Minute Man National Historical Park, located along Route 2A near Concord Center, is a significant site in American history. It encompasses the route taken by the Redcoats during the Revolutionary War and features historical landmarks such as Old North Bridge and The Wayside. Visitors can explore the area where the first battle of the war took place and learn about Paul Revere's ride through reenactments on Patriots Day.
May is the perfect time to visit this place, when you will see the best of the spring in New England; and also get educated with American history along the way. Starting from the visitor center, you will be able to watch a video about the whole story; then get a map which tells you everywhere you can go and every parking lot it has. Aiming for a good spring-time hike, I enjoyed the farmland and North Bridge the most, but there are more things to see, such as the Orchard House (which offers you a nice guided tour with $15).
Wanyu H — Google review
Was disappointed to find the visitors center closed during the posted open hours. There were no rangers or anyone around. I'm sure that's due to governmental budget cuts and not the fault of park personnel. It's a beautiful park with incredibly preserved historical structures and plenty of informative signage. The trails are well-kept and there were lots of great birding opportunities and I saw turtles and frogs/froglets in the pond near the visitors center. I do plan on getting over here more since it's my local park.
Natalie K — Google review
Beautiful National Park with loads of American History. Walking paths galore, some shaded some without shade. Locals clearly enjoy the park for cycling and recreation. Two visitor centers, the main one has very limited hours, the North Bridge has more regular hours. Many rangers out throughout the park and available to answer questions and tell the history. Tours are also available for a fee. Park is also close to many other great historical spots in MA.
Elizabeth K — Google review
I learned so much more about American History! We only had one day to spend in the area. So we visited 3 sites: the North Bridge in Concord, the Minute Man National Historical Park in Lincoln, and the Lexington Battle Green in Lexington. We could have spent an entire week here visiting all of the Revolution sites as well as the literary sites from the Transcendentalist era, which I had no idea were so related! If you have time, rent a bike and follow the path of the British regulars as they were pushed back to Boston.
Karyn C — Google review
Very nice historical place, describing the beginnings of the American Revolution. I recommend the video at the visitor center and also walking the trail that connects the different building and places of interest. Concord is close by and worth visiting.

The Beginning of Independence! My daughter (13) and I visited the Minute Man National Historical Park on July 1, 2025. The Park Rangers were extremely knowledgeable and the park was in excellent condition. The Park marks the first "battle" of the Revolutionary War at Lexington & Concord. This is where things escalated to a point of no return between the British and the Colonists. Highly recommend visiting and taking in the very place that led to American Independence.
Jason W — Google review
We loved this non traditional visitor center. you have to walk a ways but there ia a nice path, no stairs to the building. The mocie ia unique and aboit 45 minutes. We thought it was very good. Check the official website for times, they are different than the posted ones in the parking lot. They closed at noon because they dont have air conditioning.
Kirsten B — Google review
An absolute MUST visit for EVERYONE who visits Massachusetts! This is where the Revolutionary War began! You are walking through History! You can just feel everything in the atmosphere! I could have spent all day here and still it wasn’t enough. Take your time, pay your respects to the events that happened here, go visit some of the museums. You will not be disappointed.

Art museum
deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum is a captivating destination that showcases American contemporary and modern artists. The museum features an impressive 30-acre sculpture park, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in art while surrounded by nature. The beautifully maintained grounds provide a picturesque setting for exploring the diverse collection of sculptures, ranging from large and modern to small and intriguing. Additionally, the museum boasts amenities such as a cafe and souvenir store on-site.
As a wedding photographer, this is a dream property for wedding photos. Everywhere you look is another great backdrop. It was so fun to golf cart around stopping here and there for beautiful portrait areas. I had the pleasure of working with Ashley & Kelly of Kelly Elizabeth events and also Tori from the museum to make this day as wonderful as it was. The day was perfectly coordinated and stunning from my arrival to departure. I would highly recommend having an event here. @alirosaphoto

Me and my husband attended on a Saturday around 11am in Jul, so it was very hot, not much shade so pre warning you. Overall I thought it was cool but I expected more, we drove an hour and half. Some sculptures were better than others for sure.
ELOCIN R — Google review
Our family loves visiting deCordova to check out the incredible trees and sculptures and to climb and walk around on the varied terrain. Our favorite tree is European Beech near the entrance road that has a crazy network of sturdy low-lying roots and branches that makes it feel like you’re walking into a leafy hut when you step inside it. We’re sad that the iconic metal ring sculpture on the hill is gone now, but there’s always more new things to explore when we visit. Lots of sculptures that play with light reflection, transparency, and dimensions. The grounds are doable with a stroller, but if you have a little one and you want to check out some of the gravelly trails on foot, a hiking backpack to stow your toddler in is a good idea. As always, kids and adults love playing with the massive chime sculpture by the nursery school buildings. Awesome place for a fun walk and a nature bath!
Sharon H — Google review
It was a lovely fall day. The museum grounds are spacious and have many areas open between stands of trees, as well as art in amongst some trees. Wander around and enjoy the outdoor art and sculptures. Bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy the park-like grounds. We had a 10 year old with us who enjoyed the open air and the fanciful sculptures.
George R — Google review
What a cool place. You'll dig it if you're an artsy person. My fiance would have hated it. Fun walking around discovering so many different styles of sculpture. The gift shop was diverse and not over priced. The staff was so helpful and friendly. I can't wait to visit again.
Shannon S — Google review
Beautiful outdoor space! Definitely get a map before walking around. Very interesting art and sculptures. Great place to take kids! If you bring your lunch, this place is picnic goals!

Very pretty gardens with interesting art installments, most quite contemporary. Be aware that the museum is currently closed for renovations so the $14 admission only covers the sculpture park.

The Trustees DeCordova Sculpture Museum was great. I went with my wife and we both enjoyed the outdoor museum's many sculptures and in the walk in the grass around the grounds. Afterwards, we even walked the Flints Pond Trail to get more steps in. Definitely recommend!

Walden Pond

4.6
(644)
Lake
Walden Pond, a 64-acre lake within the Walden Pond State Reservation, is a National Historical Landmark known for its natural beauty and historical significance. Formed as a kettle hole by retreating glaciers, it inspired Henry David Thoreau's famous work "Walden; or, Life in the Woods" after he spent two years living in a cabin on its shore.
A true American pilgrimage site. American environmentalism was born in the mind of thorough, but he brought it to life here. A wonderfully beautiful place. The visitor center is great. The replica cabin is perfect. I rented a bike share bike at the Concord Visitor center and didn’t have to worry about parking. It’s a nice 20 min ride. The bikes can be locked, so no need to worry about that. You should bring a small towel and wade ankle-deep to feel the water. The town of Concord is a great place to end the day.
Seth C — Google review
Beautiful lake,, clear water, parking can be limited during weekends, small sandy beach next to water. Parking is 8 for MA license plates and 30 for others. Machines and online payment options available
Fito H — Google review
Beautiful! Very well maintained visitor center, parking lot, and trails. Parking is a bit expensive for non-residents ($30) but the experience is worth the stop. Lots of signs that direct you to Thoreau's cabin site.
Erin T — Google review
Fantastic spot that exceeded expectations. Perfect 45-minute flat walk around the pond (you can make it a little more rigorous with other trails) with obviously profound historic significance. The parking price for out of towners was ridiculously steep for off-season ($30), so I'm not sure I would go back (which may be their goal), but it's worth it for one time.
J D — Google review
Truly a lovable historical and hiking place in Massechusetts. So many beautiful things you can enjoy and see. The pond is swimmable and seems pretty clean. Parking permit is $8 per day (MA plates), which literally serves as an all-day pass ticket. In this, I did a hike in the morning, went to a nearby sculpture museum, then back here for the sunset - which worked out pretty well!
Wanyu H — Google review
It's actually a really nice Pond that I really enjoyed walking around and swimming in. There's also a nice Visitor Center to get information. The cost of parking there is a rip off though. Talking to locals at the pond I found out you could park in residential areas around the pond and walk to it.
James K — Google review
Clear water, shallow sandy beaches, easy walk around the pond, fishing, swimming, paddleboarfing....what's not to like? A new Bath House is under construction....nice!
Victor ( — Google review
Absolutely one of my favorite spots! Nice clean safe swimming area, walking trails, inspirational quotes from Thoreau, the cabin, fall foliage, quiet spots to read and watch the ducks and occasional otter swim by.

Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House is a historic mansion in Concord where the famous author wrote her novel "Little Women" and set the story. The home offers tours and special events, including educational seminars for all ages. Visitors can experience the 350-year-old halls that are filled with heirlooms and history. The Alcott family lived in Orchard House from 1858-1877, and it served as an inspirational setting for their literary works.
Felt surreal being in the spaces where Bronson Alcott raised his family and entertained literary figures like Thoreau, Emerson, Hawthorne, and I’m sure many more. It was wonderful to see Louisa May’s writing desk and hear stories of her and her sisters. I especially enjoyed hearing about the youngest sister, May, an accomplished artist and interesting figure in her own right. Many of her childhood drawings are on door frames and walls around the house, and her later art is framed all over. Tour was about an hour long with a lengthy video at the beginning. My 10:15 tour was split into two groups-with 10 or 12 of us in each. They were doing quite a bit of restoration and upkeep in the gardens and orchards. Beautiful property!
Carrie — Google review
The house is beautiful, and I enjoyed the video at the beginning. Unfortunately, the tour was ruined by the guide—an elderly lady who talks endlessly for her own pleasure, providing far too much disorganized information, sometimes almost 15 minutes per room. She was also aggressive and unpleasant. No pictures are allowed, and you can’t look at anything on your own without her shouting at you. Overall, it was a very unpleasant and boring experience, which is in stark contrast to the charm of the book and the story of the writer.
Giustiniano — Google review
This was a surprisingly great activity and we were happy we decided to go, we almost didn't. The tour was informative and the house was actually such an old classy place. We were so honored to walk through history!
Cierra G — Google review
A beautiful journey into American literary history! Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House in Concord, Massachusetts is an absolute treasure for anyone who loves literature, history, or simply charming New England architecture. Nestled among peaceful trees and crisp autumn foliage, the house immediately feels like stepping back in time to the 19th century. The home is beautifully preserved and lovingly maintained—its weathered brown exterior and teal front door are both inviting and historically authentic. Seasonal touches like pumpkins and a welcoming wreath at the entrance added warmth and charm during my visit. Standing on the pathway leading up to the house, it was easy to imagine the Alcott family living, writing, and dreaming here more than 150 years ago. Inside, the guided tours are excellent—thoughtful, informative, and full of fascinating stories that bring Louisa May Alcott’s world to life. You learn not only about her writing of Little Women, which she completed right here in this house, but also about the extraordinary Alcott family—trailblazers in education, social reform, and the arts. Many original family belongings are still in the home, including Louisa’s writing desk and May Alcott’s charming hand-painted artworks on the walls. The grounds are peaceful and picturesque, and the surrounding Concord area adds to the experience with its rich literary history—Walden Pond and the homes of Emerson and Hawthorne are just minutes away.

We visited the home of Louisa May Alcott Orchard House, " Home of Little Women" Concord Massachusetts. Highly recommended for a memorable experience. An interesting historical informative tour guide with family artifacts. Orchard House retains its charm from the time the Alcott family lived there from 1858-1877. The guided tour focused on Louisa Alcott's life and family history.
Barbara ( — Google review
Really interesting house to tour through with great guides (we had Alya), who show true love and passion for the author and the rich history of the house. I never realised just how much of American history was based around this one small town of Concord (which I highly recommend visiting and finding her grave as an extra) and the shop has several books on Emerson etc as a reference.
The O — Google review
Awesome to see where Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women, and learn about her unique family and friends. Our guide was excellent, and we learned interesting things - for example, she loves ked to go for a daily run through the woods, never got married, quickly made the equivalent of $20 million due to the popularity of her book. Beautiful artwork from her little sister, May (Amy, in the book), who benefited from her sister's success through professional art training in Europe. Well worth the hour we spent there (and street parking was easy and convenient).
Adam W — Google review
Sadly we can't take pictures inside the Alcott house but I am leaving some pictures of the outside and the School of Philosophy that's right next to it. Although the tour is a little crowded and the house itself is really small, the introduction movie they display at the School of Philosophy is quite informative and the vibes are irreplaceable. It's a dive to the past, worth every moment! I definitely recommend a trip to the Orchard House and the historic Concord!

Diner
Helen's Restaurant is a casual bistro that serves a variety of American dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The atmosphere feels like a diner but with the pricing of a restaurant. The place can get quite loud due to the lack of noise-absorbing elements, but it offers clean restrooms and pleasant interiors. The bar provides comfortable seating with sports on TV, making it convenient for solo diners.
We visited on a chilly Sunday afternoon and had a wonderful dining experience! Every dish we ordered was hearty and perfect for autumn's appetite, and they were all delicious. We highly recommend the southern fried chicken; both the chicken and the coleslaw served as a side were amazing. The pulled pork melt was also very tender, with a perfectly crispy grilled exterior on the toast. The service was friendly as well. Overall, we loved this cute place and would definitely want to visit again if we're in Concord.
YC C — Google review
What a great spot! We found this based on previous reviews. We were not disappointed. Sit at the counter to watch the crew in action. Chatted with Greg, who is the son of the owners. He's been working there since age 9. Loved the atmosphere. Clean bathrooms. Yes, I do check these things. Husband had the Pastrami and corned beef combo, I had the tuna melt with homemade coleslaw. It wasn't hats to twist our arms for a slice of his mother's homemade apple pie and blueberry pie, ala mode of course. So stuffed, worth it. This was our first time to Concord.
Cindy G — Google review
We’ve been going to Helen’s for as long as it has been Helen’s (and before that), but I can’t recall the last time I had breakfast here. They have some of the best burgers and shakes around, but I forget about their very complete breakfast menu… And just how amazingly well they make everything! We just squeaked in under the breakfast wire this morning, and everything they served us was as desired and picture perfect. The preparation of the English muffins so much so that I absolutely had to take a picture… It was just about the Platonic ideal of an English muffin, and pre-buttered. Sitting alongside my gorgeous custom omelette and the most perfect fruit cup I’ve had in ages, it was photo-worthy. While the space is a little bit cramped, the food is always fabulous, and I have to give a special shout out to our server today, Lesley, who could not have been more delightful or accommodating, bringing us things before we even asked for them, remembering off-the-cuff requests, regularly checking in on us despite the bustling crowd, and all with a wonderfully sunny attitude. So thank you Lesley and Helen’s for another great meal on this gorgeous summer day in downtown Concord!
Matthew L — Google review
Helen’s Restaurant is a true gem in the heart of Concord. It has that wonderful small-town diner feel — cozy, friendly, and welcoming from the moment you walk in. The food is absolutely delicious and served with genuine care, the kind that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Everything we ordered came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor, and the service was just as warm. What makes this spot even more special is where it’s located. Concord is steeped in American history — from the first battles of the Revolution to the literary legends who called it home. Sitting at Helen’s feels like being part of that timeless story, right in the center of a town where history and community meet. It’s the kind of place you want to come back to again and again
Amber M — Google review
I found Helens on Reddit while browsing places near Walden pond to grab food before I went and explored it a bit. as I came in, the entire energy from outside shifted. a nice woman told me to sit wherever, and after taking my seat I was quickly offered a drink. while waiting to order, several people greeted my server as Helen, I assume from the name of the restaurant. I would have never known I was being waited on by the owner herself, as she is right along with all of the other servers, in black pants and an apron. she chatted a bit with other guests and children, all obviously loved having her company for a short time. Helen worked away, getting menus for other tables while talking with guests. it felt easy. the atmosphere is genuinely home made. it smells of coffee and fresh bacon, smiles all around and people who are eager like myself to get their plates. while ordering I had mentioned how I had found them online as the best place to eat around the area and she mention it was her grandparents restaurant back in 1937. I love the history but moreso, I love that it is well put together and comfortable. a recent renovation I imagine alhas the dining room looking modern and soft. i ordered a cinnamon roll that I'd spied on the countertop and it was delivered warm and powdered with sugar. I can say with the utmost confidence that it was the best Cinnamon roll I'd ever had. it had me excited for the morning quesadilla that was on its way. the quesadilla was delivered with the check and a smile, the pico de Gallo was clearly fresh, fresh chives on top and perfectly ripe avocados. the eggs weren't overdone or dry, it was absolutely wonderful. both dishes and a water came out to a whopping $23.56 and they very much earned it plus tip. one of the best breakfast experiences I've had in several years and absolutely the best I've had in Massachusetts.

American restaurant
Nestled at 80 Thoreau St., this charming eatery pays homage to the renowned philosopher Henry David Thoreau, who hailed from Concord. The exterior exudes rustic chic vibes, inviting you into a world of upscale dining where New American cuisine takes center stage. At 80 Thoreau, every dish is crafted with a farm-to-fork philosophy that guarantees freshness and creativity in each bite.
This place is amazing, a hidden gem. Everything from the moment you walk in is A plus! Service is excellent, our waiter explained the different menu items and gave great suggestions on wine. The food, there aren’t enough words, it’s art crafted on your plate, that is not only visually appealing, but tastes so good! The true diamond in this establishment is the bartender, I think he’s one of the best in MA, he’s truly gifted at his craft! I think one of the reasons I really enjoy my experience here is because there are no TV’s and no loud music. It is truly a place you can go and enjoy a nice dinner without the distraction!!!

I feel this restaurant is very good. Everything is very fresh and the atmosphere is nice. Also, the price is very good in my opinion. $55 for 3 kinda big dishes (even though they are called small plates) + some free bread (which was just okay but free), then dessert is $10-14. I think very worth it for special occasions.

December 2024: It has been a few years since we were here last and we were happy that the food was just as good as our previous experience. The radicchio salad was spectacular, and I also enjoyed the duck. The scallop appetizer was interesting but not something I can would want to have again. June 2019. Soft shell crab and quail. Very tasty. Side note: Refills of soft drinks are not free. 2018. Excellent. I ate here several times and enjoyed everything I had each time.

We celebrated our 20 year anniversary and had an AMAZING experience at 80 Thoreau! The food was quality and thoughtful, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and they make you feel at ease with a great atmosphere! We had a nice bottle of dry/red wine with a 3 course meal; we did al a carte, but they did offer a tasting menu featuring sea bass for the season. Highly recommended!

Wow. I pretty much never give 5 stars and I grade on a scale. So 4 is very high rating. A ding for atmosphere as we were seated at a window with street view of neon signs. Perhaps I should have mentioned it was our anniversary. Service was good but could have been better. There was a ten minute period where we could get no attention. Otherwise, they were pretty attentive without being overbearing. I appreciate that couple of servers came by at the end of the meal to interact with us. It was a nice personal touch. The food: at worst it wss well executed and super creative. At best, the steak frites strip was the most flavorful piece of beef that has ever passed my lips. The duck fat fries were awesome. The, Latin style, I'd guess you'd call it, porkloin was great. A lot of flavors in the plate that were suprisiing but worked well together. I enjoyed a unique drink off the cocktail menu and the by the glass wine selection was more than adequate to satisfy us. Do recommend.

A visit to 80 Thoreau is always a treat, but even more so when they have a special menu. Their tomato and corn tasting wraps up today and it was fantastic. They are located on the top floor of the Concord Depot, the former train station. The space is charming both in the bar area and the dining room. I’ve been going there long enough to see dozens of servers come and go, but they are always knowledgeable and attentive. My only disappointment is that the bar burger is no longer available. It was one of my favorites.

We had a really great dinner at 80 Thoreau. The apps (bluefin tuna, cauliflower, and caviar waffles) were all very good. The tuna was fresh, the cauliflower was flavorful and the caviar waffles were unique. They also provided a bread service which was excellent. The entrees were also very very good, in addition to the drinks. This really rivals some of the top fancy restaurants, even in Boston. The atmosphere is also really unique - fancy, but not stuffy. Go here if you are looking for a trendy and fancy meal in the area!

Concord is already known for its history and beauty, and this restaurant makes the town shine even brighter. Not too far from Boston, it’s the perfect place for a little escape. Every dish feels like a masterpiece cooked with passion, plated with care, and full of flavor. Honestly, it’s Michelin level dining right in our backyard.

Starbucks is a renowned coffeehouse chain originating from Seattle, offering its signature roasts and light bites along with WiFi access. One particular location at the railroad crossing on 159 Sudbury Road is known for its cozy ambiance and dark roast coffee options. Despite limited parking, the cheerful and friendly staff consistently deliver drinks promptly. Although smaller in size, this Starbucks provides excellent service and delicious food, albeit with potential parking challenges. Additionally, customers praise the custom cake designs offered at this location.
This location is slightly smaller than the rest of the outlets I have been to so far. The service is really good and the food is very delicious. Finding a parking spot could be a real challenge.

Always too long a wait and then today my husbands six shot latte was not made correctly. Sorry for $11.18 it should be an awesome coffee. Ordered at 757 and 758 and finally got both at 814 and we ordered just one coffee each. Three times while making mine they stopped including looking through the mobile orders for someone else’s while my sat 3/4 made and didn’t finish it. When I visit here this is the Starbucks I use however never really happy with it

I walked in and ordered a simple grande black coffee with a shot of espresso. After waiting about 10 minutes, I asked the workers if a black coffee w a shot of espresso was ready yet. She rudely stated “if it’s not there then we haven’t made it yet.” Instead of asking for my name and checking to see if it was in line to be next… I proceeded to wait another Five minutes before they realized that it was never even processed in their system. The lack of customer service was disappointing. They then proceeded to give me a coffee that was spilled all over the edges.

I went in here to burn a gift card that has been in my wallet for several years. Maybe I’m just not hip enough, but this place oozes wanna be pretentiousness, and being in Concord doesn’t help that. Hey kids, we’re a cool coffee shop, never mind our corporate overlords and union busting, just buy another shitty drink and don’t forget to use our mobile app! If anyone wants this gift card with $19.04 on it, hmu! I don’t need another ice tea that tastes like dish soap.

The place is very small, and the parking lot is even smaller. I think there are times it would be hard to find parking. Baristas were amazing, and had a great personality. I would definitely come more often if I lived closer just for their amazing service.

I really don’t like giving bad reviews, but I do this in hopes of this Starbucks location making significant improvements from this constructive feedback. We regularly frequent this Starbucks, not because it’s the best option in town (it’s definitely not), but because my kids love the croissants. Almost EVERY time I place an online order, the staff is so backed up and slow that I’m standing there waiting for up to 15 minutes for a basic croissant and sometimes an iced coffee - nothing that requires a lot of time. This location is always understaffed, but those that are working there are typically unfriendly, and sometimes rude. They are very slow, usually disorganized and just chatting amongst themselves while lives of customers are waiting for their items. Most of the time the cashier is also doubling as the food orders person and this always puts them way behind. They are typically out of items, opened boxes are in the customer area, and not taken care of, and the eat-in area is always messy, and doesn’t look cleaned. The parking is a whole issue on its own. There’s around 10 spaces in a very tight lot and off a busy street. There’s almost always a line of cars on Thoreau street just waiting to get into the lot. It’s a mess. The manager really needs to get this place in order. I’ve been to so many Starbucks, and this is by far the very worst.
Amanda N — Google review
Usually I have an ok experience at this location. Perhaps it was just the timing of my visit but it was pretty bad… My coffee did not taste right, for a shaken espresso it had very little milk. I had ordered a sandwich, and waited 15-20 minutes. When I received it with my name, correct sticker. I walked out the door and drove down the street. At a quick glance. It looked like a sandwich, but when I opened it and saw it was a bagel. I made a quick u-turn parked in the ridiculous parking lot, went up to the cash register and explained I had received the wrong item. He asked no questions saw it had two stickers on top of another on it, he asked if this wasn’t what I ordered. Showing the bottom sticker… no as my sticker was directly on top. He took the bagel that I touched and opened back to the pickup area….I waited another 5 minutes for them to heat the sandwich I had ordered. Back in the day, Starbucks would honor their customers much better and offer a free item coupon for next time. Makes me think twice before ordering from this location again.

Grocery store
The Concord Cheese Shop is a haven for cheese lovers, offering an extensive selection of cheeses sourced globally and locally. In addition to their impressive cheese collection, the shop also features specialty products, wines, teas, and snacks. Visitors can indulge in hearty sandwiches from the deli counter and enjoy a picnic at nearby North Bridge. The shop's bustling atmosphere adds to the experience, with a number system for customer service and opportunities to sample cheeses before making a purchase.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience! The large selection of cheeses can be overwhelming, but Josh is incredibly knowledgeable and walked us through the different families of cheeses that we were most interested in while providing great recommendations on some others that we should try! We walked away very satisfied with our experience and cheese selection :)

I stopped in to put together a small charcuterie board for a housewarming, and this turned out to be a perfect one-stop shop. Great selection of cheeses, meats, and accompaniments — and the staff was super helpful in making recommendations. Will definitely be back!

Put this place on your Concord itinerary! We were having a hard time finding a quick lunch before our Orchard House tour and wandered by this lovely shop. Keep walking into the back for the deli, which is superb! Freshly made sandwiches, a fine salad selection, fresh lemonade, and other treats in the shop.
Bill R — Google review
Based on the ratings, went here for lunch and got two sandwiches. The sandwiches were cold, the bread almost seemed par baked (it was cold and really unpleasant to eat) and the deli meat was not the quality you would expect for a 19 dollar sandwich. I think this is a good place maybe to shop for fine canned goods but the sandwiches were the worst and most overpriced meal of our trip.
Anahita M — Google review
If I had to describe heaven on Earth, it would look pretty similar to The Concord Cheese Shop. When you walk in, there is a whole counter top and fridge full of all the types of cheeses one could ever want to sample. To the right are shelves full of wine, specialty teas, and all the snacks and accompaniments you’d want. In the back corner, there’s a deli counter with sandwiches and salami. If there’s a lot of people, the process is you take a yellow ticket and wait to be called up to get serviced. If you don’t need anything cut or portioned, you won’t need a ticket. I ended up spending about $100 for two bottles of wine ($6 each from Portugal), 6 cheeses, cashews, salami, and amazing customer service. It’s a little pricey, but you pay for the quality of the cheeses, well worth it, especially since you get to sample the cheeses before you get them. Sometimes the people at the counter will cut too much and will share some with other people. But all the staff are wicked knowledgeable on the cheeses so just share some things that you’re looking for and they’ll give you some ideas of what to get! It can be quite busy around the holidays (especially when I went 3 days before Christmas), so make sure you’re not in a rush. Parking can be tricky since it’s in Downtown Concord, but there’s a ton of street parking in the area. I hope you enjoy this shop as much as I do!

If you’re considering coming here, make sure to ask for Benny at the sandwich counter. He makes the best sandwich in this side of the Mississippi.

Stopped for a late lunch. The sandwiches were divine! Great cheese selection but we were too full after the sandwiches to try any. Next time!
Carrie F — Google review
very bland sandwich - not sure how they can charge $19 for it. The sandwich had no taste and the bread that came with it was raw. To charge this amount of money for a sub they really need to offer something extraordinary and this was not - wish I had gone to Subway.

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Verrill Farm. Not quite as popular as Minute Man National Historical Park, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Verrill Farm, a cherished family-owned establishment in Concord since 1918, offers an array of fresh produce, baked goods, and locally sourced items at its seasonal farmstand and bakery. The farm also hosts various events such as pumpkin festivals, farm-to-table dinners, and holiday celebrations. With breathtaking grounds, it's also a popular venue for weddings. Families can enjoy picking strawberries in the spring while knowing they're getting organically grown goodness.
We popped in on our way to Mahoney's Garden Center. Looked really big on the outside. They had a deli so hubby and I split a grilled cheese. It was AMAZING. Best grilled cheese on the planet. Hubby and I have a date in 1 month to go back for another grilled cheese because it was so good. They also had some gorgeous desserts, but we decided not to get any as we already had dinner reservations, but definitely next time. Everyone there was super friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Food prices were comparable to a regular grocery store but definitely not as big as selection. Definitely worth a visit.

We had great experience. Purchased field admission tickets online $10 each.that allows on field and every adult ticket includes pick n take home 5 sunflowers. They got more produce for sale and deli inside to grab food. Can eat inside or outside lots of space to hang around take pictures.

Flower picking at Verrill Farm is such a fun and adventurous experience under the sun surrounded by beautiful wildflowers! My fiancé and I had a romantic time together in the fields — it felt peaceful and joyful. The flowers are very reasonably priced and last for many days. We also attended the pancake breakfast event a different day under the tent, and it was absolutely delicious! It was so nice to see families with children enjoying the morning and the live music added such a warm touch. Highly recommended for a perfect weekend outing!

This sunflower farm is perfect because they have local grocery store as well. The sunflower farm is across the street from the grocery store, it was kinda confusing a little bit where to go. But we did pay the $10 fee in the cashier and they told us to go across the street, $10 also get you 5 sunflowers that you can pick out yourself. It was a gloomy day but the sunflowers are still beautiful and some if them are bigger than our faces. Beautiful!
Kassandra T — Google review
Went strawberry picking in the first week of June! Entry to the field is timed so that it's not too crowded and picking is staggered into different rows for different weeks as the berries ripen. Got 8lbs from a 4 quart basket in about an hour, and ended up being about $5/lb.
Haley S — Google review
Great prepared floods and lots of fresh produce. There's a new pavilion for eating lunch and relaxing in a scenic setting.
Richard V — Google review
I've had a very mixed bag from this farm, especially in the past few years. Pre-covid, I had their CSA and felt like we were only given the seconds or unwanted items. Also, they supplement in material from other farms without informing you. During COVID, the formerly amazing deli and made to order sandwiches really went downhill (for example, $10+ for a chicken Caesar wrap with one piece of lettuce, a little chicken, and mostly tortilla). I've given them a few chances since and the sandwiches really just haven't improved back... I'd rather go to nashoba bakery 5 mins away for a MUCH more packed sandwich for cheaper. Verrill does a good job with some local produce, and has been great trying to host more events recently (such as Octoberfest). I usually shop during tomato season, when they get the heirlooms. We always shop here for Brandywine tomatoes, but this year they didn't have them a single day I visited. The factor that affects this review the most is the horrible service for old gift cards. Their system can't find them, so the staff try to convince you that an unused gift card has $0 on it. They tried to do this on three separate occasions with three separate gift cards, and none were empty. One more comment is to ALWAYS take something a couple days out from expiring, as my mom got something that had gone off on the date of expiry that was for sale. I hope they try to get back up to quality standards soon!

THE place of history on Henry Thoreau. If your in the area and even if you don’t read much, the walk to get here is very peaceful and the location along Walden Pond is very scenic and relaxing. Also a cabin replica at the visitor center as the original is no longer standing
Marc P — Google review
Not much there, it was $30 to park an out of state car, what a rip off. His cabin is gone and the reconstructed one doesn't have any original stuff in it. You are paying to see the pond, which looks like any other pond, and to hike to where his cabin use to be.
Ray C — Google review
Beautiful, educational and well maintained!
Lisa S — Google review
We tried to visit this site. We found the location on a local map from the visitor's center and drove to the area following Google Maps. There was no way to reach the site from the main highway as no parking was possible on the highway. We turned off the highway to a road all along the woods by Walden Pond and the Cabin site. NO PARKING signs all along that road. Across the street was a state camp grounds and a possible place to park for a fee we thought was unreasonable for a short visit if we could walk across a busy street to reach a what appeared to walking trail that may have got us to the cabin site. Maybe we improperly relied on Google Maps for this issue, but I think Massachusetts is more to blame by not having a clearly designated parking area for visitors.

Walden Pond State Reservation is a dog-free park with trails and swimming, located at the site where Henry David Thoreau wrote his book "Walden." The reservation offers a beautiful hike and a glimpse of the Revolutionary War's beginnings. Visitors can also explore nearby museums such as Concord Museum, Orchard House, Ralph Waldo Emerson's House, Thoreau Farm, and Wright Tavern.
I grew up in Concord and Walden was our town pond. I came to understand later in life that it is a special spot for people from all across the world. The clear water, ample beach space, and lovingly maintained trails truly make it one of the best ponds I have ever been to.

I visited Walden Pond while I was in the Boston area. This place is unique, serene, and peaceful, perfect for hiking, swimming, or relaxing. We hiked around the lake in late June. We also visited Henry David Thoreau’s small house and the original site where this famous writer lived and wrote American classics in the 1800s, seeking to liberate his soul. His desires from the 1800s convey strong messages to people living in the 21st century. I need to find a place where I can liberate myself these days.

Beautiful, peaceful, somewhat spiritual walk around the pond. I would recommend getting there in the morning if that’s the desired experience. I’m guessing it gets a bit busier later. Two notes: RWE cabin is long gone and a stone marker shows where it once stood. Parking is $30/car for out of state drivers ($10/in state).

Great bit of paradise just minutes out of Boston. Downsides: Parking difficult on nice days Overcrowded beach area on nice days Plenty of mosquitoes on hot humid Summer days.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. And we didn’t even leave the car. Didn’t do any research before coming to Walden pond and upon pulling into the lot we quickly realized dogs aren’t allowed. No big deal! We pulled over and started looking up other places in the area that we could walk with our pups. No dogs or humans had left the vehicle mind you and two female park rangers started aggressively yelling at me “NO DOGS ALLOWED” and I stated yes we saw. We’re just looking for somewhere else to go and the continued to berate me that no dogs were allowed, which I explained again I am aware, that’s why we are all still in the car looking for another option. After screaming at me for another minute they finally walked away. Bikes are not allowed in Walden park either and if we apply the same logic that the dogs can’t be here even in the car, the car next to us had a bike on the rack and that shouldn’t have been allowed either. The rangers were way too aggressive for the situation and it was a terrible experience even though we didn’t actually experience anything. People in the parking lot came up after to make sure I was ok because they were being so loud. Will not be back ever.

Emerson Playground is a small neighborhood green space with sports fields, play equipment, and a seasonal splash pad. The playground offers various climbing, sliding, and swinging equipment for kids to enjoy. Additionally, there are picnic tables in both sunny and shaded areas, water fountains, and toilets available at 90 Stow Street. Visitors can also make use of the well-maintained tennis courts and running track. The park is conveniently located near downtown Concord, making it easy to explore other nearby attractions.
Really good tennis courts and well maintained. The lawn throughout was perfectly green and clean. There is running track and other play areas. Right near the downtown Concord will help greatly in visiting other attractions nearby. Only downside is parking is limited and need to use street parking.
Santhosh G — Google review
The playground overall is pretty good, it could really use some shade (like the triangle sail shades) and there is no longer a water feature which is sad for kids The picnic area is smaller but a few tables were available when we went
Samantha E — Google review
Area is fine, giving it 2 stars because we went there to play tennis and the courts don't open until after 8am, so no early games. Other than that nice courts, has basketball, and baseball there as well. Also a lot of dogs walked there.

Rideout Playground is a massive park located just a short walk from the West Concord Depot. It features three tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, and a children's playground with various equipment including swings, slides, climbing structures, and more. The playground also offers open-air and sheltered picnic tables as well as a water fountain and restrooms. Wonderful playground for kids. 4 baseball fields for playing. Place for baseball, basketball and tennis practicing. A lot of people walk their dogs there.
VOLHA D — Google review
This place is massive! Tennis courts, fields, picnic area, playground, tons of parking, and more! The cherry blossoms were stunning! My one complaint was the number of unleashed dogs running on the fields. I would have gone for a walk, but due to being fragile (a friendly dog coming to say hi would and has injured me), I was unable to stay and enjoy the park. Maybe the town could put up a fenced area so dogs have a contained place to be present and people like me can also enjoy? Till then, it is the law and common courtesy to leash dogs.
Kristy J — Google review
We used to love this park but recently there have been a bunch of teenagers playing golf in the open field area. It has been on more than one occasion, and they frequently hit the ball near the playground, putting smaller kids at risk. When approached can be intimidating, and say that it says nothing on the park’s webpage stopping them from playing golf. They are right, so it’s not worth the argument. Hopefully something can be done about this, as we would love to start going back to this park. It’s a treasure.
Pantry P — Google review
This playground is beautiful. Accessible, great for toddlers and bigger kiddos alike. There are a few riding toys scattered about, a generous sandbox, and two levels of slide/climbing. Additionally, there are two bucket swings, three big kid swings, and a generous walking area for parents who want to keep older kids in eyesight but don't need to be on top of them.
Briar B — Google review
Nice playground but for the amount of money this town has, it could probably take a page from neighboring towns (Waltham, Belmont, and Hudson comes to mind) and add a few splash parks. I have to wonder where this town’s priorities lie.
Charles L — Google review
Great time with my fiance and 1 year old son. He was so happy. We had entire park to ourselves. We go to this location multiple times per week. Atmosphere is great. Open space and peaceful...

Medium size. Has the usual, swing sets, climbing and sliding structure, plus a sandbox, has multiple toys lying around that the kids would love. Free parking. Has a large field beside it that can be used f9r dogs, free play, etc.
Mario C — Google review
This was a pretty intricate playground with a sandbox filled with toys, Swings, a handicap swing, a saucer swing, slides, climbing and balancing equipment, benches, and monkey bars. There's a baseball diamond, and a basketball court.. and across the way there's like an America Ninja Warrior type play area that seems to be a work in progress (but there weren't any signs or fences keeping people out). It had like a spider walk, a rope ladder, a climbing rope, a high-knee rope course, one of those finger grip things that you shuffle across, and a peg bridge. It was def cool!

A great bakery and coffee show with delicious food. We stopped for some takeout and got a breakfast sandwich and a curried chicken salad along with coffee. Everything was fresh and delicious and the staff was helpful and friendly. It took a few minutes since it was all made to order but well worth a short wait. Everything was delicious and a great value for the quality and quantity. There is plenty of seating indoors with tables and chairs. This is a great option for breakfast or lunch in the area.

Nashoba Brook Bakery is hands-down my favorite place to grab lunch! The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and the food never disappoints. They have awesome coffee too! This place is a hidden gem. I first knew of the company because I would buy their sourdough bread at the grocery store. Then I found their location, and it's my new favorite spot. There sandwiches are INCREDIBLE. My favorite is the Walden, but they're all good. Everything is fresh. You can see the bakers making bread in the back! The coffee is great, and lots of sweet treats. Rapscallion Kitchen & Bar in Acton offers a mostly seafood menu, but their burger and pork belly are standout dishes. The fries and freshly brewed iced tea with simple syrup on the side are also delightful. The cozy, old-time pub/bar vibe adds to the welcoming atmosphere. The smoked wings with a kick and the unique coleslaw with cherries are must-tries.

I enjoyed the place in Acton more than this one. But that's because the menu at this restaurant is mostly seafood. The burger was very good. I enjoyed the pork belly rather than bacon. But it's hard to eat because of the egg. Fries were also really good. Iced tea was freshly brewed and was very good with a little simple syrup on the side was a nice touch. It was a little busy but there are only 10 or so tables and it took our waitress a while to get us the check. Granted it's a new place but they need a little more staff organization. Great new place, a tiny bit more expensive than it needs to be but they have such fresh ingredients they probably need to charge it.

One of the best classic cheese burger I had tonight. It was delicious, super moist, very balanced. A big thanks to chef for the awesome burger. Also the fries was perfectly cooked and crispy the way I love. Lovely experience and would love to go back again n again. Also the chocolate musse was too good. I would like to thanks the bartender and the waitress who was serving us. They both are very sweet and nice person. Their hospitality and smile they provide are amazing. Thanks again for everything. Unfortunately did not have any picture today as I was so hungry and the moment food arrived in the table I just hog. A place to explore for good food.

I gave it a three principally because I really didn't like the menu. It was very eclectic and there was nothing classic available other than a cheeseburger. Everything else was pretty good, the service, the wine, the person I was with and and the atmosphere, but I really didn't enjoy the menu. It was also a bit pricey. Good for some people, but not for either of us. Check the menu before you go, we didn't.

A welcoming place with quality beers. The staff were warm and helpful. They are able to accommodate dietary restrictions. The almond crusted salmon and the seafood stew were very good. Beers are strong in the Belgian-style which offers great mouth feel and rich flavors.

As a big fan of Rapscallion in Acton, I've been missing them since we now live a little farther away, and was very excited to hear they had opened another location in Concord. We finally got around to trying it, and were pleased to have the same great experience we were used to in Acton. The space has kind of a rustic look, and feels a little more casual and comfortable than before, despite being smaller. And the food is just as delicious--we had the poutine, Steak Robert, Seafood Cioppino, and the burger, all of which were excellent. The beer is decent as well (though they were out of two I was hoping to order), they have a solid cocktail and wine menu, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be adding this new, closer Rapscallion to our rotation of favorite local spots for dinner out!

Coffee shop
Dunkin' is a well-established restaurant chain that specializes in serving iconic breakfast dishes and a wide selection of coffee beverages. The recent renovation has transformed the establishment into a valuable asset for the local community. It exudes an inviting atmosphere with its vibrant, tidy, and cheerful ambiance. Adorning the walls are large paintings depicting scenes from the area, skillfully crafted by a nearby artist, alongside charming vintage illustrations portraying historical events. The menu boasts fresh food options that cater to various tastes and preferences.
This is the cleanest and most well run Dunkin’ Donuts in the area. Plenty of seating, clean bathrooms and a nice place to have your coffee. Tons of kids from the local schools at times but always well behaved.

The building is very clean and polished Inside. The cashier did not understand some of my order but it came out alright. Very hospitable and nice staff.

Best dunkin in area! Good fresh coffee, great sandwiches. Very nice place to get some coffee with friends and family. Great people working here. Clean place.

Nice location with good parking. Clean bathrooms. Seating area very clean and well maintained.

This is my favorite dunkin in this area. Coffee and food are always made accurately and staff is always nice, even at 5am. You do have to walk into this location. There is no drive thru available.

A convenient stop when I have an early shift at work or when I haven't had a chance to eat before going to my early morning personal training sessions. Sometimes service can be a bit slow but I think that's just because I show up often at peak business hours. Never got my order wrong and the food was always hot. Highly recommend this Duncan if you need to save just a little bit of time and it happens to be on your way

Very nice place to eat! Me and my family have ordered from there a bunch and only once or twice have they gotten our order wrong (and even then the order was very similar and still good). The staff is friendly and the donuts are fresh! A good place to eat for sure.

The recent overhaul has made this a wonderful resource for the community. It's bright, clean, and cheerful. They have big paintings of local scenes done by a local painter, and pretty old framed illustrations of historical episodes. The food is fresh. The new seating arrangement is open and spacious, and I love the little area surrounded by windows at one end. A great place to grab a snack and go or sit down and take a break. Concord runs on Dunkin!

Organic restaurant
Nestled in Concord, Woods Hill Table is a charming New American restaurant that truly embraces the farm-to-table philosophy. With its inviting patio and traditional dining room, it’s the perfect spot to savor delicious meals crafted from ingredients sourced directly from its own New Hampshire farm. The menu is dynamic and changes with the seasons, ensuring fresh flavors and new culinary experiences on each visit. While not strictly a bar, Woods Hill Table offers an impressive selection of cocktails that complement their beautifully plated organic dishes.
All I have to say is WOW! From the appetizer to the dessert everything was fantastic. All the food tasted so fresh (because it is) all locally sourced/organic food. I also want to add, probably some of the best french fries I have ever had and they are made in tallow- so that is a plus! Steak was grass-fed and it was absolutely mouth watering. I intend to come back in the fall to see what the fall menu has to offer!

The burger was really good! Juicy and flavorful. The bun it came on was super unique, definitely not your average roll. We also tried the fish dish, which was delicious, and the bread they served was baked to absolute perfection.
Liran T — Google review
Amazing experience here! The staff took my coat the moment we walked in and offered a drink menu while we wait. Everything is organic, grass-fed. And even the fries are amazing (tallow only). Highly recommend

Woods Hill Table is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a charming atmosphere, delicious food, and well-crafted drinks. The staff is friendly and personable, making each visit feel fun and inviting. We’re always glad we came back—the menu is constantly evolving, and the overall vibe never disappoints.

An outstanding Dining Experience This restaurant is among the top three we've visited in the past five years. The food was incredibly well-prepared, the service was personable, and the overall vibe was terrific for a dinner with friends. We had a late reservation, closer to the end of their service, and despite that, the service remained exceptionally friendly.

Been here several times. It was as I remembered : the appetizers are interesting and innovative. Grilled broccoli had a yummy garlic aioli. The pei mussels with the ‘njuda sauce was amazing! I sopped up the sauce with the bread! I’d go back just for that! The mains are average. The lamb shank was chewy. The steak was average. Only for special nights out since it’s pricey. Ambiance is cozy. Aug ‘25

Sat at the bar and had a couple drinks and dinner - our bartender was so friendly and knowledgeable. The burger is insanely delicious and the tallow fries are out of this world! The Bolognese was really tasty as well - both 10/10!

Absolutely love everything about this place. Food is good, and also unique. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, but the best part of woods Hill table is undoubtedly the service. The bar tenders are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and if you ask for recommendations they'll give you detailed breakdowns of dishes/drinks. Pricey but so so worth it
