Sakai in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Sakai, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Sakai in Fukui Prefecture offers dramatic coastal scenery, most famously the sheer basalt cliffs of Tojinbo overlooking the Sea of Japan. The area is known for fresh seafood, including Echizen crab in season, and relaxing hot spring resorts along the Echizen-Kaga Kaigan Quasi-National Park. Inland, you can visit historic sites such as Maruoka Castle, considered one of Japan’s oldest surviving wooden castle keeps. Its quieter atmosphere and compact size make it easy to combine with nearby Fukui City and other Hokuriku destinations.
With favorites like Echizen Matsushima Aquarium, Mikuni Sunset Beach, and Yuri-no-Sato Park, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Shōtarō and Yamani Fishery so you can get the best taste of Sakai while you’re here. Tojinbo, located in Fukui Prefecture, is a captivating destination known for its dramatic cliffs that overlook the Sea of Japan. This ancient and rugged location offers visitors a chance to explore attractions such as the dynamic columnar cliffs of Tojinbo, Maruoka Castle, and Mikuni Minato. The coastal basalt cliffs of Tojinbo stretch over one kilometer and have been formed by the relentless erosion of the sea.
Probably a must-visit! Went there at mid August and the weather was perfectly fine with breeze. The scene was just awe-inspiring and a nice place to just take a rest and enjoy the scenery.

We visited on 8.4.2025, where cherry blossoms peaked. There wasn’t a lot of crashing waves but the views were excellent as it was a sunny day. It is a 30 minute drive from Fukui city centre. Nearby there are a few restaurants but a handful were closed on our visit. The cruise gave a whole new perspective on the columns and we sure did enjoy our time here.

Tojinbo Cliffs, Fukui|A Stunning Coastal Wonder of Japan Located in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, Tojinbo is one of Japan’s most breathtaking natural landscapes. These rugged cliffs stretch for about 1 km along the Sea of Japan and are famous for their dramatic rock formations and powerful waves crashing below. Often featured in Japanese crime dramas, the sheer scale and natural force of Tojinbo leave a lasting impression on all who visit. ◆ Top Highlights of Tojinbo ■ Cliffside Viewpoints The uniquely shaped columnar joint rock formations are a rare geological feature. From the top of the cliffs, especially near the “Oike” (Great Basin) area, enjoy a jaw-dropping panoramic view of the Sea of Japan. ■ Senjojiki Area Get close to the sea by climbing down to the rock-covered shoreline. You can walk across the natural stone slabs and feel the power of the ocean up close. ■ Sunset Spot Tojinbo is one of the best places in Japan to watch the sun set into the ocean. Each season offers a different and unforgettable view—perfect for photography lovers. ■ Tojinbo Shopping Street Right near the cliffs, this charming street is lined with souvenir shops and local food stalls. Enjoy fresh Echizen crab, sweet shrimp skewers, and other regional delicacies. ■ Tojinbo Sightseeing Boat Take a cruise along the base of the cliffs to see Tojinbo from a whole new perspective. The boat ride offers stunning views not visible from land. ◆ The Legend Behind the Name “Tojinbo” is named after a monk from the Heian period who, according to legend, was pushed off the cliffs due to a romantic dispute. It’s said that the sea raged for 49 days after his fall. ◆ What Visitors Are Saying “A thrilling experience with an amazing view of the Sea of Japan.” “Watching the sunset here was a once-in-a-lifetime moment.” “Great food and fun souvenir shopping at the nearby street.” “The boat cruise gave us a completely new angle of this natural wonder!” #Tojinbo #TojinboSnap #FukuiJapan #FukuiTravel #JapanScenery #CliffView #SunsetSpot #SeaOfJapan #EchizenCrab #StreetFoodJapan #NatureLovers #TravelJapan #ExploreJapan #ReelsJapan Tojinbo is a must-visit destination in Fukui that combines natural beauty, local culture, and fascinating legends. Whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or family, this iconic coastal spot offers a truly unforgettable experience.

If you're looking for a place with an incredible ocean view, high cliffs, and crystal-clear water, this is it. The landscape is beautiful, and there's even a street leading to the location with many shops and restaurants serving a wide variety of seafood. It's a great place to spend the day. The parking lot is large and spacious. There's also a boat tour where you can see the rocks up close.
Claudia M — Google review
Went here during Golden Week. There were so many people as it was a holiday, but it was a good experience. The weather was very good that day, making it even more picturuseque and good views from the cliff. For ¥500 you can also have a bird's eye view from the Tojinbo tower nearby. There's a couple of shops and restaurants leading up to the cliff. We ate some really good squid in one of them. I was hoping to buy some omiyage, but I didn't find any that was to my liking. It's about an 1hr from Fukui station. Use the echizen railway, ride until the last stop. Cross the road, there's a bus stop near the station, ride the local bus 1 stop for about 10 minutes, and voila, you're there.
Faith K — Google review
Beautiful and unique in view sea of Japan, but bit dangerous. Better to be carful on your foot steps. Not very far from Fukui city. Car park available around ¥500.
Chaminda M — Google review
An interesting place to visit but I wasn't that impressed. The cliff itself is very beautiful but quite small. Getting there from Fukui is not so easy by transportation. The restaurants and souvenir shops were a bit old fashioned.

Tojinbo Tower is a historic 55-meter observation tower that provides stunning views of the ocean and cliffs. Despite its age, visitors can explore the vintage structure and ascend to the top for panoramic vistas on clear days. Additionally, there's a souvenir shop and restaurant on-site. The friendly staff adds to the experience, making it an interesting place to enjoy a great view of the surrounding cliffs while taking in the historical ambiance.
Super old run down observation tower. We had a good time roaming around and then going to the top for a look. The staff was very friendly.
Julian V — Google review
It may not the most impressive tower in the world, but it does carry uniquely attractive atmosphere for some reason. Take in an outstanding view from 100 meters above sea level at this tower whose base is at an elevation of 55 meters. It was built in 1964, the year of the previous Tokyo Olympics. The lookout offers a 360-degree, panoramic view of the expansive ocean below.
Wild ( — Google review
Old observation tower. Better views of the cliff at the cliff. No crowd and there are public buses that brings you from the train station to the cliff
Mui L — Google review
The shortest of All-Japan tower series, only 55m tall high. Lots of parking available on site. Views were impressive but the Tojinbo was slightly blocked by the trees. Admission is 500 yen for an adult including middle school students and above, and 300 yen for children under said above. Be sure to take the cruise and view the Tojinbo up close.
Lucas L — Google review
A very old and rundown tower that oversees the surrounding cliff area. It's ¥500 per pax to go up the tower. There's no crowd (and people, for that matter) during winter. Great view for scenery photos.

Nature & Parks
Exhibit
Echizen Matsushima Aquarium is a small seaside aquarium in Fukui, Japan, offering various attractions such as touch pools, penguin and dolphin shows, and encounters with seals. Visitors can enjoy interacting with animals like turtles and dolphins. The staff's exceptional care for the animals is evident. While the aquarium may appear run-down due to its proximity to the ocean, it offers an enriching experience for families with opportunities to interact with marine life.
To get here, board the bus from Mikuni station. It's a relatively big area aquarium for an outskirt town. The place has a few buildings for different sea life. There's also a beautiful cliff view at the side of the place. For ¥2200 for adults, I would say it's worth the price for those who love marine animals.
Tan H — Google review
This is a small aquarium but with multiple different buildings. Entry fees are higher than average — 2200 yen for adults and half that for children. We went to see the dolphin show that lasted 15 minutes and was impressive. We went later in the day meaning there wasn’t a lot of people. Some exhibits allowed you to touch the fish, such as octopus, or let you feed them. There is a free parking lots available on site, or by bus can get you off nearby.
Lucas L — Google review
Pro tip: Make sure to buy your tickets in advance to get a 500 yen discount! The aquarium is relatively small, but I easily spent 2 hours here. They have turtles, dolphins, penguins, and many more! I especially loved the penguin area, as well as walking into the room with the tortoise enjoying himself. The staff was exceptional; you can see they take good care of their animals.

Assalamualaikum brother. This place located in Fukui Japan. There are many attractions that you can watch in this place. Dolphins attractions was amazing. The parking area is free. The entrance fee was about 2,200¥ for adult and 1,600 for elementary and Junior high school students. Recommended for your family.
Asrul S — Google review
It is a great place for kids. Loads to do, not so much watching but interacting with animals and I touching them etc. I suspect it isn't very ethical like many japanese aquariums and zoos but I didn't get the impression it was overly cruel.
Tim M — Google review
It's a small town aquarium. I can't speak on how animal treatment. Every country has different standards, it is what it is. I can only say the people that worked there seemed like they genuinely cared. It is kinda run down but literally right next to the ocean. It's going to erode faster. If you're in the area I think it's worth a visit.
Sam — Google review
Aquarium located near Tojinbo, where we find a range of very interesting fish species. There is a show with dolphins at specific times. I found the entrance fee a bit expensive, 2000 yen per person, but, on the other hand, parking is free.
Gustavo S — Google review
Awful aquarium, small dirty tanks, animal welfare not a priority. I visited this aquarium today after visiting Oshima (which was great). This place literally made me cry. The tanks are way too small, most of them are filthy, and dont have plants, rocks, or anything to improve the environment. They have a huge sunfish in a small tank, the water is not clear and there is nothing inside. Its like they decided to reuse an old swimming pool or something. There was a big octopus in a tank almost the same size as itself, in the "touch tank" area, with no staff to supervise. The largest tanks were overcrowded, and some fish looked sick. One giant ray looked terrible, and kept swimming to the top and free falling to crash on the ground. I will certainly never come back here and i advise you not to come either. I dont know how anyone can visit this place and leave with a smile.

Yuri-no-Sato Park is a picturesque destination that offers a unique nighttime experience with its enchanting lighting. From sunset to 9:30 p.m., the park comes alive with colorful spotlights illuminating the central building and an arched tunnel adorned with lights for visitors to stroll through. The signature flower fields, featuring roses in spring and lilies in early summer, are also aglow with countless lights.
Assalamualaikum brother, We went to this place in the afternoon around 4.00 pm with my family. This place is very nice and it has beautiful cosmo park and it has illumination in the night, so we have to wait until 6.00 pm to see it. The entrance and parking are free, you can park your car easily here. Recommended place to visit.

Hidden gem of Fukui, in the middle of farming grounds. It’s such a cute place with local farming related activities and products. They host seasonal events and put cute decorations. Illumination lights are also pretty, and you will have fun for sure. It’s usually not crowded, so you can take time for your photos. Maybe bringing tripod for better quality, is a good idea. Their pudding or flan is so gooood.

Restaurant
On November 27, 2022, Shōtarō restaurant offers the convenience of free parking for its visitors. They have friendly and helpful staff who can guide you if you call ahead. This establishment is located near Tojinbo and provides a close parking option for sightseers. By dining at Shōtarō, patrons can avoid the hefty 500 yen fee charged at the beckoning parking lot by the entrance of Tojinbo.
(Translated by Google) I used it with my 3-year-old child on our way to Matsushima Aquarium. I made a reservation and visited because they had a kids room. The room was a private room on the second floor, so I was able to use it without worrying about noise from children. The room was equipped with a ball pool, jungle gym, Lego blocks, etc., and the children were happy from beginning to end. Meals can also be ordered using the touch panel, so you can easily order without taking your eyes off your child. At tourist destinations across the country, lunches are becoming more expensive due to inbound tourists and the weak yen, but the prices are reasonable. I'm satisfied with the taste and quantity. thank you very much. A very delicious seafood restaurant located at Tojinbo Cliff. The Echizen crab is excellent, and the kanimiso with added egg makes it even creamier. Other dishes are also fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is nice, and the staff are very friendly to foreigners. They also explained how to eat each dish in a very clear and helpful way.

(Translated by Google) It's simply amazing. I reserved the kids' room the night before, and they readily accommodated my request despite it being so short. On the day itself, a staff member even came out to the parking lot to greet me. It's probably best to call just before you arrive. Sorry for the heat. 🙇‍♀️ When I arrived at the room they'd prepared for me, I was surprised at how much larger it was! I was also excited by the cute wallpaper and the large number of toys. The air conditioning worked well, which was a relief. All the food was delicious, but I was particularly impressed by the a la carte dishes. The oysters were the best. They were large, plump, and incredibly fresh. Three oysters of this quality were a reasonable price. The seafood bowl had no fishy smell at all and was incredibly delicious. The rice was soft and a bit soggy, so your tastes may differ. I loved it. Next time I go, I'll order the wakame udon, which I've been secretly eyeing. Thank you again.

Yamani Fishery offers delectable BBQ seafood that is both fresh and appetizing. The prices are fairly competitive, although the restaurant tends to get overcrowded. However, if you don't mind the limited seating options, it's definitely worth trying their local grilled seafood while on the go. Don't miss out on experiencing the remarkable flavors of Mikuniminato seafood and Echizen crab offered here.
We came here to try their infamous Snow Crab, also known as Echizen Gani, which is a seasonal seafood during winter. But this crab is really expensive despite that it was on season, so we ordered the cheapest available option, just to have a taste on it. The crab meat was sweet and very delicious. Their grilled squids was nice too. The atmosphere was very comfortable, and cozy, with Japanese style short table seating, where you have to take off your shoes to sit inside.

The sea urchin is one bite size, but it also has delicious sweet shrimp on top, making it about the same price as two pieces of sea urchin at conveyor belt sushi (around 750 yen from what I remember). The rich flavor was very good. My companion said that the grilled clams had a firm texture, and that the grilled crab miso and egg shells were freshly baked, piping hot, and very flavorful. The shop is located closest to the Tojinbo cliff, and in addition to the food menu, they also offer shaved ice, soft drinks, soft serve ice cream, alcoholic beverages, and small souvenirs. You order at the register, pay in advance, and wait at your seat until your number is called. Cold drinks are self-service. There was a shelf where you could hang up your dishes after you finished eating, but they said it would be better at the restaurant, so they hung them up for you instead. The place was lively and the staff seemed cheerful and cheerful, so I enjoyed my meal.

We chose the sweet shrimp rice bowl (as of September 2018), the restaurant's top recommendation, and grilled squid. The aroma of the grilled squid is indescribable. Delicious! The weather was great that day, and the view was amazing. The cool breeze from the ocean made the food even more delicious. This is the sweet shrimp! Truly sweet and fresh. You can tell just by looking at them how fresh they are. When it comes to dining at Tojinbo, grilled seafood is the way to go. Highly recommended! Nestled in a beautifully renovated 120-year-old traditional Japanese house, Lull offers a unique dining experience that seamlessly blends the old with the new. As you make your way from the parking lot to the entrance, you'll be captivated by this charming juxtaposition. Once inside, you're greeted by a pristine kitchen and an awe-inspiring view of the ocean through large windows.

Delicious hybrid cuisine restaurant. It’s not french. Nor japanese. Fish and vegetables are fresh and the alcohol selection is good. However if you are a beg eater, you might regret that every portion is really small. The restaurant itself is inside an old house in front of the sea. Perfect to be alone or for a date.

The overall amount is small, so you won't feel bloated. (Translated by Google) I asked him at Launch. I made the reservation on Instagram and received an email confirming the reservation and confirmation the day before. It's good for preventing forgetfulness. The location is near Matsushima Aquarium, so it's easy to find. In front of the store? You can park about 3 cars in the gravel parking lot below. After that, you have to climb the stairs to get to the store, but since the stairs are steep, I recommend taking the path next to it. The structure leading up to the entrance of the restaurant is good and you can get into the atmosphere of the restaurant. There was a menu before, but the contents seemed to be different. When you enter the store, the customer seats are on the left, the kitchen is in front, and the restroom is on the right. This time I had made a reservation and there were 3 groups. I wonder if we were the last. The atmosphere of the meal was good. All the drinks were cold, so I thought it would be nice to have something warm. I don't think it can be helped if it harmonizes with the course. All the dishes were interesting and delicious. I think the specialty vegetables used heshiko and cheese, but I thought it could have been a little more chewy. Everything was well prepared and good. Fish and meat are served, but there seem to be two main dishes, so I feel like the portions are a bit large. I think the cost performance is good. Bread was also provided, which was also delicious. The dessert was also delicious and not too sweet. Overall, it feels calm and the atmosphere is nice. However, it is no good to push away unused seats. After all, what you can see creates the cleanliness and atmosphere of the entire store, so it's probably best to turn on the lights or hide them. I think only one group can see the ocean and eat, so it might be best not to have high expectations. You can also use electronic money PayPal. I think it's very nice of them to have a conversation with the chef and say farewell. There is still some roughness in general, so I look forward to seeing it in the future. It looks like they'll try the afternoon too, so I'd like to go there. Maruoka Castle, located in Fukui Prefecture, is a historic hilltop 3-story castle originally built around 1600 and rebuilt after an earthquake. It offers stunning views of the city and surrounding park. The castle is known for its oldest flat-land architectural style among Japan's original castles and has been designated as an important cultural property. With its distinctive unglazed slate roof tiles, the castle stands out as a national treasure.
As one of the 12 remaining castle keeps from the Edo period, it’s a must to visit if you are drawn to Japan Sengoku history. It’s relatively small compare to Himeji or Matsumoto but there are some interesting things to learn about this place.

A well-preserved, historic castle with a picturesque moat invites exploration. In the garden, delicate cherry blossoms bloom, lending the place an almost fairytale-like atmosphere. Visitors have the opportunity to ascend all the way into the tower under the roof – but beware: the stairs are narrow and steep, turning the climb into a small adventure. Inside the castle, a fascinating exhibition awaits, featuring impressive samurai armors, historical weapons, and artistic portraits that offer a vivid insight into bygone eras. Nice to see and take pictures. However, it is not absolutely necessary to go into the castle.

Maruoka Castle is a charming little castle with lots of history—it’s actually one of Japan’s oldest surviving castles, built way back in 1576! The original keep is still standing, which is pretty cool. Entrance is ¥450 for adults and ¥150 for kids, so it’s super affordable, and there are group discounts too. The castle sits on a small hill, giving nice views of the surrounding area. Inside, the stairs are pretty steep, so take care if you’re not confident on your feet. There’s also a small museum nearby with some interesting history about the castle. Cherry blossom season here is beautiful, making it a perfect spot for photos and a peaceful stroll. It’s not too crowded, so you can really enjoy the atmosphere. Open daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (last entry 4:30 PM). Definitely worth a stop if you’re exploring Fukui!

Maruoka Castle is not the grandest, tallest, toughest, or toughest castle in Japan. But it is easily the loveliest. It gives you a great sense of a moderate mediaeval build, prioritising function over form, while still staying beautiful. I was particularly charmed by the community's efforts to keep the castle ground alive, clean, and attractive. For this purpose an elegant new information hall has been constructed by the side of the caslte, with even part of the old moat restored, to add reflections to the already nice view.

One of the 12 original castles in all of Japan. An interesting visit. Be careful with the stairs to the second and third floors because they are very steep. Perhaps not recommended for older people. Exhibit
The Brief Message from the Heart Museum, situated near Maruoka Castle, showcases a diverse range of exhibits, including humorous and poignant content. The museum features tanka and somonka poems that mimic letters, offering an intriguing literary perspective. Visitors can explore the culture of expressing profound messages through concise writing. One notable exhibit is a letter by Honda Sakuzaemon Shigetsugu to his wife, reflecting his devotion to family and loyalty in just a few words.
Brief Message from the Heart Museum is located right across the street from Maruoka Castle. The museum was opened in 2015. Since Japan has a culture to expressing a message in one stroke of brief writing which contains a lot of meanings. The museum displays masterpiece of prize-winning brief letters from a letter contest held in Japan started in 1993. The motif of this museum is a writing style of Honda Shigetsugu who was a vassal of Tokugawa Shogunate. Shigetsugu often wrote a message to his family in his time in a brief writing style which conveys a lot of messages. Later this style of writing was much recognized as a beautiful form of art. In this museum you can see a large collection of brief messages collected from the past for more than 20 years. Please feel how those letters expressed within 40 count of letters can convey one's thoughts and feelings to your heart. My ticket included the "Shortest in Japan..." set, and along the route from the parking lot to Maruoka Castle, there were numerous lanterns with "short letters" written on them. Reading these as I walked, I became intrigued and decided to check it out. The museum is small and cozy, and although my itinerary didn't allow me to stay long, I enjoyed the soothing atmosphere of each letter, which evoked images and scenes. If I had had more time, I would have liked to take my time to see all the exhibits. I highly recommend checking it out. (Translated by Google) You can enter this museum with your Maruoka Castle admission ticket (450 yen as of August 2025). I was intrigued by several lanterns bearing short letters halfway up the slope leading from the parking lot to Maruoka Castle, and since the Letter Museum is located very close to Maruoka Castle, I decided to stop by for a bit. Many of the short, poignant letters, each just 40 characters long, were on display, arranged in an ingenious way. The roots of short letters lie in a letter written to his wife from the battlefield by Honda Sakuzaemon Shigetsugu, a loyal retainer of Tokugawa Ieyasu who earned the renowned bravery of Onisakuza, titled "A letter to you: Be careful of fire. Don't make Osen cry. Fatten the horses." This is said to be a model for a letter that clearly and succinctly conveys the intended purpose. The "Osen" mentioned in this letter is Honda Shigeshige, who later became the lord of Maruoka Domain and whose childhood name was Senchiyo. The "Japan's Shortest Letter Ichibu Keijo Award," which receives many entries from all over the country every year, is said to have started with the motif of a letter from Honda Sakuzaemon Shigetsugu.

Angel land Fukui is definitely a great place for kids to play and also for older people to experience and learn about the space. It is big enough for everyone and offers a great green garden with a very calm playground. Nearby you will find a park with much greenery as well. Not close is a library. Defennetly worth a visit with or without kids.

Mikuni Sunset Beach is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a sandy stretch lined with shops and bars. It's known for its shallow waters, making it safe for children to play. The nearby Yua Port Mikuni Jetty provides opportunities for fishing, while the beach itself offers a more adult atmosphere at places like Hamachaya and Hama Bar. Visitors can enjoy stunning sunset views over the Sea of Japan and even catch fireworks displays at times.
Good place to take a hot bath and eat. View is spectacular, especially in the evening. Also you can enjoy starting fireworks on the beach, BBQ, swimming or fishing near this place. If you are coming bach from 東尋坊, it might be a good stop before coming back home.
_Али_ — Google review
I was here during winter (in December) to catch the sunset. But I was bewildered with the amount of trash on the beach. I'm guessing these trash were washed up by the waves and no one cleans them up during winter. There's hardly anyone here during winter either. Nevertheless, I was able to capture the sunset around 4:40PM Japan time.

Hokojima is a hidden gem along the coast that promises an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. This small island features stunning geological formations, including a striking 50-meter-tall cluster of columnar jointing, shaped by the relentless waves of the Sea of Japan. Unlike more commercialized spots like Tojinbo, Hokojima offers a serene escape with no entrance fees or tourist shops—just pure natural beauty to soak in.
We went here by bus. Climbing on the rocks was fun. Very beautiful, not many people (we went on a holiday weekend). The stairs on the tallest rock are harrowing, and there's no rope or rail till more than halfway up.
Jen D — Google review
Unlike Tojinbo, this spot isn't a tourist trap. No charge for parking, no tourists shops. Just nature to admire and enjoy. The rock formations are truly unique. You can even follow the pathway up the main rock and climb to the top. One downside: The toilet building isn't well maintained at all. Huge spider webs and spiders everywhere...
Ilse E — Google review
Very nice spot. We went there at golden hour and the rocks were beautifully lightened by the sunlight. If you are on a roadtrip around the coast, this rock is worth a stop. You can also walk up to a small shrine and a nice view over the coast.

Its a free sight seeing with a fantastic view of sunset and rock formation. No entrance free and no parking fee no activity to do just to seeing the view of beach.

Mikuni Inkyojo is a contemporary seafood restaurant located in a hot spring hotel that offers breathtaking sea views. With its low-key ambiance and terrace, guests can enjoy not only delicious dishes but also the scenic surroundings. While some customers suggest improving the store's atmosphere to match high-end shops, others emphasize the importance of making it more accessible for all by adding handrails or elevators on the stairs.

I made a reservation at 11:30 on a holiday, but there were only about 3 groups in the restaurant, so I don't think a reservation is necessary for meals other than crab. "Echizen Crab Gozen" It was nice to be able to enjoy crab in various ways such as grilled, steamed, and sashimi, but I wasn't really impressed with the taste. If it was around 8,000 yen, I would be very satisfied, but at 20,000 yen, it was disappointing. The sashimi was watery and the steamed crab meat was a normal size. It might have been the most delicious thing to eat grilled miso over rice. I separately ordered wakame soba, and the noodles had a good texture and the flavor of seaweed was delicious. Note: Mikuni seafood bowl, Japanese cubed fish raw bowl + soba noodle set. Seafood bowl includes local fish that are already sweet and different. The seafood near the port is fresh enough, and the scallops used in the special region are used for the seafood bowls made in the coming days. A history of the delicious taste of seafood. Other than that, the soba noodle is a seaweed soba noodle from Fukui. At the end of the day, it is possible to buy a bank, and it is possible to collect soba noodles, and it is necessary to have a copy of the book. I don't like Japan immediately, and I don't like the details of the clerk's return, and I don't like the hassle of handling soba noodles. Thank you so much! The restaurant is located in the seaside of Mikuni Minato, and the name of the restaurant is located in a hidden area. The name and name of the place of residence are also historical and significant. A very satisfying one-ton meal, an organic conversation meeting again! Thank you for kindly showing me around even though I arrived before the last order. I ordered Mikuni's seafood bowl and chirashi bowl set. The seafood bowl was beautiful in appearance, using fluffy sweet shrimp and local Mikuni fish. Since it's near the port, I think the seafood is very fresh. What's interesting about this is this scallop shell. Since ancient times, Kitamaebune sailors have used scallop shells as containers. You can enjoy history while enjoying seafood. It was a chirashi bowl and wakame soba set, and the wakame soba had a very strong texture. When I bit into the soba, it had an unexpected texture. I think it has a texture similar to mochi. When I was checking out, I saw that they were selling wakame soba, so I bought it right away. I was very grateful to the staff for kindly and politely teaching me how to make and cook soba, even though my Japanese was poor. I think it was a well-enjoyed lunch. If it's okay, I'd like to go again.

During my recent travels, I had the pleasure of visiting the Europaken Harue Branch, a well-known eatery in Fukui. This charming restaurant boasts a nostalgic Showa-era ambiance that instantly transports you back in time. On my visit, I indulged in their katsudon—a delightful pork cutlet bowl—paired with miso soup for an incredibly reasonable price. The flavors were impressive and truly representative of Fukui's B-grade gourmet scene.

Echizen Kaninobou is a simple restaurant known for its seasonal crab menus, as well as offerings like abalone and sea urchins. While it's famous for its crab dishes, visitors have found that the sashimi and soba are of good quality even when crabs are not in season. The dining room offers a view of the seashore and the train station.

We stopped at the restaurant around 5:45pm and I went in to check if it was opened for business as the town was quiet. A gentleman greeted me and advised that it’s not crab season yet so they served other sashimi dishes. He also suggested other cooked items for kids. We decided to try and was pleasantly surprised by the good quality of the sashimi and soba. Our dinning room window overlooks the seashore and the train station.
