The Museum of Pottery, also known as Museu de Olaria, is a must-visit in the historic center of Barcelos. Since its opening in 1995, it has amassed a collection of approximately 9000 pieces, showcasing traditional and contemporary Portuguese pottery as well as international works. The museum offers well-curated exhibits across three floors, featuring various styles of Portuguese craftwork and their artistic influences.
An excellent display covering pottery from every region of Portugal, and a section about the Galo de Barcelos. It is free to enter for over 65s.
David W — Google review
This small museum is really a lovely worth it stop. Great for kids. I enjoyed the pottery from different areas and the information. I loved that they had a touch section. It is not a huge place but it was a good visit before my walk and I really appreciated what I learned.
Dawn M — Google review
Wow what a fascinating museum and so well done. So much beautiful pottery to see and learn about. There’s an audio guide and a number of really interesting videos. Highly recommended.
Karren P — Google review
What an unexpected happy surprise we had when the museum was having an open class for making pottery. The instructor and aids were friendly & helpful, showing us hands-on how to use the machine and mold pieces. We didnt even have to wait. What a fun way to experience the museum. In addition, the entrance fee was waived as well since it was a Sunday.
Hopi W — Google review
As a museum goer, I value well curated and interpretive exhibits of almost all kinds. The Pottery Museum is three floors of well chosen and exhibited works in a beautifully designed and naturally lighted space representing various styles of distinctive portuguese craft work and their artistic influences, a wonderful highlighted ceramic artist exhibit, rare pieces with documented authenticity, and interactive exhibits on the process of creating such works of art. I thoroughly enjoyed my 1.5 hour visit as I read the interpretive plaques (also in English!). I observed a school group being led by the staff and enjoyed the enthusiasm of both staff and kids. I also very much appreciated the elevator to every floor. It's definitely a worthwhile visit, and I will go again soon.
E G — Google review
Very friendly and helpful staff. The museum is well maintained and well structured. The visit was very interesting, offering an insight into the Portuguese ceramic tradition. Highly recommended if in Barcelos!

Restaurante Duque is a hidden gem in Barcelos that offers an incredible dining experience without breaking the bank. The menu of the day features traditional Portuguese dishes, including a delightful pureed vegetable soup, perfectly cooked fish filet served with rice and black-eyed peas, and a refreshing salad. With friendly service and a cozy atmosphere filled mostly with locals enjoying their lunch breaks, it's no wonder this spot is so popular. For just 7.
For the price of their Menu do Dia, you’re getting quality, fresh, and traditional Portuguese food and service. My go-to restaurant here in Barcelos 👌🏼.

I recently had an amazing pilgrim experience at Restaurante Muralha, a beautiful and welcoming establishment. The ambiance was elegant yet down-to-earth, making it comfortable even for those wearing pilgrim socks and sandals. The food perfectly fit within a pilgrim meal budget, offering delicious options that won't break the bank. Additionally, the staff was polite and attentive. While there may have been some wait for the food, it was definitely worth it in the end.
I just had the most wonderful pilgrim experience having a meal at this beautiful, welcoming, and delicious restaurant. The atmosphere was classy yet down to earth (me and my pilgrim socks and sandals felt comfortable there). The food was quite in line with a pilgrim meal budget. Debra poured me a luscious glass of red which, surprisingly, added little to the budget. I would go back there again and encourage all my family and friends to stop by. Great food, wonderful atmosphere, terrific prices, what a great find!

We were fortunate to stumble upon this hidden gem of a restaurant, as the one we had initially planned to visit was closed. This turned out to be advantageous for us. Our host Helena was extremely attentive and provided detailed explanations of each dish. She also recommended a wine that proved to be not just satisfactory, but truly delightful. The cod dish I ordered and my partner's vegetarian rice dish were both scrumptious. Helena once again suggested a dessert that was simply perfect.
Very nice place, went there because of Erasmus+. Nice serving and staff. I wish I could say thanks to them and have a proper goodbye, but I had to go to Romania earlier. The food is very good, especially the bread. I wish they had soap and a better hand dryer tho.

We were lucky enough to stumble across this gem of a restaurant, as the one we intended to go to was closed. That was to our advantage. Our host Helena was super attentive to us and explained all the dishes in detail. She recommended the wine which was not a disappointment, but a pleasure. It was amazing. I had the cod, and my partner had a vegetarian rice dish. Both were delicious. Again Helena recommended the dessert, and it was just perfect. I must say it was the most pleasant dining experience during our 9 day trip around Portugal, and most restaurants did not disappoint, but this exceeded our expectations, and the prices were really good value. Thank you again Restaurante Bar do Xano!!!!
Alan K — Google review
They don't serve coffee at the table, nor do they let the customer bring the coffee to the table (you can only drink coffee at the counter, the strangest thing I've ever seen in a restaurant/bar), and they charge €5 for sparkling water. Exorbitant price in Portugal, even more so in Barcelos, even if it was an upscale place. And, definitely, the service at this establishment is far from high-end, quite the opposite. It has nice decor on the ground floor, loud music, and additional tables upstairs. Currently one of the trendy places in Barcelos, given the lack of alternatives to go out and have a drink until late, and perhaps that is the reason for this dichotomy between price and quality.

As always, it never disappoints. Always welcomed with a smile and a funny way on how the dishes are presented. The food has a very high quality, the space is cozy, comfortable and in a great location. For me one of the best restaurants I went so far. Highly recommend.

A nice resturant but an inkonsistent service which is not matching with the delicouse menu. And not the menu is the problem. 😉 Michelin kitchen with mid-level service does not macht. Here are the details: Food: a smal menu with a choise of several things like fish and meat. A bit confusing is the system of starters. The service presents you several times a choise of starters and you can choose if you want it or not. Bread and water is obligatory for 4,00€ pP. The main dishes are very good. Most of the choises you have is for two persons. Espacially the fish. Ambiente: you have a nice view to the river and the city. The restaurant is nice. Only the TV in the middle of the restaurant where you can watch football disturbed the nice moment you should enjoy. Service: here ist the problem. They give there best but it does not match with the great kitchen. Ypu get the feeling that they have no system. At the beginning of our dinner 4 waiters ask a several time if we want to order. And we said third times that we want to start with main dishes - no starters. The whole time we had not that feeling, for beeing theyre guests.

Didn’t know about this place before; popped in for some lunch. What a wonderful experience. Great tasting food, excellent service and although we did look like tourists in our shorts and t-shirts made to feel at home. Add this to your list for a bite if touring Portugal 🇵🇹

Second time visiting Turismo and I was not disappointed. The owner (or manager) went to every single table to describe the menu and sent through the appetizers they thought we would enjoy. The crab pate was an absolute stand out and the deep fried shrimp. The mains were beautiful to look at and had interesting flavours. I had the pork cheeks which seemed to have a Moroccan twist on them, falling apart with the touch of the fork. The cheesecake dessert what light and creamy. Staff were extremely attentive and friendly, fine dining but still cozy. No surprise it has a michelin star. Reservation seems to be necessary as nearly every table was books. Vaccination checks and plenty of social distancing between tables. Beautiful atmosphere and decor overlooking the river which is lit up by Christmas lights. Would say the the television in the main dining room does seem out of place. I will definitely be returning when I’m on holiday next.

Everything was excellent — from the starters with prawns, to the main courses of octopus and pork shank, and the desserts: the caramel & chocolate duo and the Abade de Priscos pudding. A perfect 10 out of 10! The restaurant is beautifully designed and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. Mr. Jorge is absolutely lovely and made each dish presentation feel special. We’ll definitely be back!

Tasty food experience, nice location, anyway the service was a bit confusing and not as we’re much expected from a Michelin restaurant. It started with an irritating explanation of the starterts, which was sooo fast - we couldn’t understand a word. Afterwards a young waitress came and offering some options of starters, even after we’re insisting of directly jump in into the main courses. We’re also confused of some waiters asking the same questions what we’d like to order, even we did order to the other guy at first. We asked about the desert-options and what we’d expect from them, he was overwhelmed of our questions. In general nice dinner experience, anyway with the service quality and those flat tv showcasing football matches I don’t believe i would recommend a second visit.

The glassed-in dining area has good views of the river if the shades are up because the sun is not shining through the windows. However, all the glass and the low flat ceiling make for terrible acoustics, and a very unpleasantly noisy atmosphere in which to dine. While, a lovely view may be available through the windows, the interior ambience consists of a television tuned to a soap opera and plastic plants cascading down the walls. Not quite what one would expect from Michelin-suggested restaurant. I asked for a wine list and was presented with an inoperable QR code--nice touch. While service was not very attentive and quite slow, the food, on the other hand, was well prepared and tasty.

Museu Arqueológico, located on the site of the former Counts of Barcelos Palace, offers a captivating journey through the region's history and heritage. Housed within the palace's former stables, the archaeological museum displays a diverse collection of artifacts unearthed from archaeological sites around Barcelos. From Roman relics to medieval pottery, each item tells a unique story about different epochs in Barcelos' past.
A free open air attraction between the main church and the river. Good views and historical associations with the 'Lenda do Galo' which is explained in two slightly different versions, one at the entrance and another inside.

He allowed us to walk around for about 10 mins (its small enough to do it in that time). We have such a terrific impression of the people of Portugal and especially in small town Barcelos. When exploring the historic center of Barcelos, a visit to the Paço dos Condes de Barcelos is essential. (Translated by Google) Barcelos is located on the banks of the Cávado River and has a pleasant old town centred around the medieval bridge over the river. D. Afonso Henriques granted it the forum in 1140. Barcelos is twinned with the town of Pontevedra. The main church of Santa María Maior dates back to the 13th century and has a beautiful Romanesque door. In the square is the pillory, topped with an elegant granite lantern, and to the right are the ruins of the Paço dos Condes de Barcelos, also referred to as Paço dos Duques de Bragança (15th century). This small town is also known for its ceramics, in particular the ubiquitous Gallo, which has become a symbol of Portuguese tourism thanks to this legend: a pilgrim on his way to Santiago de Compostela was accused of stealing when leaving Barcelos. Unable, despite his good faith, to defend himself against the apparent evidence of the facts, he was sentenced to hang. When all his attempts to prove his innocence failed, the pilgrim invoked the protection of Santiago and, upon seeing a roasted rooster destined for the judge's meal, declared that, as proof of his innocence, the rooster would rise and crow. The miracle occurred. The judge recognized the pilgrim's innocence and set him free. O milagre ocorreu. O xuíz recoñeceu a inocencia do peregrino e deixouno en liberdade.

Balneário Castrejo is a significant archaeological site in northern Portugal, dating back to the end of the Iron Age. It is one of the best-preserved monuments with ovens in the region and forms part of a pedestrian route that includes other points of interest nearby. Discovered in the 1970s, this Iron Age spa was designed for bathing and features stone benches and decorative elements engraved in rocks.
(Translated by Google) The Castro da Pena Grande Spa is one of the most significant vestiges of the Castro Culture in the Northwest Iberian Peninsula. It is a reflection of the admirable technical skill of the men who built it and a testament to the daily life of our ancestors who inhabited this region of the Iberian Peninsula 2000 years ago. Of the vestiges of this settlement, a slope of the wall and the moat remains, some dwelling walls, and fragments of everyday ceramic objects. Both the monument and its settlement have been dated to the end of the Iron Age, coinciding with the beginning of Roman domination in this region. ○ The monument was discovered by chance in 1978, and its excavation allowed archaeologists to understand how this type of construction functioned, already identified in many other settlements of the Iron Age, such as Monte da Saia (municipality of Barcelos), Sanfins (municipality of Paços de Ferreira) and Briteiros (municipality of Guimarães). Studies led to the theory that these were structures with a simultaneously social and religious function of regional expression. Inhabitants from nearby areas would have travelled here, probably to perform their rituals, among them a possible cult of water. This theory stems from the interpretation of the presence of springs and watercourses, the complexity of the construction, aqueduct and tanks, but also from the type of decoration suggesting the movement of water. It has been a National Monument since 1986.

(Translated by Google) My rating is due to some details: - lack of related information (for example, a sign) - very narrow road with untidy ditches until you get there, after days of rain, the path becomes difficult to access: with dirt, leaves and the like... - there could be some space for visitors to park on the road perpendicular to the narrow and dirty road, because visitors don't know if they can drive their car there, and if they go by car, there is little space to maneuver to change direction, with so many curves, stones, dirt and leaves it is almost impossible to drive on that road with a car behind. And if you come across another car on the way, the situation must be quite complicated. - I don't know if there are activities that promote visits, interpretation, and appreciation of the place. A picnic area, a pedestrian path, a "cycle path" could be created nearby... - some of the wires in the fence are in a way that could hurt someone who is more careless (children, for example) However, there is a ramp for people with reduced mobility. Although it is difficult to take these people in or out of a vehicle.

I had the pleasure of dining at a small, cozy, and atmospheric restaurant with my friends while passing through Barcelos. It was delightful to observe the kitchen's operations, which I believe is a positive indicator of the establishment's quality. Despite the restaurant being nearly full, the service was remarkably prompt and courteous. We savored traditional Portuguese dishes, including francesinha and cod. The freshly baked bread served at the beginning of the meal was particularly delicious. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Unfortunately, we were unable to sample the desserts due to the generous portion sizes. 🤭 We look forward to returning in the future to indulge in their delectable desserts. #Portugal #Restaurant

After walking 32km on the Camino we were keen to have an early supper and head back to rest. We arrived at the restaurant at opening time and were lucky enough to get seated. There appeared to be limited availability later on so well worth booking if you can. The food and drink were fabulous. We treated ourselves to a ‘surf and turf’ main. The octopus was succulent as were the prawns with the steak being cooked exactly how we ordered it. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

We wanted to try this place out because the fit out looked amazing. However, the food really was not anything special at all. I speak fluent Portuguese and would have appreciated the server letting us know that two of the dishes we were ordering were pretty much the same, the steak dishes had no flavour to them whatsoever. Not to mention, out of my entire trip to Portugal, this was the most overpriced meal I have had. Charging 7 euros for couvert is a bit much considering the location and we also were charged for the water which literally was tap water. I honestly feel as though I was robbed in plain daylight by eating at this restaurant.

A modern rustic restaurant, super cozy and heartwarming hospitality. The food was very delicious. I strongly recommend the polvo and the cabrito.

The food was very nice, however service was slow and the kitchen did an unforgivable action! My friend ordered her dish without mushrooms because she is allergic. We send it back and reminded the waitress that she is allergic and that is the reason she cannot have it. The waitress brought the food back in literally 4minutes the kitchen just handpicked the mushrooms out and they even left peaces inside. After telling this to waitress the poor girl told us that the kitchen cooked it from scratch which was obviously a lie. After all that there was not even a discount in the bill. Should of put 1 star l, but my food was very nice so the reason I am putting 2.

Good traditional Portuguese food with an outside terrace as well as tables inside. It seemed to be popular with local people as well as the passing trade.

Fruity duck with cheesy mushroom and asparagus risotto + the drunk pear were good but the rest of what makes a good night out - ambience, service, basic hygiene - we're sadly lacking. We were walked through the nice empty front restaurant area to a corridor table in the canteen like rear, so close to a pillar we needed to move the furniture ourselves to be able to sit down (the table wobbled annoying when trying to cut the duck with the blunt knives we'd been given and the superfluous wine bucket hanging from the side of the table rattled). We were treated to the hum of the dessert fridge and the sound of our ailing waiter's sniffing throughout - which I found quite sickening and off-putting. Said waiter's shirt was hanging out and all service was half-hearted and performed with hands that were frequently touching face+nose - think Faulty Towers! Oh, and they didn't have at least 2 of the whiskeys on the menu. In spite of basically acceptable food I was glad to leave and couldn't in good conscience recommend it to anyone. Shame :(
Belinda V — Google review
My husband and I ate here after a day of walking the Camino. The food was excellent at reasonable prices. I ordered the octopus and my husband had the soup and a hamburger and we each had a beer. Both dishes were very well presented and tasty! The beer was a very reasonable price. I think the cost of the entire bill was about 35 euros. The waiter was helpful, friendly, and spoke English. We didn't feel out of place in our minimalist Camino attire. I would eat here again.

If you find yourself in Barcelos, Galo - Wine & Tapas is an absolute gem that should not be missed. This charming tapas restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience with its creative and exciting dishes. The tapas menu is highly recommended, as it allows guests to savor one dish at a time, enhancing the appreciation of each unique flavor. The atmosphere is further elevated by stunning views of the river and bridge, making for a picturesque dining setting.
Very nice Tapas restaurant. Really enjoyed a views and the food. Only carry craft beer but the craft beer was good. I've attached some pictures of the different topics that we tried I would highly recommend the fajita and the shrimp tapas . The staff was really helpful in selecting and picking the Tapas in the menu. The big plus is the location Barcelos right across the street.

We thought the food here was the best we had experienced during a week in Barcelos. We recommend you go for the tapas menu and ask for one dish per person - they then serve them one at a time which gives a good opportunity to appreciate each of them. There was some initial confusion as one of our group was Vegan, and the waiter initially told him none of the dishes were suitable. However the chef made some adjustments and he was able to enjoy 3 out of 4 of the vegetarian tapas.

Enjoyed a beautiful dinner here! From the view of the river/bridge to the creative and exciting tapas to the special local wine and canned fish…I’d call it a must if you find yourself in the area. We also had a great time chatting with our server who knew all about the wine and how to steer us in the right direction like with this blueberry panna cotta and mushroom delight pictured below.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Ponte das Tábuas. Not quite as popular as Igreja do Senhor Bom Jesus da Cruz de Barcelos, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

The Monumento - Estátua Galo de Barcelos is a majestic sculpture that represents the cultural significance of Barcelos and its people. This grand monument, which stands as a symbol of the region, could benefit from a more suitable location for tourists to capture memorable photos. Currently situated in a roundabout, it may not be the best choice for capturing the essence of this iconic masterpiece.

Casa dos Arcos is a spacious establishment located at Rua Elias Garcia, Barcelos. It offers regional cuisine at reasonable prices and specializes in providing personalized service for various events such as weddings, baptisms, and banquets. The venue has a beautiful ambiance and is known for serving generous portions of food that are ideal for sharing between two people. The appetizers, particularly the chestnut and mushroom dish, are exceptional. The salads are well-prepared and presented neatly.
Looking at the prices, I was thinking upscale price, small portions. I was wrong. Most of the food is geared for two people. I was given a chestnut and mushroom appetizer. Outstanding. Mixed salad was clean and neat. But the sirloin was at least 6 ounces or more. Fries, cooked greens, and rice. More than this 6'2" guy could eat.

Visitors have shared their experiences of quick service and friendly staff, with one standout employee named Claudia who left a lasting impression with her kindness. While some diners noted minor issues like cold food, the overall atmosphere remains welcoming and organized, even during busy times filled with families. The restaurant maintains cleanliness and has been consistently upgrading its facilities to enhance customer experience.
Perfect! The place is clean and tidy. The staff are attentive. We didn't like our burguer (it was dried and cold), however Sofía was extremely efficient and kind, and she replaced it for us. The service was quick and effective.

As an expat from the USA I wanted to try a McDonald's in Portugal to see if it was any different. (Mind you, I had not eaten at a McDonald's in over 25 years.) I ordered the Big Mac meal with a large fries and drink. The Big Mac was exactly as I remember it, the large french fries were very poor quality. They were only lukewarm and tasted like they had been sitting under the warming light too long. If anything at McDonald's excels, it is their french fries which they are famous for. These should have been tossed out and fresh ones made. Very disappointing. The total price was over $10 US.

My experience os based on 3 purchases that me and my family did. Everything was the expected and there was nothing out of the ordinary. Quick attending and nice personal. There was an insignificant error on the attendacy panel but nothing to ruin the experience. In sum, a good lunch

The logistician was in a hurry - the cargo was ready yesterday, but in fact they lie on site. We are about to send it to the ramp, and then they drag it out until the end of the shift, close the office and wait for the morning. The first time we waited more than a day, the second time from Friday to Monday..... There is a pretty good store in the village. It is open on Saturday and Sunday. There is a kitchen with a microwave on the premises. No shower. We did not find a toilet. The parking lot on the premises is small with a slightly crooked entrance. If you come on the weekend, the gates are closed, then not far away on the next street there are local trucks, you can park there. After 6 hours, when my working time was running out, in a conversation with some guy from accounting, I agreed that I was coming in now and that they would have time to load me. The girl who let two cars in ahead of me in the meantime said she had made a mistake. Well, I was told that I have to load tomorrow. So I went to sleep. At 8 a.m. 2 cars were let in ahead of me. And some chick told me that they only received the money today, but I would be charged at 10.00. At 10.15, standing on the scale, I could go to load. There, after loading 25 of the 32 pallets, they were told that they had to produce the goods because they had run out. It's 2 p.m. the next day I can drive, but I have to drive up a very steep driveway from the loading site where it's impossible not to hit the back of the trailer. No to powiedziano mi że mam jutro załadunek. No to poszedłem spać. If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, Bel Piatto is the place to be! Nestled in the heart of the city, this charming restaurant boasts a unique and beautiful decor that likely has an intriguing backstory. The atmosphere is perfect for families, couples, or friends gathering over delicious meals. The menu features mouthwatering options like garlic bread—an absolute must-try—and various pizzas that cater to different tastes.
After a long camino day, I needed some proper food to refuel. I had a pasta with chicken here which was quite tasty and exactly what I needed. Everything tastes fresh. Prices are very reasonable. But most of all the staff is just fantastic. I was happy to talk to the daughter of the owner and then the owner herself too. What lovely, kind and passionate people. As I already said, you guys made my day! Muito obrigado!

Went to dinner with friends and we very much enjoyed Bel Piatto! The decor is beautiful and unique - there's is mostly likely a story behind the concept of decorations and choice of an mouse-trap for the payment plate (of course, it wasn't real). Overall, I love the atmosphere. This is an excellent place for families, couples, and friends to gather and enjoy a great meal. We ordered the garlic bread and it was delicious - not pictured here. But order it!!! Many of the other tables order it too and its awesome. It had cheese baked right into it. I had the pizza; although the people I was dinning with had the pasta dishes (lasagna and chicken pasta). They have a wood burning over for break based dishes like the pizza and garlic bread. Pizza was good but I tasted the pasta dishes...and I should have ordered pasta. I still enjoyed what I ordered but I would order the pasta next time. I will return; when I'm back im Portugal. Highly recommended!!!

If there was the option to put 4.5 stars I would! We came here for Tuna Pizza but they informed us that they didn't have tuna. We got a Vegetarian Pizza instead that was good. The entrée were also really good. Brusceta and Garlic Bread with cheese! The dessert was like amazingly good. I am dying for Tiramisu and this was one of the best I've ever tried. The service is worth of 5 stars, like totally! Thank you for this experience, we are going to see you again!

Really good Italian food, right in the middle of the city, with an excellent view over one of the main streets. Simply one of my favourite restaurants.

What a find, great pizza's, lovely restaurant and garden, with helpful friendly staff. Also had the pleasure of meeting the friendly canadian owner and family, shame we are only here for one night as would definitely revisit.

Very authentic Portuguese restaurant serving basic "fish or meat" dishes from a daily buffet. Also offering French wines from most renowned houses, which you wouldn't expect, but makes it a very worthy experience.

Very quiet location and a warm welcoming Maitre'D. Good food and the wine was good as well. The vegetable rissotto was salty and even the calf spare ribs were salty. A bit on the pricy side.

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Arcozelo, Bom Gosto is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Renowned for its warm atmosphere and exceptional service, this restaurant stands out not just for its inviting space but also for the professionalism of its staff. A must-try dish here is the Bacalhau a Bom Gosto, which boasts incredible freshness and flavor that will leave your taste buds dancing with delight.
This restaurant is the best. It was recommended to us and we are so glad we ate at Bom Gusto in Barcelos. We are two Aussies touring Portugal and are so pleased we found the best charcoal chicken restaurant in Portugal. I know good chicken when I eat it having grown up on a farm. We prefer to eat early and it was no problem for the friendly and helpful staff (our Portuguese is terrible....sorry). Thankyou to our waiter, Francisco for your professionalism, warmth and helpfulness. We chose vegetable soup - full flavour and healthy. Mixed salad was a generous portion and the dressing was perfectly balanced. The frango do charrasco was superb! (Charcoal chicken) We saw them being cooked over hot coals at the front of the restaurant- they smelt so good. And they tasted even better! The chicken was moist and was cooked perfectly. Every mouthful was a delight. I very much enjoyed the saffron rice that came with the chicken and fries. The fries were crispy and tasty and satisfied the male half of our table. We had asked a local where we would find the best charcoal chicken and here it is. Plenty of food for 22 Euros including 2 beers. Great local restaurant that is warm and welcoming. You'll congratulate yourself when you go. Totally YUM!

Nice restaurant that does an amazing barbecue chicken with chips and rice. Didn't have to wait very long to get seated. The waiter was awesome and very and helpful. I spoke a bit of Portuguese which is a bit like Spanish I guess. Highly recommend to go ear there. Very cheap prices too. Amazing!

The Bacalhau à Bom Gosto was extremely delicious, flacking out so fresh it was. Defenitlely the place to stop if you're in Barcelos for the day. Be advised that it gets really crowded and it takes a bit of time to get some service. But I definetly recommend

Visited this restaurant in the past and the food and service was great. But things have changed. Served old fries, service was not good almost like they didn't want us there. Most likely will not return.
