Tonosho-cho in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Tonosho-cho, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Tonosho-cho is the main gateway to Shodoshima, offering scenic ferry approaches and wide views over the Seto Inland Sea. The town is best known for Angel Road, a sandbar that appears at low tide and links several small islands, and for the Dofuchi Strait, recognized as one of the world’s narrowest navigable straits. Its old port district features traditional soy sauce warehouses and quiet backstreets, giving a glimpse of the island’s long trading history. Tonosho also serves as a convenient base for exploring Shodoshima’s olive plantations and contemporary art sites connected to the Setouchi Triennale.
With favorites like Teshima Art Museum, Kasaneiwa, and Meiro no machi (Maze Town), we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like OLIVAZ and Buon Compagno so you can get the best taste of Tonosho-cho while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Scenic spot
Angel Road is a stunning natural attraction located on the southwestern tip of Shodoshima near Tonosho Port. It consists of a 500-meter-long sandbar that emerges at low tide, connecting mainland Shodoshima to three small islands. Legend has it that walking hand-in-hand with your partner across Angel Road will strengthen your bond. Nearby, visitors can enjoy the panoramic views from The Hill of Promise.
Pay attention to when the tide is out. You can get the information at a big souvenir shop right next to the pier. There is a car park near the Angel Road but it’s not free. Walk up to the little hill and you will be more amazed by the breathtaking views. The views were stunning at sunset.
Karen C — Google review
Really nice view and went there close to sunset and it was pretty amazing the place was rather crowded though but would still highly recommend going there. As the view is pretty stunning!
Lyon . — Google review
✨ A magical and romantic place ✨ Visiting Angel Road was an unforgettable experience. The sandy path appears during low tide, connecting several small islands and creating a unique scenery. The atmosphere is peaceful, perfect for a romantic walk or enjoying the sunset. There’s also a viewpoint with a bell where couples ring it for good luck in love, which makes the place even more special. Make sure to check the tide schedule to walk the entire path. A must-see spot in Shodoshima, full of natural beauty and romance. 🌊💫
EryArt 3 — Google review
When we arrive the sun was already going down and the sunset view was amazing. The tide was already rising but there is still people trying to cross over. ( pls becarful if you do but I don’t recommend 🫣) There is a car park near by but not a lot of space tho.
Shelley L — Google review
We made a beeline straight for this place as soon as we got off the ferry, and were glad we took our car. The bus wait seemed a bit slow. We missed the tide around sunset, and it wasn’t too crowded when we went. I was able to fly my drone here and capture some beautiful footage of the rock formations around here. There was a couple that was getting wedded that day, and most people edged out of the way to let them take their wedding pictures. Most folks descend down the steps to here, and come straight to the beach area to take pictures of the “island”. But there also steps to the left that are a bit discreet; they lead up to a series of stairs that give you a nice panoramic view of the island and there is a lover’s bell up on the top as well.
Vantageshots — Google review
Wonderful experience, check the low tide times before you go (your window is 2 hours before to 2 hours after for a total of 4 hours). Cool to see the flora and fauna that clearly were in the ocean water hours ago. Crossing the sand bar and back is picturesque and can be done in less than 30 minutes. Bonus trip up the stairs near the entrance leads you to a bell you can ring for love!
Angela C — Google review
Took Olive bus no. 6 here. As it was low tide, we could walk on the road or rather the beach. We walked till the end where we saw past visitors had hang blessings notes on the branches of the tree. It was a nice stroll on the beach. After that we headed to Yumi Katsura Lover's Sanctuary where we could ring the bell and looked down on Angel road
GAN Y — Google review
Nice walk with pretty view; it’s such a peaceful place that you feel like you can spend hours just walking / enjoying the view. It seems to be known as lovers’ sanctuary. There is a little hill next to the “angel road” that you can climb and enjoy the view. It gets crowded as it gets close to the time which the “angel road” will appear. There are quite a few car parking areas within 5-10 mins walk.

Kasaneiwa, located atop a mountain on the western end of Shodoshima, is a collection of stacked boulders with stunning sea views. The landmark is enshrined as a sacred object at Takase Ishi Shrine and requires a steep climb up a path with stairs and ropes. Visitors should be prepared for narrow roads leading to the parking lot and a challenging 15-minute climb.
Kasane-iwa offers a truly stunning view from the west side of Shodoshima. The first part of the hike from the parking lot below is just stairs. After you get to the little shrine halfway up, the path gets a little rougher. Still, this part is not too long and there's a sturdy fence you can keep your balance on, so it's both safe and relatively easy. If you're on Shodoshima, I warmly recommend climbing Kasane-iwa both for the exercise and the views—it's a truly beautiful place (:
Njål A — Google review
Quick to visit, although getting to the top requires climbing a few rocks. Great views all the way.
Karri H — Google review
Amazing view. Just be aware that once you reach Kasaneiwafudo, there are no more steps from then onwards and it gets very steep, so be sure to wear proper footwear (I was wearing sandals 😅). But the view was well worth it!
Mark X — Google review
Great view, even better if you come at sunset

It’s a tiny street to drive up, lots of stairs to walk up then climb up some rocks. Be ready. Locals told me if you get to the top, you can stay healthy for a year. I think you have to be healthy to get to the top! It’s nice view and feels good there
Takako U — Google review
Very tough climb, yeah,,, this is climb. Take care of climbing. Very beautiful view in the top! Only 3-4 cars can get parked.
I T — Google review
Not only the rocks but also such an amazing view spot. Needed to stay there to look around the view, and to think about the process to make these rocks stacked like the toy blocks! You need to spend climb up a bit for like 15min, but definitely recommend it!

Bodies of Water
Dofuchi Strait, also known as Tsuchibuchi Strait, holds the Guinness World Record for being the narrowest strait globally. It's a picturesque location that offers a glimpse of traditional Japan. Visitors can explore the charming Tonosho Town and its maze-like streets, which have been featured in anime and movies like 'Teasing Master Takagi-san.' The area is rich in history and natural beauty, making it perfect for leisurely strolls.
I had no idea this place existed when I first arrived. When I learned about it, I was very pleasantly surprised! Shodoshima, as it turns out, is actually 2 islands: Shodoshima and Maejima. At the point shown the videos, it’s only 9.93 meters across, making it the most narrow navigable strait in the world—that fact is registered in the Guinness Book of world records.
The D — Google review

Nestled in the picturesque Chōshi Valley on Shodoshima Island, the Chōshi Valley Monkey Kingdom Natural Zoo is a delightful haven for wildlife enthusiasts. This enchanting sanctuary is home to around 500 Japanese macaques that roam freely in their natural habitat, allowing visitors to witness these playful primates up close. The experience becomes even more interactive as guests can feed the monkeys soybeans directly from their hands for just 100 yen, creating memorable moments of connection with these charming creatures.
Highly recommend, Saru interactions everywhere :) Please make effort to climb/walk to observation viewpoint too, it is one of best views on island
Chiaki W — Google review
Surprisingly good, we don't normally like these things, animal welfare. But the monkey's are free to roam all around the mountains in this area. They like being fed at the parks so they come at key times. Observation deck was a great spot
Jennifer E — Google review
We fed lots of monkeys there, they are so cute.
Li Y — Google review
Perfect place to meet with our ancestor in funny way. You can feed them too :-)
Tanmay E — Google review
For those with kids. It’s about a 5-10 mins walk to the kingdom. There’s also a cabin to feed the monkeys safely. The staff are very aware of the monkey’s behaviors and give advice to visitors accordingly to prevent incidents. For those with better endurance. Walk 20 mins to the top of the mountain for some mind bending views of the area.
CLX C — Google review
it is a small zoo full of wild monkeys so need to be careful. Do not stare at them otherwise they might attack you. Don't run and don't play with monkeys. However, it is a good experience for everyone. Also, they didn't advertise it but they have the best view points in the whole island.
John P — Google review
I recommend to go all the way up the hill to have great way around Shodoshima.

Shodoshima Olive Park is a Mediterranean-style park and olive grove that offers visitors a taste of Greece in Japan. The park features an abundance of olive trees, a Greek windmill, and greenhouses reminiscent of Santorini. It was even used as the filming location for the live-action version of Kiki's Delivery Service. Visitors can explore hiking paths through the olive trees and enjoy stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea and its islands.
I strongly recommend driving on Shodosbima because the island is big and it will waste much time if you take public transport. This park is good. It’s free of charge and there are many olive trees. You could pick leaves and make bookmarks using the leaves at the souvenir shop. People could find the heart-shaped leaves but I couldn’t :( You could take an instagrammable pictures with a broom provided by the park near the windmill. There is a restaurant on the second floor of the building. The food was fine.
Karen C — Google review
If you like studio ghibli then it’s a must go. The windmill is the highlight of the place. So many people taking photo there. After parking you need to go to the museum, they have a wall where they hang the famous Kiki broom. But sometime you need to wait since many took it for photo. After taking the break you can then head to the windmill. The olive oil ice cream was good also specially after all the jumping 😆😆😆.
Shelley L — Google review
tbh it’s frustrating to walk uphill under scorching sun, from the bus stop. it’s a nice olive park tho, big square with art installations and the windmill that everyone is crazy about. big souvenir shop, resto and stuff, even a shrine!! also a tiny museum and noodles place along the road. i spent 3hrs there, but i think most people left faster than i did. once is enough for me; i won’t go again if no one drives me uphill.
Beergal H — Google review
An olive garden with a lot of photogenic spots. There are the oldest olive tree in Japan, a windmill, a lovely house and a statue of Athena. There is a large souvenir shop with various olive products from snack, food to cosmetics.
Sarasate E — Google review
You can borrow the broom for free to pretend to be Kiki in Ghibli Kiki's Delivery Service~ Please also go to lookout~

Though I am not a big fan of theme park, this scenic olive-theme park was definitely worth a visit. Its herb garden, museum, and olive farm were both beautiful and educational. Potential visitors need to budget their time accordingly as the buses run infrequently (especially in the late afternoon)!

Modern art museum
The Teshima Art Museum, located on the hillside of Tanzan, is a striking teardrop-shaped structure that houses the installation 'Matrix' by artist Rei Naito. Designed by architect Nishizawa, this unique museum resembles a half eggshell and offers unobstructed views of the Seto Inland Sea.
Love the tranquility and peacefulness of this museum and the entire Teshima island. When you enter the dome, you appreciate the sounds, temperature, light and shade of nature. Must buy ticket in advance tho. Well worth the time and money cost to reach here.
Steven C — Google review
Inside of the dome is strictly restricted to take any photo. There are a few people patrolling inside. I found it bit crazy but perhaps to avoid any photo taking distractions, which is understandable. There are many small holes on the floor from which water is coming out. Please be careful of not being wet. Outside of the dome is very peaceful. We walked to the museum from Ieura ferry port. It was a nice 50min walk.
FUJIWARA — Google review
Amazing piece of art. Photos are not allowed inside for which I am very thankful. It was a calming but profoundly moving experience. It can be very crowded. Make sure to reserve your slot in advance.
Em U — Google review
Moving and important work of art. Everyone should make a pilgrimage to this place. It's simplicity done absolutely perfectly. The reinforced concrete form frames the beautiful landscape. Water pools and moves across its hydrophobic floor. The sun (or rain) comes in through two large holes and guests warm themselves in sunspots like cats. Come here first or last in your day but give yourself time to sit and reflect in the space. Do not have a rushed or stressful mind. This place is a temple and prepare to meditate. I pent a long time there and as I was leaving I said goodbye to space and cried. I feel so lucky to have been there.
Steven F — Google review
The masterpiece by SANAA. Cannot take a photo inside the museum. It's a bit hard to go by ship and shuttle bus, but worth it! I recommend pumpkin ice cream at the shop!
Yerina C — Google review
Overpriced and overrated. Definitely not worth 2,000 yen. Keep your cash and go visit a free shrine somewhere - a more authentic (and cheaper) meditative option. Also, please note that they don't allow people to buy tickets on site. You have to buy online and it quickly 'fills up', although the site is pretty much empty throughout the day. The island though is cute.
Lucas P — Google review
Outstanding Museum Where Architecture, Art, and Nature Breathe as One As photographers for Photolator, the Teshima Art Museum left us profoundly moved. Designed by Ryue Nishizawa and dedicated to the work of artist Rei Naito, the museum is unlike any other — a serene, organic space where art, architecture, and the surrounding landscape merge into a single living experience. The structure itself resembles a water droplet gently resting on the hilltop. Inside, there are no paintings or sculptures in the traditional sense — instead, the space is alive with light, shadow, wind, and the slow movement of water on the smooth concrete floor. Every moment inside feels unique, with natural elements constantly shifting and creating new visual compositions for the lens. Photography is restricted inside, but even without capturing images, the experience fuels creative vision. The surrounding views of the Seto Inland Sea and the peaceful approach to the museum offer plenty of photographic opportunities. For Photolator, the Teshima Art Museum is more than a destination — it’s a reminder that sometimes the most powerful inspiration comes from simply observing, feeling, and being present. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Paul P — Google review
The architecture is so well integrated with the landscape and the art inside it. It flows all naturally and beautifully.

Italian restaurant
If you find yourself in Shodoshima, make sure to treat your taste buds at Buon Compagno, a charming Italian restaurant that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With nearly a decade of living in Japan, I can confidently say that the service and food quality here are exceptional. The portions are generous—perfect for sharing! From the delightful Caesar salad to mouthwatering pasta dishes and authentic pizzas like Prosciutto and Bacon & Mushroom, every bite is a celebration of flavor.
We were craving pasta and needed food in general and sooo glad we found this little restaurant. The caesar salad was SO good and big (enough to share for 3/4!), and the pasta portions were huge. So satisfied and happy. Love the decor as well!! The owner was a champ, cooking and doing everything by himself 😍

Izakaya restaurant
Japanese restaurant
The general had a strong preference for Ajisai, an izakaya restaurant known for its excellent seafood. The staff was attentive and inquired about the customer's preferences, budget, and purpose before offering suggestions. The cost performance of the menu was exceptional, leaving the customer extremely satisfied. The food served at Ajisai was not only fresh but also generously portioned.
Wonderful. The chef's cooking was perfect. The sashimi I had there was the best I have had in a very long time of living in Japan Service was great. Price was VERY reasonable. About 4000- 5000 yen per person including a few drinks and you'll leave very satisfied. Of you're a non drinker probably 2000-3000 would do it. They thankfully have an English menu available too.

Service was very bad. Over priced and food wasn’t very good. Avoid if you can.

(Translated by Google) I used it when I went on a trip to Shodoshima with my friend and family. Since it was a three-day holiday, only those who had made advance reservations were able to enter. It felt somewhat nostalgic, like an old-fashioned izakaya. The food was very delicious. Great food when served! It got me in the mood for traveling. Everything on the menu I ordered was delicious. Especially the soup is amazing! You can see that they take a lot of time and effort to make the soup stock. I want to make it at home, but I don't think it would be possible to reproduce it lol I regret that I should have bought Nozawana Nori as a souvenir. Thank you to the general and staff for the meal! ! (Translated by Google) I made a reservation on a Friday night the day before a three-day holiday in the latter half of September 2024. I chose this restaurant because it was the closest to the hotel I was staying at. I had high expectations since the reviews weren't that bad, but I was left with a slightly disappointing impression. When I arrived at the store, the appetizer was already placed on my seat. Turban shell, grilled fish, and edamame. Aside from edamame, turban shells and grilled fish are naturally cold. The amount is too large for an appetizer. The restaurant seemed to be run by a single woman, who was busy carrying the food, making it difficult to time the order. Considering the number of seats, I think 2-3 people are needed. The friendliness wasn't bad though. The amount of somen was large. It was just enough for two people to eat. The best part was the Ochazuke. As you can see in the photo, the rice was roughly arranged and sprinkled with ochazuke seaweed. It was my first time to have ochazuke like this at an izakaya, and I was amazed. It's not that expensive, but I don't think I'll come back. Payment was in cash only.

The store is spacious with a counter and a tatami room. The menu mainly consists of local fish dishes. There are various I also ordered an assortment of sashimi and the rare fried okoze. It has a lot of sashimi and is fresh. The okoze was also freshly fried and crispy and delicious. Moreover, they are all reasonably priced and of high quality. It seems like a lot of famous people come here, probably because there's a rather large hotel right in front of it. Restaurant
Shima Kitchen is a charming local eatery known for its excellent traditional dishes prepared by friendly elderly women. The menu typically offers two options, such as fried fish or vegetable curry, both made with locally sourced ingredients. However, due to the restaurant's popularity, it's advisable to arrive early as they tend to run out of certain dishes quickly. The interior exudes a pleasant atmosphere with beautiful architecture and the option to sit at low tables or at the bar overlooking the kitchen.
There's a fully vegetarian menu available (upon request) and it's delicious! The vegetables used are biological and harvested locally, then charred and served with rice, pickles and soup. The flavors were so on point! Make sure to arrive early because there's a waiting list. Inside the restaurant I noticed some empty seats, I'm not sure why they were not allowing customers to occupy all available space.

Absolutely fantastic! I took a lunch break on Teshima Island and went to Shima Kitchen. Enjoyed a delicious menu with plenty of local fish and vegetables. The service was great. The portions in the plates are very good. The atmosphere is very cozy. Shima Kitchen has established itself as a local platform, connecting people together through art and food. Highly recommend! I’ll definitely come again.

Delicious lunch place with fresh and local ingredients from the island! The restaurant is very charming too. It's super popular so make a reservation beforehand if you can. I wasn't able to book in advance but I arrived at 12pm and they put my name down for 1pm. You can explore the art exhibits in the area while waiting :)

Most important tip is that this place is very popular. If you want to eat here at 12, you must get here by 11:30 to wait in line. The food was delicious, but overpriced? I got charged twice the amount for my lunch set. The soda was ok. The pudding was very good. My meal was not worth 4500 yen. I would rather go to the restaurant next door.
Bianca N — Google review
Artistic food enjoyment: the kitchen is visible at the entrance, you either sit around the kitchen island or in a great hallway with large windows. You order at the entrance and pay in advance. They were helpful, attentive and friendly, even to children, which is unfortunately not the case everywhere on this island. Tip: Correctly adjusting Google Maps opening times would be helpful for tourists.

Top-notch service! This place graciously accommodated my celiac disease. Whatever you do: get the pudding. It is the richest, creamiest crème brûlée like custard with a deeply caramelized sugar syrup waiting for you at the bottom. I wanted to eat 10 more of them!

Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Studio, located in Shodoshima, is a picturesque vintage-style village that served as the set for the iconic film 'Twenty-Four Eyes.' The novel, written by Tsuboi Sakae in 1952, tells the story of a schoolteacher and her twelve first-grade students during World War II. The movie studio features a traditional fisherman's house and a wooden elementary school, offering visitors a glimpse into Japan's past.
This is a lovely.place to visit, even if you are not familiar with the film. It is like visiting a folk museum, as there are well curated displays of artefacts as well as a stream with fish and sea cucumbers to spot. There is a good atmosphere and little cafes and restaurants dotted about. The staff in the gift shop were very kind as was the person on the ticket office. There is a boat service across the bay to the Shodoshima Olive Park and beach etc.

You need to pay to visit the site but I think it’s worth it. Very beautiful and relaxing. Some of the time they have tours coming in, so it’s abit crowded. Many place to take photos so if you like taking photo you must go. Many parking outside the site so no need to worry.

My wife really enjoyed some of the books which were based of some of the movie which were filmed here. If you are a historical japanese movie buff black and white movie etc you may have seen one or two that was filmed here. You can go into every building and see photos and articles from all the old movie. If you don't like old movies maybe not worth the visit

Nice scenery but the building and expo are a littéralement bit messy. I would have expect more fous on cinéma world. Many housse just host shop selling unrelated art stuff. Maybe good for a quick stop (but ticket is 1000 yens per adult.

I only stayed outside as I only got 15 mins before the bus comes. I need to catch this bus as my luggage storage ends at 4:30pm. It looks pretty good from the outside, I manage to take a peak from the gaps of the gate, inside seem to have the houses you see in a samurai movie. Visited on 1 Apr 2025

This place exceeded my expectations… admittedly it was a gorgeous day to see the coast and buildings, but a fascinating spot to learn about early Japanese film making and culture. The coffee shop has Italian sodas which hit the spot in the 35 degree heat! The carp and cod to feed in the river are also huge!!!

An old style Japanese film studio. Has some sets and a museum you can visit and walk through. It’s small but if you’re in Shodoshima you didn’t come for large scale things. This is a fun place to walk around. Super cheap admission price. Standard Japanese gift shop for you to shop at inside too.

The Marukin Soy Sauce Museum, a former soy sauce factory on Shodoshima Island, offers educational displays and a shop where visitors can even try soy sauce ice cream. Established in 1904, the museum showcases the island's 400-year history of soy sauce production. While touring the massive indoor space with exposed wooden beams, guests can learn about the process of making soy sauce and see vats of beans and malt percolating.
Learned a lot about soy sauce in this museum! Good smell everywhere and delicious soy sauce ice cream is a must for the visit:)
Ilykwan — Google review
Short and simple museum, but very good value as you get a complimentary bottle of soy sauce plus 100¥ discount for the shop. The soft serve soy sauce ice cream is really good. Worth walking up the road to the nearby sake brewery and bakery, they're really good.
Holly P — Google review
We were disappointed in this museum. There is no interactivity at all, just exhibition items. We were hoping to be able to see the soy sauce production but there is nothing like that here. The soy sauce soft serve ice cream was tasty tho.
Crina B — Google review
It is a beautiful place full of aroma and history. You need to pay a small fee to enter the museum but you’ll find plenty of informations on the soy sauce factory process inside. Worth a visit if you’re in the neighbourhood. The soft serve could be a tiny bit more flavourful ! If you visit when there is a tourist bus incoming, it can be crowded inside.
Courrier F — Google review
Nice to stop by if you are in the island - it’s interesting to know how soy sauce has been made in old days. Soy sauce ice cream is sold at the small shop next to the museum which seems to be more popular than the museum itself. Some souvenirs are also available. Free parking available and the whole area smells like soy sauce.
Aya M — Google review
A great way to find out how soy sauce is made! In the museum there were English explanations under the Japanese, so even though I can read kanji fairly well I felt like I understood the process better 😉 We couldn’t tour the factory but we did see the vats of beans and malt percolating. And the smell was something else!!
Julie M — Google review

The Kankakei Ropeway is a must-visit attraction for nature enthusiasts and casual travelers alike. Located in the heart of Shodoshima island, it offers breathtaking views of the Kankakei Gorge, one of Japan's most stunning valleys. As the only ropeway in Japan where you can take in panoramic vistas of the sky, valley, and sea simultaneously, it promises an unforgettable experience.
Great experience, especially in the late November with the autumn leaves 🍁 The views were really beautiful and you really get to see the mountains up close. There were a lot of visitors, but the wait time wasn't that bad, because the ropeway goes up pretty frequently.
Karri H — Google review
An absolutely breathtaking experience. The ropeway ride offers stunning views of the mountains, valleys, and the Seto Inland Sea. From the top, the scenery is spectacular and perfect for photos, especially on a clear day. The ride is smooth and comfortable, and it’s one of the highlights of visiting Shodoshima. A must-do if you want to enjoy nature from above and capture unforgettable landscapes. 🌿🚡✨
EryArt 3 — Google review
Even though the ropeway is expensive and old (2700 Yen return), it is really the only way to truly appreciate Kankakei Gorge. The views from both car parkings are ok but nothing comparable to the ones while riding the ropeway, especially in Autumn. It changes slightly every year but it should be pretty red between 12-28th of November.

I took a couple of cable cars going up the mountains in Shikoku during my visit. This is one of them that I think it’s not quite worth it. The cable car was expensive and there isn’t much to see. 🫣🫣🫣 I think you could also drive up there since I saw a car park there. Amazing view but you can see these views in many places in Japan. I think we stayed around 15-20mins and then took the cable car back down. I would say it’s a place for locals to hike. If you have time you can hike since they have a trail for hiking but for tourists like us we didn’t have time to enjoy the hike.
Shelley L — Google review
The station was not large and seemed quite old. Adjacent to the building was a souvenir shop and a fast food eatery, providing outdoor seats too. A large outdoor carpark was next to the station. The scene from the viewing point was great, including the mountain, the city, and the outlying islands. The toilets were large and clean. The staff were very nice, reminding guests nearby of the car departure time. If the visitor was in a rush, they even skipped the check ticket procedure in order to save time.
Joseph C — Google review
Gorgeous breathtaking scenery. The souvenir shop at the summit is okay. But the food stall at the summit is below average. Better to bring your own picnic up, or eat something back down.
Wei W — Google review
Nice view from the top. Ropeway itself is not too exciting, but the view is. Quite expensive for Japan (6000¥ one-way). Shuttle bus from the Port to the Ropeway and back is free, so i guess it’s even.

Step into the captivating world of Japanese yokai at Yokai Art Museum #1, where you can explore the rich cultural heritage of spiritual creatures and monsters. Discover famous yokai such as the kappa, nekomata, and spider woman alongside lesser-known species. The museum offers a unique and immersive experience that is sure to pique your interest. With its diverse collection of monstrous art, this museum is a must-visit for those seeking an intriguing adventure into Japanese folklore.
The audio guide of this museum is extremly good. Some voice actors get into the role of one of the yokais and tell you their story. The story was captivating. They did a really good job here.
Katharina D — Google review
Overpriced. Don’t think it qualifies to be a “museum/gallery”, more a fun place for social media. Some of the exhibitions seemed to be “work in progress”, and the seemingly completed exhibition felt somewhat random. To be fair, some of the artwork inside were quite nice. But the “museum” did a poor job presenting them. Personally, both money and time are better spent elsewhere.
Matt — Google review
If you’re extremely fond of yokai would probably like it. They can use apps to learn about the history of yokai in detail. However, if you only want to see an interesting exhibition, it might disappoint them. The two exhibitions are located in different houses. If children are going to see them, they should be careful about safety because some of the stairs are quite steep.

"心臓音のアーカイブ Les Archives du Cœur" is a unique and thought-provoking experience located in a remote and serene part of the island. Housed in a small, minimalistic building, this installation allows visitors to leave a tiny bit of their heart as part of an art piece. The space captures tens of thousands of heartbeats, creating an atmosphere that is both eerie and wonderful.
This was a pretty cool exhibit and interactive- you can record your own heart beat and it'll be archived there for you and others to listen. Their location is nice, just by the waters.
Candice — Google review
You're gonna go here on any visit to Teshima probably, but I wouldn't recommend to go out of your way to visit here. It's mostly an archive of heartbeat recordings that you get to navigate through. You can record your own heartbeat as well but you'll have to pay for it. The one remotely interesting room is a dark room with mirrors and a light bulb reacting to the presently playing heartbeat. Very eerie and strange.
Jeroen — Google review
We visited Teshima with the purpose of visiting here due to it being featured in the book the library of heartbeats. The museum is simple, and a little pricey but my mother could record her heartbeat which was her wish so she was very satisfied. The beaches around the museum are beautiful
Eat L — Google review
OK. This one’s a bit quirky, but it had its power. Choosing to hear random peoples’ hearts while staring at the Inland Sea may not sound like art but the whole process is undeniably a solid piece of it. Much to love, including the walk from the Teshima Museum. A hint: don’t take the main road back but the one through the forest…it’s a gorgeous walk and adds only a little time.
Eric L — Google review
This installation had an interesting concept but the execution felt oddly clinical rather than artistic. You stand in a small, dark room listening to strangers’ heartbeats through speakers while watching a light bulb flicker in rhythm. The whole experience reminded me more of being at a cardiologist’s office than an art gallery - and if you have to visit a cardiologist, things usually aren’t going well for you! 😅 I get that Boltanski was going for something profound about human connection and the essence of life, but it just didn’t land for me. The heartbeat audio was loud monotonous, sometimes irregular (clinically bad) than moving, and watching a synchronized light bulb felt gimmicky rather than meaningful. The optional recording booth where you can add your own heartbeat to the archive didn’t help shake the medical clinic vibe. After experiencing the breathtaking Teshima Art Museum and other incredible installations on the island, this one flatlined by comparison. It’s not that it was expensive or took too long - it just wasn’t worth the effort of getting there. The concept sounds better on paper than it feels in person. Art is subjective of course, but this felt more like a clinical exam than an emotionally resonant experience. If you’re island-hopping and have limited time, I’d suggest focusing on the other amazing installations Teshima has to offer.
Paul H — Google review
Small single installation in a very beautiful minimal design building in a remote and serene part of the island. The installation, frankly scared the **** out of me. My partner and I were the only ones there and if you can experience being in that room alone.... I highly recommend it. Nightmare inducing, at the cost of an oddly strange, thought provoking and wonderful experience. Pictures not allowed, you can't capture the experience with a camera anyways.

We had a wonderful time at this izakaya! We enjoyed fantastic takoyaki in addition to other tasty dishes. The restaurant is perfectly decorated with a vintage vibe and the ambiance was laid back. I forgot to gave a review but to recall the memories it was the worst experience in our trip for setonai sea. Two stars for food, the taste of food is good. But the owner seems in a bad temper at the day when we were visiting. We spoke Japanese and ordered enough food, I had a zoom meeting for 90 minutes but I didn't talk in the store, all I did was just listening. Because for lunch menu there is not many options. After lunch I ordered another coffee bc I don't wanna be rude without ordering after lunch. But just as the time I finished coffee, the owner said the store was closing and hoping me to leave. Alright make sense, but when I was wearing my shoes, there was a couple entering and asked if the store is still open and the owner said yes in front me. Lol excuse me..? According the last reviews the owner seems should be a friendly person, but his attitude was really aggressive at that day when we visited the store.

Morikuni Sake Brewery is a charming and stylish establishment that offers a variety of spirits in its cafe and bar, along with delectable cakes and alcohol-infused ice cream. The brewery's lovely environment and beautifully decorated restaurant make for an excellent experience. Additionally, it has a bakery nearby that serves delicious freshly fried bread. While the selection of food may be limited, the quality is exceptional, especially the recommended cake set and soup.
We had a tasting set of sake which was a really nice way to try a few. Also had some amazing pickles, and some hot amazake which was a highlight, absolutely delicious. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the menu has some tasting notes in English. It's also just a lovely cosy, relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful old building. They've got a range of interesting non-alcoholic drinks if you're not a drinker. Photo is of the amazake with some ginger-soy sauce pickles.

Hidden away off one of the main roads. Menu has some English, but you can get by with Google translate and a very friendly staff. Seating is small and intimate, with some space for larger parties. Sake was very nice with some interesting subtleties with the olive yeast they use. Their bakery is on the walk there as well. Food is mostly light cafe with a more substantial lunch set that was very good. I had an extremely enjoyable time, would absolutely return.

If you like Sake and its scum, you would love the food. Also the place was really quiet and peaceful in Japanese traditional building. Highly recommend it to go.

I really enjoy the sake from Shodoshima. It’s made with olive yeast, which gives it a distinctive fragrance and a light, clean taste.

Very lovely environment here! Not many choices of food actually. I went there for lunch and there was only one set meal for me to choose. HOWEVER!!! The food was so good especially the soup. The restaurant itself was very nicely decorated too!

Nice lunch menu, including tea and a small sweet. The setting is lovely and there are several different types of sake to try!

Lunch can be reserved before in their website. Even walk in will be okay during weekday. All the staff are helpful. The food and atmosphere are good for relaxing.

We went on a rainy day, there were no people there other than us. The atmosphere was so peaceful, like a Ghibli film. The sounds of nature accompanied with the local grown food was so amazing. The guy there was so friendly, we had to cancel the tea because we had to hurry to catch the bus and he allowed us to change the meal set at the last moment.

Excellent experience. Chef only had 1 reservation that night - me. But he still accepted it. Restaurant was in a traditional Japanese house with multiple rooms and seating options. Sat near the large shoji window overlooking the garden. Food was excellent with many surprises featuring local ingredients like goya (bitter gourd), olive fed beef etc. Reasonably priced for a 5 course meal. Will recommend and return.

We were treated very well and the food was extremely fresh. One of the best I've been in my life. The menu was a reinterpretation of traditional and contemporary asian food, with well served portions. If you are in the area, you should reserve to eat at this place.
Ariel C — Google review
This place is not easy to locate, but it is worth finding. It immerses you deeper into a local community - quaint and peaceful. You will have no choice but to slow down and feel the air in a dining hall by a small Japanese Garden. The place can host around 6+ groups of diners and is managed by a lady. She does everything by herself - receiving the guests, taking orders, making coffee/tea, cooking, serving, and handling payment. All by herself, with grace and a great attitude. It feels like she wants to take care of each of her guests and not make them wait too long. We really enjoyed the food, every bit of it. I really appreciate the Japanese "Mottainai" philosophy and their approach to food. The vegetables, carbohydrates, and proteins were properly portioned, leaving you with a satisfying feeling at the end of the set meal. Local seasonal ingredients were used, ensuring freshness was at its peak. There was no excessive seasoning; instead, subtle touches like a hint of mustard on top of the pork dishes were added just enough to enhance the natural sweetness of the meat. After the meal, if you happen to have a bit of time before the next bus arrives, I highly recommend taking a quiet stroll in the neighborhood. It's a perfect opportunity to soak in the surroundings and savor the peaceful atmosphere.

Beautiful restaurant and we ate lunch on tatami mats overlooking the garden. The lunch set was delicious! Some of the best pork I have ever had. Wonderful coffee and I had the chiffon cake with freshly whipped cream for dessert. Highly recommend!!

The Berry smoothie is "must-try"!! 🍓🫐 although it's seasonal. It was very tasty! I had the olive pork plate. Pork was good and tender, also it had lots of veggies as well. They have vegetarian option too. The place is a old Japanese house where has a nice, unique atmosphere. Ryoko san, the owner, is super nice! Tips: You can make a reservation but it needs to be two business days before! I will go back there for sure when I'm in Teshima next time!

Syokudo and Teishoku restaurant
Komame Shokudo is a charming cafe located in a renovated old private house nestled in the mountains of Shodoshima. The cafe offers breathtaking views of the surrounding rice terraces, making it a picturesque spot for visitors. One of their popular menu items is the Rice Terrace Onigiri Set, made with rice grown in the nearby terraces, providing not only delicious food but also an Instagram-worthy experience.
Parked at the public gym and then walk over. Arrived at 11.30am where there wasn’t much people. More customers started coming in around noon. Food tasted like a comforting home cooked meal. Shrimp was extremely fresh and shrimpy. Everything was lightly fried and not too greasy. Rice was delicious which was made extra special by the lightly seasoned seaweed. Wish they had the seaweed for sale. Fish and vegetables were fresh. Somen was light and refreshing. Even the side dishes were executed perfectly. Wanted to purchase the muffins and jumped on the opportunity when they had a flash sale. We got chocolate chip almonds and cranberry rum raisin for 200yen each which tasted fluffy and amazing! Staff were welcoming. After taking our orders, they showed us around and let us choose our seats. We chose to sit indoors as the farmers were burning things outside. There was a sink to wash our hands since there was fried fish.
Mark F — Google review
Beautiful location to have lunch. They cook local foods but other than that it’s nothing special about food. They use tables and chairs like the ones used at elementary schools so they are too small for adults. No air conditioning here so it’s so hot in summer.
Hiroki I — Google review
I wish my stomach had more capacity for both the onigiri set and the beef hamburger! SO SO SO GOOD! When you bite into the burger, the fresh and crisp vegetables, juicy and flavourful beef patty, and fragrant bun all go very well together. Onigiri set was very well done too!
Karyn W — Google review
Simple wholesome onigiri set and yummy burger that we had as a takeaway. They have a pretty efficient system. Came here at 2 plus and as they couldn’t sit us as they were closing soon, asked us to come back at 3 pm to collect our food for takeaway. Works well as we have a nice 30 mins to walk around and take pictures at the nearby Love in Shodoshima artwork amongst the rice paddy fields.
Lovey L — Google review
Wonderful little cafe. We stopped on for a bite on the way to see the rice fields. It was a little crowded so the staff asked if we would eat on the terrace. But they were so worried we would get cold they kept bringing out blankets and hot water bottles. It was very kind of them. Enjoyed my Ice cream. It was soy sauce flavored?? but still delicious!

Amazing place near the rice fields and old farmers kabuki theatre. Great food and service. Super nice owner. Cozy and a must visit on this island. Good view from the terrace. They do serve burgers but and they look great, but I suggest trying their fish. Also they have kids set and this place is dog friendly.

Day 3

North side of town
For day 3, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Teshima Yokoo House, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Meiro no machi (Maze Town). All together, your day would be filled with about 12 hours of non-stop fun.

Teshima Yokoo House is a one-of-a-kind art gallery located in a former private residence, now showcasing modern artworks and featuring a vibrant garden and unique restroom facilities. This collaborative project between artist Tadanori Yokoo and architect Yuko Nagayama has creatively utilized colors and artwork to transform the space into an immersive museum experience. Visitors can explore the original wooden beams and traditional Japanese architectural elements while admiring eleven dynamic artworks displayed throughout the main house.
Very interesting scenography. Contemporary architecture respecting the old house features. Quite surprising space! Nice dialog between the art pieces and the architecture. (No photos inside)

I really enjoyed both the space itself as well as the artworks inside. It's a fairly quick visit - not more than 20-30 mins probably - but some of the paintings really leave an impression. The garden is also very beautiful, and stepping into the outhouse is super cool too.
Gaurav B — Google review
I absolutely loved this museum! It's small but the architecture, the layout, it all leads to a final piece so pay attention to each piece of art. I especially loved the red rocks and red windows. It reminded me of blood. I highly recommend this museum.
Gabrielle — Google review
Great art house in Teshima- Yokoo House was built in a renovated old house, so when wandering inside, make sure to admire the original wooden beams and low entranceways typical of an old, Japanese house. Of course everyone who visits is also impressed by the colorful modern art, modern design & out-of-this-world glass bottom floor, red-rock waterfall, vivid imagery & powerful colors. Love this artist & actually wish I could move in here! The waterfall chimney is awesome (make sure to whisper).

Nestled among the captivating museums of Teshima, the Storm House offers a truly unique experience that immerses visitors in an environment reminiscent of relentless storms. This artistic installation brilliantly captures the essence of nature's fury while simultaneously evoking feelings of safety and comfort akin to that found in traditional homes on the island. In terms of an art installation, maybe this is not the most intriguing stuff, but it was quite awesome just to play with balls. There are many balls in the basket, so you can have fun.

Fun and playful artwork but the surroundings are quite depressing and left almost abandoned. It's just 5min from the ferry harbor so you can pass by! Free entrance, accessible always.

Alright, buckle up, folks, 'cause we're about to dive into the wild world of multi-basket basketball courts. Picture this: you stroll onto the court, and bam! You're hit with not one, not two, but a whole smorgasbord of hoops. You've got hoops for days, hoops for nights, hoops for every mood and occasion. It's like a hoops carnival, and you're the star attraction. So grab your ball, lace up those sneakers, and get ready to unleash your inner hoops maestro on this multi-basket masterpiece. It's a slam dunk waiting to happen, folks!

Very calming space, quick visit but worth it for the nice view and olive trees The staff was really helpful, no audio guides in English but still English texts with explanations and a cool map were given, pretty post cards and free tea, candy and olive tasting
Ayla — Google review
Visited Millennium Olive Terrace to see the famous 1000-year-old tree on Shodoshima. While the view is lovely, offering a clear sight of the three islands of Angel Road, I’m not sure it’s worth the drive for just a single tree. The space is quite small, especially considering the JPY 1,000 entrance fee per person. We spent no more than 20 minutes there, and I would suggest sending just one person to take photos. On the positive side, the staff were incredibly helpful, going out of their way to make our short visit as enjoyable as possible. They even helped us take family photos and served us some tea with a sweet, which was a nice touch. Overall, while the view and staff were nice, the experience didn’t quite match the value for the cost.
Andrew L — Google review
We biked and passed by this place and thought maybe there had sth nice to see. It turned out to be one 1000 years old Oliver tree and one candy and one Oliver tea. It was just like modern art that with a bit of self meditation and imagination it would worth the 1000 yen we paid per person. Which thb I would prefer those museums in naoshima.
Jerry — Google review
Was disappointed but was wondering how the century old tree will look like. But their hospitality was good.

Historic Walking Areas
Maze Town, also known as Tonosho Town, is a popular tourist destination that features intricate alleyways and a mix of shops, cafes, and an art museum. The town has a maze-like layout that resembles back alleys found in various places like the shopping street in Onomichi. While some visitors find it challenging to navigate through the labyrinthine streets, others appreciate the experience of exploring them on foot instead of biking.

Kawing N — Google review
(Translated by Google) The town has complicated alleys, and the name was given because they look like a maze. It is said that it was intentionally built to protect the islanders from enemy invasion, but the exact reason is unknown. Basically, castle towns have complicated streetscapes. This is because they are designed to prevent enemies from charging straight into them. On the other hand, they are designed to allow for interception (when attacking), so the roads are kept wide to a certain extent. However, these streets are too narrow, so could soldiers carrying guns have passed through them? Considering this, it seems that these streets were not designed but rather naturally developed. By the way, Tokyo has been "redeveloped" recently, and the streets have become much nicer. However, until about 50 years ago, there were many small roads that were not accessible to cars, let alone bicycles. Of course, there were unpaved roads all over the city that smelled of urine and had dog (or maybe human?) ****s rolling around. The "20th Century Boys" ran around such towns. I wonder if the air raids were the reason why such maze-like alleys were left in Tokyo? Immediately after the war, Tokyo was bombed by the US military and turned into a wasteland, with many lands where entire families were killed and owners unknown. I think that because other people "owned and developed" such lands without permission, the streets separated by narrow private roads were created. In any case, the "handwritten registration documents" of the time could have been easily rewritten... This area is described in detail in Matsumoto Seicho's "Suna no Utsuwa" (Vessel of Sand), so if you are interested, please check it out. 2025.6.15

(Translated by Google) There was a sign next to the Tonosho Town Hall that said ``Maze Town,'' so I decided to take a walk around it, but the area around the sign was probably due to redevelopment, and the buildings had been demolished, leaving parking lots and vacant lots with good visibility. It felt like it was trying to become a town, and it didn't feel like a maze town at all. Looking at the map, it doesn't seem like it's a maze unless you walk a little further. I thought that if we were to revitalize the town, we would need to devise measures such as making signboards and showing maps showing which areas are in the maze.

Nestled beside the Teshima Yokoo House, Teshima no Mado is a charming café that was once a seaweed processing site. This quaint hut, adorned with vintage furniture and art, offers a cozy ambiance perfect for relaxation. With only four tables, it feels intimate and inviting. Guests can indulge in homemade meals like fresh bread served with delightful side dishes and soup. The seasonal scones are particularly noteworthy; currently featuring a chai flavor that boasts a crispy exterior and hints of coconut.
Highly recommended. Teshima no Mado has the most fantastic cozy atmosphere with some of the most delicious breads and cakes I have had anywhere. I wish I could have spent more time there - it was honestly one of the most memorable places I visited this trip!

Cute cafe. Small with only four tables. Lots of books which you can peruse and retro crockery. The scone flavours are seasonal (currently, it's chai). It's more of an American style scone. Crispy outside and flavourful with hints of coconut. Nice place to rest for a while.

We waited for the cafe to open at the advertised 10am but it didn’t. When we asked the owner she said she had decided to open at 1030. So we had wasted time waiting. She also wasn’t welcoming or apologetic. Big thumbs down.

Joyfull Shodoshima is a culinary gem that offers an exquisite dining experience, showcasing the rich flavors of local ingredients. Each morning, guests are greeted with a beautifully arranged breakfast spread featuring both Western and Japanese delights, including hot pot piglets, sashimi, and unique vegetarian noodles that defy expectations with their delightful texture. The dinner menu boasts tender beef and succulent abalone alongside homemade dishes enhanced by local black soy sauce and olive oil.
Since Shodoshima’s most restaurants operates are very narrow timing. This was the only option for my family when we want to eat outside usual meal times. But the food was good. Saizeriya-like standard. And it’s also very affordable. Suitable for children. Clean toilets and plenty of seating with free parking.

The menu is easy to understand bc of the pcitures and the prices are reasonable. Remember, this is a diner, so it can be... kinda dirty sometimes but it's never gross. Just "diner dirty" like Waffle House or Denny's. Btw, if you have a pizza craving, don't order it here. You're gonna have to shell out for Pizza-La if you want the good stuff.

Syokudo and Teishoku restaurant
Nagisa is a beloved dining spot that locals rave about, making reservations essential for an enjoyable experience. This charming restaurant allows smoking, so it's wise to confirm this when booking your table. The generous portion sizes make it ideal for solo diners who might prefer the set menu option. Each dish is expertly seasoned, and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, eager to recommend seasonal fish and other delightful options.
The staff make this place amazing. They are so warm and friendly! Thank you so much for an amazing dinner. The food was also better than expected. The seafood here is special.

"Sorry, tourists aren't welcome" (really got told this when I called... she said it's because of corona)

(Translated by Google) A popular restaurant where reservations are required. This restaurant is loved by locals. Smoking is permitted, so please confirm this by phone when making a reservation. The portions are quite generous, so if you're dining alone, the set menu might be a better choice. Everything is deliciously seasoned, and when I asked the staff for recommendations, they were very kind and helpful, recommending dishes that balanced my order and introducing seasonal fish! Everything was truly delicious, and I was very satisfied. It was a wonderful trip and a memory. I'd definitely like to come back here again!

(Translated by Google) I visited without a reservation around 5 pm in the evening. Actually, it might be safer to make a reservation. There is a parking lot nearby where you can park several cars. This place is really fresh and delicious 😄 Sashimi and tempura made with locally caught fish are the best 👍 I had to write my order on the slip myself🙌 The store clerk was also nice and I was very satisfied 😆 (Original)

(Translated by Google) It's a perfect dinner! We ordered beef, chicken, fish and pork, every dish is tasty! They treated us friendly with patience even we don't speak Japanese. We appreciate very much for the kindness of the restaurant 🙏 Friends from Taiwan, this restaurant is really delicious! Although I don't speak Japanese, the store owner is very patient and very friendly 😍We ordered pork, beef, fish, grilled chicken skewers, delicious and high CP! Every dish is great, stewed beef tendon and grilled chicken skewers are recommended. I cleared the plate with a grateful heart☺️ (Original) It's a perfect dinner! (Translated by Google) This restaurant was recommended by the landlady of the inn where I was staying. The boiled fish served as an appetizer was already delicious. The sashimi platter was so extravagant it was hard to believe it was just one portion, and it included conger eel and other fish. Other dishes that were also delicious were the butter-fried beikha fish and stir-fried asparagus, specialties of Shodoshima.

(Translated by Google) Even though we arrived at a busy time without a reservation, the staff were very polite and I was impressed. They had a lovely, gentle and friendly personality. The food was also delicious, starting with the fish appetizer, which made the beer go down well! Next time I come, I'd like to sit at the counter and enjoy a chat with the staff; this is a truly wonderful restaurant.

(Translated by Google) I visited this restaurant after being told about it by a nearby lodging. Normally I don't like sea bream, but when I tried the sea bream that was served as an appetizer I was shocked at how delicious it was! The squid, the flounder, everything was tasty! It's been a long time since I've had such a good restaurant. It's busy every day with locals so it's hard to get a reservation, but if you find a seat you're lucky. If I go to Shodoshima again I'd definitely like to visit again and make a reservation early.

Restaurant
Umi no Restaurant is a waterfront eatery that used to be known for its delicious pizza and breathtaking views of the surrounding area. However, as of June 2023, the restaurant has transitioned its menu to focus on Italian pasta and salads only. Despite this change, visitors can still enjoy the beautiful setting by the water and a nice selection of wine and beer.
I usually avoid Italian restaurants when I’m abroad—being Italian, I tend to be picky about them. But in Teshima, with limited dining options, we decided to give one a try. And guess what? I’d actually recommend this place now! The food was absolutely delicious. My top recommendation? The lemon pasta! Sounds surprising, right? But the sauce had such a perfect texture and an incredible flavor that I just had to take a picture. And a special mention goes to the wonderfully friendly staff. All in all, a truly memorable experience—highly recommended!

Tried this place after seeing it recommended by an influencer. The view is excellent and definitely worth seeing. Food-wise, they only serve set meals priced around ¥3,500–4,000. Portions are quite small, so if you’re a big eater, this may not be the place for you. Taste is decent, but the atmosphere is what really boosts the rating. Reservations are a must, even during off-peak seasons as they prepare ingredients based on reservation.

If you're in the mood for a delicious pizza and an amazing view, look no further than this waterfront pizzeria. With its prime location right by the water, this place offers a stunning vista of the surrounding area that's sure to take your breath away. But the view is just the beginning - the pizza here is absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend trying the chili pizza, which is topped with just the right amount of spice to give it a satisfying kick without overwhelming your taste buds. Every slice is loaded with a generous amount of high-quality toppings that are sure to satisfy even the most discerning pizza lover. What really sets this pizzeria apart is the combination of great food and a breathtaking view. It's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a delicious meal while taking in the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service is always top-notch. Overall, I highly recommend this pizzeria to anyone who loves good food and a great view - you won't be disappointed!

Charming setting with a spacious dining and zen vibe. Japanese fusion in a casual though tasty way. 3 starters including fish carpaccio and eggplant mouse. All are mains also spectacular. Limited hours to plan accordingly.

I have to say, everything here is perfect! First of all, Do try the Special Bouillabaisse Pasta, it is soooo good! I would like to lick the plate. Second, the staff here are very professional and helpful, and they speak perfect English too. Third, look at the view here, the sea ,the island ,the cloud.

Pizza 🍕 was great but not savoy Tokyo level. The chilli pizza was very spicy 🥵 I also enjoyed the oyster pizza. The view was awesome though, so I recommend booking ahead so that you can request a table next to the water 🌊

If you're looking for a place for your group go eat on the island. This is the place you want to go. If you're biking here, bike parking gets full around noon. Reservations recommended. I also recommend 1 pizza 🍕 per adult. Service is fast and the view on a sunny day is unbeatable. Credit cards accepted.

Well-designed atmosphere and great selection of specialty island beer. The architectural detailing and its relationship to the adjacent sea is remarkable. Exceptional food quality. One of the best restaurant experiences in Japan.
