Canyons
Pai Canyon, also known as Kong Lan, is a must-visit destination in Pai. It offers narrow hiking trails with sweeping valley views and is often ambitiously referred to as The Grand Canyon of Thailand. Some notable attractions nearby include the Chinese Village (Santichon), Wat Klang, Chedi Phra That Mae Yen, The Land Split, and WWII Memorial Bridge.
We loved it! If you like climbing hard surfaces and thrilling activities, you’re gonna love it too! Entrance is 10 baht per person for maintenance purposes. You have to walk up the stairs for 3-5 mins till you reach the top, and from then onwards several trails go into different directions and you can choose to go onto any of them. The views were insane and the air was refreshing. Our clothes got soiled trying to pass some of the openings, so keep that in mind. It was sometimes windy but also very hot, so I would recommend wearing sunscreen/cap/hat and carrying a water bottle. If you want to hike up the challenging trails, hiking shoes are a must! I really enjoyed the two hours we spent here. Gazing at the chasm below, the greenery around, the mountains at a distance, the valleys with a house here and there, and soaking up the vastness of the place was a healing experience. Pictures don’t do justice to the views we got. However, some parts of the trail was highly risky and there’s no safety gear for assistance. There’s also no one around to ask for help so I’m unsure about what would happen if an accident were to take place.
Tahmina B — Google review
Entry is free but maintenance is 10 baht. Once you enter the place, you have three routes to take. The one on the left is your path if you are adventurous. Also, people usually spend 20 minutes here, mostly near the gazebo. But if you cover all three routes it takes a minimum of 1 hour. And the place is very scenic dotted with views and trees everywhere. Go in the morning and relax there till afternoon. Highly recommended.
Madhava P — Google review
Super cool spot, you can easily get there bye going to pai walking street and paying 100 baht at pretty much any taxi stand and they will take you and pick you up. It was beautiful at sunset; super easy to get to, there is a lot to “hike “ if you want to, but if you don’t want to it’s about a 4 minutes uphill walk and then you’re there. I recommend hiking to the other side and going through the little crevices that are naturally formed. Super good thing to do while in pai.
Cooper G — Google review
What a great experience, it’s free even to park your bike/scooter. There are easily lots of ways to enjoy the canyon regardless of the experience you’re looking for, but it will depend on your fitness and strength, fear of heights etc. If this was back in the UK it would be fenced off 🤣. People say to go at sunrise or sunset but we went in the middle of the day, and yes it was very hot, but not very busy. In this type of situation we would always choose the extreme heat over the crowds. Good foot ware is advisable and avoid if it’s been raining. Highly recommend.
Martin — Google review
Short walk up from the parking area until you reach the canyon. It’s very picturesque and unique to see so would highly recommend, entry was 1 baht and toilets are 5 baht. Would recommend wearing sturdy shoes as it can be quite slippy on some of the sandy bits.
Katie C — Google review
The place is beautiful and perfect for watching the sunset. Arrive about 15–20 minutes early — there’s a short and easy climb to the top of the hill. The only downside is the safety along the walking path. Some parts are not well protected, and a small slip could end very badly. I really hope the local authorities will improve it soon. At the parking area, you can find small food stalls with tasty local snacks at very reasonable prices.
Rave G — Google review
Well, it has a great view all around and that's basically it. I wouldn't call it a canyon it's a sandy hill. For anyone coming to see sunsets let me tell you - there are no sunsets in Pai.
Yuval R — Google review
Get there early and find your seat to watch the sunset :) The sunset at two huts was a better view for me, but this was also stunning as you get to see the canyon. Wear slippery proof shoes and the rocks are easy to slip on. Cross the narrow lanes if you dare.

Hot Springs & Geysers
Tha Pai Hot Spring is a popular destination located about 8 kilometers south of Pai town center and not far from Pai Canyon. The hot spring offers various pools with different temperatures, including a pool with warm water and another where the water is boiling hot. Visitors can enjoy the stunning view of the sun's rays shining through the steam in the early mornings. There are also shower and changing rooms available on-site.
An amazing place to chill, Water are super hot and separated to 4 different pools, with decreasing temperatures. The pools are much hotter then stated on the signs next to it, so try entering slowly and gradually. Overall great place and highly recommended for a visit. You can even hike a little to see the spring itself.
Niv G — Google review
Beautiful maintained hot springs. First you can walk upwards to the actual hot springs which are around 80 degrees and smell like bad eggs 🤭 Afterwards you can bath in very nicely arranged pools with different water temperatures ranging from 36 degrees to 32 degrees. There's a 300 baht fee for foreigners but I think it's adequate since they really took care of the place. I also would prefer this over the other hot springs (Siam Ngam) since there are more pools here. 🙏
Krbs — Google review
It’s actually very beautiful. Usual National Park Entrance Fee and a short walk, easy drive to get there. The water has clearly been channeled into the different levels (hottest at the top) and into the concrete pools. However, walking past these and up to the top to see the source of the water at the hot spring is well worth it, beautiful and steamy.
R2thebizel — Google review
Very nice water springs, has a range of water temperatures so you can work your way up to the hotter temperatures. We went in October and it was extremely quiet as it was low season so it was really enjoyable.
Rose H — Google review
Really cool place to visit - the springs are separated into different baths / different temperatures. The walk up is really nice. If you go up to the top you can find people cooking eggs in the hottest spring!! Definitely worth a visit!
Mollie F — Google review
Not the cheapest excursion in comparison to other activities nearby, buy really beautiful and relaxing. We arrived about 1600 when it was much quieter.
Kimjo L — Google review
Such a joy to be in the hot water. We brought food and. Eggs .we boiled the eggs in the hot water . Amazing
Lily — Google review
Very beautiful paid hot springs. 300 baht for foreigners. I don’t really agree with paying to use nature, but the site is well maintained and there are showers and changing rooms on site, just be careful of snakes. Four cascading pools at varying temperatures between 28-38C degrees. The source at the top is 80C.

When traveling to the tea village, take a break at the Kho Ku So Bamboo Bridge. This long bamboo bridge and pathway connects Kung Mai Sak village with a nearby monastery and temple, allowing monks to cross the river Sa Nga and flooded rice paddies during the rainy season. The vibrant green landscape during and after the wet season makes for a beautiful walk.
Beautiful place to spend a morning or afternoon. We went early which meant it was not too busy. Great bridge to walk along - think there is a temple at the end but we didn’t reach that. 30 baht pp to enter with free public toilets and a few cafe options too. Good parking area for bikes too.
Katie C — Google review
We drove up here on a weekday with a rental car. I saw some people saying it was an easy drive, in my opinion it is not. But the bigger question is if it is worth the drive....it totally is. Very peaceful environment and a lot longer than I expected. If you are up for an adventure this is a good start
Maarten D — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful spot near Pai! The view here is absolutely stunning. The bamboo bridge stretches for about one kilometer across the rice fields, offering many great photo opportunities along the way. At the end of the walk, you’ll find a lovely temple, and there are a few shaded spots where you can stop to relax. I recommend visiting in the morning or late afternoon, as it can get quite hot during the day. There’s also a small shop at the entrance where you can buy cold drinks. The entrance fee is 30 THB for adults, and children enter for free.
Rave G — Google review
We visited during the last week of July and due to rain, we didn’t enter and explore the entire area. I saw others wearing raincoats and exploring inside. There’s a 30 baht entry fee to enter the paddy fields and walk around the bridge and take pictures at different spots. If I had an umbrella with me, I would have taken the walk around the bridge. We sat at Jaey Cafe and played with the cats and enjoyed the mountain views. There were SO many cats! Loved how chill they were!
Tahmina B — Google review
Such a lovely way to spend a few hours in Pai. The walk itself takes about 30 minutes and takes you past beautiful landscapes, swings, and photo opportunities. You can also do archery and shooting and win a small prize which was great entertainment during the walk. Would recommend to anyone in Pai.
Kyah G — Google review
Such a scenic spot, nice to walk along the bamboo raised pathways over the paddy fields, plenty of photo opportunities, there’s even a spot to feed the fish! We had a really nice time here and only cost 30baht per person to enter :)
Leo G — Google review
🌉 Best time to visit the bridge is in the morning or late afternoon, it can get really hot during midday! ☀️ Don’t forget to bring a hat 🧢 or umbrella ☂️ to protect yourself from the sun. The bridge is long and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing walk. You can easily spend 1–2 hours just enjoying the view and the atmosphere. ☕ After visiting the bridge, there are some nice coffee shops around where you can take a break. The staff are usually very friendly and welcoming 😊. There’s also a beautiful Buddha statue 🧘‍♂️ nearby that’s worth seeing, a quiet spot for reflection or photos. ⚠️ Just a little note: the road to the bridge is quite difficult, with steep or narrow sections. So please be extra careful if you’re driving 🚗, especially if you’re not familiar with mountain or countryside roads. Take your time and enjoy the journey!
Halimatu S — Google review
Much, much better than I expected. Really good value for money as it’s quite a large area. Some wonderful photo opportunities and good restaurants. Highly recommended!

Night market
Pai Walking Street, situated along Chaisongkran Road and the northern end of Rungsiyanon Road in Pai, Thailand, is a vibrant night market that comes alive after sunset. The street is adorned with colorful hanging lanterns and offers a wide variety of products such as clothing, accessories, postcards, jewelry, handicrafts, and original works of art by local artists.
Walking street is a peaceful ghost town during the day but at night it comes alive. The night market is open every night. In the off season I found it busier during the week than weekends. The vendors are friendly and chill —you might even find some drunken by the end of the night and give you a free meal (happened to me) Don’t forget to walk until the bamboo bridge and cross the river during sunset. It’s lovely. You can find good clothing deals and vegan, gluten free street foods too! My favorite stalls are the grilled pork lady, shampoo nachos, queens gyoza, Fah homemade chicken wrap, and fresh spring rolls! Yum. Oh! And the fried spicy squid stall on the corner (she also makes an excellent coconut smoothie !)
Brittany B — Google review
Great food, great vibes 💯 This night market, like all other night markets in Thailand offers an array of shops and stalls selling clothes, jewellery, food, drinks, and snacks. The snacks looked good and I wished I could try all of them. I’d suggest everyone to walk around the entire place and try as many street food as you can. There are several halal options. We had gyoza/dumplings from a halal stall and it was so delicious! I had to urgently buy some clothes and the shop I was in was about to close but they didn’t rush me and helped me every way they could. It was really touching. I think most clothing stores close by 10 pm. The place got quieter around 11:30 pm except for the loud parties going on in the bars.
Tahmina B — Google review
Pai Walking Street is truly one of the best experiences in Pai and should not be missed if you are visiting this small mountain town. Every evening the street comes alive with a vibrant atmosphere full of lights, music, and delicious smells from all directions. You can find everything here: from small bars with chilled vibes, restaurants serving both Thai and international dishes, to countless street food stalls offering tasty snacks and meals at very affordable prices. The variety of food is impressive. You can enjoy authentic Thai dishes, fresh smoothies, vegetarian and vegan options, and even Western treats if you are craving something different. Street musicians and performers create a lively soundtrack as you walk, adding to the charm of the night. The relaxed climate in Pai makes it comfortable to stroll for hours without feeling rushed. What I love most is the mix of people and energy. Locals, backpackers, and travelers from all over the world gather here, giving the street a friendly and international vibe while still keeping that small-town charm. Prices are reasonable, so you can eat, drink, shop for souvenirs, and enjoy live entertainment without spending too much. Overall, Pai Walking Street perfectly captures the laid-back yet lively spirit of Pai
Isuru J — Google review
A really nice walking street compared to the more chaotic ones, street vendors friendly and not too in your face and really good food! Strongly recommend the chips from the shawarma stand on the less busy end of the street, homemade sauce is to die for!!
Aaron B — Google review
Its the place to go if your new to Pai, especially if your young. We are older but still liked the vibe on the main street had and down some of the side streets. There is a distinct herby smell in the air and it's definitely not earl grey tea !!! 🤣🌿🌿 after all few drinks my wife and I had some intense games of connect 4, whilst listening to some Pink Floyd....walking cliché I know but it's all good in the hood.....🤘
Martin — Google review
Great little street to grab a meal and a drink, along with some great little market stalls and shops.
Liz A — Google review
There are many tasty foods, local show and souvenir. The cost isn't expensive. Something is cheaper than in the town. This street is always open every night. It's the best thing that I love. I'm Thai. I really love this walking street because it's easy to plan to come and it still contains convenient stores for normal life.

Yun Lai Viewpoint is a hilltop village complex near the Myanmar border in Pai, offering panoramic valley views and tea service. The area is known for its cultural diversity, with the Chinese Yunnan Cultural Village reflecting Yunnan influence and history of Chinese settlers fleeing the Mao Tse Tung revolution. Santichon village was built to address drug problems and has become an exotic tourist spot.
Visit date: 8-Jul-2025 Definitely the best sunrise spot in Pai overlooking the whole town area. 20 baht per entry. There was only 5 people when I visited on a Tuesday morning. It was a gloomy morning thus no sunrise but the sea of fog was amazing still! There's also a 'wishing tree for couples' and a fish pond (feel free to feed the fish, 10 baht for the fish feed).
Aurélien T — Google review
Nice viewpoint! It is on the top of a hill with a view overlooking the valley and town. There are some nice places to take photographs and you can buy some food and drink from the uncle taking care of the place. I went there in the evening and it was peaceful and quiet. Even saw a small snake swimming in the water. You need to pay to enter.
Collins — Google review
The viewpoint is a beautiful spot, even though we didn’t get to see the sunrise because of the clouds. The entrance fee is 20 THB per person. Inside, you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea in a lovely, peaceful atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop!
Rave G — Google review
good view on the mountains surrounding yourself. the path to go with a scooter can be a bit challenging for beginners, the end is quite steep. tee is good. the entrance fee was 20 THB in July 2025. it's also romantic, you can write your names and put on the tree. Google about this Chinese village to know the history, or gemini. it's quite interesting.
Samuel P — Google review
Beautiful viewpoint, 20 baht per person but so worth it. Has a little shop, cafe and free toilets. Gives such a nice view of Pai so is worth the drive up.
Katie C — Google review
Just a very beautiful viewpoint. Not a lot to do and the restaurant is expensive. There are so many viewpoints in the area, not sure I can recommende about this one. Next to the viewpoint there's a flowers garden, with small entrance fee but we didn't have time to go.
Shy G — Google review
There was an entrance fee for this viewpoint but I cant remember how much (under 100 baht per person) but definitely worth it. Great spot to see the whole area from above. There's also a very detailed garden behind the viewpoint that is an additional cost to enter but you can snap some pics of it from the parking lot and it's super beautiful. Must be confident on a scooter to get to the viewpoint, it's super uneven and very steep roads.
Michael M — Google review
Good view point , but don’t visit at afternoons bcz the heat is too much. You can feed the fishes and hangout a bit there and enjoy the time. Approx 30 mins you can spend there. 20 baht entrance free was needed.

Karsa Long Thai Food is a charming little eatery that may not boast extravagant decor, but it certainly shines when it comes to flavor and value. Nestled in Pai, this restaurant offers an extensive menu filled with mouthwatering dishes at wallet-friendly prices. Whether you're craving a hearty massaman curry or fresh vegetarian options, Karsa Long has you covered.
Delicious, quality, big plate food. The owner came from Vietnam. You can meet many long term travelers

Great little restaurant with very reasonable prices. Had a chicken panaeng curry which was delicious. The khao soi that my husband ordered was a bit bland, but overall had a nice dinner. The Avocado salad is amazing! One of the best salads I’ve had in a really long time
Marisa F — Google review
I didn't like this place. I ordered Tom yum and it was liquid poor soup with lots of carrot. Probably the worst Tom yum I have ever tried in Thailand. Maybe other dishes are good, I saw they have lots of western options, but Tom yum I definitely a big big no (see the picture attached)

We ate here twice in Pai. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Everything is very fresh, reminds me of farm to table, was some of the best green curry and rice(with wild rice) I've had in all of Thailand. Food portions are HUGE, not that expensive, definitely get your $$ worth. The next time we are in Pai we will be eating here again and again.

Vegan restaurant
Restaurant
Ci Xin Jai is a budget-friendly Thai/Chinese fusion buffet restaurant in Paithat that offers a variety of colorful vegetable dishes, stir-fried noodles, spring rolls, fried mushrooms, and soups. The pricing is based on the number of dishes you choose. It's a vegan restaurant with healthy vegetarian options and mock meat dishes. The buffet allows you to select four different dishes for an affordable price.
A hidden gem. Excellent food with a lot of variety, very cheap (about 50 baht for a meal), healthy, very friendly workers and great vibe. What else do you need? By the way the fried vegan “chicken” and vegan “pork” balls are really amazing!! And I am eating meat!
Gil Y — Google review
Best Vegan food in town. You can chose from around 10 different dishes and add some fried stuff as well. Everything is so delicious and knowing that there is no meat or MSG in the food is such a blessing. It's also super cheap, 45 baht for 3 different curry's with a huge portion of rice. Also try the noodle soup for 30 baht!
Krbs — Google review
Fantastic value for this price! I took rice with 3 different curries for 50 baht - very flavorful and tasty. Although some of the curries was super spicy, so I was a bit in pain. So I would recommend asking before ordering. The pineapple+sweet basil drink was also amazing! Overall place is spacious, ambient, with friendly service and offers great vegan food for a great price! Thank you!
Vita B — Google review
Food was super tasty and super fresh! Got the chicken/tofu soup which was super hot and very filling! For 59 baht. I was a mess trying to use the large spoons + chopsticks so the owner noticed and brought me over a traditional fork and spoon 🤭 Might go back to try the dumplings! P.S. I found a lot of vegan places close early and managed to get here before they close at 8pm
Atara Z — Google review
My favourite restaurant in Pai (maybe Thailand). Cheap and tasty vegan food with numerous options and variety. Has a buffet option, but also an extensive regular menu (pick a blue folder on the counter). The owner is lovely (if a little brisk) but he’s very friendly and runs the restaurant with incredible efficiency.
K S — Google review
Must try if you like vegan food and you are in Pai. The menu alone…it’s like being a kid in a candy shop. For real, and the food was insane. Definately recommend the pad Thai!! Also the spaghetti was awesome. Thank you! 💜

🌟🌟🌟🌟 Authentic Local Thai Eatery – Tasty, Affordable, and No-Frills 🍛 Flavorful Local Dishes Classic Thai favorites like pad kra pao, tom yum, green curry, and som tum packed with bold, authentic flavors. Cooked fresh and served hot — exactly how local Thai food should be. 💰 Affordable Prices Great value for money. Generous portions and wallet-friendly pricing make it perfect for daily meals or casual drop-ins. 🧑‍🍳 Home-Style Cooking No over-styled plating or gimmicks — just honest, home-cooked food from a local kitchen. The kind of place where the flavors speak louder than the decor. 🪑 Simple, Casual Setting Basic tables and fans, often street-side or open-air. Not fancy, but clean and comfortable enough to enjoy your meal. Expect plastic chairs, metal tables, and a few locals chatting nearby. 🤝 Friendly Local Vibe Staff are kind, even if English is limited. Pointing to dishes or photos on the menu works just fine. Warm smiles and quick service make you feel welcome. ⚠️ Minor Drawbacks Limited English signage or menus. Expect to sweat a little if you’re sitting outside during the day. Sometimes they run out of popular dishes later in the evening. If you're looking for real Thai food the way locals eat it — flavorful, fast, and full of soul — this kind of place delivers every time.

Fine dining experience in Pai. Fantastic food and superb service. Set in a wonderfully relaxing restaurant. Excellent vegetarian and vegan options and clearly labelled as such.

Lovely place with very good food and very reasonable prices - especially considering the beauty of the place. The interior has some colonial style vibes with comfy seats. The restaurant is indoor but has an outdoor atmosphere since it's fully open to the garden on one side. They take pride in their wines and have sommeliers at hand to help you choosing. Pork ribs were delicious and the cocktails were also really good. Definitely recommend!

We were looking for a nice spot for a romantic dinner and found this place — what a success! The atmosphere is wonderful, and the food was absolutely delicious. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but it’s definitely worth it — great value for money. Highly recommended!

Looking for a cozy escape? This spot offers just that, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. You won't have to wait long to enjoy their tasty food, thanks to the good, fast service. The attentive staff go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience, making this a winning combination for a satisfying outing.

The best fine dining & most decent restaurant in Pai. It’s very secluded with formal seating. Interior is ancient while seats are very comfy. It’s a half indoor restaurant that offers the fresh air and ambience of outdoor style. Service is highly professional & staff speak fluent English. Not much variety of foods to choose though. Taste is good as well. All in all, a good value of money for the service, place & serenity you get. We stayed at the Reverie Siam so had access to the restaurant but was told they’re also open for walk-ins. The best part is when you stay here, they could literally serve the food for you at the river area. Breakfast here is fantastic. It’s all worth it!

Great theming in this restaurant. Bakery items pretty good. The healthier breakfast options were good, although the European cooked breakfasts are a little on the bland side.
Brad C — Google review
First of all, the restaurant is super beautiful and has a nice charme. The Staff is friendly and really attentive. The food on the other hand was disappointing. As appetizer we had pork rib and jin lung, both dishes felt not really fresh-made. Main dish we had pan-seared duck breast and mushroom a’olio pasta. Duck was dry, it felt like they took it out of the freezer and cooked it directly. The pasta was actually pretty good, perfect al dente and very tasty.

Day 2

Keep it simple
For day 2, these 5 places should be enough to fill your day with something exciting to do in Mae Hong Son. Start the day with Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan and make your way through the city to get to Fish Cave - Namtok Pha Suea National Park. This should take about 13 hours of your day.

Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan is a stunning Buddhist temple complex that captivates visitors with its ornate golden shrines and vibrant statues. Nestled near the charming village of Ban Thawai, known for its rich tradition in woodcarving, this area showcases exquisite craftsmanship influenced by various indigenous styles including Lanna and Tibetan. The temple is part of the revered Relics of the Four Peaks, which hold significant cultural importance to both locals and travelers alike.
An excellent monastery for learning and practicing Vipassana in the tradtion of ven Mahasi Sayadaw. Indiviudal instructions and daily interviews are given by monks residing at the monastery. Truly a precious place for practice. The daily routine is quite tough with restricted sleep and long hours of practice. I suggest considering your current mental condition. Having ongoing psychiatric issues and doing a retreat here might be a lot. But the discipline helps deepen the meditation. For those interested in Theravada meditative traditions or in general want a place to get authentic instructions and guidence I recommend coming.
Tobias — Google review
I’ve stayed at this temple on two occasions for 10-day Vipassana meditations, and both experiences were truly transformative. The first time I came, I wasn’t sure what to expect — it was recommended by a friend — but I ended up extending my stay because it was so peaceful and meaningful. I returned six months later for another retreat, and it was just as powerful. The temple is beautiful and very well maintained, with a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for meditation. Speaking to others, it’s clear this place is especially well suited for Westerners, offering a higher standard of comfort without losing its authenticity. I stayed in a private, air-conditioned room that was very comfortable, and the vegetarian food was absolutely delicious — fresh, healthy, and cooked with care. All in all, it’s a truly special place that stays with you long after you leave. If you’re considering a 10-day Vipassana retreat, I couldn’t recommend this temple more.

I had the privilege of staying at Wat Chom Tong for several months this year, practicing Vipassana meditation under the guidance of truly inspirational monk teachers. The teachings were deep and transformative, as the practice brings calm and insight, with benefits that carry over into everyday life. The temple really cares for international students, providing a comfortable and welcoming environment, and even accompanied me to take refuge, guiding me through this important step. I am beyond grateful for the teachers, staff, and community, and I wholeheartedly recommend this temple to anyone interested in mindfulness practice. Practicing Vipassana is the greatest gift you can give yourself.

I did my first meditation retreat in Wat Rom Poeng Chiang Mai many years ago and in 2022 for my second retreat in Thailand I came to Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan without realising that both monasteries are actually related - the root, founding and the same teaching methods by Phra Ajaan Tong and his disciples. I felt very blessed as a lay person to benefits from the original Vispassana teaching from the Lord Buddha that has been preserved, practised and offered by these monasteries and the Shanga community. I would recommend you to come over to Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan, and be able to meet Phra Ajaan Art, the English speaking meditator for foreign students.
James L — Google review
Stayed here for a month and feel really blessed for the opportunity to practice Vipassana and learn Dharma under the guidance of a real master, and to meet some amazing people. It was also great to take part in some events and to experience Buddhism in Thailand. The lay community that supports the temple is very inspiring. This is definitely one of the few places in the world I will keep going to whenever I need a spiritual recharge.

I recommend it with love. Mainly because of the good souls who voulenter there and the conditions that allow you to connect more strongly, to something deeper. I stayed there for 21 days and it was truly wonderful, but also challenging, especially towards the end when you are expected to meditate most of the day. However, they support you with any challenge or issue that arises, in a gentle and embracing way. So it is recommended to remove any fear you have. This place will take care of you :) . I want to give a big thank you to the wonderful Jirapa ❤️ who accompanied and cared for us throughout the period and of course also to the monk who sat with us and guided us during the period. Also, thank you to the good people at the monastery and to Thailand :) for making it possible to spread presence and raise consciousness in the world, in a way that I have not experienced anywhere else in the world yet 💛
Avi A — Google review
I attended the international Vipassana meditation retreat here and this monastery has one of the best meditation programs i’ve been to - individualized daily meditation instructions and interview, complete amenities, and a supportive environment. The technique is very helpful and has helped me apply Vipassana in my daily life. Special thanks to my monk instructor, Phra Ajahn Art for the time and commitment in teaching me Vipassana and the wonderful life lessons, and to Phra Chotirat and Jirapa for being very welcoming and making sure that I had a great retreat experience. I would definitely recommend this to new or experienced meditators.

Doi Inthanon National Park is a popular destination in Thailand, offering scenic trails, pagodas near the summit, and beautiful waterfalls. It is known for its natural beauty and is home to the highest point in Thailand. The park features Buddhist temples, hot springs, and various sights and activities. Visitors can enjoy the chilly mountain air at the highest point in Chiang Mai while taking in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Beautiful waterfalls, pagodas, karen Village and highest point in Thailand. We took a tour from Chiang Mai which was nice so the guide could explain everything. Bring a raincoat and good walking shoes as some of the falls spray and it can rain at the top! Definitely worth it!
Jane F — Google review
Doi Inthanon National Park is a must-visit! We had an incredible day here — the weather shifted from clear skies to clouds, and both views were absolutely spectacular in their own way. The twin temples at the summit were stunning, and there’s even a little coffee shop with a top floor that offered beautiful views. This was the only time in Thailand that I actually felt chilly, and it was such a refreshing break to enjoy the cool air for a few hours. We also stopped at a small village where we learned how scarves and clothes are made and had a delicious dinner. Having a guide made the experience even better — we learned so much about the local people, culture, and history. Highly recommend visiting with a guide if you can!
Jennifer F — Google review
Doi Inthanon National Park is exceptionally well maintained. The paths, gardens, and viewing areas are clean, clearly marked, and well cared for. You can tell there’s consistent upkeep—no trash, no overgrown trails, and facilities are in good condition. The atmosphere is serene. As you climb higher, the air cools and everything slows down. The park often sits above the cloud line, so you’re surrounded by mist and drifting clouds that give it an almost otherworldly calm. It’s quiet, peaceful, and feels far removed from city noise. The combination of clean, orderly grounds and the natural beauty of the mountains makes it an ideal place to slow down, walk, and take in the scenery. It’s one of those rare spots where human care and nature work in harmony.

Great and large national park. We came for birdwatching. Perhaps October not the best month but we did manage to see a lot of new birds since we are not from Thailand. The summit was sunny for a short while before 10 am. Better to come before all the tour busses arrive from Chiang Mai as of 10.30 am. The walking path past the summit was closed until October 30. We did manage to spot birds at that parking spot. It's just passed the official parking for the temples. Tickets for the park are 300 baht and a car costs 30 baht. Valid for 5 days.

I rented a bike the day before (250 baht) n I set off from town 5 plus in morning . Is end Oct 2025.. a little chilly on the way. Easy to navigate using Google map. Can drink n eat along the way .. many petrol kiosks. small eateries etc Entrance is 300 baht n 20 for the motorbike . Was 11 degrees celcius when I was at the peak. (About 7am) … chilly but good to soak up the sun . Went for one of the nature trail at the peak which a memorial site for soldier ((?)) was erected . I swept the area clean with the broom … to make the devas, spirits n animals happy . Went to one of the waterfall .. Just ok Cannot dip Just see As I rode down the Doi .. , I went to the ticket office originally to use the toilet but I heard water … there’s a river flowing .. water probably from the waterfalls up there … Waterfalls or rivers or rain or whatever … aren’t they all the same ? we people attached a name to form(rupa) Anyway I changed into a short n enjoyed the cold water under the hot sun . Passed by a beautiful temple n turned in to pay respect to Buddha There’s a jade Buddha statue in main hall. 2 price system for locals n foreigners .!!! is it worth 300 baht ? Is a very well managed park Perhaps too well managed with steps etc (Isn’t it supposed to be back to nature ?) I did enjoy my time here Perhaps the authority can really look into dual pricing system n the (probably hefty)300 baht ??

The drive up is half the fun. You go from warm jungle to misty pine forest in under an hour. It kind of feels like traveling through biomes in a video game — jungle, waterfall, forest, temple, another waterfall, cloud kingdom. At the top there’s a sign that says “Highest Point in Thailand” and everyone’s taking the same photo like they just reached the summit of Olympus. It’s cute. But that’s not why you’re here. It's about the Queen and King Pagodas baby. Very pointy and gorgeous. Add in the gardens and crawling fog, and its a metaphorically and literal cool experience.

Nestled in the Khun Yuam district, Thung Bua Tong Fields at Doi Mae U Kho is a breathtaking sight to behold. This expansive area is adorned with vibrant yellow Mexican sunflowers that reach their peak bloom during Thailand's wintertime from November to February. The fields can be admired from a hilltop pavilion, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Despite the challenging ascent, visitors are rewarded with a spectacular and magnificent display of flowers.
During the sunflower bloom, November into December, the fields are awash with flowers. It can be very crowded during this time, particularly on weekends. There is no entry fee and just driving through is amazing. Parking a car can be difficult. During the off-season the hills are still a nice scene but not the same.
Greg R — Google review
It's a seasonal pla e for the flowers. I went to early. The views are great with the clouds wrapping around the peaks. Nice place
Philip R — Google review
We dropped in whilst riding the Mae Hong Son Loop right at the end of the rainy season in the last week of October. There were some open flowers but the main bloom was still two weeks or more away. On the plus side, there were very few tourists around and the atmosphere is quite serene.
Chris G — Google review
A must go! Super big and free to explore.. i went around 2 pm and the sky was a bit dark. Sadly i didn’t have time to wait until sunset but i bet it will even more beautiful Do check the weather.. i think the best time would be on November when all the flowers bloom
Bonia — Google review
Really beautiful spot. Great place to watch the sunset. Some food options though I didn't try any. The flowers are very beautiful and the view is spectacular. The roads leading up to it are nice but not that notable so on the drive up we worried we'd come all that way for a disappointing tourist trap, but honestly once we reached the fields we found it truly breathtaking. My photos and video should say the rest.
Armand D — Google review
I came end October and many flowers were still not open. I imagine if you come here mid November it will be awesome. When you are on highway 108 or on 1263 then you ahould definitely drive up here it is only about 10 km from the intersection with 1263.
Toby M — Google review
Free to visit and the roads going up here are well paved. We were in Thailand in kid-February and the flowers are in their off season. I believe they bloom in November to December. It would have been very beautiful if we visited when the fields are filled with yellow mini sunflowers. Nonetheless, the viewdeck offers a wonderful view of the mountains.

Beautiful spot, very busy. Windy road with lots of hills, make sure to have car that can handle the grades as the one we rented was questionable at best. The flowers are amazing, very beautiful. would recommend. We visited November 21, 2023

Wat Phra That Mae Yen is a temple located in the town of Pai, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding valley. The temple features a monumental staircase leading to a large white Buddha statue at the top, providing visitors with panoramic views over Pai.
It’s a beautiful place came right as they opened up in the morning and we spoke with a monk who’s super nice and friendly and helped us with our Thai and how to greet a monk properly, very peaceful place beautiful views and very clean, it was under construction when we went but it didn’t take away from the beauty of it I would definitely recommend also there’s some cute dogs usually hanging around at the top and bottom. ( remember to respect the rules and cover up!)
Sam H — Google review
It was nice to see but the Buddha was ‘under construction’ (bamboo scaffolding). You have a nice view from there but I guess there are similar if not better views in the area. Go early morning to avoid the heat. Although the stairs are manageable. We spent about 20 minutes there so it’s good to combine with other activities.
Carlijn K — Google review
The view is next level for Pai. You can see everything with a very short drive and walk. The Buddha itself is under reconstruction with restoration work part way, which was still interesting to see though the view White Buddha faces out to, is what makes this spot so special. No entry fee required. A local advised walking but I took a scooter, and after seeing the drive in I wouldn't recommend to walk this. The entrance is a large gate on the road, leading further up a driveway to the beginning of the stairs, the road continues to the right for cars and scooters.
Azzurro B — Google review
The Buddha is under construction and repairs. It's not white at the moment and some pieces are broken. Not sure how long it's going to take, so be aware... Been said that, the viewpoint is just breathtaking! And another reason to go, is that good feeling you climed 300 stairs and survived 😃😃
Shy G — Google review
I went here to meet the sunrises, unfortunately, the entrance close at 06:00 pm — so keep this in mind before visiting, there is a gorgeous view of the valley And very nice temple And not too much tourists — especially early morning (but maybe because it’s low season) In September- October 2025 the Buddha statue is being reconstructed here

Climb up to budha was closed for renovation but stairs showed amazing valley views lots of small temples with various budhas well worth the trip for views up the the steps

Shop has no name yet since they only started recently. It's a nice & cosy place to sit back, wind down & enjoy coffee or authentic Thai food. The owners are really friendly & sweet people you'll meet. Highly recommended.

Took a drive to here for the sunset, but it closes before the sun sets. It's an impressive image with great views of Pai and would be an amazing place to have the sun disappear behind the mountains. You can drive to the base skipping a long walk up stairs but there are still many steps to walk to the actual top.

Tham Pla - Namtok Pha Suea National Park is a 511-sq.-km. park known for its lush forests, stunning waterfalls, and unique fish cave featuring a Rishi statue. The park's main attractions include the Tham Pla (Fish Cave) and the picturesque Pha Suea waterfall. The area boasts fertile forests that are the source of numerous streams and several famous waterfalls, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts.
Nice place to walk around. First time we were seeing fish going for leaves and walloping it down in a few seconds.

This was a very beautiful spot to stop to break up the drive. The price wasn't too expensive and they even have a local price for Thai people to visit.. The foreigner price is more expensive 🤪... The fish were beautiful to look at and feed. We sat down at the one of the shops for chicken.. It was nice that the shop owners were calm. The only thing is the chicken was stale and not very hot so I think the food could be improved a little for the price.. Otherwise definetly worth stopping still 😊🙏

The Fish Cave Park is a very friendly and beautiful place to visit. I was expecting the cave itself to be larger and more impressive, so it was a bit of a disappointment. Nevertheless, the park is peaceful and relaxing — a nice stop for a short break during your trip. The entrance fee is 100 THB for adults and 50 THB for children. At the entrance, you can also buy fish food (50 THB for three baskets). It’s fun for kids to feed the fish and enjoy the calm atmosphere.

Not realy a cave but its a combo ticket with the waterfall i did earlyer that day. Go to the back of the beautifull jungle park, buy some food and feed the fish, go all the way to the back, there you can see the fish swimming in the cave below you. Great fun, think it would be a great thing to do with kids.
Bram U — Google review
Pay attention! I give 5 stars because you pay once for 3 place: fish cave, waterfall and park with rafting during a day. We didn't visit the last one and cashier couldn't explain included rafting in a ticket or not, so i don't know. But cave and waterfall are amazing! After waterfall in 5 km are small farm, you can visit it free
Maria A — Google review
I would not call it a cave more like two holes where the fishes eat your food your bring them. You can buy the food at the cave for 10 thb just put a 10 thb in the cup or you can buy at many places around the park or outside. Do not care about what people say the fish not it eat salad or the fish not eat fish food. Some fish are picky but there is plenty of fish and they eat mostly anything you give them. Its a 20 min walk before you reach the "cave" and you can feed fishes along the way as well. Thai 20 thb and Non Thai 200 THB however you can visit the waterfall with the same name and you can visit the park along the same route 4001 it is the same park. So if you planning to visit 3 places in one day it is worth the price. For fish cave alone i would not pay 200 THB. The staff is very friendly and can tell you where you can use the ticket more. If you want you can camp here as well but i see nobody did that but you can we asked.

Cafecito is a renowned coffee institution in Pai, offering a cozy atmosphere and a daily bakery selection alongside Mexican specials. While their coffee may not be the best in town, their Mexican classics like quesadillas, tacos, tostadas, and tortas are highly praised. The homemade chorizo, pulled chicken, avocado or mushroom carnitas options with various toppings such as black beans and pickled jalapenos are particularly popular.
I absolutely love the burritos here! The coffee is amazing, and the hot sauce selection is fantastic. The tortillas are incredible, and the location is right across the street from the park, which is really convenient. There are also plenty of nice places to sit, especially for larger groups.

We had an amazing dining experience and got our Mexican fix.😁 We were seated straight away, the staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered mushroom tostada which was my favorite, fish tacos which were super tasty, chicken tostada which must have been real good too but the hubs wouldn't let me have any, The hubs ordered another entree pictured with the egg on it and I can't remember what it is called but we are all of that too. We definitely recommend you try this cafe. The ingredients are fresh and everything is made to order. The prices are attractive as well.

As a Mexican, I have to say that this food is absolutely delicious and authentic! I have been missing Mexican food a lot since I have started travelling. The Mexican torta, tacos, and mole were all increíble. Can’t wait to come back to Pai to eat more 😍

Best and amazing eats in Pai. Super tasty mexican foods. Not a wide variety of options but what they have are surely a hit. The quesadilla are to die for and the breakfast set is smt I wanna have every morning. Ambiance is good and staff are super friendly. Good service and reasonable price. They also have some healthy food options if you want. I highly recommend the VEGAN MUSHROOMS & quesadilla is so good too. I almost eat here everyday. The area also features a campground near the reservoir where visitors can rent tents for a night in nature.

Paid 100baht/adult at pha suea waterfall thinking it was cheap to access 2/3 places of interest within the same park. But this was free! No need for an entrance fee to enjoy this part of the park. Bamboo boat ride was 150baht. Fish food was sold but the fishes weren't eating. The road leading to Pang Ung is narrow and certain sections have no safety barriers. Be safe.

Ban Rak Thai, also known as Mae Aw, is a picturesque Yunnanese village located near the Myanmar border. The village was established by former nationalists from Yunnan and is characterized by its Chinese-style buildings, cafes, and homestays. It serves as a checkpoint for trading jade and offers visitors the opportunity to explore tea plantations with vast fields of tea plants and traditional houses. The area also features ornate tea houses, noodle restaurants, and opportunities for homestays.
Wonderful small lake town simulating a China scenery background, consisting of mostly immigrants from Yunnan, China. People here can still speak some Mandarin. Of course, they can speak Thai. Food here have Halal food, Thai and Yunnan cuisines. Looks of places to take pictures. A lot of locals and Malaysians frequent here. Can stay for a day or 2.

Nice place to visit. Low season and no people which is good for me, quiet and not crowded, not even single foreigners in here 😎 Remember this village doesn't have 7-Eleven so if you need something from 7, buy before you arrive here. Very remote and hours from the towns. Scenery is awesome and I bet you will love this place.

What a scenic location this is! The entire hamlet overlooking the lake is just like a sketch art. Prices are a bit expensive in this town. But it is definitely a place to stay and rest in the loop. Don't plan for ride through. Plan for an overnight stay. Also, the wines in this village, which is brewed in Chiang rai, is affordable.

Ban Rak Thai feels both peaceful and familiar. These days the village is quiet, with fresh air and a calm atmosphere. In the early morning, mist covers the lake, and the scenery reminds me of the mountain regions in Northern Vietnam – simple, authentic, and poetic. The tea hills are lush, and sipping a hot cup of Oolong makes life slow down beautifully. Locals are kind, and the Yunnanese food is delicious, especially the roasted duck and hand-pulled noodles. At night, golden lights reflecting on the lake create a romantic and tranquil setting. The road up is winding, but once you arrive, it’s absolutely worth it.
Quynh N — Google review
This place is extremely beautiful, and it's like a place far away from the modern life. (It doesn't make you feel like you are in Thailand, but China). It's like a retreat away from the world. If you need a break, definitely recommend to visit once. Is a quite village. As mentioned the village is small and quiet. Nothing much to look around (3D2N is more than enough). But during winter time (November to January), please bring a thick jacket with you as is very cold and the degree will be around 5-13 degrees Celsius. The restaurants food are nice. Some villagers able to speak Mandarin. However please do not buy their street food or the packaging snack as most of their snacks are imported from China and it taste bad and its expensive. Bring your own snacks. *There will NOT be any convenient shop like 7-11or Lawson in or around the village. Bring your own if you need it, or you can get it while you otw to the village. It is very difficult and far to travel to this village. As the whole Mae Hong Son is known for its 1,864 curves. If you are the type of person who gets car sick, please prepare a few plastic bag with you just in case.
Evelynn S — Google review
Really good taste of a Chinese village although in Thailand but very touristy and crowded in the high season. The food was delicious around the “reservoir” (beautiful water was man made) which is the reason this is 4 stars. You can drive up to the Myanmar border just 1 minute away too which was pretty cool! It’s also a good 40 minutes of the main highway and lots of sharp turns so if you don’t enjoy them don’t go. If you have time and like to drive this is a cool place to visit especially if you haven’t been to China before!
Reed G — Google review
The best thing about Ban Rak Thai was the ride up, windy roads, good fun. The town itself is pretty enough built on the little lake but not really sure what it is! There’s no real cafes as such, just a few restaurants and lots of people selling wine! Not sure what you would do if you stayed here buts it’s a nice little detour if you don’t have a massive number of kms to do on the loop, it’s about half way between Mae Hong Son and Pang Ma Pha.

Located on the outskirts of Mae Hong Son City in Thailand, the Zu Tong Tae Bridge is a picturesque bamboo bridge that crosses the Sa-Nga river and a vibrant rice field. Surrounded by lush greenery, this enchanting spot offers visitors a fairytale-like experience as they walk through the magical landscape. The bridge provides access to a temple and can be reached by car, making it an easily accessible and highly recommended destination for those visiting Mae Hong Son or Ban Rak Thai.
Visited today and loved the serenity of the place. Seeing the monks going about their daily routines and rituals. Listening to the monks chanting from their temple added to the peaceful atmosphere. Pay a donation if you wish

A first for me. Free admission. Park where the toilets are and only 1 minute walk.. A woven bamboo bridge across the rice fields. Then the walkway becomes a bridge over the river. Then there are several steep flights of steps upto the wat. Care needed. The 360 degree views are lovely. Views from the wat are great. A hat and lotion recommended. Your out in the middle of a rice field and the sun will get you. A few souvenir sellers and a few food sellers at the car park. When in Thailand why not try. The creaking of the bamboo walkway is great.

Really interesting cave to visit with signs of habitation going back thousands of years. We had the misfortune of coming there just at the tailend of the rainy season. That meant we could not visit cave 2 and 3 (where ancient coffins are visible). Not sure if this was because the water was too high or the bridge was swept away during a flood, the explanation was lost on me. Anyway, even just the one cave was totally worth the short detour from the Mae Hong Son loop.

Very nice spot with beautiful views! You can easily spend about 30–45 minutes walking along the bamboo bridge, visiting the temple at the end, and heading back. There’s a cozy coffee shop near the bridge where you can grab a cold drink and relax. The small souvenir shop is also lovely and offers very affordable items. Highly recommended for a peaceful and scenic visit!

It's a beautiful and tranquil temple with a bamboo bridge extending over lush green fields. It's a great place for a walk and to relax. The Buddha statues in the temple are very beautiful. I would say it's one of my favorite temples. I will definitely return.
Pim P — Google review
A beautiful site. I was here in the beginning of October and the fields were so nice and green.
Dunn T — Google review
This bridge is in every "tourist" post and blogs for Mae Hong Son and since it's on the way, we checked it out. It is very interesting because it is made of bamboo cut thinly and weaved into a mat. This bridge was built by the villagers for the monks of the Buddhist temple by the hill. Usually, the farm around the area is planted with rice and is flooded with water. We visited prior to the rainy season and the farmers had planted peanuts instead. The surrounding giew is beautiful. The bridge is long but it was a pleasant walk. We passed by a river with clear waters. Parking is free and theres no fee to get in. There's souvenir shops by the parking area if you want to buy something.

Last time I came here was almost 20 years ago. I visited again on September 2025. The place was lacked of proper maintenance. It looked worn out. But, yeah, nothing lasts forever. I loved to sit there enjoying panoramic view of this isolated town, absorbing peacefulness. It is the great place to recharge and revive your energy.

Beautiful temple with stunning views! The temple is located on top of a hill, offering a breathtaking view of the entire city. If you visit around sunset, you’ll find a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the scenery. You can also hike up from the temple in the city if you enjoy climbing — it’s a rewarding walk. Next to the main temple, there’s a small memorial site dedicated to bikers who lost their lives on the loop. It’s a peaceful and meaningful place, suitable for both adults and children. There’s also a small coffee shop near the top where you can grab a drink or something cold to refresh yourself.

Beautiful temple up in the mountains where you can see the entire city of Mae Hong Son. Be prepared to hike up some stairs to get to the temple and the Buddha statue. The temple is simple but elegant in white and gold. They hung colorful lanterns in one of the stupas when we visited. There's a gazebo on the north side where you can see planes landing and taking off from the nearby ariport. It was a really hot mid-morning when we stopped by but there is a cafe serving refreshments and you can sit in front of a relaxing view. Parking is free and temples don't sell ticket/charge entrance fees in Thailand.

Lee Wine Yunnan Restaurant is a popular spot just south of Lee Wine Resort reception, offering delicious Yunnan Chinese cuisine. The braised pork leg and tea leaves spicy salad are must-try dishes, while the minced pork soup with Chinese vegetables is mild and mellow. Despite being a bit pricey, the overall dining experience is great, especially with magnificent night views and cold weather adding to the ambiance.
Whenever we visit this place we eat at this restaurant because it has the best spot to see the whole view of the river. The food here is really delicious and our friend who came with us this time really enjoyed it. We had a set menu and it was enough for 6 of us. This place can be busy but nothing to worry about because they have enough space and the staff are attentive. I love the green tea mantou here, the tea leave salad and many more..lol just visit and try it. Highly recommended place.
MotoTh — Google review
We had dinner and breakfast here twice, and there are plenty of varieties from braised pork leg with mantou, fried vegetables, fried mushrooms, fried fish with sauce and many more. Overall the food was very good and the atmosphere was stunning.
Han K — Google review
We ordered tea leaf salad and steamed fish with rice and the food was delish. The fish didn’t smell fishy at all. It was cooked to perfection. We were welcomed with two types of tea, chrysanthemum and oolong. We went during the last week of July but the place was crowded and servers were overwhelmed with orders. We asked for water which they forgot to provide. After someone from our group choked, we urgently asked for water again and no one brought them to our table. There must have been some sort of miscommunication due to language barrier because we got water after asking for 4 times. This restaurant is non-halal and they serve pork, so we opted for fish dishes. There were plenty of vegetables and fish items available. For dessert, we had fried mantou and my gosh, it was the perfect dessert to end the day. The view of the lake, the lamps that lit the place, and the happy chatter of friends and families around me made the dinner a pleasant experience.
Tahmina B — Google review
Yunnan food here is always delicious and well-balanced. The Kourou (braised pork belly, 扣肉) is absolutely amazing — melts in your mouth and pairs perfectly with the tender pickled vegetables. The complimentary tea is wonderful, aromatic with a pleasant sweet aftertaste. The restaurant has a beautiful view, fast service, and clean, odor-free restrooms. We’ll definitely come back next time we’re here!
Khue H — Google review
Wonderful food! Kitchen was closing so we had to order quickly, and in our haste we ordered the “set” meal for 3-4ppl. We were so happy we did! It came with tea tasting, and so many delicious dishes! Pork leg in a simmering broth pot , tea leaves salad, mantou, a super flavorful pork dish , a giant bowl of dumplings soup with lily buds and purple rice & more. We couldn’t finish it and we can eat! The service could use improvements. She left our drinks on another table. And brought our bill while we were still eating. But was very nice. we then took a large boat out. Recommend you try a boat ride!
Gina — Google review
Nice view and the only decent eatery serving chinese food, simmer pork leg is so big and you gets loads of collagen with peppery soup, large servings so order sparingly. Carpark just besides and their product is varied, buy for souvenirs but price on higher side. Fried Noodles is nice too. Came here one year later, this restaurant is undergoing renovation but they still serve food. See photo for food, currently no more fried rice. Tips : get their Yunnan fried rice and fried buns, kids love it. Comes also with free crackers.
Chef C — Google review
The food was delicious, but the service was poor. We wanted to order a salad from the menu to lower our blood sugar. A minute after ordering, we were told it was out of stock. We chose another. When we were almost finished, the waitress came and said it was also out of stock.
Andrei U — Google review
Food here taste decent in a Yunnan Chinese style. Braised pork leg is a must to order. It tastes like Chinese herbs (medicines) style. Tea leaves spicy salad is also nice though I can't really find the tea leaves taste (only tomatoes and chili). The minced pork soup with some Chinese vegetable taste mild and mellow, the pork is also soft and bouncy. Overall is great, price is a bit expensive. View from this restaurant in the night is magnificent plus the cold weather amped up the whole experience.

Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint, located about 20 kilometers from Pai, offers impressive views at an elevation of approximately 1,450 meters. It is a popular stop for travelers between Pai and Mae Hong Son, especially during the winter season when misty mornings and cool temperatures create a magical atmosphere. The viewpoint is particularly stunning at sunset and often features local hill tribe stalls selling food and handicrafts in December and early January.
This place is a long windy drive to the top of the hill but it has a lookout on both sides of the highway and each of them are great in their own rights! I recommend getting here before sunset so you can watch it

Kiew Lom Hill is a stunning spot to watch the sunset near Ban Rak Thai. The road up is a bit steep, but the view at the top is absolutely worth it. From here, you can take in sweeping views of mountains, valleys, and the distant lake especially magical when clouds drift halfway down the hills. The air is cool and peaceful, making it the perfect place to pause, breathe deeply, and soak in the serenity. A must visit if you’re in Ban Rak Thai!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Wat Nam Hu, a compact Buddhist temple in Mae Hong Son Province, is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere and picturesque surroundings. Although it may not boast elaborate architecture or breathtaking views like other temples in the country, it holds great significance for Buddhists as a place of pilgrimage. Within its walls rests a hollow bronze statue of the Buddha that once had water flowing through its head, believed to possess healing properties.
We had the most fun at this temple feeding and playing with the hungry chickens. They are so obedient, waiting for us to feed. We spent an hour there. There are hardly any tourists there. Also, you can hop over to the pond to feed the fishes too. They are very hungry. Overall, the feel of the temple is wonderful. Should drop by if one has the time.
Lee K — Google review
Quiet temple with a fish pond and chickens to feed. There are two churches (one in the back) and two different styles of Buddha statues. I like the one in the back made from wood with gold accents. There is also a monument to King Naresuan near the pond. The chickens are in reference to that monument.

Nature & Parks
Nestled between the charming towns of Pai and Chiang Mai, Huai Nam Dang National Park is a breathtaking destination that promises an unforgettable experience for nature lovers. This lush park features rolling hills adorned with stunning mountain views, cascading waterfalls, and soothing hot springs. As you explore its scenic campgrounds perched on a bald mountain ridge, you'll be treated to spectacular sunrises and sunsets that paint the sky over the picturesque landscape.
Beautiful place to visit and relax, a must stop to see a beautiful landscape. It also has a camping area, the entrance I think costs 300 or 400 euros per person.

First stop in Mae Hong Son province if you're on the loop tour via Pai! There's a viewpoint about 4km north from the ticket booth (with winding roads too!) The officer told us it's foggy due to the rain but I absolutely loved the foggy view. There were also friendly dogs running around and welcoming us! It's the low season now due to the rain and people would usually come at the end of the year aka the cold season, as the terrace would be decorated with rows of colourful flowers. The same ticket for this national park could be used to visit Tha Pai Hot Spring in Pai, if you're using it within the same day.

This is a spectacular place for everything you want- nature, roads from Pai to Chiang Dao is kind of experience as many places are raw roads and under construction, you need to cross a few small river flows which I was scared off but the view of the entire road is spectacular with orange gardens and the mountains view all throughout. You can do camping, bird watching and many more. Cost is 400THB per person and worth it!

Huai Nam Dang National Park is absolutely breathtaking. The viewpoint at Doi Kiew Lom is famous for a reason – the sea of mist in the early morning with layers of mountains and the silhouette of Doi Luang Chiang Dao in the distance is just magical. There are camping areas and bungalows available, so you can stay overnight and wake up to the misty sunrise. The weather is cool all year round, especially during the winter months. The facilities are decent, clean, and the staff are friendly. The drive up is winding but manageable, and totally worth it. There are also nearby hot springs (like Pong Duet) you can visit for a relaxing soak. Highly recommended for nature lovers, campers, and anyone chasing unforgettable views. Don’t forget your camera – this place is pure Northern Thai beauty.

Caverns & Caves
Nam Lod Cave, also known as Tham Lod or Tham Nam Lod, is a historic limestone cave located in Pang Ma Pa District. The 1.6-kilometer-long cave features impressive rock formations and is cared for by the local community. Visitors can take a guided tour led by trained local villagers who explain the cave's formations and important spots inside.
My friend and I took a road trip from Pai to this incredible cave, which took us about two to three hours to reach. The journey was definitely worth it! The cave itself is vast and truly breathtaking—an amazing natural wonder that’s a must-visit for any nature lover. Inside the cave, we encountered a large number of bats, which added to the cave’s unique atmosphere, though it did have a strong smell. Despite that, the overall experience was unforgettable. If you're up for an adventure and love exploring natural beauty, I highly recommend checking out this cave!

Visit date: 8-Jul-25 (Tue) If you're visiting Sai Ngam Hot Spring within the same day, you can use the same entrance ticket! I'm excited to visit the prehistoric coffin and human remains in Cave 3 but apparently this option wasn't available due to the low water level. The guide said that the water level must be high enough to take the bamboo raft to Caves 2 and 3. Only Cave 1 tour is available, which was also interesting to feed the fish and see the unique limestone structures. The whole tour finished within 15 min. You are also required to hire a guide at the ticket booth or else you couldn't enter the cave.

It is a short detour from the Mae Hong Son loop and about an hour outside of Pai but well worth the trip. Cave consists of three main caverns, the last of which houses ancient coffins. Depending on the water level not all are accessible though.

After parking (which is free) you are required to hire a tour guide who will go with you to guide you through the cave. The guides know plenty about the cave, but not all of them speak English. The cave is VERY dark, so bring either a small tripod or a (flash) light if you're planning to take photos. It's well worth the price and a nice experience (floating in on the bamboo raft kinda feels like hopping onto a theme park darkride).

Very nice scenery. Was amazed by the raw nature of the cave. I booked a trip at one of the shops in Pai center. Be prepared, you need to pay an entry fee for the caves. Transport and entry fee are +- 450. Depends on how many caves you want to see (there are 3, all include rafting as well). One thing I was a bit concerned about was that there wasn’t like a kind of safety briefing. Because some stair are quite steep and some places are really slippery (would recommend wearing normal shoes). Still a very nice experience with some fun people!

Let us step into the historical and magical cave of Thailand, full of history and interesting things to see. This is my second time visiting back in january 2025 after my first visit in december 2018. I went to visit this cave to forget about my worries as something has happened to me back in 2018 but visiting here again, I wanted to replace the bad memories by enjoying the cave and replace it with good memories. Tagged along with two other travellers from Indonesia and Spain, plus our elderly tour guide, who told us interesting, funny and scary stories during the tour. We had a fantastic time! We went on a tour together because it was cheaper for us to split the cost of 600 baht to 200 baht each. So if you're travelling alone, would highly recommend you wait for two other travellers, just to split the cost of the tour as going alone will be expensive.

300 baht. They make you go with a guide, mine was old enough to be my grandma and I’m 45 lol. The guide brings a lantern because there’s no lighting. There’s better caves in Thailand so don’t get excited but worth a visit. Takes about an hour
Jamie R — Google review
Currently only the first part of the cave is open due to rainy season, which means no bamboo rafting. You walk through the first cave with your guide… there are so nice formations in there. Not the most wow cave, but if you have never seen a cave it’s pretty cool.

Pha Sua Waterfall น้ำตกผาเสื่อ

4.1

Namtok Pha Suea, also known as Pha Sua Waterfall, is a captivating natural wonder located in the picturesque Pai District of Mae Hong Son, Thailand. The name 'Pha Sua' translates to tiger cliff in Thai, reflecting the waterfall's majestic allure. While it may be less impressive during dry seasons, after rainfall, it transforms into a breathtaking sight.
Touristy but it’s not too crowded actually. Everyone just snaps a photo and then leaves but it’s worth spending a while just listening to the sound. It’s a powerful waterfall even though it’s not big.
Jessie W — Google review
100 baht entry fee for foreigners, just to watch the waterfall from far away and take a picture. Better watch it from the car park... Pang Ung is closed, why didn't the park management reconsider adjust the prices then? Asking 5 times more the price than thr locals it is pure discrimination
Iulia C — Google review
Waterfall itself is nice, however you can't even get close to it.. Only view it from 200 meters away. It's a shame they charge 100 baht for that
Gal H — Google review
Can’t swim here, 100 baht per person. If you stop Pang Ung as well it is worth it. If not, not recommended.
Bengi B — Google review
This waterfall is amazing 😍 especially after the rain season. Right now the waterfall is not worth visiting because it has very little amount of water. But after the rain season I can imagine the waterfall is amazing 😍😍 Entry fee for foreigners: Children until 3: for free Children 3 - 14 : 50 THb Children and adults above 14: 100 THb per person Scooter parking 20 THB Car parking: 30 THB
Joe “ — Google review
Nice waterfall but not worth the 100 baht payment to enter. You can just view it from far, The entrance is blocked
Shay Z — Google review
Absolutely worth the ride! I went at around 4PM so it was completely free and the bathrooms were open. There were other people there hanging out. It's not that far off the loop and totally worth the ride. Not to mention the small villages you pass through and the amazing views and roads you take to get here. There is no hike to this waterfall but there are stairs down to it. Wear shoes and be safe! Signs say no swimming or smoking just fyi
Bryan W — Google review
Nice and wide waterfall. Currently a bit dry but still nice to look at and have a stop before the village up the mountain. Entry is 100 Baht which is ok but could be less. Toilets are really not well maintained.

Charlie & Lek, located on Rungsiyanon Road, is a popular health restaurant in Pai known for its fresh and lovingly prepared Thai dishes. The cafe offers a mix of local and tourist-friendly options, with the chef willing to tailor orders to suit different preferences. The use of organic products sets them apart, and all their food is MSG-free. Despite being bustling, finding a table is usually not an issue.
Great place to eat! We got the chicken fried rice, green papaya pad Thai chicken with an egg too and red curry chicken with mixed rice. Both were delicious. We came here twice during our stay it was so good! Very fresh and healthy, and good value for money. Definitely recommend.

Had a pineapple fried rice, and a garlic chicken grill with rice. Both tasted very good. Came here last year as well and ate a couple of times. Good food great price. Excellent service

Great food. Super fresh, healthy and tasty. The place is missing the known vibe of most Thai places but doesn't lack the flavour at all. Penang Curry was out of this world. Owners where super friendly and helped us with our order. Really recommended!!

Absolutely delicious and fresh. I had panang curry with chicken, sticky rice, and an omelet. The curry was delicious and the veggies were crisp and yummy. The restaurant is clean and simple. The staff were all kind and accommodating.

💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 Outstanding Dining at Charlie & Lek in Pai 🍜 Delicious Authentic Thai Cuisine Every dish exceeded expectations—whether it was their khao soi, papaya pad thai, or massaman curry. One reviewer said: “Absolute 10/10 meal … easily the most we enjoyed so far in 2 weeks in north Thailand.” 🌱 Great for Vegetarians & Vegans Plenty of vegetarian‑friendly and vegan options. The menu caters thoughtfully to dietary needs. 😊 Warm & Welcoming Staff Service is friendly and efficient. One guest highlighted the quick service and local feel: “Really quick service and a lovely local restaurant!” 🥗 Quality & Fresh Ingredients The food feels home‑cooked with care—fresh vegetables, balanced flavors, and generous portions. The website Travel guides call it “some of the tastiest Thai food in Pai.” 📍 Solid Location Located on Rangsiyanon Road, near Pai Walking Street—easy access while still offering a relaxed setting. 🎯 Good Value Reviewers repeatedly mention portion size and price as a strong point: “Excellent, some of the best meals I’ve had in Thailand.” ✔️ Highly Recommended If you’re in Pai and want a memorable meal with authentic Thai flavors, fresh ingredients, friendly service, and a comfortable setting—Charlie & Lek checks all the boxes. Would definitely return and recommend to friends visiting Pai.

We decided to break our Thailand rule for dinning and rather than go to a local place filled with local people we went to Charlie&lek. The food was not on par with any local restaurant we have been to. I would define it as ok at best maybe not even that. It seems like the meat is pre-cooked and added to the dishes at the final stage of preparation, making it dry and rather blend. We ordered spring rolls, pad Thai, pad sew and fried rice with pineapple. The rice was rather tasteless, the other dishes were not what we got accustomed to in local places. The only reasonable dish was the pad thai. I would highly recommend going somewhere else where there are also Thai people eating, not only tourists.
