Fish & chips restaurant
Sam's Chowder House is a classic seafood restaurant that offers a modern twist on New England dining. It has gained popularity for its clam chowder, lobster rolls, and the picturesque patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The restaurant has won awards for its seafood and is known for serving fresh catches daily. With an extensive menu featuring traditional New England dishes with a gourmet touch, visitors can enjoy fresh poke and oysters at the raw bar or savor real-deal lobster rolls in the bright dining room.
A beautiful restaurant right on the water! We got the oysters rockerfeller & shared a naked crab sandwich. The lump crab dipped in butter atop the crunchy but soft thick garlic loaf was perfect! Both were very delicious & left you wanting a little more. So we finished with the key lime pie & omg was that to die for! There’s a path to the left of the patio that lets you down to a nice seating area & walkway closer to the water. Perfect for a little after meal stroll. Don’t skip out on this California gem!

We have come several times to this restaurant. We love the view and food is delicious. Somehow they reduce the menu items and change the grilled octopus recipe. Portions are smaller and prices are higher. Drinks were better last time we were here.

We went on a Friday morning, 15min before they open there was already a long queue. We got seated very quickly after they opened. We ordered lobster rolls, grilled oysters, fried calamari and seafood pasta. The lobster roll was the best I’ve ever had, the meat was overflowing! Everything else was very decent too! The view from the restaurant was definitely a plus. Will 100% back again.

Place has a great location and SOME menu highlights, but overall it’s due for an update. The decor feels outdated, and if you choose to sit outside, make sure it’s not windy - it can literally blow your appetite away. The ladies’ restroom line was endless, which definitely took away from the experience. Most of the menu leans on deep-fried items that come out oily, and the fish was soaked in grease. The fries was way overdried and felt like spice lid broke loose over it. On the positive side, the New England clam chowder stood out!, large portion easily feeds two and had solid, rich flavor. Beverage selection was decent with a fair range of draft beers. Overall, the place still has potential, but it’s calling for a refresh in both design and dish selection to match its view and reputation.

10.25.25 Super busy and full of customers, even at 4pm. Wait time was 20 min. Our meals of Cioppino, Swordfish & Dressed Lobster Roll were excellent. And not overly salty, you can add salt & pepper to adjust to your taste. New England Clam Chowder was good also. Everything was fresh and cooked just right. Bread, while fresh, was cold due to them not heating it prior to serving as they "don't have oven capacity to accomodate for bread" we were told very apologetically. Our server Jesus A., was great, he made us feel very welcome, our first time dining here. Thank you to him!

Always a great experience at Sam's Chowder House! Shared a few plates, the clam chowder was the right consistency, not too thick. Fish and chips with coleslaw were perfect with the, crab louie and bay shrimp salad both had generous portion of seafood. Octopus appetizer was delicious! Sorry for shadow on photos we were enjoying the outside.
Brenda Q — Google review
Sam’s Chowder House lobster rolls was the best I have ever had. There was a lot of lobster and it was slightly seasoned. We ordered the Naked Lobster Roll which means it is a little warm. I have only had cold lobster rolls so I really enjoyed the warm lobster roll. The bread was SO GOOD. It looks like a pretzel roll but it is not. It was a buttery toasted soft bread. I enjoyed the bread just as much as the lobster. Their clam chowder was so-so😑. It tastes more like celery soup than clam chowder. There is inside and outside seating. We enjoyed the outside seating overlooking the harbor. We dined at night and the temperature was chilly but the heating lamps made the area nice and warm.

This place was AMAZING!!!! Nice view, sitting on the coast. AMAZING food! Great staff. Busy, but efficient. We weren’t looking for a place to eat really, but we drove by this place earlier and cars were overflowing the lot parking on the road (that is a good sign normally). We were passing again later and had some timing for a spot that was too good to pass up. They were busy but we got seated in 2 minutes. EVERYTHING we ate was INCREDIBLE!!

Pillar Point Harbor is a bustling refuge for commercial fishing, sport fishing, and leisure boating. The harbor offers a picturesque setting to witness stunning sunrises over the Pacific Ocean and provides opportunities for outdoor activities such as kayaking, fishing, and whale-watching tours. Visitors can also enjoy purchasing fresh seafood directly from the fishermen. Additionally, the area is popular for surfing at Surfers Beach and Mavericks Beach.
A small but bustling harbor with public walkways and benches with plenty of high end shops and restaurants nearby. I’m a sucker for wildlife so the abundance of pelicans, harbor seals and seal lions was a delight
Nash H — Google review
At the pier, you can find a variety of fresh seafood. In the past, the prices were much cheaper compared to inland markets, but now they’re no longer affordable. Previously, you could negotiate prices, and each boat offered slightly different rates. Now, all the prices are the same and more expensive. As long as the crabs are alive, there’s not much difference in taste or quantity whether you buy them from the market or the boats. With such high prices, I don’t see a reason to come all the way here to buy them. Rock crabs are said to be affordable, but I wouldn’t recommend coming here for Dungeness crabs.

Nice facility. They were working on the ramp area but we're very accommodating. The fish cleaning station was fair and the restrooms were clean. Parking is a bit of a way from launch area but was very well maintained, secure and clean. No complaints and the fishing was excellent 🐟🎣🐟🎣

We bought several types of fresh seafood, including rockfish, as well as crab and uni from the fishing boats here. The prices are cheap, the products are fresh, and the vendors are very friendly. Shopping for seafood here has become a fun family activity.

The pier was named after the congressman who helped raise money for the harbor project. It is one of the most active commercial fisheries. Where customers are allowed to buy directly off the fishing boats. Arrive early, because many boats sell out by late morning. No fishing license is required to fish off the Johnson Pier. The designated area is at the rail nearest to the Harbor Patrol Office. This would be a great date spot. Spend the day fishing or crabbing, while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Don't forget snack food and drinks. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

Love this marina! You can stay as a transient vessel for a fair price. Lots of nice people live and work here. The harbor master Betty is very friendly and helpful and has gone out of her way to help us multiple times. The anchorage is beautiful and is protected by a sea wall, the price of anchoring is even better!

Great location next to the new Harbor Village RV. Many shops to choose from and excellent restaurants all around. Half Moon Bay Brewery has both great beer and food. Hop Dogma Brewery is here as well and has consistently has good beers on tap.

Seafood restaurant
Barbara's Fishtrap is a beloved cash-only fish shack in Princeton-by-the-Sea, offering traditional seafood favorites and stunning views of Half Moon Bay. Established in 1971, this family-owned restaurant provides a laid-back atmosphere with the option for beachfront takeout. The menu features award-winning clam chowder, seafood pastas, and daily catches, but their specialty lies in serving some of the best fish and chips in the area.
Such an adorable fish shack on the beach. Perfect location. Plenty of seating inside and out. They have patio seating up and down the street as well as a cozy inside seating space. I felt like the price was very affordable for how much you get. 5 decent sized pieces of fresh cod with some of the best steak fries I’ve ever had was only $21. It came out hot and fast. We just stood at a table bench near by and watched the waves and people drive by as we enjoyed our lunch. We also got a cup of clam chowder which was delicious. All in all a great stop in Half Moon Bay for some delicious traditional California Bay Area fare!

On a chilly Tuesday, I decided on a little trip over to half moon bay. After spending some time hiking and enjoying nature, we were hungry and chose Barbara’s Fishtrap. I had been scrolling through reviews and this seemed like a great place so I knew I had to try it out. All of the food was excellent, perhaps other than the oyster tempura sandwich. There were only 3 measly oysters which is terrible. However the large fish trap was fantastic. Everything on that plate was cooked well and tasted great. If I were to go back I definitely would skip the oyster sandwich because it does not feel worth the price at all for 3 fried oysters with relatively cheap items accompanying it. However, the saving grace of this meal was definitely the actual fish trap which is more of what they’re known for. In the future I would definitely just share the large fish trap among two people. Service was also nice but I could tell they were being rushed through everything.

We arrived within 10 min of the restaurant opening and took the last table. It's worth the wait if you have to. The staff is friendly and efficient. The clam chowder was very fresh and tasty. We tried most tempura items (fish, scallop, shrimp, zucchini, and more). Everything was flavorful but hands down the scallops were the best. I'd order a plateful with some cheese bread. The bread on my fried oyster sandwich was perfectly toasted. I added the coal slaw to give it freshness and crunch. The steak fries were hefty and filling. The zucchini was a perfect side. We walked away completely satisfied. The portions are shareable. We will be back for more.
Allan S — Google review
The best items I tried here were the fried Ocean prawns tempura and the Key Lime Pie with the Kona Hawaiian beer. The key lime pie was yummy...not exactly the same as I had in Key West (because the type of lime used is different here). The fish and garlic butter prawns were ok. I loved the Ocean prawns and the Kona Big Wave beer was the smoothest lightest beer almost like a lager. Definitely goes super well with orange wedges squeezed in it!
Sagar — Google review
The restaurant closes to change frying oil between 3:00 to 3:45 but they start closing down earlier if needed. When we were there recently on a weekend, they stopped taking orders at the take out counter before 2:45 so just be aware and plan accordingly. It's an awesome fish shack. During peak lunch period, the wait time for a table in the restaurant can be an hr or more long. The line for the take out counter can also be long but it moves fairly quickly. There are several picnic style tables outside. Many people also take it to go on the beach. The fish and chips is what we get almost every time. The clam chowder is the best. They can broil the fish instead of frying it if you want. Just ask.
Nancy C — Google review
Parking is difficult. Long line to order. 25-30 minute wait to be seated. 10 minute wait for to go. Decent amount of seating for to go outside the restaurant. Fish and chips was very greasy, but tasty. Clam chowder- potato based, with good flavor and a decent amount of clans. Decent portion size. I wouldn't rush back- plenty of other restaurants to try nearby.
Jeff ( — Google review
Fresh seafood and amazing customer service. The scallops are incredible. As well as the Crab sandwich, Ceasar salad, clams, and tempura mushrooms. Their clam chowder is also a must. No cream added. They utilize the potato to get this incredible texture and thickness in the soup that's craveable. We live in SF but it's worth the 30 or ao minutes to get there. Dog friendly patio. Always a plus.
Korena C — Google review
I like Barbara’s Fish trap. The ceviche is the best. It had the right amount of onions and cilantro if you like onions and cilantro. It is served with a side of pita chips. The fish and chip were good as well. The fish tastes fresh. The atmosphere was unique. It is a spot on the side of the harbor. We enjoyed sitting at the picnic tables along the side of the restaurant. We will definitely return to try other dishes.

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company is a laid-back brewpub in California that offers delicious coastal pub fare and house beers. The brewery overlooks Pillar Point Harbor, providing a scenic backdrop for enjoying their continuously rotating selection of craft beers, including an IPA and fall harvest ale made with local pumpkins. Inside, you can savor Dungeness crab nachos and beer-battered fish & chips in cozy surroundings.
My coworkers and I came to this place after a hike and needed nourishment. The menu contained lots of options for everyone and the dishes looked delicious. We picked a few appetizers to share and all of them were tasty. If you enjoy pickles go for their fried pickles. It's nicely breaded and fried and it is just yummy! I went for the seared ahi tuna and it was tasty. A large portion of tuna that came with avocado, egg roll, and rice. If you're in the area you need to check this place out!

This is one of the few spots available in Half moon bay for decent drinks and food overlooking the ocean. Hence, went here. There was a wait time for about half hour on a Saturday afternoon. Mushroom soup was soup of the day. Truffle fries were good and mango cider was good too. Fish tacos were decent.
Apurva B — Google review
Now is the perfect time to visit, with pumpkins seasons and the weather being just right. There were a lot of people on the weekend, but the wait was only 10 minutes. Sitting at the outdoor tables, many people brought their dogs, and there were 11 ! I ordered claims chowder, prawn salad, fish taco, and fried calamari ( a little bit too dry ) Every dish was good. The service was very diligent and they refilled the drink all the time. Parking easy !

This place has absolutely DELICIOUS beer and super friendly service. Me and my husband love coming here when visiting Half Moon Bay. I wish that I could give them five stars. However, the last two times we have been there and I have gotten food poisoning. Yesterday after eating there I was the only one of our party of four that ordered fish and now I am having it come out of both ends. (Trying not to be graphic, but just being honest.) My husband who orders a burger every time we come has never gotten food poisoning. So, in summary, if visiting this place get ready for amazing beer and friendly service, but maybe stick with a burger and stay away from the fish.......

This place is wonderful! The service is great, the food is divine, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I've visited three times total, third time I brought my family with me. It's worth the price! I'll definitely keep coming back!

Pretty solid brewpub. I think the food is better than the beers. The quality and freshness of the seafood is there and I never had a bad dish. I think they make the best clam chowder in HMB. I get it every time I come here and I've tried all of the chowders in the area. The beers are decent at best, never had any standouts but all very drinkable. Service varies. Big restaurant with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a popular spot so you may have to wait during peak times. Parking is free and not too difficult in the large shared parking lot around the restaurant.

Mavericks Beach is a renowned spot for experienced big-wave surfers and hosts an exclusive competition. The beach is also dog-friendly and offers opportunities to explore underwater treasures during low tide. Families often visit on weekends with buckets to collect interesting finds, such as starfish and other wildlife. However, parking can be limited, and it's vital to park in legal spots to avoid fines.
if you have a kid, this is a fun place to visit during summer because the tide pool. make sure to look up the tide schedule though.

This was my second visit and I was once again disappointed. The beach is dirty and there are hardly any waves. Nice walk to the beach, though.
Brigitte J — Google review
Very nice walk and tide pools. The dog police was not reinforced so the dogs were off leash. It had a bit of trash along the way to the tide pools.
Taynara M — Google review
This is such a fun, dog-friendly beach! When the tide is low, you can bring buckets and find cool things under water. You’ll probably have to do more research on what exactly people find, but there were dozens of families and people out on a Sunday afternoon with buckets full of things! Very cool! Also the starfish and other wildlife was so beautiful! Only con: very limited parking and be cognizant of parking in LEGAL spots. Cheers mate!!
Abe H — Google review
Dog friendly beach with very interesting tide pool ecosystem to discover. On the weekend there are families with children playing with sand, people collecting clams. We used the chance of low tide and walked to the other side (Ross’ Cove). It was quite an exciting trip.
Chia-chen L — Google review
Beautiful beach to just sit and watch. Nice walk out to the base of the cliff. The sunken eye sore in the shallows that’s probably contaminating water and the trash we kept finding everywhere was a turn off. Pay lots of taxes for dirty state beaches.
Jon P — Google review
Beautiful beach, but watch out for broken mussel shells 🐚 and jelly fish 🐙 in the sand (both are EVERYWHERE). Practically NO ONE follows the leash law while walking the trail from Pillar Point, so anticipate lots of random dogs running up to you. 🐕🐾 Also, the parking lot to access the trail to the beach is nearly always packed full on the weekend when weather is nice. Road access beyond the entrance to the parking lot is restricted by the military base atop the hill, so if you get tired of waiting for a parking spot to open up, you'll have to make a U-turn on the road and find somewhere else to park. When we were waiting for a parking spot, a group of chatty dog-walkers were standing around gabbing with one another, blocking the entrance to the parking lot before finally pulling out, with seemingly no regard for the long line of cars waiting. 🙄😒 Other than that, the scenery is soothing. 🏖️🌅⛵ It's an enjoyable experience visiting a place with so much history. 🏄‍♀️🌊 You can hear the seals from Pillar Point Harbor barking as you walk along the trail. There are warnings posted about bacterial contamination of the stagnant water around Pillar Point (marsh) before you get out to the actual beach, so I'd be wary of playing in the water there. There are porta-potties at the entrance to the trail, but that's the only spot, so use the bathroom before you get out to the beach. Children and adults who enjoy collecting sea shells will be delighted to find mussel shells, colorful sea snail shells, sand dollars, and many others. 🦐🐚 We even found a tiny pearl! 📿 There is also a wealth of other flora and fauna to be explored in the tide pools, along the trail, and around the beach!
Heather B — Google review
Hands down one of the best places on the planet for big wave surfing...brought my family here to see this place for the awesomeness that it is and for myself to exercise some demons from my past. Have been scared to set foot on Mavericks for years as it almost killed me back in my early 20's. I remember the water being very cold and the water moving very fast. Seals and otters are everywhere along the water. Parking is scarce at best on a half decent day, so on a beautiful day be prepared to walk as there isn't any roadside parking due to the military base and the traffic in and out. The lot itself is very small and parking can get very tight. Half moon bay is a great place to walk around and just soak in the surroundings, mind you the crazy abundance of seaweed can get overwhelming for the nostrils. Cool ride pools make it extra enjoyable too. Beware of sneaker waves and keep your distance from the napping seals on the beach. Remember to thank Jeff Clark in your prayers for having the balls and the vision to even attempt riding Mavericks at all let alone all those years...alone. Hit up the surf shop and chill at the bar for some wobbly pops and chow. Ride on brothers and sisters and remember W.W.E.D. Peace.

Fresh and plentiful. Great place to get your seafood fix. Came here at 11am on Sunday right when they opened and there was no wait.

Nothing to see here move along.. The line was long and it was disappointing at the end. First of all they asked me if I wanted fries on the side with my meal but they didn't make it clear that it was an extra $4-7 charge and I felt misled. The price is really expensive for the quality you get but I also understand that they may charge these prices because of the location. I got the house salad and added chicken for more than half the cost of the salad. But the chicken was so dry it was like jerky. The Shrimp Bo Boy sandwich didn't have enough sauce and the shrimp was cold. The chowder bowl was $10 and it was the size of my palm. It was good though. I just hope they make it themselves and didn't heat it up from a can. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe I was just unlucky. But it was bad enough to make me never come here again.

The seafood is good, we stood in line for about 45 minutes while locals skipped the line and ordered inside. The seafood is worth the price, but everything else is overpriced to prevent spouses and friends from just ordering a burger and backing up the kitchen. Just get some fish with a soda and maybe some sweet potato fries ($4) and you'll be a happy camper. Any questions about the food during ordering seemed to be met with agitation and frustration, but the service was happy and helpful. "Shuddup and order Seafood.". Also, the fish market in the back was nice and seemed like good food. My wife thought the Clam Chowder was very good as well...

Clam-chowder was spectacular! I know certain people can be picky about the texture of chowder, so just know this one is more on the thick side. I went for dinner on a Saturday night and they close at 8, but because it was a slower day they closed early. I would recommend calling ahead to make sure they are open. Many seafood choices!!! I had the seafood linguine, and I have to say it was not the best one I've had. There was no flavor, and mind you I've had actual frutti di mare in Italy. Even with all of the seafood options, there are enough options for a NON-seafood lover. I would definitely come back!

I went today to enjoy a ceviche by the beach. I have been there last year and it was ok. But I don't know what happened to this place.. Ceviche was not good at all. I ordered limeño and mixto. Fish was with scales and hard membranes, corn and sweet potato was hard undercook. And worst of all it didn't have enough lime. I am peruvian and I feel bad thinking other people try this and think this is how peruvian Ceviche should taste. Chicha morada wasn't great either. Family-owned Peruvian Restaurant. We tried the Saltado with Beef Tenderloin and the Beef Empanadas. The Beef Tenderloin is tender and delicious. The empanadas are flaky and filled with seasoned ground beef. Everything is fresh-tasting. My wife and I shared this meal and it was much more than two of us could eat.

Great Peruvian food outside of Peru! The fried pork , plantains and the ceviche are all good. It is also a plus when the price is reasonable compared to many other Peruvian spots in the Bay Area. Follow my friends recommendation, we get the food to go and ate them at the brewery next door where we got some drinks with the food.

If you are in the area, this is a great casual place to eat. The Peruvian food was outstanding and it was priced reasonably. The employees were very nice. It was a great experience overall.

My friend and I love Peruvian food, we’ve gone to El Cerrito, SF Mission, Pacifica and Half Moon Bay (Lamas). Lamas is located inside of the shopping center, absolutely delicious food! The food is flavorful and authentic we get the Lomo Saltado usually with chicken or beef, rice, fries and an addictive sauce. Perfection! We’ve tried a lot of different items on the menu and everything tastes great and has flavor! This place gets walked by often and people seem to go to the fancy Peruvian spot outside instead I forgot the name of the place but it has hostesses and white table cloths but if you want real flavor and feel like you spent your money well, feel full and satisfied after a meal-try Lamas. I’ve never left this place feeling regretful I leave feeling full, like I spent my money well and like I look forward to returning to try new items on their menu. Staff is very friendly, too!

This is the closest to Peruvian Food that I have found in the Bay Area. I have eaten in several restaurants, really expensive "gourmet" food but it does not come close the "criollo" taste that you can get from the Jalea Peruana or Ceviche Limeño. I've just eaten in the lunch truck outside and even though I was thrown off by the Peruvian / Mexican Cuisine Name, I will eat at this place even if it takes 1 hr driving. Love it! If you already tried plenty of restaurants around San Francisco, Oakland, just give it a try. It may become your favorite spot (plus you can go to the beach).

Peruvian restaurant
Restaurant
La Costanera is a stunning oceanfront restaurant offering Peruvian cuisine in an elegant setting with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide breathtaking views of the water. Located at Pillar Point Harbor, this upscale establishment boasts a spacious patio and a seafood-focused menu featuring delectable dishes such as Scallops Carlitos and Langostinos Crocantes.
Had lunch there this afternoon. We had a variety of appetizers, fruit freeze beer. The ceviche and the fried calamari were good and fresh. The seafood paella was tasty, lots of fresh seafood, the fish stew was good, the swordfish was delicious, and the vegetarian taco with mushrooms was flavorful. Generous portions. Very good service, our waiters Michael and Guimba were so nice. It's nicer seating on the patio than inside the dining room. It's roomier sitting on the patio.

Delish! From the first bite to the last the food was excellent! I had the special which was swordfish and it was perfect! The sauce on the beet salad really kicked it up a notch! BF has the croquettes and the paella and that was also really good! Service was great, very attentive! Will definitely come back!

Very beautiful decoration and location. With indoor, outdoor, bar seating area. Just sad they didn’t open the second floor for lunch. Everything we order was absolutely delicious and love the seafood fried rice very much. It’s slightly pricey but very great food

This was the absolute best Peruvian I've ever had. So flavorful, delicious and plated nicely. The service was great as was the atmosphere. Wish we lived closer. My main course was so good I ate it before I got a picture. My husband got the lamb and potato lasagna looking thing (very fancy description I know). The other pic is their tuna tartar or ceviche (😬 I forget which), but it was AMAZING!!

This is a great peruvian restaurant! It is a fine dining restaurant and therefore perhaps not the most authentic or traditional, there are cheaper options for peruvian food if that's what you want. But the chefs here do an amazing job. The atmosphere is stunning, especially if you go on a clear day and can see the beach or the sunset. The interior is beautiful as well! The staff and friendly polite and professional. The ingredients are all top notch and fresh as can be, I don't believe anything on the menu could dissapoint. I particularly recommend the Chicha Morada Pisco Sour, and for the dessert the suspiro. Que requito esta! Edit for another visit (my 3rd?): definitely will get the Yucca Croquettes everytime, they're sooo good. Also the king salmon was the best salmon of my life, definitely! And while potatoes au gratin are always good, this was also the best rendition of that dish I have ever tasted!!!

I really hate giving bad reviews. Pretty sure we had an unusual experience here. It wasn’t terribly busy, we had a reservation but the service was pretty bad. I get that it’s a hard job, so I feel bad for complaining but it took maybe 45 mins to get drinks and water? We sat there just kinda sitting and waiting. The food was ok. I expected more, the cebiche sampler platter was not impressive. The ahi definitely did not seem sushi grade, which is a made up label anyway. Everything just felt mid. Some needed more salt, spice, citrus. I was impressed with their tequila selection. But the food and service really let me down. The server we had was nice, she just didn’t pay much attention to us. I wouldn’t come back here. I’m sure others have had better experiences, and maybe there’s better food on the menu. But I wouldn’t return.
Sarah H — Google review
We sat at an outdoor table and waited for over 20 minutes without even a glass of water, and no waiter came to ask if we had ordered. I hope the waiters in this restaurant can be more attentive and pay more attention to the guests sitting outdoors. As for the food, drinks and snacks, they were all very good.

It’s been a very long time since I have felt compelled to write a restaurant review, particularly a favorable one. Everything about our experience, here was terrific. Most importantly the food was superb, But the service and the environment were equally wonderful. Can’t wait to come back despite the 1 Hour drive

Beach House Hotel is a charming, beachfront property that offers spacious suites with cozy amenities. The staff is highly praised for their exceptional service and willingness to accommodate guests' needs. Guests appreciate the comfortable rooms with beautiful ocean views and the inviting outdoor pool. The hotel's convenient amenities such as free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking add to the overall enjoyable experience.
Beautiful hotel right on the beach. Very clean and well maintained property. Front desk personnel were very helpful. Most of the rooms have balconies and ocean view. My room had living area with couch bed, fully stocked kitchenette with stove, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, fire place , sleeping area with king size bed , two TVs and a stereo. There was a makeup/ powder area, dual sinks, tub and shower and toilet. Loved the hot tub, pool and beach access. The continental breakfast was full of pastries no one wanted. I watched as people would walk in, look at the selection and walk out talking nothing more than a drink. I recommend getting rid of the pastries and adding cereal, bacon, eggs and waffles. The juice and coffee selection was excellent. Overall I enjoyed my stay and recommend it to everyone.

My husband and I stayed at the Beach House Hotel from 9/5-9/7. We were incredibly disappointed with the dredging that was going on just a short distance from our ocean view balcony room. This dredging began at 6:30am and ended at 7pm EVERYDAY. Yes, 6:30am Saturday and Sunday morning till 7pm. It was an unusually warm weekend, we were unable to enjoy a cool sea breeze, open the windows, sit on the balcony or even listen to music because the dredging was so loud. I am disappointed with this lack of ethics in not disclosing to a guest about the dredging going on directly in front of the ocean view rooms. For $700 a night there are several other choices around Half Moon Bay. I wouldn’t be so angry if the hotel at least disclosed what is going on to offer the guest a choice of getting a quieter room, so at least the guest could make an informed decision. We were celebrating a special occasion and were very much looking forward to a quiet, peaceful and relaxing weekend.
Edith B — Google review
The suite was lovely, but the dredging in the harbor kept us from opening the balcony screen door. You couldn't hear yourself! We wish someone had mentioned that loud dredging would be happening at the time; we could have switched rooms, etc. Also, appreciated the fans in the third-floor suites, yet without AC, it was toasty during a warm early October weekend. Please consider adding AC.

We loved our stay for at the Beach House Hotel for Half Moon Bay Pumpkin and Art Festival. We found this hotel via internet search when looking for a place to stay. Comfortable and beautiful rooms with great views of the Bay. Loved the view, and the included breakfast was delicious! Great local pastries and options compared to other continental breakfasts we've had at other locations. We will definitely stay again.

We stayed a full week. Everything was really "very good". The staff was friendly and helpful and accommodating. Our room was very warm upon arrival & we were immediately given a fan to circulate the air and cool the room. If we ever needed anything... it was taken care of! From checking in to checking out (which was the sad part). The hotel is clean & comfortable, and you can't beat the location! Half Moon Bay was delightful! I made a reservation for a Partial Ocean View Junior Suite and I was disappointed with the “view.” My view was more of the parking lot than the ocean. The description in the reservation was misleading. Room could’ve been cleaner but wasn't disgusting. Room could also use upgrading for the price I paid. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and check in was easy. Didn’t pay for parking which was nice. A lot of restaurants near which is convenient. San Fran is close enough to drive to but far enough to avoid the busy crowds which was also super convenient. Overall, 3 out of 5.

Beautiful hotel and great location with proximity to walking, lovely views, beach, downtown HMB, etc. The main downside, unfortunately, was the very loud generator noise from the sand dredging in the harbor right outside the hotel. The noise was constant from my initial arrival (around 1pm) until 8pm that evening (Friday). It restarted at 6:30am the next morning! Great decor in the room and spacious. Loved the balcony. Breakfast was nice; would have liked more substantial items than mainly pastries/breads but they were very good! I will likely return but only if the generator noise is gone by then!

Dunes Beach is one of the four beaches that make up Half Moon Bay State Beach in California, USA. The beach offers various facilities such as picnic areas, a campground, and opportunities for fishing. Visitors can also enjoy splendid views and observe spring flowers in full bloom. Although the sand is warm, visitors should bring extra wind-resistant clothes as the water and wind are cold. The beach is less crowded than other beaches in the area and has restrooms available.
Venice beach is one of my favorite places. A lot to do, very hip. The art is incredible. A lot of great places to eat in town. The skatepark is great either to be a spectator or use. Very clean beaches. So many cool elements encapsulated into one great experience.

Beautiful because of the magnificent waves. I've never seen waves like this. They are high and far-reaching on the beach. I also saw a huge number of seagulls resting on the beach. They form their own territory just between two areas filled by human visitors.

A very enjoyable entry point to the beach. Restrooms are generous in size and very clean. There are also sinks and lowered faucets for feet washing outside. The parking lot is rather small which makes this spot more intimate compared to the nearby beaches. There is an entry to the walking/biking pass from the parking lot. Picnic tables are also available on the cliffs above the beach with the views.

Windy ….. but nice and clean beach. Campgrounds are very close to the beach. May be camping would be my next option for the San Francisco Area Visit.

Bring a jacket before coming out. Also remember to pay for the parking, there’s always couple of rangers around. Not sure they are there to patrol the park or doing parking enforcement. We came on a Friday and once you go down to the beach it’s so beautiful and isn’t crowded at all. Only few people is down by the water. Wonderful!! Oh, the bathroom was bit dirty. They could use some normal maintenance. 🤗

Windy, foggy & cool when we went. Typical San Fransisco weather I didn’t care for. We skipped the park so no idea what that would have been like. There is a walking trail if you’re a hiker. Parked down the road to avoid any entrance fees. View to the left of the beach was cool. Horses traveling on the beach frequently, which is totally my vibe of interest.

A very beautiful beach with camping facility. Parking here is $10 and you can do overnight camping. You can take your RV here as they have campsite with hookup facility for $50 for overnight camping. Enough restrooms . It's very beautiful currently due to full spring bloom. So many picnic tables here with bbq facility. So basically you can have a wonderful time with family and friends be it for some hours or overnight plans. There are some nets also for people to play beach volleyball as you can make out from the pics .

Horseback riding service
Sea Horse Ranch offers guided horseback rides along the coastal trail and Poplar Beach, with options for 60, 90, and 120-minute excursions. The experience begins with a basic horse riding lesson before embarking on a leisurely ride. The horses are described as sweet and docile, providing a comfortable journey. Riders appreciate the friendly and helpful guides who ensure everyone's safety.
Horses were very well taken care of., also very gentle and easy going. Took our reservation same day, and was very accommodating. Our guide was very knowledgeable, kept an eye on us, while also educating us about the horses backgrounds, and what to do and what not to do. Took pictures for us with our phones and was just a very nice man. Will definitely return!!

1 star for the view, 1 star for the cute horses, 0 star for the service. The welcoming and onboarding was rude and confusing. The guide yelled at everyone for not controlling the horse they just met...(so ridiculous. And the guide was super unprofessional- he fell off the horse in front of all of us and apparently the horse was uncomfortable. Their policy forbids you to bring any phone/electronic devices for "safety issue", but apparently they just wanted to sell you pictures with $76 dollars, otherwise you'll have to go home with NO PICTURE AT ALL after spending $300 for 2. The route was decent and my horse Roha was calm and cute, but I won't be back again.

We had an amazing experience at Sea Horse Ranch! I had been looking for a place to ride while traveling out in California. They got us in within 2 hours notice and made the booking policy very clear over the phone. The riding demo was informative and quick and I could tell the horses were well trained. I rode Eldorado and my husband rode Roja. They were trained so well it made things easy. I appreciated the wranglers’ care when assigning horses. Other ranches have split up couples before but they kept me and my husband next to each other. It made for a wonderful ride. This was no cheesy tourist ranch. This was the real deal with a ranchero flair. I need to give a special shout out to wrangler Armando. What a kind, gentle man! He gave clear direction and tips when necessary and also positive feedback when we listened to his direction. He smiled the whole ride. We enjoyed chatting with him and admired his ability to engage despite English being his second language. He was a wizard on his horse and was able to take so many amazing photos of my husband and I while riding - I will cherish them forever! The ride itself was breathtaking. I’ve done beach rides before, sometimes they’re misleading. You will ride along the ocean here and it’s so fun. Also a good mix of riding through fields and a little woods too. Going into trots at random was so fun too. Armando had such a good energy that we felt we could do anything on horseback. Don’t let anyone on here complaining about the wranglers or their own stupid shoes (just wear boots like a real rider) or phones sway you. Come here, listen well, go with the flow, and you too will leave with core memories. Thank you Sea Horse Ranch!
Virginia R — Google review
I will NEVER go to Sea Horse Ranch or recommend them because of the treatment to their horses. I have photos and video of a black horse tied so tightly to the roof it couldn’t move! The horses head was 1’ from the roof to his head. His chin was tilted up! The poor horse was being punished bcuz they turn circles, so the caretaker tied theee knots to prevent him or her from turning! I saw this from the road! I pulled over and shouted for help. A man came and frantically undid the three knots, then he went to get the caretaker. He had been napping. He tried to tell me that it was the horse’s fault that the horse twisted the rope and there were no knots, but he lied. I have photos. I have proof on my phone. The other two horses there were standing in their own urine. They only had 3 feet of rope between them and a tree. The horses are tied up for 6 -8 hours a day. There was no water available for them, nor grass or hay. Horses should be able to roam and be in a pasture . I reported them to Animal Control, and waiting for a report of what they did. The first pic is most telling.

Our group had a very disappointing experience. Two friends were turned away because staff claimed their sneakers were “too large,” which made no sense. I called ahead and was told the latest check-in was 1:15 p.m., so I arrived at 1:14—only to find the office empty. When we tried to explain, the owner accused us of having a bad attitude and refused to listen. No refund has been given so far.

Def the worst place! I wish I could give 0 stars! I had an appointment scheduled with them 1:30pm traffic was bad because accident happened on our way. The lady called me yelling at me on the phone (that was not normal or ok) she yelled at me saying if we were not there in 2 minutes they were leaving with us. She didn’t give me a chance to talk back because she yelled at me and hang out the phone on my face. It was more than enough time left. Ok we got there and she came to talk to us still very very rude I THINK I NEVER HAD A BAD TREATMENT IN CALIFORNIA LIVING HERE SINCE 2005. THAT WAS SOMETHING NOT NORMAL. There were two men that didn’t have any respect at all! They were calling us in Spanish “chula” when I was getting on the horse one of them got my leg and put my foot in a very rude way. The whole place is not ok. Something is wrong with that place. The horses looks very unhappy. My horse was very tired and hungry. On our way back we saw a horse with tapes on his eyes. My mom asked what is that? One of the Man said it was like a sunglasses for horses. (Lier) they abuse these horses. I will contact the animals abusive to check on them. I’m just in shock how they treated us so bad!!! they were lucky I had two friends from Brazil for a vacation in first time in SF. I wanted them to have that experience because if I was not with them I could def made a big problem there and call the cops. It is what they deserve. If I was not with two friends male with me I couldn’t even go because these men are dangerous too! They have no respect to the girls at all!!!! JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!
Rahyane R — Google review
Most of the ride parallels the bike path but then goes through trees and through a river. The water was pretty high at the end of May, almost to my feet so shoes and pants were pretty wet but was still the highlight of the trip. The beach was pretty and getting up and down the bluffs to the sand was exciting. The best part was that because there were only 2 couples in our group the guides were able to hold our phones and take pictures of us the whole time. I was expecting to pay $40+ for the photos so this was a nice surprise. I wish there was an opportunity to stop on the beach and get off for a few minutes. Do not expect to go riding off into the sunset or go at your own pace, even if you’re an experienced rider. The ride is a slow walk, single file and the horses follow the leader exactly. All you need to do is sit. Also, it would’ve been nice to be introduced to the animals and gotten some time with the guides. Literally the only thing they said was how to get on the horse and hold the reins, don’t do anything else. Knowing the horses name or getting any other information about the area where we were riding would’ve been nice. If you go in knowing these things you won’t be disappointed. We did have a great time.
Scott H — Google review
This could have been better. The photos that you do see on this page were taken without permission or awareness of the owner of the ranch. Because, their policy is no photos or electronic devices while riding the horses. The photographer that they do have, is a third party company according to the owner. And the photographer, takes all the photos from the side view from a top of the cliff. And the photos you buy are not edited, and contain a lot of burst shots (lots of duplicates). And finally the guides themselves. They may be knowledgeable, but they only speak 5% English. And so it is extremely difficult to communicate with them. Since they do not understand English, they lack common courtesy and etiquette, kindness. They are nice people, I am not saying they are mean. But they just slack the business etiquette of correcting someone. They tend to yell. The guide who was all the way in the front kept whipping the poor horse he was on with a belt. Constantly whipping the horse. It would definitely be a flagrant to foul in the NBA. I would not visit here again, but I laid out the reasons above on how the business can improve

Dad's Luncheonette is a charming cafe located in a historic train caboose on Highway 1, offering a menu of classic Cal-American comfort food with organic touches. Run by Chef Scott Clark, formerly of Saison in San Francisco, this spot is known for its fantastic hamburger and mushroom sandwiches, as well as addictive homemade potato chips seasoned with nutritional yeast. The take-out only venue also offers a few outdoor tables for dining.
I do like this spot a lot. Hamburger sandwiches and mushroom sandwiches has the perfect seasoning. Not too greasy, not too plain. The taste reminds me of the taste of home. I also like the Mac and cheese a lot. Not too sticky and cheesy, so that you can enjoy it one spoon after another.

Nice place to get good food near beach areas! I had the hamburger and my partner had the mushroom hamburger and homemade potato chips with a root beer to drink. Delicious! This place is busy on the weekends. They pump out the food pretty fast for a caboose!

Everything about Dad’s was simply excellent. Great vibes, love a tight menu, and the best burger I’ve had in a long time. The salad was clearly super fresh and the dressing unexpected and delicious. We stopped due to reading reviews of how awesome this place was. Wish the menu would have been larger as we had to settle on the burger(wife and I aren’t eating a mushroom sandwich). Homemade chips were good but nothing spectacular. Mac and cheese was unique and the crunchy rice added a great twist but the mac could definitely use more bold, flavorful cheese. Bees all outside in the waiting/ eating area so we decided to eat in the car.

This would be a 3.5/5 for my partner and I. We stopped here because the spot was unique (part of a train), but nothing special about the food (at least the item we got which was the hamburger sandwich). When we got there, the line was long and then we waited about 15-20 mins for the food. It was a very basic breakfast patty melt- it had a generic beef patty topped with a cheese, a piece of lettuce and pickled onions, and sandwiches by two pieces of toast. The sauce was light, almost non-existent. Portion is a normal sandwich- all for $17.00 which we thought was on the steeper side.
Erica C — Google review
I came to Dad’s Luncheonette with my dad 🫶 The mushrooms were juicy — they were more like beech or oyster mushrooms than the portabella that frequently comes in mushroom sandwiches or burgers. We thought the hamburger sandwich was more flavorful overall; the sauce definitely shines in it. The egg in both sandwiches carried because it smoothed out the different textures. The bread was a little bit dry, though. The herb salad was very … herby … for lack of a better word, and was very unique. The various herb flavors were very strong and you probably either love it or hate it. We did feel like we should’ve mixed it since it was oily on top and more lemony on the bottom.

Jersey Joe's Coastside is a popular spot for classic sandwiches, including hoagies, burgers, and Philly cheesesteaks. With a cozy atmosphere, it is a go-to place for locals seeking an alternative to seafood or burgers. Their cheesesteaks are consistently delicious and their garlic fries are a tasty addition. It's the perfect place to refuel after a challenging hike in the hills.
The food here was awesome. Everything the family ordered was great. The positive Google Maps reviews led us to try it on our family vacation. The cheese steaks we delicious. Their fries are amazing! The perfect amount of crisp and the right amount of oil. Enjoyed the chili cheese fries, too. Def recommend and would love to go back. Also, glad we overlooked it looking empty. There were people on the other side of the restaurant.

This place was great!! Really good cheesesteak and burger and would come again for sure. The tater tots were very salty though, and the ranch was just a 5.5/10 on my standards. This seems like a perfect place to take your child after a sporting game, or to watch a sports game in half moon bay. The one thing I couldn’t handle was the paper napkins, they sucked and it made me angry. I used 7+, just to eat a cheesesteak. But again, I would come back! Great for when you’re in the mood for a lil burger or cheesesteak.

I always like when there’s photos of the food to help me choose which is why I post reviews/photos especially for spots that have me checking online when their menus don’t have them. $20 for this sandwich seemed a little much but I didn’t realize how big it would be. It lasted me for 3 meals! Next time I’m in the area I will come back.

I go to a lot of cheesesteak places and this is the best cheesesteak place. I swear to God I've ever been to the staff was amazing. The cheesesteaks came out to die for

Good cheesesteaks. Yup, that's all I really have to say. We've been missing Jersey Joe's ever since the one close to us closed down, so this was pretty nostalgic. You definitely get what you pay for. One of my family members complained that their sandwich wasn't salty enough and had to add some salt, but mine tasted fine. Very filling lunch after a poor breakfast. Overall, 4/5.

Fun atmosphere. Good quality burgers. It says the hamburger is grass fed grain finished. The fries were 7 out of 10, the California burger I’d give an 8.2 out of 10. Overall a great burger. I would love to try the cheesesteaks another day. Would recommend you try it out.

Grabbed some fries and totes before we fought the traffic back to San Mateo on Saturday. Added cheese our curly fries and it was a whole 2 dollars extra LOL....I feel like they didn't have an option for that so they added like a small cheese fries to it...We also asked for ranch and it was forgotten. Besides that it was alright I guess Food: 5/10 Value: 5/10

Japanese restaurant
Shiki Japanese Cuisine is a contemporary restaurant located in a strip mall, offering a variety of sushi rolls and classic Japanese dishes. The restaurant is known for its signature rolls like the Shiki Roll and Dragon Roll. Customers have praised the enchanting decor and quick service, with dishes such as Teriyaki Chicken and Salmon receiving high praise for their perfect cooking and savory flavors.
I always come back here whenever I’m craving for Japanese food in HMB because I truly love their Honey Crunch Roll. I’m obsessed with it because the sauce is amazing, and every bite is filled. I’ve also tried their rice meals and noodles (not the biggest fan because I know they could do better) but the serving sizes are definitely worth every penny. Staff is very attentive too, even the chefs at the bar/sushi area. Among all these, their Miso soup is the underdog which they give when you order a rice meal. Would come back!

Fantastic time! Great service -- waitress was super friendly, took us less than 10 min to get our food, and the food itself tastes great. It's one of the pricier Japanese places on the coast, but definitely the best. We had the chicken Udon, the spider roll hand roll, and the steak skewers, and it came out to about $40.

Shiki is a friendly and comfortable Japanese restaurant. The lunch specials are great with lots of choices. The sashimi was excellent.

This was my first time here and I will be back! The Décor is Enchanting.... My Auntie ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and I had the Teriyaki Salmon both were cooked perfectly as was the Rice. The Teriyaki Sauce was Savory And mildly sweet..... Love It! Even the Soy Sauce was the best I've ever tasted!! And on top of all of that..... Our orders arrived Quickly. Priceless!!!

I wanted the lunch bento box special and despite the items being available, the restaurant would not accommodate my request for a vegetarian one. I even offered to pay more but was forced to order the items a la carte which meant large portions and I wasn’t able to finish. The food tasted good but the inflexibility left a not so good taste.

Hello At a local treat. So this place always has the good stuff. Got so busy eating and enjoying that I barely remembered to take a photo. As you can mostly see from this photo is that this stuff rocks... eat it before it’s gone!

Mexican restaurant
Taqueria Tres Amigos is a popular Mexican eatery in Half Moon Bay, known for its fresh ingredients and quick service. The menu offers customizable options like burritos, nachos, and tacos. Customers appreciate the all-you-can-eat chips and salsa bar, as well as the generous serving sizes at dinner. The restaurant has been a favorite for many years, with loyal patrons praising the authentic Mexican flavors and large portions at reasonable prices.
Tres Amigos Taqueria in Half Moon Bay is a true gem of the community, serving locals and visitors alike with incredible food and hospitality since 1985. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a charming and rustic atmosphere, highlighted by a vaulted ceiling with shiplap paneling and sturdy sawn lumber beams that give the space a warm, inviting vibe. The restaurant offers fast and efficient service, along with a fun and friendly ambiance. The staff are exceptionally professional, well-dressed, and attentive, even going the extra mile to clear plates off the table when you’re finished. Ordering is easy, and the food comes out quickly without compromising quality. The menu is loaded with delicious options, but the super beef burrito is a standout. Generously portioned, it’s a challenge even for those with a hearty appetite. The flan dessert, served in a convenient foldable box, is a delightful way to end the meal. For drinks, the rice water is refreshing and perfectly complements the flavorful food. The pico de gallo with the corn tortilla chips is another must-try—it’s fresh, zesty, and packed with flavor. Tres Amigos is conveniently located at a prominent corner with plenty of parking and outdoor seating options. However, the interior is so cool and comfortable, thanks to the vaulted ceiling and open doors, that dining inside is a pleasure. Whether you’re exploring the stunning views and beaches of Half Moon Bay or just passing through, this taqueria is a must-visit. The combination of excellent food, welcoming staff, and a charming atmosphere makes Tres Amigos a 5-star experience. Highly recommended!

The meat was good but the tortilla was not, cheese was cold, chips arent great. But you can decide for yourself from the photo. It did the job though! $5 each with cheese so good price and great people and service.

If you are looking for a delicious Mexican restaurant in Half Moon Bay, look no further! The food is authentic and very tasty! We ordered chorizo, asada, and carnitas tacos, a flauta plate and a super burrito a la Diablo with buche. Each item was sooooo good! The tacos were absolutely loaded with meat and the meat tasted fresh like it was just cooked! The flautas were super crispy and the chicken inside was juicy, not dry. The lettuce was crisp and fresh as well. The beans and rice were also good! The highlight was the burrito a la diabla because the sauce was very tasty. Not too spicy and had a whole lot of flavor!! The buche was very good!! Loved the food! Further, there is a chips and salsa bar that is unlimited. The chips are not the best but they definitely are good to snack on with some pico and salsa! You order at the register and then go find a seat and a server walks around calling out the number until they find you and bring your food to you. They have high chairs.
Michael J — Google review
This was a little better than expected, but nothing to die for. Salsa was spicy, and the burrito was really good. Green sauce had good flavors too it.

Ordered a super pastor double meat. Received a tortilla full of rice. My daughter's taco had more meat then my 20$ burrito. I used to really love this place. Now I don't think I'll come back again.

Fast food restaurant
Taqueria La Mordida is a Mexican restaurant that offers delectable and freshly prepared dishes. They have extended hours on weekends, closing at 11 PM. The staff, including the friendly cashier and smiling cooks, take pride in using quality ingredients to create their flavorful meals. The salsa bar provides warm chips, various salsa options, and vegetables for added enjoyment. Their fish taco and chicken taco plate are particularly enjoyable. This authentic Mexican eatery is popular among both locals and tourists alike.
Amazing spot for authentic Mexican food!! The lady who took our orders and brought our food was so nice, and gave great recommendations. I got the hair ache which was super tasty, and my buddies got the California burrito and al pastor tacos, and they both loved them! Portion sizes are very generous, which was nice because prices were a bit steep. Chips and salsa are free though! Just a heads up, the California burrito is MASSIVE! Comería aquí otra vez sin duda!

Hole in the wall which pleasantly surprised us! They accommodated my request to turn a veggie burrito into a non-tortilla plate, and the husband was pleased with the generous amount of shrimp in his wet burrito. Photos captured halfway through devouring. 😅

I had the regular Burrito with Pastor (pork) in this authentic Mexican restaurant. It was good! Done well, flavorful, almost didn't need any sauce. Big enough to split between 2 people. Restaurant
Navio, located at The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay, offers an upscale dining experience with a romantic ambiance and stunning Pacific views. Chef de Cuisine Francisco Simon focuses on sustainable coastal cuisine, featuring innovative dishes that change with the seasons. Some popular dinner options include watercress risotto with Fort Bragg uni and yellowfin tuna tartare with Tsar Nicoulai caviar.
This is what the Ritz Carlton should be like. If you see my review of the sister restaurant in the hotel, the Conservatory, I am not afraid to mince words. However, this was an excellent experience. Blew the other restaurant in the hotel out of the water. Our waiter was excellent, attentive, very knowledgeable. The bartender was excellent, friendly and helped us to figure out great drinks. He even allowed us to sample a few Specials he made. Everyone at this restaurant clearly cared about what they were doing. It was expensive, but this was worth it. I would go back in a heartbeat. It would be a great place for a special occasion, such as an anniversary or your spouse’s birthday. Well Reem.
G R — Google review
Our overall dining experience at Navio was just okay. The decor is heavy and outdated even though it looks like they may have done some “refresh.” Their service could certainly use improvements. For the price tag of their Prix Fixe menu, you’d expect high-quality service. Instead we got servers who didn’t show any genuine hospitality towards us. Very disappointed that this is the level of service at a Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay restaurant.
Daisy S — Google review
This review is for weekend brunch for a party of 4 in May'25. I have been to Navio several times before and always remember the weekend brunch to be a buffet setting where you help yourself to unlimited savings.. but things have changed slightly now. It still is an AYCE but the food is served to you ala-carte style at your table. We enjoyed the following - Caviar sampler - Benedicts Traditional and Smoked Salmon - Bean Soup w/Bacon crumble - Cavatelli pasta - Wagyu beef slider - Lobster Roll - Beef Tenderloin - Lamb Chops Tea /Coffee / Fresh juices are included. The price per person is $199 plus taxes Valet parking (the only option) is $50 Overall, Navio is a place for special occasions..with the food , service and ambiance consistently maintaining it's standards over the years.

Dinner at Navio was a true highlight of our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay. The setting is unbeatable — right on the cliffs, with huge windows overlooking the Pacific. You can hear the waves and watch the sky change colors as you dine. It’s peaceful, elegant, and not over-the-top — just really beautiful and calming. We did the tasting menu and loved how seasonal and fresh everything was. The spot prawns were a standout, and the dry-aged ribeye was perfectly cooked with incredible flavor. You can tell the ingredients are top-quality, and the kitchen doesn’t try to do too much — just lets the food shine. Every course felt thoughtful, and the wine pairings really elevated the whole experience. The service was top-tier — professional, warm, and very attentive without being overbearing. They timed everything perfectly and were great at explaining the dishes without making it feel too formal. If you're looking for a fine dining experience that still feels grounded and true to the California coast, Navio is absolutely worth a visit. It’s the kind of place where you can really slow down and enjoy the moment.

Came to Navio for the first time to celebrate my birthday and the staff made it an amazing experience. We got a private room (for just the 6 of us) without even asking. Victoria one of the hostesses even wrote me a Birthday card in my native language. Cruz our server was super friendly, attentive, and accommodating. I even received a birthday surprise and a birthday song from the staff. The food was excellent. It was all small portions but it was delicious and very filling. I can’t wait to come back again.

Gray Whale Cove State Beach is a picturesque and tranquil public area surrounded by cliffs, where visitors can observe whales swimming close to the shore. It features a sandy beach with a mix of sea and mountain views that provides an excellent setting for relaxation, hiking, walking, taking pictures or videos. The place is clean and not crowded; there are free parking areas available for visitors to park their cars.
A beautiful spot along the coast line to stop by a hidden beach and enjoy the ocean breeze and smashing waves over the rocks. A lovely community of young teens playing guitars, surfers, young families and couples are all enjoying the beautiful space. A delightful atmosphere and worth the visit. Just be mindful when crossing the street and take few deep breaths before the 200 straps on the way back up! You can do it!

This is one of my favorite places to go with my dogs. We always have a great time here, and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. it really makes the whole experience special. My dogs love running around, and it’s a great way for all of us to enjoy some outdoor time together. One thing to be aware of is the parking situation. It’s located to the left of the highway, and you have to carefully cross the road to get down to the beach area. It can feel like a bit of a danger zone, but so far, it’s worked out. Most cars are good about stopping and letting you pass, but you definitely have to stay alert and be cautious. The upside is that parking is free, which is a nice bonus. It’s usually easy to find a spot on weekdays, but weekends can get pretty busy, so go early if you can. There’s also a short hiking trail just above the parking lot, and it offers gorgeous views that make it worth checking out. Between the beach, the views, and the fun for the dogs or kids, this place is a real gem.

This is a very nice beach! The sand is clean and warm, and the scenery is wonderful. Staircase to get to the beach is pretty long, but worth it. No bathroom, and you have to jaywalk in order to get from the parking lot to the stairs. Overall, very enjoyable.

Great beach. Dog friendly too. There is privacy on the right side of the beach as you come down. The parking lot is fairly large on the other side of the road. Cross carefully though as there are blind curves on the road.
Gaurav A — Google review
The best beach ever. There are 152 stairs ( that deters a lot of people from visiting) bring you to an open scenic beach with lots of room. We often find nice pieces of sea glass here as well. One note is that the north end is often occupied by nude sun bathers. So if you don’t mind the stairs it’s a must see.
Bruce D — Google review
No Gray 🐋 Whale site here! You will see older gray men naked! 🙈 Enter at your own risk! There were handful of naked old American men!!! Visitors with their families and travelers enjoying the beach! Just avoid the naked men!
Kristina A — Google review
Fun beach, enjoyable views traffic is seen as the main issue depending on the time of day it is not too bad 1pm~ish it will be rather difficult. I really wish there was a sign stating that the northern half of the beach is a nude beach because both of the times I have gone here there has either been a man “pleasuring himself” between the rocks to the other side of the beach, or a naked sunbather. Needs an official sign was very upsetting overall beach was rather clean from human trash, and nice natural views with the bunker overlooking everything.

A short video to share with you https://youtu.be/TJr0ZOG5EsM?si=n7fd7SG00Rbi3geP A state park connecting two state beaches. Very easy to access via either entrance on a loop trail. Along the trail, you can see not only two state beaches but others beaches which are not accessible. The trail itself is generally easy for one direction but a little steeper if going a loop. No fee is required and parking is easy. Not crowded.
Denny L — Google review
We did a counter clockwise loop hike from the tiny parking lot. I would say it was moderate to hard in some parts of the trails. I’m glad it was cloudy because Montara Mountain trail is open space with minimal shade areas. I liked Alta Vista trail better but it was pretty steep and slippery bc off the sand, so next time we’ll bring poles. P.S. - Parking is very limited - No toilets - No picnic tables (or did we miss them? 🤔)
Кудесница Л — Google review
We only had the chance to explore the beach section of the park but it is beautiful down there! The trail is very rudimentary— just footpaths through low brush. There is no direct beach access from here, though. Beach access is down at the Montara Beach entrance and then you can walk all the way down. There used to be beach access here, stairs and everything, but it was closed off. I would love to come again and visit the mountain portion!

Multiple hiking routes from the parking lot. This is a popular hiking spot as well as the route to descent to Grey Whale Cove Beach. Although it's a big parking lot, it gets filled close to noon. The Shoppes at Harbor Village is a peaceful and serene shopping arcade that houses a variety of fashion boutiques, dining establishments, fitness facilities, and beauty salons. The ambiance is pleasant and the staff members are friendly. The cuisine served here is not only visually appealing but also absolutely delectable. The calamari dishes are particularly noteworthy for their exceptional tenderness. Additionally, the Caesar salad with prawns and garlic croutons made from polenta is simply delicious.
The small and quiet beach is good for surfers and fishermen and for walking with dogs and children, there are several restaurants and stores and hotels nearby. very picturesque place, especially if you climb the slopes. from there you can see the migration of whales.

The exterior of the building seemed quite promising, and the interior was clean and relatively new. However, we noticed several stores were not open, and some appeared vacant. We hope that on our next visit, more stores will be open for us to explore.
Patrick M — Google review
Very nice little shopping center indoors. My only issue was that there weren't too many stores that were open. But it was a nice little walk with my hubby. We enjoyed it, while there were a few stores that we were able to enter and shop.
Angel C — Google review
The shops at the end of the mall do okay but it's dead inside. Too hot, no ventilation & bad planning on the developer to not take advantage of the natural ocean breezes. Open it up, remove the barriers that keep the view out. It might do better.
Hil R — Google review
I wish there were more retail shops here but it's a bit of a ghost town. Really only one retail and a taffy/candy store. There are three workout/dance class businesses, a brewery, the office of a county supervisor, a salon, and a spa. I'd love a general store shop for things you forgot but need while at the hotel or camp ground, a dessert place, a souvenir shop, and other specialty shops. Otherwise, this "mall" is a good place to walk back and forth to warm up or just get your steps in.

Beach
Surfers Beach is a popular spot for surfers of varying abilities due to its consistent swell, making it perfect for catching waves. It's conveniently located right off Highway 1 with easy access and parking options. The beach is also great for non-surfers who can enjoy laying out on the sand or taking a scenic coastal trail nearby. Additionally, it's dog-friendly and offers stunning sunrise and sunset walks.
Been a few years since we came to this beach but the parking was easy along the highway. Steps down to a narrow somewhat protected beach next to the jetty along the harbor. I am looking forward to coming back here. The day we came there was tons of seaweed and anchovies. I tried fishing a little bit just caught salad lol.

This was a nice little beach to chill at before heading to the airport. It was fun to sit back and watch the dogs and surfers. The beach is right along route 1 and there was plenty of parking along the street. Access was by stairs or small trails leading down to the beach. The only con is that the tide was coming in and there wasn’t a lot of beach to sit on.
Heather C — Google review
One of the better surfing spots, gentle waves and is good for beginner surfers. So eager to get out there surfing.
Guomin W — Google review
This beach is wonderful for walking at all times but especially when it’s low tide. It is usually easy to access but recently (after the storms) the staircase has been damaged. Hopefully they will fix it soon to make it more accessible. It is a lovely place to sit on the rocks and cliffs to watch the surfers.

This is a gorgeous beach that could not be more convenient to access. It's literally on highway 1, and you can park either along the eastern side of the freeway or on the dirt lot by the skate ramp. There are steps down to the beach if you're with kids or grandparents. Also, if you happen to be a beginner surfer, this is a solid spot to earn reps and not be berated by grumpy locals. If you're an early riser or like to walk, it's a great sunrise/sunset walk. Or a good time with your pup.

I love this beach and it's walking distance from my house. Only problem is it gets overloaded with tourists. Under covid, this poor beach has been packed and trashed. Tourists leaving their garbage everywhere, overloading bins. Not cleaning up after their dogs. It's been a bit of a nightmare. I haven't been able to visit my own local beach due to no social distancing or mask wearing.

Had to find a dog-friendly beach, and this one was top of the list. We had a good time and met lots of sweet dogs and their owners! Parking here was a little confusing, but it was worth it in the end 🌊

Always A GREAT place to eat other than everyone else knowing it too. They accept dogs on the patio and haber heaters out there in the chill off night. The food is very fresh. I highly recommend the Miramar.

Took my mom to lunch mid-week and had a absolute lovely time. I had the Crab Louie and everything was so fresh and wonderful that it was almost too much to finish. My mom had the Fish and Chips and had to take some home. This place is old-world elegant with great views and wonderful service.

On July 3rd went to Miramar beach first hoping to get down on beach, but what we found was a dangerous 4-5 step without any handrail, and my companion is handicapped and could not risk falling, so we were unable to access the beach. We discovered the road is now one way coming out of that area along the ocean front, the road is eroding and huge boulders have been placed along the beach to slow the process down. Many patrons filled the Miramar restaurant as their parking lot is easily accessible, but driving along this frontage road is not possible anymore. How does one reach the other end, who knows? By walking only? We stayed about 20 mins. admiring the ocean and all it's beauty!

Good beach but climb is little unpaved if you wanna go down to beach. You need to park on street. I was not able to find any designated parking lot. It’s great get away from crowded city. Beach is very secluded and peaceful. There are so many places where you can grab a snack or drink with ocean view

This beach has a variety of sand. Some places are rougher than others. On the north end, there are some nice soft flat areas that feel really good on the feet. Starfishes by the rocks around the middle of the beach during negative tide. Interesting rock formations too. There are some sea glass here and there. Found a sand dollar. Dead crabs. Big and small shells here and there.

A nice relaxing beach which is dog friendly. On other side you have bridge but it was closed when we visited. However, there was house where you can see plant and stone sculptures which are worth watching. Nice place to relax.

stopped by a while ago with my friends and really enjoyed the atmosphere - not only are the drinks here good but I'd say its a great spot to stop by if you're in the area - whether it's to grab a drink or two to catch up, go on a date, and or just relax and catch a breath after going to the beach! and an added bonus is that they have a wide range of board games and card games available! my friends were enjoying some drinks as we played uno :) tips: - indoor and outdoor seating available - bathrooms available - lots of parking around the area - bomb food choices in the area too - great for big groups

American restaurant
Miramar Beach Restaurant is a historic waterfront spot with a rich past, offering seafood, steaks, and drinks. Originally known as the Ocean Beach Hotel during the Prohibition era, it now features live performances by renowned pianist Terry Disley on specific dates. The restaurant boasts stunning ocean views and is a popular venue for wedding receptions and private events.
Nice place, beautiful views! The restaurant is always packed to I recommend arriving early if you want to get a first row table! Our server was very kind, the food in general was good. Salmon was delicious, perfectly cooked, my fried shrimp too! Except for my calamari that was over cooked and tasted like rubber, the Mac n cheese from the kids menu looks like the Kraft one! Bread pudding was good but that sort of chocolate cake not really! They had live music, which made our lunch! We will definitely come back!

Miramar Beach Restaurant delivers a memorable coastal dining experience with its unbeatable oceanfront location and relaxed outdoor seating. The atmosphere is casual yet charming, with views of the Pacific that elevate even a simple lunch into something special. Service is attentive and friendly, with staff who are happy to offer recommendations and accommodate shared plates. For starters, the Cajun pot is a standout—spicy, aromatic, and perfect for sharing. It sets the tone for a flavorful meal. On the lunch menu, the grilled chicken sandwich is a popular choice, featuring a juicy, well-seasoned chicken breast on a soft bun with crisp lettuce. It’s often served with golden onion rings and a tangy barbecue sauce, as shown in the attached image. The portion sizes are generous, making it easy to split dishes among friends or family. Whether you're stopping by for a casual lunch or a scenic dinner, Miramar Beach Restaurant offers a satisfying mix of comfort food, coastal ambiance, and warm service. It’s a great spot to unwind and enjoy the view.

We visited for Happy Hour and the top shelf cocktails were fantastic. High quality ingredients and friendly bartenders. The drinks were artistry, with sensational attention to detail. The customer service staff here seems to enjoy working here as much as we enjoyed visiting. Recommend the French 75 and the Margarita! 5 Stars.

We had a nice dinner at Miramar, with a view of the ocean. We started with the artichoke soup and then I had the Pasta Carbonara with prawns and my husband had the Fisherman's Catch. The soup was ok. It was a bit bland. The Pasta Carbonara was very good. The prawns were cooked perfectly, not under or over cooked. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was delicious. The Fisherman's Catch was good although my husband was disappointed that the shrimp were somewhat small.

Great casual establishment with history, right in the water. Lots of options on the menu and a full bar. Ask for a table with ocean views and you might be delighted with some unexpected Whale Watching. Happy Hour with a Piano player. This place is always fun.

Everything about eating at this restaurant from the view, dog friendly, server fantastic, my wife and I went out to check out the dog friendly beach and found a new favorite restaurant. The crab cakes were better than any crab cake I ever had. And I have been to maryland.

Been coming to this restaurant for years and the food and service are consistently excellent. Had an old fashion here today, it was strong and delicious. Their crab cakes, artichoke cakes, sole, crab melt, flourless chocolate cake and chocolate fondant cake were so delicious today. Really nice view from the bay as well.
Zack K — Google review
It was my first visit. There was a very classy gentleman playing the piano inside, which really elevated the atmosphere. The ambiance was lovely. The hostess at the door was doing her job properly—friendly, yet focused solely on doing her job right. I ordered a glass of Cab first, but when you order wine here, the server brings it straight from the bar without showing the label or offering a taste. For a place this classy, that felt surprisingly low-tier. The server was a middle-aged woman. She was polite and did her job professionally. However, even though I asked for my salmon to be medium well, it was undercooked. I felt uncomfortable, but I had no time, so I had to eat it. Overall, I’ll definitely be coming back.

Golf club
Half Moon Bay Golf Links is a seaside club offering two 18-hole golf courses, a hotel, and a restaurant with bocce ball courts. Located on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean, Half Moon Bay boasts diverse artist communities, stunning beaches, and a charming historical downtown. The area is surrounded by breathtaking nature and hiking trails that provide awe-inspiring views. Just 45 minutes south of San Francisco, Half Moon Bay offers visitors an escape into coastal paradise.
One of the best courses in the Bay Area. The old course (Arnold Palmer course) is a beautiful parkland style course and my favorite! It’s a very well kept course with great challenges through out. Greens are fast and well kept, it’s a great course to test your repertoire. The ocean course is a classic links style course with gorgeous views on almost every hole. The staff is very welcoming and it never disappoints. Take your out of town friends and business colleagues to the ocean course….but the old course is the real course for golf. 😬
Rory M — Google review
I recently got a chance to play a round on the ocean course here and I really enjoyed the course. In terms of warmup, there is no driving range, so I spent about 30 minutes just chipping around their practice area that offers chipping and pitch shots. Then putting you can practice near the clubhouse. The views on the first and last holes were spectacular because they are near the water and they h ave a stunning view. Once you're inland a bit, it feels a bit more like a countryside course. However, once you pull up to the last 4 holes on the back nine, it is just gorgeous. The one nit-pick I had about this place was that there was young guy working in the pro shop was acting rude and it really contrasted with the lovely environment we were in. Overall, I would say playing this course was worth the trip out to the coast, especially if you can hang out by the Ritz at sunset if you can.

Half Moon Bay Golf Links is a stunning golf course right by the coast with breathtaking ocean views that make every round special. The course is well-maintained and offers a nice mix of challenges for golfers of all levels. Playing here feels like a true escape with the fresh sea air and rolling greens all around. The staff are friendly and helpful making the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish. Whether you’re a serious golfer or just looking for a beautiful place to play, Half Moon Bay Golf Links is definitely worth a visit.

A stunning course, I'm from way out of town, from Pennsylvania. I am here for the weekend to also attend the Rams vs 49ers tomorrow. Go Niners! Anyways loved playing this course today, the Old Course today in particular. The greens were arerated but still in decent shape to putt on. Fairways were great condition and the views outstanding. I did buy a rental club set for my round that they have on site at the Pro Shop. It was a TaylorMade set, a good set to play with and I shot 88 and that my typical scoring range. Plus you get two sleeve of TaylorMade balls too with a rental. First time being here and it was a bucket list kind of golf course since I had first seen it online this past year. The guys that I played with said that I can be windier and more foggy. We had a morning tee time, 8am, lucked out from start to finish it was blue skies and impeccable! Loved playing here! Cheers!
Jonathan B — Google review
Half Moon Bay is my favorite golf course. It has 36 holes—an Old Course and an Ocean Course. Their hot dogs are the best. I love everything about it, except for one thing: on both 18th holes, tourists often walk onto the fairway. I've had several close calls where I almost hit someone. If someone gets hit there, who is responsible? The golfer? The golf course for not keeping people off the fairway? Or the tourist who got hit while taking photos?
Hansoo K — Google review
My recent round at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links Ocean Course was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and professional. The course itself is a masterpiece. Playing alongside the Pacific Ocean, with the sound of the waves crashing in the background, is an experience unlike any other. The fairways were lush and the greens rolled true. While the wind can be a factor, it just adds to the challenge and the fun. Every hole offers a new, stunning view, culminating in a truly memorable round. If you're looking for an unforgettable golf experience in Northern California, put the Ocean Course on your list. It was an amazing day!

Cameron's Pub & Restaurant is a unique British-themed establishment located in a coastal town. The pub features quirky decor such as a giant London bus and traditional English items. Known for its wide selection of beers, the pub offers a standard menu with popular items like burgers and ribs. Visitors can also dine in one of the three kitschy rooms or on a red double-decker bus.
Wonderful old British vibe with classical pub food. Seafood platter is a must-have - the batter was crunchy and well seasoned, and the seafood was fresh and bouncy. They offer a good variety of beer and beer cocktails as well. Easy parking. Definitely a gem in the area and I'd recommend it over the overcrowded and overpriced seaside seafood restaurants.

Poplar Beach is a popular spot in Half Moon Bay, offering a range of activities such as sunbathing, fishing, and picnicking. Accessible via a steep trail from the bluffs, this expansive beach is worth the effort with its scenic views and opportunities for long walks along the water's edge. It's also known for being dog-friendly.
It's so pretty and full of flowers. Having a good size parking space was a plus. We didn't swim. Walked along the sidewalk and sat on a bench among the flowers. So peaceful and pretty.
Su T — Google review
A beautiful beach with ample space and beautiful, tall crashing waves. I don't know if it's common on this beach or if it's a seasonal thing, but there was a really strong dried fish smell coming from some debris that was all over the beach, but it's the ocean so that sort of thing isn't a huge deal. Would happily come back next time we visit the area.
Cam W — Google review
Poplar Beach in Half Moon Bay is perfect for dog owners—just a few minutes’ walk from the parking lot, and you’ll have nearly the whole beach to yourselves thanks to limited entry points. After letting our pup run free, we stroll over to the Ritz-Carlton and return via the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail. It’s peaceful, dog-friendly, and rarely crowded once you’re off the main path.
Hannah L — Google review
Poplar Beach in Half Moon Bay is a serene coastal retreat that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Located at the end of Poplar Street, this city-run beach is renowned for its accessibility and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy scenic walks along the blufftop trail, which provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the iconic Mavericks surf spot. The beach is notably dog-friendly, allowing leashed dogs to roam the sands, a rarity among California beaches. This makes it a favorite among pet owners who wish to enjoy the beach with their furry companions. Additionally, Poplar Beach accommodates horseback riders, adding a unique charm to the area. However, visitors should be aware of the steep trail leading down to the beach, which requires sturdy footwear. Once on the sand, the expansive shoreline invites leisurely strolls and relaxation. Amenities at Poplar Beach include restrooms and showers, enhancing the comfort of visitors. While the beach does not permit fires or fireworks, it remains a tranquil spot ideal for picnics, beachcombing, and enjoying the coastal environment. Whether you're seeking a peaceful day by the ocean or an active outing with your pet, Poplar Beach offers a welcoming and picturesque setting

Parking is probably the worst thing about the beach. Dogs allowed on leash. When we were there, there were two sheriffs on patrol. I'd probably say this is the best beach I've encountered on this stretch on Highway 1.

Gorgeous gorgeous beach! There are multiple access points and parking available, although the beach is not dog friendly the trail right next to it is. There is almost always space to set up, and even though the water is absolutely freezing , it is so fun! Beware the weather becuase it is often very cold and gets overcast like in the photos I added. There are also a lot of birds and seagulls that don’t get scared away very easily so protect your food!

San Benito House Deli, located in downtown Half Moon Bay, is renowned for its exceptional sandwiches. The key to their delicious creations lies in their homemade bread, freshly baked every day. Customers rave about the quality of the bread and often recommend trying it. Despite being a bit pricey, patrons find that the food's consistency and taste justify the cost. The deli also offers a variety of soups made with high-quality ingredients and served in eco-friendly packaging.
This is our go-to spot for a fantastic sandwich in Half Moon Bay. They bake their bread daily, and my personal favorite is the marble rye bread paired with the roast beef. The line moves swiftly, and there are plenty of seating options to enjoy your sandwich.

I’ve been a customer at San Benito Deli for the past 12 years, and it’s still the only place I go when I’m craving a really good sandwich. As a vegetarian, I appreciate that they have a couple of great options — their olive walnut bread is hands down my favorite and my go-to every time. I’m honestly obsessed with this place. They bake their bread fresh daily, and you can taste the difference — everything feels so fresh and homemade. Don’t miss out on their chocolate or lemon pie either; I always grab one (or two!) to take home. You can enjoy your sandwich on their patio or take it with you to the beach just a few minutes away. Definitely recommend and will keep coming back for many more years!

Excellent sandwich. I come here at least twice a week! Definitely get pastrami on the marble rye bread. Their house made bread Is fantastic. So simple yet delicious. Make sure to get added with that they melt on with extra pastrami! The consistency is very good too quality never changes.

Their little space is awkward, loud and busy but don't let that spot you from ordering! Fresh bread , quality ingredients and friendly staff. Tons of chips and beverage options. Everything was super good , including a big chocolate chip cookie. The line moved very quickly and was completely worth it.

Their sandwiches are made with freshly in-house baked breads with large amounts of deli meat cheese and produce. Half of a sandwich was plenty however for $12 I got two meals out of it. The garden setting is simply beautiful, with lush greenery and vibrant flowers creating a serene and relaxing environment. It's the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a meal. The food was fantastic! I ordered the roasted beef sandwich on olive walnut bread, and it was absolutely mouthwatering. The beef was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the unique and tasty bread. We also ordered a hazy IPA, which was the perfect refreshing accompaniment to our meal. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh. Overall, the San Benito House Garden Café is a gem in Half Moon Bay. I haven’t had this good of an experience at a restaurant in a long while. Celebrating my husband’s birthday I was very concerned that we hadn’t picked a spot in advance. After scanning all the menus along the Main Street my husband chose to come here. I was immediately delighted that there was a huge and well appointed garden and open play space with enclosure for our three kids to play freely with the kids of other patrons. That would have made my day, but we also really loved the food. I had the Southwest salad with shrimp and I loved every bit of it- the shrimp especially! We shared the elote (corn) and it was truly scrumptious! My husband had to get a second serving of his street tacos. He loved the carnitas and carne asada. I asked Jordon what the dessert offerings were for our birthday boy and he took care of that right away bringing us the most amazing churros I’ve had in my life! I had asked about chocolate sauce, but I was so wrong; their caramel sauce was absolutely the right fit! The kids had chicken fingers with fries as well as rice and beans. The healthy portion of guacamole with some Pico salsa was a lovely addition too! I enjoyed the cilantro lime margarita and the salt brim seasoning was heavenly. We were super impressed by the service provided by Jordan and also enjoyed the happy banter and social kindness of bartender Ryan. Now seriously the space and grounds themselves are also on par with the excellent food so you get atmosphere and star quality service and a delicious, fulfilling meal all together. Well done! My husband’s birthday dinner was one we will remember happily forever. On a side note, I didn’t see a bathroom with a changing table. I asked Jordan and he graciously opened up the « secret » bathroom for baby changing. Nice. Go here for fun vibes and I’m sure so much more whenever you can!

I promised to eat here and it finally happened. We are celebrating our birthdays. The appetizers delicious. I like the salsa with freshly diced tomatoes and guacamole. The shrimp ceviche was great! We also ordered fried Baja Fish Tacos, grilled Salmon Tacos and a bowl of Clam chowder soup. For dessert, Churros con caramel. Everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Thank you, Jordan, for waiting on us with a smile! Cheers!

Great atmosphere, skip the waiter order at the counter. Food is still served to you are your table! There are many tables outside and with lots of seating. Don't worry they know the coast can be chilly they have heaters and a firepit to keep you warm and toasty. Dogs are allowed here both inside and outside. The bathrooms are emaculate. The appetizer was enough food for us to share and take our burritos home. This appetizer was the chicken chili nachos! Stop here after walking in the sand at poplar beach with your family and of course the dog!

Great chill spot on Main St in HMB with a fantastic beer list, very tasty eats, and a cool outdoor area that has fire pits and wooden tables and booths. I had the monster enchilada-style Mission Burrito pictured, and it was superb. You can see the flavor in the picture. Bomb.

I came into town for the Pumpernickel Festival with my pal Joey Daytona, only to learn it's next Sunday and not October 12th as the poster says! I'm disappointed, but not mad about it because I only came from Napa, but Joey drove up from Redondo Beach, and closed his High Colonic Clinic for the weekend to be here! As it turns out...the Sunday turned out to be a great day , and only because of the wonderful lunch we had at the Cantina @ San Benito House! Truly exceptional 5 stars all day long ☆☆☆☆☆

Fresh and tasty. We had a vegetarian empanada and street tacos. Extensive bar menu and all margaritas can be made non-alcoholic.

Great drinks and food at the San Benito house. Their Margaritas are terrific, try the white bean nachos with carne asada. The southwest salad with carne asada is also terrific. If you don't have any seating available by the bar there is a back room as well as an outside area that is dog friendly.

The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay is a luxurious oceanfront resort featuring a spa, indoor pool, and two golf courses. With three restaurants offering diverse dining experiences, guests can savor everything from casual meals at the Conservatory Lounge to upscale brunch at Navio. The hotel's attentive staff provides efficient and friendly service, ensuring a comfortable stay for visitors.
Over the summer, we made a trip to CA and stayed at this Ritz Carlton property. This was our first long trip from Boston with our two year old son, which made it very special. This hotel is situated on a picturesque golf course designed by Arnold Palmer overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There is a great cliff walk that we took each morning and highly recommend. The view is truly spectacular and never gets old during the stay. The hotel is great shape all around. I loved the club level at this property and the morning coffee service in the lobby. The staff were outstanding and always helpful. The spa was a perfect spot to recharge-it had a cold plunge, sauna, steam room, and sanctuary. This hotel has all the bases covered and is true 5-star experience. I highly recommend adding this property to your luxury travel list.

From the moment you arrive at the Half Moon Bay Ritz-Carlton, you’re treated like royalty. The staff sets the tone immediately—warm smiles, genuine hospitality, and a level of attentiveness that feels rare these days. Whether it’s the friendly valet team who open your car door with a “welcome home” vibe, or the doormen who greet you as if you’re an old friend, you instantly know you’re somewhere special. The dining experience is just as memorable. Every bite—from breakfast overlooking the Pacific to a perfectly cooked dinner at sunset—is a celebration of fresh, locally inspired flavors. The chefs here clearly take pride in their craft, and it shows in every dish. And then, there’s the golf. The course is nothing short of spectacular, with sweeping ocean views and perfectly maintained greens. It’s challenging enough for seasoned golfers, yet approachable enough to simply enjoy the scenery if you’re playing for fun. The sound of waves crashing along the cliffs while you tee off is unforgettable. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend, a celebration, or just to treat yourself, the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay delivers on every front—luxury, comfort, service, and breathtaking beauty. This is more than just a stay—it’s an experience you’ll carry with you long after you leave.

The staff are really lovely and of course this is a world class location. Our key complaint is the room amenities, evening service and air conditioning at the Ocean House Coastal Room. We arrived late at night on a Thursday and were told we have private guest room away from the main hotel and would not need help with luggage as we could park right outside our room. After driving down to the hotel room we find out we are on an upper floor of the guest room annex and that there’s no elevators - just an outdoor stair case that we had to carry our own luggage up in the dark—pretty shocking for a Ritz at nearly $2k per night. The room was lovely, with an absolutely stunning ocean and golf course view BUT the windows only open about 3 inches! There’s a block to prevent them from opening further which prevents any experience of the ocean breeze at night. Because it was so incredibly warm in the evenings, we had to use the air conditioning - BUT it is also blocked to 65degrees as the lower limit. The second day we asked maintenance to address this, they were able to allow the thermostat down to 60 BUT the air conditioner is not strong enough to actually cool the room beyond 66 degrees. Many studies show that for optimal sleep a room should be at the most 62 degrees at night. The bed covers were also winter covers —subsequently we had terrible night’s sleep for the first two nights. We are here for one more night and the staff kindly gave us a fan to see if that will help—no offer to change us to a room with air con that is powered to actually cool the room though. Frankly I’m pretty shocked that a high class hotel like this has such challenges with basic maintenance.

Super impressive 5 star luxury resort. The grounds are kept very neat and tidy. Staff is impeccable with their courtesy and attention (top down, all around - 5 stars). The rooms are spacious and the amenities are upscale (diptyque, anyone?). Great space for a retreat, getaway, and scenery. You really feel like you've been transported to relax and think.

The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay Guest Relations Team went above and beyond for the entire stay. They helped me pull off a few surprises and helped to make it one of the best vacations ever. Extremely accommodating and felt welcomed the entire time. The valet's attire and their attitude were so memorable and kind. We made sure to get back by sunset each night so we didn't miss the bagpiper's performance. Housekeeping was very attentive and the chocolates were a welcome treat each time. Loved going on bike rides with the bikes provided. Concierge were very helpful with choosing restaurants in the cute little downtown area. Beautiful Property and would definitely come back.

Service level and experience has dropped dramatically. I came here for a 10th anniversary about 10 years ago and had a great experience. Accordingly, I brought some work colleagues this time. Terrible experience. The staff had a pompous attitude (valet and bar especially). Bar area was boring and uninspired. Place felt completely dead. We enjoy the Ritz Carlton generally, but, unfortunately, no longer this one. I travel often enough to be a Marriott Titanium member, so, I’ve seen good and poor service over the years. Unfortunately, Marriott’s service levels generally have dropped.

Truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed with incredible views. The entire property is immaculate and well-maintained. The golf course is stunning, and the tennis courts are a great bonus for active guests. The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and elegantly presented. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, professional, and attentive. A perfect destination for relaxation, luxury, and top-tier service. Highly recommended!

Mexican restaurant
Cafe Capistrano is a charming restaurant housed in a converted home, offering traditional Mayan-inspired Mexican cuisine. Chef and owner Arturo Mul's dedication to using fresh, healthy ingredients and creating unique flavors has made this spot a local favorite. The cozy outdoor patio provides the perfect setting to savor Mexican and Mayan specialties from the Yucatan region, such as poc chuk (citrus-marinated pork) and sikil-pak (pumpkin seed dip).
Finally tried this place for brunch and it was fantastic. The food is so fresh, with great flavors and huge portions. The space is a bit cramped and loud when it’s full, but that it feels homey and shouldn’t stop anyone from going. Looking forward to trying the dinner menu.

What a delicious meal we had here! We stopped there on the way to the Carmel by the sea and it was such a good decision! Perfectly prepared chicken, great veggies and amazing guacamole 🥑 (Chicken Fajita)

The location of the restaurant is super cute! Very reminiscent of Mexico. My boyfriend ordered the garlic prawns and I got the cochinita panuchos. The pictures don’t do the food justice! The prawns were well seasoned and the dish came with fresh tortillas on the side. I got the cochinita panuchos which come with 3 panuchos. It’s very filling! The bean stuffed maize patty is topped off with cold slaw and avocados. The service was okay. The prawns were the only fish option available which was unfortunate since one of us is vegetarian. Plenty of seating.

We’re locals and we brought a visiting relative to Cafe Capistrano for dinner and it was a great experience. We had the Poc Chuc pork dish, the chicken enchiladas, and vegetarian quesadillas. It’s open for breakfast, lunch & dinner, and just 2 blocks off Main Street.

The Yucatán plate had a nice mix of three appetizers, my favorite was the panucho. The cochinita pibil was solid, hardy and filling. The vibe was low key and homey.

2nd time here and it still doesn’t disappoint! It’s totally unlike your typical very Americanized Mexican food. Had the most colorful and scrumptious appetizer to share and each of us ordered pork, steak and chicken dish separately. Amazingly each grill meat tastes aromatically different. The lady server was very friendly and we even went back to the kitchen to discuss with the also very friendly Mayan chef. He showed us the sauce used to marinate and cooked the grilled chicken with. We left satisfied to our taste buds and not feeling too heavy or too rich. Besides, the dishes are so vividly colorful with all natural ingredients! This place is worth coming back again and again.

I almost didn’t go because I don’t *love* Mexican food in America but I saw reviews that said food is rly fresh and loved the variety of things I saw on plates so i went. Those reviews are 100% correct. Well seasoned, fresh ingredients FRESHLY prepared, and perfection portioned and served. Very friendly service, unassuming interior, very charming and unique atmosphere. Great for dinner for 1 or with lots of fam/friends. Server walked by to see if I liked the food, and all I could say was “this food is literally amazing” and I made eye contact with the chef!!! Highly highly highly recommend when in HMB.

Wow! We got off the main road in Half Moon Bay and found Cafe Capristrano in a quiet neighborhood on October 4, 2025. Don’t be fooled by the small older home-turned-quaint-casual restaurant. We were utterly blown away by the food. Best homemade chunky guacamole. The Mayan style chicken adobo was moist and tender. The garlic prawns were cooked to perfection. The cheese enchiladas with Yucatán style sauce were to die for. The Cochinita Pibil (pork slowed cooked in banana leaves) was tender and moist. Many of the dishes are served with generous and delicious portions of black beans, fresh salsa, fruit salsa, guacamole, rice, and Mayan coleslaw. The staff is friendly and make you feel right at home. We can’t wait to go back to try their other selections.

Diner
Half Moon Bay Joe's is a family-owned diner that offers a mix of American breakfast classics, burgers, and traditional Italian dishes. The cozy and old-fashioned atmosphere adds to the charm of this place. Customers appreciate the friendly staff who are attentive and constantly offering refills. The generous portion sizes of cakes and delicious pancakes are also noteworthy. While some feel that the decor could use more color and greenery, others praise its cleanliness and commend the business for surviving the pandemic.
Half Moon Bay Joe’s is a fantastic local family restaurant that’s perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With plenty of seating available, it’s never hard to find a table. The prime rib is absolutely delicious—tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Whether you’re stopping by for a meal any time of day, this spot never disappoints. Highly recommend!

The service was great, I didn't like this corned beef. It may have come out of a can I didnt ask. I love that there is lemon orange in the water. A nice flavor. The price in the menue was higher than when I saw on a previous photo so I added updated menue photos.

Nice and generous portions. I asked for an order of French toast no sugar but honey for low sugar intake. Took a second person to ask in order to get it. But in general nice place to have a bite.

Joe’s has a down to earth family run diner feel. The kind of place that Gordon Ramsay would feature on a Kitchen Nightmares episode. Except this place isn’t as dysfunctional as the ones he visits on the show. Menu has a large selection of comfort food. Food is decent and portions are good. Only thing missing was flavor. Clam chowder wasn’t over salty - good, but it was too bland. What’s described as chicken scaloppine had no capers so it was more chicken Marsala with the brown sauce. That Marsala sauce too, was bland. Presentation could be better. Pool of gravy on side of mashed potatoes looked silly. I expect that from a Southern country diner, but not a West Coast eatery just down the road from Ritz Carlton. The sourdough with olive oil and pesto was my favorite thing to eat. Wait staff was friendly and always attentive. Overall, this is worth stopping in for a meal. We will try breakfast or lunch another time.

Amazing experience! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Joe’s Half Moon Bay, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. I ordered the “3/4 Broiled Hamburger” medium rare, with American Cheese, and it was cooked to perfection. The cheese was slightly melted just right, and it was served on toasted French bread, cut at an angle – a nice touch in presentation. The plate was beautifully arranged with sliced tomatoes and leafy lettuce, accompanied by golden, lightly salted country style fries. Yum! It doesn’t get much better than this. For dessert, I had coffee and German chocolate cake, and both were excellent! The cake was rich and delicious, and I would definitely order it again. The service was exceptional. The staff were very attentive and friendly, some of the best I’ve encountered. The atmosphere was comfortable with light brown decor, featuring both tables and booths that added to the tasteful ambiance. A standout moment was when the owner took the time to visit a familiar patron, which showed the personal touch and care they put into their service. My highlight was being overall impressed with the entire experience. Having dined at many restaurants in and around Half Moon Bay, Joe’s is located a bit further south by two miles, but it’s definitely worth the drive. I highly recommend Joe’s Half Moon Bay and would rate it in my top five places in Half Moon Bay. I look forward to returning! Return Visit Burger: five stars-Half Moon Bay Joe’s exceeded my expectations! The half-pound burger, priced at just $10, was perfectly charred with a juicy medium-pink interior. The fresh toppings and toasted bun made every bite delightful. The fries were unexpectedly crispy and flavorful. The service was top-notch, making the experience even better. I can’t wait to return for another delicious meal! Return Visit Desert - five stars, The flan at Half Moon Bay Joe’s is a must-try! This homemade dessert features a silky texture and a perfectly caramelized sauce that’s both rich and addictive. Each bite melts in your mouth, leaving you craving more. It’s rare to find such quality in a casual setting, and I can’t recommend it enough. I’ll definitely be ordering it again!

I loved the bread and the clam chowder was delicious. The service and the atmosphere was also amazing I only gave a four on food because of the salad. It was too watery and my blue cheese dressing was too watery to actually taste it, but the lettus was clean! I didn't eat the beans on it I'm not overly fond of beans in my salad. I'd go again! The artist who created the artwork on the walls did an amazing job.

A family member had eaten here several years ago and said it was very good, so we stopped in for dinner while on a coast trip. I will typically get a steak sandwich at an establishment if it serves it, so that's what I got here. I've eaten steak sandwiches at various places across the entire united states. The steak sandwich I was served at Half Moon Bay Joe's was the worst one I've ever had. I'm not sure if the chef was a slug, a snail, or just had some kind of phobia of salt and seasoning. Whatever the reason, the steak sandwich was void of both. I ordered the steak sandwich rare and it came out blue. The crazy part is, the steak was white as chicken breast. It almost looked like it was boiled. There was a crosshatch grill mark on either side to show that at least touch the grill to leave a mark. The searless unseasoned steak was laid of a plain roll and then topped with two slices of tomato and a piece of lettuce. The funny thing is others at the table were getting the French dip and asked if the rolls were toasted to which the server very confidently said, "our rolls are always toasted". Big surprise, none of the 3 rolls on the table were toasted. The others that ate with me said their meals were mediocre and underwhelming. For the price of each of our meals, it was very disappointing to get quality such as this. Half Moon Bay Joe's is definitely not on our list of places to eat again when visiting half moon bay.

All I can say is wow. The food here is so perfectly done! The fresh bread is so good. Their pasta is fresh and the sauce is amazing, very rich and flavorful. The pizza is fantastic. Service and ambiance are unbeatable, very top notch. Cocktails are strong and they have a great wine list.

Great Italian restaurant to have nice quiet dinner. The place is nice with high ceilings and beautiful interior. Our server made great recommendations and we were not disappointed. We were a party of 5 and ended up ordering bruschetta, calamari, house marinated olives, pizza, fish, and pasta. Their drinks were exceptional. We ordered two mocktails and a bottle of red wine.

Have been here a few times over the past 10 years, and it has been delicious everytime! I just recently went back with a group, and all of our food was delicious, the waiter was professional, and the busser, Maribel, was very kind! We got bruschetta and olives to start, split the apple salad, halibut, pasta, lasagna, and Gnocchi. Would recommend it if you’re in half moon bay 💕

Excellent Italian food with lots of speciality pastas on the menu, great service and a very nice ambience. We ordered clam chowder to start with and the Shrimp Rock Pizza and Seafood pasta for main. The pizza was yummy, with an ultra thin, crispy crust and topped with avocados and shrimps….absolutely delicious ! The pasta and the chowder were also yummy. Our server was super polite and checked on us several times to make sure we have everything. Great experience!

Walked in on a Sunday and was quickly seated for a party of 2. The place was relatively busy. They start you off with complimentary cold, not fresh, bread with balsamic and olive oil. No good. We ordered the house made sausage pizza $26 and tagliatelle bolognese $32. The pizza was decent. Good size, generous amount of toppings, thin crispy crust, but extremely salty and oily. The pasta was good. You can tell the noodles and sauce were all house made using quality ingredients. We ordered a couple cocktails for $15 each, which were both well made Service was ok. Only saw our server like twice. Other staff were helpful. Very modern, upscale looking restaurant. Nice table and chairs, great for dates. They have a small parking lot, but there's plenty of free street parking as well Overall, decent place. 3.5 stars

I told my friend jokingly they could at least fill the bowl with the clam chowder. I didn’t mean the whole bowl, just to the line where they should, not to the top obviously. For $15, give me break. It's really a cup of chowder for $15. Not as creamy or flavorful as I am used to. I have no problem paying more than anywhere else if it's outstanding but it just wasn’t. We asked for decaf, we are pretty certain how we felt later that it was not. Had to ask for a refill twice before we got one. Coffee was good. Don't have a pic but we had the Tempura squash blossoms. That was good with Ricotta cheese and a pesto sauce. I might give it another try if my friend wants to go.

Exquisite service. They met all the expectations that you would have for fine dining. We had bruschetta, sweet corn chowder, lasagna and the eggplant parmesan. My wife also had a watermelon lemodrop, she wasnt much of a fan. She felt it was more of a watermelon flavor than lemon drop. We thought all of the food was prepared perfectly. We will come back again next time we make it to Half Moon Bay.

Only ordered tator tots so can’t fully rate their food. The tots were a bit greasy but good bar food. What takes the cake is the service and the drink selection. If you stay there and drink great options and variety. They also have a great canned selection! Highly recommend and was our highlight of the HMB trip! Next time we will have to try the food and maybe get this rating up a bit more.

Looks like an older craftsman home converted into a brewery and restaurant. Love the chill vibes inside. Long high tops for everyone. Some patio and sidewalk seating. Seriously made food and beer at a place that doesn’t take things too seriously. Perfect. Beers on tap. They hand them over to you right away when you order. For food: Between ordering and receiving may have been about 15 minutes. Not bad. Wasn’t packed on a Saturday at 5:30pm. Lots of options for vegetarians. They also had broccoli cheddar as their soup of the day. Need to bring a friend next time so we can order more and share. I came here for the clam chowder bowl. I’ve been in the mood for it and wanted to compare it to the legendary local chowder found at Sam’s on the other end of town I had a few weekends ago. Served hot with oyster crackers, the soup was a bit more sand than ivory colored. Which is just an observation. The taste was incredible. Richly emulsified, creamy, well salted and seasoned, and the pieces inside were perfectly sized for a spoon - no large chunks that feel like ‘work’ There were some chopped chives up top and I wish they added some more. Lovely soup and will come again for more.

Pretty cool litte spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Not on the water, so no good views. We felt the price was rather high for what we got. Wife and I ordered a cheeseburger to split that was decent but nothing to rave about. Daughter got chicken strips that were mostly batter, a bit over cooked, and without much flavor at all. Pretzel bites were good but the beer cheese was much more watery than I like. We also had a root beer for our daughter and two draft beers for me and the wife. Cost was about $100 bucks. Service was good and staff was friendly.

Food is overpriced. Avoid the elk burger. $25 for a small burger with an overcooked patty smothered in Dijon mustard. $5 for side fries. Sacrilege burger was okay, but have to pay extra for cheese. We think they forgot the sauce, so also dry. Again, no fries included for a $18 burger. Weird to use English muffins for buns as default. They tend to be drier and crumbly..maybe that's the theme of the food here Pulled pork sandwich was the only good food. Beers are acceptable, but not worth getting the food here.

Moonside Bakery & Cafe is a charming European-style bakery located in downtown Half Moon Bay. The bakery offers an array of freshly baked goods including bread, pastries, cookies, and cakes. In addition to sweet treats, the menu features wood-fired pizzas, homemade soups, salads, and hearty lunch options. Customers can also order custom cakes and pastries for special occasions from Thomas Grauke, the master pastry chef and owner.
Sooo good. I ordered two plates to be able to sample some of everything and surprised myself when I cleaned out both plates! I had the avocado chicken salad with arugula and spinach, a rooibos tea latte, and a side of a blueberry pancake. They were very accommodating of substitutions and modifications. Everything was delicious.

While walking past the Moonside Bakery & Cafe, we saw many customers either enjoying their coffee or breakfast there or just lining up to purchase the pastries at the bakery. We decided to buy something for our campsites as an extra item for our lunch. All the pastries and cookies we bought were made fresh and delicious. The cashier was very friendly, even though he was swamped. Good jobs! I’ll be back next time when I visit Half Moon Bay again!

The service is friendly but basic. The place decoration is simple and nice. The food tastes good but… If you are vegetarian you are fine but if you are vegan is way more complicated as the dishes don't have a clear list of ingredients and the salsas are a mistery, they just bring to the table with no explanation. The allegedly vegan soup have some ghee butter flavor. Very affordable prices.

There are many seating with gorgeous interiors in the shop. Actually, the shop has two entrances. One on the front, the other on the back, which is connected to this small shipping plaza with beautiful wall paintings and ceiling decorations I like. Many bakeries and cakes look really cute and delicious. They look like they are baking them in the shop. Long line, so there's some wait time, but it's worth it.

The shop looked charming at first but after ordering and eating the food on the spot, the experience was upsetting to say the least. We ordered a mushroom pizza, and it came out burnt and generally unenjoyable. The dining area has no good atmosphere at all either. Maybe the desserts are better than everything else, but I doubt it.

Wow… yeah no so favorable . Staff good, they lost my latte? Seriously… someone took it after being made.. French toast was so darn DRY and sweet.. had to toss it. The eggs and potatoes, come on, who can mess this up? They did, dry, no flavor and the portions were like a starvation diet size. Tossed.. in our opinions, we don’t know HOW this place has a 4 star review. The 2 stars are for the staff at the order line and cashier. The latte girls have zero personality and skill. The coffee and latte was watery.

Moonside Bakery and Cafe in Half Moon Bay was a mixed bag. The service was friendly and quick, which was great considering how busy they were when we visited. They have an indoor seating area, perfect for escaping the crowds and the heat. They also serve breakfast, lunch, wood-fired pizza, and other items in addition to their sweet treats and pastries. The banana bread was okay, a decent choice for a sweet treat. However, the artichoke pesto was a major disappointment. It was dry and incredibly chewy, making it difficult to enjoy. Overall, while the service and atmosphere were pleasant, the food was inconsistent.

Local HMB shop with a fabulous selection of domestic and imported wines. Reasonable prices and expert service. Friendly wine bar and outstanding cheese selection. I met the owner just the other day, very nice woman named Carrie (sp?)

Fantastic wine and cheese shoppe. Aside from the extensive wine offerings, the shoppe has cheeses (of course) and other items that make excellent gifts for oneself or others. The specialty wine bags are fun and the mini fondue pots are also great. I love the whale’s tail cutting board. A clean, tidy, top notch shoppe!

From across the country, I ordered a charcuterie board for a very special couple who was visiting Half Moon Bay this past weekend. It was beautifully crafted and was such a delightful surprise for the couple. They sent me a picture. Thank you so much for taking good care of this order, being so easy to work with, and delivering it to them!

Rude staff, terrible service and everyone that was wine tasting seemed miserable. My husband and I stopped in to taste some wine and were blatantly ignored and not offered a menu. After waiting a long time and being treated rudely we decided to leave because there are many better options in the Half Moon Bay Area to have a more enjoyable experience.

Nice place in the heart of downtown half-moon bay They have got some really good wines for rating on the bright whites menu (I didn't try the others) Really nice server at the bar. Glad to be able to use my 15% off yelp coupon for tasting and cheese. You get three 2oz portions in each flight. Good music nice clean interior. The lady was kind enough to let me choose my own cheese and added fig jam and crackers

Nice wine and cheese shop in Central Downtown the only downside is the staff isn't very accommodating. Yes they have lots of wine selections and yes they have a lot of wine accessories but after visiting a few times I've just noticed that the staff isn't very accommodating they tend to say no more than yes they tend to have a lot of rules. If you're looking for a nice place for you and your date maybe this could be fun. But don't count on having a lot of great conversations with the staff.

We’ve visited this wine tasting room for years when visiting HMB and checked it out last week. We are fans of TJ Rodgers Pinot...and keep in mind, my husband and I have a long history with semiconductor, including TJ and Cypress. We had an opportunity to attend an exclusive tasting at his home early 2000s (est) comparing the most expensive French wines to his Pinot. Super impressed by his wine processing… super tech at the time we were there. This wine shop offers many options including TJ’s personal wines (he owns this tasting room). We’ve had a good experience over the years but was annoyed by this last visit. The attendant behind the counter was enthralled with the two gals tasting. The customers were rude and had a biting attitude. The attendant had not recognized our existence..,, until my husband I took a lot of interest in TJs wine, in particular. I was ready to leave until she said…. “Did you want to taste his wine”? I am all about customer service and ambiance and environment that invites you to experience the wine room. I told her how annoyed I was and ready to leave. She recalibrated and adjusted to our needs. We ended up purchasing two bottles of TJ’s wine but I was ready to leave and not buy anything. Not sure who they cater to - locals or vacationers.

Decent selection of wines and cheeses, but the cheese they served on the cheese plate I ordered didn't match what was on the menu (got a basic Mt. Tam from Cowgirl Creamery instead of the advertised French brie), and service to me and my friend was noticeably distant compared to other customers. I wonder why.

Customers have praised the delicious flavors of dishes like the half moon bay crepe and the smoked salmon crepe, as well as the beer battered fries.
We try to come at least once every other week since we live in about 25minutes away. We love this place. The people here are awesome! The food is consistent and delicious. The waffles are fresh. The fries are crispy. I love personally love their pasta options. I usually get the palermo and abruzzo. Both amazing and always tastes just like the last visit.. We have also tried several breakfast items and they are great size for the price. Definately go and try them out!

This place is AMAZING! A must stop for breakfast or lunch while you are in HMB. The food is so so delicious and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. The decor is cute and comfortable and the place is always very clean. We have had both breakfast and lunch here and you cannot go wrong. The burger and sandwiches are the best in the area and the breakfast burrito is mouth watering. We like to also get a sweet crepe to share as dessert with our meals. Do not skip this place!!

The food was great and tasty, but the 1-hour wait after ordering was too long. It would have been appreciated if the staff had checked in halfway through to update us on the delay and apologize, but that didn’t happen. The team was clearly working hard, but it seemed like they might have been slightly understaffed.

Came here for Sunday brunch and really enjoyed the Half Moon Bay crepe, but would have loved to have a little less red onion and a bit more smoked salmon in the crepe. Fries were super crispy and delicious.

Love the breakfast here! It’s my go-to spot! Staff is attentive and friendly. You can tell they care about the quality, the portions are generous, I’m really impressed with everything I get when I come here. I recommend the El Paso, Denver omelette, breakfast chorizo burrito and the buttermilk pancakes are top notch.

We visited this place on Black Friday. We didn’t want to shop we wanted to go to the ocean. On the way tor he beach we stopped by Mavericks. We were glad we did. My daughter had one of their Savory Crepes and really enjoyed it. My wife ordered their French Toast with Walnuts which she liked and there were 6 pieces. I had a Denver Omelette with potatoes and Wheat Toast (excuse the Ketchup in the picture - I dug in before remembering to take a picture). The coffee is also really good also. If you are in the area - stop by you won’t be disappointed- in my opinion.

Decent eggs benedicts, with slightly dry potatoes. Unfortunately, the crepe we ordered was below average. The cream was not authentic, the ice cream was low quality, and needed more nutella.

At Pelican Point RV Park, you can enjoy a range of amenities including full hookups, complimentary Wi-Fi, laundry services, and an on-site store. Not only is the park well-maintained and clean, but it also offers fantastic views of the ocean and golf course. The staff is incredibly accommodating and attentive to guests' needs. They even help with any plumbing issues that may arise during your stay.
Currently on our week long spring break vacation and this place is stunning! Beautiful, prime location and the gentleman that's been working the store/campground the last few days has been incredibly kind/personable. The beach down the trail is absolutely gorgeous, being just down the road from the Rits it looks like a scene right out of a movie. The campground is emmaculate and laid back to boot. We will for sure be coming back!

A little gem hidden in one of the most beautiful coastlines in California. The view from our campsite down to the ocean was spectacular. We saw whales and pelicans and owls and other types of birds. The location of this park is spectacular - the beach is a three minute walk down the hill and we were particularly impressed that we could take your dogs and enjoy this little private beach all to our ourselves most of the time - it was so quiet!! Another great feature of this location is the coastal trail - a cliff top walk that takes you through the Carlton Ritz golf course and along the top of the cliffs with the most beautiful view of this rugged coastline. Definitely coming back here next time we are in half Moon Bay!!

Great RV park in a beautiful location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms, laundry and office area were very clean. The showers had plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The site we had was level, clean and had everything we needed. It was a nice large site that didn't make you feel too close to your neighbors. We will be back and have already recommended it to several friends.

Great place to stay in Half Moon Bay! The bathrooms were very clean including the showers. They have a small store to pick up necessities, and the staff were always friendly. The beach is only about a 7 minute walk away. Would definitely recommend Pelican Point!!

I stayed here for a week, it was four days before I saw sunshine. The drive around the mountains was not too bad. The resort is very well maintained and the staff are really friendly and accommodating. They assisted me in the set-up and breakdown of my RV. The only negative I have, is having to back into the spots.😬 The office/store has many supplies, snacks and drinks. I didn't have a coaxial cable and they let me borrow one so I could watch cable TV. Great views of the Pacific ocean and golf course on the ocean hillside. The Ritz Carlton on Miramontes Point is spectacular. There was also a nudist beach pretty well hidden on other side of beach but the hike down to the beach was 6.5 miles, yep, I passed.😬🤣 I would definitely stay here again.

Restaurant
Ciya Mediterranean Cuisine is a bustling spot with a lively atmosphere and friendly staff. The restaurant offers high-quality Turkish coffee served in special cups to keep it hot constantly. The menu features delicious and fresh options like the Ciya wrap and Lamb-beef gyro, both generously sauced. Customers appreciate the accommodating service, with one diner noting the kitchen's flexibility in meeting dietary needs. While some find portion sizes slightly small for the price, others rave about the tasty and flavorful food.
I figured that many 5 star ratings on Google couldn’t possibly be wrong and well, they are not. Food was excellent all around. I particularly liked the kofte, and the hummus was some of the creamiest I’ve had. Staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. Sadly they were all out of a lamb shank special and the feta rolls, so we will definitely be back.
Porschephilia — Google review
As soon as we stepped inside we were greeted very warmly and seated. Service was great throughout our dining here and food was so good. We got the appetizer sampler, special lamb shank and the beef and gyro plate and they were all 10/10. Renee gave us great service and we were very happy here. We came here for the good reviews and they did not disappoint. Would recommend and definitely come back!

We had an amazing dinner at Ciya Mediterranean Cuisine in Half Moon Bay! Everything looked and tasted incredible — beautifully plated, fresh, and full of flavor. The kebab was perfectly grilled and juicy, the rice and hummus were delicious, and the salad added a refreshing touch. The lamb shank was tender and rich, paired so well with the bulgur and vegetables. You can really tell that everything is made with care and quality ingredients. For dessert, we tried the künefe with Turkish coffee, and it was the perfect ending to the meal — warm, sweet, and comforting. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It felt like a real Mediterranean experience right here in Half Moon Bay. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the area — we’ll be back soon!

I went to Ciya Mediterranean Cuisine recently and was honestly surprised by how authentic and flavorful the food was. I almost never finish my entire meal when I eat out, but this time I didn’t leave a single bite behind—that’s how good it was . The flavors tasted homemade and truly Mediterranean. The service was just as impressive. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and made the whole experience feel comfortable and genuine. Overall, amazing food and amazing people. I’d definitely go back and recommend it to others.

I’ve tried a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants, but this one really stood out — their signature fish dish was next level! It was so good I almost licked the plate clean 😅 only the head survived. Perfect flavor, perfectly cooked, and served with real care. Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! 🐟🔥

This is a very good restaurant in half moon bay. Ciya Mediterranean has exceptional food and service. We will definitely return to eat here. The sampler appetizer plate was so delicious and I got to try a little of everything vegetarian. 😋😋😋 I will order the same thing when I make it back to half moon bay. My husband ordered the chicken gyro plate. He loved it. 😋😋 We highly recommend eating here. Thank you Renee for your generous customer service. Everyone was very nice. It made our experience even nicer.

I’ll admit I was a little hesitant at first — sometimes when a place has too many glowing reviews, it can feel almost too good to be true. But I’m really glad my partner and I gave Ciya a try. The food was genuinely flavorful, and there’s clearly care in every dish. The staff was kind and attentive without being over the top. I recommend starting with the appetizer sampler— it’s a great variety and definitely worth it while you wait for your main dish. One small tip: if you’re sensitive to the taste of tap water, go for bottled. Other than that, everything was spot-on. Hoping the quality and hospitality stay just as strong — this place is a gem.

A cute coffee shop made even better by the gentleman playing the piano while we were there. It was a beautiful afternoon so we sat outside but with the window open, it was easy to hear. I work in HMB a day or two every few weeks. I have been here 3 times and it is a cute place, sometimes with live music. The first time, I waited about 5 minutes to be served even though it wasn't busy and the women behind the counter saw me. They were doing something, so I was patient, though I felt one should have come to serve the customer. Finally one of them came over, with no apology for the wait. I just had a latte, which was fine. I returned another day and nobody was behind the counter. Another customer said "She's in the back", so I waited. After about 5-7 minutes two people came out from the back. I wondered why they didn't leave one person to help customers. I got an Americano and it had too much water, so I was disappointed that it was weak. I had used my own cup (I like that they allow this) but I wish she had been able to guage how much water to add. I also had the Avocado toast with egg. It was very good and nicely seasoned, but I though a bit small for $12. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the toast, if not the Americano. The last time I went, there was another customer with a toddler waiting and I thought she had already ordered. I waited more than 5 minutes with the two ladies working behind the counter, looking up and not acknowledging me. Maybe because I'm not a regular? I don't know. I had enough of being ignored, so I didn't say anything and left at that point. As I walked out, I heard the other customer say "Is someone going to take my order?" I have no idea how long she had been waiting, but she was there when I arrived. There are a number of good cafes in HMB, so next time I will go to a different one. I don't like to write a negative review for a small business, but I hope they read this because ignoring customers is not good.
Alicia F — Google review
It's a very cozy Cafe. I loved the decorations. We sat in the corner by the window. There were lots of bakery items. Coffee is good. I also had the iced tea. It's a tiny place so go there when it is not busy. There's only one table outside. I think the whole point is to enjoy the atmosphere, but good luck getting a table. It is not for big groups, but you can get stuff to go. The staff is so nice and amazing!

Super sweet baristas, they were so kind. Their coffee is a bit expensive, but so delicious, with many different flavors like lavender, hazelnut, and vanilla. The inside is really cute, lots of art. They have indoor and outdoor seating, great place for homework. Their bathroom has some wack architecture but it's very cool.

Well, don't come here intending to be a customer and have to go to the bathroom at the same time. Pay first, then get access to the bathroom.... their employees guard the rules with a passion. This Burger King is located in Half Moon Bay, CA, in a shopping center where Route 92 intersects Highway 1. I dropped in because I needed a restroom immediately. As I was speed walking into the BK, I noticed the signs posted on the door stating the restrooms are for customers only. I still proceeded. I beelined it to the restroom and it was locked. There was no one in line which was fortuitous. So I quickly ordered a hamburger and then asked to use the restroom. The cashier was polite but a woman of few words, she did not verbally respond to my request. I heard a loud buzzing noise and hightailed it to the restroom. She must have used a mechanism behind the counter to buzz and unlock the door. The restroom was clean but very outdated. The burger was served hot, and it was darn tasty. Classic flame broiled deliciousness. Slight charred patty with a smoky flavor. I ate it on the spot in the dining room. The dining room was super clean, and comfortable.

The Ocean Terrace at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay is such a beautiful spot. The views of the Pacific are incredible and make you stop mid-conversation just to take it all in. Always feels relaxed whenever we dine at any of Ritz’s restaurants but particularly this one. This is the outdoor bar/restaurant serving bomb cocktails and rich flavorful snacks and meals. It can get a little windy but they provide you with comforters/blankets to keep you warm and they have heaters incase it is cold. There is a fire pit area too where you can sit and enjoy your drink with the view of the ocean. I like it now that it is exclusive to hotel guest and diner. You definitely need a reservation if you are going for food/drinks. They will then refund you your prepayment once you arrive. Valet service only. Food wise, it is totally worth it. Portion is good for two, can barely finish it myself. It is also very dense so you will get full easily. They accommodate to your dietary requirement.
Liberty A — Google review
Our family arrived at your restaurant with great enthusiasm for a meal. As the restaurant had not yet opened, we inquired with the staff about reserving a seat. The staff informed us that reservations were unnecessary and that we could choose a seat and wait for service. However, when the restaurant opened, the staff organized customers in a manner reminiscent of a teacher herding students to a cafeteria, without adhering to a first-come, first-served principle. Some later-arriving guests were assigned better seats, while our family was directed to a high-top table with an umbrella. Given that we had two children, this arrangement was highly inconvenient. More disappointingly, several tables remained empty, yet the staff placed us in a rather secluded corner. While I hesitate to label this as discrimination, the arrangement felt notably poor. Ultimately, we decided to leave the restaurant.
