He guided us on a 6day trek in Binsar Forest Reserve through tough jungle terrain . His knowledge on the flora and fauna of the region is extensive. We had an amazing experience by the stream that we chanced upon on one of the hikes.

This place serve best sweet of kumaon. The flavours and taste is is still the same and sweets are very fresh, soft and mouthwatering. If want to have authentic kumaoni sweet this is absolute place to buy the sweet from. Only one thin that's disappoint 😞 they don't accept any online payment so always carry cash. The place is very close to the bus terminus this easily accessible. The beauty of this place is much more visible during the day when some shops are closed and the lanes less crowded. Add to that a cloudy weather and you have the perfect recipie of a romance blooming somewhere.

Very heritage temple of katarmal of devbhumi Utarakhand. Sun Temple is very beautiful and energetic. You will be mesmerized just by looking at its design, especially if you go there in the morning and evening, its beauty becomes double. It is a very holy place. It is the best place for heritage photography. If you sit here in the morning and meditate, you will get peace.

Katarmal is a remote village in Almora District. As per Wiki, it is known for a rare & Beautiful Sun temple, constructed by the Katyuri Kings in the 9th century CE and bears witness to the architecture of the day. Masons of the time used a mixture of lime and lentil paste to make the adhesive agent. Katarmalla, a Katyuri king, constructed the temple, which has 44 smaller temples around the main deity of Surya, called Burhadita or Vraddhaditya. Other deities like Shiva-Parvathi and Lakshmi-Narayana. are also established in the temple complex. The carved wooden doors and panels were transported to the National Museum, Delhi, after a murti from the 10th century was stolen. The temple, which holds other carvings on the walls and panels, was declared a monument of national importance under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958.

This place is located at the top of the hill as most of the devi temples are located. This is a shaktipeeth temple of a vaishnau devi. It's similar to what Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu. It is strongly believed that devi/goddess Vaishno ji fulfills everyone's heart's desire here. It is also believed that when Hanuman Ji was carrying the Sanjeewani buti(medicinal plant) with mountain for Laxman, a piece fells here and since that day this place is known as Dronagiri/'Doonagiri. People can feel calmness, peace and eternal joy here. There are around 265 stairs to reach to the top of Dunagiri temple peak to reach here. These stairs are covered with tin shade so that people can use it during any weather (rain/sunny day). It is 14 km./ 30 mins drive from Dwarahat city.

My husband and I ate here last night. We ordered half plate mutton , half plate chicken curry and shami kebabs. Shami kebabs were fried like pakoras. Mutton and chicken dishes had the same gravy. None of the dishes were delicious or even averagely tasty. The only decent things were the chutney and fresh tawa rotis. Worth giving a miss as there are far better nonveg places in Almora.

I will never ask to me eat at Sony Restaurant almora after today or will never pack food! "Today, I was taken to the room by packing egg curry from here and we had two cockroach dad body's this is very disappointed 😞

I had visited this place 2 years back too... Two people can have dinner in less than 250 bucks.. which is very reasonable ..food quality is also great. Location wise it's easily reachable. Though this place is little cramped but it's always filled with the people. If you are looking for some posh/luxurious place to dine..then this surely is not your place... I have fun dining here..

I ordered my meal from swiggy late night but it was cancelled , at last i got this restraunt and i had just reached almora as i was travelling kumaon , this restraunt delivered food in just 20 minutes and quality of food was very nice . Very bad experience, packed shai-panner with tandoori roti and tawa roti... Shai paneer was without salt and too much oil, and tandoori roti was made of maida (that too not cooked properly)... Complete waste and have to throw it... Either cook is changed or owner has no interest left.. what a sad state of restaurant...

Very very bad experience. Ordered kali mirch chicken and they served "totally kali mirch " with full kasturi methi or something like that, whole mood get spoiled & left dinner in between and then moved to another restaurant near there (Joshi ju restaurant) to have dinner complete. Worst experience with Glory. Though I myself resident of Almora but now Glory had only it's name no good food. Not against glory but it hurts as once it was my favourite restaurant.

The experience was very nice and the view from the hotel was fantastic. Nearby there was a temple of "Maa Kasar Devi" and the restaurant was very clean and the food quality was excellent. Mr.Naveen was a very respectful and nice person, he was very co-operative. Although, i loved this place and the services were very nice and the staff's were very good.

Disappointing Experience - Not Recommended for Families. I had a terrible experience at this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. The only positive aspect of the resort was its proximity to the Kesar Devi temple. The TV in my room was not working, the bathroom was dirty, and the bath lock was broken. Despite reporting these issues to the management, no action was taken to rectify them. There was a lack of communication among the staff, as I was given conflicting information about the kitchen closing time. When I tried to place an order at 9:30pm, I was told the kitchen was closed even though I was earlier informed it closed at 10pm. This caused a lot of inconvenience, especially since I had a toddler with me. There are much better options available nearby, so I would advise against staying at this hotel. "Book on your own Risk"

Had a good experience at The Himalayan Heights. Celebrated my father’s 60th birthday. Staff cooperated in each every small things like decoration, etc. Breakfast was good. The view from the room was also breathtaking. The good point is that the temple is at a walkable distance from the hotel.

Ambience is fine , food is fine too....but subjective of timing. So take your time and direct the chef properly if you want the best service. All together it's a good place to enjoy .

I’ve ordered from Sumanglam Restaurant, Almora via Zomato and it was nice experience. Food was good. For some things need an improvement though. Pavbhaji has a lot of oil in the sabji. It has to be less oily and better healthy! I may visit this restaurant in person sometime maybe. 🤔

Binsar Zero Point is the highest point of the Binsar Wildlife, from where one can savour a 360-degree view of the Himalayan beauties namely Kedarnath, Shivling, Trishul and the group of Nanda Devi peaks. Entire trail is beautiful, many birds can see from there. 2 km trail gives you serenity. If you stay in Binsar, must do this trail at morning.

Binsar is a beautiful area about 30km from Almora with an average height of 2412 metres. It is made of a series of ridges and gorges. Binsar used to be summer capital of Chand kings. It was later on established as a sanctuary for the conservation and protection of Oak forests. It has over 200 species of bird. However, when we visited Binsar in February last year, we did not have much luck with seeing these birds, possibly because in winters they had migrated elsewhere.

Ticket price - 250 per car. 200 per person. The fees goes to the forest department while the road is maintained by pwd. As on December 2024, the 10km road to the trek start point is in horrible condition and sedans and low ground clearance vehicles should avoid it. There are half foot craters with mud and I saw cars with broken bumpers. 200mm ground clearance is recommended minimum. The trek itself took around 20 mins one way and it easy . Carry water as there is no water source on the way. The view from here on a clear day is amazing with all peaks visible.

Avoid visiting this place or taking hotel at the top of zero point. The road are such pathetic you will end up telling why did we choose this place. Bikers who love off-roading will definitely love this place but make sure you have a good riding skills. They have ticket of rupees 200per head and Rs250 of car. And there is nothing much at Zero point. The road to zero point is definitely not to travel after 3PM(much recommended) because travelling during dark is very very risky with no light no fencing at the sides and no proper roads might put life in danger.

Absolutely over rated. It's a good hike and view but you can get it anywhere in and around Binsar. No need to make an effort to do this trail. If you are there it's okay to trek but then there are so many trails everywhere. In fact staying inside the forest is also not necessary. The views are better from Dinapani or Kasardevi.

A bit of forest preserved in its original state, this park makes for a good trek from Almora and Kasardevi. On clear days, there are good views of thd snow-capped Himalayan peaks. There's a temple inside and some benches for sitting and enjoying the view, and nothing much else.

Bablu ji is an absolute gem of a person, Very helpful and informative person and the important thing is that the food is very tasty of simtola restaurant. must try pahadi food. Tea, coffee and specially chola samosa are also superb. Must visit once.

The zoo compound by itself is lovely. Located on densely forested mountain slopes, and with an interesting walking path cutting its way through the forest and up the slopes, it makes for a nice round walk slightly more than a kilometre, in blissfully green surroundings. That's the best part of it. The zoo is unfortunately terribly badly run. There are two huge owls in separate enclosures in bare pens which are forced to sit on concrete floors the whole day! An albino macaque in an adjoining cage has a badly bruised and infected rump due to the concrete floor and can barely walk. It looks sickly and diseased. The deer enclosure is overcrowded and stinky, the sambhar have skin disease with clumps of hair falling off. In contrast, the leopards - three of them - look outwardly healthy, but live in cramped cages with nothing of interest in their cages to pique their interest. The Mrig Vihar Zoo is a good example of why people question the very existence of zoos. It's pathetic, sad and a stellar example of animal abuse.

It should be called PRISON rather than Zoo.. Very poorly maintained. Very few animals and birds and their condition is not really well. No proper maintenance of these animals and birds, they are suffering from diseases. Also, previous reviews also mentioned the same. And time has passed still local authority is really not serious about them. As mentioned in previous reviews, Macao monkey is really in a very bad condition with no proper care and no proper facilities. Same goes with owls. Chitals have no proper food no proper water facility. The Vulture also needs the utmost care. Leopards also need to have proper care with larger space. Also, a serious need for inter-connected pathways between the areas. In a nut shell, very pathetically maintained, really to be called as PRISON. People visit such place to get a positive environment, but visiting there, feels like entering into a negative environment. A SURPRISE INSPECTIONS ARE NEEEDED FOR SUCH AUTHORITIES BY HIGHER OFIICIALS.

Almora Zoo (Mrag Vihar) is situtated about 6 Km from Almora at Almora Barechhina Road, This zoo is in hill area & its area is medium size. it has an animals like Leopard, Bear, Monkey, Deer, barasingha ( Swamp Deer) and Rabbits. The white Deer & white Monkey is a rare one. The A good place for Children enjoy viewing the wildlife.

Zoo is spread in a big area. They have 3 leopards , 1 black bear, Cheetal(spotted dear) , one male is huge in size. They also have a white monkey.

Only four types of Animals Bear , Monkey and Himalayan Vulture were in very pathetic condition . Deers were hungry. When we visited no one was there to take care of them.

Just yesterday i bought about 3.5 kg sweets from this shop. Today all sweets started smelling. It is little sour and bad taste. Never buy again from this shop. Just within 24 hrs it started smelling.

Small shop in Almora, It is said that the owner of this shop makes the Bal mithai very first time here in Almora. There were many sweets in the shop, I asked for half kilogram mix sweets in which they gave me bal mithai, singhuri, peda and laddu. The taste was really good. They charged 150 ruppes for half kilo.

Museum is on road side,so very easy access. Good for students visit. Some old things related to our past are there. Kumauni apan are center of attraction. If someone is interested in achitecture and heritage side seeing, then it's a right place.

Sheltering some of the legacies of the Katyuri and Chand dynasties, the museum on Mall Road also has beautiful collections of folk style painting known as Aspen and Kumaoni antiquities.

It is a good place. I'm happy that such a museum exists in the first place. I visited it. The problem is that it is in great need of renovation and promotion. Definitely a great start but there is great scope for expansion because Kumaon has a lot of heritage. Online presence and advertisement inviting local people to donate antique Kumaoni artifacts could be a great initiative! As of yet the place is somewhat smaller and the collection is lesser than it should be! But the staff were good and they've tried their best to make it worth the visit. Entry is free so drop in!
