Calella is a popular seaside town on the Costa del Maresme, known for its long sandy beaches, clear waters and well-equipped promenade. The compact old town offers pedestrian streets, local shops and traditional cafés alongside more contemporary bars and nightlife. Landmarks such as the Calella Lighthouse and nearby coastal viewpoints give wide Mediterranean panoramas and easy access to coastal walking routes. Its regular train connections to Barcelona also make it a convenient base for combining beach time with city sightseeing.
With favorites like Lighthouse Calella, EL HOGAR GALLEGO, and Monumento a Dunant, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Neska Polita Vinoteca and Luna Gaucha so you can get the best taste of Calella while you’re here. Lighthouse Calella is a significant symbol of the town, situated on a cliff top with a rich history dating back to defensive tower days. The lighthouse offers interactive maritime exhibits and stunning views, especially at sunset. Visitors can explore the area for free or take a paid tour inside the lighthouse. It's accessible by foot from Calella, offering picturesque coastal views along the way.
Lovely view, museum was open but the lighthouse was closee, wasn't able to go up to the top.

We didn’t pay to enter the museum. We wandered around the exterior. Very nice views and good exercise walking to the lighthouse.

Not too bad a walk up there. Place was closed as we knew. Nice views across calella although through or over a fence
Chris — Google review
Free entrance, you only have to pay if you want on top of the lighthouse. We were there in the evening and had an amazing view of Calella and the beach. It’s just dangerous to walk up there beach you have to cross a dangerous street. All in all it was nice just a little small.
Maja — Google review
A very beautiful spot to enjoy sunset, and a great view on the city. Not the most user-friendly route to get there, though, but still worth it.

(Translated by Google) The cry Located in Calella de Mar. The Maresme of Barcelona. A local legend from the first half of the 20th century. XX talks about the Llopa de Calella. This true story begins when a peasant from the town, Francesc Coll, known as Quico from the Urrel·li house, tells one afternoon in the town tavern that he has seen a wolf wandering through his lands. Alarmed, the inhabitants of Calella decided to organize a raid to capture him and be able to live in peace. Once the beast was dead, and when the whole town was talking about it, a very distraught woman who lived in a hamlet between Sant Pol and Calella appeared. He was looking for his German shepherd dog who had recently been lost. The feared wolf turned out to be Mrs. Montaner's dog who had been killed for her appearance and the ignorance of the people. This is how this dog became part of the legend and history of Calella. (Original) La llopa.

The Neska Polita Vinoteca, a Basque cuisine eatery, boasts attractive and spacious premises. The staff is friendly, while the owner is affable and dedicated. The menu features delectable dishes such as the cod omelette, esqueixada, mussels, stuffed squid, and octopus. The service is exceptional and highly recommended for a visit. Prices may be slightly steep for the portion sizes but experiencing this restaurant at least twice is advised to form an unbiased judgment.
Amazing food, highly recommend an octopus. Staff is very helpfull and charming, one of the reason why I have visited this place 4 times during my stay.
Artūras K — Google review
I was very upset by the owner’s response to my husband’s comment. If the kitchen closes at 3:00 PM, then why does Google and the sign on your door state opening hours as 1:00–5:00 PM? In that case, what exactly does your establishment operate as between 3:00 and 5:00? Just a terrace where guests get scolded for sitting down? Perhaps the kitchen hours are mentioned somewhere in fine print, but like my husband, I was certain that you were open until 5:00 PM, based on the information on Google and on your door. If that’s not the case, then you should correct the information so as not to mislead your guests. We spent several minutes looking through the menu by the entrance, yet no one approached us. The terrace was not blocked off. I don’t think sitting at an open, unblocked table can be considered rude. At least in other places we have never experienced such a hostile reaction. It’s unfortunate that you assume any guest arriving after the kitchen closes expects your staff to work overtime. I noticed other reviews describing similar situations. As customers, we cannot be expected to know your internal rules and schedules—it would be enough to explain it politely and update the posted information. Also, if you believe sitting at a table when the kitchen is closed is inappropriate, then you should close the terrace instead of blaming your guests. Sadly, your rudeness spoiled our mood and experience. Upd.: unfortunately, the owner’s reply contains personal attacks, xenophobic remarks, and unnecessary comments about “education,” which only highlights the customer service style of this establishment. Dear Irene, sitting down at a terrace table does not provoke aggression in my country, in any other country I have visited, nor in the neighboring restaurants around you. I sincerely wish you the same level of service on your vacation as the one you showed us. All the best.
Anastasiya K — Google review
We are from the USA and met some people across the street that recommended we have dinner at this restaurant. It was perfect. Everything was more than delicious, the atmosphere, the food, the service… The owner really is passionate about what she is doing and she is doing it. Well! She made sure we had an experience that we would not forget and we are grateful.

On the door of the restaurant the plate with working hours is 11:00-17:00. We came at 15:00 and were literally shown the door in a very rude manner by the waitress on 20.08.25. This is the service you gonna get there I guess. Upd. I don't speak Spanish but based on what I see in a translated version of the owner's reply, they say we were rude enough to enter the restaurant during the WORKING HOURS. Well, I'll tell you how it was. I and my wife came up to the front door, saw that restaurant is open until 17:00 and were about to get seated at the table. (That's probably considered rude, huh?) Irritated waitress or owner or whoever it was ran out of the restaurant, without greeting, asking "how may I help?" I asked if the restaurant was working. She answered "yes, I am working here" pretending she doesn't understand what I am asking about (like what? I didn't ask whether you work here or not) I rephrased whether the restaurant was open, she answered "kitchen is closed and will open at 20:00" and left. No goodbyes no nothing. We thanked her and left. And now they are telling we were rude. Listen, if your restaurant is closed you should make it explicit for visitors and not put plates that it's open until 17:00. Even if there is a misunderstanding you can always explain normally and with respect but you don't seem to know what respectful attitude is. Adios.

Uruguayan restaurant
I recently had an exceptional experience at Luna Gaucha, an Uruguayan restaurant. The service was outstanding and the red wine was exquisite. I opted for lamb ribs but regretted not choosing steak, as the ribs lacked sufficient meat. However, the waiter kindly offered a variety of delectable desserts to make up for it. The overall ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant and I would definitely visit again in the future.
Wonderful evening at this fabulous restaurant, delicious food & the best service, very attentive & also hilarious. Very reasonable prices, €30 per person for 2 courses with drinks & sides of bread/olives & shots to finish. Highly recommend 👌

We were with a big group and first they wanted to place us close to the street. It was very windy and we didn't liked that, so the manager or boss of this place came and gave us another place to sit which was very nice. Food was good. Sadly I didn't made any pictures, only of the very nice cheese cake which was AMAZING! I would recommend taking that, but it's a highly dessert so it's possible it's not there anymore haha.

What an incredible dining experience! Luna Gaucha offers an authentic and flavorful journey through Uruguayan cuisine, and every dish we tried was outstanding. We started with the Ensalada Nimo, which was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced – a refreshing way to begin the meal. The parrillada was the star of the show. Filled with beautifully grilled meats, full of smoky flavor and cooked to perfection. Every bite was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. To finish, we shared the tarta de dulce de leche, and it was nothing short of heavenly. Rich, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. The atmosphere at Luna Gaucha is warm and welcoming, with a unique and thoughtfully designed décor that reflects both tradition and personality. It’s a family-run restaurant, and you can feel the love in every detail. The owner is extremely kind and humble, and it’s clear he puts his heart and soul into every aspect of the experience. His passion for sharing Uruguayan culture and cuisine truly shines through. Highly recommend!!!

Old establishment, I keep coming here for 30 years. Food stills very delicious and the service is good, I got to eat raos fish event i think it was as a bit early on the season it was very tasty. Fuet was a bit too dry, all the rest was very nice. Service was also good, definitely coming back whenever I am in town again.

We visited here as our first meal of the Holliday. While it wasn’t bad, there are definitely other places that I would recommend more. It started off very well with a lovely jug of sangria sat outside in the sun and the staff were all very lovely and inviting. We then had fried calamari which were nice, however I had one full of sand which completely put me off and chicken croquettes which were much better. They had a beautiful flavour and were crispy on the outside. We then ordered Patatas Bravas, Beef Ribs and Whitebait. The Bravas were lovely and crispy, however, due to my partner feeling ill (nothing to do with our restaurant experience) the Whitebait was not tried. I did however try the beef ribs, something I have never had before. While the flavour was lovely and the portion size was good, I did find them very chewy and not very pleasant. This being said I have never tried beef ribs before so maybe this is how they are supposed to be. As I say we may have just not had the best experience as every time we walk past it always seems very busy with both locals and tourists.

Dined here on our first day visiting Calella. Not the most friendly service I've ever had. The food was ok to be fair. Came back a second time and we just sat there with our invisible man suits on for ages. I have nothing but praise for EL HOGAR GALLEGO, a seafood restaurant that I am delighted to have discovered. The cuisine is incredibly fresh and delicious, with an impressive variety of dishes on offer. The service is exceptional, as the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend trying their delectable oysters, anchovies, octopus, seafood soup, monkfish stew (main), and monkfish fillet (main).
I always like its authentic interior design and their friendly service. There is a spectacular seafood refrigerator and an aquarium for lobsters. They are actually quite entertaining. Today, we had octopus and cured ham as starters. It was the best octopus I had and the ham was excellent. Such umami ! Their pan tomate was done with coca bread which makes different. Their house wine was good. The rice meal was very tasty. As all its seafood was already peeled off in advance, it was so easy to eat. Galician style cake, cheese and quince jam were also satisfying. It’s the place where we can come back again and again. No disappointment.

Service was phenomenal. As tourists, we found this place through online search and references in the Michelin guide. We have never experienced seafood life this. It’s fresh, as they roll out the market catch on a cart. Some truly unique experience. It’s a traditional experience as the cooking is done in the kitchen but they plate and display on a cart next to your table. They spoke English which is impressive when discussing the detailed differences between the seafood and the cooking methods. Further, the price is reasonable. Would come here again! Would recommend trying to book / reserve a table via WhatsApp.

The seafood was unbelievably fresh and prepared with such care and expertise that every dish truly stood out. The pink prawn carpaccio was delicate and flavorful, the wild turbot was cooked to perfection, and the steak tartare prepared table-side was a real highlight. Service matched the food — our waiter Andrew was exceptionally knowledgeable, especially when it came to recommending local wines that paired beautifully with each course. The whole experience felt thoughtful, authentic, and memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy Galician cuisine at its best!

I couldn't speak more highly of this restaurant and I'm so glad we found it. The food here is so fresh, so tasty. The service was excellent and they made a real effort with us. We ate quite a lot here and I recommend all of the following items: oysters, anchovies, octopus, seafood soup, monkfish stew (main) and the monkfish fillet (main). I saw a lot of the other dishes that other customers are and it all looked great. We had a Monsant wine here also which really complimented the food. This restaurant is an absolute must if you are in the region. Couldn't speak higher of the quality of the food and service. Recommended.

This place is a gem … thankfully off the tourist track as it is rather high-end and Michelin watched. It is the best seafood place you can find in that region. And we agree. You need to book well ahead as the few tables are snitched fast by predominantly locals and Spanish guests. The superb classic service comes with white table linen, immaculate spice by the table, best-in-Class fish service and meets just the best produce you find. We had a great selection - on the house olives and minced Pulpo, followed by couple of glades cava, the famous Polpo a la Gallega - so soft and fresh never seen before. The Pulperia in Barcelona is already great but this was from heaven …. We then had Tuna Tartare, monkfish grilled and fried calamari to end with a great almond cake and liquor …. Expect for that around 130€ and the need to book a table in advance. They are closed Sunday evening and Monday.

The personel took time to explain to us the history of the resto, recommendations, show us 3 beautiful fish ( don’t hesitate to ask the price to compare to the menu ) . We finally order the st pierre , the cuisine was not “whao” but the quality of the ingredients were there. The cava wines with the foods were all excellent choices. They respond to all our questions and demands beautifully. Thank u a lot to the waiter we ‘ve had (who usually the sommelier, mr Andreas) !
