger is well made, but In my honest opinion suffer of two minor issues. 1. The burger bun is far too hard to be a suitable burger bun. It tastes good but is more suitable for hard content panini than a soft patty burger. I would suggest to use a soft bun for burgers and use this nice tasty bred to make panini. 2. Filling is a little bit too unbalanced towards onion. It makes it tasty but heavy. I would prefer 25% less onions and put a bit more of lattuce, cucumber and vegan mayonnaise. Espresso is Italian Illy, it tastes good. Even the brewing is not Italian style but more Japanese style. Still one of best expresso on the island (after that of Marumi Shokudo) Location is amazing, service fast. They also have a few outside seats They speak English too. And a cute sleeping dog in the shop makes a relaxing atmosphere

The burger is AMAZING but.... The menu doesn't say what's actually in the burger (I don't like pickles or mustard) and the staff looked at me funny when I asked for water (I don't like Oolong Tea but there was no 単品 option so you have to get a drink). The "Set" doesn't even come with fries and considering the set is roughly 1,700... Not justifiable (without a little fries). The burger is good... But 1,700 good? Idk. I probably won't go back again but the staff and the view were pretty nice.

1500Y for a high quality burger and a tall soda/tea. I arrived 20 minutes after opening but the place was already packed (JAN). It seemed like a one-man operation so the wait time was understandably long. The guy who runs it spoke good English to explain the burger as he was handing it to me. Parking is easy to find but limited. 10 stars for the dog.

The low-key cafe offers a variety of dishes including burgers, pasta, and delectable desserts made from farm-grown strawberries. The facility is wheelchair-friendly and provides an enjoyable experience for families, with instructions available in English for those interested in booking in advance.
Tucked up along the hill a bit so you need a car to get here but definitely worth the drive. Place seems to grow a lot of their own vegetables and fruits on the property which they serve at their restaurant here. Food is simply amazing and the view from the restaurant is so peaceful and the overall vibe is very relaxing. Looks like they change their menu a bit depending on the season but the tomatoes I had here during my visit in July were so tasty. Highly recommend!

If was after this strawberry picking session that we came up for lunch at 12pm. The food was so good, especially the tomato carbonara which my son wanted more. A lovely place for a whole day visit with kids 💕 It's vast and mostly open - too hot for summer and ideal from Autumn to Spring. A bit of everything everywhere: animals 🐎 🐑 🐹 🐇 🐨 🦘 🐢 🦎 and flowers here and there, beautiful views and scenery, workshops: making bread, candles, woolen toys; harvesting 🍓🍅🍆🥔, Swan boats 🦢 (roof protects from sun/ rain), go-karts 🚘 for 2 people (140cm and above can drive themselves, below 140 are passengers only), other amusement activities for little ones and adults; food, drink vending machins, toilets everywhere. Connecting cute shuttle train. The prices are reasonable as it goes to taking care of animals and a vast territory, you can just pick up and pay for what you are interested the most 👍.

Nestled atop Mt. Mikuma, the Sumoto Castle Ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into Japan's storied past. This partially restored stone castle complex dates back to the 16th century and served as a strategic base during the tumultuous Sengoku period through to the Edo period. The impressive castle walls showcase traditional Sengoku architecture and are remarkably well-preserved, earning it recognition as a national historic site.

Thrill-seekers will love the zip line that lets you soar through the air, while those looking for hands-on fun can engage with authentic air guns and participate in various workshops to create unique souvenirs like incense and candles—local specialties from Awaji Island.
Nice place from outside with a sea view. It opens up to 5:00 PM. There is a shop outside the park where you can buy Onions, garlic and Japanese Sake in cheap price. To visit the park it costs 1600 yen for adult and 800 yen for little one. If you go in group the cost may be below.

VERY NOT WORTH THE PRICE BETTER NOT GOING CAUSE ITS ONLY A WATSE FOR TIME AND MONEY the ticket is only for admission, and all of the others cost you 400¥ above for each
Maru T — Google review
The rating reflects having zero kids while visiting. The day pass is the best bang for your buck because of the unlimited rides for most attractions. Regular admission is not worth it even with a lot of opportunities to take photos of model buildings or characters. The shooting range is outdated and expensive at 1000Y but is fun regardless. The maze is actually difficult. For parents with young kids, this place is definitely 5/5 with the day pass.

Very cool! The miniatures are very nice. Great for family. They charge more for other attractions

It was a great place for kids to play. The outside area was also really nice. It seemed like a fun place to spend time with the family.

I went with my mother to the "Kanetaka Kaoru Travel Museum". "Kanetaka Kaoru Travel Museum" will be closed in February 2020. I was able to learn about cultures around the world and her greatness. I was able to feel the history from her photos taken with Albert Schweitzer. Folk costumes range from very beautiful to simple. I saw the Masai`s shield for the first time. I was very impressed with her achievements that introduced the cultures and customs of the world. Right now, we can get information about the world. But she released the information 60 years ago. The Japanese were able to learn valuable foreign cultures, albeit slightly. By the way, the quality of ONOKORO`s attractions is too low.😭😭😭

It is a fantastic park with beautiful places to play and take excellent photos. We enjoyed a lot of activities with our kids. The cost is a little high. We visited it in Golden Week and enjoyed the fresh, refreshing air. Highly recommended 😘😘

The Hokudanshinsai Memorial Park pays homage to the victims of a massive earthquake that struck in 1995. It features a restaurant and various multimedia exhibits showcasing the history and impact of the Kobe earthquake on the local area, including an earthquake simulator. The museum is located on the Nojima fault line, which highlights land drift caused by earthquakes. The exhibition provides extensive information about the devastating Great Hanshin Earthquake, revealing how Awajishima was also affected by this natural disaster.
Shortly: A must see memorial if you are interested in earthquakes
B T — Google review
The ticket is a little bit expensive, but is worth to come. You will know how japanese feel and react to earthquake. they build this to not forget what happen in the past and remind all people to prepare, but not to afraid, for the potential earthquake in the future. I go there because of recent news/prediction and would like to know more about previous earthquake. I appreciate Japanese attitude on living/facing with earthquake. I will still visiting Japan.

Full of information about the Great Hanshin Earthquake I didn't know that Awajishima was affected that much. It's very inspirational and very educational. Worth sharing my experience

Museum on the history of the local impact of the Kobe earthquake and the fault line that runs though this area. Has an earthquake simulator where you can experience it while in a living room. The museum was built on the Nojima fault line and preserves the land drift which can be seen.
Wilberto L — Google review
Great place for learning about the Great Hanshin earthquake in particular and earthquakes in general. Must see if traveling through Awajima.
Martin T — Google review
Somber and educational memorial/museum to the Awaji/Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995 at what is basically ground zero - the Nojima fault line. Well-made displays are very informative and educate in an easy to understand format (i.e. seeing the actual shift in land, showing effects of earthquake within a house). Lots of photos, relics, etc. It's not exactly a place that is to be enjoyed but I left much more informed about the relationship between earthquakes and Japan.

Miketsukuni is a charming red-brick warehouse turned cozy restaurant that offers a unique atmosphere and spacious dining area. The menu features delicious beef dishes, sushi, and seafood, with the famous fish bowl being a must-try. Visitors can also enjoy a fresh salad bar and family-style meals prepared using local ingredients. The restaurant's old factory charm adds to the overall dining experience, making it an enjoyable place for families. Additionally, convenient parking is available across the street from the restaurant.
Very nice place, the staff is nice as well. Their kakigori is definitely worth it!
Alexandre N — Google review
A nice casual restaurant housed in a historic brick building. There’s many food options there but they are all mainly set items. You can’t really order just an ala carte portion. We wanted to order sets and additional stuff but it was not available. The salad is refillable so you can go to the counter for more. Not really much service except they bring you the meal after they take the order at the table. You get your own drinks from the counter too. After the meal you pay at the counter. The food was very good. We had the beef options and enjoyed them. Pricing is above average I think but the quality is not bad. Try the Awaji island beer too, it’s refreshing. There is also a small area of souvenirs but very well stocked with all kinds of local products. If you want something of a light bite, there’s also a burger, ice cream fast food kiosk out in the front but when we were there for a late lunch the kiosk seemed closed. A very close restaurant to the Sumoto bus Center. Walking distance 5-10 min and it’s a good option for tourists. When we went on a weekday late lunch there’s hardly anyone.

Conveyor belt sushi restaurant

(Translated by Google) A high-class conveyor belt sushi restaurant that is local to Awaji Island and uses a wide variety of ingredients from Awaji Island. The menu includes high-quality fish such as striped horse mackerel, wild yellowtail, sea bass, tiger puffer fish, and flounder. The sushi goes around in a revolving lane, but the most popular items are gone before the sushi goes around once. I was told that they are basically prioritizing the lane, and that it takes time because they are putting orders on the back burner. Therefore, it would be better to limit your order to things that are not circulating in the lane, such as soup. The miso soup came out quickly, but I ordered the Awaji Island onion salad and waited about 30 minutes for it to actually come out. The rotating style, the style of ordering on paper, and the style of counting the plates at the end are becoming a little rare these days, but I personally think it's great that they stick to this rotating style. However, it was a bit too popular, and even though I was prioritizing the lanes on this day, there weren't enough sushi to replenish the lanes, and the sushi going around quickly ran out. You can use various credit cards for accounting. I went in at the same time the store opened in the evening, so there was no wait time, but it seems that people who couldn't get in at the time of opening had to wait for about an hour.

This branch doesn't have a sign to write your name on, so you have to line up. And although the sushi is delicious, the prices have gone up quite a bit since I was last here. The rice has also gotten much smaller, so it's not as good value for money. The taste is still great, though. It's a bit disappointing... (Translated by Google) I had my expectations set too high. I think whether a restaurant tastes good or not is a personal preference, and I try to avoid restaurants that I don't think are tasty, so I don't often have the opportunity to write harsh reviews, but I'm concerned about the hygiene, so I'll write one. First of all, the soy sauce bottle looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. The soy sauce was definitely oxidized and pitch black. The order slip still had soy sauce splattered on it, and while it may be a waste, I wish they'd throw it away if it was dirty. The pencil handle was sticky all over. The salt had hardened and wouldn't come out, and the outlet was blocked. As for the sushi, it might have been the timing, but the rice was soggy and the fish wasn't handled well. I went because I'd heard it was a famous and delicious conveyor-belt sushi restaurant with several locations on Awaji Island, but maybe this particular location just wasn't great. There were some tasty toppings, so if I go again, I'll look forward to it. The most delicious thing I thought was the tuna and yam yam! It was sticky and mixed well with the rich flavor of the tuna. I don't usually write harsh reviews, but I was concerned about the hygiene aspect, so I decided to write about it. 。

(Translated by Google) After evening on weekends, there can be quite a wait at some very popular restaurants. Price is high I thought I might be able to eat some local fish, so I went there. Overall a normal conveyor belt sushi restaurant My impression was that it was expensive. The average price is about 300 yen per plate. Too bad the limited edition seafood arajiru was sold out! ! The salad rolls were unexpectedly satisfying and I added one more. I think this is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant that will satisfy families with children. If you go with only adults, I recommend going early. Because popular topics will disappear.

If you're on the hunt for a unique culinary adventure, Uomasu Suisan is a must-visit destination! This charming spot specializes in fresh grilled eel, offering an authentic local experience that you won't want to miss. The process is a bit unconventional: first, you'll purchase your eel from their shop and then take it next door to a restaurant where they will prepare it alongside rice, miso soup, and pickles.
Delicious fresh grilled eel! If you want to have it with rice, you have to buy the eel first and then take it over to a restaurant next door, and hand it over to them. They will then prepare it to be eaten with some rice, miso soup and pickles. You will need to pay extra for the rice at the restaurant, on top of what you paid for the eel at the shop. A little confusing, but worth it. We paid 1080 yen for 2 eels with a bottle of sauce and 800 for 2 rice sets.

The bill is the same day and night, so it's quite pricey for lunch, but reservations are often booked up, mainly with regulars. The chef himself is very friendly and unpretentious, and the sushi is top-notch, so I recommend it for those with the means.
