Park
Nature & Parks
Goose Spit Park is a narrow coastal park located in Courtney, offering a sandy beach, walking trails, and opportunities to spot wildlife. It's an ideal destination for young families and nature enthusiasts looking for a relaxing experience. The park features easy walking trails that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the stunning beauty of Vancouver Island. Visitors can enjoy the wide and broad views of the ocean and mountains, as well as the opportunity to witness stunning sunsets.
Very fond of this beach. Rockier than it was 30-40 years ago but still has some sandy areas. Merlin app identified 8 different bird species. Great spot for Pokemon players as well. Lots of spawns including Wiglets, a few gyms and stops, plus a drivable/walkable route.

Beautiful drive to the park.lil bit hard to find a parking but worth visit it. I recently had the pleasure of visiting Goose Spit Park in Courtney and it was an absolutely amazing experience! From the stunning natural surroundings to the well-maintained facilities, this park exceeded all of my expectations. Firstly, the park's location is simply breathtaking. As soon as you enter, you are greeted with the most stunning views of the ocean and mountains. The beach at Goose Spit Park is pristine, with soft sand and crystal-clear water. It's the perfect place to relax, take a stroll, or even have a picnic with family and friends. The park itself is very well-designed and offers something for everyone. There are plenty of walking trails that wind through the park, allowing visitors to explore and immerse themselves in nature. I enjoyed taking a leisurely walk and spotting the various wildlife that call the park home. One aspect that truly impressed me was the cleanliness and maintenance of the park. Despite being a popular destination, the grounds were spotless and well-kept. The park staff does a wonderful job of ensuring that the park remains clean and inviting for all visitors. Moreover, the facilities at Goose Spit Park are top-notch. The washrooms were clean and easily accessible, and there were ample picnic tables and benches for visitors to use. It was evident that the park management puts a lot of effort into maintaining a comfortable and enjoyable experience for guests. Lastly, I was thrilled to find out that Goose Spit Park offers a variety of recreational activities. Whether you're interested in swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, or even beach volleyball, there is something for everyone to enjoy. It's a great place to spend a day with family, friends, or even alone. Overall, my time at Goose Spit Park in Courtney was truly unforgettable. The beautiful surroundings, well-maintained facilities, and the range of activities available all contributed to an exceptional experience. I highly recommend visiting this park to anyone looking to reconnect with nature.

Nice spot to watch the sun set and for paddle bordering/kayaking. One side is a rocky beach (water shoes recommended) and the other side is grassy with lots of sea weed. My rating is based on hanging out here and watching the sunset. For swimming, it is not the best given all the other options near by.
Kevin B — Google review
Easily one of the best beaches in the Comox Valley. Nice and close to town. Lots of sand at low tide. Nice protected bag perfect for paddle Boarding or kayaking. Also fantastic storm watching in the winter months.
Scott A — Google review
We love waking here with our dog! There is so much to see and explore. Depending on water levels you can see a lot of sea creatures. Went around looking for oysters and crabs. It’s also fun to walk on the logs and our dog found some sticks to play with. Sunsets are very beautiful here as well. Can get quite busy but decent amount of parking.
Lynne L — Google review
There is often something going on around the beach. Whether it's people wind surfing on windy days. Or there's a herring run, sea lions splashing, people playing, or a beautiful sky to to see. It's part of my community and great place to go and hang out for awhile. The first pic is of herring roe(eggs) washed upon the beach.
Terry P — Google review
Great park, don't let the name fool you. Like a wise person once told me, never judge a book by it's cover and never judge a park by it's insanely ridiculous name. Ok, she never said the latter but I think that's basically where she was going with that. She taught me everything I know about visiting parks; be on your best behavior, enjoy the views, wear appropriate protection, always ask first, clean up your mess, stay on the trails, playing in the mud is extra, tip if you had a good time and no kissing on the lips. Thanks for all the great parks advice Cinnamon, I apply your training everywhere I go.

Stunning sunset. Excellent bay for kit surfing. Public washrooms can be improved. Summer parking extremely full. Get there early. For star lovers you can't stay after midnight due to Municipal parking bylaw.

Land & Sea Brewing Company Ltd. has transformed a mundane suburban area into a vibrant food and beverage destination. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by an impressive metal sculpture of a snarling wolf, adding to the brewery's unique atmosphere. The brewery offers a variety of delicious beers and food, with options for both adults and children. Its welcoming and community-oriented vibe makes it a favorite among locals, while its small but exceptional menu consistently satisfies customers.
We had such a great experience at Land & Sea Brewing Company! Our waitress Erica was absolutely amazing!! She was super knowledgeable, easygoing, and incredibly kind. She walked us through the menu and gave us tons of awesome recommendations for things to do in the area, which really made our visit extra special. The Chicken Diablo Nachos were to die for — seriously, don’t skip them. Huge thanks to Erica for making our visit so memorable!
Milaine R — Google review
The nachos are very unique with an awesome flavor. The wings were great. While the beer was good definately not my favorite, did not have a lager. And as they say on their website parking is terrible.
Carmen M — Google review
The Chicken Diablo nachos were perhaps the best nachos I have ever had in my life. The cremo sauce on top is a genious idea and am going to try to steal the idea for at home. The beer selection is excellent and really well done with a good variety of styles and execution. A fantastic vibe inside the brewery with very friendly staff and they make you feel welcomed. Highly recommended for beer and non-beer fans alike (the food is that good).

One of our absolute favourite brewery—hands down! We’ve been coming to Land & Sea Brewing since before we even moved to the island, and it continues to be our go-to spot in Comox. The atmosphere is always welcoming, the artwork and vibe are spot on, and the food never misses—especially the bulgogi nachos, which are honestly out of this world. Shoutout to Mel and Trent, two of the kindest, most attentive servers you’ll ever meet. They’re always friendly, polite, and make every visit feel special even after four years! Whether you’re a local or just passing through, make sure you stop in!!! Enjoy!

Great beers and delicious food! We tried of a variety of beers, I enjoyed the porter and sour. We shared 2 platters of nachos, corn and chicken. Both were delicious. 2 trays were plenty for 5 adults. The brewery is kid friendly. They have high tops and low tables. You can see in to the kitchen and can smell all the delicious things being made. I love their branding and purchased a pair of sweatpants from their swag selection. Minimal parking on site but we were able to find in street parking across the street.
Michelle G — Google review
Best nachos of my life. And no….this is not my first time. Consistently delicious. . Huge portions, the house made hot sauce is a nice add on but not at all necessary. Beer is also excellent. Top notch service. If you’re complaining about the parking …shut up your face. Walk a little. It’s good for you and will help the nachos settle.
Jess M — Google review
My husband and I went to check this place out tonight. The guy that saw us seemed pretty great however, it went downhill from there. Disappointed with the servers demeaning tone and attitude. I was a server for years in pubs, bars, and fine dining and I have never not tipped. Tonight was the first time. Unsure if she was just having a bad night or if it is standard practice for the servers at Land & Sea to be rude. Besides poor service, the menu was limited, and the seating was uncomfortable. The parking is nonexistent. The baked wings took 25 minutes, which we were warned of prior to ordering… Seems like a pretty long time for wings… I would not recommend. There are so many other places to go in Comox where you actually feel welcomed.

The brewery to visit in Comox. The food was very impressive for a brewery. I had the Hawaiian beef wrap. Amazing. The Ebb and Flow Hazy was a perfect pairing. Get one of the patio tables if you can.

The Comox Air Force Museum showcases the history of aviation in Canada with a wide range of exhibits, including old aircraft, uniforms, medals and an aircraft engine. Visitors can take a self-guided tour to learn about the Canadian air force's past and view short documentaries with historical footage and interviews from pilots. The museum also features an old ATC tower control that visitors can touch and see inside.
We enjoyed this museum so much. The staff was so friendly and interactive. There is so much to be seen and learn about for all ages.

This is an amazing museum. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The displays are colourful and informative. Everything from elaborate missions to quiet acts of heroism are chronicled. As history is in the details, take time to notice the small as well as the big.
Daniel C — Google review
Small from the outside but packed with plenty of local and international information on the history of aviation during war, this museum was a great stop. The museum itself is on the airbase and visiting is by donation. The exhibits cover from WWI to the Cold War and some of present day. It gives a really good look into Canada's involvement and contributions, as well as the advancements made over time. Neighbouring to the museum is the Heritage Airpark with planes and helicopters to view. A very interesting and informative museum.
Katherine H — Google review
Amazing museum, we come from Toronto so we are used to the hamilton warplane museum. Expect more artifacts then planes however there is a separate airpark close to the base with some planes to take photos of.
MacKenzie W — Google review
If you are passionate about military aircraft and a wartime history observer/follower, this is a must visit location. Well done. Excellent displays and information. If you are doing research on aircraft, the library is second to none. Then just a short distance down the street is a display of former Canadian military aircraft. Outstanding. The the price of entry...by donation.
Ronald M — Google review
A nice slice of Canadian Airforce history and training ground for the Snowbirds. Its worth the time to visit and see some classic decommissioned planes on display. Some you can even enter. They are upgrading the park where the planes are displayed. We've been there several times, particularly when friends come to visit us. Definitely worth a visit

SmartCentres Courtenay is a large and well-organized shopping center that offers a variety of stores to meet all your shopping needs. Bulk n Barn, one of the stores in the center, provides a neat and clean shopping environment with an extensive selection of items such as dry fruits, spices, flours, and chocolates. However, it's suggested that the staff should be more knowledgeable about the products and offer assistance to customers.
There is a Walmart , Staples and a best buy at this location as well as a variety of other stores. Drift wood mall is just down the Road.

Watch for items that are reasonably priced on the shelves, however the item are substationally more at the check out! I hardly ever go there anymore for this reason and they never have the items I am looking for.

Large store and parking. Shopping cars stay free but will move to pay option soon. If you know average prices you can find things cheaper here. No bags at cash register, take yours with you. Worth to show up and have a look at.

Normal WalMart with a walk in clinic;but unless you're at the clinic for 7am you won't get to see a doctor unless there's a cancellation.
RoCk S — Google review
I'm noticing that every time I shop here, prices have increased a tiny bit. Things have gone up on a lot of products by 2 to 4 dollars in just a few years. It's scary. I've cut back on my spending as I don't get as much for my money as I used to. I find myself only buying things on sale and deviating away from healthy foods in favor of cheaper options. Probably end up killing me as it's a lot of processed foods. Feel bad for families with multiple mouths to feed. On the plus side I'm losing weight because I barely eat. Who can afford it?

I really like to visit Bulk n Barn, very neat and clean organized store, with lots of variety in Dry fruits, spices, flours, chocolates etc etc, you would possibly find the item here of its hard to find anywhere else however, I really hope that the workers should have knowledge about what's in the store and also willing to help you than to leave it on you, specially if you're there with 2 infants.

While visiting relatives, I was able to satisfy my and their shopping needs at this location. Shopping mall
Driftwood Mall is a bustling shopping destination that offers a diverse range of stores and services, making it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. With popular retailers like Dollarama, Cobs Bread, London Drugs, and Canadian Tire Super Store, shoppers can find everything from groceries to automotive supplies all under one roof. The mall's layout may be a bit tricky to navigate at times due to limited entry points into the parking lot; however, the variety of shops makes it worth exploring.
The Driftwood Mall has been a long-time piece of the furniture in the Comox Valley since the days of Overwaitea and Zellers and still continues to have interesting, reasonably priced shops with a touch of nostalgia.
Stu J — Google review
No issue with the mall itself, however while sitting and enjoying the shade before heading in to purchase. The security guard on duty who failed to identify herself, or provide a valid security guard license became angry and agitated when asked to identify herself, in accordance with current legislation. The mall is amazing if you want to needlessly be harassed by individuals who feel above human decency.
Bobby B — Google review
Canadian Tire....yup the ubiquitous go to store for Canadians to get whatever they need if they're working on a project or stuff has hit the fan and they need something in a hurry. This store has the larger format, so they got a bit of everything, except wood products. I always go here for my automotive stuff because the auto staff is awesome.
Aiden S — Google review
Only issue I had with the food in the buffet was that the selection and quality was so good, I ate way to much. The service was great. I could not get my water glass half empty before she was there to top it up. Then they had this real cute robot which sang while bringing us our fortune cookies when we were finished.

City park
Puntledge Park is a beautiful recreational area with a short trail that runs alongside the river. It is easily accessible for people of all ages and abilities. Visitors may have the chance to witness kayakers gliding along or observe large fish swimming upstream. During summer, it's a popular spot for swimming and relaxing. However, it lacks a standout scenic view.
Loved this park! Playground is great. Lots for the kiddos to climb and swing and slide on. The river is the main event though. We tossed rocks in the river for an hour or so and could have stayed all day. Nice and quiet. Great shade. Easy parking. Good times.
Brett S — Google review
The river is Stunning, fast flowing, but also places where you can float around more and swim, not so much of a current. There were people going down the river on their tubes, it wasn’t too busy. Lots of parking. About a five minute walk to river from parking lot. Best to bring water socks or good sandals to wear in river cause rocks are slippery, and not as easy to walk on. Although there are some areas where it’s more pebbles. I loved it here I will cone back.
Christa — Google review
Short but well maintained walking paths. In the Fall you can see salmon feeding in the river and returning to spawn in the creek. A nice park to spend an hour or so taking in nature's beauty
Matt J — Google review
A great spot to start your tubing adventure. We hired tube from Blue Toque Sports and squeezed the 2 tube into a medium sized SUV. From getting in at Puntledge Park we floated easily down the river. The water level was a little low. I would recommend wearing a pair of water proof shoes or sandals as you may need to push on rocks or trees. Try and read the water as we scrapped our bottoms on a few rocks. We got out at Lewis Park, and walked our tube under the bridge and back to Blue Toque. Trip took about 1 hour. Great fun
Greg F — Google review
Nice small, short, trail along the river. Easily accessible to all ages and abilities. Might see kayakers float by, or large fish swimming up river. Popular spot to swim, tube the river, play with dogs, and hangout in the summer. There's a small playground with swings, slides, and standard park equipment. The only thing it lacks is a standout scenic point. Closest marks are the large boulder across the river that many people jump off in the summer (locally known as big chief), or the bend across from the park where the small bridge crosses over. This is where dozens, and sometimes hundreds, of fish can be found if you choose to snorkel here.
Kraig G — Google review
Nice park that has a river where you can fish for salmon depending on the time of the year. The paths where nice with some wooden bridges and a nice walk through the forest. The River was nice to see and listen too. There were people fishing along the river while I walked around. The place was nice and peaceful. There was a person in an electric scooter going around too so some parts where easy to get to and move around.

As a teenager I always went to the Original Boston Pizza on Jasper Avenue in Edmonton. Now as a Senior my wife and I relive that experience every 6 weeks @ the Courtenay location as we order the large Boston Royal. This gives some extra slices for lunch the next day. Always excellent and the waitresses sometimes get the correct answer to my quiz. What was the name of the city that had the first Boston Pizza? Edmonton
Ronald B — Google review
A few weeks ago, after visiting my leg dude, we stopped at Boston Pizza for lunch in Courtney on Vancouver Island. When I went to use the “accessible “ washroom it was locked. The waitress told me that it’s always locked and they keep brooms and things inside. I informed her I would have to get in the car and drive to the mall to use a washroom before my 45 minute drive home - her response was sorry. I contacted their head office, sent a message on messenger, researched the building code for accessible washrooms when this building was built, I was pissed. Had a long chat with the manager and was told I should have been allowed to use it, all staff know to unlock the door. I suggested a note on the door so customers would know to ask. Well yesterday we went back unannounced and wow. The washroom has been cleaned out and is repainted. He has a companion chair in case it’s needed. And a lovely sign in the door telling customers how to access this washroom. Thank you Nick for not only listening but responding!

Why can't I post Willow photos but willow can post hot tub photos? Wow what over priced cheap quality food. The chocolate explosion cake is pretty good but at that price I can buy half a cake! $5 for a $2 ginger beer? And previous reviewer "Willow" gave this place 5 stars and said the cottage was nice and provided a photo of the hot tub. This is BOSTON PIZZA Willow! Not your rental cottage 😂🤣👎

We had lunch at Boston Pizza in Courtenay. The restaurant was not busy, it took our server way too long to bring us our beverages, 3 coffees and a lemonade. Not once were we asked if we wanted refill of our drinks. Our food arrived, sad to say our food was so so. The quesadilla didn't even look like it was cooked, pressed in a hot pan, the spicy Mac & cheese was more sauce than anything and the Caesar salad had way too much dressing. Don't think we will be back.

Kelly & Carlos O'Bryan's Courtenay is an Irish-themed pub and family restaurant located at 2910 Kilpatrick Ave. It offers a lively atmosphere and a guarantee of complete customer satisfaction. The menu features delicious food and beverages, including the famous Irish Whiskey Onion Burger. This pet-friendly establishment welcomes dogs at outdoor tables, which are available seasonally. Visitors can enjoy a variety of tasty pub fare and an extensive liquor menu while soaking up the sun on the patio.
Visiting for a day, decided to find something to eat. Ordered the bacon cheddar burger, my partner ordered the Cajun chicken burger. The burgers were big, messy, full of flavor, and tasty. Fries were well seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Service was really good and very clean restaurant. We will come again when we come back up.

Third time going with bad outcome. First time was their champ potatoes were so saturated with seasoning couldn't eat it. Waitress said new cook. 2nd time we waited 45 minutes for a waitress, food was okish, but not everything came out together so some were finished before others. ,3 rd time was the worst!! Steak was barely warm and raw... ( Asked for med rare) Chicken could not bite thru it. Childs burger was rare. We loved this place before, not sure what has happened but won't be returning.

I really enjoyed our visit. Clean, friendly... Not the cheapest place, but far from expensive. I adored the tuna tacos, but found the prime rib burger a little overwhelming - not in a bad way, just a lot going on. I liked it... And I especially liked hearing about their charitable activities. Great donation commitments!

My large family tried just about the biggest range you could get and EVERYTHING was delicious! As a picky eater myself, I decided to have the chicken lips and Pachos and LET ME TELL YOU! I didn’t think chicken fingers and fries could get any better, but BOY DID THEY EVER! Plus, if you haven’t yet had a chance to witness first hand the most insane drink menu you’ve ever seen, now is the time to do so. Their menu is CRAZY, (but I will never get anything other than the bartenders love juice, trust me you won’t either) Overall, Kelly O'Bryan's offers a perfect blend of delicious food, excellent service, and a welcoming environment. Whether you're a local or just passing through Courtenay, this spot is a must-visit!

Canadian restaurant
The Yellow Deli is a charming eatery that offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, and breakfast options. In addition to their food menu, they also have a juice bar where you can enjoy smoothies and other refreshing drinks. The cozy atmosphere with a crackling fire adds to the dining experience, making it an ideal spot for a delicious meal.
Fantastic woodwork interior and atmosphere, super friendly staff who make locally great food from locally sourced ingredients. 10/10 would recommend

Well it's worth coming here just for the unbelievably unique and creative interior. The service was very friendly and quick. We found the food to be delicious and the bread was very fresh. We had a Reuben sandwich and a lamb sandwich and they were very fresh tasting and delicious but I would have given them a five-star (overall and for the food) if there was more flavor. They were both a bit bland including the coleslaw

Had the veggie burger with chips, very good! Not a processed veggie burger it’s made in-house, great flavor, and a big portion (I couldn’t finish it). Chips were crispy and tasty. Cool atmosphere with a cozy, cottagey feel. Definitely would comeback.

This restaurant probably has the best chili and corn bread I’ve ever had! Paired with their cold root beer it was amazing. My sister took me here while I was visiting her in Comox, and I will definitely come back if I was ever in the island again.

The food was absolutely amazing! It was my first time here and I had the lamb sandwich, which I’ll definitely be ordering again. The only downside was the service—our server came across as quite cold and never checked in to see how we were enjoying our meal or if we needed anything else. The food alone makes me want to come back, but I hope the service improves to match the quality of the kitchen.

We head about this place from our Friends who live in the area. This place was a must to visit for us. The sandwiches are Unbelievably good, so as the Soup of the day. All 3 us had a different dish and we were all blown away from the quality. A Lady was out server, but others touched the table as well to serve us. They were very knowledgeable and kind. The interior of the restaurant is made of hand made furniture and design. We were offered to sit on the patio but we opted for the table inside to be surrounded by the beautiful furniture and design. We wanted to buy some bread to go, but they only sell bread on Tuesdays and Fridays. We returned on Friday for their Spelt flour Sourdough. The prices are moderate for what you get. They don't serve alcohol, but they serve homemade juices and smoothies. They have an Excellent Tea selection as well. The Iced Chai Tea was very refreshing with a hint of cinnamon. I would recommend to visit this play when visiting the area.

very warm and cozy place, staff were nice but somewhat absent. i had the corn beef/roast beef sandwich with a coffee and it was phenomenal! you can tell it’s all homemade. definitely a cute place for lunch.

One of the most beautiful cafe's I've ever been to. The waitress was the sweetest lil lady, and the snack portions were generous. They also sell tasty maté tea bags.

Pub
Griffin Pub, established in the early 80s, is a popular spot in Comox Valley offering a traditional pub experience. Situated near the air base, it exudes a relaxed atmosphere and provides ample indoor and outdoor seating. The pub serves an array of great beers on tap and classic pub fare. Its authentic interior features an aviation theme that pays homage to the local military training grounds. Additionally, Griffin Pub is known for its warm hospitality and serves as an important community hub.
Sat outside, as we had the dog with us. We all had the burgers, which was the special and boy, were they good! Great staff, great food and atmosphere!

A very cool old pub. Classic pub food. I heard the schnitzel is amazing! I had a salmon burger which was delicious! I walked in on a trivia night - quite fun I have to say!

In 1984 we watched the Griffin Pub being built. Over the years we have always dropped in and enjoyed their fish and chips. It is best described as a warm cozy place that sort of feels like your home. Friendly people and great food. I had the potato leak soup and fish and chips. It can get very busy for lunch so remember it opens at 11:00 AM. Thanks for all the years of great service.

It had been years since I had been to The Griffin, but tonight hubby and I gave it a go! We had a fabulous dinner! The baked brie was my favorite part, but everything was great! To top it off, Chelsea, our server was absolutely wonderful. Super friendly and efficient! Overall a great evening!

Our first visit. It was busy when we arrived for dinner, but we found a seat and we were given a friendly greeting. I had the schnitzel with veg and mashed potatoes. Delicious. SL had a burger which she said had a lovely char and flavour and the onion rings wete perfect. Although we were full we had to try the peanut butter pie It was good, but a bit dense. We look forward to many more visits.

My husband and I shared the bangers and mash and we both agreed that the bangers had a really weird/off flavour. They were not very nice but luckily the mash, peas and gravy were good. Wouldn’t recommend that particular meal but otherwise the pub is good and staff were pleasant.

Feedback is based on multiple trips over the course of four years. Have been there multiple times as it is unfortunately the closest to my house. 1) Service/cleanliness. I have had waitresses serving my food while eating nachos themselves x 1. Same waitress ringing me in at the bar while eating pie x 1. Another waitress cleaned off my table by brushing the crumbs on the floor with her bare hand. If cleanliness is important to you, probably not the place to go. Waitresses also tend to have an attitude or “quirk” which I’m sure some old guys enjoy, but really it’s just unprofessional and they aren’t charming enough to get away with it and really it just comes off rude. 2) Food. Food is decent now. They have made major upgrades in this category, but it still can’t compete with any other bar in town. 3) Venue. Nice patio. Usually ruined by smokers. No kids allowed. Although probably a blessing in disguise for the kids. 4) Take home. In summary, skip this place unless you have no other options. I really would love if this place was at least clean as it’s so close to my house. When I used to live near Roy’s (excellent pub in Royston), I was there all the time. Try Timber Room (relatively close with professional servers and good food) or Land and Sea (excellent nachos).

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and quite a selection on the menu. The food is very tasty and nicely presented. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The service was right on. I had the meatloaf and my wife had a hamburger both were very delicious. We will be back to try some other things on the menu.
