A nice resturant but an inkonsistent service which is not matching with the delicouse menu. And not the menu is the problem. 😉 Michelin kitchen with mid-level service does not macht. Here are the details: Food: a smal menu with a choise of several things like fish and meat. A bit confusing is the system of starters. The service presents you several times a choise of starters and you can choose if you want it or not. Bread and water is obligatory for 4,00€ pP. The main dishes are very good. Most of the choises you have is for two persons. Espacially the fish. Ambiente: you have a nice view to the river and the city. The restaurant is nice. Only the TV in the middle of the restaurant where you can watch football disturbed the nice moment you should enjoy. Service: here ist the problem. They give there best but it does not match with the great kitchen. Ypu get the feeling that they have no system. At the beginning of our dinner 4 waiters ask a several time if we want to order. And we said third times that we want to start with main dishes - no starters. The whole time we had not that feeling, for beeing theyre guests.

Didn’t know about this place before; popped in for some lunch. What a wonderful experience. Great tasting food, excellent service and although we did look like tourists in our shorts and t-shirts made to feel at home. Add this to your list for a bite if touring Portugal 🇵🇹

Second time visiting Turismo and I was not disappointed. The owner (or manager) went to every single table to describe the menu and sent through the appetizers they thought we would enjoy. The crab pate was an absolute stand out and the deep fried shrimp. The mains were beautiful to look at and had interesting flavours. I had the pork cheeks which seemed to have a Moroccan twist on them, falling apart with the touch of the fork. The cheesecake dessert what light and creamy. Staff were extremely attentive and friendly, fine dining but still cozy. No surprise it has a michelin star. Reservation seems to be necessary as nearly every table was books. Vaccination checks and plenty of social distancing between tables. Beautiful atmosphere and decor overlooking the river which is lit up by Christmas lights. Would say the the television in the main dining room does seem out of place. I will definitely be returning when I’m on holiday next.

Everything was excellent — from the starters with prawns, to the main courses of octopus and pork shank, and the desserts: the caramel & chocolate duo and the Abade de Priscos pudding. A perfect 10 out of 10! The restaurant is beautifully designed and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. Mr. Jorge is absolutely lovely and made each dish presentation feel special. We’ll definitely be back!

Turismo is a great place to visit: amazing food, great wine menu and a very nice view. Staff is friendly and helpful, service is as fast as we need it to have a great food experience. The restaurant is very nice, decoration is as pleasant as it should be.

Tasty food experience, nice location, anyway the service was a bit confusing and not as we’re much expected from a Michelin restaurant. It started with an irritating explanation of the starterts, which was sooo fast - we couldn’t understand a word. Afterwards a young waitress came and offering some options of starters, even after we’re insisting of directly jump in into the main courses. We’re also confused of some waiters asking the same questions what we’d like to order, even we did order to the other guy at first. We asked about the desert-options and what we’d expect from them, he was overwhelmed of our questions. In general nice dinner experience, anyway with the service quality and those flat tv showcasing football matches I don’t believe i would recommend a second visit.

The glassed-in dining area has good views of the river if the shades are up because the sun is not shining through the windows. However, all the glass and the low flat ceiling make for terrible acoustics, and a very unpleasantly noisy atmosphere in which to dine. While, a lovely view may be available through the windows, the interior ambience consists of a television tuned to a soap opera and plastic plants cascading down the walls. Not quite what one would expect from Michelin-suggested restaurant. I asked for a wine list and was presented with an inoperable QR code--nice touch. While service was not very attentive and quite slow, the food, on the other hand, was well prepared and tasty.

This place has really good food. I regret not trying the “Prato do dia” because it looked really tasty and it is a cheaper and faster deal. Some confusion with the table and order but nothing major. Recommended and we will be back if possible

Beautiful restaurant with an interesting inside area that resembles an old Portuguese house in the countryside. The place is well decorated and the people are super nice! There’s also a good outside area where we can eat and it even has a refreshing system for hot days. The food is very good, loved the mushrooms, the papas de sarrabulho and the octopus.

Attended a wedding party here, and I brought the wedding cake. They were attentive to our needs. They had good food, and plenty of it. It's a beautiful place, nice atmosphere. I was disappointed to find out , they threw the wedding cake topper away.

Wonderful authentic Portuguese restaurant/cafe serving beautiful fresh food to the locals and the El Camino pilgrims. Good selection of drinks to be had including a beautiful white port wine. We ate lunch and dinner in this exceptional establishment as we were staying in Pedra Furada. While the food and service were excellent on both occasions it was the humble presence of Antonio that made the day for us pilgrims (me, my partner, my daughter and my 12 year old football playing granddaughter). If you are looking for grace, humility and humour along with an excellent meal this is definitely the place to be. Obrigada António. Ps: Annika will definitely be back with her younger cousin before too long I suspect. 🤔

We wanted to try this place out because the fit out looked amazing. However, the food really was not anything special at all. I speak fluent Portuguese and would have appreciated the server letting us know that two of the dishes we were ordering were pretty much the same, the steak dishes had no flavour to them whatsoever. Not to mention, out of my entire trip to Portugal, this was the most overpriced meal I have had. Charging 7 euros for couvert is a bit much considering the location and we also were charged for the water which literally was tap water. I honestly feel as though I was robbed in plain daylight by eating at this restaurant.

A modern rustic restaurant, super cozy and heartwarming hospitality. The food was very delicious. I strongly recommend the polvo and the cabrito.

The food was very nice, however service was slow and the kitchen did an unforgivable action! My friend ordered her dish without mushrooms because she is allergic. We send it back and reminded the waitress that she is allergic and that is the reason she cannot have it. The waitress brought the food back in literally 4minutes the kitchen just handpicked the mushrooms out and they even left peaces inside. After telling this to waitress the poor girl told us that the kitchen cooked it from scratch which was obviously a lie. After all that there was not even a discount in the bill. Should of put 1 star l, but my food was very nice so the reason I am putting 2.

Good traditional Portuguese food with an outside terrace as well as tables inside. It seemed to be popular with local people as well as the passing trade.

Fruity duck with cheesy mushroom and asparagus risotto + the drunk pear were good but the rest of what makes a good night out - ambience, service, basic hygiene - we're sadly lacking. We were walked through the nice empty front restaurant area to a corridor table in the canteen like rear, so close to a pillar we needed to move the furniture ourselves to be able to sit down (the table wobbled annoying when trying to cut the duck with the blunt knives we'd been given and the superfluous wine bucket hanging from the side of the table rattled). We were treated to the hum of the dessert fridge and the sound of our ailing waiter's sniffing throughout - which I found quite sickening and off-putting. Said waiter's shirt was hanging out and all service was half-hearted and performed with hands that were frequently touching face+nose - think Faulty Towers! Oh, and they didn't have at least 2 of the whiskeys on the menu. In spite of basically acceptable food I was glad to leave and couldn't in good conscience recommend it to anyone. Shame :(

My husband and I ate here after a day of walking the Camino. The food was excellent at reasonable prices. I ordered the octopus and my husband had the soup and a hamburger and we each had a beer. Both dishes were very well presented and tasty! The beer was a very reasonable price. I think the cost of the entire bill was about 35 euros. The waiter was helpful, friendly, and spoke English. We didn't feel out of place in our minimalist Camino attire. I would eat here again.

We had an excellent lunch at Bangkok Thai Barcelos. We had a range of appetizers and Pad Thai, ending the meal with delicious mango and sticky rice. Highly recommend!

The food was outstanding, prepared very quickly and clearly with love and a refined sense of balance. I’m truly impressed by the woman chef who worked in the kitchen with such mastery — she seemed to do almost everything herself. The vegetables were crisp and firm, exactly as they should be in Thai cuisine. The Pad Thai was excellent, and the appetizers were also top-notch. The price-to-quality ratio is very good. One of the best Thai meals I've ever had and definitely the best meal I've had while in Portugal. The atmosphere, the fantastic service and the FOOD - amazing!! Three of us shared 3 entrees - the duck was incredible - moist and flavorful. The curry was perfectly seasoned, and the whole grilled fish was heaven! Don't miss this place. We had our fill our Portuguese food for a week and decided to try this little restaurant which was nearby the market place. Coming from South East Asia myself, this is really ONE OF THE BEST THAI FOOD I EVER HAD in my life. Every dish was prepared with love and you can see all the effort in little details like craved radish for a spring roll dish and toasted rice bits on the mango sticky rice. IF YOU LOVE SPICY LIKE ME, ASK THE CHEF! omg the tom yum was so amazing and as real as you can get in Thailand! Very happy tummy after this meal.

After walking 32km on the Camino we were keen to have an early supper and head back to rest. We arrived at the restaurant at opening time and were lucky enough to get seated. There appeared to be limited availability later on so well worth booking if you can. The food and drink were fabulous. We treated ourselves to a ‘surf and turf’ main. The octopus was succulent as were the prawns with the steak being cooked exactly how we ordered it. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

The goats cheese and strawberry starter must be the best starter I’ve ever had and the service is fantastic will definitely be returning!!!

But, only 2 stars because of extremely slow and poorly interested staff. Two ladies, waiters, didn't put any effort to at least look like they are busy or doing something else so they don't look 'bad' in our eyes waiting for them to serve us. We were waiting so long to be asked what we want to drink, then waited for that drinks to be served, and then to order food again. Endless waiting... Servise need or more waiters or better ones 🙏 Anyway, we will come again, food is amaizing!

The space is very modern and comfortable, making it a place that feels good to spend time and enjoy a meal. The meal I had was amazing (T-Bone). It was perfect and as good as other places that charge double the price. Which makes this a really amazing restaurant that is also a very good price for the quality. It also makes it a little different/special from other places the fact that the chef himself comes to every single table and asks how it was the meal and if people liked it. A nice touch that shows he cares about who visits his restaurant! For sure I will come back.

We spent two nights in Barcelos while walking the Camino Portugues, and had dinner here BOTH nights it was that good. My wife had the linguine with shrimp the first night, and it was so good I had it tonight. Other dishes we tried like the vegetarian Portobello mushrooms with mashed potato, and the cod with Panko breadcrumbs were excellent too. Good local wines at reasonable prices, and genuinely nice and helpful young wait staff just add to the overall experience. Under different circumstances we would stay in Barcelos again just to have more meals here, but unfortunately we have to keep moving on along the Camino!

Fantastic service by Luis, he was helpful explaining the dishes and great at recommendations. The Menu was on an iPad and available in english but very truncated. Pork ribs were tender and came with rice and fries- we requested for veges instead of fries. Grilled bream was moist and a nice size for 2. Goat was tender according to our dining mate. We had the best dessert in Portugal-a delectable ice cream in pie form drizzled w whisky a delicious recommendation by Luis.

Rather unassuming when seen from the outside, however worth going up the stairs to dine here. Portions are large, with both meat and fish options prepared on the barbeque downstairs. It was very popular on the Monday night when we visited.

It is a place to recommend, grilled pulpo has just killed my mind. I do not want to go further(el camino)...I want to eat more!!! Tomato salat as well, fish fillet...perfect.

Really nice food and atmosphere. We got the charcoal grilled chicken (a MUST get) and the pork ribs and sausage with rice. Price wise it is perfect too. Per person the food is ~€9. Perfect for pilgrims. The only complaint is the ribs dish was excessively salty, but we think that may have been a one off error and hopefully not representative.

I have been to Divinal Restaurant during my visit to Barcelos with two friends who are local and upon my arrival I was surprised to see the restaurant manager without mask. We ordered two lasagnes and chicken with salads, it didn’t take long for the food to arrive, however the lasagnes were absolutely cold from inside, which made me believe that food was frozen and microwaved, as the cheese on the side melted however in the middle it was cold. We approached the staff member, who clearly doesn’t accept any sort of criticism and attacked us. I was gobsmacked with the attitude of the staff member, so we decided to return the food, paid the bill and left. That’s wasn’t one of my best experiences and I’ll definitely not return.

Very quiet location and a warm welcoming Maitre'D. Good food and the wine was good as well. The vegetable rissotto was salty and even the calf spare ribs were salty. A bit on the pricy side.

I came here with some family because I was told the food was good. The main reason was because they have cozido on Thursdays. I ordered the cozido for 2 and the pescada for 2. The cozido was a very small order and it did not have the traditional meat like pigs feet, ears and tail. We had to ask the server if he would bring us some of those pieces and he did because he realized that they didn’t put any of those pieces on the dish. The pescada dish was good. As for the service it was not the greatest. We waited a long time for the server to come to the table to order more wine and later waited for him to come over to order coffee. All in all the place is nice and I just wish I had a better experience.

Visiting Barcelos for the first time -- Gulli Bites is a delicious introduction to this beautiful & friendly place! Elsa (manager & chef) served us up mouth-watering bruschetta, pasta carbonara, pork belly & sausage with roast potatoes, finishing off with a gorgeous peach cake (made by Elsa's mother). They have good draft beer & wine; I had the house white & it was excellent. It's a tiny place with tons of charm. Even as strangers we felt right at home. Highly recommended!

Dinner is reasonably priced, and the daily lunch menu is a terrific deal. Don’t miss her Saturday brunch when it’s on offer — incredible spread!
