Nestled in vast woodland and parkland, National Trust - Scotney Castle offers a picturesque blend of castle ruins, a Victorian mansion, and beautiful gardens. Visitors can explore the 14th century moated castle and enjoy scenic trails through the estate. The surrounding area also boasts charming village shops, dining options, and other attractions such as Sissinghurst Castle's gardens.
A beautiful and peaceful place to visit! Scotney Castle has stunning views, romantic ruins, and lovely gardens that change with the seasons. The old castle by the lake is magical, and the walks around the estate are relaxing. Great for nature lovers, photographers, and families. Nice tea room and free parking for National Trust members. Highly recommend!

Beautiful scenery and gardens, lots to see in the castle grounds and the House is amazing. From the house to the castle is a little downhill uphill challenging for those with walking issues but it is worth it! Plenty of seating/benches dotted around if you need a little rest and plenty of seating in the food area. We had a very enjoyable time.
Samantha W — Google review
Beautiful castle with nice gardens you can walk around. Lots of seating areas outside along with benches to sit on as you walk around. There are public toilets a book shop a souvenir shop and ice cream stall along with lots of parking and knowledgeable staff members in different rooms of the house to answer any questions.

Amost interesting place, so much to see...and lovely walks around estate. Walled garden in car park full of colour and some pumpkins. Hexagonal in shape and easy to walk around. Inside house reflective of being lived in and each room had costumes on display as worn by previous owners which reflects alot of achieved acquisitions not normally seen. Walk to ruin castle steep but rewarded by good views. Dont miss boat house if you are sandman fans as thus part of estate was cain and ables home! 40 min lake walk good path and easy 2 mile walk. Quarry quirky where stone for building house came from. Dont miss cat on fountain at back of house.... We thought grounds better than sissinghurst. Oh yes no toilets at bottom of hill by ruin. So make sure you go at top!! The painting in dining room of dwarves Hunting worth a muse and comment as so unusual in any old property . Volunteers most tolerant of me telling them about sandman as not many knew much about it!! Last tip house/ castle/ grounds all shut at different times so check if going for pist lunch visit.

We love visiting Scotney Castle with its beautiful house and dramatic looking castle in the valley down below! First stop though of course is always the cafe for a lovely breakfast snack and drink. Upon entering the property, all staff members were excellent at telling us anything there was to know about each room with their vast knowledge. We then took a walk around the grounds enjoying the scenery and views of the castle. We would always return and recommend anyone to visit! It may be recommended to book parking, as we found out upon arrival that without prior arrangement you have to park in the additional parking section.
Greg I — Google review
This a beautiful Victorian mansion house with views over an even more beautiful estate that leads down to a ruined medieval castle. There was a real bounty of flowers at this time of year and the flowers in the walled garden were spectacular. Nice cafe, shop and second hand bookstore. Well worth a visit.
Steven A — Google review
A beautiful old castle and house with stunning gardens. Nice tearooms as well. Would highly recommend pre booking parking if needed.

We had a fantastic visit to Scotney Castle. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with stunning views, peaceful gardens, and the romantic ruins of the old castle. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxing walk or a little photography. A wonderful day out 😊

Nestled on the border of Kent and East Sussex, Bewl Water is a picturesque reservoir that offers a perfect blend of land and water activities for families. Surrounded by verdant woodlands, this expansive area features over 12 miles of scenic walking paths ideal for both leisurely strolls and energetic hikes. For those seeking adventure, Bewl Water boasts an inflatable obstacle course at its aqua park along with various water sports like windsurfing, sailing, and canoeing—all easily bookable online.
Bewl Water Reservoir is a fantastic spot for outdoor activities all year round. The 6-mile walk around the reservoir offers stunning scenery, making it perfect for hiking with family, friends, or dogs. There’s plenty of parking and a café at the center for a nice break. We visited during Christmas and were delighted by the festive atmosphere, with lots of fun activities for kids and families. In the summer, it’s ideal for kayaking, water sports, or simply enjoying the beautiful landscape. A peaceful, welcoming place with plenty of greenery – highly recommend!

I came here with my family for a sunny day outside and we thought it could have been nice spending it near a lake (or reservoir). Well, it was an amazing idea. The reservoir is huge and so the park. I guess we probably saw 2% of it. But it was already sufficient to have great fun and enjoy the playground, the million of bluebells all around, the picnic. My kids loved it, too. There's a big car park to pay with ring go. Then you get to the main facility with a wide area to buy food with tables indoors and outdoors and a beautiful view on the lake. There's even a mini golf and a climbing wall. Then you have this green slope towards the lake with a big wooden boat as entrance to the playground. The main attraction was the huge slide. I think my kids spent an hour there! I don't know what the rest of the park can offer, but I saw you can hire some boats or board to get into the lake. It totally deserves a visit!

Bewl Water is a beautiful and peaceful place to spend the day. It’s perfect for family picnics with kids as well as couples looking for a quiet outing. The lake views are stunning, the fresh air is refreshing, and there’s plenty of space to relax or take a walk. A wonderful spot to unwind, enjoy nature, and create special memories together.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A magical spot to connect with nature Bewl Water is absolutely beautiful! The lake is stunning 😍 surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery that made me fall in love instantly. Everything was clean and well maintained, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The car park is very spacious, including lots of disabled bays, and it only costs around £8 for the whole day (paid via Ringo) very reasonable. There are clean toilets on site and a lovely cafe with gorgeous views over the lake, perfect for a little break. One of the best surprises of the day was discovering the dog wash station! I was able to give my pup Santiago 🐾 a proper bath for just £7 😁 it costs £3.50 for 3 minutes and it's totally worth it 💷 I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a peaceful escape with beautiful views, great facilities, and a dog friendly atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!

Had a wonderful few hours riding the circular route around Bewl Water country park. Despite dam relief work ongoing, it doesn’t affect the experience. The trail is through woodland and open meadow, giving views across the water and occasionally taking to quiet country roads. The footpath is around 13 miles of effort. As I was cycling my trip meter registered around 16 mile due to not being able to follow the footpath. Some areas are cycle free. The route was well maintained and dry with only a couple of wet patches with streams, run off from fields etc. But after a tiring ride I was glad that the Coffee shop was open. I went on a quiet midweek day but I can see Bewl Water getting busy on bank holidays. There’s plenty of nature to see as well. Plants, birds, insects, a whole spectrum of wildlife.
Allan R — Google review
Very nice experience with good quality bikes. I got lost once or twice but it just made the adventure more rememberable. The bikes were very easy to work with and the gears changed with a click of a button. Very nice scenery 10/10 would recommend
Ali B — Google review
13 mile walk including detour to the Bull at Ticehurst. Recommend going anticlockwise around lake as this has more hilly sections on lane without a view, so better to finish with the prettier side! Good cafe on site with dog washing facilities.
Natalie R — Google review
Bewl Water is a nice location for a decent walk. Whenever I've gone I've always done the full loop, which is about 13 miles. A small part of the walk leaves the reservoir edge and diverts through some country lanes. These can be quite steep if you're not used to hills, but overall the rest of the walk is nice and flat. Some parts could do with additional signposts, but generally it's easy to stay on track. There is a centre with cafe and play park, mini golf etc. And there is also an inflatable water park too. There is plenty of parking, although it's a little expensive for the day, (£8.50 at time of writing). This is a lovely walk and one I always enjoy.

ODEON Tunbridge Wells is a modern cinema offering the latest blockbusters in both 2-D and 3-D formats, with special deals for families and students. It provides a great opportunity for adults to relax while kids enjoy the big screen experience. The cinema has been commended for its wheelchair accessibility, with helpful staff and ample parking available. While some visitors have noted that wheelchair seating is limited and positioned close to the screen, they appreciate the assistance provided by staff.
Very nice place. Comfortable seats. And nice and organised corridors. Very easy to get tickets. Staff are very nice. One of the best cinemas I’ve been too.
Akira W — Google review
Comfortable chairs, good surround sound. Helpful, polite staff. Theatres have always been clean and well maintained. Parking available. One star less because of the snacks in the kiosk. The popcorn albeit expensive, is almost always stale.
Merine A — Google review
Great staff, plenty of friendly faces upon entry. Delicious food served but WAY OVERPRICED, which is why 4 stars and not 5 ha. Insane to spend a 2 course restaurant price, for a cheap tinned hot dog and essentially plain crisps and dip.
AM W — Google review
I took 4 grandchildren screen 5 row G 1-6. Impossible to see the full screen in the first 3 seats even as an adult, or as child on a booster seat. Restricted view should be made clear when purchasing tickets. Spoke to lovely member of staff who could only offer booster seats as fully booked. Disappointing
Kim W — Google review
Cinema is always a great shout for a rainy day ☔🎬 Decent choice of snacks – a bit on the pricey side, but that’s cinema... 🍿💸 Absolutely loving the upgraded new seats – super comfy and a definite upgrade! 🛋️ Good spot for a chilled afternoon or evening.
Rasa J — Google review
Good cinema with decent picture and sound quality. Comfortable seats and a variety to choose from in some screens. A good amount of snacks are available too.
Steve A — Google review
Good modern cinema. Lots of terminals for booking your seats and you can use Meerkat Movies at these terminals. Screens are good. The comfort is good enough, but the parking can be a bit confusing. Recommend it
Charles F — Google review
It’s a good theatre run by keen efficient helpful staff. But the films they show are not that great! Perhaps they should also screen uptodate Bollywood and Tamil films as there is a large Asian diaspora living close! Most have Netflix, Amazon and Sky so latest films woukd get theatre goers!

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's is a beloved fast-food institution that has stood the test of time, renowned for its iconic burgers and crispy fries. I often find myself stopping by this particular McDonald's in Tunbridge Wells, especially in the mornings when I'm looking for a quick breakfast fix. My go-to order is the egg and cheese muffin meal, which never disappoints—always hot, freshly made, and just as I expect it to be.
Honestly… I just had a Big Mac and WOW. I don’t know what they did today but it SLAPPED. Like, this is the best Big Mac I’ve had in years. The bun was soft, the lettuce was crisp, the sauce was saucing, and the beef actually tasted fresh. It was so good I considered going back for a second one, and I’m not even ashamed. McDonald’s, keep doing whatever you did today.
Bradlee C — Google review
This is not a good place to go to eat in. The service and atmosphere is terrible. It takes ages to get served as they prioritize the drive thru and deliver orders. When you do get served often things with your order will be wrong. If you do go at least sit upstairs. When I last went the app failed to work, I had to wait ages to speak to a manager to correct it and then after waiting ages again they couldn't even assemble my burger correctly!! Update 22/01/25 went during a week day and it's a better experience. Quicker service. Beware when ordering on the machines though, as some do not give you a receipt with your collection number. Luckily, I dare the number before or disappeared from the screen. The staff don't ask for the receipt.
Joe W — Google review
Absolutely terrible, spent £38 in the drive through. The bag was packed with all the chips on top so couldn't count it as a queue behind me. Get home 30 minutes later and they missed my big mac and chicken nuggets. Too late to go driving all the way back and after calling them no less than 40 times over an hour not a single answer of the phone. Effectively stealing £10 from me. Unbelievable.
Joe P — Google review
Dreadful experience . Arrived and told we had to wait . We parked up and waited 20 mins . The food came out cold . On top of that the window was serving people after us ( why did we have to wait ) . The drinks arrived 30 minutes later . Wrong size coffee . Had to take back for a large toffee latte. Nothing special we order routine big Mac meals and a quarter pounder . Chips were cold .
Teresa P — Google review
Was asked 4 times to repeat my order. Order was correct once received. Why not ask once at one window, then pay and receive order so traffic melee can sort itself and get where it needs to go? Drive thru should be efficient.
Tiffany L — Google review
I visit this McDonald’s quite often as it's close to home, usually in the mornings when I’m nearby or just want a quick breakfast. I almost always order the egg and cheese muffin meal. The food is consistent—hot, freshly made, and exactly what I expect. The hash browns are usually crisp, and the coffee is decent. One of the things I appreciate about this McD in Tunbridge Wells is that it’s usually calm and not too noisy or crowded, even during busier hours. It makes the experience more pleasant than some other fast food places. The staff are quick and efficient, and they clean up after customers quickly, which keeps the dining area tidy. There’s usually plenty of parking available, so it’s easy to stop by without hassle. The drive-thru can get busy, especially on weekday mornings, so sometimes there’s a longer wait there. That said, I’ve never really had to wait long when dining inside. Orders are typically prepared fast and correctly. Overall, this McDonald’s is a convenient and dependable option when I’m in the area. Although the food prices have gone up steeply in the last year, it’s one of the better locations I’ve been to when I’m looking for a quick and decent breakfast.
Merine A — Google review
25 minutes wait for our breakfast. No jam with the muffin, had to ask. Then realised no syrup with the pancakes. Asked a member of staff as they walked past our table. She didn't bother to bring any to the table. This was supposed to be a treat. Far from it.
Jake G — Google review
Chips were cold, barely cooked (very pale) and not salted. Usually you know what you're getting with McDonalds - it's fast food but you can rely on the chips being hot and seasoned & the burgers are usually a 5/10 - not here though.... It has to be the worst McD I have been to.

Pub

Nestled in the picturesque Kent countryside, The Vineyard is a delightful 17th-century village pub that exudes charm with its exposed beams and inviting fireplace. This historic gem, located amidst beautiful vineyards in Lamberhurst, is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic English dining experience. The extensive Sunday menu features mouthwatering roasts like beef, lamb, and pork, along with vegetarian and gluten-free options. A portion of the proceeds even supports local schools promoting healthy eating!
This pub has a lovely atmosphere and a huge outdoor garden which is perfect for a summers day! The menu features a wide range of different cuisines sure to suit anyone’s taste as well as pub classics such as pies, fish and chips and steaks. I would definitely recommend eating here, they can accommodate groups of any size; we were a group of 10 and were easily seated although I would recommend booking in advance, particularly during the summer months as the outside tables can get busy

I came here last night with my friends, where we sat outside. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, giving me a box to take my pizza home when I was too full to finish it. The pizza itself was an ideal size, neither too big nor too small, not to mention delicious. I will be coming here again and recommend this pub for all ages. Many thanks.

Visited for Lunch with a large group of families following a morning at Bewl Water. Food was a great selection of pizza's plus more typical pub lunch fair. Chicken and Ham pie was excellent and the pizzas I saw all looked great also. Top service from Al who looked after our group and accommodated all requests and changes with a nice easy manner. Lots of parking also made for a stress free visit. Would thoroughly recommend if you're in the area.

Great service, the staff are attentive and friendly. We originally sat outside in the patio area but it became too cold for my elderly parents, so they managed to get us inside as soon as a table left. The food was delicious, we had a couple of Easter specials and two dishes off main menu, all great and would 100% come again. It’s a very pretty place to sit outside and enjoy the sun, when it’s warmer.

Convenient location as we dropped by after visiting Scotney Castle, 5 mins drive. Decent size car park but can be filled up quickly on the weekends. We enjoyed a delicious pizza and tomato salad in a relaxed atmosphere. We are served by Lucy who is friendly and attentive. There are lots of outdoor & indoor seating, nice ambiance with cheerful music. Will be returning.

Came on a Thursday evening. Pizzas were burnt to a crisp underneath. Told a member of staff who just said 'ok, i will tell the kitchen'. Half the Pizza was almost inedible. Kids area was great though, probably a one off bad experience but would expect better response from staff or even an apology.
Rob T — Google review
Didn't stay overnight so can't comment on rooms, but restaurant area was large and busy - glad we booked a table! Really pleased they accommodated us for just starters and desserts as they give generous portion sizes.
Vicki E — Google review
Plus sides are that it has a huge car park and the location is lovely, seating area is beautiful altho we had to go inside as got attacked by lots of wasps. Went here for a 50th birthday lunch with a friend, waitress was lovely, we chose a set 3 course meal for £27 which sounded like a bargain as felt the rest of the menu was quite expensive, i had fishcake for starter which was lovely, but sadly my main of salmon, new potatoes and broccili, didnt taste like it had been seasoned and had barely any potatoes and the broccoli was raw. Can, however, highly recommend the biscotti cheesecake for pudding. We had 2 rounds of spritzers to celebrate my birthday, a tea and a coffee, and got handed a bill of £125 :-( which includes a 12.5% service charge. I wanted to give a glowing review as the place is stunning but sadly the prices charged dont reflect the quality, which was disappointing.

Thackeray's Restaurant is an elegant dining establishment located in the former home of renowned Victorian novelist William Makepeace Thackeray. The restaurant offers a delectable selection of traditional French cuisine, curated by head chef Patrick Hill. With a warm and relaxed atmosphere set in a building over 300 years old, Thackeray's provides various menus ranging from casual lunch options to an extravagant chef's tasting menu.
Located centrally , I had the most interesting lunch experience! Thackeray ‘s has a very homely feel with excellent service! The restaurant is very generous with complimentary starters & deserts! My stater was amazing & so was my mains! The coffee was excellent & I was pleasantly surprised that alternative milk was available! A must go if In Tunbridge Wells!

Spot on. Could be a Michelin starred restaurant really. Great service, superb wine selection and delicious seasonal tasting meals that don't cost the world. Some nice private dining spaces upstairs, too. Only drawback is the rigmarole trying to get parked.
Julia L — Google review
The food was wonderful, the service was top notch and the location was beautiful. However I give it an overall 4 star as I felt sometimes that the dishes were a tad small for the price tag. We were 2 people and our bill came to £300 and we only had 2 x the chef’s tasting menu and 2 glasses of wine (not even a bottle) as we were driving. The raspberry soufflé is one of the best I’ve ever tried and definitely the one that will make this visit memorable.

Location: 5/5 Thackeray’s is in a great spot in Tunbridge Wells, and since we walked there, it was easy to access. The building itself is a landmark, adding a sense of history and character before you even step inside. Ambience: 4/5 The atmosphere is relaxed, with nicely spaced-out tables that allow for a comfortable dining experience. However, some of the artwork on the walls felt a bit out of place—generic rather than adding to the overall mood of the restaurant. Service: 5/5 The team was young, friendly, and very accommodating. We asked for extra focaccia, and not only did they bring it, but they also added extra butter without us even asking. A small but thoughtful touch. They also packed up some of our leftover dessert to take home, which was appreciated. Food & Drinks: 4.5/5 Everything was high quality and beautifully presented. While there wasn’t one particular dish that stood out at first, the ginger tiramisu was an absolute highlight. As a tiramisu fan, I’ve tried many variations, but this was my first time having it with ginger—an unexpected but brilliant twist. We had a mix of beer, cocktails, and wine, all of which complemented the meal well. Extras: 5/5 Since we were celebrating a birthday, the team surprised us with a mini birthday cake and a card signed by the team. A small detail, but it made a big impact and added to the special experience. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Thackeray’s. The service, setting, and food all came together for a memorable meal. It’s a place we’d happily return to.

Delightful family lunch meal on a Saturday. Top nosh/notch with amazingly professional service: unobtrusive, friendly and alert staff. I had two starters which were just perfect (as I was skipping dessert) though the set menu was also a wonderful option at a great price. Their tasting menu with optional accompanying flight of wines looks deadly serious and absolutely delicious, but sadly a little out of my budget (for now 😢). Highly recommended.
Steve S — Google review
Had a excellent dinner yesterday evening. We went for the 5 course tasting menu for £48pp, plus free amuse bouche, and it was superb. Will definitely return, great spot for a celebration.

Incredible, first of all the team here were wonderful, attentive, engaging and meticulous! We had a private dining room for an event, the bubbles and canapés were divine to start the evening. The meal was expertly cooked, delicious and we couldn't help but try everything! A great atmosphere with an incredible selection of wine, thank you for a wonderful evening, you made it very special!

Shopping mall
Shopping
Royal Victoria Place is a bright and spacious indoor shopping center featuring well-known chain stores, a food hall, and a children's play area. However, the mall currently suffers from numerous unoccupied units, and even the shops that remain seem sparse during weekdays. Despite this lack of activity within the mall, some individuals appreciate its empty atmosphere. While visitors may admire Victoria's portrait in mosaic form at the venue, some wish that it had included depictions of local ancestors as well.
Nice place to shop and chill with friends. Good vibe and plenty of spots to grab a coffee or just relax.

This is the worst Mall I've ever been to, i came here on a Thursday and 3 quarters of the stores were already closed at 4 o'clock. The only place where you coul get food is a small cafe. The bathrooms were also really dirty. Some of the staff in a store were also very racist and mean. I saw them fatshaming a lady right before left the store

Very convenient to park here and you can ether explore the town or shop in the many different retail shops, as well as enjoy a bite to eat or just relax with a cuppa ☕️ Unfortunately like many other places all around the country, if not the world most of the units are closed or empty 😶 But I definitely recommend visiting this place when Fenwick have their sale, it’s usually bargains to be found all around their department store.

Great shopping centre with multi-storey parking available. Make sure to park on the correct level for the parking code. This is monitored. £7.15 to park for the whole day on the long stay levels.

Department store
Fenwick Tunbridge Wells is a delightful destination that perfectly embodies the charm of this picturesque town. Imagine strolling along the iconic Pantiles, where you can indulge in brunch at The Ivy before heading to Fenwick for some retail therapy. This department store is renowned for its selection of unique and high-quality items, making it an ideal spot for those special purchases. After shopping, why not unwind at one of the nearby cafes?
Natalie at Fenwick Tunbridge Wells was amazing. I was having trouble choosing a fragrance, but after I explained the kind of scent I was after, she recommended Parfums de Marly — and it was spot on. She knew exactly what I needed. Thank you, Natalie.

I need to tell you the amazing shopping experience I had in Fenwicks French connection today. Sarah Jane delivered such great customer service, she totally changed my dress sense, which brought me out of my comfort zone. She was very polite and knew exactly what went with what. 109% I would let her dress me again, she was amazing. Thank you

I was hoping for vegan breakfast, but it came with butter, which they changed on request. They also have a Buddha bowl for lunch, one vegan cake. Their service is slow, but half an hour is fine, I was using my computer. What came was okay.

A brilliant department store for those extra special items where you want to pay a bit more. Great cafe upstairs and bathroom facilities with baby-changing area. Parking in the multistorey with accessible lifts. Cheaper parking for long stay on 8th and 9th floor. (Currently £7.20 for all-day parking through Ringo app). Make sure you get the correct parking code for the floor parked on.

Met the lovely AJ today on the Moltom Brown concession, I went in to get something from kheils but there was no one there, had a really nice chat with her about Molton brown products, she is so knowledgable and passionate about them she converted me! How lucky they are to have such a friendly, non pushy and passionate staff member! Great experience <3

Dear Fenwick Customer Service, I am writing to formally complain about an unpleasant and discriminatory experience my husband and I had at your Tunbridge Wells store. A lady in home department (about 60 yrs old with glasses) who served us was extremely rude to my husband because he was wearing his work clothes. She asked him if he had even seen the name of the shop, implying that we did not belong there because it is “posh”. This was deeply insulting and humiliating. Moreover, her attitude came across as racist and xenophobic — we are not English and she clearly looked down on us for that reason too. We came to shop and spend about £500 and been shopping with you for the last 10 years but still we were treated with contempt and prejudice instead. This behaviour is completely unacceptable. We expect a sincere apology and want to know what steps you will take to ensure that no other customer is treated in this discriminatory way again. Please confirm that you have received this complaint and let me know how you plan to address it.

Trinity Theatre is a performing arts venue that offers a variety of entertainment options such as classical theatre, music, films, and visual arts. The theatre also has children's shows featuring animation and puppetry. Despite some concerns about expensive drinks at the bar and slow service during intervals due to limited staff, Trinity Theatre remains a lovely community space with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Its comfortable seating and great selection of films make it an enjoyable experience for all visitors.
I saw Ghost Train at this theatre. It was a good production in a lovely theatre but I particularly wanted to mention how great the staff are. I asked if I could use a hearing assistance pack but they were having technical issues. They couldn't have tried harder to get one working for me and kept me informed all the way through. In the end they couldn't get it working but until this morning I didn't know they had these available and I had booked the second row so could hear most of the production. Really great staff (though I believe they may actually be volunteers).

Watching a movie at a cinema that used to be a church was a memorable and delightful experience. There’s a cozy café&bar inside. Elderly local volunteers running the place. The only downside was that the theatre was quite cold, otherwise I had a wonderful time.

Lovely venue. Cafe & bar area within. We saw "Now that's what I call an 80's night" concert. Seating was great, with adequate space to have a boogie as well. There is limited parking at the venue, however 5 minutes away is the Crescent Road multi storey car park.

“Now That’s what I call an 80s Night!” with Cinnamon Street was BANGING! A real feel good evening of many familiar 80’s classics, reproduced authentically in the intimate setting of Trinity Theatre one of the jewels of Tunbridge Wells! A must see!

We're so lucky to have this fabulous venue, with its amazing staff on our doorstep. Its intimate feel and excellent sight lines to the stage make this a perfect venue for their varied shows and concerts. We can't recommend this venue highly enough.

Trinity Theatre pulled out all the stops with the staging of Eddie Izzard’s Hamlet. An extraordinary and brilliant performance that fitted perfectly into the dramatic Trinity setting. The Trinity staff and team made our visit a pleasure from the start, helpful people, lovely venue, superb theatre in every sense of the word.

A hugely dedicated and professional team run this independent venue, who should be congratulated on their commitment to making a difference to our community. In particular, the Trinity Youth Theatre team are just brilliant: they nurture their members, growing confidence and skill sets along the way. All their performances aim high and do not disappoint.

"Simon Evans and friends" Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, 26.09.2025: To be fair, I only went to see Simon Evans - he was excellent - as usual. However, the opening act, Sunil Patel, seemed very ill-at-ease and uncomfortable, passing on this anxiety to the audience. He cannot have much experience and this probably led to the unease and continually checking his watch didn't help. Shappi Korsandi, on the other hand, had a large amount of experience, but seems to have lost the ability to read a room - very disappointing and even more watch-checking!. What was missing, overall, was a compere, as the event - until the arrival of Simon evans - was very disjointed.

The Assembly Hall Theatre is an 985-seat venue that offers a diverse program including drama, musicals, comedy, dance, and live music. It hosts national and international companies and artists throughout the year. In December, it becomes the stage for The Tunbridge Wells pantomime. Meanwhile, Trinity Theatre presents amateur theatre productions three times a year and is known for its Murder Mystery Dinner Train experience.
I came to watch the pantomime for the second year running, and it did not disappoint. This year’s performance of Aladdin was fantastic, and it was great to see many of the cast returning along with some new celebrity faces. The show was hilarious for both adults and children alike. The theatre offers comfortable seating, clean restrooms, and plenty of nearby parking with no wait to enter. The staff were kind and courteous, adding to the overall positive experience. I’ll definitely be back next year for another wonderful performance!

Great venue to attend a gig perfect size. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and really appreciated not being felt like herded cattle. Very efficient organised and personable experience from all the staff. Drinks rather over priced and didn't taste worth the cost. Plastic glasses and horrible tasting diet coke. Artist was amazing and I would definitely go back to watch an act as provides and intimate not overcrowded experience
Lisa P — Google review
Although we were asked to attend early for John Simpson's show (which was excellent) the doors to the auditorium only opened 10 minutes before he was due to appear and there was a scrum to get in. The excuse was that the stage was still being built! Similarly, when we came to leave there was a very long wait to exit the two doors that were open. Compare with this with the Royal Shakespeare in Stratford on Avon where every door is opened to allow the public to exit. The seats are crushed together to make for a not pleasant experience. Sorry to be so bah humbug!

Always a wonderful venue to visit. Such lovely staff who are always willing to assist and go the extra mile for everyone. The venue has the most amazing shows. We've seen acts from tribute singers, top touring West End productions to even circus acts. Would be nice to reintroduce more ice-cream flavours and have coke, lemonade, fanta, etc, on tap rather than be given a pint tin of lemonade for a shandy but apart from that very minor niggle, I honestly can't fault this place. It's a great venue to have in a great location.

Went to Live Wire AC/DC and most disappointed that you have security jobsworths installed intent on stopping the audience from dancing or being near the stage- even though the band were encouraging everyone to get up to dance. You are going to lose customers!! This appears to be a recent thing, not good for a small venue 🙁🙁

This a great venue in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. We've now seen several shows here and would highly recommend it. Good value for money and highly professional productions. So good we went back 3 times !!! Staff super friendly and understand the menu. Toilets clean and no queue. Vegan options a plenty - Yipee ! Sunday roast - great portions and blooming tasty :-) Chocolate tart, just have it! Oh and the marmite fries, I live marmite but I wasn’t convinced - however once we had them we were fighting over them - definitely try them! The shawarma, hispi cabbage, crispy mushrooms - basically all Of it was tasty, fresh , well seasoned and made from quality ingredients. If we had something like this at home I would definitely be a regular - suffice to say this is a go if you get the chance venue ! There is an outside area which we didn’t use as mum was still recovering but looked and sounded great ( think there was live music / dj - but you’d have to check !)

We went to The Guinea for brunch as a group of four and had such a lovely experience. The service was fantastic — really attentive, with staff regularly topping up our drinks and checking in on us throughout. The food was fresh and tasty, and everything came out quickly. The only small thing was that we didn’t realise the burgers didn’t come with chips, so we ordered them separately — but they arrived quickly, were delicious, and definitely worth adding on! Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be going back.

We went to our first quiz night at the Guinea and had such a great time. Jack was the best quiz host we’ve had and made the whole evening so enjoyable. It was silly and fun and not too serious which is exactly the type of quizzes we enjoy. We will definitely be back for more! We had some food to eat too and were very impressed with the quality given the breadth of the menu. Wonderful experience and all the staff were great.

Giggling Squid in Tunbridge Wells is a laid-back spot that specializes in Thai cuisine, particularly seafood. This award-winning family of Thai restaurants prides itself on offering plentiful dishes with bold flavors and exotic ingredients meant to be shared. The restaurant provides an authentic Thai dining experience at a reasonable price within a modern setting. Despite some minor service and decor issues, the food quality was highly praised.
Try to book table for my partner because of his birthday dinner but all tables booked. Don’t like to disappoint him so call to customer service for help and you know what they tried to arrange a table for us in short time window. OMG they saved mu as life. Giggling Squid Review Giggling Squid offers a mixed Thai dining experience. The staff and service are amazing, friendly, attentive, and efficient, making us feel welcome. The atmosphere is lively and good, perfect for a casual night out. However, the food was disappointing, lacking the bold flavours expected from Thai cuisine. Some dishes were inconsistent and underwhelming. Overall, 3 stars for great service and vibe.

I’m not giving a star rating as they don’t deserve any! We ordered a family takeaway last night through deliveroo including 2 pad thais, one vegan and one vegetarian. The vegetarian one came with prawns! We contacted both deliveroo and the restaurant. No one seemed bothered and no apology was offered! Imagine if the person who ate some of the pad Thai with prawns before she noticed was allergic to shell fish!!! Appalling service and potentially dangerous!

Avoid at all cost. Worst pizza I had in my life ordered a half and half. But got a 80% pepperoni and 20% burger. How is that half and half. Also it had no taste at all it was like eating cardboard. Not sure if there was any sauce. The nachos where as disgusting as the pizza the salsa seemed to be tinned tomatoes plopped on top with the most plane cheese. Not even any jalapenos. I definitely won't be getting pizza there again. Update tried to call the shop 20 attempts and no one is picking up.

I ordered a California pizza and when it arrived it wasn't even hot. But the real complaint here is the pizza I ordered looks nothing like the photo it just looks dry with no toppings please see photos for what I ordered to what I actually got wouldn't recommend this especially at the price I paid. Very underwhelming best go elsewhere if you want pizza.

As way of apology. We received replacement pizza's today. These were piping hot and very nice. All 3 young men ate them all again Ordered my pizza's at 6.10pm given a time of 7pm for delivery. At 7.30 pm I phoned to see where my pizza's were, was told it's raining in Tunbridge Wells so might be a bit late. At 8pm pizza's turned up. They were hot so obviously they had forgotten about us. However the cheeseburger pizza had no sauce on it, after the most stupid reason for pizza not turning up within a reasonable time frame I couldn't be bothered to phone and complain. Won't be ordering from here again as this is the second time in a row we've had to phone to chase our pizza's. which is a shame as we've used them for many years.

The staff are attentive and the atmosphere relaxed, making it a perfect spot for breakfast or brunch before an afternoon meeting.
Great, really nice food and attentive service. We were really impressed. We visited in December 2024 and had steaks sides and starters. All were excellent. A. Meal for 2 with a bottle of wine was about £100 but worth very penny in my opinion. As it was Christmas they had an event where they were opening Champagne and pouring in to glass tower for all diners for a free glass. Highly recommend a visit.

Absolutely brilliant. I came here a few times whilst staying nearby. The food is top-notch: the sirloin was delicious, I ordered it twice. Great wine selection & champagne. Really nice to sit out in the sun and watch the world go by. The service was exquisite. It started raining lightly and they rushed out to move all my things to a nearby table undercover. I was treated superbly. I miss this place, wish it was local to me!

Service is good, particularly the lovely lady with glasses who I assumed was the manager. Food is good (apart from the Cote burger which I thought was quite bland), and it’s a very nice place to sit and have lunch. I do think there is a bit of a value for money issue as some of the portioning is very tight compared to what you have to pay. Over 5 pounds for a small side serving of creamed spinach, for example. We still did have a good time and enjoyed our desserts too, and despite a kerfuffle with our ordering we still left happy as the manager rectified things by generously writing off some of our bill. I also appreciated them acknowledging my Dad’s birthday by lighting a candle and coming over to give best wishes. If you don’t mind the cost and want good service and a classy lunch, this is the place.

Me and my wife went for a meal late August, whenever the bank holiday was. Bit more than I usually like to pay for a meal out so this was meant to be a treat. As far as the food went, it was very good. The confit pork was delicious with razor thin crackling, the bitterness of the sauce worked well with the sweet sultanas and apples. The Breton chicken was very tender, but needed more of the curry butter. The dauphinoise potatoes were excellent. The petit pois came out tepid at best but at least they were tasty. The French onion soup was lovely. The scallops, though tasty, we did not feel worked as they completely overpowered the sauce. Had a cheese board for the first time and tried some delicious new cheeses. Drinks wise we had some orange wine, shame I was driving as I'd have liked more. The yuzu cocktail was delicious. The mint tea was very refreshing. We also had some water. Now, I don't want to say I was "tricked", but anyway I was asked for water, I said yes, then she said "still or sparkling?", so I replied still. And that's how I ordered a nearly £6 bottle of water. We clocked it when the table next to us clearly got tap water, but we didn't see the interaction to know whether they specifically requested that. Kinda funny though, I've seen this on TV for years how restaurants do this, and well I guess they do. As for the service, not the best. The lady and gent were pleasant but quite inattentive. It was a mostly empty place and were kept waiting a lot. After our mains we were kept waiting almost 20 minutes for anything else, which we did want, being the cheese board. We certainly noticed the glances we kept getting, those "hurry up" annoyances. Maybe if you had served us quicker we would be gone, eh?

First time ever to an Ivy restaurant and it was fantastic. Greeted warmly at the door and taken straight to our table. Our waiter was lovely, he was charismatic and friendly. The restaurant was fully booked and the atmosphere was great. Now the food- one of the best meals I have ever had. Great value for money considering the high quality food and service provided. Thank you

One of the best cocktails and tasty starters vs Cold main meals love the Ivy… been their customer for many year and left number of positive feedbacks before… However, no one is perfect… Celebrated anniversary with my boyfriend a few days ago and for him it was a 1st ever visit to the Ivy… So 1st impression was a big mix for him On the day, table was ready on time ✅and in nice private corner ✅as was requested on the booking🤗 Waitress was new to the place but was really friendly and tried to advise on the meals in really nice and friendly way…✅ Starter, truffle rise balls and atlantic scallops (two of my favourite by the way) were amazing and presented really well✅ I love the Ivy cocktails, best advice… DO NOT order from the cocktail list but go and talk yourself to the barmen and i am guaranty they will do a perfect match for you✅🍸 this time i was actually exploring non alcoholic range and still was stormed off by them✅ The order was a bit slow, but ok.. What do you expect for busy Friday night… Food arrived and looked amazing✅ but it was a big disappointment that both our mains were almost cold… so we were offered to wait for another 40mins for new ordered to be cooked or warm it up… at it was already 21.30with no much choice we decided to go on warm up option… what absolutely distorted fish meal and made it uneatable ☢️❌ We were offered on house deserts….they looked amazing and well presented… also delicious on taste✅😋 Bill… arrived with no £20 discount what was advertised on booking app & current promotion via emails… so watch out for it❌⛔️…. Also despite mains being cold and uneatable, they were included in original bill…❌⛔️ However, talking to the manager and explaining about the mains, they were taken off of the bill and further discount was offered✅ So no one can be perfect all the time ✅⛔️ but the good way of apologies✅ always makes it easier to move one and encouraging to come back Despite cold main meal this time, my hear still with the Ivy and i definitely will return there😋 but I am sure it will take me a while to convince my boyfriend it was a one off situation on cold mains🫣🙏

Still by far I believe the best restaurant in Tunbridge Wells. Great service, great atmosphere and even without a pate option the best I believe menu! Will always recommend this place to anyone! Keep up the great work.

Surprised for father's day - nice food, ok (but slow) drinks (service), unfortunately sat below the AC by the door to the kitchen, so quite a lot of foot traffic. Having said that, quite possibly the best chips I've ever had.

We had an early family dinner after an event at The Ivy in Tunbridge Wells 🍴 It was good – cosy atmosphere ✨ but a bit tight for room around the table. The food was absolutely delicious 😋, though the portions could be very slightly bigger 🍽️ Plenty of choice for both food and drinks 🍷🍔

Our latest lunch at The Ivy in Tunbridge Wells was a delightful experience, with the renewed summer set lunch menu proving particularly enticing. I opted for the confit rabbit croquettes as a starter, which were delicately crisp outside and revealed a tender, richly savory center. The main course of cod goujons was equally impressive, golden and crisp with perfectly flaky, lightly seasoned fish inside. To finish, the classic frozen berries were a showstopper—elegant, theatrical, and as delicious as they were striking. Once again, The Ivy delivered a memorable meal with flair and finesse.

Event venue
The Pantiles is a charming Georgian colonnade that offers a delightful mix of boutiques, galleries, and open-air cafes. Visitors can enjoy summer jazz concerts while exploring the variety of shops and dining options available. The area is known for its vibrant atmosphere and hosts a popular market on the first and third weekends of each month. Additionally, visitors can experience the historical Chalybeate Spring and even sample its water served by costumed dippers.
This is a unique area of Tunbridge Wells and offers a range of excellent shops, cafes, art galleries, interesting shops, and novel places to visit. There is a Pantiles market offering a selection of homemade high-quality goods from clothing, jewellery to edible products, and a range of individual artistic wares. It is a lovely way to spend any day just browsing or meeting friends.

Words cannot adequately express the sheer opulence and architectural beauty of the Pantiles. Glorious restaurants with Al Fresco dining. A plethora of individual specialised independent shops juxtaposed with jettied timber houses, a bandstand and a weekly market. Essentially the town was based upon its spa and the Georgian noblemen who took the waters. The majority of architecture is George 11V William 1V. but there are also some substantial Victorian villas There is a large surface car park nearby. The Duke of York pub serves excellent fare. Don’t deny yourselves the opportunity to visit this haven of beauty that personifies the best of England. A short walk away takes you to the opera house that JD Wetherspoon have made into a pub without destroying any of the previous infrastructure and furnishings

It is a lovely area full of little boutique shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Menswear is in short supply all over this town (in my very small size) but if you want some art, be it paintings or sculptures, copper moulds for one's rustic farmhouse kitchen, a new blue Le Crueset Casserole Dish ( it is nicer than the usual orange) then this is the place for you. Jazz nights, food festivals, plenty of hotels, it is a nice place to visit. Luckily I am staying with a friend who has an amazing apartment in the middle of it.

The restaurant offers an outstanding, Michelin-starred culinary experience at extremely reasonable prices. Each dish impresses with refined flavors, top-quality ingredients, and creative presentation. The atmosphere is just as inviting as the excellent service team, which makes the visit a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend this restaurant!

One of the best breakfasts I have had and served all day. The tapas options are pretty stunning too! I’ve tried most of the menu but the eggs royale on a croissant is something quite special and I’m addicted. Only tiny criticism would be to offer other bread types as I personally don’t love soda bread - but that’s a personal preference

Scenic Railroads
Step back in time and experience the charm of a bygone era with a visit to Spa Valley Railway. This restored railway offers nostalgic trips on vintage steam and diesel trains, taking you through the picturesque Kentish landscape from Tunbridge Wells to High Rocks, Groombridge, and Eridge. Indulge in delightful dining experiences such as classic afternoon teas while enjoying the scenic countryside from the comfort of a historic carriage.
Who says the romance of steam trains is over? Extremely committed staff, steam engine enthusiasts, curious children and the stunning Kent countryside make for an experience of a past that has been lost for most of us. Thank you to the entire team that is keeping the nostalgia alive 🙏. Your passion and commitment are beyond compare.

This was great fun. A 1hr journey through lovely countryside and reconstructed old fashioned stations. The cream tea was ace. There’s a bar on board. The staff were all really friendly. Great value for money and a great gift idea too.

Fabulous chance to go on a restored steam train Price was only £30 for train ride, fish and chips, small bottle of Rose wine each & cake Stunning autumnal scenery - would highly recommend Only reason didn't give stars is the 'KAREN' we had serving us our fish and chips who totally spoilt our day! We got told off for moving the sign as soon as we sat down to the right slightly where it could still be seen , then she didn't want to put our plastic bottles in her rubbish bag but took the plastic cup???? Next we shouldn't have closed the fish and chips box when other passengers opposite all did and didn't get berated for doing so!!!! Bizarre petty BS!!! She was miserable and snappy! An older lady with dyed dark brown hair in a ponytail Who needs a really fast course in customer service as we are way too old to get told off and moaned at for such petty nonsense. She was a total letdown to an otherwise really lovely day Nasty mean spirited jabs directed at us and spoke to us with utter contempt! No clue what we had actually done wrong but she ruined the whole experience shame we could get a refund on some of our money paid because of her rudeness........why go to volunteer there if you dislike it so much??????.........no member of staff spoke or smiled once to anyone and they all looked like they wanted the day to end so they could go home?........Such a huge shame as we drove 2 hours to try this experience!!! Sort the volunteers out or you'll get more bad reviews and disgruntled customers

Fabulous little railway. Only three stations but they are each very interesting with information boards and old railway paraphernalia. Tunbridge has got some big stores outside but there is really not much outside of the other two. The trains and cars were really the highlight with a variety of engines (steam and diesel) and they pulled cars from different time periods so each time we got on we felt like we were in a different era. Definitely worth a visit and to get a ticket that allows you to hop on and off all day. Staff were all friendly and passionate about what they do (all volunteers). The railway holds events such as Fawlty Towers meals and Murder Mystery which we were not involved in this time but may in the future. Just a really relaxing day out m

I recently enjoyed the Gin & Steam experience and it was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The price include three artisan gins, a mixer and a slice of cake, all of which are served in one of the train's lovingly restored dining cars. Of course the best bit is that it all takes place aboard a restored steam train and what boy (no matter how old) doesn't enjoy that? You also get enough time to get off and explore the heritage stations along the route, which is an added bonus. I'm now looking forward to trying the Whiskey and steam experience and the cheese tasting train.

Park
Hawkenbury Recreation Ground is a fantastic outdoor space located on the outskirts of town. It features an enclosed children's play area, a scooter track, and sports facilities such as cricket/football pitch, tennis courts, and a basketball court. The playground has soft paving and fencing for safety, making it suitable for kids of all ages. Additionally, there are walking paths through the woods, open fields to run around in, and even a coffee van on-site.
More than I realised here for the kids in the park. Toilets, all weather pitch, sometimes even a coffee/snack van. With a two-year old and 11-year old, there was enough for both of them to do and places for me to supervise them both as needed.
Gerry C — Google review
Wonderful recreational ground with a playground suitable for a wide age range of children. It is all soft/ spongy type paving so if it rained the day before the kids arent going to get muddy. There is fencing around the playground so it is safer from dogs roaming and to keep an eye of toddlers. There is a large green space to enjoy with a path around the edge for mud free walks. There are also tennis courts, outdoor gym and basket ball courts for adults and children to play in. An astroturf football pitch (this has to be booked and paid for) for club games.
Kirsty P — Google review
Lovely well maintained open space with tennis court, gym area and park. Also one of the few places dog walkers pick up after themselves!
Leanne R — Google review
It's a lovely little place. With a children's play park, a few fields and shut off parts for football and tennis, a good distance around (1k) so good for walkers and joggers and a brilliant outdoor gym. The only downside is that some people don't clear up after their dogs, despite there being bag dispensers and bins at every entrance to the park!
Gemma G — Google review
It's a huge place with plenty of space to run, there is a tennis and basketball court, some outside gym equipment, the playground obviously lol, good few hours out if you bring a football or bike and a picnic (there's an overpriced shop but it's a 5-10walk away) and there are toilets next to the play area but be warned they aren't the nicest/most clean. It's great if you live in the area but it's not somewhere I'd travel far to visit, especially in the summer as there's limited parking.
Georgia M — Google review
Because I come here a lot during the summer, I think this park would be nice if it had more climbing frames and perhaps a cafe. As the park hasn’t been changed for a long time. Thank you

Great little place to take the kiddies. Not a great amount amount to do, but what is there is enough to warrant a good few smiles and some pretty pics to go with them. There's a tennis court for older children and a field big enough for a spot of football/running too, so it's all good ;)

Beautiful green space around TW. Close to mynplace so naturally I spend a lot of time in the park. Great facilities, gets a bit too crowded on a Sunday, but can't be selfish and keep the place for myself. Seen some beautiful sunsets and feels pretty safe. Could be better lit at night.

At any time of year, Calverley Park, and grounds, are a great place to visit. **High Rocks National Monument: A Delightful Discovery on My Journey** During my recent steam engine train trip along the Spa Valley Railway, I decided to stop off at the High Rocks National Monument. What an incredible experience it turned out to be! Not only is this destination renowned for its stunning natural beauty and breathtaking views, but the service and food were equally impressive. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the welcoming atmosphere and the attentive staff. The meal was a highlight of my visit, offering exceptional quality at a very reasonable price—approximately £40 per person for a delicious three-course meal. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, showcasing fresh, local ingredients that perfectly complemented the picturesque surroundings. The panoramic views from the dining area added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal, making it a truly memorable experience. The combination of exquisite food, excellent service, and the enchanting backdrop of High Rocks made my stopover more than worthwhile. Without a doubt, I will be returning to High Rocks National Monument in the future. It’s a must-visit for anyone traveling through the area, whether you're a nature enthusiast, a foodie, or simply looking for a serene spot to unwind.

Did not expect that beauty, a truly hidden gem, amazing rocks and views! Be careful, no barriers! Watch your step. There is a big free car park, and you can have a good lunch in a nearby italian restaurant. If you wish, you can take a steam train to High Rocks station, hop off, walk around, and hop on a train. Expect 1 hour at min to check on all the rocks.

We held our wedding at the High Rocks in August and were truly blown away by the service we were provided. Not only is the venue itself beautiful, the service really is second to none. We booked quite far in advanced and they were with us at every step along the way, always on hand with any questions or queries. The day itself was completely seamless from start to finish. Our guests were made to feel so comfortable and we were completely guided through the day by our toastmaster Martin. All staff on hand were excellent. Thank you especially to Stuart, Maggie and Giuseppe for always being on hand. We cannot wait to come back for our anniversary dinner. Nicola and Ewan

Sankey's The Old Fishmarket is a high-end champagne and seafood bar located in The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells. It offers traditional fish and chip dishes using hake, known for its better flavor and sustainability compared to cod. The chef's expertise ensures the dishes are always fresh. Additionally, there is Sankeys Kitchen and Bar nearby on Mt Ephraim. Business director Matthew Sankey emphasizes the use of hake from Newlyn in Cornwall for its freshness and superior qualities.
After reading the menu at every little cute cafe in the pantiles, we decided to try out this spot as the seafood sounded delicious & the sort of “rustic chic” vibe it gave off looked like a good meal. BEST new england style clam chowder I have ever had - and that’s saying a lot because we live in Monterey Bay, Ca which arguably has some of the best in the world. The flavor was so rich & perfect paired with their fresh sourdough *chefs kiss* we also got their oysters, some fantastic glasses of white wine to pair and a lovely seared white fish (i forgot its name…) I will seek out that chowder the moment I land back in England again. You need to get some ;) we had great simple service as it was just us and another couple in for late lunch, but we loved it. It’s also nice you can order smaller pours of many of the wines! They offer 3 pour sizes. Definitely pop in to Sankeys!

Made a special trip to Tunbridge Wells and wanted somewhere memorable to dine that evening and this place was so worth the visit. Hadn't really heard of it before, and the coastal qualifications of TW had heretofore been lost on me, but seafood is our thing and we thought it worth checking them out. We were not disappointed - the dining area is rather unconventional (and clearly they are very geared towards the warmer months with much more seating outdoors - not a viable option on a very chilly March night - but we took seats alongside the "kitchen"/food prep area which was great, as our "chef" for the night was really friendly and chatty, as were the rest of the team who went out of their way to make us feel welcome (especially as it was a celebration, of sorts). The oysters were delicious and the seafood platter so good - we took the option to choose our own items and all were fresh, juicy and tasty. A really good experience.

Nowhere better in The Pantiles for fish! It is but cheap but it is all cooked fresh and very tasty as a result. Get a table on the patio in the evening and enjoy the continental buzz of the Pantiles at night. Also gluten free provided for (bread and pasta) but also all dishes can be accomodated.

Fantastic evening spent in the cosy and friendly atmosphere. Excellent choices or small or large mealls. Jack was extremely knowledgeable when advising the different types of oysters and which sides/wine to have. We had Skate with new potatoes and dressed crab with salad. All food was fresh and superb quality by Chef 'Mack' . Definitely going again.

Had lunch here yesterday (Saturday) for my birthday with my partner and we both enjoyed very much! At my arrival there was a lovely handwritten birthday card from the staff which I thought it was a very lovely touch! The food was AMAZING, I had the mussels and clams chowder and it was delicious, mackerel pate with sourdough bread was lovely as well, the bread is so good! We also had the crab salad to share and sardines with beetroot, everything was delicious! The wines we had were lovely and Service was great too. Definitely we will come back and thank you again to all the staff for the amazing lunch!
Kiska E — Google review
We’ve just had the most incredibly wonderful lunch here! Steve the chef has superb skill and the roasted half lobster and shellfish in the most exquisite sauce was absolutely sublime! My only tiny tiny criticism is that I would love soft French baguette to go with it as I didn’t want to miss a drop of the delicious sauce and I found that the sourdough, although really lovely and perfectly made, was just a little bit hard and didn’t do what a friend soft French baguette would do. But don’t let this put you off at all because seriously the cooking here is Michelin starred! Maya our lovely waitress was beyond attentive, patient, warm and genuinely interested in us as customers, she has a breadth of customer service experience and excelled in her high level service skills. Jack the general manager was professional, warm and genuine, passionate about his role and it really shows. This place is incredibly special. I’m so lucky that we have such a good value fine dining experience locally here. Absolutely five star rating. Excellent wine pairing selection too. Wonderful flavours, wonderful atmosphere and we keep going back because it’s so good. Thank you everyone for today’s memorable experience for me and my son. I also really love the fact that of you book online you get a free car parking space two minutes walk away. This is a really nice and important touch. Thank you.

Nestled in a converted Victorian station, Smith & Western offers a unique blend of charm and comfort with its ranch-style bedrooms and an inviting eatery. Guests have enjoyed their stays here, particularly for special occasions like weddings, thanks to the clean and cozy accommodations. The on-site restaurant serves classic American dishes that evoke feelings of nostalgia; while some diners found the food satisfactory yet typical for a chain establishment, others raved about the delicious offerings like southern comfort glazed ribs and wings.
Lovely dinner! We came here on a random Wednesday, the place was still busy which was a good sign! The staff were all friendly and said hello, asked us how were doing when they saw us. Jo was our waitress and was super lovely. If you're after comfort food, this is the spot! Southern comfort glazed ribs and wings were the one! Already got a table booked to come back!

Not really one for writing reviews but had to on this occasion. Our stay at Smith and Western exceeded all expectations. Lovely atmosphere and the decoration attention to detail all aided to the immersive experience. All the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. Unfortunately I don’t remember our waiter’s name however he was a credit to the brand as he looked after my father very well alongside us all. Leading up to the wedding, I visited the venue again to talk through the plans for the booking, and I was talking to the general manager. She had a very bad attitude and was rude. I wanted to problem solve with her how to make the space accessible for 15 people but I was completely shut down and she moved us to another area, which requires a step up, even though I informed her we would have 2 people in wheelchairs. My partner had to phone up again and speak with her about making the booking accessible again for those in our party that had disabilities. The general manager is hostile and unaccomodating. The booking was changed back to the original space and it all worked fine - no problems on the day of the wedding, which showed the general manager didn't need to make things so difficult. Great customer service from everyone else and the food is good. The other staff decorated our table for us and gave us a free bottle of prosecco. Thank you to everyone who made the day so special. S&W is so much fun!

Great food, great service, and loved the place. We came here whilst on holiday. Normally we go to the one in Chichester at home. The staff are super friendly and welcoming! Food is great.

Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells is an upscale hotel housed in a Georgian mansion, offering elegant accommodations and a high-end French bistro with a terrace. The hotel provides a classic experience of afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, scones, cakes, and a variety of tea infusions. Additionally, the hotel offers unique sleeping experiences such as converted oast houses and lookout towers. It's located in Royal Tunbridge Wells and is known for its great location and generous portions of food.
Staying at the Hotel du Vin in Tunbridge Wells is such a pleasure. On the Sunday I had arranged to have Sunday Lunch. The dining room is light, airy and with proper silver service.. The food was absolutely spot on. The ambiance and the staff was perfect.. Our room was Belle Epoque facing over the gardens. Fabulous room, huge bed, well appointed with a Nespresso machine. The bath room was one of the biggest I have ever had with the fastest filling bath ever. The shower was a step in perfect. In line with their green ethos you could choose not to have the rooms serviced each day which suited us. Breakfast was delicious, great buffet and big, imaginative hot menu. Staff were an example to other places. Lily who was on reception and taking breakfast orders was the epitome of charm. Always with a smile. All the staff were immaculately turned out and charming. Particularly the young man in the bar, Lily and the restaurant staff. A perfect stay in a wonderful spot to see Tunbridge Wells.

Rooms are spacious and old worldly. We had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious and included. Dinner was ok. Wine was a bit expensive, I loved the cocktails and great deals during "happy hour"! We had a good time. Every staff member is friendly and helpful. We will stay at Hotel Du Vin in Tunbridge wells again and would recommend it.

Just had a Winter package, night's stay, dinner, and breakfast. It was fab, the staff are so good, friendly, helpful, nothing is too much trouble. A real pleasure and fantastic customer service. Lovely cosy room, great bed, fab shower, great shower products. Relaxed vibe in the bar, had a few drinks and really tasty snacks. Dinner was great, and breakfast was superb. Will be back soon.

The bedrooms are small but comfortable. The shower is in the bath, which is a hassle for the elderly. The dining room is relaxed and informal. The food is good. The staff are polite and helpful. There is a comfortable bar and a lovely sitting room.

Ate in the restaurant on Friday night. Had the taster menu with wine pairings which was great value and very tasty. What made the experience special was the wonderful explanation of each course and accompanying wine from the fantastic and knowledgeable lady sommelier.

We came for afternoon tea as a belated Mothering Sunday treat and overall, it was a truly lovely experience. The building is beautiful and elegant and the service was first class. Great value for the tea, which had a huge number of sandwiches and sweets. Only the scones were a bit disappointing ... not really scones at all but more like cakes.

Met a friend there for drinks on a Sunday and a catch up - met in the main bar. Firstly I was shocked when enetering the hotel to see some ‘paid for’ brolley stand whereby you have to rent umbrellas 😂 Staff are lovely but the drinks were I thought expensive, the bill had to be corrected twice - overall not what I think should be a expected of such a lovely property. Oh and the worse thing for me was the gents toilets have two demonic statues - that is not cool 👺🔚

Wedding event. Great food & wine and excellent customer service. Fantastic setting (shame about the scaffolding tho!) And professionally run. Highly recommended for an event/dining.

The Beacon is a charming wedding venue and event space located just outside Tunbridge Wells, along the picturesque Tea Garden Lane. This former private residence, steeped in Arts and Crafts style, offers breathtaking views of the Kent countryside across its expansive 17-acre grounds adorned with three serene lakes. It’s an idyllic spot for romantic outings or leisurely strolls on their beautiful garden terrace. Food enthusiasts will delight in The Beacon's Garden Bar, where you can savor locally-sourced dishes until 11 am daily.
I had the most wonderful afternoon tea at The Beacon in Tunbridge Wells to celebrate a friend’s birthday today. Everything was just spot on – the food was absolutely fabulous, beautifully presented with so much attention to detail, and every bite was delicious. The staff were so friendly and attentive, and a special mention to Simon, who looked after our table – nothing was too much trouble, and he really made the whole experience feel extra special. The setting is simply stunning – such a gorgeous place to sit back, relax and enjoy the afternoon. It honestly felt like such a treat from start to finish. Definitely 5-star service all the way, and I can’t wait to go back!

We had an excellent overnight stay at the Beacon. The room (Burdock) was comfortable and well furnished with plenty of nice extra touches, we especially liked the homemade cordial in the fridge. Breakfast in the morning was lovely on the terrace although service was slow (I think they forgot about our order!). Lost a star because the restaurant isn't very vegan friendly, I was told by one member of staff that meals could be adapted to be made vegan, but when I tried to order told no...

Took my parents here for their 55th wedding anniversary and it was perfect. Views fabulous, setting gorgeous (noted all the little table arrangement bits they did to make it seem more luxury) and the food was tasty. The bill was reasonable and staff were lovely. Thank you.

A quick Google search led me to this property and I am so glad I found it. There is nothing negative to say about this property. It’s an extremely well managed, well equipped and beautifully located gem. The rooms are exactly as shown on their website and the attention to detail is impressive. From the thoughtful provision of water & little snacks, to the handheld steamer and lovely toiletries, it’s well worth the money. There is separate parking for hotel guests. Dinner on the terrace was charming with fabulous views over the garden and treetops of Tunbridge Wells (well, its outskirts). The wait staff are a group of very friendly & helpful young people. We had breakfast too and paid an incredibly fair £10 for the continental breakfast. In our experience nothing else locally comes close to the standards of hospitality. Faultless

Stunning venue, well located with beautifully styled rooms & perfectly landscaped garden. Breakfast was boutique, large, varied & delicious. Checking in / out wasn’t straight forward as there’s no obvious reception desk or attendant, so we floated around for a while before someone happened to pass by. Would go again!

Where to start? My husband and I got married at The Beacon in August, and it goes without saying that the venue and setting are absolutely spectacular. The food on the day was outstanding, which is no mean feat for over 100 guests. Maia did a fantastic job in the lead-up, making sure everything was perfectly organised. And Mia, our coordinator on the day, is an absolute angel. We honestly can’t thank her enough. She was calm, professional, and completely unflappable, ensuring the entire day ran seamlessly. The whole team took any stress out of the day, they are true experts at what they do. I genuinely don’t know how the day could have been any better, it was truly perfect from start to finish. If you’re considering The Beacon for your wedding, do it, you won’t regret it!

A wonderful venue to celebrate our diamond anniversary. Stunning location, exemplary food and great service (special mentions for Naomi & Chloe for service) We have stayed in many hotels all over the world but none better than The Beacon. Thank you for making our special day so special!

Friendly attentive staff served hearty, well presented food in a very pleasant setting. This was a birthday treat from my partner and she was also very happy, so thank you very much to all of you.
