Bakery
Pie shop
When visiting Julian, California, one of the must-visit spots is the Julian Pie Company. This quaint bakeshop attracts crowds with its delicious pies, cookies, and apple cider donuts. The highlight here is their wide variety of pies, especially the apple pie which has gained quite a reputation. If you find the main shop busy, there's a satellite shop just outside of town in Wynola.
I went to the location to pick up a Dutch apple pie. I was so happy with how it tasted. The quality of the apples, the crust, and the topping is amazing. I love all the flavors that they have for options. I can’t wait to go back.

Great place for pie coffees OK. Go to purple owl if you want good coffee. The pie is amazing patio is awesome Al mode is a must. Try the apple crumble and the natural is really really good

During my visit to Julian, I couldn’t miss the chance to stop by Julian Pie Company — and I’m so glad I did. Their apple pie is an absolute classic: flaky crust, rich apple filling, just the right amount of sweetness, and that homemade taste you can’t forget. I loved it so much that I wished I had bought an extra to take home. The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is friendly, and the pie itself is unforgettable. If you’re in Julian, this is a must-visit spot. It’s not just pie, it’s part of the Julian experience.

Still the 1st stop when we come into the town of Julian! There is usually a line but the employees move fast and are very friendly. We love the boysenberry apple crumble with no topping. You can have ice cream alamode but you don’t need it. The Carmel apple crumble is super sweet and needs coffee ☕️ to wash it down. Don’t forget the apple cider maple donuts to take home!

Love stopping here every time I visit Julian. This is the place that makes the BEST Pies! I always get a big slice of Pie with a Big scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream...SO GOOD!!
Ruth J — Google review
This tiny shop is absolutely amazing. I am addicted to the pie, and I've only had it twice during my visit there. It's so delicious that we decided for my 14-year sober anniversary that we're going to order one and have it shipped to us in Orange County, ca. The staff that were helping us were so polite, and they took the time to answer all of our pie questions.

I planned this trip with my grandkids 3 weeks ago. We love their dutch apple pie which was the main reason for this trip and we were coming from San Diego. Anyways after our shopping through the little shops we went to buy the pies before we headed back home. I ordered 2 Dutch pies left drove back home and we were ready for some pie I went to open the box and they gave us the wrong order I was very disappointed not to mention that the Dutch pies cost a little more. If I didn't live far I would have returned to get our order corrected. The person that gave me the order was Dominic he even checked my receipt. Very dissatisfied with the service I received today. But we did enjoy the view Julian is a beautiful place to visit.
Yolie — Google review
Julian pies are the best… If we lived closer we’d come more often! Happy they have separate (shorter) lines if you buy whole pies! Unfortunately, they had run out of their pumpkin apple pie just before we got there - so that was disappointing as it took years for us to finally visit there again! We ended up getting peach-apple and mixed berry - top it off with cashew yogurt and coconut creme and we’re on cloud nine! 😋

Julian Beer Co. is a laid-back brewery and eatery located in the heart of Julian, California. Situated on Main Street, it offers a spacious barn-style setting with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The venue specializes in handcrafted beers and serves up a variety of casual dining options including BBQ, pizza, sandwiches, and small plates. Visitors can enjoy live music, games, and events while savoring their delicious offerings.
Stopped in with my girlfriend today and had lunch. First of all, I love the laid-back vibe of the restaurant. The food was great. The 1/2 lb beef brisket was fresh, juicy, and fell apart in my mouth. The flavor was on point. We were able to order Cesar salad wraps (off the menu), and those were just as great. Thank you for the friendly service and quick turnaround on our order. We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

What a fun little find! We stopped into Julian Beer Co. Brewery and Eatery after a local shop owner recommended it, and it definitely added to our adventure. This place has a cozy, small-town charm that makes you feel right at home. My husband and I shared the Classico Pizza and a 1/3-pound brisket. Let me just say—the brisket was incredible! Juicy, tender, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The pizza was good with a nice fresh crust, but I probably wouldn’t order the Classico again since the garlic flavor tasted more like garlic salt, which was a bit too salty for me. Still, not bad at all—just not my personal favorite. Overall, this is such a quiet and quaint stop worth checking out. Just a quick tip: there’s no air conditioning, so it’s best to come during the cooler part of the day (unless you’re someone who doesn’t mind the heat!). Keep exploring, keep tasting, and keep the adventure alive!

The best food in downtown Julian. Great atmosphere. Outstanding BBQ. The brisket sandwich was melt in your mouth delicious as was the succulent chicken accompanied by tasty pesto pasta salad and cole slaw. The smoked beef rib and pizzas also looked top notch so I'll have to come back. Decent beer selection. Premium price super premium product.

We went here on a weekday evening to avoid the weekend crowds. There was a short line to order but it went pretty slow. My friends who ordered through the QR code got their orders, especially the drinks, much quicker. If you order from the line, you are given a pager. If you order on your phone using the QR code, you will be notified when you order is ready at the bar. Food is hit or miss. Ordered the BBQ Pie pizza on a friend's recommendation and it was tasty. I do like the crust too. The pepperoni pizza was thinner and delicious too. The garlic artichoke pizza was a hit too. We recommend ordering the pizzas. The ribs were very salty. We didn't even finish half of the order. I do not recommend ordering those at all. I feel like the side dishes like elote and beans were okay. I guess we expected just good old fashioned elote and baked beans but instead got something different and the flavors just weren't working for us.

Beer is amazing!!!! Had to "to-go" one to drink at the campsite. Waitress recommended exactly what I was looking for. Get the brisket!!!!!!!!! At least 2 orders. I wish I can drive back now for it. It's SERIOUSLY that good. (Forgot to take picture. I guess it was that good lol)

Visiting in Julian and didn’t think they would have any vegan options in the small town but they had vegan pizza. It wasn’t showing online but if you call or go there, they have vegan cheese. The pizza was delicious and huge. I will definitely go back.

My husband and I came to the Julian Beer Company to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary on the recommendation of my sister, who had a good experience here. I generally give a lot of grace in my restaurant reviews, but it was tougher with this one because we didn't have a great experience, but they have many good reviews and my sister had a good experience. I have to say that some of this was that the food was really not stellar, some of it was poor timing, and some of it is a matter of personal taste. I have gone ahead and given my opinion, but you should take these things into account before deciding to eat here or not. There is no wait staff. You order and pay at the counter then go and pick it up when they page you. There is really no other interaction with any staff member. We briefly were able to ask the young lady filling the ice machine to take a picture of us. We had to wipe down our own table before we sat down because no one was doing that. There are long tables that you share with others in two buildings, lots of outside seating at smaller tables and counter type seating all along the balcony railing. We got 2 half pound orders of brisket, 2 mac & cheese sides, one street corn mix side, one potato salad side and water to drink. It came to $55 with tip. We went about 4:30 to beat the dinner crowd. I was a little leary about going that early, thinking the food may not be as fresh. Turns out I was right. The brisket was not fresh and soaked in grease that was also pooled in the bottom of the serving containers. The slices either had a lot of fat on them, were dry end pieces, and overcooked meat shreds from the bottom of the pan that were soaked in oil. It was Iike they scraped the bottom of older stuff in the lunch pan and divided it up between us. I tried dabbing some of the oil off with napkins and soaked 4 napkins. I transferred my meat to a paper plate to get it out of the grease, and the plate became soaked with it. After cutting out all the fat from the meat, I probably had about 2/3 left. I tasted it, and it was very salty and very dry. I figured I would just put a lot of barbecue sauce on it. I tasted the sauce, and it was like thin tomato sauce with lots of chili powder in it. Not to my taste at all. I ended up mixing some of the ranch dressing they had there with the barbecue sauce to cut the chili powder taste and make it tolerable. On to the mac & cheese, which looked really good, but was luke warm and had very little taste at all, very dry and bland. I could hardly taste cheese at all. There was a crust of toasted cheese on the top and very little anywhere else and not saucy at all, just dry cooked macaroni that was dried out and crusty on the inside bottom and sides of the serving container. The street corn mix with black beans was a cold dish. The corn did not look roasted. It was more like canned corn and beans in ranch dressing with chili powder and cotijo sprinkled on top. It wasn't bad, but lacked that nice roasted corn taste. The potato salad was the best of the batch with large chunks of red potatoes in a creamy dill sauce, but it would have been better if the potatoes were at least bite size. We didn't bother trying to get anyone's attention about the meat and mac & cheese because they had become busy and there really wasn't anyone around to talk to except the order takers with a line of people waiting to order. Overall, it was a very disappointing dinner celebration. The picture is of the 4 grease soaked napkins in the brisket serving containers on the grease soaked paper plate with all the fat and burnt pieces I cut off of what I ate. My husband's serving was similar.

Julian Beer Company wasn't too bad. The line appeared to be pretty long, but you can scan the QR code and order (Skip the dang old line they say). We order the brisket and smoked wings. The brisket was pretty good, but the smoked wings might as well of been dog treats. The Buffalo they served with it was also trash. The street corn was also for the birds, we didn't even finish it. We actually went back later in the day for more brisket if that says anything about the brisket. The Buffalo sauce was too tangy and had a weird floral taste to it... maybe rethink that recipe. The street corn had thousand island dressing or something. Also rethink that recipe, just do a basic "off the street" street corn recipe and it would be bomb. Just roast some corn over a fire, de cob it, add some Mexican mayo/cream, salt, cojita, and Chile powder and you'd do great. That soup of "street corn" yall have is actually not good and pretty bad. I loved the service, beer, and atmosphere. Will be back to get more MEAT.

Nestled in a 1920s bungalow behind lush green trees, Julian Grille is a family-run restaurant offering French- and Italian-accented American classics. Located on Main Street in the quaint town of Julian, California, this hidden gem boasts a picturesque setting and a full bar. The menu features delectable dishes like fettucini alfredo tetrazzini with sauteed spinach in olive oil.
So good- except the burger, pass on that. French dip was delicious! And so was the brie, the ribs are fantastic and so was the pulled pork sandwich. They have a really yummy doggy lunch here that comes with the biscuit that our dog loved. They also have a bathroom. I highly recommend stopping here for lunch before you hit Julian. Ask for Daniel he’s the best server here.

A quaint atmosphere and great service. Being on the only main street in Julian let's you walk to the Julian Grille if you are exploring the town but it does affect parking so keep in mind you may need to find parking but it is worth it. Nice menu options with a variety of wines

Came here for a quick lunch 3/23/24 since we were in the area. They had a pretty good menu and their broccoli cheddar soup was delicious but the crackers were a little stale. The soup was amazing though. Got the tuna sandwich and added sliced avocado, grilled chicken sandwich, pulled pork sandwich and linguini with pork sausage. I was pretty bummed out that they had ran out of cinnamon sticks for my hot toddy drink but it was still okay. The ladies did an amazing job answering all of our questions about the menu and being very attentive. The restaurant is very cute and vintage vibes with a fireplace. Also dog friendly in their patio area

Restaurant in a house. Quality from the moment we walked in the door. Trout was delicious, not over or under cooked. Also were the roast beef sandwich and tuna salad sandwiches. Shared apple pie ala mode which was a huge serving. Coffee good too. Nice quiet place to converse with friends and family.

The Julian Grille is located on the Main Street in the town of Julian CA. The town itself is a quaint spot with lots of history. We were excited to find a place for lunch that welcomes dogs. They actually have a dog menu that includes hamburger patty, chicken patty and a couple other choices. We ordered a French dip sandwich and ravioli. Both were great and the service was very good. The outdoor eating area was nice and we had a great view from our table. The inside dining rooms looked fun as well.

I tried Julian Grille's creamy mushroom soup, and it blew my mind – so good 😍 On the flip side, the tuna sandwich and burger were just okay. They didn't quite match the soup's wow factor. Stick to the soup if you want the real star of the show! 🌟

Went here for lunch with my wife while in Julian. Looks like they built the restaurant in a what used to be a residential house. Nice and clean inside. Happened to be raining the day we went so eating outside wasn't an option. Good was good but not great. A little bland for my taste. The only thing that was a bit strange were their prices on the menu were substantially more then they advertise online. Probably would choose somewhere else next time.

Miner's Diner, located at 2134 Main St in Julian, CA, is a charming retro-inspired diner that offers classic American fare in a cozy and laid-back atmosphere. The restaurant is adorned with nostalgic artifacts and features red and white checkered chairs and tablecloths for an old-fashioned feel. Visitors can enjoy delicious home-cooked meals such as burgers, fries, malts, ice cream, and sodas while taking in the vintage decor.
I love the ambience here! Very rustic. Ordered the tri tip dip and it is possibly the best dip sandwich I ever had! I contemplated getting a second one but remembered I still needed to get some pie. Pace yourself. Also, don’t forget to check out the vintage candy store. Pretty awesome down there.

We only got an ice cream to counteract the hot day in Julian. The inside is rustic. Our single scoop ended up being about 4 after the waffle cone was filled up. There is a train that circled the restaurant and there is a candy mine below the restaurant with old time candies like gum cigarettes. The staff was very friendly with big smiles.

Always go here, this time was blah. We were stoked cuz no wait. There were booths available but we were sat in a crappy 2 top. I asked if we could move to a booth, server said she would ck...what's the biggie lol 2 min later she said it was OK. Food took a long time even though it was dead compared to how it usually is. Western burger was not good. BBQ sause thin, onion rings cold...same with my partners mushroom burger. Chili was outta can. It's like a C+ only cuz the atmosphere is amazing. Server was doing bare minimum...didn't match the kitchy, home town vibe of the place. More of an east coast vibe. Not bad just lost something in the past few years. Next time ill try one of the deli's I saw. Oh ya...paper straws. Fin. Update, with our stomachs were not happy at night.

Pamela our server is THE best. Very nice, attentive and friendly. We ordered onion rings for the table. Very good. Crisp and flavorful. I ordered Miners burger. It had all the fixins- . Sadly it c was tasteless. The patty had zero flavor. They ought to add a little salt, seasoning salt as a patty needs help.

We were in town today a few minutes before 11 AM and wanted breakfast. They were only serving lunch. We were hungry and decided to stay. Gal was nice and opened front door for me as she saw I had difficulty walking up the steps and husband was parking the car. Spacious comfy booth. Cute place but upon walking in is a kind of negative sign about not serving people if they are not nice to staff. Not very welcoming and they could have made a funny sign not one that feels you are being reprimanded. I actually did not see till I sat down and it might of deterred me as we are always nice and tip well. Limited menu choices. I had a burger and husband had a patty melt. Both overcooked when we requested as rare as possible. Onion rings kind of doughy and both are meals were left halfway unfinished. Food just did not taste good or fresh. They charged us $6.00 each for a Coke and Diet Coke. Sorry $12 is out of line for a diner. They put on a service charge before I even paid. Our bill for small burger with fries and coke and patty melt with onion rings was almost $60. They did give us a military discount when I inquired.I told her I would pay cash and they removed. They also had a note about not taking large groups. We will definitely not be back nor recommend.

My first time here. Visiting friends in California and happened by this wonderful quaint little town called Julian. This restaurant is on the main street in town and looked like a little hole in the wall type of place that I love. Although the atmosphere was definitely up to par, the food left much to be desired. The food wasn't bad but they could have done alot better with the preparation. I got the turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich with a side of onion rings. The sourdough bread bread was dry and not toasted, they put very little turkey on the sandwich and just a few drops of mayonnaise. Also, the onion rings weren't bad, there was way too much breading for my liking. On top of that, the service was fairly slow even though the place wasn't that crowded.

Mom's Pie House in Julian has been a local favorite since 1984, offering a variety of delicious pies, cookies, and other baked goods made from scratch daily with the freshest ingredients. The bakery has grown to two locations, serving up treats like their famous Gluten-Free Chocolate Pecan pie. To avoid lines at the Main Street location, customers can call ahead for whole pie orders or visit their Wynola location.
Very busy over the weekend with lines out the door. Instead, we stopped here early before leaving Julian to pick up a pie to take home (no lines). Many pies to choose from, but I've always defaulted to the standard apple pie with the buttery crust and lots of apples. Can also get honey and other tasty treats.

Very good pie, sweet team, enough seating. We stayed in Julian for the weekend and the pie scene is pretty big. Multiple pie businesses for such a small community but its great to have so many farm-to-table options. I bought a bumbleberry pie to go and had a slice of apple with ice cream. The family loved it and they served it warm which was a nice touch. They also have a few lunch options which is great! Check out the video.

Julian is an amazing little town just around the corner from where I live and after a fun filled day we decided to stop by and get a few slices of pie. The pie was delicious but the only reason this is getting a five star is because I believe the older of the four workers there I believe her name was Bonita was amazing and working harder then the three younger ladies who where just playing around laughing and not paying attention to customers. We attempted to ask a question about a pie that looked like a chocolate filled one but after attempting 4 times to ask the question and was being ignored because the young ladies where playing around to much. By time we walked around to the cashier we just said we wanted apples pie slices and went and sat down. We did stop the older worker Bonita and let her know she is such a hard worker while the others were playing around. The 30 mins we where there Bonita was boxing pies up then running around wiping counters and tables picking up trash and making sure everything was presentable for customers meanwhile the young ladies helped a few people and then went back to playing and not helping clean or anything.

I tried their apple berry crumb pie and it was just delicious. Be aware of the long queue! But the pie is worth waiting in queue. They’ve variety of pies to choose from and even has oldest oven in the dining area. Recommend to all the pie lovers out there.

Mom’s Julian is exactly what you’d expect in this quaint old town: a bakery featuring apple pie. The tradition of this apple growing town is the first thing anyone asks if I say “I went to Julian.” “Did you have some pie…?” Yes, and Mom’s Pies is where to go. Delicious! Respects hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail. Treats everyone with courtesy. You gotta’ try a slice with crumbles! Go here.

It’s just a perfect place for a quick delicious bite of apple pie, especially on a cold day, as soon as you walk in, you feel the warmth and smell the delicious fresh baking of pies, there are several different choices, all absolutely delicious. If you’re just in for a slice and one to avoid sitting for a long time or waiting at a restaurant, this is a perfect spot, they also have regular coffee, or you can buy the whole pie.

Update 7/14/25 I tried their bumble berry pie with the traditional crust. Wow it was amazing so much thin buttery crust, and not overwhelmingly sweet with just a touch of tartness. Really nice cute place pies looked very tempting. I wasn’t able to try any. There is usually a long line outside the door You can see them baking the pies from the window

Eagle Mining Co. offers a captivating glimpse into the past, allowing visitors to step back in time and explore an authentic gold mine. Nestled just off Main Street, this historic site features hour-long tours that delve deep into the mine's tunnels, showcasing traditional mining techniques and the rich history of Julian. Guests can engage in hands-on activities like gold panning while learning about the daily lives of miners from the 1870s.
Last year, during a long weekend, we visited Julian, CA, and had an incredible experience at the Eagle Mining Co. The gold mining tour, especially the underground tunnels and gold panning activity, left our kids thoroughly impressed. The guide was knowledgeable and explained the gold mine history well. It's a fantastic family outing. Highly recommended.

We had an incredible time touring at the Eagle Mine Co. Our tour guide John was a gold mine of information, pun intended. It was so cool to walk through the mines and hear about the working conditions in the 1870s. All the staff is very friendly and the gift shop has some great finds. Especially love how the tour is dog friendly, even in the mines! A great stop if you’re in Julian and fun for all ages. Highly recommend!

I was how cool this mine tour was! It was as if everything was left as it was at the end of the last shift. So much to see and experience as you walk through the main tunnel of the mine. There were several side shoots, shafts and chimenies to see along the way. It was nice and cool throughout the tunnel. I'm 6'4" and had to crouch walk most of the time, with a few places I could stand up straight. Afterwards, I got to practice panning with my own gold pan I recently purchased so I could test it out on real gold. The horse troughs where you pan are filled with sand and small chunks of real gold. There's so much gold in the troughs that you can get 5-10 30# mesh gold chunks in every pan. Unfortunately it's for training purposed only, so you have to throw it back. I highly recommend this place! I think it will exceed your expectations as it did mine!

John, our tour guide was super chill and knowledgeable. We went during some heavy winds and the power was out, so they gave us all some flashlights and we got to take a tour in the dark. It was really cool and added a whole new level to the experience! Loved this tour! Would definitely recommend.

This place was one of the strangest experience we have ever had! When we arrived we were showed where the restrooms were located (in a garage) and then we were told they were “short handed” so there would be no tour guide. We paid our fee and was told to go inside by ourselves. Luckily we were all able bodied because about halfway through there is a ladder you had to climb up to the next level. When we came out of the mine on the opposite side we wandered around aimlessly for a bit before ending up where we started. We attempted to pan for gold ourselves because we never saw any staff again. There was this older gentleman at the very beginning that did give us a 2 minute intro into mining but it was obvious he didn’t want to be there. It seems others had a great experience by reading the reviews. Maybe we just visited on the wrong day??

The tour guide was super smart and nice! He answered all our questions. For fifteen bucks each, we learned so much about mining and history. Plus, the memories are priceless!
Edilyn K — Google review
An amazing experience, to walk through actual mining tunnels and learn how mines operate. John, our guide made the tour feel so real with colorful stories of the mining era. My Eagle Mine visit provided a glimpse into the bygone days of the gold miners of the 1800s. It was authentic , educational and enlightening.

The coal mining tour was quite boring and didn’t meet expectations. The ticket office had a nice selection of accessories and jewelry. There is an outdoor seating area available if you want to wait for your group or take a break to enjoy some food. We were a group of four, and the cost was $60 if paying with cash or $62 with a credit card processing fee. Plenty of parking

Bakery
Apple Alley Bakery, located on Main Street in Julian, CA, is a charming bakery and cafe known for its delicious apple pies and pastries. The bakery offers a variety of pie flavors including sugar/gluten-free and vegan options, as well as a simple lunch menu. With outdoor seating available, it's the perfect spot to enjoy their delectable treats in the pleasant Julian weather. Customers appreciate the gluten-friendly options and commend the owner's knowledge and understanding of gluten concerns.
Apple Alley Bakery is by far our favorite place for apple pie — and we’ve been coming here for the past 4 years. Every visit is consistently amazing, and the quality never disappoints. We visit about 5 times a year, and during the holiday season, we usually take home six pies — yes, they’re that good! Over the years, we’ve tried several varieties: • The traditional apple pie • The sugar-free apple pie – incredibly delicious and perfectly spiced • The gluten-free apple crumble pie • The gluten-free boysenberry apple pie • And the pumpkin pie (special order) is honestly the best I’ve ever had! Their coffee is also fantastic — the perfect complement to a warm slice of pie on a chilly Julian day. ☕️ And the service is just as memorable. On our most recent visit, we brought our pup, and the staff went above and beyond — offering her water and treats, and making her feel just as welcome as we were. 🐶💕 If you're in Julian, do yourself a favor and stop by Apple Alley Bakery. You won’t regret it!

Food was good, pies were good but they took forever to be served. When my husband ask "what salad you have" to the lady taking our order she answered in a very rude manner "just salad". Oh, I forgot about the cookies, they were really good too. Wait, I almost forget about the cinnamon ice cream, I loveeed it. Thanks for reading!

They have outdoor seating in the back which is nice and our pie came out quickly. It was good, although I still prefer Julian pie company since I like my pies sweeter. Still good though! I’m happy I tried it.

Local Treasurer just off the Main Street in Julian We have visited Julian for years and have always enjoyed the more known Pie Shops. This year we decided to slow down and spend a weekend exploring this wonderful town. I was delighted to find this local treasurer and enjoy their creation of the popular Apple Pies that Julian is known for. I had their Apple Crumb Pie. It was absolutely delicious. The pie crust was flaky and the Crumb topping was so delicious, totally complementing the star attraction, the Apple filling which was so yummy. I definitely recommend checking this place out. Great ambience featuring a delightful outdoor patio with Apple trees . Great people and great service!

Lovely place with amazing service. We have tried different types and owners allow tasting of pies. We loved the apple pie crumble. The crust is crumbly and buttery and the apple filling is of ideal balance of sweet and cinnamon flavour with lovely cooked apples. I will definitely be visiting here on my next trip to San Diego.

As we were walking down the street I saw a sign in their window that they have gluten free pie options so I had to check it out. I decided on the boysenberry apple crumble pie warmed with vanilla ice cream. Delicious!!! Thank you so much for providing gluten free options for those of us that can’t eat gluten.

The sweetest folks with even sweeter pies. Delicious, friendly, and patriotic!!! Try the lunch special with the amazing tomato soup and a slice of Mango Apple Pie. They were even kind enough to split it. Thank you for the wonderful experience. This is a must stop family owned small business to support.

Went on a Sunday afternoon with my wife and two kids. Ordered a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and three pieces of warm pie. Waited 50 minutes. Yes that is five-zero minutes - for a truly mediocre peanut butter sandwich and three average pieces of pie. That is an hour of my life that I will never get back. In a town full of pie joints, there must be better choices, to be sure.

Restaurant
Rongbranch Restaurant in Julian is a popular choice for those looking for a rustic dining experience. With a country-western ambiance, they serve up tasty dishes like chicken pot pie, BBQ ribs, and bison burgers. Recently adding breakfast to their menu, this long-time favorite offers a variety of satisfying entrees. The pot pie is particularly delicious with its flavorful brown gravy filling and flaky crust.
Originally, I wanted pizza, but I'm glad I stumbled upon this place. The service here is very friendly and down-to-earth, which is really helpful since I don't get a chance to relax and eat much. The staff is very attentive, and the food was delicious; it felt homemade, especially my skillet. My wife had the chicken pot pie, and since the pastry is made there, everything tasted fresh. I wanted to show my appreciation for the restaurant by letting everyone know with my simple review.

We arrive around 1:30PM on a Saturday and waited for ~15min to be seated. We ordered 2 bison burgers, country side steak and brisket. It took more than 45 minutes to get the food. We were starving!!! Burgers were good, fries undercooked. The brisket was chewy. The fried steak was OK. The server was nice, the atmosphere too, but not worth the wait and price.
Elena T — Google review
I ask for medium ribeye steak but it is not medium and not tasty at all. Apple cider is great. Other places has better quality food and price.

1 hr wait. Burn fries. Feathers on the fried chicken. And a unknown black ring object. Hairtie?? No seasoning o. Anything
Jen L — Google review
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a good experience here. The staff was nice, but the food was very bad :/ they told us the wait was 45min-1hr which was fine with us we could just walk around in the mean time so we decided to buy some fudge since we were very hungry and it was so bad 🤧 we don’t recommend it unless you want diabetes. Then my husband ordered the BBQ pork and could not eat it, no seasoning whatsoever. I ate the garden burger which was better and shared it with him since he was starving but we both had upset tummies for the rest of the day. The waitress was very nice, she offered to give us something else from the menu but we were done with the food there, plus we didn’t have to pay for his food. Honestly, don’t come here, just plan accordingly so you can go to a better place

A long time favorite in Julian! They offer a good selection of entrees and just recently started offering breakfast. The pot pie was delicious! While it isn't the prettiest presentation, it has so much flavor! The crust was flaky and they use a brown gravy inside. There were a variety of vegetables and chunks of chicken. The salad was cold, crisp and fresh when served. The ranch dressing was tasted like it may be homemade. All entrees ordered were hearty portion sizes and very filling. The cold cider was my favorite in all of Julian that we tried. The server was friendly and kept our drinks filled.

Took 20 minutes to even order They’re out of chilli, iced tea and apple cider 40 minutes later still no food and we find out that there is no chicken for the sandwich we ordered. We decide to scrap it and not even attempt to order something else because we didn’t want to wait even more!! 1 hour and 15 after we were sat the ribs finally come out… another 12 minutes and my cornbread finally comes out. Absolutely horrible service. There was one waitress that was hustling and on top of it but not ours.
Elsa T — Google review
We waited 55 minutes for our food. If you’re not in a rush and willing to wait best place to go. The fried chicken I got was overcooked and dark. Extremely disappointing to be honest since I drive 2 hours to get there.

Buffalo Bill's Cafe Of Julian

Hamburger restaurant
Buffalo Bill's Cafe of Julian is a charming spot located slightly off the beaten path, making it a relaxing escape from the bustling crowds. The cafe offers a dog-friendly environment with limited patio seating, so be prepared for potential wait times. Despite this, visitors rave about the fantastic customer service and quick food delivery. The menu features delicious buffalo burgers and garlic parmesan fries that are worth the wait. Additionally, guests can enjoy outdoor seating while dining with their furry companions.
Great bison burger, Fresh potato salad served on a bed of spinach leaves. Excellent fries. Friendly staff. Seating inside or out.

This place was fantastic. I'm a little late on reviewing, but visited them back in the fall. It was drizzly and freezing cold, my good friend myself and my two young girls were starving. So we come to visit here and the customer service was fantastic, food was great and delivered quickly. The burgers are fantastic. Will definitely visit again.
Michelle D — Google review
The nugget burger is amazing, and the best onion rings we've had in a long time! Bit of a wait but that's just fine, food is definitely worth it :) staff is super fun and I liked listening to the banter with themselves and customers. Plus all the guys were super cute. Would definitely come back 10/10<3
Joel C — Google review
They have potential and you can eat food here, but..... They are not properly staffed for the number of tables they have. We were told the wait would be 20 to 30 minutes. It was 30 minutes. We were then seated and told the kitchen was really backed up, as if I couldn't see that for myself, and that we'd have to wait about 45 minutes to get our food. They were right again. We got our food, one correct order and the other incorrect (charred burger instead of a medium rare patty melt), in 45 minutes after we ordered. I don't blame them though. I think this town is cursed. I've been to Julian so many times as if something may change, but each time I go, the waits are extremely long and the food is mediocre. Such mismanaged potential.
Jim W — Google review
I had the smaller buffalo burger with the garlic parmesan fries, it was delicious. We were visiting Julien during one of the busiest weekends in October so the wait was long, but relaxing as it is up a slight hill so it is a little out of the way. They are dog friendly - but there are only 2 patio tables - so if you're looking to sit down to lunch with your pooch and they're taken - be prepared to wait until after those two tables are finished.
Chrystal L — Google review
One of our favorite spots in Julian. They are very courteous and accommodating, even though they were super busy this weekend because of the beautiful snow. My burger was delicious too!

Best buffalo burger EVER! It's off the main street but I'd recommend this cute cafe to anyone. And our waitress Vivienne was delightful. We'll definitely be back!

Everytime time I go to Julian I eat here for lunch! Such an amazing place to experience good vibes and great food. Staff is always friendly and helpful in deciding what to get off the menu. Plus there is outdoor seating for anyone who brings their dogs 😊
