Architectural Buildings
The Great Belt Bridge is an impressive 18km-long structure that connects the islands of Zealand and Funen in Denmark. It incorporates a stunning suspension bridge, often compared to the elegance of the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and is a popular route for road travel, with an option for discounted toll prices using BroBizz.
The biggest hanging bridge between Fyn and Sjælland. You can also take railroad trip aswell as motor traffic. It’s an amazing bridge I wished weather was better to take better pics and videos but since not so ;( . If you don’t want to stick in line by paying so it’s best idea get Brobizz and register nummer plate and past faster . For now it’s costing to use bridge and it’s little expensive but after 30 years of made dato will be free as they saying ✌️
Emre U — Google review
Ludicrously Expensive. You have to treat this as an attraction, I.e. an experience that you're paying for. As such, enjoy the view, get your passengers to take photos, and if you can, head to the free parking at the Isbådsmuseet on the Sjælland side to get a different view. We took our car from Scotland, so we had the unique experience of a rare RHD going over. 230kr. One way, though (£26 GBP). At that price, I wouldn't like it to be my regular commute.
L E — Google review
First thing - it's quite expensive, 230DKK is nothing cheap for simple bridge you will pass in few minutes. But it is good shortcut and interesting landmark. You can stop by next of some small (free) boat museum and enjoy the view, if you don't have rainy weather like we did.
Václav S — Google review
Adore it — Storebæltsbroen is more than an engineering icon — it cut travel time across Denmark by over an hour and symbolically united the country’s eastern and western regions. The eastern suspension bridge carries rail and road decks on separate levels, with cables containing ~18k individual steel wires—enough to circle the Earth nearly four times. Each pylon stands on caissons sunk into the seabed with millimeter accuracy, built to endure winds of 80 m/s and ship collisions up to 300000 tons.
Iryna K — Google review
I have used the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark a few times, which connects Zealand and Fyn islands. It's an incredible piece of architecture with stunning sea views. Spanning a total of 18 km, it's the longest bridge in the region. If you use BroBizz, you can get a discounted toll price. Driving across at 110 km/h, the experience is truly enjoyable with breathtaking panoramic views. Highly recommend for anyone driving between the islands!
Rakesh J — Google review
07/19/2025@10:00 pm: Payment Impossible, no service contact available and no one takes care of toll gates. Police had to be called because service number was not operating at night. Total mess other direction one toll gate got destroyed. Due to it is not foreseen for foreigners to pay other than by card or by cash a long trafic jam was resulted. This is tourist unfriendly because other toll gates support online based pre-paid systems. Additional confusion because payments randomly only worked after double payment and following vehicles were confused if to go or stay and ask police if to pass unpaid or wait. In case of an emergency the non working payment systems could cause a potential security risc from resulted traffic jams because in case of emergency help will arrive with a long delay. Think over and change it!

Cheapest way to drive from Germany to Norway is over this bridge. You get a beautiful view of the country
Irena N — Google review
The Great Belt Bridge is a multi-element fixed link crossing the Great Belt strait between the Danish islands of Zealand and Funen. It consists of a road suspension bridge and a railway tunnel in the middle of the Great Belt, and a box-girder bridge for both road and rail traffic. The total length is 18 kilometres.

Isbådsmuseet is a small costless museum that showcases ice ships and the ferry traffic across the Great Belt. Visitors can view some of the ice ships along with informative plaques displaying pictures that narrate their history. The premises also provide restroom facilities and offer a magnificent vantage point to admire Storebaeltsbroen, the impressive bridge connecting different regions.
We were driving from Holstebro to Copenhagen and stopped for an early dinner. We had been recommended to visit the museum by friends who had passed previously. Its a great wee museum with fascinating stories and photography, and the boats on show are in such good condition, considering their stories. The setting next to the bridge is also so impressive and seems great for fishing. Interesting for kids and adults alike and it's free with a suggested donation.

This was a quick little look through of the history of the area and boats. There was a special focus on winter I feel! Free entrance but donations welcome. It had good info and pictures. A bit chilly in the building. The toilets on the outside of the building were big and clean. Plenty of parking next to the building.

A small free museum about the ice ships and ferry traffic across the Great Belt. Some of the ice ships are on display and plaques with pictures tell the story. There is a toilet on site and a great view of the Storebæltsbroen.

Granskoven Strand is a stunning beach that offers an idyllic escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. This is a genuinely beautiful beach, good well signed parking and plenty of trails to walk - amazing views of the The Great Belt Bridge, come at sunset for a particularly magical view across the great belt. The beach was extremely clean with plenty of friendly families and dog walkers.

I was present at a conference held at the Borreby Herreborg performing arts theater, but unfortunately, it was disappointing that visitors were not allowed to explore the castle itself. However, the venue did offer excellent cuisine and an enjoyable entertainment show. Looking forward to returning next year for another remarkable experience!

The Viking Fortress Trelleborg

4.5

Historical place
Trelleborg is a reconstructed Viking fortress that offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of the Vikings. With no entrance fee, visitors are welcomed by multilingual staff and can explore artifacts showcasing the impressive skills of the ancient inhabitants. The site also hosts Viking festivals with combat demonstrations, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in this historic era. Surrounding signs provide historical context, making it an interesting and educational destination for history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike.
What a fantastic location... I have seen lots of stuff similar in Scotland but this is a little bit better...First of all the entrance fee...There isn't one !!!!! This is definitely in the year 22 hardly anywhere...I was very surprised. Inside we got a warm welcome from a lady behind the desk who not only spoke German but English aswell ...The Artifacts that are displayed are interesting and quite surprising sometimes as they demonstrate great skills in making and using. My kids 3 girls and my boy loved dressing up as Vikings ....and we had a good laugh and took some funny pics ....you guys can look at them later..... I can recommend this Viking museum for all ages....you can also book events here. Anyway I give it TEN STARS and wish everyone a nice day out with the Family.

Fantastic to be back again after many years. We went to the place with Australian friends visiting Denmark and even if it was winter season we all had a good experience.

Really amazing UNESCO heritage site. Viking village/forteress, with earthen ring walls. Archeologists have searched and found shield, burials, etc, huge viking long houses are outline on the ground and one has been built as a recreation. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.
Brian G — Google review
Excellent site to visit and enjoy a Viking Festival, with real groups that train combat for shows. There is all kind of combats: swords, spears, bows and arrow, horseback archery, etc. There is the real site where the Viking houses were, the "big house" and many houses and tents when people go to the Festival to live as Viking for some days. 100% recommended to assist to a Viking Festival in your visit to the Nordic countries!!
Roberto H — Google review
Great place, nice museum but very rude personal. We arrived 1 hour before the closing and took our time. When we came to the Viking village at 16:30 a staff in front of us closed the door and just told us it is closed. And if this part is closed at 16:00 why the reception does not say it and advice to start by this?
Philippe — Google review
Very atmospheric, we were a bit lucky to be around for the viking festival. Still very interesting without festival folk but they definitely made it into an experience.
Andrew C — Google review
Great place, good value for money, lovely informative "Vikings" available and free tour.
Trailing R — Google review
“Danmark…The frozen North recalls the time of Vikings. Around 1000 A.D., this rude race sailed a great many seas, pillaged the coasts of Europe and even penetrated into Spain and Italy. One of the best known reconstructed Viking camps is TRELLEBORG, a circular fortress with 31 wooden “long-houses”, surrounded by a system of ditches and ramparts. Awaiting their sea voyages, more than 1500 soldiers-some with their spouses and children - were stationed here. It is said that the Vikings discovered North America during their voyages in the year 801.” - MINI-EUROPE

Vestsjællandscentret is a small but charming shopping mall located close to downtown Slagelse. Despite its size, it offers a good variety of stores and has a pleasant design. The center features an indoor square that often hosts new entertainment options like mini-golf or playgrounds for children. While the selection of shops may be limited, it still provides most essentials, including a supermarket.

Really like to visite this place even if not to buy anything, just to look at their new entertainment inside, use it to get warm when feeling cold from outside, use it as a shortcut. And the smell of the different food combine from when stepping inside, coffee, fresh bread, so on.

It's a shopping mall. It has a good diversity in shops, and it's quite nicely designed. Has a sort of square in the middle with new fun things all the time, like mini golf or a playground for the kids.
Mathias E — Google review
Nice little mall, has a good selection of stores and is close to the downtown of Slagelse. The mall is a little dated and there could be a bigger selection of shops, but nontheless it is pretty decent for a city the size of Slagelse.

(Translated by Google) On 20 July 2018, four of us wanted some cake and coffee in Madhus Bælt's place. Unfortunately, there was only one cake left in the display case and there was nothing else edible. But fortunately we had some buns in the car, which we could then eat with the coffee - but the lady behind the counter could immediately inform us that we were not allowed to eat food we had brought, despite the fact that she had nothing to offer - oops. We bought some waffle ice cream instead - for the coffee, which in addition to being very expensive, was also quite undrinkable. A thoroughly bad experience at this place, which however gets a star for the good weather and the nice view over the water. Deserterne hel unik. Forsætter de denne gode stil vil det klart blive populært landet over. 👍

Day 2

North side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Trelleborg - Museum of the Viking Age, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Lystanlægget Slagelse. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Trelleborg - Museum of the Viking Age is a fascinating destination that offers a glimpse into Viking life and culture. The museum showcases excavated objects from the Viking Age, features a reconstructed house from that era, and presents the archaeological ring castle. Visitors can explore Denmark's well-preserved Viking ring fortress dating back to the 10th century and learn about its history. The site also offers engaging workshops for children, making it an ideal family-friendly attraction.
Perfect place for the costume Wedding - we have had it on the Weekend. Storyteller of the guided tour is a dream - has answered all even stupid our questions, all the stuff is very pleasant, games outside are interesting and funny (group of the children has had a birthday party there at the same time and have had a fun - so much they were laughing).

Glad i had a picnic basket 🧺, with me. Food and drinks were a bit pricey. Otherwise gr8 place to visit. Always humbling to remember WHAT you came from.

Here is one of the best outdoor museums that I have visited in my life. On the other hand, I had already read about the origin of the place before my visit there and it made my experience much higher. That's why, I recommend all to visit there with knowledge about the region's history. One of the best places to visit in Denmark, in my opinion.

Went there during the Viking Festival. It was really awesome. Hundreds were in costume, there were battle recreations, You could see and make craft items, learn new Viking skills. With Viking coins buy jewellery, craft, wooden swords and shields, lots of things. Or just wonder around the encampment and talk to the settlers and just learn.
Cuong S — Google review
Interesting museum and recreation of Viking structures, couldn’t believe that it was free to enter. Not much left to see of the original settlement other than the mounds, but they do a great job of helping visitors to visualize what it may have been like.

(Translated by Google) A lovely little museum. The craftsmen's houses are beautifully done. The exhibition on the resistance movement is a bit too limited for me. Unfortunately, the signage is only in Danish and English. There are about six free parking spaces in front of the museum. (Original) Ein schönes kleines Museum. (Translated by Google) That place is definitely worth a visit! An incredible amount of work has been put into the exhibitions "shadow warriors", and the workshops that were in H. C. Andersen's time An absolutely incredible effort that in such a relatively small museum, they have managed to put together such a well-functioning and exciting exhibition ❤️ Thank you to all of you who have contributed GREAT GREAT work! Restaurant Siang Jiang is a Chinese restaurant located at Rosengarden 1, 4200 Slagelse, Danmark. It's known for offering a wide variety of delicious treats including fresh fruits, vegetables, and baked goods. The restaurant is praised for its extensive buffet with great sushi and Danish food options. Customers appreciate the friendly staff and the option to earn a free buffet through their fidelity card.
The food was good, i was hungrier than I realised and went back for more, a few times :-) Beef, sushi, shrimp, wow, really well done. Family atmosphere, clean and fresh, I'd go back anytime.

Good food and very very nice service. It has been four years we passed by and ate at this restaurant on our way to Lego land. The food has always been good quality. The owner and staff there warmly welcomed us every time. Today we came with three kids, we accidentally spilled two glasses of drinks. The staffs there were very patient cleaning up for us. ❤️

A great place to dine with an excellent public spirit. At the end of days trading, surplus food is distributed to the less advantaged of the town. Waste reduction at it's best!

(Translated by Google) I have tried their smørrebrød, their burger and French fries, and in the evening I tried cold roast beef with cold potato salad. My wife had the schnitzel with fries. And everything has been perfect and incredibly delicious. So if you are in Slagelse and need delicious food quickly, Grill-letten is the place. The downside is that there may well be a queue when you enter from the street, so a good idea is to find the grill on Facebook and order food before you arrive. The food I have had has been good and the large portion the price is quite fair, especially when you see the large portion you get. It can be difficult to pack right in front of the grill, but it is clearly worth a walk (Original) Jeg har prøvet deres smørrebrød, deres burger og pomfritter, og har til aften prøvede jeg kold Roastbeef med kold kartoflesalat.
