Weinheim in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Weinheim, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Weinheim is a picturesque town on the German Wine Route, known for its medieval old town, market square, and half-timbered houses. It’s nicknamed the “Two-Castle City” for the hilltop ruins of Windeck Castle and the 20th-century Wachenburg, both offering wide views over the Rhine plain. Visitors can stroll through the renowned Hermannshof show garden and the exotic tree park (Exotenwald), which feature diverse plant collections in a compact area. Its location on the edge of the Odenwald forest makes Weinheim a good base for hikes and day trips in the region.
With favorites like Diebsloch, Altstadt-Galerie, and bistronauten, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like bratar Burger Grill Bar | Weinheim and La Cantina so you can get the best taste of Weinheim while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Miramar is a popular thermal spa and family attraction offering a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. The facility includes saunas, laser shows, waterslides, and swimming pools. Visitors can enjoy the clean and well-maintained facilities with ample parking space. Families can have a fun day out with kids enjoying the waterslides and various pool activities. The place offers something for everyone, from quiet rooms to relax in to exciting water slides that are loved by children.
When we started from our home 2 hours away, we kept hoping our day would be worth the drive. But Miramar exceeded all our expectations in ways that we hadn't imagined. Although the place was super crowded on a Saturday (we couldn't find parking), it was clean, well-managed, and SO much fun. There are sooo many amazing options for kids (and adults alike). From the numerous slides and the wave pools to the outdoor thermal pool, the music/bar pool, kids pool. Even the food was delicious with several vegetarian/vegan/dessert/drink options. The highlight surely was the laser show at 7pm, the kids had a blast. Cannot recommend this place enough! We can't wait to go back!

Not recommend this place anymore! This was our 4th visit, 1st from the reopening, but sure it was the last one!!! Upon entry, our bag was checked and it turned out that we were not allowed to bring in glas bottled drinks, which is understandable for security reasons. Then after entry, they reminded us that next time we could not bring in a normal-sized freezer box. Okay. Everyone inside with huge freezer boxes, but no problem. 🤷🏼‍♀️ then we were faced with the fact that no outdoor pool was working. You can only sunbathe outside. or if you want to enter the sauna section, which is in the nudist section. No, thank you. There is hardly any air inside, the heat is unbearable. But the entrance price is still 30€ / person. shortly after we got there we wanted to ask for our money back and leave the place. The answer was that they informed us on their website which pools were not working, sorry but I don't check the website, I've been there before and I knew the place was good, we loved it. so far... they offered that if we wanted to go we could get the money back in the form of a voucher. but what should I do with it if there won't be an outdoor pool this year? and this was definitely our last visit! and I didn't even mention the wounds we got on the slides, thank you.
Ana R — Google review
Never again. I've been here several times but this was terrible. They still charged full price for half the facility working. The adult sauna area was dirty, unhygienic and over crowded. It should not be allowed for visitors leaving towels to block recliners in the quiet zones or sleeping rooms and leave for hours expecting them to be saved not allowing someone else to use them. And too many children and teens unsupervised in the adult area. This used to be a nice relaxing spa but will never return. If you want an adult area and nice experience I suggest karlsruhe.
Greg L — Google review
Nice place for a day of fun with the kids. Free entry on your birthday. Enough parking (free) space. Could be a little cleaner. Slides are great - kids love it. Can be crowdy at times and you need to cue for the popular slides. One pool has waves every hour - what a fun. Sana area is awesome and it looks like kids are allowed (great for some, disturbing for others). Quiet rooms available.
Guido O — Google review
The most amazing wellness nearest Mannheim 😌
Somayeh F — Google review
We were there on a very hot day so the place was packed. We only were on the "fun area" with no access to the salt baths or sauna. The sitting area was so full people were laying on the floor in the halls. The staff was friendly on the cash register but inside there was almost no personal for upkeep. Or so it seemed. The price for 4 hours of swim was too high in my opinion and they should lower the limit of visitors a day it was really too busy to enjoy.
Sweet P — Google review
I love Miramar. The wave pool was fantastic!! There is a water slide that ends in the wave pool. It was still busy though, especially the Splash water slide, that one took 15 minutes to ride. My favorite one had to be the Typhoon water slide, and the Race water slide. There is a swimm-up bar! Miramar had a cafeteria with some yummy food. Definately try Miramar on a not busy day!!
David N — Google review
This was a spontaneous trip during my stay and it was unforgettable. My local guide handled all the talking since my German is rusty, but the service was very nice. I liked the security of the lockers, everything was clean, and the food was good-especially the fries! The slides are safe for those of us who can’t swim since the water is shallow. The main pool with the mushroom has a setting with waves that I wouldn’t recommend for those without swimming legs. There’s activities for everyone and it’s very safe. I’d visit again. *Bonus*: this was my first time going to a sauna and it was better than I expected. No one is being creepy, there’s plenty of rooms, and you don’t have to be nude in that section (except the sauna room).

The park is a perfect place for a leisurely stroll with its rolling hills and exotic birds. It hosts various events throughout the year and is open to the public.
Perfect place for family. It's free of cost. It's having lot of place for children to play. It also has small bird place where you can see some chirping birds like parrot. It's also connected to other places like rathaus. One must visit once. It also has good parking space. Also, there is lot of space for children to play.

Beautiful park with a small pond. Perfect place for walks, picnics, family outing and birdwatching. A great spot for kids as it has plenty of space to run around.
Yuzena K — Google review
An amazing park in the middle of Weinheim city center. This place is picture perfect and maintained amazingly well. The park is large and spacious and very good for kids to walk and play around. You can do a nice weekend picnic sitting on the lawn and let your kids walk and run around on a nice sunny day. There is a small hill going up and getting down can also be very good for a short run around the park for beginners. Definitely a place to visit if you are in Weinheim.
Aravind R — Google review
This is a nice place to take a leisurely stroll through the park, picking on the rolling hills, looking at the exotic birds, or a nice backdrop to enjoy your ice cream from around the corner. There are many events hosted here throughout the year, but generally it is open to the public park. The palace connected to the park with many other beautiful monuments and statues make this an excellent place to visit. Either you are passing through or a local, you will definitely want to spend some time here to enjoy it

Castle
Hiking area
Wachenburg is a historic castle with a rich heritage, featuring a courtyard restaurant and a meeting hall. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Rhine Valley. This modern castle, constructed in the early 1900s, has been well-preserved and serves both ceremonial and organizational purposes. While it may not be widely known for tourism, it is an excellent location for leisurely walks and provides convenient parking facilities.
Steep walk through the forest. You can skip the workout for that day 😀
Constantin M — Google review
This is a modern castle (built in the early 1900s), of course still well preserved, which houses a restaurant and seems to serve more ceremonial/organizational purpose than tourist ones. I only discovered it when I brought my kids to do the Gruffalo path (which is the only reason I even found out about Windeck castle, as the path leads up to it), but couldn't find opening hours on their website. I decided to come and see if we could explore the castle; we parked at the Wanderparkplatz just prior to entering the castle grounds and walked up the paved path, through the wooden gate that was open, and under the stone arch lladen with crests. There happened to be a large party there that night for a business' employees, which looked like a grand old time, and the setting was wonderful for it - once you walk through the arch, the indoor restaurant entrance is immediately on the right, but then you see the terrace in the courtyard, which has a great view and has wonderful ambiance, many tables, even couches to lounge on. The castle surrounds you, with its beautiful windows and stone walls and a single tower (that I saw). I couldn't find anywhere to enter the castle itself that was open to the public, and there were no obviously castle staff members to ask, so we simply enjoyed the view for a few minutes and went on our way. The restaurant menu looked fantastic, if a little too fancy and expensive for me to stop there with just myself and three young kids 5 and under, but I'd guess it'd make for a great date night or girls night out. This, topped with ample close parking, makes for a wonderful evening!

Food is very salt, and sea food does not appear fresh. Cannot say service is friendly as no smile on the face. We came in July it is nice to seat outside but the seafood attracts tons of fly which is very annoying. Not recommended

Stay away from this strange restaurant. On the 1st of January I booked a table in this restaurant because they have oysters in the menu. We spent 1 hour driving to the restaurant with a child and a small dog. When we arrived, they offered us a “New Year menu” that you can see in the attachment - a crumpled piece of paper with a proud statement that it costs 50€. The main menu didn’t work that day and of course nobody was going to notify about that when I booked a table. The staff was a bit nervous about the fact that we only wanted to order oysters with wine without their super-special offer of the day. But the next news was that they don’t have oysters anymore. “Sorry” - that was only what they said when I tried to clarify how they confirmed the booking two hours ago when I asked about oysters and wine. We had to leave the restaurant and just wasted 2 hours. Nothing was offered for us to resolve the situation in a good manner, but this shouldn’t be a surprise if you look at their special New Year menu and how it looks like.
Ilya K — Google review
Visited several times and All was great until today. I came with friend to drink coffee and restaurant was empty. As always coffee was amazing, but after we paid the waiter said - tomorrow if u want drink just coffee go to another place. Very unprofessional. Especially if u don’t have guests and we not sit in a table where someone else can sit and eat.

Fantastic lunch experience. Good amount of comfortable outdoor seating that is well-shaded and spaced out. Great selection of in-season food and dishes. Maultaschen was delicious and very good desserts! Service was nice and helpful. This places makes everything fresh and it takes some time for the food to come out. Not unreasonable but don’t expect a quick bite here. It is worth the wait. Interior was cute and their toilets are clean. I would definitely come back here again!

La Bodega Espanola is a delightful tapas restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Spain right in the heart of Weinheim. Diners can expect generous portions and a menu filled with flavorful dishes, although those seeking vegetarian or vegan options may find the selection limited to bread, pimentos, and tortillas. Brewery
Woinemer Hausbrauerei, located in Weinheim, offers a cozy atmosphere to enjoy German cuisine and house-brewed beers. The rustic brewery serves up hearty steaks, vegetarian dishes, and a diverse selection of beers to cater to all tastes. Their menu features seasonal specialties like goose with sides such as red cabbage and potato dumplings.
We had a very good meal here. The shared dips came with crispy fries, then we had schnitzel with chanterelle mushrooms and pulled pork. The pulled pork was a bit dry, and could maybe have done with a barbecue sauce, but there was plenty of sour cream with the baked potato, and salad. With two half litres of beer, a coffee and a small dessert the bill was just over 60€. Service was good - English speakers, thank goodness, and I was offered a taste of a particular beer to see if I liked it. I did. It was atmospheric, reasonably crowded on a Thursday evening, with different rooms to sit in. Clean toilets with plenty of soap and paper towels.
Alison W — Google review
Passed by Weinheim - which BTW is a highly recommended visit during the day - and stopped in the local brewery. All beers seemed to be made there on the spot. I had the Pils, the Helles (some sort of Lager) and the dark beer (like a darg kager, not strong beer). All of them were very well crafted with a balanced taste and even the normally bitter Pils was super tasty. Great service and nice atmosphere. Place was completely full after 7pm on Friday. Bit there is always room if you Wand to try just some.beers. they also have a take away option. I'll definitely come back.
Peter S — Google review
I am biased when it comes to this place. It's been over 10 years since I've lived in Weinheim Germany. Over the course of 3 years I went often. Whenever I get back to visit my friends I make sure to stop by. This is about German as it gets and the quality and ambience are top notch. My two favorites items here are the Schweinshaxe (roasted pig knuckle) and Hefeweizen (wheat beer). Sehr lecker (delicious)! I only gave four stars for service because that's from a US perspective and I assume US viewers are reading this. Let's be real, it's rather normal for German standards, it is a different country after all. Not bad...just different. If memory serves, English menus are available. I've traveled all over Germany and this is my favorite brew house. Why? Honestly it's amazing IMHO and when you pair the experience, taste, and atmosphere with the ambience of the town of Weinheim Its a complete package.
Harold P — Google review
Food: 4/5 Good food, tasty and all. Big portion, nice crust for the Schweinshaxe. Beer selection was nice, a lot to choose from. The 1516 vom fass was a bit weird, but when i tasted from the bottle, it was one of the great ones! Funny labels as well for the bottles, super. Service: 4/5 It was quite crowded but still we expected more. Some was a bit grumpy. But all in all quite good experience. Great atmosphere as well.

(Translated by Google) Cheap entry price. I think two euros per adult. The Gruffalo exhibition we visited the museum for was tiny. A room with a few books, something to draw with, but hardly any pencils. A Gruffalo game, but the pieces were missing there too. My son didn't think it was bad, but unfortunately he couldn't keep himself busy for long.

(Translated by Google) A great exhibition to learn about the town. We were there specifically for the special exhibition "Crocheted Weinheim" as part of the local history festival. The friendly cashier told us a few additional things. There were hardly any visitors, so it was quiet and relaxed, and there was plenty to read, even outside of the special exhibition. A small but fine museum. 👍

(Translated by Google) The exhibition is more or less interesting. It is advertised as child-friendly. We strongly disagreed. There is little information material for children on the exhibits. We should change our diaper child on the floor in the men's toilet and "just not here in the entrance area". It would have been fine to point this out in a friendly manner, but the tone was very displeasing.

The interaction with the staff was also consistently positive. We are truly completely satisfied! (Translated by Google) I also always come to Weinheim because of the Old Town Gallery. I bought some beautiful pieces here, all of which I enjoy wearing. There is always something special here. Unusual design, nice materials...... Plus it's a beautifully designed store. Everyone who has served me here so far has been very friendly, reserved, and in no way intrusive in their sales advice. Certainly another reason why I always like to come back. Here I have peace and time to make a purchase decision without feeling pressured.

This eatery boasts an impressive array of Mediterranean dishes, including mouthwatering Italian specialties, crispy pizzas, and hearty breakfast options. Whether you're craving a light salad or a filling meat dish, there's something for everyone here. Amazing food, great atmosphere, very attentive staff and the nicest owner you can imagine. Modest pricing. Absolutely delighted. Probably the best restaurant in the area. Highly recommendable. We will definitely come again.

I really liked this cozy place! The Brasserie Bellini offers a variety of Italian, salad and meat dishes. The service is pretty fast and very friendly. You can choose sitting next to some very cozy pillows or at regular tables. The atmosphere is very relaxed and calm. We ordered the red pesto and a salad to share and it was really tasty! The pasta maaybe a bit too soft (not al dente) but the taste was very good! The salad was delicious! You have a variety of drinks, cocktails and coffee to choose from, but like in many other places I always choose my lecker bierchen. Prices are acceptable, a bit high but for being in the middle of the Old Town it is fine. Overall a very nice and beautiful place with tasty food.

A great Italian restaurant in the city centre of Weinheim, great outdoor sitting best for Spring overlooking the piazza which is just stunning. The place is also good for winter with nice cozy seating inside. The food service and quality all very nice and authentic to be in a foreign country meaning outside Italy. The person serving was even speaking native Italian for sure adapted for the German taste. But food was very good. Definitely recommended for people looking for good Italian food.

Tucked away in the charming town of Weinheim, Restaurant Janni im Scharfen Eck offers a delightful escape into the heart of Greek cuisine. As soon as you step inside, you're enveloped by a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The menu is a treasure trove of traditional Greek specialties, featuring everything from succulent gyros to an array of other mouthwatering dishes that showcase the rich culinary heritage of Greece.
Have been to many restaurants even if the food was horrible the service is top notch. So good thing the food is really really good. This is a True Greek Restaurant...starting with the atmosphere and how the host greet you when you come and go. If you have kids this is a good place to bring them. The food I found to be perfectly made..and they really paid attention if you have allergies or other ailments. You didn't get any attitude or rude remarks. For saying you can't eat certain foods or can this be removed from the plate. The wine selection while very small it was good and powerful...after a glass or two you might crawl out the place hahahahahahaha. We will definitely be going again.

Restaurant
Bistronauten is a cozy restaurant located in Weinheim, Germany, known for its limited seating space and open kitchen concept. The restaurant's strategic location near the former OEG train station provides a comfortable setting with plenty to observe as the kitchen is openly connected to the dining area. This charming eatery was established by friendly owners who initially opened a delicatessen before launching this adorable restaurant in a prime location about a year ago.
We had an absolutely fantastic dinner here. The food was delicious, the service was very welcoming and friendly and we loved the farm to table concept. One menu with 3 mains to choose from is all you need - quality over quantity. Value for money ratio was also very good. Altogether an outstanding experience, absolutely worth it! The spots next to the open kitchen were a highlight.
Marius — Google review
Amazingly friendly service, super tasty food. Excellent salad, cheeses, beers, etc Simple 3 choice menu (meat/fish/veg) makes everything easy. Nice decor and super convenient for public transport
Michael S — Google review
We dined at Bistronauten on July 30 and had a fantastic evening. The food was delicious, the menu well constructed, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere perfectly attuned to the meal. Two special notes: 1) they accommodated our pram/stroller without hesitation and with kindness and 2) the pacing was perfect - my partner could not believe we how long we had been there when we finished the meal because there was never too long of a break and never a rush between courses. It was a well orchestrated meal that we recommended to friends and to which we hope to return. While I was glad to enjoy the food without taking photos, I wish I had taken a few to include for this review.
Steven L — Google review
Bistronauten offer a set-menu only, you can choose between 2 to 4 courses, and they offer meat, fish and vegetarian options. A lovely evening spent at Bistronauten, thank you to the kind staff and the talented kitchen-staff for the yummy food!

We loved to be here but the outside area is very close to the street and you smell the cars going by. We had a 4 course mail with wife but only liked the desert. The cold soup was ok the beard was very hard and we had only butter to put on it. the main course was a little piece of lamb and considering the prices it could have been a bigger portion. So some improvements: The soup was ok The salade was horrible could have been straight from a Rewe so please put some small tomatoes with it and bit crunch and not a bowl for 2 persons but separate on a plate. main course : A bit more meat and veggie would make it perfect. Price drop it with 20% its really to high for what you get!
Fred — Google review
Fabulous food, concept, interior. A limited, high quality menu prioritising fresh local produce. Casual but sophisticated atmosphere. Water is included with 4 course meal - all you can drink, sparkling and still. More restaurants should do this! The beetroot soup was exquisite. Children were made welcome, with pasta that was not on the menu, and an activity box.
