Outdoor Activities
Makris Gialos Beach is a picturesque sandy stretch with calm aqua waters and stunning views. It's an ideal spot for families, offering comfy lounge chairs for rent. The name translates to 'long sandy beach,' perfectly capturing its serene atmosphere. Visitors can bask in the warm Mediterranean sun or find shade under umbrellas while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, and the sand is soft and clean. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it ideal for a peaceful day at the beach, yet still lively enough to enjoy a fun day in the sun.
Nevena M — Google review
Nice sandy beach, cristal clear water and sun-beds options - cafe area with paid sun-beds or public beach area where you can use your own umbrellas. This is one of the most crowded beach but you can always find a spot. Water sports are also possible option here.
Alex R — Google review
Hands down our favourite spot of the whole holiday — honestly one of the nicest beaches I’ve ever been to! The sand is soft and lovely (though fair warning, it does get scorching hot in peak sunshine!), and the water is absolutely crystal clear. I’m usually a bit hesitant about swimming in the sea, but I felt so confident here because the water was so clear and calm — you could see everything around you. It made for such a relaxing swim. The beach itself was clean, spacious, and never felt overcrowded. There were several shaded areas available too, which is great if you don’t have your own umbrella. One of the best parts is the convenience — there are three beachside bars/restaurants right there, plus a water sports provider if you’re feeling adventurous. The clear waters also made for perfect snorkelling — we saw loads of little fish without having to go far at all.
Olivia I — Google review
A small but nice beach with crystal clear waters and fine sand hidden in a bay with a beach bar with parking nearby. It is a well-sheltered beach where you can walk peacefully when strong winds blow on the island, it is only slightly affected by waves due to the bay and the huge rocks in the water on the side of the beach
Liviu H — Google review
Beautiful beach! Long stretch of sand, plenty of spaces to lie down in peace. Sand had good fine coarseness to it and was clean. Nice couple of restaurants for a bite/Cafe if you want to save money from the sunbeds.
Jimi D — Google review
Crystal clear water, shallow and ideal for families and young children, sandy beach. Sand can get very hot, so take flip flops/shoes. Plenty of car parking at the top and the steps down are not too steep, but can be a bit sandy/slippy. Loads of sun beds and parasols to choose from at ok prices and there is a large section where you can lay towels and take umbrellas. Several public toilets and a couple of beach bars which are great for snacks and drinks - prices are quite high though. Overall a great beach and facilities.
Ben — Google review
Clean beach with little to no wasps. There’s plenty of parking and it’s easy to walk around. The water is crystal clear and not crowded at all. The service at the beach bar is a bit lacking though the staff can sometimes come across as grumpy, and the prices for food and drinks are quite high. €20 for a chicken sandwich with fries and around €8 for a beer. Soft drinks were about €3.50. Renting the sunbeds is also rather expensive. In October we paid €30 for two beds and an umbrella. So if you come often, that can add up. There’s also a very cute orange cat wandering around. He likes to lie in the shade near you, but be careful, he tends to scratch if you try to pet him!
Ferdi — Google review
This is a truly superb beach. The water is crystal clear and it is isnt a huge walk from the main road. Plenty of car parking for scooters and cars. We were only staying about a 10 minute walk from the beach and it was perfect for anyone staying at san lorenzo village or within that area. We never bothered with getting any sun loungers. Plenty of room for you to bring your umbrellas to enjoy the day. Supermarkey sells them for €20 which is a short walk. Zorbas restaurant also do takeaways to bring down. Honestly a fantastic beach.

Beach
Platis Gialos Beach is a picturesque coastal spot located 3 km from Argostoli, adjacent to Makrys Gialos beach. The area is embraced by verdant hills and abundant vegetation. This beach boasts pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters, earning it the prestigious Blue Flag for cleanliness and excellent facilities. It's not overly crowded, making it perfect for snorkeling enthusiasts.
Very clean sandy beach, easy to access with parking available near the beach or can be accessed by foot. Deck chairs 15€ for two. The beach also has a kiosk for water snacks coffee etc.
Ania D — Google review
The most beautiful beach ⛱️ with outstanding views. Free parking, changing rooms and WCs. Sunbathing and swimming in the crystal clear sea made easy with plenty of space, small shop with a shaded area. Beautiful way to relax and very popular with locals who are so friendly. Sunbeds and umbrella 15 Euro and cash and card both taken.
W C — Google review
Excellent beach, great for spending time with the kids. The beach is sandy and the entrance is very gentle, the beach has all the necessary services and you don't have to pay for a beach umbrella or chairs if you bring your own or just want to lie in the sun. There is limited parking on site and another parking space across the road on a sandy lot. Highly recommended.
Ofir V — Google review
Expensive umbrella charge! Wanted 100 euros for a front row umbrella! 70 for further back. Seems like trying to gouge cruise ship visitors. Nice beach but slippery stairs down to beach and entry into the water rocky for first 5 meters. Very nice sand after that. Water sports a bit noisy as they go back and forth with inflatables.
Paul D — Google review
The water is calm and crystal clear but keep in mind that the sunbeds are in limited number so it is pretty difficult to find available ones if you don't get there early. The cost is 15 euros for 2 sunbeds
Alexandra P — Google review
Lovely beach right next to White rocks hotel. The sea is crystal clear to start and then a lovely tourqoise. Be careful entering sea as first metre is fine single that sucks you in, then few metres of smooth rock before hitting sand. Price for front row umbrella and two loungers was €20 (SEP 25).
James 4 — Google review
Very beautiful and clean beach! Lots of fish to look at and mostly sandy:) it has a shower, a cafe, changing rooms and a bathroom next to the parking. Also you can rent kounge chairs and umbrellas. Highly recommend.
Daniela S — Google review
A nice sandy beach in Lassi. Lots of changing rooms, rather clean toilets (on the parking lot but be warned: no toilet paper at all). Plenty of natural shade because of the rocks. Paid sunbeds - 15 Euro a pair. The water is amazing and a friend of mine saw a massive sea turtle! The only bad thing are the many cigarette buds in the sand, like hundreds.

Outdoor Activities
Paliostafida Beach, situated in Argostoli on the picturesque island of Kefalonia in Greece, is a renowned spot for tourists seeking pristine sandy shores and clear azure waters. The beach offers various water sports activities and is perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Visitors can also explore the charming streets, historic landmarks, and vibrant nightlife of nearby Argostoli. The beach features a small bar with friendly staff offering tasty food and drinks at reasonable prices.
For me top 3 beach on the island. We were on the right beach and this is for me best beach for children. You can go more then 5 meters in water and the deth wold be like 40-50cm. Water very nice, sand too, it has showers and toilets next to restaurant. Biggest plus for me is the shade you get. If you go there around 9 you can choose any place of shade you think is the best. Beach is clean and great!
Yumirio S — Google review
Absolutely beautiful beach, with soft, clean, golden sand and the clearest of water. Tucked away as it looks as if they are building a seafront hotel. We were there from lunch time onwards and there was very little construction noise. The lapping of the waves in the shallow water, was the only thing we could hear from our sun loungers! Absolutely blissful. Two loungers and a grass umbrella for 20€. Great price for May. Big bonus is a snack bar serving drinks, alcohol and snacks. Extremely friendly and helpful service and I had the most delicious Greek salad baguette. A hidden gem of a beach and the best I've been to in a long time!
Caroline P — Google review
Very nice beach. Sandy but large pebbles going in to the sea so can be painful walking in to the water. There is a new construction on the south end of the beach which is a bit of an eyesore. Longers and parasols a little expensive in my opinion but you may be able to sneak onto the ones owned by the hotel and there are many of them. Sea is clean and good for snorkelling with a few rocky areas. There is a snack cafe and shower and toilet. Access is very easy with ramps and steps. A few cigarette ends and bits of rubbish on sand but not much. Plenty of space in August. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
Richard B — Google review
Nice beach. Sunbeds to rent which take up most of the nice sand to lie on. Good drinks stand, friendly workers. Not the most scenic walk there with all the construction.
Jimi D — Google review
There are some parking spaces behind the construction site. The first part of the beach is small and the waves reach all the sunbeds. There is a bigger beach, if you walk a little bit and jump some rocks. There is only sand and the water is very nice.
C G — Google review
Quiet little Sandy beach, perfect to get away from the crowds. A toilet, shower and changing room. And the best little bar serving the most amazing gyros. The owner of the bar totally looked after us, and even helped us book a taxi back to the ship. €20 for two beds and a parasol, get there early as they fill up. Wonderfully chilled tunes in the back ground. Yes there is a hotel being built directly behind, but it didn’t ruin our visit. Would go again totally. Thank you.
Lorraine B — Google review
Small beach with a small canteen and few sunbeds. They are building huge hotel units right above this small beautiful beach so honestly idk how it will look like in a few years! The water is clear, it has sand and it is shallow so perfect if you have young kids

Gradakia Beach is a favorite gem on the island of Kefalonia, located close to Lassi. It offers soft sand and crystal-clear waters, making it an absolute marvel for visitors. Accessible by car with free parking available, getting here is stress-free. The beach provides various sunbed setups at different prices and a rocky area perfect for snorkeling and observing marine life.
Nice sized beach with a bar and plenty of loungers. We brought our own umbrella and a throw and settled at the far end. The waters are beautiful. We also visited at sunset for a picnic and evening swim, they were playing some nice Balearic tunes, very relaxing
Mel B — Google review
Nice beach , we see more beautiful in the island. Pay attention set of sun beds are 12€
Elihay N — Google review
Gradakia Beach is a decent option in the Lassi area. It's a smaller beach with soft, gray sand and clear water. The beach is organized with sunbeds and a beach bar, which is convenient. The sunbeds and refreshments are priced fairly for the area. The beach offers a relaxed atmosphere, making it suitable for a quiet day. It's easy to get to by car, and there are views of the surrounding area. Overall, it's a fine place to spend some time if you're looking for a low-key beach experience.
Ioannis — Google review
It is nice, but very small...it is sandy beach and often, water isn't clear, it gets crowdy...across the beach, there is clear shallow lagoone where you can get trough the stones and enjoy the little caves, snorkeling without crowd
Aleksandra M — Google review
Such a lovely little beach. There is plenty of of parking nearby, the water is clear and shallow. Perfect for kids.
Diana C — Google review
Lovely small beach. Good for swimming and snorkelling (especially in the the next two bays with caves by Kamaroules taverna).
Will D — Google review
Rocks, cliffs, no beach, no sand. Not a beach. Down a steep hill to get to, then you realise there's no beach and have to walk back up. There is a road you can drive down there on. No toilet, no cafe, nothing good there. Unless you like to sit on rock. Not good if you're looking for a beach.

Platia Kampanas, or Bell Square, is a charming pedestrian area located in the heart of Argostoli. This delightful square features a historic Clock Tower that was beautifully reconstructed after the 1953 earthquake. Surrounded by quaint cafes and shops, it invites visitors to relax and soak in the vibrant atmosphere. The square is particularly enchanting in the evening when it comes alive with bustling street bars and lively crowds.
Platia Kampanas has become a place that people can come with their families. Children can play safely in view of their parents. It has a very good ice cream shop all homemade. Sovlaki shop is also very good. Plus they have a new pizzeria.
Sarah H — Google review
Pretty square to hang out for a drink or a gelato. It’s not very touristy during non peak seasons and hence a delight to be around here. Cars aren’t allowed into the tiny stretch which is a relief.
Emily R — Google review
We had a late night pizza in the Platia. It was delicious. Each pizza is so huge. We were glad we shared one between us. It was freshly made in their proper pizza oven. The base was light and crispy and the toppings very generous. It was a great atmosphere late at night in the square. Kids playing, families eating together and couples (like us) chatting romantically. It wasn’t the cheapest of pizzas but it was delicious.

Lovely square in Argostoli in the older part of the town away from the newer bigger square. Good selection of cafes and bars around the square. The bell tower is in the centre back of the square.

We took a taxi from lassi to the llighthouse, and the ride cost €10 – totally worth it! The lighthouse itself and the whole area around it are absolutely beautiful. We had seen in a video that it was once badly covered in graffiti, but luckily it has since been repainted, and now it looks just as beautiful as it used to. There’s also a tiny beach nearby – if someone wants to, they can even go for a swim, although it’s quite a windy area. Relatively close by, there’s also a windmill. It’s a nice spot to relax and take lots of great pictures.
Péterová B — Google review
Not too busy, but I think we were about 30 minutes early, I've seen photos of this place from golden hour and it looks great. There's a bit of a graffiti problem so if you want "nice" photos you may need to do some editing.
Mark S — Google review
Nice place to visit, you will have to park in the road as no car park. Spent 15 minutes looking around it is about all you need, just a shame about the graffiti but I suppose you get that anywhere, but worth a visit if you are in the area.
Ken's T — Google review
Just a few kilometers from the city, there is a tourist attraction known as Fanari, that is, the Saint Theodore Lighthouse. 😍 The original lighthouse was built in 1829 during the British rule. It is a circular building in the Doric style with 20 columns and a tower 8 meters high. During the 1953 earthquake, it was badly damaged, but it was rebuilt in 1960. P.S. You can have a long walk to the lighthouse from Argostoli, for me it was simpler and nicer to go by car.🌴🇬🇷💫

Not an awful lot there but worth a visit. Popular wedding photo venue, and busy when we visited. Understandable as it's very scenic and beautiful at sunset.
Jay P — Google review
This light house is around 30 minutes’ walk from city centre. It’s worth doing since the lighthouse has very good view by seaside, especially during sunset of the day.

Known for its authentic Greek cuisine, this eatery offers a delightful buffet where you can select from an array of traditional dishes like moussaka and seafood risotto. The relaxed atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for lunch, allowing guests to savor well-prepared meals at budget-friendly prices.
Authentic, local food with a homemade feel. Portions are generous and price is fair. Meat pie, giant beans, moussaka, pastitsio, goat stew… all delicious!

Simple, honest Greek food for the everyday man. My goodness that rizzoni with veal was amazing. Packed with flavour with every bite. So was the braised calamari. Do yourself a favor - come early before things run out. Note to self: Take away from Tzivras would go down real well for a road trip and lunch at a secluded beach.

We were recommended by a local to try this restaurant as we wanted traditional Greek food. The Moussaka was the best we've had. Great value for money and great tasting traditional Greek food.

Phaedra Restaurant, established in 1997, is situated in the picturesque area of Lassi, Argostoli. This charming restaurant boasts a terrace that offers a delightful dining experience. Located near the popular beaches of Makrys and Platys Gialos, it attracts both tourists and locals alike. The menu features delectable dishes such as Dolmades, fresh grilled Sea Bass, rabbit kokinisto, and Blueberry cheesecake.
Simply the best restaurant we’ve been to in Kefalonia. The food is excellent—fresh and flavorful. The staff is professional, friendly, and provides top-notch service. Add to that homemade desserts and ice creams, and you’ve got a must-visit spot.

Spacious area. Great food and great service. Elaborate menu and for us all the dishes were tasty. Here I enjoyed the stuffed vine leaves the most out of all the restaurants. They offer some tasty local wines as well.
Amy V — Google review
One of the best places in Kefalonia. The food was excellent. Their grilled veggies were really tasty and so soft. The service was excellent and the recommended dishes were a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend the place. I went there with my boyfriend and we were so happy that we went for dinner also the day after.
Ariadni D — Google review
I can confidently say this is probably the best restaurant in Kefalonia. Everything we tried from the menu was absolutely delicious! Possibly the best garlic prawns I’ve ever had, and definitely the best baklava we tried on the island. The staff were very professional, polite and spoke excellent English, which made the experience even better. Honestly, the only downside was that we didn’t have enough days to come back and try more dishes from the menu. We’ll definitely be returning next time we’re in Kefalonia!

Phaedra is a lovely restaurant located in Lassi, Kefalonia, with a welcoming atmosphere and super friendly staff who make you feel at home from the start. The location is all outdoor, with plenty of seating and a cozy setup where you can even catch a beautiful sunset while dining. The food is truly delicious — fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The seabass is perfectly cooked and tender, while the prawns linguini is rich and full of taste — both highly recommended dishes. The fish is fresh and you can tell they really care about quality. Prices are in line with the area’s standards, and as a nice touch, they even offer you something at the end of your meal, which makes the experience even more pleasant. Overall, Phaedra is a great choice if you’re in Lassi and want to enjoy a relaxed dinner with good food, warm service, and a lovely sunset view.

Really good food, definitely a cut above the others on this strip. We had the saganaki cheese with tomato marmalade and kumquat confit, lovely. Then mains were the seafood souvlaki and the lamb shank in dark beer, olive oil and garlic sauce, both excellent. House rosë was quite drinkable too.

The restaurant TAVERNA TA DIDYMAKIA exceeded expectations with its delightful cuisine and generous portions. The prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly, creating a pleasant atmosphere. There was also minimal waiting time for the food, making it an unexpected gem. While not overly fancy, the authentic beach bar/restaurant provided a nice ambiance. It is highly recommended to those visiting Lasi/Argostoli. The establishment offers delicious food at moderate prices, ensuring a satisfying dining experience.
Welcoming taverna overlooking Fanari Beach and located close to St Theodore Lighthouse, Argostoli Camping and Galaxy Hotel. Stopped by at lunchtime for a drink and snack, it was so peaceful and the view was stunning. As at 17 October, the restaurant closes at 5pm.

A lovely place with delicious food and incredibly friendly service. While the restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, it’s perfectly located if you're taking a walk along the coast — right in the middle, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing break. And the view? Absolutely stunning. The atmosphere was peaceful, the staff welcoming, and everything we ordered was full of flavor. A hidden gem worth visiting!

Delicious food and great hosts. The restaurant is outside Argostoli, meaning you need a car or 20 min of walking, but the experience is worth it because the view of the sea is great and the food far better than most places on the main street of Argostoli. The marinated octopus was particularly enjoyable.

It was better than I had expected. The food was very very tasty and the portions were quite generous. The price was also ok, more than reasonable and the personnel was kind and friendly. We also didn’t have to wait for a long time for the food. An unexpected gem! It’s not that fancy but the atmosphere was very nice! I would gladly recommend it to anyone who come to Lasi/Argostoli.

Right by the sea beautiful views and lovely people.. the only downside is because it’s right by a camp site it’s a little touristy but it’s still really worth a visit we had the Greek salad and they didn’t skimp on the feta. Near to some incredible coves as well. Definitely visit.

Tzogia's Taverna is a charming restaurant located in Lassi, Kefalonia. It is situated at the costa costa end of the main strip and offers traditional homemade Greek food with a wide selection. The staff are known for their friendly service, despite having to navigate stairs to serve customers. This quaint eatery provides an opportunity to enjoy mind-blowing food in the small town of Lassi, making it a must-visit for those looking for an authentic Greek dining experience.
I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. The place itself is fantastic you can choose a table on several “levels,” which creates a really unique atmosphere. The waiters were kind. There were three of us dining, and unfortunately, my dish wasn’t good. The waitress warned me that the plate was hot and it really was but the pasta inside was almost ice-cold, especially not at the top. The taste wasn’t good either; it felt like it wasn’t fresh. However, my friends were satisfied with their meals, so I guess I was just unlucky with mine. After paying, something strange happened: a few minutes later, the waitress came back and gave me 5 euros, saying they had miscalculated the bill which was definitely a nice gesture. I also liked that there was a small fenced-in play area for children. I had a fantastic peach flavored juice served in the cutest little pitcher. All in all, I have mixed feelings, but the dessert made up for everything in the end. We didn’t even know we would be getting one, but it was heavenly some kind of lemon cheesecake, I think. I can’t say exactly what it was, but it was so delicious that I completely forgot how much I didn’t enjoy my pasta.

Absolutely lovely place for a drink and some food. I really like how there are different seating areas for just drinks, food and they are separated into smoking and non smoking areas which is a nice touch. The ladies here work so hard and really take hospitality and service to the next level. Even when me and my family just came for drinks, we were given free slices of delicious frozen cheesecake which convinced us to come back for dinner later that day. It was delicious and we were once again given complimentary cheesecake, we honestly go back just for that it's that good. The food is fresh, there's plenty of variety and it's great value for money. My favourite thing was the squid appetiser, the best calamari I've ever had, so fresh and not chewy at all. My brother had these amazing stuffed vine leaves too which I'd recommend to anyone wanting to try something new. The atmosphere is brilliant, they play wonderful greek music and there are play areas to keep children entertained.

This was so good! Very friendly, you get some flatbreads and Tzatziki, on the house. Followed by a large portion of Moussaka, straight from the oven. Then some cheesecake sorta thing, on the house. I can fault it at all, so tasty, so good. Really it was. Highly recommended!

Absolutely fantastic experience at this local taverna! The food quality and flavors were outstanding, with generous portions at very reasonable prices. We also received a complimentary local appetizer with our meal, which was delicious, and as a dessert, an incredible cheesecake for free — its taste will stay with you long after. The host was extremely kind and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant atmosphere was also very pleasant and cozy. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Greek cuisine and a warm, memorable dining experience!

My favourite place in Lassi! Me and my family kept coming back here on our holiday because the service was so brilliant. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food is just wonderful, you can tell it's made fresh to order and prepared with love. Everything here is very affordable, with cocktails around 6-7 euros all day! (Most places are 8 euros during happy hour) The tavern is beautiful as is it's surroundings and it is only a 5 minute walk from the beach, very convenient. The staff also give you complimentary cheesecake which is delicious and you get it if you get just drinks or food! Definitely try this place if you're in the area! ❤️

Already 3 times here and everytime was even better than previous one. The staff is very kind and works a lot for customer satisfaction. The food is amazing. They also gave us appetiziers and deserts (one of the best cheesecake that I ever ate). Also shots at the end. We will definitely come back when in Kefalonia again.

This place is great, very tasty food prepared with love and the creamy cheesecake is 😋 the ladies work very hard and look after every customer with a smile. Portions are huge so can easily be shared by two people. Cannot find better place to eat on the island, so even when we stay in the north, we still make at least one trip to the south to incorporate one meal at this gorgeous place 🥰

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Avithos Beach, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Cosi Food & Drinks. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Avithos Beach is a picturesque spot located in the south-western part of Kefalonia, near Svoronata. This shallow, sandy stretch is backed by cliffs and offers amenities such as a beach bar, tavernas, and umbrella rentals. The area around Avithos Resort is known for its traditional houses with fragrant gardens, olive and orange groves, making it a peaceful place just a short distance from some of the best beaches on the island.
A little slice of paradise. This beach is pure serenity — calm, clear waters, soft sand, and a quiet atmosphere that makes you feel like the world has paused. It’s the perfect place to unwind, take a slow swim, or simply sit and soak in the beauty around you. Truly a hidden gem for anyone seeking peace and quiet.
Lauren H — Google review
Nice beach with clear, shallow water. The seabed has both sand and some rocks. Facilities include showers and a toilet. The cost is €15 for two sunbeds and an umbrella. However, the sunbeds are placed quite close together. Not ideal for snorkeling.

Avithos Beach in Kefalonia is, without a doubt, a five-star slice of paradise! From the moment you step onto its golden, soft sand, you'll be captivated by the sheer beauty and tranquillity. The crystal-clear, turquoise waters are simply inviting, perfect for a refreshing swim. What truly sets Avithos apart is its gentle, shallow slope, making it ideal for families with children to splash and play safely. Even if you're not travelling with little ones, the calm waters are incredibly relaxing. The beach itself is wonderfully organized, yet manages to retain a natural, unspoiled charm. You'll find plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas for ultimate comfort, along with convenient showers. There are also two fantastic tavernas right on the beach, serving up delicious fresh seafood and traditional Greek dishes, perfect for a leisurely lunch with a breathtaking sea view. One of the most enchanting aspects of Avithos is the stunning natural backdrop of lush green hills and the mesmerizing view of the islet of Dias with its charming church. Keep an eye out for the protected turtle nests on the quieter eastern side – a truly special experience if you're lucky enough to witness the hatchlings!
Ioannis — Google review
I can't say I'm impressed. To get there you travel via a gravel road which is quite bad and when we reach to the destination we only saw huge rocks and the whole beach had a 35+ degree decline to the sea, it was rocky all over the place. It's nice to watch but swim and enjoy the sea? Well not so much. Seeing reviews from other people like a month ago and it seems like a different beach but mountains, trees and all are the same. The only good thing as I said was the scenery and that's about it. Edit: I ask a local friend and told me during September having big rocks is kind of normal, still even without rocks for swimming there are far better choices that the island has to offer.
EvroNetwork — Google review
Small little sand and stone beach. Once you go into the sea the sand slowly shifts to bigger rocks and a little deeper in it goes back to sand Quite a few beds with parasols, at the entrance to the beach it says 15 euros for 2 beds and the parasol Sea was surprisingly warm and very gentle. Seems to be preferred by young families Prices for food and drinks at the bar are reasonable
Melissa — Google review
Avithos is a lovely sandy beach with soft golden sand and clear turquoise water — ideal for a relaxing day by the sea. The entrance to the water is gentle and gradual, making it perfect for swimming and especially great for families or those who prefer calmer seas. When we visited, the sea was beautifully calm and inviting. The beach is well organized, with comfortable sunbeds, a beach bar for refreshing drinks (I had an amazing pina colada 🍹), and a nearby taverna where you can enjoy a delicious Greek meal. There are even showers available on the beach, which is a nice touch after a full day in the sun and sand. It’s the perfect combination of natural beauty and convenience, making it a great option whether you’re spending a few hours or an entire day.
Diana B — Google review
The beach is beautiful, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Be sure to bring water shoes. The beach is sandy, but the sea is pebbly. It's safe for young children; even if they venture out a bit, the water will still be shallow. The water is murky (110-120 cm), so you don't need a snorkel. I recommend not wearing jewelry because of the murky water. The front row of sunbeds costs 35 euros, and the back row costs 20 euros. There's a space to protect the loggerhead sea turtle eggs.
İKLİM K — Google review
We visited on Sunday 18th June and sat on the main beach which was fairly crowded but we managed to find a quiet section on the main beach to the left as you face the sea. It’s lovely here with shallow and warm water. There’s also a life guard on duty on the main beach and refreshments if you need it. Video is of the main beach. On both the far left of the beach and on the far right behind 2 equally huge rocks are a section for naturists. On the left you have to walk into the sea but only to knee height to access the beach however this makes it very private and I only saw one naturist couple on this beach. On the right you have to walk across some low rocks onto a second lovely sandy beach to go past the very large rock to the naturist area and because you don’t need to get your feet wet to access this beach I saw quite a few naturist couples on this beach. Towards the end of the day naturists were using both middle and far right beach. Still photos are of the naturist area to the left of the beach. The sea is lovely turquoise colour. Lovely looking taverna just set back from the beach. I would definitely go back to this beach but I would use the beach to the right as you face the sea because it was more accessible and flatter.

Spasmata Beach is a smaller, quieter beach with easy access and a unique feature of being located right next to the airport, offering the fun experience of watching planes take off. The beach has clear and warm shallow waters, making it perfect for those who prefer not to venture too far into deep water. It offers different experiences with parts of it being rocky or pebbly while others have smooth sand. There's also a well-stocked beach bar that serves standard fare including drinks and ice cream.
Very nice quiet spacious beach doing it simple things really really well. Ample parking. The water was crystal clear and calm. Do not be put off by the aircraft near taking off, it added excitement ! Highly recommend.

A sandy beach with crystal clear shallow waters which makes it very family friendly and with easy parking. Fairly priced loungers (12€/set) and a beach bar. The only downside is that, sometimes, it gets really windy.

The access road and parking area are a little run down and feel a little precarious but the beach itself seemed nice. Didn’t fancy a dip as it was a little chilly on our visit.

Sandy beach, swallow warm waters, organized and free space for own umbrella. Canteen offers excellent coffee and light snacks. Very friendly service. First row prices 10€ for pair of sunbed and umbrella, 2n and 3rd row 8€ for all day use. Easy access via road and free parking. Ideal for children and families

We went here at the very beginning of the summer season. The beach was still being cleared of urchins but that had no negative effect as the view, the water, the sunbeds, the drinks and the staff that work on the shack made this a great place to spend a few hours. The sand is dark, which I wasn't expecting as the beaches either side are gold. The water here is clear and warm, it is shallow for quite a way out, perfect for my husband who doesn't do well in deep water. The view is beautiful all day long but especially at sunset. We visited other beaches whilst staying locally but always ended up back at this one.
Lisa D — Google review
My absolute most favourite beach for its simplicity, natural surroundings and lovely friendly beach bar. The ladies who run the bar are so friendly and easy going and the sun beds are very reasonably priced although there are a few seats around the bar if you just want to sit for a while. My favourite tipple is an iced latte which is delicious. The sea is easy to access for swimming and the surroundings are beautiful.
Zoe S — Google review
Was windy today, which meant the sea was a little rough, didn't deter us, in fact, made it even more fun jumping the waves. Great little beach bar serving drinks and snacks with friendly staff. Only 8 euro for 2 sun beds.
Dave W — Google review
A beach with different faces; parts of it rocky and pebble-y and others with smooth sand. Walk towards the cliffs with the sea caves, and the location is absolutely idyllic; no pebbles there whatsoever. Most people can't be bothered however to walk an extra 2 - 3 minutes to get to it and therefore prefer to sit at the deckchairs with umbrella. There's a well-stocked beach bar that makes all standard fare and has drinks, ice cream, alcohol, etc. A shower head and hose pipe is available for washing yourself. Only the toilet is a rather unsavoury experience (hot box) and it is up in the car park. I'd recommend getting your number 2 toilet needs out of the way before arriving at the beach. At least going for number 1 is easier on anyone! Also, driving to Spasmata is an experience. You need a vehicle with enough torque (4x4). The gradient of the roads is extremely high with tight and blind bends. You need to be careful of foolish and irresponsible locals who are speeding on this stretch of sketchy road. As you exit from the airport road to the turn for Spasmata, go downhill to the first Y junction, and take the LEFT, not the RIGHT. Follow this road all the way until the next Y junction. Then take the RIGHT. Follow this road and you should exit onto a rather wide road with NATO fencing because you are right next to the airport runway! Access to Spasmata is best this way. If you follow Google maps it will take all the way to the cliffs of the beach, but the descent is treacherous for those not wearing good grip footwear, ladies you have been warned!

A worthwhile visit in Kefalonia is visiting the capitol Argostoli, whether its shopping, night life, culture, museums(earthquake museum is worth visit, so is Argostoli culture museum (Corgialenous). Maybe, if you're lucky view the turtles in the mornings by the bay area- its really magical. Can be warm during the day, so stay hydrated, there are plenty of cafes, restaurants & shops to visit to take the heat out of the day. Was part of a package visit bought from a local tourist agency office in Skala Town centre. Tour guide was very friendly, English speaking. They picked us up from our hotel & was very knowledgeable about the local history. Also visited Italian war memorial & St Theodore Lighthouse - the views are really beautiful - well worth a visit in Kefalonia

De Bosset Bridge, also known as Drapano Bridge, is a remarkable stone bridge stretching 700 meters across the sea, connecting Argostoli with settlements on the north side of Koutavos Lagoon. Built in 1813 by Swiss engineer De Bosset, it offers stunning views of Argostoli and its marina. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls or cycling sessions along the causeway, even at night.
This is a must place to go if your visiting Argostoli. Go late afternoon / early evening and, if you're patient, you'll see turtles coming up for air. You can, if the mood takes you, walk to the other side of the harbour, but at least go to the obelisk for a great view of Argostoli. The harbour front can seem a little 'down at heel', but it's perfectly safe and busy. Go one or two streets inland and you'll come to pleasent and long shopping street - souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants, high end shops etc, etc.

If you're in Argostoli, make time to walk this bridge. One of my favorite things I experienced while on Cephalonia. Tranquil walk and lovely view of the city from here.

A historic bridge, a scenic walkway and viewing site for turtles, though we just saw an egret catching the many fish
Penny B — Google review
A highlight in Argostoli is its longest stone bridge in the world over a sea (at almost 700m), a marvel of ever-changing colors. Built in the early 19th century, it withstood several earthquakes, in particular the tragic 1953 one which flattened the city. It zigzags across the shallow bay, giving strollers time to watch rich marine life all around. A delightful walk at all times of day and night.
Cécile E — Google review
Convenient bridge with clear shallow water on both sides. Also an historic monument, it connects Argostoli to the other side and it is about a 10 minute walk. If it's busy in the city you can park your car at the other side and walk to the city.
Diederik D — Google review
A visit to the De Bosset Bridge is an absolute must-do when you're in Argostoli. This historic stone bridge is not just a way to get from one side of the bay to the other; it's a beautiful, peaceful walk with stunning views. As you stroll across, you can see the clear turquoise waters, and it's a great spot to watch the local fishing boats and the occasional loggerhead turtle swimming below. The monument in the center adds a touch of historical grandeur, and the entire experience is incredibly serene, especially in the morning or late afternoon. It truly connects the main town of Argostoli with the surrounding landscape in a special way. This bridge is more than a landmark; it's an experience that captures the essence of Kefalonia's tranquil beauty. I can't recommend it enough—make sure you take the time to walk its length.

DO NOT COME HERE, YOU WILL BE POISONED WARNING: all the reviews posted with Greek names in the last hour are fake and they are posting more. They're written by the same person (probably the lying owner), as you can see with all the exclamation marks and comments on ‘food safety’ in poor English. We were a group of 6, we ordered some omelettes with sausage and cheese, 2 English breakfasts and a burger. The omelettes were basically inedible; stuffed full of grease and processed sausage and meat. The English breakfast had very cold baked beans, and SOUR ‘sausages’ that had been frozen. The worst part was the burger, after eating it my friend immediately vomited outside. He has now spent the day vomiting. Definitely bacterial contamination from the kitchen. The waiters saw him being sick and were spoken to about the problem but just didn’t care - no refund and no kindness offered. This place is genuinely disgusting for food and the reviews with all the exclamation marks are definitely fake. My friend is still incredibly ill from your burger and it’s ruined the last day of his holiday. EDIT AFTER COMMENT: what a horrible response. We didn’t need a hospital to wait in A&E for hours, we need you to clean your kitchen and not provide disgusting dishes. Our friend literally walked out of your cafe and immediately vomited up the burger on the floor. the only person who offered to help us was a random delivery driver on a motorbike. The young waiters stood there uselessly watching him be sick, no apology and no refund.

The Captain's Table restaurant in Argostoli offers an upscale waterfront dining experience with a wide-ranging Greek menu. The friendly service and delicious coffee are nice extras, and the views are top-notch. For value, two coffees and a large bottle of water is only 6 euros. This conveniently located restaurant is popular with visitors to Argostoli.
Amazing view and location + the food is absolutely beautiful. Returned with my friends many times, I was beyond impressed. Highly recommend the salmon and the sword fish. We had the wonderful Panagiotis take care of us each time we visited, send him our love we were so happy with his service!! Hope to be back soon :)

A cute restaurant with a view of the marina and the mountains with pleasant and professional service. The gamista (vegetarian stuffed vegetables) are delicious, but the pickled anchovy dish felt quality but bought, the meat pie was not ideally made and lacked seasoning. Overall, we may have fallen for less successful dishes. Worth another try
Idan U — Google review
We visited Captain’s Table yesterday. The location is really beautiful, right by the water – the atmosphere was pleasant. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of our visit. We ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad, a double cheeseburger, the Chicken Caesar Burger, and an avocado toast. The Caesar Salad was disappointing – the dressing tasted heavily of mayonnaise and nothing like a real Caesar dressing. The chicken pieces were pre-fried, greasy, and didn’t taste fresh at all. The cheeseburger was inedible. The patty had an extremely high onion content, making it oddly creamy rather than meaty. There was no mention of onions on the menu – misleading and simply not tasty. The “fresh” fries were also not convincing. They were very crispy but overly oily, as if they had been fried more than once or reheated. Definitely not fresh. The chicken burger tasted very similar to the Caesar chicken – again, not fresh, likely frozen or pre-fried. The avocado toast was the low point: not fresh avocado, but an overripe, mushy cream with a spoiled taste. It was not edible – we left it untouched. The drinks were okay. But what really ruined the experience was the service. When we mentioned the issues, there was no reaction at all – no interest, no apology, nothing. Bottom line: beautiful location, but poor food and terrible service. Definitely not a place we would return to.

Guys, I usually don't talk to much about food, although I'm a foodie, but yesterday night I ate the BEST grilled octopus of my life and I'm not exaggerating, I've been visiting Greece for 10 years and no octopus has ever impressed me like this dish did. It melts in your mouth and combined with the puree makes it even better. The taste was divine. The staff was nice and hardworking. Thank you and my compliments to the chef!

We came here for brunch and loved the setting – a lovely spot with a nice atmosphere and a beautiful location. However, the food didn’t fully meet our expectations. My omelette was quite plain, and the English breakfast was a bit disappointing in both quality and taste. It’s definitely a place with potential, but the breakfast menu could use some improvement. Booking in advance is recommended, as it can get quite busy.

I had one of my most memorable meals in Kefalonia at Captain’s Table. This beautiful little taverna stole my heart with its authentic flavors, warm atmosphere, and peaceful seaside setting. The grilled octopus and grilled squid were simply amazing — fresh, tender, and cooked to perfection. You could truly taste the sea in every bite. It’s rare to find seafood so well-prepared, and here it felt like eating a dish made with love and tradition. The people were kind and welcoming, and the whole experience felt genuine and relaxed, like visiting a family home. PAN NIK, located in Argostoli Square, offers exceptional food and service. Customers rave about the chicken ceaser salad, halloumi, and Taziki, all of which are delicious. The menu also includes chicken skewers with chips, baked cheese, and various Greek starters that are mouthwatering. The portions are generous for their affordable prices. The atmosphere in the square adds to the overall dining experience.
Roll up if you're a carnivore. The food is heaped high, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. We had the meat assortment, a bargain at €26 for two, as was the wine at €8 a litre. Superb service and a bustling square in front of us made for a special and atmospheric evening to remember.

This was a great experience and there is no reason for any negative reviews. They have a smokestack so you can’t be unhappy. Delicious tzatziki and great portions.

Located on the Main Square, Pan Nik offers traditional cooked meat. Many options and varieties. As a vegetarian, it’s always hard to get a meal. My options were a friend vegetable burger, pizza, salad or various dips. Luckily I eat cheese and I ordered the pizza. It was homemade and I topped it with mushrooms, tomato and onions. We sat outside under the shade and enjoyed the scene. Kids on bikes and tourists strolling past. I highly recommend for meat eaters.

If you like your meat this is a must visit. We had pork chops, half chicken, and lahmachun (loved this Armenian pizza with spiced beef mince, lots of mince!!) All with village salad. All BIG portions and VERY tasty. DELICIOUS🙂❤️ sorry no pictures as too busy eating!

The take away gyros was simple, generous and tasty. Nice kids-friendly terrace on the huge central pedestrian Argostoli square. I strongly recommend for families and large parties as it's very spacious and everyone can find something to their taste on the menu.

Minimum price of gyros is less than €5 and gyros meat tastes so good. I already try the gyros sandwich and gyros pita. I'll coming back next time to try the others like barbecue stick kebab 😊

The table service was great as was the food. However, when we went to pay we asked if we could pay separately. The waiter told us, no problem, if we head up to the counter we can pay separately. When we got there we were confronted with a very small angry man who we assumed was the manager or owner. We asked to split the bill and he aggressively told us no as if we had already asked this repeatedly, although it was our first time. We explained that we were told we would be able to but our comments were met with ignorance and frustration. One member of our group paid the bill and when he received his change the man smacked the money down on the counter in anger and didn’t thank us for coming or wish us a good night. Would love to go back for the food but refuse to benefit a person with this much arrogance and disrespect.

We ate here in our last day on the island. Big chicken souvlaki was very good, tzatziki and the cheese also. Mamos beer worked fine with the food.

Nestled in the heart of Argostoli, Aristofanis Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that captures the essence of Greek cuisine. Known for its inviting atmosphere, this eatery offers a menu brimming with mouthwatering options. Guests rave about their Souvlaki—grilled skewers of marinated meat served alongside Pita bread and Tzatziki—which has become a beloved choice among both locals and visitors.
Great food, beautiful location and staff impeccable! On our last day the owner's son have offered us the drinks as a thanks for coming almost every day in their restaurant, was a very nice gesture! Thank you very much Aristofanis!!!

I had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The service was incredibly fast and flawless, which made everything feel effortless and enjoyable. What truly stood out was the staff: warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. From the moment I walked in, I felt taken care of. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect meal and top-tier service in a cozy, inviting atmosphere.

After reading some of the reviews I was slightly concerned. All I can say is that from the minute we arrived till we left the atmosphere, the food, the staff, and the Ouzo was fantastic. We had the grilled calamari, smoked mackerel, a salad to start and our mains were grilled swordfish, mussels, sea bass filet and coconut shrimp with curry - all the food was excellent! I will be back next time I’m on the island!
Robert H — Google review
Definitely one of the nicest spots in Argostoli, particularly when you can secure a table by the water, facing the impressive length of the bridge. Food is tasty and service fast. Only downside is the unasked for paying bread and plastic bottled water. The amount is nothing to fuss about, but we're happy to pay for what we ordered and whatever else is brought to the table should be complimentary, which is the case in most Greek restaurants.
Cécile E — Google review
I felt so nauseous after the food. The food was not good, me and my parents ordered, grilled octopus, seafood orzo, fried calamari, saganki as well. The grilled octopus was TINY just the tiniest tentacle. The seafood orzo that you see in the picture-the mussels were called and the orzo had a really bad overpowering tomato taste with some cheese I almost choked on. The fried calamari was badly chewy you can get better in the uk. But the only thing that was amazing was seeing the massive sea turtle in the sea.
Soyeon — Google review
Food was not great.. I ordered shrimp's pasta and had more shrimp's heads and very tiny shrimps that tasted awful 😞. The sauce of the pasta seemed to be an 'instant mix'. The wine was served in a very tiny glass that is not dedicated to wine. The wine wad terrible, I don't recommend. The only good thing was the view if you are lucky enough to find a table near the water where tortoises and swans come near.. (it was not my case)
Andreea N — Google review
The grilled squid was very tough. The fried squid was plentiful and tasty. The grilled tuna was excellent. Unfortunately, the side dishes served with the squid and tuna were very small. We had 7 portions of food, and they all came one after another with intervals of 5–8 minutes between them.

Restaurant
This restaurant, TAVERNA PATSOURAS, is a charming establishment located close to the city center. It offers a delightful selection of traditional Greek dishes that are prepared with care and attention. The owners, a young couple who serve the customers themselves, are friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and reminds one of homemade recipes passed down through generations. A standout dish is the Melanzane imam, but other recommended options include Mousaka, Pastitsio, and sea bream.
My wife discovered this place when researching Kefalonia and we said we’d try it at some point although hadn’t planned to this evening. We arrived around 8.30pm - on a Monday evening out of season, it was quiet but still a few tables busy outside. So there is a menu but they quickly come out and tell you what is left and what isn’t. They will also invite you inside to see what is left - this is homemade cooking which is done during the day and then heated to order. When it’s done it’s done!! We ordered what we thought was sensible but it turned out we ordered too much! No complaints though, it was great and we loved everything. It’s super relaxed, charming, low-key, friendly … and hearty, tasty food. And the price, wow, talk about value for money. We had the spicy cheese to start and then had stuffed peppers, giant beans and pasticcio as a main. They were all great. No doubt we’d happily go there again when we’re back!

We visited this place on August 23. We were 4 and late, but they still had a couple of tables free. The food is not the touristic gyros bla bla. We took tzaziki, saganaki, lemon potatoes, cannelloni, pasticcio, stuffed tomatoes, chicken filet with roasted, potatoes. We drunk retzina, uzo, cola, water, ice tea. At the end we tried the chocolate pie. All extremely tasty and good. Nice atmosphere, good service, generous portions, we could bring home what was left on the table. Nice prices. Very good value for money and very reccomended. We were a family of four and we spent Euro 81.

This was our first experience of Greek food in Argostoli, and what a good start! The food is rustic, plentiful and fresh, with a small menu of authentic Greek cuisine and a warm welcome. The area in front is having work done so it looks a bit of a dump, but I was too busy looking at my other half’s happy mush to notice. We had a Greek salad, roast chicken with potatoes and the Moussaka. My only quibble was that the red wine was chilled, that’s just odd for me but we rolled with it and it was still lovely, €4 for half a carafe you can’t complain! They had an issue with the card machine on the day we went so luckily we had cash on us. Will definitely be back.

The best Greek traditional food in the best way possible! You must have tried moussaka before, but this moussaka.. this is special, the taste is so well defined by the spices they put in. Also, the aubergines, wow, and the octopus! And right after all these, the youghurt with honey! All of this, for the perfect prices. Reservation needed, can easily get full.

Kalamia Beach is a charming spot located near Argostoli, accessible by foot. While the route to the beach may be a bit tricky to find, it's worth the effort for those seeking a leisurely beach day without bustling water sports. The beach features warm and shallow waters with some stones at the entrance, making it suitable for snorkeling and swimming. Visitors can enjoy a mediocre beach bar with a limited menu and are advised that reserved umbrellas are primarily for Italian tourists from nearby hotels.
Lovely little beach, we visited at Easter and after a family left, had the whole beach to ourselves, lovely turquoise water, nice and warm considering the time of year and a nice little cave/arch for the kids to explore. No parking but we parked on the roadside and walked down, not far at all Only downside was the rubbish washed up but I'm sure during peak season it's cleared away. Great little beach, would recommend.
Stuart P — Google review
We visited on a Friday, it was not overly busy, you can rent umbrella and two lounges for €15 and they ask you not to eat your own food but to buy food they supply the beach is a beautiful beach. The sea is calm and clear and makes for a good swim as it does not drop off too quickly. We didn’t see many children on the beach mostly adults we thought it was good value for money with the umbrella and two lounges the food was reasonably priced. There is a small amount of parking up on the road and then a short walk down to the beach that is quite easy. We stayed for around six hours and was very enjoyable.
Kevin M — Google review
This place is absolutely beautiful – one of the most stunning beaches we’ve visited. The water was clear and pleasant, but the seabed is rocky in many areas, so if you want to get close to the cave-like rock formation, be careful.
Péterová B — Google review
Beautiful beach, there are sunbeds available for 15€ per set (2 sunbets and umbrella). There were a strong smell in the area, I don't know if it because of the time of the day, or this place has a bad adore in general
Theodore I — Google review
Just a short walk from our hotel. Sunbeds and umbrella was €15 for the day. The sea was beautiful and crystal clear. Great for snorkelling around the rocks. Cafe was great and reasonably priced.
Wayne S — Google review
One of the best beaches in Greece. Get there before mid-day if you need an umbrella and chairs ($15) as it was full when we went. Clear water, sandy beach, caves, rocks, great for snorkelling, snack shack, shower, toilet. Not accessible for all however. Don't come here so there is more space for me next time! Haha
Richard B — Google review
A small, picturesque beach, extremely quiet and relatively private. Parking is available along the roadside, and it has never been crowded. Access is via a dirt path, easy to walk down in 2–3 minutes. Two sunbeds with an umbrella cost €15. You can also sit freely on the sand. There is a bar serving cold drinks and snacks. No restroom facilities — the only downside.

The theatre in Argostoli puts on a large range of productions from plays to concerts and during the winter months becomes a very comfortable cinema as well. There are occasionally classic movies but also latest releases. I have seen several of the new Star Wars films in 3D, and I am writing this review have just returned home from watching Last Christmas a new release certainly across Britain but also here. The Corgialenios Historical & Cultural Museum is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. It houses a collection of photos, paintings, and artifacts that showcase the island's rich heritage. The museum is part of the Corgialenios Foundation, which was established in 1924 with a mission to preserve and promote Kefalonia's cultural traditions. Visitors can also explore the Archaeological Museum and the Historical and Folklore Museum nearby.
Fascinating museum providing some essential history of Kefalonia, For me, it was very interesting to see the devastation caused by the earthquake, and also the island's connection to the UK.

Fairly interesting museum with air conditioning. Historic items and paintings with a section/photographs of the earthquake and the re-build. €5 per adult and children are free. Staff were very welcoming and offered to answer any questions on anything in the museum. No signage to direct you there, but not far from the main square. Ask where you are staying to phone them directly to check opening times as it can vary through the season and can close (August 2025: 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday).

Interesting little local museum however not much about specific ancient greec history more on Georgian and victoria and early 20th century history
Jessica W — Google review
Excellent beach for most travelers. Free parking and free beach. You can rent lounge chairs and an umbrella for the day which is recommended. The shore is sandy with some rocks right when you enter the water. Children tend to move the few rocks every 5-10 meters to create rock free paths once in the water. The water is shallow for about ten to twenty meters before getting deeper where you can no longer stand. They have a nearby beach bar which serves cold beverage, alcoholic options, Greek food and pastries. There is also local tube, jet ski, and boat activities for a little more water sport / beach action for those thrill seekers. Otherwise, enjoy the day at the beach. This beach is tourist heavy during summer season so don't expect too much quiet but everyone is highly respectful. Family friendly. If you have water shoes, they are nice here if you have soft feet but not required. Highly recommend.

This is a magical little museum, perfect if you want to spend a cool hour or two out of the summer sun, discovering Kefalonia's layers of history and tradition. The museum is full of delightfully quirky objects: costumes, tools, examples of traditional craftwork, and paintings and photographs of Kefalonia from before the earthquake of 1953. This summer (2022) it also hosts an exhibition of imaginative semi-surreal encaustic paintings by the local contemporary artist, Alexis Avlamis, whose artworks here are inspired by the museum's items and displayed alongside them. The museum's director, Theotokoula Gasparou, is wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable in either Greek or English, and patiently answered all my children's questions during our visit. Highly recommended!

A truly beautiful spot by the sea, with a stunning view and a charming old windmill that gives the place a unique touch. The food was delicious and worth the wait, even if service was a bit slow. The staff was very polite and even let enjoy my meal on the lounge sofas, which made the experience more relaxed and enjoyable. The only real disappointment was the party that had been announced for 1 AM, also promoted on social media — unfortunately, it never happened and there was no explanation. Still, the atmosphere and the quality of the food made up for it.
Monica G — Google review
The negative reviews are, in my opinion, unfair. We ate dinner one evening here to watch the sun go down. It wasn't busy at all, so the atmosphere was maybe a little subdued. No wait for a table and we seated right by the open gkass doors overlooking the sea. The service was good, polite, attentive but not "in your face". All portions were a good size, the arincini with roquefort cheese in " angel hair" fine pasta strands partially so. For mains, rolled chicken with shrimp and the pork tenderloin. Both well presented and cooked just right. No deserts as we were full, but the coffee was good. Wine reasonably priced for the type of establishment it is aiming to be. It's a drive or taxi out from Argostoli but easy enough to find. Overall, it was a good dining experience, not the cheapest in Argostoli, but if you just want your standard Greek fayre, it's not for you.
Trevor R — Google review
the place is nice, on the water, cool athmosphere, food is also not bad, a little overpriced due to the location. however the service could really use some improvement, as the waiters and the staff are not the happiest people on the planet. plates were not descrived and badly explained in english. if you want to treat yourself do, but dont get too large expectations on the service, come for the food not for the service.

We were a group of 13 and waited over two hours before any food arrived. When my tuna finally came, it was completely raw — and not in a good “sushi” way, just undercooked and inedible. When I politely mentioned it to the waiter, his response was rude, dismissive, and downright unpleasant. Between the endless wait, poorly prepared food, and hostile service, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I would strongly advise avoiding this place at all costs.

Saw a number of reviews that were really high, and I absolutely agree. One thing missing from the other reviews; where they mention the value; is that we ate until our clothes were tights, and had 3 glasses of wine each and still came up under some of the other satisfied reviewers in terms of cost. So I have to assume the others tried to give 6 stars and couldn't.

The service is excellent! Very precise recommendations. The menu is good, we ordered starters, main dishes and all the desserts. All was tasty just with slight flaws: for example waiter offered us to choose level of steak and burger doneness, and it was a bit overdone. But not that critical to say that is was untasty but could be better. It’s still one of the best restaurants on the island. Perfect if you are looking for a bit fancy dining for the date.

Had a lovely dinner! Pastas were so delicious, with an unexpected twist of taste. The shrimps riganada was also very tasty. Last, but not least, portokalopita was 🫠 Very nice and kind staff. Loved it and I plan to return :)

The food here is excellent! The staff was very welcoming and attentive. Even the owner works the floor and everyone wants you to have a good experience. They have a very good wine selection and are happy to tell you about some of the greek wines and vineries. If you are interested-just ask. the The chef makes the ultimate magic, superb food.

Lovely dinner... Food exceptional. Nice setting in a small street. Good wine choice. We started with croquettes and ceviche, both were very delicious.. Before those, cream cheese were served. We had Lamb giouvetsi, Linguine lazareto and Mousaka for the mains. All very tasty. Stongly recomend. We also had local wine: San Gerasimo white, tasty wine. thanks..

A hidden gem in Argostoli, slightly set back from the main square and street this restaurant absolutely blew us away. An extensive list of local Kephalonian and Greek wines was available, and the food was absolutely delicious. I can especially recommend the Lamb with Orzo! To top it all off the staff were very attentive and friendly - 5 stars all round!

Very unique and tasty food and great hospitality from the team, we liked it a lot!

Another couple that we met at breakfast recommended this restaurant, so we thought we'd give it a try. We were blown away! A lot of the dishes are based on traditional Greek dishes, but they have been elevated to gourmet status. We had the octopus capaccio, which was the best octopus dish we've had in two weeks in Greece. The mains and desserts were equally as good. Our waiter was very helpful and happy to chat about the island (it was still quite early), he also recommended a very good local wine.

Nestled in the charming area of Lassi, Sto Psito is a delightful dining spot that offers more than just a meal; it provides an experience. With its stunning views, especially at sunset, this restaurant stands out for its slightly upscale ambiance compared to others in the vicinity. Guests can indulge in a variety of Greek and Kefalonian specialties alongside grilled meats and pastas. On weekends, you might even be treated to roast piglet on the spit!
Incredible dinner and view of sunset. Appetizer of feta, phyllo, honey & sesame seeds amazing. Moussake and oven lamb with potatoes great. Literally of house wine less than 10€. So great we are headed back two nights later. A bit out of town so less crowded which is great. Must try !!
Rick M — Google review
A great spot in Lassi with a beautiful sunset if you can get there for that time. The staff were friendly and attentive at the start but did forget about us near the end. The food was all excellent, we had the shrimp orzo and the usual starters and then a really nice dessert. Good local wine and Ouzo.
Stacey H — Google review
This is a lovely restaurant which if you are lucky to get a table for sunset then the views will be incredible. The staff were friendly and attentive. I have to day the food is exceptionally good - i had the pork chops and my wife had seafood pasta. The kids also enjoyed their food.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere, our 17 year old said, hands down best steak he had EVER had! Highly recommended, book to get a stunning sun set view table

A delightful dining experience with a view. The feta with honey provided a sweet and perfect start, followed by flawlessly fried cod. I finished with a dessert that tasted a bit like carrot cake and a glass of ouzo. Portion sizes were generous, the service attentive and caring, and the view absolutely fantastic.

Amazing. Had a dinner for 18 guests. Christos and Denise helped us make the perfect menu so that everyone could taste the local specialties. The place is beautiful, especially at sunset. Service was flawless. The team is amazing. And the food.... one of the best we've tried during our 2 weeks stay in Greece. Highly recommend Sto Psito, and will definitely return when we're back in Kefalonia.

Nestled along the scenic waterside promenade connecting Argostoli to Lassi, Vinaries is a beloved local gem renowned for its fresh seafood and fish dishes. Surrounded by lush greenery and offering stunning views of the Ionian Sea, this restaurant provides an ideal setting for savoring quality meals while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Guests rave about the generous pasta portions and expertly cooked fish, although some may find the fish servings on the smaller side.
Don't give this place a miss no matter what you do. Absolutely amazing fresh food, service was great and the view and atmosphere was just so incredibly relaxing. Five Stars all the waaaayy!!!

Amazing gem in Argostoli! Got this restaurant recommended by our hotel and we couldn’t be happier. The place is stunning! We saw a beautiful sunset by the water, great vibes, food was delicious, wine was fresh and desert was incredible.

Situated right on the water this seafood restaurant is an absolute gem. It is more pricey than restaurants in town however, it is worth it. The seafood is fantastic, service impeccable and the atmosphere great! Get a whole grilled fish, we got the grouper which was around 100€, and the saganaki was amazing.
Ania D — Google review
What a find this place was..we spotted it while on the ferry from Lixouri and went to try it. So glad we did! Such a tranquil spot, it's hard to believe the hustle and bustle of Argostoli is just around the corner! Wonderful food and friendly, helpful service. Highly recommended!

Pleasant enough - until you realise you’re being ripped off. Nice setting on the waters edge under the trees, and a la carte menu is not bad. However, beware the ‘catch of the day’ - priced at 70 euro /kg which is fine if you’re getting a portion of around 300g (which I found to be quite standard at most restaurants here and not bad at all). However they serve you about 150g of nice enough fish (one half a fish)- nothing spectacular (we ordered a single portion which I was led to believe would be 250g- grilled sea bream) - with a literal sprinkling of tasteless boiled carrot potato & courgette - and charge it at the price of 500g. You can see in the picture how small the portion is 😄. I commented on this when the bill came - and an argument between 2 staff ensued (in Greek so I wasn’t sure about what exactly) - and eventually wanting to just move on as I didn’t want anyone getting in trouble - I said no stress I’ll pay. However I wouldn’t go back or recommend this place that’s for sure.
Philip V — Google review
Lovely waterfront restaurant in the main town where you can choose your fish fresh. The prawn saganaki was particularly delicious and they build the tiramisu in front of you. Service was lovely as well.
Wen — Google review
The potions were generous, the flavours were spot on as was the cooking. The location is stunning. All in all a splendid meal, and I got to eat Sea Urchin for the first time in my 67 years on this planet. Mind you it was over 30 euros a portion...but as fresh as fresh can be
Adam W — Google review
After walking around Argostoli, around the coastline and round to the other side past the lighthouse, we saw this lovely restaurant by the sea so popped in for refreshments. If you are having a meal you get the tables with the best views, as we were having drinks only we could sit at any other tables. We decided to have a Greek Salad as well to take the edge off, and it was delicious, as I’m sure the rest of the food is here. The staff are very accommodating and the views are stunning. Unfortunately we were flying back the next day so could not sample the evening menu, but I’d say give it a shot.

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Vouti Beach. Not quite as popular as De Bosset Bridge, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Vouti Beach is a hidden gem located on the northern side of Kefalonia. It offers a tranquil and clean haven with stunning surroundings. The beach is divided by impressive rocks, with one side partly organized and featuring a beach bar, while the other side remains untouched. The crystal-clear azure waters and pebbled shoreline make it perfect for snorkeling enthusiasts.
One of our favorite beaches on this wonderful island The road up here is a bit more difficult, but it's ok There is a shower, toilet and free parking. Next to the parking lot is a small bar that offers you a wonderful view of the beach Here you can drink coffee, beer and also serve lunch Sunbeds cost 15 eur / set When we were there, 1/2 of June, there were not many people on the beach The beach is not sandy, small stones, you need suitable shoes, but the water is crystal clear We will definitely come back next year
Il _ — Google review
What a hidden gem! It's a must when in kefalonia. Lovely unspoilt beach. Few sunbeds. Cafe. Toilet too. Parking is available also. Totally unspoilt and clear blue water for swimming, snorkeling and just sitting in shallow water. Like I say.....hidden gem and lovely staff in cafe.
Lynn P — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Can get very crowded, despite the tricky road. Amazing views from above. There's a cute bar with basic food and passable service. Two sunbeds + umbrella are 15 euro in July 2025, if you're lucky to get some.
Annice W — Google review
Very nice peaceful beach with clear water and free beach beds. Good for snorkeling. Sun hides behind the nearest hill earlier than on other beaches creating nice shade. Very pleasant environment. I enjoyed it better than Myrthos beach.
Jeka M — Google review
I’m not sure if the road to this beach is worth it in the end. It's extremely steep, full of sharp corners and really narrow — borderline dangerous, and certainly not suitable for low cars. You might not find any parking spaces at the end. The beach itself is nice, but not much nicer than the surrounding beaches
Tzvetan G — Google review
Super nice beach Water very clear and clean. There is parking and toilets at the beach bar. Great for snorkeling. Road is a little bit difficult but manageable.
Ionel M — Google review
It is a nice beach, but I’m giving it 3 stars because the free beach area is located in the right corner. There, the stones are quite large, and it’s impossible to lie down for 2–3 hours if you only have regular towels. We ended up leaving and going to Agia Kiriaki Beach instead. Also, the road was the most challenging one we encountered in Kefalonia. It’s a matter of taste, of course, but I personally wouldn’t return to this beach.
Diana C — Google review
Marvellous water but come before 4 pm to enjoy one hour of sun at least, now in september at 5.15 pm it was all in shade. Last km is a steep dirt road, but I guess worth it if you stay the whole day, so I wouldn't come here just for the afternoon as a second beach.

Historic Sites
The Monument to the Fallen of the Acqui Division is a symbolic and universally valued memorial located on a hill above Argostoli. It commemorates nearly 9,000 Italian soldiers who were tragically executed by the Germans in 1943. This historical event is depicted in the novel "Captain Corelli's Mandolin." The monument serves as a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of war. Visitors describe it as a humbling and respectful site, with another smaller traditional Greek memorial nearby.
Worth a visit to pay respects, even for 5 minutes to reflect on tragedies of war, if you don't know what happened there is an information explaining...visit La Fossa while here, it's at the bottom of the road before turning left for Lassi
Alan G — Google review
Very humbling. Beautiful memorial and just down the path there is another smaller memorial. It's traditional Greek and there is a ruin building near. There are no plaques so I have no idea what the building was, but the graffiti was from the 40s. I recommend this memorial beware it's at the tip of a steep hill.

Monument for the Italian Aqui Division murdered by the Nazis after they had surrendered in WWII. I just hoped to have a better view over the sea. We passed by as a form of respect for their sacrifice and the history of the island.
Ina M — Google review
Very respectful monument on the hill above Argostoli to the fallen of the Acqui Division. I only learned about the fate of the thousands of Italian soldiers massacred or drowned after stumbling across this memorial. Yet another reminder of the waste and horror of war.

Fanari Beach, located in Argostoli, is a popular sandy beach known for its suitability for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. It's easily accessible from the city center and offers shallow, crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling. While lacking natural shade, visitors can bring their own parasols or find some in the nearby town. The beach is not overly crowded and features warm, clean water along with convenient amenities such as showers and nearby restaurants.
Lovely restaurant - delicious food and friendly staff. Had a good lunch between us of gyros, tuna salad and souvlaki. Very nicely done.

Our accommodation was right opposite this beach. It was perfect for a quick swim or an early morning splash! The waters are shallow and crystal clear. Also, it is sandy inside, which is a pleasure for your feet after you've experienced some of the Kefalonian rocky treasures. Not the prettiest shore, but definitely a very charming place to be!

A great beach stop with very shallow waters for children. They have little showers to wash sand off too. A small sandy beach, but perfect for a short stop. Lots of parking near by. There are two little restaurant too which for can get good and drinks for and look out to see to enjoy.

That water is nice for a quick dip but the beach in itself is super trashy. Since it's on the windier side, the waves bring in a lot of seaweeds. People have also made it worse by littering.

Excellent place, shame about the amount of trash littering the place. Seems like a common European theme, perhaps NZ has spoilt me to much though.

The Grillhouse Spyros is highly praised for its delectable cuisine and exceptional service. While an unfortunate incident with an insect occurred, the staff promptly resolved the issue by swiftly changing tables and serving the same dishes without hesitation. This showcases their commendable professionalism, resulting in a well-deserved 5-star rating. Additionally, the portions served are generously sized, with the mixed grill order for two proving to be more than sufficient. The food itself is delicious, and the service provided is top-notch.

Greek restaurant
Palia Plaka, situated in the Maistrato area of Argostoli, is a popular spot for traditional Kefalonian cuisine. For over two decades, both locals and tourists have gathered on its breezy seaside terrace to savor dishes like Kefalonian meat pie and braised goat sofigado. The extensive menu makes it challenging to choose from the array of well-prepared dishes available for lunch and dinner.
Simply exceptional simple Greek food and outstanding service! We had the fish (perch) and octopus pasta (both with couscous which was so well made) and a side of orzo beef which was so tender! The portions were HUGE. The bill was €21 with a large bottle of water. They even offered dessert on the house (which we politely declined as we were stuffed). We wished we found this place sooner! A must try!

Great family restaurant to enjoy lunch. Plenty of pre-cooked food to choose from and very delicious! The price is great also! The owner was very friendly and helped explained the dishes available to select. We ordered the octopus pasta, the meatballs with cooked greens, the fish fillet with stuffed tomato, and the fish pie. We ordered too much food and was able to get a to go box for the fish pie. 😉 Soo full, in a food coma now! We will definitely return next time we are in Kefalonia!

Koutavos Lagoon in Argostoli is connected to settlements by the de Bosset bridge, offering a picturesque view of the area. Despite some human impact, the lagoon boasts a diverse ecosystem with around 500 plant species, including endemic ones. Visitors can also observe unique local wildlife such as sea turtles and ducks. It's recommended to visit in the morning for optimal turtle spotting and to enjoy the tranquil nature walks along this beautiful lagoon.
A place where you can enjoy of a peaceful walk and view depending on your time you can also maybe visit the reptile center what is located in the park.
Angela S — Google review
North part of the lagoon v.nice would give 4/5 stars. You can follow a path from the bridge on the western shore all the way to the far southern tip of the lagoon. The path turns from slabbed tiles to wide gravel, w/chair accessible, benches every few hundred metres, some lighting+rubbish bins. However the further round you go the more unloved it becomes. Finally ending in a temporary fence blocking access to a lorry park on the edge of this fragile eco environment. The jetty is long time closed which is a real shame as with some TLC this would make a spectacular viewpoint for a very different view back to Argostoli. The prevailing wind direction also means there is a solid 4ft of rubbish floating and lapping up against the shoreline.! Every bit of rubbish that enters the bay looks like it eventually ends up here.!
Richard D — Google review

Boat rental service
Lagoon Activities in Argostoli offers a variety of boat rental services for tourists looking to explore the area. From the harbour, visitors can choose to take a ferry to Lixouri or opt for a day trip on one of the vessels operated by Enalios Cruises. These day trips include options like a naturist cruise and depart from Argostoli. Another option is to charter a private tour with Kefalonia Yachts.
We had a great time on the pedal boats going out across the lagoon and seeing the De Bosset Bridge from a new angle. We went twice in two days after our son enjoyed it so much and wanted to see the local sea turtle caretta-caretta. It can be hard pedalling against the wind if it picks up so save some energy for the return trip.
Jacob H — Google review
Very peaceful electric cruise around the lagoon. €40 for an electric boat, could probably seat 5 comfortably. €30 for a pedal which has 4 seats. Both 45minutes which is plenty. Seems a popular stop and pretty well run, the boats were going out as quickly as they came back in. We spotted a couple of turtles but would say we spotted just as many from the bridge and quayside. Was very nice for a different perspective.
Josh P — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience and the people running the whole thing are simply fantastic. Very kind and friendly, giving you great instructions and tips, both about how to steer the boat but also how to locate the turtles. Aim for early hours when it’s not very windy and you can clearly see below the boat. 100% recommend, would definitely visit again.

This is one of the best things my partner and I done in kefalonia! The workers are so friendly and helped us with any questions we had, it was cash only as the card machine had gone down but luckily we had some euros. I would recommend having some euros incase this happens again so then you dont have to wait around for it to work or go and find a way to get money out. My partner and I got an electric boat which was only 10 euros more (around 40 euros for the electric boats) We managed to see a couple small turtles and two big sea turtles swimming below us! It was absolutely amazing and really made our day! The boat has shade which is essential in the heat! They also handed us free cold water bottles for when you're on the boats which was so nice! Definitely recommend and will be back to do it again!

We hired an electric boat and it was €40 for 45 minutes. Very good fun. The guy explained where you could and couldn't go and off we went!

It was a very nice boattrip with sight on the mountains and city. The boat have shadow. It is very calm on the water. And there are seaturtles near the shoreline, but you have to see closely. Float in the water at 10:00-11:00 hours.

We came by cruise ship and it was a 25 minute leisurely walk from the terminal. We hired an electric boat for 45 mins which was €40. Nice gentle ride around, and we did spot turtles.

Very enjoyable pedal boat trip. The staff provided us with cold water. The sun was too strong however. I think it would be more enjoyable on the afternoon

Lithostroto shopping marble walkway

Pedestrian zone
The Lithostroto, a bustling shopping area in Argostoli, is the heart of city life alongside the port. This spacious pedestrian road attracts visitors with its array of traditional Greek product stores, boutique craft shops, and various other retail options. It offers a delightful opportunity for leisurely strolls while exploring an abundance of shops that cater to diverse interests and budgets. From affordable souvenirs to higher-end fashion items like dresses and shirts, this marble walkway has something for everyone's taste.
A pretty shopping street with lots of shops, bars and cafes. It was nice to take a stroll along and stop for breakfast.
Lizzy B — Google review
We visited this main street of Argostoli on an early summer's evening when it was lite up and lively with tourist shoppers and locals. It runs through the centre of the town, slightly set back and parallel to the harbour walk. It is filled with restaurants, clothes and gift shops that one can peruse in a friendly manner - at least we were not having to fend off over pushy shop or restaurant sellers, etc. It makes for a relatively nice thing to do one evening when/if in Argostoli, when all the lights are on giving some nice photo opportunities.
Angus C — Google review
Main shopping area in Argostoli where you can spend a lot of money if you wish 😂. Things aren't overpriced but there is a lot that tickles your fancy and is just a bit different. A lot of shops with Greek designer displays, lovely fashion and jewelry. I did restrain myself but got a few lovely finds I will treasure and will be a wonderful memory back home.
Cloud — Google review
The main shopping street of Argostoli. It's small comparing to Corfu Town for example, but still enough to lose some time and money on a night out.

Russell D — Google review
Wasn't expecting this , talk about a shopping overdose 😄 my wife loved it and I adopted the role of bag carrier ( again 😀) Going back in a couple of days. But to the detail, many many shops , whether you want souvenirs for back home or a new dress ( or shirt ) or shoes you'll surely find it here from modest prices to higher end, get your credit card ready 😉

Lots of sunshade, tidy and easy walking.

Lovely walkway of shops and coffee houses going on for many blocks. You can shop for many other bits of tourist tat as well. Perfectly pleasant for spending some hours meandering about here and there. Dodoni has the best ice cream, some of the best in Greece and is not to be missed!

Greek Orthodox church
Cave Hermitage Saint Gerasimos is a historical site located on a hillside above the resort of Lassi in Kefalonia. It was used by Saint Gerasimos as a hermitage from 1555 to 1560, where he led a strict and frugal life. The cave is accompanied by a beautiful chapel and offers stunning views during the steep climb up the hill.
Beautiful Church. A place that needs seeing if you are visiting Kefalonia just for the historical value ! (That is also free of charge, no admitance needed) When we visited it was empty, and it was very pleasant to enter the cave , it gives you a airie feeling that is undescribable in words. I highly recommend visiting.
A C — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly blessed and sacred place! The Cave Hermitage of Saint Gerasimos is an incredible site that radiates with spiritual power. You can feel the profound history and devotion that permeates the air. It's especially moving to learn about the many miracles attributed to Saint Gerasimos; stories of his healing and divine intervention are a testament to his sanctity. This is not just a historical site, but a place of deep faith and pilgrimage. An unforgettable experience for anyone seeking spiritual reflection and connection.
Ioannis — Google review
Huge caves...took only 20 minutes to walk around, quite cheap to gain admittance worth the visit
Rach M — Google review
Even if you aren't religious worth the half mile from the main road to see it quite steep

Ancient Ruins
Nestled in the heart of Greece, the Mycenaean Necropolis of Mazarakata is a captivating archaeological site that dates back to between 1390 and 1100 BC. This small yet remarkable cemetery boasts an extensive collection of tombs, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore their interiors. During my visit, I was pleasantly surprised by the tranquility of the area, making it an ideal spot for reflection amidst ancient history.
Fascinating to explore. Especially out of season when there's no-one about. The gates look closed but can be opened if you reach through the gate and undo the latch.
Amy K — Google review
Too bad places like this don't get much attention. History can be touch and seen in places like this one.
Fred — Google review
Stumbled on this by accident. The history is amazing and so many tombs were found. Was a quiet place and well looked after. Worth reading about and looking at the tombs if your in the area. Sad story about the holes in the rocks too.
Kev J — Google review
It’s closed. Locked up !!! Possibly because it’s off season ?
Jeremy K — Google review
We came across this little gem by good fortune on the way to the airport. The site hosts an impressively extensive array of tombs which you are able to scramble through to the interiors.
Ryan C — Google review
A remarkable complex of tombs in this small Mycenaean cemetery dating from 1390 to 1100 BC. It exceeded my expectations and was quiet when I visited. Seems sad that the bodies now lie exposed and undignified in modern museums.
Ganu G — Google review
Unfortunately the site was locked and were we only able to take some picture from behind the fence. So based on our visit a 3 star rating, mainly because of the lack of access to the site itself. As a lover of ancient history, based on what I see and read now from other contributors, I would probably have given it a 5 star rating - a pity, hopefully you'll have more luck
Tom M — Google review
Amazing place which has been further excavated since our visit last year. Lots of tomb types to explore. Yes visitors really can walk into them! An info board tells all about it but would have been better in smaller chunks spread over the site. Well worth a 30 minute stop. The gate appears locked but fiddle around for the catch on the inside.

We visited Via Vallianou twice during our week in Kefalonia and absolutely loved it both times. The cocktails were excellent — beautifully made and really well-balanced — easily some of the best we had on the island. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating such a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. The music was spot on and added to the lovely evening vibe without being too loud or intrusive. It’s the perfect place to unwind with a drink and soak up the laid-back charm of Argostoli. Highly recommend if you’re in town — we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Kefalonia!

Via Vallianou: A Pristine Oasis with Exceptional Service Via Vallianou is a true gem that consistently delivers a delightful experience. From the moment you get there, you're greeted by an atmosphere of pristine elegance. The decor is a study in minimalist beauty, with everything impeccably white and sparkling clean. This creates an incredibly refreshing and calming ambiance, making it the perfect spot to unwind or catch up with friends. Comfort is clearly a priority here, as the seating is exceptionally nice and comfortable. Whether you're sinking into a plush armchair or a stylish banquette, you'll feel completely at ease, ready to linger over your coffee or brunch. And speaking of coffee, their Freddo Espresso is simply outstanding. It's perfectly brewed, robust, and expertly crafted, providing that essential caffeine kick with a smooth, rich flavor. Beyond the excellent coffee, Via Vallianou also boasts an amazing array of brunch options. From classic favorites to innovative dishes, there's something to satisfy every craving, all prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. What truly elevates the Via Vallianou experience, however, is the exceptional service, particularly from a waitress named Clair. Clair is an absolute standout. She is incredibly nice, always greeting guests with a warm and genuine smile. Beyond her friendly demeanor, she is remarkably professional, attentive, and efficient. Clair anticipates your needs without being intrusive, ensuring your visit is seamless and enjoyable from start to finish. Her dedication to customer satisfaction is truly commendable and makes a significant difference in the overall dining experience. In summary, Via Vallianou offers a winning combination of chic, comfortable surroundings, delicious food and beverages, and, most importantly, top-notch service. A visit here is a must, and if you're lucky enough to be served by Clair, you're in for a treat!

I spent a few days in Argostoli, my first trip as a solo traveller. I came here mostly because it looked so pretty with all the white chairs and parasols. I was served by the lovely Claire who was amazing, attentive, chatty and efficient. She remembered me and made me feel very welcome and relaxed. The food was delicious and great value especially given the atmosphere and the glamour of the place. The cocktails were amazing! Even the toilets were impressive. There was a DJ playing music in the evenings which I really enjoyed. I would highly recommend this place!

The worst Gin basil smash ever. It was basically a fancy "pulco lime" for 13 euros. No taste of basil. It was alcohol free, but you couldn't taste the alcohol free gin either. The music was good. We got our cocktails delayed so they gave us free water and chips. The place was full until late.

Upon arriving at the island, we stopped at Kalaphátēs, a restaurant with an aggressive owner who insisted on inviting us in. Hungry and pressed for time, we reluctantly accepted a table. We ordered basic dishes such as tzatziki, chicken souvlaki, pork, fried zucchini, and cheese. The food was average but nothing remarkable.
Read some really different reviews here. I’m guessing it’s a busy place in the evenings and the staff could be under pressure and get some things wrong. I also know some people are rude, impatient and feel entitled… I see it every holiday… My experience for a late lunch It was a beautiful location, wasn’t too busy at that time of the day, so we got served quickly and the food was excellent! Service was perfectly fine, engaged in some friendly chat with the staff and we had a lovely meal. I don’t know what some people except sometimes. If you want Michelin stars, put some nice clothes on and pay the price. If you want a decent meal in a relaxed atmosphere with your shorts and flips flops with some friendly banter, this place is more that well situated and suited 😎

I regret deeply not checking the reviews.. The food was very overpriced and mid. I ordered a Tuna steak after specifically asking the waiter if it could be cooked medium rare and if it came with potatoes. I got a carton-taste slice with a half of a boiled potato (i regret not taking a photo). Luckily, the waiter agreed to replace what i got with the dish i actually ordered. After a few minutes another waiter gave me a plate with something that was NOT tuna (third photo). Again, luckily i didn’t eat any of it until my waiter brought me my order. I will leave a photo with the 21€ “Medium-rare Tuna stake” with french fries. The waiters were chaotic and disorganized and the food was VERY overpriced… Please soameone tell the cook to stop overcooking the food as my friend ordered the Seafood Platter in which multiple items were overcooked/ burnt. I do not recommend this restaurabt for any one who wishes to eat good food for decent prices. 👎🏻

The worst mojito I’ve had in my life and I’ve had many! Made with lime cordial not fresh lime, absolutely horrible and not worth the €9.50. I know you pay for the location on the harbour but really think they could make more effort!

I enjoyed the meal. The waiters are friendly and the view amazing. Eating by the sea, enjoying the wildlife. I have paid for the main course, drink, bread and butter around 18€/person. The portion looked small but turned out to be enough. Not so bad for a place by the sea located in a touristic village.

Gregory is a very lovely host, he even gave us a free bottle of wine. The food is great and very decently priced, very big portions! Lovely staff and beautiful atmosphere right on the water. Recommend for a chill evening meal.
Kate J — Google review
Really bad experience! The service was the worst I have ever received in my life. After they convince you to serve your dinner there and you order, they pretty much abandon you. Nobody cleaned the table when the meal was finished or asked if I need anything else. The grilled seafood was overcooked, burnt, and the side “salad” had only tomato and 3 slices of cucumber. I do not recommend this restaurant!
Constantin E — Google review
Great seafood, large portion of grilled octopus and lot of seafood pasta! Greek salad was also good enough. Pleasant staff, warned us to not take two portions of octopus, because that could be too much. He was absolutely right! Also the atmosphere with sea view is nice. Recommend this place!

Kamaroules Stamatelatos Ταβερνάκι is a charming spot for brunch or lunch, opening at noon. Nestled above a rocky beach, it offers a picturesque setting with wooden tables among olive and pine trees. The ambiance is enhanced by the sound of cicadas and cute cats lounging in the shade, while diners can enjoy a soothing view of the sea as they sip on freddo cappuccinos.
Authentic family ran restaurant with stunning views! When we arrived, the owner of the restaurant has greeted us which was very nice. We had an aubergine dip, pitta bread and feta for starters, all very fresh and delicious. If you like aubergines, I would definitely recommend it as it was the best one I tried in Kefalonia. For the main we had gyros, the portions were very generous and everything was great. Overall, we loved it and the relaxed atmosphere in particular.

This place is wonderful it feels very authentic. Food amazing we had a selection of starters the Giant Butter Beans and aubergine was a highlight. The prawns were perfect! Service a little slow and sometimes chaotic, they brought our main sides out with the starters and the mains out without clearing away the starters plates. But this could be down to lost in translation and when we asked they were on the ball. Friendly and wonderful and when you have this setting you don't mind sitting for a little longer and relaxing! Wonderful we will be back!

A truly charming place with an outstanding view — set under the shade of trees, right above a cliff that overlooks crystal-clear waters. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, made even better by the friendly, smiling, and welcoming staff. All the products are fresh and carefully prepared. Everything we tasted was delicious and full of flavor — except the calamari, which I wouldn’t recommend. But aside from that, the whole menu was excellent and definitely worth a visit.

Il Borgo Restaurant is a renowned dining spot in Kefalonia, just a short walk from St. Georges Castle and a 15-minute drive from Argostoli. Its dramatic castle views and vine-covered terrace make it one of the best restaurants on the island. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus with delicious dishes like chicken Il Borgo, grilled salmon, moussaka, and pasticcio.
Great place with a view over St. Giorgios Church and very close to it that offers good dishes. I loved the zucchini fritters and the apple crumble. I also had the rabbit, but there were touches of coriander inside and that wasn't to my taste. The service was excellent, we managed to ask for recommendations on food and what to see around. The view is superb - you must try sitting on the terrace covered by wine vines as the view is breathtaking.

The restaurant is located on the mountainside with a breathtaking view of the coastline and the ancient fortress. Professional and fast staff, a varied menu that also offers classic dishes of the island alongside more unique dishes. We ordered a Greek salad and grilled octopus for starters which was really excellent. For mains we ordered the pasta dish with oxtail which was really excellent and special, and a steak which my wife always orders well down and for a change the steak came out perfect!! Chefs are usually hesitant to do such a degree of work and miss, their chef managed to bring the piece to the right degree of work and maintain its juiciness at the same time. It should be noted that there were a lot of bees, the staff provided smoke-emitting devices to effectively keep them away. In short, an excellent restaurant with amazing.

The food was good - not just tourist fare but actually good. If this restaurant was in Athens it would be good. I had the meatballs - cooked into they fall apart with homemade tomato sauce. The grilled vegetables were also very good - healthy, tasty. Beautiful views over the valley.

So many good things. Staff were perfect, views were perfect, food was perfect, cats were cute. Moussaka is my favourite Greek dish so I try it often, and this was by far the best one I found in Kefalonia. The bread and dip was sooo good. Grilled veggies were simple but perfect as they were. The steak looked good. Nice espresso after. It was pretty warm and quiet when we were there, and the staff even gave me an ice-cream after paying while they also enjoyed one. Would absolutely come back here again to visit the castle during opening hours.

This restaurant felt a bit more touristy, with many English visitors, not the classic taverna style I was looking for. The view was beautiful, and the food was good, but the place is definitely more upscale. It’s a lovely restaurant and was recommended to me, but it wasn’t quite what I had in mind. The portions were smaller compared to other places. I personally didn’t mind, but the guys in our group were a bit disappointed by that. On the other hand, the dessert was absolutely amazing, the portokalopita came with ice cream on top and it was incredible!

One of the best restaurants we tried in Kefalonia. The location is beautiful and well kept, with a romantic atmosphere and a stunning view over the coastline and the ancient fortress. The staff is professional and fast, and the menu combines traditional Greek dishes with more unique options. We had pita bread, tzatziki, olives, grilled octopus and cheese loukoumades to start, all excellent. For mains we tried the moussaka and the chicken “Il Borgo”, both very good with the moussaka being particularly abundant. Prices are fair and the service attentive. We left very satisfied and will definitely return.
