Bio Garden

Botanical garden
Recreation center
Restaurant
Bio Garden is a serene oasis nestled among lush fruit orchards, vegetable gardens, and a small fish farm. Visitors can immerse themselves in organic cultivation methods and savor farm-to-table experiences with pesticide-free fruits. The expansive orchards boast an array of fruits such as lemons, kiwis, and oranges. It's the perfect place to recharge your spirit and reconnect with nature.
Bio Garden is a beautiful place, well maintained and the team was very passionate towards their job. We can eat fruits directly plucked from the plants and the way the farm is organized is brilliant. There are also different pets were they are given their own space. The colorful pigeons was a treat to the eyes. Bird feeds are available at a cost and feeding them is an experience not to miss out.
Sherin R — Google review
The weather was a bit hot but bearable. There were four types of fruits available: apples, grapes, plums, and figs. The entrance fee was 10 manat. You’re allowed to eat as much fruit as you want, but only what you pick directly from the trees — taking any fruit with you costs extra. There were also some birds around, and you could ask the staff to direct you to the different fruit tree areas. Overall, it was a very pleasurable experience.
Kamilia R — Google review
My family and I absolutely loved this place! There were loads of fruits that you could pick and eat as much as you want which was a very nice experience. They also had some animals and a lovely cafe that you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in. A must if you're going to Sheki.

Very beautiful garden...well maintained..We can eat fruits directly plucked from the plants and the farm is organized very nicely. There are also different pets from multiple regions....we can feed them as well... They have colorful pigeons that is not original colors but looks very nice ....the staff is very nice and cooperative...must visit place..

"Such a vibrant and beautiful botanical garden! Filled with a variety of fruits and vegetables — a perfect spot to relax, explore, and enjoy nature. Totally worth the visit!"
Jamal — Google review
Bio Garden is hands down one of the best places to visit in Sheki! From the moment you enter, you’re welcomed with friendly smiles and a peaceful atmosphere. Everyone there is kind and happy to help, making the experience feel very personal and enjoyable. The place is super clean and full of fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and greenery. Depending on the season, you can pick and eat as many fruits and vegetables as you like — all fresh and straight from the garden! We also loved seeing the animals around the garden — dogs, ducks, pigeons, and even fish. It’s a great place for both kids and adults to connect with nature. A special thank you to a young boy named Ali who guided us around and shared information about the park. If you visit, I definitely recommend asking them for a short tour — it really adds to the experience. Whether you’re a nature lover, a foodie, or just looking for a peaceful place to relax, Bio Garden is the perfect choice in Sheki.

Visited Mid July, no good fruits ( only plums, apple not ready, blackberry sour not ready) they had painted pigeons with colours. They said they had animals to see(where?) The people are not willing to guide. Not worth 10azn pp

Cafe
If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Sheki, make sure to stop by Illy Espresso House. Nestled near the historic Karavanserai, this cozy café offers a delightful escape with its warm ambiance and friendly barista. The aesthetic setting is perfect for enjoying a cup of their affordable and delicious coffee or hot chocolate, whether you're in the mood for something warm or cold. You can even grab a book from their collection to enjoy while sipping your drink.
One of the best coffee houses in outside of Baku so far. Service and Atmosphere is great! The building itself is part of Karvansaray, so you can feel history there as well. A bit expensive, but worth to have a coffee when you visit to Shaki.

Best coffee and cosiest place in town. The owner/barista is really friendly. They have tea with traditional sweets, iced/cold espresso based coffees, homemade limonades, ice tea etc. The place is small but usually not crowded. There is also an outside table, which is a nice spot to sit and watch passersby.

A very cozy cafe with friendly barista 🥹 located in Sheki old city, just by the Karavanserai. The place is so aesthetic and has very affordable and tasty coffee and chocolate ☕️for any season (hot and cold). There are also books 📚 for you to read to pass time. Restaurant
Restoran Qaqarin is a conveniently located restaurant not far from the historic center, named after the Russian cosmonaut Gagarin. It offers a nice outdoor terrace and warm indoor seating with heaters available. The food is fresh and tasty, with top-class piti, kebabs, lamb chops, and well-made fish served with apricot and pomegranate sauce. Visitors praise the organic curd as very fresh and worth trying.
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is delicious for a reasonable price. You get almost anything and everything that is of the local cuisine. The pitti is wholesome and tasty. The location is also beautiful, almost the whole of Sheki can be seen from your table. The back side also gives the mountain view. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxing evening out. The staff is polite and attentive, going above and beyond to provide a wonderful eating experience. The place is frequented by both tourists and locals. Out of the ones I've been to in Sheki, nothing will quite compare to this.
Tejinder K — Google review
Amazing value for money. Big portions, great tasty food. Even the bread tasted amazing. The dolmas and kinkhali tasted amazing and so did everything else. Thoroughly recommend it and the it is not expensive at all. There is a menu in English too.
Didier L — Google review
Fantastic food! I went here a couple times and tried Piti, qutabs, kebab, kharcho, kuku and also the bread was very good. Service is fast and the view from the terrace is nice
Alexander — Google review
Very delicious food. Great atmosphere with beautiful view. Best Piti ever 🌟
Anatoli D — Google review
Despite the name “Gagarin,” there’s little connection to the famous Soviet cosmonaut—aside from a small sign at the entrance. That said, the food is tasty and reasonably priced. The outdoor seating area offers a lovely view of the mountains, making it a pleasant spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Everything would have been great if not for the excessive wait times. It took a very long time for our food to arrive, and even longer to get the check. So while the atmosphere and food are good, I’d only recommend this place if you’re not in a hurry and have time to spare.
Felipe B — Google review
If you are coming to Shaki city (Şəki), visit here and eat the meal specific for this city. The name of meal is Piti. Other meals are also good.
Azer M — Google review
A great find, tried 2 qutabs (one herb, one cheese), the lentil soup and the piti. We have been travelling for 4 months and we think the piti might be the best dish we have had on our trip, a must visit! Also has a stunning view over Sheki
Lizzi H — Google review
It is one of the most well-known restaurants in Sheki, offering an excellent view of the city. The service was fast, and the prices were reasonable. We tried the piti, meat qutab, and lule kebab — all were quite fatty. While piti is traditionally rich, the others could have been lighter. The pomegranate and quince compote, however, was outstanding. Unfortunately, the restrooms were not clean and need better maintenance

Upper Caravanserai

4.6
(78)
Historical landmark
Upper Caravanserai is a restored Silk Road traders' inn located in Sheki, Azerbaijan. It offers the opportunity to sleep in original stone chambers that once accommodated roving merchants. The caravanserai dates back to the 18th century and is considered one of the most beautiful examples in the Caucasus region. Visitors can explore this historic building from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A bit surreal that they had such good places for stay of travellers in ancient times. A three level stone structure with dozens of rooms around a central courtyard which has fountains. A robust wooden door which, in ancient times, was shut at night. Now the second floor is used as a hotel (couldn't visit the rooms). There is a tea shop on the ground floor - wasn't very welcoming. One can walk from the courtyard to a large garden with trees- quite pleasant. Outside there are shops catering to tourists. All in all a lovely place to visit.

Such a wonderful place that takes you back in time, showing how the old inns and caravanserais once were. A true journey into history and culture 🏛️✨

A silk route holding station for the Marchants. Dedicated spaces to store their items can be seen in the photos as under ground floors... This is one of the the resting and selling area in silk route, so important place in the history... Authority has converted the first floor to a Hotel but the ground and basement can be utilized much better way... Hotel room reservation is only at reception, no online services...30 - 50 Manat per night Only 1 Cafe available in ground floor . After few meters in the same road there Is another similar spot named lower caravanserai. Entry is free for the ground floor , bit to first floor only for the hotel residents.

Walking around was nice. The place also functions as a hotel. You are not allowed to go to the 2nd floor as it's meant for the hotel guests. Plenty of nice souvenir shops around.
Gulchohra H — Google review
It was featured in Joanna Lumley's Silk Road Adventure. The building itself is quite historic and you can stay there (second floor). But for a visit it was just OK to be inside a historical place.

Nestled in the charming historic town of Sheki, Sheki Palace Hotel offers a delightful retreat at the foot of the Caucasus mountains. The hotel exudes cozy elegance and provides great hospitality and service. It's conveniently located within walking distance to various historical sites, souvenir shops, and sweet shops. Guests can enjoy exploring lush forests and rolling hills surrounding the area. The hotel's restaurant offers a must-try dish called Shah pilav, while its wine shop hosts free tastings and lectures.
We had stayed in Sheki Palace hotel for 1 night in May 2025, room was good, but in bathroom the bathtub had some leakage. We booked standard triple bed room, hotel location was nice. Probably its the best hotel in sheki, breakfast had lots of veg and non-veg option.
Soumya B — Google review
I booked the hotel looking at the beautiful pictures of the views form this hotel, shared on various review sites. But I had a not so great experience. Despite being a family of 3, we were given a tiny room. The room itself was beautiful but the bathroom could use some repairs. The bathtub was leaking water and I slipped on the wet floor and hurt my foot. In addition to that, The wash basin splatters water, making the floor a wet mess. I am just happy kid was not hurt. We also had to call for a change of linens as we saw some food stains on the bed covers. All in all quite disappointing. Just skip staying here, rather check out the attached restaurant for some phenomenal views and call it a day.

~ The location is good close to many attractions. ~ The staff are very friendly and polite ~ The rooms are basic and have most of what you need. ~ The lights need to be reconsidered. A very strong LED light in bedrooms is not the most comfortable and the side light almost so weak that cannot be used for reading so either a very strong light or very weak. ~ The view is very good ~ The AC works perfectly during the hot days ~ The fridge also was working unlike other hotel working but not cooling this one was working well ~ The cleaners did a perfect job
Hassanein A — Google review
Good location and view from the hotel is beautiful. Rooms and washroom were near and clean. It's not basically a hotel but a family run guest house and the landlady is the focal person there. She served homemade delicious breakfast including boiled eggs, homemade berries jam, peach jam and cheese. Also provided butter and bread. The tea (without milk) was excellent and was very aromatic. Though you might need to insist for the AC if you are there during hot weather.
Fayyaz A — Google review
This is a very lovely place to stay because the Hotel has lots of amenities including indoor pool, spa, fitness center, and complimentary Wi-Fi. It also includes a pretty good restaurant. The atmosphere is really nice because of the blend of traditional architecture. It is very well located being only 50 m from the actual palace. However, probably the thing we enjoyed the most was an early morning walk around the Hotel and surrounding streets & stone walls which really gave us a nice feel for Sheki. I would highly recommend going for a walk as well as enjoying the facilities at the hotel. I have included some photos of what the surrounding area is like.
Ross D — Google review
It was just OK. Our first room reaked of cigarettes so we asked to change, they gave us an attic room which was bigger but the shower was a bathtub under the slanted roof (so we had to either sit or squat in the bathtub and try not to slip) whenever we wanted to shower. There was also no shower curtain. Breakfast was OK but completely packed. We were still eating food and drinking our coffee when the waiter came and asked us to leave to make room for other ppl.
Cheryl L — Google review
Everything’s great but this sign which simply allows the hotel’s staff to steal whatever they want… The stay was good but how can I feel safe here?
Ronny S — Google review
This is no where a 4 star hotel. The rooms are small, the wifi is from 15 years back. You won’t be able to do much with the speed you will get and the loss of connection again and again. No lift for 4th floor so make sure you don’t get a room on that floor. Overall it is not near to the price being charged. I would say a big NO to this place.

Nestled in the charming village of Kish, the Kish Albanian Temple stands as a remarkable testament to history and spirituality. Believed to be the first church in the Caucasus, its origins trace back to 1 AD, with archaeological evidence suggesting that this site has been sacred since 3,000 BC. The temple now serves as a museum dedicated to Caucasian Albania, showcasing fascinating Bronze Age ceramics and ancient graves featuring impressive two-meter-long skeletons.
Small churhc/temple complex now a small museum displaying various objects from local excavation. 9azn per entry, which, for me, is a bit of blood sucking. The staff there are super friendly and easy to have a conversation with.

A historical church in Kish Village near Sheki. We went there by a local bus from Sheki by paying 60 qapik. People were very friendly in the bus and helped us get down to the right spot for the temple. The surrounding area of the temple is beautiful. you can visit the river nearby and the mountain view is amazing. 1 star is less because of the entrance fee to the temple. They should not charge more than 5 Mannat for foreigners.

Local history museum
Located near the palace, the Museum Of History, Ethnography And Local Lore is currently undergoing renovations to become an Art Residence. The renovated building will offer hostel accommodation, co-working spaces, and craft workshops. Adjacent to it is the Craftsmens House, a covered handicraft market where visitors can purchase Shebeke glass panels and other handmade items. The museum houses a wide array of beautiful historical artifacts and offers visitors the opportunity to take a small tour inside the Castle walls in Bir.

Museum
Nestled in the historic first district of Sheki, the Bakhtiyar Vahabzade House Museum is a hidden gem that celebrates the life and legacy of one of Azerbaijan's most revered poets. Just a short stroll from the Khan Palace, this charming museum invites visitors to explore an array of personal artifacts, awards, and manuscripts belonging to Bakhtiyar Vahabzade.
Lovely welcoming staff and a great view of the mountains from this nicely preserved house. The museum was free to visit and had a collection of medals, photographs, awards and prints on display. Note that English language material is limited to one book of translated poems. There's a nice garden with seating and a view. Worth the walk up from the Palace if you want to see an old neighbourhood on the edge of the mountains.

Historical landmark
The Khans Palace Cash Desk is a stunning example of Islamic architecture that's a must-see in Sheki. Nestled in the Caucasus mountains, the palace offers breathtaking views of snowy peaks and lush forests. Inside, intricate paintings on the walls depict historical events, making it a fascinating research subject for history enthusiasts. It's truly a remarkable historical site to explore.

Shebeke Workshop

5.0

Artistic handicrafts
Shebeke Workshop in Sheki is a place where skilled artisans practice the traditional art of creating intricate mosaics from wooden lattices and colored glass pieces. This centuries-old craft, once reliant on imported Italian glass, involves assembling stunning designs without the use of glue or nails. Visitors can witness craftsmen like Tofig, who have inherited their expertise from previous generations, meticulously working on these ornate windows and architectural decorations.
Sheki’s most eye-catching craft, shebeke, is an art of creating stunning mosaics from wooden lattices fitted with thousands of tiny pieces of coloured glass (which used to be brought all the way from Italy) and held together without glue or nails. Commonly applied to windows and other architectural ornaments, the centuries-old art is still practised by some Sheki craftsmen whose skills have been inherited from their ancestors. Several of them offer masterclasses in the Sheki Fortress: one works in the shebeke workshop near the Khan’s Palace which is the best place to observe shebeke being made. The others work in the House of Craftsmen

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Galarsan-Gorarsan Fortress, dating back to the 8th-9th centuries, is a historical gem surrounded by architectural and archaeological wonders like caravanserais, the Juma Mosque, Gileilin Minaret, and medieval baths. The fortress is accessible via a steep 15-minute hike with clear trails but not suitable for children due to its isolated and potentially dangerous nature. Visitors can enjoy stunning views from the top of the castle after a challenging yet rewarding ascent.
We walked all the way from Albanian church in Kis to Galarsan - Gorarsan fortress, it was a wonderful walk and hike. The last part was really fun and too steep. If you want adventure give it a try. The whole area was amazingly quiet and beautiful
Ali — Google review
The fortress is circa 15-18min drive from Sheki city centre. Last ~1.5km of the road is off road. There is small parking at the end of the off road road and also there is small restaurant to rest and have some tea, etc. Once road finishes you need to hike for 400-500m to fortress. But then difficult part starts once you reach the fortress. Its very steep to climb to fortress. Do not reccomend for elderly people and families with small kids. Its even very difficult to climb down the fortress. However, its worth the view. The view from the top of the fortress is amazing. Please allow 30-40mins if you plan to climb up the fortress.

Nice & beautiful place. Nice hiking place for beginners.
Wagee — Google review
Took a taxi from Kis (7 manat) to a small restaurant/guest house at the end of the road near the fort. It's just a 10-15 min quite steep hike from there. View is nice but not spectacular. The fort is very run down and thus it is a bit hard to imagine it how it used to be. But still it was worth it.
Toni V — Google review
The view from the fort makes the hike worth it. Amazing views for a long way, the last section of the hike is quite steep but manageable. Using a good map is recommended
Jack B — Google review
Very interesting place for visit. There is a beautiful view of the mountains.
Edvin G — Google review
It's about a 15 min upward hike to the ruins. The hike is steep so wear proper hiking boots. The trail is clear and easy to follow. Do not bring kids, it's dangerous. It is an isolated spot so you'll likely have the ruins to yourself when you go. There are great views especially from the top of the castle.
Sadia F — Google review
Park your car next to the guest house and then hike up towards the castle. Make sure to follow the small sign board which is easy to pass by and it will lead you to a path towards the castle wall. Special needs people need to be aware that its doable but difficult so be careful and have fun!

Issam Hotel & Spa

Hotel
Issam Hotel & Spa is a charming accommodation in Sheki, offering 17 standard and 2 deluxe rooms designed for up to 3 people. The hotel features a Health and Recreation Center, including a spa and sauna for guests to enjoy. Additionally, there is private underground parking available. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as the SOFI book house managed by young intellectuals. Guests have praised the hospitable staff, comfortable beds, clean facilities, and convenient location of the hotel.
Very cosy hotel! Staff is hospitable! Nice spa and sauna! It has a parking garage which is great if you travel in cold and snowy weather. Hope you will enjoy your travel in Sheki! Cheers
Mustafa A — Google review
You sure get a good impression walking into the lobby with the white grand piano in the center. The proprietor insisted that all the rooms were the same size but that's just not the case. The first room they gave me had something blocking the window so I asked to switch to a room with a view and the two alternate rooms I was shown were smaller. Like a three-star rating implies, it was okay, but with a superior breakfast. They offer a big indoor pool with just the right water temperature but I didn't swim.
Mark L — Google review
The room is okay, the breakfast is alright, nothing to crazy though. The service is good and kind, so no problems whatsoever. But the "& Spa" is just a joke. One tiny little sauna that is not really hot. No relax area at all. Showers are super basic. The gym is half broken. Only some dumbbells and one barbell work. Opens all only after 5pm....
Valentin P — Google review
Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. The room smelt like body odour, and was clearly in desperate need of some TLC. The "gym" was dirty, with most of the equipment either broken or rusting, and no air-conditioning. The pool, which we had hoped to enjoy, was completely overrun with school groups and locals, making it impossible to use. Overall, the property fell well below expectations and we would not return.
Sam — Google review
Poorly maintained hotel , not that clean. Rooms are very small , location is also quite poor and claustrophobic . Staff is not professional, they forgot to collect charges for spa at the time of check out, and then sent a guy on taxi to collect bill. And charged the taxi fare from me. Breakfast is okay.
Hassan I — Google review
this is supposed to be a four star hotel. 1. the shower is very small with a flimsy curtain so the floor/toilet becomes wet and slippery. the shower head direction can't be adjusted so it either goes horizontally toward the shower curtain or the wall. 2. the staff didn't clean our room and lied about until I showed them the room was not tidy at all. we ran out of toilet paper. 3. the receptionist didn't speak any English. 4. when we checked in, they said there is massage service until midnight every day, but when we checked around 9pm, they said the masseuse hasn't been coming at all. 5. it's not close to town at all. you either have to walk 25 min or take a cab. 6. my roommate asked the reception to call a taxi for her and was told that she can just join their cab since they were leaving work anyway. turned out it was just their dad picking them up from work but they charged her anyway, at an even higher rate than regular taxi.
