Ponda in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Ponda, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Ponda offers a quieter, more traditional side of Goa, known for its lush spice plantations where visitors can tour estates and learn about local crops. The town is a major center of Goan Hindu culture, home to prominent temples such as Shree Mangueshi and Shree Shantadurga, set amid forested hills. Nearby wildlife sanctuaries like Bondla provide chances to see local flora and fauna and enjoy short nature trails. Its inland location also makes Ponda a useful base for day trips to Goa’s eastern forests and waterfalls.
With favorites like Shri Nageshi Temple,, Nagesh Water World, and Rajasthani dhaba churu vale, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Tilve Bhojanalay and Happenings Kitchen & Bar so you can get the best taste of Ponda while you’re here. Shree Shantadurga Temple, built in the early 1730s, is a grand Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Shantadurga. Situated at the foothill of Kavlem village in Ponda Taluka, it is one of the largest and most important temples in Goa. The temple houses deities of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu amidst a distinctive six-storeyed deepstambha and ratha with gilt work.
One of the most peaceful and divine temples in Goa! The architecture is stunning, with a beautiful mix of Goan and Portuguese styles. The temple surroundings are very clean and well-maintained. The atmosphere is calm, spiritual, and perfect for prayer or just quiet reflection. It’s a great place to experience traditional Goan Hindu culture. I loved the serene vibes, and the view from the temple steps was also beautiful. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Goa – not just for devotees but also for those who enjoy heritage and peaceful spots. 🙏✨

Quite serene calm place away from hustle bustle of city life, family goddesses of some, but a good place to worship the deity. Clean temple area. One can book and stay overnight for early morning pooja. Good facilities with clean toilets and canteen.

One of the hidden gems in Goa. It's a temple of Mother Durga deity - a symbol of feminine power and grace. Very calm and heavenly surroundings. Can spend 30mins easily basking the calmness and peace. Parking can be a concern on a bad day. But definitely a must visit, if in Goa

Located in Kavlem, Ponda, it’s one of Goa’s most revered temples and a must-visit for those seeking tranquility and heritage. a peaceful form of Durga who mediated between Vishnu and Shiva, the temple symbolizes harmony and divine intervention. The calm and meditative atmosphere is definitely something one must experience. the pond outside is well protected & super clean.

This temple is a hidden gem in Goa, offering a peaceful respite from the more bustling tourist areas. As one of the oldest temples in the state, it has a rich history and spiritual significance. The temple is situated in a beautiful, natural setting, away from the main roads and crowds. The serene ambiance is enhanced by the lush greenery and tranquil atmosphere. Inside the temple, you can find the deities of Durga Mata and Lakshmi Narayana, adding to the spiritual experience. While the roads leading to the temple may be a bit more remote, the journey is well worth it to discover this peaceful and historic place of worship. I highly recommend visiting this temple for those seeking a authentic, spiritual experience in Goa.
Jeevitha J — Google review
Beautiful experience. We witnessed Makarotsav during Navaratri. The temple premises is large with the temple beautifully constructed in the unique Goan architectural style. There is Anna dasohama (free food service by the temple) and a canteen where you can buy paid food. Also, the sarees offered by pilgrims/ devotees to the diety are sold / auctioned at very low prices which you can buy here.
Hitha N — Google review
Ensure dress code. vendors outside the temple selling Nariyal, Banana, Mala (Offering to God) at Rs 150/- which is much higher. Further you can go temple without this (offering). Temple provide lot of peace.

A truly divine and peaceful place to visit in Goa! 🙏✨ The Shanta Durga Temple is not only architecturally stunning 🏛️ but also spiritually uplifting. Surrounded by lush greenery and set against a scenic backdrop ⛰️🌿, the temple exudes a calming atmosphere the moment you step in. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Shantadurga, known as the goddess of peace and mediation, and you can truly feel a sense of tranquility in the air. The premises are clean, well-maintained, and beautifully designed with a blend of Goan and Indo-Portuguese architecture 💫🌺 We loved the serene ambiance, the soothing chants, and the spiritual energy of the place. It’s not just a religious spot, but also a cultural and historical landmark worth visiting while in Goa 📿🕊️ Parking is available 🚗, and the area around the temple is well-organized and easy to navigate. Overall, a must-visit if you’re in Goa—whether for spiritual reasons, culture, or just some quiet reflection 🌸 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Shri Nageshi Temple, situated in Bandiwade, is a sacred place dedicated to Lord Shiva, the god of snakes. The temple features a wooden gallery on both sides adorned with intricately carved idols depicting epic stories of Lord Shiva. It holds great religious importance and attracts numerous devotees annually. Surrounded by pleasant scenery and a small lake, the temple underwent renovation, transforming its old orange-red color to sky blue and white.
One of the oldest Saraswat temples still standing in its original location, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It majestically rises in the serene atmosphere of Bandora village, which is 30 kilometers from Panaji city. Intricate carvings and vibrant colors invite visitors to immerse themselves in a spiritual ambiance. The temple also features a magnificent Deepastambha (lamp tower) and a holy tank, both of which are key components of the temple grounds. It is a must-visit when exploring the spiritual and cultural heritage of Goa.

Neat, clean, quiet.... One has to climb around 25/30 easy steps. It is Nagesh (Lord Shiva) temple. Unlike other temples, it is Portuguese Church type construction. It could be obvious because of Portuguese regyme in Goa. Big lighthouse is there. Also there is small water pond.
DILIP P — Google review
Beautiful and calm temple! Nagesh is another name for Lord Shiva. Parking facilities are available.

Peaceful and serene. Quiet during the daytime but gets crowdy during an event or festival. Bhatts are decent and polite and you can get your devotional advice done quite efficiently via them. Parking also available in front of the temple. Pleasant experience as always.

Its very beautiful temple painted with dark colors. Place is very peaceful and crowd is less. In front of temple they have water tank / lake in which different fishes are available. Parking place is very small but it was empty when we visited on Saturday. I think many people are not visiting this place. Its hardly 15 mins away from Mangeshi temple.

The temple is beautiful with open parking available in ground. The atmosphere inside is divine and devotees perform abhishek. Many people visit the temple during Shravan month. There is palkhi and dinner on every sharavan somvar, which is worth attending. Canteen serves snack and lodging facilities are available for GSB community.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Fort, also known as Ponda Fort, is a captivating destination nestled in Farmagudi, Goa. This historical site is not only a tribute to the legendary Maratha leader who seized it from the Portuguese in 1675 but also serves as an ideal picnic spot for both tourists and students.
This is famous fort present in heart of ponda city. The fort is tribute to maratha king Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The fort is small but well maintained. An artificial built fort as a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. A few steps to climb inside to reach to top where there is beautiful statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. A good place to visit either in morning or evening as there is no shade anywhere, so in the aftenoon its kind of hot. Very welll maintained, clean and brightly coloured fort.

Only beautiful Fort in the state that is located in between locality. Farmagudi Village. This is a Beautiful Structure built during ancient times. State Govt. Is succesful for preserving and maintaining the structure regularly. The design is very charming and simple. On the top of the fort there is a Statue of King Chatrapati Shivaji. The statue is enticing and lively.According to the details available there (inscription), this great statue was inaugurated on 6th November,1977. Being located ot the prime location this structure stands as main attraction for the public. There is very comfortable benches for sitting, also space around. One can access easily as it is just near the road and quickly have a look and take away the memory. Statue is lit beautifully and can be visible during the dark hours also. Tourist coming to Goa mostly visit this fort, click photos, Selfies, and be a part of this beauty. Do visit and witness this historic monument and feel your heart of being like a Warrior. Keep Goa clean and green.

Great historical place of maratha kingdom in Portuguese stronghold. It was built by muslim rular Adil shah which destroyed by Portuguese. Rebuild by chatrapati shivaji maharaj in 1675. Later it ceded to Portuguese in 1783 by kingdom of sawantwadi. On liberation of goa 1961 it becomes part of India. Present structure is repaired in 2017. Chatrapati shivaji maharaj statue is the main attraction of this fort. Bright red and white themed paint work is also good. Few repair work/improvements also in progress. Small fort not much to see nearby. It's very clean and well maintained.
Shivaram T — Google review
The Ponda Fort is located near Ponda, in the state of Goa on the west coast of India. The present structure is a modern reconstruction on this location and converted into a park, In the early 16th century, the region around Ponda was ruled by the Adil Shahi Kingdom. They wanted a defense against the ever-expanding Portuguese Empire to the west, and had built a fortification on a hillside at Farmagudi. A Maratha leader Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj led a failed raid on the fort in 1665. Due to their recent skirmishes with the Portuguese, the Sultan's forces were weakened and the fort was badly damaged due to the artillery bombardment. Shivaji Maharaj tried again, this time successfully, to capture the fort later in 1675. After Shivaji's death, his son Sambhaji succeeded to the Maratha Empire. In 1683, he launched a surprise attack on the Konkan territories of Portugal. To avoid unnecessary bloodshed, the Portuguese offered to pay off the local Maratha governor named Naik to take control over Ponda Fort. This peace offer was refused, since Naik was expecting the arrival of Sambhaji reinforcements from Rajapur. He had along with him an army of 11,000 infantry and 6,000 cavalry. The Portuguese Viceroy, Francisco de Tavora, led an artillery attack on the fort to weaken it. In this battle, the Ponda Fort was badly damaged and there were high casualties among the Marathas but the fort remained under Maratha control. The war ended with a general retreat of the Maratha forces from Portuguese territories. Following Sambhaji's execution by the Mughals at Tulapur in 1689, the Peshwas gained control over the Maratha Empire which also included Ponda Fort. In 1783, the fort, along with the rest of the Novas Conquistas regions was ceded to the Portuguese by the Maratha Kingdom of Savantvadi under Ramachandra Savant I Bhonsle, as they needed assistance against their rival Sambhaji II of the Kingdom of Kolhapur. It stayed under Portuguese control for more than 175 years until the Invasion of Goa by India. During this time, it fell into disuse and crumbled off due to neglect, as there was no hostile forces left, to defend against. The Indian government took control of the fort after 1961, and renovated it into a park in 1977. During this time, a statue of Shivaji was erected by Shashikala Kakodkar of the pro-Marathi Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party.

Safa Masjid, also known as Safa Shahouri Masjid, is a historic mosque located on the outskirts of Ponda town in Goa. It was built in 1560 by Ibrahim Adil Shah and is the only surviving mosque out of the 27 shrines constructed during his rule. The mosque is a fine example of Islamic architecture and features a beautiful water reservoir at its entrance.
Beautifully maintained by the ASI❤️ The views are breathtaking 👌 MashaAllah. Points to be noted - Masjid is open, prayers are offered BaJamaat. - Masjid is open for visitors, everybody is welcomed. - Clean and hygienic WazuKhana and Washrooms. - Masjid is neatly maintained and taken proper care of. - Parking shouldn't be an issue here. - Entry is free, and no tickets are required.

A great place to visit , with a beautiful water tank with blue crystal clear water and dark brown laterite embankments . The mosque itself is small but charming , supposedly built by Ibrahim Adil Shah in 1560 A.D. it still retains its charm . The mosque is unique as it does not have a typical dome and is built on a platform of laterite stone . Loved visiting the place .
Mohammad K — Google review
recently visited Safa Masjid in Goa and I was thoroughly impressed with the beauty and serenity of this historic mosque. The architecture is stunning, with intricate carvings and a beautiful dome that is a sight to behold. The peaceful atmosphere inside the mosque was a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Goa's busy streets. The staff at Safa Masjid were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I felt at ease exploring the mosque and learning more about its history. It was fascinating to hear about the important role that the mosque has played in the local community over the years. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to Safa Masjid for anyone visiting Goa. Whether you are interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a peaceful place to reflect and pray, this mosque is a must-see. The mosque situated centre of the pond and peripheral garden. So the environment is very soothing and Sufi. The only one mosque like this architecture in India I ever seen.
Dr S — Google review
Safa Masjid, located in Ponda, Goa, is a historical mosque built in 1560 AD by Ibrahim Adil Shah I. Its design showcases simple yet elegant Islamic architecture with a distinct terracotta tile roof and arched niches. The mosque stands at the center of a large, rectangular garden, providing a peaceful and serene environment for visitors. A key feature of the complex is the large ablution hauz or water tank. This tank, surrounded by arched structures and steps, was essential for the ritual washing before prayers, and it contributes to the mosque's tranquil atmosphere. The mosque's architecture reflects the unique blend of Islamic and local Goan styles. The main building itself is relatively simple, but the surrounding structures and the large water tank add to its grandeur. The arched mehrabs and niches around the hauz are particularly notable, showing intricate stonework that has withstood the test of time. The overall design, with its symmetrical layout and peaceful garden, creates a sense of harmony and spiritual calm, making it a compelling site for both worshippers and tourists. As a place of worship, Safa Masjid continues to be a significant site for the local Muslim community. It remains an active mosque, and its historical and religious importance draws visitors from different backgrounds. The serene setting, away from the hustle and bustle, makes it an ideal spot for quiet reflection and prayer. Its status as a protected monument also ensures its preservation for future generations, allowing its legacy to endure. Safa Masjid is easily accessible for tourists and is well-maintained. The grounds are spacious and provide a pleasant walk around the mosque and its garden. While it is a popular place for locals, it is not as crowded as some other historical sites in Goa, offering a more intimate experience. The simple, elegant design and the historical context make it a must-visit for anyone interested in Goa's rich cultural and architectural heritage. The site is a perfect example of a sacred space that doubles as a historical landmark.

A hidden gem. It’s so beautiful and serene that you will be do glad that you visited it. So green, so calm, and so aesthetic. You can just spend long time next to the water tank and won’t even realise the time passing by. Very less people visit it and so there’s no crowd at all. Pure bliss this place is Safa Mosque or Safa Shahouri Mosque is a mosque located at Ponda within Goa, India. It is a sixteenth century Islamic Monument. If you're exploring the vibrant culinary scene near Mahalaxmi Temple, Tilve Bhojanalay is a must-visit spot for those craving authentic Indian cuisine. The restaurant boasts an average ambience with comfortable seating arrangements that allow for good circulation. While the food portions are average, the quality shines through with delightful dishes like kingfish fry, prawns fry, and special fish thali. Each item is prepared to perfection, especially the fried prawns and kingfish that stand out for their delicious flavors.
One of the Best Fish Thalis in Ponda. must try Prawns Rawa Fry, Chonok Masala Rawa fry, Chicken Masala Rawa fry

The ambiance is ok like a regular goan home. There are many varieties in fish dishes like Chonak, Iswan, Bombil, Shinane, Sungta, Bagdo and many others. Fish thali specially isswan thali is not that good. Fish was not refresh and moist, too hard and no need to chappati and chanya ross. Overall 2/5.

The service here is pathetic. I think it is worthless to wait more than two hours for food. Neither the thali nor any of the other dishes are really noteworthy. In addition i had ordered masala fried prawns but they served rava fry, also had to wait an additional fifteen minutes to get the bill.

Simple homely Goan non- vegetarian sea food available here. Reasonable pricing, functional eating area and fresh sea food. Don’t expect any ambience and great service. Place gets crowded during peak hours and the waiter had to be reminded due to the crowd. We had the special sea food thali- fantastic Surmai Rawa Fry, dried prawns, one daal, rice etc. Sorry about the pictures, clicked them after commencing eating the food. We were famished. One of the best places I’ve ever been to in Goa. Was in Goa for 3 days, came here for lunch and dinner all 3 days. The fish thali is exceptional , the squid butter garlic was a highlight for me. One of the best things I’ve ever tasted. I would highly recommend it. Very friendly staff , and extremely fast service . The ambience is perfect for either a friends or family setting. Pricing is more than reasonable as well.

We were on the lookout for a place to have some dinner and came across this place, we went as per the reviews. The ambience was nice, light music being played in the background and it wasn't too busy. We ordered a couple of soups, chicken lollipops, burnt chicken garlic fried rice, mixed hakka noodles, chicken xacuti, veg crispy and parathas. The wait was long, to get the food and all our dishes lacked flavor, the only star of the show was the beautiful cat, who gave us company on Christmas day. Overall, I'd say food was below average and service was really slow, but the young boy that was serving us really tried his best to make sure we were okay. Prices are decent, however they don't have the prices mentioned for their cocktails which was a bit odd and put us off from potentially trying any of them.

Food was great, paneer was of great quality. Chicken was really juicy. The naan needs a little improvement and the Chicken Kolhapuri is the standard found in most restraunts. Urak was fresh :) and served the traditional way. Thali is available only at lunch. Ambiance 8/10 Food 8/10 Value for money 7/10 Staff 9/10 (Some kind of uniform would fetch one more)

Takeout Restaurant

Khop INN in Goa is a must-visit spot, especially if you're a foodie. This place is famous for its limited-time offering of the best Chicken Cafreal, available only on four Sundays in July. The tender chicken pieces are coated with a flavorful cafreal masala and served with katre roll. The dish itself is a spicy green-colored delight that's made by grinding green chilies, herbs, and spices to create the marinade for the chicken before frying it.
I recently had the pleasure of trying the Chicken Cafreal at Khop Inn in Goa, and I must say, it was a truly unforgettable experience. The dish was a masterclass in balancing flavors, with the tender chicken marinated to perfection in a blend of spices, herbs, tangy vinegar and rum. The portion size was generous, and the dish was reasonably priced, making it an excellent value for money. If you're a foodie visiting Goa, do yourself a favor and head to Khop Inn for their legendary Chicken Cafreal. Your taste buds will thank you! Dine amidst nature's serenity- this restaurant is nestled within picturesque paddy fields, offering a unique and tranquil dininig experience. Pack it in, pack it out - take your trash with you. Keep the surroundings clean. Nb: Please place your order in advance, they only prepare food that has been pre ordered. Pros: Flavorful, tender chicken, addictive sauce, generous portion size, reasonably priced. Cons: None notable. Recommended for: Foodies, spice lovers, anyone seeking authentic Goan cuisine. How to reach : By own vehicles, Car scooter etc, it's a bit difficult to reach this location by public transport.
Shiju L — Google review
The location of Khop-inn is amazing, refreshing with its beautiful scenic view and greenery all around. Service was quick and they were polite. However, I was very much disappointed with the taste of the cafreal chicken. It was spongy, tasteless and dry. In my opinion it was too overpriced for it to taste like that.
Ashraya B — Google review
3 stars only for the location. The taste is not worth the hype. The cafreal was okay, but nowhere close to great. The chicken chilli was absolutely tasteless, and not at all worth the price. I mean Rs. 180 for just onion, and 3-4 pieces of chicken was complete waste of money. Now, coming to the location, we couldn't have asked for anything better. It's situated amidst green fields with stunning views of the nature. It is open for a few sundays during monsoon.
Goan F — Google review
Must try if you are in Goa during June-July. This place will transport you into a totally different world. Set amidst lush green fields in a small village of Wadi between Ponda and Margao. As the name goes Khop Inn means a small hut in konkani. Run by group of cousins for their love and passion towards food, they serve only two dishes 1. Chicken Cafreal 2. Chicken Chilly and you have to pre order it before coming through their social media pages or contact number. The Cafreal is authentic and has a homely touch to it. It'll tantalize your taste buds. The Goan Chicken Chilly is spicy and nicely compliments the weather in monsoons. Both the dishes are served with hot freshly baked poi (bread) . The service is excellent given that they are not professional and doing this just for fun. Ambience is killer and i doubt if you would get better ambience than this anywhere in Goa. Lush green fields everywhere with water streams flowing besides this is truly a spot for an outing with your family and friends. Kindly Pre Order and go because their pre orders are only so full there's a very less chance of getting your hands on something if you haven't pre ordered.
Siddharth N — Google review
The place is very good with the nature and service is also good I would say . but not as their food it's just a hype create. I had many expectations but didn't turn as good but they need to learn a lot to cook with proportions of masala i would say their chilly chicken was ok not that great but cafreal was disappointing to me . I don't know other day how they serve but my experience was bad

One of the Best cafreal to go heads on for. Amazing taste and made with love. Those vibes this place and surrounding environment gives... Its such a surreal experience. One of those few places you will find with such open and nature felt dining experience. (Especially is rains when greenary is at its peek around). Only thing is the place is little of a hassle to find, although buzzing on every weekends. Pre-order just in case u reach late , coz they frequently run out of them amazing treats. Do give it a try for those hungry experience seekers.
VIBHUTESH Z — Google review
Its a good place to visit for one time as its overhyped place. The cafreal tastes is not that good you only get flavour of cinnamon and cloves only. If you want to showoff on social media then you can visit one time.
Bhavesh B — Google review
We went there on 2 July 2023 (Sunday) Chicken Cafreal: ₹200/- Chicken Chillie: ₹190/- Rum (flambe) is added on request.. They take pre orders only.. Also, it's only available on Sundays as of now.. The cafreal taste isn't the best I've had.. The one we got was a bit salty in taste.. Nothing special.. It's the hype of the place, the nature that attracts people and the same was with us.. The chicken chilli is supposed to be spicy & it was but a little bit too much.. Some masalas were extra which affected the taste in NOT a good way.. Overall I personally won't recommend this place.. Rest is up to you.. Enjoy, Be responsible & keep the place clean..

Referred to as Sadus Chilli, this renowned establishment is a must-visit if you find yourself in Ponda. It boasts a lively Goan bar atmosphere and comes highly recommended for their Goan chili chicken served with Goan pao. A single serving is sufficient for one person, and they also offer other delectable dishes such as chicken xacuti, chicken thali, fish fry, and alcoholic beverages.
If you're a seafood lover looking for an authentic local Goan dining experience, Mahesh Bar and Restaurant should be on your list! Nestled in the heart of Ramnathi, Bandoda, Goa 403401, this iconic spot combines simplicity with rich, flavorful cuisine that speaks volumes. Ambience 🌴✨ The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, reflecting the essence of a classic Goan Tavern. Wooden interiors, warm dim lighting, and a buzz of lively conversations make it a perfect spot for both casual family dinners and catching up with friends over drinks. Food 🐟🍛 The star of the show is, undoubtedly, their seafood. I tried their Rava fried Prawns, Rava fried kingfish, Rava fried Chonak, Rava fried Mussels, Rava fried Vellyo and all were nothing short of spectacular. The prawns were perfectly cooked while the other fishes had a crisp, golden crust and a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Their Fish Thali is average as per me —an assortment of local flavors served with rice, curry, fried fish, and salad that give you a true taste of Goan coastal cuisine. For those who prefer non-seafood options, the Chicken Xacuti is a flavor bomb with its rich coconut and spice blend. And the star of the show in Chicken Category : Goan Chilly chicken. Absolutely delicious. Drinks 🍹 Their bar menu is extensive, offering everything from classic whiskeys to local feni-based concoctions. Service 😊 The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations or tweak dishes to your preference. Service is prompt despite the popularity of the place. Price 💸 Considering the quality and quantity, Mahesh Bar and Restaurant offers excellent value for money. Expect to spend around ₹800-₹1,200 for two, including drinks. Final Verdict ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mahesh Bar and Restaurant offers an authentic Goan dining experience with lip-smacking seafood, a cozy atmosphere, and great service. It's a place that celebrates local Goan tavern flavors in every bite. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike! This is a small place highlighting its taste. The food here is tasty and will invite your tastebuds again and again. Sadus chilli with goan poi or katro pao is the main star dish. It has a different unique taste and leaves the stomach craving for next time. It's a must try. The fish is fresh and tasty. The chicken xacuti was average so it did not win my heart. However the chonaak rawa fry was yummy. I would like to visit this place again. •Trip type: Dinner with Friends •Service: 3.0 •Location: 3.0 •Hotel highlights: small place suited for family & friends. •Walkability: No walking distance; its Just on the road with good street parking.

Tasty and Famous Chilly! Mahesh Bar and Restaurant, popularly known as Sadu Chilly, lives up to its name! The famous chilly dish was absolutely tasty — full of flavor with just the right kick. A must-try for spice lovers looking for something bold and satisfying.

Came all the way from Margao for takeaway of Chicken Chilly and Chicken Xacuti. While waiting for the order, I passed the time with some chilled beers. The food was ready within half an hour, which was quick and convenient. This place, also known as Sadus Bar and Restaurant, is very popular for its outstanding Chicken Chilly – and I can see why, the flavor was really good. We had ordered 4 portions of Chicken Chilly, 4 Xacuti, along with some bread. Taste-wise, both dishes were enjoyable, but the chicken pieces were a bit rubbery and hard to chew, and the Xacuti gravy felt slightly watery. The place itself fills up quickly with customers and has the vibe of a typical local bar – no fancy interiors, but tasty food and drinks at very reasonable prices. It was also fairly clean considering the setup. A good spot if you’re looking for budget-friendly food and drinks, especially their famous Chicken Chilly.

Update:: I’ve been here quite a number of times, but this takeaway experience was disappointing. I ordered Chicken Chili for takeaway and waited almost an hour fully understanding that it was a Sunday evening with peak rush, only to see others walk in and get served at tables instantly. When I asked the person at the billing counter about the delay, he told me that table orders are obviously prioritized over takeaways. I understand dine-in guests need attention, but making takeaway customers wait an hour— is not acceptable. If you want to continue being known as one of the best, please don’t let ur standards slip. Many great places lose their charm once they get too popular, and I hope this isn't one of them. Known as Sadu’s Chilli, this legendary place is a must try if u r in Ponda.. It had a goan bar vibe.. Must try their Goan chili chicken with Goan pao.. 1 serving is enough for a single person.. they also serve chicken xacuti, chicken thali, fish fry, alcohol.. Hv reduced 1 star since the quantity of chili chicken in one serving has decreased over the years

The Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple is a serene 450-year-old Hindu temple located in Mardol, just 22 kilometers from Panaji city in Goa. The temple features traditional Hindu architecture with a copper roof, granite mandap, and an ancient bell. Dedicated to Goddess Mahalasa Narayani, the temple is considered one of the largest and most beautiful temples in Goa.
beautifully maintained and peaceful temple in Old Goa. Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple offers a serene, spiritual atmosphere. We were lucky to receive Prasad, which made the experience even more special.
Santosh C — Google review
This temple is truly one of the most beautiful I have ever visited – a breathtaking blend of serenity, architectural grace, and cultural heritage that immediately touches the soul. For me, it holds an even deeper meaning because it is my 'Kuladevastana' – the sacred family deity that carries generations of devotion, faith, and blessings. This personal connection makes every visit profoundly special, as though I am reconnecting not only with the divine but also with the roots of my own heritage. One thoughtful aspect that enhances the experience is the convenience of parking facilities right beside the temple. This makes it accessible and comfortable for devotees, young and old, who often travel long distances just to seek darshan. It is a simple yet significant detail that allows visitors to focus entirely on their spiritual journey without the stress of logistics. The temple itself has ancient origins, dating back to the year 1560. Standing within its sacred precincts, one cannot help but feel the weight of history and the countless prayers offered here over the centuries. It radiates a sense of timelessness – a reminder that while the world outside constantly changes, the divine remains eternal and unshaken. There is a profound spiritual depth that seems to embrace every devotee who steps into its presence. Dedicated to Goddess Mahalasa, revered as the enchanting Mohini avatar of Lord Vishnu, the temple exudes divine grace. The idol, the rituals, and the very atmosphere carry an aura that words cannot fully capture – the divinity here is palpable. I would describe the temple as "heaven on earth".The tranquility one feels within is unmatched; it is as though every corner of the temple whispers peace to the heart, helping devotees leave behind the worries of everyday life. Devotees strongly believe that heartfelt prayers here are answered and wishes fulfilled. This faith makes the temple not only a place of worship but also a beacon of hope, drawing countless pilgrims seeking blessings, guidance, and solace. As you explore the premises, you will also come across the Shanteri temple, gracefully situated on the left side. This additional shrine enriches the spiritual landscape, offering an even deeper divine presence within the same sacred grounds. For those planning an extended stay, the temple provides practical amenities – a canteen serving wholesome food and rooms available for accommodation. These thoughtful facilities ensure that your focus remains on devotion and prayer, while your basic needs are well cared for. One of the most charming aspects of a visit here is experienced early in the morning. At dawn, the calmness of the atmosphere is enhanced by the delightful sight of sparrows fluttering around the temple. Their presence adds a natural charm – a gentle reminder of how divinity and nature coexist in harmony. Altogether, visiting this temple is not just about offering prayers – it is an experience that fills the mind with peace, the heart with devotion, and the soul with joy. It is a sacred place where culture, tradition, and spirituality unite, and for me, it will always remain a heavenly abode on earth.

Mahalasa Narayani Temple, Mardol – A Serene Divine Experience 🛕🙏 The Mahalasa Temple, located at Mardol in Ponda, is one of the most famous and ancient temples in Goa, also known as Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple. The beautiful sculpture and architecture of the temple date back to the 18th century. The temple is well-maintained, with ample parking and just a short walk to the entrance, lined with small shops on both sides. Everything felt so organized and welcoming. If you’re planning a trip to Goa, this temple is a must-visit! The divine aura and positive energy of Shri Mahalasa Narayani will surely leave you feeling blessed. Mystic Woods in Ponda is a serene park where visitors can enjoy photography amidst shade trees, seasonal butterflies, and a fish pond. The Butterfly Conservatory of Goa, located within the park, is home to over a hundred species of butterflies that freely roam the sanctuary's natural habitat-like environment. Additionally, the conservatory features various species of fish and native birds. Visitors can explore the park's flowering plants, fossil and mineral museum, and interact with butterflies during guided tours in the morning.
Wonderful place, lots to see. From meteorite to fossil. One can get fish pedicures in a natural environment. My kids liked it. The concept is very impressive.

We visited Mystic Woods in April beginning. While we could not spot butterflies, it was definitely an experience that felt worth the visit! The space had a very intimate cozy vibe thanks to the well maintained natural habitat. We saw beautiful birds, fish and plants! The caretaker was amazing. It's definitely great for nature lovers.

Mystic woods is a nice spot to visit, especially if you enjoy nature and seeing colorful butterflies up close. The garden is well-kept and offers a relaxing atmosphere. However, the variety of butterflies was not as extensive as expected. The stone collection is quite impressive, showcasing a diverse array of stones in different shapes, sizes, and colors. It’s fascinating to see such a variety in one place, and each piece seems to have its own unique beauty. The display is well-organized, making it easy to explore the collection at your own pace. However, I wish there was more information provided about the origins or significance of some of the stones. A bit more context would enhance the experience. Overall, it’s a nice spot for anyone interested in geology or natural art.

We had a wonderful experience at Mystic woods. It is a private property owned by a nature enthusiast couple ..very well maintained with a good mix of butterfly host and nectar plants. We were there just for about an hr but could spot minimum 10-15 different sps of butterflies like Malabar banded peacock, common jezebel, common mormon, common crow, chocolate pansy, common grass yellow, glassy tiger, blue tiger, tiny grass blue etc. We highly recommend the butterfly lovers to visit this place. Additional attraction would be their wonderful rock and fossil collection. The couple is highly cooperative and knowledgeable and we had a wonderful time interacting with them. They also have a unique type of roof garden which is worth visiting.

Market
Ponda Market is a vibrant hub that captures the essence of local life in Ponda city. This bustling marketplace offers an extensive range of products, from fresh vegetables and fruits to electronics, clothing, and even antiques. You can easily haggle for the best prices on your groceries while exploring numerous roadside stalls selling everything from gadgets to fashion items. The market also features a fish section where you can find an array of fresh seafood—though be prepared for some messiness typical of fish markets!

Absolutely disgusting and calling it so would be an understatement. It’s grotesquely unclean and foul. And one cannot even shop for vegetables without escaping the foul odour. The whole place reeks of Indian mindset. If you have it in you to spend a little more and shop at cleaner places, it would serve you well.

Good place to buy fishes… But the chicken shops present at the entrance of vegetable market is the worst marketplace design. The foul smell of chicken and mutton shop makes this market worst for shopping of vegetables…

Sahakari Spice Farm, located in the Ponda area of Goa, is a sprawling 130-acre plantation that grows an array of spices, herbs, and trees. Visitors can immerse themselves in the aromatic experience by plucking and tasting pepper, sampling the world's hottest chillies - Peri Peri, enjoying an elephant shower, and indulging in a traditional Goan lunch prepared with farm-fresh spices.
They sadly don’t have elephants anymore (I read online about it and was looking forward to introducing my toddler to them but the forest department took them away a couple years ago). Regardless we had a great time overall. Tour guide, Lucy, was amazing. Fresh lunch was delicious. Great, reasonably priced herbal products to buy from their store .

Very beautiful farm and one of a kind experience if you are visiting for first time. They welcome you with flowers and then serve you a welcome drink. Then you have a option of having lunch or going on a tour of farm. Lunch was home like and tasty. They served both veg and non veg food. It is a buffet. Then on tour they explain you all about the different spices and condiments they grow in the farm and their benefits. At last they pour a mixture of some herbs with water on your back to relieve your fatigue. Overall a great experience.

If you like being around nature and love the knowledge of trees, plants and spices you must visit this Spice Farm. The entry fee was only Rs. 500/- per head which includes a tour guide and a lunch buffet. The welcome to the farm was with a shower of flower petals and a small glass of Lemon Grass tea which has many health benefits. The tour guide is available in Hindi, English and Konkani languages. Our tour guide Saiksha who gave us a tour in English was very sweet, polite and knowledgeable. The tour of the plantation is for about 25 to 30 minutes and is a walking tour. Post that they refresh you with herbal cold water on your back to soothe and calm you. They also give you 15ml of Fenni a local goan alcohol made from the Cashew fruit. You can then sit down for your lavish spread of authentic local cuisine. There is ample of parking space available here and it's better to come in early when it's cooler and has less crowd.

I went here on my birthday — and man, that turned out to be such a great decision! The food was absolutely amazing, and our guide was both knowledgeable and super nice, with just the right touch of sarcasm that made the tour fun and engaging. Everyone we met was incredibly kind. We were actually the first ones to arrive that day, and they welcomed us with flower petals and a warm cup of lemongrass tea infused with cardamom and ginger — such a lovely start! And can I say it again? The food was AMAZING. They served it in earthen pots — not sure if it’s cooked in them too, but either way, it was delicious 😬

It’s a spice plantation & agro-tourism venture located in Curti, Ponda, Goa. The farm occupies around 130 acres and has been developed into a tourist spot where visitors can see how various spices and crops grow naturally. The farm not only grows spices (like pepper, cardamom, nutmeg etc) but also fruit trees, medicinal herbs and practices eco-friendly farming methods. The experience includes a guided tour of the plantation and a traditional Goan meal (buffet style). They have both veg and non-veg options.

Visiting the spice farm is definitely worth it. It's a privately owned farm spread over 130 acres, though only 2–3 acres are accessible to visitors. The guided tour is informative, offering great insights into various spices, their Ayurvedic benefits, and how to identify fake products often sold in the market. The entry fee is INR 500 per person, which includes a guided tour, farm visit, and lunch. The food was delicious, healthy, and they even offer Jain/Swaminarayan options, making it completely vegetarian-friendly. Since the farm is located away from North Goa, it's best to go by car for convenience.

🌿 An Absolutely Wonderful Experience at the Sahakari Spice Farm, Goa! My visit to this spice farm was one of the most memorable experiences of my Goa trip! The place is absolutely wonderful — peaceful, green, and filled with the aroma of nature. Our journey started at 8:30 AM from Panaji, and after navigating through Google Maps, we reached the farm around 9:45 AM. We were the first visitors of the day and were warmly welcomed with a refreshing cup of organic herbal green tea, made from freshly grown spices. Soon after, a guide escorted us through the farm, explaining in detail about the different species of spices, their lifespans, when they start producing yield, and the climatic conditions required for their growth. We also learned about various organic farming techniques used to enhance spice production. Though I forgot his name, I truly admire him for his amazing knowledge, communication skills, and humble nature — he made the tour so engaging! The farm tour lasted about an hour, surrounded by lush greenery, the sound of flowing water, and the soothing scent of spices — it was an absolute delight for the senses. After the tour, we followed a traditional ritual where a blend of two organic oils was applied to our back — said to relieve tiredness, and it truly worked! Then came a chance to taste Feni, Goa’s traditional alcohol made from cashew fruit — like a desi version of tequila! Next, we moved to the dining area for an unlimited Goan buffet, and honestly, it exceeded all expectations — especially for just ₹500 per person! There were around 10–12 vegetarian options and 3 non-vegetarian dishes, along with starters, desserts, and drinks. The flavors were authentic and delicious — finally, I got to taste the real Goan cuisine I’d been searching for throughout my trip. We ended the visit by exploring the farm shop, where we purchased some authentic spices and oils. Prices were slightly on the higher side, but considering they are pure and organic, it’s completely worth it. After relaxing for a while and capturing some photos amidst the beautiful greenery, we headed back to our hotel, completely refreshed and satisfied. 🌴 Overall, this spice farm is a must-visit place for anyone exploring Goa! It’s educational, relaxing, and offers a perfect mix of nature, culture, and cuisine. Highly recommended!

Cool 'n' Spice is a stylish restaurant located in Goa, offering a cheerful and memorable dining experience. The eatery features a diverse menu including Goan, North Indian, Chinese, Italian, and Continental cuisines. Additionally, it boasts a bar for those looking to enjoy some drinks with their meal. Visitors have praised the timely service and delicious dishes such as pan-fried chicken, batter-fried kalamari, reshmi kebabs, and chicken fried rice.
i have been to this place twice and both times they have met customer satisfaction. my recent visit was for dinner and we ordered pan fried chicken(½plate sufficient for 2-3 ppl) ,batter fried kalamari, reshmi kebabs, chicken fried rice(see pics) .all the dishes came well in time, great taste ,fish was good but ultimate winner was the reshmi kebab.very few restaurants in goa make the eggwhite canopy over kebab and the kebabs tasted perfection. this place has two separate seatings and both r great. service waiters are also good.

Funtime Family Bar and Restaurant

Chinese restaurant
Funtime Family Bar and Restaurant in Goa is a delightful stop for those exploring the region, especially after a visit to the nearby spice garden. The menu boasts an array of delectable dishes, including King fish fry and pomfret curry, all served with rice that strikes a perfect balance without overwhelming spiciness. While the food shines brightly, showcasing a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options beyond just South Indian cuisine, the dining experience could be improved by addressing service issues.
While the food at Funtime Family Restaurant in Goa was undeniably delicious, the overall dining experience was marred by poor service. Despite the tasty dishes, the ignoring and inattentive staff made it difficult to fully enjoy our meal. It was disappointing to see such a lack of efficiency and professionalism in the service aspect. We hope that the restaurant can address this issue in the future, as the quality of their food certainly deserves better. The QR for payment was not working in the end

We visited Aroma (Udupi Fun Time) during our South India tour package. Our group was traveling by bus, and the tour guide suggested this restaurant — that’s the main reason we came here. It now feels like it was more beneficial for the guide than for us. The restaurant looks nice from the outside as it's just opposite Mangueshi Temple, but the food quality was very poor. We ordered Veg Kolhapuri, Dal Tadka, Aloo Jeera, Roti, Chapati — the taste was bland, and the roti/chapati were dry and of very low quality. We spent ₹935, but it didn’t feel worth even half of that. Being in a tourist area doesn’t mean you can compromise on quality. Please improve your food and service — tourists deserve better.
Sunil S — Google review
I regret that I cannot comment on the food, as we were unable to enjoy it due to the poor service provided by the waitstaff. The service was extremely disappointing, characterized by inattentive and careless staff who displayed a significant lack of professionalism.Orders were not taken in a timely manner, and even when a waiter did come to our table, we were frequently ignored or interrupted. Additionally, we were moved from table to table multiple times to accommodate other guests, which was very disruptive.Ultimately, we had to leave the restaurant without dining. I hope the management addresses these issues to improve the overall dining experience.

As I observed, this Restaurant is mainly dependent upon tourist of South Goa tour bus. As bus arrived seating area becomes crowded. This is also because, silently guide of the bus whisper about this restaurant. This restaurant serves both veg and non veg dishes. But good thing is both have different seating arrangements, veg on ground floor and non veg on first floor. Quality of food was not so good and not so bad, its average. But test wise all dishes we ordered was usually spicy. I appreciate the owner/manager who is using tech. to manage seating arrangements, order and billing. A popular restaurant located near Shri Mangesh Temple of Mardol, Goa. The restaurant has two sections, vegetarian in the ground floor and non-vegetarian in the first floor. Sat in the vegetarian section so ordered veg Kolahpuri and roti. Found the Kolhapuri to be very spicy and as such didn't suit my stomach. Popular because most of the tourist vehicles drop in at this restaurant for lunch.

Visited Royal Garden for dinner and honestly didn’t enjoy the food. I had ordered Chicken Jalfrezi, Roti, and Lemon Soda. The Lemon Soda was the only thing that tasted really good – perfectly made and refreshing. The Roti was fine, but the Chicken Jalfrezi wasn’t tasty. Later, I ordered Chicken Fried Rice, but even after waiting for more than 20 minutes, it didn’t arrive. When I asked the waiter, he said it wasn’t made yet as the chef was busy preparing soup. Overall, quite disappointed with the experience — food wasn’t up to the mark and service was slow.

Visitors can enjoy interactive sessions to learn about the cultivation and harvesting process of different spices. The farm also features scenic views and a peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for families and friends seeking relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion.
We have had an opportunity to visit spice farm as part of the organize trip by our tour operator. It was great experience to learn about all beautiful and positive side effects of using all this great spices. In the end we have had option to purchase some of the fresh spices z Unfortunately I haven’t had an opportunity to take more pictures.

It can get really crowded on Sundays and holidays. There should be a cap on the number of bookings accepted on a given day as it gets too cramped up for comfort. 850, that too on a running offer, for an experience like that is not worth it. And as for the people who book in advance and are then faced with the horror of the sheer number of people there, it makes no sense. Plus, no separate counter for people who have done advance bookings just to pick their wrist tags - poorly managed - given that so many on the spot bookings were accepted. The place is not as big as it may seem on photos. So do not get deceived when they claim that the property can accommodate around 800 people at a time. The food was good. One can expect authentic as well as seasonal dishes on the menu. Among the positives, there was drinking water everywhere and the rooms were decent. Activities at Rock Valley are a bit pricey but okay for the experience. I still give it three stars as the property is not bad overall. Needs maintenance at multiple areas which seemed to be under renovation as well. The slides were good.
Anselm N — Google review
Used to enjoy this place a lot but now it’s gotten bad. The washrooms are unhygienic and changing rooms are barely usable. The only good part about the place is the food. There’s alcohol allowed so it creates a very uncomfortable situation if there’s drunk people around. The activities are good tho.
Seefat M — Google review
Had a horrible time right from the time of entry to exit. To start with when we reached the location we had to wait in line for 25 mins before we got our entry tags and this is despite having done a 100% advance booking. The people at the booking counter were rude and slow. They should ideally have separate counters for those pre booked and walkin. We were told advance booking is required while we saw many people doing spot booking. Moving forward from there we headed to the pool area and were horrified to see the amount of people already in the pool. The place was packed beyond capacity. ( Have shared the video of the overly crowded pool area ). The place should limit entries so as to ensure there is enough space for everyone to enjoy and people don't end up jumping and banging into each other. The food looked good but we avoided it and decided to leave due to over crowding there was a huge line and added to which some people were getting annoyed and arguing. We left the property totally disappointed and a waste of our money and time taken to travel to the location. If you're a person who hates their personal space intruded then avoid this place.

Nagesh Water World is a captivating water park located in South Goa, offering an array of thrilling water rides and spacious cottages nestled amidst lush greenery. It's an ideal venue for hosting parties, functions, and picnics with its three swimming pools and a double-layer waterfall. The park stands out for its natural surroundings, featuring tall coconut trees and wooden cottages under the open sky.
It's a excellent place to play to do slide in the water too much better and the water is so like cool 😎 for the price it was good 👍
Afrin D — Google review
I visited Nagesh Water World recently, and it was an okay experience overall. The entry fee of ₹550, which includes unlimited food, seems reasonable for a day out, but there are a few areas that could be improved. The water rides were fun, but some of them seemed a bit outdated and could use better maintenance. The pools were not clean. which made it hard to fully enjoy. The unlimited food was a nice touch, but the quality was average. There were a decent number of options, but the taste and freshness could be better. The staff was polite but not very proactive in assisting visitors. Overall, it’s a good budget-friendly option for a family outing or with friends, but don’t expect a top-notch experience.

Restaurant
Rajasthani Dhaba Churu Vale at Resort Rio offers a diverse range of cuisines, including Gujarati, Rajasthani, Jain, Goan, Chinese, Continental and Italian. Despite its appearance resembling a typical desi dhaba or truck stop eatery, the food is highly praised for its amazing taste.
Great Vegan Food nice Will come back again.

The food and chapati were of absolutely poor quality. I ordered Veg Biryani and Wheat Roti, both of which were stale and inedible. When I called the restaurant, they denied it, saying their restaurant is open 24 hours, so how could the food be stale? Is this a joke? The oil they use is of poor quality, and the owner has no manners

The place does gives a vibe of a typical desi dhaba. But don’t go by it’s looks, the taste of the food is amazing. Even though it may appear that the place is for truck drivers, the taste is amazing. Cholle masala, Gobi manchurian, paneer tikka masala and paneer chilli were amazing, I heard positive review about daal baati from my friends but you have to order for it 1 hour prior. The only mistake you can not commit is ordering Special thali, some friends regretted their decision.
