Fish & chips restaurant
Sam's Chowder House is a classic seafood restaurant that offers a modern twist on New England dining. It has gained popularity for its clam chowder, lobster rolls, and the picturesque patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The restaurant has won awards for its seafood and is known for serving fresh catches daily. With an extensive menu featuring traditional New England dishes with a gourmet touch, visitors can enjoy fresh poke and oysters at the raw bar or savor real-deal lobster rolls in the bright dining room.
A beautiful restaurant right on the water! We got the oysters rockerfeller & shared a naked crab sandwich. The lump crab dipped in butter atop the crunchy but soft thick garlic loaf was perfect! Both were very delicious & left you wanting a little more. So we finished with the key lime pie & omg was that to die for! There’s a path to the left of the patio that lets you down to a nice seating area & walkway closer to the water. Perfect for a little after meal stroll. Don’t skip out on this California gem!

We went on a Friday morning, 15min before they open there was already a long queue. We got seated very quickly after they opened. We ordered lobster rolls, grilled oysters, fried calamari and seafood pasta. The lobster roll was the best I’ve ever had, the meat was overflowing! Everything else was very decent too! The view from the restaurant was definitely a plus. Will 100% back again.
Michelle S — Google review
We sat outside and it was the perfect sunny day out with the amazing view of the bay. The service and staff were friendly and helpful. Food: The clam chowder is what they’re known for and my husband enjoyed the seasonal pumpkin bisque. The scallops were well cooked and the garnish underneath helps add a kick of flavor. The fried seafood combo was really good and even though the seafood was fried, the meat inside was still juicy. The only letdown of the meal was the lobster roll. At first glance we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of lobster meat, but the meat was chewy and dry. Also, the roll was dry and hard to chew through as well. It seemed like an off day, so it may be better for other people on another day.

Place has a great location and SOME menu highlights, but overall it’s due for an update. The decor feels outdated, and if you choose to sit outside, make sure it’s not windy - it can literally blow your appetite away. The ladies’ restroom line was endless, which definitely took away from the experience. Most of the menu leans on deep-fried items that come out oily, and the fish was soaked in grease. The fries was way overdried and felt like spice lid broke loose over it. On the positive side, the New England clam chowder stood out!, large portion easily feeds two and had solid, rich flavor. Beverage selection was decent with a fair range of draft beers. Overall, the place still has potential, but it’s calling for a refresh in both design and dish selection to match its view and reputation.

10.25.25 Super busy and full of customers, even at 4pm. Wait time was 20 min. Our meals of Cioppino, Swordfish & Dressed Lobster Roll were excellent. And not overly salty, you can add salt & pepper to adjust to your taste. New England Clam Chowder was good also. Everything was fresh and cooked just right. Bread, while fresh, was cold due to them not heating it prior to serving as they "don't have oven capacity to accomodate for bread" we were told very apologetically. Our server Jesus A., was great, he made us feel very welcome, our first time dining here. Thank you to him!

Always a great experience at Sam's Chowder House! Shared a few plates, the clam chowder was the right consistency, not too thick. Fish and chips with coleslaw were perfect with the, crab louie and bay shrimp salad both had generous portion of seafood. Octopus appetizer was delicious! Sorry for shadow on photos we were enjoying the outside.

We visited Sam’s Chowder House with a group of colleagues and had an absolutely great time. The atmosphere is lively and relaxed, with that perfect coastal vibe that makes the whole experience feel authentic and fun. The seafood boil was outstanding - fresh lobster, mussels, clams, sausage, corn, potatoes, and plenty of melted butter. Everything tasted wonderful, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The portions were generous, and the presentation made it even more enjoyable to share as a group. We also really enjoyed the energy of the place. It’s the kind of restaurant where you can laugh, talk, and enjoy great food without feeling rushed. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. A fantastic spot for seafood lovers, team outings, or anyone wanting a memorable meal by the coast. Highly recommended - we’ll definitely be back.

Sam’s Chowder House lobster rolls was the best I have ever had. There was a lot of lobster and it was slightly seasoned. We ordered the Naked Lobster Roll which means it is a little warm. I have only had cold lobster rolls so I really enjoyed the warm lobster roll. The bread was SO GOOD. It looks like a pretzel roll but it is not. It was a buttery toasted soft bread. I enjoyed the bread just as much as the lobster. Their clam chowder was so-so😑. It tastes more like celery soup than clam chowder. There is inside and outside seating. We enjoyed the outside seating overlooking the harbor. We dined at night and the temperature was chilly but the heating lamps made the area nice and warm.

Seafood restaurant
Barbara's Fishtrap is a beloved cash-only fish shack in Princeton-by-the-Sea, offering traditional seafood favorites and stunning views of Half Moon Bay. Established in 1971, this family-owned restaurant provides a laid-back atmosphere with the option for beachfront takeout. The menu features award-winning clam chowder, seafood pastas, and daily catches, but their specialty lies in serving some of the best fish and chips in the area.
Such an adorable fish shack on the beach. Perfect location. Plenty of seating inside and out. They have patio seating up and down the street as well as a cozy inside seating space. I felt like the price was very affordable for how much you get. 5 decent sized pieces of fresh cod with some of the best steak fries I’ve ever had was only $21. It came out hot and fast. We just stood at a table bench near by and watched the waves and people drive by as we enjoyed our lunch. We also got a cup of clam chowder which was delicious. All in all a great stop in Half Moon Bay for some delicious traditional California Bay Area fare!

On a chilly Tuesday, I decided on a little trip over to half moon bay. After spending some time hiking and enjoying nature, we were hungry and chose Barbara’s Fishtrap. I had been scrolling through reviews and this seemed like a great place so I knew I had to try it out. All of the food was excellent, perhaps other than the oyster tempura sandwich. There were only 3 measly oysters which is terrible. However the large fish trap was fantastic. Everything on that plate was cooked well and tasted great. If I were to go back I definitely would skip the oyster sandwich because it does not feel worth the price at all for 3 fried oysters with relatively cheap items accompanying it. However, the saving grace of this meal was definitely the actual fish trap which is more of what they’re known for. In the future I would definitely just share the large fish trap among two people. Service was also nice but I could tell they were being rushed through everything.
Anthony G — Google review
We arrived within 10 min of the restaurant opening and took the last table. It's worth the wait if you have to. The staff is friendly and efficient. The clam chowder was very fresh and tasty. We tried most tempura items (fish, scallop, shrimp, zucchini, and more). Everything was flavorful but hands down the scallops were the best. I'd order a plateful with some cheese bread. The bread on my fried oyster sandwich was perfectly toasted. I added the coal slaw to give it freshness and crunch. The steak fries were hefty and filling. The zucchini was a perfect side. We walked away completely satisfied. The portions are shareable. We will be back for more.
Allan S — Google review
The best items I tried here were the fried Ocean prawns tempura and the Key Lime Pie with the Kona Hawaiian beer. The key lime pie was yummy...not exactly the same as I had in Key West (because the type of lime used is different here). The fish and garlic butter prawns were ok. I loved the Ocean prawns and the Kona Big Wave beer was the smoothest lightest beer almost like a lager. Definitely goes super well with orange wedges squeezed in it!
Sagar — Google review
The restaurant closes to change frying oil between 3:00 to 3:45 but they start closing down earlier if needed. When we were there recently on a weekend, they stopped taking orders at the take out counter before 2:45 so just be aware and plan accordingly. It's an awesome fish shack. During peak lunch period, the wait time for a table in the restaurant can be an hr or more long. The line for the take out counter can also be long but it moves fairly quickly. There are several picnic style tables outside. Many people also take it to go on the beach. The fish and chips is what we get almost every time. The clam chowder is the best. They can broil the fish instead of frying it if you want. Just ask.
Nancy C — Google review
Parking is difficult. Long line to order. 25-30 minute wait to be seated. 10 minute wait for to go. Decent amount of seating for to go outside the restaurant. Fish and chips was very greasy, but tasty. Clam chowder- potato based, with good flavor and a decent amount of clans. Decent portion size. I wouldn't rush back- plenty of other restaurants to try nearby.
Jeff ( — Google review
Fresh seafood and amazing customer service. The scallops are incredible. As well as the Crab sandwich, Ceasar salad, clams, and tempura mushrooms. Their clam chowder is also a must. No cream added. They utilize the potato to get this incredible texture and thickness in the soup that's craveable. We live in SF but it's worth the 30 or ao minutes to get there. Dog friendly patio. Always a plus.
Korena C — Google review
I like Barbara’s Fish trap. The ceviche is the best. It had the right amount of onions and cilantro if you like onions and cilantro. It is served with a side of pita chips. The fish and chip were good as well. The fish tastes fresh. The atmosphere was unique. It is a spot on the side of the harbor. We enjoyed sitting at the picnic tables along the side of the restaurant. We will definitely return to try other dishes.

Located just off Highway 1, The Barn in Half Moon Bay is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. This funky eatery offers a menu of American classics made with fresh ingredients sourced from local farms. From classic burgers and hot dogs to vegetarian and vegan options, there's something for everyone. The laid-back atmosphere makes it perfect for families, with an enclosed dining area where kids can play lawn games while adults enjoy their meal and drinks.
It was our first time going to The Barn located right off 1 Freeway in Half Moon Bay and everything about it was above and beyond! We went as soon as they opened on a Wednesday morning, and they were already swarming with people. Despite parties filling in, it did not take very long for us to get our food. The food tasted great and they provided extra sauces like ketchup, mustard and hot sauces. The vibe was very nice, we went on a nice warm day so it the experience made it great. Everything about the seating area was very cozy, felt like having a picnic. It was also very clean! On top of all that, the staff was friendly with us and attentive. Will be going again once we make another trip to Half Moon Bay. We don't live near so unfortunately we can't have it as often as we'd like to, but I think it makes the place more special. Highly recommend!

I had a great visit to The Barn in Half Moon Bay. The relaxed farm-style setting made it the perfect spot to unwind outdoors. I tried the “What Cluck” chicken sandwich which was crispy and flavorful, and the “Where’s the Beef” grilled cheese was rich and satisfying. The BLT was fresh and hearty, and the mango lemonade was the ideal refreshing drink. I finished it off with a slice of Lolliberry pie that was sweet and tangy. A memorable meal in a charming spot.
Scott H — Google review
The fries were some of the worst I ever had, cold, super stale texture, tastes like double fried or old oil, and overly salted. The chocolate shake tasted like there was little chocolate and ice cream, lots of milk. Really want to like this place because the menu sounds amazing, but sub par food and service in my opinion. Hope they turn it around, would try one or two more times before giving up as they have nice outdoor seating, but quality is just not matching their prices. 7 dollars for the worst fries ever, although portion is large.
Steven S — Google review
LOVED the food here! Everything was so flavorful and fresh (contrary to previous reviews) — I had the ‘What the Cluck’ chicken sandwich which was the staff recommendation and it was fantastic + my brother had the ‘Hot Farmer’ burger and he said it was one of the best (if not the best) he has ever had. The chili was also great and fries were simple but good. The prices are expensive, but typical for this area. Wait times can also get quite long depending on the time you come, but the food is honestly worth it. There is also loads of seating (all outdoors), and it’s a great place for any size parties or children. Would recommend — the perfect lunch spot!
Natalia R — Google review
The entire crew and ambience was amazing! Really enjoyed sitting right next to the barn and then also in the garden by the fire pit once a little bit of a chill came on with the fog! Beautiful surroundings and incredible firm to table cuisine.
Ruma T — Google review
Burgers were delicious! Mac and cheese bites were giant and good, not greasy at all with the perfect amount of crispy breading but need more cheese or flavor.
Carrie K — Google review
Vibes were great. We went early so parking was not an issue. There is a small dedicated parking lot, otherwise may have to find parking. Menu price can be $$. Food was great. Outdoor seating was clean.
Van — Google review
If you like a crispy chicken sammy this is definitely a great spot to stop at. I got the cluckin crispy sammy and it was delicious, I added bacon to mine which you should do too. The service was so so but it was also a busy Saturday afternoon so i know how hard that can be for someone working there. You should keep an eye out for the weather before heading there cuz if its really foggy theres not many spots to sit outside (no inside dining here). Also this place is definitely pricey (but worth it) we got a burger and a chicken sammy and 2 beers and it was like $80+.

Restaurant
Dad's Luncheonette is a charming cafe located in a historic train caboose on Highway 1, offering a menu of classic Cal-American comfort food with organic touches. Run by Chef Scott Clark, formerly of Saison in San Francisco, this spot is known for its fantastic hamburger and mushroom sandwiches, as well as addictive homemade potato chips seasoned with nutritional yeast. The take-out only venue also offers a few outdoor tables for dining.
I do like this spot a lot. Hamburger sandwiches and mushroom sandwiches has the perfect seasoning. Not too greasy, not too plain. The taste reminds me of the taste of home. I also like the Mac and cheese a lot. Not too sticky and cheesy, so that you can enjoy it one spoon after another.
Alexica Q — Google review
Nice place to get good food near beach areas! I had the hamburger and my partner had the mushroom hamburger and homemade potato chips with a root beer to drink. Delicious! This place is busy on the weekends. They pump out the food pretty fast for a caboose!
Mitchel L — Google review
Everything about Dad’s was simply excellent. Great vibes, love a tight menu, and the best burger I’ve had in a long time. The salad was clearly super fresh and the dressing unexpected and delicious. The service was so warm and friendly too. Dad’s is such a gem, I can’t wait to return! 100% worth a stop up the coast.

4.3/5 for the hamburger sandwich. It was kinda pricey but taste wise it was really good. Definitely come here if you’re in the half moon bay area. The taste reminded me of beeps burger but a little but better and lighter. My photos dont do justice here lol

Employees are amazing! Funny and personable, loved everyone and super interactive with all the customers. Food was delicious, fresh daily. Priced higher than expected but it's worth it given all the pluses of quality and service and atmosphere. The vibes were immaculate- cozy and unique too.
Allison L — Google review
We stopped due to reading reviews of how awesome this place was. Wish the menu would have been larger as we had to settle on the burger(wife and I aren’t eating a mushroom sandwich). Homemade chips were good but nothing spectacular. Mac and cheese was unique and the crunchy rice added a great twist but the mac could definitely use more bold, flavorful cheese. Bees all outside in the waiting/ eating area so we decided to eat in the car.
Bulakay — Google review
We waited about 15 minutes before being seated. Ordered the burger, salad, soup, and dessert. The salad was quite herby and a bit hard to chew, and the burger was just okay. The place itself is cute, with a big parking lot, but the menu is quite limited. The service, however, is very warm and enthusiastic — the staff are kind and even chat with customers while they wait for their orders. Overall, it’s not really a spot I’d go out of my way to visit. This would be a 3.5/5 for my partner and I. We stopped here because the spot was unique (part of a train), but nothing special about the food (at least the item we got which was the hamburger sandwich). When we got there, the line was long and then we waited about 15-20 mins for the food. It was a very basic breakfast patty melt- it had a generic beef patty topped with a cheese, a piece of lettuce and pickled onions, and sandwiches by two pieces of toast. The sauce was light, almost non-existent. Portion is a normal sandwich- all for $17.00 which we thought was on the steeper side.

Californian restaurant
Half Moon Bay Brewing Company is a laid-back brewpub in California that offers delicious coastal pub fare and house beers. The brewery overlooks Pillar Point Harbor, providing a scenic backdrop for enjoying their continuously rotating selection of craft beers, including an IPA and fall harvest ale made with local pumpkins. Inside, you can savor Dungeness crab nachos and beer-battered fish & chips in cozy surroundings.
My coworkers and I came to this place after a hike and needed nourishment. The menu contained lots of options for everyone and the dishes looked delicious. We picked a few appetizers to share and all of them were tasty. If you enjoy pickles go for their fried pickles. It's nicely breaded and fried and it is just yummy! I went for the seared ahi tuna and it was tasty. A large portion of tuna that came with avocado, egg roll, and rice. If you're in the area you need to check this place out!

This is one of the few spots available in Half moon bay for decent drinks and food overlooking the ocean. Hence, went here. There was a wait time for about half hour on a Saturday afternoon. Mushroom soup was soup of the day. Truffle fries were good and mango cider was good too. Fish tacos were decent.
Apurva B — Google review
Now is the perfect time to visit, with pumpkins seasons and the weather being just right. There were a lot of people on the weekend, but the wait was only 10 minutes. Sitting at the outdoor tables, many people brought their dogs, and there were 11 ! I ordered claims chowder, prawn salad, fish taco, and fried calamari ( a little bit too dry ) Every dish was good. The service was very diligent and they refilled the drink all the time. Parking easy !
Kimberly I — Google review
This place has absolutely DELICIOUS beer and super friendly service. Me and my husband love coming here when visiting Half Moon Bay. I wish that I could give them five stars. However, the last two times we have been there and I have gotten food poisoning. Yesterday after eating there I was the only one of our party of four that ordered fish and now I am having it come out of both ends. (Trying not to be graphic, but just being honest.) My husband who orders a burger every time we come has never gotten food poisoning. So, in summary, if visiting this place get ready for amazing beer and friendly service, but maybe stick with a burger and stay away from the fish.......

Pretty solid brewpub. I think the food is better than the beers. The quality and freshness of the seafood is there and I never had a bad dish. I think they make the best clam chowder in HMB. I get it every time I come here and I've tried all of the chowders in the area. The beers are decent at best, never had any standouts but all very drinkable. Service varies. Big restaurant with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a popular spot so you may have to wait during peak times. Parking is free and not too difficult in the large shared parking lot around the restaurant.

Restaurant
Moonside Bakery & Cafe is a charming European-style bakery located in downtown Half Moon Bay. The bakery offers an array of freshly baked goods including bread, pastries, cookies, and cakes. In addition to sweet treats, the menu features wood-fired pizzas, homemade soups, salads, and hearty lunch options. Customers can also order custom cakes and pastries for special occasions from Thomas Grauke, the master pastry chef and owner.
Sooo good. I ordered two plates to be able to sample some of everything and surprised myself when I cleaned out both plates! I had the avocado chicken salad with arugula and spinach, a rooibos tea latte, and a side of a blueberry pancake. They were very accommodating of substitutions and modifications. Everything was delicious.

While walking past the Moonside Bakery & Cafe, we saw many customers either enjoying their coffee or breakfast there or just lining up to purchase the pastries at the bakery. We decided to buy something for our campsites as an extra item for our lunch. All the pastries and cookies we bought were made fresh and delicious. The cashier was very friendly, even though he was swamped. Good jobs! I’ll be back next time when I visit Half Moon Bay again!

The service is friendly but basic. The place decoration is simple and nice. The food tastes good but… If you are vegetarian you are fine but if you are vegan is way more complicated as the dishes don't have a clear list of ingredients and the salsas are a mistery, they just bring to the table with no explanation. The allegedly vegan soup have some ghee butter flavor. Very affordable prices.

There are many seating with gorgeous interiors in the shop. Actually, the shop has two entrances. One on the front, the other on the back, which is connected to this small shipping plaza with beautiful wall paintings and ceiling decorations I like. Many bakeries and cakes look really cute and delicious. They look like they are baking them in the shop. Long line, so there's some wait time, but it's worth it.

We LOVED this place as it is a little gem in HMB (Half Moon Bay). The food was great and they had lots of options.
STRYKEN B — Google review
Food is incredible here. So many sweet treat options. The sandwiches are delicious and the potato salad with the sandwich was the best I've ever had. The fire oven pizza is amazing. We enjoyed every bite at Moonside bakery. Worth the money!
Nathalie V — Google review
The shop looked charming at first but after ordering and eating the food on the spot, the experience was upsetting to say the least. We ordered a mushroom pizza, and it came out burnt and generally unenjoyable. The dining area has no good atmosphere at all either. Maybe the desserts are better than everything else, but I doubt it.
Mark K — Google review
Wow… yeah no so favorable . Staff good, they lost my latte? Seriously… someone took it after being made.. French toast was so darn DRY and sweet.. had to toss it. The eggs and potatoes, come on, who can mess this up? They did, dry, no flavor and the portions were like a starvation diet size. Tossed.. in our opinions, we don’t know HOW this place has a 4 star review. The 2 stars are for the staff at the order line and cashier. The latte girls have zero personality and skill. The coffee and latte was watery.

Half Moon Bay Bakery, a long-standing establishment since 1908, is renowned for its specialty breads, donuts, cookies, sandwiches, and coffee. During October, the bakery is famous for its pumpkin treats such as moist pumpkin bread and thick pumpkin pie. Other delectable offerings include custard-filled donuts and crescent moon-shaped chocolate chip cookies. The bakery's original brick ovens are still used to make their delicious pastries and treats in the old-fashioned way.
Small and nowhere to sit but good service and donuts were great. $2 per donut which is probably the going rate these days?!

This was my first time visiting this bakery. Nice vibe great pictures, great pastries, and donuts breads. However, out of the staff unfortunately I got the rotten apple. No hello, how can I help? Lol, I got the look as if I’m to now I’m next. I ordered four different kinds of cookies and cannolis. I got four individual bags to carry out the 4 different types of cookies I ordered.? Maybe, I should have asked earlier to put them in a box but Honestly, I didn’t know how much I was going to order. Everything looked delicious! Sometimes common sense goes a long way.? I did ask after if I could please have a box to make it easier to carry the cookies out. She gave me the box and walked away nice!? Trust me, I understand I work retail. However, just remember this one thing… Customers are there keeping you employed with the job whether you’re tired or not whether you wanna be there or not! Treat your customers with respect always!!! Great them with one word “Hello” if anything it’s respect, that’s customer service! Have a great day.. P.S your cannolis were amazing!

This amazing, cute, and small donut-cookie shop is the classic, nostalgic era. Love everything about it. The vintage wooden door and door knob took me back to yester-years. Once you walk in there, it's like magnetic and steel, the gourmet cake slices, cookies, donuts draws all your attention to the glass panel counter. Mouthwatering decors of each cookies, cake slices, the works. So many choices, how do you choose. Because I was visiting Half Moon Bay from Utah, my eyes were much bigger than my stomach. I got lots of different kinds of cookies, sweet treats, cheesecake slices. I made sure I've what I picked out before I walked out of the bakery. I had a checklist to eat some, save some at the hotel, and bring some back to Utah to share with families and friends. The employees were friendly and helpful. I loved the decors, settings and environment. The bakery is small but it has all the charms a bakery could ask for and more. I lost track how much I spent, let's just say a good amount; no matter, I got what I wanted and made me happy when I left the bakery shop. Everything was fresh on the spot. If you are craving for sweet treats, let me say this is the bakery destination you don't want to miss. I started with one-two-then a few more cookies, a satisfied/happy customer. I knew in my heart the next time I return home to the Bay Area, I will be sure to take a drive to this bakery store, again. From the San Francisco International Airport to Half Moon Bay Bakery, it was about 45 minutes depending on traffic as I took my sweet time on CA-1 South, the scenic drive route was beautiful as a postcard and it was about 27 miles. With a full box of treats in my rental vehicle, eating them all along during my drive back to the Bay Area, my heart was content and complete. Half Moon Bay is one of the happiest bakery store on Earth. Can't wait to return for more yummy treats.

Half Moon Bay Bakery on Main Street is a tiny, charming gem that smells like heaven the moment you walk in. The display case is full of fresh pastries, cookies, and specialty breads that all look irresistible. We picked up a pumpkin bread that was perfectly spiced and moist — we savored it for the next two days! The kids chose two pastries and couldn’t stop talking about how good they were. A cozy, nostalgic bakery that’s absolutely worth a stop when you’re in downtown Half Moon Bay. Highly recommended!

Excellent Bakery. It’s been there for almost 30 years. I visit the place every time I go to Half Moon Bay downtown. The cinnamon Crisps are the best. Love the wood fired pizzas too.

Donut was good but stay away from the cookies. Unless you like the taste of stale! Purchased a bunch of different kinds and ended up throwing all away ($38 worth!). My advice is to buy one and taste, if you like then buy more.

Was there Nov 8-9, Cute little bakery, I have been there several times. Girl behind counter was very short, seemed very annoyed. Help should be friendly and helpful and appear to enjoy the job.

Monsoon Himalayan Cuisine is a cozy restaurant in Half Moon Bay, CA that offers traditional Nepalese and Indian dishes made with house-ground spices and local ingredients. Chef Ram Chandra Subedi, who hails from the Himalayan region of Nepal, brings the warm and flavorful meals of his homeland to this popular spot. The diverse menu features a variety of unique dishes including curries, biryanis, momos, and thukpa.
One of the best Nepalese restaurants I've ate at. The food is very flavourful, and there are so many spices in the food. I highly recommend this place. I'm vegetarian and the dishes are very good. I have been here many times and buy take out every time I am in town.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Mansoon Himalayan Cuisine! The food was absolutely delicious—rich in flavor, freshly prepared, and perfectly spiced. Every dish we tried exceeded our expectations. On top of that, the customer service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced our visit. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Himalayan flavors and top-notch service! Thank you so much . 🙏

This place rocks. I got the Himalayan meal and it felt like I had 4 courses. Also tried Momos, the tandoor plate and chow main. Everything was excellent. Would come here often if it was close.

I’m a Indian food fanatic and I loved this place! We ordered several dishes as a family and tried them all. They were all delicious and the service was excellent. Very good flavors in all of the dishes and the ambience was fun. Definitely recommend any of the chicken curries.
Kymble J — Google review
Update: the only thing that I loved here... Channa masala and the curries are now very very bad. Tea is still good but everything else lost it's shine. Old review: four star Channa masala was very very good. Must try. The naans (plain, butter and kashmiri) were okay. The chai, chicken curry were good. Weren't happy with samosa. Momos was good too. I found the prices were a bit higher than the other places I visit by a whole dollar or two per dish. The service is stellar. But, all the dishes were edible and good to consume. And I have had better naans, chicken curry and samosas for lesser price elsewhere. The channa masala is very good though.

The service and food were excellent. Our family has different spice levels so it was great that this restaurant allows you to choose your spice preference. Mild was truly mild. I loved the flavors of the dishes. There were clearly marked vegan options as well. The restaurant and bathroom were also kept clean, which is an extra bonus. The restaurant is in a plaza with many parking spots, which is helpful in downtown Half Moon Bay. I definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Being a vegetarian it’s a bit tricky to find food that’s leaves you craving for more. While in HMB we stumbled upon this place and it was very welcoming and warm looked more like a family run place and cozy set up. They have wishing wheel as well and a lot of interesting stuff. However I wish I could say the same about all the food. The veg momos very great sadly the aloo bodi tama had the black eyes bean peas were so hard and uncooked I might have ended up hurting a tooth or two, while the naan was edible enough Overall a nice place depending on what you chose, also very few vegetarian options.

Mixed Nepalese and Indian cuisine. Both vegetarian and meat option (chicken, lamb, fish). It’s family owned and run. Staff is very nice and service is great. Food is delicious and fresh. Will make sure to come back.

Flying Fish & Grill is a seafood specialist located in Half Moon Bay, CA. The restaurant offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes, including famed fish tacos and grilled fish, fried shrimp, and crab cakes. The tropics-themed space provides a perfect setting to enjoy traditional seafood dishes like fish and chip combinations and Louie salads. Visitors can also savor creamy clam chowder with a hint of cheese flavor and unique drinks like the Bird of Paradise that make you feel like you're on vacation.
Flying fish and grill is absolutely The Best restaurant I’ve tried going on vacation. Every time I go to different places it just misses one thing. The vibe in this place is amazing just a relaxing atmosphere especially by the bar. Love the salmon tostada salad. Crab cakes are delicious, Bloody Mary was the kicker. Never had a Bloody Mary in my life but was surprised by how it looks and taste but definitely worth it. Love this place it’s going to be my to go place now. ~TamalesElTamaleroJR

Upon arrival, we were seated right away. They must've been shorthanded that day because it took at LEAST 10 minutes or more for a waiter to take our order. We ordered the warm bread bowl and butter as an appetizer. To my disappointment, the crust and ends were rock hard, making most of it inedible. This didn't give me much confidence that my dish, the Flying Cabanera pasta, would be any better. To my surprise, the shrimp were big, the sauce was flavor, the pasta was cooked just right, and the portions were plentiful. Despite the not so great service and appetizer, I would like to come back and try other menu items.

Food was very tasty and good. The popcorn shrimp were crispy and delicious. The crab sandwich was made from fresh crabmeat with melted cheese. Service okay not too bad. But the restaurant itself was nice and chill. The decor was old school, but made the place feel more authentic to the area. Price was reasonable for someone on a budget.
Steve I — Google review
Was looking for lunch recommendations from ChatGPT and this restaurant came up on top for its seafood tacos and fish & chips (apparently rated #9 best in America by The Daily Meal). We started with the clam chowder, which was decent. Then moved onto crab melt sandwich was perfectly crisp, but didn’t wow us. We opted for 3 tacos solo ($7.50 each) to save $3 since we didn’t need the extra rice, beans, fries, or salad: Cod taco – uses the same fish as the fish & chips, so it felt redundant. Mahi Mahi taco – two generous pieces of grilled fish with mango salsa; tasty but not memorable. Coconut shrimp taco – two shrimp with mango salsa; nicely crisp but could have used a squeeze of lemon for extra zing. Finally, the fish & chips were indeed the highlight but the portion was tiny, leaving us a little underwhelmed. We skipped the recommended homemade devil's slide expresso pie and key lime pie since we brought our own birthday cake but since the restaurant charges a $2 per-person cake-cutting fee, we decided to have it at the beach instead. Nothing stood out enough to make it worth going out of your way.

Thank you for your service and for the food and for letting me stay for a while after eating to hang out before heading back home. I will say for the sear bass to add more seasoning to it please so there's more flavor to it. Also for sweet potato frensh fries make it more crisper please. Thank you again!

This place is odd. The service is not good. It's unorganized and the food itself is lackluster. Super expensive too! There was no clear indication who was our waiter it was all over the place. I paid cash and it took so long to get change like they couldn't find any. I wouldn't recommend this place, it had no heart.

We visited Flying Fish during the Pumpkin Festival weekend. Even with the crowds and hectic parking situation, our party of 10 was seated right away. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. We ordered a variety of dishes — calamari, fish and chips, clam chowder (both in a bread bowl and in a regular bowl), and the seafood cioppino. Everything was delicious! My favorites were the fish and chips and the calamari. Portions were great, the food came out fresh, and the flavors were spot on. Overall, a fantastic spot for seafood in Half Moon Bay. We’ll definitely be back!

Cafe Capistrano is a charming restaurant housed in a converted home, offering traditional Mayan-inspired Mexican cuisine. Chef and owner Arturo Mul's dedication to using fresh, healthy ingredients and creating unique flavors has made this spot a local favorite. The cozy outdoor patio provides the perfect setting to savor Mexican and Mayan specialties from the Yucatan region, such as poc chuk (citrus-marinated pork) and sikil-pak (pumpkin seed dip).
Finally tried this place for brunch and it was fantastic. The food is so fresh, with great flavors and huge portions. The space is a bit cramped and loud when it’s full, but that it feels homey and shouldn’t stop anyone from going. Looking forward to trying the dinner menu.

The location of the restaurant is super cute! Very reminiscent of Mexico. My boyfriend ordered the garlic prawns and I got the cochinita panuchos. The pictures don’t do the food justice! The prawns were well seasoned and the dish came with fresh tortillas on the side. I got the cochinita panuchos which come with 3 panuchos. It’s very filling! The bean stuffed maize patty is topped off with cold slaw and avocados. The service was okay. The prawns were the only fish option available which was unfortunate since one of us is vegetarian. Plenty of seating.

We’re locals and we brought a visiting relative to Cafe Capistrano for dinner and it was a great experience. We had the Poc Chuc pork dish, the chicken enchiladas, and vegetarian quesadillas. It’s open for breakfast, lunch & dinner, and just 2 blocks off Main Street.

2nd time here and it still doesn’t disappoint! It’s totally unlike your typical very Americanized Mexican food. Had the most colorful and scrumptious appetizer to share and each of us ordered pork, steak and chicken dish separately. Amazingly each grill meat tastes aromatically different. The lady server was very friendly and we even went back to the kitchen to discuss with the also very friendly Mayan chef. He showed us the sauce used to marinate and cooked the grilled chicken with. We left satisfied to our taste buds and not feeling too heavy or too rich. Besides, the dishes are so vividly colorful with all natural ingredients! This place is worth coming back again and again.

I almost didn’t go because I don’t *love* Mexican food in America but I saw reviews that said food is rly fresh and loved the variety of things I saw on plates so i went. Those reviews are 100% correct. Well seasoned, fresh ingredients FRESHLY prepared, and perfection portioned and served. Very friendly service, unassuming interior, very charming and unique atmosphere. Great for dinner for 1 or with lots of fam/friends. Server walked by to see if I liked the food, and all I could say was “this food is literally amazing” and I made eye contact with the chef!!! Highly highly highly recommend when in HMB.

Wow! We got off the main road in Half Moon Bay and found Cafe Capristrano in a quiet neighborhood on October 4, 2025. Don’t be fooled by the small older home-turned-quaint-casual restaurant. We were utterly blown away by the food. Best homemade chunky guacamole. The Mayan style chicken adobo was moist and tender. The garlic prawns were cooked to perfection. The cheese enchiladas with Yucatán style sauce were to die for. The Cochinita Pibil (pork slowed cooked in banana leaves) was tender and moist. Many of the dishes are served with generous and delicious portions of black beans, fresh salsa, fruit salsa, guacamole, rice, and Mayan coleslaw. The staff is friendly and make you feel right at home. We can’t wait to go back to try their other selections.

Stopped by for coffee and snacks, however they didn't have any vegan options other than a salad. For some reason they sprinkled the foam top of our latte and cappuccino with chocolate/cacao powder, which we didn't ask for, neither we liked it. Fortunately they had cinnamon and nutmeg instead. Nice interior, warm and friendly overall. They had plant based beverages for coffee. Ordering was slow due to some customers holding up the line by being indecisive - despite standing in line for a few minutes prior to their turn.

I haven’t had this good of an experience at a restaurant in a long while. Celebrating my husband’s birthday I was very concerned that we hadn’t picked a spot in advance. After scanning all the menus along the Main Street my husband chose to come here. I was immediately delighted that there was a huge and well appointed garden and open play space with enclosure for our three kids to play freely with the kids of other patrons. That would have made my day, but we also really loved the food. I had the Southwest salad with shrimp and I loved every bit of it- the shrimp especially! We shared the elote (corn) and it was truly scrumptious! My husband had to get a second serving of his street tacos. He loved the carnitas and carne asada. I asked Jordon what the dessert offerings were for our birthday boy and he took care of that right away bringing us the most amazing churros I’ve had in my life! I had asked about chocolate sauce, but I was so wrong; their caramel sauce was absolutely the right fit! The kids had chicken fingers with fries as well as rice and beans. The healthy portion of guacamole with some Pico salsa was a lovely addition too! I enjoyed the cilantro lime margarita and the salt brim seasoning was heavenly. We were super impressed by the service provided by Jordan and also enjoyed the happy banter and social kindness of bartender Ryan. Now seriously the space and grounds themselves are also on par with the excellent food so you get atmosphere and star quality service and a delicious, fulfilling meal all together. Well done! My husband’s birthday dinner was one we will remember happily forever. On a side note, I didn’t see a bathroom with a changing table. I asked Jordan and he graciously opened up the « secret » bathroom for baby changing. Nice. Go here for fun vibes and I’m sure so much more whenever you can!

I promised to eat here and it finally happened. We are celebrating our birthdays. The appetizers delicious. I like the salsa with freshly diced tomatoes and guacamole. The shrimp ceviche was great! We also ordered fried Baja Fish Tacos, grilled Salmon Tacos and a bowl of Clam chowder soup. For dessert, Churros con caramel. Everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Thank you, Jordan, for waiting on us with a smile! Cheers!

Great atmosphere, skip the waiter order at the counter. Food is still served to you are your table! There are many tables outside and with lots of seating. Don't worry they know the coast can be chilly they have heaters and a firepit to keep you warm and toasty. Dogs are allowed here both inside and outside. The bathrooms are emaculate. The appetizer was enough food for us to share and take our burritos home. This appetizer was the chicken chili nachos! Stop here after walking in the sand at poplar beach with your family and of course the dog!

Next time we will have to try the food and maybe get this rating up a bit more.

Looks like an older craftsman home converted into a brewery and restaurant. Love the chill vibes inside. Long high tops for everyone. Some patio and sidewalk seating. Seriously made food and beer at a place that doesn’t take things too seriously. Perfect. Beers on tap. They hand them over to you right away when you order. For food: Between ordering and receiving may have been about 15 minutes. Not bad. Wasn’t packed on a Saturday at 5:30pm. Lots of options for vegetarians. They also had broccoli cheddar as their soup of the day. Need to bring a friend next time so we can order more and share. I came here for the clam chowder bowl. I’ve been in the mood for it and wanted to compare it to the legendary local chowder found at Sam’s on the other end of town I had a few weekends ago. Served hot with oyster crackers, the soup was a bit more sand than ivory colored. Which is just an observation. The taste was incredible. Richly emulsified, creamy, well salted and seasoned, and the pieces inside were perfectly sized for a spoon - no large chunks that feel like ‘work’ There were some chopped chives up top and I wish they added some more. Lovely soup and will come again for more.

Pretty cool litte spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Not on the water, so no good views. We felt the price was rather high for what we got. Wife and I ordered a cheeseburger to split that was decent but nothing to rave about. Daughter got chicken strips that were mostly batter, a bit over cooked, and without much flavor at all. Pretzel bites were good but the beer cheese was much more watery than I like. We also had a root beer for our daughter and two draft beers for me and the wife. Cost was about $100 bucks. Service was good and staff was friendly.

Food is overpriced. Avoid the elk burger. $25 for a small burger with an overcooked patty smothered in Dijon mustard. $5 for side fries. Sacrilege burger was okay, but have to pay extra for cheese. We think they forgot the sauce, so also dry. Again, no fries included for a $18 burger. Weird to use English muffins for buns as default. They tend to be drier and crumbly..maybe that's the theme of the food here Pulled pork sandwich was the only good food. Beers are acceptable, but not worth getting the food here.

Fattoria e Mare is a lively Italian bistro with a charming white-tableclothed dining room and outdoor seating. The restaurant prides itself on attention to detail, ensuring that only the best local products are included in their menu. Their wide selection of mostly seafood cicchetti offers delightful options like grilled octopus, scallops with cucumber and mint, and more. Guests can enjoy drinks and nibbles or indulge in a full meal while soaking up the inviting ambiance.
This is a very nice restaurant for date night or special occasion. It has an upscale feeling but still feels cozy and charming. The service is top notch and the atmosphere is also very nice. We got the half chicken which was very good. The beet salad is also very good. I got the clam chowder which was not very good. I would come back to try other things here

This was our first time at this restaurant, and my wife and I were very impressed. The food was delicious, the ambiance was wonderful, and Luis, our waiter, provided excellent service. We enjoyed a salad and a pizza, and both were delightful. This is definitely a place we’ll be coming back to—next time on a Saturday to enjoy the live music. Highly recommended!
Efrain S — Google review
We visited on a long weekend and, while we expected it to be busy, the service was exceptionally slow. It took a full hour for our food to arrive after we ordered. Strangely, our appetizer didn't come out beforehand but was served at the same time as our main courses. The ambiance was decent, with nice decor and live music. However, the music was so loud that it made it very difficult to hold a conversation. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest letdown. The flavors were one-dimensional and lacked any depth. The lobster was extremely salty and overcooked, and the risotto was quite bland. The only enjoyable part of the meal was the shrimp. Given the high price point, the experience was definitely not worth it. We will not be returning.

A Green Oasis with Delicious Italian! This Italian restaurant is incredibly welcoming, truly a green oasis filled with beautiful houseplants of all sizes. The menu is nicely crafted, and while vegetarian options aren't abundant, there's definitely enough to choose from. We absolutely loved the ravioli and the pizza we ordered. But the real standout? The focaccia bread! It was hands down the best we've ever had, amazing with the oil and vinegar. This is a must-try place for anyone looking for a delightful Italian meal in a charming setting!

Amazing experience here at Fattoria E Mare. We were welcomed by the host & were sat quickly. Our server was super friendly & helpful when it came to explaining the different dishes & drinks on the menu. Drinks were phenomenal. The food presentation & palate were amazing. 100% would be back. Ps. Don't forget to order the Focaccia.

Read up a lot on this place + all the advertisements for this place, I had high hopes and expectations but I came in Monday with a reservation at 12pm, it seems they were quite unprepared, the inside smelled like the bathrooms which no surprise, no wonder no one wanted to sit inside. Our server was extremely unattentive, I don't remember her name but she had brown hair and short, rather youngish. She only checked on us a few times, would hardly come to us despite us being right in front of the entrance. It took a min of 10mins to get a hold of our server by which, I didn't even want to order anything else anymore other than wait nearly 20mins for our bill. I came here for the pasta cooked in the cheese wheel, couldn't find it on the menu so I settled for the 3 course course lunch special, only to find out that the cheese wheel pasta was indeed available but by request only. I may come again but it certainly won't be with reservations anymore since it didn't seem to matter as the staff seemed unprepared anyways. The food we ordered were pretty decent, I would entertain a 2nd visit only because I want to try the cheese wheel pasta but other than that, I'd look at other restaurants around the area. Was a big disappointment after waiting a month just to dine here.

I made a reservation for Brunch for my 48th Anniversary. We were seated at the booth seats near the open kitchen. Honestly we should have opted to sit outside since it's a beautiful sunny Sunday but my husband has a back problem and we choose the comfortable seat. But the air was quite smokey from the kitchen that I have to open the front door. The waitress came to take our order about 5 minutes after we were seated at 12:40 pm. We ordered everything together including the desert and tell her to bring it as they are ready. About 10 minutes later she came with the foccacia and oil/ vinegar dip. At this time my husband ordered a glass of orange juice. She never came back with the orange juice so I have to ask another waiter and he bring it right away. The appetizers came half hour later and the main dishes almost an hour later. Thing is it's not even crowded. So I decided to look at the review. The main complain is that they are exceptionally slow. After waiting for another 15 minutes for dessert we decided to cancel it. Its only a toasted bread pudding with ice cream after all. Then they brought it right away and did not charge for it. How is that? Any way all the food we ordered were great except for the corn beef hash. Its soupy. The best was the waffle. Nice and crunchy outside and soft inside. Overall its ok. They just need to speed up the service.

Turkish restaurant
Ciya Mediterranean Cuisine is a bustling spot with a lively atmosphere and friendly staff. The restaurant offers high-quality Turkish coffee served in special cups to keep it hot constantly. The menu features delicious and fresh options like the Ciya wrap and Lamb-beef gyro, both generously sauced. Customers appreciate the accommodating service, with one diner noting the kitchen's flexibility in meeting dietary needs. While some find portion sizes slightly small for the price, others rave about the tasty and flavorful food.
I figured that many 5 star ratings on Google couldn’t possibly be wrong and well, they are not. Food was excellent all around. I particularly liked the kofte, and the hummus was some of the creamiest I’ve had. Staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. Sadly they were all out of a lamb shank special and the feta rolls, so we will definitely be back.

As soon as we stepped inside we were greeted very warmly and seated. Service was great throughout our dining here and food was so good. We got the appetizer sampler, special lamb shank and the beef and gyro plate and they were all 10/10. Renee gave us great service and we were very happy here. We came here for the good reviews and they did not disappoint. Would recommend and definitely come back!

We had an amazing dinner at Ciya Mediterranean Cuisine in Half Moon Bay! Everything looked and tasted incredible — beautifully plated, fresh, and full of flavor. The kebab was perfectly grilled and juicy, the rice and hummus were delicious, and the salad added a refreshing touch. The lamb shank was tender and rich, paired so well with the bulgur and vegetables. You can really tell that everything is made with care and quality ingredients. For dessert, we tried the künefe with Turkish coffee, and it was the perfect ending to the meal — warm, sweet, and comforting. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It felt like a real Mediterranean experience right here in Half Moon Bay. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the area — we’ll be back soon!

I went to Ciya Mediterranean Cuisine recently and was honestly surprised by how authentic and flavorful the food was. I almost never finish my entire meal when I eat out, but this time I didn’t leave a single bite behind—that’s how good it was . The flavors tasted homemade and truly Mediterranean. The service was just as impressive. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and made the whole experience feel comfortable and genuine. Overall, amazing food and amazing people. I’d definitely go back and recommend it to others.

I’ve tried a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants, but this one really stood out — their signature fish dish was next level! It was so good I almost licked the plate clean 😅 only the head survived. Perfect flavor, perfectly cooked, and served with real care. Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! 🐟🔥

This is a very good restaurant in half moon bay. Ciya Mediterranean has exceptional food and service. We will definitely return to eat here. The sampler appetizer plate was so delicious and I got to try a little of everything vegetarian. 😋😋😋 I will order the same thing when I make it back to half moon bay. My husband ordered the chicken gyro plate. He loved it. 😋😋 We highly recommend eating here. Thank you Renee for your generous customer service. Everyone was very nice. It made our experience even nicer.

I’ll admit I was a little hesitant at first — sometimes when a place has too many glowing reviews, it can feel almost too good to be true. But I’m really glad my partner and I gave Ciya a try. The food was genuinely flavorful, and there’s clearly care in every dish. The staff was kind and attentive without being over the top. I recommend starting with the appetizer sampler— it’s a great variety and definitely worth it while you wait for your main dish. One small tip: if you’re sensitive to the taste of tap water, go for bottled. Other than that, everything was spot-on. Hoping the quality and hospitality stay just as strong — this place is a gem.

Breakwater Barbecue is a popular spot in the Bay Area, known for its generous food portions and attentive staff. The ribs are particularly recommended, and visitors often find the wait times manageable despite the limited seating. Many patrons have praised the quality of the meats, with some noting that they can be a bit dry at times but still satisfying. Overall, it's considered a must-visit for BBQ enthusiasts in the area.
Great new space off Highway 1. Texas-style barbecue in Half Moon Bay Area in small town of El Granada. Food is absolutely legit! Burnt ends banh mi is delicious and the brisket chili is absolute perfection! Smoked brisket by the 1/2 lb was so tender and melted as I picked it up with a fork. I don’t know how they sliced it without it breaking up. The pork ribs were great per my wife! I would not recommend the mini loaf cornbread for $5 because it is definitely not worth $5. The size of it is like the cornbread Boston market used to sell. I think they were $1 when they were around. I am definitely coming to this barbecue joint regularly from now on to try everything eventually! I am so glad they picked this vacant spot because now they will get even more attention from drivers on Highway 1 that will see the long lines out the doors.
Winston D — Google review
If you order take out, and you do it online, keep this in mind...They do NOT have curbside pickup. Next, they do NOT provide anything to carry orders out in. When I picked up my order, I was handed three (3) loose boxes with my order. I get that they may be trying to be green, but there are green options that don't have food boxes sliding across the back of my car. Ok...for the food. It was OK. Not great, but OK. We had their Brisket Cheesesteak. I had their fries and we shared an order of their appetizer Brisket Street Tacos. First, the tacos weren't an appetizer, it was a full meal. You can see the pictures attached. It was a huge order. The cheesesteaks were dry and the meat looked like it went through a blender. What I mean there is that it was all very finely chopped which didn't make sense for a sandwich as EVERYTHING fell out as soon as you picked it up. Lastly, everything was quite salty. With BBQ, you should expect a little salt especially if they are using dry rubs. But...it tasted like someone took a big shaker to the fries and meat because it was too much salt. This was our first try with them as they just recently opened and I truly hope someone can be successful in that location. I just don't know that we will eat there again.
Bob D — Google review
The sides were fantastic. The BBQ was, by my admittedly very high BBQ standards, good but not great. The brisket was dense, had a nice bark, and was tasty, but didn't achieve the tenderness of excellent brisket. I wanted to love it but could only like it. Don't get me wrong, I'd eat there if I was going to be on that side of the peninsula, but I wouldn't go there for that alone.
Bruce M — Google review
We were able to grab a seat up at the bar. Both bartenders on duty were super sweet and fun. The staff in general here were all so welcoming, pleasant, and helpful. The brisket is pretty dang good. Juicy and flavorful with that yummy crust on it. Of all the bbq places in a 50 mile radius, this one is up there in taste and quality. Thumbs up on the chunky potato salad, cheesy mac, and chili sides. The sauces are unique too. I think one of them was carrot based?
Angela S — Google review
I ordered a brisket sandwich and they gave me a sandwich with shredded ground beef for $17. I wish they would’ve told me they ran out of brisket so I would have ordered something else, super disappointed. Service was also very slow. The old location was so much better, always had good food and great service, not coming back even though it’s down the street.
Brenda L — Google review
Meat wasnt juicy enough on the lean and was slightly cold (but that mightve been because of waiting for other table food sharing people). Its a meal for 2-3. Cornbread was messed up and undercooked from another meal. Mac n cheese was good. Ribs and Brisket could've been better. Barbecue sauce at the table felt watered down.
M — Google review
Oh. My. Goodness... This place was a delicious life-saver. We were on a road trip down Highway 1, and had already skipped a few places that didn't pique our curiosity. The sign for BBQ did. The menu had several options, they all looked delicious but we settled on a few: The Brisket Burger. The Wings. Fries and slaw. Root beer (They have a bar available FYI) Halfway through the meal my husband mentioned to me I was doing my "Good Food" dance. After hours on the road it was great. The service was also excellent, and folks who stopped in seemed cheery and added to the atmosphere. A cure for hangry. Put it on your pit stop list.

The menu features California-Italian cuisine using local farm-fresh ingredients, complemented by an extensive wine list from various regions. The restaurant provides an authentic Italian dining experience with succulent dishes like braised beef ribs and polenta.
We happened upon “It’s Italia” for a Sunday brunch while strolling around. We were so happy we did! The food was amazing! We ordered the best ever Crab Omelette with hollandaise sauce! It was incredible!!! And the scones with the fresh lemon curd was delicious too. Other people were eating pastas and pizza. It all looked outstanding! The decor in this place is just beautifully appointed! Every detail is well thought out. Our server Maria was outstanding! Our meal was actually brought out to our table though by the Chef… wow! I don’t recall the last time I’ve had that happen! There is a lovely back patio and bar area too. This place has it all, and prices are reasonable.

As soon as we stepped through this enchanting space , the outside tumult faded away, enveloping us in a captivating atmosphere ✨ .The Mediterranean decor, with its earthy and ochre tones , evoked a scene from an oriental tale , each detail stimulating our senses . A fountain murmured softly , replacing the melody of an absent musician , while the stone walls, with their raw beauty , seemed to whisper secrets from the past . The subdued light , filtered through delicate lanterns and crackling fireplaces 🔥, cast dancing shadows , creating an almost unreal ambiance . Around our table , three friends shared a suspended moment , where laughter and emotions intertwined harmoniously, each flavor savored enhancing the magic of the instant . Seated on the open terrace , we were bathed under a starry black sky , adding an extra touch to this sensory experience and reminding us of the beauty of the outside world while remaining enveloped in this haven of peace 🕊️. It’s Italia, thank you for this enchanting environment. Thank you for transporting us to a parallel world. It was beautiful, it was magical. ❤️

We spent 8 days in California eating at many top restaurants and this little gem was one of the most memorable for many reasons. We had a lovely lunch on a quiet afternoon as our anniversary vacation was coming to an end. Our server was sweet, knowledgeable, bubbly and wonderful. And the food was delicious, especially my peach and burrata salad, and we had a lovely anniversary dessert at the end. I also loved the rustic, quaint atmosphere. It was cozy and perfect. I truly loved this place and if I lived local, it would be my weekly go to spot.

Very good food and excellent service. We had the minestrone soup which was very good. For entree we had the linguine and prawns (tasty, both the prawns and the sauce were delicious), the house rolled gnocchi with gran padano cheese and truffle oil, and the flat bread with butternut squash, caramelized onions and cheese, both were good. The quantity of the main dishes is large, two main dishes are enough for three persons. The complimentary homemade bread with oil and balsamic vinegar was a nice touch. It will be a good idea to serve the flat bread instead, it tastes much better. The atmosphere is very nice, especially in the courtyard.

Fresh and plentiful. Great place to get your seafood fix. Came here at 11am on Sunday right when they opened and there was no wait.

Nothing to see here move along.. The line was long and it was disappointing at the end. First of all they asked me if I wanted fries on the side with my meal but they didn't make it clear that it was an extra $4-7 charge and I felt misled. The price is really expensive for the quality you get but I also understand that they may charge these prices because of the location. I got the house salad and added chicken for more than half the cost of the salad. But the chicken was so dry it was like jerky. The Shrimp Bo Boy sandwich didn't have enough sauce and the shrimp was cold. The chowder bowl was $10 and it was the size of my palm. It was good though. I just hope they make it themselves and didn't heat it up from a can. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe I was just unlucky. But it was bad enough to make me never come here again.
Drawonnoodles — Google review
The seafood is good, we stood in line for about 45 minutes while locals skipped the line and ordered inside. The seafood is worth the price, but everything else is overpriced to prevent spouses and friends from just ordering a burger and backing up the kitchen. Just get some fish with a soda and maybe some sweet potato fries ($4) and you'll be a happy camper. Any questions about the food during ordering seemed to be met with agitation and frustration, but the service was happy and helpful. "Shuddup and order Seafood.". Also, the fish market in the back was nice and seemed like good food. My wife thought the Clam Chowder was very good as well...

Clam-chowder was spectacular! I know certain people can be picky about the texture of chowder, so just know this one is more on the thick side. I went for dinner on a Saturday night and they close at 8, but because it was a slower day they closed early. I would recommend calling ahead to make sure they are open. Many seafood choices!!! I had the seafood linguine, and I have to say it was not the best one I've had. There was no flavor, and mind you I've had actual frutti di mare in Italy. Even with all of the seafood options, there are enough options for a NON-seafood lover. I would definitely come back!

Sushi On Main Street is an elegant Japanese restaurant located in downtown Half Moon Bay, just off the main shopping area on Mill Street. Despite its name, it's not actually situated on Main Street. The restaurant offers a wide range of Japanese fare, including specialty rolls, clay pot noodles, and teriyaki dishes. Oh boy! This was a bit of an adventure, and not just for the exquisitely prepared and served sushi. My date for the evening surprised me and said, we have reservations at a sushi place my client owns, let's go... Well, we went and the drive was a little ways from San Mateo -- no problem, but it was raining unusually hard and it was dark on a winding road! Sounds like the opening of a novel, but it really happened that way. The adventure was topped by a great experience and some interesting anecdotes by the gracious host, chef and proprietor. Great job with all that followed -- yummy sushi, miso soup, and boy were we treated nicely and offered some different types of Japanese cuisine. A great place for a quite dinner -- even on a stormy night. #TheBrokerWithAHeart

I can’t remember the last time I paid $150 for a meal that I left at the table because it was so bad. Looking at other’s positive reviews, I’m hoping it was a bad chef or off night? The tempura batter was heavy and chewy. I got chicken teriyaki and the chicken was awful- pounded to the point of not even tasting like chicken. My partner got the Hot Dragon roll and the tuna was chewy and inedible, and the leaf it’s wrapped in was completely overwho. We told the waitress (who was a gem by the way) and nothing was taken off the bill. Really disappointed.

San Benito House Deli, located in downtown Half Moon Bay, is renowned for its exceptional sandwiches. The key to their delicious creations lies in their homemade bread, freshly baked every day. Customers rave about the quality of the bread and often recommend trying it. Despite being a bit pricey, patrons find that the food's consistency and taste justify the cost. The deli also offers a variety of soups made with high-quality ingredients and served in eco-friendly packaging.
This is our go-to spot for a fantastic sandwich in Half Moon Bay. They bake their bread daily, and my personal favorite is the marble rye bread paired with the roast beef. The line moves swiftly, and there are plenty of seating options to enjoy your sandwich.

I’ve been a customer at San Benito Deli for the past 12 years, and it’s still the only place I go when I’m craving a really good sandwich. As a vegetarian, I appreciate that they have a couple of great options — their olive walnut bread is hands down my favorite and my go-to every time. I’m honestly obsessed with this place. They bake their bread fresh daily, and you can taste the difference — everything feels so fresh and homemade. Don’t miss out on their chocolate or lemon pie either; I always grab one (or two!) to take home. You can enjoy your sandwich on their patio or take it with you to the beach just a few minutes away. Definitely recommend and will keep coming back for many more years!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the San Benito House Garden Café in Half Moon Bay, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! 🌸 From the moment I walked in, I was charmed by the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The garden setting is simply beautiful, with lush greenery and vibrant flowers creating a serene and relaxing environment. It's the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a meal. The food was fantastic! I ordered the roasted beef sandwich on olive walnut bread, and it was absolutely mouthwatering. The beef was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the unique and tasty bread. We also ordered a hazy IPA, which was the perfect refreshing accompaniment to our meal. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh. Overall, the San Benito House Garden Café is a gem in Half Moon Bay. Whether you're looking for a peaceful place to enjoy a meal or a charming spot to catch up with friends, this café is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and try more of their delicious offerings!

Jersey Joe's Coastside is a popular spot for classic sandwiches, including hoagies, burgers, and Philly cheesesteaks. With a cozy atmosphere, it is a go-to place for locals seeking an alternative to seafood or burgers. Their cheesesteaks are consistently delicious and their garlic fries are a tasty addition. It's the perfect place to refuel after a challenging hike in the hills.
The food here was awesome. Everything the family ordered was great. The positive Google Maps reviews led us to try it on our family vacation. The cheese steaks we delicious. Their fries are amazing! The perfect amount of crisp and the right amount of oil. Enjoyed the chili cheese fries, too. Def recommend and would love to go back. Also, glad we overlooked it looking empty. There were people on the other side of the restaurant.

This place was great!! Really good cheesesteak and burger and would come again for sure. The tater tots were very salty though, and the ranch was just a 5.5/10 on my standards. This seems like a perfect place to take your child after a sporting game, or to watch a sports game in half moon bay. The one thing I couldn’t handle was the paper napkins, they sucked and it made me angry. I used 7+, just to eat a cheesesteak. But again, I would come back! Great for when you’re in the mood for a lil burger or cheesesteak.

Incredible value for the money. I ordered the 6 inch tuna salad sandwich and a half order of their seasoned curly fries. The amount of food could have fed three! Food was very tasty and seasoned perfectly! Will visit again!

You order at the counter and seat yourself. The menu has a lot of options. I always like when there’s photos of the food to help me choose which is why I post reviews/photos especially for spots that have me checking online when their menus don’t have them. $20 for this sandwich seemed a little much but I didn’t realize how big it would be. It lasted me for 3 meals! Next time I’m in the area I will come back.

I go to a lot of cheesesteak places and this is the best cheesesteak place. I swear to God I've ever been to the staff was amazing. The cheesesteaks came out to die for

Good cheesesteaks. Yup, that's all I really have to say. We've been missing Jersey Joe's ever since the one close to us closed down, so this was pretty nostalgic. You definitely get what you pay for. One of my family members complained that their sandwich wasn't salty enough and had to add some salt, but mine tasted fine. Very filling lunch after a poor breakfast. Overall, 4/5.

Fun atmosphere. Good quality burgers. It says the hamburger is grass fed grain finished. The fries were 7 out of 10, the California burger I’d give an 8.2 out of 10. Overall a great burger. I would love to try the cheesesteaks another day. Would recommend you try it out.

Grabbed some fries and totes before we fought the traffic back to San Mateo on Saturday. Added cheese our curly fries and it was a whole 2 dollars extra LOL....I feel like they didn't have an option for that so they added like a small cheese fries to it...We also asked for ranch and it was forgotten. Besides that it was alright I guess Food: 5/10 Value: 5/10

Local HMB shop with a fabulous selection of domestic and imported wines. Reasonable prices and expert service. Friendly wine bar and outstanding cheese selection. I met the owner just the other day, very nice woman named Carrie (sp?)

Fantastic wine and cheese shoppe. Aside from the extensive wine offerings, the shoppe has cheeses (of course) and other items that make excellent gifts for oneself or others. The specialty wine bags are fun and the mini fondue pots are also great. I love the whale’s tail cutting board. A clean, tidy, top notch shoppe!

From across the country, I ordered a charcuterie board for a very special couple who was visiting Half Moon Bay this past weekend. It was beautifully crafted and was such a delightful surprise for the couple. They sent me a picture. Thank you so much for taking good care of this order, being so easy to work with, and delivering it to them!

Rude staff, terrible service and everyone that was wine tasting seemed miserable. My husband and I stopped in to taste some wine and were blatantly ignored and not offered a menu. After waiting a long time and being treated rudely we decided to leave because there are many better options in the Half Moon Bay Area to have a more enjoyable experience.

Nice place in the heart of downtown half-moon bay They have got some really good wines for rating on the bright whites menu (I didn't try the others) Really nice server at the bar. Glad to be able to use my 15% off yelp coupon for tasting and cheese. You get three 2oz portions in each flight. Good music nice clean interior. The lady was kind enough to let me choose my own cheese and added fig jam and crackers

Nice wine and cheese shop in Central Downtown the only downside is the staff isn't very accommodating. Yes they have lots of wine selections and yes they have a lot of wine accessories but after visiting a few times I've just noticed that the staff isn't very accommodating they tend to say no more than yes they tend to have a lot of rules. If you're looking for a nice place for you and your date maybe this could be fun. But don't count on having a lot of great conversations with the staff.

We’ve visited this wine tasting room for years when visiting HMB and checked it out last week. We are fans of TJ Rodgers Pinot...and keep in mind, my husband and I have a long history with semiconductor, including TJ and Cypress. We had an opportunity to attend an exclusive tasting at his home early 2000s (est) comparing the most expensive French wines to his Pinot. Super impressed by his wine processing… super tech at the time we were there. This wine shop offers many options including TJ’s personal wines (he owns this tasting room). We’ve had a good experience over the years but was annoyed by this last visit. The attendant behind the counter was enthralled with the two gals tasting. The customers were rude and had a biting attitude. The attendant had not recognized our existence..,, until my husband I took a lot of interest in TJs wine, in particular. I was ready to leave until she said…. “Did you want to taste his wine”? I am all about customer service and ambiance and environment that invites you to experience the wine room. I told her how annoyed I was and ready to leave. She recalibrated and adjusted to our needs. We ended up purchasing two bottles of TJ’s wine but I was ready to leave and not buy anything. Not sure who they cater to - locals or vacationers.
Bridget — Google review
Decent selection of wines and cheeses, but the cheese they served on the cheese plate I ordered didn't match what was on the menu (got a basic Mt. Tam from Cowgirl Creamery instead of the advertised French brie), and service to me and my friend was noticeably distant compared to other customers. I wonder why.

Sam's Cafe is a no-frills breakfast and lunch diner that offers classic dishes like pancakes, sandwiches, and burritos. Visitors rave about the excellent service and friendly staff, as well as the delicious food. The homemade hot sauce is particularly popular among patrons. Whether you're in the mood for a flavorful chowder or a satisfying albacore fish melt, this local spot has something for everyone.
Came to give this eatery a try as I came into Half Moon Bay. Service was excellent, my servers were very polite and attended to our requests as kindly as possible. It did not take a long time for our orders to arrive at our table, and the food was delicious. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs with house fries, and I savored every bite. I’ll admit I was a tad skeptical about the large potato dice, and was anticipating that the taters weren’t cooked well, but I was wrong. They were delicious, and surely complemented the eggs and hash, too! I ordered a pancake on the side, and my perception was that they were from a box mix due to the texture and flavor. However, it doesn’t dismiss the fact that the pancake was still tasty. If ever I return here to Half Moon Bay, I would love to come back here, maybe even for lunch!
David M — Google review
Great service! Prices are above average, probably reflecting the tourist area of HMB. Food itself was good, though portions were smaller than expected. Not as good of a value as previous reviews suggest. Will try another diner in HMB next time.

Great chowder. Can really taste the potatoes, clams, bacon and celery. Rich creamy base. Exactly what a classic chowder needs to be. Warm buttered French bread comes with it, instead of the packaged crackers. Nice. Sleep cafe with service to match. Very modestly priced. Will come again.

Great breakfast and fast service! Prices were a little higher than what the outdated menu said, but the food itself was very good and the orange juice was very fresh!

From the outside, Sam’s doesn’t look like much, but inside, it’s cozy and inviting. A classic breakfast spot. Nothing fancy. We had the Eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros—both were good. Portion sizes were good. However, in my opinion, the prices are quite high for a classic breakfast. The Huevos Rancheros was $20 and the eggs Benedict were $19. A cup of tea is $4. To me that is a little steep.

I work in HMB a day or two every few weeks. I have been here 3 times and it is a cute place, sometimes with live music. The first time, I waited about 5 minutes to be served even though it wasn't busy and the women behind the counter saw me. They were doing something, so I was patient, though I felt one should have come to serve the customer. Finally one of them came over, with no apology for the wait. I just had a latte, which was fine. I returned another day and nobody was behind the counter. Another customer said "She's in the back", so I waited. After about 5-7 minutes two people came out from the back. I wondered why they didn't leave one person to help customers. I got an Americano and it had too much water, so I was disappointed that it was weak. I had used my own cup (I like that they allow this) but I wish she had been able to guage how much water to add. I also had the Avocado toast with egg. It was very good and nicely seasoned, but I though a bit small for $12. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the toast, if not the Americano. The last time I went, there was another customer with a toddler waiting and I thought she had already ordered. I waited more than 5 minutes with the two ladies working behind the counter, looking up and not acknowledging me. Maybe because I'm not a regular? I don't know. I had enough of being ignored, so I didn't say anything and left at that point. As I walked out, I heard the other customer say "Is someone going to take my order?" I have no idea how long she had been waiting, but she was there when I arrived. There are a number of good cafes in HMB, so next time I will go to a different one. I don't like to write a negative review for a small business, but I hope they read this because ignoring customers is not good.
Alicia F — Google review
It's a very cozy Cafe. I loved the decorations. We sat in the corner by the window. There were lots of bakery items. Coffee is good. I also had the iced tea. It's a tiny place so go there when it is not busy. There's only one table outside. I think the whole point is to enjoy the atmosphere, but good luck getting a table. It is not for big groups, but you can get stuff to go. The staff is so nice and amazing!

Super sweet baristas, they were so kind. Their coffee is a bit expensive, but so delicious, with many different flavors like lavender, hazelnut, and vanilla. The inside is really cute, lots of art. They have indoor and outdoor seating, great place for homework. Their bathroom has some wack architecture but it's very cool.

If you seek a tranquil restaurant with convenient street parking after a picturesque sunset or a relaxing day at the beach in Half Moon Bay, consider Spice Me Thai Cuisine. Cute little restaurant away from the busy downtown Half Moon Bay area. I ordered the Larb salad and they were able to make it with tofu instead of meat which was awesome! I ordered spice level 3 out of 5 and that was perfect (for me). Customer service was really friendly and helpful, the restaurant was very clean also!

This was a great find for me because I prefer the legit small restaurant feel and that's what I got. The service was quick, very polite and they helped me make up my mind on what to order. The food was super good, you could taste the spice, but not overwhelming. If you are a fire breather, you would need to request more spice. Portion was more than I could eat in one sitting, but I got it boxed up and all was good. Great service. Helpful and attentive, but not hovering.

Eat here... Can't say anything bad about this place. The volcanic beef is the best .. not very spicy but extremely flavorful. Also the ginger fish is good. Is we come back to the area we are going to decently eat here again.
Doug G — Google review
Ordered the garlic mixed seafood entree, drunken noodles with beef and papaya salad. Everything texturally was spot on but the flavors were relatively muted and definitely catered to a more western palette. Wished they would incorporate more spice or offer some spicy sauce on the side. Food came out quickly for our takeout order which was appreciated.

Decent Thai place in Half Moon Bay! Food taste amazing, the service is fast and the prices are reasonable. We opened it for ourselves craving for good meal after a long active day on the beach and it didn’t disappoint. The food was great and tasty, but the 1-hour wait after ordering was too long. Yum!! We came in for the bagel sandwiches and they did not disappoint. We will definitely be retuning for more of those. The coffee was alright, a pretty light blend in our opinions, but still good, lots of fun and unique flavor options. We really liked how customizable the bagels are, and we came closer to the close of the shift and they still had enough bagel flavor options available.

The drip coffee didn't have much of taste. The bagel was regular and fine. The veg scramble was hot and fresh and without any salt though and I already drove off with the bagel sandwich in the box. Oh well The bathroom was neat and clean and they have nice simple decor with lots of elephants.

Their bagels are perfection! Wow! I had a The Works with bacon on an everything bagel and it was so delicious. I had a latte on oat milk which was equally as tasty. My husband had the lox bagel with onion and capers and was very happy with it. The only downside is the fact that everything is served in to-go containers - even when you dine in.

Small coffee shop just off the main road/freeway. Had such a chill and fun vibe, loved the decor inside. It gave off a very elegant and “cool” feel. I wanted to just sit on the couch and enjoy my coffee as I stared out the window. Loved the specialty menu. Had a caramel honey latte and it was definitely a 10/10. Creamy, smooth, tasty, everything a coffee should be like. I came in right before they were closing so they didn’t have much pastries. Did not try the breakfast, but the menu looked like it offered a lot of variety. Overall, I recommend it!

Incredible latte. Super smooth from a great blend of coffee. Farmhouse bagel was excellent. In addition to their restaurant, they also operate a popular food truck that serves traditional Peruvian and Mexican dishes, drawing long lines for their bountiful ceviche and other offerings. Customers rave about the flavorful burrito bowl, shrimp burrito, and Jalea Peruana. The food is reasonably priced with generous portions, making it a great option for both quick snacks and full meals.

I went today to enjoy a ceviche by the beach. I have been there last year and it was ok. But I don't know what happened to this place.. Ceviche was not good at all. I ordered limeño and mixto. Fish was with scales and hard membranes, corn and sweet potato was hard undercook. And worst of all it didn't have enough lime. I am peruvian and I feel bad thinking other people try this and think this is how peruvian Ceviche should taste. Chicha morada wasn't great either. We were lucky to find a gelato store near by to take that bad after taste

Family-owned Peruvian Restaurant. We tried the Saltado with Beef Tenderloin and the Beef Empanadas. The Beef Tenderloin is tender and delicious. The empanadas are flaky and filled with seasoned ground beef. Everything is fresh-tasting. My wife and I shared this meal and it was much more than two of us could eat.

Great Peruvian food outside of Peru! The fried pork , plantains and the ceviche are all good. It is also a plus when the price is reasonable compared to many other Peruvian spots in the Bay Area. Follow my friends recommendation, we get the food to go and ate them at the brewery next door where we got some drinks with the food.

My friend and I love Peruvian food, we’ve gone to El Cerrito, SF Mission, Pacifica and Half Moon Bay (Lamas). Lamas is located inside of the shopping center, absolutely delicious food! The food is flavorful and authentic we get the Lomo Saltado usually with chicken or beef, rice, fries and an addictive sauce. Perfection! We’ve tried a lot of different items on the menu and everything tastes great and has flavor! This place gets walked by often and people seem to go to the fancy Peruvian spot outside instead I forgot the name of the place but it has hostesses and white table cloths but if you want real flavor and feel like you spent your money well, feel full and satisfied after a meal-try Lamas. I’ve never left this place feeling regretful I leave feeling full, like I spent my money well and like I look forward to returning to try new items on their menu. Staff is very friendly, too!

This is the closest to Peruvian Food that I have found in the Bay Area. I have eaten in several restaurants, really expensive "gourmet" food but it does not come close the "criollo" taste that you can get from the Jalea Peruana or Ceviche Limeño. I've just eaten in the lunch truck outside and even though I was thrown off by the Peruvian / Mexican Cuisine Name, I will eat at this place even if it takes 1 hr driving. Love it! If you already tried plenty of restaurants around San Francisco, Oakland, just give it a try. It may become your favorite spot (plus you can go to the beach).

This hotel is situated on a picturesque golf course designed by Arnold Palmer overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There is a great cliff walk that we took each morning and highly recommend. The view is truly spectacular and never gets old during the stay. The hotel is great shape all around. I loved the club level at this property and the morning coffee service in the lobby. The staff were outstanding and always helpful. The spa was a perfect spot to recharge-it had a cold plunge, sauna, steam room, and sanctuary. This hotel has all the bases covered and is true 5-star experience. I highly recommend adding this property to your luxury travel list.

The staff are really lovely and of course this is a world class location. Our key complaint is the room amenities, evening service and air conditioning at the Ocean House Coastal Room. We arrived late at night on a Thursday and were told we have private guest room away from the main hotel and would not need help with luggage as we could park right outside our room. After driving down to the hotel room we find out we are on an upper floor of the guest room annex and that there’s no elevators - just an outdoor stair case that we had to carry our own luggage up in the dark—pretty shocking for a Ritz at nearly $2k per night. The room was lovely, with an absolutely stunning ocean and golf course view BUT the windows only open about 3 inches! There’s a block to prevent them from opening further which prevents any experience of the ocean breeze at night. Because it was so incredibly warm in the evenings, we had to use the air conditioning - BUT it is also blocked to 65degrees as the lower limit. The second day we asked maintenance to address this, they were able to allow the thermostat down to 60 BUT the air conditioner is not strong enough to actually cool the room beyond 66 degrees. Many studies show that for optimal sleep a room should be at the most 62 degrees at night. The bed covers were also winter covers —subsequently we had terrible night’s sleep for the first two nights. We are here for one more night and the staff kindly gave us a fan to see if that will help—no offer to change us to a room with air con that is powered to actually cool the room though. Frankly I’m pretty shocked that a high class hotel like this has such challenges with basic maintenance.

Super impressive 5 star luxury resort. The grounds are kept very neat and tidy. Staff is impeccable with their courtesy and attention (top down, all around - 5 stars). The rooms are spacious and the amenities are upscale (diptyque, anyone?). Great space for a retreat, getaway, and scenery. You really feel like you've been transported to relax and think.

We had a wonderful stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. From the moment we arrived, the staff took such great care of us and made our visit feel truly special. Our ocean-view room was beautiful and offered stunning views of the coastline — a perfect place to unwind. We enjoyed an excellent meal at the restaurant, and the afternoon walk along the cliffs was breathtaking, especially as we watched the bagpiper perform during sunset — such a magical touch that makes this place one of a kind. One of the highlights for my son and me was spending time at the putting range in the afternoon, practicing golf together while enjoying the ocean breeze. It’s a memory we’ll always treasure. This is a remarkable property — elegant, welcoming, and full of thoughtful details. We can’t wait to return.

The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay Guest Relations Team went above and beyond for the entire stay. They helped me pull off a few surprises and helped to make it one of the best vacations ever. Extremely accommodating and felt welcomed the entire time. The valet's attire and their attitude were so memorable and kind. We made sure to get back by sunset each night so we didn't miss the bagpiper's performance. Housekeeping was very attentive and the chocolates were a welcome treat each time. Loved going on bike rides with the bikes provided. Concierge were very helpful with choosing restaurants in the cute little downtown area. Beautiful Property and would definitely come back.

Service level and experience has dropped dramatically. I came here for a 10th anniversary about 10 years ago and had a great experience. Accordingly, I brought some work colleagues this time. Terrible experience. The staff had a pompous attitude (valet and bar especially). Bar area was boring and uninspired. Place felt completely dead. We enjoy the Ritz Carlton generally, but, unfortunately, no longer this one. I travel often enough to be a Marriott Titanium member, so, I’ve seen good and poor service over the years. Unfortunately, Marriott’s service levels generally have dropped.

Th Ritz in half moon bay doesn’t disappoint. Our yearly visit for the Portuguese crap ciopino with friends. We stayed in a cottage overlooking the ocean. Second floor and what a glorious day it was. The cottage was beautiful. Foyer with half bathroom then living room with TV. Then through the French doors there’s another couch and bed. His and hers closet with huge steam shower, his and hers vanities and large soaker tub- absolutely gorgeous with marble floors throughout. There facility is stunning. Two incredible golf courses, pickleball, tennis courts and pool. The only bummer of the trip was the trail was closed due to construction. A large crane was preventing people from walking the trail and it was in the way during the sunset depending where you were. If we go back we will want to make sure they don’t have construction going on. Other than that it was a great weekend trip.

Truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed with incredible views. The entire property is immaculate and well-maintained. The golf course is stunning, and the tennis courts are a great bonus for active guests. The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and elegantly presented. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, professional, and attentive. A perfect destination for relaxation, luxury, and top-tier service. Highly recommended!

Breakfast restaurant
Nestled in a charming corner, The Press is a delightful café that has become a favorite breakfast spot for many. With an array of tempting pastries and quick service, it’s the perfect place to start your day. Upon entering, you’ll place your order and then help yourself to coffee while finding one of the limited seats available.
The food was incredible and they had such a nice staff. I got an iced chai and by far one of the best I’ve had. Then for the service I had ordered sausages and noticed they didn’t come for a while. After I mentioned it they immediately made new ones and even gave me a free cookie even though I didn’t expect anything. Great service! Atmosphere is also really nice. Very nice in doors and beautiful outdoor seating

We stopped at The Press on our way up to San Francisco. I got the lox bagel, and my friend got an omelette. Both of us were a bit disappointed with our meals – while they were edible, they unfortunately were fairly lackluster in terms of flavor and texture. The outdoor area was nice, but I can't say the food did it for us!

Stopped by this place for breakfast, and it was just okay. The server who took my order seemed a bit grumpy, which didn’t set a great tone. The food was fine — nothing memorable or special. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but not sure if it’s worth a return visit.

Spent the night in Half Moon Bay at the harbor. This place is a very short walk from our hotel. Food was very good. The loaded bagels were good. I had the basic eggs and bacon and they did not skimp on the bacon. Lots of food for the price. Fresh squeezed oj was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend.

The Best Service and the Best Food! Remember to be kind to the workers it's covid! Such a cute place and ate inside since we didn't want to wait. Remember to sit once you order and told a number do NOT seat yourselves. Best Huevos Rancheros. Great home made salsa with a good kick and the flavors were on point Poached eggs with prosciutto it was different but good but maybe a different meat would of been better. The chumchurri was good tho. Love this place and the staff ❤️

Street parking because of the street corner service, but it’s really good and the price is much cheaper than that in the Bay Area. I really like the roasted toast and when I wanted to take the picture, it was eaten by my child :D . Btw, there are always many customers and seats are limited.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience, "What A Meals" is an absolute must-visit. Nestled in a charming location, this restaurant serves up an array of authentic dishes that are not only visually appealing but also bursting with flavor. Imagine savoring steaming bowls of wonton soup filled with succulent pork dumplings and shrimp or indulging in a mountain of basil-studded pad kee mau.
Before writing this review, I was scrolling through the other reviews, and I can't really say much that the other reviews have not stated already about this place. I was so happy to see all the rave reviews - they deserve it!! I absolutely love the people here, so welcoming and wonderful, and the food is simply amazing. I was lucky enough to live in Thailand for a period of time, and it is usually pretty disappointing when I try to get Thai in the states - pricy and flavors are lacking. Not at What a Meals! Keep it up, we love you being here!

I don't know why our dinner at What A Meal was not very good. Maybe it was because the chef had a day off. The service was excellent, but the dishes we ordered were from bad to below average. We came to What A Meals because of their outstanding reviews, but everyone in our group is disappointed.
Michael W — Google review
We were surprised to find this really delicious and authentic Thai food in the Half Moon Bay Area. We had some of the noodle soups and they were delicious. To top it off the prices were extremely reasonable. The staff were also friendly and hospitable as well. Would highly recommend.

Delicious and straightforward. Highly recommend. If you're used to American portion sizes, you'll think the portions here are a bit small. It's affordable, so just order an extra appetizer! We loved the tom yum and fried wontons.

Such great reviews but The only thing good I could honestly stay about this place is the service was really good. Yes the food was inexpensive but the portion size was so small you're better off going somewhere paying a couple dollars more and getting a real portion the pad woon sen had zero flavor. They don't serve rice with their dishes like some places and one side of rice was $3. So if you go somewhere that's a little more expensive you get the free rice and a Much larger Serving portion. We ( Two of us ) spent over $50 on three dishes and one side of rice And left hungry. Massaman curry and roti is photographed. You can tell how small the portion is by the tiny spoon in the bowl. Very disappointed.

Very enjoyable and heartwarming experience! We went recently for a birthday and the chef, manager, and staff were really accommodating for our request to bring out a surprise dessert for our celebrant 🥭🍨 The food was amazing and had authentic aromas & flavors (we ordered their basil fried rice, wings, and steamed shrimp dumpling). The staff kept our teas topped up and made the whole ordeal an evening to remember - we'll definitely be back! 🍵🍗🍚

Farmers' market
The Half Moon Bay Farmers Market is a must-visit attraction in the area, especially if you're there from April through December. This bustling market takes place every Saturday and offers a wide variety of locally sourced products, including organic produce, baked goods, and artisan crafts. It's an excellent opportunity to mingle with locals and support the farming community while enjoying the positive vibes of the market.
This farmers market is a great extension to downtown Half Moon Bay on Saturdays. Its got a good array of vendors for fruits and veggies and the best French pastries. Not to mention the hummus, tamales, empanadas and Beckmans pie people are a treat for us. Yesterday I got the freshest bunch of basil and delicious heirloom tomatoes (pan pans & zucchinis) from Simms Producers @ $7 - Thank you and later the Lemon Meringue that I just ate was magnifique, too late to make this post (not a disappointment). Oh we couldn't pass up some of the summer fruits pictured green figs and white nectarines so yummy and ripe for $7.

A pretty unpleasant experience. Arrived just after 1:00 to just look at what was going on. Rather than being told that they were closed, the market madam swept us, away with her voice and hands “find your way out of here, find your way out of here”, as if we didn’t comprehend her remarkably rude behavior the first time. No need to ever return.

Nestled just off the bustling Main Street of Half Moon Bay, Blue Dragon Pho is a culinary gem that draws in crowds eager for its vibrant, vegetable-forward pho and delectable noodle bowls. This cozy spot features a frequently changing menu based on fresh ingredient availability, with limited seating available in a serene adjoining courtyard. Diners rave about the generous portions; many find themselves finishing every last bite of their flavorful dishes.
Sandy and Anna. Welcomed us with so much warmth and treated us like we were regulars. Sandy’s passion for infusing ingredients from different cultures added a depth of flavor to her delicious Pho. The hints of lemons grass, and basil activated our taste buds. Sandy’s infused Carnitas were amazing in the Pho and scrumptious as a side order. We will be back to experience more of your delicious food. Thank you🙏🍜🙏
Mike W — Google review
My coworker and I ate here for dinner last night. We had no idea what a surprise we were in for. When we arrived at Blue Dragon, there was a group of firefighters and a mom and her daughter and they were all talking to the owner, Sandy. Sandy introduced us to them as she was making a special meal for the fire fighters and plating it on, literally, a silver platter. They all knew each other and it was so heart warming to see community support each other and come together around food. Sandy gave my coworker and I a taste of her homemade kombucha, which was delicious. I ordered the veggie pho and my coworker ordered the special pho. I’ve eaten a lot of pho in my life and this was hands down the most incredible I’ve ever had. It was so rich, with notes of star anise, large chunks of garlic, and fresh veggies including some that were locally harvested that day. Thank you so much Sandy for your delicious food and warm heart. Can’t wait to come back!

Wow 🤯 We tried the Dragon Pork Noodle Bowl, the Beef Pho Special, the Dragon Tea, Tiger Tea and an off-menu Asian pear kimchi - everything was off-the-charts on flavor, presentation, and freshness. Don’t be deterred by the small pop-up window format - in addition to the talented and friendly staff, the small-scale kitchen is one of the reasons why the food was so incredible. Small batch, made to order. We were also lucky to meet the owner, Sandy - it was a pleasure to hear her story and learn about the inspiration behind her dishes. We can’t wait to go back!

Last month I had one of the most pleasant restaurant experiences of my life. The food at Blue Dragon was great, but Sandy, the owner, was an absolute delight. She was incredibly friendly and fun to talk to. She gave me some home made Cambodian Amok when I told her it was one of my favorites. I was able to bring it back home so I could share it with my family. Sandy also offered a candle with Vietnamese scents of lemongrass and anise. We loved the food, but the Amok and the candle were unexpected delights. We hope Blue Dragon is very successful and sets new standards in hospitality and food. We can't wait to go back and try the amazing food again.

Title: A Flavorful Find: Blue Dragon Pho's Grab-and-Go Goodness If you're craving authentic Vietnamese flavors in Half Moon Bay, look no further than Blue Dragon Pho. Tucked away on Main Street, this hidden gem might not have seating indoors, but it more than makes up for it with its mouthwatering offerings. Blue Dragon Pho is a grab-and-go kind of place, where the focus is squarely on the food. Stepping inside, you're greeted by the intoxicating scent of simmering broth and spices – a sure sign that something delicious is brewing in the kitchen. The menu is concise but packed with options that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. From classic chicken pho to hearty beef noodle soup, there's something for everyone here. And let me tell you, each bowl is a flavor explosion waiting to happen. During my visit, I opted for the chicken pho, and I was blown away by the depth of flavor in every spoonful. The broth was rich and fragrant, the chicken tender and juicy, and the noodles cooked to perfection. It was the perfect antidote to a chilly day, warming me from the inside out with its soul-soothing goodness. But what really impressed me was the attention to detail in every aspect of the food. The ingredients tasted fresh and vibrant, and you could tell that a lot of care had gone into preparing each dish. Despite its humble exterior, Blue Dragon Pho delivers big on flavor – and that's what keeps people coming back for more. So, whether you're in the mood for a quick lunch on the go or a cozy dinner at home, do yourself a favor and swing by Blue Dragon Pho. It may be a kitchen-only operation, but trust me, the food speaks for itself. Grab a bowl, savor the flavors, and prepare to be amazed.

Great food at very affordable prices. We had the pho there and it was delicious. The owner, Sandy, even offered us an off menu item, Cambodian Amok, cod fish wrapped in banana leaves. We traveled with the frozen Amok all the way to the East Coast and it stayed fresh. We steamed it at home and it made for a super delicious meal with some rice. I wish our grocery store frozen food aisles had such fresh, delicious, healthy options (hint: maybe Blue Dragon should look into offering frozen meals too, perhaps on a platform like Gold Belly). We were amazed at how well it traveled. Thank you Sandy for such delicious, healthy, fresh food!

Ordered a dish with peanut sauce ( I think it was the Dragon pork noodle bowl). The flavor was good and the presentation was pretty. Staff was friendly. They ran out of glass noodles so sub vermicelli noodle. Would have preferred the bokchoy blanched. Since it was served raw, the bokchoy was a little too big compared to the other sliced veggies and didn't really go together for the mouth feel. The peanut sauce was either too thick or not warm enough cause it was kind of hard to mix everything together in the bowl. I will try a pho next time.

Stopped by on a cold rainy HMB day and got a hot bowl of chicken pho… it was amazing! Broth was a perfect sweet and spicy balance, meat was tender, and veggies fresh… to top it off, Sandy couldn’t have been nicer, such a gem of a person! Highly recommended.

Taqueria Tres Amigos is a popular Mexican eatery in Half Moon Bay, known for its fresh ingredients and quick service. The menu offers customizable options like burritos, nachos, and tacos. Customers appreciate the all-you-can-eat chips and salsa bar, as well as the generous serving sizes at dinner. The restaurant has been a favorite for many years, with loyal patrons praising the authentic Mexican flavors and large portions at reasonable prices.
Tres Amigos Taqueria in Half Moon Bay is a true gem of the community, serving locals and visitors alike with incredible food and hospitality since 1985. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a charming and rustic atmosphere, highlighted by a vaulted ceiling with shiplap paneling and sturdy sawn lumber beams that give the space a warm, inviting vibe. The restaurant offers fast and efficient service, along with a fun and friendly ambiance. The staff are exceptionally professional, well-dressed, and attentive, even going the extra mile to clear plates off the table when you’re finished. Ordering is easy, and the food comes out quickly without compromising quality. The menu is loaded with delicious options, but the super beef burrito is a standout. Generously portioned, it’s a challenge even for those with a hearty appetite. The flan dessert, served in a convenient foldable box, is a delightful way to end the meal. For drinks, the rice water is refreshing and perfectly complements the flavorful food. The pico de gallo with the corn tortilla chips is another must-try—it’s fresh, zesty, and packed with flavor. Tres Amigos is conveniently located at a prominent corner with plenty of parking and outdoor seating options. However, the interior is so cool and comfortable, thanks to the vaulted ceiling and open doors, that dining inside is a pleasure. Whether you’re exploring the stunning views and beaches of Half Moon Bay or just passing through, this taqueria is a must-visit. The combination of excellent food, welcoming staff, and a charming atmosphere makes Tres Amigos a 5-star experience. Highly recommended!

If you are looking for a delicious Mexican restaurant in Half Moon Bay, look no further! The food is authentic and very tasty! We ordered chorizo, asada, and carnitas tacos, a flauta plate and a super burrito a la Diablo with buche. Each item was sooooo good! The tacos were absolutely loaded with meat and the meat tasted fresh like it was just cooked! The flautas were super crispy and the chicken inside was juicy, not dry. The lettuce was crisp and fresh as well. The beans and rice were also good! The highlight was the burrito a la diabla because the sauce was very tasty. Not too spicy and had a whole lot of flavor!! The buche was very good!! Loved the food! Further, there is a chips and salsa bar that is unlimited. The chips are not the best but they definitely are good to snack on with some pico and salsa! You order at the register and then go find a seat and a server walks around calling out the number until they find you and bring your food to you. They have high chairs.

Price was OK at $12. This hit the spot after beach hopping in Half Moon Bay and is near the 92 junction so it was convenient before driving back home to the peninsula.

Burger King, a well-established fast-food chain renowned for its flame-grilled hamburgers, crispy fries, and delectable milkshakes. The eatery boasts a hygienic dining area that is regularly maintained. Though the service may have initially been sluggish, recent updates indicate notable improvements in efficiency as of January 24th, 2023.
I like burger king, it was clean staff friendly, just a bit of a language barrier

Delicious and good food. we went around San Francisco, Chinatown, Half Moon bay, then we got hungry and looking for something to eat. When I saw this place I was so happy, it could find what I wanted to eat. There is a separate parking space for the disabled

Well, don't come here intending to be a customer and have to go to the bathroom at the same time. Pay first, then get access to the bathroom.... their employees guard the rules with a passion. Your managers should be proud. Sorry, kinda not sorry, I peed on the floor. Sandwich is well put together though.

This is the whopper I just purchased. Although I don’t do fast food often, my Mom requested a quick hamburger for her and Dads dinner tonight. This was what we got to $11. If you can’t see the photo is is one thawed burger with a bun. Nothing on it. No sauce. No pickles. No lettuce. Nothing but a bun and burger. Wow!!

Restroom is only for paying customers. I had to buy something before I was able to use restroom. Not cool. Almost peed my pants waiting in line.

This Burger King is located in Half Moon Bay, CA, in a shopping center where Route 92 intersects Highway 1. I dropped in because I needed a restroom immediately. As I was speed walking into the BK, I noticed the signs posted on the door stating the restrooms are for customers only. I still proceeded. I beelined it to the restroom and it was locked. There was no one in line which was fortuitous. So I quickly ordered a hamburger and then asked to use the restroom. The cashier was polite but a woman of few words, she did not verbally respond to my request. I heard a loud buzzing noise and hightailed it to the restroom. She must have used a mechanism behind the counter to buzz and unlock the door. The restroom was clean but very outdated. The burger was served hot, and it was darn tasty. Classic flame broiled deliciousness. Slight charred patty with a smoky flavor. I ate it on the spot in the dining room. The dining room was super clean, and comfortable.

This place is a typical Burger King, but the accuracy on the drink orders is around 60%.

I've been on a Burger King high since many have been sold to a new company. I don't know if it's true but every burger king I've hit has had quality burgers. Have they improved recently or is it just me?

Subway is a laid-back, counter-service eatery where you can customize your own sandwiches and salads, making it a perfect spot for health-conscious diners. One standout at this location is Rosie, who truly elevates the experience with her hard work and friendly demeanor. She’s knowledgeable about the menu favorites and goes above and beyond to recommend delicious cookies and specials alongside your meal. Her accommodating nature makes every visit enjoyable, ensuring that you'll want to return for more of Subway's fresh offerings!
Rosie is the best food worker in this location. She’s a hardworker and very patient and accommodating to us; she knows what the favorites are and sells the most, she even endorses their best cookies and specials along with the sandwiches we ordered. She’s kind and pleasant to deal with. Thank you so much Rosie! Excellent service! We’ll be back

THEY DONT ACCEPT COUPONS Walked in with a subway coupon and wasn't told until I was ready to pay. Whole reason I came was for the 8$ footling smh service sucked and they got a pile of restaurant equipment blocking the bathroom
Gary T — Google review
Beachgoers, do not stop here. They don't accept any coupons, have horrendous customer service, and make messy sloppy sandwiches. We went in with a 3 foot long for $20 coupon, ended up spending $75 just to eat. Young dude working was super rude and dismissive. Sandwiches were rushed when being made and super messy. Support a local shop or literally anywhere else.

Guy making subway was in so much hurry and was just throwing everything in there as if its a trash bin. I asked for cucumbers and he added pickles. He was not even listening what we want. And he is putting whatever. I asked him to relax and listen and do it but still he was rushing. Very weird

We came in 20 min before closing darker long hair. The guy was in the back, and he didn't even want to come up to the counter to assist us with building sandwich and etc. He was cleaning extremely frustrated that he had to help us. He refused to help other customers behind us at 7:48pm when the store should be open till 8:00 pm. Horrible customer service, won't ever come here!!!!!!!

Well Halloween came early for me at subway today! The person that made my sandwich had the capacity of a zombie, and the speed of a sloth. The person was completely not standing in front of me but elsewhere doing what ever zombies do, where ever they do it! The owner had opened the door for me and it went down hill from there... I told zombie, I mean the sandwich maker, the bread, the length, type and cheese... and yet zombie asked “foot long?” What kind of cheese... I will tell you, I feel bad if this person is of diminished capacity. I believe this person is just not very customer service oriented, and maybe not very nice. I have eaten at this subway once before and didn’t have a great experience that time as well. The workers (people making the sandwiches) don’t seem very happy about there, maybe it’s because customer service isn’t part of their zombie mind set.
David G — Google review
This place is hit or miss. The interior is small, shabby and not put together well, meaning, it's not very inviting once you step through the door. 3 stars for sandwiches though, the owner was attentive and sandwiches were what you'd expect from subway. Overall a good option unless you come across a deadbeat employee.
T M — Google review
Be aware that this location does NOT accept any SUBWAY official coupons or promotions. I didn’t realize it until they cut my bread, so I went ahead with my order. I don’t mind paying the extra. I just worry that since they don’t need to follow website promotions, they also don’t need to follow proper sanitizing protocols and food safety measures set by Subway. To be honest, the reason I choose chain restaurants over local business is that I am almost certain what quality of food I will be getting, especially during a pandemic. But if Subway keep letting stores to set their own rules, it is not just false advertising to customers , but will also lose trust from us customers.
