Tham Pla, also known as Fish Cave, is a charming spot located along Highway NR. 1095 and is home to a vibrant community of exotic blue fish that can grow up to a meter long. The cave's environment offers a refreshing experience for visitors. It is situated within the Tham Pla-Pha Suea National Park and requires an entry ticket for access. Visitors can enjoy feeding the large and hungry fish by purchasing fish food at the site.
I liked the place. It was well-kept and it was fun to feed the fish. A ticket for a tourist from other countries is 100 baht, and you can also go to the waterfall with this ticket.
Oleksandra K — Google review
Lovely well maintained National park. Trees everywhere, grassy areas. A small river runs through it with lots of hungry fish. Fish food sold at the park at modest prices. Kinda fun. Very lovely stop on your way. Note park entry fee for foreigners was 100 baht. Much much less for Thai's.
John P — Google review
A serene, well maintained area with a short loop walk to see the fish in the river. At the "source" of the river you look down into a small "cave" where many fish swim in the current. Interesting that this type of fish is not edible due to toxins it produces that make people feel dizzy or nauseous. The 100 baht ticket is also valid for other places in the park ( waterfall and the lake) so keep it.
Vincent O — Google review
100 baht entry fee to enjoy this beautiful nature walk to the fish cave! The nature trail was closed. We enjoyed buying fruits & vegetables from the locals to feed to the fish. So peaceful & serene with lovey views from the bridge. Highly recommended!
Kei L — Google review
There is a “cave” of sorts where you can see many fishes gathered. You can buy some fish feed (20 THB for each small bucket) to feed the fish and they will be excited to eat them ! There is also a nature trail but it is closed off at the moment. There is nothing much else to see in this place besides some local shops selling food and souvenirs. Entrance fee is 100 THB. Take note that this place is part of a huge national park called “Namtok Pha Suea - Tham Pla national park”, so if you happen to visit another attraction in this park , e.g the camping ground at Pang Oung, you can still use the same ticket to enter here.
Live L — Google review
Nice place! These fishes are crazy big and super hungry! You can buy fish food (1 basket) for aprox 50 baht. Entry is 200 Baht p Person Its worth to visit and there is also a beautiful park incl. restaurants!
Nicola B — Google review
This is kind more of a hyped up tourist attraction. Allot of shops. basically a park next to a few ponds with fish in it. But theres a kind enclave at the end with water and tonnes of fish in it. I enjoyed the stop as we were on the bikes. You can buy food for bowls for the fish and see everything around it.
Frasers C — Google review
Interesting cave with LOTS of fish! The fish food are THB 20 per bucket or 50 for 3. Since you can get close to the rim of the river, you can feed fish just like you feed rabbits! (Holding vegetable..) I’ve never known that fish eat pumpkin and some leaf vegetables!!! Lots of fun :)

Wat Chong Kham Temple is a picturesque lakeside temple located near Nong Chong Kham Public Park in Mae Hong Son. Dating back to 1827, it is the oldest temple in the area and showcases a blend of Thai Yai and Western architectural influences. The main hall features an impressive nine-tiered gabled roof with intricate decorations, while a large Buddha statue takes center stage inside.
After 4,000curve driving from Chiangmai to this place was so exciting moment. I don’t know when would I be back but for sure it was memorable. Recommend travel during winter time is safer than rainy season
Life A — Google review
The temple itself isn’t remarkable, but sitting by the lake in the evening, watching the sunset and the temple’s reflection on the water, was a unique experience. If you like my pictures, follow me on IG for more photography : @cleopatella

Visited after opening hours though it doesn't deter from entering. Just a quick tour around the perimeter, after night market.
Wayne T — Google review
One of the pair of temples on the lakeside. More ornate on the outside with the ornate silver ( aluminium) spires. Lovely Buddhas in each of the prayer halls. Do notice the green "jade" Buddhas alongside the principle statue in one hall. Lovely paintings on the wall in the left hand hall.
Vincent O — Google review
We walked around, it was mid so pics were hard to take. Not much to see inside. From a far it looks impressive with the lake in the foreground. 3btraveler

Temple by the lake - very interesting eclectic mix with elements of Mahayana and Hinduism represented too. You must visit their archive in one of the buildings - it's so fascinating, and such a random (to my eyes) of old collection (eg. Scrolls, statues, old photos) and Buddha stories that you'll have a consuming time, if you like such things
Mei Y — Google review
Worth visit if you are a temple lover. If you are not, there are couple of old stuffs to view... Drawings, Buddha statues, and lots more for you to explore ;)

Beautiful architecture different from the Thai classical style, on the border of the lake. Very nice neibourhood with a small park and street food😊

Buddhist temple
Wat Chong Klang and Wat Chong Kham are two prominent temples located by the Nong Chong Kham reservoir in Mae Hong Son. These beautiful temples offer a serene atmosphere, especially during sunset when they are illuminated and reflect on the calm waters of the reservoir. The Burmese-style structures within these temples date back to the mid-1800s, providing a unique spiritual ambiance.
"Wat Chong Kham" and "Wat Chong Klang" are a pair of ‘sibling’ temples, as they are located within the same walls, and both are symbols of Thai Yai culture. Apart from their artistic beauty, both temples serve as cultural and traditional centers for the people of Mae Hong Son. The front area is a public garden called Nong Chong Kham, used as a venue for various ceremonial and cultural activities according to different traditions.
Cocowlyn — Google review
The temple is relatively centrally located in the city facing the lake, and perhaps looks most beautiful when darkness falls and the lights are lit. Visited the temple during the day on a Saturday and it was quiet and peaceful with few visitors. There are parking spaces along the road past the site.
John S — Google review
One of the two temples on this site, built in Burmese style and in wood, giving a very different feel to the many other golden temples. Do go inside and admire the golden Buddha and walk to the "museum" hall on the left to see an array of artifacts and wooden carvings - too much to adsorb in a single visit! The stupa outside is brilliant gold at sunset and beautifully illuminated at night with reflections across the lake in front.
Vincent O — Google review
Nice but rather small temple. Built in the late 19th century. Very nicely lit in the evening. It perfectly harmonizes with the reflections in the surface of the lake. Stalls are set up on the street opposite the temple on weekends. It is adjacent to Wat Chong Kham. It looks like a temple complex to me.
Mariusz M — Google review
Rather small temple in the city of Mae Hong Son. From some photos I imagined the temple was a lot bigger but actually quite small to look around. The style of the temple is a bit different from the temples you would see Amat Bangkok. Felt more earthy and relaxed- maybe it was because of the influence of the Burmese culture. It must be also pretty to visit at night as the light gets reflected on the lake next to it.
Miho — Google review
My favorite temple in Thailand. Built in mid 1800s for Burmese monks who spent time mourning the death of a local abbot. Inside is all wooden including a bamboo Buddha. The wood gives it a more spiritual ambience for me as compared to the standard hard flooring and gold temples. Recommend going to the room on the left where there is a series of wooden statues also carved in the mid 1800s depicting key scenes in the Buddha's life including when he gave his son and daughter to a beggar as slaves.
Wm K — Google review
Very nice temple this is a temple you need to see in Mae Hong Son. Its made of wood in Burmese style. Its a very nice temple made of wood. You must ask to in the museum in the main temple building. Its the door to the left you can see my pictures its amazing. If you need to visit a temple in Mae Hong son this is one of the temple you should visit. Its close to the public park and dam in the middle of the city.

Market
Morning Market (Talat Chao) in Mae Hong Son is a bustling foodie paradise where locals gather at dawn to shop for an array of goods, from edible insect larvae to fresh fruits and vegetables. The market boasts a vibrant atmosphere with traders dressed in traditional costumes, adding to the neighborhood's charm. Visitors can sample unique breakfast dishes like tooa poo un, a noodle dish served with split-pea porridge and deep-fried Burmese tofu.
Love this market, clean and organized! Found some tapioca cake that I really like! The vegetables are so fresh and they have mohinga noodles.
Joycelyn N — Google review
This is a local morning market The people very friendly some insisted I take thier photo. I think foreigners are rare here deep in the market place. Had one of my best Thai Coffees here.
KayView K — Google review
A local market that sells everything under the sun. You can get fresh fruits, vegetables and meat, as well as cooked food, especially in the morning. They also sell clothes and all sorts of other things. You can catch the yellow songthaews from opposite the market to various places, like Ban Rak Thai. If heading to Ban Rak Thai, there's only 1 songthaew leaving daily at around 12 noon. Be here from about 11.15am to get a spot.

Really nice to spend about half an hour. No tourists around. Find fruits, vegetables, herbs, mushrooms you’ve never seen before.
Jisephus J — Google review
Good and fresh local food. Can get burmese-shan food too. Must try if you are in Mae Hongson
Leithandar T — Google review
Nice place to walk about and get local snacks. Need to speak Thai if not quite awkward to order food. But food looks really tasty!
Alberto G — Google review
Recommended by the hotel manager at Boondee Guesthouse in Mae Hong Son (stay there!). Very large and bustling. We sat down for a breakfast of noodles made by a very nice lady. A couple came and sat next to us and they were so much fun! A great way for a tourist to get a peek into Thai lifestyle …

Beautiful temple on the top of the hill. The observation deck offers stunning panoramic views of the city, airport, town and mountains.

Last time I came here was almost 20 years ago. I visited again on September 2025. The place was lacked of proper maintenance. It looked worn out. But, yeah, nothing lasts forever. I loved to sit there enjoying panoramic view of this isolated town, absorbing peacefulness. It is the great place to recharge and revive your energy.
Oak N — Google review
Beautiful temple with stunning views! The temple is located on top of a hill, offering a breathtaking view of the entire city. If you visit around sunset, you’ll find a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the scenery. You can also hike up from the temple in the city if you enjoy climbing — it’s a rewarding walk. Next to the main temple, there’s a small memorial site dedicated to bikers who lost their lives on the loop. It’s a peaceful and meaningful place, suitable for both adults and children. There’s also a small coffee shop near the top where you can grab a drink or something cold to refresh yourself.
Rave G — Google review
We drove up in the evening. The night view of Mae Hong Son town was beautiful. And this Wat is amazing with Burmese architecture influences.

Best place to see Full view of Mea Hong Son Old temple the most iconic Place in City. Don’t miss it if you come to this lovely city
Nuthavooth H — Google review
Beautiful temple up in the mountains where you can see the entire city of Mae Hong Son. Be prepared to hike up some stairs to get to the temple and the Buddha statue. The temple is simple but elegant in white and gold. They hung colorful lanterns in one of the stupas when we visited. There's a gazebo on the north side where you can see planes landing and taking off from the nearby ariport. It was a really hot mid-morning when we stopped by but there is a cafe serving refreshments and you can sit in front of a relaxing view. Parking is free and temples don't sell ticket/charge entrance fees in Thailand.

Located on the outskirts of Mae Hong Son City in Thailand, the Zu Tong Tae Bridge is a picturesque bamboo bridge that crosses the Sa-Nga river and a vibrant rice field. Surrounded by lush greenery, this enchanting spot offers visitors a fairytale-like experience as they walk through the magical landscape. The bridge provides access to a temple and can be reached by car, making it an easily accessible and highly recommended destination for those visiting Mae Hong Son or Ban Rak Thai.
Visited today and loved the serenity of the place. Seeing the monks going about their daily routines and rituals. Listening to the monks chanting from their temple added to the peaceful atmosphere. Pay a donation if you wish
K H — Google review
A first for me. Free admission. Park where the toilets are and only 1 minute walk.. A woven bamboo bridge across the rice fields. Then the walkway becomes a bridge over the river. Then there are several steep flights of steps upto the wat. Care needed. The 360 degree views are lovely. Views from the wat are great. A hat and lotion recommended. Your out in the middle of a rice field and the sun will get you. A few souvenir sellers and a few food sellers at the car park. When in Thailand why not try. The creaking of the bamboo walkway is great.
Philip R — Google review
Really interesting cave to visit with signs of habitation going back thousands of years. We had the misfortune of coming there just at the tailend of the rainy season. That meant we could not visit cave 2 and 3 (where ancient coffins are visible). Not sure if this was because the water was too high or the bridge was swept away during a flood, the explanation was lost on me. Anyway, even just the one cave was totally worth the short detour from the Mae Hong Son loop.
Maarten D — Google review
Very nice spot with beautiful views! You can easily spend about 30–45 minutes walking along the bamboo bridge, visiting the temple at the end, and heading back. There’s a cozy coffee shop near the bridge where you can grab a cold drink and relax. The small souvenir shop is also lovely and offers very affordable items. Highly recommended for a peaceful and scenic visit!
Rave G — Google review
Really enjoyed this walk. Coffee shop at start/finish, who is a bonus. The temple is interesting and the surrounding countryside is stunning
John H — Google review
It's a beautiful and tranquil temple with a bamboo bridge extending over lush green fields. It's a great place for a walk and to relax. The Buddha statues in the temple are very beautiful. I would say it's one of my favorite temples. I will definitely return.
Pim P — Google review
A beautiful site. I was here in the beginning of October and the fields were so nice and green.
Dunn T — Google review
This bridge is in every "tourist" post and blogs for Mae Hong Son and since it's on the way, we checked it out. It is very interesting because it is made of bamboo cut thinly and weaved into a mat. This bridge was built by the villagers for the monks of the Buddhist temple by the hill. Usually, the farm around the area is planted with rice and is flooded with water. We visited prior to the rainy season and the farmers had planted peanuts instead. The surrounding giew is beautiful. The bridge is long but it was a pleasant walk. We passed by a river with clear waters. Parking is free and theres no fee to get in. There's souvenir shops by the parking area if you want to buy something.

Nestled in the Khun Yuam district, Thung Bua Tong Fields at Doi Mae U Kho is a breathtaking sight to behold. This expansive area is adorned with vibrant yellow Mexican sunflowers that reach their peak bloom during Thailand's wintertime from November to February. The fields can be admired from a hilltop pavilion, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Despite the challenging ascent, visitors are rewarded with a spectacular and magnificent display of flowers.
During the sunflower bloom, November into December, the fields are awash with flowers. It can be very crowded during this time, particularly on weekends. There is no entry fee and just driving through is amazing. Parking a car can be difficult. During the off-season the hills are still a nice scene but not the same.
Greg R — Google review
It's a seasonal pla e for the flowers. I went to early. The views are great with the clouds wrapping around the peaks. Nice place
Philip R — Google review
We dropped in whilst riding the Mae Hong Son Loop right at the end of the rainy season in the last week of October. There were some open flowers but the main bloom was still two weeks or more away. On the plus side, there were very few tourists around and the atmosphere is quite serene.
Chris G — Google review
A must go! Super big and free to explore.. i went around 2 pm and the sky was a bit dark. Sadly i didn’t have time to wait until sunset but i bet it will even more beautiful Do check the weather.. i think the best time would be on November when all the flowers bloom
Bonia — Google review
Really beautiful spot. Great place to watch the sunset. Some food options though I didn't try any. The flowers are very beautiful and the view is spectacular. The roads leading up to it are nice but not that notable so on the drive up we worried we'd come all that way for a disappointing tourist trap, but honestly once we reached the fields we found it truly breathtaking. My photos and video should say the rest.
Armand D — Google review
I came end October and many flowers were still not open. I imagine if you come here mid November it will be awesome. When you are on highway 108 or on 1263 then you ahould definitely drive up here it is only about 10 km from the intersection with 1263.
Toby M — Google review
Free to visit and the roads going up here are well paved. We were in Thailand in kid-February and the flowers are in their off season. I believe they bloom in November to December. It would have been very beautiful if we visited when the fields are filled with yellow mini sunflowers. Nonetheless, the viewdeck offers a wonderful view of the mountains.
Belle — Google review
Beautiful spot, very busy. Windy road with lots of hills, make sure to have car that can handle the grades as the one we rented was questionable at best. The flowers are amazing, very beautiful. would recommend. We visited November 21, 2023

Namtok Mae Surin National Park, located near Mae Hong Son town, covers 399 square kilometers and is known for its impressive features. The park boasts the towering Doi Pui mountain and the breathtaking Mae Surin Falls, which stands over 100 meters tall. During the dry season, visitors can hike to the base of the falls, but this becomes more challenging during monsoon season.
Absolutely amazing waterfall and surrounding 😍 it's a hell of a ride to get there but it is 100% worth it. The rode to the waterfall is already stunning with amazing views and beautiful streets which are in good condition:) And the waterfall is amazing, huge and absolutely beautiful Entry fee for foreigners is 200thb

The journey to this waterfall is quite long. The road from the other side has a lot of landslides (we came from Mae Hong Son) but the view's definitely worth it. And the view from the top of the waterfall is amazing. 200baht fee for foreigners
Dana V — Google review
Don't walk all the way to the lowest level, the view isn't as good as higher up. For a better picture I would recommend going after lunch when the Sun isn't facing you.
Phillip I — Google review
The waterfall is spectacular but you get quite a limited view on it from a few viewing platforms, as it's not possible to hike down as a regular tourist. There seem to be quite limited things to do in the national park as well. During off season, food and coffee options nearby are also closed due to a shortage of visitors, you'd have to drive pretty far to find something to eat, maybe even to the nearest big town, Khun Yuam. It's worth a visit if you're in the area though.
Hui R — Google review
Life is a journey , the road to this park is amazing! A yearly trip for me , must see this waterfalls and the sunflowers.
Brian D — Google review
Despite we’ve seen a lot of waterfalls in Thailand, I can say, that this waterfall is one of, which impressed us a lot. Yes, you cannot come to this waterfall closely and touch it, but we’ve found a special pleasure in sitting nearby, enjoying it from afar and listening the noise of water…it was simply great.
T.O.E E — Google review
I can understand why some folks are complaining about the rough journey and price for foreigners for just a viewpoint on the waterfall. Well the journey inland from the main loop is indeed rough for 4WD especially if u come from Mae Hong Son due to steep uphill. I wouldn't recommended small 125 or 150cc scooters to take this route as you may faced issue going up hill due to lack power in your engine. Riding off-road on comfty 400cc scooter was a little difficult due to a small section of tight uneven dirt road else everything is fine if u nagivate carefully on the bends and overtaking on dry season. Wet season road conditions might be worse. View is okay not breath taking..No harm giving it a miss if u do not have enough time.

Pang Oung is a stunning high-terrain lake surrounded by lush gardens and fruit trees, offering picturesque walking paths and bamboo rafting. It's often referred to as the 'Switzerland of Mae Hong Son' due to its serene mountain setting with cool temperatures, pine forests, and a beautiful lake. The area also features a campground near the reservoir where visitors can rent tents for a night in nature.
picturesque little reservoir with well maintained grounds including flower beds. Entrance is free. There are bamboo rafts that take you around the lake for a small fee. There is also camping available. It is also adjacent to a small town which is quite nice as well.

This place is gorgeous! A very scenic road to this place. If you like nature and tranquility it's a great place to stay here for a few days or weeks. In the village you can find coffee, local shops and food.

Nice place but I wouldn’t say it’s a must do. Very crowded when we were there. Also has a campsite with lovely facilities. There is a small trail where nobody walks on so if you want to get away from the crowds that’s my recommendation 😊

Such a nice place to spend the morning. I rent a rafting experience on the spot for about 15 minutes ride and met 2 beautiful swans along the way.. definitely a noteworthy stop in your itinerary

Second time came here, still like the environment here too, have to take bamboo boat about 20min to see a couple of white swan's, previous visit here was one white and black,if need to drive car inside the forest and camping need to purchase tickets,if you pass by Ban Rak Thai must visit here.

Paid 100baht/adult at pha suea waterfall thinking it was cheap to access 2/3 places of interest within the same park. But this was free! No need for an entrance fee to enjoy this part of the park. Bamboo boat ride was 150baht. Fish food was sold but the fishes weren't eating. The road leading to Pang Ung is narrow and certain sections have no safety barriers. Be safe.

Yun Lai Viewpoint is a hilltop village complex near the Myanmar border in Pai, offering panoramic valley views and tea service. The area is known for its cultural diversity, with the Chinese Yunnan Cultural Village reflecting Yunnan influence and history of Chinese settlers fleeing the Mao Tse Tung revolution. Santichon village was built to address drug problems and has become an exotic tourist spot.
Visit date: 8-Jul-2025 Definitely the best sunrise spot in Pai overlooking the whole town area. 20 baht per entry. There was only 5 people when I visited on a Tuesday morning. It was a gloomy morning thus no sunrise but the sea of fog was amazing still! There's also a 'wishing tree for couples' and a fish pond (feel free to feed the fish, 10 baht for the fish feed).
Aurélien T — Google review
Nice viewpoint! It is on the top of a hill with a view overlooking the valley and town. There are some nice places to take photographs and you can buy some food and drink from the uncle taking care of the place. I went there in the evening and it was peaceful and quiet. Even saw a small snake swimming in the water. You need to pay to enter.
Collins — Google review
The viewpoint is a beautiful spot, even though we didn’t get to see the sunrise because of the clouds. The entrance fee is 20 THB per person. Inside, you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea in a lovely, peaceful atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop!
Rave G — Google review
good view on the mountains surrounding yourself. the path to go with a scooter can be a bit challenging for beginners, the end is quite steep. tee is good. the entrance fee was 20 THB in July 2025. it's also romantic, you can write your names and put on the tree. Google about this Chinese village to know the history, or gemini. it's quite interesting.
Samuel P — Google review
Beautiful viewpoint, 20 baht per person but so worth it. Has a little shop, cafe and free toilets. Gives such a nice view of Pai so is worth the drive up.
Katie C — Google review
Just a very beautiful viewpoint. Not a lot to do and the restaurant is expensive. There are so many viewpoints in the area, not sure I can recommende about this one. Next to the viewpoint there's a flowers garden, with small entrance fee but we didn't have time to go.
Shy G — Google review
There was an entrance fee for this viewpoint but I cant remember how much (under 100 baht per person) but definitely worth it. Great spot to see the whole area from above. There's also a very detailed garden behind the viewpoint that is an additional cost to enter but you can snap some pics of it from the parking lot and it's super beautiful. Must be confident on a scooter to get to the viewpoint, it's super uneven and very steep roads.
Michael M — Google review
Good view point , but don’t visit at afternoons bcz the heat is too much. You can feed the fishes and hangout a bit there and enjoy the time. Approx 30 mins you can spend there. 20 baht entrance free was needed.

Salawin National Park is a vast expanse of dense forest located along the border of Myanmar, covering 722 sq km in Mae Sariang and Sop Moei districts. The park is home to teak and Asian redwood trees, offering stunning natural beauty and picturesque landscapes for hiking enthusiasts. Visitors can also enjoy the scenic views and relax at the park ranger outpost near the Myanmar border.
We had so much fun in Salawin! If you drive through it, I highly recommend that you DO NOT take the road from east to west directly through the park unless you are a skilled rider or in a helluva a 4 wheel drive vehicle. There is an awesome park ranger outpost on the Myanmar border and it was fun to chill it with the park rangers there for a night!

Good to get into nature for 90 mins but this walk lacks features eg waterfalls, views. Path is not well marked and map at the entrance is misleading. see pics vs true gps track. Man at the entrance didnt ask for money.

Went here by motorbike, 125cc Honda Click. Could have been the mistake of a lifetime. The park is absolutely gorgeous and I discovered places where probably less than 10 people set foot every day. However, what looks like a road on Google that leads through the park to Bang Tha Ta Fang is not a road at all. I had to cross a river about 50 times, sometimes knee-deep. The motorbike survived, but had it not, I would have been absolutely stranded. The first part coming from Mae Sariang is paved, then doable, then it gets worse and worse. I recommend driving until you can't drive anymore and then hike further. It's an awesome place for hiking or some wild camping. Always bring water and food with you.

An absolute disappointment. We came here to hike and to expierence the beautyfull scenery of this vast area. As with almost all national parks in Thailand, the management seem to be just plain wrong. Each national park has a fancy and ever expanding entrance with shops, campingplaces and picknicktables. It seems the Thai don't understand what to offer tourists that come and visit. They seem to create a luxurious picknick place and a fancy visitor center at each park and this is about it. For Salawin National park we only had 1 trail of no more than 2 kilometers. It was pretty, but way too short. So right after, we went to the visitor center and, what a surprise, nobody spoke English. This has been a persistent problem when visiting parks and reserves around Thailand. The communication is plain horrible. We asked if there are other entrances for the park to visit and hike. The park ranger simple couldn't explain or answer any of these simple type of questions. The reviews of this place are primairly from the Thai and they seem to have a different understanding of visiting a vast natural area. They seem to not understand the concept of long free hikes, on plain trails in the park. The only option would be to hire a guide an literally pay hundres of euros for a hike in which the guide isn't able to properly speak in English and explain things a long the way. We came to another disapointment by visiting this national park.
Holland D — Google review
Pretty area but apart from showers no facilities to speak of.
Bob K — Google review
There wasn't too much information available at the info centre, other than some hand drawn maps. There is a 1 hour hike around, signposting is ok except for the last part when you cross a small river. You can drive up into the park but there isn't anything particular to see up there.
Paul F — Google review
We hoped to find some other activity or route in the park, but the only person in the park – the guard – could not tell us much. We decided to have a snack and bike towards the Burmese border to see one of the longest rivers in the world Salawin in the village Mae Sam Laep. Namtok Pha Suea - Tham Pla National Park is a picturesque destination featuring a rocky mountain cascade surrounded by pine and evergreen forests. The waterfall is most powerful during the rainy season from July to September. The park offers more attractions on the way to Ban Rak Thai, including waterfalls and a fish cave, all accessible for an entrance fee of THB100. Visitors can explore the area's lush green mountains and enjoy facilities such as a new office, coffee shop, and toilets.
Cool little waterfall, no hiking to it as it's right off the road. I was there alone so it made it better, there's no swimming allowed.
Mervin C — Google review
Review for just the waterfall... 100Bht each for waterfall, but the path to it is now closed and overgrown. You can only get to about 50mtrs from it on a viewing platform. So, not worth stopping here if you wanted to get right to the water and dip your feet etc... Run a tap or flush the loo while you look at the photo I attached. That should save you the trip and 100Bht each 😉
Dave C — Google review
The water was closed on February 8th, no information about when it will reopen. When it does reopen, you should be able to enter with the ticket from the Fish Cave, as it's the same national park. If not, neither place is worth the 100 TBH entrance fee on its own.

We were just passing by and decided to take a look. We are in august - rainy season- there is a lot od water! Very short walk to the fall. Did not find fish cave, the lady at the chashier was not helpful at all:(

The office is brand new, there is a coffee shop and toilets. The office is just next to the road so be ready to turn in otherwise you miss it. You can not swim sadly in the waterfall just take some pictures and move on. You can use the same ticket from the fish cave and the Royal National park. So please visit them in one day you pay 200 thb as no Thai and 20 thb for 3 places. It has water most seasons it is pretty waterfall for a few selfies. The office close around 17.30 do not come to late.

Pai Canyon, also known as Kong Lan, is a must-visit destination in Pai. It offers narrow hiking trails with sweeping valley views and is often ambitiously referred to as The Grand Canyon of Thailand. Some notable attractions nearby include the Chinese Village (Santichon), Wat Klang, Chedi Phra That Mae Yen, The Land Split, and WWII Memorial Bridge.
We loved it! If you like climbing hard surfaces and thrilling activities, you’re gonna love it too! Entrance is 10 baht per person for maintenance purposes. You have to walk up the stairs for 3-5 mins till you reach the top, and from then onwards several trails go into different directions and you can choose to go onto any of them. The views were insane and the air was refreshing. Our clothes got soiled trying to pass some of the openings, so keep that in mind. It was sometimes windy but also very hot, so I would recommend wearing sunscreen/cap/hat and carrying a water bottle. If you want to hike up the challenging trails, hiking shoes are a must! I really enjoyed the two hours we spent here. Gazing at the chasm below, the greenery around, the mountains at a distance, the valleys with a house here and there, and soaking up the vastness of the place was a healing experience. Pictures don’t do justice to the views we got. However, some parts of the trail was highly risky and there’s no safety gear for assistance. There’s also no one around to ask for help so I’m unsure about what would happen if an accident were to take place.
Tahmina B — Google review
Entry is free but maintenance is 10 baht. Once you enter the place, you have three routes to take. The one on the left is your path if you are adventurous. Also, people usually spend 20 minutes here, mostly near the gazebo. But if you cover all three routes it takes a minimum of 1 hour. And the place is very scenic dotted with views and trees everywhere. Go in the morning and relax there till afternoon. Highly recommended.
Madhava P — Google review
Super cool spot, you can easily get there bye going to pai walking street and paying 100 baht at pretty much any taxi stand and they will take you and pick you up. It was beautiful at sunset; super easy to get to, there is a lot to “hike “ if you want to, but if you don’t want to it’s about a 4 minutes uphill walk and then you’re there. I recommend hiking to the other side and going through the little crevices that are naturally formed. Super good thing to do while in pai.
Cooper G — Google review
What a great experience, it’s free even to park your bike/scooter. There are easily lots of ways to enjoy the canyon regardless of the experience you’re looking for, but it will depend on your fitness and strength, fear of heights etc. If this was back in the UK it would be fenced off 🤣. People say to go at sunrise or sunset but we went in the middle of the day, and yes it was very hot, but not very busy. In this type of situation we would always choose the extreme heat over the crowds. Good foot ware is advisable and avoid if it’s been raining. Highly recommend.
Martin — Google review
Short walk up from the parking area until you reach the canyon. It’s very picturesque and unique to see so would highly recommend, entry was 1 baht and toilets are 5 baht. Would recommend wearing sturdy shoes as it can be quite slippy on some of the sandy bits.
Katie C — Google review
The place is beautiful and perfect for watching the sunset. Arrive about 15–20 minutes early — there’s a short and easy climb to the top of the hill. The only downside is the safety along the walking path. Some parts are not well protected, and a small slip could end very badly. I really hope the local authorities will improve it soon. At the parking area, you can find small food stalls with tasty local snacks at very reasonable prices.
Rave G — Google review
Well, it has a great view all around and that's basically it. I wouldn't call it a canyon it's a sandy hill. For anyone coming to see sunsets let me tell you - there are no sunsets in Pai.
Yuval R — Google review
Get there early and find your seat to watch the sunset :) The sunset at two huts was a better view for me, but this was also stunning as you get to see the canyon. Wear slippery proof shoes and the rocks are easy to slip on. Cross the narrow lanes if you dare.

Tha Pai Hot Spring is a popular destination located about 8 kilometers south of Pai town center and not far from Pai Canyon. The hot spring offers various pools with different temperatures, including a pool with warm water and another where the water is boiling hot. Visitors can enjoy the stunning view of the sun's rays shining through the steam in the early mornings. There are also shower and changing rooms available on-site.
An amazing place to chill, Water are super hot and separated to 4 different pools, with decreasing temperatures. The pools are much hotter then stated on the signs next to it, so try entering slowly and gradually. Overall great place and highly recommended for a visit. You can even hike a little to see the spring itself.
Niv G — Google review
Beautiful maintained hot springs. First you can walk upwards to the actual hot springs which are around 80 degrees and smell like bad eggs 🤭 Afterwards you can bath in very nicely arranged pools with different water temperatures ranging from 36 degrees to 32 degrees. There's a 300 baht fee for foreigners but I think it's adequate since they really took care of the place. I also would prefer this over the other hot springs (Siam Ngam) since there are more pools here. 🙏
Krbs — Google review
It’s actually very beautiful. Usual National Park Entrance Fee and a short walk, easy drive to get there. The water has clearly been channeled into the different levels (hottest at the top) and into the concrete pools. However, walking past these and up to the top to see the source of the water at the hot spring is well worth it, beautiful and steamy.
R2thebizel — Google review
Very nice water springs, has a range of water temperatures so you can work your way up to the hotter temperatures. We went in October and it was extremely quiet as it was low season so it was really enjoyable.

Very beautiful paid hot springs. 300 baht for foreigners. I don’t really agree with paying to use nature, but the site is well maintained and there are showers and changing rooms on site, just be careful of snakes. Four cascading pools at varying temperatures between 28-38C degrees. The source at the top is 80C.

It’s a beautiful place came right as they opened up in the morning and we spoke with a monk who’s super nice and friendly and helped us with our Thai and how to greet a monk properly, very peaceful place beautiful views and very clean, it was under construction when we went but it didn’t take away from the beauty of it I would definitely recommend also there’s some cute dogs usually hanging around at the top and bottom. ( remember to respect the rules and cover up!)
Sam H — Google review
It was nice to see but the Buddha was ‘under construction’ (bamboo scaffolding). You have a nice view from there but I guess there are similar if not better views in the area. Go early morning to avoid the heat. Although the stairs are manageable. We spent about 20 minutes there so it’s good to combine with other activities.
Carlijn K — Google review
The view is next level for Pai. You can see everything with a very short drive and walk. The Buddha itself is under reconstruction with restoration work part way, which was still interesting to see though the view White Buddha faces out to, is what makes this spot so special. No entry fee required. A local advised walking but I took a scooter, and after seeing the drive in I wouldn't recommend to walk this. The entrance is a large gate on the road, leading further up a driveway to the beginning of the stairs, the road continues to the right for cars and scooters.
Azzurro B — Google review
The Buddha is under construction and repairs. It's not white at the moment and some pieces are broken. Not sure how long it's going to take, so be aware... Been said that, the viewpoint is just breathtaking! And another reason to go, is that good feeling you climed 300 stairs and survived 😃😃

I went here to meet the sunrises, unfortunately, the entrance close at 06:00 pm — so keep this in mind before visiting, there is a gorgeous view of the valley And very nice temple And not too much tourists — especially early morning (but maybe because it’s low season) In September- October 2025 the Buddha statue is being reconstructed here

Took a drive to here for the sunset, but it closes before the sun sets. It's an impressive image with great views of Pai and would be an amazing place to have the sun disappear behind the mountains. Nam Lod Cave, also known as Tham Lod or Tham Nam Lod, is a historic limestone cave located in Pang Ma Pa District. The 1.6-kilometer-long cave features impressive rock formations and is cared for by the local community. Visitors can take a guided tour led by trained local villagers who explain the cave's formations and important spots inside.
My friend and I took a road trip from Pai to this incredible cave, which took us about two to three hours to reach. The journey was definitely worth it! The cave itself is vast and truly breathtaking—an amazing natural wonder that’s a must-visit for any nature lover. Inside the cave, we encountered a large number of bats, which added to the cave’s unique atmosphere, though it did have a strong smell. Despite that, the overall experience was unforgettable. If you're up for an adventure and love exploring natural beauty, I highly recommend checking out this cave!

Visit date: 8-Jul-25 (Tue) If you're visiting Sai Ngam Hot Spring within the same day, you can use the same entrance ticket! I'm excited to visit the prehistoric coffin and human remains in Cave 3 but apparently this option wasn't available due to the low water level. The guide said that the water level must be high enough to take the bamboo raft to Caves 2 and 3. Only Cave 1 tour is available, which was also interesting to feed the fish and see the unique limestone structures. The whole tour finished within 15 min. You are also required to hire a guide at the ticket booth or else you couldn't enter the cave.
Aurélien T — Google review
It is a short detour from the Mae Hong Son loop and about an hour outside of Pai but well worth the trip. Cave consists of three main caverns, the last of which houses ancient coffins. Depending on the water level not all are accessible though.
Maarten D — Google review
After parking (which is free) you are required to hire a tour guide who will go with you to guide you through the cave. The guides know plenty about the cave, but not all of them speak English. The cave is VERY dark, so bring either a small tripod or a (flash) light if you're planning to take photos. It's well worth the price and a nice experience (floating in on the bamboo raft kinda feels like hopping onto a theme park darkride).
Mr M — Google review
Very nice scenery. Was amazed by the raw nature of the cave. I booked a trip at one of the shops in Pai center. Be prepared, you need to pay an entry fee for the caves. Transport and entry fee are +- 450. Depends on how many caves you want to see (there are 3, all include rafting as well). One thing I was a bit concerned about was that there wasn’t like a kind of safety briefing. Because some stair are quite steep and some places are really slippery (would recommend wearing normal shoes). Still a very nice experience with some fun people!

Let us step into the historical and magical cave of Thailand, full of history and interesting things to see. This is my second time visiting back in january 2025 after my first visit in december 2018. I went to visit this cave to forget about my worries as something has happened to me back in 2018 but visiting here again, I wanted to replace the bad memories by enjoying the cave and replace it with good memories. Tagged along with two other travellers from Indonesia and Spain, plus our elderly tour guide, who told us interesting, funny and scary stories during the tour. We had a fantastic time! We went on a tour together because it was cheaper for us to split the cost of 600 baht to 200 baht each. So if you're travelling alone, would highly recommend you wait for two other travellers, just to split the cost of the tour as going alone will be expensive.

300 baht. They make you go with a guide, mine was old enough to be my grandma and I’m 45 lol. The guide brings a lantern because there’s no lighting. There’s better caves in Thailand so don’t get excited but worth a visit. Takes about an hour
Jamie R — Google review
Currently only the first part of the cave is open due to rainy season, which means no bamboo rafting. You walk through the first cave with your guide… there are so nice formations in there. Not the most wow cave, but if you have never seen a cave it’s pretty cool.

First stop in Mae Hong Son province if you're on the loop tour via Pai! There's a viewpoint about 4km north from the ticket booth (with winding roads too!) The officer told us it's foggy due to the rain but I absolutely loved the foggy view. There were also friendly dogs running around and welcoming us! It's the low season now due to the rain and people would usually come at the end of the year aka the cold season, as the terrace would be decorated with rows of colourful flowers. The same ticket for this national park could be used to visit Tha Pai Hot Spring in Pai, if you're using it within the same day.

This is a spectacular place for everything you want- nature, roads from Pai to Chiang Dao is kind of experience as many places are raw roads and under construction, you need to cross a few small river flows which I was scared off but the view of the entire road is spectacular with orange gardens and the mountains view all throughout. Huai Nam Dang National Park is absolutely breathtaking. The viewpoint at Doi Kiew Lom is famous for a reason – the sea of mist in the early morning with layers of mountains and the silhouette of Doi Luang Chiang Dao in the distance is just magical. There are camping areas and bungalows available, so you can stay overnight and wake up to the misty sunrise. The weather is cool all year round, especially during the winter months. The facilities are decent, clean, and the staff are friendly. The drive up is winding but manageable, and totally worth it. There are also nearby hot springs (like Pong Duet) you can visit for a relaxing soak. Highly recommended for nature lovers, campers, and anyone chasing unforgettable views. Don’t forget your camera – this place is pure Northern Thai beauty.

Amazing camping place, best for sunrise and sunset. If you are in Chiang Mai, this is a super recommended place. Just 80Km from the city, you can use local transportation or rent a car/bike. The roads, mountains and everything about this is pretty amazing. Food is available and you can rent tents as well

Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan is a stunning Buddhist temple complex that captivates visitors with its ornate golden shrines and vibrant statues. Nestled near the charming village of Ban Thawai, known for its rich tradition in woodcarving, this area showcases exquisite craftsmanship influenced by various indigenous styles including Lanna and Tibetan. The temple is part of the revered Relics of the Four Peaks, which hold significant cultural importance to both locals and travelers alike.
An excellent monastery for learning and practicing Vipassana in the tradtion of ven Mahasi Sayadaw. Indiviudal instructions and daily interviews are given by monks residing at the monastery. Truly a precious place for practice. The daily routine is quite tough with restricted sleep and long hours of practice. I suggest considering your current mental condition. Having ongoing psychiatric issues and doing a retreat here might be a lot. But the discipline helps deepen the meditation. For those interested in Theravada meditative traditions or in general want a place to get authentic instructions and guidence I recommend coming.

I’ve stayed at this temple on two occasions for 10-day Vipassana meditations, and both experiences were truly transformative. The first time I came, I wasn’t sure what to expect — it was recommended by a friend — but I ended up extending my stay because it was so peaceful and meaningful. I returned six months later for another retreat, and it was just as powerful. The temple is beautiful and very well maintained, with a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for meditation. Speaking to others, it’s clear this place is especially well suited for Westerners, offering a higher standard of comfort without losing its authenticity. I stayed in a private, air-conditioned room that was very comfortable, and the vegetarian food was absolutely delicious — fresh, healthy, and cooked with care. All in all, it’s a truly special place that stays with you long after you leave. If you’re considering a 10-day Vipassana retreat, I couldn’t recommend this temple more.

I had the privilege of staying at Wat Chom Tong for several months this year, practicing Vipassana meditation under the guidance of truly inspirational monk teachers. The teachings were deep and transformative, as the practice brings calm and insight, with benefits that carry over into everyday life. The temple really cares for international students, providing a comfortable and welcoming environment, and even accompanied me to take refuge, guiding me through this important step. I am beyond grateful for the teachers, staff, and community, and I wholeheartedly recommend this temple to anyone interested in mindfulness practice. Practicing Vipassana is the greatest gift you can give yourself.

I did my first meditation retreat in Wat Rom Poeng Chiang Mai many years ago and in 2022 for my second retreat in Thailand I came to Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan without realising that both monasteries are actually related - the root, founding and the same teaching methods by Phra Ajaan Tong and his disciples. I felt very blessed as a lay person to benefits from the original Vispassana teaching from the Lord Buddha that has been preserved, practised and offered by these monasteries and the Shanga community. I would recommend you to come over to Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan, and be able to meet Phra Ajaan Art, the English speaking meditator for foreign students.

Stayed here for a month and feel really blessed for the opportunity to practice Vipassana and learn Dharma under the guidance of a real master, and to meet some amazing people. It was also great to take part in some events and to experience Buddhism in Thailand. The lay community that supports the temple is very inspiring. This is definitely one of the few places in the world I will keep going to whenever I need a spiritual recharge.

I recommend it with love. Mainly because of the good souls who voulenter there and the conditions that allow you to connect more strongly, to something deeper. I stayed there for 21 days and it was truly wonderful, but also challenging, especially towards the end when you are expected to meditate most of the day. However, they support you with any challenge or issue that arises, in a gentle and embracing way. So it is recommended to remove any fear you have. This place will take care of you :) . I want to give a big thank you to the wonderful Jirapa ❤️ who accompanied and cared for us throughout the period and of course also to the monk who sat with us and guided us during the period. Also, thank you to the good people at the monastery and to Thailand :) for making it possible to spread presence and raise consciousness in the world, in a way that I have not experienced anywhere else in the world yet 💛

I attended the international Vipassana meditation retreat here and this monastery has one of the best meditation programs i’ve been to - individualized daily meditation instructions and interview, complete amenities, and a supportive environment. The technique is very helpful and has helped me apply Vipassana in my daily life. Special thanks to my monk instructor, Phra Ajahn Art for the time and commitment in teaching me Vipassana and the wonderful life lessons, and to Phra Chotirat and Jirapa for being very welcoming and making sure that I had a great retreat experience. I would definitely recommend this to new or experienced meditators.

Wat Hua Wiang, located in Mae Hong Son city, is a significant temple housing the revered King Paralasak Buddha statue. The temple boasts stunning Burmese-style architecture and a remarkable wooden hall reminiscent of old European churches. Shan art features the Phra Chao Para Lakhang Shrine, a wooden building with a zinc roof. Inside, a Buddha image is enshrined. It was cast in Mandalay, Myanmar, and then divided into nine parts. It was then floated down the Salween River. It was then assembled at Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu and enshrined at Wat Hua Wiang, where it remains today. Tham Pla - Namtok Pha Suea National Park is a 511-sq.-km. park known for its lush forests, stunning waterfalls, and unique fish cave featuring a Rishi statue. The park's main attractions include the Tham Pla (Fish Cave) and the picturesque Pha Suea waterfall. The area boasts fertile forests that are the source of numerous streams and several famous waterfalls, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts.
Nice place to walk around. First time we were seeing fish going for leaves and walloping it down in a few seconds.

This was a very beautiful spot to stop to break up the drive. The price wasn't too expensive and they even have a local price for Thai people to visit.. The foreigner price is more expensive 🤪... The fish were beautiful to look at and feed. We sat down at the one of the shops for chicken.. It was nice that the shop owners were calm. The only thing is the chicken was stale and not very hot so I think the food could be improved a little for the price.. Otherwise definetly worth stopping still 😊🙏

The Fish Cave Park is a very friendly and beautiful place to visit. I was expecting the cave itself to be larger and more impressive, so it was a bit of a disappointment. Nevertheless, the park is peaceful and relaxing — a nice stop for a short break during your trip. The entrance fee is 100 THB for adults and 50 THB for children. At the entrance, you can also buy fish food (50 THB for three baskets). It’s fun for kids to feed the fish and enjoy the calm atmosphere.

Very beautiful and peaceful little park! Right of the side of the road and only 100bth to enter. Nice walking paths through serene nature and even took a quick swim in the river.

Not realy a cave but its a combo ticket with the waterfall i did earlyer that day. Go to the back of the beautifull jungle park, buy some food and feed the fish, go all the way to the back, there you can see the fish swimming in the cave below you. Great fun, think it would be a great thing to do with kids.
Bram U — Google review
Pay attention! I give 5 stars because you pay once for 3 place: fish cave, waterfall and park with rafting during a day. We didn't visit the last one and cashier couldn't explain included rafting in a ticket or not, so i don't know. But cave and waterfall are amazing! After waterfall in 5 km are small farm, you can visit it free
Maria A — Google review
I would not call it a cave more like two holes where the fishes eat your food your bring them. You can buy the food at the cave for 10 thb just put a 10 thb in the cup or you can buy at many places around the park or outside. Do not care about what people say the fish not it eat salad or the fish not eat fish food. Some fish are picky but there is plenty of fish and they eat mostly anything you give them. Its a 20 min walk before you reach the "cave" and you can feed fishes along the way as well. Thai 20 thb and Non Thai 200 THB however you can visit the waterfall with the same name and you can visit the park along the same route 4001 it is the same park. So if you planning to visit 3 places in one day it is worth the price. For fish cave alone i would not pay 200 THB. The staff is very friendly and can tell you where you can use the ticket more. If you want you can camp here as well but i see nobody did that but you can we asked.

Namtok Pha Suea, also known as Pha Sua Waterfall, is a captivating natural wonder located in the picturesque Pai District of Mae Hong Son, Thailand. The name 'Pha Sua' translates to tiger cliff in Thai, reflecting the waterfall's majestic allure. While it may be less impressive during dry seasons, after rainfall, it transforms into a breathtaking sight.
Touristy but it’s not too crowded actually. Everyone just snaps a photo and then leaves but it’s worth spending a while just listening to the sound. It’s a powerful waterfall even though it’s not big.

100 baht entry fee for foreigners, just to watch the waterfall from far away and take a picture. Better watch it from the car park... Pang Ung is closed, why didn't the park management reconsider adjust the prices then? Asking 5 times more the price than thr locals it is pure discrimination

Waterfall itself is nice, however you can't even get close to it.. Only view it from 200 meters away. It's a shame they charge 100 baht for that

Absolutely worth the ride! I went at around 4PM so it was completely free and the bathrooms were open. There were other people there hanging out. It's not that far off the loop and totally worth the ride. Not to mention the small villages you pass through and the amazing views and roads you take to get here. There is no hike to this waterfall but there are stairs down to it. Wear shoes and be safe! Signs say no swimming or smoking just fyi

The Thai-Japan Friendship Memorial Hall Khumyuam is a significant tourist attraction located in Khun Yuam, about 143 km south of Mae Hong Son. It offers a captivating insight into the town's history during World War Two and the impact of the Japanese invasion on the local community. The museum features well-presented exhibitions with artifacts, information, and relics from the period. Visitors can explore the area's population, history, and geography through informative displays available in both Thai and English.
Stopped there with no expectations but have been so impressed. I am not much into war but the whole display was really informative about Thai, Japanese relationship and local traditions. It’s a small muzeum but it will took us oven an hour to read through all the panels. The building itself is little bit sad, as every building in Thailand after one year, but the display itself is really modern and well put together. Highly recommended to stop!!

We stop by cause it was on our way and found it pretty interesting. It was along the way in our drive around the Mae Hong Son loop so we stopped by. The parking lot was empty so we decided to not to pay 100 baht to go inside. Thailand was Japan's strong ally during WWII and even up to now, the 2 countries have maintained strong ties. I like museums and learning about history but I did not feel the need to spend money here. Besides, we don't want to be on the road after sunset. If you have time, it might be worth your while to check out inside. But Google has provided great articles about Thai-Japan relationship as well.

All aigns have thai and a well worded english translation (i assume its a translation, as i dont know thai;) Entry fee was 100 i believe but i think it was worth it. Have a great day!!

Doi Pui Co is a stunning destination featuring the highest mountain in the park, Doi Pui, and the magnificent Mae Surin Waterfall. It's an ideal spot for camping or simply hanging out, with tent and blanket rentals available at the parking lot. Visitors can also hire a porter or bring their own tent for free entrance. The road to get there is challenging but doable with a motorbike, offering a thrilling ride through picturesque landscapes.
Visited in January 2025. Rode my adventure bike up and took a fall on the steep climb 3/4 way up and was getting dark. Not an early route for heavy bikes. Was lucky that there were locals descending and help me pick the bike up as it was impossible after a long ride and was tired moreover it a sloppy area. By the time I reach the parking lot it was already dark and no one was around. Luckily I came prepared with all my camping gears. Had to find my way in the dark and it was a 800 meters hike on a very steep climb. Half way there was a opening with a shade but no one was around. Was wondering if I should camp here or continue the climb. It was a great challenge and decided to continue up. It was a relief when I saw some lights at the top of the hill and there I was. Ask the campers if I could set my tent at any point and they said anywhere is ok. They even invited me to join them for dinner. That's the hospitality of the Thais. But I had my dinner packed. The wind was so strong that sounds like waves beating the shore. I had to secure my tent with extra ropes. Was very cold so do come with blanket or thick clothes. Work up early in the morning to watch the sunrise which was beautiful but no sea clouds as the wind was too strong and it's dry season. The next morning I hired a porter to help me bring my gears down and lucky for me the locals who are going down on a pickup waited for me to follow them down in case I should drop my bike again. It was worth all the hard work and such an adventure especially when one is traveling solo. You could hire a pick up from the foot of the hill which will cost 1000 baht one way if I'm not wrong. One can drive their own vehicle up but can be steep an uneven gravel road.
Stephen L — Google review
An awesome place to visit with great views over the mountains and valley’s surrounding. Entry fee is only 20 THB per person. The last section is walking and takes about 30 to 40 minutes and is up hill all the way. The parking area can be a little tricky to get to, you have 2 options: 1, The Quickest route involves 40 minutes on a dirt track with some concrete sections, it’s not difficult, you do not need a 4 wheel drive and we saw many normal saloons doing this trip, but some areas are very rough and you do need to be very careful. 2, There is a route which is shorter but very rough and challenging, for this you do definitely need a 4 wheel drive and need to be confident in your abilities, the track is very narrow and washed out in places. We did it in a Ranger and it took us 3 hours.
Kevin G — Google review
Nice place to explore, from 180m to 1150m, 25 degrees Celsius to 20°C. Pass by villages, trees, and beautiful view. 4 wheel car is able to reach the top. Very exciting and adventurous trip, good driving skill needed. Highly recommended 🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭👍👍👍

Do not go by bike. The first part was good, but the last 7km is sand and rocks. Maybe if you have a dirtbike it is possible, but with a regular one it's a no go. The first part is fun to ride and you can still get beautiful views
Sem B — Google review
If you ride a motorbike, you will have a wonderful time riding to the mountain. About 60% of the way is paved, the rest is dirt/gravel. Nice curves going up and up. I went during the rainy season, so I got stuck at the bottom of the hike for 2 hours. The hike takes about 30 minutes and is very steep and slippery. Unfortunately, the summit was in a constant big cloud so I couldn't enjoy the view. Simply for the bike ride I give 4 stars. Also, despite the rain, the dirt/gravel road held well and no problems at all on the way back.
Mick R — Google review
Beautiful view and hike. The summit is quite dirty but it's still beautiful. Super easy hike only less than one kilometer. The road up is quite rough definitely need a four wheel drive.
Snook C — Google review
Very cool spot to camp or hangout. You can rent a tent and blankets for 300 bahts at the parking lot. You can hire a porter for 200 bahts he will carry a maximum of about 20kg You can also bring your own tent and it's free entrance. The view point is great and takes about 35 minutes if you maintain a regular pace. The road to get there is doable with a motorbike, example Honda wave or any other bigger bike, but it's not the easier road to travel on. Only Thai people hangout there and everyone is friendly. Good luck and enjoy the location.

Huay Pu Keng, also known as the Kayan Village, is located in Mae Hong Son and is home to the Kayan people, particularly known for the women with long necks adorned with brass rings. This village offers visitors the opportunity to interact with the locals, take photos with the long-necked women, and purchase affordable souvenirs directly from the community. The village aims to empower its residents through tourism and cultural exchange.
This is 100% legit Kayan village which has kindly opened their doors to tourists visiting. The village has 300 inhabitants, of varieties of Kayan women (long neck, white, red) and men. They have created a small walking street as you exit the boat where many long neck women will show and sell their local crafts. We saw about 6 long-neck women. We asked respectfully if we could take their picture which they were happy with. We also bought crafts from their stalls as well and bought a soda from their small shop. As soon as you walk away from the craft street you can see this is a village with lots of local people living there wearing other traditional clothing and going about their daily lives. We spent approximately 45min-1hr visiting the village and walking around. It costs 200 baht per person to visit the village and an additional 20 baht per person for the very short boat ride to cross the river to the village. You will get a ticket receipt. This is not a lot of money but makes a huge difference to their beautiful community.
Sarah A — Google review
We stayed in this village overnight and definitely recommend to visit it. There is an entrance fee - money that goes to fund this community (the village is self-administrated), so it's actually good that they are empowered to manage their tourism unlike the human zoos around Chiang Mai. This village is actually lively and people live normally (when we visited, there was a multi-day football tournament going on, with other people from nearby villages coming in too!) There is also a common misconception that this village is karen long-neck only, which is not - there are also white karen, red karen, karen big ears and some shan, which is the way Karen people have always lived, even better if you are interested to discover different tribes and cultures. We got to discuss with some of the Karens in the village, very warm and welcoming people that can speak English. If you wish to stay there, ideally contact a homestay a bit before, but you can also ask around on site (which we did). Most handictafts are handmade by the women of the village, hence great souvenirs.

I’m giving this 2 stars because the boatman managed to find a cold beer otherwise it would have been zero. The whole experience left us feeling used and abused. 480bt just to enter the village for two of us. then we were told that for a dirty room in a house with barely a mattress on the floor it was 500bt plus an extra 200bt for breakfast - no dinner no electricity no pillows no towels no shower. Seriously? I’m not sure about the other reviews but the whole thing felt like a blatant tourist rip off. Save your money and time for somewhere more authentic.
Alex B — Google review
We had a great time visiting this village. It felt very authentic, the people were super friendly. We bought some souvenirs from their stalls and had lovely interactions. It didn't feel like a people zoo at all. This visit felt very different from an aerlier visit to another 'longneck' village near Chiang Rai in the past. The hotel owner where we stayed in Mae Hong Son, explained that all the profits go to the community of the village itself. After the main street we visited the rest of the village. It was interesting to see how they live and it didn't feel intrusive, everybody was just going about their business. You pay 200 baht per person + 20 baht for crossing the river in a boat (they have safety vests). Totally recommend going here when you are in Mae Hong Son.
S. S — Google review
There are actually 2 ways to get here… 1) Boat ride from “Huai Dua boat port” pier (refer to google map). The boat accommodates up to 6 people and it costs 800 THB to the village and return back to the pier. It costs 800 THB even if you go alone. It takes 20 minutes each way. Do look out for the sign to this pier when you are on the main road. 2) Look for the sign on the main road that indicates you have to make a turn to go to the village directly. Upon reaching , you will need to take a short boat ride across the shore to the other side where the village is located. The entrance fee is 200 THB and 20 THB boat ride fee. The main “tourist street” with stalls selling about the same things is only about 300m long. You can also wear the fake half gold rings on your neck and take photos with the long neck women. You can also walk down from the “tourist street” to look at their school, church and badminton court. There is no internet signal inside the village unless you use AIS which may give you 2 bars at most
Live L — Google review
This place gets mixed reviews. This is not a fake “tourist” village, the women don’t fake wearing the brass rings, these people are not zoo animals and nobody is being exploited. This is an ethnic Karen village, they still use the Karenni language and practice their traditions 35 years after fleeing Myanmar. The longnecked ladies are mostly older women who sell crafts and pose for photos, they are friendly and warm and there is little pressure to buy anything. These are relatively poor people who farm and produce products from available materials. The village has a school, a small clinic and a church. There were a few other visitors when we were there, limited English in the village. You have to take a 1 minute boat ride across the Pai Rover which is 20 Baht round trip and pay 200 Baht to visit the village. The money goes to the village! You can purchase handicrafts or not, there is also a small noodle shop at the entrance to the village. You can also trek in the area to cave. The village itself can be covered in 1/2 hour

This is a wonderful place. My advice is to put aside any notion of ‘tourist trap’ and speak to the people that call this home. Unless they are a group of very good actors, it is humbling and a privilege to support. 30 second boat crossing, 220THB all-in.

Pang Tong Palace, located in Mae Hong Son Province, is a unique destination offering a variety of attractions. The palace grounds feature colorful gardens, greenhouse farms with various vegetables and orchids, as well as grazing areas for sheep and lambs. Visitors can also explore the small zoo housing clouded leopards, golden Asiatic cats, hornbills, horses, and deer.
Nice place looks amazing here for cute animals

Came here to see some animals, there is lots to see and it feels like we are in Australia, horses, sheep are near the roads, others you have to park and walk, end of the road is helipad for royalty to visit, as its a project for them. Tips: entry is free, drive is steep and one point, don't go in a 1.2litre car.
Chephren C — Google review
It's an interesting place, more of an agricultural learning center than palace. Really cool to see the local fauna and flower exhibits though. They also have a few horses and it looks like they're breeding sheep, which was random. I guess the previous King of Thailand really liked sheep.
Mervin C — Google review
Even this place is a palace but many projects for helping local people located here. There are gardens, farms, open zoo and green houses for an experiment. The front garden, sheeps farm(take a picture with a little lamb in your hug), wool products are an attraction and also the house which calls "palace".

Quite steep road leads up here. Interesting sheep project. Some deer, too.

Pang Tong Palace has a lot of test beds for vegetables. I saw squash, strawberries, lettuce, peppers, and other things. Interestungly, there was a spherical squash that was trellised. The orchid greenhouse has many variety of orchids. My favorite part is the sheep and very cute lambs and especially the very young lambs. It is peaceful with not many people.

The Phraya Singhanatracha Monument is a small but significant statue located at the entrance of Mae Hong Son. It commemorates the first governor of the city, Phraya Singhanatracha, who was known for his hard work and loyalty to his people. The monument is situated at the foot of Doi Kong Mu and holds historical significance as it tells the story of the city's founder. Visitors often pay their respects by offering flowers and incense at this prominent site.
Lovely resort in the jungle with lovely little houses surrounded by nature. If there were some suggestions I'd suggest updating the bathrooms and maybe have the full menu of fern restaurant during covid times as delivery. The food was good there with a nice choice. Breakfast here was nice.

A lovely statue in a prominent place with people praying and placing flowers and incense. No info in English so I checked on Google to know more: " Situated at the foot of Doi Kong Mu, this monument commemorates the first governor of Mae Hong Son. Phraya Singhanatracha is a Thai Yai native from Burma (Myanmar). He was regarded by the people as the governor of Khun Yuam Town, which was to the south of Mae Hong Son. Later, he was officially installed as the governor of Mae Hong Son by the King of Lanna in 1874."

If you want to know about the story of the city and its founder you can read in English and Thai here. It has good information about the man who was hard working and loyal to his people. If you lazy to travel you can just read the info on the picture here below. Free entrance, plenty of parking and open 24 hours. Bring some flowers and show some respect of this great man.

The Living Museum is a small but charming exhibition located in an old wooden house at the town center. It offers insights into the culture, history, ethnic groups, and architecture of the area through pictures and artifacts. While some exhibits may not have English explanations, it's still worth a visit as it provides a better understanding of the town's history and wider area. The museum also offers free entry with an option to make donations and occasionally hosts traditional music nights.
Cute little museum and I learned a lot thanks to Google Lens to translate the Thai to English. I absolutely loved learning about the MHS area and people and history. I only wish this museum was bigger with more things and pictures. Small gift shop. Free entry but you can make a donation in the donation box. When I was there they had traditional music night. Lucky me!
Brooke G — Google review
It's a very small but informative museum on the local tribes of the province (max 30 min to visit is sufficient). Entrance is free but most explanations are in Thai only so you need to use a camera translator.

A nice museum displaying the history of the town. Lots of photos, some statues of Shan people in traditional dress, etc. It would be much better if more of the explanations were in English but it is free to enter so one can’t complain too much. A good visit for getting a better sense of the history of the town and wider area.

Situated in a traditional wooden house, this museum shows exhibits of local life and culture. Additionally, there is a city map showing all the historical wooden buildings nearby - you might want to take a walk there after your museum visit! Free entry.

Night market
Pai Walking Street, situated along Chaisongkran Road and the northern end of Rungsiyanon Road in Pai, Thailand, is a vibrant night market that comes alive after sunset. The street is adorned with colorful hanging lanterns and offers a wide variety of products such as clothing, accessories, postcards, jewelry, handicrafts, and original works of art by local artists.
Walking street is a peaceful ghost town during the day but at night it comes alive. The night market is open every night. In the off season I found it busier during the week than weekends. The vendors are friendly and chill —you might even find some drunken by the end of the night and give you a free meal (happened to me) Don’t forget to walk until the bamboo bridge and cross the river during sunset. It’s lovely. You can find good clothing deals and vegan, gluten free street foods too! My favorite stalls are the grilled pork lady, shampoo nachos, queens gyoza, Fah homemade chicken wrap, and fresh spring rolls! Yum. Oh! And the fried spicy squid stall on the corner (she also makes an excellent coconut smoothie !)
Brittany B — Google review
Great food, great vibes 💯 This night market, like all other night markets in Thailand offers an array of shops and stalls selling clothes, jewellery, food, drinks, and snacks. The snacks looked good and I wished I could try all of them. I’d suggest everyone to walk around the entire place and try as many street food as you can. There are several halal options. We had gyoza/dumplings from a halal stall and it was so delicious! I had to urgently buy some clothes and the shop I was in was about to close but they didn’t rush me and helped me every way they could. It was really touching. I think most clothing stores close by 10 pm. The place got quieter around 11:30 pm except for the loud parties going on in the bars.
Tahmina B — Google review
Pai Walking Street is truly one of the best experiences in Pai and should not be missed if you are visiting this small mountain town. Every evening the street comes alive with a vibrant atmosphere full of lights, music, and delicious smells from all directions. You can find everything here: from small bars with chilled vibes, restaurants serving both Thai and international dishes, to countless street food stalls offering tasty snacks and meals at very affordable prices. The variety of food is impressive. You can enjoy authentic Thai dishes, fresh smoothies, vegetarian and vegan options, and even Western treats if you are craving something different. Street musicians and performers create a lively soundtrack as you walk, adding to the charm of the night. The relaxed climate in Pai makes it comfortable to stroll for hours without feeling rushed. What I love most is the mix of people and energy. Locals, backpackers, and travelers from all over the world gather here, giving the street a friendly and international vibe while still keeping that small-town charm. Prices are reasonable, so you can eat, drink, shop for souvenirs, and enjoy live entertainment without spending too much. Overall, Pai Walking Street perfectly captures the laid-back yet lively spirit of Pai
Isuru J — Google review
A really nice walking street compared to the more chaotic ones, street vendors friendly and not too in your face and really good food! Strongly recommend the chips from the shawarma stand on the less busy end of the street, homemade sauce is to die for!!

Its the place to go if your new to Pai, especially if your young. We are older but still liked the vibe on the main street had and down some of the side streets. There is a distinct herby smell in the air and it's definitely not earl grey tea !!! 🤣🌿🌿 after all few drinks my wife and I had some intense games of connect 4, whilst listening to some Pink Floyd....walking cliché I know but it's all good in the hood.....🤘

Sai Ngam hot spring is a serene nature preserve enveloped by trees, offering an array of thermal baths and natural mud masks. The warm and clean waters come in different temperatures that provide relaxation for the body. Visitors can enjoy the dramatic steam which is more pronounced during cooler hours. Access to the site costs 200 baht but it's worth it for the delightful experience.
The water are so nice and the surrounding is so relaxing. No smell of sulfur, just warm clear water. Ther's some green algae, but it doesn't damage the clarity of the water. The more people are there with you is the less you can enjoy the place. Nice place for taking beautiful photos...
Shy G — Google review
For starters you will have to pay a National Park entry fee to get to these hot springs which is 30 Baht for Thais and 400 Baht for foreigners and then 30 Baht for a bike or 60 baht for a car to enter. There is not much at the hot springs themselves apart from a small street store serving coffee and snacks and toilets where you can have a cold shower or use the toilet but remember always bring your own toilet paper as there is never any at these places. The hot springs are nice and warm to swim in but a little uncomfortable with the pebbles flooring of the hot springs. Though it has comfortable chairs to sit on and a lot of places just to relax in the atmosphere. You will be required to carry cash on you as there is no ATM here. Also you will need a car or bike to get here as way too far to walk here from Pai town centred. The water is quite shallow but enough to just lay in and relax. I would say bring snacks and your own food to the place for a picnic rather than relying on what is for sale here. We shopped at a 7/11 on the way here. It was nice to relax in overall. I gave it 3 star as I felt the entry fee was overpriced for foreigners when most national parks in Thailand charge 200 Baht. But I guess if it’s for maintaining the park overall it’s okay. I also note they seem to be upgrading some of the facilities at the hot springs.
GREGORY E — Google review
This place is nice but NOT worth the route to get to it!!! It’s all nice and smooth until you get to the gate. It costs 200 to enter and then it’s a 7 min drive up and down slopes. My motorbike almost didn’t make it all the way up one of them. I was actually terrified to leave because of how many steep slopes I went down, I was worried how I’d come up. However to my surprise, the ride back was a lot smoother. Still worth it? I don’t think so. The ones closer to town are bigger and hotter. So this one looks nice but it’s just 3 bodies of water connected by mini waterfalls. So it looks really pretty. But it’s very shallow. All rocks. And just not worth it! I tried to go explore the ends of it and it was just so muddy and nasty to touch of my feet: almost like quick sand. They do have little food stalls right outside tho. And food was good. But no, never again.
Rasha M — Google review
Very nice place! There are three different pools, each with water about 50–60 cm deep — perfect for children. The water flow is gentle, so you can even enjoy a natural “water massage” by leaning back where the streams meet. The temperature is mild, around 30°C — not too hot, refreshing, and relaxing at the same time. It’s a great spot to visit even on a rainy day 😊. We stayed for more than two hours and really enjoyed it. Entrance fee: 200 THB for adults, and 60 THB for the car. Important note: If you come by motorbike, be extra careful on rainy days — the access road can get slippery and requires basic riding skills to handle safely.
Rave G — Google review
Went on Tuesday morning and owned the whole place before vans of tourists arrived around 10 a.m. Water wasn't hot but I personally prefer this place compared to Ta Pai Hot Spring.

Really good spot in Pai and one of our favourites! Not as warm as we expected and we visited this during a full day tour which was even better as we missed the crowds. There changing rooms and bathrooms facilities as well if need be
Max S — Google review
The place is absolutely magical! The water is warm and relaxing, perfect for a peaceful break in nature. The site is well-organized, with changing rooms, toilets, and a large parking area. Just note that getting there can be a bit challenging if you’re riding a scooter or motorcycle with a lot of weight — for example, two people on one bike, especially on the uphill sections. Overall, a beautiful and relaxing experience. Definitely worth a visit!
Omer K — Google review
There is a good road to the springs with the steep hills and bends akin to the area. A moderate pool on 3 levels awaits with natural steam and is swim-able. It’s a small area and good to spend 30 minutes or so.

Santichon Village, also known as Pai Chinese Village, is a replica village that offers a glimpse into the traditional Chinese way of life. Initially established as a refuge for those fleeing the Mao regime, it now features traditional buildings and various shops selling Chinese tea, herbal remedies, and cultural items. Visitors can enjoy pony rides and take a spin on the rustic Ferris wheel while exploring artisanal souvenirs.
Cute, peaceful, very well maintained little Chinese village located in the outskirts of Pai. We came early in the morning on a low season day and we had all the place for us. Kind welcoming locals and very cute horses and cats around. Souvenirs and food prices are very convenient too. Admission fee: 20 baht.

Nice little getaway from the hectic town.. lots of shops selling local snacks, free samples, wines, etc. - funny thing yesterday, all the wine they sell here are much cheaper than the prices they charge at sunset view (350 a bottle / 600 for 2). In the Chinese village it's 250 a bottle / 400 for 2.. and they have way more selection. You can taste before you buy , unlike the view point place I went to yesterday. The girl at the shop gave me lots of samples lol Snacks here are also very good price compared to other places. This place also has archery, shooting, etc., However I don't recommend riding the horse. The animals are exploited for tourism.. charging 50 per ride, don't support such abuse, and for that I will take off 1+ point. From what I read the people here are ethnic Chinese from Yunnan in China, they provide for themselves as they do not have Thai citizenship but refugee status, and need permission to leave the province. I recommend checking it out as you will be helping out the villagers.. and they are not as greedy for money as other tourist places here in Pai.. heck, they don't even charge a entrance fee here. And the food is cheap compared to other places (see the wine part I wrote above).

A peaceful little village not too far away from Pai. There’s are little shops and cafes here which are very reasonably priced. The shop owners are very friendly and kind and offer lots samples before you buy. There are also activities such as archery, BB gun shooting and a large swing, again reasonably priced. It is free to enter and walk around, if you want to climb the castle it is a 20baht maintenance fee. If you are in Pai with transport and looking to kill an hour, I would recommend visiting.

Cute little village to walk around. Unsure if this was because we visited during low season but it was free to walk round the grounds, only 10 baht for a photo in some of the chairs or 20 baht to go up into the castle area, which we didn’t do. Nice cafes and shops. Worth a stop by on the way to the viewpoint like we did.

You have to try the 4 person swing here, this was a highlight of our day - only 25baht per person to ride it. The rest of the village is so beautiful, the staff were all so friendly and welcoming - we even got to do free tea tasting! Such a fun little stop on our tour :)

Wat Nam Hu, a compact Buddhist temple in Mae Hong Son Province, is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere and picturesque surroundings. Although it may not boast elaborate architecture or breathtaking views like other temples in the country, it holds great significance for Buddhists as a place of pilgrimage. Within its walls rests a hollow bronze statue of the Buddha that once had water flowing through its head, believed to possess healing properties.
We had the most fun at this temple feeding and playing with the hungry chickens. They are so obedient, waiting for us to feed. We spent an hour there. There are hardly any tourists there. Also, you can hop over to the pond to feed the fishes too. They are very hungry. Overall, the feel of the temple is wonderful. Should drop by if one has the time.

Quiet temple with a fish pond and chickens to feed. There are two churches (one in the back) and two different styles of Buddha statues. I like the one in the back made from wood with gold accents. There is also a monument to King Naresuan near the pond. The chickens are in reference to that monument.

It is a popular stop for travelers between Pai and Mae Hong Son, especially during the winter season when misty mornings and cool temperatures create a magical atmosphere. The viewpoint is particularly stunning at sunset and often features local hill tribe stalls selling food and handicrafts in December and early January.
This place is a long windy drive to the top of the hill but it has a lookout on both sides of the highway and each of them are great in their own rights! I recommend getting here before sunset so you can watch it

Hot Springs & Geysers
Pha Bong Hot Spring is a hidden gem just a short drive away from Mae Hong Son City. It's not as popular as other hot springs in Thailand, but that's what makes it special. The main pool has hot sulfur water, and there's also a private pool and rooms for rent if you prefer more privacy. While the facilities may be a bit rustic, the experience is definitely worth it.
Amazing place! Free pool with locals only. Amazing temperature and chill environment. The pool is not the most clean, but after several kilometres on the loop, it's amazing, and you can just take a bath afterwards.
Maria L — Google review
It's far from a luxury experience, but it's good enough to stop and soak for an hour. The free area for soaking the feet is really small, the public pool costs 30 TBH, and private baths start from 50 TBH. They also offer massage (150 TBH for 1h). I first stopped by in the middle of the day, but it was way too hot here as there is no shade. I retured in the evening for a private bath. The baths are run down and not particularly clean, but the water is hot. I had my own towel, not sure if they provide that. If you stop by in the evening, be aware that the pool is full of local kids.
Antonija M — Google review
30 Baht will get you access to the warm pool, it was a nice quick swim but it was poorly maintained. Broken ladders and a decomposing shed next to it. Bathrooms had broken equipment and definitely could use some maintenance. As for the hot springs, the main area was leaking, weeds overgrown and foot baths were mouldy and boiling hot. I was here during off-season but, this place has definitely seen better days. Good spot for a quick swim but it felt a bit gross.
Trystan C — Google review
The place is still closed but beautiful. I recommend to call before you come cause probably the swimming pool still closed even putting our legs water does not seems like an option.
Noam N — Google review
Time to renovate … But if you love hot spring and swimming pool worth it. Here is like a public park. If you just dip your feet are free of charge. The private individual room costs 50 baht and big room costs 300 baht. The highlight is the swimming pool with hot spring water costs only 20 baht per person. You cab also find a massage service which cost 150-200 baht. In general, here is clean but just need a huge renovation. Most of the people who visit here is a local. The private room gives a aged baht and not a nice surrounding but yeah 50 baht. You can have a direct new hot spring water and stay as long as you can, even you can go out from the room and come back again. The hot spring pool is good and relaxing. However, it will be warm only when the officer open the new water in, otherwise it ll be like almost normal temperature water. Massage is standard. Nothing fancy.
Nuchnalin L — Google review
Great that the foot spa is free. Definitely makes it worth stopping at on the way through.
Nathan H — Google review
Oha Bong Hot Spring in Maehongson is a disappointing and frustrating experience for visitors. Despite the complex appearing to be a professional-grade hot spring facility, the reality is quite different. The main issue is that the majority of the hot spring amenities are currently closed and inaccessible to the public. This includes the private rooms with in-room hot spring bathtubs, which are not functioning due to issues with the piping system. The only part of the facility that remains open is a small area for foot soaking in the hot spring water. However, even this is less than ideal, as the water is reportedly very hard and mineral-rich, making it unsuitable for full-body immersion. For visitors who have traveled a long distance to reach Pha Bong Hot Spring, this is an incredibly frustrating and unsatisfying experience. The facility does not provide the full hot spring experience that one would expect, given its appearance and marketing as a prominent cultural and tourist attraction in the region. It's unclear when the full facility will reopen and the hot spring amenities become accessible again. Until then, Pha Bong Hot Spring cannot be recommended as a worthwhile destination for hot spring enthusiasts or travelers. The closure of the majority of the complex is a major disappointment and a waste of time and effort for those who made the journey here. Overall, Pha Bong Hot Spring is a hot spring facility that is currently a shadow of its former self, with only the most basic foot soaking option available. Unless you happen to be in the immediate area and just want to briefly dip your feet, it's best to avoid visiting Pha Bong Hot Spring until the full complex is restored and reopened.

At the time of writing (November 25th), the place looks extremely run-down, though not closed (as it probably should be). We drove here from Mae Hong Son and were pretty disappointed to find out that the facilities are not only basic, but also very dirty. The pool is closed. I believe they’re emptying it to clean it, as it does need a good scrub. The foot soak stream is muddy and full of leaves, while there are spiderwebs hanging from the bathrooms’ walls. We saw one staff member, who did not approach us. All in all, a waste of time and gas.

Doi Inthanon National Park is a popular destination in Thailand, offering scenic trails, pagodas near the summit, and beautiful waterfalls. It is known for its natural beauty and is home to the highest point in Thailand. The park features Buddhist temples, hot springs, and various sights and activities. Visitors can enjoy the chilly mountain air at the highest point in Chiang Mai while taking in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Beautiful waterfalls, pagodas, karen Village and highest point in Thailand. We took a tour from Chiang Mai which was nice so the guide could explain everything. Bring a raincoat and good walking shoes as some of the falls spray and it can rain at the top! Definitely worth it!

Doi Inthanon National Park is a must-visit! We had an incredible day here — the weather shifted from clear skies to clouds, and both views were absolutely spectacular in their own way. The twin temples at the summit were stunning, and there’s even a little coffee shop with a top floor that offered beautiful views. This was the only time in Thailand that I actually felt chilly, and it was such a refreshing break to enjoy the cool air for a few hours. We also stopped at a small village where we learned how scarves and clothes are made and had a delicious dinner. Having a guide made the experience even better — we learned so much about the local people, culture, and history. Highly recommend visiting with a guide if you can!

Doi Inthanon National Park is exceptionally well maintained. The paths, gardens, and viewing areas are clean, clearly marked, and well cared for. You can tell there’s consistent upkeep—no trash, no overgrown trails, and facilities are in good condition. The atmosphere is serene. As you climb higher, the air cools and everything slows down. The park often sits above the cloud line, so you’re surrounded by mist and drifting clouds that give it an almost otherworldly calm. It’s quiet, peaceful, and feels far removed from city noise. The combination of clean, orderly grounds and the natural beauty of the mountains makes it an ideal place to slow down, walk, and take in the scenery. It’s one of those rare spots where human care and nature work in harmony.

Great and large national park. We came for birdwatching. Perhaps October not the best month but we did manage to see a lot of new birds since we are not from Thailand. The summit was sunny for a short while before 10 am. Better to come before all the tour busses arrive from Chiang Mai as of 10.30 am. The walking path past the summit was closed until October 30. We did manage to spot birds at that parking spot. It's just passed the official parking for the temples. Tickets for the park are 300 baht and a car costs 30 baht. Valid for 5 days.

I rented a bike the day before (250 baht) n I set off from town 5 plus in morning . Is end Oct 2025.. a little chilly on the way. Easy to navigate using Google map. Can drink n eat along the way .. many petrol kiosks. small eateries etc Entrance is 300 baht n 20 for the motorbike . Was 11 degrees celcius when I was at the peak. (About 7am) … chilly but good to soak up the sun . Went for one of the nature trail at the peak which a memorial site for soldier ((?)) was erected . I swept the area clean with the broom … to make the devas, spirits n animals happy . Went to one of the waterfall .. Just ok Cannot dip Just see As I rode down the Doi .. , I went to the ticket office originally to use the toilet but I heard water … there’s a river flowing .. water probably from the waterfalls up there … Waterfalls or rivers or rain or whatever … aren’t they all the same ? we people attached a name to form(rupa) Anyway I changed into a short n enjoyed the cold water under the hot sun . Passed by a beautiful temple n turned in to pay respect to Buddha There’s a jade Buddha statue in main hall. 2 price system for locals n foreigners .!!! is it worth 300 baht ? Is a very well managed park Perhaps too well managed with steps etc (Isn’t it supposed to be back to nature ?) I did enjoy my time here Perhaps the authority can really look into dual pricing system n the (probably hefty)300 baht ??

The drive up is half the fun. You go from warm jungle to misty pine forest in under an hour. It kind of feels like traveling through biomes in a video game — jungle, waterfall, forest, temple, another waterfall, cloud kingdom. At the top there’s a sign that says “Highest Point in Thailand” and everyone’s taking the same photo like they just reached the summit of Olympus. It’s cute. But that’s not why you’re here. It's about the Queen and King Pagodas baby. Very pointy and gorgeous. Add in the gardens and crawling fog, and its a metaphorically and literal cool experience.

Namtok Mae Surin National Park is a stunning natural destination in northern Thailand, near the border with Myanmar. The park features Doi Pui, the highest mountain reaching 1,700 meters and the magnificent Mae Surin Waterfall, one of Thailand's tallest single-tier waterfalls. The area is also home to diverse hill tribes such as Shan and Hmong. Visitors can explore the remote and mountainous province of Mae Hong Son, which serves as a gateway to the region's hills.
Beautiful reservoir and location. Don't think about swimming though, there are snakes! Free entrance.

Mae Hong Son is a remote, mountainous province in northern Thailand, bordering Myanmar (Burma). Though sparsely populated, it's ethnically diverse and home to hill tribes such as the Shan and Hmong. The capital, also called Mae Hong Son, is a gateway to the region's hills. It's overlooked by Wat Phrathat Doi Kongmu, a Burmese-style monastery with 2 ornate white chedis (stupas) built in the 19th century.

As day turns to night, the area transforms into a vibrant night market where you can savor delicious Thai dishes like grilled Tilapia with fresh papaya salad or indulge in classic favorites such as pad thai and grilled meats.
Stopped here on MaeHongSon loop. What a lovely quiet Thai town. Not much to do in the town but that's the point. The temple was fantastic at night time and a wee walk around the lake before returning to hotel.

A small public night market at Mae Hong Son. We loved the grilled Tilapia fish with fresh papaya salad. I love the setting of the place where we get to eat beside the Chong Kham lake. There are several Thai cuisine you can choose from, like grilled pork, chicken, pad thai and other noodles, sweets and fruits. You can also buy souvenir items there, like traditional clothes, accessories and shirts. A good place to go to and experience Mae Hong Son at night.

Tham Kaeo Komon Forest Park, also known as Kaeo Komon Cave, is a stunning natural attraction located in Mae La Noi, Mae Hong Son, Thailand. The cave was accidentally discovered by a mining engineer in 1993 and features a 120m long calcite crystal cave with an underground depth of 30m.
This is an amazing place. Definitely a must visit. When you arrive at the parking place, you can leave your car there and they will drive you up. The ticket for the cave is 80 baht ( too cheap, should be even more expensive IMO) and it includes the ride up and down. We were the only ones inside the cave. You will have 20 minutes to look around inside the cave. It is quite massive and the crystals look pretty.

'Tham Kaeo Komon Forest Park' or 'Kaeo Komon Cave' (ถ้ำแก้วโกมล) is located in Mae La Noi, Mae Hong Son (drove 30km along highway No.108 from Mae Sariang to Mae La Noi, the roads towards Khan Yuan-Mae Hong Son). The cave is situated in the Forest Park 6km from the main road Kaeo Komon Cave is a calcite crytal cave (carbonate mineral) that was coincidentally found by the mining engineer in 1993. The pure calcite crytal cave recently found only in China, Thailand and Australia. The calcite snowflake-like cave formation is quite rare in nature The close cave was 120m long and 30m underground depth, entrance and exit the same way. Low breathing air inside, so that they only allow maximum 15-20 person per visit with the tour guide. The cave separated into 5 chambers, as to be said, the last chamber is the most beautiful and has the purest formation, the least effected from the bomb ‍ Caution: The air and space inside was quite limit, beware of your own safety especially those who have a breathing problem ‍ (Entrance Fee Child 20THB / Adult 40THB, Open Daily 08.30 - 16.30)

Arie A — Google review
Amazing unique cave, very well preserved for Thai standard. No photo taken allowed in the cave. This spot is the actual cave but you need to park at the ticket office at the bottom of the mountain and catch the renger's 4x4 up here. You cannot drive up here, the road is absolutely crazy, it would be suicidal in wet weather, bad road covered in moss. Take the renger's truck. Enjoy this cave, probably the best cave in Thailand for crystal formations (not size, it's a tiny cave).
Patrick T — Google review
This place is located in the middle of nowhere. A little difficult to find the entrance if you are driving by yourself. Entry fee for foreigners is around 80 baht. Worth the fee. Wat Phrathat Chom Mon is a serene temple located in the northern part of Mae Sariang, offering a picturesque viewpoint of the town from across the river. The temple's establishment year is uncertain, but it is believed to have been built during the reign of King Saenmuang. Initially an abandoned monk house, it was later renovated and legally recognized as a temple. Visitors can embark on a scenic 3.
Came here mid day expecting to see a crowded temple like the other popular ones. To my surprise I was the only one at the temple for a while. When you drive in the gate you can continue straight to drive to the top or you can park and walk up the stairs to the left. The stairs were mossy and winded through a nice forest before making it to the top. I would recommend this because the view feels more rewarding after giving a little effort. Panoramic views of the mountains and town. Very nice for a relaxing evening

One will find pagoda mostly on top of the hills or Moutain in Asia especially in Myanmar and Thailand. The view is nice and stunning.
HT H — Google review
There isn’t any legend that can tell the exact establishment year of the temple. However, it was probably built in the period of King Saenmuang, the 7th king of Chiang Mai. At first, Wat Phrathat Chom Mon was only an ordinary monk house and an abandonded temple. Later, some monks from other temple traveled to Wat Phrathat Chom Mon to stay there during the Buddhist Lent. From then on, the temple has been renovated and re-decorated. Finally, it became a temple legally. Nowadays, it looks quite beautiful. In fact, Wat Phrathat Chom Mon is also known as ‘Wat Pho Mho Lo’, called by villagers. The architectures at Wat Phrathat Chom Mon are mostly Chinese, Thai, and Lanna. These are interesting contemporary artworks. You should love this. Get your camera ready, wander around, and take a lot of photos. All architectures are neat and beautiful. There are sculptures on the ubosot, Naga statues as handrails, statues of Chinese god and goddess, Buddha statues, and so on. The area around Wat Phra That Chom Mon is a community of Karen people. You may want to take a look. That’s find. If you see any of them, just say ‘hello’ to them and try to make a friendly conversation. Don’t be awkward

As visitors ascend, they experience a drop in temperature and are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views at the top.
Beautiful and Isolated . Worth short trip up. Extra care with all the turns and curves- road is narrow. Nice and simple people
Noam L — Google review
We decided to detour from the main highway to this Hmong Village. This is not a tourist spot. We just wanted to drive by. The road is surrounded by tall trees so the road was shaded and the wind was cool. The road going up is narrow and asphalt. It was enjoyable for the first 10minutes, it got steeper and windy. It's a one lane road and cars/motorcycle coming from the village drove a bit faster going downhill, though there's only a few. The Hmong village is small, probably fewer than a hundred families but they have electricity, cable satellites, nice concrete homes and a lot of pick up trucks. We got ice cream from the nearest store and the lady there was full of smiles, warm and accommodating. It was afternoon when we arrived and there's a group of kids playing in the streets. One asked me for "chocolate" but I only have a pack of mints which they still enjoyed. We walked around for a bit and asked the lady at the store where we can gas up (via Google translate). There's a house selling gas nearby. If you are interested to see the tribes, it's worth a visit. For us, it was impressive to see how Thailand is making sure that everyone gets access to the basic regardless of where they live.
Belle — Google review
It's a semi interesting place to visit. The Hmong village is not much. The views from the mountain are nice. Sadly by late January the smog from the field burning is already obscuring the views. If you injury driving/riding small mountain roads could be worth a visit, otherwise probably not. -- There is a camp ground just past the towers. It was not open when I visited and it was difficult to tell if it was permanete or not.
Greg R — Google review
The ride up to this village is along a narrow mountain route and trucks tend to high-tail past, so I was kept on my toes whilst riding up. Approximately 600 Hmong occupy the village and live their lives in fairly simple traditional ways. Mostly the area is farming territory and a variety of plants are grown, such as carrots, cabbages, and tomatoes.

It is ~800m elevation gain in about 8km from turnoff point on route 108. You can feel the temperature drop as you ride up on the motorbike. Breathtaking expansive views at the top! If you ride a scooter, make sure to go real slow going down as some sections are very, very steep, and brakes overheat and lose effectiveness! If you ride a regular geared bike make sure you use lower gear and engine braking on your way down.

Buddhist temple
Wat Klang is a gem nestled in the heart of Pai, known for its historical significance and serene atmosphere. This charming temple features ancient Buddha statues that are deeply revered by locals and visitors alike. One of its most captivating elements is the stunning Mon (Burmese) golden pagoda, which not only enhances the temple's beauty but also serves as a protective shelter for these sacred relics.
Beautiful small temple in the heart of pai walking street.

City monastery style, sweet old monk as abbot, if you're on the way somewhere, they will receive you well. Morning alms round in neighbouring streets starts at dawn around 6.00am, earliest bus to Mae Hong Son leaves at 8.30am just down the road.

(Translated by Google) Project to worship the reclining Buddha at 99 temples, year 2023 Temple 88, Wat Klang Pai, Pai, Mae Hong Son Wake up early and use the suspension bridge to walk across the Pai River to admire the morning atmosphere of Pai Walking Street. It looks quiet, different from last night when there was a walking street. The target is two temples on Pai Walking Street. First temple, go to the middle temple. The reclining Buddha of this temple It is a reclining Buddha carved from a large piece of wood. It is enshrined in the Pavilion of Mongkol Chaloem Phrakiat, which is not open to the inside. But it is iron bars and can be worshiped from outside the building. It is a reclining Buddha in the pose of nirvana. His body is dark red and brown. There was a golden headdress, a golden robe, and at the feet of the King there were 5 small disciples kneeling. This reclining Buddha is called Buddhadhammanarunatha The Buddha who possessed the Dhamma Behind the reclining Buddha, there is another Buddha image carved in a vertical wooden pole, in the posture of giving a first sermon, with elements of the Buddha sitting cross-legged in meditation. Presenting a sermon with a Prabhamonthon instead of teachings, five Panchavaggi statues and a deer, along with a pillar supporting the weight of the pavilion that is red with gold patterns. Makes the overall picture inside this pavilion look beautiful and worth worshiping. In the alcove on the south side where the daily Buddha image is located, there is another reclining Buddha image. It is a stucco statue of Nirvana. There are three disciples sitting in front of it. The reclining Buddha image is 1.5 meters long. The scene in the alcove behind the reclining Buddha image is made with a tree pattern. It looks beautiful. Surrounding the area are also several small pavilions that house popular Buddha images such as Phra Upakut, Phra Sivali, and Phra Sangkajai. There is a temple with excellent exterior murals. And on the sermon pavilion, you can also go up to pay homage to the Buddha statues. Next temple, Wat Pa Kham, Pai, Pai, Mae Hong Son. Previous temple: Wat Phra Non Khon Muang, Don Kaeo, Mae Rim, Chiang Mai. 47Coffin Cave

Coffin Cave, also known as Tham Lod, is a remarkable destination near Soppong that offers a unique spectacle at sunset when thousands of bats fly out and swifts return. The cave earned its name from the ancient stone-age coffins found inside. Accessible through an almost non-existent trail in a cornfield, reaching the cave involves navigating a challenging route with an old wooden bridge leading to the cliff face. The risk is rewarded with fantastic archaeological finds within the massive cave.
The route is terrifying. Honestly terrifying for somebody who doesn’t climb regularly. But I still survived it using common sense, taking it slowly and some helpful advice. There is practically no ladder, some parts you have to actively scale a wall and bring a machete for the overgrown shrubbery. The cave itself is awesome and massive to explore, but still dangerous. Heed the previous reviews about the possibility of dying. For reference I’m just healthy enough to climb, I don’t partake in regular climbing or hiking activities and have super short legs.
Santa K — Google review
Very nice cave! But the climb up to the entrance (and down again!) is pretty hard. Would not recommend for inexperienced people. I guess the name coffin cave is very fitting...
J — Google review
Unbelievably, my husband found the almost non-existent trail through a cornfield that led to the cliff face. This was NOT a novice hike. The old wood bridge that wound up the cliff was mostly rotten and even burned in places. It was more rock-climbing than anything. There were several places you could look through the rotted bridge slats to a long drop below. The risk was worth it-fantastic cave with the promised archaeology. Chinese tourists far below us were photographing us in the entrance. They stuck around, probably hoping to watch one of us fall-but we disappointed them by making it safely back :) We are National Speleological Members and have a lot of experience in dangerous caves. We recommend this only for experienced hikers and cavers, as the possibility of injury is high for the inexperienced. Park near the Chai Kob Homestay and walk nearly to the end of the paved sidewalk that parallels the cliff. Look to your left and you'll see the big entrance half-way up the cliff. Look for the rotted bridge and follow the pieces all the way up. Choose your hand and footholds wisely and you'll be fine.
Donna F — Google review
All the reviews say it’s a rock climb and that is the truth. You have to walk down a very small trail next to the corn fields and then you can sorta find out where you can go. There is half broken wooden stairs and half overgrown foliage. Only go if you know what you’re doing and have the right equipment.
Evan P — Google review
Abandon tourist attraction. It's not easy to even find the entrance and once you get there it's quite dangerous as of Jan 3, 2022 when I visited. Rotten broken walk ways, exposed rusted nails, no directions, broken walkways and zero walkways at some points. The only reason to visit would be if you want a solitude adventure. Bring gloves for scaling rocks, head lamp and helmet just in case.
Sam R — Google review
Other comments said it best, so ill just reiterate. This cave is awesome, but getting to it is a challenge. Not recommended if you aren't prepared for some rock climbing. The stairs are burned and fallen apart completey in some spots. Be careful Definitely worth the climb if you are a spry young buck like myself
Jonah K — Google review
Wow, didn't expect nice climb and hike up to the cave, stairs are burned or old, be careful, you have to climb or hold rock in some parts, inside is also nice and interesting
Tomas M — Google review
Hidden cave and not for the fainthearted. Left our bikes on the side of the road and followed a small track away from road (5 min) then a left turn to the mountain. You get to a very dodgy old stairs and all the way at the top can walk hrough the cave. Very cool!

Mae Sawan Noi Waterfall Forest Park Office is a hidden gem nestled in the midst of nature. While tourists flock to Thung Bua Tong Doi Mae Ho during winter to witness the blooming wild sunflowers, this waterfall remains secluded and tranquil. Unlike other waterfalls, exploration here begins at the upper level before descending to the lower level. The office itself is not the waterfall; visitors need to drive an additional 4 kilometers to reach its stunning beauty.
