Park
Nature & Parks
Heaton Park is a sprawling urban park located just beyond the city limits of Manchester. Covering over 600 acres, it offers a wide range of activities for visitors of all ages. The park features an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, a boating lake, an animal petting farm, woodlands, ornamental gardens, and an observatory. Families can enjoy the adventure playground and treetop adventure while kids can have fun with the farm animals and play areas.
Plenty of parking at a reasonable cost. Great fun for adults, teenagers, children and toddlers! Scenic views, a small farm with helpful animals handlers who are happy to answer questions, well-kept grounds, boat rides, decent-sized play areas for children of all ages, a cafe, a resident ice cream van and charcoal pizza options. A good place to enjoy the great outdoors - especially on a sunny day!

Heaton Park is one of my absolute favourite places, and we’re lucky to live so close by. It’s somewhere we visit regularly—whether we’re out walking the dog or just enjoying a peaceful evening summer stroll. The park is absolutely beautiful, with wide open green spaces, woodland walks, and scenic views. The boating lake adds a lovely, peaceful touch, and there are two great cafés—one by the stables and another overlooking the lake—perfect for a warm drink or a treat. We always stop by the little animal area to see the goats, ducks, and our favourites—the gorgeous Highland cows. There’s also a brilliant bee house, which is such a nice surprise to find on a quiet walk. The park has two fantastic play areas too, great for families with children of all ages. You can really feel the history here—it’s like it’s locked into the soil and buildings around you. Heaton Park offers something for everyone: nature, history, animals, play, peace, and fresh air. It’s a true gem right on our doorstep, and I feel lucky to have it so close.

Love this place. Good for walks and bike rides. Lovely scenery. The fun fair was on when we went. There's a boat lake too and animals. From place to place there are ice cream vans. Will definitely be back here
Laila K — Google review
Great park plenty of playground areas for the kids, lots of open space to wonder around, has a small farm, shops, cafe etc... Lake has rentable boats, we took out a peddle Swan with the kids which they loved. Good for a family day out or larger gathering
Y G — Google review
Great country park with plenty of parking. Two good cafes, boating lake, in the summer, small children’s animal farmyard and adventure playground with a large herd of highland cattle out on the pastures. Woodland walks and much more
John L — Google review
Amazing great big open space, well priced cafe with good offering - especially the kids meals, animal centre is a lovely touch and free to access. Accessible toilets which were clean and easy to access from the cafe.
Tasha J — Google review
Lovely clean park with plenty of beches to rest on and a great playground for the children. Farm animal area to visit plus boating lake and cafes. Met a friendly squirrel too! Places to walk and some joggers too. Worth a visit.
Gayle W — Google review
This is a wonderful park where there's something for all ages and you can spend many hours enjoying all there is to offer. Unfortunately so much of it is closed to the public. Heaton Hall and the Orangery are impressive but closed. There's also the restored tramway and old shelter, now a museum, also closed with no trams running. Even the colonnade of the former Manchester Town Hall is fenced off. There is though a lovely children's animal farm and a playground as well as a cafe in the old stableblock. Several Pals battalions gathered here in WWI and aircrew in WWII. The Somme monument is poignant. There's the historical Dower House, Grand Lodge and Temple to see and the lovely boating lake and Highland cattle in the park. It's good to see that it's also used for various events; food and drink, fairs, concerts etc.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary adventure, look no further than Radcliffe Market Hall! This vibrant food market is a treasure trove of global flavors, featuring an impressive array of stalls that serve everything from stone-baked pizzas to tantalizing Thai dishes and hearty Jamaican meals. Whether you’re in the mood for Mexican burgers or traditional English fare, there’s something to satisfy every palate.
Went for work team bonding. First time. Plenty parking in Lidl carpark. Lots of different cuisines. I went for the mixed chicken and steak udon noodle with 3 pork Sui Mai's. Portion generous . Found my dish to be a little over salted and steak abit chewy. Sui mai was nice with a chilli oil as a dipping sauce. I would definitely go again. Bonus was quiz night on Thursday.

Great food hall which is now run as a co-operative. Great variety of food stalls from Japanese to Italian to Indian to Thai and to traditional English. If you are coming on a Saturday evening I would recommend preserving a table as it is now getting much busier as word gets around. Great atmosphere in there with great music and good prices. When we initially got there on a Saturday at 3:00 p.m. it was quiet but soon got really busy there.
Russ — Google review
Good atmosphere on a Thursday, went for food and quiz night. All the food was lovely but the people in our group who ordered from Mogul were waiting a very long time for their food, around 45 minutes. Also, the pub quiz needs a rethink; I'd say it was aimed at primary school children. ( one question was how many days are there in July) and the picture round was laughable
Aimee S — Google review
Visited Radcliffe Market for the first time on Saturday. The food from Soul Shack and House of Bun was exceptional. The drinks were reasonably priced and the live music was great. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great mix of people. Will definitely be visiting again!

We went back after not being there for a while, the food and drinks were amazing, frickles are the word 👍👍👍, the ordering is easy, text and pay on your phone, be aware there can be wait times when there busy, worth asking when the order might come, the bar is serving locally brew beer and all the staff were great, consequently we ordered a takeaway last week, again, wow brilliant. The pics below are from the takeaway, thanks @thebunhouse

Renovated into a cool market hall, which also opens up at the weekend for night time food, stalls and music. Good addition to the centre of Radcliffe. Saturday evening was really good and the samosas, loaded fries and chicken tikka were delicious. They sold out of pizza though before 7pm (poor business)

Shopping mall
Located in Bury, the Mill Gate Shopping Centre is a large covered complex that houses a variety of high-street stores, boutiques, food outlets, and a department store. Opened in 2010, this shopping center is adjacent to The Rock and features a multi-screen cinema and bowling alley. Visitors can explore well-known department stores such as M&S, Boots, and Topshop. Additionally, the center offers wheelchair-accessible facilities and clean amenities including toilets.
We went during the comic con in June 24. Didn't do much shopping, so I can't review much on that. The comic con was amazing. They had sci-fi cars, and people dressed up in costumes and had a dinosaurs area too. Loved it. We parked in the Rock, and loads of spaces and didn't cost a lot for a few hours.
Peter B — Google review
Saw a strangely dressed middle-aged man (not a butch woman, this was definitely a male) walk into the women's toilets and spend several minutes there... Not a safe toilet facility for girls and women. The rest of Mill Gate shopping centre is nice and I regularly come here.
Bill M — Google review
Lovely centre, range of decent high street and independent shops, visited perfect fit by Carol for bridal underwear and resizing as well as a cute independent shop with pottery and jewellery. Also went to a piercing shop for a new dermal top (only 4 quid!) Finally visited a nail/beauty shop and got some bargains
Nicole H — Google review
Shopping in Mill Gate was like going back in time to the late 2000s early 2010s. A little rundown, but a clean and presentable shopping centre. Not all shops suited my taste however there was a lot to choose from
Erin J — Google review
A reasonable large shopping mall. From Vodafone to Costa coffee, you name it , it has it. Many people shop around on Saturday and Sunday. Car parking is just so cheap £2.10 for two hours. However, it is quite difficult to get a space as the car park is just next to Bury market which is very busy on weekends.
Johnathan P — Google review
Mill Gate Shopping Centre and all of the surrounding shops are a must visit when in the local area. We visited after a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. We parked in Parsons Lane carpark by the cinema and walked out into the the spacious pedestrian area with all the shops to cater for all your needs. Further on we entered the very impressive indoor shopping centre. It looks brand new, so clean and well maintained. Lots of signs directing you around which is very helpful. Unfortunately with it being a Thursday the famous 'Bury Market' wasn't on but that didn't spoil the experience. Will visit again if around Bury.
Paul W — Google review
It was raining and it's a shame when they built the new shopping area that they didn't put it under cover for when it rains, otherwise pleasant shopping experience. If you get chance , try Bob's & Bert's dinner, lovely atmosphere and large menu option including a gluten free section.

This place is run extremely well, clearly a lot of care goes into choosing the shop, running the centre, and maintenance. Great shopping spot

The market has received prestigious awards over the years, solidifying its reputation as a must-visit destination. Additionally, Bury offers other attractions such as Burrs Country Park and Peel Tower for leisurely walks with family, complemented by family-friendly eateries in the vicinity.
Fantastic market, this was our first time visit and now we’ve been I can’t understand why we have never been before ! But will definitely be returning, the market has a massive selection of stalls , plenty of places to eat, the adjacent shopping mall is very large and a great selection of shops. The market has great transport links , we used the metro link which is located right next to the market , would not hesitate in recommending a visit.

Great market and lots of choice, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Been replacing the supermarkets and going here for my fresh fruit and veg, definitely recommend. Also got some good lunch spots.

Absolutely loved this place. It is HUGE and has everything you could possibly want. I will definitely be going back again. It also has benches to sit on which was great as I can't walk far and kept needing to sit down and they also have public toilets which were surprisingly clean. Also very good for disabled access. The cheeses there are gorgeous and they always have bits for you to try before you buy, like lots of other stalls too.
Joanne C — Google review
Bury Market's reputation is legend across the Northwest and beyond, offering a labyrinth of indoor and outdoor zones where stallholders sell breads, pastries, cheeses, clothes/textiles, meat's and seafood, and many many more commodities. The market features cafe's and eateries which are augmented by adjacent town centre restaurants, and as long as Bury Market persists, and perhaps thereafter, there will always be Bury's Black Pudding, for which perhaps the market's most famous stalls are recognized.
Steve G — Google review
Open 3 days a week brimming with bargains plus the mill gate shopping centre by the side of the market. This is how I remember how the markets use to be. A great day out and plenty of places to grab a spot of lunch. The traders are all extremely friendly. Grabbed some nice bury black pudding , free range eggs, meat from the indoor butchers, all at a really good price. Highly recommended Bury Market theres something for everyone. Only by people coming to a market and supporting it does it secure the long term success for the future

Can't complain! You could find everything you want. Textiles, CDs / DVDs, vinyls, stuff for daily uses of course offer different style of food as well. There is a Hongkonger's grocery called "Moliuliu Store" which also serve food as well.

Called into herr for a couple of hours while on a coach trip. My goodness, the prices are amazing. Clothing, bags, drinks, hardware, books, everything you could think of. There is loads of food on offer. I chose to go to a noodle bar. There were lots of chinese customers, the menus were in Chinese with English translations. Proper proper food.

Nestled in the charming town of Ramsbottom, Nuttall Park is a delightful escape into nature that offers something for everyone. With its expansive fields and well-maintained trails winding through lush wooded areas, this park is perfect for leisurely strolls or energetic jogs. Families will appreciate the accessible pathways, making it easy to navigate with strollers or wheelchairs. The park features an impressive playground equipped with swings and climbing frames, providing endless fun for children.
A nice flat walk of approximately 1km. It's ideal for prams, runners and dog walks with a little beach where the dogs can take a dip. There's also a fenced off park area, tennis court (which you have to pay to access), toilets and a cafe which is open most days (run by volunteers). It has a reasonable car park and on nice days the ice cream van makes an appearance 🍦.
Chris B — Google review
Clean, well kept park perfect for dog walking, cycling and jogging. There are a few tracks that lead to the woods and down to the river so my dog loves it. It's also perfectly situated for Ramsbottom town centre so easy to pop there for breakfast before the walk or lunch after a walk (and most places allow dogs).
Anne B — Google review
Love this place. Huge open fields. 1km track running round it for running or riding a bike. Walk in access to the river if the kids want to splash or paddle or play. Adventure playground. So much to do here.
Adrian B — Google review
Free parking and plenty of it. Good play equipment well maintained. Loads of open space, a river, woodland areas, gorgeous views, the train goes by regularly and there are toilets and a cafe (part time opening). What’s not to love!
Lauren G — Google review
Went for a walk with my friend Debbie. The park isn't particularly big but it's pleasant to walk/jog around. It's also very handy to park here and walk to Rammy when there's a busy event on. Cafe is nice, but basic. It doesn't charge but you are expected to make a donation. The guy in there was very nice and helpful.

Excellent park! Some lovely views and a river running alongside. The Lancashire Steam Railway also runs along the edge so you may get to see a steam train. Lots of benches and bins. Toilets are opened by volunteers so not necessarily available. Some lovely woods for exploring

The Thirsty Fish is a small but cozy microbrewery located near Bury market and the bus/tram station. The interior features rough timber walls adorned with beer paraphernalia, creating a unique atmosphere. It offers a wide range of ales, stouts, lagers, and ciders at great prices. Additionally, they have a loyalty card where every ten drinks purchased earns one free drink. The friendly staff and patrons contribute to the welcoming atmosphere of this bar.
Great micro bar close to Bury market and bus/ tram station. Always a good real ale selection in this very small bar. Friendly place. My second visit. Had a lovely pint of Yorkshire Cobble from the North Yorkshire Brewing co. Great people watching venue.

Don't know about food, Service average, kept looking at my boy, then found out no Kids allowed in! Beer was overpriced and below average anyway, can get better pints in Wetherspoons and pay less, won't be going again.

Great little microbrewery. Offers a wide range of ales, stouts, lagers and ciders for a great price. There is even a loyalty card for each ten drinks you buy you recieve one for free which is a great deal. The staff are friendly and the people inside are also a very friendly bunch with a lot of similar faces in.

Great little bar in Bury, friendly atmosphere (like a "local" used to be). Fantastic range of real ales and ciders plus premium lagers and spirits. A warm welcome greets you at this brilliant pub !

What was my favourite little pub/bar in Bury has unfortunately gone downhill a bit. Used to serve Weienstephan beer and ABK, but doesn't any longer. When I asked for both I was told by the waitress they'd "never sold those". LOL.
Ben N — Google review
At present the jury is still out on this gaff. Last visit was decent but prior to that the quality wasn't great. Good choice of ale, friendly bar staff and too beer geeky for the local scals to visit. Hoping to up the score soon as Bury needs good ale houses. Untappd average 2.8
Rik S — Google review
An amazing tardis of a bar. Always have a great selection of beers and gins to keep me and my partner happy. It's a dog friendly bar aswell which is an amazing bonus when your missing your old 4 legged friend. The staff are always warm and welcoming. Would recommend everyone goes atleast once for the experience. It can get busy on market days which are wednesday, friday and saturday.
Samantha H — Google review
It's a hidden gem. Quirky place with quality beers and ales. They fill the gin glass up with figs, strawberry and all sorts of other fruit. Nothing like the piece of lemon that looks like a toe nail you get in most places in Bury. Pork pies too 😋.

Pizza Takeout
Pronto Pizza Radcliffe offers delicious pizzas with excellent customer service, making it a place worth revisiting. Their chicken burgers are also of high quality and full of flavor, pleasing everyone who tries them. The 18-inch pepperoni pizza is particularly outstanding, surpassing even the popular chain Domino's in taste and satisfaction. Additionally, their hot and spicy pizza alongside the garlic bread is both delicious and satisfying when picked up fresh from the shop.
Best take away pizza period! You can tell from the first bite they use only fresh ingredients and that they put a lot of time and effort into their dough. Very friendly staff. I can't recommend it enough...

If you want a big dirty takeaway style pizza that’s going to hit the spot!!! It’s got to be an 18” stuffed crust from Prontos! 🍕 Probably Radcliffes best pizza shop IMO 👌🏻
James T — Google review
I always enjoy the pizzas from here. Great prices - especially if you order from their website online (foodhub). Delivery always timely. Always hot, and fresh ingredients. I do miss a couple of things: - The greek salad they used to do (no longer on the menu) - The chocolate cake used to come with a small pot of cream (no longer - so a bit pricey for a small slice of Factory chcolate cake (£4.50) Other suggestions: - be more generous with the garlic dip - I always find one pot is not enough for one pizza - really need two. (to the management, think how five guys do so well - they are always over generous to their customers with the fries for example) I appreciate you guys. I hope my feedback is helpful.
Ryan M — Google review
Nope, I’m definitely not ordering this again. It’s not tasty, way too greasy, and has nothing to do with a proper “pizza” – just a chunk of defrosted dough with cheap toppings thrown on. If you’re really hungry, it might do the job, but if you’re after a decent meal – look elsewhere! 🍕🚫

Pronto pizza is disgusting!! This is a chicken wrap??? First of all they come 2 hours late for a chicken wrap, a 10” pizza and chicken strips. Absolutely vile!!!! The customer service is vile the driver was so rude when we said to him your 2 hours late and the state of the food aswell, I can’t even eat this honestly we should of got McDonald’s!!!! We couldn’t even track the order because they slyly using their own driver and we can’t even get a refund. I’m warning everyone don’t waste your time and money with these disgusting people, it says the restaurant is closed also after processed the order???!!! The disrespect is real !! It breaks my heart that they have a cheek scam people like this!!! Please do better they clearly don’t know how to run a business.

I recently visited Cheers Bar & Bistro (formerly Pizzeria Napoli & Cheers Bar) and had a great experience. Despite a small mix-up with my booking, the owner and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They quickly arranged a table for our party of 10 by rearranging some other tables. The service was efficient, the food was good, and the bill at the end was very reasonable. I will definitely be returning in the future.
We ordered through the website, and were given a delivery time, they we spot on with time, we had the 20 deal, 2 pizzas with a bottle of wine, we added a cheeky starter too, we chose the Frittatina, deep fried macaroni in cheese with ham & peas..... Yum yum Pizza lasagna & Salsiccia e Friarielli pizza, went for the house white, pinot grigio. I have to say we were very surprised, a friend had gone and said it was nice, purely on location I was dubious. I am so glad we went for it, the starter/side dish honestly never had anything like it, really tasty, the wine, very quaffable....... Drained the bottle. The pizzas, wow truly some of the nicest pizzas we've had in a very long time, the taste and texture was very authentic, we were in Naples a few years ago and you'd struggle to tell you weren't eating there. Overall a really great takeaway, looking forward to try the restaurant. Oh I forgot to say, delivered all in 20 quid..... £20!!!!!! Stunning value for money.

We are regular customers with Cheers and always get home delivery, we have had one bad experience with the food. As regular customers, we know what we enjoy, and one time it just wasn’t tasteful, chips were frozen and the food standard was very poor. We considered never ordering again, but Micheal has absolutely rectified any doubts we ever had about ordering again. He personally took time to ensure if we were to order again, the food would be to high standards. I just want to say, they have absolutely smashed it out of the park this time. Everything was so perfect, the food was delivered personally, HOT and FRESH! Our usual order was even better than the usual standards, everything had a little extra and we are so so happy that the Bistro is back to the high standards we enjoy so much. We are already looking forward to next time! Thank you so much Micheal, Bistro team and the man who delivered the food (and made the chips)

Wish I'd ordered a maccies. Placed an order on Uber. Wanted a nice meal with my partner , table set. Fancied a treat so got the meal deal for two , which included two mains and two sides. Expected a longer wait for delivery as the food on the menu looked really fresh and I will wait for quality. The order was delivered around an hour later . One main missing. Uber called to say it was being delivered. Half an hour passed , the whole time our already delivered food is going cold. Called the restaurant itself and was told another half an hour . When it was finally delivered I had 4 mushy cold meatballs that had been in a bagg with freezing cold melon (which I hadn't ordered) and some freezing cold toast. So when I go to cook the freshly made Italian food is ordered because I didn't want to cook this slab of pasta fell out of the tub . It's carbonara. Turns into scrambled egg when reheated. The man on the phone didn't even seen bothered no offer of refund , no apologies just kept saying it was on its way with the driver .

We've probably spent £1000 on takeout here over the past year or so. Food is great. But today's order was missing our dessert (driver said he gave it to someone else) and the lad on the phone said they wouldn't resend it or refund it but we could have it for free next time! Lol! That's what you get for being a loyal customer - an incomplete meal and no fűcks given. Not happy.

Fantastic new Trattoria style Pizza restaurant. Visited today on a rainy afternoon. Totally transported to Naples by the fantastic food and the excellent service. As well as the great Neapolitan classics of margarita and marinara there are some very imaginative choices of pizza and mine was fantastic! Light tasty dough, fabulous toppings and an very authentic crust. The biggest surprises though were the starters. A very imaginative series of dumplings which were very fresh and filled with some very interesting filling. The owner waited on us and he is not only wonderfully knowledgable about his menu but is very attentive and gives the full Naples experience with insights into the dishes and very entertaining conversation. It was like being one of the family and the time flew by. I really cannot day enough good things about this restaurant and it is now my favourite Italian restaurant. I can’t wait to get back to sample more. I expect this to become a real Bury landmark and I would be happy to travel the forty minutes again for lunch or dinner. Expect something very good and be open to the menu items and you will not be disappointed.

My partner brought me here for Valentine’s Day. It was my first visit but will defiantly be back again. Food was delicious, the cocktails were probably the best I’ve ever had, everywhere was clean and the staff were so lovely and friendly. We are planning on making it a regular place for us

Cake shop
Slattery is a renowned 3-storey bakery and chocolate shop in Manchester, known for its homemade pastries, jams, and wedding cake showroom. It has gained iconic status in the North West for its fine chocolates and patisserie offerings. The establishment offers a famous food challenge featuring a massive chocolate fudge cake, fresh cream, chocolate ice cream, pots of melted chocolate, and hot chocolate with cream.
On the bank holiday we travelled from London to Manchester to test ourselves in Slattery trying to eat the famous chocolate challenge. We expected to fail in the challenge but we were still excited to give it a go. We booked our table a month in advance as it can be busy and booked out! The shop downstairs is crazy. Everything you can imagine they create from chocolate. Upstairs there is the dining room. The staff is the best I have ever came across in catering industry. They are super friendly, easy going and really helpful, good souls. We had an amazing time here and we were very happy to visit the place from London!

Excellent service both in store and in the restaurant. Food upstairs all looked very nice and good quality, I had the ultimate sundae and my partner had the cake selection, both of which were very nice and decadent. Drinks came with a little disk of chocolate which was very tasty. Saw some people get the Chocolate Challenge whilst there, doesn't look like a big plateful but I can imagine it's very sweet and sugary!

A wonderful place to stop and get some chocolate goodies, the shop downstairs is lovely and the canteen upstairs is a true wonder! A sweet tooth is mandatory but they do have lovely savoury options too. Honestly, the best treat to have! The staff are so very helpful and always willing to offer suggestions. Highly highly recommended to try again and again!

Received an afternoon tea voucher as a gift. The restaurant gets very busy so had to book a few weeks in advance. The dining room is situated upstairs and can be accessed via either stairs or lift. Staff were very friendly on arrival and we were seated immediately. I have an allergy so mentioned this to the waitress and the afternoon tea was served without the food I cannot eat. There were lots of sandwiches, a scone and lots of lovely cakes. The champagne was really nice and we were not rushed to finish. We couldn't eat it all so were able to take our leftovers in a takeaway box. The shop was very busy after we had finished eating with lots of chocolates, cakes and easter goodies. We will be back.

We’ve been wanting to visit Slattery in Manchester as a family for a while, and it truly lived up to our expectations. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming a really lovely place to sit and enjoy a meal. We didn’t book in advance, so ended up waiting around 45 minutes, but that was our own fault. Once we were seated, the menu was full of tempting options and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Mark at the entrance had such a bubbly, friendly attitude he made us feel right at home. Our server, Kelly, was so thoughtful and made sure our halal dietary requirements were taken care of without any fuss. The food really was worth the wait. We’re already looking forward to coming back again!

Unbelievable !!!!!! Trust Slatterys with your cake dream and they will bring it to life. We ordered a Bassoon cake for our son's 18th last July . We just hoped for a cake that looked a bit like a Bassoon. As long as it resembled a Bassoon we'd have been delighted. We did NOT expect it to look EXACTLY like a Bassoon !!!! I'm not gonna lie I was in the shop in tears when I saw it. This review would be a thousand words long if I fully explained the back story behind it and how much it meant. Both our boys played it since they were little but it's much much more than that. We had everyone round at our house and at first glance they all thought it was an actual Bassoon. Slatterys came up trumps in every single detail..... and it was delicious.... AND we froze some, defrosted it weeks later and it was just as delicious. Was it expensive ??? I thought so when I ordered it but when I saw it I'd have genuinely paid double. Outstanding !!!!

Family brought us to Skattery’s as they are big fans and now i understand why. Where can i start about Slattery’s. Amazing is an understatement. The shop is like no other shop and being able to see staff actually making all the niceties was brilliant. Trying to choose something was terribly hard as the enticing smell of chocolate etc was very inviting, making it hard to choose. The cakes in display were wonderful and the pre-made cakes are excellent for that last minute celebration. We went upstairs to the restaurant fir lunch and the awesomeness continued. Just look at the food and see for yourself from my photos. I had a hit chocolate to finish off and it was by far the nicest hit chocolate i have ever tasted.

5 of us went during the week to try out the ‘viral’ Slattery Chocolate Challenge. Came out very disappointed when we all realised the only challenge was baring the taste of the dry chocolate cake, and the texture of the warm, flavourless whipped cream. The hot chocolate turned out to just be a tall drinking glass with the edges coated in chocolate, and filled with warm milk. Very well presented, with the fun inclusion of a sparkler (which one waitress did point quite dangerously close to one of our faces 😳). Overall lovely experience, which was definitely due to our group of people & other customers, not the workers / atmosphere.

Day 2

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Arcade Club, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to The Met. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Arcade Club in Bury is a sprawling multi-level arcade paradise for gamers of all ages. The club boasts a vast collection of over 100 classic and modern arcade machines, spread across two stories of an old mill. From retro games to pinball machines, Japanese arcades, PC gaming, and console gaming, there's something for everyone. The facilities are well-maintained with clean restrooms on every floor.
Went with my teenage son and we both had an amazing time. What an incredible place where they have truly thought of everything. We managed to play for about 10 hours or so with a break for tea. All the classic machines I remember were there.. with 2 of some of them! Yes, some of the machines had faults, mostly light gun type games but when you consider the age and sheer use these machines are receiving the fully functional selection on offer is more than impressive. Literally something for everyone.. could spend all week here. Safe to say we will definitely be returning and wish I'd visited way before now!

Honestly have nothing but the best things to say about this place!!! We went 3 years back and it's only got better, especially the toilets which needed sorting and they're now spot on. Great machines and truly something for everyone. For the price I don't think you can go wrong. It was busy but it was the last weekend of the summer holiday so can't complain. It's clean, well ran, well staffed and not many machines off/broken. Can't wait to go again!

The staff within thir venue are absolutely wonderful, my daughter lost her phone and they couldn't do enough to help. Ive never ever received a customer service this good. I will 100% come back. The game selection is the best ive seen in North West and most games have 0 waiting time to play on them. I would just like to illiterate how wonderful the whole staff team is, thank you so so much for going out your way on several occasions to try locate the phone and to comfort me when I was stressed. You are the best team ever!!!!

One of the best places to go in Manchester. The entry fee is very good value considering how much you'd pay for machines if they weren't free. The restaurant and drinks are also very reasonably priced which is surprising considering there's no other choices for food nearby.

What an absolute gem of a place!! 4 floors, FILLED with every kind of arcade game you could hope for, so no waiting in lines to get on the one decent game like in most other arcade places. A bar on each floor, making it really easy to get cold or hot drinks and a restaurant on the top floor selling pizzas, burger and hot dogs at half the price high street places charge. We had such a great day here and we didn't realise 8 hours had past. Will definitely be going again

I went here for a twitch event, it was a really fun event and a brilliant location. There are so many different machines to play on and they are all free to play. The site is over multiple floors, so do bear that in mind if you have limited mobility. The food and drinks were fairly priced and of good quality. I highly recommend giving this place a visit

Had a great time at Bury arcade club, Never been before and took my 10year old son to show him what games I used to play. You pay on entrance and then all machines are free to use. When walking in you’re presented with this huge room full of arcades, we played street fighter, ridge racer and moved on to Simpsons arcade game. Very disappointed my son got bored with the Simpsons game after stage one (when I was his age this was the game to play) my son wanted to play walking dead shooter but someone was on it so we went and shot some hoops then played guitar hero. We then went on walking dead and kept getting asked by a 7year old who wanted to play, we told him after we had played so his dad came and asked us to leave so they could play as we had been on it 10mins, he asked us to come back after his son had played and start again (we were playing the story and on stage 3) if your coming to an arcade please don’t be this guy 🤷🏻‍♂️ that’s not how arcades work… There are toilets nearby and even arcades in hallway outside toilets. You would have been relatively happy with your visit at this point, these are the amount of arcades machines you would expect in a typical U.K. arcade in 90’s and could spend and hour here.Whats not overly clear due to it being dark and noisy is this is floor 1 and there are stairs in the corner. When you go upstairs you realise the rooms above are even bigger! 1 floor has more arcades and couches with big screens and games consoles hooked up to them. It also had a circle desk setup with around 15 xboxs on it that the kids will quite happily sit at and play Minecraft/fortnite etc. I think this would be a great place to leave the older kids while you play some classic arcades. We couldn’t get of the controllers to work on the big screen tv consoles they just wouldn’t sync (I think kids had been swapped them around). There is a starwars battle pod here that was in great demand but we had a game of air hockey and eventually got a go on it. Next floor has mostly 80’s and 90’s consoles and tons of them! It also had a restaurant. We had a pizza each and I was impressed at the value, it was £5.99 each for a plate sized pizza, (they did burgers too) place was clean lots of staff about, hand sanitiser, napkins and condiments, Drinks were £1.50. I find a lot of places overprice food once your in but I found the found was very good value. They give you a buzzer when you order so you can carry on player games while you wait. The final floor had Japanese import games and was listed at pc rigs too but we didn’t find that. There was a room labeled adults only we didn’t go in I believe it may be VR, pinball but not 100% sure. All in all great visit, they stamp your hand when you go in so you can leave and come back, sessions were for a long time think it was 11-11 we booked 2-11 and went later in the day. There were a few machines that didn’t work with broken buttons but I’m sure they fix them when they break. If I lived local I would 100% have the yearly membership option! We went in school hols and it was busy but so much to do you never need to be idle. We are going to try the Blackpool one too at some point i believe it’s a bit smaller than bury.
Stephen D — Google review
Definitely worth the money, we will be going again this time we are going to go for longer as we didn’t have enough time to go on everything as we thought it was only going to be a small arcade. It has 3 floors of all different games. Drinks & food are cheap staff are lovely.

The East Lancashire Railway, a historic steam railway, has been an integral part of the Irwell Valley for almost two centuries. Spanning 12 miles through picturesque Lancastrian landscapes, it connects charming villages and bustling Victorian towns. The railway hosts various family-friendly events such as the popular Peppa Pig event and offers a range of options to cater to different preferences.
We are just back from another wonderful trip on the ELR having attended the Murder Mystery night which was brilliant. Top class entertainment from a talented production company who really worked hard to keep us all engaged and in total suspense. Not only was the evening intriguing but it was also highly amusing. This is a class outfit. The food and service were also excellent. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and the food quality was exceptional. The train was stunning as was the steam engine. All in all highly recommended. We will be back……Thank-you

Wonderful experience, made all the better for incredibly friendly and helpful staff on the train. Nothing was too much trouble and they were efficient and chatty to those of us enjoying our day. The journey was lots of fun - real steam, chugging, tooting whistles and bouncy seats! A really great day out. Kids are free this year too to celebrate the 200th anniversary of train travel so even better!

Visited on the 200 years weekend which was very busy but easy to get on various trains though out the day, except the vintage cream tea train as it only had two carriages. Some lovely interaction with the actors on the train and friendly volunteers all day. Good long ride with interesting towns to visit along the way.

An excellent evening's entertainment, I wondered how a play was going to be performed in a 1950s railway buffet car, but it was well thought out, and the actors did a great job,a very versatile group. The meal was excellent, as well as the service given by the very young staff, who were all very efficient and extremely polite. This experience was bought for us as a gift but we'll be returning soon to try another mystery murder trip. Can thoroughly recommend this experience.

If you enjoy traveling not only through space but also through time, I highly recommend a visit to the East Lancashire Railway. Here, you can ride in charming vintage carriages and listen to fascinating stories shared by the passionate railway staff. Along the route, you'll pass through picturesque towns and villages, each offering its own unique charm. The surrounding landscapes are stunning, and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy delicious local food. Be sure to also check out the nearby transport museum, which houses an impressive collection of classic cars, trucks, and buses—an excellent addition to your historical journey!

Where to begin? (and I'm sorry it's taken us a year to realise we'd not written a review!) We had the most magical Steampunk wedding at the ELR last year! Lorna and her team were incredible, everyone was as excited for our day, as we were! Lorna made planning everything an absolute breeze, she made sure we had time to decide each detail, but never overwhelmed us.Each tweak or idea we had, was met with excitement. From our unusual haggis choice for the evening buffet, to all of the bubble guns for our guests.Nothing was an issue at all. We wanted an intimate ceremony, with just immediate family, then a large celebration in the evening. The Ramsbottom platform was absolutely perfect for the ceremony and drinks reception, all the gorgeous details creating a beautiful atmosphere. The observation saloon carriages were comfortable and decadent. It was simply a magical experience to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea whilst riding on a steam train! Our evening reception on the Bolton Street platform was amazing, the food was absolutely delicious and the platform looked incredible. From start to finish, our day ran like clockwork and was truly magical. We cannot thank you all enough for creating the perfect day!

A amazing Heritage Railway to visit if your a train enthusiast and your passing through Bury and got just enough time to take a round trip on ELR! The other side of the stations sits a Transport Museum and a path over to the tracks where you can get pictures and videos of the trains coming in or out of Bury Bolton Street station. If you would want to or never came here I would start making plans to! 5 stars highly recommended.

2nd time ordering here after a night out. 2nd time of getting my order wrong. Ended up with nuggets that weren't mine but my friends and they were missing there's. Ordered a chicken kebab with salad and garlic mayo, got home and got over done chicken with no salad and yogurt and mint sauce. It wasn't even in the rush. We were the only people in the takeaway! The food that I didn't get was questionable. They clearly don't re check the order before it being dispensed. I may have had a drink but I know what I've paid for and expect to be given what I paid for....
Lucy W — Google review
The first time I ordered and unfortunately the food was not good. The spicy chicken burger had no flavor and was completely covered in mayonnaise. The chips were cold, small pieces and rubbery. The grilled meat was mild. The spicy wings were oily and had no flavor. I certainly won't make the mistake of ordering from here again.
چوب ب — Google review
Food gets 5 stars they lose one for delivery can sometimes be a 2 hour wait and we only live a mile away . To be fair this is a very busy takeaway so always ask for delivery time first . once we had a mix up and waited 3 hours but they apologized and put extra box of chicken pieces in with a sorry note written in marker pen on the top .. Good quality fresh chicken coated and deep fried ( my Wife gets the boneless strips but I find them way too salty coating although it's fresh cut chicken breast pieces underneath which taste fine for me if I pull all the coating off ) I always ask for crispy chips they have a habit of rushing them and you get soggy undercooked chips sometimes but if you ask they always come crispy ( they should be timed correctly and should always be perfect but I guess on a busy night they just rush stuff out unless you ask ) We have ordered from here for many years I like the fact they use fresh chicken not frozen rubbish you can really tell as it comes juicy and tender not dry inside like you get from frozen chicken . I suppose if you have just drunk 10 pints of beer in the pub and want a drunken supper no big deal , but we order totally sober at home most of the time so we notice the quality you get from here so worth the wait . Overall we have had chicken from here for many years and always been good , delivery can be hit and miss quite often well over an hours wait other times bang it's on your door in 30 minutes ( always quick when you're not bothered and 1.5hours when you are starving ) My Wife has had Cheese and tomato pizza a few times it's ok . No idea on burger or kebabs from here never tried them .

Staff are rude and need educating, food I got waited over 2 hours and when it came was cold. Rang up and told them, all I got was a rude guy on the phone that did not apologise, this place needs to be shut down as clearly the owners have employed a bunch of animals to run it. The food was not even acknowledged by my dog, that says it all. Even giving it a 1 star is too much, would love to give it a zero star
Jumbo D — Google review
The food was not cooked properly and the burger were looking to be left over from three days before it made my little son sick and I would not recommend it to anyone to go there. I called them and told your food was not hygienic. I was only told sorry.

We have always been very happy with Dixy Chicken Bury. One of our favourite!! Can’t wait to visit again. Me and boys love our chicken hamburgers, wraps and fries. The spicy sauce and “potato salt” on fries are absolutely delicious and makes all the difference.

Wouldnt bother! If its not bad enough the food takes an hour longer than it should we was delivered the wrong order and told it would take another 40 minutes. Then on picking the food up we was told the other customer laughed that he got our much more expensive order and they didnt bother to even apologise let alone offer a refund or some type of apology. Terrible customer service!!!

Diner
H Diner & Takeaway is undeniably the finest eatery in the United Kingdom. Its cuisine is unparalleled and serves as the sole source of excitement when visiting this less-than-ideal country to see family. Upon arrival at Manchester airport, one's immediate query should be, "Where can I find H's?" The food here is so exceptional that it would be a daily indulgence if one did not reside in Australia.
Amazing. Just had breakfast for the 3 off us. Great food. Great service. Very fast and they come to your table. So it's all great 👍

Excellent disabled facilities, staff are amazing! Helpful, friendly and welcoming. Food is very reasonably priced, delicious and they cater for my dietary needs. Very happy customers will be back next week!

Will definately NOT be my last visit to this all-day diner, ample free off road parking and food cooked to order. Greeted with a smile the whole place is clean and tidy, all open plan so you can see into the kitchens I havent had fried bread in a long time and it was lovely. I had the full English with a coffee and a bottle of fresh orange juice. While I was there regulars came in so thats always a good sign of a quality well established cafe.

Great for a proper breakfast. Coffee was poor but I'll just get a tea next time. I would go again as the food was spot on.

Lovely food at a great price, it wasn't too busy so no I had no waiting. The staff were polite. I had no trouble parking, but the car park isn't massive, so I can see it filling up quickly when it's busier.

Great value for the money, if you love a big breakfast then highly recommend, plus other options available, staff very friendly.

Nestled in the heart of Moorside, just a mile from Bury's bustling town center, Clarence Park stands as the largest municipal park in the area. Since its opening in 1888, this charming green space has consistently earned accolades for its pristine facilities and upkeep. Visitors can stroll along stately lime avenues or relax on neat lawns while enjoying views of a delightful mock Tudor lodge on Walmersley Road. Clarence Park is truly an oasis for those seeking tranquility amidst life's chaos.
Very nice compact park with special areas for children, fitness, dogs and community growing. Also has a very good community café.

Skate parks decent, isn’t massive though. There’s a park just next to it, some football fields and usually an ice-cream van during the summer. Would recommend for a free day out with the kids.
Bunnies N — Google review
Something for everyone, ducks and swans in the pond with a machine to buy feed from (take a bag on container as dispensed loose), football pitches, tennis courts, kids play areas and free parking.
Sam M — Google review
Lovely small local park, behind the lido is an extensive series of woodlands with trails cross crossing them, you can easily walk for a couple of hours. Nice to see the model boat club is still running, it must be 40 years since I last saw them as a child.
Steve H — Google review
A lovely park, great for a short walk. It has a beautiful large angling pond with ducks and geese which is lovely to walk around. A playpark, basketball and tennis courts all available also. A popular dog walking location. Would recommend for those wanting a short walk to stretch legs and enjoy some nice scenery.

The Fusilier Museum in Bury is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and those with a connection to the Lancashire Fusiliers. Situated across from the Bury Art Museum, this well-designed museum showcases uniforms, medals, and artifacts spanning over 300 years of the regiment's esteemed legacy. Interactive displays offer insights into significant conflicts such as the Battle of the Plains of Abraham and the Napoleonic Wars. The museum also pays homage to General James Wolfe.
Been taking my elder 2 kids over the years -now starting all over with my younger one..not gone inside due to closing time but will definitely come and have a look and have a good tour into history and man.. We do love passing by and just sitting down for a while and taking a breather!! A great garden of peace!! Me and my little boy finally went, a great tour, thoroughly enjoyed it, great for kids and family who loves exploring and finding!! Staff was very friendly and kind-didn't need to pay for the entry, so thanking you!! (Will go again to explore 2nd floor, couldn't see all due to appointment)!

I love the military museums, so today, I went to Bury. This is home to the Fusiliers Museum. A fantastic welcome from the member of staff on the desk. He spoke to my husband and our pal while I browsed the gift shop looking for a magnet. Please, guys, you need to get some with the name of the museum on 😊 Well, what a collection and what a building! Everything was spaced out nicely, no clutter that you find with these types of museums. Well done 👏 So much history to read and look at. I am so glad we went today, with being Easter weekend, it was quiet. We more or less had the place to ourselves, so we could take our time looking around. Once we had finished, we popped to Olive's for a coffee. The cafe is situated in the museum. Disabled access to each floor via a lift. Toilets are spotless, too. Please go and visit and take a walk around the well maintained garden of remembrance.

What a lovely museum. We went in the school break and kids got in for free 😊. Great things to look at and do. Has a little virtual shooting range for just £1 a go. Cute little shop too for little gifts. Lovely receptionist, very welcoming. If you are in bury must go here.

Fantastic visit! This is not a very big space but it is packed with interesting items. 3 floors! If you stopped and read everything, you could easily spend a day here. The entrance fee is under £5 and lasts for a year! Best value I have come across. I really did enjoy my experience here and wish I had had more time.

Fantastic museum telling the truly amazing over 300 years history of the Lancashire Fusiliers under its various different names. Fascinating collection of uniforms, medals and artefacts displayed with informative labels. The regiment were even awarded six Victoria Crosses in just one day during the dreadful Gallipoli Campaign. That is commemorated in the garden outside where there is also a WWI memorial that was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens who also designed the London Cenotaph. Excellent value and there's also a cafe on site.
Nuts — Google review
Great history of the Fusilier regiment. Interesting information and pictures. The exhibits are broken up into eras and years and follows in order of conflicts.
Sue D — Google review
Excellent museum ; you can easily spend an half day if you like to discover all the details. You find an historical side of the wars and warriors through the ages. There is as well often an exhibition about different topics, last time I've been in it was regards Kosovo 30 years celebration. The ticket entrance is for one year, you can go back whenever you wish within the year. There is as well a large memory shop and a restaurant.
Charlotte P — Google review
Nice place. I’ve been a couple of times specifically for the comic con meet and greets held here but the actual museum is great to look at as well. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a café located upstairs above the entrance area.

Specialty Museums
Nestled within the historic Castlecroft Goods Warehouse, which dates back to 1846, Bury Transport Museum is a delightful destination for anyone fascinated by industrial heritage. This Grade II-listed building showcases an impressive collection of vintage vehicles, including steam tractors and trams that transport visitors back in time. One of the museum's highlights is Hilda, a remarkable steam roller from 1921 that served for half a century before being saved from obscurity.
Spent a few days in Bury with family and we decided to visit this great gem. All the historical vehicles and exhibits in great condition. What makes this place stand out is spending time talking to the team. It’s great having the physical items to look at but talking to the team who spend time keeping this place running and have used some of it in their careers is priceless. Keep up the good work.

Enjoyed a visit here as part of a trip to East Lancs Railway. Well laid out exhibits with information on each which was easy to read. Everywhere was disabled accessible. All the volunteers were most helpful. An hour is plenty time to have a good look around but well worth a visit.
Philip D — Google review
Spent £8 for me and my daughter to enter. Lots of old cars, few trains and trucks. Annoyingly every train and bus is closed off, so you can't have a look inside, the interactive puzzle board in children's area doesn't work, the information TV doesn't work and the miniture railway has 1 train running. Left after 15 minutes with an unhappy and disappointed child who wanted to go on some old trains. Bottom line not worth the money.
Ciaran W — Google review
Very good museum, well laid out and organised and lots of exhibits packed into the place. Value for money was terrific and so was the range of vehicles on display. You had everything featured from a steam train, to a double decker bus, a traction engine right down to a bicycle. Couldn't fault the variety on offer. Only negative point was the uneven cobbled flooring, it would be difficult for elderly and disabled people to navigate their ways around. Apart from that, superb.
Daniel B — Google review
Absolutely super find for a family day out! £13 Entry for a Large Family! Or Free if you have tickets for the Heritage Railway. Warm and Informative Greeting from the 2 Volunteers on Reception - lots of leaflets and tips as we looked round. Easy to find, well signed from Bury main roads and large free car parking. Excellent facilities for wheelchair users (although a lot of the groundwork is cobbled they have laid heavy matting downstairs and have 2 Lifts, Immaculate Toilets and upstairs all wheelchair friendly with wide spaces) Super interactive area upstairs for the children of all areas including toys, learning hot spots (press, twiddle knows etc) and dress up area. Although a lot of the exhibits you can't go in due to conversation, you can go right up to touch them, read the info and take photos. Children are encouraged to go into the buses and have a drive! Highlight of our day was the Mini Model Railway and the volunteer who explained its history! Fantastic Way to spend a couple of hours emerged in History. Learning and spending some family time. A Big Thank You to all the volunteers who keep everything immaculate, give such good infomations and warm greetings You are Angels! Especially the chap who has restored the Grey Tractor <3

Visited June 2025 An excellent little museum, full of transport exhibits with a local feel. Locomotives from the Lancs and Yorkshire Railway, buses from Bury and Bolton, and whole load of other stuff. It's situated in an old engine shed close to the East Lancs Railway, and is quite the little gem. There's no charge if you have an East Lancs Rover Ticket, but I got the feeling that the entry fee would be reasonable if you were buying that alone. The guys on the door, the local were a hoot and made us very welcome. Highly recommended.

Pub
The pub Earl of Derby is highly praised for its outstanding cuisine and excellent service. Customers have raved about the delicious food and fantastic drinks offered at reasonable prices. The staff members are known for their friendliness, efficiency, and going above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. With its lively atmosphere on Saturday nights, featuring a great DJ, this pub has become a popular spot for both dining and leisurely gatherings with friends or family.
Went in there around 9.50pm craving a cuppa tea and some drinks to quench the thirst! We strolled in after a wonder further down exploring, walked back to an almost empty pub, where they served us with 2 lovely hot cup of teas with some neat rum, and delicious blackcurrant with lemonade and a pack of cheese and onion crisps. Was absolutely great fun!

Lunch time catch up. Drinks were quick and reasonably priced. Ordered food, steak & gammon. £15 for 2 meals. Great value, great food.

Friendly and welcoming upon arrival and staff could not do enough to accommodate us while we were there And also very professionally run Which makes for a refreshing change

One of the nicer pubs in the area — and the member of staff who served me was probably the most attentive that day — not sure what the constant deliveries were about that I kept seeing though (looked like takeaways) 😂
Jay B — Google review
Afternoon tea was really nice, staff were very accomodating and asked if we would like more sandwiches.. Only thing was they were running out of prosecco! Still worth a visit and good value for money.

Walked in the pub at 12.21,we ordered 2 drinks and two meals for my partner and I, 1300 hours no sign of our meals, approached the bar attendant to ask her why we have been waiting so long for food when the pub was very quiet, she replied it will be a couple of mins, we finally got our food at 1315, without any apology or some sort, or why it was so long.Train up your staff to be more polite and to serve customers correctly, The food after that wasn’t the best. Awful all round
Philip T — Google review
Visiting the market today and popped in for some dinner before we headed back. Got served by Emma and she was very helpful with reccomending which mix and match small dishes were the best. Food was great, 5 of them little plates was loads of food for us and didn't cost the earth. Would definitely reccomend to anyone who's nearby!
Harry B — Google review
Absolutely disgusted with the service I have just had. Went in for some tea. Ordered mixed grill child's meal and fish and chips. Took over 40 minutes so I asked can you check on my order please. The bar man opened the lift and behold it was just sat there stone cold. His response was I didn't hear it I was too busy. and to my absolute shock he said do you want me to warm it up for you. Bare in mind this was a steak and a fish. We didn't have time for that as we had our 3 year old child with us and the time was 6pm. Will not be going again I am appalled we didn't even get an apology. Very very poor from the bar man. The staff need to be looked at after that disgraceful service.

Indian restaurant
Jewel In The Crown is a traditional Indian restaurant that offers classic Indian and sizzling Balti dishes in a high-ceilinged dining room. Customers can enjoy a variety of delicious starters, such as poppadoms and king prawn butterfly, followed by mouthwatering main dishes like lamb tikka masala and karahi lamb. The food is of good quality and has a unique taste. While some customers question its authenticity, the standout dish is the Karahi Lamb.
Very highly recommended. This has to be the nicest Indian meal I’ve had in a very long time. Brilliant service from very helpful, friendly staff, it’s also reasonably priced. Piping hot food that is of a high standard. The portions aren’t too big, but enough to be able to enjoy everything we ordered. The garlic naan is so good, as are the curries. Very clean throughout, including the toilets, which I find incredibly important.
Karen K — Google review
They might have been too busy, as there were two large parties, but my samosa was hot outside, cold inside, which is quite inappropriate. The saag gosht was ok, a bit small compared to the large balti portions others were getting.
D K — Google review
We came for lunch on Sunday as they have an offer of 50% off when 2 or more dine. I don't rate the mixed starter for 2 but the chicken korai was lovely. It did look like the portions were smaller than usual but we left satisfied. I would go again.
Stephanie S — Google review
Great food, pleasant staff, nice atmosphere. Always enjoyed our meals here and highly recommend the place.
David J — Google review
Had early dinner with my wife today. We ordered popaddoms, king prawn butterfly as starters, lamb tikka masala, karahi lamb, plain naan and fried rice as our main dishes. Every item was good quality and tasty. Though we were not sure that they were India authentic. The dish stood out the meal was Karahi Lamb. Costwise, we enjoyed 20% off our total bill, it was really a good deal. We will definitely visit again to enjoy the 20% off offer.
Martin W — Google review
Warm welcome. Lots of food servers, over bearing slightly. Food arrived in good time The was food was average standard not for the deserning palate. This was reflected in the price of the meal.

Fast food restaurant
Chunky Chicken is a straightforward eatery that offers delivery, dine-in, and takeaway options. They specialize in piri piri chicken burgers, wraps, and salads. Customers highly recommend their peri peri burger with tender and flavorful chicken. However, some weren't fond of the addition of beef to this burger. The restaurant prides itself on serving fresh food consistently. Another must-try item is their Peri Chicken fillet burger, which is said to be the best in the northern hemisphere.
This is probably the best takeaway in Greater Manchester! I’ve been going here for a few years and the food quality is amazing for the prices. The place is clean and organised and it’s always busy but they never lower their standard. If you’re in Bury and want some food, this is a must go place 😁🔥 I’d recommend the uzi burger or inferno burger 😋 Honestly, this is my favourite place to get takeaway food as the quality of the meat is amazing and it’s clearly fresh. I recommend it to everyone who loves flavorful and delicious food 💯

⛔️ Do not park on the smudged double reds outside the take away or you will get stung with a fine. Either foot patrol it or park else where. The lines aren’t clearly visible on a night and there’s no clear sign post.‼️ As far as the food standards. This is one of the very few places that still does a whopping peri fillet. Every Chunky Chicken including the head quarters in rochdale has declined. This branch has maintained their standards and do not take short cuts.
Kamran C — Google review
Yousaf has amazing customer service, and going there alone is worth it. The food is very cheap compared to the quality. The chips are crunchy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. The burger was not very juicy, but at this price, it's really worth it. The hot wings were the same, not juicy but not too oily. Overall, it's the best out there in terms of price and quality.
Kamil Y — Google review
We ordered two full Chicken Platters, one with Rice and the other with Chips. The Chicken was hard and Chewy as though it was overcooked and certainly not fresh. The Rice was also hard and not fresh although the Chips and Salad was on point. Must say l was let down with the food unfortunately. The atmosphere and service was pleasant and the shop was super clean. We will be trying the Burgers, Wraps and Pizza 🍕 next time and I'll again leave my honest review as always. Do give this place a try with friends and Family 👍🏼
Mr 0 — Google review
£10 for a diced chicken box, for it to be completely dry and not include salad or sauces. When asked, the worker said "you need to ask for it" and it's optional. But on the website, it's included already? And the boxes were already wrapped. The store is always in a rush to get orders out that there's no emphasis on service or care
GT — Google review
Went here for the first time the order day after being recommended it by a few people, kindly offered me a peri burger to try as it was our first time, every single thing we took a bite out of was cooked perfectly and tasted good, the popcorn chicken and peri flavouring were definitely the highlight for me. Will definitely come back again

Went late at night the other day and was met with great service. Ordered a wrap meal and even though the speed that the food was brought out could’ve been better, the standard of food made up for it. Pricing was reasonable for the quantity of food and I would definitely recommend going if you feel peckish late at night.
Noah S — Google review
Dear Owner , just for improvise, There’s a generational issue (with your worker, or manufactural defect) here some folks genuinely i believed, ( explain them they customers buy food that's why business runs and they get paid, they don't gives gold eggs which have values) no humbleness , seem like thugs. 1st . if you keep these on work soon more of more customers got dishearten coz of them , otherwise your not the only one who serve food on this earth. ( your fries portion was quite enough but there is over smart Gen telling others Infront of customers, don't do this , if he is your worker or family, he is just cutting your business. Chicken breast in wraps ? Sure, it’s lean but it’s also dry, bland, and about as exciting as a spreadsheet. Real wraps deserve juicy thigh or chicken strips meat, marinated and grilled or deep fried not something that tastes like it came from a gym meal prep box. that mixing everything together and slapping on a trendy name makes it gourmet. It doesn’t. It makes it a mess. Respect the roots of the cuisine before remixing it. it's like mixing of Pulao ≠ Biryani Mixing rice with a few frozen veg and calling it biryani is like calling instant noodles “ramen.” There’s a difference between layering flavours and just layering ingredients.

Was looking for a nice place for a walk when visiting Bury area. Easy to find, plenty of parking and well marked walking area. Nice walk along river. Lots of dog walkers in the open areas. Art installations here and there. there is a pub and a small ice cream shop/cafe. Had take away from the cafe and ate at one of the many picnic tables. Worth a visit.

Great place to go for a walk and allow your kids and dogs to run free. Great river to play had climb around in for kids all safe as long as you are a responsible parent. Lovely cafe for icecreams coffees and a super old school pub with amazing beer garden next to the steam railway. Great place for a sunny family afternoon. Bring towels

Only went here for a short while however wanting to go back. It was a beautiful scenic walk with a nice little cafe across the bridge also leads to the burrs train station which is where we went beautiful when the steam trains go across.

A wonderful place to go. The park and walks are exceptional. The artifacts defunct old mill can be seen all-over. And there is a pub and café close by. We stayed at the caravan club site, which was excellent and handy for the train which runs close by. To conclude: Burrs park is time well spent but Bury isn't.

It is regarded as one of the best away grounds due to its good views and legroom in the away end, friendly stewards, and decent facilities. The Sports Bar offers affordable beer prices at three pounds per pint.
Really friendly club. Dad used to play for Bury so he had a tour and then lunch and watched the match in 1885 suite. Great hospitality.

Came to watch our local team play bury. We managed to park on the stadium car park directly outside, which wasn't too badly priced at £5. The match day staff didn't really know where to go ! when we asked where the away fans had to enter, We kept getting told different things ! We eventually worked it out and got in. The seating was good, great view of the pitch ! Toilets were gross ! And the little food shack was basic. Home fans looked like they had better options.

Looking forward to this one the most when the new season fixtures came out... Great ground....glad they're on their way back (great players at the moment as well....should walk this league this year)
Richard S — Google review
Plenty of parking , the 3g pitch is immaculate. Nice bar area
Chris L — Google review
Gigg Lane is great - it's really well organized in terms of entrance into the ground, with multiple options for buying food and drinks once inside (1 x drinks only stall per larger stand, 1 x food & drink per larger stand). QR code online tickets accepted no issue - as well as card and cash payments accepted to buy tickets on the door, and for food & drink. Great views of the pitch from all levels of the stands which is a massive plus. Relaxed atmosphere and unreserved seating available, being able to choose your seats on arrival is great. Excellent value for tickets, food and drink, family friendly also. Will definitely continue to attend the occasional game for the foreseeable!
Hattie B — Google review
Incredible to see this stadium back on its feet, after a difficult period in the club's history. Facilities are obviously not the most modern but it's really important for the community. If you are in the area I'd try and visit if you can!
Andrei R — Google review
Love this place. One of the best away grounds there is. £3 a pint in the Sports Bar and good views and legroom in the away end. Decent facilities in the ground as well and friendly stewards and the Bury fans are one of the nicest I've met.

Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre, housed in a grand Edwardian building, offers a warm and friendly environment to explore the cultural heritage of Bury. The museum showcases international and local art, including works by renowned artists like LS Lowry and Edwin Henry Landseer. Visitors can also enjoy the Bury Art Shop and Tinas Tearoom on-site.
Such an amazing museum! First time visiting Bury today, with a family member and, this was a really worthwhile trip. I enjoyed thoroughly seeing the Turner Paintings, alongside the excellent video installation and a breathtaking painting, "War", by Anna Lea Merritt, which powerfully emphasises the need for peace in times past and present. I highly recommend this museum for solo and group visits, as it is a gem in the wonderful town of Bury.

Very enjoyable. Both staff and volunteers were incredibly welcoming and kind. Enjoyed our visit and will be returning in the future.

Excellent museum with many fascinating artefacts and information about Bury and the local areas rich history. Some wonderful artworks in the galleries. There are clearly many events and activities that also take place in this attractive building. All this and it's free entrance though donations are most welcome.

Nice place, I took a service user with dementia and we had a wander round. It has some interesting things to look at although it is a bit sparse. The museum bit downstairs is good, there is a bit more to look at there. I have nothing to complain about though as it is free. The cafe is very nice and worth popping in to.

We had an event last night at the Art Museum which was a triumph. The staff went over and above to make it a success. We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful building filled with great exhibitions. It has a warm atmosphere and a real community feel. I can highly recommend it for your next event. Steve Walton was so helpful. Thanks to the whole team.

Overall a lovely experience . For inclusion and accessibility it's great that entry is free . The building itself is magnificent and a number of art works within are grand too. Good to see the more modern pieces so that art isn't fixed but evolving and dynamic . The ( local history) museum section is rather nice, if small . I think I'd liked to have seen a section on the religious heritage of the town especially Jewish influence . Great shop and art shop I thought . Tearoom is presently closed until new franchise . I hope this will be awarded soon and well-marketed to get people into the gallery and the teashop. Reasonable toilets if a bit limited on space . I asked a number of people where the gallery was in the town. None knew. The gallery would do well to find more strategies to reach local residents and target groups to maximize connection with the gallery and it's treasures. I suspect the life drawing advertised is a step in that direction. Similarly, I thought the staff were hard work to engage with and lacking in warmth to guests, though helpful and efficient . Overall, a pleasant visit and if I happened to be in Bury again I'd probably visit a 2nd time ( after a visit to Jolly Roger for food where the staff were warm and customer facing from which the gallery could learn ) . If you're local, do support this gallery and museum . It has huge potential .

On a recent shopping trip we decided to have a walk around the back streets of Bury. We then came across the museum and art gallery. It's not full of exhibits but it's got some interesting ones nevertheless. The little tea room looked very nice as well. We might try this on another visit 🤗

Peel Tower, a striking monument in Ramsbottom, Lancashire, was built in 1852 to honor Sir Robert Peel, a former prime minister from the area. The tower offers stunning panoramic views of the region and is a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers. It sits atop Holcombe Hill and provides breathtaking vistas of Bury, Ramsbottom, Manchester, and beyond.
Spectacular walk and views across the region and Manchester city in the distance. Plenty of areas to park on the roadsides and different paths splitting off in several directions to explore. Exquisite. Didn't go inside so not sure if you can or not, but I imagine you'd get some splendid views from the top. Seeing it from the outside is enough, however.

A knackering walk if your not up to it or, have a sore knee like me. But a beautiful view once you get to the seat about half way up like we did. I am presuming the tower and the view from the top are breathtaking.

Wonderful time, walked up with my 6 year old, she loved it. Took about 30 mins. The views at the top are brilliant. Really peaceful and spent a good few hours relaxing and walking around the back of peel tower too

Holcombe Hill is a fantastic spot for a scenic walk, offering breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside. Located in Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester, it’s a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. The climb to the top is moderately challenging but well worth it, especially for the panoramic views from the Peel Tower. On clear days, you can see as far as North Wales and the Lake District. The area is rich in history and wildlife, making it a great escape from city life. Whether you’re after a peaceful walk or a rewarding hike, Holcombe Hill is definitely worth a visit.

I regularly walk & have passed Peel Tower for many year's but never been up. Fine Spring day,i had already looked at the route upto the tower, starting at the carpark below.. I followed the directions, but must have missed something, but got up there eventually. Although a nice warm day,the views were a little bit hazy, not so clear, but still what a panoramic picture. Just makes you wonder who & how they built this ?.. A quick brew, then i followed the path back down,a little bit rough,so correct footwear is essential. Back to the car & onto the next...Sure i'll be back on a better day.

Really great night out. Inside of pub is beautiful and the drinks are great. I had 2 rounds of trailblaizer shots and what the guy behind the bar (I think his name is Dylan) called a death shot. He personally really made my night. Will be visiting again with my mates.

Friendly service, clean tables and a relaxing atmosphere. They have televisions for the sport and they play music. The drink was cheap and they do an offer on pizzas. It was very much similar to a weatherspoons pizza but in a good way. There was no grease dripping off it. A very nice pub.

The food is soooo good and the portions are really generous! My mum and I stopped here today for some lunch as I just moved here and had been wanting to try it and neither of us could finish our plate. Really traditional home style chips, pie was lovely, burger was tasty, and we didn't wait long considering it's a Saturday. There is a small car park at the back of it and there's seating outside as well as in, and plenty of TVs for sports, as well as a pool table and dart board. Will definitely go back!

If you're on the hunt for a top-notch fish and chips experience, look no further than The Fish & Chip Co. This delightful spot has garnered rave reviews for its generous portions and scrumptious offerings, including gluten-free options that are hard to find in Bury. The atmosphere is clean and welcoming, making it a perfect place to enjoy your meal. With easy parking right outside, it's convenient too!
Best chippy around the area and would go as far to say best chippy in the whole of Greater Manchester/ Lancashire. Kelly has been there for many many years now and is the face of the place, she is absolutely fantastic and her customer service is amazing. The food is always consistently good and I would recommend for anybody. Been going here now since I was a young kid and all staff have always been polite and friendly to all. Specifically, Kelly has always continued to make this place a great place for customers and is a credit to not just the company, but to the whole area.

Was looking for somewhere to eat as I'm away for business and came across this Indian restaurant with great reviews, so decided to try. Reviews don't do the place justice, food was top quality and highly recommend this place, bring your own alcohol (always a bonus). Had Tandoori mix grill and was able to chop and change a couple of items. My server Sami was great, made me feel completely at home and took good care of me ensuring my experience of this restaurant would be a positive one. And it was. 11/10 highly recommend again 🍽

Went in on a Monday night with my girlfriend, turns out they do a buffet on a Monday night which we didn’t know about. We came in very early in the evening and they made the extra effort to get all the buffet stuff out for us quickly. 5 starters and 5 mains for a very reasonable price of £17. Good quality food and good variety with both chicken and lamb curries. What has made me leave the review is the service we received by a member of staff with a pony tail, which was genuinely excellent - we’ll be back again.

Got to say..the best place for an Indian meal. Food is outstanding and service excellent.

Shocking. Ordered food at 17:00 asking for delivery at 19:15, which is plenty of notice for them to deliver, apparently not because it gets to 20:00 and nothing has been delivered I rang them multiple times yet it was going to voice mail. I had to drive down the shop and ask where my food was, turns out they haven’t even bloody started making it yet. Don’t order from this place unless you want to wait till your 70 years of age for it to arrive.
