Beach
Nestled in the stunning Tuscan archipelago, Cannelle Beach on the enchanting island of Giglio is a true gem for nature lovers and beach enthusiasts alike. With its fine white granite sand and crystal-clear waters, this picturesque spot invites visitors to unwind and soak up the sun. The island itself boasts a charming population of just over 1,400 residents, creating an intimate atmosphere that enhances your experience.
Beautiful clear, turquoise water where many boats stop. It looked like you need to pay to park there and the road in is quite narrow. We didn’t have time to park and explore the beach, but it looks very pretty and I would like to stop there next time.
ESB N — Google review
This beach is something amazing. Clear and crystal water good for snorkeling. Its divided into paying area with sunbeds and non-paying without. I think you can park there not sure about the price. Toilets and changing rooms were free and shower was 1€ 2 minutes. There's also a restaurant there if you are hungry. I would say this was something amazing.
Peter — Google review
"Absolutely stunning! 🌞 The beach is pristine with golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Perfect spot for relaxation, fun, and breathtaking sunsets. Highly recommended for a perfect getaway!"
Berkay C — Google review
Wonderful beach located next to Cala Smeraldo with crystal clear water. One of the best seas I've seen.
David C — Google review
Clean water and amazing view. there’re some jellyfishes.
Mingee L — Google review
Beatiful beach, also good for snorkeling
Cezary M — Google review
Small beach 15 minutes walk from the port. White sand and very clear water. Half of the beach is public while the second half is taken by a small bathhouse where you can rent umbrella and recliner (quite expensive). There is a small restaurant next to the beach serving pizzas and fish dishes and some coin operated showers for public use. Overall the place is great and highly recommended but cen get quite crowded during weekends and peak season.
Emilio M — Google review
beautiful place to spend your time. During the high season very very full of people.. good the restaurant closed to the beach, few dishes, simple and fresh ingredients.. try

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Spiaggia delle Caldane is a small, tranquil sandy beach located on the east coast of Giglio Island. Accessible only by foot or sea, it offers a secluded and peaceful atmosphere surrounded by greenery. The beach is known for its crystal-clear waters and is sheltered from the wind, providing an intense feeling of warmth, which inspired its name. Visitors can reach the beach via a 40-minute walk from Spiaggia delle Cannelle or by boat.
Beautiful simple hike from Giglio Porto (~35 minutes), and outstanding views. Sand is slightly more rocky than Cannelle beach, but less crowded. Still has good amenities, etc. Can also take a water taxi there or back.
Evan T — Google review
Very nice and remote beach. You will find beds easily for 5 euros each for the whole day. Plus you can borrow swimming equipment for free and the see is very clear
Boris K — Google review
A beautiful serene and secluded small sandy beach with spiaggia libera and the friendliest family establishment on Giglio. You can hike here (40 minutes from Porto), but it's recommended to take the Ancora Giglio boat shuttle. Get your ticket in the port and book your umbrella and sun loungers before you leave. Shuttle leaves about every half an hour but not during lunch. The shuttle is not only convenient but an experience in itself. The establishment sell some drinks and snacks and offers a lunch service with tasty food brought hot from Porto. There are no toilets, but you can take a breathtaking 20 min walk to le Canelle for that. Plan accordingly!

Lovely, but stuffed with people. All paid sunbeds have already been reserved even around 10.00.

Cala dello Smeraldo is a stunning rocky cove located near Cannelle, south of Giglio Porto. Its name comes from the clarity of its waters, and it can be easily reached from the road via a simple path. The journey to this paradise corner is relatively short, about 20 minutes from the port if you take your time. However, accessing the cove can be challenging as there are steep steps cut into the rocks and no sandy beach, only rocks.

(Translated by Google) Splendid cove along the road to reach the most popular Cala delle Cannelle about fifteen minutes from the town. The beach is rocky with little shelter from the sun ☀️ but the water is worthy of the name the inlet boasts. The descent to access it, although short, is impervious so the place is not suitable for families with small children or people with mobility problems. Reservations are essential, as they're often fully booked. (Original) Uno dei miei ristoranti preferiti. (Translated by Google) Highly recommended restaurant. The young woman working in the dining room was very kind and helpful from the start, and the food was truly excellent. The pasta portions are generous, the appetizers excellent (especially the octopus), and the desserts are also very good. The prices are in line with the rest of the island, and the quality is truly top-notch. I recommend booking well in advance because there aren't many seats and it's often packed. The only minor drawback is that it gets a little warm outside after a while, but it's not bothersome. (Original) Ristorante super consigliato.

All this was complemented by the very welcoming service from the waitress. It’s the only place near the beach so me and my boyfriend went to have lunch. But the clerk kept saying “arrivo”. He said he had to check if there’s any free table but he didn’t check at all so we had to ask 3times and to another female clerks we asked again. I saw more than half were empty tables at that moment. After waiting 20minutes standing, they didn’t even give any answer so we just bought Piadina to take away. And unfortunately... that tasted nothing. That was something just to ingest.

We visited Arenella beach in July. It is very rocky with only a small area to access the sea safely. There is a small cafe which we found to be expensive. They have one toilet at the rear which was dirty and for which a charge of 50 cents is made. This is the only toilet on the beach. Consequently people use the sea. We contracted a stomach bug within 24 hours of swimming here, symptoms of which persisted for 2 weeks.

Archaeological museum
Parco Archeologico Cote Ciombella is a must-visit for history enthusiasts on Giglio Island. Located near Le Porte, not far from Giglio Castello, this megalithic site offers a glimpse into ancient architecture with its archaic rocks and domes of different sizes. The presence of enormous boulders with man-made basins adds to the mystical atmosphere reminiscent of druidic experiences in other parts of the world.
We stopped briefly while on our way to Poggio della Pagana. This place is definitely interesting, but we only spent 5-10 minutes to check it out :)

(Translated by Google) Beautiful place with the presence of enormous boulders into which basins were made by man as in the experience of druids in other parts of the world. Nearby there is the possibility of seeing along the road, the stone of the Madonnina which is in an upright position and it is not known how it remains in that position. Too bad because the path is covered in brambles (Original) Bellissimo posto con la presenza di enormi massi a cui sono stati fatti dall'uomo dei catini come nell'esperienza dei druidi in altre parti della mondo. (Translated by Google) Fascinating, beautiful and raw island. I walked along the paths that go up from Campese to Castello, reaching the archaeological site and back, at every step I couldn't help but imagine the effort of the original people in shaping this land to be able to earn a living from it, from the paths carved out of the granite to the terraced slopes, all beautiful, enchanting, if it weren't for the fact that even here the people dirty and leave waste that isn't collected, I also noticed numerous shells of hunting cartridges, I'm not against hunting and I don't give morals, but I don't there is nothing needed in everyone doing our small part; preserve these oases, they are our future, our history and above all your subsistence. Visit these places, it's worth it. (Original) Isola affascinante, bellissima e cruda. (Translated by Google) Unfortunately compared to last year they have removed a nice explanatory sign, the whole area is invaded by weeds thistles and nettles which make it impossible to approach the sites, further along the path there is a small sign with Dolmen written which gets lost in the nothing, except then surprisingly finding it on the descent through the spouts, without the slightest explanation of care, the mayor's care of these archaeological sites is truly disappointing.

Awesome pizza shop in the castle. Staff are friendly, chirpy and a good sense of humour, pizza is great, and their wine is also awesome. Prices are very reasonable and there is indoor and outdoor seating. Give it a try! 😎

I must correct my first note; yesterday we had a second dinner this week at this restaurant ; one main course has come almost 30 min before the others - but was not tragic; the pizza was again very good ; the boss has like the first time very annoyed that you must order within the first minute drinks and food.... all not tragic ; we are on vacation and in the restaurant is busy; But - after the meal we still ordered wine; my children could not order dessert due to us was told in a very rude way that we should leave- the table is still needed; ..... we didn’t drink the wine-. but of course we paid it; Conclusion - good pizza, quaint style ...unfriendly ( because we are guests for just one day)

After coming to this restaurant every year, I can say that it is by far my favorite one. The warm environment of eating on the streets of a castle combined with the great food make this restaurant a must if you are visiting Giglio. The staff is helpful and very energetic, doing their upmost to make your dinner smooth and enjoyable. So if you are visiting the island of Giglio, then you MUST try pizzeria Giglio.

L'acciuga Catering and Home Cooking is a delightful gem on Giglio Island, where the essence of Italian summer comes alive. Picture yourself enjoying leisurely seaside lunches at Arenella or Cannelle, with your feet in the sand and laughter echoing around you. After a refreshing swim, indulge in cards and Coca Cola while soaking up the sun's rays. As dusk approaches, L'acciuga transforms into an inviting spot for aperitivo, offering stunning views of boats gently swaying in the harbor.

A colorful embrace of houses painted with the colors of spring and summer, and it is already another life… if it were not for the overwhelming and cheerful welcome of the GIGLIESI, proud smiling and stubborn inhabitants of this enchanted place, and also Franca, L’AMMIRAGLIO DELL’ACCIUGA… Those who travel a lot realize from the thousand details and particulars that those who conceived the restaurant L’ACCIUGA, took inspiration from very far away like HAWAII. Small French-style tables with floral tablecloths and unexpected rugs that welcome the feet of those who need to take off their slippers or shoes. The cocktails are masterfully prepared (if your favorite is not on the menu they will do it anyway and it will be excellent) But Franca is not alone, in the engine rooms there is her son (a sincere, polite but determined chef who prepares the dishes with true passion) So what are you waiting for?

We were welcomed and pampered with the utmost care by Mrs Franca and her staff in a characteristic environment whose mood I appreciated, from the soft light to the table setting, I ate spaghetti with clams and bottarga which were exquisite to say the least, which I will forget hardly, with FRESH clams. I would have tried everything on the menu! Abundant portions, excellent quality raw materials, everything prepared with the utmost care, not to mention the goodness of the tiramisu! Very honest prices for location, service and quality. We spent an unforgettable end-of-holiday evening with our friends. What an evening we had here! Giglio Castello must be one of Italy's most beautiful villages. Amazing views from the little balcony. The restaurant is in the Michelin guide books, so this gives you a hint to the quality. Excellent varied menu, with seafood, beef, pastas all of the highest quality. The Tagliata was great, as was my wife's Tuna dish. Our friend had the Tagliolini Granseola, and she declared that as terrific. Quality wines, and attentive waiting staff. Our evening was punctuated by an incredible storm, with sheet lightning, then thunder, and finally torrential rain that blew in from the balcony. Windows had to be secured, and the balcony door closed. We then got drenched on our walk back to the bus stop! Highly recommended for an unforgettable dining experience!
