Maizuru Port Tore Tore Center Roadside Rest Area is a popular stop located at Kyoto Maizuru Port, known for its extensive fishery base. It features one of the largest seafood markets in Japan and offers a variety of services for travelers. Visitors can explore the market to select souvenirs or enjoy fresh seafood for lunch. The area also provides sightseeing and highway information for those exploring the Maizuru region and its surroundings.
If you love seafood, this is the place to be at! Very reasonable prices for the quality you pay. I watched an episode of Japan Hour which featured this place in 2020 and have been wanting to visit ever since and boy was I glad and excited when I stepped foot into it today on the 24th day of November 2023! I spent a total of 7500 yen for the king crab and assorted seafood which had prawns, scallop, octopus, squid and puffer fish. Really enjoyed the food and the stall holders were all very friendly and made effort to communicate with non Japanese speaking tourists.
Brandon Y — Google review
This wasn’t the plan but dropped by on the way back to Kyoto. Tried one giant oyster for $700 yen.
Caroline T — Google review
A fun stop if you like seafood (you'd be in the wrong country if you hated it actually lol). A large seafood market, with various stalls selling a variety of seafood cuisines ranging from skewers to rice bowls. Prices here seem decent (compared to where I'm from), where fresh seafood 🦞 🍢 can cost an arm and leg. Quality is far superior, and unlike seafood markets in other countries, sellers aren't as aggressive or hustle as hard. Neither do they slip in slippery tricks to swindle customers, which I truly appreciate. The place is clean and does not smell bad, which easily adds to the enjoyable ambience. Sellers are aware most people here are out of towners, and spend a fair bit of effort communicating prices and fares to non-Japanese. Quite a few locals eat here too, so it can't be that much of a tourist trap. Overall, a great place to easily spend an hour just eating and browsing.
YJ — Google review
A nice but rather small fish market. Sells many things from raw seafood to processed seafood and also local souvenirs. The raw seafood such as the oyster and clams are very fresh and are really good. Not a lot of restaurants within the market complex, but there are seats where you can buy fresh seafood and eat at.
Johannes W — Google review
A great local fish market, also open to tourists. I got huge oyster and cerntfish there, both were fresh, good, and cheap. Might be better to visit in the morning, but it still fun to walk around afternoon. The restaurant inside was okay. I recommend to see around the fishshops and ask to cook, then snack whatever catches your eyes.
Kazu N — Google review
For the price that one pays for a maizuru port crab (bbq + sashimi), one could get an entire premium meal at kani doraku honten in osaka that serves crab that is much sweeter, more flavourful and cooked in a variety of ways. Didn’t get to try the hamasaka prawns (with blue eggs) sashimi but had the same type of prawn for dinner the night before and they were really sweet (better than botan) and it might have been better to have the prawns (and maybe oysters) instead.
Lo — Google review
Good place to visit to whom likes seafood! You can eat-in (there is a space to eat) and also buy raw fishes (and cook later). Rock oyster and lobster are popular in the summer season.
Hiroshi K — Google review
Fresh seafood served on rice. Taste superb without any funny smell that you might encounter numerous market. Recomended.

Goro Sky Tower is a prominent steel structure standing at 347 meters tall, offering breathtaking views of the city and sea from its observation room. Resembling an airport control tower, it is located between Higashi Maizuru and Nishi Maizuru along the shoreline. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of the town below from the 301.2-meter-high observation tower and relax in the warm and welcoming café. Accessible via a bus to Mt.
Fantastic wide view of Maizuru and surrounding area. Definitely good place to stop and you can get a good workout if you’ve up to walking or biking to the top.

Worth the drive to the top. Excellent views from the area outside the tower. A quick trip and a small fee (150¥ to 300¥, see the picture of my ticket) gets you to the top in an elevator. Stairs are available if you so desire the exercise. Great views from the top of the tower, even on an overcast day. Small giftshop and Cafe on site for souvenirs and food.

Astonishing clear skies and Sea of Japan from the tower that waiting to be discovered. Hidden treasure of Kyoto. The curry and pancakes were amazingly delicious and the atmosphere was so refreshing. However the hill was way too far away from the station that taxi ride was preferred. Free parking provided.

Only ¥300 to go up the tower. You can take the elevator or also walk up and down (very easy). Also great views from just outside and hiking possibilities. Beware of bears, bees and snakes it says on the signs.

The Red Brick Museum, housed in a renovated naval warehouse from 1903, offers visitors a unique experience centered around the history and industry of bricks. The museum showcases the significance of bricks in various civilizations and architectural wonders worldwide. From learning about brick production to exploring famous brick-built structures, this museum provides comprehensive insights into the world of bricks. Additionally, it features a collection of historical bricks from iconic global landmarks like the Berlin Wall and Auschwitz.
They're awfully proud of being a museum that showcases bricks 🧱 and bricks only. Give it a chance and you'll see why. Whatever you thought you needed to know about bricks 🤔🧱, they have it. How bricks are made? Why bricks are important to civilized societies? Which famous architectural buildings around the world 🌎 feature bricks? Which famous Japanese buildings are made of bricks? Why bricks are the size that they are right now? What are the different ways to lay bricks to build a wall? What are the different brick related puzzles like tangrams you could play ▶️ with? All in all, a wonderful place to learn a whole lot more about this non-assuming item.

Interesting museum close to the harbor! It shows a lot of history about red brick buildings around the world as well as Maizuru as Naval Base City in Japan. Tips: buy a Maizuru One Day Pass for 1,000¥ and you can freely enter public places, including this museum, plus return by bus on certain routes.

Unusual little find. We are from Portsmouth which is twinned with Maizuru as we donated a brick from Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. As we were in the area, we though it fitting to go and find this brick. Quite a quirky little museum, it has bricks from all over the world, and also from significant historical buildings such as Auschwitz. Would have stayed longer if we had time.

An oddly interesting museum in the coastal town where Japan's Coast Guard members receive their training. It has a showcase of famous historical buildings from around the world that used brick as a primary building material (with samples); well-known structures within Japan; and a collection of bricks from historical event structures like the Berlin wall, Auschwitz, Philadelphia Hall, etc. Better than we expected. Built in an old navy warehouse once used to store torpedoes. Other buildings on the grounds are being converted into shops and restaurants.

Ine Bay Sightseeing Boat offers a unique way to explore the picturesque bay area, with cruises providing stunning views of wooden homes and moorings seemingly floating on the water. The 12-minute boat ride from Amanohashidate Station to Ichinomiya Dock is a convenient option for experiencing the expansive pine groves and appreciating the scale of Amanohashidate.
One of the most fun activities for kids (and adults!) during our day trip to the seaside Kyoto. We took the 3.30pm boat and it started raining as we boarded. Despite the rain, the seagulls still came for the snack and we stayed at the lower deck at first. The rain stopped halfway through the ride and we moved to the upper deck to continue feeding them. My family and I had a great time being so close to the seagulls. Do be careful though, as there are many droppings on the upper deck. The view of the charming funaya (boat houses) was a bit farther than I expected, but still nice to see from the water. If you are driving, make sure to park near the shore. The inner parking lots belong to a different company.

📍Ine Bay Sightseeing Boat, Kyoto ¥1200/adult Our tour guide got the tickets for us. There were toilets (long lines), and souvenirs at the dock. Others managed to get breads/feeds for birds. Seagulls and eagles came, swooping down to snatch food it was awesome. They were huge tho. Lovely weather that day, everything was beautiful. Def worth it.
Astrow T — Google review
The Ine Bay Sightseeing Boat is a peaceful and beautiful way to experience one of Japan’s most charming hidden gems. As the boat glides gently across the calm waters, you get up-close views of the iconic funaya – traditional wooden boathouses lining the shore. The scenery is quiet, timeless, and almost surreal, especially when the sea reflects the sky like glass. If you’re lucky, friendly seagulls might follow the boat, adding a playful touch to the ride. It’s a short but unforgettable journey that lets you slow down and soak in the quiet beauty of rural Japan.
Steven D — Google review
Do not miss out on this activity in Ine. We enjoyed the short boat ride while feeding the seagulls and an eagle. You can also see the boathouses from the sea. Do buy some shrimp crackers to feed the birds.
Travel T — Google review
If you are in Ine, do this!!!! Inexpensive and so much fun! But watch out for birds as the ey crowd the boat because people feed them. I wish I could go a second time! The olive ice cream at the boat stop was amazing too. So creamy and such high quality olive oil!
Julia S — Google review
Great experience in taking the boat to view Ine fish house. Don't hesitate to buy some snacks shrimps to feed the seagulls. It is really fun
Jean D — Google review
The bay itself is pretty but the boat tour if the bay is completely unnecessary, and I love harbor cruises. This one is very short and they allow people to feed the seagulls so in order to avoid being pooped on you need to stay on the bottom which kinda defeats the purpose. Like I said, completely unnecessary. We had more fun walking along the docks.

I chose the special ramen and splurged a little, choosing the special set. But... sorry, it didn't suit me at all. Even before I even considered the taste, everything was incredibly salty. If it had been just one dish, I'd suspect some kind of mistake, but the ramen soup, fried rice, and fried chicken were all just plain salty. I live in a prefecture with one of the highest salt intakes in Japan, and the shortest life expectancy in the country, so I should have a pretty good tolerance for salty food, but perhaps this level of seasoning is standard in the Maizuru area... Incidentally, the next day in Tsuruga, I ate some delicious Echizen soba noodles and a sauce-fried pork cutlet bowl, so I don't think there was anything wrong with my palate.

The kitchen is visible from the counter, and it's also immaculately clean and tidy. The ramen was brought out about 10 minutes after I ordered, and I wanted to take a photo with it and the fried rice, but the fried rice took a while to arrive, and I didn't want the noodles to get soggy, so I started with the ramen first. The soup was light, but had a strong flavor and the soup clung to the noodles well. The noodles were thin and straight, about 1.5mm to 2mm thick, and this thinness is a perfect match for salt ramen... The coarsely ground black pepper also added a nice accent. The toppings were a thin piece of pork, a small amount of bean sprouts and green onions, and half a boiled egg, which felt a little lacking, but I guess that's to be expected for a set with fried rice for ¥1,170... However, the boiled egg didn't have much flavor and just tasted like a regular boiled egg, which was a shame. The fried rice was lightly seasoned, but you could still taste the egg? It had a very gentle flavor and was enjoyable without adding any extra sauce or anything else. Also, it's a restaurant I'd definitely like to stop in at if I'm passing by, so I'm giving it four stars.

It seemed like the parking lot was shared with the laundromat next door. 🚗 They have a wide variety of ramen, including soy sauce, miso, salt, and tonkotsu, so why not try some to find your favorite? They also have fried chicken, fried rice, and gyoza. I think the food is delicious. 😁👍 They're open late, which is also great. 😚 A single bowl of ramen costs less than 1000 yen, but a large serving or a set can easily exceed 1000 yen.

They're apparently famous for their exceptional ramen, but maybe because I was drunk I wanted something a little spicier, so I ordered a small bowl of fried rice, which is said to be comparable to the Akamushi Ramen. The Akamushi Ramen was a hit with my palate! 👍😋 The moderate spiciness and back fat soup made it the perfect final dish! Adding a generous amount of grated garlic halfway through gave it a more mature flavor and made it even more delicious! 😋👍 The fried rice, on the other hand, had a nice crispy texture, and even though I was full, it was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it!! This is a really well-made ramen. And at 1,180 yen for this, it's just too good to be true! It seems like it's even cheaper with some kind of coupon, so if it were nearby, I'd go at least twice a week! Seafood restaurant
Sakana Terrace is an unpretentious eatery that offers a diverse selection of fresh seafood dishes, both raw and cooked. This establishment serves as a fish store and a side dish store, providing customers with a wide range of options. While most of their prices are reasonable, some may be slightly higher. The quality and freshness of the seafood are commendable, as they ensure that all meals are prepared to perfection.

We enjoyed a la carte dishes and drinks, and not only was it delicious, but the portions were also amazing! The sashimi serving for two consisted of four slices of each of five different types, and the locally grown rock oysters were large and creamy. I was also surprised at the size of the simmered oysters! I was very satisfied. Each time, I visited various seafood restaurants, but this was the best. As I've noticed with restaurants in Maizuru City in general, lunch is a good deal, but dinner is quite pricey. While there seems to be a wide variety of sashimi, it's often thinly sliced, lacking texture, and isn't very satisfying. While many restaurants are like this, this restaurant offers a variety of fish for sashimi, simmered fish, and fried fish, and the dishes are tailored to the ingredients, so I enjoyed it. The prices were reasonable. However, it's a restaurant where you can really enjoy Maizuru seafood. On the one downside, the seating is table and counter seating except in the tatami room, and it's rather high, perhaps due to the cafe terrace vibe, making it difficult to sit or feel comfortable. I'm sure they're trying to increase turnover and create a stylish atmosphere, but while it might be good for couples, it might not be quite right for families. Amanohashidate is a 3.6km sandbar renowned for its stunning scenery, beaches, and countless pine trees. The area surrounding Amanohashidate offers an extensive pass valid for unlimited rides on various modes of transportation including trains and buses. Yosano Town and Kyotango City are known for Tango Chirimen, while Miyazu City boasts attractions divided by Amanohashidate.
A small amusement park-ish kind of a place with a great view! The lore and legend of the place is great so be sure to do the custom of looking at the islands through your legs because apparently it brings good luck! The view is amazing and very romantic. The town beneath it is small but it has lots of stores and local stuff for you to check out. The chair lift ride is actually fun, especially going down as you can see the view of the islands. Overall its a fun place to visit even with kids. If you want a less crowded attraction to go to then this one should be on your list.
HapiTravels — Google review
Amanohashidate truly lives up to its name — “the bridge to heaven.” Stretching gracefully across the blue waters of Miyazu Bay, this 3.6-kilometer sandbar lined with thousands of pine trees feels like something out of a painting. Whether you walk, cycle, or view it from above, every angle offers a sense of calm and wonder. From the southern hill, the view from Amanohashidate View Land is breathtaking — the sandbar appears like a floating path connecting sky and sea. Locals say to look at it upside down through your legs (matanozoki) to see it as a “bridge to heaven,” and it’s easy to see why. The rotating bridge adds a charming touch, gracefully turning to let boats pass, symbolizing the gentle pace of life here. A speed boat ride beneath it adds a spark of excitement, giving a fresh perspective of the pine-covered stretch and the surrounding mountains. Quiet temples like Chion-ji, cozy cafes, and the peaceful rhythm of the sea make Amanohashidate not just a scenic spot, but a place that soothes the soul.

Small town, very quiet. Everything is closed around 4pm. Taking the chairlift to see the amazing view of the famous sandbar. Rent a bike to bike across the park, make a few stops to take in the fresh ocean breeze and dip your feet in the cool water. Such a relaxing place to spend for a vacation. Highly recommended since it's only 2 hours train ride from Kyoto. However, that would take us away from the overly crowded city vibes of Kyoto.

I went with my baby and toddler, absolutely worth the visit. We arrived at 2:30pm which is quite late for this location since the attractions close at 5pm. There is not enough time to enjoy and walk around the place if you arrive after 12pm. You can put your baby or toddler on your lap and ride the chair lift up the hill. We took a ride drom kyoto straight to amanohashidate station costing a fortune for 3 adults and 1 child reserved seats (36400 yen) round trip.

Castle
Nestled in the scenic Nishi Maizuru area, the Tanabe Castle Ruins offer a glimpse into Japan's storied past. Originally built by Hosokawa Fujitaka in 1579, this historic site is renowned for its remarkable defense against an overwhelming force of 15,000 troops with just 500 soldiers. While much of the original structure has faded away over time, visitors can still appreciate the remnants and explore the beautifully maintained grounds that include a charming garden.
A neat stop while in Maizuru. The ruins are of a former castle which now house a museum, open green space, playground equipment and ponds. The museum is 200¥ and is self guided. Recommend checking out this neat little piece of Maizuru's history.

Very suggested the visit of the little museum inside, 200 ¥ for a little jewel full of emotions. A little park where you can enjoy a little bit of history. Very nice! Near the Main Street a fantastic place to spend some time

It is an interesting place for history buffs, as it is the castle where Yusai, who joined the Eastern army in the Battle of Sekigahara, endured a siege for over 50 days against a large Western army in a preliminary battle. The cherry trees on the east side of the park are nearly half in bloom, adding a touch of beauty to their beauty in the morning light. Maizuru Park is also known as Tanabe Castle Park, as it contains the ruins of Tanabe Castle (田辺城纪). It is a designated cultural property of Maizuru City. In the late 16th century, Oda Nobunaga's retainer, Hosokawa Yusai, was ordered to conquer Tango Province and build Tanabe Castle. Afterward, Hosokawa's retainers planted over 100 cherry trees within the castle grounds, making Maizuru Park a renowned cherry blossom viewing spot today. Maizuru is slightly cooler than Kyoto, so most of the Somei Yoshino trees in Maizuru Park haven't yet bloomed. You'll have to wait to see them. Only a few Kawazu-zakura trees are in full bloom in the open space, adding a touch of color to the otherwise dull landscape. Japanese restaurant
Bongu is a local establishment with only three branches, offering a diverse menu that goes beyond typical chain stores. This eatery stands out for its delectable seafood dishes and particularly delicious grilled mackerel sushi, which makes for an excellent souvenir. In addition to their seafood options, Bongu also serves mouthwatering pork cutlet udon noodles, soba noodles, desserts, and various other items reminiscent of a cozy family restaurant. Despite receiving a modest rating of 3.
Large fresh selection of Japanese food that won’t disappoint! Nice service, spacious seating and reasonably priced. We ate there 2 days in a row. Loved the unagi and Katsu-don.

Good tempura, good sashimi, good noodles, and good service. It is not fair that this restaurant just got 3.6 point rating. Comment from Hong Kong.

I had seen reviews about popular curry rice? But was disappointed because it was most a noodle shop. The sign does say udon. But I read many reviews. Maybe the menu changed. We waited nearly 30 mins to be seated (just two People) but I could see the counter was completely empty when I used the restroom. Maybe they were understaffed, but we waited outside in the heat most of that time. Once we were seated, I wanted to order the tempura and cold soba set but it wasn’t being sold that day? I asked if that meant tempura was sold out… and no, tempura was fine. So I ordered tempura udon instead. They did accommodate an “all vegetable “ tempura order as I’m allergic to shrimp and I got a ton of veggies. I was very happy. The broth was good too. We also got the chicken nanban set with oomori (big size) rice. The side dish was not good, but the soup was good. Also the cabbage salad served with the nanban was pretty small and sad. The waitress brought us two tiny teas after the long wait outside, but no pitcher. We stole one from an empty table. They had a lot of menu options, but service was not so great. At least we could pay with credit card.

We stopped here because there seemed to be a bit of parking in an otherwise crowded area. We were here at lunch and it wasn't so crowded. There is additional parking behind the restaurant. My husband wanted to eat 'kaigun curry' the famous navy curry and this udon restaurant also served it so he was happy. I ate udon and kara-age don and it was okay. Nothing really to write home about, but I was also able to eat curry tempura. This place is an izakaya, but the whole building is non-smoking, even in the night time. We were seated in the back so I could lay my baby on the zabuton. There is a kid's menu and at lunch they have specials and other lunch menus. I don't think they have an English menu, but I was overall satisfied with my experience.

(Translated by Google) Sashimi and Tempura Set + Udon Set 2,280 yen Large Rice: 120 yen, Large Udon: 110 yen Total: 2,510 yen I've been here before, but I'm not sure if it was always like this. First of all, the sashimi. The seared bonito was mushy, and the tuna was on the same level as Sushiro or Kura Sushi, or even worse. It was a bland, light-colored tuna with lots of stringy veins (lol). Please take a look at the picture. I went in right after they opened, around 11:10, and the rice was lukewarm and yellow! You can see what I mean, right? It was lukewarm and yellow, like rice that had been cooked the day before and kept warm. The udon noodles were listed as hand-made, but they were all uniform in thickness and perfectly sized, so they looked like they were frozen. The tempura wasn't bad, but it was no different from Washoku Sato. Also, the price is high considering the tablet ordering and self-checkout system, which doesn't require additional labor costs, and the price doesn't reflect that at all. I think 980 to 1,280 yen would be reasonable for this. It seems like a one-hit wonder place catering to tourists, so I probably won't be going there again. This is just my personal opinion. Orders are made by selecting and submitting your order on a tablet screen, but there were so many options and I wasn't sure what the restaurant's signature dish was, which was a bit confusing. This time I ordered the Local Fish Seafood Bowl "Kiwami" and a Tempura Platter. With the Seafood Bowl, you can specify your preferences, such as: - A la carte or udon set - Type of rice (regular, sushi rice) - Amount of rice (small, regular, large) - With or without wasabi - With or without grated yam The Tempura Platter had a wide variety, which was a nice touch. To be honest, neither of the two dishes tasted particularly special, but I was able to enjoy the seafood just right and it became a fond memory. History museum
The Maizuru Repatriation Memorial Museum, situated near National Route 21 and a short drive from JR Higashi-Maizuru Station, commemorates the return of Japanese citizens from overseas locations after World War II. Over 540 artifacts and records are on display, including the poignant Shirakaba Nisshi (Birch Diary) with 200 poems written on birch bark.
Balanced explanation of Japanese soldier and civilians repatriated from the colonies and occupied states after the war and the life under Soviets labour camps, with real and well-preserved exhibits that might not be leant from the history textbooks. Quite far from the town centre so better travel to this museum by car or taxi.

Great place to learn what happened to the soldiers after the war
Dark K — Google review
This museum tells you about the repatriation of the Japanese who were sent to Russia during WWII. It gives you an insight about their point of view in limited English. The museum tells about the terrible and harsh circumstances the Japanese has to endure in -30 °C in Siberia, for example. But there's absolutely no word about the cruelty and numerous war crimes of the Japanese themselves during WWII. There's no accountability of their roles of the extreme and terrible things they did to human kind that actually explains why they were sent off. So, because this museum lacks explaining about the Japanese part and the war crimes they have committed, this museum doesn't give you an honest, truthful and complete history lesson. There's free WiFi, so you can use your Google translate by the way.

There is a combined ticket for the Red Brick Warehouse, but I didn't have much time so I decided to just visit here for 400 yen. To the left of the entrance is the exhibition hall, which displays details about the lives of those who returned from Siberian prisoners of war. To the right is a special exhibition, which was a valuable opportunity to get a real feel for what life in the gulag was like, rather than the caricatures it portrayed. For a World War II memorial museum, the exhibits are on the smaller side, so you can see everything in just about an hour. You can also get a good view of the repatriation pier from the observation plaza. 80 years have passed since the end of the war, and as those who actually experienced it are gradually passing on, it is our mission to ensure that the tragic history of the past is not forgotten and to pass it on as a legacy. Most of the exhibits focus on Siberian internment, but the longing for the mainland, where it is not easy to return, is clearly conveyed. You can experience the harsh conditions of the exhibition's Siberian Lageli dormitory, with snow constantly falling outside the window. The Imperial Navy Memorial Hall, situated within the Maizuru Sokanbu premises, requires visitors to check in at the entrance. The absence of a dedicated parking lot necessitates the use of surrounding parking facilities. Notably, the bike parking area is conveniently located near the entrance. This museum exhibits a wealth of valuable materials associated with the former Navy, providing visitors with a unique glimpse into its history. The lecture hall deserves special mention for its exceptional quality and ambiance that leaves one speechless.

(Translated by Google) I visited using the parking lot of Red Brick Park and walked for about 20 minutes. After being politely greeted by the gatekeeper, we climbed a little hill to enter. There are a lot of exhibits, and the bulletin board has detailed information, so I was able to thoroughly learn about the history of the Maizuru Naval Base, which dates back to the early days of the Imperial Navy. I've also been to the Veterans Academy on Etajima, but that one had hourly tours of the grounds, so I was disappointed that I had to rush to the last educational reference museum (which is inevitable), but here you can tour the museum at your own pace. I think it took over an hour 🎵 On the way home, I had lunch at Mizuho Shokudo. Alcohol will also be served at the welfare facility for members at night. It can also be used by visitors. I think there are many people who don't know about it. As you go down from the memorial hall, you will see this building behind the gatehouse. You can only order one plate of ``Naval Curry.'' It's an old-fashioned, simple curry, but that's what's good about it 😄 It had a lot of ingredients and was delicious (hot potatoes) 😀 💴It was 1.200-. Kongo-in, also known as Momiji Temple in Tango, is a stunning temple located in the eastern part of Maizuru. The temple features a three-storied pagoda and a main hall that are both worth visiting. Although it was still a little early for the leaves to turn, there were a few tourists here and there. The three-storied pagoda looks great against the autumn leaves... A long time ago, when I wanted to visit the flower temples by myself, I gave up after getting there (it was too early). This time we will be using a bus tour, so it will be easy and comfortable. I'm glad I was able to visit calmly. thank you. Kirakuya is a delightful culinary gem that offers an impressive array of dishes, from succulent grilled meats to fresh sashimi and mouthwatering pizza. The atmosphere is inviting, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions. While the prices may not be the lowest in Maizuru, the quality of food makes it worthwhile. You can enjoy half sizes and platters, allowing you to sample various flavors without overindulging.
This place is small but the food is amazing. Not a lot of English but Google translate solved most of our problems. I knew what I was ordering and it tasted delicious!

(Translated by Google) The food is very delicious. From grilled foods to fresh fish such as sashimi and pizza. The pizza was irresistibly delicious! I couldn't stop at one piece and ended up eating three pieces. I don't think the prices are cheap in Maizuru, but the atmosphere is nice. However, I asked my part-time worker twice to take a photo of the alcohol label, but he didn't take a photo of the alcohol label, so that's a minus. Ramen restaurant
If you find yourself in Maizuru, make sure to stop by 熱烈らぁめん, a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable ramen experience. This cozy spot is conveniently located just off the Maizuru-Higashi Interchange on the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway, making it an easy pit stop for travelers. The star of the menu is undoubtedly their spicy ramen, crafted with rich chicken stock and soy sauce that creates a depth of flavor you'll crave again and again.
This place rocks!! The chef is a great person and when time permits he was nice enough to talk with via my translator app. He and the staff are very sincere and made me feel welcomed. Oh yeah, let’s not forget why I arrived and that was to eat some great ramen and fried rice.

Good ramen at a good price! I ordered the chashu ramen and half order of fried rice, totaling 1150¥. Very soft chashu and good salt broth taste with a bit of tonkotsu fat. You can also add fresh crushed garlic, spices, green onions, and kimchi to taste. However, the thin noodles and fried rice were average, not bad but not amazing. Solid place.

(Translated by Google) This ramen shop is located right after exiting the Maizuru-Higashi Interchange on the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway. There are surprisingly few restaurants around here. Visited during lunchtime. ・Kotteri Ramen Large (1.5 bowls) ¥1,110 ・Fried Chicken Set ¥400 The ramen is rich and delicious, similar to a certain national chain! This one has a little back fat, which is great. The soup is so good you can finish it all. Do you want garlic? I declined because the smell bothers me, but I bet it would be delicious if I did. The person next to me had received some, and it was the kind where you crush the raw garlic yourself. You can choose between thin or medium-thick noodles, and I chose the medium-thick ones. They were thinner than I expected, but they mixed perfectly with the noodles. The fried chicken was also richly seasoned, crispy, and delicious. The rice in the set said it was made with Ayabe-grown Koshihikari, so I ordered it, but it must have been cooked a while ago because it was so awful. What a waste. The complimentary kimchi was too sour for my taste. If you're looking for a meal in the area, this might be a good choice. There's parking for a few cars in front of the restaurant, and a secondary parking lot nearby, so I recommend visiting by car. Not as bad as the Jiro-style restaurants, but she was brusque and unfriendly, and not suited to customer service. I think the food was good. It's also good that you can adjust the amount of garlic to suit your taste. The fried rice was really good. The kimchi at the all-you-can-eat restaurant was awful. Typical free kimchi (just sour). One star deducted because the staff member had a bad attitude. If I were asked if I would come back, I'd probably go back to the nearby Kirameki.
