Department store
Art supply store
Furniture store
Chain retailer selling home, garden & leisure products, including furniture & kitchen equipment.
Visited at lunchtime and it was completely empty. But the food was wonderful and the service just the same. Beautifully cooked and lovely and hot! Very friendly staff. Well reccommended
Philip F — Google review
Rebecca was extremely helpful generally but when searching for something I had seen online she went the extra mile by explaining the Range Marketplace as the reason he item I was after was not in stock. She then showed me a variety of alternative items that fit what I was searching for and although I did not find exactly what I wanted, Rebecca's cheerful demeanour and her eagerness to help have ensured that I will return to this shop.
Indiana C — Google review
Staff are very friendly and helpful, 2 hours parking, well stocked, convenient for the town centre , plenty of bargains , lots of stuff you want or need, highly recommended
Keith B — Google review
Has a good variety of stuff, but often the shelves are empty or incredibly untidy. I go in sometimes for art materials, and many a time the art sections have been a mess, full of damaged stock. The staff does their best - I feel like the shop is understaffed.
Kell P — Google review
I love the Range. However I do find this particular store really untidy and having to find members of staff for prices off items on numerous different items, which is super frustrating. It's such a shame as this store is closest for me, but I prefer to travel to another area.
Lisa A — Google review
Had to travel from Wigan for a click and collect order of wallpaper. We joined a quite lengthy queue as there was only 2 checkouts open. Took about 30 minutes from arrival to leaving.
John B — Google review
I like the stock available to buy here & the choice is excellent! Pricing can vary but there is always something for everyone here. Unfortunately, I lost £5 refund as the card was out of date & there were no refund cards in stock at all for the staff to transfer the £5 over for me. I have also chosen items with price tag on then got to the till only to find it is a lot more expensive AND the managerial staff have had absolutely no intention to discount for the inconvenience. Most other big stores are happy to give further discounts but here I get the impression they would rather eat glass than knock something off the price for you.
Deb — Google review
My favourite place to go for a bit of retail therapy. I like the spray paints they have on offer, they've helped bring many of my cosplays to life.

The primary road in the area is Church Street, where you can find the Church Square Shopping Centre. Additionally, there is the more recent Hardshaw Centre which houses prominent retail chains. Independent stores are situated on Bridge Street, Duke Street, and Westfield Street. While the number of shops may be limited, it is still recommended to pay a visit. The glass museum located nearby offers an intriguing experience and has a charming café situated alongside the canal.
We visited from Heswall on the Wirral. It reminded me of the strand (bootle) circa 1998. Really enjoyed sitting outside the church listening to the live music - Double bass, digital keyboard, jazz/swing. Never got the chance to visit the world of glass but can’t wait to return.

St Helen's town centre is a disgrace, shopping centre you call it, there's not many shops open, they've all gone to the retail parks. I feel so sorry for the few shops there is how they are making any profit I don't know. St Helens councillors don't know what they are doing they've ruined St Helen's.
Ann N — Google review
A nice little shopping town. Parked in the Tontine short stay car park. It needs a good lick of paint. We came out into the town by the Church Square shopping centre. A vast array of shops inside with all the usual names. A nice church in the middle which had a little fair being set up infront. Nice shops, clean area. Would visit again
Paul W — Google review
I used to like coming here since I was a kid and this shopping centre used to be good and it was good when St Helen’s had a hmv years ago unfortunately there are any closed shops there and this is getting like a ghost town and this has gone really bad and it’s not much there and I wish it can go back to the way it used to be and bring back hmv
John M — Google review
Not what it used to be, needs more shops and more parking, If parking was free they'd probably fill the shop premises but its St.helens council and they haven't got a clue how to run anything..
Wilfred D — Google review
This area really needs some regeneration with it being in the heart of St Helen’s. Was sad to see so many shops closed down or out of business. There still is many people about but to pull more in this place needs some Cleaning up and TLC desperately.

Called into the bank did a little retail therapy nipped into one beyond and came across a bargain selection box 5 bars of chocolate £2.00 and not small the size you get if you purchase them as a single bar work it out folks 40p a bar 👍👍👍

It is convenient to access a diverse range of shops located nearby each other at The Hardshaw Centre. Many establishments in the city center are shutting down, possibly due to plans of demolishing it for hotel construction. Visitors appreciate shopping there, regardless of their place of residence. They enjoy both charity shops as well as popular chain stores without facing excessive crowding commonly found elsewhere.
Wonderful place to shop. I have been going there off and on for over 18 years.

Pretty glum looking place with a very limited range of shops (TJ Hughes, One Below, Home Bargains, Bargain Land, Shoe Zone and a few others of this ilk), which I guess is OK if you like that sort of thing. I think there were only about 10 shops IN TOTAL in the centre. On the flip side, plenty of cheap parking available.
Dr M — Google review
Hardshaw Centre is in the process of closing down due to the redevelopment of the town centre. There are very few shops still remaining in the centre. I will be sad to see it go, but I'm excited to see what the future holds for the town centre. Update: Now permanently closed.
Amanda W — Google review
Gone up a star since TJ Hughes moved in a few weeks back. Use the Boots and what passes as the towns main post office these days. A number of other outlet stores and several mobile phone provider stores - the 3 one has excellent staff from our experience. It houses one of the very few free and publicly available toilets in the town centre.
Eddie D — Google review
This is a great place to visit weather your just window shopping or you've popped in for something specific. There are a wide variety of different shops for you to choose from. There are plenty of staff on hand if you get a little lost and they are friendly and approachable. Well worth a visit
Maria W — Google review
It's okay clean and all shops are easy to get too. Church Square market is a good place to shop. There was an incident of some sort at the car park exit and the road was closed had to use bus lane to exit.
Robin D — Google review
Still open, though the local council are doing their best to close all stores. Nothing to recommend visiting for, though the cafe is the only open cafe in St Helens centre on a Sunday. It's also dry in here when it's raining, so there are two good reasons to walk through. Council knocking it down shortly.
Steve H — Google review
The centre is bright & clean which are the positives. The downside is that there are no decent shops anymore. This town used to be thriving with a good atmosphere. It's a shame the council are deliberately running it down. My guess is that they want it for housing. Rough sleepers don't help matters & the best shops have gone. Who on earth would invest in this run down toilet town. It's awful.

Located on Corporation Street, St Helens Theatre Royal is a historic entertainment venue that has been hosting a variety of shows and events since 1887. The theater is known for its diverse program, featuring popular touring musicals, drama, comedy acts, and pantomimes. Despite its modern exterior, the building dates back to the early 1900s and has undergone significant remodeling over the years.
Great local theatre, seen lots of brilliant shows there mainly with my grandchildren. The staff are friendly and very helpful and, the shows are always top notch. The most recent one was the American Wrestling 🤼‍♂️, which to be honest I only went because my youngest grandson wanted to see it. But what a couple of hours of good entertainment. The wrestlers kept the audience involved throughout the show. At the end of the show, they all came out onto the stage and, the audience could go up and meet them and get autographs. My grandson is still buzzing about it days later. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Staff are generally quite good. The theatre is clean and well maintained. Show was good although one of those where three kids from a hundred are “chosen” and rest feel a bit left out. No photo ops this time but generally good.

Just been to our 9th Panto of 2025 at the theatre royal ! They always put on an Incredible show , the casting, staging , costume , sound and lighting all brilliant , there’s loads of participation and the humour is not just for kids ! My son is autistic and I worried he’d not manage it but he’s enjoyed every single show he’s watched and stayed in his seat the entire time ! The front of house staff are absolutely amazing too and very kindly let my little girl win the golden ticket yesterday which has made her entire year! (Shout out to Angela and Julie! ) We’ll definitely be back for more shows and of course more Panto ! Get yourself there , you’ll have a Ball!

Went to see Police legend Stewart Copeland last night. What a lovely theatre St. Helens is. Had a little drink in the bar before the show, I never even knew that was there. Brilliant little area. Staff were all pleasant and knowledgeable. Overall, a great night at a great theatre. Thank you very much 👍

My partner and I watched night collar, which was a bit rubbish in our opinion. We sat in stalls row c seats 10,11. The carpet was rotten and our feet were stuck to it all night. The bright side lights hurt my sensitive eyes and the loud announcement for refreshments every 5 minutes prior to the show was too loud, too frequent and kept making me jump.

Arenas & Stadiums
The Totally Wicked Stadium is a contemporary sports arena that can accommodate up to 18,000 people. It serves as the home ground for the St Helens professional rugby league team, which was established in 1873. The stadium boasts excellent viewing options from the Eastern Terrace and Stand 23, while seating areas are available at around £25 per person. On chilly evenings, visitors can enjoy a decent atmosphere while sipping on beverages such as smooth bitter priced at £3.80 per pint.
We DJ’d a welcome home party here in one of the function rooms. The whole ground including the rooms for hire are spectacular. There are so many perks to hiring a room here. Brand new through out. Very stylish and in line with the rugby ground. Lots of staff covering the bar / catering and even provide security services.
Kevin P — Google review
Leigh v Warrington CC semi final. 110525 ; Third or forth visit, and I like this stadium. Saints have transferred from Knowsley Road successfully, and I think they have done a good job too. Obviously, visiting as an away fan, I think they have prioritised the atmosphere and a simple but efficient service for visiting fans. Just a couple of over enthusiastic stewards, barking wholly, needless, and highly unnecessary directives. All other staff friendly and helpful. Great terracing feels roomy yet still safe when that particular end full. Plenty space around the bars, no queues for toilet and a swift exit. Just a few more road signs perhaps for those who don't know the way to the stadium. Lastly. I really think St Helens have done there homework here, the atmosphere within the stadium is bang on, they have obviously thought about the architecture and the throw of the crowd noise within all areas, because the singing and roars are very well projected by the stadium, creating an excellent atmosphere. Signposts and stewards are the only slight letdown. Excellent overall.
Dan C — Google review
I love this stadium, I come all the time because I have a Liverpool women’s season ticket. I love supporting the girls. The stadium has good security and staff that can help you if you have any questions or concerns. The food is also banging, I love the hot chocolate and sweets 🤭. I really like it here, it also has good signage incase you don’t know where to go. It’s also a decent sized stadium. I love it.
Ella R — Google review
Amazing stadium, very modern. Went to watch Liverpool women's play there for the first time and super grateful for the saints lending it to us. Only reason I'm knocking a star off is because of the security staff. I had a bag that was slightly like 1cm over the limit to take in with us containing only a fleece blanket, my 8 year old is going through a phase of anxiety after a traumatic event in a crowded space and takes it to busy places with her. One security guy told me it might be slightly over and when I suggested putting it inside the carrier bag that I was given from the LFC store, he asked to check inside. Seeing it was only a blanket, he said that's fine, at my own risk basically of being asked again. Tagged my handle and off we went. The next security people who stopped us, a female trunchable type started going off on one about how he shouldn't have tagged it because he will get the sack.. mate its not what you say.. it's how you say it, and she literally was being really dramatic making a scene. When at other stadiums, my daughter has always taken her blanket in a transparent back pack that she has, so now every game we are going to have to carry It in or leave her at home. Ball ache!
Beccie D — Google review
Great stadium. Made uo its Liverpool FC Women's home ground, always a great atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. COYR

From the ground comes light. Fabulous Show. It was the first time my young daughter and great niece and nephew attended the stadium. She's watched many of the games on TV that Saints play. Great opportunity to attend. They absolutely loved it. Kiosks where fairly good at getting the ques down. Was a brilliant night. Although rained we was sat row A we didn't get wet. Would like to see more events for children and for our town. ❤️🤍❤️🤍❤️

Excellent stadium, clean, well sign posted and staff are lovely. Good amount of women toilets which is good compared to other venues I have been in that seem to have endless men's toilets. Only down side is drinks and food are expensive and they don't do programs anymore

Taylor Park is a beautiful natural area that boasts a lakefront trail, an athletic field, and two playgrounds for children. Additionally, visitors can enjoy picnic tables and refreshments at the park's cafe. The park is also perfect for dog owners as there are plenty of areas to explore while allowing them to run and play freely. It is well-maintained with numerous bins available throughout the park to dispose of any waste.
Beautiful serene and perfect little park with Lake. Ideal for a short stroll also really good if you have young children with a few different play areas. I personally love the Lake

The park is beautiful and it has various entrances. There are also parking areas located in different parts of the park. There are various wildlife in the area, including a turtle in the lake. The blue lake is absolutely gorgeous and lovely to walk around. It’s not every day you see an actual blue lake! The children’s parks (2 of them) are well equipped for the children to enjoy, plus there’s an outdoor gym for all ages. There’s also a big field behind the lake for a sit down field picnic, or gymnastics session if you fancy it like we did (no bones broken). There are also lots of baby ducklings and cygnets if you visit in the right months (April/May). AND, LOTS of squirrels. Which we’ve fed nuts to in the past - super cute! Overall, highly recommend for the family on a sunny day & winter walks! (Ice cream van there year round. I believe there is a café which I’ve heard good things of, but I’ve never been in).

McDonald's is a timeless fast-food institution celebrated for its iconic burgers and crispy fries. One particular location offers a cozy atmosphere, featuring seating on an upper level. While it may be compact, the friendly staff enhances the dining experience with attentive table service. Although napkins aren't readily available, asking for them is met with warm assistance. Overall, this McDonald's provides a delightful spot to enjoy your favorite fast-food classics in comfort!
Very small McDonald's, seating upstairs too, didn't see a place for napkins etc , had to ask a member of staff for some, staff were very friendly, had table service, hence the hunt for napkins, besides that it was a very pleasant place to eat,
Keith B — Google review
To the staff who work at this place. Do me favour would you? When you get a just eat order, please don't just bag it up and leave it to go cold til the driver turns up 20 minutes later. Yeah? You've got hot racks for collection and drive thru customers. Bag up the order when the driver shows up. You guys know how much of pain it is to get refunds from Just Eat. It's shocking. 3.45 money back from a 20 quid order. Terrible. I know Just Eat's questionable refund processes aren't your fault. But my food being freezing cold, frankly is your fault. Sort it out.

Every single time I order from here they get something wrong. It doesn’t matter what you order; they will get it wrong. It’s fine if you check and let them know but remember to do so before leaving. :)

Me and my family got crispy chicken meals. And when we got home the food was barely warm, the chicken was that hard I could of broke a tooth, the bun what burnt and hard. And the drinks well the lids have gone crap as they wasn't on proper and went all over my partner. McDonald's has gone horrible lastly and like the staff can't be bothered making it a nice place for families to eat. I wornt be returning as I'm spending money and not eating..

Today, we went to McDonald's for a shake. We checked the app, and it showed that shakes were available. The in-store kiosk also confirmed this. So, we placed our order. However, when we went to pick it up, we were told that shakes were unavailable and that we had to choose something else. When we tried to cancel the order and get a refund, one of the employees was extremely rude. They insinuated that we were being rude or raising our voices, even though that was not the case. Instead of handling the situation professionally, they tried to force a replacement item on us. After some struggle, we finally got our refund. For our second order, we did not want a replacement and requested a cancellation. After waiting around 40 minutes, an employee finally brought us £3 in cash, even though we had paid by card. It seemed like she did this just to get rid of us. Another shocking situation happened in the restaurant: a large group of young people from the street casually walked into the kitchen. I don’t know if this is a common practice at this location, but I believe there should be proper hygiene rules in place. This situation should be reviewed on the security cameras. The incident took place on March 25, 2025, between 10:35 PM and 11:05 PM.

Probably the scruffiest Maccies I've visited. Every single bin was overflowing and trash not picked up. Imagine what it's like inside if this is how they keep the outside!

Arrived at the drive through just after midnight last night. It was empty - just one car in front of me parked at the order speaker, so I thought, 'great, we'll be straight through'....however, it took 13 minutes for them to take and process my order! We were just sat there waiting (and that was using the app!). It should have taken seconds. I asked why it took so long and they said they were waiting on chicken nuggets but have realised they had none! Hopeless service..and it's not a one off, it's a pattern. The workers don't look bothered or in any way concerned to get the order out quickly. No apology..just said 'I know..'

Called in today for some food at lunchtime before going to the Theatre Royal and we are so glad we did. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and they made a table available for us as they were busy. The atmosphere was nice and chilled and it is like stepping back in time which we really like. My wife had the High Tea and I had the Ham, Eggs and Chips and we can honestly say the food was simply delicious. Mine was cooked fresh and there was plenty on the plate and my wife loved her High Tea and we both passed on our compliments to the staff. Their pricing is very reasonable and there is a great choice of food and specials available. Honestly we had great food here and would recommend anyone to pay them a visit and try Lilys. And for the record, we cannot wait to come back and eat here again - better than a lot of the chains out there!😁🫶🏼

Arrived at lily's this morning for something to eat walking in takes me back in time into my nans house its like home from home. I took my time deciding what to have as I have been before and know that the food was good. There is a great selection on the menu. I finally decided on a lily's breakfast it arrived promptly. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The sausage and bacon were great quality too. I find for the quality of the meal, the service and the portion sizes the prices are very fair. I would highly recommend going out of your way to visit lily's tea rooms. Staff are friendly, restaurant and facilities are clean and food it delicious what more can you ask for ? Thank you for a great breakfast.

So me and my wife went to Lily's for breakfast as we seen a post by the owner in our local paper due to regeneration affecting her trade so we went down and ordered two full English breakfasts and we wasn't disappointed... breakfast was very reasonably priced and was superb 👌... would highly recommend .staff was very attentive and really enjoyed the whole experience especially the retro decor along with all the wonderful objects on show ... we will be back that I can guarantee.. if you haven't been give it a try

I enjoyed the vibe of the place and the esthetics, only 1 toilet and it's up a flight of stairs not good for those who can't climb stairs, was also a small bathroom so would be difficult to share it with your child. The prices were a bit much, a chocolate sponge pudding with custard was £6.95 it was a smaller pudding that those you get from Iceland that you cook in the microwave. The chicken and bacon panini was ok could only taste cheese it came with a small salad. Cappuccino did taste nice. You have to spend £10 minimum to pay on your card. The servers were really nice and friendly, I would go again if someone invited me but it wouldn't be my first choice due to it being not a lot for your money.

First time in this lovely little cafe. Its clean the food is plentiful, the atmosphere is relaxed and I personally can't eat food when there is loud music. The music here is reminiscent of years gone by. It makes my blood boil when the St Helens and not forgetting Arriva have not thought about how all this refurbishment is affecting this small family businesses. Its a disgrace. I will certainly be back and an important point Its licenced! I would hope that one does visit, you won't be disappointed.

Visited today after a suggestion from a friend the nicest thing I am going to say is the staff were welcoming and pleasant other than that for me meals are over priced for what you get. Chips might be home made but they are very soggy and greasy . We wouldnt visit again as it's definitely not worth the money. This is of course my opinion on what we encountered today.

Absolute god send, amazing friendly staff, excellent food, love the tea pots, etc, the music is great. I'm so glad my friend brought this to my attention as been in love with the place since.

Fast food restaurant
Burger King is a popular fast-food chain renowned for its delicious grilled burgers, crispy fries, and creamy shakes. If you find yourself in St Helens, it’s a convenient spot to grab a quick meal during your lunch break. However, if you're not in the area, you might encounter similar dining options elsewhere like Widnes or Liverpool. The drive-through service is efficient; just be sure to order through the app for fantastic deals!
I visited this store during my lunch break mid week and took full advantage of the £5.99 whopper meal (available through the app & ordering at a kiosk). Using the points I had accumulated I was also able to redeem 150 points for 6 chilli cheese bites. The food was fresh and served promptly, the guys (Josh & James) behind the counter very informative and friendly. The restaurant was clean and inviting, only giving 4 stars due to lack of air-conditioning.
Brad C — Google review
The gent who serves me on the drive through is so polite, friendly and patient as I always get something wrong and have to change it! His name was Samuel. Atmosphere 3 stars as I cant really comment as not eating in. Some great deals when you have the app. Food fresh and hot 🔥.
Caroline M — Google review
Been in 3 times now since they have refurbished the restaurant. Each time the wait for the food has been absolutely insane. Two of the times I have been inside and ordered on the self service section and then you wait for your number to get called. To which your just stood there for nearly an hour to then be given barley warm food. The 3rd time we visited was an app order and drivethru collection. Even this took ages. Told them the code over the speaker and from the order point to the collection window was 25 mins. Then at the collection window was another 10 minutes to wait. It's never been this bad and I did give them benefit of the doubt because I like burger king alot but it's getting abit out of hand now.
Chris C — Google review
Waited 10 min in drive thru. Food was tepid at best, burger was dry & chips were rubbery. The food is apparently made to order & on top of this they charged for sauce. Got to McDonald’s the sauce is free & the food is hot
Wigantim — Google review
Ordered on the app took a while to get served through the drive through speaker but the guy was very apologetic. Waited 5-10 mins for food but was fresh so no complaints. Food was hot and fresh and was delicious... Top tip order on the app so much cheaper when you see the offers tap.

Not good for delivery drivers. Staff are unbelievably slow to fulfill orders. Store has just been refurbished. Should have spent that money on staff. Poor service at this Burger King Every single time I have the misfortune to visit.

Slowest service ever, atmosphere is one as it was she drive through and left sat there. Genuinely would have gone else where if I knew. Chips taste and look reheated.

Wow, I love Burger King but these were shocking. Empty tables but rubbish left everywhere, so staff clearing the floor, front counter. Took 40mins to get our online order. Stood at counter to ask for my cup to do get a drink while I wait further and no one would talk. Burgers sitting on counter getting cold waiting to be packed by the 4 staff working there wth is going here! Such a shame Our number came on the screen to green pickup, then vanished completely, then I had to go ask where my meal was, which then took another 10mins to go pack up. The guy didn’t even tell me what I was doing just made me stand there. Food finally came cos they waited for fresh chips, my burger was like cardboard

Thai Jaa Restaurant, situated in the vibrant Saint Helens, UK, offers an authentic Thai dining experience. Patrons have praised the delicious Pad Thai and Mango sticky rice, whether enjoyed as takeout or in the cozy restaurant. The friendly staff received accolades for their exceptional service. Diners also appreciated the accommodating nature of the management, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
authentic Thai food which tastes delicious. the host provides excellent service. the dongyum added coconut milk which makes its texture even better. the mango rice is warm while the mango is cold makes a good combination. the prawns are amazing. will certainly come again. the waitress is sweet.

There’s a dish I absolutely love – Yellow Curry. When I arrived at Thai Jaa and saw it on the menu, I was so happy. The dish was fantastic! My wife and her family ordered other dishes, and everyone really enjoyed their meals. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Updated!! In response to the owners reply. I am not and have never been a liar! I have no reason at all to post untrue reviews for any business. The pictures I took did not have a flash on. It was 9pm at night so obviously I had a light on but no flash! It seems they have a very negative response to every single person who has given them a poor review. Accusing people of being defamatory towards their business. Honestly, they would look better as a business if they admitted the food they delivered to me was abysmal and apologised. I don't want anything from them I was simply making people aware that this is what we received and to avoid it. I did also say that the Thai Red curry and rice was nice but unfortunately that was the only part of the order that we ate. As for it not being tolerated, what's she guna do? Sue me for saying her food is terrible and posting factual information? This is the whole reason I didn't call them, as I didn't want an argument but I will be ringing when I am free. I left this review on just eat but only the star rating was made public. I never ever leave reviews anywhere but the food we received was absolutely disgusting! No exaggeration. The photos speak for themselves. Was also told today by an ex member of staff that they make everything in batches, and then microwave it. I really don't know how people leave 5 star reviews for this place.
Nicola C — Google review
I'm kicking myself that I have never tried this place for over 30 years. I'm not sure if it's the same chef, but now that I appreciate good food, the dishes I had here ticked the box! We were the only ones in which reduced the atmosphere. This place deserves to be full - fantastic food.

Visited this fabulous Thai restaurant for the very first time this weekend. The food was tremendous, reasonably priced and all staff were so welcoming. We will definitely return.

The best Thai restaurant in the area, and nothing compares locally that I know of. I’ve eaten in many Thai places around the world, and this one is consistently excellent. Whether it’s starters or mains, everything is always full of flavour, and after many visits I’ve never been able to fault a thing.

The Dream Sculpture, a 20-meter-high pre-cast concrete head, stands as a symbol of hope and ambition at the former site of Sutton Manor Colliery in St Helens. This iconic public art piece offers panoramic views and serves as an inspiring backdrop for memorable photos. Set against the picturesque countryside, it provides a visually stunning and deeply meaningful experience.
We enjoyed our visit. The Dream statue and information monuments were interesting. The woodlands around the statue are full of a life with a wide variety of plants. There are plenty of lanes to wander along and enjoy a walk. It is good to see how what was once a slag heap from coal mining is now a place to relax, remember and enjoy.
Doreen H — Google review
clean, dog-friendly place. Perfect for a Sunday walk with a great sculpture. Car parking nearby.
Ana A — Google review
Interesting sculpture. We parked in the free car park where the Dream tourist road signs led us to. It was a short walk to the sculpture on well maintained paths. The paths through the woodland (which were the coal pits) are wide, stony, and easily accessible for many people. There's plenty of different paths to take too. It's well signposted to the sculpture with plenty of benches and some information boards.
Donna W — Google review
We visited at night. Contrary to some of the images I found online, the sculpture is not lit during the evenings. The path surrounding the statue is pitch black as well so I’d thoroughly recommend going when the sun is out.

Hidden Monumental Calm with a Modern Edge Dream in St Helens is one of those places that leaves an impression the moment you see it—but only if you know where to look. It’s tucked away just off the M62, practically hidden in plain sight. You wouldn’t expect something so serene to exist only yards from the steady hum of motorway traffic, but somehow, it does—and that contrast gives it a quiet power. The sculpture itself is striking. Towering at 20 metres tall, the elongated face of a young girl with closed eyes stands frozen in thought, like it’s meditating above the chaos. Made from brilliant white concrete and quartz, it reflects sunlight in a way that gives it a ghostly glow on bright days. It’s both eerie and peaceful, modern yet timeless. From a distance it almost looks like a digital rendering dropped into the landscape, but up close, it’s tactile and grounded. There’s a short, mostly flat walk through woodland to reach it from the nearby car park, maybe 10–15 minutes at most depending on your pace. The path is well maintained, and although signage could be better in places, you get there easily enough with a bit of common sense. It’s a nice little stroll in itself, especially on a calm day. The space opens up as you approach, revealing the sculpture slowly rather than all at once. It’s a lovely bit of design—intentional or not. Flying my drone there added a whole extra layer. From above, you get a completely different sense of scale. The way the sculpture rises out of the old Sutton Manor colliery site is genuinely powerful. It commands the land it’s on, without shouting. Peaceful, thoughtful, and oddly moving when seen from the air. For anyone into photography or drone work, this is a brilliant subject—just be mindful of the area and check you're clear to fly. The sculpture was built to honour the mining heritage of the area and the people who worked there. That history isn’t heavy-handed—there’s no museum here, no overdone storytelling—but you can feel it. The land has a memory to it, and Dream sits right in the middle like a quiet witness. There are benches along the way, bits of art embedded in the trails, and even information plaques if you stop to read them. It’s not busy unless you go on a sunny weekend, and even then, there’s enough open space to sit, reflect, take some photos, and enjoy the quiet. You’re never totally isolated—the sound of the M62 is always there—but it becomes background noise after a while, more like a distant river than a disruption. Parking is free and reasonably close, though it’s not signed clearly from the main roads. The local council could do a better job of guiding visitors in, especially with sat navs sometimes taking odd routes. Once you’re parked, though, it’s a smooth and easy visit. --- Final Thoughts This isn’t an all-day attraction, and it doesn’t pretend to be. You come here for a walk, a bit of quiet, and to take in something thoughtful. Dream is one of the best examples of public art in the region. It feels well-placed, well-meaning, and surprisingly emotional once you take a moment to slow down with it. Would I go back? Absolutely—especially at sunrise or sunset. It’s an ideal stop if you're passing through the area or want a quick mental reset. Just don’t expect bells and whistles—this is minimalism done right.

Lovely walk up the hill, then all of a sudden it's there!
Janette N — Google review
Really nice and scenic park. It is a good park to take the dogs for a walk or run. There are quite a few small animals that can be spotted on the trail like ducks, rabbits and various birds. The sculpture is quite impressive up close and there is a lot of interesting information regarding the sculpture on a sign. Around the trails are unique little sculptures with beautiful quotes, each small sculpture has a different quote, making each unique. This is a good path to take children on and isn’t too steep or long for little children. I would recommend going on this little walk to experience some interesting local history.
Joanne J — Google review
Standing 20 metres tall on the site of the former Sutton Manor Colliery in St Helens, Jaume Plensa’s Dream is a striking and contemplative public artwork that captures both the memory of the past and the promise of the future. Commissioned as part of Channel 4’s Big Art Project and shaped in close collaboration with former miners, the sculpture symbolises a town’s desire not to dwell solely on what was lost, but to look forward with optimism and grace. The sculpture itself – a serene, elongated head of a young girl with closed eyes – evokes a meditative stillness. Cast in white concrete mixed with Spanish dolomite, its luminous surface stands in deliberate contrast to the coal that once lay beneath the ground. In this way, Plensa transforms the landscape’s industrial legacy into a quiet beacon of renewal. St Helens’ old motto, Ex Terra Lucem (“From the ground, light”), finds tangible expression in this hauntingly beautiful form. Technically, Dream is an impressive feat of engineering. Comprising 90 individual panels and weighing over 370 tonnes, it is anchored deep into the reclaimed spoil heap on which it rests. Its placement—just off the M62—ensures visibility to tens of thousands of motorists each day, further enhancing its role as a public landmark. More than a monument, Dream has become a cultural icon for the region. It attracts upwards of 85,000 visitors annually and has been featured in media such as the Netflix drama Stay Close. Awards and accolades—including the 2009 Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture and a Civic Trust Award—affirm its impact not only as a work of art but as a deeply resonant community project. That said, the visitor experience is not without some limitations. Access via forest trails is scenic but can be challenging for those with reduced mobility. Additionally, concerns have been raised about limited amenities and overgrown vegetation that can partially obscure the sculpture. Plans for night-time illumination remain unrealised, which some feel would enhance its visibility and atmosphere. Nonetheless, Dream endures as a powerful symbol of transformation. Its success lies in its emotional clarity: the calm face, the closed eyes, the upward gaze—all suggesting inner reflection, hope, and the courage to dream. In a place once defined by hard labour underground, Plensa offers a vision that rises above.

The reason why I visited this place. Was due to the fact that my friend had been watching a TV series, where this Sculpture was shown in the program and seeing as we have never been here before. We had to go for a look, plus it was another chance for us to get the drones out for a fly. The area is looked after and the walkways were kept clear and maintained. A few areas where up hill, which will not be very difficult for people who may suffer from walking conditions. Once at the highest point where the Dream Sculpture is. This will be the main attraction. There is seating area on benches or you can have a seat on the steps in front of the Sculpture. Then you can get some good quality photo opportunities. You can either walk the same way back to the parking area, which is mainly on the main road. Where you will have to park on the kerb side or wherever you can or you can take a walk along one of the routes through some low level trials until you end back up at the main entrance.

Great place for family walks and dog walks, but watch out for the dog poo. As some dog walkers don't bother picking their dogs poo. Other just leave the poo bags anywhere, but I couldn't see any bins to put them in.

This is a lovely place for a walk with your dog or family. Great place for picnics too, but marked down on the total lack of rubbish bins, thus leaving people the excuse to leave dog bags and food wrappers around. Not everyone is happy to take their rubbish home. Please get some bins around.

Nature & Parks
Sherdley Park, located in Sutton, is the largest public park in the borough, covering 336 acres. Once the estate of 19th-century industrialist Michael Hughes, it offers a variety of attractions including woodlands, a formal garden, a lake, and an 18-hole golf course. Visitors can enjoy different walking and jogging routes through its beautiful surroundings or relax with a picnic on its well-kept grassland and wildflower meadows.
Visited yesterday (1st March 2025) with my wife and our 3-year-old. It was a beautiful sunny Saturday, and the park was full of life. The two kids’ play areas were bustling with families, and as expected, the classic ice cream truck was parked nearby; an essential treat on a bright day! What truly stood out was the vast green open spaces. Even with so many visitors, the endless grassy fields felt spacious and serene. The view was simply breathtaking, with rolling greenery stretching as far as the eye could see. We spent over two hours soaking up the sunshine, watching our little one enjoy the play area, and just taking in the peaceful, open landscape. Sherdley Park has such a rich history and a wonderful natural setting from its historic roots to the thriving wildlife and woodlands. Whether you’re here for a family day out, a relaxing walk, or just some quiet time in nature, it’s a place you’ll want to visit again and again.

Great kids playround catering for all ages and part of it is closed off to stop toddlers making a break for freedom without you noticing. There are other climbing and swinging contraptions on the hillside, but all amenities are close to the car park so it's very convenient. It's all free as well!

Such a shame that markets have been lost to online shopping and retail parks. It was like a ghost town with only a few market stalls open, but the feel of the place was depressing and destitute. I'm sure it was completely different many years ago but these days it must be a shadow of its former self, it seems pointless even opening. St Helens Council needs to invest!

Nice park, as parka go. Nothing special or different to any other municipal park. It's just what it is. It was a nice place to walk the dog. But that's about it. The House could do with a little care and attention. Like a lot of these places around the x country. A start would be getting the trees and weeds growing out of the brickwork removed.

I like Victoria Park - shame there doesn’t appear to be any toilets here which lets it down. Been here a few times with the kids - it’s flat enough for wheel chairs and scooter too which is a bonus. The park needs some attention as some of the items had damage on and some missing. But all in all a lovely park

Nice little park. Ducks to feed, small childrens play area as we as bike ramp area small football/basketball area and tennis courts (these need to be booked in advance) clean and well maintained. park run here every weekend as well as other events and mansion house situated in the grounds.

Diners rave about the incredible flavors, with dishes like chicken tikka masala and prawn puri leaving a lasting impression. The ambiance is equally delightful, featuring high ceilings and an elegant atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. Guests appreciate the attentive staff who go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, making each visit memorable.
Went here with my boss and his friends Never had Indian food before The food was incredible ,the taste ,the flavour unreal Had chicken tikka masala starter and chicken madras for the main and poppadoms with various dips while we waited , the mango chutney was my favourite Really really good food, and would recommend to anyone Chicken was literally melt in the mouth. The madras was hot ,not too hot but perfect balance of flavour and spices and like I said never had Indian food before The service also was excellent, every member of staff made sure they looked after you and a good rapport with you. Atmosphere was also excellent ,the place was absolutely full from arrival until we left ,and had to wait a very minimal time before we were seated given it was a weekend and extremely busy Very very well run restaurant. I never knew this place was there ,but now I know would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone who hasn't been to give it a try ,you won't be disappointed To all staff on the restaurant floor ,very well done and thank you And to the chefs the food was incredible Not my first choice of food before but now I've been it will be . Thank you ba'bursi From.. Table for four booked for 7.30 for Joe Seated at the top of the stairs ,first table on the right.

We really enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, especially the prawn puri and the sea bass. This must be the best place to eat in St Helen's, and in my top three of all Indian restaurants across the UK. Loved the high ceilings, spaciousness and elegance of the place. The staff were really great too, attentive, friendly and good at communicating. A great evening!

We have eaten here many times and it has been fine, but last night i took my mother for a meal and i was really, really disapointed with our meal, we got the 6oz steak that was as thin as paper no way weighed 6oz, came with skinny type macdonalds fries and a little bit of leaves, now for £16 thats a joke, we then ordered a pudding the smallest slice of brownie ive seen that cost £8, come on if your charging them prices then give people a decent slice or make the meal worth the cost your charging.
Paula B — Google review
Not our best experience as a group of work friends 7 in total, food was ok nothing majorly special, over priced at what it’s worth, £15 for a piece of chicken and chips thinner than McDonald’s chips, wouldn’t really accommodate other options when part of our group (vegetarians) wanted a specific meal was told no as that stopped at a certain time. Waitress seemed like she couldn’t be bothered when we asked about the billing situation as there was quite a few of us, we joked we where just working it out per person and she just looked right through us. Our first experience at the park kitchen and we sadly won’t be returning to quickly.

Lovely atmosphere - great menu especially gluten free options (highly recommend the fish and chips). The venue is dog friendly which can be a bit of a problem as I have dog allergies but staff always been happy to move us to a table away from any dogs in the past (and it's not as much of a problem sat outside) 🙌 Visited during Covid and all felt very safe, glad they have proper plates and cutlery back after a period of cardboardy plates and cutlery 👌 recently had lovely gluten free al fresco breakfast in the sun (with added patio heater) ☀️

With an impressive array of offerings ranging from traditional fish and chips to delectable Chinese dishes, this eatery promises something for everyone. Diners rave about the generous portion sizes and flavorful meals, making it well worth any wait you might encounter during busy hours.
The food here is amazing. I don’t have fish & chips as they don’t sell cod but there mixed meat kabab is really tasty as is their amazing hot curry sauce and onion & mushroom gravy. Chicken breast and chips with that gravy is 10/10. Very friendly staff too.

Not a good dining experience, chips were more like boiled potato strips, beef curry was chewy, soup included random blobs of some kind of clear stuff?

Fish and chips takeaway
Nestled in the heart of Saint Helens, UK, Sea Breeze Fish Bar is a beloved destination for seafood lovers and takeaway enthusiasts alike. Renowned for its exceptional quality, this eatery serves up an array of mouthwatering dishes that are always fresh and bursting with flavor. Diners rave about their perfectly cooked chips—crispy yet never greasy—and the delightful curry that strikes just the right balance between sweet and spicy.
Best chippy in St Helens without a shadow of a doubt and I've tried lots. Everything we've had from here has been absolutely spot on. Very well prepared food that always tastes super fresh and full of flavour. The chips are amazing, never greasy, never hard, never burnt, the curry is perfect (not too sweet and not too spicy) and the meals are amazing. Meals contain real meat and not the usual brown chicken masquerading as beef that most places use 😂. Staff are really friendly and helpful. No card payments but you can pay with PayPal (which most of us have now.) or cash. Loads of parking at the side but even if you don't phone ahead, you won't be parked long because prep time is super efficient without sacrificing quality by using pre prepared rubbish. You can tell that from how good and fresh tasting the food is. We wouldn't go anywhere else now. Very highly recommended.

Been going here for last 4 years and never had a problem. But just ordered a fish with boiled rice and a sausage. Fish looked off then usual but still ate it. Few hours later thrown up all over my kitchen sink. AVOID AT ALL COST UNLESS YOU WANT TO RISK YOUR LIFE!

I never write reviews. I had my first visit in months (trying to be healthy). I made an order for me and my family and everything was received and the food was to a high standard. Chip shop chips can often be pale and poor quality, these were amazing. the chines meals were excellent. I even received a complimentary salt and pepper chicken wings (it was a surprise when i arrived home with my order). Great place with fantastic food!

Came back here after my wife said she had visited and that it was lovely. I can honestly agree. The mixed starter was great and the salt and pepper chicken chunks were plentiful. The main was chicken black and bean, which was pocketed with nice chicken. I would recommend.

Pub
Bar & grill
I recently visited the Turks Head pub for the first time, and it was bustling with activity. Despite the crowd, I managed to find a table and enjoyed a delicious meal. The sweet chilli chicken and rice were delightful, while my husband opted for fish and chips with mushy peas. The food was well-presented and reasonably priced. I plan on returning to this pub in the future as it exceeded my expectations.
Cracking real ale pub on outskirts of town. Vast selection of beer and has a lively atmosphere. Couldn’t take many pics as it was rammed!! They do tons of ale if you tried them all in one sitting you’d be on your rear. Good service as it needs to be they work hard behind the bar!! Highly recommend for an ale session if in the town! Dog friendly and serves food.🏉 🍻 🐕 🥘

Great pub with fantastic food and a huge choice of drinks. The pub has a lot of character and is well worth a visit. It also has a really nice, shared beer garden to the side. My only criticism is that the pub operates a card only policy where I usually prefer to pay with cash and would at least like the choice. I will definitely be going back to sample some more of the food, which was very nice and a really good selection.

Outside of the Turks Head you have a cute little dog friendly garden with many benches which is perfect for sunny days and also you can order there food such as pizza, fries and burgers. We ordered margarita pizza which was very soft cheesy, delicious. Fries was so fresh with garlic sauce. Amazing smashed Burger, very juicy. Staff here are very friendly and welcoming. In the past few people recommended that place and I'm fully agree with them, definitely I will be back!

The North West Museum of Road Transport is a fantastic place to visit if you are a fan of vintage vehicles. The museum boasts an extensive collection of old buses, lorries, Morris Minors and Minis. With an impressive array including Leyland Atlanteans, Bristol VRs and Dennis Dominators, this place is truly a haven for vintage vehicle enthusiasts. Visitors can also take part in a vintage bus ride around St Helens which is sure to be enjoyable for all ages.
Fantastic day out, lovely staff and good price. £6 per adult and kids free so £24 for four adults one child. Lots of buses and large vehicles to explore, small gift shop and refreshment truck with drinks and crisps etc. Includes a drive on vintage bus which we loved doing and the miniature trains room was amazing, lovely gentleman who talked to us about it all. 10 out of 10.. Going to come again. Open Sundays only and parking across the road is free on a Sunday. My favorite Ford Capri too!!

Absolutely incredible, it really is a true hidden gem of a museum. Very well laid out and presented collection covering practically every mode of transport from cars, bicycles, vans, trams, motorbikes, trolleybuses and even trains. Something for everyone really! Volunteers were a credit to the Town, never mind the Museum, and the shop and canteen van serving food were nice touches. The vintage Bus ride out was very different and there's free parking nearby and toilets on site as well. We are already talking about coming back here.

Small but absolutely great place to spend lovely time on sunday in St Helens! For everyone! Many buses, and vintage cars. Also vintage bus ride around town which was £6 is included in the price for everyone. 100% recommended

We visited the museum today 23/02/25 and it was amazing £6 per adult and children free, plenty of refreshments as you walk in. Gift shop needs abit of attention could do with more stock/merchandise. The vehicles are great and a credit to their owners. There are plenty of trains to watch go around and the staff are full of knowledge. We went on a bus ride that operates every hour and last for around 20/30 mins that in its self was worth the £12 we paid to enter. We spent around 2 hours in the the museum with plenty of old vehicles to look at well worth the visit

Siding Lane Nature Reserve is a hidden gem that offers a lovely experience for visitors. The reserve features beautiful forest areas, a large pond for duck watching and fishing, well-maintained paths that lead to the surrounding countryside, and picnic spots. It is an ideal place to explore nature and extend your adventures. Children can enjoy the different terrains and engage in imaginative play. Although photography may be limited due to other activities, it is definitely worth revisiting.
Nice wooded area surrounding a pond. This is a great area for some easy walking. Might want to bring your old shoes, some areas are muddy. Decent carpark with room for a dozen or so cars. There isn't any playground things for kids but there a big area of grass. Quite a few benches and picnic tables, they were all in good condition. Was super clean, no litter around at all.
STEVE — Google review
Beautiful little walk, all on the flat so very easy going on the site of an old coal mine. There's a small car park at the start of the walk and a couple of benches spaced around if you need to take a break. Only down sides are during the winter it can get very muddy and the summer you can get eaten alive with bugs due to there being a fishing pond close by (permits only)
Dave M — Google review
This is a beautiful place. I am a keen angler and spend a few hours sat by the lake watching all the wildlife and enjoying the peace and quiet. There are walks around the woods that take you here, there and anywhere and it's OK for dogs too.
Michael T — Google review
Quiet place for walking the dogs, plenty of seating around to take breaks on. I can struggle with rugged terrain and steps so be aware, especially if it's been raining. There are roads that you can use on the outskirts if you prefer flatter walks.
Keiley B — Google review
In search of new places to walk I discovered this little gem, sidings lane nature reserve. At the end of a residential street there is a car park with disabled access toilet. There is a wheelchair/pram friendly path or there are paths through the trees that are steep in places. There is a big open field with picnic benches dotted around. Surrounded by trees you can still see and hear the trains rushing past now and then. The paths wander in different directions, some to the fields at the back, and other paths lead to the fishing lake. The lake is lovely and clean, full of lily pads and flowers, with dragonflies scooting about. There are little jetty areas for fishing too with a permit. The place is beautiful, full of a variety of trees, plants and mushrooms. Perfect for a dog walk, picnic or somewhere to let the kids run around with a ball.
Ben B — Google review
Lovely area for walking for the able bodied. Free car park. Paths throughout but can get muddy after lots of rain. Reminants of the old railway for the colliery. A few hills/steps, ideal for dog walking. Picnic area & plenty of benches available. Bring your own tea & cake 😁
Claire M — Google review
Nice little walk around nature reserve. Lots of wildlife but no ducks on the lake as it was completely frozen over. Extremely windy today therefore it was really quite. Free parking, lots of woods to explore and to retreat from the ferocious wind. Worth visiting if local.

Nice and tranquil and not very busy. Nice fishing pond with benches which is good in hot weather as your shaded. Open grass area with picnic benches. Not very big but something different. Car park not that big but doesn't need to be as it's that quiet.

It's getting better The kids playground is now being refurbished and other parts of the park are waiting It's a nice place for a walk, play, picnic or even a steady ride with bicycle, normal or electric scooter Good place to teach kids how to ride a bicycle :))
Wojtek K — Google review
Lovely park, has a beautiful lake and is overall a nice place to walk around. The playground was recently fixed up, providing safer and fun equipment for all. The only issue is if you go after school hours, you may get trouble by the neighbourhood teens, they steal from and harass people. I've had it multiple times when all I do is go for a walk or go on the equipment for a while. Other than that, it's a wonderful park. Be safe when going alone.

Very pleasant expanse of green in the town of Tunstall. It's been in use since 1904 and has seen some changes. The boat hire service on the lake has long gone for example but the park still offers a useful leisure facility for families and pleasure walkers.

Interesting walk around the park. Read about some history about William Adams, Potter. Shame someone doesnt invest in our local parks as I know the Council's budget can't.

A park quite fortunate enough to have a little bit of money spent on it. It's really nice and I go most days with my dog, the guys are always out maintaining the place and there isn't much litter (there shouldn't be any). I just hope they do something good with the boat house now that is has been refurbished. Great for families

Lovely park especially when the trees are all full and colourful. Always clean enough, we had our wedding photos here and they turned out lovely. Children's playarea is always clean enough too, with a pirate ship, trampolines roundabout, slide, swings and a few other things. Older area separated from the smaller children's things.

wide variety of things to do like fishing in the ample pool which also have regular visits fron Geese and Swans who at certain times do breed successfully. There is two parks one for teens with a large web style climbing structure made from heavy duty rope, several different swings and other smaller apparatus. The second park is for toddlers and is well built and fun with slides trampolines swings and 3 way see saws.its all on rubber floors for toddler safety.there is an old bandstand boat house a zip line and several large fields lead you towards the pavilion and tennis courts.next to these are basketball courts and even a skate/scooter park with high and low ramps for all levels of skill.after the courts are the beautifully kept gardens and historic ruins.there is also bowling greens.there is a few parking places by the pavilion but the roads surrounding have ample free no restriction parking.all in all a great place that can cater for all ages.

Chinese takeaway
Chinese restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a fantastic Chinese takeaway, look no further than Fiveways Chip Inn! After a disappointing experience elsewhere, many have found their culinary haven here. Diners rave about the generous portions and reasonable prices, especially highlighting dishes like chicken in black bean sauce and salt and pepper chicken. The food arrives quickly, piping hot, with tender meat that’s far from chewy. Customers also love the mushroom chow mein and curry sauce that are simply divine!
I decided on the mushroom chow mein, chicken curry, and some chips, and I have to say, they showed up in no time, piping hot and just perfect. The food was incredibly tasty! The delivery driver was super friendly, and the staff on the phone were fantastic as well. I'm definitely looking forward to placing my order with them again!

First time ordering from here, ordered the food at 6:30 and got told it would be half an hour. Gave my postcode and address and 7:20 the driver rings me saying it’s taken him by a shop. I tell him he is around the back and tell him specific instructions to my door, I then wait outside for 10 minutes which it should have took him 10 seconds to find me from where he was. He rings me a few more times saying he’s by now by a cafe in the town centre which is 10 minutes from me and can I meet him there? Then I ring the chippy and complain as now it’s almost a hour he’s been driving around with the food, I hear in the background him calling up on loudspeaker refusing to owner to deliver the food and saying he’s not coming anymore even when he’s been texted and told where to go he just point blank refused. I told the staff that I’m 7 months pregnant and my partner is up for work at 5am and weve been waiting hours for our food and the phone gets put down as clearly they were not interested . I ring back up 5 minutes later assuming they are going to deliver and they said no they aren’t… I had to get my partner out of bed to pick up the order from the shop. Staff in shop didn’t seem interested at all and was saying the driver was not at fault. I got home for 8:20 and the food was FREEZING cold absolutely inedible the chips were freezing and prawn toast was rock hard as it was that cold, the soup was luke warm. I just can’t believe that the driver wouldn’t do his job and point blank refused to deliver and then I ended up with freezing cold food 2 hours after working and no sympathy whatsoever. SUCH A SHAME WONT ORDER AGAIN. The delivery driver is going to make the company loose customers if he can’t even be capable to do his OWN JOB. If I refused to my boss to do my job I’d lose it .

After trying another chinese takeaway in the area and being bitterly disappointed, we tried this one and were seriously impressed! Food was prepared quickly, ordered chicken in black bean sauce and a portion of salt and pepper chicken. The portions were huge and very reasonable in price. The chicken was tender and wasn't at all chewy. The salt and pepper chicken wasn't just coated in salt like some places do. The black bean sauce was mega tasty. 5* food hygiene rating too. Deffo gets our 5 stars! We will 100% be returning 👌

Ordered from here for the first time last night. And my goodness the steak dinner was absolutely beautiful. I will definitely be ordering again and recommending. Delivery man was very pleasant too xx
Amanda D — Google review
Stephen is an extremely honourable man, great service, nothing is too much! The food is just perfect and the price point is excellent compared to other Chinese’s in the area. I personally recommend the salt and pepper chicken/chips. The curry sauce is devine and the fried rice is next level! Look no further, this is the Chinese to go to in St Helens 😀

Possibly the best restaurant in St Helens. The food is absolutely delicious, and exactly like tapas in Spain. The restaurant itself is lovely, and the staff were excellent. I would highly recommend the Octopus in red wine - unreal! Will definitely return!

First visit to this gem! Last night, before going to St Helens Theatre Royal, Georgia, was extremely informative, as my partner is Gluten intolerant, & advised what he could have, tapas delicious, plenty to choose from, 😀 my partner even had Gluten free beer on draught! He was well chuffed, definitely worth a second visit, please support this family run business! Well done to you all!

Wow! Doesn't do it justice..superb food, great staff, amazing atmosphere, had my birthday night out in here (26/07/2025) forget your idea of "tapas", the portion sizes are huge, quality and flavours are mind blowing. Brilliant.

It was lovely tasty food, but it was all just a little cold, but flavour was perfect!

I frequented this restaurant many years ago when living in St. Helens with my now wife. Revisited for our anniversary recently and the 2hr drive was worth it, it's still THE BEST tapas restaurant by a mile. Food is off the scale delicious.

Indian restaurant
Balti Spice is a lively South Asian restaurant with a full bar and event space. Visitors rave about the classic dishes, especially the lamb chops, which are described as perfect. Despite its small size, the restaurant's cozy atmosphere adds to its charm. Customers praise the quick delivery service and generous portions of hot, fresh food. The attentive staff and delicious menu options make it a must-visit spot for those looking to explore new flavors in Saint Helens.
Our first time here after my Brother recommended it. We were made very welcome from entering the restaurant. The food here is amongst the best Indian's we've been to. It's also very good value for money and will return with friends and family soon. The owner is very friendly and a nice man.
Jason W — Google review
I had not had a curry from the Balti Spice for years as last time it was average. So i thought we would give it a go since a few people had said it was really good. However it was no different. Poppadoms were stale and the curry that I ordered wasn't what I asked for. Never complain, just dont go back. No where better than the Palace.
Djandrew G — Google review
It's been nearly 3 years since I have eaten here and after thoroughly enjoying my first meal all that time ago, I wondered why my return visit had been left so long. So I booked a table. I have just left with an exceptionally full belly and a smile on my face. Lamb chops, perfection. All the other dishes I sampled tonight also excellent. Although the restaurant is quite small, it adds to the character and the atmosphere. This restaurant is a MUST VISIT! I promise I will be back much sooner this time round. Great friendly service with fantastic food. Bravo!

Stayed in the Premier inn rang for take out delivery it came piping hot 10 mins ahead of time and hand on heart was one of the best Indian meals I've had. Good job Balti spice.

Takeout Restaurant
The Village End Rainford has recently undergone a change in ownership, and my first visit was nothing short of delightful. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, complemented by the friendly staff who made us feel right at home. I was particularly impressed with their pizza; the dough was fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. For just £50 for five people, we enjoyed a fantastic variety from the menu that exceeded our expectations!
Has recently been took over , 1st time visited, lovely atmosphere, really friendly welcoming staff and mega impressed, Pizza was amazing, the dough was fluffy, tasty and cooked perfect, spent £50 as for 5 people , so we had a good variety off the menu and everything bang on ! we collected and would highly recommend !

Do not order from this unless you want to go on a diet. I used 'Just eat ' and yet again....after 2 hrs of placing an order for the second time in 4 weeks I was told I had "pissed the owner off" for daring to complain and I would have to wait another 45 mins. I have received several orders cold, houra late or not at all. An absolute unprofessional rabble. I have rises formal complaint with Just eat about the way they swore at my wife over the phone and am appalled this is the way they operate.

Great quality chicken kebab marinated well, cooked on a proper grill and the cheeseburger and chips were spot on, big portions all round tasty garlic bread with cheese 💪

Got to be the best takeaway in the north west better than the crap in skem food fresh Donner meat is the best around along with everything else and the deliver to old skem forget the rest it's the best around try it you wont be disappointed and it's cheaper than any takeaway in skem
Lee V — Google review
Bang average. Got a donner kebab & a cheese garlic bread, nothing special. Large kebab isn’t a large, it’s a small. Also charge £1 extra to have it on a naan instead of a pitta which tells you everything. How can a large kebab fit on a pitta? Nice people though & had it ready for when they said they would.

Possibly the worst fast food place on the planet. Ordered a basic pizza and have been waiting for 95 minutes and still no food. Hey ho. It is Friday 2150hrs. Maybe it’ll arrive in time for breakfast… or not.
Paul H — Google review
Nothing fast about this fast food takeaway ! Ordered waited an hour and half to then have to ring for them to tell me sorry only just preparing your order . Absolutely shocking and would not recommend ordering as your food probably won’t turn up excuses after excuse on the phone . If I could give 0 I would as is an absolute waist of time .

A great fast food place at the far end of rainford. Will do customised pizzas. Not expensive.
