The National Museum of Flight in East Lothian offers an immersive experience into the captivating world of aviation history. Situated at the historic East Fortune Airfield, this outdoor museum boasts a remarkable 4-hangar collection of aircraft, featuring iconic planes like Concorde and Boeing 707 that visitors can explore up close. The museum's interactive exhibits vividly narrate the tales of pioneering pilots and groundbreaking aerospace technology.
I really enjoyed the visit as I had been fascinated by Concorde as a kid. It was amazing to be able to step aboard an aircraft that has been consigned to history. The information boards were really quite interesting. The other two planes outside the hangars weren’t open to visitors at the time I was there (July, 2025) though, from signage, it seemed they had been in the past. Staff were nice.

Brilliant day out. We thought 2 hours would be enough but we ended up spending 4.5 hours there. Loads of interesting things to see and do. Our whole family from aged 12 to 75 was entertained. The fantastic flight area where you go in a simulator, make paper aeroplanes and eject them was loads of fun. Staff were really passionate and helpful. Definitely recommend. Great family day out.
Rosa H — Google review
One of the remaining Concordes is located here. You can even take a walk inside of it! Though it’s a bit of a short ceiling so taller people could find it a little difficult to walk through. Highly recommend this museum. It also features a Vulcan, a Hawk(the Red Arrows version) and and even engines of the Concorde! A lot of information inside this museum, but for people looking for more I would recommend going to the RAF museum in London.
Fighterjetgeek — Google review
Fantastic day out! Lots to see and do across the various buildings at the site that to see everything, you will need the best part of the whole day. Obvious main attraction is Concorde which is well presented and has loads and loads of interesting information to digest if you like to read all the info boards (me!) I was particularly impressed with the video presentations and the hands on interactive elements which are well designed and appealing to both kids and adults alike. I wanted to visit for quite a while but never got around to it until now. So glad we spontaneously decided to jump across and visit when we did as it really is a great day out with so much to see and do. Highly recommended for a visit.
David M — Google review
This place really surprised me. So, so much more than a museum. Spread over a full airfield in many different aircraft hangars, there are more aircraft here than you can imagine. Get up close, see inside and imagine. Main attraction, Concorde is here. Stand below, touch the wheels, walk through the cabin, look inside the cockpit (scary that this could do over 1400 mph). All the history and details of all the aircraft are all here. We also loved the additional very informative talk on the restoration projects team. (Well worth adding) That hanger had everything...a random landrover, a girocopter, huge propeller aircraft engines to the engines off a nuclear bomb 😵...Very informative talk live on site explaining everything. I cannot recomend enough...100% recomend a visit. Don't go too late in the day though, you wont manage round it all before close. We were there at least 4-5 hrs and it went by in a flash. Loved it.
Alan B — Google review
It was great to return to East Fortune it's been many years since my last visit! Concorde is always an absolute highlight. It's truly a marvel of engineering. I would give anything to have experienced flying on it! Having just flown on a brand new A321 NEO Concorde is laughably small you need to crouch to get down to the cockpit! All the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable particularly in the restoration hanger. It's great to see investment in the site with new screens and visual guides to each of the planes around the hangers and the new parachute room. There are so many great exhibits for kids that teach them all about flight in a fun way. I would highly recommend a visit!
Michael B — Google review
Fantastic place to visit. The website really doesn't do it justice! Walk on board a Concorde and other big planes. The military hanger has a spitfire, harrier, tornado, jaguar and others. Lots of interactive displays throughout. Nice little cafe. Definitely worth a trip.
Mathew S — Google review
One of the best Aviation Museums to visit in the UK. I cam here using local buses in the Summer of 2019- I don't recommend doing that, use a car to get here! Amazing collection of civilian and military aircraft including Concorde, Avro Vulcan, Boeing 707 nose-section, BAC 1-11, DeHavilland Comet 4 and various others! I do recommend buying a ticket in advance.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Dirleton, Dirleton Castle & Gardens is a captivating medieval fortress that boasts an impressive history and stunning landscapes. Just a short drive from North Berwick and Yellowcraig beach, this remarkable site features the world's longest herbaceous border within its beautifully maintained 19th-century gardens. Visitors flock here not only for the castle's rich heritage but also to admire the vibrant floral displays that attract gardening enthusiasts from all over.
Absolutely loved our visit here with my 7 year old who loves Castles. Considering some parts were closed off to the public there was still lots to see in such beautiful gardens. Definitely recommend and a lovely little play park at the grounds too.
Jenna M — Google review
The castle ruins are interesting, though mostly ruins there’s plenty to explore. Such a beautiful place, the grounds are lovely, first time we have seen a Doocot. Would be even better in the summer with all the flowers out. Parking available along the road.
Wendy C — Google review
This was a lovely find. A very charming castle ruins with its own fascinating quirks, stood overlooking a beautifully kept, colourful garden - loved the Hollyhocks - with an unexpected bowls' lawn in immaculate condition. Nearby was a Doocot in excellent condition which allows you to walk in and imagine the scene, back in the day, when it was full of nesting pigeons.
James H — Google review
Even half closed for maintenance, it was still worth going. Looking at the description boards in each section and comparing to the ruins really transported you back to what it might have been like. Helpful young man on the entrance counter. Beautifully kept gardens.
Rob C — Google review
Fantastic little castle from 12th century to the time of Oliver Cromwell. Nice gardens too. About half of the castle can't currently be accessed, awaiting renovation, but still lots to explore. Full moat and bridge access. Huge cellars. Currently half price due to loss of access (£4.50) so great value. Takes about an hour to visit, free parking. Access is via gate on main road (back down slope from car park). No cafe, but pub just across the road.
Chris D — Google review
Have been to more interesting castles. A lot of it was shut off and was not available. What there was made it just about worth visiting. The dovecot...they call it a doocot...was interesting. Not particularly memorable overall. The gardens are lovely.
Duncan P — Google review
Entrance fee at half price (£4,50 instead of £9) as there is currently no visitor access to the Guard House, South Entrance and De Vaux range.
Yolanda V — Google review
I enjoyed my visit here. Considering some parts of the Castle are closed for renovation. There is still plenty to see and enjoy. I arrived by public transport there is a bus stop right outside and direct from North Berwick. Once inside, you are immediately drawn to the doocot which is really impressive. I was also impressed with the massive cellars, although I might not have fancied the working conditions. I was here about an hour, I had a good explore. There is a small souvenir shop and I should say it closed at lunchtime the day I visited. That didn't affect me and it was possibly because I was here in March, not the height of the season.

The Herringbone, located in North Berwick, offers a variety of creative cocktails, local craft beers, and liquors from nearby distilleries. The coastal-themed decor features exposed brick and whitewashed wood, creating a cool yet cozy atmosphere. The restaurant also provides an extensive wine selection. Visitors can enjoy delicious food with lovely presentation, including many vegan options.
We ordered 2 non-alcoholic cocktails, which were amazing. Probably the best non-alcoholic cocktails I've had before. We ordered the vegan options of Olives and Hummus, Winter Spiced Sweet Potato Parcel and Chocolate ganache and pear. All of our courses were absolutely delicious! The flavours, presentation, and quality of the ingredients were all perfect. Most enjoyable meal out I can remember! The staff were friendly and attentive and the ambience inside was relaxing. Glad we chose to eat there on our visit to North Berwick!

We cannot say enough good things about Herringbone. We arrived to North Berwick later in the evening on a Monday night when not many other restaurants were still open. Herringbone was able to accommodate us for food and drinks just before their kitchen closed. We got the steak and butternut squash, both of which were delicious. Everything was so good we came back for dinner the next night. We got tasty cocktails and the fish sandwich and curry chicken. Again we had spectacular food and great service. We will definitely return on any future trips to North Berwick!

Came for a family dinner and had a lovely night. Staff are faultless- super friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was great with nice live music that wasn’t overly loud. We had some bread and hummus and olives for starters and I had the gnocchi for main which was absolutely delicious. Had a raspberry margarita which was great as well. The lamb and chicken mains also looked amazing and such huge portions! Can’t recommend enough, will definitely come back if in the area again!

Booked a table for 13:00 hrs four people. Order was taken 13:10hrs. The menu online is not the same as the restaurant itself. There was several things missing like salmon, spaghetti and a few other important ingredients missing from the menu. Considering there's a co-op 3 doors down which I'm pretty sure they sold salmon spaghetti ect. Anyways after waiting 1 hour 15 minutes for my starter I asked the waiter why ut took so long, his reply was there's only 2 chefs. Firstly the place was quiet when we arrived, and saying thers only 2 chefs is a cop out. Anyways when the food arrived the curry was meaningless, the rice was stodgy and overcooked, the chip's where cold the chicken was as tuff as leather. The stripped steak slices where of a strange colour, look the whole experience was a complete disaster. And I mentioned this to the waitress when she asked if everything was ok. But I still paid over £100 and left most of our meal. Never again felt so ripped off 😪

I had been to the Abbeyhill one but this was my first visit here. Ambience and service great. We were here only for a short one-course lunch each. I had the chowder which was excellent as was my friend’s salmon burger. Would come back for a longer stay for sure.
Malcolm J — Google review
The service was really good, really nice waiters. I had the mussels (which comes with a tiny piece of bread) and they were amazing but then the lamb was really dry and bland and the couscous type of salad is really cold so bare that in mind. I must say the burger of the day was super good. Overall it was a bit expensive for what it is but the waiters were lovely.

Great Herringbone standards have been met! Friendly service, tasty burgers, cold beers! Can't wait to be back!

Poonthai's is a delightful Indian takeaway that offers a warm and accommodating atmosphere, perfect for those who enjoy flavorful cuisine. While the menu doesn't feature vegetarian options upfront, the staff is more than willing to customize dishes to suit your preferences. The service here is friendly and efficient, ensuring that your dining experience is enjoyable from start to finish. On a quiet Sunday evening visit in late April, I found the restaurant pleasantly empty, allowing for an intimate meal without distractions.
It was very delicious my red curry was amazing. The service was good very fast at bring my food . totally worth giving a try 😀

Take away was absolutely awful. Satay starter was disgusting - chicken was hard and sauce not nice. I have never had a Thai main dish with a thin gravy like sauce with no taste. Really awful.
Sharon C — Google review
Very average food was not overwhelmed by flavour. The staff were very friendly and they do have a lovely garden out that back that you would need to book I'm advance to secure a table. The food was not hugely flavoursome and lacked the real zing of other Thai places I've had. It was cheap and cheerful food but don't expect a life changing experience.
James O — Google review
The food is very basic but very very good. I highly recommend this place for people who like Thai cuisine. I am definitely going to come back.

Good food, tasty and price iajuat right. We sat outside, and it was a nice environment for when it was dry weather.
Grace D — Google review
Just plain rude. We had been going to this restaurant for years and we knew the family well. Then it changed hands and to be polite, went downhill at super-speed. Recently we got told it’s starting to improve. We were so excited to get a takeaway, to be told they don’t deliver, because it’s not worth their while. However if it’s a big order they would consider it…I can imagine how many customers old and new they have lost due to “it’s not worth our time”. Most people would willingly pay 3 or 4 quid to get a really decent takeaway, but after hearing “it’s not worth our time”. It seems you are not worth the customers time with that attitude….

Fabulous food, fantastic service and a lovely garden area so that you can have a drink with your meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant 💕

The Castle Inn provided a delightful dining experience, despite the limited time for ordering on a Saturday night. The quality of the food was exceptional, with the fish and chips and scampi both being particularly enjoyable. The desserts were also fantastic. The room offered a spacious layout and a picturesque view of the castle. While breakfast wasn't available, it didn't pose much of an issue as previous night's meal sufficed along with some in-room refreshments.
Been here for dinner or lunch 4 or 5 times now. Always a solid performance from the kitchen. The menu is fairly traditional and limited but it works for them so cant fault that. Had the fish today and it was superb - fresh and with a super batter and plenty of it. Previously had the steak Pie which was also superb. Partner had the Panko coated chicken breast and it was very tasty. Keep up the good work.
J C — Google review
Great place to stop and recharge after a long trail! The restaurant offers all your favourite pub classics as well as a large choice of draft ales. Everything was delicious and the portions were quite generous. The staff is friendly and the ambience is pretty cozy.

I stayed for one night and had a great experience. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the atmosphere was friendly. The kitchen is definitely one of the biggest highlights of this place, just like the staff — very helpful and welcoming. The bar also has a great vibe and character. I’ll definitely come back whenever I get the chance!

Such a lovely village pub.. all the staff and locals are so friendly and chatty, nothing was too much trouble.. even when my husband kicked a dog bowl of water over.. it was cleaned up and joked about. It is dog friendly with biscuits available for our 4 legged friends !! We had a meal on a Sunday.. slightly disappointed there wasn't a Sunday roast available, but the steak pie, mash, and veg were incredible. Definitely we will visit again soon.

Nestled in the picturesque East Lothian countryside, just a stone's throw from Edinburgh and near the National Museum of Flight, Merryhatton Garden Centre is a delightful destination for garden enthusiasts and food lovers alike. This vibrant garden centre features a modern café that serves an array of breakfast options, light lunches, delectable cakes, and traditional afternoon tea. Guests can indulge in hand-made sandwiches paired with freshly brewed coffee or tea while enjoying the serene ambiance of the covered garden area.
Lovely menu selection and fresh. Staff friendly and attentive. Spotless clean and nice toilets. There seemed to be a lot of regular customers. Our wee dog was made very welcome in their own section. See you the next time we are in the area.

A nice small garden centre. It has everything you need from a garden centre from furniture to plants to cards. The toilets are well appointed, there is a wheelchair friendly cubicle in the gents toilets. The cafe has a beautiful view too. There is a bin at the enterance/exit and there is a fairly small car park on site.

Was there today to meet a friend. Took a while for someone to come and seat us. Then we had to ask if anyone was taking our order. Service much slower than it used to be. Not a smiley face from any of the staff. My latte and scone were fine .

Arrived 10 mins prior to lunch menu starting. Drinks order taken and invited to take a seat then order taken at my table. Coffee arrived promptly. Cheese and Onion toastie amazing side salad with dressing/home made coleslaw etc and plenty of cheese and onion on generous slices of bread. Beautiful views from my window seat. Very popular so would recommend arriving early if you can. The waiting staff are very attentive. Led by professional manager. Altogether a lovely venue to spend time on a Sunday morning.

Beautiful garden centre with a large selection of gifts, indoor and outdoor plants but a shame about the cafe which isn’t anything special. Dirty tables, ran by untrained children, missing cutlery, empty salt & pepper shakers, ordered a toastie and got a sandwich. Watched a beautifully presented afternoon tea being served without cutlery or side plates - the ladies ate their scones from their napkins. Coffee was nice but definitely won’t be rushing back. Visited 14/6/25

Nice big flourishing nursery and coffee shop with plenty indoor and some not quite outdoor seating, in the warm covered area which does have a couple of windows, and a little robin that flies around occasionally. Pretty good menu too.

I had the best experience this morning heading out to Bass Rock for the photographic experience. The staff were so friendly, patient & kind. They really took care of everyone & that help make the experience. I can’t thank them enough. The boat out to Bass Rock was fab. We couldn’t Initially see Bass Rock for the fog! When we arrived the birds didn’t disappoint. There was lots of action, a few cute babies & plenty to see. Staff are protective of the birds & made sure they are looked after while we were there which was great. I was also lucky to meet some lovely people who were also on the trip. I would highly recommend the Bass Rock photographic experience. (Images included are just iPhone grabs!)

Just had a fab trip on a R.I.B..[Rigid Inflatable Boat!] On the "Three Islands Seabird Seafari!" Would highly recommend it. The guide on the boat was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly and willing to answer your questions. The boat was alot more comfortable than I thought. Took plenty of photos. Got lucky with the weather. Which is at the hands of mother nature. Would definitely recommend it as youre also supporting a good cause...in terms of the conservation of birds.

They have boat tours for different places like Isle of May (options of landing trips as well), Bass Rock trips (options for landings as well). Well managed and very friendly with great enthusiasm to show the nature and birds on island. I took Bass rock trip, it was super awesome. Charges for boat trip is very competitive. Staff is very courteous and knowledgeable.

On Thursday, 24th July 2025, we booked a birdwatching experience with the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick. As we were visiting my son Kiro at St Andrews University, we took public transport to the centre and boarded one of their boats. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We saw the islands of Craigleith and Bass Rock, where we were amazed to see thousands of birds nesting together in large colonies. The sight was truly impressive, and learning about the lighthouse's history added an extra layer of fascination. What struck most was how close we were able to get to the birds, it felt almost magical. To our delight, we even spotted a puffin, which was such a highlight. A truly mesmerising experience. If you are visiting this part of Scotland, we highly recommend booking one of these trips, it is unforgettable.

The Lobster Shack is a popular seafood spot located at the edge of the east bay in North Berwick. Known for its fresh and delicious seafood, it's a beloved institution in the area. Visitors often line up to savor their classic fish and chips, lobster rolls, and seafood bisque made from the day's catch. The restaurant prides itself on offering the freshest and most delectable seafood in North Berwick, making it a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.
We ate there on Sunday and although busy, the service was super fast. It is on the pricey side but the food is excellent! We ate the lobster/crab roll with chips and the fish burger. I almost preferred the burger although the lobster in the roll was really good! Plenty of sitting benches even on a sunny busy day.

We've visited the Lobster Shack several times now and it's always so fresh and tasty. Recent order included the lobster and crab roll (mouth-watering and full of meaty filling), half grilled lobster with chips (garlic butter was divine) and fish tacos (big thumbs up!). And to top it off, there are plenty of benches around to enjoy your scran with a sea view. Perfect!

Superb seafood and plenty of seating around to enjoy it. I recommend the seafood chowder which was so fresh tasty and very generous in the amount of seafood in the chowder itself. They have a good system where you order pay and wait a very short time with a buzzer

We had lobster and chips - delicious. The lobster was really fresh. Half a lobster (you get half a body/tail and 2 claws!) for £29.95 - not cheap but worth the experience. Will try others on the menu next time.

Nice stop for fish and chips, area to sit and eat isn't too great but it's fine for a quick stop to have your fish and chips. Fish is super fresh and perfect.
Nicole S — Google review
We had the fish and chips and the fish tacos both were delicious. I would definitely recommend going here if you're in north Berwick. We sat outside eating our food in the harbour.

Seafood restaurant
British restaurant
The Rocketeer Restaurant is a charming seaside eatery located in North Berwick, Scotland. Situated next to the Scottish Seabird Centre, it offers stunning panoramic views of Bass Rock from its iconic East Bay setting. The restaurant is known for its delicious seafood lunch and evening menus, as well as takeaway options, all made with fresh locally sourced produce. Visitors can enjoy morning coffee and breakfast or indulge in authentic seaside cuisine while taking in the picturesque harbor filled with boats.
We had a wonderful time visiting the restaurant after our hike. They're dog friendly and cook deliciously. Tried the breaded fish (half portion) and chips and their signature burger with bacon and cheese both are recommended. Our puppy got a bowl of water and snacks too, the chef even snuck him some sausages of course he asked first if it was okay. Managed to find parking nearby as well.

When I arrived in North Berwick, I was chatting with a local gentleman, and he highly recommended this place. The seafood chowder was the best I've ever had. And you can get the fish and chips either breaded or grilled!
Barbara L — Google review
Visited on a warm August Sunday and enjoyed one of the best fish & chips and salt and pepper squid we’ve ever had—well-cooked, not greasy, with generous serving of chips. Service was quick and friendly, toilets clean. Great wine list with alcohol-free beer options. Family-friendly with stunning views over the harbour and Bass Rock. Popular spot—reservations recommended!

Beautiful spot for a warm delicious meal. Had the chowder and tea. They've built a beautiful shelter over what I believe was originally a Bothy. Beautiful views.

Great place and will definitely go back. Great value and the food was really really good. The seafood chowder was special and the lobster and crab brioche roll looked fantastic but I went for the squid. Highly recommend the restaurant and North Berwick

Fantastic restaurant right on the sea front. I had the seafood salad starter, superb and the fish burger which is a small fillet of fish in a bun with their lovely double dipped chips. Well worth a visit.
John S — Google review
Yummy gluten free fish and chips, they said most things can be done gf. Chips really crispy. Vegan burger available which my partner liked.
James B — Google review
It's very unusual for us to find somewhere that does gluten and lactose free, a vegetarian option and is dog friendly but The Rocketeer ticked all the boxes. My husband had the gluten free fish which he said was delicious. I had the veggie burger which was good and my daughter had the kids cheese burger. The staff were friendly and gave Benji lots of attention. Our daughter is autistic and although over 12, it was no hassle for her to eat from the kids menu. The cans of juice were very reasonably priced. We are glad to have found somewhere so good and will be back the next time we visit North Berwick

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
After a long day of exploring, sometimes the best way to unwind is with a comforting meal. That’s exactly what I did when I opted for takeaway fish and chips from the renowned North Berwick Fry. Enjoying my feast on the balcony while watching the sun dip below Fidra and Bass Rock was pure bliss! This charming seaside spot isn’t just about stunning views; it also boasts friendly staff and a cozy dine-in experience that makes you feel right at home.
Really well made Haddock, lightly battered and deep fried. Decent chips.
Paulo R — Google review
Noteworthy because of high prices and sub-par food. The chips were fine - average chip shop chips - but the fish was smallish and greasy. Very poor value for £12:50 and to put the boot in the tiny bottles of ketchup were £3.70.
Paul K — Google review
Food was good, although there were a couple of bits of skin on the fish which i didnt like but thats just my personal opinion. Staff were nice and friendly. Atmosphere was a bit awkward as we were the only ones there but we shouldve came at a better time so thats our fault not the place’s. Overall really nice place, would recommend ☺️👍
Thalia — Google review
Fish and chips..takeaway. Freshly prepared in golden thin tempura. Hot and extremely good. We ate sitting on a bench by the sea. I recommend ! A very nice, smiling salesman (probably the owner of the place). We will definitely come back whenever we come there.
Naveri V — Google review
Ordered two fish and chips last night, good portion, fish was fresh and extremely tasty and the chips were great too. Nice smiley service and the man that served us (the owner?) was generous with chippy sauce and salt. Great place!
Jack F — Google review
I ate here today and had a wonderful fish and chips supper. I got a delicious Coke for a drink. I think that maybe it was the owners who served me. They were great. I sat outside on one of the tables and watched people go by in this really friendly town. Next time I come to Scotland, I'll stay in this town. Bring the kids...
Miles W — Google review
Our go to eatery when visiting the lovely North Berwick. We have used the North Berwick fry for the past 30+ years and will continue to do so. The owner still remembers us even if we haven't visited for a year. Always tasty always hot, can't beat it. My kids look forward to their chippy as it's better than chippy's at home.
Fiona S — Google review
Not a bad place to go. The food was pretty average at best nothing to special(a little pricey) but the manager was really friendly. You could tell he loved talking to people which made it really. You can tell he loves what he's does so I got a lot of respect for that. The only big downside I would say is that the toilets were a bit grim and not that well kept. But the main food area was pretty clean tho. So overall I would give it a fair 6/10. I would give it more if it wasn't for the toilets.

In North Berwick, there are various dining options to suit different preferences and times of the day. Whether you're in the mood for traditional pub food at The Ship Inn or fine Italian dining at Osteria, there's something for everyone. Many establishments offer vegan-friendly options, separate vegan menus like The Herringbone, as well as coffee and brunch choices. If you're looking for locally-caught fish with chips and great customer service, The Ship Inn is a top choice.
The pub you hope to find in a quiet seaside village! Dog friendly, never too busy but good atmosphere and friendly staff. Last orders for food were at 8pm but so worth it. Burger and fish was good quality and cooked well. TVs for any sports too.

Went for fish and chips on the recommendation of a friend and wow, I couldn't rate it highly enough. Genuinely friendly staff, great surroundings and the fish......fresh as anything, flaked to perfection- and the size of a whale. What else could you want. 😁 It went a treat with a crisp and perfectly chilled sav blanc. Recommend 100%.

Excellent pub. Friendly staff, menu not huge but good choices. Portions good and very well cooked and presented. Great range of beers including Staropramen on draught 😁. Good music choices playing quietly.

Been here twice now, and the service and staff are really lovely. Even when it was exceptionally busy during Fringe by the Sea, and on a Saturday night, the service was prompt and friendly. Food is good, usual pub fare, with some interesting dishes on the menu also. My husbands fish and chips was absolutely huge, and the batter was superb. Good selection of beers on draught, and decent house wines too. Previously had the olive and feta potato cakes which were delicious also. Highly recommend when in North Berwick.

Big, beautiful, clean beach. Public toilets. I visited later in the day so can't comment on parking, the car park shuts at 10pm. Lovely big playground for kids in the woods (a short walk from the beach closer to the car park). The views on the beach are stunning. Very dramatic with the island in the background.

Yellowcraig Beach - North Berwick Fabulous beach - clean and so unspoilt. With sand dunes. Beautiful views over the sea to little islands. Great for families as grassed parking is nearby (lots if locals were having picnics and simply playing) and just a few yards to the sand dunes. Clean toilets and even a refreshment van nearby. Not commercialised. Whilst we were there the Household Cavalry brought their horses along for exercise on their way from Edinburgh back to London - that’s how beautiful the beach is.
Jan F — Google review
Stunning views and golden sands. Fantastic when the weather is nice. Saturday mornings are crowded and in general there are too many dogs around running loose for my liking. Fortunately it's a big enough beach! Wild camping with a fire permitted but do this responsibly.
Kenny B — Google review
A lovely beach for a walk or even a spot of camping. You can have a fire as long as it isn't in the grassy bits. Just watch out for the parking though; East Lothian Council don't like people parking overnight, so you'll likely get a ticket if you do. Best to park about a mile away in the small village and walk to the beach.

We've been coming to North Berwick for quite a while and wanted to try this restaurant, but sadly haven't been able too as we have a dog. So we decided to try their takeaway service and so glad we did. Rang and placed an order and they said it would take about 40mins. Ordered a margherita pizza, a calzone, a cheese focaccia and a portion of chips. Arrived 5mins early and food was ready right on time. First thing that struck me was there was a special box just for the calzone! Now I've had a lot of takeaway calzones over the years and this is the first time I've had one come in a different style of pizza box. It was much taller so that it wasn't squished. The food was excellent. Everything tasted so fresh and full of flavour. The calzone was chicken and ham, with a pot of tomato/basil sauce on the side.the garlic and cheese focaccia was epic and the margherita was just great. I'm just gutted I didn't order a tiramisu. Will certainly be back very soon. Thanks

We were visiting NB and decided to try and visit Bella Italia for dinner. We turned up without a booking, but luckily they had space for us. The team are really friendly and welcoming. Quick and good service from everyone who engaged with us and they were really good with our two kids. We asked for paper for colouring in. Despite this not being something they usually do, they quickly produced a few sheets of paper and a variation of pens and pencils. The service was quick and food all served nice and hot. The food overall was good and kids loved that they could get ice cream. My Calzone was nice, but I did have to pick out a fair few bits of meat / chicken which were either fatty chicken or small bones. Thanks to the team and we would definitely recommend the restaurant for families with kids and young people.

We come here about 2 or three times a year, have done for almost a decade, a must visit when in North Berwick. We have NEVER experienced a drop in the service or food, whether quiet or busy. Staff are friendly, great with kids, super efficient, and the food is always top notch. When we visited, it was very busy, we had booked a table for 7, but one of our party had to leave for an emergency. We didn't want to start without her so were a bit uncomfortable about not ordering and taking up a table....not a problem, the staff served us drinks and literally didn't not bother us until our last person came back. I have never experienced a restaurant that would do this for you. This place is so family friendly and nothing is a problem. An absolute must.

Italian restaurant
Nestled in the charming seaside town of North Berwick, Cucina Amore is a delightful family-owned Italian restaurant that has been serving up mouthwatering dishes since 2013. This modern eatery offers a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests can indulge in classic Italian favorites like spaghetti carbonara, calzone, and calamari. The welcoming staff adds to the experience, making it an ideal spot for families and visitors alike.
My wife and I had dinner here and it was lush. Last time I had an Italian meal like this we were in Bardolino. My wife had the Haggis Arancini which was a special and I had the Calamari fritti from the starters to kick off. I had a taste of the arancini which was really nice, but the Calamari was exceptionally good. Sometime Calamari can lose it's flavour as you chew but not this dish. Really good. For my main I had the Venison Papardelle from the specials and it was delicious. A perfectly balanced Venison ragù and melt in the mouth pasta. For dessert I had the tiramisù which was lovely. My wife had the panacotta. It was all washed down with a very nice pinot grigio and the whole meal was very reasonable, price wise. Would definitely recommend Cucina Amore.

Just had a lovely meal in here. Great tastes and very attentive service. The food was slightly overseasoned but the meats cooked to perfection. Surprised it was so quiet on a Bank holiday Monday. We will return!

We ate here a while ago to celebrate my parents 60th Wedding anniversary. It was the first time in 8years we had all been together as a family. Had this not been the case I would have walked out within 5mins. The female owner was possibly the rudest restaurant owner I have ever met. She should be ashamed of herself and find alternative employment, as hospitality is clearly not her forte. Can’t discourage people enough to avoid eating here.

We make a point of going to Cucina Amore as our special holiday meal everytime we are in North Berwick. Emilia and her team are always so friendly and welcoming. The food is beautiful and the atmosphere is lovely. We will be back soon. 😁❤️

Do not recommend this place if you have kids. Showed up for lunch with my toddler, place was empty and female owner tried to send us away saying they were very busy (even though there was hardly anyone), had no kids menu and no baby changing facilities. We said it was ok so she reluctantly gave us a table. I would have left if it wasn’t busy everywhere else plus my toddler was hungry and loves pasta. But the owner made me and my baby feel very unwelcome. The pasta was ok, although a very small portion despite ordering the “main” size.

Highly recommended 🌠for an amazing homemade kitchen and reasonable prices! One of a very few that serves really amazing and Italian food! I am a fan of Italian cuisine and I have tried many of them in Edinburgh and around, this is the Winner! 🌠 Everything was freshly prepared and my friend enjoyed homemade tiramisu. Good atmosphere and music choice too. Plenty of space to bring your kids too. All the best for more happy customers! We will be definitely back!

The Marine North Berwick is a sophisticated hotel housed in a historic Victorian building. The upscale restaurant, The Lawn, offers stunning coastal views and a seasonal menu featuring the finest ingredients from East Lothian. The hotel's location provides easy access to two beautiful beaches: West Beach and Milsey Bay, which is ideal for families with its safe water pool.
Lovely hotel to stay at the Marine. Lovely staff. Huge car park if you are driving. Great breakfast. We were in North Berwick for a wedding so not much time for anything else. Lovely views across the Fort. Only thing negative was the bathroom was quite small but then you don't go for the bathroom !!

Relaxation Spa and Afternoon Tea Day On arrival reception directed me to the spa reception staff all very helpful, showed round all the facilities. I was booked in for a massage, it was amazing!!!! Cheryl the massage therapist was brilliant highly recommend! Facilities - Thermal Suite - Sauna Rooms, Steam Rooms, Pool, Jacuzzi, Massage Showers. The Afternoon Tea consisted of an assortment of savoury, scones and cakes and I had several latte's as well, all presented on a stand with grapes and strawberries included, the staff in the Lawn Bar were very attentive. Views of the golf course and Bass Rock, i had a lovely day and would certainly recommend well worth a visit.

Whilst staying in North Berwick we visited The Marine hotel bar for drinks and a meal. The staff were very friendly and well trained. Service was fantastic. The cocktails were yummy and the view from our seating area was stunning. The food was beautifully presented and very well cooked. The staff were so attentive I can’t praise them highly enough. Casey needs a special mention!

Fantastic views of the sea and islands from our room. Very comfortable, but does feel dated and in need of a refresh. Excellent staff but would have personally preferred it to be more informal and relaxed.
Mathew S — Google review
The Marine has potential to be a great hotel. Its grand, the spa is excellent and the sea views are incredible. Unfortunately, it isn't a great hotel. Our room wasn't ready and we waited in the lobby for 20 minutes. The breakfast service was dreadful with long waits to order and nothing restocked at the buffet. If they can improve these service aspects they could be great but a luxury hotel should not give reasons to complain about service issues.

Room was basic. Wallpaper horrific, made it claustrophobic. Room wasn't serviced daily, except when I was having a nap, a gentleman walked i to my room and switched the light on. Not sure what he wanted but I was a bit shaken. !! Food on first night. I had chicken supreme which was tasteless. My husband almost had his croissant snat he'd from him at breakfast. Waiter then lifted gmhus ham and put it back on his plate with his fingers. !!! Spa was terrific. As was service from all staff. The bar is beautifully renovated as is lounge. But on the whole not sure I would come back.
