Restaurant
Methexis is a picturesque coastal town located on a small peninsula in the southwestern part of Crete, between two bays and along the shores of the Libyan Sea. It has been a popular destination for many years due to its beautiful beaches and pleasant surroundings. The village offers authentic traditional restaurants with fresh ingredients sourced from local producers. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes, including grilled meat, casseroles, oven-baked dishes like moussaka, and stuffed vegetables.
Lovely place to have dinner in Paleochora with a beautiful view! The octopus and the dessert were amazing!

Beautiful outdoor patio with a large menu to choose from. They make delicious Greek speciality dishes everyday. Fresh caught fish to choose from and traditional Greek dishes. Beautiful view of the ocean and mountains.
Andrea D — Google review
If you’re looking for an authentic Greek dining experience in Paleochora, this traditional tavern is an absolute gem! Nestled in a beautiful spot with breathtaking views of the Cretan landscape, it offers the perfect mix of atmosphere, flavor, and hospitality. The highlight of our meal was the lamb—tender, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection.
Kostas B — Google review
Perfect. Everything excellent. Food, service, view. Definitely recommended.
Dimitris S — Google review
Methexis in Palaiochora is an unforgettable spot for authentic Cretan food with a beautiful sea view. We tried the octopus in wine sauce, which was tender and full of flavor, the slow-cooked lamb, and the kleftiko — all perfectly prepared and deeply satisfying. The tsigariasto was another highlight, rich and hearty, and the tirokafteri (htipiti) added the perfect spicy, creamy touch alongside the mains. Generous portions, traditional recipes, and the relaxed seaside atmosphere make this a must-visit when in Palaiochora.
Gabriel D — Google review
We were immediately intrigued to try this place given the stellar Google reviews and we certainly were not disappointed. Came for a casual lunch and were met with warmth and excellent service. Situated right on the coast, you will find yourself both captivated by the view and the food. We all ordered different dishes and tried each other's and every dish was beautiful. I can especially recommend the grilled calamari which was the best fish I had eaten all vacation. A lovely range of delicious coffees too. And then once we had paid, the friendly staff brought us ice cold refreshing watermelon. What a lovely place.
Sam S — Google review
Was recommended this restaurant from someone who had been a lot so were looking forward to it with high expectations. We arrived to a busy evening, got almost the last table. The waiter who came to take our order was so busy having a heated conversation with another waiter whilst we were mid order that he really wasn't listening to us and didnt make us feel welcome at all. This culminated in one of our meals arriving quickly but the other one not arriving until over an hour after we had sat down. We had to remind them we had ordered it and it had obviously not been put through to the kitchen properly. 1 hour 15 minutes later it arrived but one of us finished our meal before the other had even arrived. Our server was totally uninterested in us and at no time did we get an apology. It felt like we were being ignored and the whole service was so disappointing. The grilled meatball and Fries that finally arrived after 1 hr 15 mins was totally underwhelming and not worth waiting for. However the cretan salad was lovely, the vine leaves and stuffed zucchini flowers lovely but the server needs to realise he let everything down so much as he said nothing welcoming to us, no smiles, no friendliness and more importantly no apology for us having to wait so long. Cretan hospitality is amazing but definitely not here.

Restaurant
Caravella Restaurant is a charming eatery located just 300 meters from Paleochora center, offering delightful meals with coastal views. It's the perfect place to unwind after exploring the city. While the prices are on the higher side, especially for fish dishes, their raw sea urchin appetizer and fresh black snapper are standout items. The restaurant is known for its expertise in cooking fish and serves tasty local dishes accompanied by delicious olive oil.
what a fantastic meal at Caravella restaurant our first night here and lobster was amazing. Great service and ambience
Paula K — Google review
Had been recommended by a friend but unfortunately it was a let down (Wednesday 14/8 for dinner). Expected something better from a 7.5 euro per 100gr golden grouper kind of place. Slow service, mistake in the bill, mediocre salad & kaltsounia. Would also change the signage and refresh the whole customer experience approach which is not just providing tablets instead of a hard copy menu (unless we were so unlucky). Pity because the location is nice and it looks popular.
Kostas K — Google review
Great Cretan food! We had the grilled calamari and linguine with mussels in garlic and wine sause. Amazing good dishes! The biggest surprice though was the Mastelo cheese. It is from the Greek island Chios and served with home made marmelade from tomatoes wich the ladyowner of the restaurant picks herselfe and prepare. The best cheese we have had so far!
Siv F — Google review
We found this lovely restaurant last and couldn’t resist visiting it again. We ended up eating there every night. Their quality of food is constant. As good food is a big part of our holiday I can say that this part was perfect.
Erkki T — Google review
Had amazing linguini with shrimps in garlic & wine sauce and grilled dorade. You can select the fish you want from display. The spicy feta cream is amazing too and the staff very friendly.
FOC — Google review
The food was delicious both times we visited. The shrimp saganaki was amazing, and the grilled octopus was also really tasty, though the presentation could have been a bit better—but the flavour made up for it. The giant beans were lovely, and I’d definitely recommend them. The complimentary raki and apple or pear dessert were a nice, refreshing touch. Service wasn’t quite as attentive when we went on the weekend, but to be fair the place was packed. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be going back.
Lego T — Google review
A restaurant with very nice atmosphere and sea view but the taste of the food wasn’t something special, in contrast with the previous years. First of all,the guy at the front of the restaurant who sit us on the table was not very polite. After that the Greek “fava” had a e very Smokey flavour like something burnt. Also the shrimps on the shrimps pasta hadn’t had their Gastrointestinal tract removed and we had to do it ourselves.. red flag. The waiters were polite , and the kalamari was perfect. They have big variety of different types of wine. And very nice atmosphere.
Trip O — Google review
Unfortunately the food was overcooked and tasteless. A shame for a restaurant specialising in fresh fish and seafood. The staff were very nice, the setting is lovely. Just need to cook the food better!

Castles
Castel Selino, also known as Kastelli Selino, has a rich history dating back to 1272 when it was built by a Venetian general. The fortress offers stunning views over the town and sea approaches and is currently undergoing excavation and restoration. Despite the toll exacted by Venetian, Ottoman, and German occupation, visitors can still enjoy panoramic views of the sea and the town below from this historical site.
Great views of Paleochora. The ruins of this cool fort date back to 1279 and was used during Crete’s Venetian and Ottoman years. Photographs from 9 June 2021.
John Q — Google review
Not much to see, but great views over the village and ocean, and a nice place to wander about and have a look at the castle remains. There is a board at the entrance with some historical details which is useful. Definitely worth a visit to the castle if you’re in Paleochora but not worth travelling here to visit the castle alone.
Sue V — Google review
Not a lot to see, but interesting none the less. Views were worth the visit
Sharon T — Google review
Interesting history and fantastic views. Walk past the fort to the edge of the cliff for more views East and West.
Ben A — Google review
There is not much left of this venetian fortress that used to control the trade routes on the southern part of the island. You can still enjoy the view of the sea and the town below

Set above the town the fortress is being excavated/restored, and has views over the town and sea approaches. Venetian, Ottoman, and German occupation exacted a toll on the fortress, but it is worth the climb for the views.

MasaSoura Restaurant is a highly regarded dining establishment in Paleochora, offering a diverse range of cuisine from traditional Greek to international fusion. The restaurant aims to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for all patrons, with attentive service and delicious dishes prepared by the chef. Visitors can expect fresh and flavorful food, including well-prepared octopus, homemade salads with sweet and sour dressings, Greek salad with Cretan feta, tender meatballs, and zucchini balls.
Excellent restaurant in all ways. Food was fresh and delicious. Lovely laid-back vibe and service great. We came here in low season but the restaurant was still busy at lunchtime. The salad I had was full of lots of different things with a sweet and sour dressing (think vinegar, honey and oil not like sweet/sour dressings from the Uk). Bread was fresh and the courgette balls were perfect. Even the complimentary dessert was tasty and I usually don’t like these. Great place and will be straight back here next time we visit Paleochora.

One of the best restaurants to check out! We had red beet root salad, tzatziki and fried zucchini chips as starters, beef stifaki and pork souflaki with some excellent white house wine. (Would give 6 stars :))

Taverna Inochoos in Paleocheora is a popular dining spot where locals and tourists alike flock for delicious meals. The restaurant offers a variety of options, from local roasted lamb to fresh seafood and traditional dishes. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful staff, as well as the quality of the food. The menu includes items like grilled anchovies, meat platters, Cretan salad, and grilled swordfish.
During our stay in paleochora we went 2 times to this restaurant. The staff are always very friendly and treat you like family. As always the restaurant serves excellent dishes. Love the sea platter especially!

Can't gate any better and more authentic than this Greek restaurant, at least for a tourist like me. Super delicious food, staff that makes it happen in a very friendly and fun way. The place was always full but somehow we get a table. Well worth visiting

Very delicious food and quite some vegetarian options. We had the avocado salad, zucchini balls, and something called imam or iman (?) which was eggplant made in the oven all delicious and stuff. Service was great and the guy who took our order quickly picked up on us being vegetarian without us needing to be explicit. Very welcoming place

We were looking for something real, not too touristy and not too flashy, with excellent local food... and we found it right here! Possibly the best taverna of our two-week stay. Friendly service, food packed with flavour, and unpretentious. We went for the gigantes beans, okra and spicy cheese dip. There are lots of other vegetarian/ vegan options too.

Best service, great wholesome home cooked food. Tried a lot of different dishes over the years, all of them taste great. Very attentive, friendly and efficient staff. Working in service as well, I can't help enjoying how well they all work together to make sure the customers are satisfied.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. We spent 4.5 days in Paleochora and ate out every meal. We had dinner here on our final night and it was AMAZING. We ordered the meat platter for 2 with grilled vegetables, Cretan salad, and 0.5 l of house white wine. Everything was the best food of our vacation! This is saying a lot since we were just in Istanbul and Cairo and had delicious food prior to arriving in Crete. The staff is so very friendly. We had lunch here a few days previously and they remembered us and shook our hands and greeted us warmly. Wonderful, attentive service. Do yourself a favor and eat at this restaurant. You won't regret it.

We reserved a table following a recommendation from our accommodations owner and it was a sincerely good choice !! Friendly and attentive service ( not rushed ) was just perfect for us . This was coupled with the food being Brilliant - The Aubergine ( Imam ) starter was simply top notch . We followed with the superb pork medallions and a Delicious aged cut of Tagliata (with chimichurri on the side ) . A lovely bottle of Malagousia accompanied the food and our evening was complete . Highly recommended and we will be hopefully be able to return ( Snappily !) prior to the season close . Until next time : Mark & T

A perfect combination of amazing food and exceptional hospitality. Without a doubt, one of the best dining experiences in Crete!

We had the famous Spare Ribs and they even exceeded our expectation, the most soft and tender spareribs I probably ever had. And the dessert was just amazing (fabulous cheese cake!). The place is placed directly at the sea with a fabulous view. Giorgos, the owner, is a very friendly, warm hearted and funny guy and took time for his customers. Also the whole staff was absolutely nice and made us feel at home. We definately will come back!

Restaurant
Castro restaurant & cafe bar is a relatively new establishment that has quickly gained popularity among both tourists and locals. Situated near the old ruins of the castle, it offers a stunning view and a comfortable atmosphere. The food is described as delicious, fresh, and exquisite, with friendly and attentive staff providing excellent service. Guests have praised the variety of dishes offered, including grilled veggies and tuna tataki.
Good. This is good! Opened last year in August, the place is still not crowded but attended by a mix of tourists (couples and families) and locals, the latter who usually stay at the top of the building just for drinks. The place is clean, the view is great, the food is good! Also the service is really nice. They made a mistake and brought some grilled veggie we did not ask for and they told us to keep for free. At the end, raki and a nice chocolate mousse on the house. Well done guys!
Andrea M — Google review
Castro restaurant aims to provide better quality food and experience, and the premise is promising: it lies just under the fort in Paleiochora which stands proud on a small rock between the two beaches. The views are amazing. It is a lovely place to chill at the end of the afternoon. The staff help with making the experience more enjoyable too and the choice of cocktails is good. But apart from the virgin cocktail which is tasteful, the other ones were not done very well. Most disappointed in the espresso martini that was clearly missing a sweetener (no kalhua?). We had food below after our drinks and seelcted a variety of dishes. Firstly, there were barely any snacks to order or small appetisers to share (we were starving), and then our mains proved to not uphold the quality and prices that the restaurant boasted. There was one meagre carrot with my salmon, and similar with the tuna. The prawn linguini came with a total of 3 shrimps and was lukewarm and the chicken's mash potatoes were equally cold. To top it off, the young waiter really didn't know her wines and got the order wrong. Only redeeming item was the tuna steak which was very tasteful and well prepared. Whilst these might be details, they spoiled the experience a bit, especially at the prices involved.
Jeremy L — Google review
Update: unfortunately I need to update my review after four years. The food is not in the same standard and the prices have risen dramatically. I wouldn’t recommend this place anymore. My original review four years ago for reference: Best restaurant in town and probably in all of southern Crete. High high-end cuisine and attention to detail. Get the red beet salad! Very fair prices for the high standard of quality.

Gialiskari Beach is a hidden gem located just 4 km from the charming town of Paleochora in Crete, making it an ideal spot for those seeking tranquility away from the crowds. The journey to this stunning beach involves a scenic drive or a leisurely walk along a dirt track, but every step is worth it as you approach the breathtaking pebble shoreline nestled between two cliffs.
One of my favourite places in Crete. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, with cristal clear water, and the restaurant on the beach offering really tasty meals. Highly recommended! 😀

Nice and easy hike out and back from Paleochora on a hot summer day. Beach is not really worth it considering you get charged for sunbeds even that far out of town.

Our first time on the southern side of Crete – Paleochora turned out to be something we really loved! You live alongside the locals in this small village, which was a positive thing. Even the bus ride over the mountain from Chania was an experience in itself, not to mention the views from the bus window. Gialiskari Beach became our favorite beach, and we went there three times during our stay in Paleochora. It’s about 4.5 km each way, along a varied and scenic route. We went there in the afternoons so we could walk back at sunset – it was beautiful.
Jörgen H — Google review
Very nice beach. A little rough to get too with the car. We went in February and filmed one of our kettlebell workouts on this beach. The weather was great and I had a dip in the water afterward, although most people would probably think it too cold.
Taco F — Google review
Favorite beach, small pebbles, very clear water, beautiful scenery. If you don't have a vehicle you can go with the small shuttle bus from the port in the morning and back in the afternoon or just hike, it's a very beautiful walk. Times for the shuttle is posted on poles and ticket offices in town. There is a small tavern with what you need as well. If you want shade you have to bring an umbrella or rent a sunbed. My best advice is to do a small hike/walk along the coast away from Paleochora towards Sougia, just a small walk will reveal the most beautiful coastline.
Iris H — Google review
An excellent beach with a nice atmosphere. You can choose different types of areas. Beach taverns offer good food. Clean toilets. transport is arranged from Paleochora.
Heli B — Google review
Beautiful beach, head to the furthest beach away from the one with thw beach bar and generator. The second one is much smaller shingle and beautiful clear water. Beach bar and sunbeds if required.
Emma T — Google review
We went to Gialiskari today 9/10 and escaped the winds on the other side of Paleochora. The road in is a bit rough so just take your time and go slowly so that you avoid stone damage. The beach itself was a delight. The first section with umbrellas looked fine but we walked further along the beach to the nudist section. Here we paid £12 for 2 sunbeds and umbrella, took our gear off and enjoyed the day in the nude. We were however a bit shocked in the temperature of the water as it was so much colder than Plakias a couple of days ago.

The Libyan Princess Hotel overlooks the beach and provides contemporary rooms with panoramic views.
Beautiful views. Clean water. Everywhere stones and pebbles. Not as windy as the one on the other side of the town

A wonderful beach with tavern where tasty Greek foof is served. 2 sunbeds + umbrella only 7 Euros, free parking.
Valentin L — Google review
Paid 6 € for 2 beds, parking also available. Very calm and not too windy as on the other side of town. Shade under trees and very clear water
FOC — Google review
Very clean and calm water. There was a windy weather on the other side of the town on the other beach but here was as calm as it gets. First few meters are rock and pebbles after it’s just sand. A bit boring for snorkeling but still good nonetheless. Parking is no issue as you can park by the shore all the way.
Ivan D — Google review
I really love this beach. The water is crystal clear and it’s much quieter if you walk further down. The families with children usually stay near the road, so once you go past that area it feels very calm and peaceful. The only downside is that the sunbeds are now €8, whereas I’ve seen in other reviews they used to be much cheaper.

Interesting beach...also known as Votsala beach...such a clear water, even it was a little bit cold in june

Didnt like it much. Not that its bad. But not worth it with children.

Greek restaurant
Galaxy Restaurant, a renowned seafood eatery established in 1980 as a family venture, resides in close proximity to Paleochora's beach in southern Chania. Offering picturesque vistas of the Libyan Sea, this establishment has become my go-to dining spot since 2016. The cuisine is exceptional, particularly the delectable fresh calamari and rabbit stew. Additionally, their prices are reasonable and the service is top-notch.
Right in front of the sea and next to the beautiful beach to the east of Palaiochora, we had an amazing lunch with the best traditional Greek and Cretan dishes. Staff was kind, quick and welcoming. Recommended!
Marco C — Google review
The servers probably can't speak much English, it seems like they're ashamed to speak up. Which means I got something else than I ordered, but that's not a big problem for me. The misunderstanding was mutual, so it was probably partly my fault that I didn't ask the man to repeat himself. (I heard him asking "just a salad?", but he was probably making sure I wanted tuna salad, which I didn't.) But whatever, that's not a reason for a low rating to me. The tuna salad was ok, too. What I really didn't like was how cold the waiters seemed. I'm used to everyone being extremely nice in Palaiochora, and although these men at least smiled from time to time (with the "customer service smile"), I felt unwelcome. Moreover, there were only 2 tables and around 4 waiters, but they would still let me sit there for like 20 minutes with empty dishes, just standing there and looking over my head. Same thing when it came to paying, I got the folder with the cheque, I put in my money, and they kept ignoring me again. I also got bread that I didn't ask for, and I didn't even touch it, but got charged for it anyway. I still tipped, because I guess that might just be how they're taught to do it and none of their fault, but it wasn't a very pleasant experience for me overall. I'm glad they have good ratings, I just can't say the same.
Kateřina S — Google review
I can sum up our visit in two words: really disappointing! The service was appalling, the food was mediocre and to top it all the 'welcome bread' ( the waitress's words ) was itemised on the bill! Unfortunately we cannot recommend a visit. Fortunately for us we know that this restaurant visit is NOT representative of Greek hospitality.

This restaurant makes food for tourists. Honestly, this was one of the worst meals I’ve had in a while, and the worst meal I’ve ever eaten in Greece. We ordered octopus, fish, calamari, vlita, and dakos- pretty much everything was bland and the octopus was over cooked and had the consistency of rubber. The worst part of it all was the price, this was the worst meal we had and cost the most money! Best part of the dinner was the view. If you go to galaxy just go for the drinks and not the food.

The place is at a nice location but thats actually it. Food below average. Servece slow and careless. Not recommended!

Great place to eat with a sea view, see the colours of the sunset on the mountains nearby and eat good Greek food at reasonable prices. Last night we had slow cooked lamb, cuttlefish with local greens, and a big plate of beans in tomatoes, all with their delicious family wine which is like a rich rose.

I really liked this restaurant. All the dishes were super delicious and the service was quite good.We were proactive to book from the sea side and it was absolutely a romantic dinner. We have ordered eggplant salad, skaltounia, kolokithoanthoi. The main course was not in my taste( pasta with lamb) but it was well cooked Highly recommended!

Delicious and fresh food. The menu differs a lot compared to most of the standard taverns in the area. It contains some quite exquisite meals, salads and starters. The staff is very friendly. We'll be back next year. Compliments to the chef.

Our favorite restaurant while in Crete, we went back twice! Very friendly and knowledgeable waiters, healthy good with a care for ingredients. We had the fresh fish, lamb and calamari and can recommend it all. Highly recommend.
Rachel R — Google review
It's probably the best place to eat in Paleochora! We've eaten here twice, and it was super delicious! We've had here Taramosala, Aubergines Salad, Tzatziki, Chicken Fillet with grilled Veggie, and probably the best thing I've eaten is some time: Pork Shank. I recommend all their food and the place itself. Nice people serving there, good location, amazing views, and low prices! You'll get on the house some Raki and desserts!
Andrei B — Google review
The grilled calamari, spicy shrimps (not pictured), and taramosalata were delicious. we found the dough slightly too thick for the capelletti although it was very flavorful. The smoked eggplant salad was unexpected as it turned out to be a purée (think baba ganoush) rather than a salad as described

The service and food was really nice. We had the beetroot risotto with calamari, ravlings and the spicy shrimps. We got some crispy dip with some sort of dip as a snack before on the house and after we got some aged raki and mastix liqour. The price was also good. I would love to come here again.

Very nice restaurant with amazing views. Magical atmosphere during the night with all the lights and lively sounds. Absolutely great spicy shrimps buns! Food was good, althought steak a bit chewy. I visited the To peiratiko bar restaurant funky taverna twice during my two-week stay in Paleochora. It is undoubtedly one of the top restaurants in the area, and I had tried many others. The staff is exceptionally friendly and speaks good English. The fresh calamares they serve are absolutely delicious, surpassing any I have ever tasted before. In addition to their regular menu, they offer daily new suggestions, including amazing fresh tuna and ceviche of tuna.
The staff here is SO sweet it’s ridiculous! The starter they bring out is delicious, and all the food tasted fresh and cooked with so much love. Will definitely be coming back here during my trip!

We were served by a lovely older lady who did everything within her power to make us feel welcome. Despite the fact that she hardly spoke English and we don’t speak Greek - we were able to enjoy an astonishing traditionally Greek vegetarian lunch. Truly recommend going there when in Paleochora

Best looking and best tasting food in paleochora. Service is super friendly and I just loved their Dakos. We also tried a lot of other dishes (been there two times during our stay) and they all have been just perfect. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. Important: you can only pay cash.

What a pleasant change from the standard souvlaki and pork fillets which prevails in Paleochora. Food is really tasty here. The choice was different and so tempting. The flavours were mouth-wateringly delicious. Maybe not to everyone’s taste but we really loved it all. Despite it being full, the service was prompt and with happy smiles all evening. Highly recommended

During our 2 week stay in Paleochora we went here 2 times for diner. Its an excellent cosy restaurant in greek atmosphere and music. If you are looking for more special food than most of the other restaurants serve you in this town (traditional greek dishes), this is the place to be. The price/quality is really good, and the dishes are prepared on high level. The staff is very friendly and social.

I had a fantastic evening at Olaya Restaurant in Olaya. The service was excellent, and the cuisine was incredibly flavorful. Each dish that I tried was truly delicious. Among the appetizers, I highly recommend sampling the tempura shrimps, Vietnamese chicken rolls, and kataifiI mizithra cheese. This dining establishment is a must-visit for anyone in Palaiochora.
Amazing food, and amazing service. The place was simple and refreshing, and that’s honestly all that’s needed. Besides that, the food pleased me and my friends equally, since we blindly picked this restaurant for our night out. Its truly a hidden gem, highly recommend paying a visit!

Small hidden tavern with a lovely back garden and charming, cozy atmosphere. Very extravagant fusion cuisine with carefully prepared dishes. Staff is extremely polite, bravo! Visually, the dishes were more impressive than the taste, there’s still room for improvement. Keep in mind: this is not traditional Cretan food, but a mix of Asian, Japanese, and Greek cuisine.

I went to this place two nights ago based on its very high review rating and the interesting looking menu. I ordered 'spicy pork chops with yakitori' and it was superb. Great flavours, two pork chops and rice for €13. Unbeatable. I'll be back there this evening to have it again! Excellent, helpful service. For the quality of the food, I doubt there's a better restaurant in Paleochora.

Once you've found it, you want to come back again, and again ...and again. The dishes at Olaya are so exquisite - and yet down to earth. Each dish tells a different story of Mediterranean / Asian fusion kitchen. I was lucky enough to meet the incredible chef - her creativity and talents are incredible, her way of combining different genres/styles is so unique. Everyone here, including the owners, puts all their heart and soul into this place and tries to make your experience as relaxed as possible. Taverna 'O Dinos' is a Greek restaurant that offers amazing cuisine and is situated in a beautiful location. The prices are very reasonable, although the service can be slow at times. The portions are generous, and the meat dishes and starters have a homemade quality to them. Some recommended dishes include the Cretan salad, Mixed Kaltsounia, Stuffed zucchini with cheese, and Mix Grill. The latter can easily satisfy three people despite being advertised for two.

Probably the best taverna in Paleochora. Deliciuos good quality food. Stuffed vine leaves were the best we had. When we asked for fresh fish, the waitress invited us to the kitchen to choose our own fish. The tables by the seaside (starting from 7:30 PM) are so beautiful, but be cautious of the wind. Top class!

Top in Paleochora! Unfortunately the niveau of restaurants in Paleochora has become very turistic and more expensive. Taverna Dino's remains top quality of the food and at very reasonable pricing. The very big and good tasting Dorada at 19 Euro!

One of the smallest restaurants in the area, but should certainly not be overlooked. Definitely should try the snails in rosemary, one of the only places i know that serve this. Very friendly staff that also prepare good food.

Amazing food and location, at very good prices, only the service was a bit slow and not sharp. The portions are huge and the quality of the meat and the starters was like homemade. Ordered Cretan salad, Mixed Kaltsounia and Stuffed zucchini with cheese, and Mix Grill that in the menu says is for 2 but could easily feed 3 people! Well done for the quality and the quantity plus for the fact it had many lamb chops. Amazing quality/price ratio!! The house wine could improve a little. Would come again for the food and the scenery.

I had a satisfying dining experience at Christos Restaurant where I enjoyed a tasty meal consisting of tzatziki, shrimps, and a glass of white wine. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was both delicious and reasonably priced. One particular highlight was the waitress's recommendation of Greek-style shrimps which were truly delightful. The restaurant itself offered a pleasant sea view and had a warm and familiar atmosphere thanks to its kind staff.
A Hidden Gem in Crete! We had an unforgettable experience at this lovely taverna! The atmosphere was warm and authentic, with traditional Cretan music and a view that takes your breath away. We dined here twice with four adults and two small children – and we’ll definitely be coming back a third time. The kitchen consistently delivers: the grilled octopus is among the best you’ll find in Paleochora, the vegetables are paper-thin and perfectly cooked without being drowned in oil, and the beef chop was full of flavor and grilled to a perfect medium rare, as ordered. The value for money is excellent. Even with plenty of options along the harbor promenade, it’s well worth the short walk here. Especially noteworthy: the service was not only highly professional but also wonderfully attentive to our children, allowing us to enjoy our post-meal coffee in peace. Fresh ingredients, high standards, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere – highly recommended.

So, there are those high end, known and less known, cocktail bars in the world (or other local) capitals you've heard about and probably went there, perhaps even numerous times and you thought that was it, all fine, and then you come in to Agios Bar. So what's all about? Very simple: genuine people, enjoying creating authentic -the way you like it- cocktails in a cozy, feel good assembled bar under impactful and surprisingly eclectic music genres creating real(ly) memorable experiences. This bar is a must, especially if you're into cocktails - the bartender is simply an alchemist! We had Bamboo, Trees of life, Mandrill (my favourite), and some delicious fruity shots. Loved the sustainable metallic straws as well! Coffee is good too, and the mixed fruit juice is a proper breakfast by itself.

An hidden gem. We were in Paliocoras for a day and we set at this bar mostly for the colourful vibe of the place. We found what probably is the best cocktail bar in Crete. The cocktails and the study behind them are incredible! I loved the idea to use local flavours like honey and raki. The attention to the details in the menu, with the story of each cocktail, it really shows the passion and professionalism behind the bar. Everyone was super nice and experienced in their job. They know how to transmit their passion. We had to head back home, otherwise we would have easily spent the night trying all the cocktails. Keep it up! We hope to come back one day.

This is the bar to be in Paleochora! It is located in the heart of the town. While you watch people or have a nice conversation you enjoy the best drinks in town and chat with Giorgos the barman! Mayebe the prices might be a bit more than in other bars but the ambience, service and quality of the drinks are worth it! My wifes favorite drink is the "Green bubble Gin", you have to try it! I usually had a Negron, an Ouzo with Ice (Ouzo ton pagaton) or a "megali Mamos" 👌

Much more than a "night life" institution in Paleochora. It's an all day spot but it really comes to life in the evening. The cocktails are simply superb. Try the challenging See-through Margarita (with seaweed from Gramvousa) or the middle-of-the-road Twisted Spicy Mango (based on gin). The Chiquita (with various rums) is another fruity choice. A must!

Bar
To Liri tis Papias is a bar in Paleochora that offers an impressive selection of cocktails. While some customers have mentioned slight inconsistencies in the bar's signature drinks, it could be attributed to different bartenders or variations in their preparation methods. However, one drink that comes highly recommended is the Buddha Shot. On a good day, this beverage provides a truly memorable experience.
An incredible coffee shop experience! The coffee was rich and flavorful, with a variety of blends to satisfy every taste. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a cozy vibe that makes it a great spot to relax or work. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to offer recommendations. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or just looking for a great place to unwind, this spot is a must-visit!
George V — Google review
Great cocktails to be found here. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars on my account is due to their changing aspects of their signature cocktails over 2 consecutive days of visiting, either indicating different people working on the bar at different levels of experience or a non standard manner or recreating their signature cocktails. If you decide to visit you must try the Buddha Shot depicted. On a good day this is a memorable experience to be had!

We haven't been here at night only during the day during the "off-season" and Niko makes the most amazing food. Honestly anything he cooks for you is amazing! No dish is the same the next day but tastes just as good if not better. We look forward to come to Palaichora just to eat Nikos food! His bougatsa is the best I have ever tasted, his omelette is amazing, club sandwich is out of this world, the ice cream so tasty. My son calls him the best cook in the world and I agree! Prices are very very reasonable considering how fresh the food is and how good the quality is. Coffee is great also! Everything is just so fresh and good

The BEST cocktails made to perfection, in the perfect glass with the perfect kind of ice cube for each drink. Great service from lovely staff and always super cool music, every time I visited over the last 4 days. Cheers!!

Probably the best bar on earth. Impossible to describe the vibe so go see for yourself. Make sure to try at least one freddo cappuccino and one Mama Helen's cocktail here while you're in Paleochora. 💙

Bar
Monika's Garden Wine Bar is an exceptional establishment that boasts a delightful ambiance and an extensive selection of wines. The knowledgeable staff, picturesque surroundings, and delectable snack platters make it a truly remarkable destination. What sets this bar apart is the sommelier's ability to remember patrons' preferences, resulting in personalized wine choices. Additionally, the serene backyard provides a tranquil place to unwind after a day at the beach.
We came here everyday during our 4 day visit. The environment is charming and the wine is so tasty. Of course Crete wine would be as great as all of the food on this island. The service is great and the guys were knowledgeable about all of the winemakers. Highly recommend!
Hailey D — Google review
We had a fantastic wine tasting experience with Andy. We are from California and had no clue about wines from Crete. Andy guided us through his choices, selecting a sequence of local grapes and winemakers. He added some snacks and cheeses to complement the selection for an awesome experience.

This place is so good I almost don’t want to tell you about it…. From the knowledge of the staff, to the gorgeous setting, extensive wine list, and snack platters there is nothing to change! The icing on the cake is the sommelier remembered our previous preference to make future wine choices. You will visit her more than once on your trip to Palaiochora!

Thick Sand is a popular beach destination with its large umbrellas providing shade for a reasonable price. The watermelon servings are delicious, and the water is pleasant for swimming with visible fish around the rocky areas. Visitors can rent paddle boards and other water sports gear, making it suitable for families, friends, or solo travelers. The beach offers amenities such as sunbeds, umbrellas for rent, free showers and changing rooms, and wheelchair accessibility.
Very nice large sandy beach in Paleochora. The beach on the other side is pebbles and smaller so this one is better if you want sunbeds and umbrellas but still have space. The beach is long as well as wide so plenty of space and never far away from the nearby cafes and bars. Perfect combination. We visited on the same day in late October that we also went to Elafonissi beach and this beach in Paleochora was much quieter than Elafonissi. Didn’t go in the water but it looked shallow and clear. Area of the beach looked clean and well kept as we walked along.

Nice Long Beach with thick sand. We paid €8 for the orange loungers. There are plenty of showers on the beach and several restaurants for drinks or food.
Lisa M — Google review
Spent there whole day, the most comfy beds we have ever experienced and the sunset was simply stunning. The service was very friendly.
Magdalena C — Google review
Really long beach. Lots of places where you can rent sunbeds. You can also go further and find some quiet place. Water is clean, perfect for young kids as the water doesn't get deep to quickly. Can be a bit windy some times but still ok at the time we went there.
Nicolas B — Google review
if you come here from the northern part of the island, it's not worth the trip. the sunbeds cost us 26 euros, nothing included ofc, it was very windy and it creates small wind tornados on the beach wich will eventually get sand all over you. the restaurants nearby are pretty expensive and the food is mediocre at best. not the best experience, but no the worst either
Sergiu U — Google review
Very nice gold sandy beach. Water was warm and good to swim even at the end of September when in the north part of the island was raining. It is amazing. There are happy hour bars, sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, free showers and changing rooms, wheelchair accessible. Totally recommend it! Suitable for families, groups of friends, or even of you want to be on your own.
Mara-Alina D — Google review
A lively but not too crowded section near the town where you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas or do your own thing. Just at the edge of town there is a naturist section where you can also rent loungers and umbrellas. EUR6 per day for two people last time I was there. Very relaxed atmosphere...

We really enjoyed our day at this beautiful beach ⛱️! The water is very clean and there is plenty of space to place your belongings and relax. Many shops and restaurants around.

Vegetarian restaurant
"ThirdEye" in Paleochora is a unique vegetarian restaurant that has been serving only vegetarian dishes for the past 25 years. The menu offers a variety of fresh and delicious options, including vegan dishes. The restaurant is known for its upmarket and expensive dining experience, making it an ideal choice after a long day of hiking or as a special treat.
It's the second time I have visited this restaurant and once again I am just amazed by the flavours of the food. My photos do not do the dishes justice. I'm not a vegetarian but I'm so glad we tried this restaurant

This. Is. Amazing. We went there during our holiday and decided to come back because it was so delicious! We are definitely coming back at least once or twice. The waiters are both so friendly and happy to seat us even if we didn’t have a reservation. The homemade lemonade (no sugar) is a great start. We fell in love with the Bao Buns, the Quinoa Salad, the Green Curry and both the Salty Caramel Slice and the Lemon Cheese Cake. This place is truly a treasure and the well seasoned and delicious food is simply amazing.

Mind blowingly good food. The burger is possibly the best fusion burger I’ve encountered, and the ragouille was so flavorful with a hefty dose of spice that never becomes overwhelming. Lots of gf options for my celiac girlfriend too. If you have one night, eat here!

For me it's the consistency and great food that makes this spot our favorite since 2018-2025. We talk about it when we are here and remember it when we are gone. We love the gyros, it's the real representation of what gyros should be. Thanks for the excellent service throughout all these years. Keep it up 💪

A hidden gem behind a takeaway! Such a beautiful garden full of flowers and a very friendly staff who are full of suggestions about what to order. Rosie and Leanna work so hard yet have time to chat and make you feel at home. I cannot recommend the starters highly enough if you’re not a pizza/ gyros fan. We will definitely be back next year!
Jan J — Google review
The souvlaki was decent, the pizza medium. We had two issues. Firstly there were 9 of us and everyone got their food on time except my 12 year old daughter who basically got her food after everyone else had finished eating. Secondly I looked at the receipt when we left the place and we had been charged 2 souvlaki more than what we had eaten. I know this was probably a mistake but strangely enough this sort of mistake is always a matter of overcharging the customer, never undercharging. Anyway because this has happened to us before in Paleochora at another restaurant always double check your bills.

If you're looking for high-quality fast food, h gonia ton gefseon is the place to visit. Their meat is well-seasoned and their dishes are delicious, surpassing other gyro establishments in town. To cater better to children, they should consider serving juice or milk. The menu offers a variety of tasty options such as gyros (served on an enormous plate), gemista, and falafel.
For my taste the best gyros and best chicken souvlaki here in Paleochora. Also the Ndakos is very good. It might take a while to get the souvlaki served but the owner and the staff are so friendly that you don't bother the wait . Highly recomended if you are in Paleochora.

A tavern serving local Greek cuisine, with a unique interior, delicious dishes, excellent prices, and great service. Like any respectable local restaurant, desserts, water and liquor are offered. I recommend their lamb dishes, which are delicious. In the menu there is the "mom's food" section, it is exactly what I was looking for, something authentic, different from the usual. Excellent house wine. Highly recommended, the restaurant whose food I liked the most in the whole village, the only thing missing from the menu is the aubergine sauce. Bonus: sometimes they have traditional live music, I saw it on a Monday night.

This is the place to go, if you are in the mood for quality fast food. This meat is well seasoned and the dishes are delicious. It is better than the other gyros places in town. For this place to be better for kids they would need to serve juice or milk.

Nestled in the charming town of Paleochora, Palm Tree Bar Cafe is a delightful spot that captures the essence of Cretan hospitality. With its inviting courtyard and friendly staff, this cafe offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for enjoying a meal or sipping coffee by the sea. The menu features an array of high-quality dishes inspired by local ingredients, showcasing the rich flavors of Crete without breaking the bank. Guests rave about their delicious English breakfast, refreshing fruit salads, and flavorful omelettes.
We opted for fish and seafood and were rewarded with a very special culinary journey. Both the octopus starter and the sea bass and swordfish were fantastically prepared. The white wine recommendation was great. A really great experience. Thanks to the crew. Highly recommended.

Amazing food and service! We stayed for couple of week in Paleochora and this place has the best food.
Anastasiia Z — Google review
Went here to have breakfast and a coffee because they had a sign outside saying they were a micro roaster. None of the staff were really educated on coffee. The cappuccino was burnt and tasted like an ash. Very disappointing. The view of the sea was the positive.
Evelina K — Google review
I could never recommend this place enough. During my stay I had my coffee here every morning (actually the best cappuccino in the world), and at night the beautiful cafe transformed into a magical restaurant. I have genuinely had some of the best foods I have tasted in my entire life here. The food, atmosphere, staff, and experience is just 100000/10!!! Do yourself a favor and go there!!
Susanna S — Google review
Great restaurant. Relaxed beach bar vibes, but with excellent cooking of a small menu of elevated versions of Cretan dishes. Service was really friendly but on our visit there wasn’t enough staff, so it took us a long time to order, then the food took an hour to come.
Glyn B — Google review
This place may be the only one in Paleochora that can be labelled as a "speciality coffee". However, the waiter had no idea about the different coffees (if they were washed, natural, etc.) and I believe that can't happen in a specialty coffee shop. The cappuccinos had a good flavor (we tried Brazil, Guatemala and Ethiopia), although they were very hot. The food was just "meh".
Salimictus — Google review
Excellent food, the restaurant does not feel high-end but the food was incredibly tasty and the presentation was really thoughtful. We had the fried seafood appetiser, the mushroom risotto and the napoleon vegetables and each plate were absolutely delicious. I wish I had more space in my tummy or more time there to try the rest of the menu. Thanks a lot.

I had an absolutely delightful experience at PalmTree Bar Cafe! The ever-changing small menu surprised and delighted my taste buds with its high-quality food, reminiscent of high cuisine, all without the high-end prices. The staff's friendliness added to the warmth of the cozy ambiance by the sea. What I loved most was their dedication to local ingredients and the evident Cretan influences in every dish. Not to mention, their great beer selection perfectly complemented the entire experience. A true gem that I can't wait to visit again!

Quiet, sandy beach. If you don't like the crowds this is a good place to avoid them. It has umbrellas + loungers for rent (10€), a few taverns to eat, showers and easy parking. The water is very calm and clear. Perfect for families. Prices from Summer 2024

Nice and very quiet beach, about 5 kms from palaichora. We cycled there, which was very easy and mostly flat. Umbrella and two sunbeds €10 and had a nice lunch at one of the restaurants there.

Amazingly beautiful bay and beach, with turqoise water. Mostly Greek people here. Very quiet. Full of fish. Great place for snorkling.
Aernoudt K — Google review
An interesting beach for all those who are looking for relatively untouched nature and are able to provide either their own shade or find a corner in the shade in the natural shade of trees. The water is clean, snorkeling is not very exciting, rather boring, the diversity of the fish population is limited to five or seven species, we hardly see any shells. Still, a beautiful beach and probably the most "wild" in the immediate vicinity (up to 3 km). Why the rating 5, because we did not find similar "wilderness" in the immediate vicinity. Of course, a few km further there is something very interesting and worth a visit.
Borut B — Google review
This beach is 10min drive from Palaiochora. Sandy beach in a small bay, well protected from the waves and wind. It’s shallow and crystal clear waters are perfect for all levels of swimmers. It’s perfect for families with little kids as well. It offers 3-4 smaller bays with their own “beaches” as well as a small peninsula with nude beach - all with sandy sea floor. It has 2 beach bars and fantastic taverna with great local food. This beach without any doubt is if not the top beach in Crete, one of the top 5! Very highly recommended!

Paralia Psilos Volakas is a hidden gem located about 3 km west of Paleochora in Crete. This unexplored corner of the island offers several beautiful beaches, and Paralia Psilos Volakas stands out as one of the finest. The beach features soft gravelly sand that provides some protection from the wind on most days. Visitors can relax on sun loungers and enjoy reasonably priced food and drinks from the beach bar.
Amazing little beach owned by locals. Giant, clean bathroom the whole family can change in. Quiet. Free chairs. Rocks for snorkeling. $5 wine glass that’s the size of two. Food. It has everything for a quiet day away from crowds.

One of the most beautiful and calm beaches in Crete. Rocky road to get to the beach (not recommend for wheelchairs or prawners), but worth the drive and walk (2-5 minutes)

Awesome, quiet beach with mostly locals. There’s a big cliff from where people jump in the water, great vibes. The beach bar also had good food. I’d definitely recommend this beach over the crowded, touristy ones!
Viktória K — Google review

More calm beach with mostly locals. Good even on windy day as the beach is located in a bay and has rocks instead of sand blasting with the wind. Water is really clear and the seabed is from fine sand.

Ann S — Google review
Although this is not sandy I would recommend going to this beach. You can hire sunbeds, there is restaurant and toilets just by quite spacious car park. The best of all is that it is hidden among the rocks sheltered from the wind. Water is crystal turquoise blue and best of all you will find places for cliff jumping of different heights. Perfect for eventful day!

The absence of sand makes it perfect for those who dislike sandy beaches, with small naturally rounded stones providing a pleasant experience.
It’s remote and pristine pebble beach with a small taverna. The water gets deep quickly but it seems like along the coastline there are no big stones under water. West from the beach there is another smaller beach which looks very picturesque and is also a nudist beach.

Beautiful, sheltered from the wind, had the beach to ourselves at 10am. Highly recommend going to the far west of the beach up and over the rocks. Cobblestone so bring a blanket!
Roxanne B — Google review
Super clean water. The small cove at the end of the beach is calmer water than the main part. There is a bar/restaurant, a shower and a changing shack. The umbrellas/loungers are payable, 10 eur per pair of loungers + umbrella in early October.
Ana L — Google review
The status of the beach as naturist seems to be variable but even if most people are dressed the occasional nude person is unlikely to cause much alarm

My beloved beach in Crete! Fantastic water, quiet and peaceful environment away from touristic infrastructure, the cantine is a bless! Very good food and very friendly people. The whole package is a diamond one loves to dig for, before it will be taken over by mass- tourism
Takis ( — Google review
Awful beach not worth the drive through rough glasshouse strewn areas. Looks like a landfill tip. This part of Crete is not for good beaches
Gg 9 — Google review
Nice pebble beach, no crowd, incredibly crystal water, go to the very west bottom. Sunbed available, free parking and a little bar, coffee at 2.50 eur though :) E4 trail if you want to hike westward to see Elafonissi from above.
Elisabetta P — Google review
This beach is in two parts, a longer beach and a cove to the west. Stones and pebbles underfoot - so no sand blowing about. Lovely clear water and and breezy. Never to busy. Well worth the 15 min drive from Paleochora.

Restaurant
Deilino Family Restaurant offers delightful cuisine with hospitable staff, making it an unforgettable dining experience. Situated in Paleochora, this hidden gem boasts a stunning beachfront location that sets it apart from other establishments in the region. The restaurant's Greek Salad with Mizithra is exceptionally delicious, and their Mint Raki adds a tantalizing touch to the meal. With its friendly atmosphere and picturesque views, Deilino Family Restaurant truly epitomizes paradise.
Right on the beach of Grammeno this taverna service, food and location is stunning. Initially you may have the impression that you are not very welcomed by the proud owner but don’t get fooled by that. Everyone is very respectful, polite and friendly. We had shrimp saganaki, tzatziki, and baked vegetables all delicious, and tasty. Highly recommend this place. Also plenty of vegetarian options . Just remember to ask for the dishes of the day. Pp Also look at this frozen beer glass. It’s the first taverna in almost two weeks to offer proper beer glass so it keeps your beer cold. Veeery thoughtful

It's not so great as described in reviews before. Octopus and shrimps were overcooked. We have expected better food here.
Vadym M — Google review
We loved our experience at Deilino. The only beach venue with lawn, perfect for the kids with lots of natural shade provided by the big trees. The food is home made and an excelent price/value. The dishes are prepared fresh, in house with love and dedication to give you the best traditional experience. The family all helps in making these delicious treats. I highly recommend the cheese balls, kalitzunia pies (see pictures from the making), fried zuchinni and the best grilled chicken in the area. Great food and affordable prices.

We were two weeks in Crete and went out for diner everyday. This restaurant is by far the best in the region! The musaka was on a complete other level! By far the best I ever had (speaking as someone with Greek roots)!
Kingprawn — Google review
Absolutely loved the food here, everything was delicious, and the prices were really reasonable. Plus you get a really nice view.
Georgie C — Google review
Wonderful food with an amazing friendly people serving. We went more than once while we were in Paleochora and we are already missing it. The beach in front of the restaurant is also one of the best in the whole region! I wish I could keep this place as a secret, ha ha, but this wouldn’t be fair to the family that runs this absolutely perfect place.

We decided to have an early dinner and then go back onto the beach. My goodness the food was mind blowing. Proper family run business and fantastic food. Setting and attending to detail made us feel special. We will never go to this beach without visiting this restaurant
Todai I — Google review
Went there today and the Greek Salad with Mizithra was soooo good! The service from the whole family was very welcoming and I could sit first row enjoying the beach view even though I was by myself just having a salad enjoying the beach view. The Mint Raki was yummy as well. Thank you!

Atoli Cafe Restaurant offers a delectable cuisine at a somewhat higher cost for locals. However, it garners high ratings from tourists who are accustomed to superior salaries and less flavorful food elsewhere. The establishment boasts an excellent bar where patrons can relish happy hour deals against the backdrop of breathtaking sunsets. Their Mojitos are particularly adored, as is the lively music that accompanies them.
They have Charma! Nice relaxed place with a chill atmosphere. They have a covered area on the beach and then a covered patio area across the street. They have an extensive menu with many options, and they have happy hour 5-9. The Master of Grill burger was good.

We were to for dinner on a beautiful evening with an amazing sunset. We went in here because of the happy hour promising double up on cocktails. My partner went for the pork souvlaki while i ordered a cheese burger. The meat on the souvlaki was not tender and few pieces was pure fat, so she rated the disk to three stars nainly because of the well cooked potato boats. The dish had some grilled green peber but not very tasty. My cheese burger was absolutely amazing. Very delicate balance between meet, cheese, bacon, bread caramelised onions, tomatoes and cucumber on the side assisted by a delicious dressing. One of the best burgers in some time. Happy hour resulted in Marguerita, Pina Colade, Tequila Sunrise and a Sex on the Beach... All made perfectly well. So 3 stars for the souvlaki and 5 for the burger and drinks makes it a 4 stars experience.

Excellently located cafe, surprisingly good service, praise for the girl, who is working today, frappe €2.5, very affordable prices. I recommend!!!
Biljana D — Google review
Stopped here for a light dinner after watching the sunset from a nearby vantage point. We chose to sit in the main part opposite the beach instead of the beachside tables, as there was a fresh breeze blowing up & the beachside tables do not have any protective walls. We ordered a Greek salad, the chicken souvlaki, a mojito, & a Coca-cola. The mojito was good but not the best we've ever had. The Greek salad was fresh & full of the flavours we've come to expect here on Crete. The tomatoes in particular have always been firm with plenty of flesh, perfectly ripe and juicy. The chicken souvlaki came with 3 skewers of meat, a serving of cleslaw, & hand cut fried potatoes. The chicken was maybe a little over-cooked, mainly the smaller pieces. The coleslaw was a tasty accompaniment & had a nice balance of flavours. The potatoes were just crispy on the outside, & fluffy inside. The cafe resident cat hung around in the hope of scoring any left-overs. Sadly for him, there weren't any. Price for the meal & drinks? A bargain at EUR 18.00 plus a EUR 2.00 tip for a total of EUR 20.00.

Highly recommended! It was our first visit in this restaurant, but definitely not the last one. We had a fabulous lunch "meze fish" composed of several different and delicious dishes.

Amazing place to have dinner! Me and my partner we got there a bit late on Thursday 12th June and everyone was so friendly and the food was amazing! Would definitely come back!!
Ana L — Google review
We love this taverna, have been eating there every night (!) staying in Paleochora. The white house-wine is excellent, it tastes of elderflowers. All the dishes are tasty, fresh and they offer excellent daily specials. Try the grilled octopus and the rabbit from their own farm. The Kolokithokeftedes are delicious, we loved the fig jam served with. The dessert „Ekmek kadayıfı“ is the best sweet we‘ve ever tried 💖 The staff and the owner are very kind and efficient. The location is quiet, a little outside Paleochora (Grammeno Beach). It is really an excellent taverna, loved by locals and tourists too.
Sandrina — Google review
This taverna is wonderful — hands down one of the best tavernas in the west. The food was epic — every dish bursting with flavour, fresh ingredients, and that homemade touch you just can’t fake. We chose from the daily special menu and the most delicious vibrant salad on the side and few starters, everything was spot on. And the wine! We had the rosè and white wines. Local, bold, and paired perfectly with the food — it took the whole experience to another level. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming - true Cretan hospitality. If you’re anywhere nearby, do yourself a favour and go. You won’t regret it!

A nice cute restaurant with an amazing atmosphere. The best part is that the waiters are really nice and you can make a nice chat with them. The food was well worth the price and so we had a wonderful evening.

The food experience here is to die for! Authentic cretan cuisine which deserves a thousand stars. All ingredients are from the area and they even have their own garden growing the vegetables. Bravo Christos for your warm hospitality
