Porto in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Porto, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Porto, Portugal's second-largest city, is home to many architectural treasures. Porto is a charming mix of steep hills and winding streets, flanked by medieval churches and monasteries. While most tourists stick to the well-trodden path of the city's port wine cellars and historic city center, the neighborhoods that lie above the Douro River are well worth exploring, too.
With favorites like Luís I Bridge, Parque de São Roque, and Hard Club, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Confeitaria dos Clérigos and Maus Hábitos so you can get the best taste of Porto while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Sights & Landmarks
The Luís I Bridge is a prominent arched bridge that spans the Douro River, connecting Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. It features two levels, with the upper level accommodating trams and pedestrians, while the lower level is open to various vehicles. Designed by architect Teophile Seyrig, a partner of Gustave Eiffel, this metal arch bridge was completed in 1886.
Absolutely beautiful bridge both being on it and looking at it from below. It is awesome during the day and amazing at night. You can get fantastic views while walking across the top portion of the bridge leading you to and from Gaia. It’s hard to to come see this bridge because it is a pedestrian and train commuter highway!
Ben — Google review
This bridge is spectular!! We walked on the lower portion of the bridge to cross over and there were many people. There were teenagers jumping off of the bridge into the water! It was fun and a little wild. Many people and a fair amount of traffic. We walked on the upper portion of the bridge to get back over and it was extremely picturesque. Even with the sun beaming down, the wind was refreshing and it was lovely. Great spot to take photos. The train runs along here but did not seem to affect our experience. I would 100% recommend walking on the upper portion, but the lower portion was fun too! (Also there is a winery when you cross over that we would have missed if we didn’t walk over on the bottom.)
Rhilee E — Google review
There are many beautiful pictures of the bridge, if you're interested in the architectural structure. My personal pics are not taken from the bridge but from a lovely bar on the river with the bridge to the left of me. Well... I deserved the drink having walked through Porto to get there!
Jaci H — Google review
Amazing view regardless of weather. But just be ready to walk in the crowd. Always busy with tourists and street vendors. Also be careful when train passes by. If you want to get a good picture while on the bridge, look for asian guys with big dslr camera taking pictures of their gf or wife. They’re super skilled and professional photographers😆

Ingenious, elegant, photogenic. These are just a few descriptions of Porto's most famous landmark: the (Dom) Luis I Bridge. In 1879, the Portuguese government launched a competition for the construction of a bridge to replace the 1842 Ponte Pênsil. Due to the economic boom, this bridge, officially called the Ponte D. Maria II, could no longer handle the increased traffic. Of the nine proposals submitted, the design by Belgian engineer Théophile Seyrig, one of two by the Société Anonyme de Construction et des Ateliers de Willebroeck, was selected. (A common misconception about the Dom Luis I Bridge is that it was designed by Gustave Eiffel. This is understandable, as Théophile Seyrig, the bridge's designer, co-founded Eiffel et Cie with Gustave Eiffel in 1868.) Construction began on November 21, 1881, and King Luís I of Portugal opened the bridge named after him on October 31, 1886. Exactly two years later, the Lower Bridge was also opened. The Upper Bridge is 395 meters long and 45 meters high, while the Lower Bridge is 172 meters long and 10 meters high. Until January 1, 1944, a toll was charged for using the bridge. While the Lower Bridge has been used by (motorized) traffic since its opening, the Upper Bridge has been closed to motorized traffic since 2003, and since 2005, only light rail trains of the Porto Metro have run across it (and, of course, the many, many pedestrians who come to admire the bridge). No visitor or resident of Porto can or would want to miss this magnificent feat of civil engineering!
Koen — Google review
Lovely bridge in particular for first time visitors to Porto as you get nice views of the water and areas on both side of the river. Make sure to walk over the bridge both on lower level and upper level as well as both day and night. You get nice and different views in each scenario.
Reza N — Google review
An iconic structure offering panoramic views of Porto. Well-maintained and easily accessible by metro. Perfect for sightseeing and photography. Definitely one of the city’s highlights.

Magnificent bridge for people to walk across the river, and also connects the public transport. Provides a great view from the bridge. But check out the Nice riverside walk too.

Rising 76 meters high, Torre dos Clérigos is a prominent baroque bell tower in Porto. Climbing its 225 steps rewards visitors with panoramic views of the city, including landmarks like Praca da Liberdade, Livraria Lello bookshop, and the Douro valley. This historic structure offers a bird's-eye perspective of Porto and is a must-visit for first-time sightseers looking to orient themselves in Portugal's second largest city.
The climb isn't as bad as it sounds, I was surprised when I got to the top, as it was quite fast to get there. The steps to the top include a stroll around the church area, where you're taking your time and not using much energy. Note there is a water vending machine that only accepts cash, not card, so bring your own water. The views from the top, are 360, breath-taking of the city, and well worth the climb. Would recommend to everyone in Porto.
Arjan V — Google review
Such an impressive tower, not only close up but can be seen even from over the river viewed from the port cellars. The view from the top is amazing, but there is also a lot to see inside the building which I was not expecting - plenty of history and intricate carvings, with lots of detail to go with them. Definitely worth a visit when in Porto - best to get there early - around 10 if possible as the tour groups seem to descend about 11.
Jamie P — Google review
We bought tickets in advance and got in quickly with no wait at all. The security guard made us check our backpack, but we noticed many people inside with backpacks the same size or larger than ours so this was a little annoying. There are many many stairs but it is gradual, as you walk around the building and go bit by bit so it was not tiring at all. Once you get past the church and the main open spaces, you line up to go to the top. This is where it gets fun. There is no organization to how many people go up or flow of traffic. You are supposed to go left to right but the space gets smaller as you go further up the tower. The stairs are cramped and like merging during high traffic time. Once you get to the top, the personal space does not exist but the view- is worth it!! I think this attraction could be improved with better traffic flow and a head count but this may not be realistic. If you are claustrophobic or have problems being sardined in with other people, this is not for you! As well, there is a bathroom in the middle of the building so you have to use it when you see it or you will have to reenter or find a different washroom. This lay out was not great. The views of the city are amazing and you have a panoramic view (if you can squeeze by to see it.) I would recommend but one and done. I would not go again as I have done it!

This is arguably one of Porto’s most recognizable landmarks, built in the mid-18th century by architect Nicolau Nasoni for the brotherhood of clerics. Our walking tour guide mentioned that it is approximately about 75 metres tall, with about 225 stairs to climb up. From the top, you are offered a panoramic view of Porto, the rooftops, the Douro River and the city layout. The tower and the associated church (Igreja dos Clérigos) are fine examples of Baroque style in Portugal. If you’re looking for a “view over Porto” experience, this is one of the best vantage spots. The climb makes is a bit of an activity, but well worth the view.
Esther B — Google review
The chapel is beautiful and was very much active in communion service and I think a few christenings when we arrived for our 2pm slot. We were early as advised and so explored the architecture which is beautiful. When you enter for you allocated slot, you can explore more of the chapel and get some great views of the interior art and architecture. The museum areas on each floor were interesting too. The climb to the top of the tower is not for the claustrophobic. It is narrow and very busy with people going up and coming back down. It’s the same on the observation area half way up and when you get to the top. Overall Nice views at the top, beautiful building, very busy. Glad we done it, but once it’s done it’s done.
Paul M — Google review
Great experience, but happy I went during the low season as I'm sure the stairs to the tower can be quite uncomfortable with more than the number of people they allowed during my visit. Very narrow passages to get up and down the tower. The museum was great and offered a lot of info regarding the architect Nicolau Nasoni.
Stacey B — Google review
This tower-like church has such a beautiful and unique architectural design. Its tall, slender silhouette makes it stand out instantly — truly one of Porto’s most iconic landmarks. Absolutely breathtaking! ⛪✨
YMK W — Google review
It was on my bucket list from beginning when walking in downtown or visiting Porto’s cathedral, it was all the time sticking out from city’s buildings and that was much better to see it from distance. When you get close or visit it, it offers great views and museum from more than 70 meter height plus location on hill. Highest bell tower in Portugal with 360 views

Clérigos Church, a Baroque church in Porto, is renowned for its marble altarpiece and a 75-meter bell tower that has become an iconic symbol of the city. The Torre dos Clérigos, constructed in 1750 by the well-known Tuscan architect Nicolau Nasoni, stands as the tallest building in Porto's historic center. Visitors can climb 240 spiral steps to reach the top of the tower and enjoy panoramic views of the city.
great views from the top of the tower although it is a bit of a climb up narrow and steep stairs as with all olden architecture. i regret i didn't return at night to see the laser show (legs too tired by all the climbing haha). there are exhibitions of ecclesiastical art and the history of the tower inside.

The Igreja dos Clérigos is a beautiful church located in the heart of Porto. It features a stunning collection of sacred art in the Baroque style, and every detail — from the magnificent organ to the richly decorated main altar — is truly impressive. If you’re in good shape, don’t miss the climb up the Torre dos Clérigos; the panoramic view of the city from the top is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend visiting this iconic landmark!

We visited the Clérigos Church in Porto and chose the full experience, including the light and sound show — and it was absolutely worth it. The church itself is stunning, with beautiful architecture and a peaceful atmosphere that makes you pause and look around. The light and sound show added a special touch, bringing the history and details of the church to life in a memorable way. It made the visit feel even more meaningful and immersive. Overall, a truly beautiful place and definitely worth visiting if you’re in Porto.
Andre B — Google review
Very beautiful church! People mostly come here for the tower or taking a picture in front of the main gate. Yet, the church inside is very beautiful, so I would strongly recommend to visit the church as well! It is easy to walk from the city center.
Ekin — Google review
The Igreja dos Clérigos (Church of the Clergymen) is particularly striking for its 75.6-meter bell tower, visible from afar in central Porto. This Baroque church of the Brotherhood of the Clergymen was built between 1732 and 1750 to a design by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni. Construction of the Torre de Clérigos did not begin until 1754 and, like the monumental double staircase at the front, was completed in 1763. The Clérigos was one of the first churches in Portugal to adopt the oval floor plan common in the Baroque style. Since 2015, the church and tower have been open to visitors in the evenings.

Amazing Church. Our Lady of Sorrows, St John the Evangelist, St Andrew Avellino, Ste Anne Virgin Mary and Child Jesus all representations are wonderful. Our visit was coupled with melancolic music coming from outside... so touching moment highly recommended. Visiting the church is free. Small queue at the entrance.

The Clérigos Church and Tower is a landmark in Porto. I recommend booking in advance as it can get very busy. After the Luis The I Bridge, the Clérigos church and tower are the most visited objectives in Porto. Narrow steps lead to the top of the tower. Once there, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Porto.
Cristea A — Google review
Visiting the tower is a great experience. You walk through the church facilities and rooms which display history and info about the building. Then walk up the narrow stairs in the tower. The view at the top probably offers the best views of Porto.

Perched atop Pena Ventosa, Porto Cathedral is a remarkable hilltop Romanesque structure with a fortress-like interior and Gothic cloisters. This historic site, part of Porto's UNESCO World Heritage-listed old town, showcases a blend of architectural styles including Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque. Constructed over several centuries starting in the 12th century, it features an impressive altarpiece made entirely of silver and stunning Portuguese azulejos tiles adorning its cloisters.
The Catedral do Porto is truly a remarkable landmark and well worth a visit. The exterior alone is striking, with its historic architecture standing proudly at the heart of the city, but stepping inside reveals even more beauty. The interior is impressive — clean, well maintained, and full of intricate details that highlight its centuries of history and significance. It’s the kind of place where you can pause, admire the craftsmanship, and feel the weight of the past all around you. One of the best aspects is the accessibility of the visit. The entrance fee is very reasonable at just €3 for adults, which feels like excellent value considering what you get in return. The highlight for me was climbing the tower. From the top, you’re rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view over Porto, offering a unique perspective of the city’s rooftops, the Douro River, and beyond. It’s a perfect spot for photographs and for simply taking in the scenery. Overall, the Catedral do Porto offers both historical charm and unforgettable views at a very fair price. It’s a must-see for anyone visiting the city, whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just want to enjoy one of the best viewpoints Porto has to offer.
Cédrik B — Google review
The cathedral in Porto feels like stepping into another time. It’s one of the main landmarks, on the hill, and you can feel the city’s history all around you. Inside, it’s calm and simple, untouched by time. The view from in front of the cathedral is one of the best in Porto. You can actually see the cathedral from almost anywhere, even from the other side of the city. Entry costs 3 euros. Best to go early before the crowd.
A A — Google review
A beautiful and historic cathedral with an amazing view over the city and the Douro River. The interior is impressive, with a mix of Romanesque and Gothic styles. The cloisters are stunning and definitely worth the small entry fee. It’s one of the best places to start exploring Porto’s old town.
Marta A — Google review
The Sé do Porto is a stunning cathedral in the heart of Porto. Its main altar features an impressive Baroque style, and the interior is beautifully decorated with traditional azulejos (ceramic tiles). The cloister, though rather minimalist, has a quiet elegance and charm. From the top of the cathedral, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the entire city of Porto.
Murillo P — Google review
the most impressive religious building in Porto - no small feat as there are churches with blue tilework on what seems like every corner. also a spot for pilgrims on the Carmino. the religious artwork is exquisite. a climb to the roof will give a great view of the city.
M — Google review
Standing proudly on one of Porto’s highest hills, the Sé do Porto (Porto Cathedral) is a masterpiece of stone and soul — a place where faith, history, and imagination intertwine. Built between the 12th and 18th centuries, it blends Romanesque strength, Gothic arches, and Baroque elegance into one timeless structure. From its terrace, the sweeping views of the Ribeira district, the Douro River, and the Dom Luís I Bridge capture the city’s essence — ancient, dramatic, and endlessly photogenic. Inside, the blue-and-white azulejos and quiet cloisters whisper stories of devotion. But beyond its sacred beauty, there’s a touch of literary magic too. Locals often say Porto feels like Harry Potter, because it was part of J.K. Rowling’s world when she was writing it. During her years living in Porto, the city’s cobbled streets, cloisters, and gothic towers — including the Cathedral — likely helped shape the imagination behind Hogwarts’ enchanting world.
Andreas N — Google review
When you visit downtown, you will not miss it. Well situation on highest place as dominant, with fantastic view to city’s surroundings. After you are done, you can walk on steep stairs down to Ribeira and see it from bottom. Nice view is offered to see cathedral from other side of bridge

I didn’t expect to like visiting this complex as much as I did, it was great! Out of all the religious buildings in Porto, I’d say this one is definitely worth a visit. The cloisters are pretty and you can walk up the tower. The cathedral is small but impressive.

Garden
Jardim do Morro is a hilltop green space in Porto that offers stunning panoramic views of the city and the distant Atlantic. Visitors can reach this picturesque spot by taking a scenic cable car ride or walking across the iconic Ponte de Dom Luis. The park is popular among locals and tourists alike, especially during late afternoon when people gather to watch the sunset over the river.
If you’re visiting Porto, you can’t miss Jardim do Morro. It’s one of those magical spots where everything just feels better especially at sunset. It’s right across the famous Dom Luís I Bridge, on the Gaia side, and the view of the river and the city is absolutely stunning. People usually hang out on the grass with a beer or a glass of wine, listen to live music, or just relax. The vibe is super chill, perfect for taking great photos or simply enjoying the moment. Totally recommended if you want a local, laid-back experience.
Adriana B — Google review
It’s wonderful, especially at sunset. There’s almost always someone playing music and singing, which makes the atmosphere so relaxing. You don’t even need to bring food or drinks – there are always people selling them at great prices. The view of the sunset is absolutely perfect, and it’s worth coming either by cable car or walking across the bridge.
G G — Google review
I went to see the sunset here, and it was truly a memorable experience. The atmosphere was full of life, with so many people gathered to enjoy the same moment—you can really feel the energy and vibe of the place. The view itself is breathtaking, with golden colors spreading across the horizon, making the site both beautiful and unforgettable. I’d definitely recommend coming at least once to witness it for yourself. There are excellent viewing spots on both sides of the railroad, as well as higher up on the hill, each offering a slightly different but equally stunning perspective.
Chen Z — Google review
I went to watch the sunset and it was beautiful. It was my first time, there was live music and people everywhere. I didn’t see the play ground, but people were selling good and drinks. It was September so the temperature dropped, but luckily other drinks were sold to keep you warm (not hot chocolate). Oh and the train drops you off right there too

Fantastic views of Porto from axross the river. Easily accesses by cable car or the tram. Walking across the bridge is also an option. Went there two evenings to hopefully watch the sun set but cloudy on both days. Dont be put off though, the atmpsphere, vibes, live music , restaurants and food stalls should not be missed. Loved every moment.

This is a park you want to experience to watch the sun set over Porto. It is the perfect place to do so, but arrive at least an hour beforehand to get a good spot on the hill. Hundreds of people show up to watch the sunset and it becomes a party with music, vendors, people selling drinks and live bands. The bridge is another great spot with amazing views if the park is too crowded.

Majestic Café, established in 1921, is a Belle Epoque-era coffee shop located in the Baixa district. It is considered the sixth most beautiful coffee shop globally and has been a traditional hangout for artists, musicians, politicians, and intellectuals. The cafe's ornate interior features carved wood, mirrors, chandeliers, marble walls, gilt-framed mirrors, sculptured cherubs and ornate Art Deco decor.
Such a beautiful cafe restaurant. I love it so much. The inside of cafe is so stunning and it’s more like old Hollywood movies, I feel like I’m in a different world. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Their cafe tastes amazing and also the dessert is so delicious. I just wish they could use AC in hot summer days, but overall everything is perfect and for sure next time when I visit Porto I’ll go to there.

Must see stop in Porto. Interior design is so traditional you feel part of a different era inside. Service is fine and fast. You probably have to wait in line for a table but in my case it was no longer than 20 minutes. The menu has tons of options, tea service and desserts. If you dont want to spend as much money maybe its better to come here in the afternoon for coffee, tea or dessert :). Prices are elevated.
Daniela B — Google review
Majestic Café has a great view over Dam Square, making it a great spot to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The beer is good and reasonably priced, but the food is disappointing and not worth the stop if you’re hungry. Service is fair, nothing special but gets the job done. Best enjoyed for a drink with a view rather than a full meal.
Chadi R — Google review
I had dinner at the Majestic Café in Porto. The café is unbelievably gorgeous — both inside and out — and truly worth seeing. Unfortunately, the service was quite disappointing. I ordered a Francesinha, which was just okay, nothing special. The meal was also very expensive for what it was. Overall, I’d recommend visiting the Majestic Café to admire its stunning architecture and atmosphere, but not for the food. It’s perfect for taking pictures, less so for dining.
Murillo P — Google review
came specifically for the vintage look and aesthetic, and it did not disappoint—the vibes are truly nice and cozy. The atmosphere is definitely the main draw here! While I found the prices to be a bit expensive, the service was efficient and prompt even though the café was quite busy. Regarding the food, I personally didn't care for the French Toast, but perhaps that's just a matter of my own taste. Overall, a lovely spot for a coffee break if you appreciate a beautiful, old-school setting
Mohammed A — Google review
We totally knew what we were getting into with this TOURIST cafe - we knew it would be a wait, and expensive, because of the tourist nature of it. However, that was fine - we were on vacation and it really was quite pretty inside. We actually had a lovely time waiting in line outside in the queue, in fact, chit chatting with other tourists. I think we might have waited about 30 mins on a Sunday late morning. It was a photo oppo for sure, but the food was good too. We only had some tea/coffee and dessert items, but it was served quickly, attractively and friendly and it tasted good. It was a "one and done" for us, but I'm still glad we went for a snack.
C M — Google review
Long waiting line but we eventually had our turn. The French Toast which was highly recommended by the waiter wasn’t really good, somewhat dry, not the french toast that we were expecting. However, the waiter was really really good! His service was spectacular, sadly do not recall his name, but we would like to thank him for being so kind and generous. Overall, the experience was nice, given the old history of the cafe, so you have to tick it off the list as a must visit, at Porto.

Casa da Música is a striking 12-floor concert hall and restaurant in Porto, designed by renowned architect Rem Koolhaas. The building's design features flaking paintwork, graffiti, old church buildings, and ceramic patterned tiles that make it visually distinct. Inside, the 48 square feet aluminum interior can accommodate over 3000 people during club nights and offers playful spaces for children and families during the day.
Casa da Música is an incredible building with striking modern architecture – well worth seeing in person. We booked a guided tour and it was definitely worth it, giving real insight into the design and history of the space as well as access to areas you wouldn’t normally see. A must-visit in Porto whether you’re into music, architecture or just looking for something unique to do.

This is an impressive art of modern architecture. Unfortunately I was a bit late to arrive and was not able to visit inside, but the building itself is marvelous. There is a good space for skateboarders outside it, with many people skating and skateboarding around the area.

Crazy architecture and even more crazy when you see how all the details in each venue come together to create the perfect space for each concert. I would recommend buying a ticket for the tour (8 euro). You can just explore on your own pace and use your phone and headphones to be guided through the building by scanning the qr-codes.

Northwest of Porto's historic center stands a much more recent monument: the Casa de Música. This concert hall was designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and was scheduled for completion in 2001 when Porto was the European Capital of Culture. Due in part to its unusual shape, the building wasn't completed until four years later, opening its doors on April 14, 2005. Besides its modern design, the building is also renowned for its exceptionally good acoustics (and rightly so, considering its construction cost €111.2 million). There are two halls: the large Suggia Hall with 1,238 seats and the flexible Hall 2 with 300 seats and 650 standing. Even if you're not attending a concert, a visit to the Casa da Música is worthwhile.

A must-visit for music lovers, especially if you’re into the experimental side! We went to a Friday night “Digitopia” performance in the Sala 2 (a trio featuring percussion, guitar, and piano, among other experimental instruments and great lighting) and it was phenomenal. Definitely more avant-garde than your typical concert experience: think bold soundscapes, unexpected rhythms, and stunning musicianship. If you have a music background or even just a curiosity for the contemporary, you will not be disappointed. Funny enough, our Portuguese tour guide the day before suggested we skip the performance and just do a tour of the building (he said it wasn’t really his style) but I’m so glad we trusted our instincts and booked tickets. The space itself is striking, but it comes alive when you experience a live performance. Highly recommend checking the schedule and seeing something live!

Impressive building, with several modern concert halls. Guided tours weren't available when we visited but there was a "Keyboard Marathon", mini piano recitals by many pupils from various music schools across Portugal, and we could listen to a couple of young, dazzling performers.

Great building. Saw a 12 euro concert and was fantastic. Great way to see the building and enjoy some local music. Watch out for the lady outside after asking for money.

Futuristic structure from Koolhaas that hosts the main concert hall as well as numerous other gathering places. Truly a masterpiece !

Confeitaria dos Clérigos is a charming café located near the iconic Torre dos Clérigos, making it a convenient stop during your 2-day Porto itinerary. The nearby Mercadinho dos Clérigos hosts occasional flea markets, adding to the area's appeal. Visitors praise the café for its strong and delicious coffee, delectable pastries like chocolate croissants, custard tarts, and Portuguese Pasteis de Bacalhau (Salt Cod Croquettes).
I stayed in Porto 5 days and ate in three times. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. The foods are very delicious and worthy.

Very tight space with lots of small tables. It’s a good place to stop by for a little rest (It is air conditioned, so not so hot inside). Had iced coffee and nata for quick snack. They have large selection of bakery and pastries :)

This was actually really great. We stumbled upon this place and didn’t look at the reviews beforehand. I’m glad we didn’t because service was great and all of our pastries were perfect!

This local bar caters mostly to tourist but they offer a lot of different options, including quite a few vegetarian ones. Based on the prices you can quickly identify the items more meant for locals. Just don’t order coffee or cappuccino even though they have milk alternatives and decaf on the menu: it is not what would be served internationally. There are toilets available, but only down a flight of stairs.

We stopped here for coffee on a rainy day but after looking at the menu and smelling the food we decided to have lunch first. We chose from the specials menu which have better prices than the regular menu. Food was delicious and plenty. I had a chicken soup and then a cod dish as main. All was tasty and typical Portuguese. After lunch we had our coffees with pastels de nata and a palmier. The palmier was the only thing I wouldn't recommend but it won't lower my score. Staff was polite and efficient, and the owner, or boss, at the till speaks many languages. A lady next to me made a mistake ordering her meal and they changed it for her with no quibbles. I'll definitely come back here next time I'm in Porto

Great food for a really good prices. Full of local people so you know where to eat. Soup was thickened with flour.. but otherwise amazing. Big portion of fresh fish compared for a price. Kind and helpful staff. Recommend!

We stopped for a quick lunch. We had a ham and cheese on a a croissant that was heated in a Panini press. The croissant with the cheese and ham was absolutely delicious. Then we tried a Bola de Berlim pastry that was fresh and also tasted amazing. I forgot to take photos so the photos are of a ham and cheese wrapped for take away, our was made fresh and brought to the table.

Terrible place. The worst coffee that I ever have was in this place. Cero effort on the making process: too hot, no foam, terrible flavour and terrible presentation. I could manage to take just a sip and pay almost 4 euros for that. The place looks cheap but is not. The owner it’s quite loud and does not make you feel welcome at all. The place is dirty. The only I can rescue is the pastry but is better to order to take away.

Really cool spot with a great view. Was a bit confused about entering/exiting/paying. There was a lot of staff but not a lot of direction. But the food and the vibe in the outside deck was incredible. Really enjoyed my pizza. The flavors were spot on. To-go box for the other half of my pizza was massive but that's solo travel life for ya!

Wonderful pizzas in an atmosphere that’s delightfully chaotic - loud, lively, and full of energy. Service was a little slow, but the staff were warm and friendly, and with pizzas this good it’s absolutely worth the wait. Reservations recommended

A beautiful live, nice and cozy place with an extraordinary life performance sound provided by Rui, the audio engineer. If you like to listen live club music, especially jazz, this place could offer exactly what a music lover need. Prices are decent, seats are comfortable enough and show goes over the midnight hours. One of the Porto's hidden gems.

Somehow hidden on the top level of a parking building, you need to know, or to stumble on this place. We went here for dinner. Had a cocktail, some beers and some pizzas. A nice spot to sit and enjoy on this top floor. The atmosphere is special. You get a great alternative vibe. The food and the drinks are great.

Portuguese restaurant
Cantinho do Avillez - Porto is the latest addition to Chef Jose Avillez's successful restaurant chain, located in the heart of Porto near the river. The vibrant decor creates a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere with retro Portuguese details, blending seamlessly with the city's old streets. This renowned Portuguese chef offers inspiring cuisine influenced by his travels, presented in a casual and modern style typical of his restaurants. It's a must-visit for those seeking traditional yet innovative Portuguese dishes in a lively setting.
We had the cod "Bacalhau a Brás" , vegetarian risotto and dessert. I can definitely recommend the creme brulee. The wine pairing was perfect and the food was amazing. When the food first arrived I thought we would still be hungry but by the end we were completely full. If we had more time I would definitely return.

PRO'S: Cantinho do Avillez offers Michelin star quality food, wine & service with excellent value pricing. After our first visit we returned two evenings later to try delicious Duck, Curry & Rice with a range of starters, all excellent. We rave about 100% Portuguese white, rose & white wines. Beware, no car parking in old city section of Porto. CON'S: Absolutely none. SUMMARY: Cantinho do Avillez delivers quality food & wine worth a special night. We will return.

The restaurant isn't too spacious, but the food we ate was good. Made a reservation and glad we did. Even after finishing dinner, we saw people lining up to go inside. The string bean tempura, and veal curry were really good. The vegetables cooked with the veal dish were really yummy. Cod dish was a bit too simple for us. Would have loved to try the duck!

Had an early dinner at 6pm for a special occasion - I’m pleased to say the service and food were so lovely and quick:) Thank you to the servers for being so attentive and even preparing a beautiful complementary chocolate fondue cake for my boyfriend’s birthday. The most popular dish seems to be the scallops and mushrooms risotto (delicious) and we saw many people ordering the octopus, which looked gorgeous. The only thing I would say is the music is very pop-y and English, it would be much more romantic to have some Portuguese or more fitting music:) Additionally, the tables were quite close together. Overall, a successful experience on our first night in Porto.

Terra Nova is an upscale, intimate restaurant located in Porto, offering traditional Portuguese cuisine with Italian influences. Situated on the Douro River, it provides stunning views of the Ribeira neighborhood and the Port wine cellars in Cais de Gaia. The restaurant is known for its exquisite seafood dishes, including codfish loin with bean stew and rice, as well as oysters.
We chanced by this restaurant from the reviews and wanting a view by the river. The experience was great. The food was prepared with a subtle and balanced taste which was not overpowering, which is unlike what we have tried so far in our trip. We ordered pasta and risotto and they were all great. Fries were freshly cut and fried. Remember to get the dessert.

We made a reservation, mainly because of the location - looking for something with 'decent reviews by the waterfront' and the fact that it was easy to make a reservation online. That said, we got what we were looking for - a really nice experience from our outdoor table, during golden hour/sunset, on a warm evening - that was perfect. Our food was good, nothing to complain about, but it wasn't the best meal we had in Porto, in my opinion. Service was efficient but not overly friendly. You get really close to your table neighbours here - there isn't a lot of space between tables. But the vibe is good because it's such a nice experience watching the people stroll by, seeing the sun set, listening to the buskers, etc. There are a number of restaurants right beside each other in a row, so you have to look carefully for this one. All-in-all, to be able to book ahead online, for an outdoor table, with a view, and solid food, this was a good choice.

The food and wine were all absolutely fantastic, especially the octopus risotto and burrata cheese salad! The seasoning was simple yet timeless. I sat on the terrace, with a fantastic view of the Dom Luis Bridge and the sunset, and musicians playing right in front of us. The staff were also fantastic, especially the manager Mimi, who was so warm and caring, making my trip to Porto even more special. I think this restaurant deserves a higher star rating; it was my favorite restaurant during my stay in Porto. Thank you!

첫날 점심에 도착하자마자 우연히 갔는데 맛집! 먹물 문어 리조또는 강추입니다!!! 친절해요 :) We stumbled upon this place by chance on our first afternoon in Porto — and it turned out to be a real gem. The squid ink octopus risotto was absolutely amazing — rich, deep in flavour, and cooked perfectly. The prawn risotto was also delicious and full of freshness. paired with both Vinho Verde and Port wine, and both were excellent. The staff were very kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. A fantastic find to kick off our trip!

A Wonderful Dinner After the Douro River Cruise We were two women visiting after enjoying a cruise along the Douro River. We didn’t have a reservation and were initially told the place was fully booked. However, after waiting about 10 minutes, we were lucky enough to get a table inside — which was great, especially because it was quite cold outside. (If you’re visiting during high season, we definitely recommend making a reservation!) We ordered a variety of dishes, 1. 6 oysters 2. Burrata salad with homemade pesto 3. Bacalhau à Brás (after the first dishes arrived) 4. Oyster pasta 5. Nero risotto with grilled octopus 6. Shrimp risotto 7. Nuts, cheese & pumpkin jam (+ 8.Fried codfish) While all the dishes were delicious, our absolute favorites were: 2. Burrata Salad We often order burrata wherever we go, but this one was exceptional. The homemade basil sauce complemented the creamy burrata perfectly — a standout dish. 3. Bacalhau à Brás We were intrigued by its unique appearance: finely shredded potatoes topped with a black seafood paste and a raw egg yolk. It turned out to be incredibly flavorful, with an amazing depth of umami from the seafood. 5. Black Risotto with Grilled Octopus The grilled octopus was some of the best we’ve ever had — tender and perfectly cooked. The risotto itself was rich, savory, and simply delicious. We also think the cheese & pumpkin jam listed under desserts would be perfect as a wine pairing or appetizer. Finally, what truly elevated our dining experience was the service by Dante♡♡♡ who was friendly, attentive, and made us feel warmly welcomed. Dante, do you remember the two Japanese women who ordered so many dishes? 😊 Thank you for the wonderful night and unforgettable food!

We shared the mushroom risotto, cod pasta, cod fitters (no photos ate too fast) and prawns. Service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive.

oysters were exclaimed by others to be very good and fresh but we found ours really small, and one of them shrivelled up which makes me worried about freshness. the rest of the dishes were okay but nothing to shout about service was efficient though it was weird that they served main courses and appetisers all at one go, which was not a great idea because the table is tiny. the waiter didn't bother to help arrange as well, just placed the plates on the table and left. the restaurant requires you to put down a credit card guarantee when you reserve. kind of regretted reserving a table here before coming into Porto because when we walked around town, there seemed to be much better and cheaper options

Livraria Lello, also known as Livraria Lello & Irmao, is more than just a bookstore; it's a historical and architectural gem located in downtown Porto. This lavish establishment opened its doors in 1906 and boasts a stunning combination of Neo-Gothic, Art Deco, and Art Nouveau styles. The exterior features intricate woodwork and a large stained glass window with the bookshop's monogram.
Absolutely magical experience! Visiting Livraria Lello on a private after-hours tour is something entirely worth it!!! You will never see something like it before in your life, for the bookstore’s history and soul comes even more alive when you have the privilege to see it on your own with your family or friends! Make sure to take your time , to absorb each unique detail from this 1906 bookstore beautiful presented this time by Sergio. What surprising & enchanting stories fill up this place and even more when it’s team are so passionate about their work. Congratulations Lello Team for the great work.

Livraria Lello is without a doubt a stunning and historic place. The architecture is impressive and it feels like stepping into a storybook. That said, the experience felt more like visiting a tourist attraction than a library or bookstore. When we went, it was extremely crowded, which made it hard to truly enjoy the space. It was difficult to move around, take in the details, or even browse the books comfortably. The staff seemed a bit tired or impatient, possibly because they deal with large crowds all day. Not rude, but not exactly welcoming either. I paid 10 euros just to enter, which can be used as a credit toward a book. But most of the books were priced around 13 or 14 euros, so you still end up paying extra. Yes, you get a discount, but personally I found the books to be overpriced for what they were. If you're really into architecture or literary history, it might still be worth it. But if you don’t go early, expect it to be packed. Personally, I’m not sure I’d recommend it to someone unless they go first thing in the morning and know what to expect.
Ali M — Google review
There’s no doubt — Livraria Lello is one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. The moment you step inside, it’s hard not to gasp: the intricate woodwork, the stained glass ceiling, the sweeping red staircase that seems to float in the air — it’s pure architectural poetry. You can absolutely see why people link it to Harry Potter and call it a must-see in Porto. But — and there’s a big “but” — it’s also one of the busiest, most crowded spots in the city. The line outside starts early and grows fast. Unfortunately, the queuing system isn’t well managed — people often skip ahead, and staff struggle to keep order, which can be frustrating, especially if you’ve been waiting patiently. Once inside, the space is stunning but packed wall-to-wall with visitors, making it nearly impossible to take in the details or snap a photo without a crowd in the background. It feels more like a museum moment than a peaceful bookstore visit. That said, the magic is still real. The craftsmanship of the staircase, the warmth of the lighting, and the sheer history of the place make it worth seeing at least once. The attached bookshop sells lovely editions (including Harry Potter books with special covers) and the entrance fee is redeemable toward a purchase — a nice touch. If you go, arrive early, book ahead, and bring patience. It’s undeniably beautiful, even if the experience is far from calm.
Andreas N — Google review
Very much a tourist trap. Timed ticket entry with long queues outside and busy inside once you get in. Paid €10 ticket which you can use against a purchase of a book. Very striking interior which was supposed to of inspired JK Rowling when writing Harry Potter. Would maybe best getting the first entry time ticket of the day to fully enjoy the interior.
David G — Google review
A bit smaller than I thought, but the place is astonishing. It feels surreal to think about the history that this place has once your inside. The quantities of books in different languages it’s impressive, and the people working in there is very kind and helpful. We went in late on a Monday, so it was not too crowded, but I’ve heard it gets pretty busy and can get out of control with the amount of people because the place is small. My recommendation is plan to go on a less busy time (use Google maps as a guide) and buy your ticket in advance, then enjoy the experience. If you buy a book, the entry ticket gets deducted from the price which is great!
Manuel G — Google review
The wait is long, the inside is crowded but beautiful. A small bucket list item for us and it was worth the wait. Make sure to buy tickets online and if you want to skip the wait and plan to buy a book buy a gold ticket! Books are available in multiple languages so no need to worry about not being able to read!
Adam T — Google review
I was SO disappointed. :( You have to pay for a ticket to get in, and that money can be applied to a book if you want to purchase one. The problem is that the selection of books is so sad. Maybe if they stocked books that people would actually want to read then they would have more sales. I’m not usually this negative about stuff, but this was the worst tourist trap I’ve ever experienced. Obviously the staircase was beautiful, but this small and crowded store was a ripoff.
Tara G — Google review
The Lello Bookstore is housed in an outstandingly beautiful building in Porto. It feels as if a magical realism novel has come to life and transformed into architecture. The staircase and ceiling are absolutely incredible — true works of art. As a bookstore, however, the selection is quite limited, with only about 5 to 10 book titles available in different languages. Still, it’s definitely worth the visit for the atmosphere alone. Make sure to buy your ticket in advance — it’s a must!

The Palácio da Bolsa, also known as the Stock Exchange Palace, is a grand 19th-century building in Porto that celebrates the city's prosperous merchants. This neoclassical landmark was once the headquarters of the Porto Trade Association and later housed the Portuguese stock exchange.
Such a wonderful place to visit in Porto. It’s so beautiful, every part of this palace is so magical. And of course the gold room is my favorite it’s magnificent. The lady who works there as a tour guide is so nice and also she’s so funny. She explained to us everything with a funny story and the people laughed and everybody had a good time. The other things I liked about it was the carpet, they had so many Persian carpets in different rooms and they were so colorful and pretty. I loved this place, so if you are in Porto you have to visit the palace. You will love it.

💯% worth it! If you’re questioning ‘is it worth it?’, it most definitely is! It’s a 30 minute guided tour - you’ll come to understand why, but it’s absolutely phenomenal! Thank you for the experience. I would recommend booking tickets early. The great thing the Palácio do is conduct the tours in various languages, therefore slots get booked up pretty quick, so my advice would be to book early/prior. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, saying he had only been there 3 weeks. An excellent guide. Thank you 💫

An amazing building steeped in history that is still being used today! Tight, but informative 30 minute guided tour was worth it and I would recommend you buy the tickets ahead of time. Make sure to take lots of pictures and absorb all you can. My personal favourite was the Arabian room, simply for its grandeur and craftsmanship. I highly recommend it if YOURE in Porto!

Stunning range of architecture and design across a series of rooms. The Arab inspired room was particularly beautiful. Note though that it is a whistle stop tour with not much time to linger. The tour guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, but time constraints probably meant we missed out on some of the background. Still worth the visit though.

beautiful palace constructed across the reign of the last king and the beginning of the republic, never a royal residence but looks fit to be one. the tour was amazing and loved the guide -- a bit pricier than other attractions but that's being a tourist for you. buy tickets in advance and you might get some discount.

Great! We arrived at 09:05 on a Sunday without having bought an online ticket (wasn’t available the night before). There was no queue and we could immediately buy a ticket for the 30-minute guided tour for the slot at 09:15. Our guide was great, very enthusiastic and clear. What a beautiful place this palace is, with a rich history. Only downside would be that the 30 minutes felt a bit too rushed. We wanted to listen to the guide but also look around a bit (there were some rooms that weren’t explicitly shown by the guide, but that you could enter if you wanted) Doing both at the same time wasn’t always possible. 5-10 minutes extra would be great… but I do understand that they’ve put a time limit on the tours. Our group consisted of about 20-25 people and that was perfect to still enjoy all the different spaces, listen and see the details. You would not want the space to be packed with people just hanging around. I would highly recommend to visit this beautiful place. The pictures speak for itself :)
Lauren — Google review
We took the 30 minute tour in English of this palace and it was very interesting and informative, but maybe didn’t do justice to the interesting history of this landmark. The architecture is pretty amazing and the famous blue room was spectacular to see. Our guide was very friendly and gave a good presentation, but the tour seemed a bit hurried. Spending more time here would be great. I would definitely recommend seeing this unique palace while you’re visiting Porto.

Mercado do Bolhão is a historic, two-level market housed in a neoclassical building that opened in central Porto in 1917. It has become an iconic city landmark with its charming faded grandeur and family-run stalls offering fresh produce, meats, fish, sausages, flowers, and local crafts. Visitors can enjoy a multisensory experience as they wander through narrow corridors filled with colorful sights and enticing aromas.
This market was absolutely excellent! The variety of food on offer is incredible everything from dried and fresh foods to vibrant fruits, drinks, and even plants. There were plenty of samples to taste, which made the visit even more enjoyable. It’s a real feast for the senses and a great spot to explore. Definitely a must-see, and a perfect place to stop for a delicious lunch. Highly recommended!

It’s a huge market that has everything from meat, fish, wine, and souvenirs to artist market. It’s directly connected to the train station so you can access it quite easily. It definitely has an element of tourist trap with certain dishes and goods, but I also saw plenty of locals simply grocery shopping. I personally loved the seafood and the ham. They also have insanely cheap glasses of wine so be careful if you’re going to be drinking! But it’s a must visit place for me in Porto

From the moment you step inside, you are surrounded by stalls offering fresh fish, fragrant olives, local olive oils, fresh fruit, fruit juices, meats, and brilliantly packed sardines that make perfect gifts. We purchased some olives and a bottle of white wine and enjoyed them right there in the market. Walking around with a glass of crisp wine while tasting the olives and chatting with vendors felt both authentic and relaxing. The fishmongers and food stalls are a delight to explore, and you will also find stores selling handicrafts, so it really has a little bit of everything. What stood out most to me was the balance between tradition and modern comfort. You get the energy of a traditional Portuguese market, but in a clean, organised, and welcoming space. Whether you come to taste, shop, or just soak in the atmosphere, Mercado do Bolhão is worth your time.

Situated very close to Bolhao metro station, this place is on the itinerary of every tourist. It is the ideal place to pick up souvenirs of porto, wine, olive oil, candied fruits and cute tiny boxes of sardines. There are food stalls selling freshly made snacks, vegetable vendors selling out of season fruits and vegetables, plant nursery stalls, and interesting looking chocolates packed in attractive boxes. A nice leisurely walk in the hall browsing through the goodies is enough to pass a couple of hours. There are restaurants on the top floor that stay open till late.

Good market, lots of food. Bought some souvenirs for the family here. For tourists(just like me) visiting, please be watchful of the closing time. Google says closing time is 8pm but when we got there at 7pm and everyone was already closed up. The restaurants on the top floor really does close around midnight so thats good. Had that pasta made in a cheese wheel. Best eaten warm.

A lovely market in Porto with plenty of food options and some amazing flower bouquets available. It’s also a great spot for souvenir shopping. Highly recommend stopping by!

It Is not just a market place, it is a social meeting point. You can buy there just about anything, as well as taste salty and sweet stuff, have a drink and chat with others, while listening to piano performances. Better than in Lisbon.

This is an amazing market set over two levels of a square building with an open entrée. There are two galleries that run around the edges which have shops selling jewelry, ceramics, handbags, and other examples of Portuguese cross friendship. The bottom level is dedicated to foods, beverages, flowers, and other produce, including meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables. This is a fantastic building and worthy of a visit.

The Chapel of Souls, also known as the Chapel of Santa Catarina, is a famous church in Porto renowned for its stunning exterior adorned with blue and white tiles depicting scenes from the lives of saints. The church, dating back to the late 18th century, gained attention when its facades were covered with over 15,000 tiles portraying the lives of St. Francis and St. Catherine of Alexandria in 1929.
Have you ever been to organ place in the church? Well, in this church you will be there and at much more uncommon places as organ, balconies and very top of the church. And the story of the hidden house is very impressive per se. Very friendly people working there made us feel as very warmly welcomed guests ❤️ And of course dont forget to enjoy beautiful tiles outside - they are hard to oversee when you finish the tour. We enjoyed a lot and very recommend a visit there.

As you reach the top of the shopping Street, you will find this amazing chapel. Unfortunately, it was not open to see the interior at the time of our visit, but the exterior was well with the trek up the hill. Blue tiles on two sides of the building are beautiful examples of the practice. The tiles to pick scenes from the lives of the Saints and our beautiful. Though there are many tourists posting in front of the building and pictures are a must, take some time to look in detail up close at the artistry of the tile making process. It is truly an astonishing work of art.

Very neat little church! The tile work on the outside is amazing and so is the inside! In a very busy tourist area so it’s easy to stop in and check out! Would reccomend if you are walking by or are just interested in churches. For me, it was worth the walk and we were able to check out the market right around the corner after. Great area for this beautiful church to be admired by many!

Although Capela das Almas is a relatively new church, it boasts one of the most beautiful façades of any church in Portugal. The blue azulejos add a truly authentic Portuguese charm to the building, making it a wonderful sight to behold. It’s definitely worth a visit!

I visited Porto with its stunning views. Ventured past the chapel of souks accidentally, stunning to look at great surrounding areas with pubs and lively square near by and a lovely fountain outside the chapel. Unfortunately I didn’t get to go inside.

Tucked into the bustling heart of Porto, the Chapel of Souls (Capela das Almas) is one of the city’s most breathtaking landmarks — and without doubt, one of its most Instagrammable spots. Covered from top to bottom in brilliant blue-and-white azulejos, the chapel tells stories of saints and faith through 18th-century tiles that shimmer under Portugal’s Atlantic light. Each panel feels like a painting come to life — a visual hymn that draws both photographers and pilgrims alike. For travelers, it’s a dream backdrop — every angle a composition of history, color, and artistry. For believers, it’s a place of quiet devotion and reflection, still used regularly by those practicing Christianity who stop by to light candles and pray amid the flow of city life.

Very unique chapel for its exterior tiles cover. Located in downtown, on shopping street Santa Catarina. It cannot be missed as it attracts many people and it is surrounded by many other historical attractions around. It is just hindered meters from Mercado do Bolhao

A stunning chapel covered with iconic blue and white tiles (azulejos) depicting biblical scenes. Located right in the center of Porto, it’s impossible to miss. The inside is just as peaceful and beautiful as the outside, making it a perfect spot for a short break and to admire the art. There’s usually no crowd or long waiting time, so it’s definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended

Shopping mall
Business center
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Porto along Rua de Santa Catarina, ViaCatarina Shopping is a delightful destination that seamlessly blends shopping and dining. This charming mall captures the essence of traditional Portuguese architecture, offering an inviting atmosphere for both locals and tourists. While it may be smaller than some of its counterparts on the outskirts, it boasts a curated selection of popular brands like Levi's, H&M, and Fnac.
This shopping center is absolutely fantastic! It features four spacious floors that are very well laid out, making it easy to explore without feeling crowded. All the major brands are here, so whether you’re shopping for fashion, electronics, or beauty products, you’ll find what you need. The food court on the top floor is a real highlight great variety, lots of seating, and a vibrant atmosphere. All in all, this is a top-notch shopping destination. Highly recommended!
Duncan A — Google review
I visited this shopping centre to see the upstairs where you can find an unusual food hall. They recreated a kind of small town inspired by Porto where you can find food shops like Burger King or Poke House for example. Around you can find tables to sit. The ambiance is unique and is worth seeing even if you’re not planning to eat here. The shopping centre itself is nice but nothing special.
Melanie M — Google review
It is a multi-floor shopping mall, which has clothing and fashion, shoes, cosmetics, art, printing and copy, and, above all, food court. Food court has different types of local flavor, but it also has other international or foreign dishes, such as Brazilian-style BBQ. Large U.S. fast food store chains, such as McDonald and Burger King are also in the mall. There are toilets at every floor, and air conditioning is well provided for the mall. Price listing is clear on display for any sale merchandise and service.
Ben H — Google review
This shopping center delivers exactly what you would expect from a modern retail destination. The overall atmosphere is pleasant, with a clean and well-maintained environment that makes browsing and walking through the different levels comfortable. One of the standout features is the wide variety of stores, offering options that cater to different tastes and budgets, so whether you’re looking for fashion, electronics, or specialty shops, you’re likely to find what you need. The upper floor deserves a special mention, as it hosts a selection of restaurants and cafés in a space that is thoughtfully designed. The décor adds a welcoming touch, and the layout makes it enjoyable to sit down for a meal or a coffee break between shopping. It creates a nice contrast to the more traditional retail atmosphere on the lower levels. That said, one drawback is the limited availability of public seating areas on the lower floors. Shoppers who want to take a quick break without heading upstairs may find this slightly inconvenient. Still, the overall experience remains positive, and the center succeeds in combining practicality with a touch of style. It’s a reliable and enjoyable place to shop, dine, and spend time.
Cédrik B — Google review
If you’re seeking a North American-style interior shopping mall, this place seems to be the perfect fit. Despite its small size, it boasts a food court on the top floor, complete with clean bathrooms. The mall exudes a clean and modern ambiance, making it an ideal respite from the scorching heat or torrential rain. It’s also a great place to stop over for those who find solace and joy in browsing and shopping.

Gruta is a charming and smaller restaurant in Porto that offers incredible food. Visitors have raved about the mushroom ravioli and knifefish dishes, as well as the bisque with lemongrass flavor. The restaurant is known for its exceptional service, ambiance, and perfectly paced meals. It's located in the central shopping area of Porto, making it a convenient spot after exploring the city.
My daughter had researched this restaurant as a treat before starting the Camino Portuguese. Everything was flawless, from the location, to the friendly, helpful staff and, of course, the delicious food. The plates were perfectly executed and the food was amazing. If I am lucky enough to return to Porto and I will definitely make a bee line back to Gruta!

Truly excellent. This was by far our favorite meal of our entire trip. I recommend making a reservation. The food was remarkable, especially what they do with the red shrimp! FANTASTIC!! Staff was incredibly friendly and professional. We had an amazing time, I would highly recommend this place.

We have a Wonderful dinning experience at Gruta last night. From the reservation to the foods and main dinning room atmosphere, everything is great. From Appetizer to main course to deserts, they are presented excellently. The seaweed with fermented butter match well with focaccia. Low temperature cooked Scallop SCALLOP, TUCUPI & TANGERINE are very tender. We order the CARABINEER RICE and FISH MOQUECA. Both are exceeding our expectation. For deserts, we were very full so we ordered the Gelato with wasabi. OMG, the sweet, spicy and tangy complex but smooth gelato are the best one I have ever tasted . The dinning experience at Gruta put a perfect ending to conclude our tours at Porto. We definitely will come back whenever we come back to Porto.

Dining at Gruta was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The meal began with prawns sautéed with cashews, garlic, and chili. It was a perfectly balanced starter that was both aromatic and full of flavor. For the main course, I enjoyed grilled croaker served with a rich coconut milk and dendê oil sauce, accompanied by basmati rice. Mixing in the cashew nuts and toasted cassava flour added a wonderful texture and depth to each bite. To finish, the wasabi ice cream was a surprising highlight. It was unique, refreshing, and incredibly flavorful. Gruta’s Michelin recognition is clearly well deserved, and reservations are highly recommended to secure a table at this outstanding restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

We were visiting Porto for a few days and Gruta was so good we ate there twice. The food is innovative without being contrived, resulting in interesting and delicious dishes. The menu is small but perfectly formed with an enough choice for everyone. That is if you like fish as there are no meat options on the menu. There is also an excellent selection of Portuguese wines all reasonably priced. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service friendly and attentive without being in your face. If we were staying longer we’d go a third time.

Wonderful. Reservations highly recommended. This smaller but comfy establishment serves up amazing seafood dishes. The staff are very professional and accomodating. Decor is simple, clean and inviting. Our server offered up some suggestions and we opted for 2 starter plates which comforted our hunger perfectly. The clam dish and prawn plate coupled with a green salad fit our tastes perfectly. The suggested red wine paired nicely with the formentioned. Well worth the visit if you enjoy seafood.

As described by other guests, the ambiance is quite lovely. From the entrance way to the different dining areas this was all very aesthetically pleasing. I had read other reviews before making our reservation and was really looking forward to our evening here. Positives—friendly staff, beautifully plated and presented food, dishes were spaced out so we didn't feel rushed in any way and had the time to really taste and enjoy the food. Unfortunately a few things I would have appreciated was if the music was turned down it was way too loud for a fine dining establishment. We had a very hard time hearing and understanding our waitress (because of the volume of the music) We had to constantly ask her to repeat herself. It certainly didn’t help that our waitress was so so so soft spoken and spoke almost in a whisper-I felt bad for the number of times we had to say pardon me. The food was beautiful very beautiful but we both felt that it was just ok in taste. In fact I would even go as far as to say it was a bit anticlimactic. Portions are small, which we expected as this is considered a fine dining restaurant. We just felt it just didn’t hit the mark for us. Would we return? Probably not. Sorry:(

Padaria Ribeiro, one of the oldest bakeries in Porto with a 146-year history, is renowned for its delectable croissants and pastries. The bakery's signature amanteigado croissant undergoes a slow leavening process and is finished with a sugar syrup while still warm, creating an irresistibly sweet treat.
This is my absolute favorite bakery. Everything I get is so delicious. I can’t say it’s the most affordable place but it’s definitely well worth it. Especially the carrot cake is incredible. I would get it every single day if it fit my budget just a bit more. 10/10

Recommend the bakery, not so much the cafe. If you want to eat there, do not make the mistake of ordering from the cafe menu they give you! (Limited options, cold and unappealing pastries). Instead, take a picture of the pastry you want from the bakery and show it to the waiter. I didn’t realize they had this option until I overheard a staff member telling another customer :(
Edlyn P — Google review
Bakery with many options! We ordered a variety of the pastries to eat in. Weirdly none of the savoury pastries are heated up, so everything was cold and honestly not very good. The carrot / ginger cake and chocolate cake were the best things we got. Might be better to order as a takeaway to heat up at home.

unfortunately highly would not recommend the mango smoothie. it was 4.40€, but it was extremely bland and did not have any milk or cream (isn’t that what a smoothie means?). it tasted like a little bit of mango and a lot of water. pastel de nata was just ok, can get better elsewhere

I think it's the only club in Porto capable of hosting some of the greatest bands. However, it has audio feedback trouble almost every time a louder band plays, preventing the band from hearing the audience. And both concert spaces have ventilation troubles which they could not fix for years and years. It's always very hot and stuffy inside. Hard Club could do better.

MISTU is a unique restaurant with its own distinct concept, decor, and menu. It aims to blend global cultures with local elements, offering an experience that is less culturally imposing than other restaurants. The quality of the dishes is exceptional, and the space is divided into two floors, with the upper floor providing a more reserved and calm atmosphere.
Had an amazing meal here the atmosphere was really good. There was a small mix up with the pricing of a kid's meals however they promptly refunded it. You will definitely need to book in advance they were extremely busy. Everything was amazing from the ceviche salmon, octopus and sea bass. However the butterfish fish really stood out
Peter B — Google review
Food overall was actually quite good, but was it overpriced? yes for what it is it’s quite expensive because the dishes are small and they recommend 3 dishes to share between two (i’d go for 4 if you are hungry). The service wasn’t great either, no attention to detail (wiping the table when food was dropped between dishes, pouring our own wine and water, long time between dishes, not changing our plates between dishes so having sauce from the dish before left etc.), and overall i’d say the atmosphere is not the most ambient. Lots of room for improvement

A very fun restaurant, where reservation is highly recommended. High level of service with great and tasteful food options. Single persons are seated at the bar, which is overall a fun experience, despite the interior being more beautiful. I had the ceviche (white fish) (9/10) and the white fish (9.5/10). Also got an appetizer and some bread with my drink. Would go back!

This is the most elegant restaurant a beautiful space created by some genius we loved this place . We sat on the ground floor in the main bar area and loved the buzz of cocktails being shaken and the flying servers delivering food to all corners. Service is positive upbeat and confident . There is a set menu or as we did you can choose three or four mains ala carte to share . Scallops with butternut were pillow soft sweet and succulent. Duck salad was full of yuzu citrus delicious made your pallet zing and generous. Grilled octopus was sweet tender and perfect with its bean stew . There is a good selection of of wines by the glass we stuck to local Douro valley wines and the were delicious ( see pics ) loved this place highly recommend.

Fantastic food, amazing service. Couldn't fault our meal here, somewhat more pricey than other restaurants nearby, but a really good menu, cooked well and a bit different (in a good way). The 'sharing' concept here is effectively to choose 3 - 4 dishes between 2, with the cold ones coming first, makes it interesting and enjoyable. Everything we had was a good size and enjoyed.

Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, located in the heart of Porto, is a picturesque 19th-century garden offering enchanting fountains, meandering paths, and breathtaking views of the Douro River. Originally designed by German landscape architect Emil David as part of the Palacio de Cristal complex, these gardens are a haven for romantic strolls amidst diverse flora and classified trees.
a beautiful park with lots of peacocks running around! its my first time seeing them spreading their wings in such close distance, gorgeous! there are other places where you can get a magnificent view of the city and the river. i will suggest to go early in the morning to avoid the crowd.

The day I visited this Garden they had a book selling event which was amazing! The garden is peaceful and it's attached to the Super Bock arena. There is a great lookout spot and tower with great views of the river. And lots of space to have a picnic or just relax with a book. Lots of birds walking around and they are super friendly. Nice place to take a few hours and relax and take in the view

Lovely big gardens for walking and relaxing. We had to download a pdf map to find out what was there and where different viewpoints were. Has a lot of potential but felt it needed a little TLC in places. Whilst it was heading towards autumn it would benefit from a cafe. There was a place selling the usual ice creams. Beautiful views from the vantage points. Great to see peacocks, hens, cockerels and ducks happily mingling with visitors! Plenty of seating. Looked like preparations were underway for a concert but nothing to say what it was. You can climb the 360 dome if you wish. We didn’t go inside so I cannot comment on the facilities inside. A craft market was on during our Saturday visit. Toilets available.

This is a must see place if you are coming to Porto! The gardens are so big you can easily get lost, and the best thing is each garden leads to another garden. But the best thing about this is the view od Porto. From here you can see the whole city and you can watch one of the most beautiful sunsets in your life! Especially with the view over the bridge. It’s a perfect spot for doing picnics and hanging out with friends outdoors. Also, not as crowded as I expected it to be.
Nikolina K — Google review
What I loved: The gardens offer beautiful panoramic views over the Douro River, the city of Porto and bridge. It’s a relatively calm green space compared to the busier tourist spots of Porto. You’ll likely spot peacocks and other free-roaming birds, which adds charm to the experience and there’s no entrance fee for the gardens proper. What I did not like: The “palace” part (the original glass and iron palace) no longer exists and the building on the site now is a modern arena of "Super Bock". If you’re expecting lush flower-beds everywhere or a manicured botanical garden, you may find it a bit less interesting in these aspects. Aim to spend at least 1–2 hours, but if you relax, picnic or wander all thematic sections, you could easily spend 2–3 hours. The best time to visit is on a clear day around late afternoon for the views over the river and then sunset. Also spring/summer when plants are more in bloom. The garden also has good photo-spots that overlook the river. Im summary, the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal is a very good “green break” stop when in Porto. They don’t have the grandeur of a major royal palace garden, but they offer great views, and a relaxing atmosphere. If you allocate time and go with modest expectations (not expecting overly manicured perfection everywhere), you’ll likely enjoy it. If however, you have a very tight schedule in Porto, you don't lose much by missing it.

Great views. Very clean and safe. You can joy this urban gem and relax with chickens and peacocks. You certainly will like to climb the tower and have a 360° view of the city. There's a lot of gardens there, with fountains and places to rest.

So surprised to see that the entry of my (small) dog 🐶 was refused by security in this beautiful park. Though I strolled my dog with its leash, the only explanation that were given to me when I questioned the surprising rule was that it is to better protect the other animals (ducks and blue peacocks). So here in Porto , there is no part of this huge park that is accessible to dogs which is certainly not understandable. I think that you could amend your policies and allow a minimum playground to be opened for dogs. Thanks for your further consideration.
GILBERT P — Google review
Firstly, don’t get this confused with Palacio da bolsa. Both are very different and at different parts of the city. On google, this place is highly rated. When you get there the initial garden looks very small, however walk further behind the Super Bock dome and you enter a whole new world of gardens and views of Porto. There are a lot of inclines and declines, bear this in mind if you have kids. Some stunning views. It’s absolutely free too. Worth a visit if you’re in the area, but you won’t be missing anything if you don’t. If you’d like to see exclusive airiel views, head over to my YouTube channel : TheEyeInTheSky.

It's highly recommended for families, with interactive exhibits, characters in ancient costumes, and even a boat ride. Purchasing tickets online is advised for cost savings. The museum brings to life the perilous voyages of 15th-century Portuguese explorers through detailed exhibitions and animations.
Pretty great place to visit with little ones. A fun little museum experience at the beginning and then you walk through what looks like an inside of a ship. The highlight is a 20 min little boat ride that takes you on a journey of how the Portugese explored the world. My 4 year old loved it so much. The ticket is a little pricey but it's worth a visit.

The world of discoveries showcases the portuguese explorers and their journey during the days for colonizing different places and starting trade routes from Asia and Africa to Europe. They have a beautiful collection of boats used and the maps of the old world. They have a boat ride which takes you to different places they went, but the only downside was that their audio speakers were not working which was supposed to tell you about different places as the boat takes you there. The staff there is also very friendly and helpful.

Awesome experience available in every language. We had the german walkthrough. The history of Portugal in a really easy to understand way and with the inhouse water river experience it's a great go-to if you are in Porto. Learned some new things evem after 10 years in Portugal on a regular basis.

This Museum blew us away — we didn’t expect it at all. The tour lasts about an hour. In the first part of the Nuseum, we were thrilled by the interactive globes and the very dynamic history of cartography. In the second part, we had no idea that we would be riding a boat for 22 minutes through a series of rooms, each representing a part of Portugal’s history of discoveries since the 15th century (as they carefully call it “our contacts with other civilizations”). That boat ride is more geared towards children, but you can clearly see the great effort that went into it. It’s also an unexpectedly large space. The entire Museum is highly recommended, specially for kids but it was really great fun for us adults, too.

We visited as part of a cruise port call. We had booked a time slot but got there 39 min early but were still allowed entry. This was helpful as I had hungry kids and the next stop was lunch. My advice is to go after a meal so you don't need to rush through 😂. The first part shows different artefacts and snippets of information about them. I would have spent more time there but my kids wanted to go on the boat. I think you could easily do 30-45 min here if you're not skimping through. The boat ride which shows the different continents and people the Portuguese explorers met was the highlight! The narration is good and offered in various languages. The scenes are very well made and quite realistic. I personally enjoyed this and would recommend it but just follow my tips on not visiting on an empty stomach so you can go at a more leisurely pace especially with kids!

A really cool tourist attraction that was better than we thought. Educational and entertaining! We loved our visit so much I made a video and put it on you tube. You can check it out by searching for 'world of discoveries' to see what it's like. Enjoy!

It was cool with the boat ride, although we got a German narrative, even when I asked for an English. The rest of the exhibition was a bit meh.

Shopping mall
Shopping Cidade do Porto, also known as Bom Sucesso, is a modern and airy shopping mall in Porto. It offers a wide range of shops including designer brands, upscale boutiques, and popular retailers like Zara, Prof, and United Colors of Benetton. In addition to fashion stores, the mall features shops selling various products from foodstuffs to telecommunications. Visitors can take a break at the on-site restaurants or catch a movie at the cinema halls.
It’s fine, it’s a shopping mall in Porto, you get less than what you pay for as per usual, but it does what it says on the tin.

Lovely airy mall, that has all the usual suspects for shopping, the Frioz, supermarket is also worth a visit, for good value grocery needs.

It’s a less populated shopping centre but it doesn’t have many options for shopping or eating.

Good selection of different foods Asian, American, Portuguese. Along with a variety of alcohol and Desserts. A good stop when you first arrive and are not settled in. Was disappointed with Tacos and tequila. Was unable to provide everything on the menu and a lack of stock and cleanliness.

Been here the first time a week ago. The shopping mall is quite big but not so many people inside. You must wear mask to enter the place. There is a restaurant in the ground floor. The place is clean and spacious.

Family restaurant
Mercado Bom Sucesso is a vibrant indoor market that has been recently remodeled and modernized. It offers 67 stalls and shops, as well as office space and an 85-room hotel. Visitors can browse through a variety of gourmet offerings from Portugal and around the world, then enjoy their purchases at communal tables or take cooking classes. The market also hosts regular events such as live music and cooking demonstrations.
If you like the Time Out Market in Porto then this place is next level. The selection of food is exceptional, the quality great and it's really very good value for a place with such a classy atmosphere. It's very easy to get to on the Metro and should be an absolute must-do for any visitor to Porto.

Mostly locals so most menu weren’t in English. Thankful for pictures and most service stuff speaks English. We enjoyed the Bifana and suckling piglet, both served with chips, and of course coffee with 2 chocolate balls!

An amazing food court for whenever you want to eat. The selection of food here is amazing with an adjoining super market too. If you're not sure of what to eat, you will find something here. We liked the local bakery goods of the pasta del nata, had francesinha, enjoyed the cod as well as porto wine. Honestly a great place to eat different food.

It’s a little out from where the usual tourists spots are, but if you make it here, you will be rewarded. Great ambience, great foods, really local and fairly priced.

Market is a great spot to try many different cuisines. Chill atmosphere and most people were super friendly. Our new friend Hugo at the bar gave us some great recommendations for places to go throughout the city!

It’s a less touristy version of Time Out Market, the atmosphere is modern and with lots more locals here. Here, you’ll find an endless parade of authentic Portuguese dishes, from flaky pastries and chocolate cakes to perfectly poured port, beers, and savoury petiscos. We dove straight into Mariscaria’s seafood platter: tender crab claws, plump shrimp, mussels in a fragrant broth, and that irresistible bread-and-crab-dip couvert. Every bite was fresh, briny, and generously portioned—yet the prices stayed very reasonable. Whether your group can’t agree on appetizers or everyone’s craving something different, this is the perfect spot to graze, share, and discover new favourites together. Visited on a Monday at 1pm, seems to be a fave lunch spot amongst office workers.

Restaurant
Taberna Santo António is a charming, rustic restaurant located in Porto, specifically at Passeio das Virtudes. Run by the welcoming couple Mr. Vitor and Mrs. Herminia, this family-owned eatery offers a cozy atmosphere where everyone is treated like family. The menu features mouth-watering Portuguese comfort food such as bifana, a delightful combination of tender pork meat and flavorful beer-based sauce in a soft traditional bun.
Decided on this booking through trip advisor Definitely book in advance as it fills very quickly. Small quirky Portuguese bistro with authentic Portuguese cuisine We went for the pork belly and pork cheek with rice and potato’s that was divine and so tender to cut Desert was the chocolate mousse that definitely didn’t disappoint This paired with a few cold superbocks marked the perfect start to a Saturday evening. Will definitely recommend to anyone who decides to holiday in Porto

After reading all the positive reviews and judging by the queue to get in, I had quite high expectations. It turned out to be ‘ok’ but I wouldn’t rave about it. We visited for lunch and at a busy time which probably had an effect as service was pretty slow and I didn’t think the food was anything special. Reasonably priced to be fair. My daughter had the sardines and rice in tomato sauce, I had the pork in breadcrumbs layered with cheese, fried egg and curry sauce. Best part was the crème brûlée. Fries were quite greasy…nice atmosphere and friendly staff but probably not one I’d queue and wait for again.
Lisa M — Google review
A cozy tavern with a real homey atmosphere. If you come with a group, it’s best to book a table in advance, but if you’re alone, there’s always a spot at the lively bar. The food is amazing – the meat was so tender it literally fell off the bone. Desserts were also excellent, especially the chocolate mousse and crème brûlée. The staff work very quickly, and the manager, who speaks five languages, makes the atmosphere even more welcoming. Definitely recommend this place!

absolutely great experience. The atmosphere, the place and the most important - the food were fantastic! we ordered 3 dishes and we didn't expect that they will be so big! Real Portuguese food, fresh ingredients and very good prices! I recommend for 100 %, especially the meat stew with beans. This lunch made our day and the full impression of local food. Thanks for your work guys!
Olga S — Google review
We had heard great things about this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try! The food was good, though quite heavy with very large portions. It might just be that we didn’t choose the best dishes for the season—on a very hot summer day, the stew-based menu felt a bit too rich, and we couldn’t finish our plates. Service was friendly and efficient, and we definitely recommend booking a table in advance.
Shabrina H — Google review
The roasted ham shank was good, so is the pig cheek in red wine. A cozy little restaurant with good food and atmosphere. I however didn't like the creme brulee, it could be better, but just my opinion.

The foods are worth recommending. But!!, be careful of the 6 shady bacalhau croquettes at the beginning, they are not free. We said we don’t eat them and please take them away, but in the end they are still in the receipt. After complaining, they are gone, but the behavior remains very shady.

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurante Antiqvvm is a renowned dining establishment located in the historic Solar do Vinho do Porto, offering stunning views of the Douro River. Chef Vitor Matos presents a daily menu featuring classic Portuguese dishes with a modern twist, using seasonal ingredients and innovative culinary trends. The restaurant has earned accolades for its fusion of Mediterranean cuisine with international influences, resulting in sumptuous dishes like royal pigeon and maroon calf tail with foie gras and beets.
Antiqvvm delivers a refined and memorable dining experience. The service was warm and attentive, and the Sensory Moments tasting menu with wine pairing was beautifully presented with well-balanced flavors. Portions were on the small side, and we didn’t leave completely full, but the quality and setting more than made up for it. The view over the Douro River adds an extra touch to a truly special evening. Highly recommended.

This is a top notch experience in Porto. The grounds themselves are beautiful with a great view of the river. Dinner started with cocktails in the garden. We got the vegetarian and the meat tasting menus, they both had some great signature dishes. On the meat / fish side I really appreciated the food being tasty - adventurous yes, but not so far to comprise the eating experience. Friendly service, and some great wine choices (get the pairing!).
Relja M — Google review
Placed on a quiet street that reminds of an antique European castle, huge gate that seems to lead you to a mansion welcomes you, followed by amiable greetings inside. All the dishes are very unique and savory. There was no point during our dining that servers missed to accommodate our needs. We were also given a tour inside the kitchen. This place does not only offer pieces of art on the table - this place really makes sure that visitors have the best culinary experience and bring happy memory with them.

*** Review from September 2023 *** The restaurant is located at an 18th century building, Museum Romantico. We had an outdoor table with beautiful view of the Douro River. The service was impeccable. But what let us down was the food. Don’t get me wrong, the quality was outstanding. However, we felt that the taste was lacking and some dish was not well balanced. Overall, we got to experience the lovely ambience that the restaurant offerred.
Peau S — Google review
We had a lovely 8 course meals with wine pairing lunch and truly appreciated the quality of the food and the attentive service—especially from the young lady who took care of us so graciously throughout the meal. However, we were quite disappointed to discover a €20 charge for the final glass of port wine, which we believed was complimentary. The wine server did not mention there would be an additional cost, and had that been made clear, we would have declined it. Unfortunately, this unexpected charge left us with a sour note after what was otherwise a wonderful experience. For a two-star Michelin restaurant, we expected a higher level of transparency. So be careful when they offer an extra glass of wine as it might cost you!

We came the day after the big Iberian outage. Revenge dining you may say. The sensory moment menus were spectacular, though some dishes were more successful than others IMHO. I personally enjoyed most the umami rich foie gras with tangy rhubarb & slight sweetness. Outstanding. The Claus Porto 'soap' was a very nice touch. Cute. The recommended bubbly worked well with overall - thanks to the sommelier. I deeply appreciated the work behind the plate choices & presentation, right down to the cup & saucer ..though few were a bit over the top for the refined vibe. Service level met expectation .. though there were a bit of rush towards next course. Pricing had factored in the 2-stars status. Loved the overall experience & environment.
M L — Google review
Great presentation of foods and taste, nice garden for a drink prior to the meal, very worth to visit. Only improvement is description of each dish by English which is important part of experience. We know the waitress did her best and she was pleasant, but wish it could be better illustrative.

Antiqvvm – a culinary symphony above the Douro! My spouse and I rose in a full standing ovation for the Chef and his Team—Bravo, Maestros! Now to the review :) Some meals linger for flavour; a rare few reset your idea of what cooking can achieve. Our dinner this March at Antiqvvm—newly adorned with two Michelin stars—falls firmly in that second camp. From the leafy terrace you glimpse the river, but once the first amuse-bouche lands, Porto slips away and you are carried through an eight-course (13 in our case for our honeymoon) narrative of colour, texture, and scent. We chose the full tasting menu with wine pairing, and never once looked back. Service & atmosphere: “Choreography” is the only word that fits. Plates arrive in silent unison, water glasses refill as if by telepathy, and dish descriptions read like poetry without ever drifting into lecture. Picture a chamber orchestra in flawless counterpoint: every gesture, pour, and plate drop timed to the millisecond, yet offered with effortless grace and an easy smile. You never have to ask— the team already knows. Crystal stays spotless, cutlery re-aligns itself, and every question, no matter how curious, earns a thoughtful, unhurried answer. It isn’t dinner so much as watching Leonardo da Vinci lay the final brushstroke on the Mona Lisa while a calm ensemble keeps the studio humming. Precise, pristine, and warmly human all at once! Final word: The Chef and THE Team, they—and only they—stand in front of the masterpieces they deliver; we are merely lucky guests, basking in their CREATION! If you’re ready to let dinner rewrite your definition of possibility, reserve a seat—then surrender, applaud, and enjoy the art unfolding before you.

Restaurant
Digby Restaurante Bar is situated within the luxurious Torel Avantgarde hotel in Porto, offering a stunning view of the Douro River, making it an ideal choice for a romantic outing. The restaurant's menu features standout dishes like Salmon with celery and dill puree and Black Pork Secrets. However, some patrons found the portion sizes to be on the smaller side. Additionally, Digby offers a lavish weekend brunch from 12:30 to 16:00.
As a person who's not used to go to places as fancy as this one I am little bit biased but damn... The waiters are the nicest possible, they treat you with the uttermost respect and always with a huge smile, which is great when you compare to french waiters. The meals are exquisite and delicious. The wine choice also is great, huge crush for the Soalheiro Oppaco. And the view... You have a huge panorama on Porto, and by night this is just wonderful to see.

The view is incredible!! It’s worth it to go to this restaurant for that alone. Thankfully, there’s more to appreciate than just that. We arrived 30 minutes early for our lunch reservation and hotel staff let us sit out on the patio to enjoy the view before service began. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine before moving inside for our meal. Our waiter was so sweet and he reminded me of my grandfather 🥹🥹🥹. He moved umbrellas around for us to give us some shade while we were outside. Loved him! For lunch we ordered the Chicken and Sea Bream. The chicken was excellent - very tender and had this delicious crust. The Sea bream was also good but very salty.

I’m very confused at our experience based on the reviews. Our air bnb host had even recommended this place as a close option, but our experience was so terrible we didn’t stay to dine. Not to mention the prices are very high. You’re paying for the view. You have to wander into the hotel lobby to get to the restaurant, and then through the bar area to get to the hostess desk. The staff in the lobby were cold and unfriendly/not helpful as we tried to locate the entrance to the restaurant but we rounded a corner and eventually ran into the bar tender, who was friendly enough to point us down a dark hallway to the hostess desk we never would’ve found otherwise. Up until this point things had been slightly off but this is where we chose to leave. We asked for a table, and were told no tables. We pointed to the patio that had a few tables with food and drinks, and were told the patio was only open for snacks; we asked when the restaurant would open for dinner; and were told firmly “only snacks until 11:30 PM.” Even though the entire place was clearly a restaurant gearing up for dinner service. It was 5:45 for reference, and we were very open to sitting outside for a snack and drink until dinner service began. We were never asked about a reservation, or told they were booked. After trying to speak to the host and being coldly shut down each time we left. She made it very clear, that for whatever reason, we were not welcome to dine there for formal dinner, so we went to the Door (which was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend)
Olyvia S — Google review
I had an unforgettable lunch experience at Tenro by Digby. From the moment I sat down, I knew I was in for something special. The fresh-made bread alone was a delight, setting the tone for the meal. The standout was the a la carte chicken dish—without a doubt, the best chicken I have ever tasted. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, it was an absolute revelation. The service was exceptional—personable and kind, they took the time to engage with tourists, making everyone feel welcome. To finish, I indulged in the Black Forest chocolate cake, which was a decadent and rich finale. They have truly perfected their restaurant. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Porto!
Melanie B — Google review
The restaurant is inside a 5 star hotel. It has a balcony with a very nice view over the city and river, right next to the hotel pool. The service was just ok, with nice people taking care of us. However, the food was disappointing. For example, the pastry with goat cheese and tomato was either very unbalanced or the tomatoes were not ripe, something was very off there. On one of the main dishes, the chicken had undissolved rocks of salt that you could feel in you teeth, and the ratatouille was kinda cold. To contrast, the duck risotto was very good, I only felt it was lacking some cheese. The worst was the dessert, where mine was rock hard because, apparently, there was some kind of problem with the freezer, so they brought me another, different, dessert dish. This was the executive lunch menu. Overall, there were a lot of good ideas and flavours there, but the execution was terrible. It was not a very good experience, especially considering it is inside a 5 star hotel.

Absolutely fantastic meal and service! We originally picked this restaurant because of the gorgeous photos of the interior, and the hotel was even more stunning in person. We arrived a little before the restaurant opened and were seated in the flower room to wait (a beautiful area with rose walls and hanging flowers above on the ceiling). When we were seated the hostess showed us the outdoor area and took a group photo of us before bringing us to our table. The drinks were great, and we really enjoyed the food as well - especially the duck ravioli. The golden snitch and Frida Kahlo rose desserts were excellent as well. The presentation and service was 5-star quality, and we had an incredible time at Digby. Thank you Gabriela, Inês, Maurizio, Tiago, and Leandro for making this the highlight of our trip to Porto!

Universal Porto is a restaurant in Portugal that serves local food. The people are warm and the food tastes great.
Small but lovely restaurant and the prices are excellent. They don't speak English at all, but the service was excellent. In Porto and generally in Portugal is expected that they put entrances in some places without advice, so if you don't want it, ask them to remove it.

Highly recommend this family runs local restaurant. The homemade food was exceptionally well cooked by couple chef, Carlos & Mabília. Their daughter speaks very good English, warm welcoming service. Lovely local ambience. Obrigada ☺️ Definitely will come to eat every evening while I am in Porto.

The FC Porto Museum, also known as the FC Porto Museum by BMG, is a cutting-edge soccer museum located at Estadio do Dragao in Porto, Portugal. It offers an immersive experience for football enthusiasts and showcases the rich history and achievements of the renowned Portuguese football club, FC Porto. The museum features multimedia displays, interactive panels, an impressive trophies room, and real-size models of famous players for visitors to enjoy.
Visited the museum recently and it did not disappoint. The museum like the stadium is very beautiful and very well prepared. It starts with multiple statues of the founding fathers and players of the Easter years. There is a lot of light and projection to highlight the events. It traces the history of the club very well along with all its champions wins. Got to learn a lot about this historic club.

Nice museum with a lot of old artifacts from the very day Porto FC was founded. I’m no particular football interested person myself, but enjoyed the tour of the stadium (unfortunately you don’t get to visit the Porto team locker room but the visiting team one) and especially the museum together with my youngest. You can easily spend 1-2 hours here.
Niels B — Google review
This place was amazing! My only regret is we didn't give it enough time in our schedule. So my advice, the Studium tour you can probably do in 45 minutes. The museum requires at least 1.5 hours to properly appreciate all that's on offer. I suggest dedicating at least 2.5-3.5 hours to get your money's worth. I would recommend the audio guide for both parts but especially for the stadium tour. We had to forgoe it for the museum because we were running late for our next event. They offer some professional photos. Individual ones are expensive but the package is reasonable. You can take your own photos in some areas but not others. Definitely recommend. Would visit again even though I'm not specifically a football fan. Give the visit a minimum of 2.5 hours excluding the merchandise shop 😂.

The trip started with the tour around the stadium and it lasted about 1 hour and 15 minutes. You can see the stadium, press room, changing room, etc. Nothing special. After that you can visit the museum with the same ticket (costs 25 eur for adults and 10 eur for children). Here, it is more interesting and many things to explore. Highly recommended.
PHONG D — Google review
This is my third visit to the FC Porto Museum since it opened, and it never disappoints. The stadium tour, in particular, has improved significantly. Without a guide, you have the freedom to explore at your own pace, pause to rest whenever you like, and take as many photos as you want. Experiencing the stadium grounds in such a relaxed setting is truly unique. The museum itself is absolutely incredible. I got goosebumps, especially in the trophy room. The production quality is outstanding, easily one of the best, if not the best, museums in Portugal. My only suggestion would be to update the final film shown in the big cinema room before the exit. It has been the same one for as long as I can remember and, aside from the impressive graphics, it does not really focus on the team. It would be amazing to see a showcase of FC Porto's greatest moments instead.
Gonçalo G — Google review
We visited the FC Porto stadium and museum and were genuinely surprised by how impressive the experience was. We hadn’t expected the museum to be so large, modern, and detailed, it far exceeded our expectations. We opted for the museum pass combined with the stadium tour, and both parts were extensive and very well organized. The tour goes far beyond just walking through the stadium, you also get to explore important interior spaces like the locker rooms, press area, and more, giving you a full behind-the-scenes experience. Even though I’m not a football fan myself, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The combination of history, multimedia, trophies, and architecture makes it an engaging visit for everyone, highly recommended.

The best experience for parents with children, especially if the kids love football! A club with a rich history and many trophies – the stadium tour is also truly impressive. The children were absolutely thrilled! Thank you, Porto!❤️

Shopping
The Alameda Shopping mall features a variety of stores on 5 floors and is located near the Estadio do Dragao stadium. It also has a cinema.
Nice shops and restaurants, food court on 4th floor stays open and seems to be a favorite of families on game days - FC Porto jerseys & scarfs worn by everyone after the game! Underground parking lot is free and was easy to navigate. The Porto Metro stop is conveniently nearby - exit street level and turn left (heading downhill) then cross the street, go past the Drago Arena (smaller building) and you’ll see the Metro stop across the street from the stadium.

Plenty of stores, restaurants, seats, open space and parking lots. Great view of the Estádio do Dragão. I really like this shopping center. Also the accessibility of the parking entrance was a bit difficult to find. I entered a kind of parking from east side of the complex that said Welcome to Alameda Shopping Centre but we ended up returning back and finding another entrance. Also they have a nice nursing area for mothers and babies. we also liked the waterworks in the middle of the shopping center.

I visited this shopping mall 2 days ago for cinema. We went here to watch a film at the cinema. It is a bit far from Villa Nova de Gaia but worth to visit for cinema. Pros: 1. The mall is located in strategic roundabout. It is very close Estádio do Dragão of FC Porto by walking distance. 2. The mall is quite big with four levels, clean, and has great decorations in some parts. 3. Entrance accessible for wheelchair. 4. Parking accessible for wheelchair. 5. The parking is free and has a very huge space. 6. They have gymnastics for doing exercises and sports. 7. They have many great stores (clothes, decorations, and many others stores). 8. Big supermarket Continente is here too. 9. The customer service of the mall is very kind and helpful. 10. They have a cinema and they offer a promotion of 10 euros per person for jantar and movie. The ticket can be purchased on the first floor after 7 at night. I highly recommend to try this promotion. 11. They have food court in the fourth floor. 12. Free wifi accessible inside the shopping mall. 13. Free restroom. 14. The lift and escalator work well. 14. A four star hotel is located near the shopping mall. 15. The shopping mall is very close with a metro station. Cons: 1. Nothing. I like all the experience to be here.

Top tier shopping. The space is enormous, it's clean and hasn't disappointed me in any service provided. Also a great spot to have my afternoon coffee and still work a little bit on my laptop with the plugs on the tables. Heard they also provide powerbanks through a lending fee for specific hours and that's amazing! Overall a good shopping mall, but heard it's best to avoid when a FC Porto match is happening on the Stadium next door!

Magnificent shopping center in Porto. Wide selection of food to choose from in the food court and restaurants. Awesome supermarket in the basement.
Sharon S — Google review
Nice mall in the area with diversity of goods. I love the bookstore on the second floor! Nearby, the first bookstore I could find that having books in English, also there is lovely postcards and good stationery for students here! the supermarket in the first floor is also a good one! Simple Continente but bigger and more stuff, one small personal observation is the veggies here seem fresher and in good quality every time I visit. Compare to other ones with the same brand, I like this one a lot.

It's pretty empty place (getting typical for many physical retail locations) they got some good clothing stores, a picture of high-end \ pricey and affordable cheaper places. They also got some other stores like electronic stores and games stores. Plenty of seating available. The entrance was difficult to get to as the signs were inadequate and Google maps doesn't take you to the parking entrance. They do got a cool fountain.

Parque de São Roque

Park
Parque de São Roque is a serene and tranquil public park located in Porto, away from the bustling city center. It offers visitors a peaceful retreat with its expansive gardens, charming stone benches, and a picturesque lake. The park also features an 18th-century building that was once the palace of Quinta da Lameira before being transformed into a public garden.
Such a beautiful place to go in a sunny day. I had a little picnic. The view is amazing and the garden is beautiful. Kids can enjoy the playground and the maze.

The park is amazing, perfect for a peaceful walk and even better with jazz in the evening. Such a beautiful atmosphere!
Alena V — Google review
While many visitors to Porto flock to the well-known Jardim do Morro for its iconic views, Parque de São Roque offers a different kind of experience: a tranquil, historical retreat on the city's eastern side. Originally the grounds of a large estate known as Quinta da Lameira, this park was acquired by the city in 1979 and has since become a cherished "green lung" for the neighborhood of Campanhã. Stepping into Parque de São Roque feels like a journey back in time. The park is laid out on a series of terraces, a design that gives it the feel of a romantic 19th-century garden. It's filled with hidden nooks, charming water features, and elegant architectural details like fountains and a small cave. The highlight for many visitors is the famous labyrinth made of boxwood hedges, a fun and visually striking feature that kids and adults alike enjoy navigating. The park is also home to Casa São Roque, a magnificent manor house that has been transformed into a contemporary art center. While the house itself requires a separate ticket, it adds a cultural dimension to the visit, with its exhibitions and events. The surrounding garden is a work of art in itself, boasting a collection of over 200 camellias, a plant for which Porto is particularly famous. For those looking for a quiet place to read, stroll, or just escape the urban bustle, Parque de São Roque is an excellent choice. It's a bit off the main tourist path, which means it rarely feels crowded. With its lush greenery, historical charm, and a few good viewpoints of the city and the Douro River, it offers a peaceful and refreshing alternative to the more bustling city center parks.
Sazan R — Google review

Dmytro P — Google review
Wow!! Such a magical and peaceful place to visit!! It’s truly like in a movie, and the most surprising thing is there isn’t a lot of people.
Nikolina K — Google review

Daisy B — Google review
Really nice park. You can see part of the Douro River and one of the sides of Porto from there.
Carlos R — Google review
Great location for a break from the city feeling. Lively, yet relaxing park with many beautiful tree species such as eucalyptus trees. An informative sign at the entrance of the park showed us where to find some wonderful spots like fountains and gazebos, and there were great viewpoints overlooking the city and the Douro. There's plenty of space for people doing all kinds of things, resting, having a picnic with family, playing sports, walking their dogs, playing the guitar... The park closes at 8 pm (with gates!) and the staff will warn you about this about half an hour prior.

Church of Saint Ildefonso is an elegant 18th-century church located in the Baixa district of Porto. Its facade is adorned with blue and white tiles, known as azulejos, depicting scenes from the life of St. Ildefonso and stories from the gospel. Created by artist Jorge Colaço, over 11,000 tiles make up this stunning facade. The church stands alone in Praca da Batalha and is a head-turner with its graceful twin towers.
Only 1 euro entrance fee for the church and the museum! Outside facade is just stunning, yet inside is also worthy to see. It is a wonderful church, including from outside with azulejos on the outdoor walls. Yet, be mindful about the opening hours.

It cost 1 euro to enter. The Church is fantastic, peaceful, and quiet. If my euro contributes to upkeep, then I am very happy

On the north side of the Praça da Batalha stands the Church of San Ildefonso, and like many churches in Porto, its main facade is covered with azulejos. This early Baroque church was built between 1709 and 1739 and is dedicated to Ildefonso, the 7th-century Archbishop of Toledo. Note the beautiful stained-glass windows and the brazen altarpiece by the Italian architect Niccolò Nasoni.
Koen — Google review
The Igreja de Santo Ildefonso is located in Batalha Square. The church’s façade is beautifully decorated with traditional azulejos (ceramic tiles), though the exterior shows some signs of age and decay. In contrast, the interior and the altar are in excellent condition and truly stunning. I highly recommend visiting this charming historic church.

Stayed just opposite this old church and museum in same building. Baroque style, small square in front of. You are in downtown with many other attraction around, restaurants, cafes and shopping
Soko ( — Google review
The Baroque-style parish church is known for its striking combination of a classical façade and elaborate azulejo tilework covering its exterior walls. The church is named after Saint Ildefonsus, a 7th-century Archbishop of Toledo in Spain. Construction began in 1709 and was completed in 1739. The church was damaged during the Batalha da Liberdade (Battle of Liberty) in 1833 but was later restored. In 1932, over 11,000 azulejos were added to the façade. Designed by Jorge Colaço, the tiles depict scenes from the life of Saint Ildefonsus and various episodes from the Bible.

Lado B Café (Coliseu) is a popular spot in Porto known for its delicious francesinhas, burgers, grilled steaks, and hot dogs. The restaurant offers a spacious front room that can accommodate groups of up to 20 people, as well as a smaller back room for more intimate gatherings. Situated near the historic Majestic Cafe and the Church of Saint Ildefonso, it's easily recognizable. The modern decor reflects the owner's connection to the music world.
The place we tried famous Francesinha and loved. If you are not too hungry - recommend sharing one for 2 people, you won’t end up sleepy. Super Bock craft beer was really nice too.

Tried the Franchesinha here. It's a must try dish in Porto. Unfortunately it wasn't to my taste but that isn't a reflection on the restaurant. The service was really good and the atmosphere was great. It's a really nice cafe. Modern. It's a shame I didn't like the famous dish. But from other reviews, this is the place to try it.

We tried the famous Francesinha, along with fries and a cold Super Bock. The service was fast and friendly, and the food arrived hot – served on a nicely warmed plate, which was a great touch. While the Francesinha wasn’t quite to my personal taste, that’s purely a matter of preference and not a reflection on the restaurant itself. Everything was well prepared and presented. A great spot with solid service – definitely worth a visit if you're curious to try a local classic!

I think they’re using the same potato chips for different tables. As soon as I sat down, they placed a small bowl of potato chips on the table. After my main dish arrived, the waiter took it without saying anything (it was full). Another waiter noticed the suprised look on my face and brought it back. But then it happened again- twice during the same meal. I ordered the vegetarian francesinha with french fries, not my flavor but the sauce was good.

Known as the best Francesinha in Porto, right next door to their direct competition, but you can't go wrong either way, try them both! We also had the hot dog sandwich, forgot what its called but it was delicious as well :)

We shuffled up into this mother to try the famous francesinha of Portugal. I have not marked the restaurant down despite me not enjoying the dish. The food was all cooked well and having vegan alternatives is always great. There’s beers and food was very reasonably priced. I just find the dish to be weird.

Very tasty and affordable. Much better than the neighbours. We had francesinha, hot dog, soup, apple crumble (just from the oven, very tasty)

Amazing place for a local dish. The Fransecsinha. It’s basically a sandwich style dish and in between you get a steak, Portuguese sausage, and cheese, top with more cheese and a fried egg and then drizzle with a sauce similar to the “poutine” in Canada. When it’s busy you probably need to wait for a bit and go in and put your name on the reservation list. The crowd moves quite fast. Order is fast too and food arrives fast. All in all would totally come back and recommend.

Unforgettable Birthday Celebration in Porto! 🥳 Service is 10/10! We had an absolutely incredible experience celebrating my son's birthday at Muu Steakhouse. The service was truly exceptional, making it a standout meal in Porto. The Fillet Steak (€33.00) was wonderfully tender and a definite highlight – we'd recommend it for everyone! 👍 The T-bone Steak (€68.00) was decent but a bit chewier than the fillet. We also enjoyed the refreshing Sangria de Espumante (€10.00) 🍹 and the MUU Red Wine (2 glasses, €16.00 total) which paired well with our meal. For sides, the Arroz de Forno (Oven Rice, €7.00) and Spinach with Cheese (€7.00) were both tasty, though portions were a bit modest; consider ordering an extra side for three people. 🍚🌿 We received complimentary Couvert, Welcome Sparkling Wine 🥂, and Fritas (French Fries), which was a lovely touch. But the real star was the service. Our server, "Sol", and her blonde colleague were incredibly attentive, always checking on us with genuine warmth. The staff's dedication, like kneeling at eye level during payment and their surprise birthday dessert with a candle and song 🎂, made my son's birthday incredibly special and memorable. We had planned to skip dessert and do cake at home, so this surprise was a truly touching moment. 🕯️ The total bill came to €143.50, but the unparalleled service and overall experience made it absolutely worth it. Highly recommend for a special celebration! ✨

Oh MUU God! A must when in Porto. Our friends back home recommended MUU saying they have never eaten at a better place and they were not wrong. This was the best experience! We went here at the start of our trip and I am now writing a review at the end because it was that memorable. The food and background behind each dish with the flavour profiles were incredible. Igor was our server and he was so fun, knowledgeable and just happy to be there. Seeing all the employees that night on how well they connect with each of their guests was enlightening to see. After going to a couple Michelin star restaurants on our trip I cannot believe this place hasn’t been awarded one. Thank you for this experience!

I don’t even know where to start! Booked this as our final meal in Porto during our honeymoon. Everything was 10/10… The sparkling wine when you first arrive is such a nice touch. The atmosphere was beautiful. And the food.. wow. Delicious steak, the salad was gorgeous with the pickled onions, and the rabanada dessert was amazing. I was so intrigued by the menu description being lyrics to Last Christmas. I told our waiter I didn’t want to know what it was - surprise me! It didn’t disappoint. A delicious, elevated twist on French toast. And to our waiter, Dino - we adore you. If you see this, please know you made this meal so special for us. Thank you for such amazing service. I hope to see you again! Obrigado!

Fast food restaurant
O Astro Cervejaria Petisqueira is a cozy and charming spot that offers a taste of authentic Portuguese cuisine. It's known for its delicious spicy pork sandwiches called bifanas, which are tender and flavorful. In addition to the savory sandwiches, they also serve traditional dishes like caldo verde (kale soup) and papas, a thick soup made with blood and shredded meat. The service is fast and friendly, despite the bustling atmosphere.
Found the place online but it was also recommended to us by locals. So don't be afraid of the hype. Its definitely a worthy one. Had my bifana at the bar for a true local experience. There are a couple of other options which I didn't try yet I noticed that all the locals were having soup after eating their sandwich. Either way a must try place when you visit Porto.

Ordered a Bifana sandwich and a Caldo Verde. The Bifana was delicious, but the Caldo Verde was a bit bland. It's nice to see the old ladies busy in the kitchen. You can tell they care about the food. It's right across Campaña station and still very affordable. Give it a try.

Very Delicious Bifana, not very consistent in terms of taste and quality of meat but still definitely worth it.

Hit up this restaurant for quick snack after arriving at Campanhã station. Vibe out on the street was good as it was well attended. Inside had AC and lots of seating which was pleasant surprise from the busy street side tables. The bifana tasted good but we don’t have any other bifanas to compare it to. It was sandwich only so sides need to be ordered with it. We ordered bovine and chicken burger meals and they arrived bunless keto-style. All good if you expect it but we sure didn’t! Service was good, our server came back several times to check on us and spoke good English.

The following review is based solely off customer service and my experience paying. DO NOT PAY WITH CREDIT CARD HERE, THEY WILL CHOSE THE CONVERSION EVEN WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION WHICH COST YOU MORE FOR NOTHING. I went to the register to pay I gave the lady my table number she confirmed the amount , I went to pay with Apple Pay before I could choose Euros the cashier pulled the machine from my hands , I said I want to pay in Euro not USD and please deny the conversion otherwise they charge you more for nothing. When she gave me the receipt I she chose the conversion anyway, the manager came over and said sorry without correcting the situation which means nothing. I had euros on me and had I been informed that they prefer to steal from their customers when they pay credit I would have given euros. This was my first experience in Porto and this is how I was welcomed. I promise you if you come to America we will be kind and helpful and will not charge you extra for no reason. This was not a mistake if it was you would have done the right thing and corrected the situation .

Visitors can stroll through a magnificent palm tree-lined avenue where parakeets nest at the treetops and enjoy activities such as mini-golf for children and a designer market on Sundays.
It is an amazing public garden. Great sunset views. Jog/Running track along the sea. It is a great place to take a peaceful stroll away from the crowded city centre. You can also see the historic tram that runs between the historic centre of Porto and the garden of Passeio Alegre on a single path along the banks of the River Douro.

Nice park close to the river. The end of the line for tram no 18 Clerigos/passeio Alegre. Great ride to the city and back. View to the ocean's waves breaking at the pier..

Nice Park, near the shore and beach. Many trees for shadowing, especially during summer. There is a kind of local market offering hand ade foodstuff and Souvenirs.

Came across this park by chance. Took the old tram from the city center to the end of the river/beach. Most people didn't even walk through but rather walked along the boulevard next to the river, which is a shame because this park is very beautiful. Very aesthetically pleasing with vibrantly colored flowers and fountains. There is more than enough seating and lots of places to dispose of trash. It is kept very clean and tidy. There's public toilets for men and women in a yellow and purple building in the middle of the park. The toilet has a sign saying it's 0,20 Euro cents but there was no one there when I went. The same building also has information folders about the park which is really nice, and there's also a historical toilet and washbasin that is protected behind glass. Even the toilets were made in the blue tile style, very cool.

Beautiful park, cool, next to the Douro. Very pleasant for a calm stroll, while checking the little stands selling Portuguese crafts. There is also a mini golf, either for kids or adults, quite entertaining! Worth visiting.😊
Lucila P — Google review
A great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Wide open spaces with great views back towards Porto in one direction and out to sea in the other. Easy to get to by hopping on one of the old trams (line 1 or line 18). We were fortunate to have lovely weather but it may not be quite so nice in poor weather. You can walk a little way past the garden to reach the quay and a beach, it's worth the 5-10 minute walk. Not many amenities by the garden area, there is one bar/cafe at the end of the tram line. At the quay/barrage we found some street vendors selling drinks and snacks. There are also public toilet facilities and a water refill station nearby.

Aquarium
Nature & Parks
SEA LIFE Centre Porto is a top choice for families, offering a variety of sea creatures and play areas. It's an exceptional museum that provides a rare opportunity to see sharks, colorful sea horses, and magnificent rays up close. Visitors can even witness the feeding of these beautiful aquatic animals at specific times. The center also serves as an educational platform for children to learn about important topics such as life preservation and recycling in a fun and interactive manner.
Visited the sea life recently and the place did not disappoint. I had booked the tickets beforehand, but it was not necessary and we can very easily get the ticket at the counter. The visit started with a short documentary in a room before the doors opened to this wonderful aquarium. This place has a variety of different fishes available with a beautifully designed ambience. At the end there is a garden and penguin center. They also have a very diverse gift shop near the exit. Overall this was a wonderful experience and totally worth the visit.

We had such a great time at SEA LIFE Porto! It was fun, educational, and perfect for kids (and adults too). The staff were friendly, and we really appreciated that the feedings and shows were also done in English. The aquarium is well maintained, with lots of fascinating sea creatures and interactive areas. The playground outside was a big bonus, perfect for letting the kids run around. Highly recommended for families with children of all ages.
Rebekka S — Google review
Sea Life Porto is a lovely place to visit with really pretty aquariums and a nice variety of marine life. I especially enjoyed using the app — scanning the fish and discovering fun facts made the experience even more engaging and interactive. The only downside is that the aquarium felt a little small compared to the ticket price, but overall it was a fun and enjoyable visit.
Laura Č — Google review
The aquarium is quite small but overall interesting. There are different marine species, and everything looks well maintained. We liked that there’s an outdoor rest area and a playground, which is convenient for families with children. However, the aquarium itself is compact, and the visit doesn’t take much time, so the impression is rather average. Overall, it’s a nice place to visit, especially with kids, but don’t expect anything very large-scale.
Анита А — Google review
Overall pretty bad experience! First off, dirty water, which is bad both for the animals (poor conditions) and for us (poor visibility). Secondly, way too small spaces for such big creatures! They deserve much more space, especially when we see this big turtle piled up with a huge ray. Then, 18€50 for a visit that only lasts 45-1h is truly a joke. There wasn’t much to see at all, especially considering how crowded it was and how small the windows were for us to have a peek! Disappointing. (and we didn’t even visit during rush hour, it was 10am on a wednesday). Poor management of the crowds, poor quality of service, too much of a price… I don’t recommend supporting such behaviour.
Sophia C — Google review
Loved this aquarium! So much packed into the space, but it all felt very relaxing. You can get right up close to turtles, sting rays, etc the playground was also nice for the kids to just relax and play. The cafe served great snacks and full meals!

A lot smaller than expected going by resent sealife places I've been to but itcwas still a lovely day out. My daughter noticed. A tank with poorly seahorse so she told someone and they checked them out and came back and thanked her for letting them know. Apparently they had recently given birth and needed a bit more attention, so thanks to my daughter that's what they got. There's a hurricane simulator too

Amazing aquarium, who do so much for animal conservation. We paid extra to go behind the scenes to feed Merisa their 22 year old 160kgs green sea turtle, which was just amazing. The staff were brilliant too, particularly the chap who accompanied us to feed Merisa. Thank you again.

Park
Parque de Serralves is an 18-hectare park that forms part of the Serralves Foundation, a cultural institution in western Porto. The foundation encompasses a park, a villa, a contemporary art museum, and a cinema set on nearly 45 acres of land. The villa is considered an outstanding example of art deco architecture and has been declared a national monument.
We had a fantastic time at this park — it’s truly a hidden gem for families! The highlight was the beautiful walkway above the trees, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. Our kids absolutely loved the small farm area where they got to see horses, cows, and adorable little pigs up close. Everything was clean, safe, and thoughtfully designed for all ages. It’s the perfect place to enjoy nature, relax, and let the kids explore. Highly recommended for a full day of family fun! 🌳🐴🐄🐷

Addition to the fantastic contemporary art gallery, there is also a park and a villa that is attached to the property. It’s a pleasant walk with a sprinkle of art installations and a fun tree top walkways! The villa and the fountains also give major Wes Anderson vibes and is a wonder place to take pictures. It’s a no brainer to visit if you’re coming to the art gallery!

posted a SFW pic at the front for those with families or people looking over their shoulders, haha. it's a lovely green place with integrated contemporary art for both nature and art lovers, the museum is very original and the restrooms look like they were made for royalty. i'll leave the other contemporary art off the photos so that it can come as a surprise. i enjoyed walking here, climbing is essential though so wheelchair folks may need to stay off some of the places only accessible by steps.
M — Google review
A big and very well kept park with several eye catching sculptures, a small rose garden, an arboretum with a tree walk structure that is very accessible. The garden is part of the museum visit, but definitely check the villa in the park that houses some modern art. It is a spectacular art deco masterpiece.
Jan H — Google review
It is a breathtaking place, combining natural beauty with cultural richness. The vast gardens are perfectly maintained, offering peaceful walks among lush greenery. Inside, the Serralves Museum showcases impressive contemporary art in a stunning architectural setting. A must-visit for art and nature lovers alike!"

A nice change from a disappointing visit to the museum. The park is the real highlight of Serralves. Huge, beautifully landscaped, and perfect for a peaceful walk or a picnic. Lots of spots for photos and relaxing in nature. Ideal for a sunny day or a leisurely stroll.

It's a nice place to visit while visiting Porto, as long as you have enough days and you are willing to spend half day there. The tree walk was fun. The gardens where quite neglected, especially if you consider that there's an entrance fee of 15 euros.

Restaurant
Tia Aninhas is a restaurant located a bit away from the city center in Porto, offering traditional Portuguese food of very good quality at affordable prices. The lunch menu costs 6 euros and dinner is priced at 8 euros, both including soup, main dish, a drink, and coffee. On weekends, the menu is priced at 9 euros. The variety of dishes to choose from makes it highly recommended by visitors. The friendly service and homemade food create an enjoyable dining experience for patrons.
Tia A Minha is a local restaurant that specializes in traditional Portuguese dishes, prepared with so much love and care. I tried their bacalhau, and it was absolutely amazing—this coming from someone who has had plenty of bacalhau since moving to Portugal three years ago! Their bacalhau was truly out of this world, and I don’t give praise like that easily. We tried five different dishes, but our favorites were the Bacalhau com Natas and the Arroz de Pato. If I’m ever in Porto again, I’ll definitely be returning to Tia A Minha for those two incredible meals!

Best Local restaurant that you can enjoy traditional porto food. Super nice staff. Offer course from bread, soup, main dish and also drinks. We ordered chicken soup which was really nice and deep. Remind me of 삼계탕. We also asked for the Red wine as drinks then they almost gave us half bottle size of wine per person. Main dish was very much home made feeling. duck rice and chicken rice. Duck nice was tasty. Chicken rice is cooked with chicken blood with a bit sour taste. good for the trial if you like sour favor! Last important thing is that really nice price!!!!! You will really pay £10-15 per person including drinks!!!

Large local restaurant that has Porto ambience written all over it. This is the place locals go to and the kind of home-cooked food they enjoy. No printed menu, it is written on the wall. Waiter explains dishes to you and it is really fantatsic and dish sizes are quite huge. Fantastic flavours and good choice drinks - oh, and in Porto, you do not order a Bica, but a Café. Muito Obrigado.

Family restaurant with food that tastes homemade! Large portions with fair prices. You can find most of the Portuguese classic dishes here, such as bacalhau com natas and arroz de pato. Part of the menu varies day to day. Their polvo a lagareiro is also great!

Great place for eating traditional portuguese food for a great price. I usually go on Saturdays for it's the day they serve "Papas de Sarrabulho", a protuguese medieval porridge that I like a lot, especially in cold nights. Besides that, I strongly recommend the veal.

Fantastic local Portuguese restaurant serving yummy and authentic food- highly recommend. Waiter took the effort to explain the entire menu to us in English which we really appreciated. Lunch menu deal was so worth it: 7.5 euros for a drink, soup and meal. (I ordered the seafood rice and chicken soup which was really delicious). Will return for sure.

Nestled in the charming Foz do Douro neighborhood, Cafeína stands out as a must-visit destination for food lovers seeking an exquisite blend of Portuguese and international cuisine. With its modern and stylish ambiance, this restaurant has become a staple in Porto's dining scene over the past two decades. The menu is a delightful journey through flavors, featuring standout dishes like grilled octopus paired with sweet potato puree and classic salted cod served with spinach and Hollandaise sauce.
What a fantastic meal! The restaurant is celebrating their 30 years anniversary this year and some dishes are from the original menu. All dishes we tried were fantastic. Very reasonably priced restaurant. Their tiger prawn is just wow! Also loved the beef carpaccio. All dishes were good size. Overall excellent experience.

I highly recommend. The atmosphere is very cosy and intimate. Excellent service and friendly staff. The food was good, but felt the portions lacking in size for the price. Overall a very pleasant experience and evening.
Maria S — Google review
The food was incredible, everything what we ordered was delicious. We were advised to go there by our friends to celebrate the birthday. The waiters have been very friendly, attentive and helpful. The location is great too. However, the hostesses could have been friendlier and less curt, we felt rather unwelcomed and were rushed quite a lot at the end. We saw how some people who came at the same time as us were not rushed and stayed when we were asked to leave. It was quite obvious that the place has regulars who were treated differently, and it would have been better if restaurant was more impartial. It is such a shame as the restaurant’s location, waiters and food were superb, but I don’t we would go back.
G. S — Google review
The ambiance was pleasant, and they had an extensive wine menu but that is about it. The service was courteous, but not particularly attentive, we had to refill our wine glasses by ourselves even though the restaurant was not full. Out of the dishes we ordered, the best one was tiger prawn but it was mainly thanks to the quality of seafood they use, the prawns were a bit overcooked. The scallops were tender but nothing to rave about. The chocolate cake was nothing remarkable, the ice cream's flavour was indistinct, tasting mostly of sugar and nothing else. At this price point in Porto, I can't give more than 3 stars. Not a restaurant I'd return to.

Dining at this restaurant is far more than just having a meal – it is a complete experience of elegance, craftsmanship, and culinary artistry. From the very first moment, the sense of refinement is evident: the sophisticated ambiance, the beautifully set tables, and the impeccably trained staff who manage to strike the perfect balance between attentiveness, discretion, and expertise. The cuisine itself is a true celebration of flavors, textures, and aesthetics. Each dish is composed with remarkable precision, offering not only outstanding taste but also a visual feast. • Starters: The beef tartare with egg yolk was a masterpiece of simplicity and technique – perfectly seasoned, delicate in texture, and full of depth. The carpaccio, sliced paper-thin, melted effortlessly on the palate, enhanced by subtle accents of cheese and fresh garnish. The seafood and vegetable starters were equally impressive, showcasing both creativity and balance – each plate felt like a miniature work of art. • Main Course: The meat dish stood out as a highlight: perfectly cooked, tender, and accompanied by a rich, dark sauce that elevated it to another level. The vegetables were vibrant and full of flavor, while the layered potato side offered a wonderful interplay of crispiness and creaminess. This was classic French-inspired cuisine, reinterpreted with modern elegance. • Desserts: The grand finale was an array of sweets that reflected both tradition and innovation. From the refreshing sorbet to the beautifully composed tarts and the delicate crêpe served in a light vanilla sauce, every element was refined and thoughtful. Each dessert struck a careful balance of sweetness, texture, and lightness – a perfect ending to the menu. What truly sets this restaurant apart is not only the flawless execution but also the presentation of each dish: every plate arrived as a visual composition, proof that aesthetics and flavor can be seamlessly united. This was a dining experience that exceeded expectations on every level – a place where passion for food, respect for ingredients, and a deep understanding of hospitality come together in harmony.

O Gaveto is a beloved seafood restaurant located in Porto, known for its impeccable preparation of fish and seafood dishes. The restaurant offers a beautiful seafront setting and is highly recommended for its ameijoas a Bulhao Pato, monkfish rice, and the flavorful seafood acorda. With a superb wine list, it's also a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. O Gaveto stands out as one of the most intriguing traditional restaurants in Porto.
**O Gaveto** This is not just a restaurant; it's a philosophy. The owner personally greets guests, the staff is both professional and friendly, with an immense knowledge of wines, and the dishes are made from fresh, regional ingredients... Attention to every detail ensures that, upon entering, you feel taken care of, with everyone knowing how to cater to your utmost satisfaction. I highly recommend it to those for whom a restaurant is synonymous with a passion passed down through generations and an exceptional commitment to quality service and guest satisfaction.

This wonderful restaurant, recommended by a good friend of ours, was well worth the 30 minute Uber ride from Vilanova de Gaia. The food quality was extraordinary, the fish and shrimp were swim-fresh and cooked to perfection. We had boiled bouquet shrimp (camarão da costa) and clams as starters, followed by a deliciously grilled wild seabass. The waiter insisted on serving us the home-made almond tart as a desert, accompanied by a 10-year old Madeira (verdelho). We picked a delicious sparkling wine from the Bairrada region to accompany the entire meal: “Agua Viva”. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality of food. A memorable dinner for sure. Will be back! Highly recommended!

Beautiful restaurant in Matosinhos. Service is really old school (older waiters, limited English but they’re doing their best). We wanted to know how many oysters are in 1kg and he actually brought us the oysters on a platter to see how many are there. I think it’s expensive by local standards but we enjoyed it. Got some fresh oysters (1kg), 2 big prawns, one portion of clams and cod plus a bottle of house white wine. Total damage: 120Eur

The most delicious prawns ever. We had some really delicious and fresh seafood. Every plate had its own unique flavour and the restaurant was quiet and very relaxing. A little more expensive than all the other places we went in Porto but it's worth it if you are a seafood lover.

**NOTE: Was invited for a wine tasting dinner so did not pick up the check. Based on what we ordered I would say it was about 40€ per person. Additionally I didn’t want to be rude to our hosts or the establishment so I didn’t immediately take photos are usual. With that being said, everything was fantastic. The service was attentive, fun but not intrusive. Started with oysters which were a perfect balance of salinity flavors and freshness. Having spent some time on Nantucket, I will say they stand up to that competition. We enjoyed a huge chilled seafood platter with some of the best prawns and crab dip I have ever had. After that we enjoyed the clams and lobster rice soup. Both were great with well balanced flavors but the lobster soupy rice took it for me. We finished with an assortment of desserts with my favorite being this little almond crunch bite. All of this paired with some amazing Ramos Pinto white wines. I would definitely go back when in the area.
