Sighișoara is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval citadels, with cobbled streets, colorful townhouses and intact defensive walls that are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is also known as the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, adding an extra layer of historical intrigue. Festivals, traditional crafts and local Transylvanian cuisine round out the experience for visitors.
With favorites like Burg Hostel, Biserica din Deal, and "The Holy Trinity" Church, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like La Piazzetta and Taverna Romaneasca so you can get the best taste of Sighisoara while you’re here. The Clock Tower, a 14th-century iconic landmark in Sighisoara, served as the main gate to the city's citadel and controlled the entrance to the half-mile-long defensive wall. It stored the town's treasures and is part of a collection of towers that fence the citadel. The tower stands near other notable structures like The House of Vlad Dracula and The Venetian House.
The Clock Tower is a very impressive structure of Sighișoara. Highly worth get there (it’s not that hard) and take a nice and easy tour. You can also climb to the Tower (we didn’t). While we were visiting, they had already prepare for Halloween, and it was so beautiful.
Nissim C — Google review
There's a small museum scattered through each level of the tower as you make your way to top the panoramic viewing platform. The platform gives you an unimpeded 360° view of the city. There's not a lot other than that. As well as the fact that nothing is translated through the museum, making it much harder to take an interest in the few items available for viewing. Despite what the signs say, the cost is 20lei to enter. I was in and out in less than 30 min.
Kyra — Google review
Student tickets for 5 lei is incredibly cheap, and the view was beautiful! Really neat seeing the clock mechanism and some historical artifacts on the way up. It got a bit tight in some places going up as people were also descending the same stairs, just watch your step.
Lia P — Google review
The Clock Tower is one of the only fully-visitable towers of the citadel. It's staircase and floors have been transformed into a small museum that houses exhibits from the medieval history of Sighișoara. The clock itself is still functioning and the bell sounds every 15 minutes.
Liviu-Cristian M — Google review
The castle district is huge and worth taking the time for long walks. Amazing views, buildings and architectural heritage. Spend af least a day here.
Levente C — Google review
Very beautiful landmark. Walking alongside this beautiful tower is a sight to behold. You can go up to get a great view of the city for really cheap.
Renata H — Google review
The day I visited the Clock Tower, the museum was closed. The architecture looked unique and stunning. Wherever you walked in the town, the tower was partially visible.

It is beautiful tower and overall medieval town with narrow streets and Dracula house as well as school, church and cemeteries uphill make a unique ambience

Restaurant
Vlad Dracul Restaurant, located in the historic Casa Vlad Dracul, is a must-visit for tourists eager to experience the birthplace of Vlad Dracula. Despite its fame, the restaurant offers high-quality traditional Romanian dishes that satisfy visitors' cravings. From tomato soup with croutons to beef goulash and cabbage rolls with minced meat, the menu showcases a wide variety of authentic flavors.
Surely touristic place. Having been for a weekend in Sighisoara couldn't have miss it. Reading so-so reviews didn't expect much from a good in the restaurant. But we were positively surprised. The goulash we ordered was very tasty. Definitely recommended. On the downside - "Dracula room" upstairs for an extra 15 lei/person is not worth it. Better not to go there, nothing to miss.
Andrew O — Google review
Delicious is a small word, incapable to express the taste, the flavour and the aspect of the dishes... And the cherry on top was that we could also bring our little wiener dog with us. And even better, the service was impecabile!
Claudia K — Google review
I’m a big fan of Vlad Țepeș so of course I had to come and eat at his house the food was delicious and I bought a souvenir pound of coffee I still don’t know if I’ll drink it.
Esme — Google review
very good service, delicious food, good flavors and a magical atmosphere of the time
Sebastian M — Google review
Great food! Awesome location to visit! Worth the time. After vusuting many locations this was the obvious location to stop and eat. The beef snitzel and Hungarian potatoes was great, and the Dracula's kiss, and papanasi which it was two big like donut filled with cream, delicious!
Elizabeth G — Google review
Trip advisor says it shuts at 23:00, Google says that it shuts at 22:00, the sign on the entrance door says that it shuts at 22:00. I was very rudely refused service at 21:15. Hence, I did not spend any of my money here during my three nights in Sighisoara. I should have heeded the advice of the ‘Rough Guide to Romania’ which comments that the restaurant is, “tacky, and not particularly good”. I can add that it is also unfriendly and that the staff are rude and lack any customer service skills
Brian R — Google review
The food was excellent, very authentic, and well-priced considering it was served in the most touristy location in the city. The server was attentive (compared to most servers in Romania) and I would have eaten there again, but I wanted to try as many different restaurants as possible. I would highly recommend the goulash (pictured in my pics) and the outdoor seating area, even though it’s not as scenic as in inside dining room. They have a bar inside as well as a souvenir area. The “room where Dracula was born” is one floor above the restaurant, and it’s a must-see if you’re in the city.
Travis M — Google review
Good food and service. Supposably the birthed place of Vlad the impaler and surely his father's (Vlad Dracul) house. It has a nice upper floor prepared dracula style. Definitely a landmark in Sighisoara, and the fact that the food is good is a welcomed bonus.

The Ironsmiths' Tower

4.6
(415)
Historical landmark
The Ironsmiths' Tower, also known as Turnul Fierarilor, was originally built to protect the monastery church during sieges. It housed a variety of defensive weaponry such as lances, muskets, pistols, and arquebuses. The tower now features a museum showcasing authentic blacksmith tools and historical information displayed on large panels. Visitors can explore two levels of exhibits with information about Vlad Tepes and watch informative videos about the city's tourist attractions.
Beautiful, one of the many towers in town, this one is also visitable.
Ana S — Google review
I've been here before and it is quite nice but right now it's weirdly enough closed
Wouter L — Google review
One of the smaller towers within the medieval citadel of Sighișoara, the Ironsmiths' tower overlooks the city at the bottom of the hill. When we visited in July 2025 the tower was open to visitors and there was a small exhibition inside.
Liviu-Cristian M — Google review
We had a private party here, super cool. They waited for us with a glass of amazing sparkling wine. One of the best parties. Nice place for events.
Ioana P — Google review
Interesting museum and building. Shame that the staff seem to be permanently standing outside the door smoking. Doesn’t make a great welcoming impression.
Troy T — Google review
small but well displayed the only one of the 9 towers accessible besides the clock tower. the young ladies inside is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide
Dusty — Google review
Wonderfully arranged exhibit. Some iron pieces, as expected, as well as a lot of historical information displayed on large hanging panels. Downstairs, the focus is on Vlad Țepeș. More information panels and some wonderfully done videos that are also kid-friendly.
Maria C — Google review
Small, but nice. It has two levels, which contain good historical information. On the lower level there is a nice movie which displays the most important tourist attractions of the city and another movie about Vlad Tepes.

Located in the heart of Sighisoara Citadel, "The Bean" is a must-visit coffee shop that offers a delightful experience. The cozy atmosphere and delicious coffee make it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The friendly staff adds to the positive impression, and while the pricing is fair for specialty coffee, some visitors note that they had to request water with their order.
The place is beautiful and the coffee is AMAZING, the service is great and personalized. They also sell coffee from different countries and continents, the concept is very well worked. We loved it!

Very good coffee and well priced compared to other places. Desserts were very good even at the end of the day. Kept under a cloche so kept well. Barista was nice and really knows how to make a good cup of Java. Nice music as well as I’m sure this turns into a drinks bar in the afternoon / evening.

First I stopped just for a coffee to go, and the taste convinced me to return the next morning. This time, I also had a sandwich and enjoyed my coffee inside. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, the staff is really friendly and helpful, and the quality of the products is great. Stop by, you won't regret it!

Morning coffee or late coffee...you should come to Bean, if you are in Sighisoara! Great atmosphere, good pie and a very good coffee -you can stay inside or enjoy the coffee moments outside.. (plus: you can get a cup of filtered water for free :) )

A true gem, not commercialized, quiet and calm, the best sandwich I've had in Romania! The coffee is amazing and served correctly, fast and accurate service, calm music and close to parking.

I read on previous reviews that their chorizo sandwich was amazing and I'll have to double on that. amazing and fresh, the bread is the greatest thing ever. the coffee is really good too and the place is super cute and cozy. i regret not getting a second sandwich to go on our departure day.

We got the long espresso and the cold brew tonic. The cold brew tonic also had ginger roots in it which was a surprise. The view near the staircase is 10/10 and the barista was very friendly and kind!

Concordia is a restaurant located in the heart of Sighisoara, a city with a rich history dating back to the 12th century. Concordia offers traditional and Italian cuisine at reasonable prices, making it an attractive dining option for visitors exploring the area. Its beautifully arranged terrace adds to its charm.
Great place to eat in Sighisoara, Romania 🇷🇴. Very centrally located. Seating all outside from what I could see. Great ambiance with lively background music. Service was wonderful. Food is great, and this restaurant has an extensive menu. They do accept credit cards. One unique feature of this restaurant: they have several cell phone charging outlets for customers.
The P — Google review
I had a late lunch, early dinner here. The heaters were good. However the food and drink were not good. The beef goulash was really tough and rather tasteless. The lemonade was awful, just really sweet syrup in water. Service quite slow even though not many in the outdoor area. No one seemed to be in charge of the outdoors area.
John B — Google review
Very disappointing experience. It didn’t take long to place our order, but it took over 10 minutes just to get our drinks. We ordered a Greek salad as a starter, which took more than 30 minutes to arrive, and it wasn’t close to what we expected; lettuce with a few tomatoes, excessive black olives, no cucumbers at all. By the time we finished the salad, our drinks were empty, and we then sat for another full hour without ever receiving our main dishes or hearing form our server. I eventually had to track him down. There was no apology or mention that our meals were on the way so we paid for the salad and drinks and left. What made it worse is that the restaurant wasn’t even busy, so there’s really no excuse for such poor service. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a common issue here.
Eric S — Google review
Nice staff, great service. In less than an hour we ordered and had our food brought to us and also finished eating. The portions were generous and the food absolutely delicious. Small issue was the small bathrooms but they were clean so there's not much to complain. Bonus points for the local cats politely roaming there. Made the experience a 10/10
Eliza P — Google review
Great music and lemonade. Pizza was great, the Bruschetta de la Casa was good but drenched in olive oil ( so ask to go easy on the oil).
Merav N — Google review
Skip this place. Alina (our server) took over 30 minutes to bring a drink out, and over an hour to bring food. Not a busy time, just poor service. The food was also meh. It's a shame because it looks nice, but poor service ruins it.
Rodney — Google review
Do not recommend! The food was awful! We received cold grilled pork and chicken meat (looking as yesterday cooked) that actually was raw and tasteless! Even the grilled vegetable were bad! How can you mess up grilled vegetables?! The prices do not match the low quality!
Georgiana T — Google review
Visited the place on a rainy Saturday, it was packed. Serving was reasonable and fast enough though some of the waiters (men, especially) were chaotic and barely coping. The beans-in-bread soup was good and tasty, but the tripe soup was no where near...it was only a tasteless coloured liquid with some tripe in it..the burger we've ordered was acceptable/read 'ok' but not the best we've had and the goulash was miles apart from the real Hungarian meal, it should have been. Prices were ok and they do charge in addition for any extras you might have, as in our case: bread, sour cream, chilli pepper etc. From our experience, i would recommend them only for the beans-in-bread soup.

We had a great time there, at the Country Rock Affair concert. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. The food and beverage is great, the service very good. I recommend pizza, vine and tiramisu.

I ordered a portion of pasta carbonara which was like an omelette and only tasted like egg. I do not recommend at all.
Andrea M — Google review
The location is good and the waiters are very kind! But I didn't enjoy much the pizza : the taste was quite okay but the mozzarella was barely there and the pizza was half burnt; not to mention that it was not very abundant. I expected more having seen the price.. Plus we waited a lot of time to receive our food and to pay.

Title: Exceptional Dining Experience! I recently dined at La Piazzetta in Sighisoara and was thoroughly impressed. The cozy ambiance, attentive staff, and diverse menu made for a memorable evening. I tried the Pizza Diavola, a true masterpiece of flavors and presentation. The attention to detail, extensive wine selection, and impeccable service elevate this restaurant. Whether for a romantic dinner or a special occasion with friends, La Piazzetta in Sighisoara is a must-visit !

Okish food, but careless regarding details. That is in contrast with the somewhat high prices. Vegetable cream soup is just regular soup throwed into a blender. The meat from the Goulash had some slightly burned marks. I wouldn't come here twice...

The place is nice, has a good view. I really appreciate they were respecting all hygiene and social distancing rules during the pandemic. The food was awesome and the plentiful while the price is fair. They don't have a great variety of desserts, but there are lots of plates available, though.

I ordered the beans without sausage and it was really tasty however my family got sick from the goulash and the cheese and polenta dish was very average. Not many vegetarian options but I appreciate that they made the beans without meat.

The food tasted stale and like it had been reheated multiple times. I couldn’t bring myself to eat it after a few bites. It was honestly questionable whether it was even safe. I ended up walking out hungry. would not recommend this place.

Very basic tourist restaurant in the centre of the old town. No vegan options beyond very basic salads, and service was incredibly slow. No hand soap in the toilets - not even an empty bottle, so wondering about cleanliness. Menus old and dirty. Table decorations dirty & broken. Also we were charged for our bottle of water, but this did not arrive. Would not recommend

Casa Saseasca is a charming traditional guesthouse located in the heart of Sighisoara Citadel. The blue building offers 9 cozy rooms, a shaded courtyard serving beverages, and a terrace for drinks. Guests praise the warm hospitality and friendliness of the staff, particularly mentioning Alexandra's welcoming demeanor. The medieval setting adds to its allure, making visitors feel at home in Romania. The rooms are described as clean and picturesque with some featuring mini-bars.
Sighișoara was my favorite town in Romania and Casa Saseasca was my favorite lodging. The owner Ana was extremely kind and friendly and Alexandra was very helpful and attentive. This Inn is right in the middle of the Citadel and I would highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

The food was not good at all, we had bean soup in pita - a food we eat all the time but this was the worst of them all, guys at the restaurant, the bean soup should not be soured, it's a common recipe, I'm sure you can make it better.

The location of the accommodation is absolutely perfect: literally in the middle of the citadel. The view from some of the rooms is straight into the square, so the best location ever. The rooms are large enough and very clean. The bed is of decent size and really comfy. The furniture is beautifully painted, with traditional models and colors. The host is very nice and easy to talk to (she is from Brazil, but speaks perfect English and decent Romanian). Would definitively recommend, if looking for a prime location and a traditional feeling. Disliked · The accommodation is actually a really old house (recently renovated), so the wooden floor is a bit squeaky. But that did not bothered us at all, it just adds to the authentic traditional feeling. Also, parking is not available, since it is a pedestrian only area. Again, not a problem for us, but could potentially be a problem for disabled people.

Very nice, right in the middle of Sighisoara Citadel. The staff was extremly kind and accommodating, gave us a room of three at the price of two and was extremly honest about the level of noise and heat on each of the three floors so we are able to make an informed decision about which room to choose. There is a terrace outside where they serve drinks, but they also serve breakfast in the morning if you want to (I believe). The rooms are extremly clean. They are provided with mini-bars. The most interesting aspect of the rooms is that the furniture is adorned with traditional Hungarian models. The ceilings are high whcih keeps in line with the traditional house model. I highly recommend this place. It is very good value for money and it allows you to be in the heart of it all.

The room was really nice, with traditional motives and comfortable for our 2-nights stay. The room was clean and equipped with everything we needed. I loved the view directly through the square. Although it's such a central location, the noise wasn't loud at all and we didn't encounter problems on this side. Staff was really nice and helpful, was a pleasure to interact with them. I would have loved for them to have a breakfast serving, but who knows, maybe in the future it will happen. Thank you, Casa Saseasca! :)
Diana L — Google review
Great guest house, superb value for money. Rooms are cozy and clean, staff is helpful, location couldn't be better. And yes, you CAN reach the gate by car to (un)pack your luggage if you show your reservation to the citadel guard - but you do have to park outside the citadel for the duration of your stay. The only thing I can't say anything about is the food - we just happened to eat elsewhere... Which reminds me, it would be nice if they served breakfast.
Kristina K — Google review
Me and a friend booked a room in March 2025, and paid for 2 nights - 25 -27 July. He had our confirmation received for the reservation. Later, on 13th of may we got a message saying there was a an error and a larger group rented the place for 4 nights. It was quite a struggle to get a hold of somebody on the phone. I talked to the receptionist 2 times. Long story short. A month and a half and we are just now told we have no reservation, even though we paid in advance. I've attached a screenshot of their reason for rejecting us. CASA SASEASCA, you should change your name, cause Saxons were good hardworking, reliable people, and you ar nothing like that! Worst services so far in Sighisoara!

One of the best experiences we've had in Sighișoara. The restaurant is close to the medieval citadel, on a small road. There's a small terrace in front and only about 6-7 tables. The service was excellent from start to finish. The lady who served recommended their best dishes and we were happy with the choices. The food was tasty, with good sized portions. The waiting time was alright, considering we were told that every dish is made on the spot.

It has been a while since I had an Italian cuisine. Here, the food is excellent! I had mixed seafood platter, and Eldorado fish. I have never tried it before. It’s very tasty indeed, but has lots of bones. The seating area outside is a delight. Watching people walking around while enjoying your meal! The service is excellent. The owners serve you by themselves actually. Extremely friendly people! Please Just note: Their Prices is high. Highly recommend!

We shared dishes family style. Carbonara, delicious! Bistecca alla Fiorentina was dry aged and cooked perfectly. All of the ingredients were from Italy and the restaurant is reviewed and certified by the Italian Culinary Institute (?). Amazing. Don't miss it. Food is made and served by the owners, a lovely husband and wife team.

What a great family restaurant! They are from Florence. No pizza here, this is fine Italian food. We had several drinks (my wife is a drinker), two salads and the mixed seafood grill with pannacotta and I tipped 20% for the great service, 79 USD. My only regret is that I didn’t notice the refrigerator with the dry aged beef for the beef ala Florintine. My recommendation is that after a hard day of touring, you should take your whole family here for the steak Florintine. I wish we had a second night here! Don’t miss it!!!

Really nice place with great service. Had a wonderful bistecca fiorentina, rare cooked as it should be. The wine selection is very good. The owner is also the Chef and he is very friendly, talks to the clients and explains everything in the menu. We had a very pleasant talk. Prices are on the higher end of the scale but it's worth it. The food is premium quality. Would recommend for a dinner in Sighișoara, I will return every time I will be in Sighișoara.

An excellent Italian restaurant. We are vegetarian and had some lovely mushroom penne with some delicious spinach and broccoli side dishes. Oh and the cheese cake was magnificent. Well worth the walk down from the citadel. The owner is lovely too. Can't recommend enough. Could be more choice for vegetarians though

Great quality food and very nice Italian staff. We arrived without reservation and the owner made an effort to accommodate us, and put at preferred table outside. After enjoying drinks inside our dinner (delicious!) was served on the terrace. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Located in the heart of the old city of Sighisoara, Romania, Restaurant La Perla offers a unique dining experience with its outdoor seating overlooking the charming cobblestone streets and an inviting indoor atmosphere. The restaurant is known for serving exquisite Romanian and Italian cuisines at reasonable prices. While some visitors have found the burger buns to be disappointing, others have enjoyed the tasty food and friendly staff.
Very good food and excellent service. It is located in the city center. You should try traditional dish lichiu that is exceptional.

It was my 3rd time here and it didn't disappoint. Food is always good. Definitely coming back when passing Sighisoara next time. Keep it up, guys!

Good place to take a lunch or dinner. Good attention by the staff. About the food surprise to us the quality and price, very good service. Surprising the papanasi The atmosphere of the restaurant is cool but they should lower the background music a little

Very good restaurant, we had their version of chicken schnitzel covered with crisp and crunchy cornflakes, the porc cotlet was qmazing and rich with flavours and the Papanasi were a perfection.Thenportiins are big enough to be split between 2 persons. Alex , our waiter was very courteous and friendly and everything was served rapidly. Would definitely come back next time i am there

Tasty food, friendly service, decent prices! Burger was a blast, pizza made in a wood fire oven, even my rabbit was so soft and tender. Great home made desserts! But the waitress made us the entire evening, with her attitude and help in choosing dishes, plus helping us in making a family moment, cause one of the brothers was his birthday!
Catalin M — Google review
Papanasi was not really nice because the dough was oily and did not have branza de vaca. The smantana was full fat like butter. Also 35 lei for a medium portion of two average papanasi is on expensive side. Unsmiling staff. Too hot inside due to the pizza oven
Maria N — Google review
Great service, atmosphere, and food. Our server Alex was wonderful, he made recommendations that did not disappoint. We had the ciorbă with sour cream and chicken, it was one of the best soups we ever had. Pork chops and pizza were also good. We preferred the indoor dining which has very comfortable seating. We ate here twice during our visit to Sighișoara and can definitely recommend.

Tourist trap. We ordered local 'bean soup in bread' which contained so little soup/beans/meat that was hard to believe, the taste was basic. The 'tochitura' was also really dissapointing in terms of quantity which was very little for a high price(tried this food in many restaurants before and this one was the tiniest one and this place is not some gourmet place), it was however tasty but this could not redeem it. Also the place was very dusty. The service was alright. This was my experience, would not recommend and I hope that whoever reads this will have a better experience

Nestled within the Central Park Hotel, Joseph T Restaurant is a sophisticated dining spot offering a diverse selection of international and local wines alongside delectable dishes. The restaurant's elegant ambiance is enhanced by live concerts, making it an ideal setting for both business meetings and romantic dinners. Situated in downtown Sighisoara, near the park and just 150 meters from the Clock Tower and Medieval Fortress, this restaurant provides an excellent option for a leisurely lunch or an extended romantic dinner.
Undoubtedly one of the most impressive restaurants in Sighișoara. It's located within a 4-star hotel but the restaurant is open to everyone. The atmosphere is great and the interior design is very stylish and pleasant. The seats are very comfortable as well. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our waiter was friendly and our drinks were quickly brought to the table. The food was delicious, with large portions and beautiful plating. The ingredients seemed to be high-quality and every dish we served was very tasty.

I really enjoyed the look of the place. It is really nice and with an elegant vibe. The atmosphere was absolutely lovely and really romantic and the music was just right. Regarding the food now, well, the food was just okay, in a way I expected a bit more, since the prices were a little spicy, but was alright. I had a Diana steak, and my partner had filetto a la jossph t. I also had a caramel cheesecake for the desert that wasn't really sweet, but the cheese was really good.

Absolutely Outstanding! We had dinner here and enjoyed a Transylvanian cheese platter, fish bream, and duck leg, paired with local beers. The service was impeccable from start to finish, and our waiter Mr. Sile was truly exceptional — attentive, professional, and friendly. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in a classic style, with comfortable seating that makes you want to linger. The food was simply fantastic — compliments to the chef! Every dish was perfectly prepared and bursting with flavour. It was truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing evening at the restaurant. The interior looks fancy, but you feel cozy once you get a seat at the table. The staff is really quick and helpful. The menu is very diverse, and you have plenty of options based on your diet or preferences. We had duck and sea bream in the oven and was really delicious. They have a great selection of Romanian wine, but we chose a glass of their wine house and was perfect. The quality of the food and service far exceeds the price.

Had a very nice dinner here. There's an extensive food and wine menu. Large serves. Most menu prices are very reasonable. Large tables and very comfortable chairs. Service was unobtrusive and professional.

We enjoyed our meal so much last night! The ambience and everything we ate was amazing. I also thought the price was very good The best part was the service of our lovely and sweet Simona. She really made the meal special for us
Celena V — Google review
Although we started with two amazing dishes we were expecting a third that never arrived because we had a confusion with the menu, which the waiter saw and didn’t help with. He was always unbothered and never cared to know if we were enjoying our meal or had any question, which is expected of a restaurant of this price and rating. Rather unfortunately, the third dish (spicy beef strips) was chewy and tasted poorly.
Marta A — Google review
The restaurant is great! I got a T-bone steak and a Chateaubriand, which were cooked amazing. I also wanted fries and a sauce, that they didn't have in their menu, but without hesitation, they made them for us. The food was very good and the plaiting was amazing. The atmosphere was calming and the interior was fantastic and felt royal. I totally recommend it!

My stay here was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I arrived until my departure, I was thoroughly impressed. A comfortable and enjoyable stay. I would definitely consider staying here again. Location was perfect for exploring nearby attractions and city center. It was within easy walking distance of everything I wanted to see and do.My room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed. This review regards the restaurant. My husband and I had a very bad experience there today. We came for dinner only to be greeted by no one and directed to an open table with a hand gesture no word by an extremely unfriendly and rude server. We ended up ordering just one pizza to share. No one checked on us during the dinner, no suggestions, no words whatsoever. When we asked for two plates that were not provided beforehand the server looked at us again no word and sent someone with the plates. It was very unwelcoming. We finally asked for a check and waited forever to get it. Not to mention I’m pregnant and the wait was absurd. The server brought us a check with again absolutely no words no thank you no nothing. Please do yourself a favor and never go there especially as a foreign tourist. Unacceptable behavior.
Sonia K — Google review
We intentionally came for dessert only. The staff was delightful and the underground atmosphere was cozy and warm. The papanasi was cooked perfectly. Crispy on the outside, soft and spongy on the inside. Great amount of sour cream and blueberry topping. The presentation made us want to dive right in.
Andrew U — Google review
The waiter visibly and audibly coughed directly in our soups. On top of that I’m fairly sure he was laughing about it to his colleague. He also quite rudely demanded a tip, which he did not get.
Will H — Google review
We waited at the entrance and no one came, but two guys busy behind the bar saw us. We saw a table downstairs. We went back upstairs and waited again. One of the guys said there was no space behind the corner, only round the side at the top and he pointed. The table there was reserved. We waited downstairs to see if we could sit there. There was another guy behind the bar there. He came over when I started fiddling with a bottle and told us to go back upstairs as there was no space upstairs. We went to another restaurant.

Casa lui Vlad Dracul, also known as Dracula House, is a bright yellow building near the clock tower that attracts attention for being the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. This historical figure inspired Bram Stoker's novel 'Dracula.' The house now serves as a museum and restaurant, featuring exhibits on Vlad's history and military campaigns. While some find the museum lacking in detailed information, it remains a popular tourist attraction.
Being inside the real house of Vlad Dracul was truly special, also I ve met one of his kind :)) for 15 RON , was worth it!

I don’t understand the low rating. It’s a really cool place to visit. You pay to see Vlad’s room. It’s a fun little experience for only €3 extra. A regular exhibition would’ve been boring! This was fun. The quality of the food was very good. I really enjoyed it. We ordered once to our hotel. We also ate in the restaurant. Both times were great.

I have to give a huge round of applause and congratulations to the entire staff for managing to feel like the most ripped-off person in Europe after 27 years. The performance of the poor guy dressed in a bad plastic vampire mask and a small-sized costume lying in a fake coffin is underappreciated.

Guests have praised the cozy and fresh rooms as well as the friendly and informative staff. The hotel captures the feel of Transylvania with its historical charm and Gothic arches, offering stunning views of the square.
Dinner experience, not lodging. Night 3 here in the citadel area of Sighișoara, this place was recommended by my hotel. Venison ragu on pasta, holy cow! Some much traditional Romanian fare in town - not that thats a bad thing - but it was great to have something that stood out. So robust and flavorful! Loved the meal.

Only a few steps away from the main attraction in Sighisoara Citadel which is the Clock Tower, yet quiet at night, this old Haus mit dem Hirschgeweih (House with the Stag Crown) with its unique architecture makes you feel royal but while offering decent prices. Very generous breakfast buffet with elegant coffee and traditional Romanian cheese, ham, salads, organic fruit jams and organic juice, omelette, etc. At lunch or dinner do not miss the red pepper cream soup served with croutons and Romanian cheese on top, nor the onion cream soup served with small yellow cheese bruscheta, the the pork steak with mushroom sauce, the Wienese schnitsel with cranberry jam which outruns the Austrian ones by far, nor the vegan pasta with vegetables as well as their traditional Romanian dishes or international ones, all served enjoying the stunning view over the Clock Tower and the old town square with its Transilvanian unique houses. A few steps away is the House of Guilders, a very nice small museum and also the remarcable Scholar’s Stair (dated from the year of 1642) which leads to the old Church from the Hill, to name only a few of Sighisoara’s outstanding attractions. Definitely we will return to this enchanting, alluring House beautifully placed right at the heart of Sighisoara Citadel.

We had a 3 day trip around Transilvania and this was the best I've stayed in. The room was great, the bed was like it was made from a cloud :) The host was so kind to let us bring the car up in the citadel to leave the bags - a great way to help a family with two small kids and lots of bags. The service was perfect and went the extra mile to deliver wine and cake into our room when having a small celebration. Will definitely come back next year!

One of the most central and the most quiet hotels I ever stayed in. This stunning old building was restored and transformed in a hotel, restaurant and cultural center by a German foundation. Staff, accommodation, restaurant and service is impeccable. For me the surprise was to discover one of the most interesting artist’s, TELI IACSA exhibition opening in the same hotel’s Art Gallery:. She is famous in her naive and mistique style under glass paintings in Romania and abroad. I’ve noticed first her works in her personal exhibition in Istanbul a couple of years ago. I leave few photos of the artworks belonging to Teli’s amazing collection.

A typical supermarket in the area. It is a small, winding, compact store that is well organized and has all of the basics. The produce is fresh and well stocked as is the butcher. They do not have a lot of specialty items but they do have a wide selection of beer, wine, and alcohol. The cashiers are not super friendly but they are effecent.

Decent supermarket. I also tried the hot buffet - fried cheese with French fries. Good price, cheese was good, but I wouldn't recommend the fries or potatoes. Good alcohol choices (for example the 96% vodka). Took cards, have no complain of the service.

No card payments, cash only like in the medieval times. They have a hand written notice, but only in Romanian. So expect to get an eye rolling from the cashier if you didn’t read my review before a shopping attempt.

Good spot to pickup a snack or a drink if you are staying in Sighisoara. La Rotisserie down the street didn’t have any chickens ready so Profi came to the rescue with a whole chicken and some fries.

A little supermarket, intended for tourists, considering it's position in town. The produce available is nothing special, the employees are sometimes rude or careless but most of the time you won't need their help. It has no bathroom.

Everything you need (kind of) It's really close from the citadel (just around the street) and prices are accessible. What i didn't quite like was the cashier; Don't get me wrong he was really respectful but he gave me a negative vibe if it makes sense. If i'm correct it closes at 20:00 which is kind of dossapointing if you need a late night drink

Tried this place while looking for a decent breakfast option in the citadel. It was a good choice - they have a selection of cakes and pies on the sweet side, but also had sandwiches on the morning offer - not a wide range, but OK. A good selection of tea and, of course, coffee too. It also looked like a nice place to sit out in the central plaza, and enjoy its terrace during a sunny day.

A good place to eat in central Sighișoara, great location near the park and the access to the Citadel. I was personally intrigued by the outdoor barbecue where the cook prepared the food. It's always a nice touch to be able to witness the process and adds a good feeling to the whole experience. Service was very nice, friendly staff. Food was very good, well cooked. Had the mixed meat platter for two which also included fries, sauces and sour cabbage. Prices were decent. Would definitely recommend and would be willing to come back.

A great evening spent here, good food and service. The kids have "șnițel " and spaghete carbonara, we’ve had the Wow salad and fried sweet potatos, all dishes big and tasty. Prices good also, we will definitely come back when in the aria.

Terrible service. Arrogance all over with the serveuse. I don't know where's that coming from. They take their own time for everything even to hand over the menu. Food was average. I couldn't even enjoy the average food. Top of all they asked me to pay for the bread and sour cream (seperately) served with the soup. Seriously? I was enjoying Romanian cuisine all over I travelled but this time not a good experience.

The restaurant offered a delightful experience with a cozy ambiance and delicious food. The beef and chicken soups were flavorsome, while the pizza 4 meat was a definite highlight—savory and satisfying. The overall atmosphere and quality of dishes made our visit a memorable and enjoyable dining experience.

I liked the atmosphere and the service but the food was nothing to write home about Had a traditional bean soup in bread (bread was fresh) which was decent enough and the pork ribs which are supposed to be a signature dish and were, unfortunately, a bit burnt and had a funny taste. Also they serve frozen fries and the BBQ sauce is not home made, quite expensive for such quality. I did like the hard liquor, plum brandy and they have beer on tap unlike other places in the city

The place is well located next to a small park and also near to the taxi station and the parking zone. Inside looks clean and modern and the staff is very friendly with the clients. The food is tasty and the timing is fast. As well the main course is huge and I couldn't eat all. They forgot the drinks but later I reminded and there was everything okay. Enjoy!

I think it's one of the best places to eat both for lunch and for breakfast. Tasty dishes, a very good quality/quantity/price ratio. I really liked the fact that the dishes were not very salty/burnt and that they were fresh. Decent prices for the center of Sighisoara.

Not quite as popular as The Clock Tower, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

The Covered Stairway, also known as Scara Acoperita, is a historic and picturesque feature in the medieval town of Sighisoara, Romania. Dating back to 1642, this Gothic architectural marvel consists of timber steps sheltered by a vaulted roof. As visitors ascend the narrow and winding passage, they are protected from the elements while enjoying scenic views.
Such a nice experience to go up the Covered Staircase (Scara Acoperită), a wooden structure with 175 steps, that leads to the Church on the Hill and the old cemetery.
Lamis G — Google review
One of the main sightseeing spots in Sighișoara Citadel. Carries a history going back to 17th century, when it was constructed to protect pupils from adverse weather and not allow them get in visual contact with the cemetery.
Dimitris G — Google review
One of the most picturesque and unusual places in the Sighișoara citadel is the Wooden Stairs, also known as the Scholars’ Stairs. Built in the 17th century, these covered wooden steps were designed to help students reach the School on the Hill, especially during winter or bad weather. The atmosphere is truly special: the old, well-preserved wood makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. The climb, though it may seem challenging at first (over 170 steps), is an authentic experience that leads you to one of the most beautiful panoramic points in the city, right next to the Church on the Hill. For tourists, the Wooden Stairs are not just a practical pathway but also an attraction in their own right. They offer a glimpse into the medieval spirit of the citadel and into the daily life of its former inhabitants. The light filtering through the planks, the coolness of the wood, and the echo of footsteps on the stairs create a unique atmosphere. Tip: Take a few minutes to climb slowly, touch the wooden railings, and look back toward the citadel – you’ll be rewarded with a wonderful view. This is a must-see stop for anyone visiting Sighișoara. ⭐ My rating: 5/5 – A place full of history, charm, and medieval authenticity. And a place where you can take incredibile photos if you can wait for the perfect light!

For the first time I counted 175 steps, and after that just have discovered that there are 176 . Interesting way of the locals, for hundreds of years, to protect their children, on winter or rainy weather , on their way to school. And professors, too.
Ibolya I — Google review
From what I understand the stairs and roof covering was built for the school children and possibly a dry walk up the hill during bad weather. The walk isn’t too difficult but depending on your physical condition. There are a few steps in need of repair so pay attention where you place your foot. The whole structure is wood so up keep is always an issue with woodworking. There is a Church at the top with a 10 lei entry fee. Also, a beautiful cemetery to explore and find secluded areas to relax.

The Covered Stairway is one of Sibiu's true hidden gems. This beautiful passage isn't just a way to get from the Upper to the Lower Town—it's a journey through history. Walking down the cobblestone steps under the arched stone roof, you can truly feel the centuries of history in the walls around you. It’s an incredibly atmospheric and photogenic spot, connecting you to the heart of Sibiu's medieval past. The stairway is a must-see for anyone exploring the city. It's a peaceful and picturesque escape from the main squares and offers a unique perspective on the city's layout and fortifications. It’s an essential part of the Sibiu experience!

Very nice but some steps need to be aligned. These stairs is actually a way to school, thus students need to climb every day up

It was an excellent experience. My Gf ran up all 175 stairs. There is no cost and a nice written history in 3 languages.

Mystical Transylvania offers a unique experience for those intrigued by the Dracula legend. For a small fee, visitors can explore five rooms that use visuals, light, and sound to tell the story of Vlad Tepes and the city of Sighisoara. Unlike Bran Castle, this attraction delves into the real history behind Vlad Tepes and his impact on the region.
Charm and very nice place to understand the story and history behind Vlad Dracula. A Legend who born in this town’s. The display of the exhibition is very interesting and hand made in high artistic style. The last room was surprising with the figure and the story background we feel back in the past where Vlad impaled all the Ottoman soldiers. It was such a great experience. The lady staff on the front is so nice and actually she born in this town so she can tell more while we waiting.
Faozan I — Google review
If you want to learn about the history of the city + get a better understanding of the "vampire" Vlad, you have to visit this place full of history. The price is 30 Ron for 2 immersive experiences. Also, the host Carissa was really sweet and kind!
Darius C — Google review
Interesting exhibitions that cover stories relating to the town and the life of Vlad the Impaler - the exhibits are beautiful and we can see that a huge amount of effort was put into creating them. Appreciated that they have an English version as well! That said, they are still a little rough around the edges and could definitely be further refined to create a more complete experience
Yan T — Google review
Very interactive and detailed. Enjoyed the atmosphere created by the props and the visual effects. Would 100% recommend especially for students studying the history of Romania.
Dennis — Google review
I paid 20 lei/person, for the Dracula story - you see 5 rooms, where with visuals, light and sound the story is being told. Honestly super cool idea, way better than what we saw and learned at the Bran Castle... I would only say they rooms "start" stories very fast and sometimes we were not able to change the room. Plus in one, the speaker was not working well. Otherwise - I liked the experience a lot, I wish it would be a bit longer.
Kasia G — Google review
This place is really adorable, away from the city's rush and allows you to relax, have a coffee, a fruit shake, a beer and even some food in the near future. A hidden gem, in the middle of the old city, very close to a museum as well.

A unique experience! We really loved entering Mystycal Transylvania and would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Sighisoara! The hosts are local and they created an interactive museum which consists of entering different small rooms in a house where you hear a story from local history. The stories were super informative and engaging and the rooms present each story with visual efffects. What I enjoyed a lot is that it is only one group entering each room at a time so you and your friends or family have enough time to enjoy each room without the hassle of normally full of people museums. Outside there is a lovely garden with a lot of shade where you can have something refreshing after you are done. The whole museum takes about 40 minutes with 20 minutes dedicated to Vlad Dracula and 20 minutes consisting of different local stories. You can choose whether to do only one part but we did both and did not regret it!
Lora T — Google review
A very welcome initiative. There are many romanians who don't know about Vlad the Impaler's personal life and how it shaped him as a leader. Also, such an informative exposition is good for foreigners because many believe Vlad has something to do with Bram Stoker's famous novel "Dracula", but it doesn't, really! I appreciate this little project and i'm looking forward to seeing it improved. The interactive exposition makes you go through several different rooms where you listen to Vlad's story from childhood till his death, from a personal perspective. The decorations are nice, but i wouldn't advise to bring any sensitive children to the last room which has 3D depictions of impaled people. It can be troubling for kids. The price is fair: 3 euro / person (2.5 for students) and the staff is nice.

Teo's Cellar is a charming and cozy wine cellar located in Sighisoara, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests. The cellar is housed in a 700-year-old building, adding to its historical charm. Teo, the host, is known for his hospitality and passion for sharing stories about the drinks he serves, including wine, beer, and spirits. Visitors can also enjoy palinca, Romanian moonshine that has earned Teo an internationally awarded Gold medal.
We first discovered Teo’s Cellar in 2019, tucked into the heart of Sighișoara’s medieval citadel. From the moment we stepped into their guest house and their cellar, Teo and his family extended such warm hospitality that we felt like being welcomed into old friends’ home. His passion for Romanian tradition shines through every aspect of the experience. Fast forward to 2025, we returned, not as boyfriend & girlfriend any more - this time to stock up before our wedding with some of the golden liquid, drawn again to Teo’s exceptional creations. His unique brandies and liqueurs aren’t just good; they are award-winning (gold, silver, and bronze medals) at international spirits salons and fairs. Some call it “medicine” 😍 We sampled everything - from velvety plum palinca to fragrant forest fruit liqueurs - each sip richer than the last. Teo’s pride and storytelling elevated the tasting into a cultural journey. Nestled within a 500‑ to 700‑year-old cellar, the setting itself is magical - stone walls, wooden barrels, the medieval ambiance all around . We came with guests from Arizona, US, and they have raved about how the hoast presents the cellar unique flavors, proudly displaying gold medals and the history of the place. Our return visit, reminded us why Teo’s place is a must in Sighișoara. His warmth, his spirits, and the authenticity he’s so keen on preserving, all combined to create an experience that’s equal parts cultural immersion and heartfelt celebration. We left with several bottles - and a deep appreciation for Teo’s craftsmanship and love for Romanian tradition. For anyone seeking genuine hospitality, top-tier spirits, and a living glimpse into Romania’s medieval soul, Teo’s Cellar stands alone - truly deserving of a gold‑medal mention itself.

Very beautiful rooms, lovely atmosphere, nice and quiet, peaceful ambience, very hospitable hosts. The owner Teo and his wife were very passionate and knowledgeable about the history of the place and very warm and welcoming, and proud of the cellar liquors they produce. We especially loved the nice tea area on the porch outside our room, both in the evening and in rainy mornings, enjoying slow and restful moments with vintage candlelight. The location is also great, in one of the best spots in Sighișoara, right next to the picturesque Central Square in the heart of the Old City and the iconic Roofed Stairs that go all the way up to the Old School and Cathedral in the hill. Very close to most restaurants and antique souvenir shops and we also loved the Cellar, we definitely recommend the Forest Berry Liquor handcrafted after a secret family recipe guarded through generations!

Teo's cellar is located in a hotel. We did not stay at the hotel but visited the cellar. It was a really pleasant experience for the entire family, including our 5yo. I had the wine tasting while my husband did the brandy tasting. Our daughter was served some organic apple juice and crackers so everyone was happy. We left with a bottle of wine that we corked ourselves and a bottle of brandy. The cellar is stunning and the host is amazing.
Alison L — Google review
Beautiful place. Not all of it had public access keep in mind. The cellar itself is also beautiful, and the liquor is amazing. Teo is a great host, we just stopped in to check it out but had to stay because Teo was so inviting and the drinks were so good.
Luca C — Google review
We did a wine tasting in Teo Cellar and really enjoyed the wine, especially white. The cellar is very cosy and with some local music you feel like in Witcher3. Would definitely come again :)
Ilona D — Google review
Affordable and locally produced palinca, tuica and wine tasting available in a cellar. My preference was the forest fruit liqueur. The name comes from the owner who hosts a BNB along with the liquor store of sorts. Takeaways (200/500ml) and trial bottles (100ml) also available to purchase as souvenirs. Strong stuff, so please don’t drink and drive!
_aliased — Google review
We tried some "palinca" (plum, pear and apricots) and forrest fruit liquor. It was amazing. Also Teo was very hospitable and thought us a bit of the history of the drinks and his cellar. Great experience. Would definitely come back.
Alexandra F — Google review
This was such a great find. Located in the courtyard of a guesthouse it was easy to miss. The man who helped us was also the award-winning creator of the specialty liqueurs. We loved the Forest Floor liqueur so much we bought a bottle. My only criticism is they could be marketing themselves more, with at least an "open" sign. It was empty when we visited and the restaurants around the corner were full. Although we love hidden gems to stay hidden, this place should have been much busier. Perhaps it's just the time of day we were there (4pm).

Casa Breslelor, also known as the Guild House, is a museum in Sighisoara, Transylvania that showcases authentic Saxon tools and equipment used over a century ago. Visitors are greeted by the owner, Rares, who provides attentive and friendly assistance. The museum offers an immersive experience with medieval music playing in the background and sounds of different craftsmen at work.
Definetely worth the price. Very detailed and lovely presentation of the various sectors back in time alongside the tools and clothing items they used. There is also a gift shop at the end of the museum.
Dennis — Google review
One of the kind in Romania, allowing the visitor to take a glimple at people's daily life in the past. You will have the chance to see a very rich collection of tools and daily items organised around professional occupations. The tour is beautifully complimented by videos showing each artisan in action. Warmly recommended. There is also a sister museum of maps and weapons that we didn't have the chance to visit this time.
Effie K — Google review
A small but impressive museum where details about the activity of different craft guildes are given, with a lot of instruments that craftsmen used, some special appliances and coats of arms. All exhibits are really authentic. They sell a combined ticket that includes the visit to one more museum where a lot of old maps, arms, household objects and clothes are exhibited.
Iren O — Google review
A very nice museum with a real history about Transilvania and Romania It is a good experience to visit Sighisoara the old town
Dorel T — Google review
Captivating video on building a full size cart from wood with wooden wheels which would have been pulled by a horse. A reminder of how clever our ancestors were!
Merinda H — Google review
The House of Guilds has potential, and there are indeed many interesting artifacts on display, but the way they are presented didn’t feel especially engaging. The space is rather small, and there isn't much information provided to help you connect with what you're seeing. Also, the air felt stale inside, which made the visit less comfortable. In its current form, I wouldn’t consider it a must-see, but the concept is valuable, and I would love to see it improved.
Loredana S — Google review
Amazing, Absolutely wonderful! And you must meet Rares Sopterean, museografer, historian and administrator of museum Casa Breslor and Casa Armelor. He knows so much information to give you about those places that you will be mesmerized. I was extremely impressed. The museum is located in an old building that has its own history. I totally recommend to visit the two museums (Casa breslelor si Casa Armelor) in Sighisoara. The Guild House is a “miniature” history museum that hosts an exhibition of tools, equipment and machinery used for centuries by craftsmen from Sighisoara and its surroundings. It is actually an exhibition dedicated to guilds and includes tools, guild insignia and multiple other objects.

Excellent museum! Very impressed with the great variety of historic tools and craft bjects and the detailed explanations regarding early craftsmen of Transylvania and their guilds. Yes, seems that to attain the Master status one needed to be a married German male!

Muzeul De Istorie Sighișoara, located inside the Clock Tower, is a local history museum showcasing various historical crafts, art, medical supplies, and an antique clock collection. The exhibits include objects crafted by master craftsmen and provide insights into Sighisoara's history. Information cards in English and Spanish detail the process of joining craft guilds.
This place is magical, you can see a panoramic view of the whole city. The museum have some interesting objects to see, but the 5 stars is for the view. I highly recommend for the visitors of Sighisoara.
G A — Google review
Definitely make sure this place, the clock tower, is open if you visit this city. You can see some of the history in the museum and see the area from the top. The town is quite small and this is one of the sights to see.
Erich L — Google review
The museum is located in the Clock Tower. A museum seemingly forgotten in time… where you climb countless steps, everything creaks, and some decorations give you chills. The panoramic view of the city from the top is the cherry on top. Beautiful… worth a visit.
Burghelea O — Google review
Although the curation has not been updated in probably fifty years it is a museum that still holds up for those interested in the history of the transylvanian Germans Most of the exhibition is translated in English, German and French and what is not translated can be easily gauged as a lot is self explanatory. The Romanian cards aren't saying much to be missed The highlight is, of course, the view from the clock tower where you might take up as much as 15 minutes to enjoy it properly
Klaus W — Google review
Great museum for its money. It does not have a lot of things to see, but the tower itself and the view for above are outstanding. Especially if you take in account that the building has 400 years.
Sasha C — Google review
Very busy and messy museum. They let to many people in, most of the explanations in English were missing (luckily I understand German). The exhibition on oberth was hidden away on the last floor. The tower does have a nice view.
Christophe C — Google review
Very nice tower that all visitors must see. The museum has very interesting things although it is quite old and the stairs are dangerous!!

The Monastery's Church, once part of a Dominican monastery, is a stunning Gothic church built in 1289 with a baroque interior. The Late Gothic architecture is complemented by early Baroque interior fittings such as pews, pulpit, and altar. The church also boasts oriental carpets donated by the city's guilds. Despite being overshadowed by other architectural wonders in the city, this Lutheran church is a must-see for lovers of beautiful buildings.
The Monastery Church is located in the Citadel Square not far from the Clock Tower. The church, which is built in Gothic style of the hall-churches with 2 naves and 2 rows of pillars, belonged to the Dominican Monastery. The church was restored in the 15th century and then again after the big fire of 1676. The last repairs were done in 1894 and 1929 when the church aquired its present day look. The church holds valuable objects like a bronze front dating back to 1440, a stone door frame carved in 1570 in the Transylvanian Renaissance style and built into the northern wall of the church, a collection of 17th century oriental carpets donated by merchants and a fine altar piece from 1680. The organ was built in 1680 in Baroque style by the same artists that carved and painted the altar. The organ is used even today in many concerts organized in the church. The Church can be visited for a small fee (15 lei = 3 €).

A church that needed a bit of renovation. The location of the church was siting on top of the hill and have a great view. You will not miss this church after bypassing the clock tower.

A beautiful medieval evangelical church. It looks very unique and it fits the medieval city. It is perfect for a photo session, for entering and admiring the architecture and remembering how small we are...

Biserica din Deal, also known as the Church on the Hill or Sf. Nicolae, is a prominent landmark in Sighisoara that offers more than just religious significance. The Gothic architecture and guided tours provide insight into its historical and cultural importance. As a museum, it showcases valuable exhibits like 15th-century altar pieces and remarkably preserved murals dating back over 500 years.
Probably the most beautiful evangelical church in Sighisoara. The church is situated on the top of the Citadel Hill, standing there from the IV century. Inside there are some impressive paintings, restored in 2004. It's one of the must see objectives from Sighisoara

This beautiful church was my favorite stop on a whirlwind tour of Romania. Yes, it is a long walk up the covered stairs. The admission to the church is inexpensive, and when we went, the man and woman working there were wonderful and friendly. We were treated to an excellent presentation on the church's history and the area. There is so much rich history and they were able to provide so many details.

The Church on the Hill is one of the largest Gothic churches in Transylvania and it's located on top of the highest hill in Sighișoara, at about 429 meters above sea level. The church can be visited for 15 RON (~€3) per person and the price includes a small printout that contains information about the church's history and most important exhibits that can be seen inside, including a small crypt.
Liviu-Cristian M — Google review
Unfortunately, the church was not as interesting as we expected. Like some other churches we’ve visited, the renovations have erased much of its historical character, leaving it looking more like an amusement park than a heritage site. The ladies at the ticket counter, who also hand out printed information, were unable to tell us where the memorial to the German soldiers (located next to the church) was — we had to find it ourselves. Overall, it didn’t meet our expectations. And to be honest, if you’re short on time and don’t want to tackle a long climb through a tunnel with many stairs — which is quite demanding even for a fit person — I would not recommend it.
Nina M — Google review
After you climb 170 stairs and get all hot, you can get inside and cool off😂 Inside it the temperature is lower than outside and feels nice. To get inside you pay a 10 Ron ticket. There are 2 persons responsible there, and they tell you stories about the paintings from the walls and legends related to it. Is very nice. You can also visit the crypt. There is an old coffin visible there. Worth a visit!
Andreea D — Google review
Well restored Lutheran Church (originally Western Christian / Catholic) with older medieval lower church serving as crypt. The personnel at the door was very helpful, an information sheet with several languages is available. Some frescos. Some of the wooden aktar panels (e.g St Martin) and the choir stools are quite beautiful. The acoustics is great (I was encouraged to sing from the altar...).
René M — Google review
This was a beautiful gothic representation of the Saxon church. The surrounding are beautiful especially in the fall. The cemetery is just as interesting if not more so. I feel I spent more time walking through and enjoying the cemetery more than the church itself.
Chris R — Google review
Well worth the climb up 176 steps. The church is magnificent inside, and visiting the crypt is just creepy enough to send shivers down your spine. The guy collecting the entrance fee was very friendly and told me a little about the church. It was used the the saxon (German) residents in the area, but most of them have moved away for some reason, so today this lovely building rarely sees a service.

Nestled within the historic Sighisoara Fortress, Restaurant La Strada is a popular dining spot offering a delightful blend of traditional Romanian cuisine with a contemporary flair. The charmingly rustic setting adds to the appeal as visitors savor specialties like sarmale, mici, and mamaliga. Guests can also indulge in smoked and baked pork shank with bean stew while exploring the underground restaurant that houses a souvenir shop at its entrance.
This is an amazing restaurant have above Sighisuara, the food is very good And the local Romania wine is every bit as good as a good French or Portuguese wine. The waitress that served us was also friendly and lots of fun.
Noel C — Google review
This restaurant is definitely nothing special. It is quite expensive but the food needs more seasoning and in our opinion also a bit stronger taste. I really do not recommend the La Strada salad. The cucumber, salad and tomatoes with few bites of cheese and cold chicken with a really small amonut of yogurt dressing was nothing I expected for 45 lei. And also do not go for the dish called somehow like Pork pan with polenta from the Rumunian specialties section-very tasteless. What I very recommend is the Goulash (5/5)! And the stuff was also very helpful and kind!

I find this very interesting because of the location and how much effect has once your sitting on the terrace you get a good feel enjoying the old square view next to the famous staircase. Service here is good, owners super friendly and food is tasty. I do recommend and we will come back again.

Nice place. We sat for a quick lunch. We were the only customers at the place. They have started doing some renovations which wasn't the most pleasant experience. Soup and chicken filet with gorgonzola were great. Service was also good. Inside the interior was quite impressive.

I wouldn't recommend this place for anybody. You should stricktly controll your bill. They suggested In the comment that I was without dog. They are right. I didn't want to come in to the restaurant just for water with 59 kilograms od Cane Corso.

We waited for a good while so we hoped for slightly bigger portions or slightly better food…. But it was not bad overall. They forgot to bring us the second beer ;) Yet the climate of the Main Street and 10h drive to get there were best seasonings

ReFresh is a popular bar in the beautiful city of Romania, offering an amazing atmosphere and fantastic drinks at great prices. The place has a welcoming ambiance with great music and delicious fries. It also serves burgers and perfectly made cocktails along with good beer. The cozy and relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, live event shows, and a nicely decorated terrace make it a must-visit spot in Sighisoara.

A real disappointment. Burgers were worse than at McDonald’s. For french fries we waited for almost an hour. It was soaked with oil, there was no Parmesan on it but a local cheese. There is no knife or fork. Lemonade was nothing special. Beer was good. The waiter although nice and friendly is not professional. Smoking cigarettes or using mobile phones instead of taking care of the clients. The toilet is terrible, nothing is working. At the end we got the receipt with things we didn’t order.

I spent most of the afternoon at this awesome establishment and just loved the atmosphere and genuine staff there. The bartender Adina especially receive a gold star 🌟, but MR made the afternoon with a gold sparkle aswell ✨️ I recommended that everyone give this unique place a chance. You will not regret it!

The food is horrible! I bought the smashed burger, and the bread is so big, that you cant even feel the meat! It tastes like bread with cheese. And, I dont know what the others say about the "high atmosphere" and the "nice music". No music, no people, just the staff and some families, when I came, there was only 1 other family, awfull experience, please avoid!

This little garden bar gem is a not that easy to find, but persevere, and you will find a tranquil environment with lovely staff and few tourists. There are a couple of nice beers available on draught and some classic, Romanian lagers are available in 500 mL bottles. Sit and relax with a beer under the Cherry and Apple trees, it is much cooler in there than the rest of the street areas. Look for the 'Mystic Gardens' signage on the side alley or 'Refresh Smoothie Bar' from the main drag. You won't be disappointed.

This place impressed me so much, that I would like to have this in my garden as well. It has a friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff. They can adapt the drinks to your liking. Love it 😁😍

We came to the bar after visiting the museum (also great). It's so relaxing and comfortable, the family that runs it are incredibly friendly and happy to talk, we ended up coming back three times during our stay. The drinks taste great, I drank smoothies and cocktails which I would recommend to anyone. The live music was a bonus! The food is also super delicious, we had burgers and rustic fries which were a winner all round. Over all a super chill and artsy vibes. Don't miss this place if you're in Sighisoara!!

Had a great afternoon / evening at this little outdoor bar! The staff were so friendly and spoke fantastic English. It is attached to two little artsy exhibits about local history which are good value and entertaining. The atmosphere at the bar was so chill and all the bean bags and hammocks made it really cosy. We had several rounds of cocktails and beers and a burger each. Prices were good and the quality was great. Really enjoyed the live music! Made us feel super welcome on our first night in Romania.

Citadela is a charming 1820s hotel with cozy rooms, a cafe, and a seated terrace. The owner is friendly and accommodating, offering historical insights about the well-preserved medieval-themed house. The rooms may be small but are comfortable and clean, with some offering views of the Clock Tower and the city. Renovated to match the atmosphere of 18th century Romania, this beautiful old building provides simple yet convenient rooms.
We didn't stay at the hotel, but we had lovely dinner there and it was absolutely fantastic! Such amazing service, very hospitable and sweet. The food was fantastic - not the biggest portion sizes, but quality goes over quantity and the quality was top notch. I recommend! ❤️

I didn’t stay here, but I had an amazing dining experience. The food was well-cooked and delicious, and the outdoor seating was lovely as well. The chef is an artist and he has some great collection too.

Hidden gem in Sighișoara! The restaurant Citadela is cozy and welcoming, with lovely views of the Clock Tower. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent: my partner had the caramelized chicken with garlic potatoes (he said they were the best he’s ever had!) and tartar sauce, while I had a refreshing gazpacho with croutons and sprouts, plus a smoked salmon salad with sun-dried tomatoes. Portions were generous, everything was delicious, and we left completely full. To our surprise, the bill for all of this (including water and a soft drink) was only €25. Absolutely recommended!

Wow, this bistro was a real surprise! The food was excellent - we loved the flavor combinations, and the service was warm and welcoming. Don’t miss the seasonal pumpkin soup and the beef stew, which was absolutely delicious. One of the best meals we’ve had in Romania!

Very good food! We had the dishes with seafood and the shrimps were up to perfection 👌🏼. All the dishes were absolutely delicious! Served with a modern twist. The waitress was alone, but absolutely managed all the guests and expectations with friendliness and stayed pleasantly calm, but attentive.

This is an opinion about restaurant. It is surprising in every way. Positive surprise. We had pasta for kid (refreshing, al dente on point, balanced), beef stew (long long cooked with some twist of spices) and excellent soup with ciolan (pork knuckle). Chef knows how to cook and service is exceptional. The only strange thing is lack of line in front to get in here. Ate on the quiet street.

The accommodation 1 minute walk from the main entrance into the old city. The host is very nice, communicative and very helpful. You can have breakfast or dinner on the location; they also have coffe and a lot of beverages. The only reason I rate this accomodation with 4 stars is because the bed was not so clean (we found hair under the pillow) and the sheets looked like it was not changed before. Nevertheless I would stay there again if I will go to Sighisoara.

Such a cozy place. The soups are fresh and super tasty, you can tell they’re made with good stuff and a lot of love. Tried the salad with Mozzarella di Bufala too, and again, quality ingredients all the way. Good food, good staff and good location. Easy 10/10.

As others already have said the food looks good but its bland, very weak in actual flavor, needing salt and pepper and not satisfying to eat. The servings are big. We served dinner in the interior and the atmosphere was weird, no music, no ac.

We went 3 times to eat at Ferdinand Bistro and we loved it each time. First time we bought pizzaioli which was amazing! Totally recommend it! Second time we got ciorba de fasole cu ciolan afumat, and it was so good! After, we got pizza capricciosa and it was also delicious, in conclusion, the pizza dough is amazing at Ferdinand Bistro. For drinks we got the red wine glass and socata, both were good! We 100% recommend! The food came very quickly, ~10 minutes, and the waiters were kind.

An absolutely gorgeous Italian restaurant with great service, location and choice. Pizzas are an obvious choice and they don’t disappoint. Cocktails were also delicious and coffee looked tempting though we didn't have the time to enjoy some. Portions are big and service is really attentive.

This Italian restaurant has three vegan options including a very nice pizza with tofu and a bowl with rice and chickpeas. Since there aren’t many dishes containing protein around the center of the old town, so you should try it out! And if you need help ask Adriana 😊
Michal M — Google review
Ordered the tofu vegan pizza. Was super skeptical because who puts tofu on pizza. It is very easy to slap a few vegetables on tomato sauce and dough. This was thoughtfully put together with flavors in mind but the dough is also incredible. Chewy, good char, and the right amount of crispy.
Michelle Y — Google review
Nice patio to sit on and nice inside also. A good selection of pizza, pasta, local dishes and good salads. The salmon bowl was great. The crust on the pizza has a lovely dough and is cooked in a pizza oven. Could be more generous with the sauce and the tasty toppings. Service was fairly fast but not particularly attentive. Overall a good choice.

Youth hostel
Burg Hostel is a simple lodging option in the old city, providing both modest dorms and private rooms. It includes a restaurant, pub, and frequent live music events. With prices starting at just 15 USD per night, it is ideal for those on a tight budget. The hostel's location within the Sighisoara Citadel allows guests to experience the medieval spirit of the area. The rooms offer comfort and cosiness, complete with hot showers.
One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in!! Comfortable bed and pillow, and everything was spotlessly clean. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. They have foosball and ping pong too. Check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. They also provide drinkable tap water. We really enjoyed our stay here! Highly recommend it to everyone. It’s more than just a hostel - it’s a great place to stay and relax for a longer time as well ☺️

excellent excellent location!!! I only stayed here for one night, so it was ok for me. i booked 4 beds with private bathroom but ended up with 6 beds( though only 4 ppl there) but bathroom was outside. very minimal kitchen, only some free tea but no free coffee. bed is comfortable for me. overall if only one night it’s good choice. free luggage storage before check in.

This hostel has a big positive thing: the location. Also the calmness inside, and a clean bed. The rest not so much: it’s a super old place and you can see some parts of the hostel need maintenance. My stay was not bad per se and the price is great. Just know that it’s a very humble place with old furniture etc.
Ignacio M — Google review
I really enjoyed this hostel. I was only here for a short while, one night, but I appreciated the self check in information so I was able to arrive late. I was the only one in the whole room, so I had the quietness to myself! My only issues would be: - I couldn’t figure out the lock mechanism for the locker, but I was alone so it was fine - The bathroom is slippery/ no holder for the shower head, so it’s difficult to shower and I was worried someone would slip if I wasn’t alone Overall I enjoyed it, and the owner replied super quick to my WhatsApp messages. Beds were comfortable, maybe a bit short because I am 196 cm! The kitchen is totally fine, lots of spices and such. I used the microwave and bought meals from lidl about 12 min away for 8 lei each 😜 Overall, highly recommend if you want to stay in the old town. To get here from the train station is only 16 min but it goes up some STEEP steps so recommend a taxi if you have issues there!

I wrote a bad review and I regret it and that's why I'm editing this one: It's a good place, it's central and very nice, the owner is very friendly, the building dates back to 1730 so it is under the name of historical monument, it's cozy and quite

This was my very first time in Sighișoara and Burg Hostel was an excellent choice for accommodation. Central location, in the heart of the citadel. Clean, comfortable, warm room and historical atmosphere. The personnel is very polite and always there to provide us with everything is needed. I will definitely return here.
Mara-Ioana V — Google review
Nice hostel with cozy vibes, everything was perfect and the town was super cute I recommend this place!
Gaia C — Google review
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! The room that I reserved on Hostelworld was not the room they gave me. The picture (and ad) showed a single private room, with one bed, and a lot of space in the room. The room they gave me had two bunk beds and no extra space (see pics for comparison). I asked for a refund because they didn't give me the room I reserved and they refused. They said that the pics on hostelworld don't actually show the rooms that are given. Because they advertised the room as a Single Private Room, it MUST have only one bed, per Hostelworld's terms and conditions. They are in direct violation of this policy and they still won't issue me a refund! Beware, this place only cares about money and not customer service!

Art & Crafts is a souvenir shop in Romania that stands out from the rest due to its unique and tasteful offerings. The owner, a skilled craftsman with a passion for traditional Romanian symbolism, has created an oasis of good taste in Transylvanian crafts. Unlike other kitschy souvenir shops, this store offers handmade items from Sighisoara that are sure to impress.
Great little craftsmanship's shop in Sighisoara! I hesitated to come to Sighișoara, but when I saw that they had this little shop, I decided to go and I was very glad to. They have all kinds of objects, all handmade in Romania (either in the region or in other places). The man is of course known for his handmade spoons (most of them for decoration, but we can use the white ones in the kitchen), but they also have a lot of other objects including wooden egg cups, little handmade houses of the region and other regions (for decoration), wooden money boxes (most of them in the shape of cute animals), little handmade houses to put a candle in it, pottery (plates, bowls, cups, ...), little decorated signs for the house keys, religious paintings, etc. During my trip in Romania, this is the shop where I spent the most money, because they are the ones who have the most beautiful handmade objects ;) Best shop in Sighisoara and for me also of Romania (although I only went to four places/cities). If you are in the region, make sure that you go there and don't forget to check the opening hours before (very important!).

An absolute gem of a store with works from a world renowned artist. They always have some fantastic hand made items and beautiful drawings and other objects. The shop is small but it has a large number of items without being crowded.

Fantastic shop in Sighişoara. Ceramics, wooden items, art. The craftsman was in the shop when we visited and was able to tell us about the items we purchased, which I love!

Amazingly well crafted sculptures and paintings from local craftsmen. The owner happily shares the tales of the gallery's origins in Romanian, English, German and Dutch. You're able to buy the displayed tools and art pieces to a good price. Very professional presentation and a secret tip for travelled!

We were so happy we walked into this shop! Different local artists have their wares, ceramics, and crafts on display and the merchant kindly offered information about the different art styles and motifs. Definitely go visit!
Lia P — Google review
They should do something about the glass door at the entrance in the shop. This morning j bumped my head into it quite hard and i still have headaches.its 9 pm now. The girl at the counter inside the shop didnt even flinch to come and see if i was ok. She heard everything from inside but didnt say a word. What if the glass broke and i cut myself? What if another foreigner tourist would have harmed themselves in the door and would have made an official complaint about it? Or even sued the owner? I seriously damaged my wellbeing, due to the incompetence of the owner, staff for not marking that door. but i walked away instead. It should be marked with a caution advertisement, since its dangerous and future accidents may happen again

Most of the time when I see a souvenir shop (both in Romania and in Europe, too) I get an uneasy feeling of: brace yourself, kitsch is coming! Oh, but not here, not in this shop. You want a nice handmade item from Sighișoara? This is the place to get it.

City Hall
Sighișoara City Hall is a must-see in this last inhabited medieval town in Europe. The historic center, though small, boasts fascinating old structures like rock walls and gates, a clock tower, and ancient buildings that transport visitors back in time. While some buildings may need maintenance, the overall experience is worth it. The neo-classical building offers a breathtaking view of the town and has a beautiful location. Visitors can also enjoy the back yard with its scenic views.
One of the last inhabited medieval towns in Europe, Sighisoara is a must on everyone's 'life list' of 'to do/to see and experience' places. Once there, make sure you spend at least one night in the old part of the town (look ahead for accommodation, as it is always very busy), enjoy a lovely meal at any of the restaurants or pubs (they all serve great traditional and international meals).
Sebastian V — Google review
The historic center is really interesting although it is small. It has cool old structures like rock walls and gates, also a clock tower and some old buildings. It is perfect to walk around and transport yourself a few hundred years in the past, to have a small glimpse of what I looked like in those times. Some buildings could use a renovation or maintenance, but it's still worth a visit.
Fatih A — Google review
I like it. The Sighisoara City Hall, nestled in the picturesque Citadel Square, blends seamlessly into the medieval charm of this UNESCO-listed town. Though it was closed during my weekend visit, the sunny, warm weather made the surrounding area a delightful place to linger. The building itself, while not as ornate as the famous Clock Tower nearby, contributes to the historic atmosphere with its understated elegance. Its prime location in the heart of the citadel puts it within easy reach of cafes, souvenir shops, and key landmarks like Vlad Dracul’s (*)VV(*) House, making it a natural pause point while exploring. The square buzzed with life—tourists admiring the pastel-colored buildings, street performers adding to the ambiance, and outdoor terraces inviting passersby to relax. Even without access to the City Hall, the vibrant setting offered plenty to enjoy. The sunlight highlighted the cobblestone streets and vibrant facades, creating perfect photo opportunities. While the building’s weekday-only access might disappoint some, its role as an administrative center rather than a tourist attraction is understandable. For those simply soaking in Sighisoara’s atmosphere, the City Hall’s presence adds to the town’s authenticity without demanding much attention. It’s a subtle but fitting piece of the citadel’s living history—best appreciated with a coffee in hand and no rush to move on.

Casa Wagner is a refined hotel located in the UNESCO-protected old town of Sighisoara. The historic setting offers warm and well-equipped rooms and suites, each uniquely decorated to preserve the past while providing modern amenities. The hotel features a restaurant with a vaulted ceiling, a wine cellar, and live music, creating a unique historic ambience throughout.
Some people might say something about the old furniture, but I like it. The house gives the feeling of authenticity. The stairs, the doors, the windows are well preserved. I love it. We had the rooms in the house vis-a-vis the reception with a view to the main plaza. It was quiet all night and very nice in the morning. The breakfast was a normal one. I enjoyed the coffee at the indoor terrace.

During -8°C weather, our small attic room stayed uncomfortably cold despite the radiator running full blast. Summer-weight blankets and sleeping in winter clothes weren't enough to keep warm. Paper-thin walls meant hearing every movement and conversation from other guests between 1-3 AM, making sleep harder. The place was clean, which we appreciated, but basic amenities were missing (no fridge, no hair dryer), furnishings were dated, and the overall feel was neglected. Left a night early but no refund offered.

RESTAURANT The location is very beautiful and cozy to sit outside on the little square. The service is excellent. Food: we ordered pasta bolognese and traditional Romanian spreads with toast. Everything was amazing

this has an exceptional location in the middle of the citadel, unfortunately the very unhelpful reception staff did not make life easier. Beware that you must unload all of your luggage and then drive your vehicle down to the public parking. When I asked the receptionist at the front for help, he just blew me off and afterwards when I complained, he said “not my problem”. What a pity. Wi-Fi miserable in the rooms. Also, seriously management get some shower curtains for your baths!!

Ate at the restaurant. Shred of plastic found in the chicken burger (probably from the mozzarella packaging) (also who puts mozzarella in a burger??). Waited at least 30 mins for our meals which were underwhelming and bland.

My review is just for the restaurant. We ate at the location, outside. The food was good and they have fast service. A little pricey for my wallet but I guess, centre location, tourist place, it all adds up. 4 stars because the chairs were uncomfortable and some of them were unsecure. Nestled in the heart of Sighisoara, Voynich Cafe & Pub is a charming local gem that perfectly blends vintage decor with a lively atmosphere. This inviting spot is ideal for both morning coffee and evening gatherings with friends, where you can indulge in an impressive selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. The cafe hosts various events like karaoke and quiz nights, making it a vibrant hub for socializing.
A great little pub in the middle of town. The bar staff spoke English, and she was friendly and accommodating (11/06/24). The beer range and selection was awesome (predominantly Kozel Czech, but also had Romanian brewed Ursus which was amazing). The decor and feel of the place is low-key, but warm and inviting. Thank you for the hospitality and looking after us so well today.

Quirky little pub - no food, no snacks, just beer. The place is strange in its own way - they don’t serve any food or even basic snacks, just draft beer. The waiter seemed completely indifferent, more interested in chatting with her friend at the next table than serving customers. On the bright side: prices are affordable (especially for draft Kozel), and it’s conveniently located not far from the Citadel
Olga B — Google review
The place is simple but great, owners are friendly and best of all they take care of 2 stray cats 🐈 that are allowed inside to interact with customers. Loved it, felt like home ❤️ Thank you for caring about others!

Good prices but that's about it. There is a huge variety of cocktails but they don't taste good, they are just not well prepared; they only sell industrial beers (selling craft beers would be a huge plus!) and the waiter wasn't friendly at all and didn't reply when we'd talk to her. The only star goes for the excellent value for money but now I understand why

We also participated in local quiz but since it was in Romanian.. pub was full of young, hipster-artistic looking people.

Historical landmark
The Tinsmiths' Tower, located in the heart of Transylvania within the Saxon village of Sighisoara, is a unique 13th-century structure standing at 25 meters tall. Its distinctive design includes a square base, a pentagonal section added in the 16th century, and an expanded eight-sided top with a hexagonal tiled roof. The tower bears visible bullet damage from a Hungarian siege in the early 18th century.
Beautiful tower, at the moment under emergency restoration.

A tower where you can admire the view of the city, and you can visit the history rooms, with many historical components and ancient utensils. Affordable price. It is a beautiful experience. Worth visiting

One of the most beautiful towers in Sighisoara. There's a nice view beyond the wall, accessible via a passageway.

It is great to see such an amazing architecture. Pentagonal at the bottom and octogonal at the top. Unfortunately can be seen only feom outside as it is situated in the courtyard of the lutheran church administration building.

The Ropemakers' Tower

Historical landmark
Nestled within the enchanting Citadel of Sighisoara, The Ropemakers' Tower, or Turnul Franghierilor, stands as a remarkable testament to medieval architecture. This unique structure is not only one of the nine preserved towers but also the sole inhabited tower in the citadel today. It serves as a residence for the keeper of both Deal Church and its adjacent cemetery.
Lovely historical site. Be aware it's an 176 stair climb to the tower from the lower part of the city. The other option is to walk up hill on the cobbled street and then through the old cemetery terraces.

(Translated by Google) The Frânghierilor tower is one of the nine preserved towers of the medieval fortress of Sighisoara and the only one that is inhabited today, currently being the home of the keeper of the Deal Church and the Deal Cemetery. It is located near the Deal Church, the tower was originally erected with the first walls of the fortress, destroyed during the Tatar invasion in 1241 and rebuilt in the 14th century, the current form dating from the 16th century. It is also remarkable because it survived the devastating fire of 1676, which affected other parts of the fortress.

Saxon Cemetery

4.9
(96)
Cemetery
Cimitirul Bisericii Din Deal, located in Sighisoara, Romania, is a large and beautiful cemetery that resembles more of a botanical garden than a typical graveyard due to the natural overgrowth. Despite its remote location, it's worth the effort to visit as it holds historical significance with old tombs dating back to the 1700s and an overall medieval atmosphere.
It is indeed quite a remote spot, but the effort that's needed to reach it is definitely worth it, as it is a hidden touristic landmark as much as it is a religious place. It can also be a nice vantage point to see the panorama of the city. Some parts of it are really isolated, with old tombs that date even from the 1700s, crypts and a general Medieval vibe the whole place gives. It's not really well maintained, but this is not very irritating, as it still keeps a classical Central European fantasy feeling.
Ștefan D — Google review
A peaceful cemetery situated on the highest hill in Sighișoara. There are two entry points, one being at the top of the hill while the other at the bottom, near the wooden stairs. The headstones are very beautiful and some of them are very old. It was a quiet and interesting experience to visit the cemetery.
Liviu-Cristian M — Google review

Me and my wife we stoped in Sighisioara when we were passing through. We ended up visiting places and we came across this beautiful and amazing cemetery. It’s quite large so patience is key. When you go in it looks more like a botanical garden rather than a cemetery, this is because the nature and the vegetation it takes it’s normal course. Romania is beautiful but unfortunately we’re not taking care of it.

The Torture Chamber

2.7
(54)
Local history museum
When exploring the historic clock tower in Sighisoara, don't miss out on a visit to The Torture Chamber. This museum holds a lot of history from the Medieval era and offers a glimpse into the darker side of Sighisoara's past. Despite its age, the chamber has been well-preserved, providing visitors with a vivid and immersive experience. If you've already visited the nearby arms museum, this is definitely worth a quick stop during your time in the area.
Its a nice little museum similar to the arms museum just up the road. Worth giving it a quick visit if you already visited the clock tower.

Definitely not worth 8 Ron.... It is literally this what you see in the photo in a 10m2 black room... I should have read the reviews.. People put wrong photos on here which aren't from this "museum". The woman of the desk is teaching English in her spare time lol (to be fair she was quiet when I was inside)
Anton A — Google review
Moderately interesting, but it is only one small room. It’s only 8 lei entrance so can’t expect too much.
Troy T — Google review
Although it is a nice piece of history it is not worth the price for one room with 4-5 components.

Romania requires a leader akin to him, for a minimum of ten years, to elevate its status among developed nations. The true bloodsuckers reside within the Romanian Parliament. Reflecting the local ambiance and informing tourists about this birthplace, the Statue of Vlad Tepes (1431-1476) stands as a testament. Commissioned in honor of the notorious ruler, it serves as a reminder of his reign and influence on Romanian history.

Tailors' Tower

4.7
(107)
Historical landmark
The Tailors' Tower, constructed in the 15th century, served as a storage facility with the ability to close off its gangways with metal gates during times of peril. Tragically, in 1676, a fire caused an explosion of gunpowder stored within, resulting in severe damage to its upper section.

One of the larger towers making up the perimeter of the Sighișoara medieval citadel. It was built in the 14th century and it is located on the opposite side of the Clock Tower. The two passages are wide enough to fit a midsized car.

As far as nature walk goes it’s definitely light and a 10/10 if you’re coming from Sighișoara. There is no specific sign or perimeter telling you where the oaks are. They are basically everywhere on the plateau. At the intersection there’s a really big one that has grown in such a way that you can sit on it. Me and gf called it “Copaci”. Please do the same 🥹
Mihai R — Google review
Nice little trail outside of Sighsoara. Well marked with tiny T signs. The ancient oaks were interesting. Would have preferred more forest hiking, but was spooky in the morning. See brown bear prints kept me out. When I returned, the hotel said, "Never hike there alone. Last month, a female hiker was killed by a bear. It was far from here, but as you can see, there are bear." Certainly worth the hike. But, good to be aware.
Kevin S — Google review
Definitely worth the visit. Some of the trees are around 800 yrs old, like the "Grandpa" .."Bunicul" so make sure you check it out. Impressive! Highly recommended.
CrisT — Google review
When visiting Sighisoara, don’t miss that place. Besides being the largest multi-secular oaks reserve in Europe, you will have a wonderful feeling when roaming the 133 hectares of the reserve. Bonus, you can also visit the neighboring beech forest, with some beautiful trees as well. The oldest oak in the reserve is more than 800 years old, meaning it witnessed the birth and the decay of a great civilization, the Saxon one. Been there with The Saxon House Garbova . Fantastic place, I highly recommend it, especially if you travel with children. Free entrance, picnic places with benches and tables. You literally can walk there from the city. The Via Transilvanica path cross the Breite Reserve
Vali R — Google review
A short description: The old trees, aged between 400 and 600 years and diameters up to 1.8 m, await you on the plateau near Sighisoara, in the largest and best-preserved habitat of wooded pasture with centuries-old oaks in central and eastern Europe . Here, in the middle of the forest, in only 133 ha, you can find 10% of the plants known at the national level (380 species and subspecies of plants). A total of 115 vertebrate species have been identified here, most of which are protected by law. Favorite place for mushroom pickers (30 edible species), dozens of playful butterflies welcome you here in summer, and the atmosphere is from another world. Many species of plants and animals – woodpeckers, songbirds, lizards, bats or butterflies – can be seen here, depending on the season and time of day. Please do not disturb, harm or capture them. Just outside the entrance, on the left side, there are two fallen oaks and one about to fall. An old oak, even a dead one, harbors a whole living universe (from woodpeckers, bats and woodpeckers, to algae, lichens and insects) and therefore it is important to leave it where it fell. At the edge of the forest is one of the oldest oak trees in the reserve, with a circumference of over 7.1 m and an estimated age of over 700 years! The narrowest part of the plateau is suggestively named "Wolves Pass" because, during the winter, you will certainly find traces of wolves, brown bears or wild cats there. My opinion: We went on a Sunday and there where a few people there but the place is so vast that it will not feel crowded at all. Listening to the birds in spring was so delightful. The OLD Grandpa is the biggest OAK that you can find at this location. Spend a few hours walking here and you will fell refreshed and full of energy. If you go to Sighisoara do not miss this location, is well work the road until you reach the location. Do not litter and if you see some and you have the possibility to take it to town please do so.
Vieru A — Google review
Be aware of bears! Other than that, this place could be a cool getaway spot to be with yourself, enjoy nature. Beautiful landscape, rich history of trees, plants. I would not advise hiking far away alone from the main site with the benches and football area, because of -again- bears and stray dogs.
Dave Ϟ — Google review
We saw a bear. They are very shy. As long as you don’t surprise them and make your presence known, you usually won’t have any problems with bears.
Manuel S — Google review
We visited the 800 year old tree. The “Granpa” tree. The road was terrible but the tree were awesome. Reminder: Follow the signage.

This charming establishment boasts cozy, well-appointed rooms equipped with excellent air conditioning—an essential feature during the warm summer months. Guests rave about the cleanliness and organization of the hotel, complemented by a friendly and attentive staff who are always ready to assist with a smile. The culinary offerings at Wanderer are nothing short of exceptional, featuring fresh and delicious meals crafted by talented chefs.
A very stylish, new, and excellent hotel. Convenient location. There is a staircase near the hotel leading to the main entrance of the old town. I believe this is one of the best-located hotels in the city. It also has a pleasant and warm atmosphere. Convenient parking. The room is very spacious, with a large and comfortable sofa bed. The bathroom is fantastic. The breakfast is also very good.

Evertthing was excellent ( other than we only stayed 1 night). Rooms very stylish and clean and the location to town was excellent. Most of all it was the staff that made our stay. Udo and Sebastian were great hosts and the food was also excellent . The young lady at breakfast and reception when we left was also very friendly. You have a great place (our favourite during our 9 night Romania road trip) and you deserve success. Thank you

One of the best stays. Great room - spacious, clean, beautiful, comfortable, quiet. Really helpful and friendly personnel - thank you, Sebastian! Good location - walking distance from all points of interest. Great food - breakfast, lunch and dinner all served here, all very good. (local beer is good, too - try Turnir) Parking available - limited space in the courtyard, but street parking should be available nearby. Great value for money.

Went for a few days for Easter with my wife. Very nice hotel and stylish hotel. Very friendly staff and honestly the food was the best from all restaurants we tried in Sighișoara. Some constructive criticism 🙃: you should cover the stairs or replace them as we had the room right next to them and they screech and are pretty loud when people go up and down (specially at night). ☺️. Also put a drape around the bathtub. The shower jet is pretty strong and it can get messy on the floor lol 😁.

For me it is perfect. Attention to details, customer experience, nice and careful staff, a nice restaurant with a view, perfect mattress!!!, really clean and neat everything, these people really keep a standard. And also near the citadel. ❤️ I am still here and enjoying all the days as Wanderer customer with my best friend. Will book again anytime when returning to Sighisoara!

A fantastic hotel, located just outside the city old center. The location is much better than hotels in the old center. The hotel is modern, with great rooms, great shower, easy access and amazing staff. We got a ton of help from Udo at the front desk. The restaurant is the best we had in Romania this week.

My review is for the food. The chicken served with the salad had a brown crust that tasted like fish. They are probably reusing old oil. The pasta was tasteless.

I had an outstanding experience at this hotel. It exceeded all my expectations with its impeccable attention to detail. From the innovative room designs to the luxurious bathrooms, every aspect was thoughtfully crafted. The culinary experience was exceptional; kudos to the talented chef for the fresh and delicious meals. The hotel's proximity to the citadel, just a two-minute walk away, added to its charm. The staff were not only friendly but also went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. Thank you Ale for being patient with us. The cleanliness and modernity of the hotel were top-notch. I highly recommend visiting this place; it's an absolute gem!

Nestled in the western part of the citadel, near the iconic Cismarilor Tower, Casa Cositorarului is a charming and romantic restaurant that beckons food lovers with its delightful menu. Offering both local specialties and international dishes, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic flavors. Since there was no 'Americano' coffee on the menu, asked if it is possible to get one, and was told that there's no problem. My wife had a double espresso. Adriana, the owner/waitress, seemed somewhat friendly at first. In the end, she charged us for 3 coffees - 36 ron. Don't know if that was due to Americano, or double espresso. Either way, 36 ron for 2 coffees, is hella expensive. That's 7.26 euros. You're better off going to some other place. Cash only.
Cosmin T — Google review
The waitress is so offended by everything I don't know why is still working there... We ordered 2 iced coffees and after we sat at the table and wanted to pay they said cash only even though there was a huge banner with card payment 😕. Disappointing and the coffees were horrible. Full of sugar and cream disgusting..I don't recommend this place. You're far better at other restaurants.

Food ok, but no credit card payment available, although the sign is displayed on the front door. Had to walk 15 mins to take out cash, up and down the hill, after having eaten. The lady was even unpleasant after I pointed out the CC advertisement on the door.

Tourist trap unfortunately - we sat at the terrace which is really nice, a bit like a secret garden, but what we ordered was typical tourist trap stuff. The elderberry juice is just overpriced syrup with bubble water - we knew that from reading the menu, but we had expected at least a minor touch like a lemon slice or some mint - nope, just overly sweet syrup. The waffles are just cheap microwaved supermarket waffles with some jam on top. Oh and of course the pay is cash only.

The Joseph Haydn house is accessible by car and has nice parking lots nearby. The staff is welcoming and professional, offering a warm reception and good service. The restaurant serves delicious food with a pleasant atmosphere, quiet music, and great decor. The waiters are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu items. Tasty food. We were there as a family of 5. Service was attentive and witty. Food was great - beetroot salad is a must try. Shrimp pastas are generous (a lot of mussels and other type of seafood) and spicy yet my 11 yo could eat them. All we tried was appreciated. Portion size is generous. What i did not appreciate was not having draft beer. Yet a place i would personally recommend to my family and close friends.

In Sighisoara, a place that feels frozen in time with its beautiful medieval charm, we had a delightful dinner. The service was very attentive, and the modern-traditional food was delicious and well-prepared. There was also a good selection of wines.
Rocio C — Google review
We did not stay here, but we did eat here. The food was very nice. We would give it five stars if it had lived up to its advertising. It advertises for Romanian food with a twist, which it does offer, but a large part, perhaps even the largest part of the menu is actually non-Romanian. That said, the food is very nice and value for money.

We found this place because we wanted to eat somewhere a bit more secluded, away from the crowded terraces in the center of Sighisoara. The food was excellent—delicious traditional Romanian dishes. The service was also great; our waiter, Alex, was fantastic and attended to us perfectly. We were very happy and will definitely return if we're in the area again!

Sighișoara is such a cozy, incredibly small town in Romania, where every narrow street breathes history. 🌿 We were just wandering around, not knowing where to go, and suddenly stumbled upon a hidden gem — a restaurant with a beautiful courtyard-like decoration, tucked away from the tourists. We ordered Hungarian goulash — and it was just wow 🤤🔥. Then we tried a cheese pinza — soft and delicious. And of course, the burger — juicy, with amazing sauces, simply top-notch! 🍔✨ The service was great, the prices a bit above average (well, it’s a tourist town after all), but it was so tasty and atmospheric that it was worth every minute and every bite. Sighișoara, you truly steal hearts! 💛

We wanted to make a lunch reservation one day prior to our trip, but they don't seem to take customers seriously. By the time we got to Sighișoara the next day, they told us there was no room for us and hang up the phone. Very rude...
